This Intimate Wedding Had One Very Special Guest: A Donkey!

I’m just going to come out and say it, this couple planned one major celebration. Because not only did they have one crazy stylish bridal party, but their surprise guest? May or may not have been a few adorable donkeys. That’s right, so you can only imagine that we’ve got more stylish surprises from Kerry Jeanne Photography in store for you via The Vault!

From The Bride…We always envisioned our wedding to be outdoors. Growing up in the Philippines and coming from simple families, we spent a majority of our time outdoors enjoying anything from parks, beaches, and even our backyards. There is something about being and connecting outdoors away from the hustle and bustle of society. In addition, our frequent trips to Austin and its surroundings made us realize this is where we wanted our wedding to be. Le San Michele, which is in the city of Buda is just 20 minutes from Austin, played a perfect host as it had everything we hoped to have and more. Driving through the gates and onto a gravel filled driveway led us to house which represented simple old world charm. Having an expansive lawn, ample greenery which included a myriad of flowers and trees, and intricate chandeliers hanging within the branches had us imagining what our day would be like from the minute we walked out of the French doors and into the vastness of the vicinity. The only thing left to do at that moment was book our day and hope for great weather.

Having come from very tight knit families we always knew that we wanted our wedding to revolve around the theme of bonds. We involved our family members to help us in every aspect of the wedding so that when it came to the big day they would feel a sense of pride knowing they contributed to a successful event. Till this day, we are still so appreciative of our family as they supported us from the beginning to the end without hesitation. For instance, Ralph’s uncle officiated the ceremony, which turned out to be very heartfelt and full of humor. Monica’s eldest sister and Ralph’ sister in law were the wedding coordinators. To sum it up everyone from both sides of our families played a role.

As for our guests, they traveled as far as Houston, Seattle, Portland, San Diego, New York City, Alberta, Minnesota, Philippines and even the Czech Republic. Keeping with the theme of our wedding, we invited those who truly saw our relationship develop throughout the years. Our story is a little out if the ordinary. Monica came from a military family that moves around. Ralph was raised in Houston TX a majority of his life, but both somehow found each other in their freshman year of college in the Philippines 7 years back. Our family, friends and former classmates were able to see us grow as individuals and as a couple. With everyone so close to us being so spread out across the world, we felt so much gratitude to those who came to share this day with us.

One thing we really wanted for our wedding was for our guests to feel at ease. We ensured this by preparing lawn games during cocktail hour. Children and adults could be seen enjoying themselves in a round of corn hole and crochet. Passed Hors d’oeuvres were prepared by the awesome Catering With a Twist. Cocktails and beer on tap kept the guests mingling, and to top it off we brought two miniature burros for the children to play with. They also made for a great picture opportunity. After cocktail hour, everyone made their way to the stoned patio, found their seats under the hanging garden lights and Catering with a Twist delighted us again with an amazing dinner. We had the best seats in the house as we were able to see everyone’s faces smiling, conversing, and enjoying the music. After the formalities, we were treated to a night of incredible music prepared by Toast Entertainment. Hips were moving, legs were shuffling, and hands were nae naeying. It was picture perfect, and we are so thankful to have Kerry Jeanne capture it all. We still find ourselves in awe at how amazing the pictures came out.

Realizing that everything turned out to be exactly what we wanted , all we can be is thankful to those who were involved. Our wedding was a night to remember not only because of the amazing venue or the serene atmosphere but because it was full of love. Love from our guests and love for each other. We believe that we belong to each other, and it transpired throughout our wedding night.

A Fresh Take on An Industrial Wedding With Serious Pops of Color

I’m never surprised when a graphic designer becomes a bride and her wedding is AMAZING. There’s something about a designer’s knack for aesthetics that always translates to pretty and this day is certainly no exception. It’s a fresh take on the industrial chic style with unexpected moments like ghost chairs for the win. Go see the rehearsal dinner in the gallery, along with every capture by Michelle Boyd.

From Michelle Boyd PhotographyTaylor and Adam were married on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the historic Hotel Emma in San Antonio. (The hotel building was originally The Pearl Brewery’s Brewhouse, which was built in 1894.) Taylor and Adam have special ties to the hotel because both Adam and the bride’s father contributed to its construction.

For the overall design of the space, we drew inspiration directly from the hotel, which combines old world elegance, and a mix of industrial and modern touches. We brought in luxe, patterned linens from La Tavola and ghost chairs for dining. Sprout designed lush florals (seriously, those bouquets!) which added pops of soft, pretty color throughout the space.

The bride is an incredibly talented graphic designer, and she designed all of the paper goods for the day, which included an illustration of the landmark hotel that they love. (Not to mention letterpress for days, gold edge painting, wax seals, and Frou Frou ribbon to bundle each suite together!) Their day-of paper goods also featured modern, acrylic touches.

The hotel itself has a huge culinary emphasis. One of our favorite details from the evening is the gorgeous marble-clad, fully functioning display kitchen, which we flipped three times to use throughout the night: First for sign-in, then for cocktail hour (the chef prepped and served appetizers from this space!), and finally for an incredible dessert display, complete with three cakes and hundreds of assorted pastries.

Following dinner, toasts, and desserts, The Night Owls opened the dance floor and kept everyone dancing (and singing!) until Taylor and Adam’s sparkler departure. After a quick wardrobe change, they joined the after-party where Matthew Rubio with the Flashdance played to a packed room until the early morning.

Working with Taylor and Adam and their families was a dream. They are kind, talented, and so very in love. So thankful for the incredible team behind this day that pulled together to achieve every thoughtful, beautifully executed detail for this sweet couple.

From Rachel Whyte PhotographyRachel and Ford’s wedding was one for the books. Their wedding weekend took place at Camp Waldemar in the Texas Hill Country. The venue was absolutely gorgeous and they were blessed with perfect, Texas fall weather. (Not raining and not blazing hot- that’s a major win!) Rachel and Ford are a class act couple and their wedding was a perfect representation of them. Rachel was a radiant, peaceful bride and Ford’s love for her was so evident.

Their ceremony took place in a beautiful stone amphitheater on the banks of the Guadeloupe River, and they said said their vows under a canopy of trees. The reception was held in a large tent on a field and they danced the night away under the stars. Rachel’s Oscar De La Renta gown and their epic helicopter exit were just two of the stunners of their big day. The happy couple was surrounded by hundreds of their closest friends and family and the weekend was filled with love, laughter and happy tears. It was an honor to be a part of such a special event!

A Chance Encounter Inspired This Bright, Boho Editorial

When Events by Jade encountered a beautiful stranger in a coffee shop, she was immediately struck by the woman’s bohemian, eclectic, whimsical and romantic style. She began wondering, “If I were to design this stranger’s wedding, what would it look like?” With The Vault full of bright, gorgeous photos from Rachel Elaine Photography, that question was answered.

From Events by JadeThe Texas girl in me finds something extraordinary about the combination of a crisp white barn in a setting of vibrant colors. The White Sparrow Barn shines on it’s own, so adding to this radiant space for such an enchanting event was easy. My intent was to create a lovely masterpiece that would bring into focus the beauty of the moment, and when you take a closer look you are in awe of every fine detail.

One day, not too long ago, I met a beautiful woman in a coffee shop. I would describe her style as bohemian and eclectic, with a touch of whimsical romance. We only spoke for about 2 minutes, a fleeting conversation, but she left a lasting impression. There was something very special about her that struck a chord inside my soul. Unbeknownst to her, in those two minutes she inspired me. If I were to create a wedding for her, it would be very similar to the pictures you see today. My goal was to design her a bohemian inspirited wedding with a fresh interpretation.

Rachel from Rachel Elaine Photography and I immediately agreed we wanted eye-catching hues to contrast with the white washed walls of The White Sparrow. Using a color palette of pinks, greens, oranges, and blues opened up a bright infusion of summer. R Love Floral Design used organic, natural flowers and foliage to embody this inspiration.

It was very important to me to fuse both the nature of the surroundings and the additional pieces into a cohesively effortless space. I used a tree on the property to hang a dream catcher seating chart, the vibrant green-grassed space that was made to be sat in, and a tree swing that was calling to be transformed into a cake stand. Clean, simple, native, yet elegant.

I fell in love with the idea of having a loaf of bread on the tables, representing “breaking bread” among friends and family. The word “bohemian” immediately makes me think of a more relaxed and informal sitting, and with that in mind we used a low table for the dessert displays all made by Amuse Bake Shop. I visualized friends and family informally surrounded around the table sharing stories of the bride and groom.

The true beauty in what I do is the friendships I form along the way. Each event is a way for me to take the traits that make my clients truly unique and extraordinary, and create a sitting that expresses all of those attributes for them to enjoy. I had the privilege of working with some of the best in the industry on this shoot. I hope you love these pictures as much as I do.

Pink, Gold, Confetti, Sparkles. Bring on the Girly Wedding Dream.

If you need a little reminding just how fun a pink, gold, confetti, and sparkles can be, let me introduce you to Megan and Louis. This Austin couple fully embraced all of the above for a whimsical garden party wedding with the help of Westcott WeddingsBristol Lane Florals, and Jessica R. Crowell just to name a few. The incredible Sophie Epton photographed, and in our opinion, this is a gallery best viewed with champagne in hand. Cheers, Megan and Louis!

From The Bride…I didn’t know when Louis proposed it was going to open up a world to me, a world where we were not only planning a wedding but also meeting life long friends and securing my roots in Austin, Texas. I’m fairly new to this city and didn’t have a circle yet, and little did I know the journey of planning my wedding would lead me to all of these places! I fell into the wedding planning not really knowing what I was doing but fortunate enough to have crossed paths with the most incredibly talented people who quickly became my dream team.

My first meeting was with Sophie Epton Photography, and from the moment we met I knew she was going to be our photographer. I had done a little research on Sophie and was blown away with her work, and when we started chatting I was as impressed with her down to earth, inviting personality! It felt like we had already been lifelong friends, we had similar visions of what weddings are and what they should look like. I remember her asking me if I was looking into a wedding planner, which I had been. She suggested Ellen from Westcott Weddings, which ironically enough I had a meeting scheduled with the next day! Meeting with Ellen had a similar feeling…she was warm, gracious, and sweet. It felt like I was having a conversation with my best friend about my vision for our wedding. We bonded over our love of sprinkles, glitter and confetti, which to me are the three things that make this world go round! I knew Ellen was going to take my inspiration of a whimsical garden party and make it a reality.

From there, Ellen put me into contact with the rest of the ladies who would become my dream team! Meredith from Bristol Lane did our florals, and her visions and creations are incredible; Meredith’s love for cultivating relationships is what makes her so special, and I knew what she created for me would be extraordinary and perfect for our day. Jessica from J.Ro Cro Arts & Lettering designed the most whimsical invitations and signage. I had spoken with Jessica over the phone for our initial consultation, and a few days later while I was out running errands, I was checking out and handed over my credit card. The cute girl behind the counter looked at the card, looked back up and me and said “Megan? I’m Jessica, I’m doing your invitations. We spoke on the phone!” Basically, what’s behind all of this is each of these women were meant to come into my life, it was meant to be that these were the people I would go on the journey with and I couldn’t have asked for anything or anyone better. When looking for your perfect team of vendors to make your vision a reality, make sure to choose people who you trust. I conveyed my vision to all of them of what I was wanting and then said “do your thing!” That was the best decision I made, and the result was a day that was completely us and completely perfect!

We had a fairly small and intimate wedding celebration…we wanted to be able to look at each guest and give them a specific reason why they were there. We wanted our friends and family to feel as special and as loved as we did! Our wedding was a celebration of them, and we wanted to thank them for the love and support that has built a foundation that Louis and I are able to stand on and start our life together! Louis and I did a first look, which gave us the unique opportunity to see the vision come together! It’s pretty incredible to look over and see the set up of the tables, florals and just see how hard everyone was working to make it special for us.

It’s hard to choose just one favorite moment, because the day came together with so much love and joy that it was impossible not to smile! We were surrounded by people who love and support us, friends who have become family, family who are our friends and feel so honored to have them share in our special day. We are incredibly thankful for a wonderful wedding team who made our dream into a reality and who have become cherished friends.

From Westcott WeddingsFrom the moment I met Megan, I knew I was going to love working with her. She is so kind, genuine, and full of joy. And I think that’s the biggest takeaway I have from both the months we spent planning and her + Louis’s big day–so much joy! Throughout the planning process, I affectionately referred to Megan as my “pink, confetti, and sparkles bride,” and I think we were able to deliver on all three counts for her wedding. Working together, we used a color palette of “elevated pinks and golds” to create a happy, garden atmosphere, perfect for a spring wedding.

She and Louis were married in front of 65 of their closest friends and families, beneath strands of bright floral garlands. From there, guests gathered in the courtyard for drinks and appetizers. We served dinner from the P. Terry’s food truck–a perfect piece of Austin to share with their out-of-town guests! Once guests had grabbed their burgers, they dined together at family style tables outfitted with vintage china, sequin runners, and bright, beautiful blooms under strands of twinkling lights. After dinner we moved inside for dessert (all beautiful, delicious, and dusted with gold glitter!) and dancing.

I’m so thankful to the incredibly talented team who pulled together to make Megan and Louis’s day come together so beautifully! So many congratulations to the happy couple!

This Twist on the First Look Will Bring You Happy Tears

How we feel about this pretty Houston wedding wedding can be summed up in this one photo. Before the ceremony, the beautiful Bride and her handsome Groom prayed together without seeing one another, and as ALLEEJ said, “it was one of the most moving, heart-felt, joy-filled moments I’ve ever had the pleasure to witness and capture.” See each and every heartwarming moment (including a video from Wedding Fanatics) in The Vault!

From ALLEE J….I am overjoyed to share Kaitlyn and Josh Pettitte’s Summer wedding with you! Kaitlyn + Josh are some of the most stunning people I know, from the outside & within. These two have hearts of gold, and their love for each other is so obvious and pure. There was so much about this wedding day that made this easily one of the most special and memorable wedding’s I’ve ever had the privilege to photograph.

The couple chose Ashton Gardens West, the newest AG venue in Houston. The charm of a traditional chapel was the landscape of their ceremony, and a beautiful ballroom was decorated and prepared for the couple to celebrate with family and friends. Kaitlyn wanted very simple elements that were classic, timeless, and elegant, mixed with beautiful, romantic florals from Bramble and Bee that added whimsy and youth. She accomplished this by keeping the ceremony very simple, only decorating with lush florals, candle lighting, and a blooming cross as the focal point. The reception was filled with ivory linen tables, lush florals in the center, and a personal “Thank you” card from the couple at every guests seat.

Kaitlyn kept it classic, having her bridesmaids wear beautiful pink chiffon dresses, and the groomsmen wore gray suits & ties. The groom sported his brand new watch that Kaitlyn gave to him as a wedding day gift, and wore a full suit to separate himself from the groomsmen.

Josh & Kaitlyn are very sentimental people, and wanted to stick to the traditions of a wedding day. The couple prayed together before the ceremony without seeing one another, and it was one of the most moving, heart-felt, joy-filled moments I’ve ever had the pleasure to witness and capture. The love that these two share is so deep, and is filled with redemption and gratitude. For them, this day was a picture of the Lord’s faithfulness to them, and the proof that he hear’s our prayers, know’s our hearts, and give’s us good and precious gifts.

For this couple, their family is of the upmost importance to them. Kaitlyn and Josh’s families have become great friends since the moment the couple were engaged to be married. Family played a big role throughout the day, and during the ceremony the Vinson & Pettitte family came together as one unit to pray for Kaitlyn and Josh’s union in marriage. Throughout the day there was a spirit of gratitude and joy that exuded from both families.

The most memorable moment from the wedding day was when the ceremony began. The Chapel was filled with beautiful natural light, the song “Holy Spirit” played as family and friends walked down the isle. The anticipation grew for the groom to lay his eyes on his bride for the first time that day. When the doors opened, and as Kaitlyn walked towards Josh overwhelming joy overtook Josh and it blessed all of our hearts to witness. His genuine reaction to Kaitlyn was so vulnerable and unashamed. It moved all in attendance, and Kaitlyn has shared that the way he looked at her in that moment was something she would cherish forever, and never forget.

The Pettitte + Vinson wedding day was one in a million. A fairytale of sorts, filled with the most beautiful details, lovely souls, and talented vendor’s who brought Kaitlyn’s dream wedding to life.

A Pink Garden Wedding Straight From the Storybooks

The vision behind this wedding? It’s something we can totally get behind. “We wanted an intimate, laid-back and elegant wedding in a romantic garden…most importantly, we wanted our guests to have fun, eat good food and dance the night away,” said the bride. They flawlessly pulled off all the above, and Mint Photography captured every bit you simply must see.

From Mint PhotographyMichelle and Allen hosted the perfect garden themed wedding on a beautiful spring day for their closest friends and family. Michelle was beyond a stunning bride in her Monique Lhuillier ceremony gown. They incorporated soft delicate colors and florals, fun games and traditions to engage their guests, and their sweet pup Cooper who was the picture perfect prop. River Oaks Garden Club was the perfect setting for their day, it is one of the most enjoyable and beautiful locations we’ve photographed at, and we absolutely loved it!

From The Bride… We wanted an intimate, laid-back and elegant wedding in a romantic garden. We chose decor and furniture that were simple, natural and a little rustic to add some soft touches to our wedding. Most importantly, we wanted our guests to have fun, eat good food and dance the night away.

We decided not to exchange wedding gifts and just wrote each other cards on the morning of. When I went shopping the week before our wedding, I couldn’t resist and picked up a few pairs of socks for Allen and his groomsmen. I decided to personalize it by sewing a heart onto Allen’s sock that said “Love you forever” in pink thread. The fabric I used was the extra fabric cut off from my reception dress.

I couldn’t decide on a hair piece and waited until the day before our wedding to experiment making a floral hair comb. I picked up two bouquets of ranunculus and figured if I can fashion a comb out of it then great! If not, no big deal, I would just go without. The morning of my wedding, my MOH and I managed to make three hair combs for each of us in different sizes while giggling and eating breakfast. It was an unplanned DIY project which turned out to be so fun and memorable. Somehow our floral combs matched the boutonnieres my florist made perfectly and turned out to be such an unexpected surprise!

I woke up on our wedding day feeling overwhelmed with happiness and excitement. It feels surreal that after months of planning and anticipation, our day is finally here. I was at home with only my bridesmaids and our dog. I sat in bed and teared up at the thought that the moment I’ve been waiting for for so long is here and it’s real. Another favorite is walking down to see Allen during our first look. My heart was filled with enormous amount of love and bliss. I still remember the rush of emotions that took over when Allen turned around, my eyes were filled with happy tears.

Advice for future brides/grooms
My advice for other couples is to embrace the unexpected. Don’t lose sight of why you are planning this wedding. At the end of the day, you get to marry your best friend. Nothing should take away from that.

A Blush and Gold Garden-Inspired Wedding Fit for a Spring Princess

This Galveston wedding is so gorgeous, you’d never know there were a few hiccups along the way (including a wardrobe malfunction and flower girl breakdown). But from Laura Hooper Calligraphy‘s wooden signage to the Bride’s pretty pink peep toe pumps to the classic reception, this day is all kinds of pretty. Feel all the love, courtesy of Courtney Leigh Photography, in The Vault!

From The Bride…Peter and I were married on Good Friday, in a little beach town perched precariously on the sand barrier island of Galveston Texas. Galveston is decorated with character and charm. We said our “I do’s” in front of the ones we loved the most in a quaint little chapel called the Lyceum that has weathered hundreds of storms. We were told while venue hunting, that the Lyceum had actually floated off its foundation during a hurricane. The Lyceum was restored to its original location and re-anchored. To us, this symbolizes how marriage can drift off its foundation too but both individuals have to work to reroot the marriage foundation through faith. We were sold. My now husband, is also a complete history buff so it was only fitting that the Hotel Galvez known as the “Queen of the Gulf” caught our eye to host the wedding reception. The Hotel Galvez is a symbol of Galveston’s restoration efforts following the Great Storm of 1900. It is uniquely beautiful, historically rooted, majestically resilient and maybe a little bit haunted.

My Galvy girls and I boarded the trolley to the church, a few wardrobe malfunctions and flower girl break downs later, I was ready to roll. I walked down the aisle with my paternal grandfather’s wedding band attached to my bouquet and married the man of my dreams. After the ceremony, my husband and I were dashing to our get away car and I felt a tug on my veil that sent it whirling around into the sky high above our heads, maybe to serve as a little reminder the man upstairs and my grandpa had a perfect view for our wedding day.

The spring vibes played well in to my garden theme. The floral arrangements were full of fresh blooms, my colors blush and gold colors were light and airy, and the cocktail hour was held on the hotels private lawn called the Oleander Garden. We danced and ate goat cheese lollipops and red velvet cake from my hometown bakery. We laughed, had an anniversary dance off to Last Dance by Floyd Cramer, drank shark bites inspired by our pup Clark, and were whisked away to the Tremont House in a white Rolls Royce cloud. What a whirlwind. It was both romantic and a little bit wild, like the best parties are.

Times of great anticipation also come with times of great sadness. Shortly after setting a date and picking the venue, my mother was diagnosed with Stage III Ovarian Cancer. Looking back now, we embraced wedding planning in efforts to bridge the gap between a great celebration and the harsh reality of surgery, treatments and waiting. Of course, the planning piece came with its share of hiccups, headaches, and an excessive amounts of midnight oil; but it was a labor of love. My creative juices were flowing as the count down grew closer. My inner accountant put the kibosh on a few outrageous ideas. I snapped photos of every detail that inspired me. I think my phone hit its max photo capacity the first few months we were engaged. I drew inspiration from all things wedding; blogs, styled shoots, photography sites, Pinterest, Etsy, letterpress, friends weddings, family heirlooms and traditions, and childhood dreams. Almost a year later, my mother has weathered the cancer storm and is in remission! Ah, it’s been a year of tears, fears, smiles laughs and a whole lot of love. How soon is too soon to do a vow renewal, kidding.

These Children Had the Sweetest Gift for Their Parents’ Wedding

Less than 50 people gathered to witness Melanie and Nathan exchange rings and vows at their heartfelt destination wedding in Texas Hill Country. But the sweet, intimate ceremony wasn’t the only heartwarming moment of the evening. Later, after a delicious meal from Cartewheels Catering, a few of the Bride and Groom’s children sang a song as a wedding gift to their newlywed parents. And thankfully Philip Thomas Photography caught it all for us to enjoy in The Vault!

From Philip Thomas PhotographyA charming destination wedding in the hill country of Texas in a small German town called Fredericksburg. Hoffman Haus is an upscale luxury bed and breakfast with a once tobacco barn in the center of the property that has been restored and now called The Great Hall.

The welcome dinner was catered by Cartewheels Catering who served farm to table cuisine under bistro lights and long tables decorated with herbs down the center of the table.

The guests received a welcome farmer’s basket filled with Peach tea, a locally made candle, marinating sauce, and lavender soap from a nearby farm.

The ceremony near a pond on the property with Melanie and Nathan’s closest family and friends, less than 50 people gathered to see them exchange rings and vows. It was heartfelt, sincere, and emotional.

Cartewheels designed another delicious menu for the reception. Dinner and dancing followed inside The Great Hall with pale blush pink and mint green linens with loosely arranged floral in urns and weaved through driftwood, a common thing found in the Texas Hill Country. Watercolored menu cards and place cards by Rachel Nieman at each place setting.

Melanie and Nathan’s love was so apparent as they were surrounded by their children, a few of whom offered a song as their gift to the newlyweds.

See Why Oatmeal + Terracotta Are This Seasons New ‘IT’ Colors

A new take on neutrals? You bet, and it’s all thanks to Bows And Arrows for hosting the loveliest workshop. Tucked away in the gardens in Dallas layers of blush, camel, and oatmeal come out to play in the prettiest way. With Kayla Barker Fine Art Photography behind the lens, this is one inspiration that you’ll want to bookmark pronto. See it all in The Vault!

From Bows And Arrows … We had the privilege to host a mother-daughter duo of Candelaria Designs in Dallas at the home of Julie Cohn, a fine art jewelry designer, to explore the world of design and aesthetics. We were tucked away in the gardens of Julie’s home and used tones of blush, coral, camel and oatmeal to lay the groundwork of our tablescape. We draped the table in a gorgeous oatmeal La Tavola linen and had a centerpiece overflowing with garden roses, pom dahlia, hellebores, allium, amaranthus, foraged vines, textures and pomegranates. The place cards were written by Lauren Essl of Blue Eye Brown Eye, and all beautifully captured by our dear friend Kayla Barker. We used the natural, botanical elements of the garden to lay an effortless backdrop for our shoot to allow the attendees to explore within their own aesthetic and design to create a concept that was equally elegant, minimal and approachable.

Find the Perfect Reception Dress with Blogger Bride LivvyLand

Hello fellow Brides-to-be! In my numerous months of wedding planning leading up to our Big Day, one of the items on my checklist I’ve had the most fun with is picking out a reception dress. I should also mention that we’re having an outdoor ceremony in Texas which means it will be very hot, so slipping into something breezier will provide quite a relief to me towards the end of the night!

I love the combination of nude and ivory, so this plunging neckline lace dress was a no brainer to add to this list! Not to mention the lace overlay against the nude slip is a beautiful combination worthy of a double-take (…which I assure you’ll receive plenty in this dress!). This particular dress comes in a few other combinations, so if you’re looking for white on white for your big day, that’s available, too.

This high neck lace number is pure magic! The combination of it being a form fitting dress with a high neckline and modest hem make the dress sexy yet classy – it’s a timeless pick and absolutely beautiful in photos. Though there are a ton of little white lace dresses to choose from, this one shines above the rest with the numerous details (did you catch the high-low lace back?) and overall knockout fit. Trust me, you’ll feel absolutely amazing in this dress – and it won’t break the bank!

For the fashion forward bride, I am in LOVE with the idea of wearing a gorgeous jumpsuit in place of a reception dress. Depending on how formal your wedding is, it would even be fun to wear a fabulous white or ivory silk romper and show some leg – definitely a good idea for a summer wedding! Keep you wedding shoes and jewelry as is, and swap your gown for something that allows you to command the dance floor (…can you tell we’ll be a dancing pair at our wedding? Ha!). A jumpsuit is classy, chic and elegant – and this one by Trina Turk gives off that old Hollywood glamour vibe that I adore so much.

If you’ve always envisioned yourself running to the car in your wedding gown, then by all means make that your wedding day reality! That’s the beauty of a wedding – you can make your vision come to life, whether than involves a quick outfit change or not. Given the amount of times we’ll wear white throughout the wedding planning process (think showers, rehearsal dinner, bridesmaid luncheons), you can do no wrong investing in a timeless little white dress!

From The Bride…Kyle and I are high school sweethearts and dated for nine years before getting married. We wanted our wedding day to not only be a celebration of our commitment to one another, but also a time to love on our friends and family who have supported us along the way. For this reason, we deliberately kept it small and formal, which allowed us to offer our guests an evening filled with beautiful, personalized details, delicious food and good music. Surrounded by the people we love (and lots of flowers!), the day felt more intimate and dreamy than we could have ever hoped for.

From Kayla Barker Fine Art PhotographyI was so excited to be a part of Audrey and Kyle’s amazing wedding day. Being that they are high school sweethearts like my husband and I, we connected instantly and you can tell immediately when you are around them that they are soul mates. Even though the guest list for their wedding was more intimate, you could feel the love that everyone shared for the two of them on their wedding day. They were married in the beautiful fireplace room of The Houstonian Hotel surrounded by candles and flowers by Events in Bloom. Audrey’s classic style was reflected in her dress by Augusta Jones, custom invitations and calligraphy done beautifully by MM Ink and letterpressed by Lavender and Mint and their beautiful monogram was used on the napkins and cake. The day was beautifully coordinated by J. Bray Events and it was the most beautifully display of their never ending love for each other.

Every Spring Wedding Trend You Need to Know

Top knot, organic arrangements, marbled moments, rose quartz, embroidered gown, copper details – we could go on, but we’ll let the gallery do the talking. Kate Rose Creative Group has created a day filled with every single wedding trend you need to see this season, Emilie Anne Photography captured it all to share. See it all in The Vault!

From Kate Rose Creative GroupWe love flowers and man, the flowers were over the top! Lush flowers with a gorgeous palette of blushes, creams, and copper tones. Emilie Anne Photography shot the shoot with film and the images turned out gorgeous! We love the simplicity of the white backdrop and the subtle touches of marble. The marbled cake was accented with greenery on the wall, and a soft sequined linen finished the look. With the flowers being the focus, we of course had a flower ring around the bottom of the cake. Speaking of flower rings, we had a seating area with flower wreaths to accent the stunning lounge area, finished off with a cowhide rug and blushed pillows. The dress was a gorgeous dress with blush undertones and the florist killed it with the large, lush, flowy bouquet.

We wanted to incorporate all of our favorite trends in this shoot and we did just that! We love the texture of marble, the soft color palette of the blush and peach tones, with touches of pink and the pop of character that the copper adds.

For the Bride’s look, we went with simplicity for hair and make up, with a simple dress shape, that had detailed lace to die for, along with blush undertones. We really loved how well this look went with the large, over sized, lush bouquet. The bouquet had a lot of movement in it’s shape and we couldn’t have loved it more!

For the groom’s look, we went simple. Sometimes simple is just better. A black and grey bowtie, tied in the look of the shoot. We kept with the traditional black and white attire.

Step Back in Time with This Art Nouveau Inspiration

This inspiration is what I’d like my life to look like – can someone arrange that? If not, I’ll be taking up residence in The Vault until my dreams become reality. Because with the talented Sophie Epton Photography behind the lens snapping up the beauty that is The Contemporary Art Museum At Laguna Gloria, well let’s just say that it’s a gallery fit for daydreams. See it all in The Vault!

From Sophie Epton PhotographyMeghan is a natural beauty inside and out, and when I saw her wedding dress, I was so inspired by the intricate beading and sweeping shapes; I felt like I had stepped into an Art Nouveau film, and immediately knew the art movement would be the inspiration for her bridal! For our backdrop we chose Laguna Gloria, an incredible wedding venue in Austin, Texas built in 1916 to depict an Italian villa. The gorgeous sweeping greenery combined with the architectural stone railings paired perfectly with the ethereal feel of the shoot. Rosehip Flora provided the ideal bouquet of loose, whimsical blooms that worked so well with the color and shape of the dress, and Meghan’s look was finished off with soft but dramatic hair and makeup by Makenzi Laine. Although it was a windy day, the light coming through the greenery and movement created by the wind made for a stunning shoot that depicts a modern-day wedding interpretation of such a great art movement in history.

A Glamorous Ballroom Affair with a Hint of Rustic Style

I knew I was going to love this wedding the moment I read the gorgeous bride’s description.  I mean, a moody, glam, ranch look? She’s speaking my language.  From the golden glitter dotting every table to the cowhide accents to the ghost chairs in a decidedly sweet garden setting, every last moment planned + designed by Bird Dog Wedding is absolute perfection.  Head to THE VAULT for a full day of beautiful images captured by Shaun Menary and prepare to be amazed, my friends.

From the Bride… For me, I needed three things on our wedding day: the perfect planners, the perfect photographer to capture it all, and originality. I knew that I had to have our wedding ceremony at Hotel Saint Cecilia long before I was ever engaged. I’m a lover of design, architecture, and original styles, and this place is filled to the brim. You add to that the most fabulous planners and people in Emily at Bird Dog Wedding and Shaun and Shannon Menary of Shaun Menary photography, and I was set from the beginning. I wanted all my bridesmaids in emerald green, gold, white or black, and I didn’t care which combination. I loved giving them the freedom to show their personalities in the dress they chose. I decided on no bouquets (except for mine of course!) and replaced them with flowers in their hair or flowers tied around their wrists. This way whoever was not at the ceremony would know who my people are the rest of the evening!

We chose to have our reception at the fabulous Hotel Ella featuring Goodall’s restaurant and my favorite hotel bar in Austin, the Parlor Bar. Talk about another design dream of mine. Kat Kinney and her team helped create and plan the best dining and reception experience ever. If you haven’t been, go. Now!

I chose black and white, emerald green, gold, cowhide, deer antlers, lucite, and shearlings to be the main staples of our day. Kind of this moody, glam, ranch look. Is that a thing? (Pinterest helped a lot.) I wanted every thing that we created to speak to the next from the details on our invitation to the place settings and decor. And what better way to make everything pop than with Carly of Margot Blair Florals! Also one of the coolest people I’ve ever had the chance to work with. It was so important to me to have this wedding reflect Brian and me, find ways to be truly original, and have everyone that comes relax and enjoy themselves. Emily and Celeste of Bird Dog Wedding made that a reality!

Looking back I have two favorite things about that day. One was getting ready with my bridesmaids in the suite (as cliché as it is, it’s the truth). Not a worry in the world, listening to records, sipping on chardonnay, taking photos on polaroids I gave them all the night before and just enjoying each other. The other was my bouquet. The floral combination and black ribbon to the floor, I died. Bravo, Carly! Oh also, marrying my husband, obviously.

For planning brides – have people you genuinely like help you plan, photograph, do makeup, do florals, etc. Spend the time to find the RIGHT people that understand you and what you want. There was truly nothing better than having a team of people around me that I trusted completely and that got me. I loved going to every meeting because it meant I got to catch up with each of them and hear about their days! I had a new group of friends after, and that’s pretty special.

She Lost Her Purse at a Concert and the Rest is History

Nine times out of ten, losing your purse at a concert doesn’t end in a happily ever after, but for this lovely bride, it was a moment that led directly to her Prince Charming. [iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/151384223 600 338]

From the Bride… Let’s start with The College Chapter. Jason and I met in college at the University of Georgia. We were both at a concert at the Georgia Theatre and I lost my purse. This was not the first time (or the second or the third…) I had lost my purse and my concerns to my friends were met with little more than an eye roll. Jason was chatting with one of my friends he knew and stepped in and offered his services (Prince Charming). We found the purse in no time (spoiler alert: the bartender had it all along). That summer I studied abroad in Spain. I can now admit that I spent the entire summer thinking about that sweet boy I met in Athens. At the beginning of the next semester, we kept running into each other downtown. After quite a few times hanging out (read: dragging my friends to whichever bar I thought he might be frequenting), he asked me on a date to my favorite restaurant, The Last Resort Grill. That was almost 7 years ago.

We dated the rest of college. Jason was a year older than me and had a job already lined up in Atlanta, GA. I told him that I knew I wanted to move to NYC after college, no question. Jason was able to put in for a transfer and soon we were both working in New York City. Those were some of our favorite years together. After many adventures and lots of exploring, we both came to realize this was more than a college fling. I will never downplay how grateful I am that we had the chance to grow up together at the same time in a place like New York. After much deliberation (and more pro/con lists than you might think possible), Jason decided to move back to Atlanta, GA to join his family business. We spent about a year going back and forth between Atlanta and New York. Jason knew it was going to take a while to get New York out of my system and he never tried to pull me away. Long distance brought a whole new set of challenges and a whole love of travel and skype and we continued to grow together.

After almost three years in New York, I moved into my third apartment. The day after we moved in, amidst the hurricane of boxes everywhere, my roommate woke me up bright and early by handing me an ice coffee and an envelope that read: “Letter #1.” Inside, I found a letter in Jason’s handwriting and I embarked on the most fun game I have ever played–and I had a sneaky suspicion I knew how this was going to end. Very long story, short, I was given 10 envelopes and precise times I was allowed to open them. Letter #1 had the packing list, Letter #2 had a plane ticket, and so on. Eventually I found myself in a car with a driver on the way to a city that looked a little too familiar. Remember where we met, Athens? I was on my way back to our college town. The last letter, #7 ended with “I’m taking you back to where it all began.” As we pulled into Athens, I was about to burst. The driver drove me around all through downtown until we were in front of the Georgia Theater (where the famous lost purse brought us together 6 years before). The marquee above the theatre read, “Where It All Began.” My heart lept out of my skin. I slowly got out of the car and opened the theater doors to find Jason sitting alone on the stage. I remember very little after that. I saw a ring, Jason on his knee, and a lot of tears. Later that night we went to dinner at The Last Resort Grill, where we had our first date. To say I was impressed is an understatement. It still feels like a dream.

Looking back, the night of our wedding seems equally dream like. We always knew we wanted to get married in my hometown, Austin, TX. I am one of the lucky few who actually grew up in the center of Austin and really wanted it to be downtown. We wanted it to be a magical night outside, right in the center of Austin, by the water, under the stars, with lots of dancing and that’s exactly what it was. It was the most fun night and the most perfect way to start our lives together. The days leading up to the wedding night had some of the worst weather Austin has ever seen: tornados and monsooning and it all cleared up just in time to have our perfect wedding. Our families were so supportive and my parents really made our dreams a reality.

A Moody Spring Inspiration Session Full of the Prettiest Seasonal Blooms

As Moss Floral Design says, “the first signs of springs are subtle, yet worthy of celebration — daffodils peeking out of fallen leaves, hyacinths, budding branches.” And this gorgeous inspiration session from the talents of Moss Floral DesignCallie ManionMeggie Francisco Events celebrates that magic perfectly. With a beautiful set up at La Villa Francisca including chairs from Bella Acento and a Anna Campbell wedding dress, this editorial is as pretty as a fresh spring day. Head to The Vault to see it all!

From Callie Manion“Ode To Spring”
The inspiration for this particular shoot began after a reading of Henry David Thoreau’s, “Spring”:

The first sparrow of spring!

The year beginning with younger hope than ever!

The faint silvery warblings
heard over the partially bare and moist fields from
the bluebird, the song sparrow, and the red-wing,
as if the last flakes of winter tinkled as they fell!

We loved the idea of recreating “the first sparrow of spring” and wanted to play with a moodier palate to inspire brides getting married in the springtime, as a nod to the passing season of winter. During this period, tiny buds begin to blossom and grow from dark, moist patches of earth. We played with these colors seen in nature by incorporating touches of lighter pinks and whites amidst the darker palate of deep blues and blacks–emulating the colors of spring emerging from the colors of a passing winter.

We didn’t want to go too literal, but we wanted to incorporate subtle elements that would be a nod to this idea of a spring bride being the first “sparrow of spring”. You can see the bride playing with one single feather in a few portraits; then again that feather will show up at the table setting later; and lastly, we wanted to emulate a bird’s nest with the bride’s up-do hairstyle at the very end.

This inspiration shoot was all about striking the balance between light and dark, and finding the beauty in both. Captured entirely in film, the images show a sense of darkness, but are also soft and feminine. Our aim was to symbolize the beauty of darkness with the inside location; and then highlight the lightness and airiness of spring with the outside location. We hope to speak to a sophisticated bride who enjoys lightness, but also can appreciate the darkness of the transitioning season, and wants to incorporate both into her wedding day–perhaps with an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception.

From Moss Floral DesignThe first signs of springs are subtle, yet worthy of celebration. Daffodils peeking out of fallen leaves, hyacinths, budding branches – these are some first signs of spring that inspired the florals I chose for this shoot. Flowering quince is one of spring’s early bloomers. So I decided to incorporate hints of blooming quince branches in the background. As badly as I wanted to add fluffy peonies and garden roses to the floral arrangements, I wanted to stay true to early spring blooms. Touches of hyacinths, lilac, tulips, and the late winter beauty, hellebore, added a delicacy that early spring emulates. This delicacy was also symbolized by the color palette. I selected peach, lilac purple, and a soft pink to represent the innocence and freshness that early spring brings. This against the moody blue tones highlight new life that follows the dead of winter.

From Meggie Francisco EventsComing from a restaurant background, I’ve always cared very much for how cuisine plays a role in an event experience. When guests gather to celebrate a wedding, they travel from far and wide, they buy a beautiful gift for the couple, and they bring out their best attire–all to share an experience together. While this experience begins at the wedding ceremony, it culminates over the meal as guests trade stories and laughter.

Magdalena’s did an extraordinary job bringing together the flavors of early spring with visual brilliance. The creamy asparagus soup has the tender bright green of new leaves, the oysters are plump and juicy from waters that haven’t yet warmed up, and the lamb chops are beautifully seared. I imagine the conversation would be lively and free-flowing with wedding cuisine like this!

Besides the dinner, one image that lingers in guests’ minds after a beautiful wedding is the blushing bride and her attire. The gown, designed by Anna Campbell, showcases lustrous, intricate pearl beading atop delicate scalloped lace. The substantial beading honors the heavy textures of winter, while the delicate lace hearkens the incoming warmth of spring. The bride’s bouquet, a blend of vibrant early-spring blooms by Adri at Moss floral, is juxtaposed with a hearty velvet ribbon. Hair and makeup guru Quynh Nguyen gave our model a fresh, dewy look and two dynamic hairstyles for ceremony and reception.

An Engagement Story That Proves Timing Is Everything

Emmie and Todd’s love story is proof that timing is everything. For even though these two shared mutual friends, a mutual schedule, and  performed in the same show (!!) it wasn’t until an ordinary night out in Orlando that these two were finally introduced. Soon thereafter they were long distance, dated all over the country, and became engaged and Tracy Enoch captured it all to share in The Vault!

From Tracy EnochAgainst all odds, the way Emmie and Todd met proves that timing is everything! Without realizing or even knowing one another, despite their mutual ties and even performing in the same show, it took both Todd and Emmie being on the complete opposite side of the US to meet. In April 2014, Todd was acting as a band road manager for a musical act that was touring all over the states. Emmie was into her fourth year working in entertainment at Walt Disney World. Todd’s tour took him to Orlando for the week, and through friends, wound up meeting Emmie. It didn’t take long for them to realize how much they had in common, and how it was hard to believe that they hadn’t meet before. After spending time together that one week in Orlando, Emmie was sure Todd would be on to the next city, possibly never to be seen again. Luckily, the two realized they had something special, and began going on dates in many different states! They took turns flying back and forth to see each other and committed to a long distance relationship for a year and a half. Todd, now back in his hometown of Las Vegas, proposed to Emmie on December 3, 2015. He surprised her by taking her to Lake Las Vegas, where a suite with a candlelit pathway covered in rose petals, surrounded by twinkle lights. led to a storybook poem. After reading it aloud, Emmie turned around to find Todd on his knee. To top things off, Todd had arranged for her entire family (and his) to be their to congratulate the newly engaged couple! They plan to be wed in Dallas in April 2017.

From The Bride…Looking back on our wedding day it’s hard to pick a word to describe the day other than joy. We both felt so much joy that the day had FINALLY come after dating for just shy of six years. We both had never-ending smiles all day, truly enjoying our time with all of our friends and family.

Jon and I met our freshman year at Texas A&M University while we were out dancing with friends. We dated all throughout college, so our wedding was a huge reunion for our wedding party and guests, many of home had known each other since we met. Being true Aggies, we played the Aggie War Hymn during our reception and even sang a cappella when the DJ’s music stopped mid-song by accident. Jon proposed while we were on a camping trip in Colorado, so having our ceremony and reception outside somewhere beautiful just made sense to us. Once we saw Camp Comfort we knew that we had found our venue.

The venue…Camp Comfort is a bed and breakfast is located in Comfort, Texas (how cute of a name is that?) nestled in the Hill Country and the perfect mix of rustic, modern, and eclectic. Having our wedding at a B&B also meant that we could stay there with our wedding party both the night before and night of the wedding, which really added to the fun of the weekend. Our time hanging out around the fire pit with our groomsmen and bridesmaids after our rehearsal dinner was one of our favorite memories from the weekend.

The location…We’re both Texans, born and raised, so we loved getting married in a tiny Texas town. Most of our family members arrived in Comfort on Friday for an all-ladies bridal luncheon hosted by my aunts (a tradition in my family). We had our rehearsal dinner at a pizza place just down the street from the venue called Comfort Pizza. Everything is within walking distance in Comfort, so the weekend was laid back and all about spending time with our friends and family who had come in from all over the state. One of our favorite parts about having our wedding in Comfort was the drive out from Austin. We knew that drive would be beautiful for our guests.

The photography…Traci and Kellie at Anne Marie Photography were exactly our style! It was incredible to see how well their photos caught the light and colors of the day. It helped that both of them attended Jon and I’s alma mater, Texas A&M, and were the sweetest people all day. We felt right at home with them and could not have loved our photographers more! Jon and I decided pretty late in the planning process to use a videographer as well. Luckily Bryan with The Bird and The Bear was still available for our wedding date. We LOVED how the wedding video turned out and will always recommend budgeting for a videographer to other couples getting married. Bryan captured the emotions of the day in a way that we couldn’t have imagined.

The details…After we met Brandi with Brandi Hines Events + Design, our wedding coordinator, we knew that her style would be perfect for the day that we were envisioning. She was amazing! We knew that we wanted the feel to be colorful, eclectic, and not too formal. She pulled it off perfectly. We thought through so many small details for the wedding to make everything feel like us. The invitations were letter pressed by Studio 3 Press. Jon and my brother built our wedding backdrop themselves a month before the wedding after I found the perfect macramé hanging. We chose songs for the night by artists that we have seen together live in Austin including Iron and Wine, Of Monsters and Men, and Death Cab for Cutie. Jon and I wrote our own vows and had our guests say “we do” when our pastor asked if they would encourage us in our marriage. We had Bibles passed down from both sides of my family at the small table where Jon and I had our first communion as husband and wife. Our exit included sparklers and riding bicycles down the street and back.

The food…The dessert table was one of my favorite things at the wedding! My mom hunted for vintage cake stands and even had a cake stand custom made with our names and wedding date. The bridal cake from Cynthia at Cakes and More Bakeshop was unique and covered with colorful succulents and flowers. We went with our gut (literally) and chose flavors that we have loved forever, alternating layers of confetti with strawberry cream and strawberry with cream cheese frosting. The groom’s cake was a simple spice cake with cream cheese frosting and greenery lining the bottom. My mom also made her famous chocolate chip cookies and Jon’s aunt made
delicious bite-sized apple pastries.

Cocktail hour and reception…We wanted people to mingle and let loose during the cocktail hour, so we placed a table with chips, queso, salsa, and guacamole in the Social Hall. Meanwhile, the bar was outside near the dance floor and photo booth by Airstream Photo Booth, which kept people up taking photos and dancing. We decided not to do table settings for the reception to keep the feel informal and encourage mingling among our guests. Jon and I wanted to keep things simple with the menu, so offered a mix of heavy appetizers including South Texas cheese steak egg rolls, stuffed mushrooms, mini chalupas, and cilantro chicken empanadas from Anne Marie’s Catering. Our drink options were local craft beer from Austin, margaritas, and sangria. Our head table was under an open wooden structure with lights strung up everywhere. It felt so romantic and fun!

Flowers…I worked at a flower shop in high school, so the flowers were important to me. Brandi knocked it out of the park. I can’t even describe how much I LOVED my bouquet! It was one of my favorite things from the wedding. Brandi made the bouquet look wild, eclectic, and bohemian in a way that I could not have imagined…and it was HUGE! I loved it! The centerpieces were fun and whimsical with succulents, gold accents, and lots of greenery and color.

My look…I wore a Catherine Deane dress for the wedding and a white lace romper for our exit. Both were from BHLDN. My wedding dress was actually one that I found on Pinterest months before we were even engaged! It was the first one that I tried on and just felt like me. I loved the bohemian feel and all of the detail. I kept the rest of my look simple with a headpiece by Justin & Taylor and a veil by Debra Moreland. The only jewelry that I wore was a blue vintage cocktail ring that belonged to my great-grandmother and earrings that Jon gave me as a gift the day of the wedding. I loved how freeing it was to change into the romper and ride off on bicycles for our exit! The girls at Hey Lovely Makeup did the hair and makeup for myself and all of the bridesmaids. They were AMAZING! The bridesmaids all wore black dresses with lace detailing. I could not have been happier with how all of the dresses looked together; it looked like they were curated just for the wedding. We heard from our guests that our wedding was so “us”. You can’t get a better compliment than that! We are still in awe of the love that we felt from our family and friends on our wedding day. It really was an incredible day!
