From the Bride… Once I began thinking about my wedding, I imagined an outdoor event at my parents’ home, where I grew up. I wanted it to feel farmhouse familiar, but with a modern, beautiful twist. We have an outdoor spring on the property, a horse barn, and my dad is a history buff- all elements we wanted to incorporate into our wedding. The day after Adam and I got engaged, I shared this vision with my father and he responded, “Well, I need to go home now and start working.” This statement turned out to be pretty true…he almost worked himself to death and ended up in the hospital a couple of days after the wedding (while we were honeymooning and my parents kept this secret from us and social media for two weeks!). Thankfully he was ok, just pure exhaustion.

We had so many helping hands, from Adam’s brother designing our invitations exactly as I envisioned, to my grandmother hand making our strawberry preserves for our favors, my uncle marrying us, and my brother and cousins shoveling horse manure on the day of the wedding (thanks guys!). My mother is a saint for handling my daily calls and running any and all local errands as I was doing all the planning from St. Petersburg, Florida. My wedding planner, Courtney who is a long time family friend, said this may be the first wedding she has ever planned completely over FaceTime.

The biggest sigh of relief came when the rain held off! This was my biggest worry during planning, especially getting closer to time as it rained every weekend in May and almost flooded our ceremony site. The week of the wedding, there was a 90% chance of rain on Saturday and it poured during our rehearsal, but when I woke up that morning the forecast read sunny with a ZERO percent chance of rain. I couldn’t have been happier. Adam had already text me saying, he couldn’t WAIT to marry me on this beautiful sunny day! It didn’t seem real.

I wanted our color palette to be soft, only blush and neutral tones, and everything natural and organic. Our flowers went along with this design theme with a variety of garden roses, peach peonies, silver dollar and seeded eucalyptus; very woodsy and whimsical arrangements. The florists also designed garlands for the tables of the same varieties. I love that so much had a personal touch to it. We were able to use mostly all local vendors from my very small hometown, every furniture piece came from inside our family home, and my dad built a small bridge and waterfall near our ceremony site. A friend commented that the waterfall was “so good” that the sound was slightly overbearing the ceremony (oops!).
For my gown, I ended up finding it only after a couple of appointments. I wanted something soft and with lace. I liked the illusion necklines and the idea of a statement in the back. When I first tried on my dress, it wasn’t a quick yes. I don’t know why, but this seemed like too big of a decision to make on the spot. My sister-in-law was there and pointed out that it was soft, all over beautiful lace, illusion neckline, and backless. If this wasn’t my dress, then what would be?? I didn’t have an answer for her so I got the dress and couldn’t have been happier. Adam told me it was similar to what he envisioned, but I threw him off with my hair in a braid. I told him I liked to be a little spontaneous. Once I chose the palette, I wanted the bridesmaids to choose dresses that they loved- expressing their own personal style. The guys’ suits were completely picked out by Adam! He travels weekly for work, which added to the difficulty of planning, and was running a little behind on picking these out. He called me one night while he was in NY and said he got a great deal and went ahead and bought them. Just glad he has great taste!

The details were what made our wedding uniquely us. We “gussied up” a friend’s arbor and used as our altar, we had champagne waiting on our guests as there ceremony ended with a sign that said- dinner and dancing up the hill! Fried green tomatoes, a biscuit bar, farm tables with brass candlesticks borrowed from my mom’s family and friends, chandeliers made out of buggy wheels my dad had collected over time, signature drinks and even fish food for the pond… all of these added to the day and atmosphere.

I had a hard time getting Adam to decide on a cake, (ok that’s not true… I had a hard time agreeing with a cake that Adam liked). He wanted a Reddit themed Auburn cake but I didn’t see a feasible way to pull this off. I kept suggesting other ideas that he didn’t want. About a week before the wedding, my planner pointed out we STILL hadn’t decided on a groom’s cake and it was (past) time. Adam showed me an American flag sheet cake, which looked like it could be at a 5 year old’s birthday party, and we ended up compromising on the round flag cake. He has a big heart for America. My planner AND the baker thought it was a joke but I told them that’s what he wanted and I was out of other options. It ended up being really cute with Courtney’s detailed touch of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, popsicles in a cooler, American flag sunglasses, and many pictures of us dressed up in red, white, and blue.

My biggest piece of advice is to remember the bigger picture. Yes, you want your wedding day to be perfect, but preparing for your marriage is more important than what kind of groom’s cake you finally decide on (I promise). Adam said he’d be happy to marry me in the courthouse any day, any time; and on stressful days, I started to consider that option…. but I wouldn’t have changed a thing. It was our perfect day!

Rustic-Organic Farm Wedding Inspiration

This is the kind of wedding inspiration that makes me skip with happiness to my computer each morning. An unfussy vibe, neutral palette paired with just the right amount of subtle hues here and there and completely organic at heart. Basically, it’d be the jumping off point if I had a wedding do-over. So, thank you Julie PaisleyFirefly EventsSouthern EventsDesigns In Paper and team, for crafting it all—we’ll be pinning every bit in THE VAULT!

From Firefly EventsNestled among the tallest hills in Williamson County, Trinity View Farm is an exquisite venue with undeniable European influence. When you round the final turn up the long driveway and first see the so-called barn, every visitor feels transported out of Tennessee and onto a picturesque Italian hilltop boasting panoramic views. The only thing it lacks are the olive groves that inspired this shoot.

Katie and Josh, our real life, newly married model couple, shone against the rustic but elegant backdrop and textured, modern florals. Firefly Events crafted each understated detail to create a bigger picture that would inspire an earthy setting of romance and thoughtfulness.

We used greenery paired with neutral, earth toned garden roses for the florals. Our favorite detail is the sourdough loaf set at each place setting accompanied by hand poured olive oil favors. Olives, with their varying sizes and hues, inspired the color scheme and atmosphere. The whitewashed brick and dark wood features of Trinity View Farm set a warm backdrop for the elegant dress, jewelry, cuisine, and paper goods. We hope this shoot speaks to you and inspires a welcoming atmosphere for your event.

Rustic Elegant Fall Wedding At Cedarwood

When it comes to weddings, there are some factors out of our control and Mother Nature is one of them. But impending rain doesn’t mean smiles turned upside down, and this gorgeous Bride is the perfect example for taking stormy skies with a grain of salt. Cedarwood Weddings are pros at handling anything and a few drops here and there are nothing to fret over. Kelsey Combe and Little Josh Productions captured it all, from the Designs In Paper creations that set the scene and the beautiful bridesmaids in Jenny Yoo to the sparkler send off. See it all in our VAULT this way!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/141729246 600 338]

From Kelsey Combe Photography… Cedarwood was a dream come true. When I got the call from a dear family friend to shoot her wedding in Nashville, a destination location for me, I jumped for joy at the opportunity. The ladies of Cedarwood are extraordinary. They take the visions of brides and they RUN with it. They turn childhood dreams into reality and then some. Everything was so carefully styled, so curated, no detail left undone. And rain? Who cares. Cedarwood will provide the umbrellas and even change the schedule around to accommodate being able to hold an outdoor ceremony. And when it rains anyway, they will help everyone put up their umbrellas and enjoy the view.

And then, let me just gush about the bride, Carey, for a moment. She was in a stunning, perfect, intricate Vera Wang gown. Her hair was perfectly done – her makeup simple and lovely. And that girl just didn’t care that it was raining. During the ceremony, she happily laughed as the rain fell. She embraced the day and made sure the weather didn’t control her. By the end of the night, the bottom of the dress was caked in a layer of dark Nashville dust – but it was the best worn dress and happiest bride I’ve ever seen.

From the Bride… Kyle and I met at Vanderbilt University after locking eyes at a mutual friend’s dinner party. While he hails from the suburbs of Louisville and I grew up in Boston proper, we were immediately drawn to each other and found ourselves staying up until the early hours of the morning watching CMT while Kyle sang questionably into my ear. Upon graduation, Kyle moved to Boston for law school, and I excitedly joined him a year later. Chicago called to Kyle post law school and I again followed him.

While we love each city we have lived in and shared together, Nashville was ultimately the city where we met and fell in love, and the city that still holds a big part of our hearts. So with that easy choice out of the way, it was time to select a venue. Both of us grew up camping and experiencing the outdoors, so we wanted to include an element of that in our wedding day. When we saw Cedarwood for the first time, we were both blown away. We loved the rolling hills, the at-home feel, and how each corner afforded a new vantage point. Once the venue and date were selected, it was time to pick a photographer, a videographer and a band. Each of these held significant importance to us so we researched for months to ensure we were exhausting our options and finding the ones that we knew would capture who we were as a couple. The videographer came first – Josh Curd of Little Josh Productions. We met him while in Nashville and we knew right away he was the one for us. He is friendly, relatable, hard-working and passionate about what he does. The band came next. Lovers of Texas Country and Classic Rock, we wanted a band that could play a variety of classics but we had a few songs on our “must play” list and one more complicated requirement that held us up a bit – a fiddle player (“If you’re gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle on the band,” right?). We eventually found Edsel West and they were everything we wanted – a little bit of country, a little bit of rock and roll and a lot of fun.

The photographer was the hardest part for us (read: me). I had a very specific look I was going for and was looking up every Nashville photographer I could find. The whole time, however, I had a very specific person in mind whose style I was trying to emulate. Ultimately, I realized – why am I not asking her to see if she’s willing to travel to Nashville? Not only is Kelsey Combe one of the most talented and breath-taking photographers I have laid eyes on, but she just so happens to be someone I grew up with in our small, close-knit summer community in Northern Michigan, and I loved the connection that was able to bring to our Nashville wedding. Kelsey was almost, if not just, as excited as we were about this newfound professional relationship and as you can see from the photographs, we could not have picked a better, more professional or more genuine photographer. What a team we created!

The day of our wedding was a magical, mystical, and misty day. Cedarwood went above and beyond to bring our dreams to fruition. Being in the interior design business, I was meticulous about little details and didn’t want anything overlooked. Details I thought may be missed, Cedarwood caught. Colors, textures, and scents were mixed together to create an absolute dream day. Dressed in Vera Wang with my hair and makeup done by Toni Ann Christian Moss, I finally felt like the woman who was about to become Mrs. Elder in a few short hours.

Rain sprinkled our ceremony and then splattered our dinner, but everyone danced on, embracing the beautiful backdrop under a white tent and twinkle lights and everything Mother Nature created for us. Friends and family came from all over, with no more than two guests local to Nashville. We were eager to show our guests the city we had fallen in love with and Cedarwood was the perfect place to encapsulate the Southern charm we love so much. The team at Cedarwood cannot be exceeded. From the white golf umbrellas on hand for rain, to the ease and flow of the day, the Cedarwood team knows what they are doing and they do it with excellence. My mother, sister and I did not feel an ounce of stress that day and that would not have been the case without the team we had created behind us. Thank you to everyone who made our day what it was. It was the best way we could imagine celebrating our new life together.

Gorgeous Giveaway Wedding Filled with Heart

Jessica and Eric are here to remind us what weddings are all about. For their day is one filled with compassion in the midst of heartache. A celebration that honors one important thing: love. For this deserving couple wanted nothing more than to share their special day with the Bride’s father during his courageous health battle, and thanks to the gracious donations from every selfless vendor involved, their dreams became reality. It’s weddings like this that remind us why we celebrate every moment and why marriage matters. See it all captured by Abigail Bobo Photography in THE VAULT! P.S. Have an amazing love story with your own. Share with us using #SMPShareYourStory

From Modern Vintage EventsWhen people in Nashville join forces to make something good happen, it does. We joined together with a group of local wedding vendors at Homestead Manor to give a wedding to a deserving couple, Jessica and Eric DeVaughn. Homestead Manor, along with Abigail Bobo Photography and Modern Vintage Events facilitated a giveaway that would give one couple a styled dream wedding paired with photography, planning, and brunch for up to 12 guests. Once the wheels were in motion other vendors opened their hearts and donated their talents.

Jessica and Eric are Berklee trained musicians who met in a college admissions office. Their story started with friendship and eventually evolved into a lasting love. “ My visions became clearer, my goals and ambitions became larger, and the world seemed much brighter,” explains Jessica, “I was less afraid, not simply because Eric came into my life, but because Eric taught me to live.” Those ambitions eventually led them all over the world as they performed on cruise ships. Music was such a part of those days that they eventually landed in a city rich with music. In the midst of their engagement Jessica’s dad was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia and then later with ALS. Both of these are aggressive and made a long future with her dad unsure. Jessica wanted the chance for her dad to be at her wedding and walk her down the aisle. To be there to give her away to the man who will walk with her through the rest of life’s journeys. There isn’t enough time for her dad to see it all, but there was enough time for him to take a walk with her.

Every aspect of the day was donated, from the venue, Homestead Manor, to photography, planning, a Carol Hannah Bridal gown flown from New York, Jewelry from Walton’s, hand calligraphy paper goods- including a copy of their vows in scripted with music notes on the back- from Script Merchant, to florals created by Basil and Bergamot, hair and makeup by Andrea Suarez of Salon N Fuse, Music from JD’s Music and hand dyed ribbon and lace goods from The Lace Atelier in Paris, France. Jessica has a love for sweets so Dulce Desserts donated a cake and Five Daughters Bakery contributed to her self-professed donut obsession.

Sometimes you say yes to something that you have no idea will grow and evolve in a way that shows you that it is divinely laid out. When we all said yes, we had no idea that it would shake us all and allow us to really give someone a beautiful wedding and lasting moments with her dad, moments that are fleeting. It would allow us to see two families come together and just love each other and let the world go for one day. It would let us watch a man and woman say yes to each other, allow us to watch a dad proudly walk his daughter down the aisle and give us a chance to see a wife, faithfully stand by her husband while supporting her daughter. The entire day was a testament to real marriage, real life. It showed us beauty, compassion and love all in the midst of heartache.

“About thirty minutes before the men were scheduled to try on their tuxes, my mother called to let me know my Dad was having a particularly rough morning. My Dad has always been a stoic and quiet man. I have seen him cry twice in my life, and both times it rocked me to my core,” says Jessica, when asked about the day, “My Dad was beside himself. He was crying heavy tears and was unable to explain what was wrong. When someone has FTD their frontal and temporal lobes slowly begin to die. This impacts their ability to find words and eventually to speak at all. It also impacts their emotional processes, causing rapid changes in mood and personality. My father was hurting and there was no clear way to help him. It was heartbreaking and I felt myself melting when I recognized that despite everyone’s best efforts, this is where we are. Eric said “Jess, we all have to remember that this is for your Dad. That there are no rules or limitations to how far we will go to make this possible for him. If he needs to wear his sweats to the wedding that is fine, if he needs help walking that is fine, and if he cries that is fine. All we can do is take this a second at a time.” I was reminded that in sickness and in health, I would have an incredible partner for the rest of my life.”

Times like this remind us as wedding vendors that this is why we do what we do. This is why we celebrate, and celebrate big, these moments. There are people there to celebrate with us that may not be around for long, and we are helping to create and capture moments that will never happen again.

“The wedding was more than a dream, it was pure magic. The sun came out and gave us the most beautiful fall day. Ladybugs buzzed around everyone and people whispered “it’s good luck!” Everyone arrived with a quiet sense of calm and purpose. We were enveloped in love and support” expresses Jessica, “My Dad did get to walk me down the aisle and as it turns out, everyone cried. I did get to marry my best friend in the company of those I love most. And we were given more grace than I ever imagined. I am not the same as I was, for now I know peace.”

Rustic + Organic Tennessee Valley Wedding

Who would think that a sweet sign, simply spreading joy, would be such a fun addition to a celebration!? This Southern wedding was filled to the brim with signs proclaiming “Yay” and every time I saw one in Abigail Bobo’s pics, a smile appeared. But it was just one detail in a whole day full of love and laughter – get in on these good vibes in our VAULT right this way!

From Abigail Bobo Photography… Fog rolled across the Tennessee hills as torrential rain cut through Franklin, miraculously skirting Leiper’s Fork.

At Southall Meadows, preparations were underway as Sarah and her team set up wooden tables with cascading florals. Beyond Details filled the barn with delicious food aromas for this relaxed and joyful wedding day. Outside, guests merrily waved their ‘YAY’ flags, perfectly summing up the mood of the day. (If you look closely, you can see a little ‘Yay!’ in almost every photo.)

Zach built a beautiful wooden arch for them to wed beneath, while Perry put her skills to work creating the canvas ‘YAY’ flags.

With a beautiful gown hand-selected for Perry by Sarah of Sarah Seven herself, Perry glowed and floated her way through the day.

Perry and Zach have been together for 10 years. Through thick and thin, come hell or high water, they stuck it out. As Perry said before their wedding day, “The commitment is already here. We are simply celebrating a bond of love that already exists; and forging a new bond with the people who celebrate us.”

From the Bride… From the beginning, we both felt strongly about a “no-theme” theme. An event that felt personal to us was our main goal. That being said, our focus was on natural colors like green, gray, and brown, with touches of gold mixed in. We love being outside together and wanted an earthy botanical vibe without a lot of frills. Southall Meadows, our venue, ended up being the perfect spot for this because it is so gorgeous on its own and needed very little extra decor.
We took on quite a few projects in hopes that people would notice and see them as a reflection of us. The “Yay’ flags took a few weekend sessions on our back porch to complete, but we loved seeing our guests wave them around all evening! We also had a couple rubber stamps made and personalized the napkins ourselves with the logo we designed and the faces of our two adorable cats! A lot of the decor items on the tables were our personal knick knacks, which made the barn feel more like home.
This is the exact type of advice I spent the 11 months of wedding planning rolling my eyes at, but I’ll echo it anyway because it ended up being so true for me! Try your hardest not to fret over all the details of your big day. If I had known how many things would go “wrong,” (it was unseasonably cold, the buses ran behind, my hair got wet, I could go on!) I might have been tempted to call the whole thing off. But I can honestly say that it all worked out and I wouldn’t have changed a single decision! You just can’t prepare for everything. But you’ll worry no matter what anyone says, so let the knowledge that your guests love you be your mantra!

Black + Gold Holiday Wedding Inspiration

When it comes to styling winter celebrations, I fall into the mindset of “opposites attract.” Take this holiday-inspired shoot from the fabulous Cedarwood WeddingsDesigns In Paper and Julie Paisley. It’s metallics and glam paired up with natural, organic elements and fresh foliage galore. Rustic and modern and glam all at once, THE VAULT is bursting with ideas for winter brides in every style camp. Grab your hot cocoa and let’s get started.

From Julie PaisleyThe holidays are a time to sparkle and shine, even on a Tennessee nature preserve. It is precisely the play of festive patterns and metallics against outdoor landscapes that encourages intimate weddings and backyard celebrations during a season defined by lovely settings.

We paired glitter and glam with organic elements for a rustic chic style that is unexpected but undeniably warm and inviting, starting with glided evergreens in the ceremony altar at the venue’s Cedar Cottage. Sequined overlays on bench seating continues on reception chairs to unify spaces. Festive paper goods and table decor in black, gold and white offer modern appeal. Fresh foliage is the star of florals, especially in the loosely gathered bridal bouquet. The bride and groom are perfectly balanced between style elements with her bejeweled headpiece and his hand-crafted wood bow tie.

Classic Tennessee Estate Wedding

This right here is the Southern wedding of my dreams. A day set a the bride’s grandparents’ home that is the very definition of  grace, elegance and tradition. Family moments like the bride’s great grandmother’s Belgian lace veil were incorporated throughout the day with Page and Windrow on hand to coordinate from beginning to end. Thanks to Leslee Mitchell’s images we might never The Vault.

From The Bride…Before I ever started planning my wedding day, I knew exactly where I wanted it to take place: my grandparent’s house. Their home holds such a dear place in my heart. Not only was it the location for my parent’s wedding reception, it was also where I had my first birthday party as a child. Their house represents to me the epitome of beauty and tradition. Everything from the wallpaper to the antique chandeliers evokes a sense of history for me that no other place could. I wanted my guests to feel a sense of family and comfort the second they entered the house. It meant so much to me that our family photos were scattered about and I wanted each guest to feel a familial sense of community and love. My husband and I had been together for over 10 years and had essentially grown up together, and we really wanted the guests to feel that deep connection.

With the help of my wedding coordinator, Libby Page, I was able to create my dream wedding. Libby not only captured my vision perfectly, but she was very familiar with my family and my grandparents’ home. Not only did I want to emphasize family, I wanted the wedding ceremony and reception to have a secret garden, almost ethereal feeling. I wanted all of the colors to be soft and dreamy. The bridesmaids wore a very soft dusty rose shade and my maid of honor wore the same type of dress, but in a muted grey, taupe shade. The Tulip Tree provided our flowers and were able to match the bouquets perfectly to the dresses as well. At the reception, our tables were covered in a soft pale pink damask tablecloth.

I always knew I wanted to incorporate lace in my wedding gown and it fit well with the ethereal atmosphere. I already knew that I was going to use my great-grandmother’s wedding veil which was made of Belgian lace and had a beautiful train of it’s own. Monique Lhuillier was an easy choice when it came to my wedding gown designer. After trying on several dresses, I chose her Heirloom wedding gown. The dress was covered in ivory and white lace, and was a fitted trumpet gown with a very subtle train. My favorite part were the lace long sleeves, which were perfect for the cool October evening.

My husband and I wanted to have some photos taken before the wedding ceremony so we decided to have a “first look.” My photographer, Leslee Mitchell, captured this emotional and exciting moment in a way that really brought attention to the beauty and light of the house. When it came to my wedding photos, I never could have imagined that they would turn out as beautiful as they did. Leslee not only captured the love that my husband and I had for each other on that special day, but she showed a side of my grandparent’s house that took my breath away. The lighting in each and every photo gave off that romantic and ethereal light that I had always wanted.

Travel Elopement Inspiration in Nashville

The Ganeys said it best, the love between Brad and Morgan is straight out of a fairy tale. Their decade long romance and love of travel that served as the inspiration for this gallery, an inspirational elopement. An adventurous ceremony where they exchanged vows from their travel journals and pinned their dream explorations to visit to – first stop? THE VAULT!

From The GaneysThe love story between Brad and Morgan is straight out of a fairy tale. They first met about a decade ago in a youth choir at a local church. At that time in their lives, their age gap kept them apart, but it was clear there was interest in one another.

Several years later, after Brad had graduated from college, they went on a date and were inseparable. Over the course of their relationship, they endured a good amount of long distance. Brad spent time in England, pursuing his Master’s degree and Morgan decided to join him across the pond and study abroad for her senior year of college.

During this time, they explored numerous countries in eastern and western Europe – tasting new foods, exploring new cultures, even hanging out with camels. Their adventures didn’t stop there. They spent their three year anniversary climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Their love of travel and exploration was the inspiration for this elopement shoot.

I envisioned a couple that decided to skip the big party and all of the extras, in exchange for adventure. A couple that values natural surroundings as opposed to confined rooms. A couple that knows that adventure is out there, and wants to share new experiences together.

I was fortunate enough to come across Abby & Luke’s shop on Etsy – Wayfaren Co. Their pieces were the perfect element to complete the rest of the story. Morgan and Brad read their vows from their travel journals – journals that would be filled with words from their honeymoon and journeys throughout the years. After the ceremony, they pinned their travel map – with their past destinations, and the locations they were dreaming of exploring together.

Morgan wore an ethereal Watters gown from BHLDN and carried a jaw-dropping bouquet created by Elizabeth Earnest Florals. She wore a delicate RomanticARTLife floral hair piece to complete the look of her hair and makeup done by Nicole Pechonis.

This shoot was a dream, and the love between these two is absolutely contagious. I know their life, and travel journals, will be filled to the brim with adventure and love.

Summer Wedding at Cheekwood Botantical Gardens

Friends, you’ve made it through the start of the work week, so a little real wedding eye candy from Cassidy Carson is most certainly in order. See photographed a darling garden party inspired celebration and this image alone is guaranteed to make your day. Kelly Lenard is to thank for the stunning floral situation, and The Vault is your go-to for so much more.

From The Bride… Kevin and I met in October of 2013, his sister-in-law and my roommate conspired and set us up on blind date. They really do work! After a few pleasantry texts, we scheduled our date for October 10th at Yogurtland. Come to find out later, his sister-in-law was constructing his text messages and my roommate drafted mine so they essentially had a nice conversation setting everything up. He picked me up that night around eight and we spent the next three hours chatting over frozen yogurt, none of which I ate because I still in the “girls don’t eat in front of their date” phase. Needless to say, it was a great first date and we had our second the next week.

We got engaged on February 18, 2015 and immediately started planning our big day. We luckily flew to Nashville the day after we got engaged and so we were able to look at a few venues since I was determined to get married in my hometown. We both fell in love Cheekwood and when we found out they had an opening for late August we immediately booked it. The theme for our wedding revolved around our venue and was set as a “romantic garden dinner party”. We really wanted the florals from Kelly Lenard to be our main focal point so we focused on creating a space that would enhance her work. To tie in my southern roots, the catering was classically southern with appetizers of shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes and entrees of fried chicken with whipped sweet potatoes. The main focus of our wedding though was not the food or flowers, but truly celebrating the joining of two families with our closest friends.

Our actual wedding day was absolutely perfect. I’m sure everyone says that but I truly mean it. We had the absolute best team, friends and family supporting us and truly making our day so special. We had the blessing of being sealed in the Nashville, Tennessee Temple before heading to Cheekwood for the Ring Ceremony and Reception later that night. The best part of the day was just being able to just relax and enjoy the reception and watch the array of dance moves happening throughout the night.

Rustic Vintage Fall Wedding Inspiration

The creative combination of rustic and vintage styles seems to go together oh so well, and yet, we don’t see it all that often, so a big thank you to Morgan G Photography for sharing these pretty pics from her styled shoot with Vision in White Events. With Bella Figura’s fun invites and menus and these bright autumn blooms, our VAULT just got a stylish little update – see it all right this way!

From Morgan G. Photography… We began planning for this shoot with the intent that we would be mixing both vintage and rustic elements and the setting of Iriswoods did not disappoint. We based our vintage look off the 1850s log cabin that is nestled away in the woods just outside of Nashville, TN. The cabin is stunning and features a luxurious bridal suite that our bride used to prepare for the photos. We used the tall grass and old barn at the far end of the property to create a rustic atmosphere.

We wanted this couple to take us on a trip to a time long ago. Our bride creates a timeless look with her red lips and refined gold heels. She is in a Watters Wtoo silk, hand embroidered, organza gown featuring an illusion neckline. Her lovely bouquet designed by Belles Fleurs features vivid red, yellow, green, and orange tones to add warmth for fall.

To add to the vintage motif we used decor from Two Monkeys Vintage. We featured a green Victorian couch and a classic game of croquet. Our table was composed of an old barn door and then topped with a collection of vintage, mismatched china. Gold accents were added in the form of chargers, vases, and flatware to create an elegant touch. We displayed extra dishes in an old wooden crate and we hung a whitewashed lantern from a tree branch above our table to add light. Although the naked cake is a newer wedding trend, we loved the simplicity of this cake and the way it complemented our rustic details. Overall, we left this shoot feeling as though we had taken a trip to another century.

I am so honored to have gotten the chance to collaborate with such a talented group of local vendors!

Rustic + Timeless Trinity View Farms Wedding

A new display from Leslee Mitchell is reason alone to celebrate, but add in the craftsmanship of Big Events Weddings draped with Southern Events props and you’ve got yourself one perfect party. From the autumn inspired centerpieces to the unplanned hot air-balloon ceremony, it’s the type of day we’ve deemed dream-worthy and we’re giving YOU an exclusive invite to peruse the pretty in THE VAULT!

From The Bride…I had never been one of those girls who dreamed about their wedding day all their lives, but after Andrew and I were engaged it started a whirlwind of “dreaming for the big day”. First it was most important to me to find a venue that was not basic and reflective of us as a couple. I did not want to be just another wedding venue with three packages to chose from without modification. We went through three different non venues falling through (all being personal homes that would not work out ) and six months before our wedding date we found the most ideal/dream/ perfect location that embodied everything Andrew and I had ever wanted. Trinity View Farm, was off the beaten path in the rolling hills of Tennessee, and at the time, not an actual “venue”. We got to bring in everything specific to our design dreams: decor, florals, tents, our dream photographer, Leslee Mitchell plus use our own full service wedding planners, Big Events Inc. who planned and created a magical day that truly felt like us.

I am a native Floridian, with a Mississippi heritage who is mildy obsessed with the outdoors (most specifically fall in Nashville) while Andrew is a Nashville native- born and raised. It was important to me to bring in elements of my hometown, Destin Florida and Mississippi roots since the wedding location was in my new home of TN. We used driftwood and sprigs of cotton on the ceremony arch under which we said our vows, with a back drop setting of Tennessee was a gift from God. We continued the usage of driftwood throughout the night using them on the tablescapes. I chose a custom hand drawn design from local designer, Olia Zavozina. It was everything i wanted and more…plus comfortable (custom pocket inserts!) For the bridesmaids I chose “vanilla” hue by Amsale to really let the scenery speak for itself instead of overbearing color. Andrew, also a fan of not being basic, picked the guys to wear custom suits in Navy blue by a very talented local tailor, Jeff from Stich It paired with a custom tie from local tie -maker and designer Otis James.

We decided to get married at sunset because that was when Andrew proposed to me 9 months prior. It was a sunset like no other i had seen before and as we said I do Hot Air Balloons passed the open sky, unbeknownst to us. I walked down the aisle by my father to my favorite instrument, a bagpipe. Our vows were traditional mixed with kind words of wisdom from our Presbyterian minister friend Carter Crenshaw. We had our dear friend and artist, Abigail Rose sing acoustic version one of our favorite songs “Stand by Me”… after we said our I do’s our parents followed us as we followed the bag pipe down the aisle to our reception next door.

Throughout the planning process we were extremely humbled to see how many loved ones chose to travel, and attend our big day. We wanted to make sure everyone was extremely comfortable in the venue adding extra soft seating and lounge areas outside.

Both of us being a lover of music and tequila, brought our most favorite elements of the wedding reception… the band, Big Blast and The Party Masters and Patron at every bar. It was for sure a party we will never forget. Our first dance was to Into the Mystic- Van Morrison and my dad and I’s dance was to “What a wonderful World” – Louis Armstrong. And that it is…such a wonderful world and a day Andrew and I will never forget.

Elegant Equestrian Wedding in Tennessee

If bluegrass and bourbon are your jam, then you’re going to love this Southern charmer. It’s a farm style fete that is a honest-to-goodness dream. Married in the church that the Groom grew up in, it’s a union of pretty that is beyond perfect in every single possible. From the barn reception, to a few galloping guests, Brooke Boling shared it all in The Vault!

From Brooke BolingThere were so many special wedding day highlights on this beautiful day. The minister that married ashley + will has known the bride her whole life, and they married in the church (West End United Methodist) the groom grew up in. At the reception, guests were greeted at Wills’ family barn by Percherons (the horses). During the cocktail hour, guests sipped on the grooms favorite cocktail, Moscow Mules. The cocktails were served up in copper mugs as they listened to bluegrass tunes played by Craig Duncan and Friends. The seated buffet began with a plated first course…a “vegetable ceviche” that included the brides favorite fruit, watermelon. A perfect crisp and cold selection for the warm, summer evening. After the guests worked up an appetite dancing, they were served late night burgers and fries and then sent home with blueberry and maple glazed donut holes.

Romantic Spring Elopement at Cedarwood

These cuties envisioned their love as a still life painting, bursting with blooms and candlelight, and Cedarwood Weddings took that idea and ran with it, creating a picture perfect scene for them to say their “I do’s” in an intimate ceremony. Julie Paisley was there for it all, from the elegant invites by Designs In Paper to the beautiful cake by Patty Cakes – see this super sweet elopement right this way!

From Julie Paisley PhotographyAlicia and Benjamin told us that if their love were depicted as a still life painting, it would be full of flowers and candlelight. The design team at Cedarwood Weddings took that symbolism to heart, and designed their ceremony altar as art, using fresh flowers encased in a gold frame. You might say this entire art-inspired elopement, set amidst a charming Tennessee historic estate, is pretty as a picture.

Massed gold candle lanterns cast a glow over the alfresco reception, which was classically styled with rich tabletop design, a wine bar and dramatically-elevated wedding cake framed with flowers. The bride’s bouquet was an intricate masterpiece of lush vines and flowers, hand tied with romantic, long silk ribbon.

The bride’s sister helped her dress in an exquisite Maggie Sottero and All About Romance veil. We love private elopements in beautiful, light-filled natural settings. It was a joy capturing elements and emotions of this celebration with film photography.

Outdoor Nashville Mansion Wedding

This staircase moment? It’s what every girl dreams of. Walking down to her Groom in true movie-esque fashion with Kristin Sweeting there to capture on camera. Along with Kalimana Film Stories, they documented each moment of these Nashville nuptials – from vows on a wraparound front porch to a tented reception fit for the storybooks. More Southern charm waiting right this way.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/133721475 600 338]

From The Bride…Mike and I had been dating for two years when he decided to propose. It was Christmas Day when he brought over a tiny wrapped box that to my surprise was empty when I opened it. When I looked over at him in confusion he was kneeling next to me with a ring in his hand and asked me to marry him in front of my family. After the proposal, we decided on a June wedding which meant we had exactly six months to plan.

Mike and I both wanted our wedding to be a reflection of our commitment to each other, our love of friends and family, and our personal faith. In looking for that special place for our wedding day, we knew when we arrived at Ravenswood Mansion, it was the perfect choice. Both of us grew up within a few miles of this beautiful farm, so it was the ideal setting for our special day.

With Mike being in the military, I wanted our colors to be subtle touches of red, white, and blue to recognize and honor him for what he does. Thanks to Pinterest, I came across a picture from a wedding where the groomsmen all wore red, white, and blue flag socks. Mike loved the idea, so we decided to have the fathers and groomsmen wear them. Not only did it add to our color theme, but it allowed a special personal touch for the men to show their support of Mike and the military.

In keeping with our Southern outdoor wedding, we chose to say our vows on the front porch of the antebellum home with the dinner reception outside under an illuminated tent. The historic wraparound porch at the mansion, next to the beautifully decorated tent made for an elegant setting for the rest of our evening.

When I started to think about a style for our wedding, one thing I was certain about was I wanted the wedding to have personal touches on every detail. I wanted the guests to get a feel of who we are as a couple and see our personalities come through in every detail of the wedding. Thanks to my family, I was able to accomplish this. Some of the personal details we included were a memorial room for special family members who had passed away, homemade s’more’s in a jar to honor my special Great Aunt as wedding favors, picture frames with our favorite quotes placed around the venue, and window panes filled with photos of Mike and me from when we were little up to the time of our wedding. My maid of honor, my sister, added a special touch by making signs and placing them around the venue. My mother found beautiful antique lace to use as a runner for each of our reception tables. Each table was decorated with a beautiful white lantern, accented with a floral arrangement, and surrounded with tea lights. The tables were set with white china and stemware to create a southern vintage décor for the evening.

For my something borrowed and something old, I used part of my mothers wedding dress to make my veil and used part of her veil as a decorative comb in my hair. I loved having these beautiful items to wear for sentimental purposes and I knew it meant so much to my mom that these heirlooms from her special day were now a part of mine. My dress turned out to be the perfect dress for me. I wanted a classic dress with an open back that was simple yet elegant. I loved the combination of the detailed lace and the beautiful silk bottom of the dress. It was the perfect mixture of everything I was looking for.

One of my favorite memories during the wedding was dancing with my dad to, “You Belong to Me,” by The Duprees. When the song ended I gave him a high five for keeping it together throughout the whole song, which I thought would be impossible. Mike and I had our first dance to “La Vie En Rose,” by Daniela Andrade, and during the song Mike decided to do his Elaine dance from Seinfeld, which cracks us up every time we watch the wedding video, but is another example of how he put his own “personal touch” on our day.

The day was full of so much love and we are so thankful that we had such an amazing team to help us enjoy and remember every second. Our photographer, Kristin Sweeting, was the sweetest and captured all the special moments of the day by making the day look truly magical with her candid shots! Our videographer, Kalimana Film Stories, was so wonderful to work with and did a fantastic job documenting the highlights of our day so we can look back on them for years to come. Cande Cook, our wedding planner did a wonderful job bringing all the little details together to make the day run smoothly so Mike and I, our families, friends, and wedding party could just relax and enjoy the day. Our florist, Cary Allyn, really set the mood for the wedding with her beautiful and ornate arrangements and boutiques which she placed all around the mansion. Last but not least, our caterer, Burton Catering, did a fantastic job displaying the food as well as making the most delicious dinner. They topped it off by serving mini pies and ice cream under one of the big oak trees on the grounds of the mansion.

Without all of these people, friends and family who traveled near and far, this day would not have been as special. Mike and I greatly appreciate all of them and the hard work they put in to make this day the best day of our lives, and a day both of us will always cherish.

Classic Southern Cheekwood Botanical Gardens Wedding

When you marry a classic Southern couple with Bamber Photography and a city like Nashville, wedding sparks fly. Dressed in bow-tied gentlemen, a Bride donning Vera Wang, white splashes and scenes like this, this soiree is the epitome of traditional beauty. Jayne Bubis Events and Branches Event Florist certainly graced the day with their sweet touch and you can see it all here in The Vault!

From Bamber PhotographyWhat a beautiful southern celebration! Kyle and Claire live in New York City, but since they both have grown up in the south, they wanted to get married in Nashville. They chose Cheekwood Botanical Garden as their venue because they loved the gardens!

From the Bride… Kyle and I met in high school through two of our friends. We ended up as senior year Homecoming dates, and we haven’t stopped dating since. Kyle knew that I would want to be around my family when he proposed, so when I was in Nashville over spring break my last year in law school, Kyle secretly flew down to Nashville as well. He had made a big to-do about how he was so excited about celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in New York that Saturday with his friends and even texted me details of their supposed celebration that morning, but then my maid of honor called me, told me I should go down to my guest house for a special surprise, and he was waiting there. He proposed, and the rest was history!

I had seen my dress in a few wedding blog posts and fell in love with the pictures. I tried on a lot of other dresses on, but none compared to what I thought this one would be in person. I couldn’t find it in any local wedding shops, but I happened to find it when I went with my parents on a business trip in New York, and I made up my mind within minutes of trying it on.

The ceremony venue is the church where I’ve gone with my family my whole life. It was very special to be married in the place where I’ve sat nearly every Sunday. The reception venue was a botanical garden and art museum that I’ve always loved visiting. I think it’s one of the most beautiful spots in Nashville, and I loved that guests could wander around the museum if they didn’t want to be out with the band.

The bride’s cake was made by Leland Riggin of Dessert Designs and was her classic tiered cake with hydrangeas between the layers. Her cakes are so delicious—it was hard to pick a flavor because they were all amazing! The groom’s cake was from Momofuku Milk Bar, one of our favorite bakeries in New York and a nod to our current home.

It entire day was memorable! A few things stood out for me. The minister gave a homily during the ceremony about marriage that was heartfelt, funny, and very personalized to the two of us. Then before the father-daughter dance and the first dance, both my dad and Kyle gave toasts, and both were excellent (and total tearjerkers). And then during the first dance, Kyle actually was microphoned and sang the song and did a great job. Kyle loves hearing the sound of his own voice, so I think both his toast and his song were very satisfying to him as well.

My something old was the garter my mom wore at her wedding. My something blue (and borrowed) was the Chi Omega pledge pin that belonged to Kyle’s grandmother. My something new was my dress!
How did you plan for your marriage while planning your wedding? It was fairly hectic because in the first part of the wedding planning, I was studying for the bar exam; then I moved to New York and started a new job; then right before the wedding we had to prepare to move into an apartment. With all of that going on, we learned a lot about how to share the workload.

Our advice for couples? While we’re both huge proponents of planning every detail, don’t get too worked up about the little stuff on the day of the wedding. There will almost certainly be mistakes, but the guests will never notice and you won’t have any worse of a time for them. Also, if your groom wants to be part of the planning process, let him! His ideas may be some of the best.

From Lauren EmersonTiffany and Ryan radiate a love that humbles your soul. Their affection towards one another is one that knows no bounds. Tiffany walked down the isle in a mermaid fit gown that left guests speechless. The blush tones brought to life by Kelly Lenard’s floral design including ranunculus, snowberries, dogwood and roses created a warm and cozy atmosphere during their seated supper where guests laughed and drank in merriment. The Belle Meade plantation was the perfect venue for this couple who love Lexington, KY and its horse culture. The old wooden carriage house that once held thoroughbreds as a southern extension of the racing industry in Kentucky was now the spot where Tiffany and Ryan danced the night away with their closest friends and family. I like to believe they created memories that will outlast the legacy of the horses that once stood there. The quintessential capstone to the night was when they left in style riding away in a vintage silver Rolls Royce.

From The Groom…Our wedding day was truly the most enriching and amazing day of my life. To be surrounded with so much love from all of our friends and family as we both said “I Do”. The happiest moment of not only that day but my life was when I saw her for the first time that day as she walked down the aisle. In that moment she took my breath and my heart. Our wedding day was the definition of perfection and was everything that we dreamed of. Almost every single person who had attended, later told us that our wedding was the most unbelievable wedding they had ever been to and felt like a fairytale. The weather, the guests, the food, the band, the cake and my bride all couldn’t have been any more perfect. It was a day that my wife and I will cherish for the rest of our lives and I believe that our wedding day was just a future glimpse into how our journey in life will transpire.

Elegant Blue Nashville Wedding

This Nashville soiree from Jessica Lorren Organic Photography has taken ‘something blue‘ to a whole new level, and it has me happily wrapped in every layer of this cool hue today. From slate blue to navy to teal, it guides you through this elegant day from the bridesmaids to the invitations to the incredibly striking tablescapes. Ridiculously pretty, right? The rest is waiting right here for you in The Vault!

From Jessica SloaneKarrah is aesthetically-driven and creative. She knew from the beginning that she wanted to create a wedding ceremony that honored her small-town heritage and a reception that felt like a warm, inviting dinner party with all her close friends and family.

The ceremony was held at an old, small church down the street from The Cordelle, a restored Victorian-style home from the late 1800s in downtown Nashville. It was important to Karrah that the ceremony feel like home, a small town in west Tennessee.

For the reception, we drew inspiration from Karrah’s favorite shade of blue. We sourced a West Elm rug for her newly renovated bungalow that became a focal point. Linen lounge seating around the fireplace welcomed guests in. Karrah found the perfect ribbons from one of her trips back to NYC that we paired with ribbon and silks from Silk & Willow. Having worked in the wedding industry and having some experience with floral design herself, the flowers were another focal point in the design. The loose arrangements were filled with texture and contrast. Jackson vine adorned every nook of The Cordelle.

Guests dined on an Tuscan-inspired meal and enjoyed conversation while a baby grand piano was played in the background. As guests mingled out on the porch, a Barista created specialty coffee drinks to enjoy with dessert while old vinyl records filled the air. Karrah and Jamie departed through a lawn of candlelight, where hundreds of candles were scattered by the big Hackberry tree.

Romantic and Refined Classic Southern Wedding Inspiration

Brimming with a timeless combination of classic styling (like the model bride’s to-die-for Lea-Ann Belter confection), lush ivory florals from SOULflowers, and Southern charm, this inspiration shoot from photographer Julie Paisley is another perfect example of why my love for traditional Southern weddings endures. Take a peek at all the pretty in the gallery, and prepare to swoon!

From Julie PaisleyThe breathtaking grounds, gorgeous gardens and lavish décor of Riverwood Mansion have made it the seat of Southern hospitality since the 1700s. The grand Greek Revival columns and entryway along with the black Egyptian marble fireplaces lend a certain Southern sophistication to the mansion that inspired the classic romance of this shoot. It’s easy to get swept away by the grandeur of the space and the grounds, which are lined with towering magnolias whose sweet blooms made our real couple’s session on the grounds all the more romantic. By focusing on clean, simple lines and a paired-down color palette of greens, creams and the softest accents of blush and peach, we were able to create a modern feel that seamlessly complimented the ornate architectural elements and period details of the mansion. The resulting style is refined yet romantic with florals that were just untamed enough to keep the overall look from feeling stuffy. When paired with the architectural elements, ornate wall sconces and other period details in the space, these details created a classic elegance that matched the grandeur of a mansion where lavish parties were once held to honor presidents and poets alike. Still, we can’t think of anyone more worthy of celebration than a couple in love!

Romantic Art Deco-Inspired Nashville Wedding

I don’t love themed weddings, but this Bride and Groom’s Art Deco-inspired Nashville fête is so elegant and understated, that I may have to change my stance. With touches like beaded bridesmaids’ dresses and décor to highlight the space’s neoclassical design, this wedding is the perfect modern take on 1920’s glamour. And Cassidy Carson‘s photos? Well, they’re perfection, too—see them here.

From The Bride… Nashville is a very special place to us; we met in Nashville, and my husband attended Vanderbilt University. Therefore Nashville was the only choice for us to tie the knot. When we started to look for wedding venues, we both knew that we wanted a classic wedding venue that combined southern culture and vintage charm. From the moment we entered the Schermerhorm Symphony Center in downtown Nashville, we immediately fell in love with the neoclassic design and natural lighting. The venue provided a vintage template, with a stunning courtyard, meticulous crown molding, and grand interior columns. The unique light fixtures and marble flooring were enhanced with beautiful organic floral arrangements.

When it came time to purchase a dress, I had trouble deciding what type of dress I wanted. I just couldn’t imagine myself in a traditional wedding dress. After looking through lots of wedding magazines and blogs, I ended with a custom design from St. Isabel based in Austin, TX. I quickly decided that I would feel most comfortable in a deep & dramatic neckline, and then we built onto the dress from there. I ended up wearing a long sleeved, white laced gown, with beautiful button details.

Once we selected the venue we wanted to make sure our wedding day was elegantly captured. We researched so many photographers and immediately fell in love with film photographer, Cassidy Carson. We couldn’t be happier with the way our pictures turned out. Every picture captures the joy of our wedding with a romantic, rich texture and soft finish.

On the day of our wedding, we started our morning with a quick run; we couldn’t resist telling fellow joggers that we were getting married. Everyone responded with positive comments and stories about their wedding day. Once we finished running we were off to the venue. Another great wedding decision was selecting Jamie Brickell from 12th table design for wedding coordination and Amanda Gros for styling and makeup. Jamie was spot-on with every wedding detail; she made all my planning efforts come to reality. Amanda Gros was also brilliant; she understood that I wanted a vintage, yet natural look. It was very important to me that my makeup wasn’t too heavy. We anticipated being nervous on the wedding day, but were surprisingly relaxed.

Even though we wanted a traditional venue, we wanted to reduce the traditional wedding activities. We excluded the garter belt / bouquet toss and cutting the cake; however we kept our first dance and the dances with our parents. One of my favorite wedding memories was dancing with my father to Moon River, the same song that my grandparents danced to at their wedding. We also wanted our guests to accurately experience Nashville, aka The Music City; we selected an incredible band that kept us dancing to Motown hits. My husband’s primary goal for the wedding was to have an awesome party, and sure enough, everyone had such a good time that it ended with all the male guests placing their ties around their heads. It was a night to remember! We feel so fortunate to have experienced our dream wedding, surrounded by the people we love.
