A Fabulous Fall Wedding In California Filled With Inspired Ideas

This fabulous fall wedding is full of special touches. Starting with a neutral palette for the ceremony and ending with bold bright colors at the reception, Morgan Events planned a day filled with style and fun.  Floral design by Michael Daigian Design helped bring the couple’s Big Day vision to life, and Larissa Cleveland Photography captured every breathtaking moment beautifully in imagery that is sure to stand the test of time.  Visit the full gallery for a closer look at all the lovely.

From Larissa Cleveland PhotographyEmily and Essam met in 2015 when a friend of Emily’s invited her to try the cool new restaurant in town and said that she “knew the general manager so they could easily get in”. Emily jumped on the opportunity as they were both working in the restaurant industry at the time. Emily learned during that meeting that they actually had a lot of friends in common, but Emily was seeing someone at the time so never really considered Essam as anything but a new friend. Over the next two years Emily and Essam ran into each other frequently, remaining friendly, and always made sure to send a gift when one dined at the other’s restaurant. In 2017, two years after meeting, on Labor Day weekend, Emily and Essam ran into each other, each with a group of friends. The groups converged and Emily and Essam spent the entire night deep in conversation – maybe the first real time that either of them really connected. A few weeks later, Essam asked Emily to dinner, though she actually said no as she was focused on moving to New York. To which Essam responded, “its free dinner, how bad could it be.” Emily really could not argue with his reasoning and once he suggested her favorite restaurant and her favorite food, the yes came easily. After their first date, Essam turned to Emily and said, “Does this feel really comfortable to you?” two year later, they moved in together in February 2020, right before covid hit. But covid brought them closer together – spending their time hiking mount tam, cooking at home, and staying connected with close friends. In September 2021,5 years after they started dating. Essam embarked on a 450 mile hike with Emily’s brother and their close friend. From the hike, they called Emily and told her to prepare for a big welcome home feast with both families. Disguised as a slideshow, put together beautifully by Essam, he surprised Emily and proposed that evening in front of their families.

  • About the food and beverage…
    • With 20 collective years between us in the restaurant industry, Friday night
was catered by a good friend, someone both Essam and i worked with. And Saturday night was catered by our friends and favorite restaurant
    • The bar was tended by our friend Jackson and one of my best friends’
brothers! And technically also the reason Essam and I met
    • Friday nights food was Spanish themed because exactly two years prior,
Essam told Emily “i love you” in Spain over the best meal of our lives
    • The food was inspired by Essam’s Arabic culture and Emily’s Jewish and
Armenian culture – the goal was to find the intersection so we settled on
dolmas, hummus, and and kitbeh as well as baklava and kanafeh, foods
both the bride and groom grew up with
    • Every single bottle of wine was handpicked by Essam and purchased
through his friends and community and sat in our basement for the entire
    year, slowly growing in size!
  • About the music…
    • Emily grew up singing, so the first dance was sung by three of her best
friends, all of whom she sang with at different parts of her life. Middle
    school, college, and high school
    • The Arab music was specifically handpicked by Essam’s father who grew
    up in Nazareth
    • Our first dance song was Tennessee whiskey because about a month into
dating, Emily and Essam were walking down an alleyway, and he
stopped, put the song on his phone, and we danced. From that moment
on, he would always randomly put the song on and we would slow dance
to it – we even did it in a snowstorm in New York one time.
  • About the venue…
    • Bringing our own wine was a MUST since Essam is in the wine industry
    • Hiking and the outdoors is extremely important to us so we knew we
wanted to get married outside. We wanted something beautiful, organic,
but not manicured. We also wanted it to be a little quirky to fit our
    playful personalities!
    • We really wanted to be able to relax and the bride specifically didn’t
want to have to get in a car for the entire weekend, so onsite
accommodations were also a necessity – the hope was for it to feel a little
    like summer camp for adults

  • About the decor…
    • Essam loves color and Emily prefers muted, so we made sure to do a little
of both. The ceremony was white and green with small bits of pink, Emily’s
favorite color, and the reception was brighter colors with yellows, oranges,
    blues and greens.
    • Essam always wanted it to be like “Gatsby meets the ranch” so that it felt
beautiful and sophisticated but very natural and organic. It needed to be
    refined, but also effortless.
    • Nothing is more special than when your FATHER and his team, people you
have known your entire life, and even worked on some weddings with,
are in turn designing YOUR wedding.
    • The invitations were handled by my friend Lauren and purposefully
    captured how playful we are
    • In fact, it really started with an offhand comment from Essam “how about
    dancing chickens”
  • About the vendors…
    • Morgan Doan of Morgan Events, our fabulous, extraordinaire wedding planner has been a household name in my family, so getting to work with her was like fate
    • Larissa Cleveland of Larissa Cleveland Photography, our amazing photographer was chosen specifically because of her history with my father and her stunning work
    • The entire floral team at Michael Daigian Design were people I have
    known my whole life
    • All the food was from close friends in the restaurant industry
    • We didn’t do a wedding party, but rather chose people to contribute in
different ways, through speeches, singing or officiating.
    • The invitations were design by my friend, Lauren Brigham Design!

A Perfectly Pink Wedding In Park City

Pink lovers are sure to swoon for this picture perfect Park City day.  Every carefully curated moment was artfully designed by Stylish Details, and the bright and cheery blooms are sure to take your breath away.  You can feel the love and joy of the garden party bursting through beautifully imagery captured by Natalie Bray Studios. Each minute is better than the last inside the full gallery.

From Natalie Bray StudiosA countryside garden party set the tone for this destination wedding in the Utah mountains, guests were greeted with a colors of bright pink and tons of flowers. Betsy and Michael had the vision to create a summer getaway for guests. Knowing that 100% of them were flying in specifically for the occasion, they wanted it to be an experience to remember. The wedding day started with the sweetest first look between Betsy and Michael. She gave him a hug with tears in her eyes and they both lit up when they saw each other.

Betsy glowed as she danced in the fields wearing an ethereal off-the shoulder gown with layers of blush and sparkle by Galia Lahav. Betsy is a wedding photographer herself, taking photos for artists such as Trevor Noah, Lizzo, and many more. She enlisted industry talent from California (her home) to make magic at River Bottoms Ranch. Betsy photographed a wedding at this venue years ago and knew immediately it was where she wanted to get married. Michael and Betsy are high school sweethearts and truly best friends.

Guests were immersed in the countryside with views of the snow covered mountains, aisle of pink blooms, string quartet, and parasols in hand as they witnessed the couple say their personal vows, which is one of M & B’s favorite memories from the day. The couple’s golden retriever, Poppy, even matched the setting with flowers around her collar. She ran down the aisle and then took a nap. It was priceless. The reception kicked off with a choreographed first dance to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” that wowed their guests! The band was incredible and brought everyone to their feet as they danced the night away.

How to Choose a Wedding Stationer That’s Right for You

Deciding between custom, semi-custom, and mass-market invitations often comes down to what you value and prioritize most. However, the formality of the event and level of investment in other areas should also inform your plan for stationery. If you’re hosting a black tie destination wedding weekend on Lake Como, mass-market stationery will probably not be able to properly communicate what your guests should expect. These destination affairs typically have intense, weekend itineraries that require a lot more than traditional invitation suites can convey with simple accommodations, reception, and RSVP cards. Likewise, a backyard picnic wedding with casual attire doesn’t necessarily call for custom, foil-printed invitations on handmade paper. Consider what works best for you and your partner in the grand scheme of things and plan accordingly.

Photography by Anya Kernes Photography | Stationery by Olive Saint Lily

Once you’ve decided which general direction best fits your needs, it’s time to choose a specific stationer or retailer. Consider the atmosphere and feeling you want on your wedding day, and find a stationer that matches the tone you’re looking to achieve. If you’re dreaming of handmade paper, look for a vendor who is experienced in working with that material. Our Real Weddings and LBB Directory, Instagram, Pinterest, and Google are all great places to find vendors that fit your style if you don’t have a wedding planner to make recommendations. Just like we mentioned earlier, you can find something that truly gives you ALL those heart eyes just by taking a peek of our Instagram feed and following the tagged trail to the stationer of your dreams.

“Ask yourself, what is the feeling you want your wedding day to have? If you want your wedding to be clean, modern and minimalist, don’t choose a vendor whose style is feminine, elaborate and romantic. Not only do you want someone who matches your style and taste, but your vendor wants to work with someone who will allow them to showcase their best style of work.”  –Emily Mayne, Emily Mayne Studio

Photography by Katie Grant Photography | Stationery by Veronica Halim Calligraphy

When you narrow down your choices to a few vendors, inquire with them to receive a quote. If you’re ordering custom, the designer may want to schedule a phone call or ask you a few questions to get to know you better before putting options together. When you receive a quote and see what they can offer, consider if their process, pricing, and availability fits your needs, and feel free to ask them questions! Vendors appreciate when clients engage in some Q&A, it shows how seriously they take their services.

“Ask questions! And then also be sure to ask if the vendor if they have their own ideas to contribute. The best invites are a team effort, not a one-way conversation.” -Michael Musser, Anticipate Invitations

Custom and semi-custom stationery involves a vendor relationship, so become familiar with who they are and how they work. When you’re confident that a vendor is the one that will bring your stationery dreams to life, book them!

Pretty In Peach Coastal Wedding In California

This peachy keen wedding along the coast of Malibu is sure to delight.  The Blushing Details planned the dreamy day, and Flower Allie filled it with a plethora of the most romantic blooms. You’ll love every special moment all artfully captured by Ether & Smith. Visit the full gallery to ooh and aah over every carefully curated detail.

From The Blushing DetailsDesigner and planner, The Blushing Details worked with passion for planning, design, and styling this love-filled romantic coastal wedding for this stunning couple, Eyenne and Paul. At our design meeting, our lovely bride wanted a peach-tone color with an essence of pink and a pop of raspberry color palette. As you see, peaches, pink, and raspberry can transition into each other quite easily. I created coastal romantic weddings with these soft hues, but also embody the essence of the color palette, especially to reflect in the smallest details.

Such elements were designed with pressed flowers for the table number and bar sign by Darling Daydream. The gorgeous floral by Flower Allie featured vibrant pop of raspberry color along with some fresh roses, ranunculus, and other fresh blooms with a combination of natural green foliages placed throughout our tablescape, bar, seating display, fountain, and arch. I wanted to effortlessly use flowers & push the boundaries to create a more elaborate sweetheart table filled with flower elements and candles. The same flower element is displayed throughout the reception table creating this romantic feeling of overlooking the coast.

Each corner had a romantic element that included hanging escort cards by Sea & Sun Calligraphy off of champagne glasses for the guest seating, and an invitation suite customized overseas in the Philippines all the way down to the napkins by BBJ La Tavola wrapped with a delicate chiffon ribbon. And the same flower element was created on the dancefloor to create a more cohesive design. We topped it all off with a stunning wedding cake with pressed flowers designed by Lila Cake Shop. As a wedding planner and designer-The Blushing Details, wanted to help the couple by crafting a truly romantic coastal aesthetic filled with fresh blooms; something key to the essential part of the romantic fairytale story.

French Country Aesthetic With a Palette Inspired by Nature

When Rebecca Rose Events and Anne Rhett Photography team up for a french country-inspired wedding, you know the results will be nothing short of breathtaking. The beautiful bride kicked tradition to the curb with the epic Monique Lhuillier “Bloom” gown in a sage green hue while her ‘maids donned all white. See the full gallery of details of this southern inspired fête at full gallery, all captured by Anne Rhett!

Ann Bennett loves a French country aesthetic and wanted the wedding to feel like a breath of fresh air and effortlessly beautiful. We leaned into a palette of blues and greens – all inspired by nature – with a few very playful hints of her favorite color: orange.

Her sister, Janie, the maid of honor, wore a pale blue gown and all of the other girls wore white. Ann Bennett wanted her sister to be distinctive, and it was such a unique spin on the old traditions since her own dress was patterned with green floral details, and the only white gowns were worn by the bridal party. Janie’s dress was such a fun “something blue” (in addition to the blue detailing on Ann Bennett’s Manolo Blahnik heels, of course.)

We used fresh, seasonal flowers to create a soft, garden aesthetic, including peonies, garden roses, sweet pea, ranunculus, larkspur, tweedia, and greenery such as gardenia foliage, hosta leaves, Italian ruscus, and variegated pittosporum.

The welcome gifts contained some fun local favorites: Moravian sugar cookies, a treat unique to Winston-Salem (Ann Bennett’s hometown, and the location of the wedding), and Chicago’s famous Garrett popcorn, a staple from the city where AB and Ryan have made their home.

A Multicultural Celebration At This Romantic Industrial Wedding

Our bride and groom found a way to beautifully blend their South Asian heritage with their North American upbringing.  Through food, traditions, and outfits they were able to celebrate their culture while incorporating a modern romantic design aesthetic.  Toast Events planned and designed the dreamy day, while Maison Anthea filled it with lush, romantic blooms.  The love and joy of the day radiate in imagery captured by Stephanie Mason & Co., visit the full gallery to see it all.

From the bride… We met on bumble, turns out dating apps do work! The proposal was perfectly us, we woke up one Saturday morning and got ready to go get a coffee from one of the coffee shops around us, that’s our Saturday tradition so nothing felt out of the ordinary. He was definitely acting weird though, and after we got our coffee insisted that we keep walking towards a sandwich shop a few kilometers away which felt strange given the time and the fact that we both got pastries with our coffee but I went with it. Eventually, we found ourselves walking through Confederation Park which is where we would always meet up after work when we started dating and have always called it our park. He asked me to sit down on one of the park benches for a minute and suddenly he was down on one knee! I was so surprised that instead of saying yes, I shouted out “No”, because I couldn’t believe that this was really happening. I said yes eventually after the shock wore off of course. I really wanted the wedding to feel very soft, and romantic, with a bit of an indoor-outdoor feel. The color palette was very neutral with greens, beiges, and whites, our wedding was right in the middle of summer and I wanted to keep things feeling as light and breezy as possible. My family is from Bangladesh and my husband is half Indian so we wanted to blend our South Asian heritage with our North American upbringing and lifestyle. The main ways that we did that was through food, we had an incredible Indian buffet catered by the East India Company; the music, we asked our DJ to play a mix of English and South Asian music; and lastly, through our outfits, both my husband and I wore traditional South Asian outfits with me in a lehenga and my husband in a sherwani. The bridesmaids also all wore saris. The florals and greenery played a large role in the design elements of our wedding. Our florist, Maison Anthea did an incredible job, my bridesmaids and I carried bouquets made up of white and blue roses as well as dahlias. We had a beautiful asymmetrical altar which had a variety of greenery, smokebush, and large cream and blush roses, the altar was moved into the reception area after the ceremony as a backdrop to our sweetheart table. We also had four massive greenery and floral halos hanging from the ceiling in the reception areas that included the same florals. The actual ceremony itself was very special. I really wanted the ceremony to be personal to us our relationship. Our officiant, Evelyn Hope from All My Tomorrow’s Officiant, crafted a beautiful ceremony that focused entirely on our journey together, what we love most about each other, and what we hope for in our next chapter. We were also able to include a few of our family members that were close to our hearts in the ceremony, my Grandma came up and did a reading in our native language which was incredibly special, we also had my husband’s parents each do a reading as well. We also included a garland exchange as part of the ceremony which is a part of our South Asian culture which both of our mothers helped with. All in all, the ceremony was just really special. Another unexpectedly special moment was our first look photos. My husband and I were on the fence about whether we cared to do that or not but our photographer, Stephanie Mason & Co., really encouraged us to do it so we went ahead with it and it really was so nice to see each other all dressed up and have that one special, quiet moment together before the craziness of the wedding continued. The photos in general ended up really being the only time that both of us got to spend one on one time with each other and talk a little so that was really special too!

Our wedding was on July 29th so we knew it was going to be very hot so we had an ice cream truck from the Merry Dairy one of our local ice cream shops come after dinner. There Merry Dairy is also both my and my husband’s favorite ice cream shop. It was a huge hit with all of the guests! It was really important to me to wear a traditional South Asian outfit for my wedding, its what I always envisioned myself wearing. I chose a lehenga which is an outfit made up of a full-bodied, floor-length skirt, a cropped blouse, and a long scarf that is typically worn as a veil for weddings. I bought the dress from a store in Markham, Ontario called Dulhan, it was the first store that I went into and I immediately fell in love with my lehenga. It was white net fabric, fully embroidered with little white flowers, pearly beads, and crystals. I also wore traditional South Asian jewelry with a heavy collar necklace, earrings with white stones and navy beads as well as a tikka which is a dangly headpiece worn in your middle part. Because my outfit was so big and ornate, for shoes I kept it simple and comfortable with some white leather block-heel sandals. My husband was debating between a suit and a sherwani, but as soon as he put on a sherwani he was sold! A sherwani is like a longer coat sale garment worn with thin, tapered pants. His was from a store in the GTA called XXXX. It was a navy jacquard fabric, with large gold buttons, a gold embroidered collar, and cuffs. The pants were white linen pants. To finish off his look he wore a pair of cognac loafers from Harry Rosen. The one wedding advice that I’ve been giving all my friends is: get a wedding planner. Having Elise Schmitz from Toast Events plan our wedding was the single greatest wedding planning decision that we made and the best part is, that’s really the only wedding planning decision that we had to make. Having a wedding planner made it so that my husband and I could pick the fun stuff like having an ice cream truck but not have to worry about all of the little details. A wedding planner takes all the stress out of the wedding, they have the best recommendations for vendors, and are able to really execute your vision in a way that would be impossible to do if you don’t plan weddings as a full time job! And it’s so nice to have someone with a wealth of knowledge about weddings at your disposal.

From Toast Events Before I design a space, I like to create a story in my mind for my main characters- the client, and watch that narrative come to life in my imagination and transfer it to my canvas; which was this gorgeous industrial space. When envisioning Tasnia and Evan’s wedding design I knew right away that to honor the beauty of the architecture, we wanted to enhance the rustic disposition of the building while creating an elevated and intimate environment lush with wild floral elements. Because our space was cavernous we specifically chose to centralize the floral elements to floating hoops of branch work and strategically placed blooms so that our design looked like the building had been abandoned and nature simply took over and beautified the space. For this, I crafted a floral recipe to include natural elements such as Smoke Bush, Raspberry Bush, wild vines, etc which couldn’t necessarily be purchased from a wholesaler or flower farm. This required our carefully chosen florist to physically forage from the forest to obtain the wild foliage to create that effortless natural aspect of a design I had envisioned. I specified that the florist add blooms in clusters so that it mimicked a rose bush we could see growing in our backyards. The aim was to embody and embrace imperfection. These hoop elements created the ambiance and provided the eye with a central place to gaze upon which created a feeling of intimacy in such a large space. While 90% of our budget was spent suspended, our next design challenge was creating warmth in a cold industrial space. For this, we lit hundreds of candles on all our reception tables in beautiful striped eclectic glassware vessels that transformed the flame of a single candle into a million rays of light which filled the room with a glow illuminating guests’ faces and in turn amplifying the ability for our photographer to capture human expression & celebration throughout the evening. We also reused many ceremony florals in the reception space maximizing the overall aesthetic and budget.

This Couple Met On Zoom And Got Married In A Beautiful Burst Of Color

Our couple might have had their first date on Zoom, but their Napa wedding was live and in color.  Every Elegant Detail planned the dreamiest of days, with bright hues leading the inspiration for the design.  From an endlessly pretty flower-filled seating chart to a wedding cake on a bed of bold blooms, every inch of this celebration is overflowing with inspiration.  Larissa Cleveland Photography elegantly captured every carefully curated detail, be sure to see it all inside the full gallery.

From Larissa Cleveland PhotographyTheir love story: Old-fashioned matchmaking brought them together, with a silicon valley twist. Brendan and Sarah were set up and introduced based on their values, hopes, and dreams for a family. They were supposed to meet in early March, but due to Sarah’s travel schedule in early 2020 followed by covid delaying their in-person lunch date, they decided to meet on Zoom, at the end of March 2020. When Sarah was skeptical of their ‘first date’ being on Zoom more than just because it was meeting virtually but also because she’s a loyal Googler and preferred Google Meet. When their 45-minute free first Zoom date was about to expire, Brendan asked for Sarah’s # and they continued to chat for hours. Before their second Zoom date, Brendan suggested a prompt: “Share our favorite photo and why?” It was a sweet conversation starter and a daunting task for Sarah since she could only pick one! For the months to come they spent hours on Zoom calls, Sarah in San Francisco and Brendan in Monterey. Sarah felt she won Brendan’s heart when she made him a home-cooked meal with scallops. Little did he know he won her heart by bringing her roses and caramels. A special week in the news was in April 2020 when Brendan was featured in Forbes for his work at Zoom, and Sarah was featured on the Google Keyword blog for the family photography series and article she wrote. It was then when their Covid love story was officially established, and a match made in technology heaven was reaffirmed.

The details: Sarah’s love for flowers and bright colors were the inspiration for their wedding design. With such bright floral accents, the bridesmaids wore various shades of blue creating a beautiful contrast. Heidi from The Wedding Detailor hand stitched “I love you dearly Sweet B” in Sarah’s handwriting on her veil. 1960 Convertible Vintage MG was borrowed from a family friend for photos. Since Brendan is the Chief Technology Officer of Zoom, it only seemed fitting to broadcast their wedding over Zoom as well. 150 guests from around the world watched their ceremony, first dance, and toasts on Zoom followed by Sarah and Brendan interacting with them on screen during the reception. This was quite a production given that we had four extra video cameras on sight at the ceremony to capture all the angles for Zoom guests.

Brendan programmed a rotary phone so that guests could pick up the phone and leave well wishes to the couple. A phone number was also given to all of the guests that could not attend in person so they could leave warm wishes as well. A brass second-line band escorted guests from the ceremony to cocktail hour with Sarah and Brendan. A custom escort board was created with a card for each guest’s name and table number on one side, the other side was designed as a postcard to write a note to drop in a mail slot in the board for Brendan and Sarah to read later. Brendan has a love for citrus, so Sarah wanted to incorporate lemons into the design at the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner as well as lemon-inspired desserts at the dessert table. Sarah’s Galia Lahav wedding dress was customized, adding floral lace embellishments. Sarah purchased her dress at the Galia Lahav flagship store in Los Angeles.

Trend Report: The Evolution of Wedding Bands

It’s true, diamonds are forever, but styles change and we must admit, we’re a bit more than excited to see wedding bands get a well-deserved glow-up. What started as a simple gold band evolved into other metals and different levels of adornment like engraving and filigree. Then as engagement rings with thinner pavé bands became popular, we saw wedding bands thin out to match. But look out because there’s a new band in town and she THICK. Where brides were once looking for bands that practically became one with their engagement ring, now they’re looking for serious stand-out pieces, like these babies from Grown Brilliance.

Why The Change?

As with all trends, there are a ton of factors that go into the change in direction. We suspect that these bands (and the stones on them) are getting bigger now because, well…they can. With the advent of lab-grown diamonds, like these ones from Grown Brilliance, these gorgeous bands that once would have been cost-prohibitive for most couples are now surprisingly affordable. Grown Brilliance is the industry leader in lab-grown diamond rings, and for good reason. All of their diamonds are carefully created and are physically identical to their mined counterparts. Plus, in their labs and design studios, all local labor laws are followed and the creation of their lab-grown diamonds is free from funding violence, warlords, rebels, terror groups, corrupt governments, or other human rights abuses. So, you can rest easy knowing that no one was hurt in the making of your ring. More diamonds, no guilt–it’s a win-win in our books!

How To Stack Them

These larger bands are meant to stand out but you do want to make sure that they complement your engagement ring. We recommend choosing a wedding band with the same color metal as your engagement ring and with stones that are the same diamond shape and cut. As far as size goes, the big band trend looks best with stones that are about 1/4 of the size of the main stone on your engagement ring. So, if the center stone on your engagement ring is 2ct, the stones on your wedding band would be around .5ct each. A lot of couples are also investing in multiple diamond wedding bands, creating a chic (and sparkly) stack. For long engagements, consider getting a band for your anniversary and one for the big day. Or, you could exchange one band when you make it official at city hall and one at your ceremony.

Eternity Bands

You’ve probably heard the term “eternity band” but what does it mean? Eternity bands are bands that feature diamonds all the way around instead of just on top, and they are super popular right now. We love the look in general, but our favorite part is that no matter how many times your ring spins during the day (which it will) you’ll never know. No need to straighten it out because it’ll always be sparkly side up!

Check out @grownbrilliance on Instagram for more inspo on how to stack your bands.

Cabo Destination Wedding Full of Fun And Fashion

Fun and fashion collide at this Cabo San Lucas wedding.  Our two grooms and their enchanting ensembles are the epitomai of style, and the lush white floral design by Vero Romo Flowers is equally as elegant.  Every carefully curated detail and heartfelt moment is artfully captured in imagery by Nate Puhr.  Get lost in all the charm inside the full gallery.

From Published + Pretty… This same-sex Cabo destination wedding is full of fun and fashion. It features a weekend-long celebration with a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception. The attire was really important to this couple and each outfit was maliciously planned, featuring pieces from Prada, Christian Louboutin, Louis Vuitton, and Tom Ford – just to name a few. The couple also planned and designed the whole wedding themselves.

From Nate Puhr… Celebrating the love of Jonathan and David is definitely unforgettable! Besides the fact that they had a Cabo destination wedding, the amount of personalization that they invested in every detail showed how the couple wanted to make it as memorable as possible. Everything had a meaning to it, not just for them but also for everyone present on their special day. The couple made sure to show their love for fun and appreciation by giving their guests their personalized place cards, shots with their seat numbers, and even their gift bags. Not to mention how incredibly stylish they both were, as they wanted to show their personality as much as possible. It really mattered for them to have the experience of a lifetime, and so they did. Their guests were welcomed at their luxury destination wedding in a gorgeous way since the rehearsal dinner happened at Flora Farms. Everything was sophisticated, with a touch of vibrant colors to match our fun couple’s outfits. Erika De Lorenzo and Coco did an incredible job arranging everything. One of the highlights of that time was the Mojigangas that Jonathan bought for David as a surprise. It was one of their favorite things about visiting San Miguel de Allende, so it was fitting to have one for their Mexico wedding. Their Cabo destination wedding ceremony happened at the JW Marriott Los Cabos. In addition to the picturesque view and wonderful ambiance, what made it even more remarkable is how meaningful this location is for the couple. For them, there’s no better place to have their luxury destination wedding than the very same place where they first professed their love for each other. Their Mexico wedding was indeed extraordinary! From having fireworks at exactly 10:31 PM, which symbolized October 31st – their first date, to their custom-made suits from the rare fabric from Tom Ford and one-of-a-kind Prada tuxedos, the couple made sure to make their Cabo destination wedding as personalized and extraordinary as possible! Something that they both deserved to have!

From the groom… We wanted an opportunity for people from various times and locations of our lives to come together to celebrate our love, yes, but more importantly for this very special group of people to get to know each other. We selected a resort hotel away from a metro area to encourage our guests to stay at the resort and to have plenty of time to talk to our other guests. We wanted the event to be memorable, and for it to be reflective of our personalities, our love for fun, and our style. It was super important that we had an EXPERIENCE. The puppets, the fireworks, the shots to find their seat. The first dance including everyone. Heck, even the gift bags – we wanted everyone to just have a great time and also know how much we appreciated them making the effort to Come all the way to Cabo. The rehearsal dinner I mean – Flora Farms is just magical. It was on the list to get married there but ultimately It felt like the perfect intimate spot to have those grounds be the backdrop to share some extra deep love for our closest friends and family. The potting shed was private enough but perfect for the intimate moment while being just close enough to the hustle and bustle of the restaurant. Erika De Lorenzo and Coco did an incredible job. Not only was it meant to be an experience, but it all also had meaning. The Mojigangas was one of our favorite things about visiting San Miguel de Allende so I bought them as a surprise for David in Cabo. The fireworks went off at exactly 10:31 pm as our first date was on October 31st. The favorite things cards we literally thought of each one for each person to make sure they didn’t just get a place card and instead they got something that illustrated our true favorite characteristics of each guest. We selected the JW Marriott Los Cabos Resort & Spa, because it was the site of the first vacation we took together as a couple, and it’s where we told each other we loved each other for the first time. We wanted to be dressed in colors that were formal yet that matched the landscape of where we were geographically. It was super fun to get pretty much everything on our bodies either custom-made or a few items for a capsule collection. My late family Friend Andre Leon Talley helped us get this rare fabric from Tom Ford for our ceremony – we are told these are the only two in the world! Our Prada tuxedos – same deal they needed special permission from Miuccia Prada to be made as that was to be traditionally a suiting fabric – therefore each of our is one of a kind!

A Sun-Soaked Summer Wedding in Provence Painted in Shades of Blue

Today’s provençal soirée is a mid-summer dream from beginning to end. In front of 75 of their nearest and dearest, Anna and Ralph exchanged vows at the beautiful Chateau Les Oliviers De Salettes on a sunny summer day! Love & Provence brought their vision of elegance with a subtle rustic touch to life. Lettre à Elise Events curated a little something blue to their blooms while Stepan Vrzala Photography was behind the lens capturing every last detail. See it all at the full gallery of inspo!

From the Bride… Anna and Ralph met at a rooftop party in Zurich exactly 6 years prior to their wedding. Pretty quickly they realised that what they had was special and moved in together after being long-distance for a while given Ralph’s job in consulting. A few years later, still in the height of the pandemic, Ralph organised a beautiful proposal in Paris at the private rooftop terrace of the Peninsula filled with Anna’s favourite flowers, hydrangeas. After their engagement in Paris, they spent a week in Provence where they both couldn’t help but fall in love with the region. So when starting the whole wedding planning process France and especially Provence quickly was their favoured destination. From the start, the couple knew they wanted an intimate destination wedding weekend filled with their closest family and friends which ideally should feel like a dreamy vacation in the sun. So while looking at venues they were hoping to find one which could host all of their guests on-site. As they planned during the pandemic, they only managed to visit three venues in person. Their choice was made very quickly after visiting Chateau les Oliviers de Salette, as it offered enough rooms and beautiful grounds, including lavender fields and the impressive tree alley.

After their venue was booked their design vision and vendor team came together with the help of bridal magazines, Instagram, Pinterest, and lastly of course thanks to their wedding planner Aurelie from Love & Provence. Their idea for the wedding weekend was a summery, slightly rustic yet elegant affair with a color palette dominated by light shades, lots of white and different touches of blue. These colors were also included in their wedding crests which were subtly used on little details throughout the weekend like the stationery, lounge pillows, napkins, or Ralph’s cuff links. Making their 75 guests in attendance feel included and special was the most important thing to Anna and Ralph, who were so appreciative of everyone who made the trip down to southern France for their special celebration.

To warmly welcome their guests to the chateau they personally created all of their welcome bags. The wicker baskets were filled with regional goodies like nougat, rose, lavender soap, and lavender sachets with their crest on it as well as some popcorn to snack on and a welcome note including the program for the weekend. Anna, who is a textile/fashion major, loved curating all of the outfits for their wedding weekend. For her wedding dress, she knew she wanted something romantic and surprisingly fell in love with the first wedding dress she ever tried on. The bride’s something blue was her Loeffler & Randall bow heels. After the first dance, she changed into her fitted sparkly party dress to dance the night away in.

From Aurelie of Love & Provence… The inspiration for the wedding came from the venue the Bride and Groom privatized for their 3 day/4 events destination wedding. Anna and Ralph wanted their guests to get a sense of the place. An impressive stone Chateau surrounded with lavender files and olive trees, Château les Oliviers de Salettes has it all if you wish to throw an elegant garden wedding theme in Provence! The blue shutters of the Chateau inspired the colour palette. Combined with shades of whites and creams, the hint of blue would be the main theme all along the weekend, from the welcome party to the Farewell dinner, all the while making it different: for the welcome party, we leant to a minimalist look. For the wedding day, we went for an elegant garden vibe. For the brunch, we incorporated a touch of yellow to make it more summery and Mediterranean. As for the Farewell dinner, we imagined a very long banquet table with lots of white and blue vases running all along.

Southern Provencal Garden Wedding With Bunny Mellon Touches

Where do we even begin when it comes to this stunning Savannah affair? Runway-worthy fashion statements, Bunny Mellon inspired design and whimsical floral arrangements filled with allium, sweet pea and antique roses from Blossom Events… these are just a few of the insanely special details you’ll find at the full gallery by Julie Livingston Photography. The darling couple acquired the help of Reagan Events to bring their wedding dreams to reality, and boy did they deliver! To say we’re obsessed is the understatement of the century.

From the bride, Miranda… Having each spent time living in many cities around the country before meeting in Dallas in 2020, Scott and I were lucky to have made such wonderful friends across numerous states who we knew we’d be asking to travel to celebrate our big day. We wanted to pick a destination that would allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy exploring in between our wedding events, so we began our search in Charleston, where I’d always dreamed of a quintessential low country wedding (and thankfully my Milwaukee-raised then future husband agreed). After striking out with available dates at most of our preferred venues, our planner, Reagan of Reagan Events, suggested the perfect “plan B” and ultimately lead us to Savannah and the idyllic Ford Field and River Club—it was love at first sight and we immediately set the date for Memorial Day weekend 2022!

So much of the appeal of Savannah for us was in its eclectic mix of culture, history and of course breathtaking nature! We wanted to fully embrace all of those ideals in the design concept of our whole weekend, so we created a vision board that felt like a southern adaptation of The Secret Garden with a touch of Provençal interior design influence: overgrown florals and abundant greenery, grand garden gates and egret motifs, antique collectibles and silver mixed with rattan and wicker pieces, all under a sailcloth tent! My mom, sister and I all share a forever love of purple flowers, so we special requested allium, sweet pea and antique roses all in purple hues as the standout blooms in our table arrangements. Paired back to sage green as the primary color in our design palate, plus touches of soft peach, dusty rose and periwinkle, our all-star vendor team created a space that truly felt as if you were cocktail-ing, eating and dancing on a warm, candle lit summer night in a garden in full bloom.

One of my favorite aspects of our wedding design process was working with the immensely talented Julie King Studio. She created not only our entire wedding paper suite, but also designed the art work for our band stage backdrop, circular cocktail bar dance floor AND fun takeaways like match books, maps of Savannah and our late-night snack bags. I’ve long loved hand painted wall murals and wallpaper for interiors, so she played off of a few of my favorite saved images to create a unique garden design featuring budding trees, butterflies and an egret that became a fixed little motif across all our wedding designs!

Finding the dress(es) was one of the—thankfully—easiest and most special parts of the planning process. For my gown, I knew I wanted something strapless, column shaped and with a bow on the back, based off an inspiration photo I’d saved nearly a decade ago from an Alber Elbaz-era Lanvin bridal collection. I took my mom and sister to shop with me, and on our second stop of the day, we walked into the Carolina Herrera salon in Dallas and found exactly what I had been hoping for and then some! They graciously made a few tweaks to make the bow fuller and visible from the front, and it was more special (and comfortable!) than I could’ve ever imagined. I initially hadn’t planned to find a second change reception dress, but when an appointment spot opened up at Happy Isles salon in LA, I booked a flight on a whim in hopes of finding something to change my mind! I was elated to find just that in a silver fringe-beaded taupe hued dress that immediately reminded me of a ballgown worn by Audrey Hepburn’s Eliza Doolittle character in the film My Fair Lady. It ended up making for the perfect sparkly party dress!

From the rehearsal dinner to our post-wedding Bloody Mary’s + Biscuits goodbye brunch, our weekend was the biggest blur of pure joy, love and sweet moments we’ll cherish forever surrounded by all of our very favorite people who’ve walked us through so many stages of our lives, separately and together. As our guests moved from cocktail hour to the tent for dinner and dancing on our wedding day, we took a moment to ourselves on the lawn to watch the sun go down and take it all in together. The overwhelming feeling of love and gratitude is something I’ll never forget—for any future brides reading this, take a moment away with your husband to soak in all the happiness. You’ll never remember what goes right or wrong, but you’ll never forget those first few married moments of pure wedding day bliss!

Brightly Colored Floral-Filled Wedding At Bernardus Lodge And Spa

Bright and sunny bursts of color are sure to make you smile at this Bernardus Lodge wedding.  The playful hues dazzled throughout the day that was perfectly planned and designed by Riley Loves Lulu.  Whimsical florals by Barefoot Floral mixed with fresh citrus to add to the charm of the celebration.  You’ll love every elegant picture snapped by The Ganeys, feast your eyes on it all inside the full gallery.

From … Lucia and Matt have amazing energy together. Lucia has a calming, thoughtful presence, and Matt brings lighthearted, playful energy to their relationship. Shortly after getting engaged, they discovered that they were expecting, and decided to have an intimate Bernardus Lodge wedding with 30 of their closest friends and family. Riley Loves Lulu did an incredible job designing their welcome dinner (inspired by the Amalfi coast) and wedding at Bernardus in Carmel Valley in less than four months! Carmel is a special spot to Matt and Lucia, as Lucia’s family has a home there and they visit often.

After getting ready at a family home in downtown Carmel, Lucia and Matt shared a first look at Bernardus Lodge. We spent some time walking the charming grounds together through the beautiful gardens and lavender. Their ceremony was held in the rose garden. An asymmetrical deconstructed floral arch was a gorgeous backdrop- along with the mountains of Carmel. The florist used so many bright, fun colors in the pieces she created for this event. Matt and Lucia both wiped back tears as they exchanged vows. There is something even more beautiful about getting married when there is a baby on the way – and this is truly the first chapter of them as a family.

The dinner under the trellis took everyone’s breath away. Draped with twinkle lights, the one long table truly allowed everyone to feel like family as Matt and Lucia celebrated their marriage. A three-piece band serenaded the guests throughout the meal. Although not planned, Matt and Lucia shared a first dance by the twinkle lights. It was such a sweet moment and it made me feel grateful that their day unfolded in a way where they could have a sweet, spontaneous moment.

Intimate Luxury Autumn Wedding At The Ritz Paris

Paris is always a good idea, especially for an autumn wedding at the iconic Ritz Paris.  Kia Marie Events planned the intimate celebration with style, and bonphotage beautifully captured the love and joy of the day.  From old-world charm to elegant details, you won’t want to miss a single moment inside the full gallery.

From bonphotageFor this gorgeous power couple, an Autumn wedding in Paris was the perfect recipe for their “I do’s”. Friends and family flew into the iconic Ritz Carlton Paris from around the globe for the intimate celebration that dreams are made of! The iconic Hôtel Ritz Paris was selected as the ceremony backdrop thanks to its rich history and unparalleled beauty.

The lovebirds said I do in the famous courtyard surrounded by greenery and old-world classic French architecture. We then headed to the elegant Ritz staircase, the Petit Palais, and the Eiffel tower for portraits. The reception color palette softly played off tones of early Fall and the subtle tones both outside and inside the venue. Feminine blooms of pink, lavender, and white blooms adorned their table. The tablescape was set with old-world chairs and custom paper details.

The invitations and day of paper goods were a truly personal touch as each guest received a unique menu and personal place card, each assembled together with color, texture, and design details custom to each attendee. The texture in the china and flatware pairings brought a true nod to the simple, yet elegant look of the venue’s iconic architecture and gardens.

A Navy Pilot’s Summer Wedding Featuring Tradition, Elegance, and a Scene From Top Gun

A blush pink color palette, a man in uniform, and a Top Gun-worthy serenade – what’s not to love about this sunny California affair planned by Brooke Nicole Events?! When it came to the design..  elegance and tradition remained at the center of Ashley and Kevin’s vision. From lush, peony-infused floral by ADORNMENTS flowers + finery to an escort display that’ll … the full gallery by Ashley Rae Studio is soaring with beautiful inspiration for the classic bride at heart.

From Ashley Rae StudioAshley and Kevin’s wedding on the Central Coast of California boasts a scene out of a Top Gun movie alongside pure elegance and obvious attention to detail. The bride wore a beautiful Justin Alexander signature gown with custom-made sleeves and embellishments, while the groom looked sharp in his US Navy dress whites alongside his fellow colleagues. It’s worth noting that Tom Cruise played the department head of Kevin’s squadron (VX-31) in the most recent Top Gun movie.

Ashley’s parents were married at the San Luis Obispo Mission de Tolosa 45 years before Ashley and Kevin, so it was important for them to continue the tradition and have their own wedding there as well. The invitations, designed by Heidi Davidson, featured a custom illustration of the Mission and were wrapped in vellum paper with the lyrics to the couple’s favorite love song, “Bones.” One guest was so inspired by the invitation that they even recreated the illustration on a bottle of bubbles.

After their first kiss as a married couple, there was a sword ceremony on the steps of the Mission. Guests then made their way to the Rava Winery in Paso Robles for cocktails, dinner, and dancing. The cocktails were named after nicknames that had been given to the couple – “Buttercup” for Ashley, given to her by her grandmother, and “Moonburn” for Kevin, given to him by his fellow airmen. The couple’s German shepherd dog, “Blitz,” was the inspiration for the third cocktail.

The cake cutting was done with a sword, wielded by one of Kevin’s fellow swordsmen, and guests enjoyed the lounging spaces inside and outside as the night came to a close. As is traditional for Navy officers at weddings, the iconic Top Gun serenade was performed for Ashley, who thoroughly enjoyed her moment as the bride. In the original Top Gun movie, this serenade is performed when the main character meets the woman who will eventually become his instructor at the Officer’s Club. The groomsmen and swordsmen, who are usually in uniform, sing the serenade to the bride as a sign of respect and celebration.

Two Brides’ Special Day Under A Lush Display of Baby’s Breath & Roses

Beautiful gypsophila and roses made this special day feel like a fairytale.  Our brides turned to Sinclair & Co. Design to help them bring their vision to life, with the help of fabulous florals the celebration turned out equal parts ethereal and romantic.  You can feel the love and joy of the day bursting through the imagery captured by Stephanie Mason & Co., see every magical moment inside the full gallery.

From Stephanie Mason & Co.Even though Cassidy and Dayna both played on the varsity ice hockey team at the University of Vermont (UVM) they never could have imagined how their love story would play out. While great friends at first, they both quickly realized there was something much deeper to their connection. Eight years later, with many ups and a few downs, Dayna proposed to Cassidy on the dock of her family cottage on Big Rideau Lake in Ottawa, Ontario under a setting sun with nobody else around, just the two of them. A few months following Dayna’s proposal, Cassidy also proposed to Dayna under the altar area at Evermore Weddings Events on July 23, 2021, one year away from their wedding date. Cassidy and Dayna immediately fell in love with the picturesque grounds at Evermore and the rustic, yet elegant barn. They had been dreaming of their wedding day and all of the details and inspiration that come with building a Pinterest board. The couple was focused on creating unique experiences and little surprises throughout the day that their guests could enjoy, while also showcasing their love for each other.

“We both always dreamed of wearing white dresses. We loved the idea of having two of all the best parts of a wedding; two dresses, two veils, two bouquets, and two pairs of wedding shoes, and of course, both of us equally anticipating the first look dress reveal” the couple says. With the guidance and expertise of wedding planner and florist, Lauren Sinclair, from Sinclair & Co. Design, the couple narrowed down their wedding day vision. “We wanted our wedding day to feel feminine, and romantic. A Taylor Swift Fairytale.”

What could be more romantic and feminine than baby’s breath and roses? The couple entrusted Sinclair & Co. Design to bring their floral vision to life and they were over the moon thrilled with how it all came together.

“We wanted the florals to be the focal point of our decor and Lauren exceeded our expectations! From baby’s breath overflowing over the edges of the guest tables to large baby’s breath arrangements on the bar top and round tables, to a lush aisle filled with baby’s breath, quicksand roses, and playa blanca roses, to a statement arbour behind us at the ceremony, we wanted the florals to stand out, and we think they did just that!”

For the last seven months of their wedding planning journey, Cassidy and Dayna had a secret to keep from one another. “The most anticipated moment of our wedding day was by far our first look. For nearly seven months we had kept every single detail about our wedding day look a complete secret from one another! Both being such talkers… This was HARD. But proved to be very much worth the wait. The excitement we both felt leading into the moment we both turned around cannot be explained. There’s something to be said about that first look, alone, with nothing to focus on but each other and soaking it all in.” Stephanie Mason, of Stephanie Mason & Co. Captured their emotional and long-awaited first look in the laneway at Evermore, and it was truly perfect. Each and every moment of the day was planned to perfection and everything was set and ready for the ceremony to begin, when mother nature had other plans. A crazy rain turned to hail storm swept across the Ottawa valley and delayed the wedding ceremony by an hour. With many different backup plan options, the couple ultimately envisioned the romantic outdoor ceremony and decided to wait out the storm. Both brides and their bridal parties made it down the aisle, just in time for a rainbow to appear mid-ceremony. After the rush to get the ceremony started in between rain clouds, the guests weren’t able to grab the toss rose petals the brides had planned for. Therefore, following the ceremony all guests were invited back to the altar so the couple could truly live out the newlywed bliss of walking up the aisle as guests tossed rose petals and cheered! During the reception, the couple and guests listened to the most heartfelt speeches from their closest loved ones, with tears flowing frequently, the brides felt so much love for each and every person in attendance. A surprise was organized by one of the bride’s mothers for golden hour; a vintage, turquoise 1958 Chevrolet Impala was awaiting them in the laneway. Stephanie Mason & Co. captured the Pinterest-worthy, sun-kissed moments of the brides in all of their newlywed bliss. The couple ventured back down to the ceremony area, where a champagne tower was set up with bottles of Veuve, as the baby’s breath arbor as the perfect backdrop. The couple moved back into the reception space to finish up with their father-daughter dances, but one last surprise was in store for all of their guests. In an exciting effort to get everyone on the dance floor, the brides and bridal party made a surprise entrance to “Man I Feel like a Woman” by Shania Twain wearing light-up cowboy hats, while the hats were also being passed out for guests to join in on the fun! It was an incredible way to set the tone for the rest of the party! As well as a unique take-home favor for all guests. Cassidy and Dayna truly thought of each and every detail, and really just wanted the day to be a unique celebration with all of their nearest and dearest loved ones.

“The biggest advice we would share is to really take the time into finding the best vendor team for you. Looking back on our day, we can’t thank our vendor team enough. Dear Darling Films, Stephanie Mason & Co., and Lauren Sinclair from Sinclair & Co. Design were complete rockstars and made us feel so comfortable all day, which allowed us to truly enjoy every moment. Romantic Villa Antonia Wedding With Touches Of Soft Pink

This Villa Antonia wedding is filled with romantic details and touches of soft pink.  The couple turned to Bouquets of Austin to bring their Big Day vision to life with stunning floral designs throughout the special day.  Vanessa Joy Photography was there to capture every magical moment in imagery that is sure to stand the test of time, you’ll love every detail inside the full gallery.

From the bride… Madeleine Barjau and George Gillette met in 2015 during her Freshman year and his Sophomore year at Texas A&M. Although Madeleine told her mom they met at the library originally, they actually met through a dating app during undergrad. George was one of her first matches, and sent her a wholly ridiculous lengthy pickup line – but he seemed fun and she wanted to give it a chance. On their first date, George was so distracted talking to Madeleine, he accidentally took a wrong turn, and they actually drove almost 30 minutes out of the city before either of them noticed. That’s when Madeleine got two important ideas – first, she should drive next time, and second, this might actually work long term. Last February, while Madeleine was on a walk with her sister and dog, George surprised Madeleine by proposing in her childhood neighborhood park, where they often go on walks. George originally wanted to propose 2/19/21, as that would also add up the way their first “I love you” did – 8/7/15. However, the winter storm postponed the props he intended to bring, so it wasn’t meant to be. Instead, it was a week later, on 2/26/21, when George surprised Madeleine at a park they frequently visited. He had set up a display of custom donuts (a favorite dessert of hers) saying “Will You Marry Me?”, orchids which were the flowers he brought Madeleine when he played piano during their first Valentine’s together, and her dream Tiffany’s engagement ring.

The most difficult part of planning our wedding was picking a wedding date. We knew we wanted to pick a day that would resonate with us. Numbers have always been significant in our lives from our first “I love you” on 8/7/15 to our planned proposal on 2/19/21 (the storm pushed it back a week since the ring couldn’t be delivered during the freeze!). We decided the magical day would be 11.12.22. After that, everything flew by as we had the most amazing planner and vendor team to help us with all the details. Both 35mm film and digital photography were used to capture this wedding with Vanessa Joy Photography. One of the most unique moments during the ceremony was the “social media moment” where everyone, at the beginning of the ceremony, could get a picture of the couple at the altar so they could then put away their photos and be present in the ceremony afterward. It was a perfect way to make the guests, couple, and media team happy!

We love to try new take-out restaurants and watch movies together. Then we’ll discuss the movie (favorite/least favorite parts, plot, characters, etc.) afterward, though sometimes his more convoluted theories strain the conversation. Staying at home and talking together over a movie though is always relaxing and my favorite thing to do. Spending the day together and exploring local downtown Austin would be a great special date for us. New restaurants and activities and walking around the area. Our favorite thing about each other is that we are completely comfortable around each other and love being together even if it’s just sitting in the same room and doing separate things. Our relationship is easygoing, dependable, romantic, playful, trusting, loving, and caring.

Here’s Why That Pricey Wedding Photography Cost Is Worth Every Penny

If you’ve taken the time to look at potential photographers and their pricing, you may have noticed that it can be WAY expensive. But there is absolutely a reason why: wedding photography is in a class of its own. We don’t mean that in an aesthetic, “look how pretty it is” way. We mean that in the nitty gritty amount of work that goes into it way. Wedding photographers develop a unique skill set, dealing with sticky situations, anxious brides, sudden weather changes, and other hiccups. It is through years of trial and effort, practice, training, and development, plus sheer hard work that they have become the artists that they are! And yes, they are artists.

Like most vendors, photographers quote based off the cost of material and their time—but keep in mind, that goes well beyond the number of hours they put in on the day of! An experienced photographer will go all in to make sure they’re ready for your day. They will take time to visit your ceremony and reception sites, to make sure they’re  familiar with the surroundings of their snaps, what layout and lighting they’ll be working with, and what (if any) challenges they might face. Not to mention, they will take time to meet with you beforehand to get a sense of who you guys are as a couple and what you’re envisioning for your special day. Then after the wedding is done, they’ll spend marathon days editing photos to produce a gorgeous, well-curated portfolio.

So with that in mind, here’s a list of some factors photographers take into consideration when building out their pricing:

  • Educational Background | Is the photographer academically trained in photography? Are they continuing their development on a regular basis by participating in workshops and conferences?
  • Years of Experience | How long have they been shooting weddings?
  • Location | Photographers in large cities and destination locations  may charge more for their services.
  • Awards and Accolades | Has their work earned any honors or distinctions over the years? (This can often show you what kind of weddings they’re exceptional at shooting.)
  • Published Features | Do they have work featured in prominent and industry-leading wedding publications like Style Me Pretty? While it might not be especially important to you, it does bolster those aforementioned professional accolades.
  • Hours of Coverage | How long will they be available on your wedding day? Do you need them from morning until midnight, or would six hours suffice?
  • Second Shooters | A second shooter is, of course, an additional expense, but having one will allow for more moments to be captured during larger weddings. Unless your wedding is small and intimate, a second shooter is pretty much a must. You can trust your photographer’s recommendation on this.
  • Travel Expenses | Will the photographer need to travel a long distance to attend your wedding? What sort of traveling expenses might they incur? You’ll be responsible for covering these additional costs.
  • Hours of Editing | So much time and energy is put into editing the photos from your day! As a rule of thumb, the more hours of coverage you have, the more time the gallery will take to edit.
  • Gear | The tools a photographer uses are costly and, as such, can factor into pricing. This includes state of the art cameras, lenses, lights, reflectors, styling mats, film (if a film photographer), etc. Top notch photographers replace their gear regularly!
  • Album Costs | Most good photography packages include luxe photo albums, and the cost to have one made will be included in your pricing should you choose to order one. We’re big fans of albums and will always recommend that you do one. Yes, it can add up, but you won’t want to skimp on this—it’s one of the best keepsakes you’ll have in life.
  • Insurance | Many high-end photographers have business insurance to cover any liability concerns that could arise (for example: if they accidentally break a glass at the venue, or if a guest trips over their camera bag or injures him/herself on a piece of photo equipment).

Because of all these factors, photographers are available for work at several pricing tiers. Keep in mind that those priced lower generally have less experience, less education, and less (or lower quality) equipment. So, if you’re looking at $ versus $$$ vendors, put in some extra time to really research them and their abilities. If you decide to inquire with them, ask about their process and background to make sure you trust them with your day.

“Every photographer is priced differently and offers a different experience to their couples. We are not all the same! Photographers differ by personality, editing style, what medium they use to create their images, the deliverables they offer, the number of shooters they offer, the experience of those second shooters, the number of images they deliver to clients, the amount of hours they spend with you on the wedding day, years of experience, the number of weddings they’ve shot, and many other variables. You’re not just comparing apples to apples when it comes to photographers.”
