One Simple Way to Cut Your Budget Without Losing Your Overall Design Goals

Not only does this gorgeous styled shoot from Pearl Events Austin include inspiring details, from terra cotta bud vases to white farm tables, but it also is perfect example of how to cut your budget without losing your overall design goals by repurposing items from the ceremony to the reception. A simple yet genius idea that you probably haven’t already thought of. From Honey Gem Creative… This styled shoot mimics an intimate ceremony and reception with natural light, and neutrals with careful pops of color. The ceremony may be in a small room, but the details are big! With the chandelier, fireplace, and antique mirror with florals crawling up, there is no lack of beauty. The bud vases and terra cotta planters line the fireplace with the perfect greenery to flower ratio.

But, this is not the only place you will see these pieces! A great way to cut the budget without losing your overall design goals is to repurpose items from the ceremony to the reception! For example, in this case we moved the floral arrangements from the fireplace, to one of the guest tables in the reception hall. The natural light in Woodbine Mansion makes for an outside feel, while sitting comfortably inside the historic home. The pops of color in the florals contrast beautifully off of the white farm tables, and the place setting with the light grey chargers tied in the limewash king louis chairs. Another element of the design scheme is the stationery.

The invitation suite remains on the simple side, while the envelope liner suffices the need for a pop of color against the white paper. The vellum paper placed on top of the invitation is tied off with a bow to complete the suite. Other stationery elements, the menu and the placecards, are similar to the invitation, but differ a bit with the raw edge. A good way to separate your design from others is a unique cake! With this cake in particular, we decided to keep the classic look of a white wedding cake, but leaned the cake to one side for a modern twist. The last element was adding flowers to the cake that tied in the florals on the guest tables! The last element of the shoot was finding the perfect wedding gown. Just as we repurposed the florals from the ceremony to the reception- this dress was used by a previous bride, but came to life again for our styled shoot!

How to Add Color to a Blank Canvas Wedding Venue With Confidence!

When it comes to blank canvases – color is your best friend. And this inspiration shoot from Callista & Company with floral design by Remi and Gold proves just that. The full gallery, captured by Allen Tsai, is loaded with pops of bright blooms and hanging installations against the clean white walls of the Prospect House. Not to mention the most gorgeous ruffled gown from Alexandra Grecco. Allow this shoot to give you a major dose of confidence to play with color at your wedding.

From Callista & Company… When Allen Tsai approached me to design a workshop shoot at Prospect House in Austin, I jumped at the opportunity to incorporate color at a venue that provides such an amazing blank palette space on such a scenic piece of land. Our design exhibited central themes of minimalism, intentionality, brights balanced by a base of neutrals, and a sense of contemporary romance.

Bold flowers tied together all aspects of the design from cocktails, to flat lays, dinner tables, stationery, the seating chart, cake, and even attire. Remi and Gold provided the most beautiful blooms, which were a cornerstone of the overall design. Grey and Cake designed contemporary color-blocked stationery paired with floral envelope liners.

Birch was carried throughout, including guest welcome gift trays, the seating chart, wood-backed dinner menus, as well as guest ceremony and dining chairs. We set a square oriented ceremony with a central hanging installation and a wall of bud vases in the background. Allen Tsai captured everything perfectly.

This might just be the cutest wedding we’ve ever seen! We’re obsessed with all the bright colors that bring everything about this charming Texas wedding to life. Alexa Kay Events thoughtfully planned every detail, like the mixed array of china set on the most romantic tablescapes we’ve ever seen! The Lockharts perfectly captured the fun and love of the day in their incredible imagery. From Alexa Kay Events… Tori and Elliot are a fun-loving, laid back couple who have been together for just over 5 years. They wanted their wedding night to be a relaxed but fun, warm and welcoming celebration with loved ones. This is why they picked Clark Gardens. The entire vibe of the venue is whimsical, it even has a love story behind its beginning!

Alba Dahlia Floral did the floral and Tori could not have been happier with how it turned out! The Lockharts shot their wedding and you won’t believe what you are seeing. From the life-giving colors to the radiance of the fall setting,the images seem to jump off the page!

Having muted tones accented with a few bolder colors reflects so well in every setting of Tori and Elliot’s dream day. From the sparkling gold in the place settings to the pop of pink in the bride’s bouquet this whimsical garden wedding was a dream not only to plan but to watch and be a part of in every way.

This New Year’s Eve Wedding Is Better Than The Ball Dropping

Considering a holiday for your wedding date? You’re not going to want to miss this sweet celebration. From the champagne, sequin bridesmaids dresses to glimmering gold accents, the entire affair screams chic from start to finish. Elaine And Lee Event And Design pulled out all the stops to create an atmosphere worthy of ushering in the New Year. All the elegance was captured in the sweet snaps by Madeline Trent. New Year’s Eve just got a little more magical, check it out in the full gallery.

From Madeline Trent… The Ivory Oak was such a beautiful and romantic setting for Michael and Brianna to ring in the New Year together as husband and wife. The couple live in Nashville, Tennessee, but chose Austin for their destination wedding since they met at St. Edward’s University.

Brianna wore a mermaid style Stella York gown and carried part of her mother’s wedding dress wrapped around the stem of her bridal bouquet. The color palette of ivory, cream, and champagne was echoed in the stunning blooms arranged by Ida Mayes Floristry.

Following dinner, the dance floor was packed until the midnight countdown to the New Year. The couple started off the New Year as husband and wife and set off on their honeymoon to Italy after the reception.

The Bride’s Father Hand-Potted Over 500 Plants to Decorate Her Wedding Venue and the Results Are Incredible!

We truly can’t get over how special this day is. From details inspired by meaningful moments throughout the couple’s relationship to the fact that the bride’s father hand-potted over 500 plants to make his daughter’s day better than her wildest dream… I mean, it just doesn’t get sweeter than this, folks! From Flora & Whim… Madison & William met at church in 2017. In fact, Madison’s parents first introduced themselves to William and insisted they meet their daughter as they were certain he would be her husband… WHAT! So cute! Their wedding day was inspired by a few special elements. Early in their dating relationship, William nicknamed Madison “birdie.” We incorporated the bird theme throughout; from the paper goods to the “Birds of Feather Flock Together” seating chart display to the bird table numbers. The bride and groom also had their first dance to the song “Birds” by Imagine Dragons.

A year into their relationship, William proposed in a beautiful butterfly garden. Butterflies have a special meaning for our bride so we incorporated butterflies in her bridal bouquet and on the wedding cake. Lastly, Madison’s father is an exceptional gardener! We created a romantic garden party for our couple– complete with hundreds and hundreds of potted plants.

The bride’s father hand-potted every single rose, plant & herb that filled the venue; nearly 400 potted plants to decorate their ceremony aisle, reception tables and 200 tiny potted herbs that guests took home as a favor. We decided to go with Flying V Ranch in Decatur, TX because of the beautiful ceremony set up. Guests sat on white washed vintage church pews as Madison and Bill said their vows under a 200 year old oak tree. We wanted to pay homage to to the church that Madison grew up in and the one that they began their relationship in by utilizing the church pew seating. To further the garden theme, bridesmaids donned gowns in blues, blush, mauve and mismatching floral patterns. They carried beautiful single varietal bouquets as Madison carried a lush bouquet that incorporated each of the blooms her maids carried.

Today’s gorgeous wedding at Prospect House is every modern bride’s dream who isn’t afraid of a little pop of color. Tell us how you and your spouse met!

From the Bride… We met each other 10 years ago when I sat next to him on the first day of our macroeconomics class. I arrived fashionably late to class, and the only seat available was next to him in the front row! A few years into our relationship, I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of joining the Peace Corps. I packed my bags and moved to a remote village in Cameroon. He supported me every step of the way with daily phone calls and monthly care packages. It was during this period of our lives when both of us realized how much we love and appreciate each other. In the middle of my service, he took me on a trip around Europe that ended in a picture-perfect proposal in front of Trevi Fountain.

What inspired your wedding concept and style?

After 10 years, it feels like we’ve lived 100 lifetimes together. This feeling set the tone for the day, which was filled with personal details such as juju hats, woven baskets, ceramic water pitchers, and delicate watercolored details. With the help of the brilliant team at Amorology and our amazing photographer, Sophie Epton, the entire day was a dream.

Invitation suite:

A ton of thought went into our invitations! We wanted an invitation suite that was fun, unique, and personal. After Caroline from Lovely Paper Things learned about the juju hats hanging in our living room from my time in the Peace Corps, she came up with a brilliant idea of a “juju hat” invitation suite. When it laid flat, it was an invitation with all our important information, but guests could turn it into their own juju hat art piece by fluffing the ends.

The trifold itself was a beautiful, personal work of art. Inspired by our theme of “100 lifetimes together” and African mudcloth, each box represents a different part of our relationship (past, present, and our hopes for the future). There are tacos and limes from our first “date” when we drove to Mexico in the middle of the night, a deconstructed golden gate bridge for our time in San Francisco, and symbolism for our hopes for the future (happiness, love, growth, and wisdom). The envelope liner contained beautiful watercolored images with more personal details (“bug” is the groom’s nickname for the bride, and the flower is a symbol found on a popular print in West Africa ironically called “fleur de marriage” or wedding flowers.) The juju hat sat inside the trifold which was reminiscent of opening a care package.

Since writing letters and notes was always an important part of our relationship, we enclosed a well wishes card for guests to share their thoughts, favorite memories, and advice. By providing the cards in advance, we hoped it would encourage more sentimental, heartfelt notes, which it fortunately did! When they arrived, guests were asked to place cards in a ceramic water pitcher.

Escort Cards:

For our escort, guests found their seats from different shaped hourglasses tied with small calligraphed tags with guests’ names and table numbers which sat on brass and wood trays and stands. They were placed upon a modern wood table under gold vinyl on the wall reading “I’d choose you in a hundred lifetimes.” They were so popular with our guests, we didn’t have any leftovers!

Special touches:

Our wedding was a three-day event to allow more time with our friends and family. The night before we invited guests for “coffee and cocktails” at the coffee shop that we used to frequent in college. The day after the wedding we hosted a casual brunch at our Airbnb.

We had an intimate wedding ceremony which was limited to immediate family. In the months leading up to the wedding, we wrote our mutual wedding vows that we recited together. In fact, we had three sets of vows: one mutual, and vows to each other. Following our ceremony, we had a private picnic where we read our personal vows to each other, and I gave him his wedding present: a children’s book of our story illustrated by Loren at Four Things Paper. (We collect children’s books every time we visit a new country or place).

There were nods to Cameroon, a country that I hold dear in my heart: five juju hats adorned the walls behind the head table and a mixture of kola nuts and cinnamon sticks were placed on each guest’s plate to welcome them. During times of celebration in Cameroon, families and friends dress in outfits cut from the same cloth, called pagne, as a way of expressing support and solidarity. We loved this idea, so Caroline designed beautiful custom scarves and pocket squares as gifts for our ceremony guests. Even our wedding cake was designed in full mudcloth with the symbols specifically chosen to represent our favorite adventures together (camping next to the Nyiragongo volcano in the DRC, Christmas in Cameroon, and our waterfall adventures).

In addition to the custom fabric, Caroline from Lovely Paper Things beautifully carried the personalized design from our invitations into the programs, menus, signs, and a watercolored map. The groom’s favorite detail from the wedding was his “aioli bar” – complete with a dozen aiolis and a calligraphed sign of a popular quote from the groom: “Can I sample all the aoilis?”

We are forever grateful to the amazing design and planning team at Amorology. They were with us from the very beginning and saw every detail through to the very end – We can’t thank them enough for all their help finding us the best vendors and executing the design perfectly on the wedding day.

When an Inspiration Shoot Turns Into a Vow Renewal, We Easily Fall In Love!

This inspiration shoot with the perfect mix of Southern Charm and deep, rich tones turned into the sweetest vow renewal between this groom and groom! With an elegant ceremony setting and not one, but two table designs for each of the groom’s style, designed by Pearl Events Austin this shoot at Woodbine Mansion is everything! Beautifully crafted centerpieces by Gypsy Floral and stunning paper goods by Pink Champagne, we simply cannot get enough! Take a look below and see all that Jenna McElroy so beautifully captured!

From Jenna McElroy Photo…This sweet real-life couple was able to renew their vows with their closest friends in attendance for this styled shoot turned vow renewal surrounded by the couple’s dearest friends.

Jen Seals, of Pearl Events, used rich tones, and drop-dead gorgeous florals to bring this sweet and intimate day to life! The inspiration of the day was a perfect mix of southern charm and deep rich tones, which matched perfectly with the venue setting.

Jen accentuated the bold table settings (yes there were 2 different style tables!) with a vibrantly patterned linen, and then had Gypsy Floral incorporate fruit into the table display to provide both tables filled with gorgeous textures. We wanted each groom to have a table representing his style of the day.

The rich tones of yellows, deep greens, and the hops that added a fun element to the Southern charm that Woodbine Mansion exudes. This was a wonderful day of celebrating the love of these two grooms!

Bold Blue Living Room Filled with DIY Hacks

This living room tour by Chari Herndon is just FAB. They way she spiced up her furniture with some bold DIY hacks proves that you can do anything that you put your mind to. We’re obsessed.

I get so many questions about my bold and colorful space, and how I maximized the space in a smaller living room. I decorated my 805sqft uptown Houston apartment on a budget.

I purchased all of my decor, accents , and furniture from Wayfair, IKEA, and Target. I completed DIY hacks on my IKEA coffee table, bookshelf, and barcart (I love a good IKEA hack).

Color, is one thing I am not afraid of in my home, and cobalt blue and gold reign true in my space. My artwork was commissioned by the artist, Whitey Austin, who created my 3 one of a kind canvas paintings for my space. It’s always been a dream of mine to own black artwork, and these three paintings are my most prized possessions. I am the blogger behind chichomestyle. Com.

I love entertaining, so I wanted to style a space that’s welcoming, but also is a reflection of my bold and bubbly personality. A space that is lively and full of color.

I have often times felt restricted as to what I can do with a a space I’m renting. It’s pushed me to be more creative with my styling, and design choices, and I think I’ve successfully designed a home that is the perfect reflection of me!

This Whimsical Texas Wedding Gives Us All The Feels

This Texas wedding rivals the beauty of a sunrise. We can’t help but be reminded of the loveliest time of the day as we swoon over the blush, amber, and neutral accented color palette. Lucas and Elizabeth’s wedding was full of whimsy and romance. Guests were delighted at every turn, from an outdoor ceremony featuring trees dripping with ethereal blooms to a dance floor decorated with an equally awe-inspiring balloon installation. Wild Sky Events artfully brought the couple’s fall celebration to life and Chassie of Crown of Glory Beauty matched Elizabeth’s glowing bridal look with the autumnal wedding palette. From Wild Sky Events… The couple wanted a wedding that felt modern, architectural, textured but also romantic. The design for this wedding was all about structure mixed with whimsy and romance. We wanted all the elements to feel purposeful and have a refined shape but not feel too modern and over-styled.

For the ceremony, Clementine Botanical Arts designed a beautiful floral installation with foraged branches, lush large blooms with an elegant line. As for the ceremony aisle, we kept it very simple with two lush arrangements and custom made thirty feet woven rug.

For the reception, we wanted to create the look of a vintage botanical greenhouse. We installed greenery on every possible surface to help create that look! For the tablescape, we focused on texture and color. Oatmeal velvet linens, paired with amber linen napkins and ceramic china complimented the lovely blush, amber, and neutral floral color palette. It came together like a dream!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream Wedding Under a Sprawling Silk White Tent – This Day Is a Total MUST See!

From the bride’s romantic Hayley Paige dress, to the veil made by her grandmother, to the reception dripping with crystals and greenery – today’s wedding is filled with endless beauty at every turn. Tami Winn Events planned the sweet couple’s dream wedding day to perfection, leaving no detail left unturned, while Stephanie Brazzle Photography was there to capture every breathtaking moment. From the Bride… Kyle and I met 2 ½ years ago at Texas A&M University. He was finishing up his last semester of college, and I was a junior. We were in the same class together, and Kyle asked if I would be his partner for a group project after the professor said “Pick someone you don’t know very well.” At the end of the semester he asked me to his last date party of college. I did not think much of it since he was graduating, but after a summer spent a part because of my internship in New York City, we were head over heels for each other. Kyle is from Austin and moved back to his hometown after he graduated.

It was not until last October (2017) that we were in the same city and got engaged all in the same month! Picking where we wanted the wedding to be was an easy decision. We were going to make Fort Worth our home together, and TX Whiskey is a Fort Worth staple. We got to tour their new venue, Whiskey Ranch, before it even opened. It was built on a beautiful golf course that overlooked Fort Worth. The downtown skyline made it perfect for a dreamy reception. The owners even came out to greet us while we were there, and we just knew it would be special to showcase such a unique place as one of their first weddings! I had always pictured myself getting married in a silk white tent, and dancing underneath the stars.

When we booked our venue for July, I wanted to capture that classic, midsummer night’s dream look. This inspiration was reflected in our décor, from the flowers to the linens to the stage and bar facades. The streaming crystals and cascading greenery were more than anything I could imagine! I wanted to create an atmosphere that overflowed with romance while keeping it botanical and timeless. There were also a couple elements we added because it was important to us for our guests to have a blast! We decided to add a couple pops of gold glitter for the champagne wall and dance floor. We brought in a liquid nitrogen ice cream machine so people could have boozy refreshments and cool off from the heat, and we were also really intentional about picking a fantastic band. At the end of the night, we brought in light up cowboy hats and honey butter chicken biscuits made by our amazing caterer. The dance floor was full of people and energy the entire night! One of the most fun appointments was designing the groom’s cake. I wanted it to reflect who Kyle was as a person, so I got a little crazy with it. Kyle is the perfect combination of a musician who loves all thing sports and food. From the sushi to the stickers on the guitar case, all of the 3D objects on the cake were representations of things Kyle loves. We even included an Italian flag because we traveled together to Italy with his family, and that was where he told me he loved me for the very first time.

Shopping for my wedding dress was really special for me! Before I even met Kyle, I had spotted a Hayley Paige ad in a wedding magazine with a dress that I could not get out of my head. Once I got engaged, I had a wonderful day of dress shopping with my sister, mom, and bridesmaids, but as soon as I tried that dress on for the first time I realized I had always known this would be my dress I would wear on my wedding day. It was also special because I got to wear the veil that my great grandmother had made for my sister – in – law when she married my brother. My sister also got to wear it for her wedding. We were all very close to her, so it meant so much to have a piece of my great grandmother with me that day. My wedding planner had the great idea of incorporating the lace from my dress into details of the wedding too. The wedding invitation, the cake, and bar facades were all designed to reflect my wedding dress! When the wedding day came it was a complete dream. I still look back and wish I could relive every second. The best moments were seeing the little details that probably no one else noticed come alive. From Kyle singing and recording our first dance song to writing our own vows, for us it was about celebrating our journey that brought us to this day. I will never forget the many appointments with my mom, the dance lessons with my dad, and planning those minute but meaningful details, such as picking out scripture readings with Kyle. Looking back on the day, I hope our wedding was a testament of what a loving God we have; and I hope it was a celebration-to-be-remembered for those who poured their time and energy into helping Kyle and me become the couple we are today.

You Won’t Believe This Chic Private Home Wedding Was Planned in Just 3 Weeks!

There is so much heart in this sweet, intimate wedding planned in just 3 weeks by the couple, their loving family and friends who all chipped in, and Maggie Francisco who led the way! The gorgeous couple (no seriously they could be models they’re so beautiful) decided to tie the knot at the bride’s parents’ newly finished home decorated with minimalist greenery and neutral colors. The bride’s son and daughter looked beyond adorable as their ring bearer and flower girl (heart melting!!) From Meggie Franciso Events… When a woman with four sisters meets a man with four brothers, it’s easy to suspect that fate might be at play. That’s exactly what happened when Meghan McFarland and Jacob Nelan were finally introduced by Meghan’s father. It wasn’t long before the couple knew they were meant to be, and after Jacob asked for Meghan’s hand in marriage, they had no hesitation in planning the wedding!

Meghan’s parents were in the process of building a beautiful new home, and the couple envisioned a small, intimate ceremony there – in three weeks. In a pinch for time, the bride made a miraculous find with a knockout off-the-rack Monique Lhullier gown at Dallas bridal salon Warren Barron. She also contacted family friend Allison Lockett of Equally Yolked Events right away for help with the catering. Several talented family members stepped in to handle floral, cake, and officiating. During in-depth consultations with the couple’s beloved photographer, Jennefer Wilson, Meghan and Jacob began to realize that even with such a strong team on board, they needed more help. Their small wedding vision had ballooned into a much larger affair with over 100 guests! Jennefer suggested they bring in destination wedding planner Meggie Francisco to work her magic on the event.

With fresh leadership on board, the concept came together effortlessly. A seating chart quickly brought much-needed organization to the event, and Francisco provided expert guidance to create a smooth flow throughout the home. As guests arrived, they enjoyed a refreshing spa water station and gathered in the backyard for the private ceremony. During the processional, the couple’s siblings walked around the sparkling pool to join up and take a seat beside the covered gazebo. The bride took her time, stepping with her dad down a beautiful oak wood staircase. As “I Get to Love You” by Ruelle came to a crescendo, a set of floor-to-ceiling glass windows opened for her grand entrance.

After the couple celebrated their vows with their first kiss, guests socialized in the beautiful front courtyard of the home. They enjoyed light bites from a charcuterie display and mingled over fresh sparkling mock-tails garnished with rosemary and thyme. Meanwhile, the couple escaped for a private photo session in a romantic nook of the neighborhood. They wandered through any idyllic field of tall grasses surrounded by cypress trees; the scene could have been plucked right out of Tuscany!

When it came time for dinner, guests gathered together at three long tables set with pure white linens, elegant white taper candles, and modern place cards. Delicate greenery hung from the chandeliers above the tables and wandered down the centers of the tables. Equally Yolked served up a delectable buffet of the couple’s favorite Greek food, and the meal ended sweetly with decadent cake baked personally by family member Allison Fox. After dinner, everyone went outside for a dance party beside -and inside! – the glowing pool. The new Mr. And Mrs. Nelan were sent off by their closest loved ones under a canopy of sparklers.

This Couple Turned Their Centerpieces into A Flower Bar At The End of Their Wedding!

An all-white wedding with hints of light gray is what Olive & Belle planned for today’s beautiful feature at the Villa Del Lago in Austin, Texas. A stunning and, classic outdoor ceremony and reception made up for the day and Honey Gem Creative captured it all! The special couple wanted to incorporate special details for their guests including taking the centerpieces by Lovelily Flowers and creating a flower bar for guests to take home with them! From Lovelily Flowers…Liz + Alex were absolutely dream clients of mine. They were the perfect cocktail of classic meets creative. We incorporated this feeling within the florals by keeping an all-white palette while mixing in dried, bleached, and painted foliages to add sparks of interest. They cared deeply about their guests and focused on making the night special. With that, we decided to break down centerpieces after dinner, and use these florals to create a flower bar! We handed out individually wrapped posies at the end of the evening for the guests to take home with them! It was an unforgettable night!

From the Bride and Groom…

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning? We had a very simple vision for our wedding, we wanted three points to be covered. 1. Fun 2. Memorable and 3. Simple, Elegant and Reflective of our Personalities

What was your color palette and your style vision?

We are big fans of muted pastel colors so we tried to keep with that and ended up with blue and grey hues which ended up complimenting the day really well.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

We didn’t have too many DIY details, but Elizabeth picked some really unique elements as part of the wedding which included 1 really long table for everyone to sit at, tied instead of folded napkins, a champagne tower, and fireworks!

What was your favorite moment?

Our absolute most favorite moment was seeing all of our family and friends sitting together for dinner at one long table. It’s something we will more than likely never see again so in that moment in time it was extra special.

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?

Stay true to your self and do exactly what you want. It can be easy to get influenced by others but don’t do it, stay authentic to your desires and the day will be fun, genuine and filled with love.

How did you meet?

A love that sparked on Spring Break AND CONTINUED AROUND THE WORLD From Sweden to London. From Italy to Portugal. From Aruba to the US. Our love story began in Panama City Beach, FL back in 2010. Alex and Liz were enjoying the fruits of life on a college spring break (the kind of spring break you used to see on MTV) and bonded over a rambunctious night out. The two didn’t go to the same school nor lived in the same country but they stayed connected over the years. Their lives would go on separately for quite some time, but there was never much time passing without a gentle reminder of the presence of each other through a comment, like or text message. It wasn’t until Alex resided for a year in the US for an internship that they finally got to meet up. Alex came to Houston for a week, and instantly neither wanted to be without the other. They knew it wasn’t going to be easy as there were life commitments such as college, let alone an ocean (the Atlantic Ocean to be exact) between them. Fast forward 7 years worth of memories, many air miles earned and used and Alex turning into a fully-fledged Texan (or so he claims!) and we’re ready to share the next chapter of committing to forever with our family and friends!

From Keestone Events… “Are we in Paris?” That was the first line that came to mind upon discovering that The Olana, a French-inspired estate, existed. It’s one of the quickest concepts for any styled shoot that has come to fruition on my end, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share the end result with you. This baroque estate sits on forty acres and was built as an homage to the Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte in Paris.

With its marble floors, hand-carved detailing and rich wallpaper tapestries, we wanted to do a full shoot that would try and do the space justice. First, we started with a boudoir shoot of the bride, that had free-flowing greenery climbing up the walls of one of the suites. In this room, there is a variety of hand-carved wall trims, framing gold-flecked, damask wallpaper. This greenery was then repeated in the lap pool area of the estate. Having both these areas highlighted with lush greenery and blooms brought about a sense of movement and fragility to the spaces that helped accentuate the femininity and elegance of the bride.

The grandeur of the estate needed an elegant and regal figure to represent the couple that was envisioned. To present this image, the styling was paramount and we had two different hair and makeup looks, along with outfit changes for the couple to depict that. The first at the ceremony was a demure portrayal, with the bride’s hair in loose waves and subtle, more natural makeup. Here, the bride wore a delicate, flowing gown with intricate floral detailing on its sheer long sleeves. That pattern is repeated throughout the dress, that complemented her bouquet and organic arch perfectly! The groom wore a three-piece suit with a gray pattern.

At the reception, we kicked things up a notch and wanted to bring outfits that you don’t typically see often at a reception, but one that we think really showcases the personalities of the couple! While the groom looked dapper in a salmon suit, the bride wore a jumpsuit (all the better to move in) that we paired with a flowy, sheer coat. We wanted the tablescape to be a good contrast against the estate and had a whimsical take on it, with a velvet pink table linen, paired with lush centerpieces and a variety of dessert. To tie the elegance of the location to the setting however, we used minimal plateware and stationery, that balanced well with the stone slabs of the estate.

How One Couple Transformed Their Indoor Venue into a Midsummer Night’s Dream!

Whimsical, romantic, colorful, floral-filled – a complete and utter dream. These are just a few words we would use to describe today’s stunning Dallas, TX wedding planned and designed by The Wildflowers. The bride couldn’t have looked more beautiful on her big day donning a long sleeve Berta gown as she held a cheerful, cascading bouquet that will hypnotize you with its sheer beauty. From Rebecca of The Wildflowers… Instead of an elaborate Pinterest board, Stephanie presented five adjectives that expressed her vision—among them “whimsical,” “modern,” “elegant,” “unique,” and “colorful.” As a designer, there is no better way to bring a new vision of what we are celebrating than with the inspiration of words, feelings, and the personal story of the couple. Getting to know Stephanie made creating a storied setting exceptionally easy. Immediately my mind went to the storybook landscape of The Cotswolds, the intricate French moldings of The Adolphus’ 19th floor ballroom, a Midsummer Night’s Dream, and a dreamy palette of inky midnight blues, emerald, thistle, and rose, all coupled together for a delightfully intimate feel.

The ceremony florals were whimsical and lush, taking cues from the gardens that provided inspiration. The almost-infinite growing aisle juxtaposed with a modern indoor ballroom is what truly made it a unique. What was even more magical was watching Stephanie cascade down the aisle to Henry Mancini’s choral version of “Moon River.”

Après-ceremony, guests were invited for cocktails among the historic hotel’s newly updated foyer, which was dressed in mid-century modern furnishings and Cy Twombly-like paintings throughout, with the sounds of soul and jazz scoring the evening. Guests were invited back inside the ballroom for dinner, greeted by tables dressed in cut glass and mineral tealight votives, floral-framed menus as a gentle nod to the French framed mirrors of the ballroom, miniature favor boxes tied in emerald silk ribbon bows, and bud vases of ranunculus, sweet peas, garden roses, clematis, peonies, and muscari nestled throughout.

After a treat of Charred Corn, Lump Crab and Poblano Soup, Petite Texas Filet Mignon, Cedar Plank Salmon, Rainbow Fingerling Potatoes, Wilted Arugula, Grilled Asparagus, guests enjoyed dancing, cake, and revelry. As the night grew darker, guests guided the bride and groom to their getaway car, signaling the end to a magical evening.

The Stationery:

The Adolphus’ 19th floor ballroom has beautiful, ornate gold framed mirrors in the space. I created a gentle nod to the framed mirrors by designing Stephanie’s save the date with simple gold writing and her invitations with frame details, this time of florals. Hand-calligraphed escort cards in dark teal with mineral tea light votives and bud vases welcomed guests as they entered the reception. The menu was displayed in a similar floral frame as the invitation, this time with different blooms, a butterfly, and a hand painted ribbon detail. I created a custom font that included digitized floral illustrations climbing throughout the letter, used as the first initial for the guest’s name, followed by hand-calligraphy to complete the full name for the place card.

The Cake:

Lemon cake, raspberry preserves, vanilla mousseline, Italian buttercream and red velvet cake, cream cheese icing with Italian buttercream!

The Bouquet:

The bride’s beautiful bouquet was a cascading bouquet of clematis, daffodils, sweet peas, peonies, muscari, and garden roses.

The favors were delicious Kate Weiser chocolates wrapped in white boxes and green silk ribbon, set at place setting.

The Welcome Gifts:

Welcome gifts for hotel guests included San Pellegrino glass bottles, Lammes Texas Pralines, and a welcome note with the wedding weekend itinerary.

The Proposal Story

From the Bride… After we graduated college I thought he possibly would propose soon after, though nothing happened. Then when my birthday came in June I thought it may have been then, but still nothing happened. Though, he really surprised me when on the 4th of July we had a casual day by the pool and said he got us some reservations to go to dinner that night at a seafood restaurant that was supposed to be really good. We ended up going to restaurant and I was thinking nothing of it – we order our food & drinks and before we could finish or even receive our food he popped the question since he didn’t want to wait any longer! We celebrated and finished our meal with a few glasses of champagne and then afterwards his family was there and we took pictures and had a very low key celebration.

What were some unique or special wedding details?

I am the first in my family to get married and since Joe and I have been together for so long I felt there was a lot of excitement around the event. Since Joe and I grew up together our friend groups are the exact same – our high school friends have seen our relationship grow through the years but also our college friends grew to know us as a couple over several years. Since we are the first of our friend groups to get married there was even more excitement from our friends to celebrate!

What were some of your favorite moments of the day?

I think the most special thing we did during our wedding which we were so glad that we did was during our reception dinner – we walked to each table to greet each person and thank them for coming. It was so nice being able to see everyone we invited and give everyone the chance to feel special and part of our day. We ended up getting so many more candid photos and had many touching moments going table to table!

First Look – Both of us were very excited since I knew he was clueless about my dress (and he knows my obsession with fashion so the dress was super important to me). We were both so calm after seeing each other and everything was perfect. We could hardly keep a serious face when taking photos we were just laughing so much talking to each other about various things like our dogs and what our friends all were doing today. We last saw each other the night before when we all went out to a bar in Dallas with our wedding party and friends from out of town!Any advice for future brides/grooms?
The main thing we learned in the process is getting a wedding planner is the best decision you can make! With both of us working full time jobs, having two puppies, and trying to keep up with our social lives- we needed help planning & executing our vision. Finding someone who has the same aesthetic and taste as your own makes it even simpler when you both gravitate towards the same ideas and designs. Rebecca could not have been any more perfect for the vision I had!

Every Modern Bride Is About to Fall in Love with This Gallery-Like Space in Austin

In case you weren’t already convinced – there is sooo much beauty in simplicity, and this wedding at our new fave Austin venue proves just that. With the help of Wild Sky Events, the bride and groom’s vision of a minimalistic wedding with a garden-like feel came to life – complete with romantic and warm touches at every turn. Color Theory Collective created the most beautiful arrangements in neutral hues that perfectly complimented the white walls and natural wooden elements. The Design:

From Wild Sky Events… Our design goal was to create a minimalist garden vibe that still felt warm and romantic. We focused on a gorgeous floral color palette, natural textures for linens and fabrics, wood and leather accents and bringing those key elements into all aspects of the design. From the fabric ceiling installation to the fabric on the sofa and chairs, to the wood backing on the invitations or the leather accents on the seating chart. It was all about subtle details with this wedding.

Where did you get married and why did you choose that location?

From the bride and groom, Amanda and Chuck… Chuck actually picked it out. We both really liked it for its interesting architecture. It is so simple and beautiful. My best friend and bridesmaid was still living in Austin. I actually had her go and look at it before we put a deposit down. I saw it in person a few months later and was blown away.

What was your design inspiration?

I wanted natural, clean colors. I wanted something that was organic and light. I really just wanted to highlight how beautiful Prospect House is on it’s own. I think we made good decisions on a few things and that made all the difference.

What did you learn throughout the wedding process?

I learned how important it was to have a great vendor team. Hiring a wedding planner was the best decision I made. Wild Sky Events (Kate) helped me find all my other vendors. I didn’t have to spend hours searching for a florist or DJ because she already had people she recommended. They were people she’s worked with before and I trusted her opinion. Before planning my wedding I did not think lighting or rentals were important or something to spend money on. Kate taught me how important lighting is! Every decision you make for your wedding can seem like the most important decision, but at the end of the day, you just want your wedding to reflect who you are as a couple.

Celebrating Indian Heritage with a Stunning Traditional American Wedding

Can we take a moment to appreciate the beauty that comes from two heritages combining in a day of celebration and love? Shivani & Jeffrey’s union was exactly that, and SO incredibly stunning—from the Hindu-Indian ceremony to the traditional American reception, in large part thanks to 36th Street Events. You’ll want to read their sweet story below and make sure to peruse the full gallery of images, all captured by Julie Wilhite Photography.

From Julie Wilhite Photography… Shivani and Jeffrey had an incredible multi-cultural wedding on April 20th, 2019. The two combined her Indian heritage with a traditional American wedding seamlessly, and I was so honored to photograph it. Their ceremony was a traditional Hindu Indian ceremony, with the reception a traditional American one.

The couple met on Hinge, a dating app, in 2015, after they both recently moved to Dallas. Shivani completely forgot about the first date while Jeff left another dinner early to meet her for drinks. After a sweet reminder text, Shivani got ready in 15 minutes, completely playing it cool. A couple drinks later and the rest is history! Fast forward through 3 years worth of memories including a few mountains climbed, passports stamped, and the addition of their furry friend, Henry, to the family, Jeff finally popped the big question at sunrise on a hike in Sedona, AZ. Needless to say, Shivani said yes!

The bride, groom and wedding party wore two different outfits. For the Hindu ceremony, Shivani wore a stunning handmade custom lehenga, a long skirt paired with a crop top and embroidered scarf, that was a soft blue and covered in gold beading. It was so intricate, and a work of art. They hired a personal stylist and shopper to create the outfits for the Indian ceremony. All the outfits for the bride, groom and wedding party were handmade in Indian and dip-dyed to the perfect shade of blue. Shivani wanted her outfit to be a non-traditional color and Jeff’s favorite color is blue, so it was easy to pick the soft blue color as the tying theme in the wedding party outfits.

Shivani’s bridal jewelry was a mix of family heirlooms and custom made pieces from Houston, Texas. The bridal jewelry set was gold plated with Kundan stones, pomegranate colored beads with a hint of blue. The gold bangles were a gift from her maternal grandparents and she wore a gold ring studded with diamonds on my right hand which was an heirloom from my grandmother.

For her American reception, Shivani wore a beaded fit and flare gown by Maggie Sottero. It was from Mockingbird Bridal in Dallas, a store which has been a Dallas staple for wedding gowns. The bride’s reception jewelry was gifted by her parents, and she wore emerald cut drop diamond earrings paired with a rose-cut diamond necklace all set in platinum gold. She also wore her mom’s Rado watch as her something borrowed.

Shivani’s childhood best friend and bridesmaid, Anjali Chatwani, the owner of Glam Angelique, did the hair and makeup for all of the events, which was a special touch for the bride!

First, there was the Baraat. As the bride explains… “There is a pre-wedding ceremony called the Baraat. The Baraat is a procession of the groom’s family and friends singing and dancing around him to music. The Baraat is very much the jumpstart for the wedding day – it kicks-off the celebration with excitement, singing, dancing, and laughter and carries the groom right up to the ceremony. It typically begins somewhere down the street from the wedding venue. Then, over the course of 20-30 minutes, the groom and his family, accompanied by music, make their way up the street singing and dancing. The Baraat is met by the bride’s family at the entrance to the wedding venue. It symbolizes the pleasure and happiness of the groom’s family in accepting the bride as a part of their family; as their very own. The Milni (the meeting of families) symbolizes the merging of the two clans. The bride’s family, usually the bride’s mother, performs an Aarti (welcome prayer) for the groom’s family.”

The groom and guests had so much fun, and even had color bombs during the Baraat! They danced to the venue, which was the Four Season Austin. Their traditional Hindu Indian ceremony took place under gorgeous trees and included many new and old traditions, including the Jai Mala Garland Exchange, Ganesh Pooja, Kanyadan and Gath Bandhan. Then they took their seven steps together, called the Saptapadi. Each step signifies a vow that they promise to uphold together. They took time after to tell each other their personal vows to one another, then sealed it with a kiss!

There was a break before the cocktail hour so guests could change into black tie outfits for the cocktail hour and ceremony, which took place inside the Four Seasons ballroom. The tables were covered in metallic tablecloths, with gold accents throughout. The bride wanted to bring the outdoors in with blush flowers, creams and lots of greenery, which was perfect for this spring day. It was such an honor to be able to photograph this beautiful wedding!

Some tips on planning your multi-cultural wedding, from the bride… Pick the best of both worlds. We focused on picking elements for our wedding events which were important to us and our families. Everything we did was guest-centric. We wanted to ensure all of our friends and families who had traveled from near and far had a good time with no logistical stress. We decided less was more in terms of the guest list. Coming from an Indian family, it was hard to keep the guestlist small but we made a conscious effort to stay around 250 guests so we could truly focus and spend quality time with our guests.

We’re Calling It Now: Ochre Will Be the “It” Color of Fall 2019 Weddings!

Right now we’re living for all things ochre, and the talented team at Birds of a Feather Events is filling our minds (and feeds) with endless ochre wedding inspiration – from attire to stationery and even blooms arranged beautifully by Max Owens Design (that bouquet is everything!) We couldn’t be more excited to see where our Fall 2019 brides take this gorg wedding color. From Charla Storey Photography… The Olana is a 40 acre estate, complemented by its own lake. Inspired by French baroque architecture, this mansion was built as an homage to Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte in Paris.

The estate features lush landscaping, a tea room modeled after New York’s Tavern on the Green, an indoor and outdoor pool, a tennis court, a bowling alley, a basketball court, expansive private suites and more. From the marble floors, to the gold-plated elevator, to the hand-carved spiral staircase –The Olana mansion is rich with elegant details.

This brand new Wedding Venue in Dallas TX asked out team to help them tell a story at this gorgeous new Venue. It was the perfect location to host this shootout idea for The Elevate Series, we had been dreaming up. The colors and tones paired perfectly with The Olana, and added romantic, dreamy, vibrant vibes.

Birds of a Feather Events, Max Owens Designs created a colorful summer time shoot that both fit the feel of the property but also brought out modern, delicate details. We love color and we love venues with a European feel and marrying concepts a new with old world is one of our favorite past times! This wild ochre garden is right out of a dream!

That ‘70s Glow! This Vintage-Inspired, Sunset Palette Will Make You Swoon

When we first laid eyes on this wedding’s color palette, it was love. Swirling, sunset colors of peach, amber, coral, mustard… we were done. But the palette was just the start of our love affair with this wedding, which was inspired by the bride’s favorite decade of style, the 1970s. With the help of Westcott Weddings, the ‘70s got a major glow-up with modern details that feel so fresh. From punchy blooms by Remi + Gold to chic lounge styling by Birch & Brass, every detail combines vintage sensibility with modern romance. And when the bride owns a paper goods & signage company—the aptly named Peach Paper + Design— you can expect the invitations to be some of the prettiest ever. Sophie Epton captured every last vintage detail to perfection, and you can see it all unfold in the full gallery!

From the photographer, Sophie Epton… What a day for Megan + Tyler! This was one of the most unique and beautiful weddings I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this year, and I’m so excited to be sharing it with Style Me Pretty! Since our bride, Megan, is in the wedding industry (she owns an incredible paper goods + signage company called Peach Paper + Design in Austin, TX) we knew she was going to plan an unbelievable wedding!

From the beginning, Megan knew that she wanted to pair a favorite decade of color and design with a throwback to the 1970s, but make it fresh and modern for today.

The wedding day was laced with gorgeous hues of mustards, yellows, peaches, pinks, greens, corals and amber that was such a fun pop of color and ode to the 1970s, including Megan’s mustard velvet linens from La Tavola, a serious favorite! Remi + Gold provided all the stunning, romantic florals that were a perfect balance to the decor while still keeping the look fresh and modern- and that floral tree for the ceremony?! To die for!

After a beautiful sun-drenched ceremony at the Greenhouse at Driftwood, guests got to enjoy the cocktail hour of the year with beautiful Birch & Brass leather and velvet lounges, an amazing food spread (including pretzels and beer cheese, an homage to the groom!) and they even had a 1970s style camper and lounge where a special choice of cocktails were mixed all night!

Guests dined and danced all night under a Sperry tent and the stars. And of course, with the bride owning her own paper goods company, she was able to provide so many bespoke pieces for the wedding- from the beautiful mustard and coral invitation suite, to the hand-pressed flowers used in all of her table numbers, to the fantastic illustrations of her own dogs (who the signature cocktails were named after!).

Megan’s touch on all of these pieces made for a wedding that was so uniquely her and was such a thrill to photograph. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I did capturing them!

Searching for a Wedding Venue in America That Looks Like a Parisian Château? We Found It!

Inspired by the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte in Paris, The Olana brings that old-world romance and delicate charm of France to the Lone Star State! This stunning shoot planned by Ivory & Vine Event Co. will transport you straight to an enchanted Parisian garden in Spring thanks to Something Pretty Floral‘s gorgeous arrangements at every turn, teeming with blush and cream blooms. This editorial session at the Olana was inspired by the architecture of the venue itself. Formally known as the Champ D’Or, The Olana was built to honor the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte in Paris.

We kept the venue at the heart of our design when concepting color palette, floral and rentals – the intricate wood carvings in the wall panels, the luxurious texture of the Parisian-inspired furnishings and the grand scale of the building inspired each element from our stationery suite to the place settings.

Something Pretty Floral provided lush, garden-inspired floral to evoke the feeling of a Parisian garden in springtime; incorporating soft, romantic blooms and lush greens. Our gown, the Amanda by Maria Farbinni, was a stunning gown laden with a gorgeous train and many intricate details like hand-sewn feathering and a dramatic, plunging neckline.

Maitee Miles transformed our bride with natural, glowy makeup and a loose, whispy updo. Our stationery suite from Sarah Ann Designs included sophisticated sketches of the venue, and many other gorgeous elements including a rich velvet envelope liner, and handwritten calligraphy. Our rentals provided by Perch, Top Tier and La Tavola helped to heighten the sense of luxury via neutral, linen-backed chairs and heavy, textured dishware. Our couple enjoyed spending time in their vintage 63 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, provided by Blue Diamond Limousines. Each of these elements was photographed in stunning vignettes by Stephanie Brazzle, who utilized the natural light of the grand windows at The Olana to elevate each image.
