Rocky Creek Engagement Session

I want to take a twirl in this feathery dress. Don’t you? It was the second detail that made me fall head over heels for this engagement session captured by Dana Fernandez Photography. But the first? Most definitely the undeniable love these two have for each other and how sweet they are in every. single. snap. THE VAULT holds all the proof.

From Dana Fernandez PhotographyWhen Taylor and Carter chose one of my favorite locations in Houston, I knew it was going to be an amazing session as its almost impossible to take a bad photo with the beautiful rocks and creek flowing! To make it even better, they showed up with Carter wearing a dapper suit and Taylor in a gorgeous white feather (she LOVES feathers) dress by Erin Fetherston! We lucked out with a gorgeous sunset and had a blast navigating the rough terrain, but so glad we did as their engagements came out beautifully!

HGTV’s Fixer Upper Couple Chip + Joanna’s Anniversary Party!

My favorite HGTV show Fixer Upper is such an inspiration to my husband and I as we make our new house a home. But when season three kicked off this month, it also delivered the sweetest dose of love in the form of this surprise 12th anniversary brunch Chip threw for Joanna. From the blooms hand-picked by their adorable kiddos to Chip’s heart-melting speech, it was a day that embraced the true meaning of marriage. Thanks to our darling friend Rachel Whyte who captured it all so beautifully, this inspiring duo is pulling at our heartstrings today. See more in THE VAULT and head to SMP Living for our most-loved Fixer Upper home designs!

From Joanna GainesMy husband, Chip, never gets away with pulling off surprising me. Ever. He always puts in a valiant effort only for me to catch on and unintentionally squash his fun. For our twelfth anniversary, Chip wanted to change that once and for all, so he orchestrated this entire beautiful, thoughtful and well put-together surprise party. When asked if I was “actually surprised” I simply point out my outfit (a t-shirt and jeans) to prove that I was most definitely surprised!

The setting was perfect—an unfinished barn on our farm, which happened to be right in the middle of being transformed into a garage and storage space. It was special because, though the space was unfinished, it was a perfect representation of the two of us and the work we love doing together: construction and renovating homes.

Chip had a local caterer and friend come in and curate a brunch menu of homemade biscuits and jam, frittatas, a parfait bar and fresh coffee and juices. A close friend of mine took care of the table settings, opting to use mismatched flatware, chairs, dishes and linen napkins. The simple fresh flowers arrangements were made (with some help) by my kiddos, using various vases from my kitchen cupboard. The flowers themselves were actually picked from my garden, and supplemented with flowers and greenery from a local florist.

Chip really did his research in finding out that the three symbols for a 12th anniversary are linen, silk and pearls. He wanted these symbols to really be represented in our celebration, so he had cards made explaining the symbols at each place setting; where each napkin was linen and each card was tied with silk string. To represent pearls, he surprised me with a beautiful pearl necklace made by the same jeweler who crafted my wedding ring on our engagement 13 years ago. It was such a special and meaningful gift.

The party itself was so intimate with just family and close friends in attendance. Chip stood up and read the sweetest speech and there was also live music played by a dear friend of ours. I tried to book him 12 years ago for our wedding, but he wasn’t available on our date, so it made this detail even more meaningful. He sang some of our favorite songs including the song I walked down the aisle to in our wedding. Everyone enjoyed the food, fellowship and music together. All the details and meaning behind this party really touched me, and when I think back to that sweet day Chip surprised me I feel so loved and honored to be his!

From The Bride…October 22, 2015 was the most amazing day of my life, a day I’ll never forget: my wedding day. Was my wedding the exact wedding I had dreamed of my entire childhood, through my teenage years and even as an adult? Were the wedding bells ringing as I took the proverbial walk down the aisle, my tuxedoed father at my side? Were the bridesmaids in beautiful dresses, the groomsmen looking fit for GQ, with the wedding party anxiously watching every minute of the ceremony? NO. Not even close. No aisle, no bridesmaids, no groomsmen, no bells. And I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

On that very rainy afternoon, my husband and I were married at the Tarrant County courthouse in Fort Worth, TX. Our only audience was the Justice of the Peace who married us, and our lovely photographer Bethany Wilson. In this elegant and historic courthouse, I made vows to the love of my life in what was the most intimate wedding ceremony I’ve ever witnessed. It was an elopement of sorts. All of our family lives in Utah or on the East Coast. They knew we were getting married, but we wanted to share that special moment distraction free. No cake, no dancing, no being pulled in 100 directions, no drama. As we exchanged vows, we were able to gaze into each other’s eyes, truly focus on the promises we were making and simply enjoy and live in the moment. It was perfect.

My husband and I are from Utah. He transferred to Dallas for work and we knew we wanted to get married in the place we would be starting our new life together. Not knowing a single soul in the area, we turned to the one source we knew we could count on- Social Media. We searched dozens of hashtags (yes they actually come in handy) on Facebook, Twitter and most of all Instagram. We were able to find the most talented photographer who not only took photos of us that day, but also did an engagement session. She was a trooper to say the least. She braved the cold and rain to get some amazing shots that day.She even helped me with my hair for the wedding! Bethany shoots a lot of her photos using actual film-you know like the way people took photos 100 years ago. Her unique style makes for the most breathtaking pictures.

We were also able to find the best florist in Dallas, hands down- The Backyard Bouquet, Lauren Clinkscales. She made the most gorgeous wedding bouquet and boutonniere, using only local flowers from farms and gardens in the DFW. She even took time out of her day to deliver the flowers right to me. We couldn’t have found the most perfect duo for flowers and photos. My wedding day was the best day of my life. It was simple. It was real. It was honest. It was beautiful.

From Bethany Erin PhotographyWhen Crystal first contacted me about photographing her elopement wedding I was immediately excited. I had recently done a styled shoot with an elopement theme because I wanted to show brides that simple elopements can be photographed beautifully, and that even if you decide to skip out on a big wedding, you don’t have to miss out on beautiful wedding photographs. I immediately shared my preferred vendor list with her, but she told me she had already chosen everyone. I had never heard of the florist that she chose, The Backyard Bouquet, but when I visited her instagram account I was immediately excited again because her work was beautiful, and I knew Crystal’s wedding aesthetic was something I would love to photograph.

We emailed back and forth over the next few weeks about their choice of hotel, where we would take their portraits, little details that she could add to make her day even more special and the timeline for the day. When the week of October 22 arrived, however, I was pretty heartbroken when the forecast predicted rain. I came armed with a pretty umbrella, but was truly hoping that we wouldn’t need it. For the first half of the day while we were in the hotel photographing details and bridal boudoir, the rain held off. However, as we began our short walk from, The Worthington to the historic Tarrant County Courthouse, drops began to fall as I captured a few shots of the couple walking down the charming sidewalks of downtown Fort Worth. Whenever we emerged from the courthouse after the ceremony we were met with a torrential downpour, and we had to wait it out on the courthouse steps. We were now faced with the decision of whether to travel to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden or whether to stay downtown and do photos whenever the rain passed. Ultimately, Crystal made the call to stick with the original plan of traveling to the Botanic Garden, and when we arrived we still sat, hoping that the rain would end in enough time to allow us to get some pretty photos. However, the opposite occurred as the heavens seemed to empty endless showers on this sweet couple’s wedding day. I asked Crystal and Jacob if they were open to holding the umbrella and letting me get a few shots of them in the rain, and then if they would like more photos in the future we could schedule a bride and groom session then. Thankfully, they were more than happy to huddle under an umbrella and be romantic while I stood in the rain juggling a manual focus medium format film camera and an umbrella. I could not be more pleased with the real, honest photos that we captured in the midst of a rainstorm. I think that is truly what wedding photography is about, capturing the reality of each couple’s day, embracing the unexpected and finding the beauty that chooses to reveal itself in each moment, because sometimes clouds have silver linings, and sometimes raindrops do.

Whimsical Fall Inspiration Session in Enchanted Rock State Park

Typically, flowers are associated with springtime, but this fall inspiration session with the most beautiful autumn blooms will make you think otherwise. Flower Shack Blooms worked absolute floral magic with the stunning flower crown and the lush bouquet. And when set against a naturally beautiful backdrop, lovely lace gown and dramatic hair and makeup, they really pop. See it all from Chandra’s Collection Photography in THE VAULT!

From Flower Shack BloomsThis was a gorgeous whimsical fall shoot complete with a lush bouquet and floral crown. We went for a bolder look of plum lips with soft romantic hairstyle. We used chocolate and burgundy accents to bring out the fall look in floral choices. Hellerbores, dahlias, amnesia roses and blushing bride proteas are a few goodies that were used. A gorgeous lace gown complete with the ever so lovely Texas light made this a magical set up.

Southwestern Style Wedding in Dripping Springs, Texas

In the words of the Bride, “The style was simple and natural with a subtle Southwestern flair.” Loosely inspired by a Mexican fiesta theme, the couple opted for an outdoor celebration at Camp Lucy with succulents and papel picados woven in through the details. Loft Photography didn’t miss a beat, and your Friday is about to get a whole lot happier thanks to THE VAULT.

From Loft PhotographyWhat’s not to love about an adorable couple, their gorgeous wedding party, Alyssa’s Monique Lhuillier gown, a tented lawn reception, the prettiest table decor…we could go on and on! Every detail of this charming Hill Country celebration was perfectly thought out and beautiful.

From The Bride…The style was simple and natural with a subtle Southwestern flair. I knew I wanted succulents and papel picados from the very beginning but didn’t want to have an overwhelming “fiesta” theme. My family and I always took trips to Mexico growing up and I fell in love with the desert landscape of Cabo. When Scott and I began dating he started to come along and I fell in love with him and Mexico even more. The cream and blush color palette mirrored a more abstract idea of a Mexico elopement.

Classic Villa Inspired Wedding at The Bell Tower on 34th

After years of dating long distance, these two tied the knot in an understated, chic celebration at the gorgeous Bell Tower on 34th. This Houston hotspot looks straight out of Europe, which coincidentally, is where these cuties got engaged. Becca Lea captured it all, from this venue I can’t stop obsessing over to the Bride’s beautiful dress. See it all in our VAULT right here!

They make the most of their time together and are completely in love! Harrison proposed to Jenny in Paris, the city of love, which also couldn’t be more fitting for them.

SMP Blogger Bride: Livvyland Shares How to Get the Perfect Mistletoe Photo

’Tis the season to cozy up to the one you love and create what we like to call a sweet little “#SMPMistletoeMoments.” There’s just something about the holidays that makes you want to fall in love all over again and relish in the precious moments that the season seems to bring about…and over at my blog Livvyland, I couldn’t help but want to take part in sharing some of those special moments, too!

Truth be told, when I thought about snapping a bunch of pictures under mistletoe, my heart jumped for joy. Clearly, I go mush for all things romantic and cheesy (honestly, I live for this stuff…give me a Matthew McConaughey rom-com any day!). However, my fiancé Blake was not as easy to convince! But after a few minutes of wooing him with, “oh darling, you get to KISS me…repeatedly!” (and yes, you should most definitely use that line, too), let’s just say it didn’t take long before he was on board – ha! He’s a major sport for bearing with me as I dive deeper into the blogosphere as it is, let alone agree to being photographed while smooching under mistletoe!

[dotted]

How to create the perfect “kissing under the mistletoe” photo in 5 easy steps

ONE | Get your man or gal on board – I’ll admit, my sentiment above is actually quite convincing

TWO | Pick a pretty setting or backdrop

THREE | Scoop up mistletoe (real or faux)

FOUR | Grab a photographer

FIVE | Most importantly, get excited to kiss someone you completely adore and have fun with it!
[dotted]

Blake and I asked our good friend and amazing professional photographer, Kayla Snell, to snap our mistletoe moments. It was nice to get all sappy around someone we knew because it made for a more comfortable experience. It also doesn’t hurt that half the time you’re staring into your best friends eyes for lengthy moments at a time…which immediately causes your heart to melt and makes you feel like it’s just you and him in the room (hey, speaking from experience over here!).

We chose to snap our pictures at Villa Del Lago, a stunning wedding venue that overlooks beautiful Lake Travis in Austin (which is actually where we’ll be saying “I do” in September!). From the gorgeous trees, to the jaw dropping lakefront view and an incredible home on the property (that doorframe?! SO pretty!), it was the perfect place to spotlight this romantic holiday ritual.

As for the mistletoe, I ventured to Michaels and DIY’d by cutting the faux mistletoe plant down and piecing a few branches together with twine and topped it off with a pretty red bow. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out!

Alright gals and guys, that’s a wrap! If you’re looking to create your own mistletoe moment, my biggest piece of advice is to have a blast with it! After all, how often do you get to capture that treasured moment when you look longingly into your darlings eyes and plant a big ‘ol kiss on him or her? Soak in the holiday cheer and don’t forget, as Sinatra said, “It’s that time of year when the world falls in love…”
…And cue Frank Sinatra, “Oh by gosh by golly, it’s time for mistletoe and holly…and folks stealin’ a kiss or two as they whisper Merry Christmas to you…”

From the Bride… After months of planning a year long travel adventure around the world with my brother and a few friends, Robert conveniently interceded. February 2014 was my tentative departure date and in January I decided that the year long travel adventure could be put on hold, because he was worth waiting back for. I am so thankful I stayed!

We met at a mutual friend’s lake house over Memorial Weekend, both surprised we hadn’t met each other sooner. I had announced at the lake that a friend and I were going to hike to the Guadalupe mountains and needed some company. A few days after meeting at the lake, I got a call from Robert saying he wanted to join us on the hike. Our first group date consisted of 14 hour car ride to and from the Guadalupe mountains. We always tell each other we both knew that if we could hold an interesting conversation for 14+ hours on our first “date,” the odds were in our favor. We spent the weekend hiking, talking, drinking wine at sunset, cooking burgers on a portable stove, and two-stepping at the top of Texas.

So many things I love about Robert; his laugh and sense of humor, his wisdom, his love for family, his loyalty, his positivity is contagious, his faithfulness, his ambition and dedication, his sense of adventure, his curiosity, and most of all the way he loves me. I could not have possibly asked for a man who effortlessly loves me every single day of his life. I am so excited for this new chapter in life and so very thankful you have chosen me to be your wife. I am excited to take on the challenges of life with you by my side.

From the Groom… After two long years of working in New York, I made the decision to move back to Texas – it was the best decision I ever made. I met Kelcey for the first time at the Daigle’s lake house during a Memorial Day weekend getaway with a few friends. I introduced myself and attempted to charm her with a well-thought out pickup line about how her beautiful necklace matched her inner beauty – it didn’t work. A couple weeks went by and we all went back to the Daigle’s for their 4th of July weekend party. After failing several times to impress her / get her attention, I decided to go to extreme measures and pull out the only card I had left. If not executed perfectly, my chances would be shot. Needless to say, my 2-steppin moves were executed to perfection and the rest is history. The last two years have been the best of my life. Kelcey is truly the kindest, most caring, and loving person I have ever met in my life. She makes me want to be a better person every day that I’m with her. I can’t wait to love and treat her right for the rest of our lives.

From the Bride… Right after we were engaged, we took a leap and moved to NYC for Robert’s job. Nothing like moving over 3,000 miles away to plan a wedding (not to mention I planned the entire wedding on my own). I have always had a passion for planning and organizing events (I plan large corporate events for Deloitte for a living) – my taste is very eclectic and “mismatched.” I wanted Robert and my personalities to shine through every detail of the wedding.

Our linens were my most favorite! I chose three separate linens each with a bold pattern, my favorite being one with pom pom flowers that that were attached to the linen (still in the neutral family), however it definitely gave the room character. I also used blue and white antique vases for our florals accompanied by candelabras which I have always loved. I love how candelabras can add so much to a room – they are so royal and classic. I feel like many weddings get lost in the “everything needs to match” category – but I completely disagree! The more patterns and more colors the better. As you’ll see, my maid of honor, Abby wore a different dress than the other bridesmaids. I thought this would be a really fun thing to do and would add color and texture to the photos.

My favorite moment (other than breaking it down on the dance floor) was standing at the altar with Robert listening to the words that were being spoken by his brother (his brother married us). We have been to so many weddings and I think the words kind of float in and out of your ears – but when it is your own wedding, the words are being spoken for the two of us together – the words then become so much more powerful and emotional. Although it all happened so fast, I could feel God’s presence in that moment. Looking at all the people in the pews that had traveled near and far were there to support Robert and I in our new life together was truly remarkable.

WE LOVE CAKE. I feel like we chose very interesting flavors but everyone seemed to love the change of pace from standard vanilla and chocolate. Robert loves cowboy boots and Texas (I can’t stress that enough) so naturally we designed his cake to tailor to both TCU cowboy boots and a Texas flag. The boots were made out of rice crispies. Mine were banana chocolate chip and Robert’s were lemon with fresh raspberries.

My dress – oh I felt like a princess wearing it! I knew I wanted a dress that was different and had an open back. I had tried on many that had a plain open back, but I loved this particular dress because of the flowers and design that was sewn into the open back of the dress. I loved the illusion neckline – I think it is flawless and gives a different yet classic look to brides. I knew I wanted my hair to be funky (I always wear my hair up in a top knot and teased of course, i’m from Texas duh!) so I wanted a fun high neck dress that would look “cool” with my hair. Not sure any bride has ever chosen their dress based on their hair vision – but yep for me it happened!

My only piece of advice is let the love between the bride and groom outshine all the details. Although details are nice, looking back at our wedding video and seeing all of the love and laughter from that day, it was so much more important than the flowers on the table. Robert absolutely was the most important detail the day we were married.

Intimate + Colorful Outdoor Wedding at Gage Hotel

We’ve seen plenty of rustic elegant affairs but what about one with a stylish Southwestern twist? Not exactly sure what that means? Then just continue on as we dive full force into Jessica Scott’s pics of this colorful celebration at the Gage Hotel. With an amazing floral crown for the Bride and smiles all around, it has all of us aching for some Texas love. More in the VAULT right this way!

From Jessica Scott Photography… Kelsey and Ben’s intimate wedding at the Gage Hotel in Marathon, TX was the perfect combination of Southwestern elegance. Every detail of their wedding was so dreamy and well thought out – from their invitation suite to the reception decor and venue.

Kelsey and Ben wanted their day to be a relaxed celebration of their love, and that’s exactly what they accomplished. They served cocktails before their beautiful outdoor ceremony, inviting the guests to enjoy themselves from the very start. The florals the Gage Hotel created for the wedding party, ceremony and reception made this wedding all the more stunning with the mixture of soft and bright tones. Every event took place outdoors in intimate environments which made this wedding feel almost like a backyard wedding in the best way possible.

I was so incredibly inspired while capturing Kelsey and Ben’s wedding. Watching them celebrate with friends and family among the gorgeous venue, under the vibrant starts of Marathon, TX was such a beautiful thing to witness. I captured their wedding completely on film to bring out the gorgeous tones and true beauty of their day and I couldn’t be happier with how these images turned out.

All in all, Kelsey and Ben’s day was pure perfection. I’m so honored I got to be a part of it!

Bohemian Texas Garden Wedding

Look at this bride’s face! That, my friends, is pure joy, excitement and adorable style all rolled into one. Becoming Mr and Mrs at the gorgeous Elmwood Gardens, this boho beauty was absolutely glowing, surrounded by her family and friends and of course, her new hubby. Krystle Akin and The McKellars captured all the love and laughter, making our VAULT the place to be – come on in!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/138195093 600 338]

From Krystle AkinWhat an absolutely beautiful, magical wedding this was. Shelby and Zachary had been dating for pretty much forever since they met in middle school, and their bated breath excitement to finally be tying the knot was palpable. Their first look was full of such tenderness even with the rain chances and the umbrellas near by the entire time, and their ceremony, surrounded by lush flowers and happy people, was a reflection of their personalities. Set in the East Texas garden of Elmwood gardens they wanted the laid back boho feel. The vows they wrote for each other were thoughtful and sweet and made a perfect foundation for their highlights montage, featuring both High Definition and some vintage Super 8 film plus film photographs.

Elegant + Romantic At Home Texas Wedding

Well by golly, I’m in a fabulous mood today, and no, it’s not just because pumpkin pie is on the horizon. It’s all due to the absolutely adorable love between these two right here. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get better than this; dapper Groom and beautiful, beaming Bride at an elegant-meets-down-home-Texas affair. Our VAULT is looking good thanks to Magnolia Adam’s Photography; see it all this way!

From the Bride… Being able to host our closest family and friends for our ceremony, overlooking the lake, and then dinner beneath a tent, both in the backyard of my parents home, October 3rd truly was our dream. We wanted everyone to be comfortable, and to enjoy a casual Texas evening – as most of our guests were from Chicago and both the East and West coasts. We chose a color palette that felt like us (navy and pinks, primarily) and added sympathetic touches, such as farm tables, lots of greenery and books borrowed from my dad’s law library to add some height and dimension to tabletop arrangements. All of our vendors worked so flawlessly together and to top it off, we had an incredible day of weather – which worked out well as we never came up with a plan B for rain :)

Adam and I met online – I saw him and thought he was handsome, so I chatted him up. It didn’t take long for us to set a first date – dinner on a chilly November Sunday night, which led to drinks, a first kiss, the setting of a second date and we’ve been pretty inseparable ever since. I knew I loved Adam from the moment we met, and luckily he was smitten with me too.

Adam enlisted one of my best friends, on her own wedding shower day, to get me to a beautiful garden in downtown Chicago. I thought he was taking our dog, Poppy, to the suburbs and then golfing, but when I walked into the Lurie Gardens and saw him standing across the walkway, I immediately knew the day had become infinitely more special. He made me laugh, made me cry, gave me a gorgeous ring and then, after all that, surprised me with both of our families waiting at our apartment. His family had come in from the suburbs, and mine had flown in from New York, Dallas and Austin to celebrate – we had a fantastic dinner and then continued celebrations with our closest friends at a champagne bar called Pops! for Champagne into the wee hours – it couldn’t have been more perfect.

I’d like to think our wedding was full of traditions – some new and some very old!
Kiddush Cup: The cup from which we drank during our wedding pre-dates WWI, and my family shared it with us to use and keep, so we can pass it on for future events.
A Family Style Meal: Since we were married at the home where I grew up, we wanted people to feel like a part of our family, so we decided to have the meal served family-style. I think this encouraged our guests who weren’t old friends to make some new ones, and certainly reminded me of childhood dinner at our family table.
Chuppah: My dad constructed the chuppah under which we were married, and my mom hand-crafted the chuppah cloth. While the beams have come down, the cloth is something we plan to keep and hopefully display – and if ever someone wants to use it, wouldn’t that be the biggest honor?
Camp Yale on Display: For the last 7 – 8 years we’ve referred to my parents house as Camp Yale, something one of my sister’s friends came up with, and then just stuck! On our wedding invitations, we included Camp Yale as the location, and my parents really went all out to welcome our guests – they had a really fun stencil made, and used it to create a ‘Camp Yale’ sign that hangs from a tree at the top of the driveway to greet everyone. They also surprised all of us with CY t-shirts for the wedding party – definitely a fun keepsake!

While it would be nearly impossible to choose just one favorite part of our wedding, I have such a vivid memory of dancing with Adam on the ledge of the pool, outside the tent. He met me just after I changed into a party dress to finish the night, and it felt like something that was very ‘us’. We didn’t have a lot of quiet time away from everyone, as so many people suggest (mostly because it was too hard to break away from the fun), so this was a spontaneous way to have our own time without missing the party.

Our palette was mostly navy, light pinks, and quiet touches of gold, green and white. A few years ago I read that navy was the “new neutral” and that was pure music to my ears, as it is one of my favorite colors. That said, we wanted to showcase the beauty of the landscape, simply complement the venue, so light pinks, greens and whites seemed quite obvious. I am a bit bias, but I think we had a stunning view of the lake, and so we didn’t go overboard on florals or additional design. We chose farm tables and wooden chairs to match the style of my parents home, and we actually used many antique tables my parents have for the cake, gifts and seating chart, etc. When we were deciding on tablescapes, there was some discussion around books – my Dad offered some of his old law library books in place of staged items from the florist, which I loved because those are something I’ve grown up seeing, so it was cool to have them on display.

No, there is nothing I’d have done differently! I am sure I could make a laundry list of small tweaks and changes, but in all honesty, the day was such a dream that I’d hate to have it happen any other way.

My advice: make a list of what’s important to you, and ask your groom to do the same, and then make sure you do those things. Recognize the importance of traditions, but also consider making your own – you never know who might pick up your ideas and carry them forward, traditions have to be started somewhere, after all!

From Magnolia Adam’s Photography… What a dream to photograph Emily and Adam’s wedding! Emily and I were sorority sisters, so when she was in town, we met up for coffee and talked about the possibility of me capturing the day for them. They flew me to Chicago where I was able to photograph their engagements, a place that is home to them to make their images sentimental. Driving down to Camp Yale was so fun, and we were welcomed with open arms. I loved all the details that Emily had chosen for the day and we felt like a part of the family, which was perfect considering the entire wedding carried that vibe.

Romantic Texas Hill Country Engagement Session

If this was the beauty surrounding my family home, I don’t think I’d ever leave… and so it’s no surprise that these childhood sweethearts decided to have their engagement shoot right there. Captured by Anne Marie Photography, we not only get a glimpse into their adorable love for one another, but some super pretty eye candy as well – see it all in our VAULT right this way!

From Anne Marie PhotographyJillian and Tanner watched each other grow up. After meeting in kindergarten, they began dating in middle school, and after college, they both moved back to New Braunfels, TX where they grew up. Tanner works for his family business and Jillian helps to manage and style a local boutique called Lot 59. Individually and as a couple they share a love for authentic and natural style. This is exactly why they chose Tanner’s family property for their engagement session. The hills and trees on the property give a very romantic and natural feel to the photos. They picked clothes that reflected their personalities, Tanner the all-American boy and Jillian, more of a bohemian prep.

Let’s go ahead and say that this bouquet is going to be a new all-time favorite. Designed by The Southern Table, it beautifully sets the tone for the entire color-packed celebration from the tables to the cake, and every little detail in between. Charla Storey snapped up all the goodies and Events By Kristin planned the entire event you’ll find inside THE VAULT.

From Events By KristinKatie and Jason were married at the beautiful Oak Knoll Ranch on a perfect Texas day. Katie is from Pittsburgh while Jason is from Louisiana. They met on the dance floor during a dance-off in Dallas, Texas and the rest is history.

The ceremony took place outdoors overlooking the beautiful ranch before guests headed inside for an amazing meal from Gil’s Catering. IDT kept the dance floor packed the entire evening. It was an amazing day filled with love, dancing and laughter.

Blogger Bride: LivvyLand Bridesmaids’ Gifts

Olivia here from LivvyLand, and of the many special moments leading up to a wedding is the anticipated gesture of asking loved ones to be a part of your bridal party. This is an opportunity where you can express your appreciation – and do so in a way that represents your personality. As for me? I’m a major coffee fanatic and wanted to incorporate my love for caffeine into a gift set!

Years back, I received the perfect card from a friend that said, “Coffee with friends is just a long way to say “therapy”, and this absolutely rings true in my life! While yes, coffee itself is delicious and most definitely gives me wings to conquer the day, it’s really the part about being with friends or family and the conversations that come with “meeting for coffee” that I enjoy most of all. So, for all you java lovers out there, here’s my bridesmaid gift idea for coffee enthusiasts!

After perusing all things bridesmaid related on Pinterest for months, I finally came across the customizable “Will you be my bridesmaid?” mugs by April Heather Art and knew this would be the perfect way to ask my bridal party! Heather, the artist and shop owner, is just as fabulous as her incredible online store, so it was a seamless process in selecting the appropriate hair colors to match myself, my bridesmaids, maid of honor and bridesman. She also custom made the “Will you be my bridesman?” mug for this gift set – so now it’s officially on the site and you can ask your GBF (gay best friend) or man-friend in the cutest way, too! I love that these mugs not only feature gorgeous fashion illustrations, but also ask each person by name to be a part of the big day – it’s those little details that make these mugs so exceptional!

I started following For Such A Time Designs by Aly Nickerson on Instagram and instantly fell in love with her hand stamped spoons and gravitated towards her spirit and personality in each photo she posts. This gal is so creative, genuine and sweet, not to mention her spoons and flatware are to die for, especially when paired with the custom mugs. Aly also included hand stamped bags for each person in my bridal party – I am in love the added personal touch that they bring to the gift set!

After I had the spoon and mug duo idea in my head, I reached out to my friend and talented calligrapher, Allison Hembd of Exquisite Squid to create the lovely handwritten “I Love You a Latte” cards. How cute are these?! That adorable saying on pretty, pastel pink cardstock really topped off the gift set! Allison also makes custom calligraphy invitations and really anything wedding related when it comes to paper goods, so I was particularly excited to work with her again. As for the mini coffee bags, given that I’m in Austin, Texas, I knew I had to include some sort of “Texas” flavored coffee. I scooped up the little bags at World Market, they have such a great coffee selection!

My goal was to make each person in my bridal party feel extra special and loved with a gift that’s representative of me and often my time spent with each of them. And hey, an extra supply of coffee is always a good idea, right? Now it’s time to pass these pretties out and clink our coffee mugs in celebration!

Elegant Fall Plantation Wedding

Plantation weddings are just so southern classic and cozy. I’ve never officially attended one as a guest, but I can say I’ve lived vicariously through these beauties, and today we’re adding another to that pretty list thanks to Mint Photography. Dotted with navy and blush and a sweeping Watters gown, it’s just the right combo of traditional elegance. There’s more right this way in THE VAULT!

From Mint PhotographyThis sweet couple tied the knot on a beautiful fall day at the Plantation House. We loved Katie’s Watters gown – traditional yet trendy with the sheer fabric and flowing layers. Their style overall was elegant and understated and the day was full of laughs and fun with their outgoing and gorgeous bridal party! We snuck away for some sunset photos during the reception as well and this venue definitely hosts one of the prettiest sunsets we’ve seen in awhile! We just loved everything about this day.

Romantic Spanish Moss Engagement Session

It only takes one sight of Spanish moss to fall fully in love with its beauty, so when I caught the first glimpse of this engagement shoot by Mint Photography, I was sold. The magical moss casts a romantic glow about everything it overlooks, including these two sweethearts – more in our VAULT right this way!

From Mint Photography… We’re obsessed with the location this sweet couple chose for their engagement session! The sun shines through the spanish moss trees and creates the most whimsical images! We love the look they chose for their outfits as that it perfectly complimented the natural setting but kept it classy and elegant as well!

Classy + Glitzy Winter Wedding in Texas

Megan and Jake’s wedding has officially stolen our wedding loving hearts. A classic, absolutely glamorous, big ‘ol fashioned party overflowing with unbelievable elegance crafted by Something To Celebrate, Lauren Carrillo. It’s really no wonder we’re downright obsessed, and thanks to captures from , Morgan Lynn Photography you’ll find us in THE VAULT.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/118783568 600 338]

From The Bride…My husband and I met when we both started classes at the University of Texas for our MBA degrees. We spent the first semester as friends and study partners but a romance quickly developed and the rest is history! He comes from a town where everyone knows each other, and I come from a large Polish/Czech family, so these groups combined with our prior college friends and the mutual friends we made in grad school created a very large wedding guest list – about 300 people attended!

Although I definitely was not the girl who had been planning her wedding since her Barbie doll days, I did find myself gravitating toward a few consistent themes during the planning process: classic, glamorous and a big ‘ol fashioned party. I started telling vendors that my vision was “Ralph Lauren glamorous” and that seemed to click for everyone! We landed on navy, gold and white, with a touch of greenery, as our core colors. One of my favorite uses of this palette was for our invitations, where we strayed from the traditional eggshell-colored paper and went with gold foil-pressed wording on a bold navy background.

Our rehearsal dinner at the classic Houston staple, Brennan’s, set the tone for the night to follow – lots of libations plus delicious food, funny speeches, and warm embraces from friends and family who came from all over the country to support us. And of course, Brennan’s famous banana’s foster for dessert!

The church for our ceremony is over 100 years old, and its dramatic columns and high gaping ceiling are breathtaking on their own, but with the romantic candles lit all the way down the aisle alongside each pew, it was even more magical on our big day. The ceremony took place at 7pm in the evening, which meant we had plenty of time to get ready, though we didn’t do a first look and instead spent the prep time without our Bridesmaids and Groomsmen. One of the most sentimental moments of the getting-ready process was preparing my bridal bouquet for the aisle – it was wrapped in a handkerchief made out of pieces of my mother’s and two grandmothers’ original wedding gowns. Jake and I did exchange notes and gifts, brought to our respective rooms by members of the wedding party, and that was the only time I cried all day! The ceremony itself was a traditional Catholic wedding, but not a full mass. Seeing Jake’s face when the doors to the aisle opened is something I’ll never forget!

Our black-tie optional reception at the Crystal Ballroom was a blast, and it truly looked like a CRYSTAL ballroom with the centerpieces dripping in crystal atop navy or gold table linens. Jake and I love to travel, so instead of a traditional guestbook, guests signed a “guest globe” which was next to various photos labeled with the locations of all our travels. Now, instead of having a guest book rotting away in an attic somewhere, we have a gorgeous globe with the signatures of all our loved ones sitting in our living room as decor – it’s a great talking piece!

We danced all night to the best music from our band, Doppelganger, while the guests enjoyed custom rolled cigars and wearing fun dance floor props like light-up cowboy hats and Mardi-Gras masks (since Jake is from Louisiana and our wedding was during that time of year). My favorite part of the night was at the end when our videographer surprised the guests and played our Same Day Edit video on a big screen — it captured the whole day of events like a movie trailer in which we were the stars of the show! At the end, our band followed us from the upstairs ballroom down the staircase and through the crowd of guests blowing bubbles and wishing us farewell. Our wedding was truly the most fun we’ve ever had.

My best advice for brides-to-be? Planning can be overwhelming and people will exhaust you with their opinions, etiquette rules, and advice. At the end of the day, what makes YOU and YOUR SPOUSE happy is all that matters. When we had trouble narrowing down the most important criteria for us to achieve our ‘ideal’ wedding, it helped to reverse the questions: “What would we regret about our wedding day if we decided _____?” For me, a desire to get married in a church was a sentiment that became crystal clear this way; I felt a tug on my heartstrings when I thought about saying “I do” at an alternative location, so that was that – a church ceremony – one decision down! Other advice? Hire a coordinator and get a hydra-facial the day before the wedding.
