Growing up in small-town Montana, block parties were a serious staple of my childhood. Our little city would shut down Main Street, set up some food booths + a stage for a band and dance the night away underneath the stars and historic buildings. It was awesome. So hosting a wedding in that exact same setting like these two lovelies? Pretty much genius… and the perfect way to celebrate “I do” with all of your fun-loving friends and family. It’s a block party to the extreme, and you can see every last awesome moment captured by Shaun Menary in the full gallery.

From Shaun Menary… Matt and Stacey Spillers originally wanted a rooftop wedding, but when the city denied the permit, the couple did what anybody would do… move it to the street! Matt owns the Spillers Group, a family business responsible for a few prominent restaurants in the Dallas area, one of which is Eno’s Pizza Tavern. On March 16, Matt and Stacy shut down the block in front of the restaurant (with the blessing of surrounding shop owners, of course) and said “I do” under a branch arbor erected smack dab in the middle of Bishop Avenue! The unsuspecting, yet pleasantly surprised Bishop Arts patrons who stumbled upon the nuptials lined the sidewalks to observe smilingly and snap a few cell phone photos. The local folk band Fox and the Bird serenaded the wedding guests from atop a flatbed trailer hitched to a vintage truck, and then the couple and their guests spent the rest of the evening dinin’, drinkin’ and dancin’ in the street.
Matt rocked a dapper Ted Baker suit, and Stacey was absolutely stunning in her ballroom gown, vintage jewelry, and tastefully pink lipstick and nail polish. And in lieu of a traditional wedding ring, she wears a vintage sapphire family heirloom. I mean, this couple has some seriously delightful style!
Stacey and Matt’s wedding completely embodied the spirit of the Bishop Arts district. Eno’s, which has become a staple of the neighborhood, prepared the food, and a local brewery, Four Corners, brought a unique beer brewed just for the occasion. Each table decoration was a unique assemblage of flowers, succulents, bottles and wood chips designed just a few doors down by Dirt. The festivities were flanked by the storefronts that give Bishop Avenue its character, all kind of like one big unique, artsy, homegrown, happy family!
This wedding was truly beautiful and unique, and it was such a pleasure to work with Matt and Stacey.
From the Bride… We didn’t really want to worry about the details; we just wanted to enjoy the process. So we carefully chose our vendors, got to know them really well, and then just handed all the creative authority over to them. Also, my husband was heavily involved throughout the whole process, and because of that, I felt like the wedding wasn’t just MINE, it was truly OURS.
