All White Wedding from a Dream Team of Vendors

We are hanging out with our dear friends and crazy talented photographers, The McCunes, for one of the more luxury filled days we’ve ever had here on SMP. The kind of weddings that you see and just wonder in awe at A. how awesome it was for the guests that got to attend and B. what it must feel like to a TOTAL princess (or prince) for a day. There is the stunning bride and her cute groom (and maybe even cuter pup, Stella), BUT there is also a crystal clear dining table filled with antique roses, chandeliers draped in greenery, seriously the most beautiful antique inspired cake you’ve ever seen, OH AND Ali’s mom surprised the couple with Lebanese Dancers who entertained the guests while the musicians played Arabic Music. Then, she provide donuts as a late night snack. I think Ali’s mom and I are already best friends. So enjoy this gorgeous day then head over to insta where there is so much more from McCune Photography!

Ali & Colin met back in high school when her best friend was dating his twin brother. Years later, as Ali and her best friend were always close, Ali and Colin had the chance to reconnect and fell in love.

After several years together, Colin surprised Ali by proposing to her with a room filled with roses and candles while staying in Monarch Beach Resort. The inspiration for their wedding included an elegant & etherial garden feel.

They both wanted to include special touches to their day by including their dog, Stella. She was part of their first look photos together and of course a groom’s cake was made that looked just like her.

Their ceremony took place at a church nearby. After the ceremony, guests headed back to the private estate to enjoy cocktail hour and the reception.

It was beautifully tented and full of lush greenery draping off crystal chandeliers while beautiful garden roses added that special touch to all the tables and decor.

The head table was perhaps the most spectacular design moment … a glass table dressed with glass chargers, linen napkins and soft pink ribbons. Each place-setting had a laser cut golden place card and the florals that lined the table felt romantic and yet modern at the same time. The result was incredible.

Ali’s mom surprised the couple with Lebanese Dancers who entertained the guests while the musicians played Arabic Music. Later, Sidecar Doughnuts were the final surprise as a late night snack for everyone to enjoy.

Luxury Wedding on the French Riviera at Cap Estel

I have to admit that the first time I watched the film that we’re sharing today, I was spellbound. Capturing a full destination wedding weekend and sharing it in under five minutes is a powerful job in and of itself. To condense it into a dramatic highlight film that keeps you mesmerized from beginning to end… is huge. But before you see the film from luxury wedding filmmaker, Chromata Films, take a look at these French Riviera teaser images!

From Chromata FilmsYou see that beautiful picture of the French riviera, with you sailing on a boat looking at the cliffs and the beach nearby, while enjoying the sun and a drink of French wine?

Well, that’s how Tracy and Thomas’s wedding weekend started. They came down from LA to celebrate their love between Nice and Monaco at the beautiful 5* hotel Cap Estel, one of the most incredible spots in the region. Friends and family followed them to celebrate their love, and it could not have been a more beautiful weekend!

Cap Estel hotel was built in 1900, thanks to Frank Harris (friends with Oscar Wilde by the way), who transformed a poor farmland into a majestic 5-star hotel. Its renovation in 2004 led the property to a whole new level of elegance and exclusivity. Not to mention their Michelin chef, Patrick Raingeard, preparing some of the most exquisite food you will ever taste.

Now… We invite you to watch the results of that celebration in a theatrical wedding film highlight! You will travel to and enjoy some exclusive places, beautiful decor and a wedding you will remember for a very long time… Enjoy!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/282219055 600 338]

Can you imagine a better place to get married than the south of France? There are definitely some magical places around, but this one got our heart. Tracy and Thomas really did enjoy their stay there, having so many great moments and sharing the love all around them. The scenery, the bride’s stunning Galia Lahav gown, the incredible decor and wedding planning done by Vanessa from Ultimate Wedding Collection and Catherine from CBSLifestylist, the catamaran tour the day before, everything was absolutely perfect!

After we finished filming, we recognized that we had just witnessed one incredible wedding ~ not only working with some incredibly talented vendors, but with a beautiful and very remarkable couple as well.

Come back tomorrow to our Little Black Book Blog  ~ same time ~ same place… for  a Sunday Afternoon Matinee and another wedding film from Chromata Films!

The 10 Commandments to Having a Budget-Friendly Wedding YOUR WAY.

Planning a wedding is stressful on SO many levels. From living up to the Pinterest wedding in your dreams to finding the YOU in a world (and a blog) that is awash in classically styled weddings (that often look like they cost a million dollars). So today, we’re sharing a wedding with a couple that managed to do just that. To use their relationship, their culture, their first loves as a framework for planning a day that felt uniquely “them.” Photographed by our sweet and talented friends, the vondy’s, we have an interview with the bride followed by the Ten commandments to having a budget friendly wedding while preserving what is most important.

Hey Amy! What was your vision for the wedding day?

We wanted a classy, yet casual day that really reflected our personalities and style. We wanted to feel comfortable and we wanted our guests to have fun and get to know each other as many, including family, were meeting for the first time. Ultimately we wanted it to feel like we were hosting our best friends and family at a dinner party in our home.

What was your color palette?

Navy & Berry Pink with vintage gold accents

What unique moments or DIY elements did you include?

One of our best friends performed the ceremony which made it very personal and intimate with a little bit of humor that wasn’t forced. My husband’s family is from New Orleans so we surprised them with a NOLA style second line recessional complete with parasols and waving hankies and they played through cocktail hour – it was the perfect kick start to the party.

What was your favorite moment on your wedding day?

My favorite moment was breaking the rules and walking down the aisle together as a couple – it was hugely symbolic for us of the partnership we were entering together.

My husband’s favorite moment was the jazz band surprise and the delicious BBQ dinner!

From the vondy’sAmy wanted to incorporate her husband’s New Orleans culture into their day, so she surprised him and all the guests with a brass band after their ceremony! All the guests were given hankies to wave as they passed by. Navy blue and gorgeous floral details lined their long dining tables for their BBQ dinner. Complete with milk and cookie bar plus a red MG getaway car!

MORE from Amy…Our venue had an amazing outdoor garden that was begging for lawn games and were were lucky enough to have friends capable of building and painting (with your invitation flower motif) a custom corn hole game and Jenga blocks.

We served signature cocktails, a southern BBQ buffet and our favorite dessert – cookies & milk. We borrowed a friend’s vintage red MG as our getaway car!

What is one piece of advice you could give to future couples?

Other than choosing photographers that you love – you spend a lot of time with them during the day! Let’s see…

Our second best advice is to spend a lot of time thinking about and touring venues and invest as much of your budget as you can in choosing the right one for you. It sets the tone for everything and serves as the backdrop for the rest of your planning – from decor to tablescapes to flowers to party flow, everything!

I love old homes, preppy style and vintage decor – we found that perfect mix in our venue and it made styling and planning the day so much easier!

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS TO HAVING A WEDDING YOUR WAY

(while staying on budget)

Thou shalt begin and end with your venue.

The venue is everything. If you have a clear vision in your mind of jenga and maragaritas, a hotel ballroom is NOT going to support said vision. Finding the right venue, and finding it very early in the planning process, will allow you to save money on decor, find a gown that really fits the look, hire vendors who are familiar with the space, and build a wedding that makes sense financially and aesthetically.

Thou shalt enlist the help and expertise of friends.

Most of my friends and family WANTED to help me with my wedding. But I was such a control freak that I graciously declined. Wrong move. Whether you ask friends to build you a corn hole game like Amy did above, officiate your wedding, hand out favors at your reception, make sure people get on the right bus, do a reading, sing a song, tend to your grandmother…I promise they will not only be happy to help, they will feel like they are so much more a part of the day. AND Your wedding will innately more personal while saving money in the process.

Thou shalt break the rules.

You know, so many of our wedding tradition are incredibly dated and rooted in ideas that are no longer even relevant. Ditch them! Do what YOU want to do. Make the day yours and arm yourself with confidence and excitement, letting go of anything that will make you nervous or anxious. Amy and her hubs ditched tradition and walked down the aisle hand in hand. The perfect beginning to their own unique marriage.

Thou shalt include your true loves. And we don’t mean boys.

Even if your true loves are BBQ and Tequila. There are so many ways to put your own personality stamp onto your day…the menu, the colors, the town your marry in, the venue, the songs, the entertainment, the tradition. Maybe you get ready for the day together, rather than apart. Maybe you hit the courthouse solo and then throw a party after. Maybe you skip down the aisle waving ribbon wands or stop mid-ceremony to sing All You Need is Love…you do you boo.

Thou shalt make FUN a requirement.

I can’t guarantee sunshine or guests that behave but I can guarantee you this: if you build a wedding that is foundationally fun, you will always remember it as the best day ever. For me? Fun means good food, a great playlist, lots of dancing, tons of sweets and some good ole fashioned alcohol. You?

Thou shalt borrow and beg, though thou shalt not steal. Otherwise known as the Friends and Family Round.

Whether you borrow a car like Amy did or you borrow a backyard like other SMP brides have done, don’t be afraid to ask your friends and family before you rent or buy. Mismatched white linens from friends (just take pics before so you know what belongs to whom), lanterns to grace the walkway, candles to set on tables, little black dresses for your bridesmaids, oversized lawn games (mine have been borrowed a dozen times)…the options are endless.

Thou Shalt celebrate your culture.

The thing with weddings is that they are ultimately designed to bring two families together. Let us not forget that. And families often come from beautiful, storied cultures that deserve to be celebrated even if it’s only in some small way.  Amy brought in a second line to celebrate her husband’s New Orleans heritage. Perhaps just including a dessert from your own background. Or readings or songs or a menu inspired by one of your cultures. It doesn’t take much… but the impact is so meaningful.

Thou shalt consider how you want your wedding to FEEL not look.

We all want to host a beautiful wedding. But I’ve been to a handful of spectacular weddings that also happened to be spectacularly boring and without character (I’m not naming names). Amy wanted her wedding to feel like a really special family dinner. I met another bride recently who just wanted it to feel like really fun dance party (and that it did!). Build from the feels not from the looks and the entire day will be much more successful.

Thou shalt think inside the box but with the lid off and the music playing.

From the venue you choose to the color of gown you wear. From the food you serve (pizza anyone?) to the music you play. From the time of day or day of the week or season of the year. From the way you choose to walk down the aisle to the way you choose to spend your money. We once met a pair that was holding their reception at a Magic Dinner Theater. Show included. Pretty freaking awesome, right? That said, stay a bit inside the box. When you get a little too crazy with creativity, sometimes your budget is the one to suffer the consequences.

Thou shall find experts to help and if they can’t…#DIY for the win.

Let me first debunk a common wedding planning myth: it’s cheaper to DIY everything. WRONG. Sort of. While some areas may allow you to save money, you’re not placing any value on your time at all. Or the stress that taking on a lot of projects in the days leading up to your wedding will cause. Putting together flower arrangements the night before, instead of cuddling with your soon-to-be or frantically tying program ribbons while a makeup artist is trying to get you to sit still. Not my idea of fun. First, ask your experts.

Planners can save you tons of money in mistakes that novices make. Florists can work around your budget and if they can’t, they will TELL you. A good stationer or photographer or cake designer will give you honest feedback as to whether or not they can achieve what you want on your budget. When it comes to the major components of your wedding, start with the pro’s and give them a chance…and only if you get a no (or if you’re really pumped about doing it yourself) should you then start down the DIY road. Save the projects for the minor players: the favors, the welcome bags, elements of decor that you can then move into your home after the i-dos.

Breathtaking Engagement Session in the Dolomite Mountains

There are two kind of major things about this stunning anniversary shoot. First, that backdrop. The Dolomite Mountains. Holy gorgeous. Sidenote – while it’s actually in Italy, you can totally find prettiness here too that has the same vibe (think Telluride, Ojai Asheville, Montana) . And two. That red dress. I’m obsessed and currently scouring the interwebs to find one just like it (some good ones here). CabLook Photography is here today, round two (round one can be read here) taking over the blog and instagram and this Anniversary Session turn photos for the couple’s Christmas Cards is as beautiful as it gets.

This anniversary shoot took place in one of the most breathtaking places on the planet – the Dolomite Alps in Autumn! While the backdrop was spectacular, the love of the couple was warming up every single square centimetre of the fields around and made the pictures more beautiful than ever.

When you look at all this beauty you remain speechless. And I feel really blessed that I have a chance to work with couples whom have amazing and pure love alongside a marvelous landscape.

They also did a nice thing during the shoot that more couples should mimice…they planned their outfits for potential Christmas cards that they could send out in just a few months. To have options, they went with a more cosy and casual one then one with a floor length red dress (exactly these pictures they used then for cards!). I can only imagine what a WOW effect it made when their dearest and nearest received them!

And share in Kimberly and Stephen’s joy in this brief glimpse into their wedding day from fine art cinematographer, Willow Tree Films

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/291944304 600 338]

This wedding celebration is a dream. From these gorgeous images, you can see that the ballroom seriously sparkled ~ from one end to the other! And the flowers? In ever corner, on every surface, sensational florals adorned the room.  This was a day that truly exhilarated our wedding-lovin’ hearts.

From the couple… Our wedding at Park Chateau Estate was an elegant garden, black-tie affair, that took place on a perfect sunny summer day. The spectacular chateau-style venue inspired many of our decor decisions.

We had our sweetheart table place directly in front of the fireplace. Every inch of both were covered in flowers. A truly romantic feel us as the Bride and Groom!

There were many special touches that made our wedding, “ours”. One thing that was important to us was to  incorporate a special Bridge in NJ that we came across. It was a line, a special line, that marked New Jersey and Pennsylvania merging. Since Stephen is from New Jersey and Kimberly is from Pennsylvania, it was a special spot that the two of us shared. So, for our wedding favors, we printed wine labels with this very NJ/PA line to share with our guests.

Another very special thing that we did during our reception was to sneak out and catch the sunset, alone. Time stood still… as we re-danced our first dance, as husband and wife.

When the night ended, the our bridal part and families held sparklers for our sparkler exit. You can tell by the expressions on our faces just how wonderful our wedding day was!

All Out Romance at a Villa Overlooking Lake Como

When the Groom sets his sights on the perfect wedding venue before he even proposes, you just know that spot has got to be drop dead gorgeous. And Villa Balbianello does not disappoint. This Italian celebration planned by Happy Moments Collector, with florals by Figli dei Fiori and photographed by Thecablookphotolab has way too many gorgeous images to count. See for yourself right here.

Italy has always been special to us; a place to share new experiences, celebrate happy moments, and expand our waistlines! For all of these reasons, we were never in doubt that this was the perfect place to gather our closest family and friends and share our first days as husband and wife (in fact Alex had actually chosen the wedding venue before proposing). In the months before our wedding, we fell even more in love with this beautiful country and all of the wonderful people who helped to bring our vision to life. Our wedding week was planned and curated as we went along, influenced by the beautiful ideas coming from the vendors of Lake Como and a hybrid of Italian, English, and Danish traditions gathered from members of the bridal party. We knew the scenery would speak for itself, so we focused on highlighting it with a relaxed and intimate atmosphere planned entirely outdoors. Anastasia and the Happy Moments Collector team helped us to bring those details together perfectly – paring back the traditional concept of wedding décor, and helping us instead to get a natural and rustic vibe through a combination of beautiful foliage, candles and a spotlight on incredible Italian food!

From Anastasia (wedding planner of Happy Moments Collector)We will always remember that beautiful and warm wedding at the end of May that was filled with happiness, sun, love and smiles. Civil ceremony was planned to be at one of the most spectacular villas of lake Como – villa Balbianello. We even didn’t plan any decor because it is beautiful as it is with it’s loggia, gardens and breathtaking views. Guests arrived to the villa by boat, Alex and Toria arrived on different wooden boats together with their parties. After the ceremony has finished, everyone moved to the other villa to start enjoying rich Italian aperitif. Dinner area was prepared with wooden rustic tables together with a greenery runner and lots of candles. I really liked the idea of the couple to put photos instead of the seating cards. It looked so unique! We have also made mix of one style but different color underplates that was just perfect for the atmosphere. Toria and Alex and their family and friends made so touchy speeches that all of the team was crying. Italy is surely about weddings, but only sincere couples and their friends around can make it truly unforgettable.

Baby on the Way? Try This 15 Minute Total-Body Workout

On the hunt for a simple and safe prenatal workout? The ladies of Tone It Up have you covered. With a baby girl on the way, Katrina is dishing on the perfect moves to keep you healthy and strong durning pregnancy, or anytime really. Those side plank crunches are NO JOKE, baby or not. Follow along as Katrina shows you a routine for total body sculpting that is safe during all three trimesters and only takes 15 minutes to boot.

TOTAL-BODY PRENATAL WORKOUT

Repeat the following circuit 2-3 times for a total-body sculpting routine that’s safe during all three trimesters. Rest for 60 seconds (or as much as you need!) between circuits, and be sure to take water breaks as needed, too.

Squat + Press

Stand with feet hip-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder height. Keeping your chest up and core engaged, lower into a squat position — booty back and thighs as close to parallel to the ground as possible. Driving though your heels, come back up to standing as you press the dumbbells overhead.

Do 15 reps.

Tabletop Booty Lift

Start on your hands and knees, and extend your right leg straight behind you, toe resting lightly on the ground. With your back flat and core engaged, lift your right leg up to hip height then lower.

Do 15 reps, then switch sides.

Side Plank Crunch

Start in a modified side plank position propped up on your left hand with your left (bottom) knee on the ground and right (top) leg extended out straight. Reach your right arm directly overhead. Bring your right elbow to meet your right knee as you engage your obliques. Return to start position and repeat.

Do 15 reps, then switch sides.

Reverse Lunge + Curl

Begin standing with feet together, holding a dumbbell in each hand at your sides. Engaging your core, step your right foot back, and lower until your legs are bent at 90 degrees, and back knee is hovering just above the ground. At the same time, curl the dumbbells up to your chest. Come back up to standing by stepping the right foot forward and lowering the dumbbells back down. Repeat on the other side.

Do 15 reps on each side.

Single Arm Row + Tricep Kickback

Begin with your left foot in front of the right, left knee slightly bent, and left hand resting on your left thigh. Hold a dumbbell in your right hand, arm extended toward the ground. Row the dumbbell up to chest height, keeping your elbow tucked closely to your side, then extend your arm straight behind you. Reverse the motion back to start position.

Do 15 reps, then switch sides.

Why it’s OKAY to “Do You” on Your Wedding Day

As legend has it, traditionally “bridesmaids” were meant to protect the bride from those trying to steal her dowry while walking through the groom’s neighborhood. And they wore similar or identical attire so as to confuse the evil spirits. The best man was meant to ensure that the bride didn’t escape during the ceremony. He was chosen because of his strength and capability rather than his relationship to the groom. So yeah. Times have changed. And yet we truly are still beholden to tradition despite not really knowing the “why” behind it. So, here’s a thought. What if we changed things up a bit. If instead of getting ready with the girls, she woke up beside him. Instead of drinking champagne or taking shots with the guys, he lovingly helped her get ready, gave her kisses throughout the day and got to hold her hand when she saw herself in a gown on the day she would be married. That is what Joy Proctor and April Baytan – with photographs by Amanda Wei – had in mind when they designed this shoot. And the result is so romantic, so beautiful and so inspired.

With this design I wanted to tell the story of the modern day couple and celebrate the inspiring love story of two individuals who have found intimacy, solitude, and joy in one another. The goal was to achieve a design which gave insight into a modern couple’s lifestyle and how their uniqueness and the life that they built together could translate into an elegant wedding design.

For this shoot I wanted to showcase a couple that was independent of traditional gender roles and pair a bride that was bold, beautiful, and stylish with a groom that is charming, kind, and nurturing.

When selecting a color palette, I chose various shades of gray to represent the strength and commitment of the couple and paired it with shades of white, ivory, and blush to represent the femininity, softness, and romance I envisioned the loving groom to bring out in his more daring bride.

Similarly, various textures illustrated the same juxtaposition with bold textures found through the slate, marble and stone vessels and velvet La Tavola Linen…

…then softened by adding a light and airy tulle Liz Martinez dress provided by Kinsley James Couture Bridal, silk Frou Frou Chic ribbon, and romantic calligraphy on the invitation and paper goods provided by The Idea Emporium and Plume Calligraphy.

We began with the bride and groom waking up together in each other’s arms followed by their individual moments of self care before getting ready for their big day. The simple ceremony comprised of sleek silver chairs provided by Theoni and were paired with beautiful lush aisle arrangements.

For the tablescape, clean modern tableware provided by Thoeni complimented the chic personal style of the couple and also served as the perfect setting for the New American/California cuisine created by Feast & Fest and memorable cake by Pretty Please SF.

Every detail and intimate moment from beginning to end was captured so beautifully by Amanda Wei Photo who truly brought to light the beauty of a design inspired by love and life.

Thank you so much to Joy Proctor and her incredible team of artists for sharing this beautiful day with us!

Intimate Vancouver Wedding Ceremony in Queen Elizabeth Park

From the Wedding Planner, Honour & Blessing EventsDorothy and Eric reside in New Jersey but decided to celebrate their love story in Vancouver ~ on the lush grounds of Queen Elizabeth Park. They had always dreamed of having an intimate ceremony, surrounded by nature with their closest friends and family. Wild Rabbit Flowers created a breathtaking arch tht included real apples as accents to the overall palette of creams and greenery. This beautiful day was captured by the talented Nadia Hung Photography….

After the ceremony, the couple had their reception at Seasons in the Park. They wanted to bring elements of the outdoors inside, so Wild Rabbit Flowers created a floral chandelier. With stunning views of downtown Vancouver, the couple continued their celebration with a lunch reception.

To bring a touch of elegance and a modern flair, we incorporated gold finishes on the charger plates and the flatware. The stationery also incorporated a lot of clean lines and unique details to continue the monochromatic tones and modern elegance.

See more of the wedding celebrations that Honour & Blessing have orchestrated on their site, blog and of course, on Instagram!

Four Seasons Dubai Middle Eastern Celebration

I’ve seen it written so many times…you’re wedding is about you. In face, I’m pretty sure I’ve written that very saying myself a dozen or so times on Style Me Pretty. But you know what? It’s only half true. While yes, your wedding is a celebration of you and your beautiful relationship and that should be at the helm of so many of your decisions, your wedding is also about the people that make you…YOU. Your friends, your families coming together, your place within your own beautiful life and the people that surround it. And this celebration – planned by The Purple Chair and photographed by Maria Sundin – gets to the very heart of why family and friends are such an integral part of your big day. And don’t miss the GOR.GEOUS. invitations by Pret-A-Papier. Stunning (to say the least).

The beautiful Persian bride and groom, had their heart set out on a classic timeless wedding. With Dubai as their base, a melting pot of culture and tradition, they chose to keep the décor feminine and soft. The Four Seasons hotel in Dubai was the beautiful backdrop for their celebration. The guests dined in the lovely lush gardens of the newly opened hotel overlooking the beach.

Prêt à Papier created a stunning invitation suite for the couple that captured the floral and feminine theme perfectly. The invitations were in a delicate blush tone, with off-white roses and green foliage. The Main invitation was coupled with an information card detailing dress codes, timing and other social details. The couple had their monogram created in Arabic calligraphy and chose a beautiful Persian font for the text. Again, a combination of English and Arabic hinted at the blended ceremony.

We loved the vibe of this affair. The couple was all about their entourage, their friends. They both are truly the happiest when surrounded by their closest friends and likewise, it was their friends that brought as much to this day as they did. During the couple photos, the whole bridal party gave so much positive energy with Persian singing in the background. The atmosphere was amazing.

In the Middle East, the couple doesn’t have a traditional western ceremony where you walk down the aisle, but rather make a grand entrance during the dinner reception when all guests have arrived. For this beautiful couple’s wedding, all of their friends stayed with them until the entrance and they all entered together as one big happy entourage.

The Purple Chair wedding planning company worked closely with the couple to design a romantic intimate setup and bring their ideas to life. Sparkling candle lights filled the dinner tables to create this romantic atmosphere and lush flowers were used for a rich garden look. The palette was a romantic white and green combination adorned with crystal accessories and off-white accents. Edison bulbs lights hung above the dinner tables which created a dreamy, ethereal effect.

Maria Sundin beautifully captured the wedding details and unforgettable moments shared by family and friends.

Wente Vineyards California Wedding with Sweet Style

This is the style of wedding that gave SMP a name in the world of weddings. Classic but romantic. chic but approachable. And while we celebrate so many styles of wedding – from modern to multicultural, from classic to whimsical – it’s this attainable elegance that gives us all of the nostalgic feels. Photographed by Alicia Mink with planning by Perfectly Poised and STUNNING florals by Gavita Flora – you will fall in love with this absolutely beautiful affair.

Taylor and Jesse met when Jesse moved to Knoxville, TN to start working for Pilot Flying J . She was an intern in their direct sales department. Taylor and Jesse were jokingly advised to stay away from each other by their boss – that obviously did not work very well. Jesse reached out to Taylor a couple weeks later to see if she knew of anything going on that weekend. They met up to hang as friends and quickly realized they had something special.

Jesse asked Taylor to marry him while they were back in Knoxville for Christmas 2016.

Taylor and Jesse’s wedding was not only stunning but filled with lots of heartfelt moments and laughs. I really love when couples can laugh and have fun together – it really shows in their photographs! I love that they did truly enjoy every moment of their wedding and soaked it all in.

Taylor and Jesse wanted their wedding to have a classic outdoor feel with lots of florals and greenery. The winery itself has the most amazing grounds with lots of greenery, only adding to the stunning florals by Gavita Flora.

The color palette filled with lots of neutrals and blush was the perfect fit for a light, outdoor, tented wedding. When it comes to personal style, Jesse rocked a deep navy tux from The Black Tux while Taylor opted for a simple (yet stunning!) Modern Trousseau gown. I also enjoyed Taylor’s Vera Wang bridesmaid dresses – the grey/blue is absolutely gorgeous!

Ristorante Del Cambio ~ Italian Wedding Romance in Turin

Italy. A land filled with incredible history, indelible charm and a beauty that will capture your heart forever. It’s on almost everyone’s bucket list… and if it’s not, it should be.  From the rustic countryside to the old world elegance of such remarkable cities as Turin, Italy offers it all. Today, we’ll share some destination wedding inspiration that we hope will remind you of that history… the elegance and artistic expression gathered together by a team of wedding pros weaving the past with the present in a rich and luxurious way. Designed by Chiara Viarisio and captured by Pure White Photography , this shoot takes you to a time and a place that will leave you wanting for more.

From wedding planner, Chiara ViarisioToday I would like to tell you about an unusual marriage… a marriage celebrated between the beauty of art and the romance of a wedding setting. The location we chose for this union was Ristorante Del Cambio in the centre of Turin. We organize weddings all over Piedmont, but I have a special bond with Turin, my hometown, which I adore because of its refinement and great variety of architectural styles.

Our bride’s dress was selected to harmonize with the details of the overall setting. It is from Elena Pignata’s collection and is elegant and refined, with precise and determined lines. It has some of the Turin-based fashion designer’s trademark features, such as a wide mikado skirt and a lace corset. The bride’s look is completed by a special circlet created by Cristina Signorina using an antique crafting technique. The minute flowers are made of ceramic and then individually dipped in virgin beeswax.

The first photographs of our bride and groom, together, were taken in Carignano Square, with the building of the Senate as a backdrop. The groom also wore an Elena Pignata suit, with details in line with the colour scheme of the event, a maroon bowtie and a floral item in the breast pocket. To further enhance the look of the wedding couple, the jeweler Giverso designed the cufflinks worn on the groom’s tailor-made shirt and the jewels that made the bride ever more beautiful.

The venue, enhanced by 19th-century decor and furnishings, hosts works by Pistoletto, Gamper, and Patkin. The essence of this historic restaurant can be summarized in three keywords: memories, style and innovation. The ornaments and decor create a sumptuous atmosphere steeped in history. Our team knew that Del Cambio would be the perfect spot for inspiring couples who love vibrant color and rich details.

To complement this combination of historic charm and innovative elements, we used marble tables, with wonderful stemware and china. Pink, magenta, and green were key colours of the floral displays. Everything worked together to enhance the distinct character and warmth of the room… the intense shades, fit perfectly with the walls of the hall and a sense of solemnity and sophistication was present in each and every detail. The gold hues of the candleholders, glasses, and under-plates, together with the other colours chosen for the setup, created a harmonic whole that perfectly matches the ambience of Del Cambio.

The underplates designed by Izhar Patkin deserve a special mention. Patkin, a New York-based artist originally from Israel, has been working on the concept of “ruins”: objects and creatures that are at risk of disappearing from reality and that the artist wants to save through his creative re-elaboration. As part of his collaboration with the famous French porcelain manufacturer, Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, Patkin completed a unique project for Del Cambio: 150 plates “discarded” by the producer due to slight imperfections were hand-personalised by the artist with references to the name and history of the restaurant.

A French Backdrop, an Oscar de La Renta Gown and Peonies for Days…

If I had a wedding wish list, or a wedding bucket list of some kind, I’m pretty sure that this gorgeous celebration would far exceed anything I could ever imagine. Let’s just look at the basics: An Oscar de la Renta Gown to die for, a French backdrop complete with an Eiffle Tower and white peonies as far as the eye can see by the renowned floral designer Esther La Marche. Now, let’s add in a couple so clearly in love, a ridiuclously adorable flower girl and ring bearer, the most aesthetically stunning design pulled off by planners Vannessa & Caroline you’ve ever seen, oh and a handful (or a hundred) of the most lovely images from Oliver Fly. Just make sure to scroll to the end to watch the absolutely mesmerizing video from HD Moments. This, my loves, is definitely one for the books.

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning? Why did you choose this wedding venue?

We spent most of our lives in Australia, but currently live in Hong Kong, so we had friends scattered all over the globe. We always knew we wanted a small wedding, with our nearest and dearest in attendance. As there was no real majority of guests from any particular country, we decided a destination wedding would be the perfect excuse for us to have our dream wedding and for our guests to have a European holiday!

We started off by looking at wedding venues in Italy, as we had just gotten engaged in Lake Como. The conversation then drifted to France, and we chose Paris for its accessibility and irresistible French boudoir architecture. The Pavillon de Musique de la Comtesse du Barry (situated just half an hour from Paris) exuded French boudoir in abundance, with salons more beautiful than some chateaus we had seen and a beautiful garden to match.

What was your color palette and your style vision? What unique elements or details did you include?

I knew I wanted soft, muted tones for the wedding, and settled on a colour palette of light dusty blue, gold (to match the beautiful interiors of the Pavillon) and white (to match my feature flowers, peonies). I had always envisioned that I would illustrate and design my own wedding invites, and that it would come in a box! Tapestry Invitation were so wonderful in helping me put this vision to reality. We also wanted something a little different for our guestbook, so I had guests write their messages on acrylic plates (which had our monogram etched on them).

What was your favorite moment? Your favorite detail?

There were a few, but it was probably saying our personalised vows to each other in front of all our closest friends and family. A good friend of ours, who had been there since the beginning of our relationship and spent a lot of time together with us as a couple, also officiated our wedding, so that was really meaningful. Another friend, Karim, was the best emcee we could’ve asked for and really lifted the dinner atmosphere (and dance floor!) in the evening.

Oh, and the fact that our first dance came together without us falling all over each other was a huge relief! Dancing the Vienesse waltz to Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé’s duet of “Perfect” really couldn’t have been more perfect in that beautiful ballroom setting at the Pavillon.

Tell us about your flowers, your gown, your favors, your cake, all of the good stuff.

I ended up changing my mind so many times about my wedding gown. I never thought I would go for a mermaid/trumpet style gown, but the long train and multiple layers of intricate lace on my Oscar de la Renta instantly sold me.

I love peonies, and was lucky enough that it was peony season in May! I also loved dahlias and ranunculus, and knew I wanted a destructured look for our florals. Esther executed our vision beautifully.

The guests took home marble coasters with their names hand lettered by myself, and a luggage tag with our monogram etched in the back (following the destination wedding theme). We also had flats out on the dance floor at night in case our guests got tired.

What is one piece of advice that you would give brides-to-be?

Work out your priorities and invest in them! It wasn’t an easy feat planning a wedding in a foreign country, but our talented Wedding Planner, Vanessa, guided us along the way. She knew I placed a lot of importance on photography, stationery and details, and she could not have recommended a better photographer for our big day.

I’ve told Oliver many times that, short of marrying my husband, he was the best decision I made with regards to the wedding. We liked Oliver so much that we decided to fly him to Santorini during our honeymoon for another shoot! His passion and love for what he does, his creativity and his attention to detail really made a huge difference to our day.

I am a bit of a perfectionist, but I fully trusted Oliver’s aesthetic judgement and knew he would always somehow exceed my expectations. After receiving our wedding photos, I can definitely say that he did! Our videographers, HD Moments, were also great and we loved their unique storytelling style. They combine the perfect amount of cinematography with personal elements, so the video was like a beautiful movie yet so personalised at the same time. So many of our guests commented on how professional and fantastic our team of photographers and videographers were on the day.

Crisp White + Peach and Pink Summer Wedding at Appleford Estate

When we open up wedding submissions, we’re always prepared to see something pretty. We’re alway ready to see happy couples, delightful decor and venues that we’d book for our very own weddings. On the very best of days, though, we open a set of images that puts an enormous grin on our faces from start to finish. This gallery ~ captured by Emily Wren Photography ~ did just that. Aly and Tor’s summer wedding at Appleford Estate isn’t just full of pretty… it’s also loaded with all kinds of joy. The excitement shines through on each and every image. An almost tangible love that deserves to be shared! These days are are the best. Oh… and if your a pup lover, don’t miss their giant of a pup, “Bear”.

More from Emily WrenAly & Tor’s Appleford Estate wedding was filled with lovely moments and personal touches. Elements in cloud grays, sweet pinks, and crisp whites appeared delicate and timeless set against the venue’s lush greenery. Aly’s bridesmaid, Steph, is the boss-babe behind Stephanie B Design and she custom-designed the entire wedding stationery suite, welcome sign, escort cards, and table numbers, adding a layer of personal significance to some seriously elegant pieces! The welcome sign and the invite featured her own watercolor painting of the venue and that graceful lilting script, paired with handsomely debossed silver-gray velvet was so chic!

The bride wore an intricately embellished Berta gown that looked as if it had been plucked from the pages of a fairytale. Paired with soft glowing makeup and a polished chignon that ONLO styled, Aly’s natural beauty was allowed to shine. Throughout the venue, Fresh Designs Flora & Events‘ arrangements of dreamy pink blooms and hanging greenery installations really added to the ethereal feel of the day. The bridesmaids wore fluid, floor-length, pale peach chiffon dresses and the groomsmen wore crisp, oxford-navy suits paired with handsome silver ties.

The ceremony took place beneath a stunning floral arch, set at the water’s edge. Aly and Tor’s handsome pup, Bear, was dressed for the occasion in a dashing collar of greenery. He looked so proud walking down the aisle for the ceremony– clearly he was excited to see his parents tie the knot!

Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a gorgeous summer supper on the estate’s terrace.

As the sun set, Aly & Tor danced into the night surrounded by their friends and loved ones. Truly a picture-perfect summer wedding!

Blending Vibrant Color and Modern Vibes at One Eleven East

Fall is all about rich hues, but that can also mean a bounty of color. Blending a modern aesthetic with vibrant florals by Color Theory Collective, and planning by Kindle & Gather, this inspiration is layered in bright, bold beauty. From the streamlined stationery by Lauren Sterrett, to the hand-painted chocolates by Maggie Louis Confections, there’s so much to love. Get inspired to go bold with color through the stunning imagery by Jenna McElroy

With fall around the corner, we wanted to play with bright, juicy colors, accented with golden fall hues and bring them to life with clean lines, abstract shapes and a contemporary vibe. With the idea of creating a mobile as a ceremony piece planted in our mind from the beginning, we felt that One Eleven East’s Skylight Room would be the ideal setting with it’s white, yet textured walls, original wood floors and a huge beautiful skylight at the center of the room to frame the art piece.

Kindle and Gather began the planning process, reaching out to some untraditional wedding vendors, such as Mckinley Mizar for her hand made minimalist earrings and Maggie Louise Confections for their hand painted chocolates. Working with Maggie Louise Confections was especially a fun addition! They asked for mood boards, color palettes, and wanted details about our inspiration before presenting several design options to us.

It was wonderful watching the details come together the day of the photoshoot- seeing the cut citrus play perfectly with Lauren Sterrett’s invitation suite and menus, the floral we created pair magically with La Tavola’s Tamarind velvet linen and the 10th Collection place setting rentals and chairs punctuate the table design seamlessly.

The soft natural lighting that photographer, Jenna McElroy, utilized accentuated the amazing natural glow that hair and makeup artist, Makenzi Laine, so carefully created. Jenna’s stunning film photography worked wonderfully in softening the bold lines and colors and bringing a beautiful balance in each photo.

Proof That At Home Engagement Sessions Are the Cutest

When you’re relaxed and comfortable, photo shoots are a million times easier. And what better place to feel relaxed then at home? This Palm Springs engagement captured by Cavin Elizabeth is not only the cutest but also a fun peek inside an airy, mid-century modern home decked to the nines. Take the full tour and see even more of these beauties here.

From Cavin Elizabeth… I first met Autumn when I was looking for a hair stylist in San Diego and instantly fell in love with her charisma and talent and have loved getting to know her over the past two years. When she got engaged to Stacy and asked me to be their wedding photographer, I couldn’t have been more excited. Autumn and Stacy are both driven, intelligent, and ambitious women who light up every room they enter. Autumn’s more serious demeanor is balanced out by Stacy’s playful and jokester personality, which had Autumn laughing for most of the session and my camera incredibly happy.

When these beautiful blondes told me they wanted to do their engagement session at their new vacation home in Palm Springs, I knew it was going to be good. Styled by Autumn, their home away from home is gorgeously chic, feminine, and modern – perfectly Palm Springs and totally Instagram-worthy.

Turning an Outdated 80’s Home Into a Little Slice of Heaven

At first glance, you would never guess that Valerie Wheeler’s home used to consist of popcorn ceilings, dark as can be interiors and a mishmash of different flooring. Fast forward to today and it’s all sparkling white kitchen and more than one awesome wallpaper moment. There’s even leopard print stairs(!!!) Step inside this stunning space captured by Krista Jones with even more tucked away in the gallery! Psst..shop Valerie’s entire house right here.

This house was never meant to be a fixer upper, but when my love for interior design became a full blown obsession, this home became my first project.

My husband and I renovated the entire first floor while I was in my last semester of design school. There was no better way to just go for it, other than testing my skills on my own home first!

The rooms were dark and dated with six different types of flooring. But that pales in comparison to all the popcorn ceilings and red brick fireplace straight out of the 80’s. Our so called kitchen renovation, quickly turned into a first floor flip. We took down walls, widened doorways and painted everything white to make the entire space feel bigger and brighter.

Knowing that this house was not going to be our forever home, I had to be very mindful of sticking to a budget. Pairing certain features like high end lighting and honed marble with more affordable cabinets and appliances gave our house that glam factor without breaking the bank!

I wanted our home to be pretty yet approachable, while staying true to my style. Selecting furniture that could actually hold up to life’s everyday messes was huge. Yes, there are stains on my sofa and watermarks on my counters but that just shows that we actually live here.

With three kids and two businesses our lives can get pretty chaotic fast. Being able to come home to a bright, happy space really does something good for the soul. As we prepare to move into our next fixer upper, I will forever think of this house as our young, fun house.

Blueprints on How to Have a Garden Wedding

When I think about Style Me Pretty and the kinds of weddings that we just naturally gravitate towards…they are usually outdoors, filled with soft pretty colors, big beautiful blooms and details that feel both timeless and modern. But, those beautiful al fresco celebration aren’t always as simple as they seem online. So today, we have SUCH a fun treat. An incredible team of wedding pros – Photographer Jasmine Lee, Planner Natalie Choi, Floral Designer Bloomwell & Co, Stationer Isidore & Augustine, Cake Artist A Spoonful of Sugar, along with others listed below – who are sharing their blueprints for hosting a pretty, outdoor Garden style wedding.

From the Vendor Artistry Team: Garden party weddings have a timelessness that will always have a hold on my heart. Lush florals and fresh surroundings provide an abundance of inspiration for design in color palettes, textures, and mood.

Not only was the floral table runner beautiful, but guests would have been greeted by the lovely scent of the foraged honeysuckle, sweet pea, and peonies adorning the dinner table.

1. Stay Seasonal – And Choose Your Season Thoughtfully.

When I think of a garden wedding, I think lush blooms with ruffled petals and delicate flowering branches. Try to plan your wedding between the months of March and May, when these types of florals are the most beautiful! Take advantage of what’s best in season by asking your florist to incorporate the blooms that inspire them the most at the market the week of your wedding. —Natalie Choi Events

2. Be Clear in Choosing a Color Palette.

Garden weddings are supposed to feel like spring – lighthearted, delicate, and fun. Keep those qualities in mind when selecting your color palette. Colors like blush, pale blue, light grey, and champagne make for a great neutral palette.

If you want to go for a brighter spectrum (I call this a “flirty” palette!), you could choose colors like peach, tangerine, pale yellow, and sky blue! —Natalie Choi Events

3. Convey a FEELING to Your Vendors, Rather Than a SPECIFIC PLAN.

Instead of finding a picture online and asking your vendors to recreate it exactly, try giving your vendors the creative freedom to design something that’s a great fit for the specific venue you’ve chosen, and that will reflect you!

It’s always fun when a client describes to me the way they want to feel at their wedding: for example, “sipping on rosé in a rose garden” or “strolling through an olive grove in Tuscany”. —Natalie Choi Events

4. Think About Textures.

Selecting textures that match your environment is so important in creating that garden wedding atmosphere! Although a ballgown with a full skirt is always a tempting choice, for an outdoor wedding, consider choosing a dress made with delicate, lighter materials such as lace or silk chiffon which will catch the light beautifully and be much more comfortable than a heavy gown. Bringing in farm tables or incorporating woven linen textures into your table linens is another great way to add an organic touch to your reception. Natalie Choi Events

5. Plan for the Elements.

Garden weddings are nothing if not entirely beautiful. But even beauty can be disrupted with a high sun is too hot or there are bugs nipping at your guests. Make sure the venue treats the grounds for insects, consider providing pretty spray bottles with non-scented bug spray and parasol for coverage.

Metropolitan Building Engagement Session On The Vintage Prop Floor

We don’t feature a lot of engagement shoots, but when we do, they’re usually incredible. This one, sent to us by CLY BY MATTHEW Photography was seriously too charming not to share! Setting the scene among the vintage props on the third floor of the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City, New York, was pretty much pure genius. With towering 12-ft ceilings and soaring windows, not to mention all of the goodies strewn about, it was beyond perfect for this couple’s antique-loving hearts… which only served to bring out the best shots EVER.

From CLY BY MATHEWGlamorous antique style? You got it! The couple wanted an engagement session that would reflect their personality as well as set the same tone as their wedding concept… which will take place in a warehouse in Brooklyn. They couldn’t have chosen a better spot than the Metropolitan Building.  ~ It’s filled with antiques and rustic vibes, yet it carries an unmistakeable, underlying elegance.
