DIY Farmhouse Wedding in the Texas Hill Country from Austin Imagery

You know what every wedding needs?  A donkey.  A cuter than cute donkey, complete with a little feeding station, so that all of your guests can partake in the world’s sweetest meet and greet.  And in addition to all of that fun (+ total adorableness), it wouldn’t hurt if it was as pretty and love-filled as this gorgeous day captured by Austin Imagery.  Because this is a day that takes seriously stunning details and marries them with a charming Inn at Wild Rose Hall setting and a whole lot of happy.  See it all in the full gallery.

From Austin ImageryMegan and Andrew’s wedding day on March 15, 2013 was amazing! A vintage-inspired DIY wedding, the bride designed all the key elements of the wedding day including the invitations, all of the wedding day signage including the buntings, the table decor, the adorable table assignment tags and the wedding and reception flowers. The outdoor ceremony under the Texas sky and oak trees was lovely; Megan’s Mom walked her down the aisle and Megan’s best friend was her maid-of-honor while Andrew’s identical twin brother served as the best man. We so enjoyed photographing their wedding and reception at the vintage farmhouse turned wedding venue, The Inn at Wild Rose Hall in Dripping Springs, Texas. We also had a blast photographing the bride, groom and the guests feeding the DONKEYS! After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed the famous Amy’s ice cream in lieu of cake, had fun hamming it up in the vintage 1967 Airstream Photo Booth and dancing until midnight.

Tyler Texas Wedding at Centaur Arabian Farms from Hailey Erickson

Charming is a word we use a lot around these parts, but after spending some time with this lovely by Hailey Erickson Photography, I’ve come to the conclusion that this wedding is the definition of charming. Filled with sweet details and even sweeter little ones, it’s the type of wedding that will charm your socks right off, and it’s all waiting for you right here.

From the Bride… When Aaron and I started planning our wedding we knew we wanted a rustic look. Our search for a venue revolved around finding somewhere that we could incorporate a lot of burlap and Aaron’s cowboy boots. When we stumbled onto Centaur Arabian Farms, we fell in love with it! Not only is Centaur Arabian Farms a beautiful bed and breakfast and wedding venue, but also it was once an actual horse farm. Our ceremony was held under a gorgeous wooden pavilion where our guests had a view of the remaining Arabian horses in the background. After the ceremony, our guests moved to the completely renovated 13-stall barn where our reception was held. Our cakes were even displayed where the horses were once washed! The original wooden barn with added chandeliers and lace made it the perfect balance of country and elegance for our special day.

Even more than we loved our wedding venue we loved that our family played such a huge part in our wedding. From our sister-in-law capturing everything on camera to Aaron’s mom setting up the ultimate candy station, every one of our family members helped make the day perfect. One of the most memorable parts of our day was having Aaron’s older brother Drew as our officiant. The ceremony began with multiple embarrassing stories from Aaron’s childhood and ended with the sweetest vows in which I promised to always feed Aaron Chewy Chocolate Chips Ahoy (his favorite). The ceremony was very us, and having Drew marry us made the day extra special!

Bishop Arts Street Wedding from Shaun Menary Photography

Growing up in small-town Montana, block parties were a serious staple of my childhood.  Our little city would shut down Main Street, set up some food booths + a stage for a band and dance the night away underneath the stars and historic buildings.  It was awesome.  So hosting a wedding in that exact same setting like these two lovelies? Pretty much genius… and the perfect way to celebrate “I do” with all of your fun-loving friends and family.  It’s a block party to the extreme, and you can see every last awesome moment captured by Shaun Menary in the full gallery.

From Shaun MenaryMatt and Stacey Spillers originally wanted a rooftop wedding, but when the city denied the permit, the couple did what anybody would do… move it to the street! Matt owns the Spillers Group, a family business responsible for a few prominent restaurants in the Dallas area, one of which is Eno’s Pizza Tavern. On March 16, Matt and Stacy shut down the block in front of the restaurant (with the blessing of surrounding shop owners, of course) and said “I do” under a branch arbor erected smack dab in the middle of Bishop Avenue! The unsuspecting, yet pleasantly surprised Bishop Arts patrons who stumbled upon the nuptials lined the sidewalks to observe smilingly and snap a few cell phone photos. The local folk band Fox and the Bird serenaded the wedding guests from atop a flatbed trailer hitched to a vintage truck, and then the couple and their guests spent the rest of the evening dinin’, drinkin’ and dancin’ in the street.

Matt rocked a dapper Ted Baker suit, and Stacey was absolutely stunning in her ballroom gown, vintage jewelry, and tastefully pink lipstick and nail polish. And in lieu of a traditional wedding ring, she wears a vintage sapphire family heirloom. I mean, this couple has some seriously delightful style!

Stacey and Matt’s wedding completely embodied the spirit of the Bishop Arts district. Eno’s, which has become a staple of the neighborhood, prepared the food, and a local brewery, Four Corners, brought a unique beer brewed just for the occasion. Each table decoration was a unique assemblage of flowers, succulents, bottles and wood chips designed just a few doors down by Dirt. The festivities were flanked by the storefronts that give Bishop Avenue its character, all kind of like one big unique, artsy, homegrown, happy family!

This wedding was truly beautiful and unique, and it was such a pleasure to work with Matt and Stacey.

From the Bride… We didn’t really want to worry about the details; we just wanted to enjoy the process. So we carefully chose our vendors, got to know them really well, and then just handed all the creative authority over to them. Also, my husband was heavily involved throughout the whole process, and because of that, I felt like the wedding wasn’t just MINE, it was truly OURS.

Fredericksburg Barn Wedding from Rachel Whyte

Barn weddings are amazing, that pretty much goes without saying.  But when you take a fabulously styled barn wedding and add in two cuties who are sooo in love, it’s palpable, it’s better than anything you could possibly imagine.  Because this is a day that is not only chock-full of pretty details, but a whole lot of heartwarming moments, too.  See every last one captured by Rachel Whyte in the full gallery.  It’s a love-filled beauty.

From Rachel WhyteFrom the moment I met Rachel and Reed, I knew they were going to have a really unique wedding. Rachel is one of the kindest and most sincere brides I’ve ever had the honor of working with. Reed is a college football coach who really wanted to be involved in the wedding planning process. It was so refreshing! Their wedding took place in the historic town of Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country. They rented out the precious Myrtle Cottage for the weekend for their entire wedding party. Rachel threw an awesome surprise wedding “after party” for Reed, and she even got his favorite band to come play! It blew me away how focused they both were on serving each other, their friends and family even though it was their special day.

Rachel and Reed chose the “party barn” at Alegria (between Fredericksburg and Kerrville) for their venue. The barn was built by jewelry designer James Avery as a place to have parties and retreats and it is such a hidden gem! A sketch of the barn was featured on their custom invitation suite, which I LOVED. I also loved the combination of gray dresses and mint green accessories Rachel chose for her bridesmaids.

She used a local grocery store, HEB, as her florist (who knew you could even do that?). Her mom did a majority of the table centerpieces, which were a mixture of vintage and rustic. The couple gave their guests flower seeds for favors which was such a sweet touch. All of the little DIY details were perfect, but the thing that stood out the most to me about their wedding was the pure emotion. Rachel and Reed’s love for each other is rare- it’s passionate and strong without an ounce of selfishness. While I’m a newlywed myself, I’ve been married long enough to know that that’s the kind of love you need to make a marriage last. Take notes, y’all!

Houston Zoo Engagement Session from Day 7 Photography

I have a penchant for falling head over heels in love with any engagement session that includes a sweet, sweet fur baby and this gorgeous e-sesh captured brilliantly by Day 7 Photography is most certainly no exception.  Image after image of two seriously cute sweeties, some crazy cool backdrops (hello, Houston Zoo) and an adorable (+ loving) pup, it’s like the perfect kick-off to the sure-to-be amazing Fall weekend. Get your pretty on in the full gallery.

From Day 7 PhotographyBrian and Rachel are both teachers in Houston, Texas, and they both love the Houston Zoo. The zoo was a perfect spot to capture where they first fell in love, and we also went to a nearby park afterwards. The park we went to was called Love Park, and it’s the place where Brian proposed to Rachel. We also had their one-eyed dog join us for the fun! Their dog was so sweet and loving, and it was perfect for our shoot. To represent their jobs as teachers, they brought some of their favorite classroom books, and we set up a little spot for us to sit down and take some candid photos!

Bryan Wedding at Traditions Club from Everest Road Photography

People often ask me if I grow tired of weddings. I am quick to answer, never.  And all I have to do to make them see why weddings will always have my heart is show them a wedding like this one. A wedding focused on family and the belief in marriage. A wedding that is gorgeous, yes, but one that is layered with love. It’s enough to make anyone fall in love with weddings, and with images from Everest Road Photography you can do just that right here.

From Everest Road PhotographyOne of the things great things about this bride is that she doesn’t meet a stranger. Ali let’s brand new friends know her in a way that makes them feel like they are her people. It’s so unique…and because of that, their wedding had no shortage of guests!Every one of Ali and JR’s wedding guests knew that this couple was HAPPY to be married. I’ve not seen a bride walk down the aisle with such a wide open-mouth smile before Ali’s. They are CRAZY about each other. Surrounded by gorgeous floral design, a fabulous church steeple all on the greens of the Traditions Club, I could almost see actual light coming from her glowing smile that day.

From the Bride… When picturing my wedding, only a few things mattered to me, marrying JR, honoring God, and being with lots of friends and family. We picked the Traditions Club in Bryan because of the rental properties on site. All of our extended family and wedding party stayed on site all weekend. My mom then went above and beyond to make everything special. We wanted people to walk away from the ceremony and reflect the beauty, of our love, of the ceremony and of the decor. Keisha’s Kreations put together a beautiful wooden backdrop with floral accents and mason jars full of flowers on shepherd hooks. I was inspired by the simplicity of other weddings I’d seen on Pinterest and blogs. My mom made reserved signs on pieces of chalkboard slate with chalkboard paint. Instead of printed programs, we opted for framed printed signs that looked like chalk board detailing the members of the wedding ceremony. Many children have played an important role in our lives so we choose to have 7 members of our flower brigade. The girls carried metal tins with petals to drop and the boys carried burlap signs.

For the reception, we wanted people to walk away thinking about what a great time they had. Center pieces were simple, repurposed flowers from the ceremony and bouquets placed on beautiful wooden slabs cut and stained by my wonderful in-laws. Our wedding coordination and all of our printing was handled by Cheryl Bell of Little Root Creative. She made everything wonderful. The cake was incredibly delicious and made by Piece of Cake in Brenham. Our groom’s cake was made by the Traditions Club and was a hot molten cake with hot fudge and bluebell ice cream. This dessert was highly praised.

Austin, Texas Wedding from Forever Photography Studio

You know it’s going to be a good day when Forever Photography Studio is on the agenda. I love everything about their images… they’re so bright and gorgeous, happy and heartwarming, and the weddings they are brought on the capture. Oh my. Just look. Seriously, just look.

From the beautiful bride… We met at a bar in Chicago the night of my 24th birthday where I impressed David with my choice of liquor (whiskey ginger ale) and ability to take down 3 chorizo tacos as a late night snack. I was taken with Davids dance moves and his love of music. If only we would have known that four years later we would be getting married in a place where tacos, whiskey, and music were such a huge part of the city culture.

At the end of my birthday celebration, David gathered up the courage to ask me on a real date, and a few days later we found ourselves eating dumplings and getting to know each other. By the end of dinner, we were so consumed in conversation that we didn’t realize the restaurant had closed and the waiters were giving us dirty looks! He ended the night by handing me a handmade mixed CD with all his favorite songs. The rest is history.

After a few years of dating and exploring every new restaurant and concert venue in Chicago, we decided totake the plunge and move to New York City. Our weekends quickly filled with picnics and bike rides and finding all the hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and it was only a few months before New York City became our true love. It was only natural that David proposed during a bike ride along our favorite spot in Central Park, directly under the weeping willows. He even put champagne in our water bottles so that wecould have a refreshing celebratory drink!

Both of us love to travel, listen to music, and eat good food all qualities that Austin embodies. I wanted an intimate outdoor ceremony surrounded by our favorite people, followed by a huge dance party. And, just like I always dreamed of getting proposed to under a weeping willow, I knew I wanted to get married under a large, enchanting tree. The second I stepped foot on the Winfield Inns property, located right outside Austin, I knew this was the place. We were smitten from the moment we walked up to the classic Hill Country home, which was set back amongst fields of flowers and surrounded by sprawling trees whose branches practically kissed the grass. To top it off, the staff was a delight, and it just felt right. As we walked around the site, I could picture getting ready on the vintage home’s terrace, saying I do under a captivating old tree, and dancing the night away in a magical outdoor space.

We live in the West Village in New York and everyday I walked by the flower shop next door, completely captivated by the beautiful fuchsia orchids in the window display. That window display became the inspiration for our colors, flowers, and centerpieces, and shaped the overall style of our wedding. I loved the soft romantic colors of the orchids’ light pinks, purples, and whites and our florist had the idea to suspend them from tree branches creating a whimsical space underneath where we would recite our vows. The bridesmaids bright purple bouquets accented the suspended orchids perfectly against a background of soft gray chiffon dresses.

Romantic Spring Engagement at Mueller Park from Day 7 Photography

You know what I love about this engagement session?  Besides, well… everything?  That these two cuties just look like they belong together; that they are sooo obviously meant-to-be.  From their sweet smiles to their heartwarming glances to the way they casually, yet lovingly hold hands, it’s a beautiful sneak peek into a day literally overflowing with pre-wedding bliss and sunshine-filled beauty captured by Day 7 Photography.  See it all in the full gallery.

From Day 7 PhotographyApril and Alex’s engagement session was simple and beautiful. This session was all outdoors and I focused on them being romantic with each other in a natural, candid, and fresh way. The park we were at had a relaxed southern vibe that really matched their personalities, and there was also a small body of water that helped add another element to their session. I hope you enjoy this engagement session!

Wimberley, Texas Wedding from The Life You Love Photography

True story: I’ve never actually been to Texas. Total shame, I know. But I imagine that big, beautiful state to be a lot like this Wimberley wedding — a true slice of rustic charm. From the sprawling farm tables to the wide, open spaces of Montesino Ranch, it’s a place I’d be more than happy to sit and stay a while (or, forever!) So until I can get my “visit Texas plan” officially in place, you can find me in the gallery of The Life You Love Photography’s pretty captures right here.

Jennifer was studying in a bookstore during her junior year in highschool when a boy came up and asked for her phone number… the rest was history! Jennifer and Nowlin planned their “destination” wedding (planning from San Antonio) at the beyond beautiful ranch at Montesino Ranch. Montesino Ranch is privately owned and spans acres and acres of gorgeous land and scenes. It was important to the couple to have an intimate wedding showcased all local vendors when it came to food, wine, breweries, flowers. The couple opted out of having a bridal party which really set the tone for how intimate the ceremony was. With the Wimberely hills as the backdrop to their vows, there was not a dry eye in the house. The sun set over the reception set up, rows of long tables with mismatched plates with twinkling lights over head. It was a beautiful day.

Houston Wedding at The Grove from Day 7 Photography

Good food, good company and good music.  Three key ingredients for any seriously fun set of nuptials, and the “priority list” these two sweeties decided on when tackling their big day party.  A day that was not only drop-dead gorgeous, but chock-full of those kind of stunningly gorgeous details that just make your heart sing.  I’m talking contemporary meets pretty in every possible way.  Dive into every love-filled moment captured by Day 7 Photography right here in the full gallery.

From the Bride… I love good food, Alex loves good music. So, when we started planning the wedding, we picked only three priorities – good company, good food, and good music- and chose to not sweat the small stuff. So much of our joy comes from sharing in the happiness of our loved ones, and for Alex and I to share the things that make us happy in order to make others happy was all we could ask for! Because we had chosen to not worry about all the small details, the big day was relaxing, stress-free and so enjoyable. The ceremony was quirky, fun, and serious all at the same time… I especially loved Alex’s personal vows (they were in poem form!!) and how we chose to memorize our traditional vows so we could say them to each other as we placed wedding bands on each others’ fingers. The music throughout the ceremony was performed by a few of Alex’s good friends, making it even more meaningful and beautiful. Our reception was amazing as well: the food was out of this world (more than one guest told me it was the best wedding food they’d ever had!) and I had a ton of fun greeting our guests and listening to our close friends’ and family members’ heart-warming toasts.

Alex and I both really love being in nature and admiring God’s awesome creation. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved trees – climbing them, drawing them, daydreaming under them… and so when I was picking a wedding motif, trees immediately came to mind. Trees represent what we strive toward in our marriage: they start small, from just one seed, but grow with time and careful cultivation into solid structures capable of patiently weathering the different seasons of life with grace and beauty. I incorporated the natural look and colors of trees, branches, and floral touches into the wedding invitations and programs, the styling of the bouquets and centerpieces, the table number tags, the guestbook, and, of course, into the choice of reception venue (The Grove’s second floor is called “The Treehouse” after all!). When I walked into the reception for the first time with my husband and gazed out across the room, I was surrounded on all sides by natural light and beautiful treetops – it was absolutely perfect!

Another main inspiration behind our wedding was to have our guests “share our joy.” We didn’t want our wedding to only be a celebration centered around us. We wanted our guests to see that our joy had come from trusting in God and using His example of love for us to love one another. One detail of this was our wedding favors. Alex and his groomsmen put together small care packages as wedding favors for our guests to take and give to someone in need. Whenever they gave them out, we hoped that they could remember to “share our joy” by loving and encouraging someone who needed it.

Many details were, of course, found on Pinterest and wedding blogs. Two of my very talented bridesmaids helped DIY the cupcake stand from scratch and draw the table number tags, another friend of mine drew the guestbook tree, and of course, one of the groomsmen was in charge of assembling all the care package favors.

Country Elegance at Bootjack Ranch from Ruddock Photography

I may call New England home now, but there is still a big part of me that will always be proud I grew up in the south. Especially when I see a wedding like this one from Ruddock Photography. It reminds me of why southern weddings are so special – yes they are filled to the brim with details, but more importantly, they are focused on family and friends. And that just warms my heart right up. Because not only is this wedding lovely, it’s full of love, and that’s the best detail of all. See it all here.

From Ruddock PhotographyNot even waking up to one of the worst cold fronts in West-Texas could pull the warmth out of this amazing country wedding. Photographed by Ruddock Photography and set against the beautiful backdrop of BootJack Ranch in Goldthwaite, TX, this intimate country wedding had it all: hay rides, a ceremony under two giant Oaks, a horse and carriage, and a whole lot of love. The entire wedding had a pure, country feel to it, and Brookes’ handmade details and her mother’s homemade, individual apple pies gave southern style and warmth a whole new meaning.

Texas Wedding at Madera Estates from Mustard Seed Photography

Every time I see a Texas wedding like this one from Mustard Seed Photography at Madera Estates I realize I haven’t spent nearly enough time in the Lone Star state. Because this wedding is filled to the gills with details that make my world go round executed in a fashion that makes me realize that Texas Brides know how to plan a wedding. It’s that perfect combination of style and love, and it’s all waiting for you right here.

From Mustard Seed Photography… This is an amazing Texas wedding filled with gorgeous details and an equally beautiful couple! Highlights of this wedding include a villa-inspired venue, muted hues of lavender, blush and green with sparkly accents added here and there. All of the bride’s planning came together to create a truly stunning, yet down-to-earth event. Below are some details from the bride about how this romantic, villa themed wedding came together!

From the Bride… Brian and I almost never met. It was by pure luck that our lives crossed paths one random night in March of 2010. And although he gave me his number with strict instructions to call him, I never called. I couldn’t call because I lost his number! Even I couldn’t believe I did that. I found out later that we were both pretty distraught over the course of events; me, feeling bummed that I might have just let my soul mate slip away, and he, thinking I must’ve never been interested in him. Then miraculously, four days later, we both ended up eating at the same restaurant at the same time. That’s when we met the second time. This time, we left little up to chance; he saved my number into his phone and ended up texting me before I even left the parking lot.

Brian and I envisioned our wedding day to be a whimsical and light-hearted affair with close family and friends. We wanted our guests to feel at ease and comfortable with their surroundings, thus for us, that meant having plenty of outdoor space. We fell in love with Madera Estates’ villa-style design and the gorgeous wooded backdrop that accompanied it.

From the Bride…On April 20, 2013, Tanner and I got married at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Dallas, TX. The weekend was filled with events, including a Rehearsal Dinner at Sammy’s BBQ followed by a Welcome Party as the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Ceremony & Reception on Saturday and a Farewell Brunch on Sunday. We were surrounded by wonderful people who, like us, really wanted to have a good time!

My favorite is rose gold anything! Tanner proposed while we were skiing in Santa Fe, NM in February of 2012. My ring is rose gold and covered with pave diamonds with a pear-shaped diamond perched on top! His ring matches with platinum on the outside and rose gold on the inside! Modern Southern Charm Shoot from Your Very Own Fairy Godmother + DCM Photography

Southern romance meets modern design, and the result? Pure gorgeous. With stunning florals from Stems Floral Design, a to die for cake from Simon Lee Bakery and picture perfect planning by Your Very Own Fairy Godmother every image snapped up by DCM Photography is perfectly pin-worthy. So do yourself a favor this fine Tuesday morning and get lost in all the lovely right here.

From Your Very Own Fairy Godmother…For this shoot, we were inspired by the juxtaposition of black and white mod designs with florals inspired by southern romance. For the ceremony look, the black and white gazebo, the white flooring, the white carpet runner, the white lounge benches, and the varied sizes of lucite risers down the aisle with clear glass cylinders with spilling flowers, all combined to create a beautiful contrast to the soft landscape and hill country view around it. The tablescape’s lush floral runner in bright yellows, oranges, whites and greens really stands out from the multi-patterned, black and white linen underneath. The emerald green couch and the crystal chandelier bring a soft, romantic touch to the look against the more modern elements. For the sweetheart table, we played off the black and white dance floor with bright blue chairs for the bride and groom, and a floral peacock of white hydrangeas and white phalaenopsis orchids as the grand statement for that table. Gold vintage vases with bright-colored, summer flowers to finish it off. Again, the backdrop of the actual landscape with the gorgeous, tall oak tree really brings the southern charm to the overall look.

Texas Wedding at The Winfield Inn from Chelsey Schrader Photography

This lovely lady is a SMP Bride through and through. With her careful attention to detail and love of pink, pink and more pink – her wedding had us at hello. It only takes one look at her oh-so-pretty day by Chelsey Schrader Photography  to see why we feel in love with every single image sitting in this gallery – and you can do the same, right here.

From the Bride… While many people will tell you that “rain on your wedding day is good luck”, when I awoke on my big day to find grey and dreary skies threatening our outdoor ceremony, I was not thrilled. Yet as the day went on, the sun struggled to peak out from behind the clouds, and by the time I was about to walk down the aisle, I was greeted by a bright, cheery sky that seemed to be fueled by my own excitement.

As we had guests traveling from far and wide–many from California (where the groom and I went to college) and Kansas (where the groom is originally from)–we wanted to make their trip to our wedding completely effortless. Each decision we made for our big day was fueled by trying to give our guests the best possible experience. In that vein, we hired vintage trolley cars to transport our guests from Downtown Austin to Kyle, we had water and lemonade waiting for guests pre-ceremony, stocked the bathrooms with sunscreen and bug spray, and had specialty cocktails and wine awaiting the guests on their stroll to cocktail hour.

But beyond comfort, I also took on several DIY projects to give the day a personal touch. Each of our tables were named after a significant place or event in our relationship, and listed the story of the name on the table card; for example, some guests sat at a table named “Snuggie” (the first present my hubby ever gave me) or “Kebabalicious” (the food trailer we were eating at when we changed our Facebook status to “in a relationship”.) As we’re big fans of hosting game nights for our friends, we also incorporated that with custom cornhole boards and croquet during the cocktail hour. Guests also signed in on Jenga blocks instead of a traditional guestbook. Other small touches abounded, like personalized seed packet escort cards strung up on a lattice work clothes rack, individually made toss bags filled with lavender, and homemade chocolate chip cookies with milk in place of a groom’s cake.

All in all, it was a wonderful day, and one I will never forget, full of everyone we loved, countless smiles, and some (fairly awful) dance moves. When the limo pulled away at the end of the night, we got a text from our day of coordinator that it had JUST started raining at the venue, for the first time that day. I think, at the end, the rain just couldn’t stand up to all that love and happiness.

Houston Wedding from Something to Celebrate

This wedding is everything I dream about weddings wrapped up in one lovely post. It’s al fresco meets ballroom, DIY meets chic. Honestly, there isn’t one thing planned by Something to Celebrate sitting in this gallery by Heather Curiel Weddings that I don’t want to pin, favorite…or basically hang on my walls. It’s beyond from start to finish, and it’s all sitting pretty right here.

From Something to CelebrateJanet and Keith dreamed of having a wedding that reflected who they were as a couple. Many of their first dates were outdoors so selecting The Courtyard on St. James as the backdrop of their summer evening wedding was an easy choice. They envisioned a wedding that conveyed a timeless, intimate and laid-back atmosphere, with an abundance of unique textures and candles, and neutral hues serving as the color scheme.

The couple values their respective family heritages so it was important to honor their culture on their wedding day as well. Both Janet and Keiths parents immigrated to the United States as refugees during the Khmer Rouge. During their wedding, the two performed a Sand Ceremony where Keith brought back Cambodian soil and ashes, which came from burial grounds of those who died during the war. This heartfelt moment was symbolic to the couple as they gave tribute to their family history while looking forward to their future.

At one point in the couples relationship, they dated long distance overseas, which led to quite a bit of traveling back and forth. To continue to tie in different chapters of their story, they asked their photographer to incorporate elements of travel into their photo booth. There were vintage suitcases and paper airplanes strung up as a backdrop for picture taking guests.

Among Janets favorite memories of her wedding day was when she stood in the foyer as the ceremony began. Music was playing and the wedding procession started to make their way down the aisle. At that moment, Janet was overwhelmed with emotions and thrilled with excitement to marry her best friend.

When asked to share advice for future brides, Janet highly recommended a wedding planner to help make the planning process easier as it can be overwhelming when being bombarded by a variety of wedding ideas. Janet also stresses the importance of keeping your day personalized to you and your husband-to-be and the love you share for one another.

Houston Wedding from Day 7

I couldn’t possibly put my finger on what I love most about this gorgeous ballroom beauty captured by Day7. The first thing I fell in love with was this bride’s gorgeous BHLDN gown. It’s a stunner. Then I fell in love with the palette of soft pinks. It doesn’t get prettier. But then I saw the way this Groom looked at his lovely Bride, and all of the things I loved so much went out the window, because that look is priceless. See even more of this gorgeous ballroom wedding here.

From the Bride…The day was how I imagined, full of love and laughter, surrounded by family and friends, sharing that special day with all of them. I remember praying the morning of that it wouldn’t be a horribly hot and humid day that Houston was known for. The ceremony and reception was indoors, but our first look was outside next to the church and we both sweat a LOT! Thankfully, it was somewhat tolerable. I tried to remember as much of the day as I could, since everyone always says the day passes by in a blur! I made it a point to take a step back and take in each moment. It certainly helped that my father is so goofy. The guests and I will never forget when he found the traditional pace of the father and daughter dance too slow and he broke out his own dance moves.

Most of my inspiration came from Style Me Pretty which I browsed a LOT! My sister would even comment that I was addicted. This was how I decided to go with a neutral palette with gold accents and even choose PINK! (well, if we’re being technical, blush) for my bridesmaids. I never really liked pink, but it evoked the feeling of soft romance that I was going for in my wedding. As for tradition, I am somewhat of a reformed traditionalist and wasn’t set on having something new, old, borrowed, and blue. However, my bridesmaids sweetly surprised me with a hand-stitched “tear-chief” (handkerchief for my tears) with D + J and our wedding date in blue letters that was my something blue. One aspect I absolutely adored was incorporating our love of giraffes into the wedding. Instead of a pillow for the rings, I found a stuffed giraffe for the ring boys to carry down the altar.

I am so grateful for all the family and friends who helped with the wedding. All my bridesmaids and wedding coordinator, whose own experiences with their own wedding gave me insights and made the planning process easier. It also helped a lot that they are so crafty (see “tear-chief” above) because we were able to make all the floral centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres. This allowed us to add peonies (my favorite!), to the bouquet, since we found them for a steal from the local grocery store. Since I wanted to bring the outside in, my friend had the brilliant idea to cut pear branches from her yard to complete the look with the cloudberries for the altar arrangements. I am also blessed to have a graphic designer friend who did all the stationary and kept me sane throughout the printing process.  On the day of, my sister did my makeup, and my mom, who did my hair, magically transformed me. Take advantage of any special skills your family and friends have to offer. It definitely made my wedding more personal and memorable.

Wildflower Center Wedding from Joyful Details + Stella Alesi Photography

You know what’s amazing?  Two (stunning) architects saying “I do” against the beautiful backdrop that is the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center in a day planned to perfection by Joyful Details and boasting more than its fair share of pretty.  I’m talking a day that features gorgeous (+ modern) florals from Articulture, a crazy beautiful Alexia Gavela gown and a whole lot of yummy goodness from Tiny Pies and Austin Catering.  See it all captured by Stella Alesi right here in the full gallery.

Tracie and Justin were married at the incredibly beautiful Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center this past May. The Center is always beautiful but especially in the Springtime when all the wildflowers are blooming. The bride and groom are both architects so they were very detailed when it came to the design of their wedding. I loved all the natural centerpieces that Tracie helped design with Articulture. They were a perfect match for the natural outdoor setting of the venue. Following a gorgeous ceremony guests were treated to an amazing dinner from Austin Catering. Then Robert Ellis helped them get their dancing shoes on and they danced the night away under the stars. It really was a perfect evening!

DIY Texas Wedding from Abi Q Photography

I love this Bride. Of course, I love her Groom too – but this Bride is the kind of girl who just sparkles without even trying. A girl who whips up an absolutely lovely affair as if it’s second nature. She is adorable and gorgeous and talented – and her wedding captured by Abi Q Photography reflects just that. See the entire day here.

From the Bride… My husband and I were high school sweethearts. I had a crush on him since I was 13, we started dating when I was 15 and dated for 6 years before we got married. He was my first boyfriend and my first kiss too!

All of the wedding decorations are homemade — I used to work at Anthropologie, so I got some of my girlfriends together and we made the hanging banner over the aisle with my friend Jen who already had the papier-mâché flowers from a past Anthro display window. My sister and maid of honor made all of the bouquets with wholesale flowers. Also for the bridesmaid dresses, I just gave them a color and told them to pick a dress that fit their body and style… I loved that touch of each of their personalities!
