Salt Lake City, Utah Wedding by Jonathan Canlas

Happy Monday lovelies! Our first wedding is so bright and happy, it is sure to pull you out of that early morning fog – no coffee needed. And we are pretty positive the bridesmaids’ attire is some of the most adorable we’ve seen to date. Seriously, how can you top those cute yellow cardigans? Jonathan Canlas worked his usual magic with the camera and whipped up some gorgeous imagery straight from Salt Lake City and there’s even more to fawn over in the gallery if you so choose.

see the rest of this pretty day here!

I felt so lucky on our wedding day because our families meshed so well. Between the two families, we had close to 50 grand kids! Can you believe it? There were kids everywhere, but that’s what made the event so fun. Part of what made our wedding special, is that my mom and Blake’s mom were best friends in college. They were even each others bridesmaids! Our moms were in heaven and it made the whole wedding feel so personal!

I always wanted an outdoor wedding, and lucky for us, the weather turned out to be perfect. We had delicious food, lights, an ice cream bar (I like ice cream better than cake), and a great band who played jazz and Frank Sinatra (because I think that style of music is so romantic)! Kids were dancing everywhere! As we left our reception all we could think about is how loved we felt. It was so fun to have all the people we cared most about all in the same place at the same time to celebrate with us!

Utah Wedding by Erin Kate Photography

I have a weak spot for gorgeous flowers so you better believe my knees were feeling a wee bit wobbly as I looked at this Utah wedding by Erin Kate Photography.  I’m just in love with the bouquet full of dahlias, ranunculus and succulents and the vivid centerpieces are super fun and unexpected.  Beyond the beauty of these mountain-side nuptials, a whole lot of heart and love went into this serene day and there is so much more to absorb in the full gallery!

Sam and I met years before we started dating while working together at an outdoor retailer store in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our friendship started with many winter seasons on the ski slopes and many turns of pedals on mountain bike trails in our big back yard – the Wasatch Mountains. After a little motivation from Sam’s sister, he finally asked me out on an “official” date. Sam and I were engaged six months after that first night out. We then waited almost two years to get married. The two year engagement was worth the time. We were able to spend those months creating a wedding that will last a lifetime of memories. Sam and I have a passion for playing in the mountains and the land that surrounds the area in which we live. After searching for a special place to be married, we found it, right under our noses. We have skied countless days at Solitude Mountain Resort and decided it was there that we wanted to start our married life together.

The colors for our wedding were a mix of my favorite – teal, and Sam’s favorite – green. The months of being engaged paid off and I was able to hand make our Save the Date Cards and Invitations. Our main goal and focus through the entire wedding process was to include the people that were the most important to us as well those that will be with us through our entire married journey. The day was not only the start of our married lives together but a celebration of joining families, as family means so much to me and Sam. Picking groomsmen and bridesmaids can be a daunting task, but we immediately decided to have only our siblings stand beside us as we took our vows.  We also had a very special person officiate our ceremony, my brother-in-law Kevin.  The beloved late Mr. C. Kevin Sondrup, Sam’s dad, passed away a number of years ago and we wanted to honor his presence, and all those that could not be with us, on this very special day by including the herb rosemary into all of our arrangements because it is the herb of remembrance.

Our florist and decorator did a fabulous job of incorporating the natural landscape of the mountains, succulents from our own garden, and the herb rosemary into the entire ceremony, boutonnières and bouquets, and the reception.  We could not be more thankful for such a beautiful wedding and could not have done it without the help many family members and friends. Our family and friends traveled from many different parts of the world to celebrate and were very grateful for their presence.

Dreamy DIY Wedding by Duston Todd Photography

Ok, this wedding had me the minute I read that the bride’s mother made her wedding dress. Yes…Made. Her. Wedding. Dress. And it’s not hard to see why I was immediately in awe. But the DIY doesn’t stop there, no sir. The bride created the bouquet, boutonniere, bridesmaids bouquets, handmade paper flowers and paper birds for the table arrangements, and floral around the cake. She is my hero today, as is Duston of Duston Todd Photography for capturing their day in such a gorgeous way.  For more awe-inspiring images, be sure to check out the gallery.

Rings – I knew I was going to have a hard time finding a ring that I would want to wear the rest of my life! We started going to the local antique stores and tried on some AMAZING rings, one was a 5 kt Russian royalty ring from the 1890’s- a little out of our price range though haha. I was on my computer one day and looking online at some antique stores on the east coast- and found my ring! It was dated around 1920 and I instantly fell in love with the geometric design and the qualities that only hand-made jewelry has. We called the store and had it sent out. I had three days to decide whether I wanted to keep it or not….after staring at it for a few hours I knew it was the ring I had been searching for! Antique shopping for rings is just amazing- every one is so different and completely unique.

Groom’s suit – This was something I left almost completely up to my fiance Rock. We had decided on a color (tan suits were a lot harder to hunt down then I thought they would be!) and Rock finally found one that matched his new Urban Outfitter shoes…he was stoked on his new shoes.

Bridesmaid dresses – I am not a fan of the weddings that have one or two colors and everything has to stick to those colors, I wanted to bring a little more into the mix. So finding the bridesmaids dresses ended up being one of the easiest parts of the preparations! I was just strolling through Nordstroms and came across this lovely color purple. I thought it would match the victorian/natural look I was hoping to achieve- and they were an easy fit for all my bridesmaids.

Jewelry – “Something Old” Days leading up to my bridals with Duston Todd, the dress was still not finished and the last thing I was thinking about was what jewelry I was going to wear. I had initially wanted a cameo somewhere on the dress, but hadn’t got around to finding one. My cute Grandma had heard in passing that I still needed jewelry, and came over with a few tattered jewelry boxes for me to look through. Many of the pieces had been passed down from her mother and were from the early 1900’s. There was a beautiful coral Cameo in the box and I knew it was the perfect size and color- it was a perfect finishing touch to my dress.  Rock also had a little piece of the past with him that day- he was wearing his Grandpas tie pin! It all tied in with the classic, antique feeling of the whole day.

Dress – “Something New”  If only I could show everyone the drawing that was my “design” for my wedding dress…its pretty special. My husband may be a sketch artist but I am certainly not. My mom had agreed to sew the dress for me, but we had very different ideas of how to go about things. She is used to patterns, measuring, planning, etc…and all she had to go off of was a terrible drawing that I had made of my vision. She was a great sport though- even through the late nights of yelling and scribbling pens across the sketch of my dress, we somehow made it through. “Something Borrowed”  Some of the lace on the dress (the neck, sleeves, and mid section) was found from an old victorian dress. I was lucky enough to come across it and bought it before I even knew my mom was going to make the dress or not! I just couldn’t pass it up- it’s one of my favorite parts of the whole dress! My mom would kill me if she knew I was telling people this, but on the day of shooting my bridals we were still not completely done with the dress! We woke up early that morning and finished the sleeves (I even styled my hair on the side of the dress that was less likely to be done in time haha). We got it mostly all put together, but the hem was still in pins and there were more then a few pins on the bodice. O well! You couldn’t tell in the photos at all : )  “Something Blue”  Sticking with the fact that nothing really matched, I decided on a pair of lovely blue shoes. I fell in love with the steel blue color and the fact that they weren’t 4″ stilettos!

Venue specifics – Millcreek Canyon is a place that I have grown up around, only being about 5 minutes away from my house. During the summers I bike and climb up that canyon- and I just love mountains. It was the perfect venue for an outdoor reception. We didn’t have to decorate too much which was nice. I had experimented with paper birds and flowers before and wanted to try and make something for the wedding with them. It ended up being our main decoration! About a week before the wedding we had a good ol’ fashion arts and crafts night with some of my family members, I showed them how to make the different things and they all caught on pretty quick. I put all the centerpieces together a few days before the wedding and didn’t have to worry about it again! I had experience with doing wedding flowers from all my sisters weddings, so the thought of doing my own didn’t seem like that big of a deal. I had my amazing sisters to help me pick up the flowers and we had a fun time just sitting around and putting everything together. I chose flowers that looked like I could have picked them on a nature walk or something- it just felt more me then roses and other more manicured flowers.

The day was absolutely perfect- crazy, but perfect. I unfortunately wasn’t one of those nervous brides that wakes up an hour before their alarm goes off…I actually slept through my alarm! So I didn’t have as much time to get ready as I would have hoped, but in the grand scheme of things it didn’t really matter. We had the most amazing time listening to all the toasts being presented, and I had been waiting to hear this song that I knew Rock had written for me- it was awesome. We danced the night away and had so much fun, we couldn’t have asked for nicer weather up the canyon. We changed into our send off clothes and hurried down a line of friends and family throwing lavender (which took me a long time to get it all out of my hair!). Rock was nervous that we were going to crash the bike going down the canyon- but I think I was on such an adrenaline rush I barely remember thinking twice about something like that! I was just happy that everything went so well and that we were finally married. I am so glad that I had Duston there to document it all, thanks again Duston!

This next little number has completely and totally captured my heart. Although they had me the moment I laid eyes on those perfect ice cream cones…a wedding detail that EVERYONE should have in my humble opinion…it was the laid back, totally effortless style that the bride and groom infused into every corner that really got the giddy going. Paired with the photography style of Jenny Moloney, this wedding turned out to be a little slice of heaven…right here on SMP. Click here to see even more!

Kelli & Sean are not only fantastic together, but they are individually wonderful people. I am so glad I met them! Kelli and Sean got married on Friday, August 20th at Rose Sachs Gardens in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Vicki and her daughter Hailey, of Ella Bella Floral out did themselves. Kelli, a creative girl herself, wanted to create a setting with a woodsy and feminine feel — sofas in the nooks of the trees, tissue paper flowers, hanging lanterns, wooden tables draped in lace and topped with jars of flowers. Did i mention the gorgeous cake table? The pair opted for strawberry, toasted coconut, chocolate ganache and lemon zest cakes. Sean invited his talented friends of the Tony Lake Trio to play at the event. And the result of all these collaborations? A delicious, beautiful and joyful day!

Deer Valley, Utah Wedding by Erin Kate Photography

We are going crazy over this wedding. Seriously, on the smitten scale, this is off the charts. We LOVE the peaches. We love the great outdoors backdrop and the incorporation of ski lifts (completely awesome). But the thing that is really getting us, really making us fall hard – that would be all of the perfect, perfect moments captured by Erin Kate Photography. It is almost as if we were there, sitting on top of that mountain watching the festivities unfold. See even more of the pretty details and perfect moments in the gallery.

From the Bride:

Jim and I first met while skiing in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, where we both lived at the time. Six years later Jim proposed as we toured the beautiful vineyards of northern Italy. We knew we wanted our wedding to be a reflection of US – our favorite foods, music, people and memories — so we took pieces of two of our favorite places, the rustic Utah mountains and the classic, romantic Italian vineyards to create our inspiration … Utah — We immediately fell in love with Empire Canyon Lodge, in Park City, Utah. The lodge is nestled in a little valley, surrounded by towering mountains and dotted with wildflowers. It was a perfect fit with our passion for the outdoors (and Park City was an awesome spot for a destination weekend for our guests!). While in Utah last summer we wandered through the Salt Lake farmers market and smelled the sweet fragrance of fresh peaches before we even saw them. The peaches melted in our mouths and Jim immediately began working with a farmer from Tagges Farms to supply hundreds of Bear Lake peaches, plums and raspberries for our celebration. We served the fruit with our favorite cheeses, made peach iced tea and studded our lemon cake with fresh raspberries. Italy was the source of our color palette and, of course, our menu. Our colors (navy, peaches and pinks) were inspired by a stunning sunset over Barolo. We worked with our florist to use variations in peaches and pinks to create soft, romantic bouquets that felt like they could have just been picked from a garden and we rented navy cloths for all of our tables. For our menu, we worked hand in hand with the chef at Deer Valley to incorporate flavors inspired by our travels (and by Jim’s mom’s incredible Italian cooking). Prosciutto y melon, Utah tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, fennel & citrus salad and dry-aged ribeye were among the Italian inspirations on our menu … yum! Wine was another mini-theme in the wedding – we love drinking and learning about wine and some of our best friends in the world have been made drinking wine. We included our favorite Italian wine, Vietti Nebbiolo and served Prosecco instead of champagne for toasting. One of our friends in Salt Lake was amazingly helpful and collected wooden wine boxes for us. By the big day we had dozens to use throughout the lodge to hold peaches and even to use as a cake stand. For favors we etched wine glasses with mountains and the date of the wedding. Note – if you are going to try this, make sure you double check the logo for the right date BEFORE you have the glasses printed :)

We knew that the ceremony was particularly important for us to make ‘ours.’ My younger brother passed away three years ago and the sting of his absence was difficult. Jim surprised me before the wedding by having cufflinks for all of the groomsmen engraved with my brother’s sports number, 33, to represent his presence as a groomsman. He also gave me a simple gold band with the number 33 engraved within it so that I could carry him with me throughout the day. We also incorporated wine into our wedding ceremony, where we used it as a symbol of our rich family histories, then combined two wines into one glass and drank from it to symbolize our marriage. Two days before the wedding we got a wild idea, and inquired whether we could fire up one of the Deer Valley chairlifts and move the ceremony from a mid-mountain meadow to the ridgeline. Deer Valley scrambled to achieve our request in record time (thanks to the amazing Karen Gibbs!!) and got staff to man the lift and set up our event at the top of Flagstaff mountain, at 9100 ft! I rode the lift up with my dad before we walked down the aisle and Jim and I said our vows overlooking hundreds of miles of mountaintops and valleys with a mountain wind filling my veil. The location couldn’t have been more perfect – and all of our guests had a blast riding a chairlift in their stilettos! Jim and I had the best day of our entire lives, surrounded by our favorite people in the world. Planning all of the pieces of the wedding, designing all of the paper elements, deciding on themes, and putting every last detail in to place was serious work, but we enjoyed every moment of it. It seemed impossible that we would be able to capture all these details and the incredible energy of the day in photos, but Erin Kate did that … and even more. I am thrilled with her artistic eye and stunning photos of our day! We wouldn’t change a thing and feel so lucky to have to support of all of our friends and family in making it happen!!

Utah Wedding by LMG Events

There is a lot to love about this next pretty little wedding. For one, the bride’s dress has SLEEVES. So stinking cute. They also had a typewriter, they served donuts, and they had the cutest little DIY details ever. Oh and the cake, can’t forget about the cake. Or the shoes. But by far the most lovable part of this wedding is the story behind the day. The garden where the couple was to have their ceremony + reception was nearly destroyed by an oil spill…that literally left them without a space just days before their wedding. But with the help of planner Mara Marian of LMG Events, they were able to pull off a gorgeous wedding that you would never believe was brought together in no time at all. To see how it all turned out, keep reading. And to see more pics, click right here.

From Mara, at LMG Events

Utah recently had an oil spill that destroyed the garden of a local LDS church ward (among other properties) called Garden Park Ward where many LDS brides held their wedding receptions after their Temple ceremonies. Needless to say, June, July and August were completely booked Thursday-Saturday for wedding receptions. Not only are the garden and pond full of oil and cleaning crews, the smell is also unbearable.

I am a local Utah wedding planner working with Chevron Pipeline company (yes- the gas station!) to relocate these receptions (some with less than a week to go!). I have been working almost non-stop with brides, their grooms and sometimes their mothers to fix everything while Chevron picks up the tab for relocation costs as well as a wedding planner should they choose to use one (that’s where I come in). I have been the go to gal to call thus far, working with dozens of frazzled brides.

One bride in particular, was amazing to work with – Stephanie Tibbs. Stephanie was married to Kristjan Morgan in the Salt Lake Temple June 25, 2010. Their wedding reception followed and was relocated from Garden Park Ward to The Grand America Hotel Garden Courtyard.

Stephanie’s original reception had a vintage theme that we were able to tweak and incorporate into the Grand America Garden Courtyard’s meticulously landscaped gardens. Stephanie was able to find an old vintage, electric typewriter that guests used instead of a guest book to type their best advice to the newlyweds. We rented the antique teak wood table the typewriter sat on as well as the large turquoise cupboard from a local antique shop, CG Sparks. The cuppboard was used in place of a traditional gift table. By the end of the night, it was buried in gifts!

Christine Olson of Christine Olson photography took these amazing shots, and she’s my absolute favorite new photographer in Utah.

The process of getting to where we ended up was hard. When I get to meet with a new bride, it’s always under excited and positive circumstances. Most brides have seen my events or been referred by someone else so they’re excited to sit down and chat. Working with Stephanie and the other Garden Park brides was different. I was referred to them AFTER they received news that their wedding venue had to be changed. Stephanie and I had just days to completely edit, move and execute a reception at a completely different location. We got extremely lucky and the Grand America had availability outdoors- which is what we wanted since Garden Park is an outdoor garden setting.

Salt Lake City, Utah Wedding by Duston Todd

We are continuing down the path of mini wedding festivities with a doozy of a wedding. If you are all about sweet family affairs and intimate backyard details, you will most likely fall head over pretty heels for this. The trees, the lanterns, the lovely maids all in a row…we just can’t get enough. You can find the full wedding day from Duston Todd Photography in the gallery.  Happy gazing!

From Duston Todd:

This was a beautiful backyard wedding and reception.  The late summer sun and flowers were truly abundant throughout the day. There were also a ton of charming details and DIY decor: ribbons and lanterns in the trees, lovely food, and grandma’s house (literally) as a backdrop. The bride and groom were much more interested in a relaxing and soothing summer evening event. When I asked if they wanted to dance or cut the cake or bouquet toss or anything on the traditional/formal side – it was the least of their priorities. They really just wanted to soak up the ambiance, visit with those they love and remember the moments of it all. (and i thought that was just perfect).

From the Bride:

We wanted to keep things organic yet with a vintage feel in the outdoor garden setting. The flowers and table centerpieces played a big part, along with the long flowing ribbons we hung from the large oak trees. Lighting was key as well –  we hung large glass chandeliers in the trees, bistro lights above the patio, and rustic barn lanterns were placed all through out. Alpine Event Rentals did an excellent job providing fresh and up-to-date lighting options in addition to their classy tables and chairs.

The cocktail tables had vintage hand blown glass bottles which held single stem flowers. Each table a little different. Florals consisted of ivory anemone with ink blue centers, peach parrot tulips, ivory peegee hydrangea, old fashion peach garden roses, tiny grey twigs and organic cotton branches etc. accented with votive candles. All flowers were loose and airy looking. Earthy vintage looking.

Winter Celebration ~ Park City, Utah ~ From Soiree Productions

For all you up-and-coming winter brides, this one’s for you!

photography by Nick Sokoloff

I lovvvvvvvve that first shot … so sweet ~ so magnificent!

Sarah and Michael took their shared love of the snow to a whole new level …

from soiree productions in utah …

This bride and groom decided to celebrate their wedding in Park City, Utah. Both are from San Francisco but the bride grew up skiing in Deer Valley while the groom grew up snowboarding in Tahoe. She a skier and he a snowboarder ~ they embarked on a perfectly themed winter celebration with a customized logo. The guests escort cards resembled lift tickets; widget and all!

The bride and groom wanted to be sure to share the fresh snow with their guests. Everyone either skied or snowboarded throughout the weekend. Some guests went snowshoeing and others toured the area on a horse and sleigh. The week leading up to the wedding brought lots of fresh snow then magically the sun shined making it easy to travel. It was important to the bride and groom to share the place they call home when they can sneak away from the busy life-style they lead in San Francisco.

Married under a chuppah, their marriage was blessed in front of 280 of their closest friends who traveled to this snowy destination.

The evening was elegant with a four-course dinner and live music. The ballroom was decorated in navy blue and copper accents. The beautiful floral decor from StellaPosy kept things chic and simple; a lounge lamp surrounded by white and yellow parrot tulips, peonies, and blue hydrangea. A few aspen logs and lots of candle light topped off the tables to ensure the “rustic elegance”.

This ski inspired celebration captured the bride and groom’s love for each other, Park City, and winter.

Rustic Utah Wedding

Escalante, Utah – population 818. Well, make that 918 when this happy wedding brigade rolled into town. This shindig is proof that ballrooms and fancy bouquets do not a wedding make. Sometimes love and a fire-pit are all you really need to throw one super duper party. Of course, an awesome photographer like Chris Richards never hurts. And can we please talk about that ultra pretty wedding gown? The bride had her Grandmother’s graduation dress reworked by a designer in Portland. Oh how I LOVE that. This is just a snippet of Leah and Brian’s wonderful day but definitely check out the gallery for more rustic goodness.

{Click here to see the FULL wedding gallery}

Leah and Brian had a fun filled 4-day event that began with a hoedown and bonfire, bridal brunch and wedding & reception with over a 100 guests traveling to the very small and remote town of Escalante, UT.

The groom is from the East Coast and the bride’s family is originally from Oklahoma but moved to Escalante a few years ago to run the Escalante Outfitter. Brian & Leah had met and fell in love in Flagstaff, Arizona but were living in Portland, OR at the time. Their mutual love of the southwest and strong ties to family made the choice of their venue easy.

Leah knew she wanted to be married on her parent’s property with the Grand Staircase as their backdrop. The reception took place on their neighbors property in an old pole barn-rustic elegance was the theme! She had her grandmother’s graduation dress reworked to make her wedding dress – a photo of her grandmother (who could not attend) sat on the sign-in table which was an old roll top desk we pulled from the house. Wooden signs were hand painted on old barn wood giving directions to the event. We hung Chinese lanterns across the ceiling of the barn, panels of fabric lined the back of the tent walls we had to put on the back of the barn to cut down on the wind and rain. Old horse troughs housed kegs of beer, and soft drinks. The tables were family style and we used white linens with burlap as table runners, rocks and Utah sand were also incorporated in the décor. Bright orange proteas added a touch of elegance and color. A traditional wedding cake was served along with homemade cakes made by their families. We pulled rustic furniture around a newly constructed fire-pit, making small tables out of logs decorated with sunflowers in mason jars brought over from the ceremony. Pillows were made out of old American Clay bags (the traditional wall treatment in the area) to line the benches.

Port-a-Potties are always a challenge at remote venues. We constructed a frame to hang fabric from so that you could not see them from the barn. We draped fabric around the front and set up a cute table with old suitcases filled with mints, hand sanitizer and of course extra t.p.

Although the location was very remote and the weather challenging, the weekend was nothing less then magical!

Sundance Wedding by Jonathan Canlas, II

Fall is officially my favorite season. And with new rings that showed up under Christmas trees, I am thinking that there are a lot of you that are going to start planning perfect Fall affairs…full of cozy details and a warm, intimate style. So when I spotted this Jonathan Canlas wedding, it was a total no brainer. I got the full wedding in my inbox last night and it’s already up on SMP now. That’s kind of what happens when I fall in love with a wedding like this. Plus, it was held in Sundance which seems like a little piece of heaven, it had GORGEOUS flowers that had that fresh from the garden style and the bride and groom seem to be madly in love. Kind of a win, win all around.

We tried to bring the outdoors inside the Rehearsal Hall for a rustic, woodsy look, which we accomplished by using natural materials, live herbs, trees, & leaves, and by making many of the decorations and details by hand. I made the invitations and programs, Joel and I made the CD favors, and my amazing aunt was the florist and handcrafted all of the table designs (boxes with herbs & flowers, wooden sconces and twig wreaths filled with flowers and moss, leaf and bark-wrapped candles, etc). We hired Kellie from Artisan Bloom to design & implement the perimeter of the Rehearsal Hall and to bring in the barn & carriage lanterns hung at various heights with candles inside. My mother & I worked together to come up with a vision of how we wanted it to look, and then she surprised us by taking that vision further than we could have imagined–walking into that spectacular room after the ceremony, with all the candlelight, illuminated trees, herbs, and all of our loved ones was one of the most amazing moments of the day.

I loved how the details made each table different and how they really gave the sense of the outdoors being brought in. The lanterns were beautiful, as was everything down to the herbs in the napkins! Kellie made this amazing monogram out of bound willows for the stone fireplace…We also loved the fire pits and benches outside, and of course the photo booth (which my my mom surprised us with).

Sundance Wedding by Jonathan Canlas

Whenever Jonathan Canlas sends us something, well…we just know that it is going to be good. Today’s wedding is Fall inspired perfection, set in the picture perfect town of Sundance. The style is a little bit rustic, a little bit elegant with details that just blend seamlessly into the space. Something that every couple should strive for when designing their wedding style. And although the ceremony itself is outdoors, the reception was held inside a perfect little barn that captured the essence of the rustic chic vibe flawlessly.

Oh and Jonathan. Well, he blew it out of the park with images that are simple, crystal clear and so vivid that you might actually believe you are right there with the couple. Love that.

We knew we wanted our wedding to be an outdoors, nature-oriented experience, which Sundance lends itself to so well. For the ceremony we needed little more than the mountains and a few flowers. I had originally wanted an outdoor, picnic table reception, but the weather in October makes that more or less impossible–when we saw the barn-like Rehearsal Hall, though, with the stream and woods outside, we loved it.

The day was was composed of special contributions from so many people. We loved that the ceremony was completely unique and created by us and our loved ones; we loved that nature was so central to it all. Surprising everyone with our musical number on the guitars was one of our favorite moments.

And if you are loving the details…Jonathan actually held a 1 on 1 photography workshop with Shannon Renee and Shannon is the talent behind some of the absolutely darling little details. More in just a bit!

Lots more coming up today!!

Sweet, Charming Wedding by Jonathan Canlas, IV

If you are just now joining us, we are devouring the sweetest wedding that the fabulous Jonathan Canlas recently sent us. We featured this couple’s engagement shots a while back on our Little Black Book blog and it was clear that they were madly in love. Much to my delight, the wedding was just as charming, just as lovely!

That cake is a star wars x-wing cake that some of their close friends made for them (adorable) if you can believe it. It’s touches like this one that totally make me smile…to see personality infused all over the place. LOVE.

More on the way!!

Sweet, Charming Wedding by Jonathan Canlas, III

There is something so sweet about today’s first featured wedding. I am LOVING the bridesmaids (seriously, I am including so many bridesmaids pictures here you are going to laugh) and am completely charmed by the adorable bride and groom, the perfect details, the everything really.

Jonathan always sends us the best weddings, but this one…well, it takes the cake!

I also really love that the bride and groom included snapshots of themselves to give their guests a little window into their relationship. Sometimes weddings can get so impersonal and this is such a lovely way to bring warmth and personality into your day. So super cute.

I heart this wedding. It’s pink for one…which ALWAYS makes me happy. Throw in some adorable, vintage inspired bridesmaids, a couple that is totally smitten with each other, and perfect little details that are all about friends and family…it’s a recipe for TOTAL perfection!

I mean, seriously! How cute is this!? here are a few details from Jonathan Canlas, the ridiculously talented photographer behind the event…

Becca & Issac were married this past July at the Bountiful LDS Temple in Bountiful UT.

The reception had ice cream sundae stations for all the guests.  The groom’s cake, a star wars x-wing cake, was made by a family friend (CRAZY!).  The bride’s maids had killer, killer style with a throw back to the swing look.
Issac & Becca met through their church choir.  The saxophonist was a 93 yr old man who had appeared in one of Issac’s documentaries about Odgen UT.  Issac is a film maker and has had a couple of his documentaries on PBS.

We actually featured the couple behind today’s featured wedding on our Little Black Book Blog a few months back, as their engagement session was so stinking cute. Well, lucky for us, their wedding was JUST as lovely with charm oozing out of every corner.

Shot by Jonanthan Canlas, who we LOOOOVE, the first set of photographs was snapped at the pair’s favorite frozen yogurt joint, Nielsen’s Frozen Custard.

Here are some fun details from Shea…

There was a lot of love and DIY that went into this wedding – we made the wreaths that hung outside the barn, ironed tablecloths that my parents brought in their suitcases, strung lights, a friend did my hair, we hand-picked every song played, hung bicycle wheels and giggled along the way making the whole process an unforgettable memory.

At the reception, Syd and I did not worry about a thing and I know our guests could really feel that – we just had fun dancing, chatting with old friends and smiling til our cheeks hurt. We rode off into the night on our cruiser with guests throwing fall leaves into the air – the bottom of my dress is still caked with dirt and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Real Wedding: Shea and Syd, V

I am SO not surprised that you guys are eating today’s wedding up. It’s just that kind of a wedding! The red barn, the twinkle lights, the glowing bride and the adorable groom…every bit of it is just delicious. Well, Shea is a doll and is not only offering up some pretty great details, she’s also stopping by in a bit to share one of her DIY projects with us!

Now, on to the reception…

Duston Todd is the talent behind these ridiculously lovely photographs and I have to say, although a great photographer will make any wedding appear beautiful, I don’t think he had to work too hard to make this one seem completely gorgeous! As a quick sidenote, Duston’s images are some of the most breathtaking photographs you’ll ever see…they literally glow with emotion.

From the gorgeous bride…

The reception was the cozy evening we had hoped for – filled with mingling, comfort food and lot’s of dancing! We had the fireplace going, hor’dourves during a mingling hour, a hot chocolate bar (with our bike logo printed on the mugs which were our favors – a big hit), panini bar for dinner and a dessert bar with ancestors’ wedding photos.

My mother stayed up day and night sewing every tablecloth, overlay and handstitching flowers. The centerpieces were half containers made out of bicycle baskets and the others were actual bicycles. The florist was fabulous and acheived the “glamorous wildflower” look perfectly. We hung lanterns from the ceiling and lights everywhere. Guests signed postcards made from our engagement pictures and put them in a mailbox instead of a guestbook. We also had a photobooth which was great because the little kids (and big kids) found it very entertaining.

Don’t you wish you were at this wedding? It just reminds me of a warm and cozy weekend, filled with great food, really good wine and friends to make you laugh. I love that. The pictures, all shot by the insanely talented Duston Todd, let the true beauty of the day shine and all of the details that Shea crafted to appear as if they came right out of a magazine. Pure loveliness.

So much more to come!

More from Shea, the lovely bride…

I was having my dress made and we all hear those horror stories – well I was one of them. Three weeks before the wedding I had to find a new dress. One day after work I went all over Salt Lake and found a sample dress that fit like a glove and did not even have to be hemmed. I designed this jacket and had it made in 3 days transforming it into the custom look I had been wanting all along. I wore the ban.do for the wedding ceremony and changed it to a purple suede flower for the barn. Syd wore a suit from Zara. Wedding disasters happen, but it all comes together.

So much more to come!
