From The Bride…Our location, Shepherd Creek is my family’s ranch – I love the character of the old German Rock house (built in during the Civil War) – and, of course the place has significant meaning. My favorite part of the wedding day was our first look – it was such a special moment to get to spend with Brice and share our excitement for the day!

For our ceremony setting vintage church pews were a must, we brought in 16 beautiful pews to create an intimate feel, but also to honor my upbringing. I loved the part of our ceremony when our father’s stepped forward to pray over us; and my favorite part of the reception was the Tea Toast! We did a ‘Tea Toast” instead of a traditional toast. This was done in honor of my mother and grandmother. The favor bags consisted of several flavors of tea and also served as the escort cards for the guests.

The cake was inspired by the lace on my dress. My dress was a beautiful tulle and lace ballgown by Enzoani in an autumn gold color. I knew I wanted something romantic and I love the vintage feel and lace… but most of all, I wanted a dress that was different than the strapless gowns that I see over and over again. When I put this dress on – I knew it was the one!

Shabby Chic Texas Wedding at The Prairie

These two (gorgeous) New Yorkers escaped the big city for their I dos to tie the knot in a more Texas way, and thanks to the super talented Anne Marie Photography we get to revel in every shabby chic moment. With stunning florals from Rachel Ashwell and perfectly placed details tucked in every corner, this gallery is a winner.

From Anne Marie PhotographySam and Alyssa are New Yorkers and move in fast sophisticated circles, and I was curious how many of their 120 guests would take the trek to Austin Texas and then an hour down the road., but to my surprise, everyone showed up for the weekend long event for the last week in October 2013.as each guest arrived, I observed the ahhs all around, and fairly quickly the fast paced lives were for a while at least, replaced with the slower pulse of Texas.

Partly because Karen is my best friend, partly because I have known Sam his whole life, partly because the Prairie deserves a magical layer, I spared no emotional and creative expense to making this wedding a story book wedding….. I used a combination of fake flowers and the real thing, roses, wisteria, peonies, larkspur, delphinium, I made some quiet accents in mason jars and then some big center stage displays of abundance in oversized wood barrels. I layered vintage china with mainstream wedding rental china, flanked by faded floral napkins held together with a vintage broach.

The Prairie in itself is a perfect stage to create a magical day of make believe, that in actuality is reality, for all who attended. I needed to know every detail was considered, my imperfection had to be perfect. And the overall wedding was truly perfect.

A Bohemian Elopement Inspirational Shoot

As much as I gush over wedding details on the daily, an intimate wedding where love is center stage always wins in my book. So elopements have always been my cup of tea, and this elopement inspiration from Anna Smith Photography and Everly Alaine Florals is the perfect example of why. The focus is on the the biggest and best detail of all, the couple saying I do. See even more gorgeous inspiration here.

From Anna Smith PhotographyThe reason I became a photographer is simply this: to show people just how beautiful their lives really are. Living in the heart of the city in Texas we do not often venture out to see natural beauty and the great outdoors. When I decided to pick up a film camera I knew exactly where to take it for the first time. I was lucky enough to find a place that inspired me photographically for this shoot. The water is… so amazingly blue, and just not something that we see in Texas. The greenery mixed with those bright colors is really something to remember. There is a hidden pathway to get down to the bottom of the rock formation to get your feet wet, so we took advantage of that as well. I just knew that the very smooth, warm light at sunset would give us stunning photos to remember for a lifetime. I wanted to show that it does not take thousands of dollars to express the love, the beauty and the hope we see from people in love or those that choose to elopements to marry.

I worked with Leslie who is a very talented florist at Everly Alaine Florals, to make the bouquet and headpiece for this shoot. Leslie made my dreams a reality when she arrived with these gorgeous wild flowers. The bouquet has an earthy feel and is made of uncommon elements such as olive and blackberries and has lots of texture. The light pink mixed with deep maroon flowers for both the bouquet and headpiece were perfect for this setting. Leslie and Daniel had a relaxed dress look: shorts and suspenders and a beautiful yet simple white dress and came barefoot.

What draws me to these photos is that there is something breathtaking in simple, natural and beautiful. Take two people in love, a photographically gorgeous setting with bright blue water, stunning floral design – and you have this! This shoot is anything but ordinary. When I look at these photos I see that exact love we all want to experience, the wilderness of being young, and the calm that marrying your best friend brings. The feelings that Leslie and Daniel share are shared by us through these photos.

From The Bride..Jeff and I defined the phrase “Do It Yourself” for our wedding. From the cupcake stand to my bouquet, we wanted to put our touch on as much as possible. As the Bride, I am into all things shabby chic and was on a mission to find all of the perfect pieces to make our day special. I went all out and completely planned the whole day from beginning to end.

When we were on the hunt for a venue I happened across Thistle Springs Ranch. At the time they were still building the barn, but I knew that this would be the place where we would exchange vows. After seeing the barn finished, all of the other elements fell into place.

Jeff and I both graduated from Texas Tech University, so we wanted to incorporate the Red Raiders into our wedding day. The grooms cake had a Double T on top of it and everyone sang the Texas Tech fight song at the end of the reception.

We put a lot of work into making our wedding day perfect. Everything was a DIY project including all of the signage, dessert stands, banners, bouquet, painted mason jars, place cards, and even the moss letters were our labor of love.

Rustic Flying V Ranch Wedding

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, choosing a venue is oh-so-important when it comes to the overall style of your Big Day. It was the first order of business for my fiancé and I, and it truly helped set the tone for the look and feel we’re going for. So, when I laid eyes on this Flying V Ranch fete, I instantly knew that the venue played a big part in the rustic, slightly vintage and purely romantic vibe. With floral-topped barrels, lace and succulents folded in, this gallery from Ashley Bosnick doesn’t disappoint.

From Ashley Bosnick PhotographyKyle + Sadye’s Texas Countryside wedding was stunning, with some rustic and classic details that really made it their own. The venue was the perfect fit and had some gorgeous land and an amazing space for their ceremony, which was under a gorgeous old tree. The old white church pews at the ceremony, along with the amazing floral on the arbor really added a romantic feel that Sadye was hoping for!

Flying V Ranch was such a great pick for their wedding day – the reception space was stunning with lots of gorgeous natural light, and the venue provided much of the chic decor for to help complete the whole look!

Vibrant Rock Quarry Styled Shoot in Texas

Flowers have a direct path to my heart. There is just something about an arrangement of beautiful blooms that sets me off into a tizzy of happiness. So let me just tell you, the florals designed by The Southern Table in this vibrant shoot captured by Ben Q. Photography have me seriously beside myself. The entire shoot does to be honest. It’s pure happiness in feature form, and there is even more here.

From The Southern TableThis shoot was inspired by a modern spin on Native American elements. We captured an earthy feel with the foundations of rock, slate, leather, copper, wood and terra cotta. To balance these primitive elements, we chose a light airy seating and tablecloth.

The Rock Quarry location was absolutely breathtaking with the rich white limestone that made the water a perfect shade of turquoise. The floral colors we loved included dark chocolate hues of ranunculus mixed with vibrant pink and peach hues of dahlias and Juliette roses and soft textures.

Casually Elegant Texas Wedding

Filled to the brim with sweet moments, this Lone Star affair is Southern chic done right. Infused with the perfect amount of style and substance it’s a Gage Hotel wedding that’s chic yet casual…and you didn’t hear it from me, but you just might spot a famous bridesmaid or two! More photos from The Nichols right here.

From The Nichols… Jesse and Desha’s friends and family traveled many miles out to the tiny, charming, desert town of Marathon, TX to celebrate with the happy couple under the big Texas skies. Jesse’s parents own a vacation home out in Marathon, TX and they love to spend time there with her family. They thought that Marathon’s impeccably-styled Gage Hotel would be the perfect setting for their wedding day.

The ceremony was held on the beautiful lawn of the Gage Hotel’s Captain Shepherd House. After the happy couple exchanged their “I do’s,” their guests headed down the way to the courtyard where they enjoyed blue grass music and appetizers prepared by the 12 Gage Restaurant. Jesse and Desha chose a muted color palette of whites, greens, and soft pinks to compliment the natural beauty of the West Texas desert landscape. Everyone had a wonderful time dancing the night away under the twinkling lights and the starry night sky!

From Nbarrett PhotographyGorgeous, May wedding with beautiful vibrant colors. This wedding was an eclectic mix of Spring blooms arranged in Spanish terra cotta on gold sparkled table tops. And to top it off a stunning floral curtain installation for the ceremony. From the Bride… For our wedding day the first thing we knew we wanted was a fabulous photographer. Natalie was the perfect fit! From the first time I met Natalie all the way to the engagement shoot (her adorable bulldog Magnolia kept us laughing the whole time) we fed off of her energy which made our wedding day perfect. We also knew we wanted a May wedding since the flowers and light are the best reminders of the starting of our engagement. After spotting Hickory Street Annex while driving through Dallas, we instantly knew that the architecture and freedom of the venue is exactly what we were looking for! The vintage yet industrial feel and renovated bridal suite is what made me fall in love. We were at the liberty of having both the ceremony and reception in one location but the venue still had a natural flow… especially since the guests could use the repurposed bridal suite as a cocktail area. Of course, planning a wedding is stressful. I eventually realized that collecting every little detail of our wedding is not my cup of tea so we asked Amanda from Hickory Street Annex to help. She was amazing! She knew that we wanted to keep the wedding small and intimate by only having 75 guests. Knowing that a wedding isn’t complete without magnificent flowers…we met with Alicia from Bows & Arrows who knew exactly what we were looking for. We wanted something completely different and to be super vibrant! The deep purple, bright pinks, and oranges from the flowers is what fueled the inspiration for our wedding. She and her wonderful team created the most astonishing hand strung flowers for the ceremony back drop and they used unbelievable terra cotta pots for the centerpieces. They even set aside the perfect colored blooms to be placed on our delicious cakes and dessert bar (my favorite part of the wedding)! Most importantly, the best part of our wedding day was sharing it with our little boy, family, and guests! Their love and support was the only thing we wanted on our wedding day.

Rustic Springtime Texas Wedding

I had to double check that this was actually a real wedding, the photos are just that perfectly lovely. But then toss in that Texas attitude, a David Peck beauty, cowboy boots plus the cutest pup ever and I’m practically begging to be one of this bride and groom’s buddies.  Select Studios and Luxe Films joined in the festivities and captured the whole two-steppin’ good time for us all to enjoy.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/103031067 600 338]

From The Bride… My husband and I had dated for 5.5 years and we finally tied the knot on May 10, 2014. Our wedding and reception took place at a beautiful place called ‘Top O’ The Hill’ in Montgomery, TX. (We were the fifth and final wedding held here, so they no longer have a website). The venue was a family’s weekend home that for a short time held weddings. Our wedding was all about the beauty of the outdoors. The ceremony took place on the top of the hill which overlooked the gorgeous trees and land. The reception dinner took place next to the barn beneath a group lighted trees. The barn served as the perfect dance hall for the reception.

There were a lot of DIY projects that my family and I made. My dad made the rustic planter boxes out of old fence posts. They served as our table centerpieces. I painted the canvases that were the backdrop for our self serve photo booth. I made the streamers that were on the back of the ceremony chairs. (which can be seen blowing in the wind in the video) and my Aunt made my gorgeous cake. I wanted simple and for the flowers to be the only embellishment.

Some of my favorite touches from our wedding include having a family friend sing and play acoustic guitar during our ceremony. The bridal party processional was  ‘All Those Pretty Lights’ by Andrew Belle and the bridal processional was ‘Ends of the Earth’ by Lord Huron. We had a featured beer, Hoss Lager by Great Divide. I was able to order a bunch of cases from the Colorado based brewery which made for a unique ‘specialty’ drink. Pretty cool to have a beer feature my new last name. I loved having our goldendoodle ‘puppy daughter,’ June be a part of our big day. The florist made a beautiful flower collar for her to wear. It just wouldn’t have been the same without her.

Exiting the reception in my dad’s classic 1956 Ford F150. He’s been working on this truck since I was a little girl. It’s now a beautifully restored show truck. My wedding dress which was custom made by a dear friend and talented designer, David Peck. His clothes are made and designed in Houston, Tx where my husband and I live. Matt’s grooms cake was very unique because it featured his two favorite hobbies, dirt track racing and kayak fishing. It was an exact replica of his dirt track car that he and his dad used to race. The kayak resting on top of the car is an exact replica of his kayak.

Another favorite touch was our DIY photo booth. Our guests took their own pictures and pasted along with a message in a book. I loved being able to look at the photo book on the way to our honeymoon. Also, for our first dance we two-stepped to ‘She’s Like Texas’ by Josh Abbott. Our love for Texas country was shown throughout our big day.

The day was absolutely perfect and exactly Matt and I. It was a bit of rustic mixed with a bit of chic. The video does an amazing job of capturing the feel our wedding. We are excited to exclusively share with you the most important day of our lives.

Elegant Wedding at Southwest School of Art

If I could sprinkle bits of gold on everything, I would do just that. It’s my belief that gold accents make everything better. But combined with black, and we’ve reached a whole new level. This elegant affair at the Southwest School Art is pure style, and has me reconsidering my own wedding color palette. Christine Sargologos snapped every chic detail, all available for your Pinterest pleasure right this way.

From Christine Sargologos Photography… Callyn & Eric are so easy going and relaxed, with an obvious and enormous love for each other. It meant the entire day was full of sweet little moments and tons of laughter. Both ceremony and reception were at the Southwest School of Art, a former convent with plenty of San Antonio heritage. With that backdrop they added a classic ivory, gold and black palette, along with playful fiesta-themed touches as homage to the city; the perfect balance of elegance and party. Guests loved the the mariachi band and table numbers, and the sombreros and paper floral crowns that were given as party favors. Dinner was served under the vaulted ceilings of the former chapel. The French Connection beautifully transformed the space so guests dined at vintage church pews in candlelight. Of course, nothing is more memorable than the dance party that followed. I think it’s safe to say everyone made it to the floor for at least a song or two. There’s nothing better than a celebration that blends sweetness, romance and a little silliness!

Elegant Halloween Wedding Inspiration

If I’m being honest, “elegance” isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when I think of a Halloween shoot. But thanks to the style-driven vision of Heather Benge Events, we’re proving this spooky-scary holiday can lend some pretty gorgeous inspiration for the Big Day and beyond. F. Dellit Designs put together the blooms, For Heavens Cake crafted the sweets, and Awake Photography snapped the goodies here.

From Heather Benge EventsFor this inspiration shoot, I decided to incorporate the colors of Halloween in an elegant way. With this dramatic holiday falling on a Friday this year and a Saturday next year, I figured combining the colors we all relate to Halloween with some simple elegance could make a big statement. In my opinion, it did! Black, Peach, White and lots of greenery really gave the shoot the elegance I was after. We decided to shoot out in a field to really show off our design and concept without it getting lost in a venue.

It was pouring rain the whole day, but for a brief moment (literally about 15 minutes) it decided to ease up and left us with the most dramatic sky. The stationery suite was designed with a bold stripe to give a modern feel. The tablescape incorporated lots of gold details with high and low floral elements. My favorite design element of the whole shoot are the Mr. and Mrs. chairs. The silhouette decals are unique and tell a story.

You immediately know when looking at the table which chairs are for the bride and groom. Fits the theme perfectly, don’t you think? This concept started out as a tiny idea earlier this year when a bride hired me to design their wedding the day after Halloween. I thought how fun it would be to use the holiday as an inspiration in an unexpected way. I couldn’t be more happy with how this shoot turned out. Hope you enjoy the photos!

Romantic Park City Club Wedding

This adorable duo had a BIG bridal party, and I love it. I’m a more the merrier kind of gal, and the bigger the bridal party means more blooms too! Posh Floral decked out the ten pretty in pink cowgirl-booted bridesmaids with darling bouquets, the handsome groomsmen in charming boutonnieres and the flower girl in a sweet floral crown. Not to mention, even more floral goodness at the reception—see it all in the gallery from Stephanie Brazzle!

From Posh FloralLeslie (McCombs) and Ivan Roussev met at Southern Methodist University, Ivan is from Bulgaria (and his step-father is French), Leslie is a true Texas girl, the wedding was a Texas chic with old world European. The ceremony was at Perkins Chapel on the SMU campus to tie together where the two met. Park City Club brought the different cultures together perfectly. Valerie and Valerie Wedding and Events designed the cheese/fruit/bread display, floral, and all the sweet accents (wine cork guest “book”, table numbers, etc.) to make it just lovely. Posh Floral brought in white and pink florals to match with the blush bridesmaids’ dresses, and gave the wedding and reception a soft and beautiful feel. Panini Bakery created the bride and groom cakes, including a special Gluten Free cake for the bride, and a birthday cake for her aunt! The Wonders rocked the house of 300 attendees, and kept everyone dancing! Everything was brought together and executed by Brittany Timmerman Events.

Romantic Navy Italian Inspired Wedding

I’ll be completely redoing my personal wedding Pinterest board after swooning this shoot overflowing with navy and gold goodness. From Ashley Bosnick PhotographyWhen dreaming up our Organic & Navy Italian shoot, our inspiration really came from the idea that while you may not be in the hills of Tuscany, you can still have your wedding feel as though you are there. The romance, warmth, and simplistic beauty of the Italian countryside is what inspired us to create soft, airy concept shoot with a hint of modern elegance.

Teaming up to make this vision come alive, Tracy Enoch Photography & Ashley Bosnick Photography wanted to ensure that this Itialian inspiration had unique twist. In addition to the creams, yellows and greens found in Italian weddings, we wanted make one of the focus’ be on including Navy in the color palette to give a more fresh and modern touch. With the mixture of more classic colors, and the soft overflowing and organic florals by Kate Foley.

The attire of the bride + groom was extremely important. We wanted the groom to have a classic look, but still look sharp in a form fitted navy suit. The bride’s gorgeous BHLDN Sian Gown had the perfect feel – it was romantic and flowy, with beautiful floral applique on this Tulle and Silk Charmeuse dress. Another important element was keeping the brides accessories simple and understated so it would not compete her dress. As such, her ornate gold pearl crown was the perfect touch to complete her Italian bridal look.

The wedding location could not have been more perfect. Aristide Event Venue, located outside if Dallas, Texas, was inspired and built after a Italian Church. It had the perfect feel with the neutral stone work, gravel paths, and large wooden church doors. To keep that overall feel going, we wanted the tablescape to have an effortless feel, but with classic elements including gold flatware, amber & blue depression glass, navy velvet chairs, a farm house table, and lots of greenery and white floral to set the tone.

From The Bride…James & I knew that we wanted a wedding that reflected our love for each other, our families, and our friends. We wanted our day to showcase our passions for our faith, our community, our relationship, our style, and our loves for great food, delicious drinks, awesome music, and gorgeous florals. We knew that we wanted to host a celebration not only of ourselves and of our marriage but also of the people who supported us along the way, both individually and as a couple.

We decided that we wanted to get married and have our reception outdoors and options in Dallas, where we live, felt limited. We ventured to Austin on the recommendation of our close friend & super talented photographer, Heather Hawkins, who was booked to shoot a wedding at Le San Michele, a venue located in Buda. We fell in love with the way Le San Michele combined a sense of sprawling European-style gardens with Texas foliage, where beautiful plants like succulents and bluebonnets and cacti were growing freely around the property. We loved that the venue owners had outfitted the space with plenty of amazing lighting and beautiful decor, and we appreciated that we could bring in any vendors of our choosing to help us on our special day.

Through yet another connection, we were introduced to The Nouveau Romantics. We cannot say enough good things about working with Liz and Hannah – they made our dreams become a reality. They helped us craft the ceremony and reception that we wanted, and we loved that they are a one-stop shop, a place where we could work together on everything paper, floral, and event-related, creating a really streamlined effect for our wedding as a whole. From succulent-filled bouquets and margaritas during cocktail hour to farm-style tables and family-style food service, Liz and Hannah helped us make selections that felt innately us, choices that reflected our relationship and the party we wanted to host for the people we love most in the world.

Liz and Hannah created a secret Pinterest board to allow us to post pieces of inspiration throughout the planning process. That was really helpful for me; as a visual learner who wanted to be extremely hands-on throughout this detail-oriented process, I really craved a place where I could see our vision come to life. Florals were important to me, and I was blown away with what Liz and her team came up with – our bouquets, filled with succulents and ranunculus and garden roses, detailed with trailing ribbon, were mind-blowingly gorgeous. Alongside my bridal bouquet (which I wish I could carry around with me every day!), my favorite pieces were the flower collar they made for our English mastiff, Callie, and the flower crown I wore during the reception.

The food and beverages were important to us, too, since James & I not only love to eat but we also love to host dinner parties and gatherings centered around a good meal and great conversation. We chose Royal Fig to do our catering, noticing them as a recommended caterer on the list of every single venue we visited in Austin, including Le San Michele. We loved that their menus change seasonally and that they source ingredients locally as much as possible. We also loved that they make their own homemade margarita mix, which is completely delicious. After the wedding, guests raved to us about the food – it was that tasty and memorable. Our favorite dishes were the green chile macaroni and cheese, the Shiner-braised beef crostinis, and the orecchiete pasta with asparagus and peas. Both our bride’s and groom’s cake were the same flavor – appropriately named the James Brown (maybe not after my husband, perhaps…) – provided by the super delicious Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop. We wanted our dessert table to primarily comprised of pies, a mutually favorite dessert of ours, and we were so glad that we went with Cutie Pies for these treats. We loved the blueberry and peach pies but the award-winning heath toffee pecan pie was a show-stopper.

The DJ from Look No Further provided the musical backdrop for an epic dance party, one that will live on in infamy in our memories. The DJ was super accommodating when James and his groomsmen asked to play a special, secret serenade at the reception, a musical treat that knocked my socks off. The video footage from the dance party documents just how awesome the music was!

All in all, our wedding day was everything we ever hoped for and so much more. We are so grateful and blessed, and we keep looking through Heather’s gorgeous photos and Patrick’s incredible video so we can relive that day over and over again!

Blogger Bride Devon Rachel’s Wedding

Over the past year, we’ve had a front-row seat as our dear blogger bride Devon Rachel planned her big day. From proposal to dress shopping, engagement shoot and every moment in between, we’ve grown to feel so a part of her planning journey and believe it or not, the big reveal is finally here. It’s a day for the (modern) storybooks, and thanks to the work of Jana Williams and Candlelight Films we get an inside look. Read on for the day in sweet Devon’s words!

From Devon RachelDevon from DevonRachel.com here with some rather exciting news: I said I Do! Chandler and I tied the knot. It was such an honor to take you along on the journey of planning as the first Style Me Pretty Blogger Bride. And after a whirlwind of newlywed bliss, I’m overjoyed to bring you a piece of our big day.

With our wedding, we wanted to mix traditional and non-traditional elements. I fell in love with the Joule Hotel because it fit my taste for modern yet livable décor with an LA vibe. I felt like the hotel suited us; we’re part Texas and a dash of California. The ceremony was held on the roof of the Joule Hotel where two floral archways complete with ombre rose petals lined the aisle. I purposely didn’t take a peek of the décor (and you know I wanted to!) before and I’m so glad I didn’t. I was overwhelmed with joy when I walked down the aisle and was in awe of how great Bella Flora did with the flowers.

Remember my “How to Choose Wedding Flowers” post? Well, our ceremony and reception were decked in beautiful blooms. I wanted guests to feel like they walked into a secret garden – and I think we achieved that! My bouquet was a very whimsical mix of gorgeous pink, peach, and white flowers. My sweet bridesmaids looked unbelievable in their different Amsale gowns. I chose three different colors as well – I really wanted to be unique with the styling and I was so pleased!

For my bridal look, I wanted to feel like a modern day Brigitte Bardot and I feel like we achieved that with my dress, makeup and hair. My first dress (flashback to that first Dress Shopping post) is by Oscar de la Renta and it was not originally a one-shoulder gown. I had them remove one side to really showcase the bow and it was so perfect for me. Can we talk about that huge bow? It makes my heart pitter-patter. I teamed up with Blushington and Dry Bar to do mine, my bridesmaids and both mother’s hair and makeup. It was such a fun time having both teams in our hotel room. They made everyone look and feel so amazing, just like in our Bachelorette Celebration post!

For the reception, we chose to bring in my love of black and white stripes to the menus and chairs at the head table. Floral runners lined each table next to candles and beautiful gold-rimmed glassware. Since I was a little girl, I dreamt of having a vintage Rolls Royce to take us away and a black and white checkerboard dance floor. I was so unbelievably happy to see both of these dreams come to life. And the flowers adorning the back of the car were just cherries on top of an amazing night.

Dancing has always and will always be important to us, so we wanted our guests to have plenty of room and great music to dance to. I have to say, our band, Limelight, completely blew us away. They brought the house down and we danced all night! Everyone had a great time and that’s what we wanted. Right outside the ceremony, mirrored tables housed my non-traditional guestbook: Vogue Weddings. Guests signed on each beautiful artistic page of the gorgeous coffee table book. We now display the book in our home and I love taking a moment to look through. We are incredibly fortunate to have such amazing love stories to look up to in our family. I wanted to showcase and celebrate the love over the years, so we placed black and white photos of our grandparents and parents’ wedding days on a mirrored table outside the ceremony.

I cannot explain the feeling of overwhelming of love I felt walking down the aisle. I walked arm in arm with my sweet father as I watched my husband to be cry tears of joy. I did not expect him to cry! I truly believe Chandler and I are soul mates and I am so thankful for him. In that moment, we made the most important commitment of our lives: to each other. It was so special! I thank everyone involved for making it happen.

I hope you enjoyed these moments from our wedding! It was truly the best day of my life and I am overjoyed to share it with all of you.

xoxo, Devon Rachel

Spring Downtown Dallas Loft Wedding

Here at SMP, Saturdays are for swooning and we’ve got just the wedding to get the inspiration party started. The bride’s design musts? Gold succulents, a neutral palette and a cool loft setting to mix “modern” with “tradition.” Apryl Ann snapped the gallery and you can click here right here to see more for yourself.

From Apryl Ann PhotographyMegan and Reese’s wedding as one of the happiest affairs! They chose to have their ceremony and reception indoors however we snuck off outside to grab some gorgeous natural portraits. Her reception was filled with neutral colors with gold succulents!

From The Bride…Reese and I were engaged while walking our pups in one of my favorite downtown Dallas parks. Coincidently that same evening my sweet little niece, and future flower girl, was born. After our engagement Reese surprised me with a party filled our closest friends and family. From an engagement to a new little niece, the night was definitely a time of celebration with the ones we loved the most.

In planning our wedding we knew we wanted that celebration with our friends and family to continue. Being the youngest of three and so the last in my family to get married it seemed making the big decisions was the easiest. I fell in love with our reception venue immediately when I saw the beautiful big windows and downtown views. I knew for the color scheme and flowers I wanted it to be romantic with hints of gold and succulents. I also knew I wanted meaningful touches throughout the ceremony and reception. However I was not quite sure how I wanted it all to come together…

The weather on our big day could not have been more beautiful; we took our pre-ceremony pictures in the park and then headed to the church. Everyone tells you how quickly the day passes and I cannot believe how right they were. I am so grateful we had Apryl Ann to capture all our special moments. One of my favorites was walking down the aisle with my dad and a bouquet adorned with my grandmother’s rosary. After our nuptials the party kicked off with Reese and I entering the venue with an awesome horn entrance.

Afterward, a newly married bridesmaid, told me to take a minute to “take it all in” and it was a wonderful piece of advice. GRO designs took everything I wanted and made it come to life. My very favorite was the succulent centerpieces dusted with gold. Another very special detail was our favor table filled with my late grandmother’s Czech wedding cookies all baked by Reese’s family. In a nod to our new hometown of San Antonio, CN catering did a delicious taco bar with margaritas. Finally in honor of where we met our groom’s cake was decorated with a big Double T for Texas Tech. Reese kicked off the dance floor with a solo dance to “respect”, then everyone joined in and Walton Stout Band kept the party going from there! They were so much fun! We handed out sunglasses and glow sticks as dance floor favors and kept the celebration going until the final song. I am so grateful to everyone who helped in making it the day of our dreams!

Eclectic Desert Chic Inspiration in Texas

This inspiration is a study in color; vibrant gorgeous hues blanketing desert details. And a Bride who isn’t afraid to rock a black dress. Masterminded by Wescott WeddingsRosehip Flora and Sophie Epton Photography, it takes a layered, textured approach to wedding design and infuses it with a jolt of jewel tones. From Seen Photography and Westcott WeddingsSometimes you just need a colorful door! When we first started collaborating on our styled shoot together and were dreaming up the possibilities, we wanted to create inspiration for our brides that was fresh, vibrant and unusual. We were inspired by the idea of an upscale desert wedding, and we wanted to blur the lines between glam/casual and modern/traditional. What we ended up with was a unique, yet attainable look that combines mid-century modern and vintage touches along with a desert chic aesthetic, ideal for the bride that wants a little extra color and eclectic design for her wedding.

Le San Michele in Buda provided an AMAZING backdrop for the day of…the stucco house with the blue door and the fields of cactus and agave reflected the theme perfectly. Most of the furniture and decor we selected from Mockingbird Domestics, a shop in Austin, TX that sources from local artisans. From the fabulous “hairy chair” to the buttery-smooth wooden mid-century bench and side table, every piece really helped set the tone for the shoot. We also used Mockingbird Domestics to select the vintage, gold-rimmed plates to display on terra cotta chargers, fringed tea towels to use as napkins and those incredible handcrafted arrows to add a pop of color at each place setting.

The oh-so-talented Erin at Rosehip Flora designed a lush collection of vibrant blooms seen everywhere from the delicate floral crown to that unbelievable bouquet. She also collaborated with Michael Merritt Studios, who let us borrow all of his beautiful clay vessels that added another special visual layer to our shoot. Samantha at Wondrous Whimsy designed and created all of the gorgeous paper goods for the shoot, including our “terracotta” menu (which she actually made from clay, and was one of our favorite touches!). Jackie with Sweet Treets Bakery created a simple, yet whimsical cake that paired perfectly with the color-blocked acrylic backdrop, ideal for any al fresco occasion. The black lace dress was a last minute decision that we are so thrilled we made, it really helped all the bright colors of our shoot “pop” even more and looked amazing on Molly, our model. We really love the way brides are branching out beyond lighter dress colors for their big day, and it also helped elevate the overall elegance and unique look of the shoot. We had an incredible time planning the entire look to fruition, and hope we can provide some great inspiration to brides looking for something chic and unusual for their upcoming event!

Whimsical Coral + Turquoise Tex-Mex Wedding

When Friday starts off with a little Tex-Mex lovin’, you know it’s going to be a happy morning. Captured by Anne Marie Photography, this backyard fete is filled with fun, and the best part? The entire family rolled up their sleeves to make it happen. From the tree-hung poms to the colorful maracas (shaken for a kiss!) to the giant papel picado backdrops, this day of love turned out to be a sweet homemade party.

Whimsical

From the beautiful Bride…My wedding was a mesmerizing merger of dreams – mine, my (now) husband Rick’s, and both of our families’ – especially our dear mothers. In the end, though, it could not have been more perfect, and I had very little to do with it. My dream “whimsical Tex-Mex” wedding was a true team effort, and my gratitude to every person who contributed will never fade.

Rick and I had toured all the major wedding venues in San Antonio before choosing to have the wedding at his parent’s beautiful home. It was an easy choice: a sprawling yard, no set vendors, no curfew, and, of course, it fit our budget! Rick’s older sister Thea had been married in the backyard in 2009, and it was so utterly lovely. We felt truly blessed when Rick’s parents agreed to host. Then, we started planning.

When I say “we,” I really mean everyone except for me. I was the anti-Bridezilla: the rarely opinionated, remote bride. I was off at Harvard Law School in Massachusetts while my future husband and our mothers did all the heavy lifting. I really cannot emphasize how much they did for me. I would express a vague idea – “I would like the yard to glow” – and my mom procured hundreds of mason jars, candles, and twinkle lights within days. Rick and his brothers personally strung the trees in the yard with the twinkle lights. It took almost two months of weekends dedicated to this task to complete it. Thea had the brilliant idea to use potted flowers as the base for poles to string up festoon lighting over the dance floor, another key element of the wedding I envisioned.

Rick’s mom, Laura, and her dear friend Keith, an event designer, were the most instrumental in creating my dream of “whimsical Tex-Mex” in the back yard. Laura had the brilliant idea to frame the decorations around papel picado, Mexican paper doilies. She found beautiful pastel papel picado to hang in the tent. Her most genius idea, however, was to create three giant foam-core papel picado pieces, customized for the wedding with our names and wedding date, and set them along the fence. Although this was Mama Menchaca’s brain child, it took literally the entire extended family, including many dear friends, to make the project happen. Setting up the giant papel picado and hanging the decorations in the dinner tent on the day of the wedding took the manual labor of a small army of Rick, his brothers, and some of their closest friends. When I saw the final product as I walked down the aisle, I was overwhelmed with tears of joy and gratitude. It looked perfect!

The wedding was full of heartfelt touches that made the night unforgettable. My mother had the inspired idea to order maracas in my wedding colors, and to add little tags that said “shake at the kiss.” During the ceremony, as Rick and I first kissed as husband and wife, we were surrounded by the cheerful thrum of those colorful, festive maracas, enveloping us in the love of friends and family. Rick’s parents had arranged for a mariachi band to play during dinner, which was gloriously festive (and generated some of my very favorite photos). Rick’s brother Ryan and my sister Taylor gave amazing Best Man’s and Maid of Honor speeches, which had us in happy tears the entire time. For the first dance, my father-in-law came to the rescue. I couldn’t decide between two songs: Ben Fold’s “The Luckiest,” one of my favorite songs of all time, and the Ronette’s “Be My Baby,” the song Rick and I consider to be “our song.” Rick’s father had the perfect solution: do both songs! Our DJ spliced them together, and we cried profusely and laughed hysterically throughout the first dance.

When I say the wedding was a team effort, I really mean it. It would not have happened without the blood, sweat and tears of the Menchaca and Mallory families. Because of all the inspiration, resourcefulness, creativity, and pure manual labor poured into my big day, it was a dream come true. Lucky for us, the dream was captured perfectly by Anne Marie Photography, so we can relive it for the rest of our lives.
