From Stephanie Brazzle Photography… Katherine and Brooks have the compassionate, loving, fun and romantic relationship we all hope for, built on faith and a deep love for each other. The pair wanted to capture all of this in their wedding and turned to Alex Stein of Events by Alex who provided flawless execution of their vision. The ceremony took place in the romantic Garden Room of the classic Rosewood Crescent Hotel in downtown Dallas, Texas on a lovely early summer evening, with the beautiful accompaniment of the European Ensemble String Quartet, and officiated by Brooks’ grandfather. Following the ceremony guests were welcomed into the Grand Ballroom filled with lush arrangements of blush, champagne and mint, along with lace accents and candlelight, creating a timeless and romantic feel for the reception. Fun and dancing continued long into the evening with the live band.

From LuAnn…. Lindley, the bride, and I spoke long distance about her wedding concept overall. She had a very clear vision incorporating black and white striped linens, gold metallic accents, and colorful florals. Traditional with a modern edge was the vibe she wanted to express that day. The garden setting was an essential feature for us to accentuate. We wanted her bridal bouquet to have a structured style with a garden feel.

It needed texture and depth with a compact shape overall. It was also a priority to utilize seasonal flowers in the color palette we set out for the day. Lindley shared several inspiration photos with me before we spoke on the phone. We landed on two bouquet images that we took elements from, along with some seasonal florals we had discussed, to create her custom bouquet. A few months before the wedding, Lindley and Joseph flew down to Austin from their home in the northeast to finalize their wedding details. We reviewed the inspiration photos and discussed the details, adding gold ribbons as the finishing touch on her lovely bouquet.

I love creating custom floral designs for my brides. It’s important for me to bring out the personality of each of my bridal clients. I want the bridal bouquet and all of the wedding designs to tell the couple’s story. It’s a skill I’ve worked on for a long time. I try my best to listen to the bride as she tells me her likes and dislikes, to hear the little highs and lows when she describes a certain style she saw somewhere or tells me her favorite flower. The inspiration photos she shares with me also help guide me to narrow in on those elements she is drawn to for her wedding flowers. I take all of those elements and do my best to extract the ideal combination of colors and seasonal varieties to bring out her personal style in flowers. The flowers should always compliment the bride and each bride deserves something unique and her all own.

SMP Blogger Bride: Meet Olivia of LivvyLand

When we heard Olivia of Livvyland was rocking some sparkly, left handed bling, we promptly began jumping for joy. Because when the sweetest lil’ lady says “Yes” it means we get to welcome her to the Blogger Bride tribe. She’ll be sharing her fashionable journey down the aisle with us, starting with her lakeside e-sesh. Dive right in to The Vault for more, and be sure to follow along every step of the way!

From Oliva of LivvylandHello Brides-to-be, my name is Olivia and I run a fun little fashion and lifestyle blog based in Austin, Texas called Livvyland, and also work for a tech company full-time. I’d like to think of my style as approachable, casual and a little boho here and there – much like the city I live in. Let’s just say when SMP asked me to be their latest Blogger Bride, I quickly stepped outside the office (okay, so I may have sprinted…) to call my fiancé and geek out about the news. Given that Blake is not a social media lover like myself (opposites attract, right?) nor has he been ogling all things wedding related since, well…ever, I’d give him a 10 out of 10 in his acting abilities to share my level of excitement. He’s a keeper!

Blake and I met back in high school when we were teenagers. Funny enough, our young love began on a class field trip when my bus buddy didn’t show up, so Blake asked if he could sit with me on the three hour ride from Austin to Houston. I guarantee you that my teenage self was in full panic mode because all the girls in school knew who he was, but between composing my anxiety to keep conversation alive for six hours and worrying whether or not I had food caught in my braces (remember those days?), there was a spark that was undeniable

Flash forward two years later when we were both attending college at the University of Texas. Blake broke up with me and we went our separate ways for four years. We both focused on school and dated other people throughout – however, I had this thing I called “first love syndrome” where no matter what, I could not shake my feelings for Blake! Let’s just say I mastered the breakup wallowing phase and it kind of stuck around for another two years following the breakup…as did my routine of blasting sad Taylor Swift songs and belting them in the car…(White Horse, anyone?).

It was a blessing and a curse that the Biomedical Engineering building and the Journalism school were along the same pathway, which meant I’d run into him regularly. Though it was tough to see him so often, it also gave us time to catch up and stay in each other’s lives over the next few years.

I graduated UT in 2012 and began working in the marketing department at Kendra Scott Jewelry shortly after. I was at home when I received a text from Blake telling me in the midst of cleaning his apartment he found an old note I’d written him years ago and that after re-reading it, he felt inclined to reach out. He asked me to grab a drink and catch up, and of course, I accepted the invitation.

One drink led to over six hours of conversation and it was clear that timing was in our favor this time around. Those four years apart were the best thing for us and gave us time to mature and grow as individuals. After six months of dating “part deux,” we moved in together and our relationship felt stronger than ever!

As for the proposal…Blake works in cancer research as a scientist/software developer and he used his coding background to create a website that chronicled our full story and history together. He surprised me one morning during what appeared to be normal coffeehouse work session at one of my favorite spots along Lake Austin that we’ve been going to together since we were teens (and it’s also where we took the photos in this post). He kept his cool all morning and finally said he wanted to show me something on his computer…and when I read the first line and saw a picture of us from 2007 as kiddos, I completely lost it. After I scrolled through the site reading through little snippets of our life together and wiped the endless stream of tears away, he got down on one knee…and the rest is history!

Given my workload managing Livvyland and my day job, we decided a long engagement was best for us so that we could have ample planning time. In terms of a dream wedding, our biggest hope is that it’s ultra romantic, personal and above all, fun! I am most excited about working with people we’ve known since high school or college who have started their own businesses and now work in the wedding industry in Austin – pastry chefs, florists, calligraphers, photographers, etc. I think it’s so sweet to keep things intimate and “in the family” per se. Aside from that, I’ll be sharing the rest as it comes! Next up on my to-do list is wedding dress shopping this weekend…I’m thinking something feminine and whimsical! You can follow my dress shopping adventures on Instagram, I’m certain I’ll be sharing any news!

I am beyond thrilled and so honored to a be the newest Blogger Bride and I can’t wait to chronicle our wedding journey leading up to the big day on October 15, 2016. Thank you so much for following along!

Elegant Dallas Wedding

Imagine a day boasting lush florals from Kate Foley Designs, breathtaking details crafted by Hitched Events and a bride and groom who are the serious definition of stunning and you’ll land squarely on this affair captured by Joshua Aull.  Think beyond beautiful stylings meets heartwarming moments meets cultural details sprinkled throughout.  Join us for so much more in The Vault.

From the Bride… Eugene and I have known each other for almost eight years. We met in New York City; I work in fashion and he works in finance. We were both working crazy hours, but somehow made it work. After getting engaged in the Amalfi Coast, we moved to Dallas and decided to have our wedding here given it is our new home.

Eugene and his family moved from the Soviet Union in the early 90’s, and they still hold dear many Russian traditions. So when we began planning our wedding, we knew there would be lots of vodka! Nostrovia!

One of our favorite places in New York is a Russian restaurant, Mari Vanna. It’s like stepping into your Babushka’s (Grandmother’s) house in St. Petersburg: peeling floral wallpaper, mismatched chairs, towering china cabinets, hanging plants and of course dining tables with every inch covered in food. It was the perfect inspiration for our big day since we had so much history there as a couple.

We found our venue almost immediately. We fell in love with the Joule- its open terrace, art installations and rich history as a Bank in downtown Dallas. It just spoke to us when we first walked in. In fact, it was both the first and last venue we considered. The mirrored ballroom with soft lighting and dripping garden florals would make for the romantic setting we were looking for. The Joule even worked with us to create a custom Russian inspired menu with all of Eugene’s favorite recipes.

Being new to Dallas, I was incredibly lucky to find such talented vendors that shared my aesthetic and vision. The ladies at Hitched Events helped us stay relaxed and pulled together an amazing day. Our ceremony was held on the rooftop terrace of the hotel in a floor-to-ceiling windowed room with views of downtown Dallas. Propmaker Event Rentals designed a beautiful natural birch chuppah adorned with flowers and candles under which Eugene and I said our vows. My dress was a couture Anna Maier lace gown from Gabriella NY which fit like a glove! The blush lining under the ivory lace was the perfect blend of classic and modern styles. I added my own handmade, cathedral lace trimmed veil and knotted a crystal embellished ribbon belt around my waist.

I knew I had found the perfect photographer when we had our engagement session with the very talented Joshua Aull. He captured Eugene and myself in a way we’d never seen and our wedding day was no exception. He even humored us and snapped some photos of our dog, Myles. Kate Foley of Kate Foley Designs was such a pleasure to work with. The floral arrangements that she designed for us were beautiful, and perfectly sized. Our palette consisted of rich cranberries, indigo and soft pink with gold accents. The best piece Kate engineered was an installation of dripping garden florals over the head table, not to mention she whipped it up in under one week when I decided the ballroom needed one more exciting element! And my bouquet was enchanting with an ombre of colors – my absolute favorite. Everything came together so nicely and in such a romantic way from the gold trimmed place settings by Posh Couture and the mirrored mercury finish on our dance floor to the colorful matryoshka doll escort cards that doubled as party favors for our guests.

It’s hard to look back and try to remember every single detail, because what they say is true – your wedding day really flies by too quickly. But I can certainly say, the advice I was given to try and remember the little moments and leave the other stuff to the photos was some of the best I could have received. The memories I do have from that day are so incredibly special and are moments I will cherish forever… like laughing while attempting to safety pin my husband’s suspenders back together, signing my Hebrew name backwards, my father’s really funny “dad jokes”, changing our choreography mid-dance and best of all looking into my husband’s eyes for the first time after exchanging our rings.

Romantic Ashton Gardens Wedding

This wedding day right here? It brought me back to my very own. Not for the similar peachy blush palette or air of romantic elegance, but for the ear-to-ear grins of anticipation, the hold-me-tight first look kisses, the we-just-got-married! giggles and the moments when you feel like you’re the only two in the room. Those bits are what make up a truly special day (and let’s face it, a pretty tablescape never hurt anyone). Mint Photography captured it all, here in THE VAULT.

From Mint PhotographyThis might just be one of our favorite weddings of 2015! Ashley and Alex are such a beautiful and memorizing couple. from the moment we met them, It was easy to see how head over heels in love they were. Ashley has incredible style and it showed throughout her wedding details. The atmosphere felt upscale and romantic while still having an understated elegance to it. From Jenny McCann… I have a gorgeous set of images to share with you. Marissa and Cory recently eloped this year in May. They were excited about having post wedding photos taken and loved this modern Spanish concept we came up with. Inspiration for the styling came from Spanish mission style which is very earthy and minimalist. It has a way of looking both modern and rustic at the same time. With this in mind, we chose the historic Joe T Garcia as our lush Spanish backdrop. Marissa wore an earth-tone Alberta Feretti gown made of silk chiffon fabric with pleating all over. I hope you enjoy these photos and see something a bit unique in them too!

Modern Austin Garden Party Wedding

This is the kind of wedding that makes you want to kick off your heels and pour a festive glass o’ bubbly. It’s just that fun. 36th Street Events designed a day that’s one part modern and one part classic with no shortage of color thanks to Verbena Floral Design. Black and white stripe lovers – consider this your lucky day and follow me to the full  gallery by Jen Dillender.

From The Bride…We met shortly after Joe relocated to Washington, DC to pursue a job opportunity as a landscape architect. We shared a love of football, and enjoyed cheering on our favorite NFL team, the New Orleans Saints.

Joe proposed on November 17, 2013, two years into our courtship. The night before we had gone to a friends wedding in downtown D.C. The next morning Joe took our goldendoodle Arabi on her morning walk while I stayed in bed. On this particular morning, Joe decided to put a T-shirt on Arabi with a photo of a diamond ring and the text “will you marry my daddy?”. After the proposal, we went to one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants where we met up with 20 of our closets friends and family to toast our engagement.

When looking at wedding venues, we knew we wanted something different. We considered getting married in DC, but decided on Austin because to its laid-back atmosphere. Additionally, my family was from Austin, and the city was like a second home to me. After looking at a number of venues, we fell in love with The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria because of the breathtaking grounds and gorgeous views of Lake Austin. A private residence built in 1916, Laguna Gloria was converted into an art gallery in the 1960s. The design of the villa and surrounding grounds was inspired by the original owners’ trip to Lake Como, Italy. We knew it was just the place to achieve the upscale, outdoor, garden party feel we wanted for our wedding reception.

We were married on May 8, 2015. Though the day began with a few showers, the rain stopped and the clouds parted just in time for us to walk down the aisle as man and wife. The day was everything that I could hoped for and more!

Elegant Southern Farm Wedding in Texas

To say that Pomp & Circumstance planned one ah-mazing fête would be putting it lightly. Because not only is it a day infused with southern flair, but as evident through 31 Films – it’s also got glamour that goes for days. From the silhouette favor station, to the late night popsicle stand, every detail is downright enviable. And thanks to Mustard Seed Photography you can see it all in The Vault!

From Mustard Seed PhotographyThis summer, I photographed sweet Katherine and her groom Cory at a fabulous Texas farm called Chandelier Grove. The bride, an Auburn girl, and Corey, an Alabama rival – infused every inch of their glamorous wedding with unique organic southern touches! From their custom monogram etched into the mirror behind their cake, to their head table made from reclaimed farm wood covered by a gorgeous floral hydrangea garland runner and paired with tufted loveseat for the couple to sit at! Above the table, stunning vintage chandeliers hanging from the re-built Canadian barn that is Chandelier Grove (their venue and one of the prettiest in the Houston area)! Best of all – a “Silhouette Station” where an artist was on the spot to cut handmade silhouette’s of guests (to take with them as a wedding favor). They also brought a little bit of Alabama to Texas by bringing Steel City Pops in to cater a late night snack with a popsicle stand for guests to enjoy!

Perhaps one of my favorite parts of their wedding was how they incorporated a bit of their Auburn/Alabama rivalry into the wedding by including pictures from their engagement session (where they are each wearing their beloved jerseys) around the Groom’s cake, among with two calligraphy prints that said “War Eagle” and “Roll Tide”. It was the perfect touch to bring this sweet couple’s love story straight to the wedding! Have fun browsing through a few photos from their wedding and enjoy reading this little snippet straight from the bride herself about her big day (below)!

From The Bride…My desire for our wedding was for guests to walk into the venue and feel that same peace and joy that I have always felt throughout my relationship with Cory. Our relationship has been very organic, and our love has felt so incredibly pure and never forced or fake. Because of this, I chose to use all white flowers with touches of organic greenery. We got married outside among the tall pecan trees, with a twelve foot wooden cross covered in florals at the end of the aisle.

Cory and I have both been blessed with a great group of friends, which was the reason for our very large 30-person wedding party. I wanted each groomsmen and bridesmaid to feel just as important as the next, which is why I chose to have one long head table that sat in the very middle of the venue. This head table was made of reclaimed wood farm tables, and one long piece of hydrangea garland. The flowers were one of the most important, and fun things to me about the design process. Although I wanted the wedding to have an organic, peaceful feel… I also wanted the wedding to represent the classy, glamorous South. By bringing in chandeliers and all gold accents I felt that the atmosphere perfectly represented just that!

When thinking of something fun for the guests to take part in at the reception, I wanted to do something different than the typical photo booth. I had the idea to do a “Silhouette Station”. We hired a Silhouette artist named Cindi Rose who was able to cut silhouettes of our guests in around two minutes. I created a seating area for Cindi with an old reclaimed mantle I brought from home and two tufted chairs. Cindi was incredibly talented, and the silhouettes served as a fun party favor for the guests to take home and always have as a memory.

Another element I wanted to include was something that would be unique to Cory’s Birmingham background. One of our favorite places in Birmingham is a popsicle shop named Steel City Pops. I was able to have a popsicle stand brought in from their newest Dallas location to take the place of a “late night” snack. Steel City Pops served four of our favorite flavors, and they were a hit from the children at the wedding to the grandparents — we even ate them in our send off car.

Lastly, I couldn’t get married without incorporating our Auburn/Alabama rivalry. Part of our engagement pictures included Cory and I wearing an Alabama and Auburn jersey, and these pictures were placed around his groom’s cake, along with two calligraphy prints that said “War Eagle” and “Roll Tide”. Everything ran so incredibly smoothly on our wedding day, from the makeup and hair in the morning to dancing away with the band at night, and it was truly the BEST day of our lives.

Classic Southern Wedding

A sweet + sophisticated wedding in the exact spot you became engaged sounds like the perfect place to say “I do” – and for this darling duo, it was seriously beautiful, too.  Think lush florals from Bella Flora Of Dallas, breathtaking captures from Sarah Kate and a classic meets Southern style that will make your heart happy.  Head to The Vault for every fab moment, then stay awhile for even more traditional lovely.

From the Bride… Gregory asked me to marry him in a beautiful little park next to an old Southern-style home in Dallas, Texas. From the day he proposed, we wanted nothing more than to cherish each moment of the engagement. We made the intention for the months to come to be full of joy and love. Yet once we began wedding planning, we found the infinite number of options a little overwhelming. We immediately decided to keep things simple and make our decisions based on what just feels… right. Simple means something different for everyone – for us it meant a sweet and romantic ceremony in the park where Gregory proposed and a big ole party in the Southern-style home next door, all with a classic and timeless style.

We are incredibly grateful for so many people that made February 21st, 2015 exactly what we wanted: a day full of joy and love. The amazing team of creators that made our wedding happen clearly put so much heart into their work. There are many beautiful moments that we often look back upon, but the memory we cherish most was right before we were pronounced husband and wife. As Gregory and I held hands, surrounded by the sweetest and most supportive friends and family, Reverend McKellar recited The Prayer of Saint Francis. It was the perfect way to enter the covenant of marriage.

Enchanted Rock Engagement Session in Texas

This darling duo met while studying geology in college, and fell in love during a six week summer field course in the great outdoors. It’s only natural then, that after getting engaged at Enchanted Rock, they return to where they began with an all-organic outdoor engagement shoot, captured effortlessly by Dana Fernandez. Take a peek at the gallery here!

From The Bride…Blake and I studied Geology together in college and we initially fell for each other over our summer field camp course, where we spent six weeks hiking around Utah and Montana mapping the geology. We spent evenings under the stars and around camp fires never wanting to end our conversations. Five years later, Blake proposed at Enchanted rock and it could not have been a better spot! Because we really appreciated getting away from everything while at field camp, getting to start a new chapter together on the top of a granite dome without any distractions was beyond perfect for us! We knew that we wanted to take our engagement pictures at enchanted rock not only because we got engaged there, but also because being outside surrounded by nature was where we began.

Over the last several years, Blake and I were based in different countries, I was in Ukraine while Blake was in Uganda. We were blessed to be able to travel a little bit to meet each other and were excited to use our souvenirs from our travels in our engagement pictures. We had a picnic on our favorite Moroccan rug and ate off of our Turkish olive wood platters. Everything from our engagement shoot had significance and we loved getting to tie our memories all together.

Elegant + Romantic Houston Garden Wedding

I can’t decide what I like most about this wedding—the sweet watercolor invitations, the precious flower girls and ring bearers, the pretty wedding cake, the gorgeous River Oaks Garden Club or the crazy-in-love Bride and Groom. Luckily I don’t have to decide, because the photos from Mint Photography are totally pin-worthy. See them all here.

From Mint PhotographyThis gorgeous affair took place at the insanely beautiful River Oaks Garden Club. The detailing of the venue alone makes for one jaw-dropping event. Kayley and Clayton designed their wedding off the beauty and garden style feel of the venue. Delicate touches of pinks and green hues were applied throughout the details of their day giving the event a soft, romantic, and garden-inspired feel. The majority of the wedding was held outdoors, in multiple garden areas throughout the property.

Intimate + Romantic Dallas Spring Wedding

As soon as I saw this gorgeous Bride’s bouquet, I knew I would love the rest of her wedding, and I definitely do. The soft gray and blush color palette, the unique geometric floral arrangements and the classic cake from Sugar Bee Sweets Bakery (with a hidden Iron Man logo for the Groom!), this Spring wedding, captured by Ben Q Photography, is completely lovely. See all the pretty in the gallery.

From Ben Q PhotographyLindsey and Trent had the sweetest Texas Spring wedding. We loved their laid back style. The wedding felt intimate and was all about gathering their closest family and friends. They kept their colors light and airy with light greys and warm pastel floral. The reception was held at a winery and had a romantic vibe. Trent is an Iron Man competitor so we loved how they snuck in the logo behind the wedding cake but visible to their guests in the mirror behind! The reception felt like a gathering of friends and family instead of a stuffy event with indoor and outdoor spaces for connecting.

Ethereal and elegant with a wonderfully organic vibe, this bridal inspiration caught on film by Matt And Julie Weddings with styling by Lindsey Brunk is just pure magic. And those perfectly imperfect florals from Bows And Arrows? There are no words. See the entire shoot here.

From Matt And Julie WeddingsOur inspiration for this shoot was a casual, laid back summer bride but keeping her modern and on trend. Lindsey Brunk styled our bride in an unexpected two piece ensemble by Theia. The slimline crepe skirt was perfectly complimented by an embellished crop top featuring an ethereal cape. We love that the cape gives the movement and feel that a veil usually does, without being traditional and a lot more unexpected. Tracy Melton created a beautifully natural look with soft bronzey, sunkissed makeup and a lived-in, textured fishtail braid. Andi Jameson (Bows and Arrows) created a bouquet that looks lush yet could have been freshly foraged. We visited a Nature Preserve in Plano, TX for an organic, summer backdrop.

From Loft Photography LLCPatti was raised in Wimberley, Alex grew up in Houston and Dallas, so they knew they wanted to have a central Texas wedding. The laid back couple hosted family and friends at one of Austin’s newest wedding venues for a scenic ceremony overlooking the Texas hill country. Their biggest goal was to have fun, and make the wedding as enjoyable for their guests as it was for them. They combined all the best things they liked from past weddings attended, like serving cocktails before the ceremony and having a real band play music they love rather than a traditional wedding band. Alex’s favorite color is blue so it was incorporated throughout the table settings and wedding attire, including unique blue ties for each of his groomsmen. Guests were treated to an intimate dinner on the patio followed by live music and an open dance floor under oak trees and Italian lights. They kept things simple, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for their friends to celebrate with them.

Sophisticated + Chic Summer Wedding at Eilan Hotel + Spa

Did we just step into the French Riviera? Maybe Cannes? Because that is the sort of movie star glamorous vibe we have radiating from this summer wedding at the super chic Eilan Hotel + Spa in San Antonio. Mint Photography captured every gorgeous detail, from the BHLDN dress to the delicious dessert by Jennicakes; feel like a part of the posh paparazzi with these picture perfect moments right this way!

From Mint Photography… Lauren and Sam’s beautiful event took place at Eilan Resort and Spa. The couple and wedding planner’s inspiration came from the grounds of the property. Eilan is a new luxury destination with a grand and glamorous atmosphere, which Lauren and Sam found very appealing. The bride wanted to play off the colors on the property. Neutral tones and light pink hues were found throughout the wedding decor and details, while using the bold architecture of Eilan as a complement to the upscale vibe the couple wanted to achieve. The ceremony took place on a balcony overlooking the beautiful villas and unique architecture on the property. A custom program sign was designed in calligraphy for guests to view as they entered the event. During cocktail hour guests mingled outdoors while listening to a live saxophonist and enjoying cocktails. Guests were also given organic honey in jars as a keepsake. The day was followed by an evening of dancing in a romantically lit ballroom with friends and family. Their day was romantic, luxurious with a very chic look.

Dreamy + Romantic Dallas Garden Wedding in Shades of Pink

This wedding and I, well, it was love at first sight. It started the second I saw the abundance of florals—the Bride’s demure bouquet of blush pink peonies, the twin flower girls’ pink jasmine flower crowns and the whimsical rose, tulip and dogwood centerpieces. And when I saw how in love the couple was, my fate was sealed. Seal yours and see all the beauty from Apryl Ann Photography in the gallery.

Will You Be My Groomsman + Gift Ideas

Fellas, it’s time to go shopping because we’ve got the goods on what to get your groomsmen. It’s a creative package that’ll have your guys grinning and geared to celebrate. From the vintage cigar boxes filled with custom bottle openers, to the little libations added in, Dana Fernandez Photography captured it all in a gallery that’ll have you gifting the ultimate honor.

From The Groom… When I started thinking about whom I envision standing next to me when I get to marry my beautiful fiancée, Ashley, I knew that I wanted to ask my groomsmen and ushers in a fun and creative way. I began looking into different things I could do that they would appreciate and enjoy. The goal was to set the tone not only for the wedding itself, but also for the process leading up to the wedding. My goal is for them to have the time of their lives as they help me to prepare for my journey with my wife-to-be. Ashley and I started by going to Manready Mercantile; a place I knew I could find masculine and unique “goods.” While there, I found really cool decks of cards as wells as toothpicks soaked in flavors such as “Six-year-old barrel aged Kentucky straight bourbon” and “Single Malt Scotch.” I also found natural soap with scents like “Bay Rum” and “Cedar Citrus,” and wax-dipped whiskey glasses. Included with these were little bags and stickers with the Manready logo. As I was checking out, Ashley along with the one of the owners thought of the idea to present these groomsmen gifts in Cigar boxes filled with a shredded Wall Street Journal. The owner scrounged up some unused cigar boxes from the closet, and Ashley and I left with a great start to what would become by groomsmen invitation. I added to the box custom bottle openers with each groomsmen’s name and position (Groomsmen/Usher), a book entitled “Stuff Every Man Should Know,” a shooter of Gentleman Jack, and a hand written card formally asking each person to be a part of my wedding party. I enjoyed putting this together for some of the most important guys in my life and I look forward to celebrating our wedding with them by my side.

Traditional + Elegant Fort Worth Wedding with a Twist

This Texas wedding is what traditional Southern wedding dreams are made of. From the Bride’s delicate lace bodice for the church ceremony to the traditional chocolate Groom’s cake, this affair, captured by Something Gold Photography, is just full of Southern charm. And the reception venue’s industrial vibe adds just the right touch of modern elegance. See it all here.

From The Bride…Martin and I met in 2011 during our senior year at Oklahoma State University. After graduation, he got a job in Oklahoma City and I in Dallas, so we then survived (or as I prefer to think of it, “flourished”) through three years of long distance dating. We chose Fort Worth for our wedding because I am originally from a nearby suburb and he is from a town in southern Oklahoma, so it was a convenient proximity for our large families and was everything we were looking for.

Our ceremony took place downtown at the First United Methodist Church, which is my favorite church in the city, and our reception was a mile-and-a-half away at 809 at Vickery – an indoor/outdoor, industrial-meets-elegance venue with plenty of room for our 370 guests. Guests were seated both inside and outside for dinner, and then everyone eventually migrated outside to the dance floor once our band got the party started. The weather was possibly the biggest miracle of the day. The tornado sirens went off on Friday night during our rehearsal dinner, however, Saturday was the most perfect day that we could have asked for. We danced the night away in perfect 75-degree weather under cloudless skies with our favorite people in the world – it truly was a dream. It’s almost impossible to put into words the sheer joy, love and happiness that we felt on our wedding day, and we could not be more thankful for our incredible family, friends and vendors for making our celebration everything we could have hoped for and more.
