When You Meet “The One” on Christmas

I’ve been watching my fair share of Hallmark classics this holiday season, and quite frankly, Brett and Emily’s love story could put any movie storyline to shame. These two met at the hospital working the Christmas shift and soon knew they’d found something very special. Cassidy Carson photographed all the wedding details, including stationery by Designs in Paper, and the film by Matt G Video is an absolute must-watch.

MustWatch_swash-01

From the Bride… Brett and I met on Christmas night, when we were both stuck working the overnight shift at the hospital. I was the nurse for a patient who was getting increasingly sick, and Brett was the Medicine Resident I called to come help. The patient ended up getting much better (he was able to celebrate his 65th wedding anniversary the next month), and Brett and I went on our first date shortly after. About a year and a half after that we were engaged, and ready to start planning our wedding!

Brett and I decided to get married in Nashville, where we both currently live. The first thing we chose was the venue; Mint Springs Farm. It was the perfect combination of elegant and cozy, with its giant Swarovski crystal chandeliers and beautiful barn. Plus they welcomed our King Charles Cavalier puppy Walter with open arms! The photographer was next, and one of the most important things to me. When I saw how perfectly Cassidy captured the emotion of a wedding day, I knew immediately she would do a great job of capturing all the small moments I would want to look back on for years to come.

I am very close to my younger brother, and there isn’t a designated place for a brother in a wedding. I ultimately decided on letting him do my speech, and chose not to have a maid of honor. It was much too difficult to choose between my friends anyway! I loved being able to hear about our relationship from his point of view, and it was one of my favorite parts of the day.

The day itself was gorgeous, we couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was so great to have all the people closest to us together in one place. Once the day finally arrived I was really able to let go and enjoy the time with my friends, family, and new husband. The perfect ending to a relationship started on a cold Christmas night.

From the Bride…Ryan and I met in Nashville at the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013. It was apparent right away that somebody incredibly special had just walked into my life. I know Ryan felt the same way because about an hour later he proposed (for the first time) and uttered the words “I love you.” I laughed it off at the time but a week later, our long distance, whirlwind love story really began.

Over the next year we spent all of our weekends back and forth from Washington D. C. To Denver or meeting in various cities across the country. We even made it to Alaska, biked the Golden Gate Bridge and Ryan proposed (for real this time) atop beautiful Aspen Mountain. Our biggest adventure thus far arrived at 12:29 pm on December 22, 2014 in the form of a squishy baby boy named Beckett. Becoming parents opened our hearts to a whole new kind of love and happiness.

Every single cliche feeling people tell you about becoming a parent is true. Our sweet little family was bursting with joy so we knew we wanted our wedding day to reflect that. Ryan and I are blessed with the most incredible family and friends on earth so we wanted our wedding to not only be a celebration of our love, but also of the wonderful people we have in our lives.

To bring things full circle, we hosted our rehearsal dinner on Broadway in Nashville to kick things off. Our ceremony and reception took place at Mint Springs Farm and the whole day could not have been more calm or perfect. The birds were chirping and the breeze was just right as we exchanged our personal vows and said our I Do’s. The reception ‘Derby Day’ details were simple and subtle, and our Edison bulb chandelier tied the whole feel of the evening together. We danced the night way to our favorite local band, Burning Las Vegas and celebrated all the love we have been so fortunate to share.

A Nashville Wedding Dressed in Neutrals

Anytime Cassidy Carson steps in front of the camera, pretty things happen. Just take a peek at this Nashville wedding and you’ll see exactly what I mean. Designed around a neutrals-on-neutrals palette and a gorgeous stationery set by Designs in Paper, it’s Southern elegance done right in every way.

From the Bride…Corey and I met in January of 2011 when we were both out with mutual friends. Our connection was instant, but we didn’t begin our relationship until about a year and a half later. But when we did start our relationship, we knew right away it was a forever thing. Corey proposed in September 2015. We had talked about marriage for a long time, and had looked at rings and chosen the perfect one (well, I gave him a picture of a Heidi Gibson ring I fell in love with). I knew he had my grandmother’s wedding set so he could use the center stone, and from there I waited. When I got home from work one Saturday evening, Corey met me outside with a big smile. He was dressed up, and he grabbed my hands and led me to the front door where he told me to close my eyes. I was excited, thinking he had cleaned my house for me (this was normal). Instead, he led me inside and through the house to the dining room, where I opened my eyes to Corey on one knee and candlelight dinner with champagne and rose petals everywhere. The phone calls were made, pictures posted, and the next day the wedding planning started!

Having worked in the wedding industry since 2008, Corey left everything up to me. I knew the venue and photographer were the first two vendors to tackle. I also knew that having worked with bridal gowns for the last 8 years, finding my dress was going to be the most daunting part! Step one was a piece of cake: I knew exactly the venue I HAD to have and didn’t bother looking elsewhere. My wedding would be at the Cordelle in Nashville and the date would be whatever was available from April to before-football-season-starts 2016. I love everything about the Cordelle and have wanted my wedding to be there since I saw pictures of the building being renovated. Next up- finding a photographer. This was a stressful decision because pictures are so important! It’s the one thing left after the day is over. When I found Cassidy Carson Lynch’s website, I knew I wanted her to capture our wedding. And she did not disappoint! Our pictures are more perfect than we imagined. Next was the dress- and oh my goodness was I stressed about that. Those who know me know how picky I am, and having tried on probably a hundred wedding dresses in my life, I really wanted to feel like a bride and not feel like I’m putting on just another dress. I made three dress appointments, and after the second appointment I told my mom I wasn’t going to find a dress in Nashville and didn’t know what we would do. But the next day at my last appointment, the first Hayley Paige dress I put on was perfect. Dress ordered! Designs in Paper created the most perfect Save the Dates and Invitations to set the tone. Christina Logan Designs would take care of the planning leading up to the day. And A Village of Flowers was set to handle the florals.

Overall, I wanted the day to feel traditional but fresh, southern, and effortless. Many people asked me what “my colors” were. I always answered “I don’t have any!”- I love neutrals too much. The ivory bridesmaids’ dresses looked so classic with our lush bouquets of greens, creams, and whites. Thinking of my guests, I wanted them to have a drink in their hand and their feet on the dance floor. I work next to Chef’s Market, so that was another vendor I knew I had to book. I wanted everyone to have a good southern meal- and they did not disappoint. The food was perfection. We opted for a band over a DJ- being in downtown Nashville during CMA fest, we needed some live music! Cornhole was on the lawn, cafe lights lit up the outside bar, the dance floor was full, and it was perfect. Our favorite part of the day (aside from the ceremony!) was being able to visit with everyone that had come to help us celebrate. We honestly had so much fun the entire time. The day went by much too quickly, but looking back, everything looked and felt exactly how I envisioned it. I wouldn’t change a thing and I wish I could do it all over again!

Collins Tuohy of ‘The Blindside’ Shares Her Wedding Day

We knew Collins’ wedding was going to be one for the books. She shared her darling bachelorette weekend chock-full of cute moments, so came as no surprise that her big day design knocked it out of the park. It’s a glamourous black and gold affair ending with an epic dance party, including a few family members you just might recognize. See their album from the lens of Chard Photographer!

From the Bride…When deciding the “theme” of our wedding I sat down with my mom and basically said that I really didn’t want a theme. I wanted more of a feel, and an experience. I wanted people to walk away from my wedding saying, “Wow, they love each other and they love life!” Therefore, I decided the overall theme of the weekend, if I had to choose one, would be, “lights and liquor”! I wanted every emotion you get from any kind of lighting (romance from candles, joy from a disco ball, or excitement from multi colored laser lights), and liquor was simply the easiest way to say…A really good party! My husband, Cannon, and I have been together for 11 years, so we wanted our wedding to be a celebration of all the time we have grown together. I would say we both love traditions as much as we like to shake things up, and our wedding was a direct reflection of that. Our venue was an easy choice as it is one block from my parent’s house, and about three from his. Yes, we grew up 4 blocks away from each other ha! I have been in and around the events world my whole life, so I knew from day one I wanted to design and plan my own wedding from beginning to end. I had an amazing team of people that my mom and I assembled, and we would never have been able to pull the weekend off without each and every one of them. I only had a few specific wants for the weekend. One was being able to walk right from the ceremony to the reception, and the second was for my out of town guests to be close to all venues we used. After we chose the Hunt and Polo Club, and made the decision to tent over the pool, the choice became clear that we would use the tent for both nights.

Here comes the first thing we shook up. Instead of your traditional Saturday wedding with a reception following we split up the night into two. Friday we had an intimate wedding in one half of the tent (oh yes, my center isle was acrylic flooring over the pool!!) and in the other half of the tent, that connected to the ballroom, we had a seated dinner. One of my dear friends, Kelly English (James Beard Award Semifinalist) prepared a five course meal that included everything from caviar (my mother-in-law’s favorite) to my grandmother’s caramel cake! Following dinner we had aperitifs in the cigar room and spent time together with friends and family celebrating our first night as Mr. And Mrs. Smith. Saturday night we extended the guest list, flipped all the decor in the tent, and had a big blow out party!

There are too many amazing things from that weekend to describe them all so here are some of my absolute favs! First and foremost, my mom was my warrior and constant provider of peace and ideas throughout this entire process – I would not have stayed sane without her. My husband was game for anything that made me happy as long as he could wear a cool tux, which he did both nights. His favorite being his Tom Ford he wore Saturday night, that was a midnight blue! My dress took 7 months to make. It came all the way from Australia, and I did not even see it until the day it arrived – about a month before the wedding! The dress had an 11 foot train and I wore a hand-made crown that made me feel very Grace Kelly. My best friends and I share a piece of lace that has our initials and wedding date embroidered on it – it has become a tradition to attach the lace under the dress and wear it on the day of the wedding.

The Friday night invitation was a 3×5 replica of Jackie Kennedy’s, simple and timeless, which aligned to our candle light ceremony perfectly. After we said, “I Do!” a gospel choir surprised guests and sang, “Oh Happy Day!” As Cannon and I walked down the aisle as husband and wife the drapes opened into the dining area. We had mirrored tables made specifically for the wedding so we could have an 80 foot long center table for the wedding party to sit together. I had 18 bridesmaids and Cannon had 25 groomsmen, 7 of whom were over 6’5″ (insert monkey emoji with hands over face).

Just as the Friday night invitation was a reflection of the evening, Saturday night was too. The invitation was 6×8 and had a gold glitter envelope liner – the guests knew they were in for a fun and crazy night! The band brought the house down! The dance floor had acrylic flooring over the pool that we lit with LED lights, we had confetti all night, and a light up tennis shoe station where guests could trade in their heels for some kicks and hit dance floor. I even wore bedazzled Nike high tops Saturday instead of heels! We had a live painter and now have a piece of art that captured our first dance forever. We passed out #5 football jerseys (my husbands number) late night that said Team Smith on the front. Guests could customize their name on the back, so they could really let loose. As we left the reception we had a fireworks wall and more confetti that capped off the magic of the night! After we left our guests thought the night had ended, but Cannon and I danced back into the venue and we had a surprise after party with a DJ, a glow-in-the-dark body paint station, and of course, Taco Bell!

Some of my absolute favorite moments however were the small ones between all the madness, like getting ready with all my girls, and having my little brother pop in and hang out. Or watching my nephew absolutely refuse to walk down the isle because it was clear flooring over the pool and my friend having to carry him down the isle. Like my groomsmen playing a little game of touch football Saturday night before the party…In their tuxes! They were silly but so special. There is not a single thing I would have changed about our wedding weekend, from beginning to end it was truly magical. My best advice to brides is go with your gut, and stick to your guns, because in the end it is about making memories with your husband that will last you a lifetime!

Classic Southern Charm + Romance Right This Way!

Julie Paisley said it perfectly when she captured these two lovebirds: “If someone asked me to describe the perfect Southern wedding, I would just show them pictures of Katy and JT’s wedding.” And we couldn’t agree more. It’s the epitome of classic, Southern charm, with lace, lush florals and pure love between the newlyweds. See all the romance in our gallery right this way!

From Julie Paisley PhotographyIf someone asked me to describe the perfect Southern wedding, I would just show them pictures of Katy and JT’s wedding. This wedding just screamed Southern charm. From the amazing historic plantation, the perfect Southern lace gown, bowties, lush florals, darling little flower girls with floral crowns and so many special touches from family heirlooms used in the decor, it was simply perfect and Southern. The Carnton Plantation is such a special venue. Since it was spring, the gardens were in bloom setting a spectacular backdrop for this beautiful outdoor but very elegant affair.

The Surprise Proposal She NEVER Saw Coming!

Nothing brings me to tears faster than a heartfelt proposal. Especially when the groom pulls in Julie Paisley, Sugar Peach Productions, Cedarwood Weddings and Designs in Paper to help make his girl’s wildest dreams come true. What she thought was a photo shoot turned into THE “down on one knee” moment and they’ll deeply cherish the photos and film for many years to come.

She said YES!! Aaron proposed to Anna in one of the coolest ways possible! Anna agreed to model for a “photo shoot” at our Nashville venue with Julie Paisley Photography, but little did she know, an actual planned and styled surprise proposal was awaiting her. We worked with Aaron to create a youthful, fun, boho style to reflect Anna’s playful personality.

When Aaron presented Anna’s ring in front of a custom teepee, she asked “is this for real?”, thinking it was just part of the shoot. We arranged for Anna’s parents to be on Skype to witness the special moment and setting, which included a Cupid-inspired teepee, custom signage, arrows, feathers, XO balloons and a festive celebration with a mimosa bar and color-coordinated mini pineapple bundt cakes!

Dressed in Alexandra Grecco separates and a boho flower crown, Anna was naturally gorgeous. She and Aaron perfectly fit the vibrant elements of this summer outdoor proposal party, with personalized details and colorful decor designed by the Cedarwood Weddings team. Their inspiring engagement was beautifully documented with film photography by Julie Paisley and a video by Sugar Peach Productions.

Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson’s Wedding

Shawn and Andrew? They’re the definition of a power couple. Shawn, an Olympic Gold Medalist currently commentating in Rio, and Andrew, a Long Snapper for the Oakland Raiders, said “I do” with a celebration that felt uniquely and completely “them” planned by Fete Nashville. If you ask us, there’s no better way to lead up to tonight’s Olympic closing ceremonies than a trip to the wedding gallery photographed by Wild Native Co. plus a peek back at their adorable engagement.

I don’t think our wedding day

could have been any more perfect

…or any more “us.”

Andrew surprised Shawn by singing

“You’ve got a friend in me”

From Fete NashvillePlanning Shawn Johnson + Andrew East’s wedding was a dream come true! It was pretty exciting from the beginning when Andrew, a long snapper for the Oakland Raiders proposed to his sweetheart, Shawn, a gold Medal Olympic gymnast, at Wrigley Field right after she threw out the first pitch!

We started planning right away and chose the top of a hill for the ceremony, with 360’ of countryside views at a farm in Franklin, Tennessee. The alter was designed with gorgeous whitewashed antique church windows dripping with flowers, honeysuckle, and vines with more natural elements at the base including logs and lots of candles.

Jack Daniel’s barrels served as aisle markers holding the most beautiful flower arrangements of white peonies, ranunculus & dahlias, ivory garden roses, and lots of textured greens. The bridal party walked through custom barn doors and down the aisle decorated with lanterns, candles and flowers. After the “i do’s, the new Mr. And Mrs. East jumped up with excitement to the cheers from all their friends and family and danced their way back down the aisle to Stevie Wonder’s “signed, sealed, delivered!”

At the reception, Andrew surprised Shawn by singing “You’ve got a friend in me” with his father playing the piano accompaniment. As a late night snack, we had the famous Ellie’s doughnuts food truck come to serve sweet treats to all of the guests. At the end of the night, Shawn and Andrew ran through sparklers to a silver Rolls Royce. At 7 incredibly delicious layers, the wedding cake was taller than the bride!

The reception was lovely with Shawn + Andrew sitting in an ivory love seat with custom “bro” & “bug” signs on the back; their nicknames for each other. Gold calligraphy on white washed wood hanging with gold silk ribbon. Head table made up of several reclaimed wood farm tables with vintage lace runner. 25’ ladder covered in greenery installed over the head table with exposed bulbs hanging. White french urns and mercury candles with loose and flowing greens.

Guest tables: a combination of farm tables and rounds with ivory linens. Centerpieces of barn wood boxes filled with low, lush greens hanging over loose and whimsical. Shawn’s gown is a glamorous silk duchess trumpet silhouette with a soft geometrical lace bodice. Matching lace trim along the hem of her gown also appears on the removable silk satin organza cathedral train. Shawn’s gown features the Elena Zavozina signature keepsake pearls cascading down the back of her gown. Shawn also had her custom headpiece and jewelry designed by European designer Elena Zavozina designed Shawn’s dress, all nine bridesmaids dresses and Andrew’s entire custom suit

From the Newlyweds… Fete Nashville truly made my fairytale wedding come true! I don’t think our wedding day could have been any more perfect or any more “us.” From how it ran to the details, Fete Nashville thought of for Andrew and I. They blew us away and we couldn’t have been happier!!!

The Ultimate Spring Plantation Wedding

Can we please discuss how incredibly sweet Courtney and Isaac’s wedding is?! Filled with pretty pink details and a few happy tears, this is one celebration that you’re sure to fall in love with. From The Bride…May 14, 2016 was the most perfect day! The bridesmaid’s and bride started the day early with hair and make up and a few mimosa at the hotel. It was an atmosphere of joy surrounding the bride; everyone was happy and willing to make sure the day went great! After all the hair and make up was done, the bridesmaids put their Jenny Yoo dresses on and they looked beautiful. The bridesmaids and bride then headed to the venue for the bride to get dressed. The bride’s dress was a beautiful lace dress by Sareh Nouri with Badgley Mischka shoes. Her something borrowed were gorgeous diamond earrings from her Grandma, her something new was her dress, and her something old and blue was her mom’s garter that she had worn at her wedding. The bride put her dress on and her sister who was also her Maid of Honor zipped it up. While the bride and bridesmaids took all day getting ready, the groom and groomsmen spent the day relaxing and got dressed in their tuxes in about 15 minutes and then headed to the venue just before it was time for the bride and grooms first look. Once the groom and groomsmen arrived, the wedding planner, Lauren placed the groom, Isaac in the garden to await the first look with his bride, Courtney. As Courtney was walking to the garden to meet Isaac she was so excited to finally get to see her handsome groom! Their first look was such a happy moment as they got more and more exciting to marry their best friend! After the first look Isaac and Courtney took some pictures together and then met back up with their wedding party for some group pictures.

After all of the group pictures were taken it was about time to get ready for the ceremony! Guests started to arrive and Courtney and her bridesmaids were hidden away in the bridal suite until a majority of the guests were there. The wedding party then lined up at the back of the garden, where the ceremony was going to take place and it was then it hit Courtney that she was about to get married! She tried to hold back tears and shared a special moment with her dad. The ceremony then began and the music went along beautifully, all of the wedding party made it to their places and then it was time for Courtney to walk down the aisle with her dad. This was when the emotions really started flowing, Courtney was crying and Isaac teared up a little bit, this was it, they were getting married!!! The ceremony shared a beautiful message with Courtney and Isaac and all of their guests about how special the love was that was shared between a man and a women as they became husband and wife. It was a surreal and beautiful ceremony.

After the ceremony was cocktail hour which was held on the front lawn of the beautiful plantation house. There were many cute southern touches such as rocking chairs on the front porch, string lights over the lawn, corn hole boards and hors d’oeuvres of hot chicken bites and pulled pork with sweet potato grits. the ceremony was a blur as Courtney and Isaac tried to talk to all of their guests. A little ways through cocktail hour Courtney and Isaac were whisked away to take sunset pictures in a beautiful field. It was a nice chance for Courtney and Isaac to connect with each other and get to take a deep breath and enjoy the fact that they were married!! After the pictures they had their grand entrance into the reception area. The tent was beautifully decorate from chandeliers to bright flowers and gold silverware. It was like a dream. Courtney’s dad made a toast to the happy couple and blessed the food and then everyone ate. After dinner the best men and the maid of honor gave their speeches. The maid of honor wrote words to the song Bohemian Rhapsody and sang then couple a song, it was one of the highlights of the night!! From there the bride and groom cut the cake and maybe smushed some cake on each others faces and then it was time for their first dance! It was one of those things that seems like a normal thing, but was such a special time for them to connect and reflect on their amazing day. After their dance, Courtney danced with her dad and was able to thank him for everything he had done to make the wedding happen. (Courtney’s parents paid for the whole wedding) After that dance the dance floor was opened to everyone and then the party really started. It was so special to see all of the friends and family who had come out to celebrate Courtney and Isaac, it made them realize how truly loved they were. All in all it was an amazing day and there isn’t anything they would do differently!

700 Guests + 2 Gorgeous Gowns Leave Us Speechless

I see a lot of weddings, there’s no denying it. But this one right here will be fresh in my mind for months to come; it’s simply too stunning for words, let alone to forget. When 700 guests gather at the gorgeous Castleton Farms, magic is bound to happen, and that’s exactly how I’d describe these pics from Finch Photo. Peerless Films captured the live action and I thank both artists for documenting it all for our Vault – my month has been made. So without further ado, let’s see it all here!

From Finch Photo… From day one, we knew Heena and Ronak’s wedding day was going to be something incredibly special – we just never knew they would become so near and dear to our hearts (so much so that Ben, photographer, and Darla, wedding planner spent two weeks in India helping plan the wedding). Heena wanted a traditional Indian wedding and the multi-day celebrations that come with it, but being born and raised in the United States, she wanted to incorporate a few American wedding trends as well (first look, cocktail hour, late night snack and sparkler send-off). Knowing that most weddings in India take place outside, she stumbled upon Castleton Farms as the perfect outdoor wedding venue (it also didn’t hurt that the venue could accommodate their 700 guests, almost half of which traveled all the way from India). Also, instead of the vibrant colors most often associated with Indian weddings, Heena chose a more neutral color palette – blush and cream. Together, Heena and Castleton’s on-site event planner, Darla Walker, were able to dream big and bring her every wedding wish to life. From the stunning floral arrangements by Samuel Franklin to the draping and décor provided by All Occasions Party Rentals, no detail was forgotten. Each vendor was able to see Heena’s vision and execute it better than we could have ever imagined.

And let’s talk about the energy of their wedding day! Their 700 guests were entertained from sun up to sun down – starting with a traditional Indian breakfast and ending with a custom fireworks show. Even though we all suffered an early morning wake up call, things definitely livened up during the barat. Guests danced from the front gate of Castleton to the Manor, where Ronak (seated on a white horse decked out in Indian garb) greeted Heena’s family. From there, the curious guests roamed the 108-acre property during the ceremony, enjoyed an Indian lunch, and went back to their hotel rooms to freshen up. Once everyone was able to catch a quick cat nap, they joined us back at Castleton Farms for a cocktail hour in the Vineyard, a traditional Indian dinner (did we mention there were table assignments for everyone?!), dancing, late night pizza, a father-daughter dance that made us even tear up, a choreographed dance from the bridal party, fireworks, and so much more. Not only was it the most memorable day of Heena and Ronak’s lives, but it definitely goes down as of the most memorable experiences of our lives.

An Elegant + Modern Gown You’ve Got to See

A gown so gorgeous that it’ll makes your head spin? Don’t say we didn’t warn you because Bride has done just that. A modern celebration that’s chockfull of design details that you’re sure to love (like this chignon, that protea bouquet, and gorgeous greenery). It’s as chic as it is camera-ready and Austin Gros snapped the entire celebration share. See it all in The Vault!

From The Bride…For the thousand of set ups that go wrong, there’s one that goes right.

A few mutual friends had thought Tim and Leland could make a great pair and decided to play matchmakers by setting up a happy hour at a cocktail bar in TriBeca.

The night turned into a spontaneous party on Tim’s rooftop and ended in his apartment where he impressed the whole crew (especially Leland) with his fully stocked bar, his ability to make muddled cocktails on the fly and his excessive order of late night pizza.

As the night wound down, Leland raced out to catch the elevator. Tim ran after her and they exchanged numbers. Five nights later, they went on their first date. Six weeks later they weathered the Sandy Storm together. Seven months later, they went on a two week trip to India and the Maldives. A year and a half later, they moved in together. And two and a half years later, they got engaged.

Despite having lived in NYC for almost 10 years, Leland still has a soft and special spot in heart for Nashville, where she went for business school. Tim and Leland wanted a destination wedding—a place where friends and family could be together for more than a few hours. Nashville was a no-brainer and 240 people descended on the city for a weekend full of festivities including a night at the honky-tonks, a Friday night BBQ with live music, a Saturday morning Kasspatrick Klassic tennis tournament (complete with t-shirts) and an elegant Saturday night Cheekwood wedding.

The vows took place in a picturesque perennial garden with the sun peeking out just in time for everyone to walk down the aisle. The couple danced out to “Islands in the Stream” and guests followed for cocktails inside the beautiful mansion. As night fell, everyone walked into a gorgeous, draped tent with long tables, white flowers and accents of gold. Tim and Leland kicked off the party with their first dance to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder, and the rest of the night was filled with Motown tunes, an abundance of food, lots of laughter and much love.

Highlights include:
When Tim started his vows with “I, Leland, take..” and the audience erupted in laughter…
An outfit change by bride and groom for the party
The rustic and delicious naked cake with three flavor tiers
Frozen Brandy Alexanders and fries served on the dance floor late night

This Elegant Nashville Wedding’s Reception Takes Fun to New Levels

If you really want to get your guests on the dance floor at your wedding reception, take a cue from this fabulous couple who projected their favorite Nintendo Wii game, Just Dance, on the walls of their reception. Relive all the fun — and see a whole lot of pretty — thanks to Brandon Chesbro and FreshSox in The Vault!

From The Bride…When we were freshmen in college, Aaron and I happened to sit next to each other at a McGill University football game. We hit it off immediately and Aaron asked me to find him in the 5th row of the lecture hall in our Chemistry class the following week. A few months later we went on our first date to a bring-your-own wine restaurant, which kicked off the next 10-years of fun and adventures through life together. Last year Aaron planned an elaborate scavenger hunt (on our 99th “month-iversary”) involving clues and destinations related to all the things most important to us. The scavenger hunt ended in the Duke Gardens, where he proposed in a gazebo our friends had decorated with string lights and flowers.

We first met Brandon at the engagement shoot – he took us to a friend’s farm outside of Nashville a few hours before sunset on a hot July day. We got to know him and explore the farm and surrounding forest and creek and roam among cows, wild turkeys, and even an alligator snapping turtle! Aaron and I initially felt very awkward in front of the camera, giggling nervously the whole time. But Brandon was able to put us at ease and captured the moments when we looked and felt the most natural and happy.

We decided to have the wedding in Nashville, where I grew up, even though we live in North Carolina now. This meant we had to do a lot of planning remotely, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of my Mom and bridesmaids who live in Nashville, as well as the wonderful Sarah Ann Miller from Randi Events. She listened to all of our ideas and brought to life an absolutely beautiful event at aVenue with everything we wanted – not only unique and magical displays of flowers, candles, and greenery draped across wooden planks suspended from the rafters, but a frozen yogurt dessert bar from sweet CeCe’s, and a projector setup to project our favorite Wii game, Just Dance, onto the wall so all our guests could dance along. We had the time of our lives and are so thankful to everyone who made it all possible!
