And with every sun-soaked image from Leo Patrone more beautiful than the last, it’s pretty much a wedding lover’s dream-come-true. But what takes this kind of oh-my-goodness gorgeous to the next level? From the Bride…Dave proposed over a long weekend getaway, during which our families met for the first time, at his parent’s house in Fripp Island, South Carolina.  We had so much fun spending the following days celebrating and sharing our joy with everyone, and we were overwhelmed by this wonderful revelation that our marriage would bring together two families that likely would have been the best of friends even without our relationship as the catalyst.  It was that feeling that set the tone for our wedding day—the overall goal was FUN, but more specifically, we wanted to create something that was unique and authentically us.  Though we live in New York now, neither Dave nor I are from here, so even before we got engaged, we always knew that our wedding would likely be our only chance to get all of our closest friends and family in one place at one time.  Our guests traveled from near and far to celebrate our love, so we knew we had to do our best to give them an experience they wouldn’t soon forget.

One thing we did that I would highly recommend to any bride going through the planning process is choose the vendors early.  We had our venue, photographer, videographer, and florist booked within the first month or so of our engagement, which gave us well over a year to figure out all the little details and ensured that everyone that became part of our “team” was our first-choice vendor.  And a team they became—booking them so far in advance gave us a lot of time to bounce around ideas and collaborate, which solidified our vision and helped make it more coherent.  We also had so much time to get to know them (and they us) that the wedding day itself felt like it was put together by friends, which it truly was.

Leo Patrone, our photographer, lives in Utah but is often traveling to shoot breathtaking weddings around the world, so we felt so lucky to work with him.  He really understood how to capture the natural light and beauty of our venue and our family and friends.  Our videographers, Gilbert Le and his team from Americana Cinema, were so discreet that we almost forgot they were there—this turned out to be a great thing, because everyone was really themselves in front of the camera, and what they created allows us to relive the day, exactly as we experienced it, whenever we wish.  Catherine Johnson, our Wedding Coordinator at the St. Regis, was invaluable—she kept us perfectly on schedule; was so calm when a freak rainstorm blew through while they were setting up (thankfully it passed) that I couldn’t help but stay calm, as well; and had an immediate answer to every last question.  She also introduced us to our band, Party Crashers, who kept everyone on the dance floor from the first song to the last—it was more like a concert than a wedding band!   While I was thrilled with all of our vendors, I was completely blown away by Sarah Winward, our florist.  She truly went above and beyond her floral duties to take on more of a stylist role, and was perhaps the most critical piece of the puzzle in bringing our vision to life.  No idea was too grand or complicated for her; she found a way to make everything happen.  We are so grateful for the wealth of experience our vendors brought to the table and the seamless way they executed everything.  It was beyond our wildest dreams and without a doubt the best day of our lives.

The heart-stopping take your breath away kind of combo. And one that finds its beauty not only in its Utah surroundings but in the flowers by TriFecTa Design and the images by Joey Kennedy along with a film by Oneilove Media that is not to be missed. See so much more right here.

From the bride…My husband, Ben, and I briefly first met through a mutual friend in 2006 before I moved to Boston to pursue a career in politics. Upon my return to Salt Lake two years later, Ben and I happened to enroll in the same GMAT class in preparation to obtain our MBA’s. It was love at first re-sight and we have been attached at the hip ever since. We both decided law school was a better fit and with acceptance to several law schools, we chose to leap into our future together in San Diego, California. Seven months later, Ben proposed during our Spring Break of our first year of law school under a breath-taking Hawaiian waterfall with the glow of morning shining through the trees in the forest. It was absolutely perfect.

For a year and a half we meticulously planned every last wedding detail (while sitting in class) with my mom, florist, and day-of coordinator at the St. Regis. My husband and I aimed to have a white, lush, magical night in a fun environment surrounded by 200 of our dearest friends and family. We chose a Secret Garden theme to our wedding, adding dashes of moss and white and pale pink garden roses everywhere. I still get starry-eyed when I reflect back on the the most perfect day of our lives!

One of our favorite touches was writing our own wedding ceremony and incorporating advice from both of our parents, which made it even more personal and special. Not everything always goes as planned (our trio never showed up for the ceremony) but everything turned out better than perfect and we couldn’t be more happy with the way things turned out.

For the reception we chose to start the celebration by surprising guests with a dancing bear. My husband and I are very silly and quirky and we wanted our wedding to reflect us as a couple (and set the tone for the evening). Everyone got up and danced with us and the bear – it was so much fun and no one could stop talking about it. A major goal of ours was to make sure that our wedding was a celebration. We had a homemade photo booth, a s’mores station, a dessert table (I’ve never seen candy fly faster than they did at our wedding), a floral garden arbor filled with family photos, and a heart-pumping DJ who injected the room with energy! The whole affair was nothing short of magical. We feel so blessed.

Scottish Wedding Inspired Shoot from D’Arcy Benincosa Photography

Oh goodness, I can’t even begin to describe how deeply in love I am with this Scottish-inspired shoot from D’Arcy Benincosa Photography. From the Bride’s seriously amazing fishtail braid to her breathtaking florals from Galleria Floral to every pretty detail Sorella-Sorella placed perfectly – it couldn’t tug at my heart strings harder. Because it simply doesn’t get prettier than this, and you can see just what I am talking about right here.

From D’Arcy Benincosa Photography… For much of my life I have lived in Europe. One of my favorite places to be was in the Scottish Highlands. I read and studied about the rich culture and wanted to bring some of the old traditions to the highlands of Park City, Utah. When I met Amber and saw her stunningly long, vibrant red hair, I knew I had found the perfect Scottish bride. As a photographer who mostly shoots in New York City or Los Angeles, I wanted to reach out and introduce myself to new vendors to create something unique, personable, and with a touch of tradition to showcase our talents. Each vendor has newly come to the Park City wedding market. feel very lucky to call Park City, Utah home for a few months out of each year. It’s cool, crisp, fragrant, and the days are perfect for a destination wedding.

Traditional Scottish weddings are small affairs with customs that include the Maid of Honor washing the Bride’s feet before the ceremony, joining hands together during the ceremony with the clan tartan, toasting with the finest Scotch, eating lots of bread and cheese during the reception, and getting married in the highland groves. The lovely arch was handcrafted and tied together using limbs from the local willow trees. The willow tree leaves were cut fresh that morning and remained green while all the other trees in the mountains were variations of the bride’s red hair. The arch echoed the green of the bridesmaids dresses from Anthropologie, while the furs came from our grandmothers closets.

The hair and make-up inspirations was a simple affair. Lightly crafted braids that could be taken right off an ancient or modern Scottish lassie. The make up was simple, with warm colors and soft highlights. The hand crafted invitations and thank you notes expressed the Scottish phrase for “Many Thanks” by saying “Moran Taing” in delicate calligraphy. The challenge given to the florist was to create a wedding bouquet based off the Scottish thistle (yes, that lovely little flower that has become a very symbol for Scotland herself!). If you look closely you can see the purple/bluish bulb of a plant throughout the flowers in the bouquets and the centerpieces.

This shoot was simply stunning. Each image has a golden glow that is unique to this shoot. The final thing we needed to make this shoot transport us to Scotland was the professional bagpipe player we hired to come and play while we ate and talked and photographed and danced some jigs. The locals of Park City came out from their houses to see the event and the feeling of community that is present in the images is 100% real.

Bridal Ballet Inspiration Shoot from Attention 2 Detail Events

Ballet has been a source of inspiration for me since the day I donned my first tutu, so this shoot dreamt up by Attention 2 Detail Events which happens to combine two of my long time loves – Brides and ballet – is a sure fire winner in my book. What could possible be better than a shoot draped in lace, tulle, amazing style and the perfect amount of gold? I can’t think of much. It makes me want to break out my pointe shoes from yesteryear and do a twirl or two, but instead I think I’ll chassé over to the full gallery for even more of this gorgeous shoot snapped up by Rebekah Westover Photography

From Ashley of Attention 2 Detail Events For this inspiration shoot, I was inspired by the feminine and romantic qualities of a ballet. From the dancers, to the costumes, and the feelings you get from watching one. Girls dream of becoming ballerinas when they are little and also start planning their dream weddings in their heads at the same time. I wanted to fuse both together to create a sophisticated version of a little girls dream ballet inspired wedding. For the tablescape, I wanted to create drama but still keep the light and airy feeling of flowing fabric. I created a chandelier, inspired by the ribbon on a ballet slipper, made out of various shades of gold, pale pinks, and deep pinks using satin ribbon. A gold table number was weaved onto one of the ribbon strands. The table was topped with a pale pink satin linen. Shades of gold and pale pink tulle, inspired by a classic tutu, were placed down the center of the table to act as a runner. Candles, tied with gold sparkle ribbon, were placed down the length of the center of the table. Linen menus, printed in gold ink and with gold hand painted edges, we placed on top of pale pink glass chargers and small round appetizer plates. Gorgeous gold flatware also topped the tables. Small place cards were placed in the fork tines and also had gold hand painted edges.

The centerpiece consisted of two different arrangements made with blush garden spray roses, sweet akito roses, gold tinted seeded eucalyptus, pale pink lisianthus, snapdragons, and reindeer moss. They were placed in vintage gold canisters and topped antique gold candlesticks bases. Gold chivari chairs were decorated with custom floral swags tied on each corner. The swags were made using sweet akito roses, gold tinted seeded eucalyptus, pale pink lisianthus, snapdragons, and gold tinted football mums. Pink and gold tulle and satin ribbon also tied the floral swags and cascaded to the floor.

A gold antique cake stand held the wedding cake. We wanted to keep the delicate ballet feel so instead of a traditional wedding cake we incorporated a three tier vanilla and raspberry crepe layer cake. Each layer was made with 30 crepes, alternating between vanilla mousse filling. It was topped with fresh raspberries and drizzled with fresh raspberry puree. The invitations were printed on a linen paper and backed with gold linen cardstock. The tops of the wedding invitations were hand painted in gold and pink shades to resemble a watercolor effect. They were housed by gold envelopes with custom pink address labels. Guests were directed to their seats with small square boxes, tied with pink and gold satin ribbon and gold printed escort cards. The boxes were filled with pale gold tulle that held French macarons in shades of gold and pink, and doubled as the wedding favor.

A Raspberry Bellini was the custom cocktail served for the wedding. The cocktails were served in champagne flutes that sat upon gold chargers. Fresh frozen raspberries, placed in each glass, served as ice cubes. Small ribbon flags, in the coordinating colors, were also placed into each glass. The boutonniere was made using blush garden spray roses, sweet akito roses, gold tinted seeded eucalyptus, and pale pink lisianthus. It was tied with gold satin ribbon. The bouquet was made using blush garden spray roses, sweet akito roses, gold tinted seeded eucalyptus, and pale pink lisianthus and was tied with pink satin ribbon. Cascading strands of gold satin ribbon and pink tulle also hung from the bouquet. An antique gold and pearl broach was fastened to the front of the bouquet to finish the look. The bride wore a stunning short sleeved tulle and lace Rivini gown, with a gorgeous lace neckline and back. Her hair was created with an off center French twist bun. Custom bracelets tied the delicate look together and satin pink ballet shoes finished off the bride’s look. The groom wore a custom dark black suit. A black and white polka dot tie and gold cuff links accessorized his attire for a playful look.

French-Inspired Utah Wedding from Michelle Leo Events

It’s a bright, shiny New Year and we want to ring it in the best way we know how; with a whole slew of perfect affairs and I can honestly say that even though I don’t personally know this couple, their french-inspired wedding has shot to the top of my favorites list. It’s the sweet details, the incorporation of family and loved ones, a moment between the Bride and Groom on a gorgeous hammock that sets this day apart. With the feel of a homegrown affair and the look of styled perfection by Michelle Leo Events, it’s a well rounded day from beginning to end and all captured so perfectly by Alixann Loosle Photography. But all gorgeousness aside, our favorite tid bit is the happy ending that includes a Grandfather making it to the festivities last minute. Go Pappy! See it all right here.

From Michelle Leo Events… Mel and Roman were a sweet, wonderful couple to work with and I had such a blast creating their French Country look. From the textures of the twall and burlap fabrics used, to the cottage-style tables my husband built to accommodate their look, this wedding was simply a joy from start to finish. I fell in love with the little details that Mel was obsessed with using and I’m so glad I was able to design something that brought her French vision to life!

From the Bride… Having an outdoor wedding is always risky, especially when there isn’t an indoor space to escape bad weather. But I knew I wanted to take the risk regardless because Midway is one of the most beautiful spots in Utah. What really sold me on the venue was ‘The Grove’ where the ceremony takes place. It was a magical moment the first visit when we were looking at venues. I knew in my heart it was the place as soon as I stepped foot in the middle of those beautiful trees and stood in front of the wooden arbor. I will never forget it. Creating the invite is what sparked the first butterflies for me because it was the first tangible piece of the wedding design. It was so rewarding to finally see all of my style inspirations merged together in one paper suite. I was inspired by old wooden fruit crates, burlap grain sacks, garden roses, and anything that resembled the French countryside.

With the help of Michelle from Michelle Leo Events, our French Country theme came to life! She incorporated these amazing cottage tables and benches that her husband built specifically for my wedding! Michelle then decorated the tables with simple burlap runners and our florist Amanda created amazing centerpieces in tall French candelabras. She also provided a mix of shorter arrangements in wooden boxes to add that country feel. My sweetheart table included a precious twall bench that currently sits in front of a fireplace at my parent’s house. We even incorporated the twall at the wedding arbor with a gorgeous fabric backdrop. It gave it a simple romance in such a natural setting.

My mother’s parents are the cutest couple that ever hit this planet. I can only hope to be as adorably in love as they are when I am their age with my honey. Instead of grandma and grandpa they are nanny and pappy in my family. My pappy had an eye surgery just before the wedding and said he would not be able to make it to the wedding. When I heard this from my mom it brought me to tears. He is the sweetest man and I don’t get to see him very often. I knew my nanny was coming so I felt grateful in that. On the day of the wedding we had just had the most beautiful ceremony and finished up some pictures. As we came out to our dinner I saw my sweet pappy sitting at one of the tables. He wasn’t in good shape but when he heard how I cried he said he couldn’t miss it. It was a sweet moment that I won’t forget.

Utah Photo Shoot from Jessica’s Photography

With the holidays approaching at record speed, I feel like I am not alone when I say I have tablescapes on the brain. So when I came across this pretty shoot captured by Jessica’s Photography and designed by Dahlia Event Planning, I felt it was only fair to share the prettiness that is this table. Simple, sweet and totally achievable – it’s the perfect shoot to keep your holiday hosting day dreams alive. See all of the pretty inspiration right here!

From Jessica’s PhotographyI had a vision of a wedding that I would like to shoot, so I got together some of my favorite vendors in town and they helped me create the perfect wedding. We chose a private residence for the location of the shoot; the house was a perfect fit. The house is owned by a talented artist, and every detail of the property was immaculate. The inspiration for the shoot came from navy blue and white stripes with coral and gold accents. We went to every antique store to find the perfect decor, we found some beautiful pink depression glass plates, beautiful milk glass vases and some fun pink depression glass vases. I made the linens to fit my vision; the table runner is complete with various sizes of stripes.  This wedding inspiration shoot is perfect for the DIY bride. I made the table from an old door and an old table that we salvaged. The napkins and runner were hand-made. The china was used from a grandmother, along with the dinnerware and glasses. Many of these things can be found in thrift stores or antique stores. We had several set-ups for each place: the first was with the menu and a cute vase with a single flower, the second was a berry tart, and the third was with a scone and berries. I loved how every detail turned out; it was such a fun event to put together.

We’re kicking off the day with this breathtaking Utah ranch affair from Erin Kate Photography.  A glamorous + rustic fête set against a stunning Kamas backdrop, it’s the oh-so-perfect love story (high school sweethearts!) meets the oh-so-perfect celebration, complete with fab DIY details and one of the most amazing Lela Rose gowns you will ever see.  If you’re a lover of natural hues, burlap and beautiful ribbon hanging from the trees, then it’s time to get seriously happy.  Click here for more.

From the Bride… Cooper and I are high school sweethearts. We met 12 years ago on the very first day of boarding school in California. We started dating our senior year and have been together ever since. We’ve basically grown up together and are lucky enough to have been able to experience so much of life hand-in-hand. We’ve lived in three different states and four countries; traveled through 25 countries; adopted one kitten; been on countless plane, train, car, and bus rides; and all together. I feel so lucky to have Cooper not only as my husband but also as my best friend.

Cooper and I are so grateful to have an incredibly supportive family and community around us. Our wedding was truly a community effort — and it had to be since we were planning it from our home 8,000 miles away in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Even though we chose to have our wedding in Cooper’s hometown of Park City, Utah, it was essentially a destination wedding. We and most of our wedding guests flew in from out of town. We invited our guests for a week-long celebration including casual dinners, family lunches, a bridal shower, a welcome barbeque, the rehearsal dinner, the reception and finally, a farewell brunch. It was a ton of planning but we’re so happy that we were able to spend a solid week with our closest family and friends. None of this would have happened without Robbyn, my mother-in-law. She was not only our wedding planner, but also our designer, invitation stuffer and chief contract negotiator! My mother Laura hand picked every bottle of wine we served. My father-in-law Kim and his wife Barbara threw a very elegant rehearsal dinner (We had lobster! What more could a girl want?). My father, a jewelry designer, hand-crafted my bridesmaids’ gifts. My grandmother sewed every one of our napkins, tablecloths and runners. Lynn, a family friend, was ordained and spent hours upon hours crafting our ceremony with us. I’m exhausted just thinking about all the hard work and love that was put in to making our day so incredibly special.

I knew that I wanted our wedding to reflect not only our own styles and personality but also the natural beauty of the venue. We opted for a natural, organic feel — nothing fussy or overworked. I wanted the whole day to feel like we’d just casually thrown it together (which, of course, only happens when you have amazing vendors, a great designer and tons of help). My favorite part of the design was by far the ribbons that we hung from the tree. We had a lovely breeze during the day, and throughout the ceremony, the ribbons waved in the wind. It made for some fantastic photos that we’ll treasure forever! At the end of the day, we could not have been happier with our the way our wedding turned out. Not only was it a beautiful event, but we were also able to create memories with the people we love most in this world.

Berry Farm Wedding Photo Shoot from Green Apple Photography

Fall is one of my most favorite times of year and it is ever so quickly approaching. Apple picking, leaf changing, fabulous fall coat wearing; you get the idea. And along with that crisp, cool approach comes a plethora of Fall weddings (also on my favorites list). This inspiration shoot captured by Green Apple Photography is cozying up to that Fall-ish genre.  It’s apples and berries a plenty with a gorgeous floral spread by Honey of a Thousand Flowers  and paper goods by October Ink perfect for a cool weathered alfresco affair. Head to the gallery for even more inspiration ripe with berry hues. And be sure to check out the easiest/ crazy cute DIY you ever did see right here.

From Lindsey Stewart of Green Apple PhotographyThe seed for this shoot was inspired over a year ago, when I first visited Phelps Berry Farm and fell in love with the stunningly beautiful, quiet farm, nestled in the Mountains of Payson, Utah. Living in the city, I was enchanted by the rural surroundings. Phelps Farm stayed on my mind for over a year, and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to design a shoot around the farm. This was my first attempt at a styled shoot, and I knew I wanted to keep it simple, romantic and fresh. It ended up being a wonderful collaboration of extremely talented women. The starting inspiration was raspberry and gold, and we designed the shoot from there.

Jayne Swallow of October Ink created the personalize place settings, and the cups and silverware are her grandmother’s. Jayne also designed custom invitations with watercolor and gold foil, table cards and the berry box sayings. The beautiful, Grecian-style gown was custom made for the shoot by Melissa Blackburn, and was stunning on Mari. Melissa also provided the French lace for the Chuppah and the Boy Scout table used for the cakes. Sarah Winward of Honey of a Thousand Flowers is an amazing stylist in addition to florist, and she created the centerpieces, bouquet and boutonniere, incorporating a mix of fruit and flowers. She also provided the birch branches for the Chuppah, candlesticks, crates and picnic table pillows. The party favors were berry boxes, hand-painted gold, that said, “To Have & To Eat.” I can’t say enough about the talent that was present, the cameraderie of all these talented women creating together. April Benincosa did a flawless job with the hair and makeup. I knew I wanted braids, rosy cheeks and bright, raspberry lipstick, and she created a flawless, romantic look for Mari. April stepped in at the last minute and really helped finish off the overall look.

All the women joined in on styling, and I loved seeing what a joint collaboration and mutual enthusiasm can create. My wonderful husband baked the six dozen cakes that we brought. The idea was farm-fresh for the cakes, and we kept it simple with bundt cakes, raspberries and a few flowers. The picnic table came from our backyard, and I made the floral headbands. The Phelps family was extremely generous in opening up their beautiful property to us. Some fun, behind-the-scenes facts: Mari and Blake are parents to a darling little six month-old boy, who played on a blanket at that shoot with us and was a dream the entire time. I shot Mari and Blake’s wedding 18 months ago, and it was so fun to reconnect and see their little family grow. On the day of the shoot, the entire valley was covered in a thick, gray smoke from several wildfires in the area. Magically, the shoot appeared to be in the one clear spot in the area, and the winds eventually blew the smoke away. Gratefully, a few weeks later we got some much needed rain.

I can’t even talk about it. Too beautiful. Really it’s all too beautiful for words, but I definitely recommend going back for seconds in the full gallery of images!

From Brooke Schultz Photography The concept for this shoot was a combination of rustic, natural elements and a bright, fun color palette. We wanted to marry the beauty of nature with the sass of corals, fuchsias, and pinky-reds. Brunch gives a laid-back vibe, with nothing too perfectly coiffed. The bride’s flower crown combines modern style with a dash of flower-child, and the brunch menu of donut and fruit kabobs, strawberry pancakes and ginger-almond granola favors makes the wedding cozy without being fussy. An intimate setting completes the effortless feel with elegant yet earthy picnic table seating and the backdrop of Utah fields and mountains, but this bold and timeless look can be recreated by brides everywhere.

From the Bride… Although Derek and I met three years ago through one of my best friends, his stepsister, it wasn’t until last year that we finally had a chance for each other. As he was getting ready to come home from his deployment to Afghanistan, he sent this little message to his sister, “I think it’s about time we bring up the subject of your friend Sam again. We seem to go back and forth with her, what’s the latest? I see she is still beautiful, but that’s about all Facebook can do for me.” To make a long, wonderful story a bit shorter, Derek proposed at our favorite ski resort in late August…

Knowing Derek’s stringent two year training pipeline, I knew that I could either get married in November during his break or wait until his training was complete. This was a no brainer, but only allowed me a couple weeks shy of three months to plan and prepare the day I’d been dreaming about since I was a little girl. Although Derek was in the Army, we decided against a full-on military wedding — this day was just for us. And as any military family can tell you, the military will get plenty of their days. Just because we didn’t go with all the military trimmings, that doesn’t mean I don’t love my man in uniform. So after we got all the shots in his suit we wanted, I warmed up while he changed into his uniform. There is just something so classy about a sharp uniform paired with an elegant dress. I guess I’ve just seen too many classic films.

Holding hands and grinning from ear to ear, we were waiting outside the huge wooden double doors to be announced for the first time to our guests as Captain and Mrs. Telleson. As we waited, I looked over at the fruits of the labor that I had started months ago. As I gazed into the fireplace, I loved how the flames seemed to match perfectly to the gold sashes, pink flowers and various cream trimmings that I had chosen for our colors. The guest escort cards were hung from a board that I designed and Derek built. I had seen escort cards placed on tables or handed out, but I was looking for a clean, classy look that would easily hold our custom cards, which perfectly matched our invitations. One of my bridesmaids is a very accomplished graphic designer, and we must have swapped hundreds of emails making sure that all our printed materials had my distinct style and complemented each other. It was such a compliment to hear my friends tell me while dancing how beautiful the room looked and how it was “so Sam.” My goal had been to carefully choreograph a classy, elegant night to remember. For them to say they saw my style throughout all of the details was exactly what I wanted to hear. To see it all come together and show my vision I had for the day of my dreams was such a huge pay off for all the hard work. The best part was being able to share it with our closest family and friends. Our wedding turned out better than anything I had ever dreamed of, and I’m so lucky to be married to my handsome soldier boy. Huge thanks to our family, friends, vendors and especially Derek for making our day so special!

Vintage Backyard Wedding by Elisabeth Kate Photography

A true backyard wedding is few and far between now a days but if you’re lucky enough to procure the perfect family retreat, what follows is usually an intimate and incredibly personalized affair. Elisabeth Kate Photography is proving my point with this vintage meets DIY meets budget friendly Utah wedding. It’s about as sweet as you can get with an equally stinkin cute couple and the getaway car? Now that is how you make an exit. See more of the day here.

From the Bride…I decided I wanted the reception in my parent’s backyard which wasn’t quite wedding ready… Since our budget was fairly small, my Dad and then fiance decided they could do the work themselves. Little did they know it would take more than blood, sweat and tears to get that yard in tip top shape. But they did it! It turned out beautiful and they were so proud to be able to show it off to our guests. My uncle built the pergola over the patio and it went up the day before the wedding!

I wanted to be super involved in the theme and decorations of the wedding. After changing my mind several times, I decided on an old English meets shabby chic style. I got caught up in what everyone around me was telling me I should do or what they liked that I kind of lost my own opinion. When I finally decided on the theme it was a breath of fresh air knowing it was exactly what I wanted.

I found most of the decorations on local online classifieds, consignment and antique shops. The yellow antique couch I bought from a lady that posted on the local classified. That was definitely my favorite find! I wanted something unique for the guest book and came up with the idea of the bulletin board a few weeks before the wedding! We bought a lace fabric to cover the board and mailing tags from an office supply. We took the strings off of the tags and tied hemp on them for a more rustic look.  I found an awesome, budget friendly wedding planner who understood my vision for the decor and helped me out every step of the way.

We used very few vendors for our wedding. We were lucky enough to have some amazing friends and family that helped out. A family friend catered and the food turned out so great. Chicken skewers, wild rice, an array of fruit and green salad. A perfect summertime meal. We had a huge variety of desserts thanks to our extended families. French desserts from a local pastry shop, sugar cookies, brownie bites, coconut haystacks. The mini cupcakes that my husband’s sisters and mom made were a big hit!

A co-worker of my mom’s made the cake, another co-worker made the invitations, my aunt painted the wooden signs in calligraphy, my now brother-in-law was our videographer, my uncle provided the antique car, my close friend made my veil and my cousin took my bridal shots. If your budget is low, don’t be afraid to ask around! People are more willing to help out than you think. Don’t give up on your dream wedding because it is still possible to do at a lower cost. I spent many days searching blogs for DIY ideas and inspiration. Start early and you will be surprised at what you can do on your own.

Draper, Utah Wedding by Yan Photography

We love a great backyard-esque wedding around here, especially one totally DIY’d from beginning to end. They never cease to amaze us with their ample amounts of heart and this Utah beauty captured by Yan Photography is completely living up to its predecessors. It’s simple, sweet and full of love, love, love (and doughnuts!) Delicious looking doughnuts, in fact. The whole affair is nothing short of fabulous with a big whopping side of meaningful and you can see it all here.

From Yan Photography:

This wedding was sweet in every possible way, but especially literally. Kelsey the bride works in a doughnut shop and they served the most beautifully decorated donuts along with a huge array of other treats, from homemade chocolate chip cookies, to argentinian specialties that reflect the bride’s heritage on her mother’s side. In fact it was Kelsey’s mother and her aunties who worked for months crafting all of the hand made touches such as the banners, and bits of lace. As centerpieces, Kelsey and Scott had the most tempting bunt cakes that charmed their guest and were yet another sweet touch. Many of the pieces used to hold the cakes and flowers, etc, were thrifted by the couple. they truly wanted the look of their wedding to be ecclectic, organic, and simple, yet meaningful to them and who they are.

From the Bride’s Mother:

The reception(s) were all decorated with things that I, family and friends already had in our homes.  The only things purchased were the vases-at D.I. no less.  The banners and garlands were made by my sister-in-law, Lorena and myself.  The treats were all lovingly offered by family and ward friends (they’re amazing people.)  The yummy donuts came from a donut shop that Kelsey had been working at called Beyond Glazed, here in Draper.  I started making the bundt cakes a couple weeks in advance and then freezing them.  Pulled them out of freezer right before setting the tables and frosting them right then and there.  The cake “box” was picked up at a garage sale for nothing by Kelsey.

My whole life I have been dreaming of my wedding day. What kind of wedding would I have? Big and fancy or a small get together with just close friends and family, outside or an inside? Also who I was going to marry? Was it going to be love at first sight or was it going to be an old friend? I’m very much a hopeless romantic so these thoughts were always in the back of my mind. I remember thinking I was going to wait a while to get married, I wanted to travel and live life before I settled down with just one person. But as many people know life doesn’t always go according to plan. When I was just 19 I met Derrik and it was love at first sight. From the moment I met him I knew we would be married. And a few years later it happened. Since meeting Derrik and knowing our wedding day was just a matter of time, I started searching the Internet and reading through bridal magazines. I changed the theme and feel of the wedding too many times to count. But once we decided to have our reception in Derriks father’s backyard everything fell into place. We got married in the middle of summer but the weather couldn’t have been better. We were married in the morning in the Salt Lake Temple. It was so amazing to be surrounded by our closest family and friends for our wedding. After the wedding we were able to take lots of pictures with all our loved ones on the temple grounds. Then we headed over to The Lion House for lunch. Our reception was held that evening in the small town of Liberty, Utah, at my in-laws. It was the perfect setting for the relaxed reception we had visioned. With the big willow trees, natural pond and mountains as a backdrop we couldn’t have asked for anything better. As the sun set we danced and had such a wonderful time with all those that made that day amazing. Having a mom and two sisters who are very crafty we were able to incorporate many DIY  projects for the reception. (We even designed and sewed the flower girl dresses for my nieces ourselves.) For our decorations we wanted it to be vintage and classy, yet relaxed. So for the table settings we had decided to have them all be a little different. We found all different frames to hold pictures of Derrik and I over the last few years with gorgeous flowers for centerpieces. My dad is quite the handy man and has collected old windows and doors for as long as I can remember. So we used these as accents throughout the yard, as picture frames or just as fun backdrops. Since we had an outdoor wedding we really wanted to keep the decorations simple and let the natural beauty really be the focus.

From the Bride… Our wedding day was perfect. We wanted it to be no-pressure, no standing in a receiving line, exactly the way we wanted it. We opted for a garden party at Conrad Ranch in Utah. We wanted it to be rustic and natural but also chic and personal.

Being on a budget, we decided to do all of it ourselves. We thrifted for unique things to put on the tables. Old vases, bowls, china, tea-pots, clocks, books, etc. My sister sewed a hundred grey lace napkin rings to go around the napkins on each plate. A family friend brought her jazz band to perform in the gazebo, which we decorated with lights and hanging glass orbs filled with fresh flowers.

My dress was from Ann Taylor, which we bought on sale, and a family friend added sleeves to it to make it different. My sister is into book-binding and created a beautiful wedding book for guests to sign as they came in. We decided that with the beautiful natural mountain backdrop surrounding us, we could use minimal decorations. The mountains were our decorations.

The party was so simple and so personal that we were able to talk with all of our guests. The main aspect of our vision was being surrounded on the most important day with the people who love us most.

Utah Wedding by Leo Patrone Photography & Bluebird Events

The countless amazing weddings we see on SMP truly never lose their affect… in fact each day we get a little more obsessed. And if you think we gush about the weddings that we feature on the site, you should see just how excited we get when we’re actually at one. After all, it’s not every day that we get to witness two people pledge their love to one another, share an incredible weekend with the people you love, and watch some ridiculously talented vendors work their wedding magic on a breathtaking celebration. So when my friends Hadley and Brian tied the knot in Park City this past February… I was in all sorts of heaven. Weekend with my nearest and dearest friends-beautiful mountains of Utah-romantic winter wedding filled to the brim with stunning details-kind of heaven. With photography by the amazing Leo Patrone, planning and design by Meredith Parsons of Bluebird Events, and the reigning king of the dance party, Michael Antonia of The Flashdance on board for the affair, this wedding was as heartwarming as it was beautiful… and a fabulous party I won’t soon forget. Oh… and did I mention it was really, really, really pretty? As always, there’s lots more for you to feast your eyes on in the gallery. Congratulations Hadley & Brian!

From the beautiful bride Hadley… I have always been passionate about my family, friends and the mountains where I grew up. When the love of my life asked me to be his wife, it didn’t take us long to decide to tie the knot in my hometown of Park City, UT. Since we share a love of skiing and snowboarding, we thought a winter wedding would be a perfect setting to bring our closest friends and family together to celebrate. Our vision was to have a romantic affair that captured the history of the town and allowed our guests to enjoy every moment of the weekend.

Finding a talented photographer was top priority. Thank goodness we were directed to Leo Patrone who captured every moment and detail authentically and yet uniquely. Since we live over 2,000 miles away in New York City, we knew we needed help bringing our Park City vision to life. Luckily, we found the fabulous Meredith Parsons of Bluebird Events who designed a wedding that was perfectly us and took over the logistics so we could enjoy every second of the weekend with our families. I got most of my inspiration from wedding blogs (especially SMP!) and knew I wanted décor that had a warm, organic wintery feel. Meredith and her team made this feeling a reality for Brian and me, and we couldn’t have been happier.

The festivities kicked off with an intimate Thursday night rehearsal dinner party with our parents and wedding party at my parents’ home, catered by the talented Joe Saladyga of Savory Kitchens. Friday night after a raucous day on the ski slopes (with many of us wearing retro 80’s ski garb,) we held an incredible welcome party at the High West Whiskey Distillery with the most delicious bites and specialty cocktails – one named after our dog Huxley and the other called The Amos, a reference to the Tuck graduate school where Brian and I met.

Our wedding day was, in a word, perfect. Brian and I chose to do photos before the ceremony so we could enjoy the evening and also catch some day light. Thank goodness! Seeing each other for the first time was more emotional than we ever imagined and I’m grateful we had that special time together. We were married in the St. Mary’s Old Town Chapel, the oldest Catholic church in Utah, with our closest friends and family squeezed into the beautiful old building. I walked down the aisle to Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve and couldn’t take my eyes of my almost husband. One of my favorite moments of the entire day was looking out at everyone’s faces during the ceremony – I had the biggest grin on my face. The chapel was decorated with lots of candles and lanterns to keep in line with the romantic and historical feel of the building.

Our reception was right down the street at the Riverhorse Café, one of our favorite restaurants. I loved the hanging glass tea lights and mismatched vases on the tables. After a delicious meal, we rocked out on the dance floor with the fabulous DJ Michael Antonia of The Flashdance (he is a genius!). Our wedding weekend was more significant and more filled with love than Brian and I ever imagined possible and we feel so blessed.

From the Bride…For the wedding, I had pretty good idea of what I wanted (probably since I have worked with my mom on so many and could pick out exactly what I did and didn’t want). I wanted it to feel laid back, relaxing and fun (I originally wanted to close off the street and have a block party, but we toned it down a little), but still very classy and nice. And we especially wanted everyone who helped put it together (and there was tons of help from family and friends) and who came later, to have a really fun time. So we went with really good food, good music, kept it outside with lots of lights, and had lots of chocolate. I love summer so that’s where the bright, vibrant colors came from. And I have always wanted it at my house, so that was an easy pick, and we were so lucky to have had such great weather! Everything turned out just perfect.

As relaxed as it is breathtaking, this Utah wedding is the epitome of casual elegance . Photographed by Chudleigh Weddings, this day incorporated everything from apple bobbing to a bluegrass band and my favorite little detail: the Bride’s whimsical scarf. Our hearts are seriously all a flutter for that number. See the FULL al fresco affair in the gallery and for more from this lovely day, be sure to stop by Utah Bride and Groom.

Taylor and Rylan spend much of their free time hiking and camping in the red cliffs of Southern Utah – their “favorite place in the world.” So when it came time to get hitched, it’s no surprise they headed south for a weekend wedding getaway. The couple exchanged vows in a n intimate ceremony at a small inn in Springdale, just a stone’s throw away from Zion National Park. Two days later they held a reception at a local apple orchard, surrounded by the sweet, crisp smell of apples. The couple celebrated all night with family and friends, dining on seasonal fare, bobbing for apples, donning playful masks and dancing under the stars to bluegrass music.

Ally and Collin met last winter at the Sundance Ski Resort in Utah, while they were both ski instructors. Their dating began and they were with each other almost every day for the next 12 months. Collin proposed to Ally while on vacation in Lake Tahoe at sunset. Ally’s wish for her wedding was to have a grand celebration. The Spark Restaurant and Lounge in Provo, Utah was the perfect venue for this wish to be granted. The menu consisted of shirley temples topped with cotton candy, herb french fries, pork lollipops and panna cotta. We had a candy bar and a chocolate/vanilla cake with hazelnut filling. After a night of eating, greeting friends and spending time with family, sparklers were lit and they left in style. They spent their first night together at The Grand America in Salt Lake City and then spent the rest of the week at a ski in ski out cabin at Sundance, honeymooning where it all started.
