Elegant Fall Philadelphia Wedding
I favorited it, pinned it, I saved the URL, and just may just have sent it around to the other editors; this Lela Rose dress is my new favorite. And this beautiful Bride absolutely rocked the elegant, chic style for her fall Philly wedding. From the Bride... Robert and I met while studying abroad in Florence, Italy in 2007 and have been madly in love ever since. Our years dating were spent between Syracuse, NY (where we attended college), Philadelphia where Robert had lived, and New York City where we now reside, but when it came time to choose a city to get married in we knew that Philadelphia had captured our hearts.
Pulling from the history and romance that seems abundant in Philadelphia, I wanted our wedding to really reflect how emotional and sentimental we are as people.
We did our first look pictures in Elfreth’s alley - one the country's oldest residential streets, dating back to 1702; a street we had often visited while dating.
I was determined to get married in an outdoor setting so I chose the Morris House Hotel; we were married at the 1787-built house, in a cobblestone covered courtyard hidden from the street. The architecture alone was perfect for a setting but we covered the small gazebo and chairs in flowers to add to the romantic feel.
Friends have been a constant part of our relationship as we consider our friends our family and have all grown up together. A very close friend of both of ours, Jon, got ordained and gave us the most beautifully spoken ceremony we could have wished for. Our friends Christina and Dave also told stories of different points in our lives that were both memorable and pivotal in the relationship we have today. There was not a dry eye in the house when our ceremony was finished.
After the ceremony we continued to the Downtown Club - a gentlemen’s club in the 1920’s sitting atop a white marble building overlooking independence hall.
We continued the romantic and antique vibe here in a 1920’s ballroom with white washed architectural details, an abundance of food and champagne, and dancing late into the night.
