Hi everyone! I’m Corey Golden: NYC-based blogger (@seegoldenstyle on Instagram), Merchandising Editor at ELLE and Harper’s BAZAAR, marketer, and most recently, interior designer (Corey Golden Design). I’ve always worn many hats…and I’m about to add *wife* into the mix! Like many modern couples, I met my fiancé Brian on a dating app…twice (once the summer before, but we only texted). Fast forward to three years later and we’re engaged, living on the Upper East Side, and planning an intimate, summer wedding in my grandparent’s backyard in Westhampton Beach, NY.  I’m so excited to take you along on our wedding planning journey, from finding the dress to choosing flower arrangements, from unexpected challenges to lessons learned, all documented here in my SMP wedding planning diary!

All about the proposal…

In May, Brian popped the question on the beach in Westhampton. Little did I know, our families had secretly flown in and were waiting to celebrate with us afterwards at my favorite restaurant, including both sets of my grandparents (who hadn’t traveled since the beginning of COVID), our parents, and our siblings. The entire weekend was a dream come true and so thoughtfully planned out by Brian. I still can’t believe he pulled off such a massive surprise without anyone spilling the beans! Ever since, we’ve been floating around on engagement cloud nine while planning our wedding for next summer. 

September 2021: 9 Months before the wedding!

We’re getting married!!! And it is finally starting to feel real. 

September has been a huge month in wedding planning…we had our engagement shoot, sent out our save the dates, went on a trip to Bermuda to celebrate our engagement, and I “proposed” to my bridesmaids. 

The engagement shoot was a true highlight. I had a vision for the photos and it was so much fun bringing that vision to life! I knew I wanted to use the photos for our save the date and loved the idea of “teasing” our venue, so we shot in front of my grandparent’s house. I wore my dream dress by Mestiza New York and had a total princess moment. We also got in some practice with our wedding photographer (@stephaniesunderland) before the big day.

I designed our save the dates on Minted and could not recommend them enough! Every little detail was perfect…from the blue foil-press, to the wax seals. I was so excited to drop them off at USPS! 

Our engagement trip to Bermuda was so special and felt like the perfect end to summer. We stayed at the Rosewood Bermuda and loved every minute. I was so shocked at how easy the trip was…from NYC, we were there in under 2 hours! A huge highlight of the trip was our boat day…we toured the island, snorkeled, and hiked up a cliff on a private beach. 

I had so much fun coming up with a creative way to propose to my bridal party! Since we’re getting married out east, I landed on custom boxes filled with “Hamptons Wedding Essentials.” The boxes included Tate’s Cookies, mini bottles of Wölffer rosé, travel-sized Coola sunscreen, a seashell hair clip, gold friendship rings with each person’s name from Retail Therapy Jewelry, and a hand-written card.

October 2021: 8 Months before the wedding!

First comes love. Then comes the dress…

I had it all planned out. Due to COVID restrictions in NYC bridal shops, only two or three people were allowed to come dress shopping with me. And between my two sisters/co-maids of honor, my mom, and my future mother-in-law, I didn’t want anyone to miss out. So I planned to visit 6 different boutiques spanning two days and bring a different group each day. Given my background in fashion, I definitely thought it would take me at LEAST two days (and then some) to make my final decision. But little did I know, the dress of my dreams would be the first one I tried on.

If I’m being honest, I was not the girl who grew up dreaming of her wedding dress (which may come as a shock to my friends and family). So when it came time to start making my dress appointments, I spent hours on Pinterest and Instagram finding inspiration, designers, and boutiques. I walked into my first appointment feeling pretty clear about what I wanted, as far as the overall look, and I even had one specific dress in mind that I thought would be the one (which I wasn’t supposed to see until day 2). 

My dress ended up being the first one I pointed to on the rack and the first one I tried on, so it definitely felt meant to be. When I walked out of the dressing room to an audience exclaiming “we’re done!”, I honestly didn’t believe it! I knew the dress was special, but I didn’t have that “bridal moment” you see in movies and no tears were shed. I was expecting two full days of dress shopping…I couldn’t wrap my head around finding THE dress on my first try!  I spent a lot of time in the dress, taking videos and photos, but it wasn’t until after the day was over that I knew without a doubt ( I ended up switching my appointments around so I could try on the dress that I originally thought would be the one, just to be sure). 

For all the brides out there looking for some dress shopping tips, here are my top 3: 

1. Do your hair and makeup!! I cannot stress this enough. It really helped me get a clearer picture of what I would look like in the dress on the actual day. And it just feels more special that way :) 
2. Do your research, but come with an open mind. It is SO hard to know what a wedding dress will look like on your body before you actually try it on. I do think it’s helpful to have a general idea of what you want before your appointments, but at the end of the day, you want the dress to be perfect for YOU. And if that means it’s not the dress you envisioned, that’s totally okay! 
3. Take photos AND videos! The photos are amazing to have, but I love looking back at the videos specifically. It’s just so special to be able to rewatch how happy I was!   

Here are the boutiques I went to in NYC: 

1. Mark Ingram Atelier – This is where I found the one! If you’re interested in seeing a certain designer, I suggest calling ahead to see if they have a trunk show coming up. This way, you can preview the latest collections that aren’t in stores yet! 
2. Spina Bride – This showroom is SO beautiful! It would be hard to try on a dress in this boutique and not feel beautiful. 
3. Bridal Reflections – This is where I thought I’d find my dress! It was definitely helpful knowing ahead of time which boutiques carry certain designers. They have a great selection of Galia Lahav.

November 2021: 7 Months before the wedding!

In the movies, creating your wedding registry is portrayed as this romantic, effortless process where you and your husband-to-be peruse the aisles of department stores, scanning as you go. But as many other brides will tell you, that is far from the reality of registry creation. 

Of the two of us, I am definitely the one who is more passionate about interiors. With the exception of a few random items for which Brian will have a strong opinion (i.e. a basket that serves no purpose), he pretty much lets me take the lead on design and trusts my eye. That being said, he had no interest in romantically scanning the department store aisles for our registry as I had envisioned. So…I enlisted the help of my future MIL! Tip #1) Creating a registry can be overwhelming, so find someone who has similar taste for you to bounce ideas off of. Bonus if they can come with you to appointments! 

Initially when I thought about our registry, I didn’t want to include much. We had recently moved in together prior to getting engaged, so we had already purchased a lot of the “typical” registry gifts. But the more that I looked around, the more I started to look at creating our registry a bit differently. Tip #2)  If you’re like us, don’t be afraid to branch out with non-traditional choices, like a beautiful set of luggage, a honeymoon fund, or an experience gift. I’m obsessed with the vintage feel of this luggage from Bric’s-it’s the perfect gift to take you from the honeymoon to all your future travels as a married couple! I included the cream set for myself and the black set for Brian. 

Tip #3) The registry is also an opportunity to upgrade pieces that get a lot of everyday use, especially in the kitchen. Think: an ultra luxe coffee machine, a matching set of coffee cups (because if you’re like us, you have a LOT of mismatched cups), or a fresh set of bakeware. We loved this nonstick gold set from Williams Sonoma, especially the pizza pan! 

Tip #4) Lastly, the registry is a great time to start thinking about future entertaining needs. Maybe you only have enough dinnerware for 6 guests, but want to be able to host 12 in a future home. We were missing a great cheese board and some key serveware pieces. Overall, I wanted to incorporate touches of natural, woven elements to bring a little bit of that relaxed Hamptons feeling to NYC, but not too much where it feels out of place in our city apartment, like this chip and dip and these coasters. 

Tip #5) My biggest piece of advice is to have fun with it! And don’t choose items just because you think you’re supposed to-focus on things you will actually use as a couple! Happy shopping!

December 2021: 6 Months before the wedding!

Picking a wedding photographer is one of the most important aspects of planning your wedding. After the cake is cut and the band goes home, photos let us relive the most special day of our lives over and over again.

We chose our photographer, Stephanie Sunderland, for a few reasons. First, her photos are beautiful. I found her on Instagram and was so impressed by her photography style. Second, our first conversation was easy and relaxed. I sensed she would be a calming presence on our wedding day. Finally, we had our engagement shoot with Stephanie and I’ve never seen Brian more comfortable in front of the camera. He actually enjoyed himself, which was unexpected for someone who notoriously hates photos.   

I sat down with Stephanie for a little Q&A on ALL things wedding photography, including her tips for finding the best lighting, where she finds inspiration, and her advice for brides-to-be:

Corey: Why did you decide to become a wedding photographer? 

Stephanie: It happened organically for me. I found a love for photography around the same time a lot of my friends were getting married. Many of them asked me to do their wedding photos and that is how it all started. However, I choose to keep doing weddings because I love being able to capture true emotions, tell a true story, and also get creative and shoot with a touch of an editorial style. It fills me as an artist and always keeps me inspired and ready to work my hardest. 

Corey: What is your favorite moment to capture? 

Stephanie: I love capturing the authentic and unposed parts of the day. The first look, ceremony, first dance, speeches, and all those beautiful in-between moments. My favorite photos happen when the couple is fully present and just being themselves. 

Corey: How would you describe your photography style? 

Stephanie: I always strive for timeless. I don’t like the terms light and airy or dark and moody when it comes to describing my style. I try to capture moments and couples as they are. I like to edit in a way that is not overly filtered or dramatically overexposed or underexposed. I want my couples to look back in 5, 10, 15, 30 years and still love their photos.  

Corey: What are your tips for finding the best lighting? 

Stephanie: For outdoor shooting, I really like back and side light or open shade. For indoors, I prefer window light or light coming in through the door. If I am ever unsure, I always take a quick circle around my subjects and look for the best light. 

Corey: What type of camera do you use? 

Stephanie: Canon 5d mark IV, Canon eos 3, and Pentax 645. 

Corey: Film vs. digital – what’s your POV?

Stephanie: I use and love both for different reasons. Film is precious, the shots are more thought out and selective. Film has a richness and depth that can’t be replicated-its tonal range and colors are just beautiful. Digital is amazing with how many shots you can take, you don’t ever miss a moment, and its low light abilities are impressive. I also love that you can edit digital to give it different looks and “feelings.” 

Corey: What are your tips for helping couples to feel comfortable in front of the camera? 

Stephanie: Don’t overthink or try to be perfect. I often have almost beautiful moments interrupted because a bride or groom needs to fix this or straighten that…if something is a bit out of place, it’s not going to ruin a beautiful photograph. Try to be present, authentically yourself, and ultimately forget the camera is even there.

Corey: Is there anything different about photographing an at-home wedding like mine? 

Stephanie: For me personally it is very similar to weddings at venues, but oftentimes a little sweeter because it is an extra special place for the couple. I love at home and backyard weddings. 

Corey: Where do you find inspiration? 

Stephanie: I find inspiration in all art forms, but especially other photography. I love looking at vintage photographs and magazine spreads. 

Corey: What is your best advice for brides-to-be?  

Stephanie: Enjoy being a bride, and especially soak in your wedding day! BE PRESENT. Although it can be stressful, it goes by so quickly and you don’t want to miss it because you are worried about things being “perfect.”

January 2022: 5 Months before the wedding!

Preparing for your wedding day is the best excuse to invest in all forms of self care–for your skin and hair, but also for your mind and body. In the last few months, I have gladly taken on the challenge of test driving workouts, products, treatments, and supplements to compile this month’s diary entry, which I’m calling Wedding Wellness. I’m rounding up all of my favorite aspects of my wellness routine and what I’ve found that truly makes me feel my best, from the inside out. This one goes out to all my fellow brides-to-be who could use a little extra TLC.

SKINCARE
If you’ve ever gotten a peek into my medicine cabinet on my Instagram, you know I am a total skincare product junkie. I love discovering new products to incorporate into my routine, but there are certain products I’ve used for years that I will always have in my arsenal. I get almost all my skincare products from Dermstore-they carry the best brands. But one tip that has nothing to do with products is drinking enough water! I recently purchased this sippy cup (made famous by the one and only Tinx) and swear it makes drinking water so much easier. I try to drink four 24oz cups per day and also squeeze lemon juice in for flavor!

AM Routine:
I always cleanse in the morning with iS Clinical’s Cleansing Complex. IS Clinical is a brand that I’ve discovered in the last few months and have become completely obsessed with. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley always raves about this brand in her interviews, and I’ll listen to just about anything she says. After cleansing, I use a combination of two of their serums – the Super Serum Advance Plus and the Hydra-Cool. The texture of their serums are unlike anything I’ve used before. My skin feels instantly softer. I follow with the Reparative Moisture Emulsion, which I use morning and night. If I have a few extra minutes in the morning, I love Skyn Iceland’s Hydro cool Firming Eye Gels. Putting those on while I have my morning matcha is the best way to start the day. For eye cream, I use SkinMedica’s TNS Eye Repair followed by Colorescience Total Eye 3-in-1 Renewal Therapy with SPF 35 in shade Medium. PM Routine:
I never, ever go to bed without taking off my makeup! I’ve been using Koh Gen Do’s Cleansing Spa Water with Shiseido Facial Cotton pads (the softest I’ve found). I also have the Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Cloths for travel and sometimes use them to double cleanse. One of my favorite products to exfoliate is First Aid Beauty’s Facial Radiance Pads. I swear, when I use these consistently, I rarely have breakouts. After cleansing with iS Clinical’s Cleansing Complex, I use SkinMedica’s HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator and iS Clinical’s Reparative Moisture Emulsion. Every other night, I switch off between the HA5 Serum and iS Clinical’s Active Serum, which is one of my favorite products. You can feel it working immediately after applying with this nice tingling sensation. I use the same SkinMedica eye cream in the evening as well. Some nights, when I have time to relax and take a bath, I love to put on iS Clinical’s Hydra-Intensive Cooling Masque.

HAIRCARE
Hair health is something I’ve been focusing on for the last year or so leading up to the wedding. I’ve tested SO many different brands, but always come back to OUAI. To start, the products smell insanely good. But more than that, I have yet to try a product from them that I don’t love. Jen Atkin is basically the queen of hair, so that comes as no surprise. I use the Medium Shampoo and Conditioner, and this Hair Treatment Mask once a week. When I’m styling my hair, I use the Leave In Conditioner before blow drying and the Texturizing Hair Spray to add hold and grit. My hair is naturally wavy, so if I let it air dry, I love the Wave Spray for beachy texture. I’ve also been taking Viviscal morning and night for the past 3 months. It has the lowest amount of Biotin that I’ve seen in a hair supplement, which is good for me because I notice that too much Biotin makes me break out.

SUPPLEMENTS
Gut health is super important, not only for feeling good but also for your skin and immune system. I’ve tried every probiotic out there, but my absolute favorite is Mary Ruth’s Organic Liquid Probiotic. It’s easy to use and super gentle. For me, it works best if I take it at night before I go to sleep (usually filling the dropper 3 times and putting it on my tongue). I’ve been using this for two years and swear by it!

HYRDAFACIALS
I have never been a believer in facials until I tried the HydraFacial. In the past, I always thought my skin was too sensitive for facials because, like clockwork, I’d break out the following day after treatment. I started seeing Ally at my dermatologist Dr. Marmur’s office Marmur Medical right after I got engaged and have seen her every 6 weeks since. I think what makes the HydraFacial unique is it combines deep cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration, so it works well for someone like me with combination skin. I leave every session feeling like a glazed donut, in the best way.

FITNESS
Hands down, my all time favorite workout is SLT. I have a love-hate relationship with the Megaformer (as I’m sure most do), but I really look forward to my workouts and leave feeling super strong. I have noticed that for me, lower intensity workouts are a better fit, and SLT truly is the best for building long, lean muscles. I try to go 3-4x per week! BROWS
For all my fellow Upper East Siders with sensitive skin, Bespoke Brows is the only place I go to get my brows waxed and tinted. They use a lavender creme based wax at a lower temperature, specifically catering to us sensitive skin gals. Whereas in the past I would notice bumps or redness post-wax, I leave Bespoke without any irritation. I’ve been getting on a schedule for every 4 weeks leading up to the wedding and I don’t touch my brows in between visits. I see Rebecca, who is also the founder, but everyone is trained by her. They are walk-in only and I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes!

LASER HAIR REMOVAL
I’ve been getting laser hair removal for about 10 years on my underarms and bikini and it is the BEST investment. I also decided to get my legs done before the wedding. My favorite spot in the city is Erase Spa-the laser blows cold air, so I barely feel the zap.

MEAL DELIVERY
My fiance and I are both super busy during the week and don’t always have the time to cook healthy meals. We’ve tried a few different meal delivery services, but Health+ With Amanda is by far the best we’ve tried! She cooks the meals fresh every week and delivers them to your door. And the menu changes weekly so you’re never bored. Think healtified Carbone spicy rigatoni, chicken parmesan and pad thai. Basically, healthy, portioned versions of dishes you love. February 2022: 4 Months before the wedding!

Grab your passport and get ready for a holiday in the sun…we’re headed to the Bahamas for #COREYSBEACHELORETTE!  I’m so excited to recap my bachelorette party & relive one of the best weekends of my life. 

CHECKING IN

Checking into The Cove at Atlantis Bahamas with my girls was honestly a dream come true. Immediately upon arrival, we were greeted by a grand, open air lobby and breathtaking views of the ocean. The hotel hooked us up with connecting rooms on the 17th floor, which my sisters/co-MOHs promptly decorated and turned into the most epic bridal suite of all time. The Cove was the ultimate bachelorette party destination, with spacious (and luxurious) rooms, beautiful beaches, yummy cocktails, and a million restaurants and activities to choose from…all in a setting that is equal parts relaxation and fun.

THE GIFTING SUITE

Since my friends traveled internationally to celebrate with me, I wanted to make their arrival a little extra special! I had so much fun putting together these gift bags with my Bahamas must-haves. Each bag included: a personalized beach bag by Quilted Koala with each girl’s name on the back, Melissa Odabash sandals, a Show Me Your Mumu coverup, Tissu Quotidien terry cloth scrunchies & personalized bucket hats with each girl’s first initial, and Coola sunscreen, lip oil, and makeup setting spray.   

DINING OUT

One meal was better than the next at Atlantis! And as a bonus, the restaurants were very accommodating for larger groups (think: private rooms). Here’s where we wined and dined: 

Olive’s – Mediterranean style with a great atmosphere, located right off the casino at Atlantis. A must order: the ​​Butternut Squash Tortelli. 

Nobu – You can never go wrong with Nobu! This was the perfect spot to kick off our big night out. Bonus: it’s directly next door to the club at Atlantis, Aura. As a surprise, my sister rented a limo to take us from The Cove to Nobu, which I highly recommend! 

Fish by José Andrés – For Bahamian cuisine and the freshest seafood, Fish is your spot. This was the perfect dinner choice for our final night, because it’s located right at The Cove. 

PLAYING TOURIST

For my bachelorette, I wanted a combination of beach relaxation and fun activities. One of the highlights of the trip was our Dolphin Cay experience. We high fived, hugged, and danced with our dolphin, all with a backdrop of the most picturesque view of the Atlantis hotel. It was a pinch me moment and a HUGE hit on the trip! 

Another must while in the Bahamas: a boat day! We booked ours through Island Yachts at Bay Street Marina, only a short cab ride from the hotel. We could not have had a better experience! As a surprise, they even decorated the boat (how sweet is that!) and had homemade drinks waiting for us on board. They helped us arrange for snacks and drinks, leaving us to dance and enjoy until sunset! 

After dinner on the final night, the girls planned a surprise evening of games in our suite and my mom sent us champagne and dessert (including a homemade SPARKLY cake from The Cove). This was my favorite part of the trip – it was just so special and I felt so loved! I highly recommend doing this on the final night, it was truly the perfect end to such a wonderful weekend.

PACKING LIST

March 2022: 4 Months before the wedding!

Gone are the days where a bride wears her ceremony gown for the entire evening. I knew I wanted to have my princess moment walking down the aisle, but loved the idea of changing into something a little slinkier before hitting the dance floor. Ladies…I said yes to the *second* dress! 

Katie May is a designer I’ve admired from afar for years, seeing her gorgeous designs on sites like Saks and Revolve. But I never knew she made custom bridal gowns until I came across one of the most beautiful dresses I had ever seen on her Instagram. I had been looking at options for months, but when I saw this dress, I just knew it was the one. 

Since Katie May makes all of her gowns in the Los Angeles design studio, I used the bespoke Bridal Box service to do everything from my apartment in NYC! The bridal box arrived in style, with dried florals, a scented sachet, cards that outline the entire fitting process, sample gowns, and everything from measuring tape to undergarments. I tried two different styles, so don’t worry, I’m not spoiling anything with these photos! 

During my virtual fitting, we took measurements, reviewed the fit of the gown, and discussed any adjustments. Once I returned the sample gowns, we officially placed my order! I cannot wait to show you the finished product, she’s a stunner.

April 2022: Wedding day is right around the corner!

With the big day just around the corner, it’s time for the first official wedding event-my bridal shower! I was fortunate enough to celebrate with 30 of my closest friends and family in my hometown of Potomac, Maryland. Let’s take a moment and relive the most special day…

The morning of the shower, thunderstorms were in the forecast *no pun intended* (despite weather.com predicting sun the entire week before), so we had to make a gametime decision to move inside. And I have to say, although the original outdoor location was gorgeous, the room we chose made the shower so much more intimate. If I had to do it over, I would’ve chosen the indoor location from the beginning! 

I worked with my grandma and the wonderful team at Minted Weddings to design the beautiful invitations. I loved the old school feeling of the umbrella, and the pink and gold color scheme set the tone for the day-of decor. 

And now for the outfit! My dress was by Bronx and Banco, heels by Stuart Weitzman, clutch by From St. Xavier, and earrings by Jennifer Behr. 

My wonderful grandmother and three aunts hosted the shower and they did such an incredible job. The decor was so dreamy, from the macaroon & flower centerpieces, to the *kiss the miss goodbye* mini mason jar favors filled with Sugarlips (my favorite candy), to the most incredible cake I have ever seen from my soon to be mother-in-law.  

Just in time for dessert, my handsome fiance arrived with flowers in hand! There were speeches, games, and so much love. 

A huge thank you to Elisenda, our talented photographer, for documenting every little detail. I didn’t even pick up my phone once during the shower, she had it covered! We booked her through Flytographer, my go-to for photographers while traveling. 

1 month countdown!!

May 2022: Weeks before the wedding!

As I write this, I am nearly two weeks away from the big day! It has made me feel so sentimental reading through my past entries and reliving my entire wedding planning journey. As my final entry, I’ve decided to share my last minute wedding tips for all my future brides-to-be!

1. Don’t check the weather until you absolutely have to (especially if your wedding is outdoors)! At the end of the day, weather is one of the few things that is completely out of your control. Checking the weather weeks before will either provide false hope or unnecessary stress. 
2. Consider hiring a dresser for the day of! I went back and forth on this, but decided to hire Francesca DiSpirito and am so happy I did. She will be by my side the entire day to make sure my gown looks perfect, while also steaming dresses for my bridal party and making everything as stress-free as possible. 
3. Schedule all of your beauty appointments (and make sure they’re in the right order)! My schedule is as follows (in order): 2+ weeks out – highlights, laser hair removal, and a well-deserved massage. 1 week out – eyebrows, facial, mani/pedi, spray tan. 
4. Don’t make any changes to your skincare routine. Now is NOT the time to try a new facial or treatment!
5. Try to be in the moment and soak it all in. Easier said than done I know, but anytime I feel even a little bit of stress, I just remind myself to enjoy it because it will be over in a flash! I am fully embracing my last two weeks as a fiancé! It is very natural that you may hit some bumps in the road during the final countdown, but at the end of the day, all that matters is that you’re marrying the love of your life in front of all the people that matter most.

Personalization was the key to this Martha’s Vineyard dream of a day! Sandy and Robert filled their wedding with nods to where they’re from, things they enjoy, and even the hotel that started it all. Timeless Event Planning effortlessly planned and designed the details (check out the rattan lighting at the reception!) and Morrice Florist put together soft-hued florals that added to the romance. In 2014, Sandy and Robert both quit their corporate jobs and moved to the little island of Martha’s Vineyard. Both were looking for summer fun and landed jobs at the Harbor View Hotel, Sandy as a wedding planner and Robert as a pool boy. They met the first week of work in front of the copy machine that Sandy had jammed, and she was instantly smitten.

After four years of dating, Robert brought Sandy back to the Vineyard to the same hotel and the same copy machine, surprising her by popping the question at where they first met.

For their wedding, personalization was key, with everything needing to have a purpose and make sense as to why they would include it in their big day. Since they both lived in San Diego, the goal was to bring a touch of West Coast vibes to the traditionally East Coast island and the hotel that started it all. 

The color palette was vibrant like the sunsets they enjoyed together, and all of the food was inspired by their favorite date nights. Their signature drinks were even called the Pool Boy and the Wedding Planner as a nod to how they first met. 

Since they had to cut the guest list short due to COVID, creating a personalized experience for their guests was important for the couple. Sandy handmade ceramic vases that doubled as escort cards for each guest. Once guests found their seats, each place setting featured a personalized letter sharing a favorite memory about them.

Paris – the City of Love and the city that has captured my heart. Long before I ever stepped foot on a quaint Parisian rue, I was fascinated by the allure of the city – its je ne sais quoi. My admiration for Paris was sparked when I was five years old and discovered that my name has French origins. Growing up, I remember watching one scene on repeat from The Devil Wears Prada – the sparkling montage of Paris at nighttime, set to U2’s “City of Blinding Lights.” I was mesmerized. My curious fascination turned into an enduring adoration when I began taking French classes and ultimately visited (and lived) in the city of my dreams. The culture, the architecture, the fashion, the cuisine, the feeling of simply strolling along the Seine or sipping a café on a terrasse – need I say amour? To me, the city represents all the things that fill life with beauty, wonderment, and purpose. It is the epitome of sheer romance, and I can’t imagine a more perfect destination for a wedding. So, from the archives of my Pinterest Boards, I have curated inspiration from how I dream of my future wedding day – a marriage of my signature feminine style and the city I adore most. I hope it fills you with joie de vivre and maybe even inspires you to take a trip to Paris to experience it for yourself!

First, tell us a little bit about the locale, season and setting of your inspo!

The City of Love (and Lights) is beautiful any and every time of year – it’s the dreamiest destination for the quintessential romantic bride! Though, nothing compares to Paris in the Spring with the cherry blossoms (cerisiers) and gardens abloom. The Jardin du Luxembourg and Jardin du Palais-Royal make exquisite backdrops for post-ceremony photo opps – exuding Parisian charm and the beauty of vibrant springtime flowers!

Can you describe your ideal type of venue to match the setting?

The Musée Rodin! This château-like museum, dedicated to the famed French sculptor, is perfect for Francophiles who want to infuse French culture and history into their special day! Plus, it features stunning indoor spaces (including a spiraling staircase) and lush gardens, making it not only breathtaking but also versatile! I envision the ceremony taking place in its enchanting gardens with the reception inside one of its palatial rooms. Or, I imagine a glass tent where the newlyweds and their loved ones dance the night away under the shimmering stars and twinkling lights of the city! 

Tell us about your color palette!

Soft blush, mauve, and cream hues are the focus of the palette – complete with pops of lilac and dusty blue!

Which wedding dress style fits your bridal aesthetic best?

Unapologetically feminine and distinctively elegant describe the essence of my dream bridal style for this Parisian affair! I picture a ball gown or trumpet-style dress with a sweetheart neckline – strapless or off-the-shoulder! I’m thinking of a Monique Lhuillier or Marchesa that features a little drama – think Monique Lhuillier’s iconic floral print gowns or Marchesa’s use of 3D floral motifs. I can even imagine a soft, blush gown for this occasion!

In a few words, describe the overall look and vibe of your inspiration. How do you want your guests to feel?

Ethereal romance, a refined Parisian-inspired occasion with touches of fairytale whimsy. Florals are the centerfold of the décor, and I imagine dainty crystal accents! I want guests to feel swept away by the enchantment of the day and the city! 

This couple celebrates their Lake Como wedding in the sweetest of ways, with their baby daughter! Elena Renzi planned the waterside affair filled with food, fun, family, and friends.  The neutral color palette of blooms by Ratti Flora beautifully complimented the natural beauty of the location, and everything was artfully captured in the imagery by Koman Photography.  Visit the full gallery for a look at all the lovely.

From Koman Photography… Three months after we met for the first time on a video call with Elina and Sam, they had their first baby Sofia, such a wonderful event! We fell in love with this lovely couple and their little girl and made sure that their wedding day was going to be simply perfect. In Persian culture, weddings are not to be celebrated quietly and discreetly but, on the contrary, they need to be joyful and lavish, which is why Elina and Sam chose to get married in the gardens of one of the most luxurious villas on Lake Como, Villa D’Este.

With its elegant structure that conveys its majesty at first glance, its large and beautifully designed spaces, and its access from the lake, it was the perfect location for such a sumptuous wedding. Organizing a Persian wedding is anything but simple, but it is the attention that tradition pays to the single detail that makes it truly impressive. Traditionally, couples pronounce their vows seated at a low table with a strong symbolic value: no one but the bride and groom and their loved ones may touch it, not even the wedding planner, who must leave it to the people in charge to bring the precious tablecloth and richly set the table.

On the table, the objects that stand out above all others are the mirror and the candelabra, representing light and fire each, two elements of great symbolic value. Other objects, some of which arrived directly from Iran, include a tray of spices, representing abundance; hard-boiled eggs, symbolizing fertility; crystallized sugar cones, invoking a sweet life for the bride and groom; decorated bread, the Koran and so on. Particularly moving is the moment when the bride and groom promise each other a conjugal future full of sweet words by covering each other’s lips with honey.

Did someone say magic? Because that’s what this whimsical garden wedding is all about! The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe was the perfect stage for this bride and groom’s utterly gorgeous day with a feminine ambience. Native Poppy infused the space with florals that POP and feel like summer. It all couldn’t have been possible without the seamless work of Simply Gorgeous Events. Texture, color, and love unite in the full gallery, captured by Dear Lovers!

From Dear Lovers… The designer, Kayla of Simply Gorgeous Events, wanted to bring life and color into the garden space and they did just that and more!

The vision infused The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe with texture, color and blooming summer which resulted in the most utterly magical day. It was an extremely feminine ambiance with a warm color palette that braided lilac, blush, peach and rose together. There were so many flowers, it felt like the summer bursting into the wedding.

The bridesmaids wore mix matched dresses in patterned shades of blue that complimented the splash of pink in the florals beautifully. The bride and groom kept things classic, with the groom wearing a tuxedo and the bride donning a timeless off-the shoulder gown with sheer sleeves and a sleek updo.

The newest addition to Saint Clements Castle & Marina, River’s Edge was created to mimic the historic exterior of the estate but boasts some beautifully modern upgrades like hardwood flooring, exposed wood beams, and crystal chandeliers. Oh, and did we mention that it has panoramic windows that showcase unrivaled views of the Connecticut River and let the gorgeous natural light pour in. Venue: Saint Clements Castle

A whimsical color palette on Italy’s Lake Como feels like the chicest of fairytales.  Villa Regina Teodolinda set the stage for the dreamy day, and Figli Dei Fiori filled every moment with showstopping blooms.  You can feel the love perfectly captured in the incredible imagery by Duet Friday, see it all in the full gallery.

From Duet Friday… Love story full of charm, glamour, nice details, and sweet accents – That is the wedding of Linda and Andrea. Having taken place in a splendid residence – Villa Regina Teodolinda which with its long history and the attractiveness that the centuries have given, a romantic allure and authentic atmosphere, the wedding turned out to be classy and stylish, modern and full of feelings and touching details starting from the choice of the color shade to match the villas interior to the trendy but at the same time sophisticated approach to everything. Though the bride and the groom met each other on the dating app, the desire for a classical wedding ceremony inspired them a lot. A two-year-long story when the lovers were head over heels in love with each other was followed by a romantic proposal on the roof of a friend’s house. And the desire to crown it all in the most breathtaking and amorous place was the logical conclusion. But the search for the location was at the same time based on practical approach and aesthetic ideas of the bride. Being situated just three hours from home – lake Come seemed ideal, especially taking into consideration the Italian roots of the groom. Lake Como is the halfway from the south of Italy and Switzerland, comfortable for all the guests to arrive at, and the best meeting point ever from each corner of the earth. Villa Regina Teodolinda is immersed in a wonderful English garden that stands out for about nine thousand square meters with its large lawns interspersed with shaded areas. In this frame of peace and serenity. The bride is in love with the lovely details that such a historic villa can offer as a compliment.

The interior rooms with splendid frescoes have this peculiar Italian bauble that can’t be copied. It appears as the result of aging mixed with the surrounding beauty and the spectacular panorama of the lake. The green frame of the Italian garden gave the ceremony and the banquet organized outside a true romantic note and sweet accent of eternal fashion. Lake Como is the breathtaking background that embraces and links together all the elements into unique environments and time knots. The choice of the photographer was based on her talent to reflect the feelings, to underline the details, and to add sparkling magic of film photography in order to make the photos a starting point as the new happy end story which flows into family life with no end. Airy and tender pics underline the harmony of the event and its fashion. The love of the photographer for the details which are perfectly whirled with the emotions is accrued in a miraculous way not overwhelming the impress help to practically penetrate into the mood and to feel the emotions on your skin simply admiring each element of the wedding.

Flower decor and tableware create an impact but don’t tear the attention from the couple. A well-balanced perfection gave a fantastic result. The color of the lake blue with a dust of grey and the sparkle of the sun continued in the most significant elements of the wedding. The dusty blue hortensias dominating the tables are like the splashes of the lake cascades so common along the banks. Numerous petals form the movement of the water. The magic continues as soon the last sunray disappears… and the lights of the garlands tangled with the branches of the tree and chandeliers above the table with their candle lights sparkle like the diamonds of pure water. The sigh… the gasp of excitement… and the fairytale on the lake become real and at the same time fragile. It is for sure a dream wedding with all the nice things that make the bride happy and add a sparkle in her eyes. And the reaction of the guests has totally proved this wow effect and the impact of the beauty and the sophisticated bride’s choice.

From East Made Co… This entire gallery was shot on medium format film, and my goal in design was to infuse a luxury, East Coast-inspired style into the mountains of Park City, at an iconic ranch venue, 4U Ranch. Overlooking the changing autumn leaves and gorgeous mountainside, every element was truly a juxtaposition of opulent and rich design elements.

From the velvet tablecloth to the rich floral tones, and from the beaded Marchesa gowns to the moody yet modern sugar-flower cake, each detail was overflowing with a luxury wedding feel. Our bride wore a nude dress with voluminous tulle sleeves and beaded bodice, and her bridesmaid donned the most magnificent midnight blue cape we’ve ever seen.

Straying from typical tradition and allowing the bride and bridesmaid to both shine, there could be no better wedding fashion for the truly confident bride.

This stunning day at Chateau de Villette was the perfect combination of modern and ornate! Lush florals and elaborate paper goods took stage – and it’s a contrast we love oh so much. Smith James Events and Kaleb Norman James Design knocked this day out of the park to create the French fairytale you’ve all been waiting for. From Tory and Lauren of smith + james events… When designing this shoot we took our cues from the Chateau grounds and interior design, which is truly something to behold. Napoleon Bonaparte’s wife’s bathtub resides in the master bathroom. Enough said.

We focused our design on the combination of the strong, clean lines of the perfectly manicured chateau gardens coupled with the ornate, over the top styling of the chateau interior – we already mentioned the bathtub, but the dining room’s molding is also pure perfection. And we let this juxtaposition guide the overall aesthetic of the shoot.

When it came to the table design, we selected the dining chair because of its modern clean lines. And we loved the unexpected pop of black the chair brought, particularly when photographed in the soft morning light against the beautiful stone Chateau. The lushness of centerpiece floral and the ornate paper goods added more of that contrast we love so much.

Now, let’s talk about the fashion. We fell in love with the overall clean, classic design of the moire silk gown our bride wore. But our favorite part was the dramatic draping and an elongated train, both so exaggerated and so fabulous. The groom wore a beautiful suit and classic bow tie. When we found out that our models were celebrating their one year anniversary the day after our shoot we basically broke out into show tunes. Perhaps it was kismet. We certainly think so.

Romantic modern at its finest, this Great Marsh Estate has stolen our hearts.  Adriana Marie Events planned a day filled with dreamy details incorporating neutrals, gold, matte black, and velvet touches for refined elegance.  From the grounded flowers filling the ceremony space to a reception space brought to life by blooms, Floral & Bloom Designs made everything feel magical.  The spectacular photos by Megan Noll Photography, are sure to stand the test of time.  You can see them all in the full gallery.

From Megan Noll Photography… Allison and Kyle wanted to achieve a look that was romantic, timeless, yet effortlessly modern. We sought to find a venue that would embody a romantic character that we would shift to have a modern undertone. They ended up falling in love with the architecture of Great Marsh Estate, and we did just that. From the invitation suite to the wedding day, we incorporated taupe, lush neutrals, matte gold, and a touch of matte black and velvet elements for a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The velvet pieces were some of Allison’s favorites which started with a black velvet belly band on the invitation suite and ended with rich taupe velvet table napkins of the place settings. Leaning into the structure of the stables, complimenting with lush greenery, and drawing the guest’s eye to statement pieces like their custom “Let’s make pour decisions” was key in balancing the space. The result was a whimsical, timeliness, yet memorably modern event that will stand the test of time. Allison and Kyle had a gorgeous Great Marsh Estate wedding. Great Marsh Estate is a stunning wedding venue in Bealeton, Virginia, just one hour outside of Washington D. C. Filled with heritage and charm, Great Marsh Estate is a Georgian Mansion with restored period features.

The venue is over 121 acres of perfectly pruned lawn and woodland. Great Marsh Estate is equipped with beautiful suites for getting ready. The Stables reception hall is elegant and chic, and guests loved the fire pit area outside. Allison and Kyle had a beautiful wedding ceremony on the front lawn. The weather was perfect for the outdoor ceremony, and the backdrop was perfect. After, guests enjoyed the cocktail hour outdoors. Following the cocktail hour, guests moved indoors to the Stables for dinner and dancing. It was truly a perfect Great Marsh Estate wedding!

Proof that wine country wedding dreams do come true! Julia and Kyle chose a venue that was already filled with an abundance of natural beauty, and the result was a sunsoaked celebration offering stunning alfresco moments with a dress to match the vibe. A Savvy Event and Vignette Floral Design made the most out of the landscape with fun seating arrangements and fresh floral motifs. From Rebecca Yale Photography… Julia and Kyle met when they were both living in NYC and two of their closest friends were dating each other and they decided to set them up. Kyle reached out and organized drinks at Apotheke – a very cool speakeasy in Chinatown – and Julia was impressed with the choice! Soon after they made the plans, Kyle texted back saying he had a conflict that night and would have to postpone. Julia wasn’t free for a few weeks, so Kyle quickly changed his plans to make it work. Soon after, Kyle started keeping a calendar…

Julia and Kyle were married at a private estate in Napa, CA on August 28th. Like many 2021 couples, their wedding was originally scheduled for 2020 and had to be pushed a few times due to COVID, but the celebration was well worth the wait! They were joined by nearly 200 of their closest friends and family for a garden celebration with sprawling views of the Napa Valley.

The couple chose to skip a traditional wedding party and invited their friends to casually join them for getting ready and told them to wear whatever they felt best in! Their “Napa valley chic” dress code resulted in guests showing off in their best floral prints, which perfectly suited the bright florals designed by A Savvy Event and Vignette Florals.

The bride had a dress mishap a week before the wedding with her original dress not being tailored properly and luckily with the help of her stylist, Gabrielle Hurwitz, was able to find a gorgeous last minute replacement that perfectly suited the garden-vibe of the wedding. The bride has a love for jewelry and in addition to her traditional silver band for the Jewish ceremony, she wore her grandmothers vintage ring and had a sapphire and diamond band made. The bride honored the memory of both her mother and grandmother through the ring and by wrapping a piece of fabric from her late mother’s gown around her bright floral bouquet. Her mother had a love of foraging mushrooms and Vignette florals surprised the bride later in the day with some white mushrooms on the head table interspersed amongst the flowers in her honor.

The bride had an emotional first look moment with her father before having a first look with her husband-to-be, who wore a casual chic open-neck shirt with no tie under a beautifully tailored blue suit. The couple were joined by their families for their ketubah signing in the beautiful grand room of the private estate pre-ceremony. The ceremony took place in the front garden and the couple modernized the Jewish tradition of the bride circling the groom by both circling one another.

Post ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour and their signature drinks on the lawn next to the ceremony before making their way over to the side of the property for dinner and to take in the stunning views of Napa valley. Guests feasted on delicious farm to table cuisine and local wine before making their way over to the dance floor, where the couple shared a first dance and then after a quick traditional mother-son dance, the bride and her father opened up the dance floor with Lizzo’s Juice, inviting all their guests to the floor so they could start the horah. Guests danced the night away and took home miniature babkas made by the bride’s friend, “the babka bitch.”

From Julia… We went away for the weekend to spend time with Kyle’s extended family. We arrived a day late and met them on the beach for lunch. Once we arrived and saw no cars in the parking lot, Julia started to realize…the weekend with the family was all a ruse! Kyle proposed on the beach, and then we spent the rest of the weekend celebrating just the two of us.

When our initial Healdsburg, CA venue had fire damage, we couldn’t find another venue we liked for months. Our wedding was approaching and we thought we would have to settle. Luckily, Julia mentioned to a family friend that we were having this predicament. As we were boarding the plane from NYC to SF for a final venue search, we got an email that this family friend happened to sit next to someone at a holiday party that just got married at a exclusive private estate in Yountville, Napa. By chance, our planner and designer, Kelly McLeskey-Dolata of A Savvy Event, knew the only planner allowed to do events there. She got permission for us to view it on Sunday en route back to NYC and with a huge sigh of relief, we had *finally* found the perfect venue. Little did we know there was actually *no rush*, as we postponed our wedding due to the pandemic from September 12th, 2020 to August 28th, 2021. Luckily, all of our venues, beloved vendors, and friends/family were able to make it in 2021.

Although we were disappointed that we didn’t get to have our wedding in 2020, we kept perspective as we paused planning – a wedding is a blessing and is not a curse – whenever it happens, it will be what it will be. The world was going through so much pain that it felt small and we treated it as such. However, 22 months is definitely too long to plan a wedding – We would much prefer less time to anticipate it!

Pro tip – We asked our loved ones not to mention the pandemic/covid in their toasts as our marriage is not defined by it, and as we relived the day in our wedding film by Sean Kenney, we were really happy that we did this. It could have easily been 2019!

Julia’s favorite moment was walking down the aisle with her dad and seeing her community merged with Kyle’s community looking back at her. In that moment, she described “I felt overwhelming gratitude and joy for all those that came before us, the present moment, and a huge amount of relief that we were able to pull it off and have almost everyone we wanted there celebrate us as we step into our marriage.”

Kyle’s favorite moment was when dinner was starting and they announced our entrance – all of our family and friends got up from their tables and started cheering and high-fiving us. The love and energy was palpable and made the start of dinner a total blast!

Another pro-tip: if you want this to be modernized, tell your MC! The default can be very gendered to “Mr. and Mrs…”)

Julia’s advice to future couples… Don’t sweat the small stuff and it’s *mostly* all small stuff. Know that you’re in control. Invite who you want, set boundaries with those you don’t want to include (be it your bachelor/bachelorette party, the getting ready portion, or the entire event), and remember that it’s about you as a couple and not anybody else. Most importantly, keep finding each other throughout the celebration so you can enjoy moments together! Since our wedding celebration was spread out in 4 days, every night we went back to our room to debrief, relax and set the tone for the following day. This was one of the highlights for both of us! Also, we highly recommend beginning your wedding day with a meditation – it’s important for grounding and to walk into the day present. The goal is to feel PURE JOY! Lastly, wake up a few mornings before and simply surrender and trust that your months of planning and (if you have one) your planning team has got this. It makes it 100 percent more enjoyable to feel almost like a guest and not responsible for the details!

Lastly: Julia had bought her wedding dress right after their engagement from Romona Keveza’s Flagship in NYC. Unfortunately, 8 days before the wedding she had to make a challenging decision not to wear that dress after shipping it to California because it wasn’t fitting smoothly and looked undone – a style that doesn’t work with the fabric, she learned from The Wedding Detailors founder, Heidi. Julia thought to herself: if this is the worst that’s going to happen, this is pretty good. She found a last-minute dress in California, had it altered at a Dry Cleaner, and didn’t look back.

From Erin Wilson Photography and Films… Brooklyn and Zach had to go through several changes for their wedding from a venue change to changing their dance location from indoors to outdoors at the last moment due to covid precautions and in the end, they ended up having the most fun elegant day to remember.

Brooklyn loves shades of pink and embraced the modern details of her venue and blended her soft artful style by implementing an abundance of soft blush florals, silky dark rose bridesmaids dresses, her bridal gown full of embellishments, candlelight and wine, and delicate flowers and their artful cake with sculptural details.

Their wedding day took them from an outdoor ceremony to a romantic indoor dinner reception to an extremely fun outdoor dance party with their band under the stars with the views of downtown Little Rock on their custom dance floor with pink velvet-soft seating. After all the changes and hurdles that Brooklyn and Zach went through they ended with the most fun and memorable day with all their favorite people and the loveliest ceremony where they joined lives together. They are just so beautiful together.

Calling all Summer House fans, boy do we have a treat for you. Like many of us, you may have tuned in to the explosive season finale as we finally got to witness Kyle and Amanda officially tie the knot! After a rollercoaster of a season, we couldn’t be more excited to bring you a behind the scenes look at what the cameras didn’t show you. We sat down with their amazing NYC-based planner (who actually planned my wedding, so I speak from experience!), Julie of Julie Lindenman Events to break down every unseen moment! Dying to found out more about that florist drama? How Amanda and Kyle actually felt the morning of? Plus a few hilarious bloopers!? What is it like working around a reality production crew while trying to make sure the wedding also feels authentic and meaningful?

One of the important conversations we had with the film crew was that we were planning a wedding for Amanda and Kyle and Bravo’s role was to remain as a  “fly on the wall” – no input or anything “redone” for TV.  This would be a live event/true to life as all real weddings are, and they were simply there to document it.  Kyle and Amanda had this mindset from the get-go too, so the entire day was planned authentically to them and their love story.  Kyle and Amanda are friends with the crew and are used to having cameras around them all the time but from a wedding production point of view, it added another element of pressure knowing we were being watched!  So much goes on behind the scenes that guests never know about, and we weren’t sure what they planned to capture and show.  

Any specific moments that you or the guests could really feel the impact of simultaneously filming?

Most people are used to videographers at weddings, only the cameras are much smaller and the crew is typically two people.  The TV crew was much harder to hide, so one thing we made sure of was that they all dressed the part (suits etc!) so they blended in as much as possible.

Amanda and Kyle had a rough season this year. Although many suspect their arguments were just a snippet of their relationship. Can you share some of the happier moments that you had with the couple?

One of the first things I picked up on when I met Amanda and Kyle was how down to earth they both were.  They’re authentic and good humored and they truly complement one another.  They were both so invested in making sure their wedding weekend was great for their families and guests and they wanted to enjoy the process as much as possible (despite a ton of stress in their lives which the show highlighted!)  Our first day meeting in the Batula’s backyard was a lot of fun.  Kyle and Amanda were fostering puppies at the time and they had driven all of them to NJ so we could have this meeting together, and Amanda was simultaneously telling me about her wedding aesthetic, cleaning up puppy poo, and somehow looking beautiful without a stitch of makeup on.  Both parts of that couple manage so much and make it look easy.  They also did a great job of incorporating their parents into the planning process and decision making.  Both Kyle’s and Amanda’s parents are so lovely; managing family dynamics can add another dimension to wedding planning, but theirs were part of the process throughout and it was fun to see how they added touches here and there for their respective families (making sure a “first look” with Amanda and her dad was added into the timeline, incorporating a mini lobster roll as a nod to Kyle’s New England upbringing – those types of things!)

Kyle seemed to be pretty stressed in the weeks leading up to the wedding, understandably so. As are many brides and grooms! Was he able to relax and enjoy the day?

I echo this – weddings can be so stressful, let alone during a pandemic, multiple postponements, coming down with COVID 2 weeks before your own wedding, and so many other planning hurdles we faced.  Even the days prior to the wedding there was so much going on, but that day both Amanda and Kyle were cool as cucumbers and just went with the flow.  They definitely were present on their wedding day and enjoyed being with their families and friends, taking it all in, and celebrating.  It was fun to watch the first look unfold on the Summer House finale and see the emotions they both shared.  There’s a whole lot of love between those two.

We have to know more about the florist drama! Can you share any more about this and about the new florist they found?

The first florist was not exactly someone in the wedding industry.  During a floral presentation, we gave them feedback that they didn’t like and they abruptly backed out.  A friend of Kyle and Amanda’s introduced Dearest Rachel and she moved mountains to be available and take on their wedding.  Her style, personality, and approach were so much more in line with the clients’ and it ended up being a perfect fit.  Later on Rachel and I realized we had actually worked together on her very first wedding years ago!  She deserves good karma and endless bottles of champagne for coming through the way she did. 

Any funny or blooper style moments you can share?

It was the peak of when those big red spotted lanternflies were making headlines about being an invasive species.  All of the news said if you see one to kill it.  I hadn’t seen a single one until I made the trip to NJ for the week – all week long I was smashing those bugs in their backyard!  I didn’t want them making an entrance at the wedding!

I would say the client catching COVID 2 weeks before their wedding was just wild.  All of the final things on their To Do list suddenly had to be done virtually since they had to quarantine.  Dance lessons were even virtual!  I’m just so glad they got better in time for the wedding (and tested negative of course!)

What do you love most about Kyle and Amanda as a couple and as a client?

Working with Amanda and Kyle was a lot of fun – they both have a great sense of humor and are incredibly down to earth and sweet.  They were really invested in their day fitting their vision, but had this incredibly calm and humble approach because of the hand they had been dealt being engaged through the pandemic.  Amanda might go down in history as the chillest bride ever.  She was so calm, she was even comforting me at one point!  I watched them turn lemons into lemonade (or Loverboy?!) time and time again throughout the planning process.  Between shuttle driver shortages, increased costs, unavailable rental product, and simultaneously filming their show all summer while working and planning a wedding, there was so much that could have gotten them down, but they stayed positive.  When you manage so many ups and downs like that as a team you come out stronger than ever, and I feel like their support of one another really shone through.  As the wedding neared we decided to add language to the menu cards with the help of Swell Press that read “We’ve waited 1,120 days for this, party accordingly” – and they did!

First Dance Song and its meaning to Amanda & Kyle?

Mango Tree by Zac Brown Band.  I had actually never heard of their song until they told me what it was and I absolutely loved it.  It has the most romantic and sweet lyrics:

“I love you, Say that you love me too, And we can turn the whole world upside down, Just us two, Nobody else will do, ‘Cause baby, you’re the only one for me”

Aside from the bride and groom, who was the best dressed at the wedding?

I might need them to answer this one! But I would say some of the cast members looked great.  Personally I was a fan of Andrea Denver’s look.  I also loved the bridal party’s attire, I’m a sucker for a champagne dress and all of them were beautiful.

Also fun to note that both Amanda and Kyle had outfit changes – it made for some awesome late night photos!

Who was more emotional during the vows, Amanda or Kyle?

From where I was standing, Kyle.  But they both got emotional at different times throughout the day/night.  During the ceremony I caught Amanda wiping away Kyle’s tears – if that isn’t the sign of amazing and heartfelt vows I don’t know what is.

How was Carl as the officiant?

Carl did an amazing job as wedding officiant.  For someone who had spent years witnessing their journey, he seemed like the perfect person to marry them.

Any Summer House-ers dominate the dance floor?

Everyone had so much fun.  I didn’t even know until seeing the photos that one of the band members penetrated the crowd and was doing splits on the dance floor!  People were being lifted up, drinks were flowing, the dance floor was packed… at the end of the night no one wanted to leave!  We finally transitioned to an outdoor after party on the Batula’s stone patio so that we could start the event breakdown.  There was a DJ and we tray-passed milk bar treats.

More from Julie Lindenman Events… When I met Amanda and Kyle in 2021, they had already had 3 other venues and 5 other dates from pandemic postponements and changes. It was time to find a new plan and get married already! They wanted a fail safe option and Amanda’s parents’ home in New Jersey became just that. They chose the backyard where we would first meet and measure for a sailcloth tent as the backdrop and we decided to map the entire day out from there.

Their original venue was sleek and had views of the city, so we wanted to incorporate that New York style into a backyard celebration. Sophisticated and modern in style, Amanda was really drawn to the color teal – it kept showing up in all of her inspiration! She also loved neutrals and romantic touches, so the design became a marriage of modern, fresh, and romantic. We used the color black as an accent throughout to balance the feminine florals and lighter tones.

Amanda’s background is in graphic design and she’s super talented (check out the Loverboy branding!). So she was really invested in the printed materials and signage of her day. We worked with the amazing Swell Press to create gorgeous invitations with that special teal color we loved. Amanda was very involved in that part of the process; we worked with Swell Press to select specific typefaces and modern shapes/textures all while using our whites, neutrals, teal, and black color palette. While Swell Press handled the invitations, escort cards, place cards, and menus, Amanda took on some DIY projects of her own, such as the escort card boards and specialty cocktail signs to name a few.

Amanda and Kyle wanted to focus on keeping the event fun, so a great band for plenty of dancing was a must and we added in a fun disco ball installation over the dance floor. We even added wax seals to each escort card that read “let’s party”! While guests were in the tent dancing we quietly set up a photobooth outside which became something fun for guests to explore and take part in. Amanda’s parents have bistro lights over their back patio area, so we decided to use string lighting within the tent so it felt like a continuation of their home. Incorporating a black and white checked dance floor helped elevate the space. The attire we settled on was Creative Black Tie Optional, and guests really showed up. It was another great way to elevate a “backyard” wedding.

There were lots of personalizations, such as having their good friend and Summer House cast mate Carl Radke officiate their wedding. Plus we had to incorporate Kyle and Amanda’s product Loverboy on the bars and in the specialty cocktails.

You won’t believe the way baby’s breath was used at this Bella Collina wedding! Heather Benge Events dreamed up a heavenly day with a dreamlike quality that feels as if you’re inside a fairytale.  Baby’s breath installations by Eva La Florist and Intrigue Designs create a feeling of walking through the clouds, and Lia Giannotti perfectly captured the ethereal elegance in her artful imagery.  You can take a closer look at all the lovely in the full gallery.

From Lia Giannotti… Stepping into Bella Collina and taking in her grandeur makes you feel like you’re immediately transported into the Italian Countryside. All of the elements of this shoot came together in a truly opulent way. The lush neutral-toned florals, delicately detailed cake and romantic décor provided the perfect balance to the venue’s rustic charm. It was luxury at its finest, from large billowing containers of lush florals to the most beautiful baby’s breath installations that made the scene feel whimsical, romantic, and dreamlike. It was a feast for the eyes and had so many intricately crafted details. The neutral tones of blush and white stood out in beautiful contrast against the robust architecture of the surroundings. Adding elements of beautiful emerald green elevated the space and made it feel warm, rich, and inviting. My advice to couples who are inspired to step outside of the traditional, and create a more modern, yet soft, romantic, and whimsical look is to reach out to vendors who know how to create this look. They can help you brainstorm your visions and bring them to life. Also consider using the venue’s architecture to inspire floral installations and elements, such as the exquisite baby’s breath swaths wrapped around the columns, as well as creating a stunning focal backdrop for the cake. Used in this way, they softened the scene, and added beautiful visual interest, all while really bringing in the wow factor. Consider adding special touches, such as an intimate lounge area, inviting guests to sip their champagne, take in the scene, or mingle with other guests. This little nook was the perfect backdrop for placing lush emerald green furniture, surrounded by more opulent florals and candles, creating an experience, and an inviting space for all the guests to enjoy.

From Eva La Florist… Inspired by the grandeur of timeless luxury, the design featured crystal and gold materials with lush florals in a neutral color palette of white, ivory, and muted blush. The elegant details interwoven throughout the design created a timeless and romantic atmosphere. Flowers include English Garden Roses, Hydrangeas, and Orchids. The large pillars feature floral installations with lush baby’s breath wrapped around the pillars, cascading to the ground, creating a dreamy and romantic ambiance. Wedding cake designs often use flowers on the cake, but I love using flowers to create a focal for the cake. For this design, we created a floral installation using fresh baby’s breath that cascaded to the floor and placed the wedding cake on a stand with large golden rings to accent the cake. The dresser and candles added warmth and romance to the completed look.  For couples looking to create a luxurious environment, look to large-scale containers and lifted floral arrangements that allow your guests to see across the table while enjoying the beauty of the centerpiece display. From Ari of Eleanors Bridal… Sia is an unreleased gown from our newest bridal collection, and we are excited to see the styling and imagery that brought her to life. Our gowns are created for modern brides that want a unique spin on traditional silhouettes while remaining elegant and fashion-forward. Seeing the whimsical nature of the inspiration board for this Bella Collina styled shoot led us to know this gown belonged in the series. The texture and movement of Sia’s sleeves contrasted with the rich and robust architecture of Bella Collina created a beautiful juxtaposition that gives brides the opportunity to explore an entirely new style.

From Michelle Crawford of My Bakers Cottage Cakes… Bakers Cottage Cakes always encourages our couples to share details that inspire what they envision for their special day. Whether their inspiration comes from their wedding invitations, venue, color scheme, or time of year they’re getting married, our goal is to create the cake of THEIR dreams! For this beautiful collaboration, we poured through the inspiration photos provided for this shoot. We focused on the details, both small and large, the invitations, the bridal shoes, color palettes, furniture rentals, florals, etc. The first thing that jumped out to me, was the use of textures, along with a clean, white-on-white color palette with subtle hints of green. The vibe was a mixture of unconventional & traditional details. So while designing our sweet girl, (all of our cakes get names & this one was named Daisy, for her hand painted flowers), I wanted to use texture to add an element of depth to the design. We also added hand-molded pieces of floral applique, that were torn on the edges to mimic antique pieces of fringed fabric. We then rolled our Fondant pieces that would cover the cake with a basket weave pattern. We tore the edges of these fondant pieces as well, and then gently wrapped the cakes. We were going for a visual design that gave the impression of being wrapped in an antique, sunbleached quilt. Instead of adding sugar flowers, we decided to hand paint the florals, using soft muted colors, and a technique that would make the paint crack in places, so it would add a patina to our desired look. To finalize our design, I created a mold of a family cameo pin, and we used it as a “button”, placing it where the fondant overlapped each other, completing the wrapped “fabric” design.

From fashion statements to floral installations, today’s Sunstone Winery editorial is jam packed with must-see inspiration from start to finish. Every detail was thoughtfully curated by the talented team at Type A Society, with the help of some botanical magic by Le Bloomerie. Trust us, friends – the full gallery speaks for itself! From Tara Hodges Photography… Refined and classic elegance perfectly describes this summer inspiration shoot at Sunstone Villa and Winery. Lucious dusty pink and white florals were used throughout the day from the flowing garden style bouquet to the show stopping canopy above the reception table.

Every detail was thoughtfully curated for the perfect summer wedding day. Invitations from Littla Carabo Studio were classic and refined with a bold navy envelope to add a modern touch.

From the jewelry to the shoes, the bride’s details were vintage with a touch of modern glam. The wore a groom classic blax tux.

The guests waved green velvet ribbon streamers in the air to celebrate the bride and groom as they said “I do.” And for the reception, The bride changed from a formal wedding gown to a party dress is always such a great idea. Not only does it give you another look for the day, it’s also provide more comfortable attire for the party portion of the day.

A champagne tower is always a classic addition to the reception. And what could be a better ending to a perfect day than a dreamy, exit car? Thoughtful, creative touches like these make your wedding day unique and memorable.

Everything is coming up roses at this beautiful Texas wedding.  SilentTea Studio planned a day teeming with elegant details from a swoon-worthy floral circular ceremony installation to a ballroom filled with flowers by Root and Bloom Floral Design.  Every moment is artfully captured in imagery by Studio OPiA, you can see the whole day unfold in the full gallery.

From the groom… During the days when we were friends, it sometimes came to my mind that whoever marries this girl is going to be so lucky. You are not only so beautiful but also with the best personality and high IQ. You are perfect. Now, who is the luckiest one? Within the 4 years, we are together, I don’t think we ever fight, not once. If God has a plan for me, this is the best plan.

From the bride… The best part about the relationship is that I can be who I am. And during the time we were waiting for our postponed wedding, we had our first son. We moved from Dallas to Salt Lake City, taking our newborn son and two cats with us, all on our own. We experienced a lot from the biggest move of our lives, and you showed me what a strong and responsible man you are, as a husband and as a dad.

The design is all about a princess’s wedding dream coming true. The epic mansion, ball gown, and 1,600 roses. The entire wedding is filled with roses, the traditional wedding flowers that symbolize ultimate romance and unconditional love. And fall foliage gives the floral design a warm fall touch.

Today’s southern nuptials planned by Ashley Rhodes brought a tropical twist to Lowcountry. Em Creative Floral created the most stunning arrangements teeming with tropical foliage, along with a classic all-white bouquet made entirely of peonies for the blushing bride. The two tied the knot on the fifth of May, and as an ode to their wedding date, guests were greeted at the tented reception with a viral-worthy Maraca themed escort card display. From the Bride and Groom… We really just wanted our wedding to be all around, unique. We didn’t want to go with some of the current styles or trends, we wanted something different – elegant, elevated, black and white with green tropical it was! None of our guests are from the lowcountry, so that in itself was so special for everybody to experience. Kegan and I are from CA, OR and OH, so each of our guests made a huge commitment to be with us on our wedding day.

Our wedding experience was actually a three-day long wedding event! For our rehearsal dinner, our guests boarded boats and cruised down the May River to the rehearsal dinner venue. In our welcome bags, Kegan and I each picked items from importation geographical locations to be included (i. E. Our favorite crackers from a local San Francisco bakery, jam from a small company in Washington, DC where we lived for a year, etc.)

I think my most special memory was when we were going to do our first look, and since we only had one vehicle to take us out to the spot where we did our first look, Kegan had to be blind folded in the front seat, while I sat in the second row, right behind him. We got to hold hands (while he still couldn’t see me) and drive out to our first look spot together. Some would say this was a ‘hiccup’, but for us it felt like it eased the nerves a bit. Another special memory is that our vendors truly felt like friends and guests of the wedding, rather than vendors.

Due to COVID, from the time we got engaged, to our Palmetto wedding, it had been 2&1/2years, so we were just grateful to have had a wedding at all. The vendors, from the wedding planner, to the photographers, the cigar roller, and even one of the venue coordinators all were so friendly, personable, and truly made or day stress-free and blissful. To many of our vendors, we are probably yet another wedding in their crazy schedules, but to us, we felt like our vendors became friends! :)

If we could offer one piece of wisdom to couples currently planning a wedding, it would be… Don’t sweat the small stuff! Inevitably, something will not go exactly as planned (big or small), and you just have to embrace it and accept it as your own ‘wedding story’. My veil fell off as I was walking down the aisle, no biggie! :)

It’s elegance all the way at this luxurious French chateau wedding.  Oui Mon Coeur and Katy Lunsford planned and designed a day filled with gilded details and chic touches.  A light and airy palette of neutrals, combined with the natural beauty of the venue, makes this the perfect inspiration for modern brides.  Images by Katy Lunsford tell a timeless love story overflowing with French style. From Katy Lunsford… A historic Cognac chateau, nestled amongst endless vines in sunny, unspoiled South West France, is the setting for this luxe white and gold editorial. The chateau, which opens its doors to weddings this summer, has undergone an epic transformation over the last 5 years, taking it from near-uninhabitable to the beautiful, luxurious home we see now. Owner, Jules Berry describes finding the chateau as a sleeping castle, the ruins of a French fairytale chateau, with heaps of history, hidden behind padlocked gates in the Cognac region of the Grand Champagne. She fell in love with the beautiful light flooding the property from all angles, and decided to restore the beautiful building to her former glory – but taking it so much further. Marrying modern comforts with timeless French style, the chateau is filled with gorgeous antique French furniture, gold roll-top baths, gilded mirrors, and glittering chandeliers. It is tastefully decorated in light, neutral tones, which creates a luxurious, yet contemporary chic space. Taking on such a restoration was no mean feat – especially such a historical building, in a foreign country, and involved some serious challenges, including creating a replica spiral staircase to allow access to the tower rooms, which before this could only be accessed by crawling across a narrow roof ledge. (You can follow their fascinating renovation story on Instagram @restorethechateau). 5 years later, No. 3 The Chateau emerges as the most magical of wedding venues, with a show-stopping edge of sleek luxury, as soon as you enter those now-unlocked gates.

For this editorial, we wanted to create something that would adequately showcase this stunning new venue, without distracting from its already gorgeous interior. We chose a classic all-white color palette, with hints of gold, to complement the opulent interiors and appeal to both the modern and more traditional bride. A truly fantastic team of France-based vendors pulled together to create magic, by marrying more classic wedding ideas played against modern and chic twists, but always with a luxurious aesthetic. France-based planner and stylist, Ajna of Oui Mon Coeur, tells us more: “To bring depth to an all-white color palette, we played with varying shades of whites and neutrals with soft gold accents to create a luxe feel. We also layered in a lot of different textures to create visual interest – from blind-embossed letter-press patterns on pillowy handmade paper, to carefully placed floral lace appliqués on sheer illusion sleeves, to put white linen tablecloths layered with diaphanous silk runners, and sumptuous ivory and gold brocade napkins paired with gold-rimmed Limoges china. Our gorgeous bride Andrea wore a couture gown by Daalarna Couture in a classical silhouette – channeling a hint of Grace Kelly – with long sleeves for a late September wedding. Her more traditional cathedral-length veil and exquisite Lena Rom headpiece play against modern pearl-drop earrings. Her look is finished with luxurious Freya Rose shoes, with stunning crystal-embellished heels. The intimate ceremony is performed with the golden limestone of the chateau as a backdrop. We chose a traditional arch shape, to echo the repeated arch shapes on the chateau façade, but updated the look with a triple-arch. To give it a modern twist, talented French florist Veronique Lorre left the central arch frame mostly bare, with clusters of larger, white statement blooms, and then covered the two smaller side arches in a modern single variety Limonium, dotted with white roses throughout.” Florist Veronique Lorre tells us more about the inspiration: “we envisioned this classical all-white wedding with a twist of modernity. We designed a triple-floral-arch statement piece to create a light, elegant and romantic ceremony backdrop that naturally echoes the arches on the chateau.”

For the cocktail hour, our couple sips signature cocktails mixed by the French Barmen by the stunning modern pool, before moving on to the romantic dinner setting. Dinner is overlooking the Cognac vines on one long, curved table with arches covered in feathery Limonium every few meters, installed as a method to hang sparkling crystal chandeliers above the open-air dinner tables. Candlelight glittered off the chandeliers and pale gold champagne awaited the guest’s arrival.  Veronique Lorre tell us, “We kept the same inspiration for the reception as the ceremony – re-purposing the same arches and flowers from the ceremony – with cloudy floral arches that seem to ‘float’ over the long table and bring a whimsical, ethereal, yet intimate atmosphere to the dinner. A refined, romantic mood was infused in the centerpieces, featuring a mix of all-white hydrangeas, vases of dahlias, and arrangements in golden French-style pedestal vessels beautifully blended with garden and spray roses, while taper and pillar candles bring a magical, intimate atmosphere at night.” As the sun sets over the vines the couple sneaks away for a romantic golden hour shoot amongst the Cognac vines, and as dusk falls the candles are moved to the stone steps to create a romantic evening setting for their first dance under the stars.

They say rain is good luck on your wedding day and for this couple, it certainly is the case! After losing both her parents, it was especially important to our bride to honor them at such a momentous event.  As the rabbi officiating their ceremony began talking about Allie’s parents, rain started to fall from the sky making our bride feel as if her parents were truly watching over her on her wedding day.  Donovan-Groves Events planned the heartfelt day, and Blue Ridge Floral filled it with beautiful blooms.  You’ll love every image elegantly captured by Mina Von Feilitzsch Photography, see every sweet moment inside the full gallery.

From the bride… Beyond the typical challenges of being a COVID wedding (we were originally going to wed on Nov 1, 2020), I knew our wedding would be extra special. Unfortunately, I lost my father at the age of 18 and then lost my mother 6 years later, in 2017. I was an only child and extremely close with both of them. It was extremely important to me to commemorate them on my big day. There are so many ways people have commemorated loved ones no longer living and there is no one way that is meaningful to everyone.

After a lot of hard thinking, I came up with a few ways.  I included two empty chairs in the front row of the ceremony – one with my mother’s scarf and one with my father-in-law’s jacket, with my favorite picture of my father and me in the pocket. I found it most appropriate to walk down the aisle alone – there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. I also chose to walk down to “Somewhere over the Rainbow,” a nod to my parents and grandmother. When I reached the middle of the aisle, my husband Lee came to meet me and we walked the rest of the way together – symbolic of our future together. When I reached my parents’ seats, a piece of my bouquet was made to break away and I placed a piece of it on my mother’s seat. The radar was watched closely and showed no sign of rain. Just as I started walking down the aisle, however, a rain cloud approached.

Every single person in attendance will confirm that just as our rabbi started talking about my parents, the clouds separated and the rain fell down. All of our vendors and guests told us they have never seen anything like it and how supernatural and surreal it was to experience. We did a quick change of plans and re-situated the ceremony under the winery’s covered patio. After the ceremony, the quick rain shower left us the most beautiful rainbow and sunset for incredible cocktail hour photos. Aside from being an incredibly planned party by our wedding planner, Adam of Donovan-Groves Events, at an INCREDIBLE venue (Jennifer Aniston married Justin Theroux there!), the miracle that happened during our ceremony was once-in-a-lifetime and a story that deserves to be shared!
