For This Couple, Family + Friends Were the Focus of the Big Day

For this gorgeous Bride and her handsome Groom, their vision for a wedding was a personal, intimate affair that was all about our love, and giving close friends and family a fantastic weekend. With a special emphasis on honoring his deceased parents and her Jewish heritage, Hunter & Company brought this day together perfectly. See it all from Anne Ciotola and Light The Moment in The Vault!

From The Bride…Ralph Waldo Emerson once said that the only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be. I lived by those words, but it wasn’t until I fell in love with my husband that I realized that the person I decided to be with (aka the man I was destined to marry) would also play a big role in shaping me.

I was introduced to Greg by a mutual friend a few days after I relocated to San Francisco for work, and we just clicked. People say that when it’s right it’s easy, and it was always just so easy with Greg. I was quick to fall in love with him, for his charismatic charm, impeccable manners, big heart, twinkling blue eyes, but most of all for his unflappable integrity and sense of morality. I have never met a better man, and I knew I was going to marry him when I realized that I became the best version of myself when I was with him.

In early September, he got down on one knee in a beautiful garden in France’s Rhone region, and neither of us wanted to wait until summertime to tie the knot. We happened to spend a weekend at the Ritz-Carlton in Lake Tahoe for a charity event benefiting Make-A-Wish just after our engagement, and we realized it was a perfect winter wedding venue. Greg is from Melbourne and I grew up between the super warm climates of LA and Tel Aviv, so we were both enchanted by the idea of a snow-covered wedding.

We had the same goals in mind for our wedding-we both wanted a personal and intimate affair that was all about our love, while giving our close friends and family a fantastic weekend. We also wanted to honor Greg’s deceased parents, as well as my Jewish heritage.

I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by Sleeping At Last played as Greg walked down the aisle, and my parents walked me down the aisle to the instrumental tune of I’m Kissing You by Des’ree. Charms with photos of Greg’s parents hung from my bouquet, and memorial candles inscribed with their names and birth dates flickered in front of us as we stood under the gorgeous and elaborate floral chuppah (Jewish wedding arch). The weekend was everything we wanted it to be and more.

I read an article about weddings many years ago, and I never forgot the writer’s advice. She wrote that while a wedding should be about the couple, it was not for the couple; rather, it was for the couple’s friends and family. I happily embraced the notion, and kept it always at the forefront of my mind throughout that magical weekend, even though it meant skipping dinner at our reception (I don’t think I would have been able to eat anyway!), and never sitting down again after the first course was served.

Based on my experience, I would very humbly offer the following advice to future brides:

(i) Your guests have invested huge amounts of time, effort and expense to be at your wedding (this is particularly true for destination weddings)- do your best to find a few minutes to have an individual chat with each guest, and thank them personally for being there.

(ii) Everyone loves a good photo booth!

(iii) Get a fantastic photographer-I think I found the best with Anne Ciotola.

(iv) Take private dance lessons. Knowing how to move together will always come in handy, and we so cherished that bonding time. We were at our busiest in the weeks leading up to the wedding what with our respective full-time jobs, wedding planning, and acting as pseudo travel agents, but also desperately in need of quality time together. Those weekly lessons forced us to stop the world and enabled us to focus only on each other. Bonus points for getting to do that while locked in an intimate embrace.

Romance and Greece Meet in this Stunning Inspiration Sesh

I love ALL destination weddings, I really, really do.  But a destination wedding in the Mykonos Islands? That’s a special kind of celebration – and the talented Live Love is showing us just how truly awesome it can be.  Think dreamy florals from Studio 7 Florescence and a stunning Costarellos gown… just to name a few of the pretty details.  See it all captured by Elias Kordelakos in THE VAULT and in a beautiful film from Lux Filmography below.

MustWatch_swash-01

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/172913733 600 338]

From Live Love… Having visited Mykonos so many times it’s hard to tell when exactly the idea for this photo shoot was born.

The bright sun, the Mediterranean blue, the endless horizon and the white houses of Mykonos feel like they’ve casted a spell and inspired emotions no one can resist and it felt like the scenery chose us for this bold and unique project.

While trying to find an out of the ordinary venue to host our project, we consulted our concierge expert Yannis Stasinopoulos of the Luxury Concierge we came across to The One Mykonos private villas in Agios Yannis, a small village with enormous scenery in the south-east side of Mykonos.

We brought together romantic pink and luxury pink gold which led us to a chic and dreamy result for our photo shoot captured by the creative eyes of the photographer Elias Kordelakos.

Nude pink linen combined with a touch of gold cutlery, all provided by White Lilac, was our table setting which was next completed and uplifted by the upside down flower arrangement hanging on top of the table. We decided not to go with the expected centerpiece and Studio 7 Mykonos undertook to make it possible. Of course it wouldn’t be a complete setting without elegant and classy stationery created by the talented Pavlos Leventellis of the Atelier Invitations.

In keeping with the romantic theme our model is wearing a harmonious yet astounding white wedding dress by Christos Costarellos to match the beauty of the island. The fuchsia flower headpiece on her hair is ascending the look and so is the beautiful and elegant make up done by Irene Chaleli and classy styled hair by Vassilis P. Diamantopoulos Hair Studio.

Taste is also a sense that needs to be pleased in a wedding and that’s why we decided to create a delicious and inviting buffet for the cheese and cold meat lovers especially, put together by ARIA Fine Catering and showcased on beautiful white consoles of Zazoo Event Rentals that also provided the rest of the furnitures. As for the exceptional cake, Pavlov’s Lab put all its effort to impress us and it really did.

As the sun sets in Mykonos, Sounds Good undertook to enlighten us along with our setting and unveil another more playful/party point of view.

All of the above could never have been concluded without the help of the FSD event logistics agency that arranged the transportation of all the needed details so as to have such a result.

Last but not least, so as to trigger more senses and convey emotions, Christina Kontoyannis of Lux filmography created a journey to the wonderful island of Mykonos through icons and music, trying to share the sweat taste that such a project left in each and every one that participated.

Live Love the event maker is here to make dreams come true through avant-garde aesthetics and successful planning skills.

#SMPWedding101 – Why You Should Have Hair + Makeup Done For Your Engagement Shoot

I love my engagement pics. They were fun and fabulous and a great way to get comfy in front of the camera before our big day. Only regret? I wish I’d had someone spruce up my hair and makeup. It would have been the little touch that made all the difference. If only I’d heard makeup artist Carly Pribich’s wise words beforehand; as a proponent of having your makeup professionally done for your e-shoot, she’ll have you convinced in no time! See below for all the reasons why!

Reason #1

Makeup artists know how to design looks that translate well on camera. This way everything will look fresh and beautiful. We are aware of how products and color will show up in different lighting, seasons, times of day and coordinate with your outfit. This is important because not all products look the same as they do in person on every individual.

Reason #2

Looks by makeup artists are designed for longevity – this way you won’t have to worry about constantly touching up or worrying if your makeup will last. I always call my prep and priming for my clients the “infrastructure of the look” because that’s what really sets apart a professional – ensuring their look will last.

Reason #3

It’s a great excuse to have your hair and makeup done for a special occasion! You still want to look like yourself and this a nice way to enhance that in a more polished way, with the advice and expertise of an artist to work with you to help create that look. A makeup artist can highlight your best features so that they are enhanced in person and on camera. I often work with clients who prefer a more natural look (my favorite) and this is such a great opportunity for me as an artist to selectivity enhance certain features that I can play up for the camera but they don’t look or feel overdone.

Reason #4

It’s a confidence booster – most of my brides-to- be haven’t had their photos professionally taken and are a little nervous. Having your makeup and hair done makes you feel more put together – and it’s a chance to be pampered too!

Reason #5

It’s an investment for your photos! You’ll look like the best version of yourself and have these photos to cherish throughout the years. You may not always be looking directly at the makeup every time you see them, but you will remember how effortlessly beautiful and confident you felt!

See Style Blogger Taylor-Rae’s Bridal Shower

Leave it to the ever-so-chic Style Souffle to have a bridal shower decked out in pretty. Beginning with a champagne-stocked bar cart and ending with a floral handpainted cake, it’s the kind of party that’ll perfectly kick off your own weekend festivities and we’re diving right in. More from Josh Deaton in The Vault!

From Style Souffle… First comes love, then comes marriage… but before that there are a few events along the way that every bride and groom-to-be look forward to experiencing. One of which is the bridal shower! Unlike Taylor-Rae’s soft-romantic, European countryside inspired wedding, this was the perfect opportunity to embrace her love for bright colors and beautiful florals in a Boho-Chic inspired bridal shower and luncheon. Her mom, a former corporate event planner, worked with a team of local vendors to bring the bride-to-be’s vision to life at the intimate party on May 15, 2016, at a family friend’s estate in Charlotte, North Carolina. Thirty guests celebrated the bride-to-be in a festive fête designed in pops of fuchsia, vibrant orange and mixed metallics.

Beautiful ombre watercolor invitations set the tone for the party and read, “Please join us to Celebrate Taylor-Rae with an Afternoon of Love and Laughter before the Happily Ever After.” The invitations matched the menu cards displayed that afternoon.

August Lily created arrangements of Tulips, Garden Roses, Carnations, Gerbera Daisies, Snap Dragons and Iris’ that were displayed on the mantle and throughout the house. A wide selection of foliage (including ferns, rose hips and ivy) were mixed in for texture to create a boho, natural vibe. Trademark of the theme, the bride adorned a beautiful flower crown that coordinated with the floral arrangements.

As guests’ arrived, they signed an adorable Minted “XOXO” print, which would later be displayed amongst the gallery wall in the brides office – who is Founding Editor of Lifestyle & Fashion blog, Style Souffle (@stylesouffle). Guests were also asked to leave a token of advice on slips of handmade paper infused with flower petals for the bride to read on her wedding day!

Rather than having a seated luncheon, guests helped themselves to a selection of heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by Dean & Deluca, which included: shrimp with lime dressing, tea sandwiches, tuscan bean dip, cajun crab cake bites, a variety of tossed salads and antipasto platers. A handpainted cake by WOW Factor Cakes was the centerpiece of the dessert table. Fresh fruit, macaroons and truffles were also offered.

The weather couldn’t have been better that afternoon, and everyone eventually found themselves setting by the pool for a fun guessing game with questions selected specifically for Taylor-Rae and her groom – who made a surprise appearance! All in all, it was a lovely shower and Josh Deaton was there to capture it all on film!

Escape the Oridnary with This Stylish Resort Inspired Engagement Session

Summer is here and it’s time to soak up the season. First up? This stylishly saturated engagement session from Jen Huang. Bursting with blooming rosebuds and a dress we’re about all about to be borderline uhb-sessed with, we’ve got it all waiting for you to pin and peruse via The Vault!

From Jen HuangYou might recognize this stylish and gorgeous bride and groom to-be as Lauren Anaka and Luca Sbisa – Luca plays for the NHL (Vancouver Canucks). I’m so excited to share their beautiful, lush, tropical engagement photos shot in Santa Barbara, California. Lauren’s Cartier jewelry, beautiful white lace dress, and simple heels were perfect resort-wear for the lush, tropical landscape that we shot in – the photos almost remind me of shooting in Hawaii. I love that Santa Barbara is host to so many different types of foliage so that we can go from desert landscapes to rainforest gardens. One of my favorite photos is that of Lauren running alongside Luca, especially because she did it so gracefully in her Saint Laurent high heels! Such a delightful couple, I can’t wait for their wedding coming up in a few months!

How to Make Decorative Flower Sticks

A Hanging Dessert Bar = Wedding Goals

I have a theory and it goes a little something like this: dessert calories don’t count. That is, so long as said dessert calories are served suspended in the air. Which is exactly the type of guilt free indulgence you’ll find in The Vault courtesy of this stunner of a celebration. Filled with so yummy sweets and delightful details, Michael And Carina Photography snapped every blissful moment to share!

From Michael And Carina PhotographyThe pastel color palette and elegant setting made for a beautiful wedding to document. Due to rain on their wedding day, the ceremony was moved to the tent, which was styled so beautifully by C&D events and transformed into an intimate and romantic setting.

Best Wedding Backdrop EVER!

I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that it’s often a bride’s fashion choices, or the delightful reception details that grab my attention more than others. Well, not here. Simply put, this ceremony rocks. Our creative Groom and his future father-in-law created one amazing backdrop that his beautiful Bride didn’t see until she took that walk down the aisle. Aria Studios captured every bit – all in our Vault this way!

From the Bride… George and I first met in Los Angeles in 2010. George is a typographer and I’m a photographer. After many years of seeing each other’s imagery, we finally put together our first art show, “Passage”, in 2013. It was within the process of creating together, that our love grew. Collaborating is still very much a part of our relationship, so planning a wedding together was something I knew we would both enjoy!

When my parents asked us what we wanted our wedding day to be like, we told them we wanted to bring our family and closest friends to enjoy the beauty of Maui. I used to live on Maui when I was a young girl, so it has, and always will be, a second home to our family. Once we set the beautiful location at the Royal Lahaina, our entire family got to creating! Another great part of planning was finding my wedding dress with my mom in Colorado. The amazing staff at Emma & Grace Bridal put together all my wedding dress wish list items with their in-house designer! From start to finish, it was one of the most unique and memorable experiences for a bride to have! It was truly my dream dress.

Planning a wedding can be a very daunting task. There are so many essential items (Save-The-Dates, invitations, RSVP cards, ceremony/reception decor, favors, etc). In browsing endless websites, we gathered as much inspiration as we could and decided to make everything we needed instead! Invitations, Save-The-Date postcards, RSVP’s, ceremony programs, reception signs, wedding favors, etc. All were conceptualized and created by George and I.

One of the most special pieces created at our wedding was our ceremony backdrop. George and my father worked on this for several months in secret, and the first time I saw it was when I was walking down the aisle. George drew the canvas and my dad built the entire structure and stand. It was a breathtaking moment. To have that as a backdrop to our entire wedding, is something we will remember forever.

Our incredibly talented friends also lent their crafts to making our day a true celebration. Sorah Yang is a dear friend and the first time we ever heard her sing was when she graciously volunteered to perform at “Passage”. We were immediately moved to tears. Having her sing our wedding entrance and first dances was a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Also, present at “Passage” was our MC, Amanda Suk. Sukie is one of my best friends and having her MC our wedding was such a natural fit. Pukalani Hula Hale (the group I danced for as a young girl) performed. The Company (Daly City, CA), a dance crew George was apart of for nine years also performed. DJ Druskee, a dear friend to both of us, brought our reception to life. Adam Vida also blessed us with a surprise performance.

Capturing all the handmade details, performances, and moments in between was no easy task. A family friend recommended Aria Studios and we couldn’t be more happy with the imagery taken by their remarkable team. Holly and Jonas are a dream team. They moved seamlessly through a few schedule changes and truly captured the feeling of our day. As a photographer, I know weddings can be stressful and difficult, but I am so blown away with their team’s talent!

We can confidently say that we made our wedding a true celebration of who we are as individuals and together. Nothing at our wedding was pre-packaged for us. We enjoyed having a hand in creating art pieces for all aspects. So much of our union is a testament to the support of our friends and family, and we were honored to have them there to celebrate with us!

How a Pop of Red Transformed This Entire Wedding

You might believe you’ve seen every wedding color palette in the world of Pinterest, but you better think again. Let’s just say this entire gallery from Michael and Carina Photography is about to become your new inspiration BFF.

From Michael and Carina PhotographyCassie and Stephen are perfect together! They are incredibly gorgeous and stylish and head over heels in love. Cassie rocked her Rue de Seine “Fox” gown; it added a Bohemian flair to their outdoor winery wedding. The bride chose a lavish red-toned bouquet to compliment the intricate dress design. Her vintage inspired ring and dried flower paper goods fit the classic aesthetic perfectly.

Stephen and Cassie have been in a long distance relationship for a while; trial by fire. Their time apart from one another has finally come to an end! The couple married in an emotional outdoor ceremony on the lawn of the classic Williamsburg Winery surrounded by their friends and family.

The reception space inside the European-style winery hall was decorated with greenery, florals and candles. The cake table display offered something for every taste: from lavender macaroons to a red and gold plated wedding cake, it was both a visual and a tasty feast.

5 Tips to Avoid Damaging Your Color-Treated Hair

Raise your hand if you are guilty of not giving your color treated locks the love and attention they need. I’m so guilty, I should probably not be allowed to have hair. Alas there are 5 so easy to manage things you can do to not only nourish but really make that head of hair shine. Brittany of Life Set Sail is letting us in on her 5 secrets to caring for color processed hair. Can you say #lifesaver?

When Emma Roberts wrapped season one of Scream Queens and got her fresh blonde bob with the help of Olaplex I was intrigued…first of all, what is it and why should I care if I use it or not? After a little research I discovered that is it basically a product that you add to the hair color that significantly reduces breakage during processing. It actually makes your hair stronger…wait, what? This means than brunettes can go from their natural color to platinum in one visit which, lets face it, is a lot more desirable than coming back over and over just to get a little bit closer to you end goal.

So anyway, if you want to go blonde you should definitely look into this service. I got mine done at our local Hedkandi salon in Bankers Hall. They even have a take-home treatment which I’ve been using once a week that will continue to strengthen my hair until I choose to go to the salon again.

Next up we’ve got to talk about toners! Now if you are already blonde or have been in the past you will already know the importance of a purple shampoo/conditioner. The reason to use this is to keep your locks from looking brassy. There are a lot of products on the market, but I’ve especially been loving the Fabuloso Platinum Colour Intensifying Conditioner which is basically a makeover in a bottle and free from yucky stuff like ammonia and peroxide. All you need is three minutes, once a week…done.

Of course what would proper haircare be without the appropriate shampoo and conditioner? If you have color treated hair make sure what you’re using is friendly to your hair type! I’ve been using the Bumble and Bumble Full Potential line because it’s both color friendly and strengthens hair. Oh yah, it smells amazing too.

When it comes to styling, always remember to apply a heat protectant or hair primer first. Good ones will product from both thermal and UV rays, but many of them do a bunch of other stuff too like detangle hair, reduce frizz, and condition. My favorites are the Unite 7 Seconds Leave In Conditioner and the Bumble and Bumble Primer.

If you can get away with it, minimal heat styling will always help to repair and strengthen damaged hair. And if you can’t then a hair mask now and then never hurt anyone!

From The Bride…I’m not one who dreamed of my wedding since grade school, so when it came time to plan, I thought I was a chill bride open to anything. Turns out I am actually a carbon copy of Sally from When Harry Met Sally: the high-maintenance pain who swears she’s low maintenance. I discovered I had all sorts of opinions about what I didn’t want—no mason jars, no colorful back lighting, no bodacious sculptures in ice—and few about what I did.

Because my fiancé Rick and I had a relatively short engagement (10 months), we were under the gun to make some fast decisions. Happily, the venue was an easy one. Gowanus’ 501 Union, just a short walk from our apartment, had an aesthetic we loved: industrial glam, cool metallic wallpaper, and the flexibility to skew vintage or modern. It really helped to pick a place with point of view, as blank-slate venue intimidated me.

I wasn’t really a fan of traditional fall colors (oranges, browns, deep greens, etc.) so a seasonal palette didn’t appeal. We initially thought we wanted gray tones with a pop of violet, because our wonderful letterpress invitations from Brooklyn’s Papel had oyster-colored print and a purple foil edge. Finding the perfect shades of gray was tough, so three months before our wedding I was totally stymied. Luckily in NYC there are so many pros who can pull something together on a dime. I hired event designer Ashley Chamblin to help refine a design plan that I could execute myself. Because Rick and I enjoyed traveling, we made that a motif, rather than a main theme that hit you over the head. Ashley also helped me settle on blush/neutrals for bridesmaid dresses, a color that suited everyone. Being a bridesmaid is a thankless job, so I kept the bridal party small so we could afford to buy everyone a dress that they would wear again. Any style was fine with me as long as it fit the color palette.

Aside from the flowers and table setting, I sourced or created most of the décor on my own. I dragged my family to flea markets in rural Ohio to find old suitcases, travel books, and vintage postcards so guests could write well wishes on them in lieu of a traditional guest book. Planning a New York wedding, you quickly get used to taking every high-end estimate and doubling it, so looking outside the tri-state area for these details helped cut costs. We also tried to use what we had. Rather than buy a welcome sign, we placed my mint-colored bike in front of 501 Union with a hand-tied bouquet to signal where the party was.

To commemorate our separate journeys and the adventures that brought Rick and I together, we sprinkled photos of us traveling with friends and family throughout the venue. Ashley suggested clipping some onto a twinkling star garland, an idea I loved, but I was determined not to have the traditional 5-point star shape (this was a wedding, not a kids birthday party). Finding the perfect burst-style garland on Etsy was a challenge but worth the hunt. When you’re DIYing, it’s easy to drown in these kinds of details. I found myself up to 2:30 am the nights before the wedding ironing our custom logo onto welcome bags or spending way too many hours scouring eBay looking for the perfect vintage toy plane. I eventually relented and rented a few tabletop travel items from Octavia & Brown, along with some great mercury glass vases. When everything came together, I think the overall effect was us—a little hodge-podge, but fun and personal.

The dress shopping process defied my expectations. We looked at several lovely boutiques in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but all the styles I thought I’d like ended up looking like window drapery on me. Despite my trepidation, we ended up at Kleinfeld at my mother-in-law’s suggestion. Yeah, it’s sort of a factory, but the fact is they have a very deep bench. I happened to get a wonderful consultant, who brought me Jayne by English designer Eliza Jane Howell. It had an elegance that my late Anglophile grandmother would have loved, plus intricate beading and sparkle I couldn’t take my eyes off of. Sold!

As the dress was a splurge, I economized on the other details of my look. I settled on some Badgley Mischka shoes with embellishments on the back that wouldn’t compete with my dress. Because I was wearing my paternal grandmother’s engagement ring and great grandmother’s stole, I finished it off some inexpensive, low-key jewelry from Nordstrom. (By the way, I can’t say enough good things about that place for noncommittal brides. They have an amazing return policy and if there are any problems with shipments they’ll overnight you new ones.)

Flowers were one of last things to be decided. I’d worked with Lilli of Mimosa Floral, and for a variety of factors out of our control, (e.g., I got food poisoning a few weeks before the wedding), our plan wasn’t finalized until the week before the wedding. That would give most girls a coronary but I trusted her talent and it came together beautifully. We decided on ivory florals alongside greenery, with pops of coral and blush. The stunning asymmetrical chuppah with jasmine vine was one my favorite touches, and I loved how Lilli juxtaposed more romantic garden roses and anemones with protea and and air plant in my bouquet. I tried to keep the table setting fairly modern and clean, with mercury glass votives and a nubby textured gray tablecloth with a little sheen to it—less Vegas, more grandma’s silver.

I’m a firm believer that no one wants to take home favors emblazoned with the bride and groom’s name or likeness. So Rick put his excellent negotiation skills to work and cut a deal to get some cool travel kits from Flight 001 at a discount for our favors. We also created some custom leather luggage tags embossed with an adventure-themed quote and used them as place cards.

Cake was a surprisingly low priority on the list. We adorned it simply with a few flowers, as the main event was the dessert truck. The beauty of our venue was that you can pull a food truck inside the garden, so we had CoolHaus serve ice cream sandwiches, which were a huge hit. Sadly, I didn’t have any because I was too busy dancing. But you can have ice cream any old day—you can’t always geek out on the dance floor with your very favorite people.

If you’re doing the hard work of DIY-ing details, make sure they’re executed exactly as you envision at the venue. In retrospect I wish I’d hired Ashley as my planner and design-focused coordinator. You will run out of time to triple-check everything the day-of, and your bridesmaids will likely be occupied helping you with other last minute details. Having someone who can advocate for your style is important. When I tried to move a piece of décor that was in the wrong spot an hour before the ceremony, I actually had one person argue that the bride told her she wanted it in that place. I was like, Um, I’m wearing a sparkly white dress—I think that makes me the bride! Crazy stuff like this happens; I also forgot to wear my veil, and the venue didn’t have a printer so I read my vows off my phone (klassy!). You just have to roll with it.

I also implore all couples to take photos before the ceremony. Not only does it let you enjoy cocktail hour with your guests (and why would you want to miss your own party?!), but also it gives you some one-on-one time with your partner you won’t have at any other point. I didn’t even realize how stressed I was from planning until I saw Rick’s teary, smiling face at the first look and felt such relief. Being with him prior to the wedding wiped away all my pent-up anxiety and put my focus back on us. He had rented a fabulous 1953 Rolls Royce that spirited us away to Red Hook for photos by the water and in front of some awesome old factories and street art. We were lucky that our photographer, Edward Winter of READYLUCK, knew all the right spots and whisked us around to the most perfect backdrops.

Which brings me to my last tip: Find vendors who put you at ease. Wedding planning is far too nerve-racking to waste time or money on people who don’t have your back. Eddie was a super-huge win on that point. He didn’t just create amazing shots. He constantly ran interference, gently herding family members into the right spots, even sticking up for the bridal party when the limo driver refused to turn down the A/C for my freezing ladies.

Favorite moment? Too many to choose! Definitely at the altar when it all became “real”—I was finally teaming up with my very favorite person on earth. Having Rick’s four kids there to support us meant everything, especially witnessing his oldest deliver a heartfelt speech and his youngest walk our tux-clad pup Luca down the aisle. I also loved that turning point when the formalities of the evening evolved into a massive dance party/family reunion, just exactly as I’d hoped!

The Sweetest Wedding Signage We Ever Did See

Alright we’re just going to come out and say it, sweetest wedding signage ever. And if you think that’s good, just wait until you see the rest of this stellar celebration captured by Kati Mallory Photo & Design. An outdoor ceremony capped off with classic details a la Anne-Claire Allen Planning & Design, we’ve got it all waiting for you to favorite via The Vault!

From Anne-Claire Allen Planning & DesignThe wedding of Lauren Billheimer and Tyler Pettigrew was a perfect pairing of their darling personalities. The outdoor ceremony and reception at the beautiful Castle on Stagecoach pulled in aspects that represented both the bride and the groom; Tyler, a farmer from a small, Delta-community, was right at home being outside and amongst so many family and friends, while Lauren’s easy-going temperament and elegant style came through in each bit of the design aesthetic.

The layout of the ceremony was kept simple to highlight the natural beauty of the Castle estate and the surrounding grounds, but guests were kept comfortable on classic, mahogany-colored chiavari chairs under the established tree where the couple wed. The dusty blue dresses worn by bridesmaids paired perfectly with the beautiful spring background as they said their “I do’s,” which was officiated by a dear, lifelong friend. A local harpist provided soft music to create the most magical ambience.

After the wedding ceremony, guests immediately retreated to a nearby tent for dinner, dancing and a night of fun! Florist, Felecia Pleis of Cabbage Rose, curated a soft, organic floral design composed of neutral creams and greenery that was carried through from the bridesmaids bouquets to each arrangement displayed at the reception. The Southern buffet served to Lauren and Tyler’s guests was not only filling, but also delicious (thanks to Gina’s Catering) and capped off with an unique 4-tier, marble bridal cake (created by Mickey’s Cakes and Sweets). Family and friends celebrated the new Mr. and Mrs. Pettigrew under a sky full of stars while dancing the night away!

A “Dream Status” Garden Wedding Planned in Six Months!

The fact that Blooming Love Events helped pull this couple’s dream wedding together in six months flat absolutely blows my mind. Because when you see these images, not to mention the beautiful thought woven into each and every detail, it can only be described as a labor of love. They brought on Katie Grant to photograph and she totally delivered.

From Blooming Love EventsWhen Fei & Hang came to us they were a complete blank canvas , all they knew was they needed to get married in 6-months time due to family reasons. Thanks to their wholehearted trust and cheerful nature, it was such a joy putting together this wedding full of gorgeous details, captured perfectly by Katie Grant Photography.

As half of their guests were coming from overseas, the couple wanted a place that carries a piece of Australian history and at the same time has spacious outdoor garden for the guests to enjoy. After some intensive venue scouting, the couple set their heart on Como House & Garden and Quat Quatta as ceremony and reception location respectively. Incorporating Fei’s favourite color blush and the subtle cream color of her dreamy Suzanne Harward gown, we opted a soft colour palette of blush, peach and cream, with accents of gold for a touch of luxe. The invitation created by Michaela McBride Calligraphy had a custom monogram and sketches of both venues, done on deckled edge paper in soft grey and bundled with blush silk ribbon.

The ceremony was held at the pine and cypress surrounded fountain terrace, with Como House, the grand Italianate style mansion as the perfect backdrop. After entering in a cream vintage Rolls Royce, Fei was walked up by her father through an aisle lined with lush roses, hydrangeas, delphiniums, and greenery. Fifty closest friends and families witnessed the couple exchanging their vows in front of the flower adorned fountain and showered the newlyweds with rose petals.

The guests then made their way to Quat Quatta to enjoy drinks and canapes in the green hedged courtyard. Neutral linen furniture, hanging festoon lights and a classy string quartet set a romantic and relaxed mood for the following banquet inside. Under the soaring ceiling, two long tables were covered in eggshell linens and twinkled with candle lights spread between gardenesque floral arrangements in different heights. Each place setting was graced with ornate plates, cut crystal glasses, gold flatware and a monogrammed menu tucked in hemstitch napkin. Although the couple chose not to have a bridal dance, three hours quickly went by with joyful toasts, laughter and heartfelt speeches.
