I can’t quite put my finger on what it is about this wedding that is just SO chic. It could be the neutral color palette that lets Charleston shine. Or maybe it was the bride’s stunning lace gown. Perhaps it was the couple’s son – who just so happens to be the most adorable ring bearer. Of course it could also be the flowers, the cake, the tent, the favors. I could go on and on. Red Letter Events created a perfect day for this couple – so perfect it’s impossible to choose just one favorite detail. Amelia and Dan have come to our rescue though, by packing the gallery full of amazing images for us to gaze at all day!
Randall and I ran in the same circle of friends for about four years and somehow never formally met. I was friends with most of his friends, we went to the same places, did the same things, I believe I even went to his house once (of course he was not there and I did not know it was his house). He was in his last year of Architecture school and I was a senior when we finally did lay eyes on each other at a mutual friend’s birthday party. Needless to say we did not find each other interesting at that point (or at least I didn’t). We started seeing each other more often (his roommate dated one of my good friends). We had a real first date and have been together ever since.
Randall and I were going to see Jack Johnson in Kansas City, MO. We spent the weekend in a beautiful hotel and upon arrival I was presented with presents, roses, and a little bubbly, and of course a gorgeous ring!
We wanted a small wedding, and we thought Charleston would be a great place for everyone to experience. We knew we wanted to be on a plantation and Lowndes Grove had it all. It was close to downtown so there were lots of things to do, but when you are there you feel as if your 100 miles away from everything…….It wasn’t until later we found out it was #2 on the list of destination weddings.
This is where Red Letter Events really came to my rescue. I had a lot of magazines and a lot of things that I liked but really no theme, color, or overall idea. I have a very hard time making decisions so I enjoyed all of the much needed help! I love everything neutral so that was our main color scheme but we added some pops of color with the flowers. I love all things romantic and vintage so I knew I wanted lanterns, long tables, lots of flowers, lace, etc. I wanted it to feel very intimate.
Our one year old son was our ring bearer. He stole the show with his very first step down the aisle. We were so happy he could participate since it really was a day for all three of us. The ceremony was my favorite part. I loved being surrounded by our closest friends and family with the beautiful Ashley River behind us. My brother doing the readings for us was so special and the ultimate for me was walking down the aisle with my new husband and precious baby boy.
