Spring Wedding at the Hacienda del Lago in Austin from Now Fly Away

If I had to pick a favorite element of this wedding, it would be a three way tie between the polka dot dress (hello!), the can’t even talk about how perfect they are blooms from Petals, ink., and the super sweet, absolutely beautiful couple. Okay, maybe the couple would win, but really, I’m kind of obsessed with that dress. And those flowers. Thank you, thank you, thank you Now Fly Away for sharing your images of this stunning day with us!

From Petals, ink. … Whimsical Spring wedding full of colorful details, vibrant flavors and DIY touches. Valerie was truly her own event designer, meshing natural elements like driftwood and potted succulents with modern, whimsical details like glitter dipped feathers and ribbon chandeliers. Their menu was a feast for the senses incorporating local flavors in a unique Austin-Mexican fusion, and the hand crafted cocktails were the perfect accompaniment to the lawn games Martin constructed for their event. Beneath the layers and layers of thoughtful design details, family and friends were at the heart of this wedding. The wedding was planned around the return of Valerie’s brother who was stationed overseas with the US Army.

From the Bride… I think I designed a hundred different styles of wedding (thanks, SMP) before the details started to feel like “us.” I tried to not over think everything, which was tough to do with two years to plan – my brother was stationed overseas in the US Army and it was important to us that he was in attendance.

The feel of the event was a top priority since 90% of our guests would be coming to Austin from out of town. After seeing literally every single venue in Austin and surrounding areas, we fell in love with Hacienda del Lago and the 1940’s farmhouse and sweeping lake views. It was the perfect blend of rustic and glamorous Austin – and there are peacocks!

I took bits and pieces of things I loved from blogs and magazines and designed the paper goods, table numbers, potted succulents, and ribbon chandeliers. I spent hours and hours painting and wrapping thread for our table numbers, cutting and tying ribbon for the chandeliers and chairs, and my favorite part, dipping white feathers in paint and glitter to add to the whimsy of the design. A friend of ours made gorgeous driftwood candleholders, and Martin even made a corn hole toss game we set up under the gorgeous live oaks on the lawn.

We delighted in creating our menu in order to highlight one of our favorite things – eating in Austin! Margaritas, cantaloupe aqua fresca, chips and salsa bar, chicken chile rellenos, brisket tacos, calabacitas, and to-go bacon breakfast tacos are still being raved about by our guests to this day. And the yummy little cupcakes and our gluten-free cutting cake were a huge hit!

The most important thing was what we achieved – a magical celebration with the people that we love, to start the next chapter of our life together. The incredibly talented and dedicated vendors, and now friends, that we were so fortunate to work with made our dream come true and for that we will always be grateful beyond words.

New Orleans Inspired Wedding in Houston from Mustard Seed Photography

New Orleans meets Texas in this stunning Hotel ZaZa fête, and let me tell you, it was a match made in heaven. With a classic black and white palette and details that would make anyone want to get up and dance, this stylish soiree from Mustard Seed Photography is one for the books. See why here.

From Mustard Seed PhotographyReagan and Nick were engaged in New Orleans and wanted to bring some of that French Quarter flair to their wedding. From the second line band, marching them all the way to their reception – to the perfectly styled New Orleans inspired decor, every detail about their wedding day brought the feel of the Big Easy here to Houston! You are sure to enjoy it as much as we did!

From the Bride… When we selected our venue, we most importantly wanted our guests to have a great time. We wanted a high energy party. Hotel Zaza is the perfect place to ensure everyone has a good time! The food was amazing. The service and attention to detail are tops. Our ceremony was at the First Presbyterian Church, which is probably one of the most beautiful churches in Houston.

We wanted everyone to feel like they were in New Orleans in the old days of Louis Armstrong. Sipping French 75’s and feasting on delicious Southern fare. We got engaged in New Orleans on the steps of the St. Louis Cathedral, so we knew we had to make everything about the Crescent City. The second line parade from the church to the hotel blew us all away.

Farmers Branch Historical Park Weddding from Tracy Enoch Photography

Three months doesn’t seem like nearly enough time to plan your wedding, but if you’re two incredibly crafty sweethearts, it most definitely can be done.  Case in point?  These two cuties, who tackled every last aspect of their Big Day with some serious talent and beautifying skills that are sort of jaw-dropping.  I’m talking everything from burlap flags to mason jar centerpieces.  Add in the ever-lovely Tracy Enoch to capture all of the pretty and, well.  Happy Thursday, lovelies! Click here for more.

From the Bride… August 10, 2013 could not have been more perfect. I married my high school sweet heart and my best friend. We started dating last year, July 18, 2012 and the next year we were married. I guess I just know a good thing when I see it!

The wedding planning process was chaotic to say the least. We had a three month engagement which meant we were constantly moving. Our budget was a tight one. Luckily we like crafting. Needless to say, the wedding DIY section on Pinterest served us well during the planning process! We handmade all the burlap flags, the fence divider, table numbers, designed and assembled the program fans, wrapped the silverware, decorated the mason jars, and painted and assembled the pickets.

We decided that we wanted to stray from the traditional a little and make time for a few intentional and meaningful events. We wanted to be able to take communion together for the first time as man and wife during the ceremony and our first look included exchanging handwritten vows, taking turns washing each other’s feet, and prayer. The inspiration behind our decision for these events is simply Christ. He plays a huge role in our lives and we wanted to dedicate our marriage to Him.

Foot washing, although it may not be totally relevant today, was used in the bible as a symbol of humble love and sacrifice, and there is nothing like handwritten vows. Although we both wrote ours the morning of, exchanging those words was one of my favorite little moments from our day. I couldn’t stop crying, it was so perfect. The reception was beautiful and everything that I wanted it to be. We danced our last dance while all of our guests lined up for our exit outside, and we had a beautiful sparkler sendoff. August 10, 2013 is a day I will always remember as the most beautiful and perfect day of my life!

From Cottonwood Road Photography… Abbey and Ian are simply the perfect couple. The way they adore each other shines through their photos! Sharing snow cones at Klyde Warren Park, gorgeous waterfalls, little black dress, this shoot has it all. This gorgeous engagement shoot is modern and glamourous. The couple is beautiful, the scenery urban and sleek. Fredricksberg Wedding from Everest Road Photography

Dog attendants at a wedding propel said weddings to the top of the heartwarming list. Dogs really just make everything happier, don’t they? So I was already in love with this wedding, thanks to the sweet pooch, when I read bride’s words and fell in love with their story. Sprout, the lady behind the lovely flowers, was the groom’s second grade teacher. Everest Road Photography was a camp counselor with the bride’s sister. The whole day was a memory in the making… one I’m sure the couple and all their guests will look back on forever fondly.

From the beautiful bride… I fell in love with Fredericksburg through my bridesmaid Cori Dickie by attending the 4th of July parade during college and it became an annual tradition. Her mom always buys us matching american flag shirts at Walmart. Cori and I became friends bonding over DQ Blizzards and had monthly “DQ Dates.” Once Riley and I started dating he came with me for the festivities. We never thought of getting married any where else. The Ruff Haus was the first venue I saw and I was in love. I never dreamed I would get married outside, but it was perfect for Fredericksburg and us. We wanted something casual and inviting – like a big party in our home. Along with it being a wedding we wanted it to be a celebration where everyone was there to have fun. The glow sticks were one of my favorite touches on the dance floor and for the exit. They came about because the venue pretty much didn’t allow throwing anything or any kind of fire – so we made our own light.

Riley and I graduated from the same high school, three years apart. Our parents live a few blocks from each other and did not know each other. It has been so fun to see our families come together and the fun our parents have together and the Christian marriages they have modeled for us. Riley’s mom, I would say the shyest of the group, came up with the idea of performing a surprise dance at the wedding. They took 8 weeks of dance lessons choreographed to “Shake Your Booty.” Unfortunately, the band did not have the right song so they were not very pleased with their performance. I told them don’t worry we will make you perform it at every major holiday from here on out.

Riley sells promotional items for companies so we came up with the idea of making a logo for the wedding and putting it on napkins, cups, koozies, welcome bags, and cookies. I created the look I wanted and the fonts and one of my mom’s sweet friends help me invert the letters and convert the format. We just about cleaned out all of the Targets in Dallas looking for mason jars. We wanted it later on account of the heat and so wanted as much lighting as possible. Riley’s mom is incredible with flowers and she did some of the arrangements on the tables.

When we decided on an outside wedding I knew we had to have our dog, Judge, in it. We got him the weekend that Riley proposed at William Faulkner’s home in Oxford, MS. My brother trains black labs and gave us Judge and his dog Tex is like part of the family. Having them in the wedding was one of the best and most stressful things. Judge spent the entire ceremony trying to get my bridesmaid Abbie to throw her bouquet for him to fetch. My brother even got in wedding planning mode and found and ordered the matching dog collars from a friend. One of our guest books was water color paintings and stories about oxford and the other was photography from Texas Hill Country.

Most of the details happened along the way. I never thought I would have orange as a color and could not have been more pleased. The flowers were done locally by Sprout, owned by Michelle Hodges – who we later put together when Riley’s parents met with her that she was his second grade teacher in Dallas. Also, I was so excited to find out my bonus-sister was a camp counselor with our photographer. The little connections like that made it very special.

For the flowers I had never really heard of Dahlia’s. This spring Southern Living did an article on them and I knew they would be the perfect fit for our wedding.

Programs – we knew it would be hot so thought fans would be a great idea. They were – except for the fact that assembling them is quite a bit harder than we had anticipated. We had a glueing party one night and used rubber cement which did not stick at all. It was a learning process.

My favorite DIY, if you can call it that, is the logs the cakes were on. Riley and I were walking Judge one night and someone had cut down a tree in their yard and the logs hadn’t been picked up yet. We went back home and got his truck and snatched them up. Little did we know they weighed a ton and got his back seat super dirty.

Lavender – my mom befriended the owner of Urban Herbal and we just had to have lavender scented things everywhere. My stepdad came up with the idea of iced down lavender scented towels. He may be more proud of that idea than getting his online certification to be a minister.

Stasney Cook Ranch Wedding from Mary Boyden

I think we can all agree: Texas weddings are the epitome of rustic chic.  They’re all at once laid-back, sophisticated and uber-elegant, with the perfect dash of glamour at every turn of the way.  This is one of those perfectly country, perfectly awesome weddings.  A day that mixes gorgeous details, fun-loving farm animals and breathtaking scenery with a bride and groom who really know a thing or two about throwing a wedding.  See it all captured by Mary Boyden right here in the full gallery.

From Mary BoydenIn true traditional southern style, Lauren & Colin got married at the Methodist church she grew up in in Albany, Texas. The pastor knew her as a little girl, and teared up through the whole ceremony. They celebrated with minimal decor supplied mostly by their venue, Stasney Cook Ranch: wild flowers, candles, and of course – taxidermy animals from the ranch. I loved spending the day with such sweet, laid back people, and navigating through pastures of cows to get to the venue!

Comfort, Texas Wedding at The Hill Country Cathedral from Stephanie Hunter

If for whatever reason my day isn’t going the way I like, I always turn to SMP Texas. I know one look at all the sweetness sitting in the archives and there will be an instant smile on my face. This beauty by Stephanie Hunter Photography? Well it’s going to be my go-to smile-inducer from now on. It’s overflowing with charm and love and prettiness, making this gallery one happy place to be today.

From StephanieThis sweet, down-home wedding was chalk full of family oriented details with a color scheme that would be appropriate for any season! Deidra and Jake are Aggies to the core, so it seems fitting that they settled on maroon as their main color choice. Soft ivory complemented the pops of maroon and lent a classic feel to the day.

The Hill Country Cathedral in Comfort, Texas was an amazing backdrop for Deidra and Jake’s wedding. The reception boasted many DIY details from a family tree that featured collected photos of family members to the organic, vintage inspired centerpieces that were made up of milk glass vases, grapevine wreaths, antlers & doilies that belonged to family members. To round off the family feel, Deidra and Jacob decided to display both their mothers’ and grandmothers’ wedding dresses during the reception. In lieu of a traditional guestbook, they used fabric quilt squares for guests to sign and offer advice on a happy marriage . The fabric squares were later sewn into their first heirloom as a married couple. What a lovely wedding to photograph!

Camp Lucy Wedding from Caroline Plus Ben

I’ve probably already told you just how much I adore Caroline + Ben Photography, but it’s definitely worth repeating, because I sooo do and they are just that amazing.  I mean, these two talented photogs manage to send us some of the sweetest weddings you will lay your eyes upon, weddings like this darling day held at the always wonderful Camp Lucy.  I’m talking beautiful blooms from Bouquets of Austin, the planning expertise of Pearl Events and one moment after another of pure, unadulterated pretty.  See it all in the full gallery.

From the Bride… Ty and I met through friends at a Mumford and Son’s concert at Stubbs. I think we both were aware our mutual friends had prepped one another for meeting each other, but once we actually met, the night just flowed so organically. We were separated from our friends due to the crowd during the show and didn’t leave each other’s side even into post show drinks. We sort of just kept the conversation going through texts, emails, phone calls and visits. It’s just never been easier with someone

We really wanted a night of romance, good food, and wonderful company because that’s what our relationship is pretty much based on. We love cooking together almost every night of the week and having people over to share it with. Ty has been a very romantic partner from the beginning so I wanted it to be a night where everyone would fall in love with each other again or for the first time!

Quality food is paramount to our lives due to Ty’s founding of Windy Hill farms, so we were very particular about sourcing from local farms and ranches for our feast. 2Dine4 was able to pull from our family business as well as friends’ businesses and local farms to make an absolutely wonderful multi course meal. We really tried to use local/friend connections where we could to make the celebration more personal. Bouquets of Austin and Pearl Events used romantic and ‘re-purposed’ decorations to create a soft and gorgeous setting for our vows and banquet tables. BOA knew I loved herbs and was using them as favors so they incorporated a lot of herbs in my bouquet and all around. They particularly used Rosemary which has historical uses in marriage ceremonies and whose scent is traditionally associated with love.

We had our good friend Jarod marry us because we felt he has such a special way with words and has always been supportive of us. We also wrote our own vows which we surprised each other with that day. It was important to us to feel like we expressed our love to each other in our own words. Our friend Sara ready from The Prophet ‘On Marriage’ because we both felt early on it was a great description of a good relationship. Also, we picked our own musical selections played by a Musical Discovery of Austin. I walked down the aisle to Frankie Vallie’s ‘Can’t take my eyes off of you’ and we walked out to The Monkees ‘I’m a believer’ because the lyrics were dead on. The wedding party walked in to Neil Young’s ‘Harvest Moon’ because we’re both in love with Neil Young.

I think my favorite ‘moment’ was standing there with Ty in front of our friends and family knowing that I just loved him so much and that this was our official beginning together. It was just sheer bliss and happiness. Also, the fact that I had no idea that my brother wrote a song for my dance with my dad! That was a pretty incredible moment and extremely touching all around. Ty’s favorite was my dad’s speech and the fact that he made every single person cry in the building! People keep telling us how they started tearing up during this speech.

I have two favorite photos from the wedding – I love the one of us ringing the bell because Ty was swept up by the weight of the swinging bell! I think it really captures our excitement. The other is the photo of my dad after he saw me for the first time and he’s hugging me. It’s a pretty tender moment between a daughter and her dad! Ty’s favorite is our epic dip at the end of the night! He was impressed with Ben’s shot and our dipping abilities!

My biggest piece of advice to brides is not to get wrapped up in ALL of the details. Focus on maybe three big things that really mean a lot to you both and feel express you as a couple. We chose food, music, and drinks because they’re a huge part of our lives with how we met, our family business, and Ty’s a brewer. You can fill in some of the small details in custom keepsakes like your cake topper or ring box and create inexpensive favors that represent you. In the end it’s a party to celebrate your love and thank everyone there for being a part of your lives together thus far, so just enjoy it!

Romantic Houston Wedding – Slow Motion Highlight Film from Sica Films

Days have a way of getting away from me. I often look at the clock and realize hours have passed (I’m sure the same thing happens to you). But films like this one from Sica Films make me stop. It’s as though they make time stand still for just a moment just so I can get lost in all the lovely of this wonderful couples’ wedding – and for that, I couldn’t thank them more. So do yourself a favor this morning, and allow yourself to stop for just a moment too…

Houston Wedding at Tiny Boxwoods from Matthew Moore Photography

Texas weddings have a charm about them that simply can’t be duplicated. It’s just something that seems to come to effortlessly for those that call that pretty state home, and we get to reap the rewards through weddings like this one by Matthew Moore. Perfectly lovely and focused on family, it doesn’t get much more charming than the images sitting right here.

From Matthew MooreBryan and Danielle hoped to keep things as simple as possible for their garden wedding at Tiny Boxwoods in Houston,Texas. They wanted two things: a meaningful ceremony and delicious food. So, when a thunderstorm rolled in hours before the outdoor wedding, the couple was surprisingly calm. An hour before the start time, the clouds broke from the morning rain and the sun emerged just in time for their “first look” in the garden….beautifully captured in these photos. Bryan and Danielle vividly remember the worshipful ceremony which was framed by fresh herbs and flowering kale in all the bouquets. The evening ended with the couple’s favorite foods from the personalized menu and some creative alternatives to wedding cake: tiny pies in small mason jars and cookies with milk. They danced under the gazebo to their favorite song (Heavenly Day by Patti Griffin) and provided each guest with a parting gift of home-dried basil from their garden.

From the photographer… Bayly and Gary met during the fall of 2008 while both were attending Texas Tech University. The two connected through mutual friends and decided to take a trip together to attend the Austin City Limits Music Festival. They have been inseparable ever since.

In August of 2011, Bayly and Gary set out for a trip of a lifetime. They would spend the next three months backpacking across Europe. The trip would take them from San Sebastian in Spain to Prague in the east of Europe to Amsterdam and across to Sligo in the northwest of Ireland. It was exhilarating and exhausting. During the trip, on October 9th, Bayly’s birthday, the two went out to dinner in Venice to celebrate. After a long and romantic dinner the two strolled through St. Mark’s Square, listened to various string quartets and admired the beautiful city at night. After finding a small courtyard tucked away from the usually crowded streets, Gary bent down on one knee and asked Bayly to spend the rest of their lives together. The rest is history.

When Bayly and Gary returned to the states they moved to Austin, Texas. While wedding planning they fell in love with the Tuscan setting of Villa Antonia. Their inspiration for the wedding was a vintage feel that was elegant yet comforting. Bayly fell in love with a vintage Monique Lhuillier wedding dress with delicate lace and a touch of gold intertwined throughout. For her bridesmaids, Bayly chose a pale pink, long, strapless, tulle gown with a trumpet skirt also by Monique Lhuillier. The earrings she wore were a family heirloom passed on from the early 20th century. They are an intricate design of fine pearls with a stunning stone in the middle. The earrings completed the wedding dress. Gary wore a modern-fit black tuxedo from J. Crew. The entire evening was filled with love and excitement. One of the sweetest moments of the evening was Gary’s first glimpse of Bayly. Overcome with happiness, he could not help but wave to his beautiful bride-to-be as she and her father walked down the aisle. True to their style, a delicious meal and a raucous party filled with music and dancing followed the ceremony. Jona and Jerry of Forever Photography beautifully captured the night. Bayly and Gary were sent off with a dazzling array of sparklers. Before the guests made their way home they were treated with breakfast tacos and an assortment of salsas.

Fredericksburg Wedding from Caroline Plus Ben Photography

You Texas lovelies really know how to throw a wedding.  Like those drop-dead gorgeous, heartwarming kind of affairs that are chock-full of beautiful details and magical moments every which way you turn. Basically, you Texans rock… and when you throw a group of uber-talented vendors in to the mix (hello Viridian Design Studio, CarteWheels Caterers,  Marquee Event Group and Caroline + Ben Photography), it’s like a literal lesson in just how awesome weddings can be.  See it all in the full gallery.

Q. Most inspirational tool for deciding your wedding details?

Bride: I probably bought $400 worth of wedding magazines and just ripped out the pictures I liked and I didn’t like. I literally made a book for Tricia of my likes and dislikes and she took it from there. Obviously, anything Martha Stewart. Also, look at interior design magazines for floral and décor inspirations – Elle Décor, Veranda, Architectural Digest.

Q. Favorite Photo?

Bride: I honestly have about a million.

Groom: Us with the storm clouds in the background. It was fun, especially knowing that the storm never hit.

Q. Any DIY projects or Etsy goodies?

Bride: When you have a wedding coordinator like Tricia Hamil, she does it all.

Q. Were there any special additions to your ceremony that made it unique?

Bride: My Uncle Harris read from the same bible that was used when my grandparents got married. This was a total surprise, but obviously a wonderful and very touching surprise.

Q. What was the best moment of your wedding day?

Groom: Right after the Ceremony with our wedding party.

Bride: For me, seeing Philip for the first time. Tie for second – first dance with my father. Tie for second- Pre-wedding festivities – getting ready at my mom’s house with all my wonderful friends and family. We all had so much fun that day, I’m pretty sure I’ve never laughed so hard. It was truly so relaxing and fun. That is my advice to any bride – surround yourself with your best friends and family before the wedding and just have fun. I love all the pictures from mom’s house – opening up Stella Artois in the kitchen – such a classic.

From the Bride… We were so excited to celebrate with all of Neils’ family and friends. Since we were already married, it was a bit more chill getting ready. It was no stress, just exciting. We had checked out the venue before but it was even more beautiful than I remembered when we showed up that day. The inspiration behind the day was that we love Texas and barbeque as well as the cool vintage, natural style that the Salt Lick has. As far as special touches go, I don’t even know where to begin. Neils’ mom made us an awesome quilt that everyone signed instead of us having a guest book. Shakey Graves showed up! That was pretty awesome. Neils’ mom also made homemade peach butter to send home with everyone. The cakes were made by Neils’ aunt, who has a bakery in San Antonio. (She did a pretty amazing job right?) it was special to us that Day 7 Photography did the photos for both our engagements and our reception and have had so much fun gawking over the beautiful pictures. Also, I didn’t wear the cowboy boots for the actual wedding but wanted to wear them for this reception since it’s Texas and all! Neils’ mom did most of the decor/coordinating things so she knows better than I do about how all of the awesome ideas came about. The flag banner that said “Kelly and Neils forever and ever” was made by my mom and grandma. All the food was from the Salt Lick.

Intimate Foodie Wedding in Austin from The Studio B Photography

When I was planning my wedding, there was a big part of me that wanted a wedding just like this one captured by The Studio B Photography. A beautifully intimate affair followed by a delicious meal where conversation (and champagne) flowed. Which is precisely how this lovely day unfolded, and you can see every moment right here in the full gallery of images.

From Rebecca of The Studio BLiz knew that she wanted to marry Doug, but she wasn’t entirely sure that she wanted to have a wedding. At first she thought it would be nice if they went to the courthouse to get married and then go out to dinner at their favorite restaurant afterwards. However, as plans often do, things changed and Liz found herself planning a wedding.

She and Doug chose to have an intimate ceremony in Mayfield Park, which is home to several beautiful (and vocal!) peacocks. Following the exchanging of vows, everyone went over to Barley Swine, one of Austin’s most popular restaurants. The couple had rented out the entire restaurant and a spectacular eleven course meal was served! Guests mingled as the different courses were served and a wonderful time was had by all.

Houston Wedding at the Petroleum Club from Joshua Tyi + Soireebliss! Events

You know what I can never get enough of?  Color.  Vibrant bursts of crazy gorgeous hues dotting every inch of wedding space.  I’m talking purples, reds, pinks, golds… you name it, I love it.  And in the case of this stunning Houston soiree, it’s a blue meets teal paradise set against an elegant Petroleum Club backdrop with lush florals from SCF Events, gorgeous images from Joshua Tyi and a whole lot of mesmerizing moments planned by Soiréebliss! Events.  See them all right here.

From Joshua Tyi Lindie and Roman’s wedding was such a beautifully sophisticated affair. These two chose a venue and decor that truly matched their dynamic personalities – classy enough for a quiet girl from the south yet bold enough to satisfy a boisterous Russian family. You’ll love the high ceilings and broad ballroom filled with pleasantly beautiful teal, white, and black tones avec beau coups peacock feathers to boot!

The ceremony blended Jewish traditions, including the signing of the Ketubah, smashing of the glass with both Methodist and Jewish rites of marriage. The reception also did not disappoint with the traditional lifting of the bride and groom above the dance floor, a plethora of polka dancing and chutzpah.

The bold colors were peacock inspired and the elegantly selected flowers chosen for their simplicity to balance the boldness of peacock teal. The cityscape view added to the majesty and grandeur of this celebration. Forty-one stories above the pavement of Houston provided the wedding guests with no shortage of sights… that is, until the surprise belly dancers arrived, as a gift from the bride’s family to liven up the party. And if there’s one thing we know about belly dancers – they can get a party started! In a highly sophisticated way, of course. Did I mention there was an ice bar? With peacock feathers inside of it?

All in all, it was one of my favorite weddings to date. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Lindie, Roman and Samantha!

Texas Ranch Wedding from Sarah Kate, Photographer + Elle Films

Late last night, when I first opened this gorgeous wedding from Sarah Kate Photography, I was reminded why I will always, always love weddings. Weddings like this one that truly make me stop and click through every gorgeous image in their gallery because I feel like I am missing out if I don’t. Missing out on the perfectly ranch chic fête planned by Jordan Payne Events, the perfect florals from Jordan Payne Events or the delicious (in every sense of the word) cake from Sugar Bee Sweets. But it’s the little moments in between all that pretty that really tug at my heart strings, and you can see them all right here.

And you definitely don’t want to miss this sweet film from Elle Films

From the Bride… Katie and Chris met in July of 2005 on the open sea. While cruising with their families, they happened to book the same snorkeling excursion. They immediately hit it off and hung out the rest of the cruise, playing dodge ball, basketball, card games, rock-climbing and exploring. Despite Katie attending school in Fort Worth, and Chris in Lynchburg, Virginia, the friends stayed in touch for years. Not long after they had both graduated, they decided to take their relationship to the next level. Chris had moved to Seattle and Katie back to Dallas. Their long-distance relationship continued a little over a year before Katie decided to move to Seattle, and the rest is history.

In February 2012, Katie, Chris and some family escaped the cold north and said Aloha! Little did Katie know, months before, Chris had traveled to Dallas to ask Katie’s parents permission to marry their daughter. Of course, they said yes, and Chris designed the most beautiful ring, made by a local jeweler. Once in Hawaii, the couple woke up early one morning for a run, but Chris had something else planned. He suggested they go to the beach to watch the sun rise and take some pictures. While having fun with the self-timed camera, Katie went to go find a fun prop; Chris already had his. When Katie returned, Chris was on one knee with the beautiful ring and asked her to marry him. She was so excited she screamed and accidentally threw her “prop” stick at Chris. He survived the attack just in time to hear Katie say “YES”.

The overall theme and design for the evening was ranch chic, incorporating Katie’s love for color, the outdoors, the succulents and sunflowers. As Katie and Chris both love nature, and it is a big part of their lives in Seattle, natural elements were incorporated into the decorations, while still providing an overall romantic and feminine touch. The wedding was held at Katie’s family ranch about an hour outside of Dallas.

The groom, a self-proclaimed baby face asked his groomsmen to grow beards as soon as he and Katie got engaged. For 9 months these men diligently fostered quite a showing of facial hair just for the wedding. They shaved during the reception and then presented a “gift” of their shavings to the groom!

Burleson, Texas Wedding from Heather Hawkins Photography

After getting to know this bride a bit through her writeup, I’m completely convinced we could be the best of friends. She’s got wit, style and knows how to keep her cool in even the stickest of circumstances (read: dress rip on wedding day!) And while I wish I could steal every aspect of her fairytale nuptials — not to mention that bouquet by Megan Wilkes — I think I’ll stick to living vicariously with a visit to the gallery. Join me for a swoon-sesh of Heather Hawkins’ captures right here.

From the Bride… To write about our wedding day has proven to be a challenge because I want to stray from using the cliche phrases that are so sugary sweet that people go into a coma reading them. Sugary sweetness, however, is exactly what comes out of my mouth every time I begin to describe the day that I married my best friend. It is the most nervous, the most delirious, and the most invigorated I have ever been, and since I am married to Ben, I can legally say that he whole heartedly agrees with me. That’s a thing, right?

Our wedding was perfect because every vendor we chose worked tirelessly and flawlessly, the weather cooperated, people actually showed up, which disproved my recurring wedding nightmare, and we danced the night away. (Not to mention Ben pulling off the biggest surprise ever in the form of a helicopter get-away vehicle). I really do believe that even if no one showed up, and all of our vendors emailed us the day before saying all the things were broken, I would have had an equally awesome time because no matter what, I was going to walk down that aisle to my blue-eyed hunk and forever be Mrs. Howard. And I think I have merit in saying that, because my dress for real ripped and I did not wig completely out and send everyone home.

Basically, I relive June 8th, 2013 in my head regularly and go full-on girl and tear up about it. After a year of engagement, many prayers, a little tiny speck of stress, and lots of encouragement, we got married in front of our God and our dearest friends and family. How could that not be perfect?

From Amber at Heavenly Day EventsWhen I first made a visit to Giardino Bertucci, I was blown away by even just the drive. Nestled in beautiful farmland on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, Tina and Tony Bertuccis have a slice of Heaven. I immediately wanted to schedule a styled shoot that we could use to dress up their website and truly showcase the venue’s beauty. I envisioned soft, romantic, and effortlessly southern. I was thrilled when Stella, from Sixpence Floral, and Rhoda, from Loot Vintage, offered to assist. We perused the Loot inventory and chose pieces that complimented the natural elements of the country and connected an antique theme to the 100+ year old farm house on site. Stella used her talents to bring soft color and detail to the decor which were mainly blushes and hints of gold. Polka Dots caught our vision flawlessly and provided mini donuts and cake pops dusted in gold glitter and sprinkles. Not only adorable, but incredibly sophisticated. To top off the details, I knew I needed styled stationery and who better to call than Colette Creative. With an on trend set of eyes, she put our romantic vision to paper with little effort. When seeking a photographer, I thought of Sean at Day 7 Photography. He is a delight to work with and he captures lighting so well. I knew this venue would present harsh light at the wrong time of day so we planned accordingly and I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome! I’m so glad the Don, from ILC Films, was there to document the day! A huge thank you to our entertaining models, Emily and Joe! What fun we had.

Rustic Wimberley Wedding from Shaun Menary Photography

From Shaun Menary Photography Liz and Brian were married on September 29 against a breathtaking Texas Hill Country backdrop. The entire wedding day, from prep to party, unfolded on the grounds of a working organic farm in Wimberley, Texas. Once you meet this couple, you realize just how perfect this venue was for them! They are true environmentalists and love all things local, organic and sustainable. They forewent traditional wedding fare for vegan cuisine catered by East Side Kings food truck, and the bar was stocked with Austin-brewed beer and hard cider. And the invitations! Those were designed not only with the couple’s love of the outdoors in mind, but also their budget; the envelopes were off-the-shelf craft paper bags sealed with a personalized sticker and posted with vintage stamps from Ebay! The most charming element, however, was the Wall-E and Eve duo perched atop the wedding cake.

The bride also values family relationships and has a particular affinity for family heirlooms. Her veil was originally her mother’s, and Liz had it shortened for her own wedding day. The delicate leaf necklace had been melted down and molded from her grandparents’ wedding rings, and her pearl earrings were a friend’s family heirloom and also Liz’s something borrowed.

The centerpieces were created with flowers from the Austin farmer’s market. Liz purchased bucketfuls of wildflowers, and her mother and friends arranged them into stunning bouquets and displayed them in glass mason jars. The DIY wedding favors were more mason jars stuffed with wildflower seeds, peanut packets and Mentos.

Liz and Brian were so laid-back and extremely fun to photograph, and their DIY wedding was nothing short of incredible. It was beautiful reflection of their personal values and their love for each other, and that was a wonderful celebration to be a part of!
