From The Bride…Garrett and I were fortunate enough not only to have the wedding of our dreams, but also to be able to have it in Garrett’s backyard. As we started wedding planning and researching venues, we quickly realized that nothing could beat a backyard reception. Our goal was to create an environment that felt secluded, tucked away, almost enchanted, even though we were set in the middle of the Texas Hill Country. What we were able to create over the next few months, after a lot of help from both of our parents, as well as a little makeover to the yard and a few large tents, far exceeded both Garrett and I’s expectations. With the guidance of an outstanding wedding planner and amazing vendors we were able to spend our perfect wedding night celebrating our new life together with our closest family and friends.

Outdoor Summer Hill Country Wedding

Strictly Texan with a touch of glamour, this fabulous Vista West Ranch fete from Heather Hawkins is Southern with a shabby chic flair. I’m talking a wedding party sporting cowboy boots and Texas Hill Country dressed up like you’ve never seen before. It’s rustic meets romance and it’s all waiting for you in the gallery!

From Heather Hawkins… I’m eager to share this sweet outdoor summer wedding with you! It had been pouring rain all Spring in Texas and the clouds held back for this outdoor ceremony, lucky for the bride Katie!

From the beautiful Bride… My husband, Dalton, and I have a very unique love story. It’s one that we love to tell over and over, even when we sometimes get caught up in life. Our wedding was an exact reflection of our story, which began in Austin TX five years ago. Originally from New Jersey and having moved to Chicago for college, an outdoor Texas wedding was not exactly what I had always dreamed of since a little girl. However, it couldn’t have been more fitting for us as a couple. I wanted to bring to life all of the many qualities that made me fall in love with Dalton for our special day. When I met him, I found myself quickly at ease with his laid-back nature, free spirit, and gentle heart. Born and raised in Texas, Dalton grew up spending a lot of time on his family’s ranch in West Texas. On our first visit to Vista West Ranch, we immediately connected with the rustic hillside beauty and intricate Texas charm that I myself have come to love. Among all qualities about Dalton that I appreciate most, much like what I loved most about Vista West, was how different he was from any other relationship I have had. He was a country boy, yet sophisticated and simple with so much character; he could be quiet at times and others full of life. It was a familiar feeling, and one I was eager to share with all our friends and family a little over a year later.

After finding our golden venue, we got even luckier with owners Joe and Stacy from Vista West Ranch, who could not have been more inviting and accommodating throughout the whole planning process. From beginning to end, the perfect day we had imagined turned out to be just that and more. Every little detail was so well thought out by our wonderful vendors, “Team Huey,” especially our Day-Of Coordinator, Jaime, from Coordinate This. There’s something so surreal and romantic about an outdoor ceremony in the middle of Texas Hill Country that speaks to you, as if we were the only ones in that moment promising our lives to each other. I could not have imagined a more meaningful spot to say our vows than under the gorgeous lace and eucalyptus-entwined trellis that Lindsay from Petal Pushers designed for us. Continuing the tone of our ceremony, our head dinner table was lined with the same fresh eucalyptus runner over a lovely vintage farm table. The room was surrounded by natural exposed wood, draped burlap curtains and hanging ball twine lights, while outside our guests enjoyed our signature cocktails and sugar cookies by the bonfire under the twinkling-lit oak trees. Needless to say, the night was our kind of “dreamy.”

Our Texas Wedding would not have been complete without our wedding party dressed in cowboy boots and a first dance to Texas Country artist, Wade Bowen. The love and support was so present in the room, and looking back we would not have changed a thing. Thanks to our amazing photographer, Heather Hawkins, we are able to enjoy looking at all our photos of the day and night reminiscing all the little moments that seem to fly by so fast. Many traveled so far to share in our special day and now we’ll forever have the once in a lifetime memories.

Organic + Elegant Historic Home Wedding

When a librarian marries a scientist you KNOW it’ll be an affair chock-full of smart details. Especially when said Dallas fete is packed with wooden engraved coasters, an on-site poet, and plenty of organic details. It is – without a doubt – a lesson in love and one scroll through the gallery from Apryl Ann Photography shows you exactly what I mean!

From Apryl Ann PhotographySara and Josh, a librarian and scientist from Chicago, were married on a Saturday afternoon in the historic district of Dallas. Their wedding was filled with elegant and organic details such as the silk and willow ribbon tied to each individual wooden engraved coaster. Or the arch made of cream and white florals. And because Sara is such a word worm, they had a poetry maker there typing up mini poems on a typewriter based on what the guests wanted.

Whimsical + Fun Beach Boardwalk Engagement Session

Growing up in Northern California’s Bay Area, one of my favorite things to do every summer was go to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. With carousels, ferris wheels, roller coasters and more, beach boardwalks are the perfect spot for a fun-loving couple to take their engagement photos. And these gorgeous shots from Feather & Twine Photography are exactly why. See all the fun here.

From Feather & Twine PhotographyVivian and Kevin came to us with the idea of wanting their engagement session to be really, really FUN. They are currently in a long distance relationship because of jobs and grad school, so when they get to be together they truly live each moment full of intention. Vivian told us that she really loved the travel photos that Talon and I take when we are on trips together, and that they wanted their engagements to have that same vibe and instantly our heads were spinning with ideas. We had just moved to Austin, so we traveled down to Kemah to meet these two and it truly was like a play date with friends in a new city. They were unafraid to be charismatic, goofy and playful in front of the camera and that is truly what makes all the difference in an engagement session. It allowed us to take their love and truly photograph it in all it’s essence.

From the Bride and Groom… We wanted the engagement shoot to capture what our lives are with each other. We’re just two kids, who happen to be adults, exploring the world together with childlike wonder. For us, the engagement shoot felt so natural because we didn’t feel like we were under the scrutiny of a camera lens. We took a walk, took in the view, rode the Ferris wheel, and talked on a bench. We just let ourselves be swept away by a day of fun with two new friends, Kelsey and Talon.

Romantic + Natural Outdoor Jewish Wedding in Austin

Married under an ancient oak in a field of wildflowers, this darling duo said “I Do” in a big celebration with family and friends. Filled with Southwestern details like succulents on the reception tables, cactus pins on the escort cards, and an array of fresh blooms atop the Polka Dots Cupcake Factory 5-tier wedding cake, this organic gallery from The Nichols is not one to be missed!

From the beautiful Bride… Growing up in Austin, Abe and I ran in similar circles for most of our young lives. We didn’t actually become a couple until our late twenties – but once we paired up, it was clear it was for the long haul. When we decided to get married, we knew it would be a big celebration with lots of family and friends.

It was important that our wedding felt authentic to us – and that it represented us as a couple. We wanted to create an intimate experience – despite a large guest list – that combined our taste and style with elements of a traditional Jewish ceremony. When we stumbled upon our venue, we immediately knew it was the perfect place for us. There was a lot of flexible outdoor space and fields of wild flowers with gorgeous old oak trees.

When the big day finally arrived – the weather could not have been more perfect. After a sunset ceremony, guests enjoyed dinner and dancing under the stars. It was a perfect night – and one that we will never forget.

From Charla StoreyThis gorgeous Lavendar garden inspired shoot has us drooling with its rich tones, gorgeous light and I mean this couple! wow!

From Lindsey BrunkThis design collaboration with Charla Storey Photography embraced classic garden romance with an organic twist. Chandor Gardens in Weatherford, Texas created the perfect backdrop for our lavender and cream color palette with moody grey stone accents, rock pathways and plenty of greenery.

Our bride wore a whimsical Liancarlo gown for her first look, featuring playful floral appliques and a full tulle skirt. Soft curls and delicate, romantic make up from Tracy Melton Artistry gave her the perfect glow. Bows & Arrows created romantic florals featuring anemones, lavender roses, pops of dark berries and a touch of barely-there blush.

A handmade wood table from The Olive Bench arranged amongst the garden brought relaxed sophistication and was set with matte lavender dinnerware and subtle silver accents. A custom invitation suite from The Left Handed Calligrapher featured delicate script and our stunning cake by Cakewalk Bake Shop was playfully painted to unexpected hues of lavender.

For her second look, our bride wore a stunning Jenny Packham gown with elegant silver embroidery and illusion sleeves. Her hair pulled into an effortless side swept, twisted ponytail and topped with not one, but two beautiful pieces from Jennifer Behr.

Organic French Bridal Inspiration

Some of my favorite captures during a wedding day are the quiet, calming (yet filled with anticipation) getting ready moments. They radiate that sweet wedding glow and the excitement of a full day of love to come. From stylist Meggie FranciscoThis shoot tells the story of a bride day-dreaming of her Parisian wedding from the comfort of her home town. Cozy in her favorite grey tee, she tries on her veil and waits for winter to pass.

Suddenly but slowly, she opens her eyes between naps. She finds herself enveloped by a hazy warmth as the colors begin to dance alive from the gray and everlasting cold, yet she still feels disbelief: Is this real? Is that time finally here? A half-smile comes to her lips as she feels the sun warm her bones. She breathes in the scent of fresh blossoms and relishes the feeling of her delicate dress resting – finally – on her shoulders.

This style session draws on inspiration from the buttery tones at the Palace of Versailles: warm yellow and cream colors, complemented by subdued blues for contrast. After the icy winter and rainy spring, it’s time for peaches and pastels to come to life. The concept celebrates the joy and sophistication of summer with just a touch of European elegance.

From Kayla Barker Fine Art PhotographyThis beautiful summer wedding of Jacey and Dex was full of love as they were surrounded by their closest friends and family at this remote venue. They were married next to a gorgeous water spring in Rocksprings, Texas at the 700 Springs Ranch. They couldn’t have asked for a more perfect backdrop for them to exchange vows.

Jacey walked down the aisle in her sister’s wedding dress which fit her perfectly. It was so special that they both were able to wear the same dress for their wedding days! The blue of the bridesmaid dresses played off the gorgeous blue water of the river.

Their friends and family helped them by creating beautiful, colorful flowers, table displays and food arrangements. Succulents were incorporated throughout this Texas ranch wedding. Guest gathered around the banquet tables to eat dinner by candlelight as the sun set behind the cliff.

It was a beautiful, intimate and perfect Texas wedding for Jacey and Dex.

Elegant + Romantic Garden Wedding

One scroll through this garden fete and I’m all smiles. Why? Just look at the love between these two! It’s couples like this that make our hearts go pitter patter, and with Laura Leslie behind the lens it’s sure to get yours racing. Overflowing with sentimental details, from the cake topper to the ceremonial arch, one peek at the gorgeous gallery and you’ll be grinning from ear to ear. See it all here!

From the beautiful Bride… Two special details come to mind because they were so personal: First was the arch we stood under during our ceremony was envisioned and created by my dad and a couple of other very talented friends… adding a very sentimental touch to our ceremony. The second was a gift from my older sister; a unique spin on the cake topper. She gave us a custom made cake topper the day before our wedding, featuring a clay version of Bryan and myself, a replica of the photo that we used for our save the date. The picture was originally taken in front of a wall in Austin, Tx the weekend of our engagement. I loved that this particular photo was close by throughout our entire wedding.

We used a friend’s hot sauce, “Hotlanta” as a wedding favor. Bryan and I both share a love for anything spicy and thought this was also a great way to pay homage to the city we call home.

The most stressful part of planning was finding the perfect venue. We knew that we wanted to have a wedding within the city, yet I had always imagined myself getting married outdoors (and was unwilling to let go of that image). Bryan and I also wanted to be able to have both our ceremony and reception at the same location. That being said, we scoured the city for venues that would allow us to have both a garden-like ceremony, with also having to be large enough to accommodate all of our guests and at the same time, fit within our budget. After a long, painstaking search we stumbled upon Callanwolde which was the perfect fit for us.

If rustic beauty is your jam then this next piece of pretty from Gold Anchor Weddings + Design has got your name written all over it. It’s the ultimate farm fresh inspiration complimented by a beautiful setting, and Rebecca Ellison Photography captured moments with easemaking it possible to hold onto this inspiration forever. See it all unfold in the gallery!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/126216833 600 338]

From Gold Anchor Weddings + Design… It is our goal to show couples that it is possible to have a blend of the Rustic beauty of the countryside with more formal and traditional thematic elements. Through the idea of creating farm fresh inspiration and following a love story that crossed years and miles, this styled shoot was born.

Imagine a couple who meet at a local farm stand in the South. They grew up riding bikes down dirt roads, working at the local farm stand on the weekends, and building a friendship and love that would bring them together for life. Going separate ways for school and to travel, all the while never forgetting their roots, the two found one another years later while coming back to visit the old farm stand where their connection once began. As if not a day had gone by, they were returned to the love that was carried closed to heart for years and across a world of travels. An engagement was celebrated and the traveled couple decided on an intimate setting for the wedding celebration in the place where their love story began so many years ago.

In a beautiful setting just south west of Fort Worth at The Brooks at Weatherford, the story came to life. The repurposed vintage decor elements from Rent My Dust, and unique rustic ambiance with large fireplaces, stained concrete, and outdoor beauty made the setting intoxicating. Soft and romantic white and peach blooms and greenery provided by Kelly Norvell of Bridal Blooms created an over the top transformation of the large farm table and fireplace backdrop. Silver and ivory china with rustic mason jars, copper mug glass ware and rosemary sprig napkins added to the details and elegance. Rebecca Ellison Photography and Film captured the moments of the day with ease and perfection making it possible to hold onto this inspiration forever.

Our breathtaking bride in a flowing peach and white wedding gown by David Tutera embodied natural beauty with a look by Tease to Please hair and make up artists. Paired with her handsome groom in cowboy boots, the couple was absolutely stunning. Farm style details shown with rustic fruit crates, a vintage Schwinn bicycle, homemade pies, a lemon-blueberry naked cake, and fresh squeezed lemonade made the look complete. Ending the night with a little sparkle and love in the air could not have been more beautiful. The collaboration and hard work that went into creating this gorgeous setting and inspirational shoot was worth every moment!

From The Bride…Texas is a very special place for us. We met in Houston at Rice University. Kyle’s family is from Texas and Althea’s godfather has a ranch, Cibolo Creek Ranch, in west Texas. Not only is Cibolo a beautiful family owned property making it a clear front runner, but it was the first vacation we took together in 2007. Marfa is such a unique place that feels stuck in time; we knew that having a wedding there would mean our friends and family would spend a lot of time together, something that can sometimes be lost in the hustle and bustle of a city wedding. In fact, we spent many nights leading up to the wedding playing board games with family and friends. We wanted our wedding to feel fun and laid back, and we spent a lot of time working with each of our vendors to make sure everything from the invitations to the cocktails to the night’s activities reflected our personalities. Getting to Marfa is definitely not an easy journey (a four hour drive from either of the nearest airports), so we were so lucky and grateful to have 120 guests attend from all over the country. Many of our guests were coming from California or New York and we were so happy to share the beautiful Marfa, TX with them.

Austin Engagement Session at Le San Michele

I gotta get myself to Austin pronto! These colors, plants and flowers alone are fantastic, then on top of all that, we have these two lovebirds and their adorableness. Emily Delamater captured their love among the grounds of Le San Michele and we get to soak up all the goodness in this gallery. And stay tuned; we have the rustic and uber romantic wedding for these cuties coming on Monday!

From Emily Delamater… Such a gorgeous couple and such a gorgeous spot. I have to admit I was completely giddy while photographing Karissa and John at Le San Michele. They have such an ease with each other and were so fun to collaborate with. They live in Austin now but both grew up in New England – so we were so happy to get to come to them to photograph their engagement photos before we would capture their wedding in Maine later that season. It is always fun to get to photograph a couple in a new place, I feel like you get to see things with fresh eyes and every city and place has a quality of light all its own.

Elegant + Organic Wedding in Texas

Thinking about a short engagement? Take this couple, who managed to pull of this elegant affair with only 5 months to plan. Using inspiration from the outdoors, the simplistic nature captured by Shaun Menary Photography is what makes it all the more special. Graced with Sugar Bee Sweets and a Candlelight Films, you can see the entire day unfold below!

From the beautiful Bride… Adam and I met in June 2014 through mutual friends at Watermark Community Church. July 24, 2014 was our first date which started with coffee and ended with dinner 4 hours later. That same Saturday we planned to hang out for a bit which turned into a 12 hour adventure. We sat under a tree at White Rock Lake. We both knew we wanted to get married. Official dating followed shortly after that. As we began to share our passions, our purpose and the redemption we have both experienced through Christ we were confident Christ had a purpose for our relationship. December 3, 2014 Adam took me to dinner. After dinner be handed me a notebook with character traits he saw in me that would be beneficial in marriage. As I read them I knew… We arrived at the same tree at White Rock where we first learned so much about each other. Adam asked me to marry and I of course said yes. Thankfully our families and friends have been incredibly supportive.

My planning experience was short and sweet with only 3.5 months to plan. I could not have done so without Adam’s constant encouragement and support. We looked at two venues. With such a short engagement most everything was booked. We decided on a Sunday evening and loved our venue. Food and beverages were decided upon based on the venue. We chose a baker that one of our friends had just used for my cake. One of Adam’s buddies baked his gig ’em cake. I ordered my dress online and was able to try it on and return it if the size didn’t work. I ended up only trying on two different styles. I was familiar with the florist and loved their style. I had very little to do with the florist other than our first meeting to give an idea of what I liked. Our DJ was recommended by a friend in my community group. I didn’t seek many options but went with my instinct. We sent save the dates out via email and quickly picked our wedding invitations.

Our design inspiration came from the outdoors. I like the beautiful simplicity that natural gives. We didn’t have many extras as far as decoration. Our wedding was outside so we didn’t need anything more than each other. Inside for the reception I know I wanted banquet style seating and Edison lights over the dance floor for the main effect. There were simple green runners and votives along the tables. We used sustainable bamboo plates and sliver flatware. I liked the combo. We stuck with simplicity.

The first meaningful detail of our wedding was that our grandmothers took the place of the traditional flower girls. I wanted to follow in the foot steps of women who have done marriage well for the past 57+ years. My youth pastor officiated the service so having him walk us into one of the most important seasons of our lives was great.

For brides currently planning their weddings, I would say don’t make engagement long. Everything that is necessary can get done quickly so don’t stress. Your wedding day will be perfect regardless of small glitches along the way. I’m so thankful we didn’t have time to spend on things that we would not have remembered. There are endless possibilities and options for a wedding but don’t weigh yourself down. Take time weekly to spend time with your fiancé make a point to not talk about the wedding. Don’t lose site of the purpose of the wedding. For us that was to resemble Christ’s love for the church and to vow to pursue that same self sacrificing love Christ demonstrated. Everything will get done and if it doesn’t, it didn’t need to be anyway. Enjoy this season! You can learn so much about your fiancé.

Most importantly, have fun! Your wedding is just the beginning. Marriage is so much more than a dress, cake, flowers… Those things make the wedding day so special and important which it is and should be! So, enjoy the planning and all that it entails. Adam and I think marriage is a big deal and wanted to celebrate that. The best advice Adam and I have received was from my Papa who has been married to my Nana over 60 years. He told us to “try hard everyday”. Enjoy this season of engagement and look forward to the many years ahead. Marriage is awesome!

Colorful Hill Country Dinner Party Inspired Wedding

Tucked away in the Hill Country of Texas, this home state fete is cozy with a capital C. For it was over an intimate meal with friends that this duo decided they wanted their Big Day to feel just like fun dinner party, and I have to say they NAILED it. From the cupcake pedestals to the the hand-built arbor crafted by the Bride’s grandfather, to the musical DIY boutonnieresLove, The Nelsons captured it all in the gallery!

From the beautiful Bride… I think the inspiration for our wedding started over dinner with friends. Dave and I were hosting and doing exactly what we love to do which is have the best time with friends and family over a cozy meal and a glass of wine. I remember talking to Dave and discussing that we wanted almost a “dinner party atmosphere” for our wedding. Something that really was indicative of our life as a couple. Dave and I live in Nebraska, but I am a born and raised girl from Texas and I couldn’t imagine not getting married in my home state! After that was determined our team of vendors fell together naturally. My aunt and her husband own Pilot Knob Vineyard tucked away in the Hill Country of Bertram, Texas. It is gorgeous with unsoiled views that go for miles. My amazing planner, Ellen Westcott, and I have been friends since our high school dance team days. I remember her bringing wedding magazines to read on the bus on the way to football games. This girl was born to plan weddings. :) Then I scooped up Love, The Nelsons as our photographers whom I actually met years ago when we were neighbors! Such a small world. Dave and I were very adamant about finding an officiant who could make our ceremony something special. We found Reverend Lorelei of Sacred Affairs and couldn’t have been happier. It was personal, Christ-centered and unlike any other wedding ceremony I have experienced. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the bunch!

With Ellen and Pinterest to guide my way we nailed down a vision and set out to make it happen. Dave and I started with a bang by sending viewmasters with a custom reel as our wedding invitations. We wanted to signal to family and friends that this was going to be a FUN party and totally representative of us as a couple. A couple of my favorite DIY projects were the ceremony arbor that my grandpa built. I will cherish that forever and plan to have many snuggly nights under it! I made the groom and his groomsmen’s boutonnieres. They are all musicians and I managed to find Christmas ornaments that looked just like their actual instruments. It was a fun surprise for them and a cool, unique spin on the boutonniere. My other favorite touch was our cupcake place cards. I went to thrift stores and antique stores almost every weekend for a full year collecting anything glass that would work as a cupcake pedestal. We ended up with an assortment of candlesticks and sorbet cups which we spray painted gold. It was the perfect personal touch for everyone to have their name in a cupcake on it’s very own pedestal. Meredith Speer with Bristol Lane did the most amazing job on our florals. Everything from my bouquet to the centerpieces was a gorgeous work of art! Since we had people coming in from all over the country, we worked with Catering With A Twist to create a seriously delicious spread with a touch of southern flare including chicken and waffle teasers. They also did our cupcakes and a s’mores bar as a late night snack. I wish we could eat our wedding meal every night!

I look back at our photos and am so happy to see that it was everything we wanted. It felt like the dinner parties we love to host which is exactly the experience we were after. You can tell from the photos that everyone was genuinely having fun, smiling and celebrating with us. It was absolutely perfect.

Elegant Downtown Dallas Ballroom Wedding

From the dramatic steps to the Corinthian stone columns, the portico of the Dallas Scottish Rite Temple stole our hearts. This wedding’s a delight for the eyes, thanks to talents like Significant Events Of Texas and Erin Blair Make Up & Hair Design. But our favorite thing? How adorable and absolutely in love the couple are. See all the special moments, captured by Anna Routh Photography, right here.

From Anna Routh PhotographyErin and Zach are two of the most wonderful people I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. Not only are they just so easy going, but they love each other and their friends and family so immensely. The joy on their faces throughout the day was so evident and so amazing. They were so excited to join their lives and their families and it showed. Erin and Zach chose the historic Scottish Rite Temple in Downtown Dallas (where they live) to tie the knot. The setting could not have been more perfect – the regal front porch, the stunning ballroom and all the details were just on point. Erin and Zach had a beautiful time celebrating with their friends and family, and it was such an honor for me to be able to capture their bond.
