The Coolest Untraditional Wedding You’ll Ever See (The Bride Flew a Plane to the Ceremony!)

You may think you’ve seen it all when it comes to weddings, but until you watch this “adventure” wedding, I assure you have not. When Andrew of DTproductions and his Bride set out to plan their Big Day, they knew the traditional route wasn’t for them. Instead, they brought in an entire production crew to film their alternative elopement at Utah’s Mineral Bottom Canyon Moab complete with skydiving, rock climbing, four-wheeling, and plane flying – you read right: The Bride flew a plane to the wedding ceremony. Kuddos to Ariel and Andrew for the coolest wedding EVER.

From the Bride & Groom… “The Way Out: Wedding” is an adventurous love story. Early after the engagement, Ariel and Andrew were feeling the pressure of wedding planning and decided that a traditional route was not for them. Andrew, the groom, is the co-founder of a film production company, DTproductions, so Ariel sat him and the team down and asked if they could design an adventure wedding film. She wanted to elope but also share the moment with friends and family. The Way Out: Wedding was on.

After months of pre-production and planning, the DTproductions team created an in-depth 4 day production schedule. Each day started before sunrise and ended well after sunset. The first morning Andrew and Kelly hopped in a tiny plane, along with a jump guide, an aerial photographer, and a pilot and they all headed into the sky. Neither Kelly nor Andrew had ever skydived before, and it was Kelly’s first shoot where the door of the plane was open. So it definitely got the blood flowing. At 10,000 feet the Aerial Photographer climbed out onto the wing and motioned for Andrew to follow. On the count of three, Kelly captured the jump and the Aerial Photographer filmed the free fall. While the rest of the team did not need to dive for the film, they all found themselves jumping out of a plane that day.

That night, full of adrenaline, the team headed outside Moab for the two hour drive to Mineral Bottom Canyon. There they would scout the wedding location and camp out for the night. That evening Andrew was tasked to build the Chuppah they would get married under while a thunderstorm rolled through the valley. The team captured a few overnight timelapses and headed back to town in the morning after hiding the Chuppah near the wedding site.

After they passed through Moab to charge batteries and clean equipment, they headed out to Fisher Towers to meet Ariel for a sunset Yoga shoot. It was our most colorful sunset of the trip.

The next morning the team headed back out to Fisher Towers at 4:30 am, so Ariel could climb Ancient Art. This was by far the most technical shoot of the trip. Kelly climbed alongside Ariel, carrying cameras with him, in order to capture the action up close and personal. Larry Harpe assisted the climb, ensuring that both Kelly and Ariel were safely locked in place during all shots. Cartter and Andrew climbed to a distant cliff in order to get a distance shot of Ariel summiting, and Sam managed the logistics of the from the base of the climb on a walkie-talkie. Luckily the climb went very smoothly with Ariel reaching for the sky around 9am. After she descended, the team headed back in to town to fuel up.

After a quick bite to eat, the crew drove out to Kane Creek for the four-wheeling and motorcycle sequence. At the trail the team split into two. Team One consisted of two four wheelers, one that carried the Groom and Officiant and the other that strapped a camera man to the back in order to get as many dynamic shots as possible. Team Two assisted Ariel as she rode her dirt bike down dirt roads, veil flowing in the wind.

The next day, Saturday, was wedding day and it was certainly nerve wracking. The radars had shown weather over Mineral Bottom the night before, a spot that easily floods. If there was any water no planes could land. So, Andrew and the crew drove out to the site around 6am to inspect the damage. Luckily they found campers who said the rain missed the area the night before. Andrew radioed to his soon to be father-in law that the wedding was a go and he excitedly set the immediate family in motion.

All family members, crew, and everyone but Ariel, Her Dad – Mike – and Cartter drove out to Mineral Bottom to get set up. At the site the team recovered the Chuppah, set up flowers, changed into their suits, and waited for Ariel and Mike to fly in. Ariel’s family are all pilots, her dad flies prop planes, her brother is captain for US Airways, and she is licensed herself. Flying on her wedding day was truly a dream come true.

Ariel was set to fly in at 9am with Mike and Cartter, but they were no where to be found. Everyone at the Canyon was getting worried, but apparently military black hawks had flown into the airport and blocked the runway. After some conversations, they cleared the traffic and they were off.

Eventually the group on the ground could hear the plane echoing off the canyon walls and the knew it was almost time. When the plane edged over the cliff and into the canyon, it was an unforgettable moment, Ariel and Andrew could see each other for the first time on their wedding day, kind of. The plane got in position for landing, put the wheels on the ground and pulled right in front of the aisle. Mike got out first and opened the door for Ariel. The father and daughter then walked together down the aisle. Mike passed Ariel over to Andrew and the ceremony began.

Sam welcomed the crowd with a speech he had prepared after dining with the couple the week before. Then Cartter and Kelly both spoke. Kelly recited the poem “Green River’ (the Green River cuts through Mineral Bottom so it was fitting), and Cartter recited his favorite 90’s movie quotes that represented the couple. Then it was time for the vows, Andrew and Ariel wrote their own, which can be heard in the film. After the ceremony the group popped champagne, and then Ariel and Andrew got in the plane and flew away.

Cozy Flannel Themed Bachelorette Weekend in the Mountains

It’s official, this Bride-to-be (who also happens to be the real life Collins from The Blind Side!!) had the best bachelorette party ever. Because honestly, what’s better than a cozy getaway with your favorite girlfriends? That’s right, nothing. Unless said getaway included a mountain escape, flannel theme, and of course endless bubblySorella Muse captured it all so pin the pretty and see it in The Vault!

From Sorella Muse… When Collins got in touch with me about the idea of documenting a bachelorette party, my first thought was of bandage dresses and clubbing and one too many drinks. So when she explained that what she had in mind was actually a relaxing mountain getaway in the snow-capped mountains of Deer Valley, Utah, complete with matching plaid pajamas, snow tubing, games, mimosas, brunch, and curling up beside the fireplace with hot chocolate, I was immediately in! I loved that she chose spending quality time with her bridesmaids by planning an alternative weekend to the typical bachelorette. And as I quickly learned, whenever and wherever you get a group of sorority girls from Ole Miss together, it’s always a party!

From the Bride-to-Be… When thinking about places to have your bachelorette weekend, it is assumed it will be in a party city like Vegas, or on a beach somewhere like Miami. Since we all had already attended quite a few beach bachelorettes I wanted to do something different…and since I also wanted to include a bit of relaxation we decided on a snowy mountain getaway. My fiance’s family vacation home in Deer Valley, Utah seemed like the perfect place. We are all Southern girls, so the change of scenery to the beautiful snow-capped mountains right outside of Park City was a welcomed idea.

Setting the weekend itinerary was easy as we all had one goal, to spend quality time with each other. Most of my 18 bridesmaids live in different states across the country; Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Texas, North Carolina, New York, and California. We know our time together is precious, and really wanted to take advantage of this long weekend to simply enjoy being together. I wanted a theme that was fun, would set the tone, and would make people think of the mountains. We started with the buffalo plaid pattern. We then wanted to bring in the snow aspect so we used this vintage snowy mountain paper, and brought that into the theme. I love all things sparkly so we threw in gold glitter details to be the final touch.

I wanted to keep the gift bags in line with our snowy weekend, so I included all the mountain getaway essentials. I found buffalo plaid bags at Abercrombie and Fitch, and loaded them up with fun goodies. You have to have slippers around the house because its so cold outside, so I found fuzzy slippers at Five Below, as well as the EOS eggs lip balm, and the tech touch gloves. I found the lotion and the buffalo plaid pajamas at Target. The black coffee mugs were from the Dollar Store, but my bridesmaid Kimber added a special touch by adding everyone’s monogram in gold. The buffalo plaid gloves were from Urban Outfitters and my maid of honor Catherine Ann provided the t-shirts.

Most of the girls arrived late Wednesday night, so we decided to keep Thursday low key. We had a delicious brunch at Zoom (Robert Redford’s restaurant on Main Street in Park City) walked around, shopped, and went back to the house to enjoy some wine and the beautiful views. We regrouped at dinner and went all the way up the mountain to Burgers and Bourbon at the Montage. I really encourage eating bad and drinking too much on your bachelorette. We were the last ones at the restaurant and finished off the dinner with bourbon filled milkshakes and lots of laughs!

Going with the relaxing stress free weekend theme my mom surprised us and booked a chef for breakfast Friday and Saturday morning. If you can swing this I would heavily recommend it. It was such treat to be able to wake up to the smell of bacon, and walk out to a fully prepared meal that we could all sit down and enjoy together. Friday afternoon we put our ski gear on (which was a reality tv episode in itself with all the parts and pieces) and headed out to snow tube. By far the best decision of the weekend! We played in the snow, flew down the mountain on tubes, and obviously acted like we were five years old for two hours. Being able to get out in the snow (and yes it was actually snowing the day we went) laugh at each other and tube was just the amount of silly we needed.

For dinner we went in to Park City and ate at River Horse on Main Street. The food was fabulous and the entertainment was just as good. There was an awesome acoustic guitar player who we loved so much we booked him to fly in for our post wedding dinner entertainment this coming April! After dinner we went to Downstairs Club and danced the night away. After our big night we needed a relaxing Saturday so we had masseuses come to the house and everyone laid around in their PJ’s and got massages. We ended the weekend with a fun dinner in town at Fletchers then headed over to Rocken Rileys for post dinner drinks. One of my favorite memories of the weekend was definitely the dance battle that ensued here between one of my bridesmaids and another vacationer. It was all in good fun but lets get serious…. obviously my bridesmaid won! Sunday we woke up, all said our good byes, and swore we would all be back the same time next year for a reunion weekend. It was a magical time and I am so thankful to have such special friends to share this fun season of life with!!

Park City Destination Wedding on Top of a Mountain

I’ll always love a beautiful blush wedding, but there’s something about fall weddings that just begs for jewel tones. And, this Park City destination wedding is proof why. Amidst the rich hues of Park City in the fall, this duo became husband and wife in the most beautiful day, including illustrated maps from Hilary K Designs Inc. and hand-painted invitations from Momental Designs, a stunning mountaintop setting, romantic florals and so much more! Don’t miss a single detail from Carla Boecklin and Haugen Creative in THE VAULT!

From The Bride & Groom…The most important thing to us for our wedding was to throw a fun party where everyone who had travelled from afar would get a taste of the Utah we have grown to love over the years. We hosted our welcome party at the High West Distillery, our favorite place to grab drinks and food after a day on the slopes. We stuffed our welcome sacks with Park City-made trail mix and Utah honey. We served Utah trout as part of the dual entree for the wedding dinner. And we scheduled activities throughout the weekend that helped our guests experience Park City the way we would want to (Historical tour of Main Street, Group Hike through Deer Valley, mountain biking & yoga). So in a way we were acting as tour guides and also part advertising agency for the town we spend so much time in and see as our second home. And in part, we did a pretty good job because everyone wants to come back!

For the decor, we wanted to incorporate as many aspects of the mountain as possible, while also achieving a modern aesthetic. My top search words on Pinterest while looking for inspiration were “rustic” and “mountain” although we knew from the start that “rustic” was not exactly what we were going for. More specifically, we wanted to exhibit harmony with our surroundings while fully recognizing that we are New Yorkers throwing a wedding at a hotel in 2015. The ceremony was easy. The St. Regis Grand Lawn already had an unbeatable view. Our florist brought in lanterns and potted plants to line the aisles. All the plants were different, which we loved. For the reception, we opted for a clear tent because we wanted everyone to continue enjoying the beautiful mountain view until the sun went down, and going tent-less in September was too risky. We brought some vegetation into the tent (our florist wrapped the chandeliers with leaves she had foraged locally) so it blended with the mountain and trees outside.

We used low centerpiece in fall colors because on top of it reflecting the season, the colors brightened up the space just the right amount. We decided early on that we wanted to name the tables after our favorite ski runs in Park City. Finding vendors that could make the signs the way we wanted was a challenge, so with a wood burning kit and some ply wood, we made them ourselves! As we got in the arts and crafts mode,we decided to make the place cards ourselves too. After browsing for some ideas on Darby Smart, we bought 150 wood slices cut in half, applied a few coats of chalkboard paint, and wrote out the names of all our loved ones on custom place cards. We wrote our hashtag (#stylinskis) on the extra slices and strategically placed them around cocktail hour so people would get the word.

For food, we knew we were in good hands with the St. Regis’s catering team. On top of having an excellent tasting, we have dined at the J&G Grill in the hotel several times before. We went for a “dual protein” plated dinner because we wanted our guests to experience more variety. It also made printing the response cards lot easier. We only wish we had more time to enjoy our food on the big day!

Entertainment was a big priority for us. After checking them out at a rehearsal, we hired the New Soul Brigade, a talented young group of musicians that had just formed. The energy they brought to the party was unreal. During dinner hour, they played jazz standards in the background. After dinner, they had everyone on the dance floor the moment the speeches were done until the very end of the night. That was by far our favorite part of the wedding..seeing our friends vigorously dancing side by side with our parents, aunts, uncles and loved ones.

Dancing with Stars Pro Lindsay Arnold’s Utah Wedding

Monday nights are for Dancing With the Stars, but this particular Monday we’ve got something extra special on the agenda. Because when DWTS pro Lindsay Arnold and her high school sweetie, Sam Cusick tied the knot, their wedding planner Danielle Rothweiler knew their day was simply made for the pages of SMP. Think vintage inspired design with a pink ombre palette all photographed by Jessica Janae. Find more in THE VAULT and leave your congrats for Lindsay + Sam in the comments below!

From Lindsay… My high school sweetheart, Sam Cusick popped the question while we were on vacation in Africa and, of course, that was easiest and most rewarding “yes”!! When people say their wedding day is the best day of their life they are not kidding. Everything from planning each little detail to experiencing the finished product made me the happiest girl in the world.

Our wedding was very vintage chic inspired with ombré shades of pink for our bridesmaid dresses matched with dark blue suits for the groomsmen. I am still in love with my wedding dress that was a cream and champagne lace trumpet gown, it was exactly what I had imagined in my mind when I was looking for dresses. When I found it, I just knew it was the one!

Getting to marry my love, Sam, was the most fulfilling and amazing experience and I am so grateful to everyone who helped make our dream day come true. The best advice I can give to future brides and grooms is to enjoy every second and focus on each other! The day will fly by faster than ever, so don’t let the stress of the day get away with you. Be in the moment and enjoy this incredible day with your forever best friend that you will never forget!

From Danielle Rothweiler of Rothweiler Event Design… Dancing with Stars pro, Lindsay Arnold, got married to her high school sweetheart, Sam Cusick, on June 18, 2015 in both Salt Lake City and Orem, Utah. Her Mormon ceremony took place in Salt Lake City at the temple and her reception for her guests was hosted by Sleepy Ridge. A ring ceremony took place outdoors prior to dinner, and guests danced the night away while enjoying a 5 tier cake and an array of desserts.

Obviously, with a guest list and a bridal party full of DWTS cast members, dancing was very impressive all night! The bride knew the colors she wanted right from the moment we started planning, and we wanted to shake things up by putting her bridesmaids in different colors…an idea that she loved! Sam and Lindsay are everything you want your couples to be as a wedding planner: sweet, kind, gracious and completely in love with each other. They are what marriage is all about.

Fall Blackberry Farm Wedding Inspiration

After a weekend at the orchard and indulging in my fair share of cider-themed goodness, it’s safe to say fall is in full swing.  So with #PSL in hand, I’m diving into this seasonal editorial designed by Amber Reverie and photographed by Megan Robinson. Vibrant autumn hues, romantic Foil & Ink stationery and the prettiest blackberry tartlets are just a few of the goodies you’ll find inside THE VAULT.

From Foil & Ink… Set against a stunning mountain range on a charming blackberry farm, this editorial celebrated seasonal transitions. As the blackberries began turning to their full, dark color and dusk settled over the fields, the light cooled and allowed us to capture the raw beauty and romance of this place.

Tucked between the blackberry rows, a reclaimed wood table became the perfect place for an intimate wedding dinner on a summer evening. A primitive stone mortar filled with seasonal blooms included clematis, delicate hydrangea, blackberry branches, blooming oregano, lavender and summer grasses. Rustic blackberry tarts garnished with local lavender by Kneading Gluten Free were served on a beautiful piece of raw black slate, serving as a beautiful alternative to traditional wedding cake. With raw knotted napkins and informal old world place settings, the textural tablescape allowed for a relaxed dining experience, with touches of soft candlelight for ambiance.

The bride wore a light-as-air dusty blue silk dress from Gossamer as she floated ethereally through the rows of blackberry bushes, with a wild rose bouquet on her arm. Bellacosa Beauty created a loosely twisted up-do complimented by a barely-there neutral smokey eye. Finished with minimal raw topaz jewelry, the look was perfect for a soft, romantic bride in this rustic pastoral setting.

Still on the hunt for a dream venue? Well, we’re about to do you a solid favor by completing your search. Because when it comes to the ultimate location paired with exquisite details, our friends at the Waldorf Astoria know how to throw a spectacular party. With the glamour of Park City playing backdrop to the unparalleled True Waldorf Service, you’re guaranteed to have the wedding you’ve always dreamed of.

Marrying marvelous mountain views and divine details – your wedding will be made up of many unforgettable moments. Whether you’re looking to plan the ultimate destination fête or throw a local lovefest, they’ve got the best of it all at your fingertips.

From Sparkle Photography… Alyssa Anglin & Jeff Hillman planned their destination at the Waldorf Astoria in Park City for the ambience and intimate feel. The wedding theme was mountain elegance and the Waldorf was a perfect backdrop for their 100 guests. The colors were blue, white and grey and carried across from the flowers to the cork boutonniere’s. Jeff proposed to Alyssa at Relic Winery in Napa Valley. In honor of Jeff’s proposal, corks from Relic were used for the groomsmen boutonnieres. The wine theme continued throughout the wedding with wine table numbers and cork seat chart markers.

The ceremony took place in the luxurious lobby of the Waldorf. A crystal chandelier, dramatic staircase, marble floor and string quartet in the lobby created an elegant entrance for the bride. The reception continued under a white tent on the Waldorf property overlooking the gorgeous mountains. Cocktail hour overlooked the stunning landscape with chilled cantaloupe soup, marinated local tomato crostini’s and pork carnitas. A sit down dinner was served of kale salad, roasted sea bass, summer corn and squash ragu, peppercorn crusted prime rib tenderloin and seasonal cobbler. Local Utah honey was the favour for the out of town guests.

The couple met at Stanford University where they both studied economics. After college, they lived in New York for four years before spending two years apart — Jeff relocated to Omaha, Nebraska to work for his family agriculture business, JD Heiskell, and Alyssa moved to Boston to attend Harvard Business School. After graduating with her MBA this past May, Alyssa reunited with Jeff in Omaha and took a job with Nebraska-based sports startup, Hudl. The couple enjoys traveling, sports, and sharing good food and wine with family and friends.

Old World European Romance Wedding Inspiration

This inspiration from Ivy & Stone Photography and Fuse Weddings and Events is a 21st Century fairytale with former Bachelor contestant Michelle Money starring as its princess. Full of romantic touches—like the gorgeous Plum Pretty Sugar robe, pale blue gown, lush flowers and damask La Tavola linens—this photo shoot is fit for a modern princess. But instead of a glass slipper, I’ll take that stunning Opal and diamond ring from Trumpet and Horn. Live happily ever after in the gallery.

From Ivy & Stone PhotographyFor this project, we drew from European inspiration, drawing on various hues of dreamy blue and creamy neutrals. We wanted it to feel like you walked into a beautiful old French chateau, with ivy covered walls and ornate detailing.

We used a misty blue gown from Anne Barge. The gown was absolutely amazing! We even discovered, towards the end of the shoot, that it had pockets:) The hair styling was also french inspired with intricate twists making up the back of the hair. The style was enhanced by a beautiful piece provided by Myra Callan of Twigs and Honey.

We choose a vintage engagement ring by Trumpet and Horn. It was a victorian-aged blue stone and matched perfectly with the dress.

The table-scape was amazing! Covered with blue and cream floral linen and fine china, it felt like you were whisked away to a beautiful European retreat! We choose to use a cream sette garnished with simple draping greens. We also had hand-painted Bride and Groom signs to add a personal touch.

The florals were amazing! We used fresh garden roses in hues of citrus and lavender. The bouquet was of similar design, tied together with beautiful Silk and Willow ribbon.

Plum Pretty Sugar’s bridal robe was a perfect fit to start off any girl’s wedding day! The white silk robe was the perfect touch of feminine and pretty. We paired the robe with a tulle veil from Twigs and Honey. The veil was shoulder length and has different types of textures, which creates a depth to the piece.

The invitation suite was all hand written calligraphy by Karli Noel Caligraphy. It was done in gold lettering with accents of gold leaves. The envelope was a powder blue and had vintage stamps placed on it.

Our beautiful model is Michelle Money, formerly on the bachelor. She was a perfect fit for our romantic shoot!

The team assembled for this shoot was amazing and we hope you love the images as much as we do!

Pretty + Patriotic 4th of July Park City Wedding Inspiration

One of our country’s most beloved songs is “America the Beautiful.” And after seeing this patriotic photo shoot, I think someone should write a song about its beauty. Captured by Breanna McKendrick, this inspiration shoot is fully of lovely details from the gorgeous summery flowers and the handsome Groom’s military uniform to the stunning Park City setting and oversized American flag. See it all here.

Whimsical

From Breanna McKendrickPark City, Utah is known as a destination location for brides and grooms looking to get married deep in the Rocky Mountains surrounded by world class ski resorts and rich trees. But few people know that the charming farms and ranches tucked away in these resort mountains have a sturdy southern feel, even if they are so far away from the south. This styled session resembled everything patriotic, with the Groom in his Army Formals, the Bride in a blushing rose and lace wedding gown and the charming Whitewashed barn tucked into the mountains.

Austin and Michelle are married with a darling little girl. Austin is currently serving our country in the Army and gearing up for his first deployment, which means leaving Michelle and his little girl behind for a few months. The whitewashed barn of McPoulin farms gets gets dressed with a large American Flag each year which resonated with Austin’s Military uniform and patriotic theme. Michelle wore a classic blush pink tulle ballgown with ivory lace designed by Allure Bridal. Her bouquet echoed the reds of her gown and red lip in addition to the yellows of her Groom’s military stripe and details of his Army Formal uniform.

The military is a part of so many couple’s wedding day stories and can have patriotic themes tied into their wedding day portraits with class, elegance and without being too literal to a color pallet of Red, White, and Blue. This shoot is a wonderful example to classic military that echoes with a southern, elegant heart.

Spring Utah Temple Wedding

These lovebirds tied the knot in Provo, the town where they both grew up in and met each other, and they kept things simple and sweet with a temple ceremony followed by a backyard reception at a house just up the hill. Sounds idyllic, right? Jacquelyn Hayward did a fabulous job capturing every picturesque moment, so get ready to gush over the full gallery right here!

From Jacquelyn HaywardMegan and Scott were married on a beautiful April morning in Provo – the town where they grew up, went to high school, and met one another.  The sun was shy and drifted behind rain clouds that sprinkled softly here and there throughout the day.  Megan’s dress was handmade by Scott’s grandmother.  Megan’s gown of silk was fit it to her frame piece-by-piece, then adorned with beading.  Their reception was held at her Aunt’s house (who is also the mother of Scott’s best friend!) just up the hill from the temple.  The reception decorations were simple and understated, allowing the Spring blooms to steal the show.  Gourmet pizza from a food truck was served, and harp music danced it’s tune around the backyard where friends and family gathered to support their marriage.  It was such a lovely day!

From the beautiful bride…Scott and I began a friendship in high school that had something undeniably special about it.  At first it was strictly friendly.  No hand-holding or romance began for a long while.  After high school he went away for two years to serve in Germany as a missionary.  I went to school and had my own missionary experience in Argentina.  All the while we kept in touch through letters.  When he finally popped the question I cried, kissed him sweetly, and said, “Of course.”  We wanted our wedding to be simple and beautiful.  We arranged for an outdoor reception with a gorgeous view of the valley and Utah lake.  It would be a white wedding, with splashes of color from the flowers and a blush fabric wall.  What we wanted most for our wedding day was the focus to be placed on our union and families coming together.  We still feel so uplifted and happy and supported by our loved ones.

Elegant Park City Wedding

Plain and simple, I want to be this Bride’s best friend. Trust me, you will too after reading about her journey down the aisle. For when a close friend was diagnosed with cancer, she gifted them her wedding budget with a heart full of love. Using what funds remained, she enlisted passionate artistic vendors to do what they do best, and boy did they ever. Bella Cosa by D’Arcy Benincosa captured it all here.

From the beautiful Bride… I had a wedding budget, and then a dear friend’s daughter got sick with cancer. I decided to give most of the money to her, rent out the venue, and see what I could have done with my wedding via trade. This taught me a profound experience about the people in my life.

First, the love that abounded around me as I planned my wedding wasn’t of this world, not even close. Second, the vendors… ok scratch that, passionate artists, who trusted and helped me with my vision deserve every bit of recognition and praise that I can possibly give them. If you were to ask me, statues should be erected in their honor. And Third, I want other girls out there to know that you can have the day of your dreams no matter the budget. Your wedding day can be uniquely yours by using your own two hands and a heart full of love. You don’t have to impress anyone. You can be yourself and it will be all the better.

We picked the Washington School House Hotel as the venue because we could all stay there and because it left us speechless. We had 36 guests because those 36 people were an integral part of our journeys. We had foxes on our invitations because my new last name was to be Fox and foxes are kickass. I didn’t have colors and I didn’t pick my bridesmaids dresses. I had vintage china because it reminded me of growing up in a Victorian home and I told my floral designer to have fun and to do whatever she wanted. I didn’t give my photographer a shot list and I told my hair and makeup artist to make me look like a babe. We had a plated dinner with gourmet delights from our favorite food truck and I told my DJ to create one epic party. My only instruction to everyone was to dress well, have a blast and be present with us for our wedding day. I wasn’t about micromanaging, I was about letting people do what they do best.

Organic Outdoor Mountain Wedding

It doesn’t take much for a wedding to be pretty when it takes place in Utah’s the naturally beautiful Deer Valley. But when you add a backless lace dress from Katie May, romantic florals from Tinge Floral, and the artistic genius behind Kate Osborne Photography, a wedding here is sure to be breathtaking. See all the reasons why in the gallery.

From Ashley Beyer… Beth was such a great bride to work with. She works in events herself, so she knew exactly what she wanted; and she didn’t want any green spared! We focused on a variety of potted plants and ferns in eclectic vessels with a few small arrangements mixed in. For a mountain wedding it really helped bring the outdoors in.

Soft + Relaxed Bridal Boudoir Session

The ethereal feel of this boudoir shoot oozes romance. Photographed in the exclusive Washington Schoolhouse Hotel by Mallory Renee Photography in film, the essence of this shoot is all about softness and grace. If you’re thinking about a boudoir shoot yourself, you’ll want to take a peak at every look here!

From Mallory Renee PhotographyThis is a fine art bridal boudoir session shot at the picturesque Washington Schoolhouse Hotel in Park City, Utah. We were excited to be able to share these as the hotel is relatively exclusive when it comes to allowing photographers.

For this session, I wanted to focus on the things I feel femininity is made up of: softness, grace, elegance, curves, lace, delicate textures, natural light, etc. I especially loved the look that Flavia (HMUA) created on our model (Cortney). It’s a subtle smokey eye that leaves the main eyelid looking nude, perfect for boudoir! I also asked the florist to create a bouquet that had lots of movement and was reminiscent of spring.

To further highlight the soft vibe, this session was shot in film.

Part I: Modern Minimal Wedding Inspiration

Would you believe me if I told you this was only Part I of a stunning series? Graced with modern elements in the hands of Martha Hatfield, the gorgeous gallery a la Megan Robinson Photography is overflowing with loveliness. From crisp white blooms to backless gowns it’s all waiting for you right here!

From Martha Hatfield… This is part one of a two part editorial I put together. I love minimal design. Through my formal interior design training I learned that in order to achieve a minimal aesthetic, simplicity is key. The idea for this two part editorial came from Mies van der Rohe’s aphorism, “less is more.” My concept was to design a minimal wedding from two different aesthetic approaches, modern and organic. I wanted to showcase how careful editing and restraint can create the greatest impact regardless of what design style you work within.

Multi-Cultural Winter Wedding at Entrada

Multi-cultural weddings always impress me, the way they are able to combine various traditions and styles and when done right, the result can be absolutely outstanding. And that is just what we have here, a beautiful mixing of a traditional Hindu ceremony with some chic modern touches. Add in the stunning Bride and her dapper Groom and I just can’t get enough of Gideon Photography’s gorgeous gallery.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/124535255 600 338]

From Gideon Photography… Adria and Sujeet were married in a traditional Hindu ceremony in front of the red cliffs of Snow Canyon at Entrada Golf Club. The couple met and live in Washington, DC, but created a “destination” wedding experience for their guests in Adria’s hometown of St. George.

Their favorite part of the reception was the sparkler entrance and first dance. Since their wedding took place the week after daylight savings ended, the sun set by 5:30 pm and they were able to light sparklers at the very end of cocktail hour. The DJ announced them for the first time as a married couple and they rushed down a staircase into the patio full of their cheering guests, all holding sparklers. Right then, surrounded by friends, family, and fireworks, they danced for the first time as man and wife. It was magical.

For color and tone, they were drawn to darker, more “masculine” shades like slate grey and navy as well as dark woods. They added pops of metallic and greenery for crisp contrasts. This, combined with the traditional Indian bright colors of cloths and ceremony, made for the perfect result.
