The groom’s custom-made shirt, reminiscent of the Bridgerton style, was a striking detail that elevated the entire event into a sophisticated affair. What added to this enchantment was the stylish fusion of elements—the stunningly beautiful blue dress paired with vintage clip-on earrings and high gloves was a testament to the harmonious blend of vintage and contemporary fashion.

A Black Tie Wedding In One Of England’s Most Luxurious Stately Homes

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were white, navy, green and gold. The flowers were predominantly white with lots of green foliage; invitations and wedding breakfast were navy, white, and gold; bridesmaids’ dresses were emerald green, and groomsmen’s suits were midnight blue.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

We wanted to create a wedding that had all of the elegance and sophistication of black tie but combined with a party that our friends and family would remember for years. The grandeur of St Giles House provides the perfect setting to host this type of wedding. We worked with a team that was used to bringing such majestic venues to life on a wedding day. Having met at Glastonbury, music, dancing and having a party at the wedding was really important. We picked a band that far exceeded that brief from the cocktail hour to the early hours, and when combined with St Giles’ secret dance floor in the cellar, it created an incredible surprise to round off the perfect day.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We met at Glastonbury festival so I wanted to take Natasha back to our special place for the proposal on our two year anniversary. Preferring to propose without a crowd I asked Tash to climb Glastonbury Tor to find a quiet spot to ask the question and overlook the fields that we first met in. After a brief panic of seeing the crowds at the top we found a quiet spot on the side of the hill, and sitting side by side in the drizzly rain, I proposed. After a few brief tears, from the both of us, Tash said yes and we celebrated with two of her favourite things: champagne and prawn sandwiches (I even managed to keep two champagne flutes hidden). We rounded off the celebrations with one more surprise by staying at one of our favourite spots – The Pig Hotel near Bath. [/field]

Natasha chose a design from the Fall 2022 Elie Saab collection – “A Portrait in Motion – Look 3” with a matching veil purchased directly from Elie Saab. From the bride: St Giles House is an elegant, majestic, and impressive venue, and I wanted a dress to match. I tried on countless dresses in many different styles, and when I finally tried on “the one” in the Elie Saab bridal suite in Mayfair, neither I nor my mum could stop smiling, and we both knew it was the right choice for me. The dress was intricate and delicate, with crystals and pearls individually sewn on that sparkled when they caught the amazing autumnal light on the day. I chose a cathedral veil, which was also Elie Saab, and to not distract from the dress itself, I kept the accessories simple, opting not to wear a headpiece but simple diamond earrings gifted by Ollie on the day. I did add extra sparkle by wearing the Sacora 100 crystal-embellished suede sandals by Jimmy Choo. However, they were not visible until the evening when I changed into a silk gown by Reformation and added a porcelain headpiece by taala to dance the night away.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

Emerald green designs by Jenny Yoo were chosen in velvet, which both suited the season and matched the color palette.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

The groom’s suit was made by Tom Ford, and the groomsmen had matching midnight blue suits from Charles Tyrwhitt.

Bread and Flowers served three hearty courses in the library at St Giles House. Dining by candlelight, the feeling of the supper was cozy and elegant. From the bride: We wanted to add something a little different to our drinks reception, and as Ollie and I both love Oysters, we organized for the Oyster Meister to serve our guests alongside the canapes and champagne. It was a real highlight for our guests (so they say!) and us! We were recommended to work with Bread and Flowers for the wedding breakfast and couldn’t have been happier as they worked with us to create an incredible banquet to match the setting. A real highlight was the barbecued leg of lamb. It was truly delicious and impressive, given the volume of guests and quality that ensured. The wine was provided by Wanderlust Wine who specialize in organic and sustainable wines and were amazing to work with, providing the perfect wine and Champagne to accompany the menu, and we plan to keep stocking up for our own wine supply with the same bottles from the day. Starter: Caponata with burrata. Cured mackerel, cucumber jelly with baskets of sourdough crisps Main: Spanish marinated BBQ leg of lamb with & crispy onions, beetroot and potato dauphinoise, sauteed winter green veg, herb borani Leek & roasted chestnut risotto Baked hake, ginger, beetroot, orange, sesame, lemon rice & tender stem broccoli Pudding: Spicy apple & pear crumble with blackberry cream Treacle, thyme & orange tart, clotted cream

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The flowers were predominantly white with lots of green foliage.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Ollie’s Mum created the cake – a special addition to the day.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Readings – We found this a really great way to involve more people in the wedding and were lucky enough to have one of our friends write her own poem that really captured us as individuals but also as a couple. It was incredibly special. Ollie’s Mum read the second reading, which was a more traditional church reading entitled “A Love Poem Between Two Lovers.” Ceremony music – Natasha entered the church to Canon in D by Pachelbel played by a String Quartet (Cascada Strings), and we chose a hymn each. Natasha has always loved Amazing Grace and Ollie, like most people who follow England Rugby, selected Jerusalem. The String Quartet then played Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles as we left the church, as it brings back happy memories from our early dating days. First dance – We didn’t have a stand-out song for the first dance but both loved the lyrics of Real Love Baby by Father John Misty. It continues to hold great meaning and at Natasha’s request, was playing in the background when she gave birth to our baby boy this year.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

We really wanted to drive off together as a married couple in a classic car and, when we saw the grounds of St Giles House, also wanted to get some shots of us driving the car through the grounds up to the house. Fortunately, we had access to the Jaguar E-type which we felt was the perfect match for the black tie theme. We were also offered the car for our mini-moon, but we neither trusted ourselves through the tight country roads of Devon nor thought we would fit everything in!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Natasha had the pleasure of arriving at the church in a vintage Daimler – a car owned by St Giles House. The Daimler has been in the Shaftesbury family since 1955; it is one of only 205 examples that were ultimately built, making this one of the most unusual models of all Daimlers. Their Daimler has the Shaftesbury crest on the doors, and the radiator cap bears the family Bull mascot. This particular model of Daimler DE36 was a particular favorite of the British royal family and six other monarchs.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The photographs were captured on a blend of film and digital. A Super 8mm video was also created for them using Kodak motion picture film.

From the couple: Photography – We immediately fell in love with the style of Louise’s photography. Louise creates striking, beautiful and candid images and we knew she would capture the feelings and emotions of the day perfectly. We didn’t want images that felt rigid and staged but instead a true reflection of the day. We also felt incredibly relaxed when speaking with Lousie and knew she had lots of experience in the industry but also St Giles itself, having photographed the venue and weddings previously. We are thrilled with the outcome and love to look back over the photographs, as well as the Super8 film, as they give us that “pinch yourself” feeling that we had the day we had. [/field]

The MOST Colorful Wedding on the Amalfi Coast at Villa Cimbrone!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The color palette included all the colors of the rainbow!
[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Mackenzie & Jason dreamt of a romantic, candlelit occasion with soft flowers, but they certainly weren’t ones to shy away from colour. With style and fun being musts for their wedding, Mackenzie & Jason asked for one thing; make it bold! They decided to use all the colors of the rainbow and have the MOST colorful wedding on the Amalfi Coast![/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Mackenzie & Jason took a ski trip to Aspen, Colorado with their two dogs, Daisy and Apollo. A week long stay at the St.Regis where they spent their time together doing their favourite things; skiing, eating at the finest restaurants and they even found the time to visit Kemo Sabe where they had custom cowboy hats made. During a walk with their dogs, Jason had them all stop at a beautiful gazebo where he then got on one knee and asked Mackenzie to marry him. After several calls to their friends and family to share the exciting news, Mackenzie & Jason popped the champagne and went to dinner.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Mackenzie & Jason welcomed guests to their big day in the way they know best, with plenty of bubbles! A Prosecco greeting set the scene for what was bound to be a day filled with fun. After the ceremony, the guests were treated to a cocktail hour complete with an open bar and the best Italian spritz’ in Ravello. And the festivities didn’t stop there as cocktail hour was followed by four courses of pure delight! Dinner opened with a marinated beef carpaccio with ricotta cheese, ‘pizzaiola’ sauce and Neapolitan tarallo. In true Italian style, Mackenzie & Jason’s dinner included a pasta course which featured Ravioli with ricotta cheese and a lemon sauce that was a worthy tribute to their Amalfi Coast surroundings. The main course saw guests enjoy beef fillet with a tarragon jus and seasonal vegetables ‘caponata’ and, to bring dinner to a close, a ‘Delizia al limone’ with strawberry sauce. All of which were paired with the choice of a red or white wine. For Red, guests could enjoy Ettore Sammardo – Costa d’Amalfi Selva delle Monache Riserva Doc or, for white, guests could plunge into a cool glass of Ida Giordano – Costa d’Amalfi Tramonti II Colle Doc.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Mackenzie’s bouquet featured a collection of Ranunculus’, Dahlias, Clematis, Sweet Peas and Peonies, all of which varied in shades of pink along with pops of greens and yellows. The bridesmaids’ bouquets mirrored Mackenzie’s bouquet with pairings of Dahlias and Clematis, pops of green and an added uniqueness in the form of daisies.
Peonies from Mackenzie’s bouquet featured heavily in the ceremony displays which not only celebrated their signature pink shades but also expanded into blues, purples, reds and yellows. Larkspurs, Foxtail lilies and Giant Allium provided added texture and height to each display whilst Roses, Dahlias and Bellflowers provided volume.
Welcome drinks and cocktail hour saw an array of blue and white ginger jars decorating the bars and encompassing the floral arrangements. Whilst gold frames enhanced the bar menus that were detailed with Mackenzie & Jason’s classic monogram.
A common theme through the entire day was the presence of candlelight which was only amplified at dinner with each table holding tealights, hurricane candles and candelabras decorated with various shades of pink. Place settings included Versace charger and bread plates, menus decorated with Mackenzie & Jason’s monogram and the simplicity of a pale pink napkin.
For the after dinner party, the Crypt at Villa Cimbrone was brought to life with colourful uplighting and ceremony floral arrangements scattered around the arches.
[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Mackenzie & Jason’s wedding cake stole the show with a classic dedication to the beautiful country they were in. A traditional, Italian Millefoglie filled with Chantilly Cream and topped with berries. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The procession saw members of Mackenzie and Jason’s families and friends enter to J.S Bach – Chorale 144. Mackenzie kept with tradition and entered the Villa Cimbrone tea room to Pachelbel – Canon in D. Mackenzie and Jason then joined to exit their ceremony together to the soft sounds of Piovani – Life is Beautiful.
Mackenzie & Jason entered their dinner to Love Me Like You Do – Ellie Goulding, cut their cake to That’s Amore – Dean Martin in true Italian style and then enjoyed their first dance to Lover – Taylor Swift (Mackenzie’s favourite artist).
Mackenzie then joined with her dad for their Father & Daughter dance to Days Like This – Van Morrison. Jason then followed with his mum for their Mother & Son dance to Humble & Kind – Tim McGraw.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Mackenzie wore her Mother’s cathedral length veil and pearls.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]This couple’s wedding was a plan B-they had to change their plans after a hurricane destroyed their original wedding venue in Florida.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]This was a two day wedding and the couple hosted an epic pizza party the day before the wedding![/field]

5 Reasons Why Honeymoon Photos Are an Absolute MUST!

We’ve all heard of the engagement photos, the bridal portrait session, and even a boudoir shoot. But lately our feeds have been full of gorgeous couples in incredible locations captured in the latest photo trend – honeymoon shoots! Couples are now signing up for sessions around the world on their jet-setting adventures and (pun intended) we are onboard with this trend as it takes off. If these images alone don’t convince you, we’re sharing 5 reasons why honeymoon photos should be an official part of your wedding photography plans.

You’ll Never Feel This Way Again

Just like when you first got engaged, or on your wedding day, the honeymoon is a special time in it’s own right. That just-married feeling creates a new view on everything from the first time you refer to each other as husband and wife to the first picture you post with your new last name. A good photographer will capture that newlywed bliss and the images will bring you back to how you felt in that moment forever.

Kouvalis Photography

This is the Adventure of a Lifetime

Chances are, your honeymoon is an experience unlike something you’ve shared before. Whether it’s a new-to-you location or an exotic destination, you have the chance to visit somewhere amazing as a couple and what better way to document the memories than photos?

KT Merry Photography

Stay Off Social Media

The pressure to document our every experience is mounting but your honeymoon should be a time just for the two of you. Take the pressure off to take the perfect pic of yourself and leave it to the pros to capture insta-worthy images. An hour or so with a photographer and you can pack your phone away for the rest of the trip!

Shannon Moffit Photography

You Already Look Amazing

Seriously – you have that newlywed glow! Bridal beauty is no joke. From highlights to lashes to a fresh mani/pedi or even a pre-wedding fitness routine, why not get more out of the investment you’ve already made in yourself and capture photos when you are looking and feeling your best?

KT Merry Photography

Quality Over Quantity

We KNOW you’re going to want to post that photo of your perfectly plated meal or snap a shot of your new spouse doing well… anything, but those aren’t exactly printable moments. Professional photos are pieces of art and you will love having quality images to frame and display as a treasured reminder of this special time in your life.

An Al Fresco Wedding With a Campy Twist at Dawn Ranch

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

For this “elevated camp” wedding, the color palette remained neutral with lots of whites, creams, natural greenery and a slight accent of gold.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]When it came time for Casey and Gavin to select a venue for their wedding, their hearts settled on a charming venue in Guerneville. Gavin’s family has owned a home in the area for more than 80 years. He spent summers growing up along the Russian River. Casey and Gavin fell in love with each other among those redwoods. They loved the ideas of inviting their guests to enjoy an area that is a bit under the radar that holds so much meaning to them. A Dawn Ranch wedding was the perfect solution – with 50 cabins on site, guests were able to enjoy a whole weekend away and experience an “adult summer camp” of sorts while celebrating Casey and Gavin.

We wanted to balance a modern style with the natural aesthetics of the surroundings at Dawn Ranch, chic accents that balanced the ethereal vibe of a meadow. For the ceremony, we enhanced the orchard by adding a trailing pathway of creamy white flowers for guests to stroll through to reach the ceremony at the opposite end. For dinner, guests made their way across the creek to the meadows where they were greeted with sparkling rose accented with a edible garden bloom. Guests then sipped their way through the floral pathway of the meadow to dinner. Dinner was a modern al fresco dinner in the meadow, with a sophisticated yet soft white palette where guests dined and danced under the evening stars.
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Gavin proposed to Casey while snowshoeing in the mountains of Lake Tahoe. After sitting through 11 hours of traffic driving up to the snow that weekend, Gavin pulled off the surprise of a lifetime. They enjoyed a night together before hitting the ski slopes with friends the next day to celebrate.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Casey is a timeless, elegant beauty. She wore Lucia by Chosen By Khya – a simple, yet elevated gown that fit her perfectly. The gown was purchased from Unveiled Bridal in San Francisco. The dress was timeless and beautiful – and importantly very comfortable on the dance floor!

Her sister helped her into the dress, as Casey tucked a handkerchief from her mother into the bodice of her dress. She wore her hair down in loose, beachy waves.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in hues of “moss” – from silky to patterned velvet – the gowns were so beautiful. They were designed by Jenny Yoo and purchased through Bella Bridesmaids in San Francisco. Each girl picked their favorite satin style – including a few girls who opted for the patterned look. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Leaning into the al fresco meadow vibe, Dawn Ranch served a beautiful garden to table family style meal accenting local farmers and ranchers where guests could try various meats and vegetables with a wide reach of flavor profiles. The salad was colorful with ribbons of heirloom carrots, radishes, and crisp little gem lettuces. The next course was highlighted with Italian inspired braised chicken with fennel, capers, and lemon and locally raised lamb shoulder with tzasiki sauce all paired beautifully with summer succotash and potato tabouli. The couple hosted a bar of local wines representative of the area, craft beers, and a signature margarita. We ended the night with espresso martinis and a delightful display of mini desserts before guests headed to the after party at the lodge for late night savory bites. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Modern meadow florals were created using mostly locally foraged product such as scabiosas, queens anne lace, and cosmos among others. We artfully chose blooms that felt both whimsical and bold to artistically showcase a playful balance of modern and meadow. We last minute decided to add asparagus ferns which felt like the perfect accent for a wooden river ambiance such as Dawn Ranch Lodge.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We worked with Ora Beth at Flower and Bloom for our perfect wedding cake! After doing our tasting we landed on three different flavor: chocolate with raspberry filling, vanilla with raspberry filling, and almond cake with apricot filling. The cake had a clean white frosting finish with beautiful flowers decorating it. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]We had a live guitar trio from Bella Rosa String Quartet for ceremony music. They perfectly set the tone and played a combination of old classics and more modern hits.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Their wedding ceremony was held in the orchard at Dawn Ranch. Tucked among the apple trees, Casey and her dad walked down an aisle that was lined with white blooms and greenery. To honor Casey’s late mother, the groomsmen each handed out a corsage to the women in Casey’s life that had helped fill that role. It was a heartwarming tribute, and I felt her presence in the sun as it warmed guests through the redwood trees and created radiant flare in some of our images throughout the ceremony.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Both Gavin and Casey’s families have spent decades enjoying the Russian River. Gavin’s family has had a cabin there for over 80 years. When the couple found Dawn Ranch in Guerneville – it was an obvious pick for them and they couldn’t have been happier to tie the knot in a place so special to them and to their loved ones’.[/field]

Chic Fall Wedding at the Stunning Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Mauve, light pinks, forest green, black, light beiges, and white. Fall — but make it girly!

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

A whimsical, romantic ranch escape from Hollywood with nods to old world Italy and Mexico. Francesca and Matt were on a mission to find a venue where their nearest and dearest could stay on property. The couple met in college at the University of Southern California, and the majority of their wedding party have been friends for years, but now live around the world. They wanted their wedding to feel both like an idyllic getaway and a lively reunion. They also hoped to pay homage to their Italian and Mexican heritages. It’s difficult not to fall completely in love with a venue like Holman Ranch – with its beautiful ceremony space with sweeping views of the St. Lucia Highlands, to the gorgeous and inviting guest rooms, to the exceptional wines they serve. Holman Ranch was once a retreat for Hollywood stars like Charlie Chaplin, Marlon Brando, and Clark Gable. Francesca works in casting for films and television shows and was instantly captivated by the rich Hollywood history of the stunning estate. Francesca and Matt knew the exquisite property was exactly what they were searching for. Working with Palette Events Company to make their vision come to life was an absolute dream. The wedding weekend kicked off with an al fresco dinner at Holman Ranch under the arbor covered in vines. The Mexican cuisine served by Paradise Catering was an ode to Matthew’s heritage. The wedding party then shuttled down to Forge in the Forest in Carmel-by-the-Sea, a Clint Eastwood hang out spot, for the welcome party. The bride stunned in her embroidered mini Zimmerman dress and the groom looked suave in his Suit Supply garb.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]As Francesca can never be surprised, Matt planned to propose at Carbon Beach in Malibu using his birthday dinner as a cover. On August 20th, 2021, the tides were high. Matt proposed on the beach in the most fabulous setting with friends and family looking on in awe. If they had arrived even minutes later, they would have been washed off the beach mid-proposal. Shortly after popping champagne, they were up to their ankles in sea water. The fabulous photos of the couple running through the ocean made up for it. Matt then gathered all of their friends for an epic surprise engagement party at Rocco’s in Culver City. [/field]

Francesca did not cry when she tried on the Reem Acra Austrian Gown at Loho Bride, but her first words were “This is so cool. I look so cool!” She had never seen anything like it before. It felt modern and old world all at once. The regal puff sleeves gave the dress the wow factor and drama Francesca was looking for. The short slip permitted a subtle glimpse of her legs through the fabric making the dress both alluring yet modest. Her cathedral veil from Galia Lahav was “Something Borrowed” from her older sister, topped off with a Jennifer Behr tiara and her mother’s Lisa T Fine Jewelry chandelier earrings.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bride had twelve bridesmaids, and they each have their own unique sense of style. She trusted her friends to choose their own dresses. The only requirements: black and full length to match the Black Tie dress code. She aimed to highlight her friend’s dynamic personalities with various fabrics (think: silk, velvet, tulle, chiffon, sequin etc.), diverse styles, sleeves, and necklines. From vintage finds to designer gowns, all of the girls delivered. In the end, they all blended perfectly, just like the group does![/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The Black Tux made the process of finding Matt’s Contrast Shawl Jacket Tuxedo a breeze. With the entire wedding party wearing black, Francesca and Matt both wore white to stand out. The Black Tux also made it easy for groomsmen to order their tuxedos and accessories all in one place. Cooking and good food is at the very heart of Francesca and Matt’s relationship. They were both raised in large families that celebrated big Sunday night dinners. As adults, Francesca and Matt love hosting dinner parties in their backyard in Los Angeles, and they wanted their wedding to feel like an extension of one of those intimate bashes. They know that great food brings people together. They worked with Paradise Catering to feature items highlighting both of their cultural backgrounds – like the Italian sausage tamales that were passed hors d’oeuvres on their wedding day. The rehearsal dinner featured Mexican food: a Fiesta salad with jicama, black olives, cherry tomatoes, Cabo fish tacos, tacos de carnitas, grilled chicken breast with chile verde sauce, and a delectable corn soufflé. The dinner concluded with churros paired with Kahlua chocolate sauce. The wedding day dinner was served family style, mirroring Francesca’s family dinners growing up. Each table started with rustic bread paired with tie dye butter and a caprese salad. The main course included penne pasta with pesto sauce and shaved parmesan, boneless braised beef short rib with a cherry pinot glaze, and seared salmon fillets with a vibrant garden chimichurri sauce. The couple worked with Twist of Lime to create cocktails that matched their personalities and their guests tastes. They knew a spicy margarita with a special chile syrup (dubbed Feisty Frankie after Francesca) would be a hit. The True Gentleman (an old fashioned) was also popular amongst guests. The incomparable Holman Ranch pinot noirs and chardonnay were also poured for guests.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Matt and Francesca worked with Courtney from Palette Events Company to plot out their vision for the wedding day. Courtney helped them figure out details that were unique yet dreamy and classic. They hung chandeliers in the tree behind the head table. They mixed vibrant fall colors and black details to create ethereal table scapes. As another fun salute to Hollywood, they framed photos of celebrities throughout history easting pasta and placed them at each table. Busy Bee’s Floral Design captured the moody, natural, blissful, and unique aesthetic Francesca and Matt were hoping for. The florals also perfectly blended with the natural beauty of the Holman Ranch property, while adding a romantic essence.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Matthew and Francesca decided to forgo the traditional cake route. While they had a small cutting cake, the chocolate chip and pistachio cannolis from Carmel Bakery and tiramisu cups were the perfect finishing touch to their Italian dinner.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The groom and his family walked down the aisle to the orchestral version of “Unchained Melody” from the movie Ghost. The groomsmen walked down “For The Love of a Princess” from Braveheart, and the bridesmaids walked down to “Mia & Sebastian’s Theme” from La La Land. Her parents and the bride entered during an orchestral version of the Lana del Rey song “Video Games.” One of their best friends from college officiated their ceremony, sharing memories of when the couple first met. Going with the movie theme, a groomsman read a monologue by Robin Williams from the 1997 Academy Award nominated film Good Will Hunting. After locking lips to “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer, Golden Bell Music led guests in a parade from the ceremony to cocktail hour. Golden Bell is a DJ/band hybrid group that kept guests entertained with their playful and original style all night long. Who doesn’t love a saxophone and drum? One of the bride and groom’s dear friends is a ballerina who helped them choreograph a waltz to “Perfect Symphony” by Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bocelli. After dinner, the bride and groom reentered the reception in the barn adorned in cowboy get ups to the tune of Friends in Low Places. The bride changed into a Staud dress, glittering cowboy boots and a Kemo Sabe hat branded with their wedding date and initials. The groom took off his jacket and added a Prada bolo tie, cowboy hat, and cowboy boots.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

Another one of Matthew and Francesca’s goals was to give their guests a unique experience. Carmel is an artist community, and they felt hiring Rosaura of Pigment And Parchment to paint watercolor guest portraits was a one-of-a-kind experience. Rosaura also hand painted their dinner menus, a map detailing their wedding weekend & meaningful locations in their relationship, and an engagement photo of the couple that they used for playing cards they included in gift bags for guests.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The bride and groom provided light up cowboy hats from Party Glowz for the guests to enjoy on the dance floor. They were an absolute hit![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Leaning further into the Hollywood glamour theme, the escort board used cat eye sunglasses to direct guests to their seats. Rosaura painted “Here’s looking at you kid!,” a quote from the film Casablanca at the top, with circle mirrors adorned around the board. The guests had fun putting their glasses on and posing for photos. [/field]

Timeless Elegance Inspired by the Grand Architecture of Villa Balbiano

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]The style shoot at Villa Balbiano on Lake Como was all about capturing the villa’s natural elegance and the serene beauty of the lake. We wanted to create scenes that felt both luxurious and intimately connected to the Italian landscape. The villa’s grand architecture and the tranquil lake provided a stunning backdrop, inspiring a blend of classic and romantic elements. It was a celebration of the location’s charm, perfectly showcasing the dreamy, timeless atmosphere of this iconic Italian setting.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]For the style shoot at Villa Balbiano, we focused on a palette dominated by whites, reflecting the elegant and timeless charm of the villa and the serene beauty of Lake Como. This choice of color accentuated the natural light and the villa’s classic architecture, creating a harmonious blend with the tranquil surroundings. The aim was to capture the essence of sophistication and purity, allowing the stunning backdrop of the villa and lake to shine through, while also adding a touch of modern simplicity to the timeless Italian setting.[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]The style shoot at Villa Balbiano primarily highlighted the venue’s unique features, using its elegant white interiors and classic architecture as a canvas. The aim was to capture the essence of Villa Balbiano’s luxurious and historic charm, while the predominantly white color scheme added a contemporary, sophisticated touch, complementing the timeless beauty of this iconic Lake Como setting.[/field]

Classic Elegance at this San Francisco City Hall Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

To fit with the look of San Francisco City Hall, I chose a neutral color palette including white, ivory, cream, champagne, and gold.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Buddy and I both were born, and raised, and currently live in San Francisco, so having a classic SF wedding was an easy first choice. Once we realized our guest list was around 220 people, we had to find a venue that could comfortably hold all of our friends and family. I had been to one spectacular wedding where the ceremony was held in San Francisco City Hall and knew that we had to tour it for our special day. When my mom and I toured City Hall we realized it was the perfect venue. Its striking architecture and marble are not only stunning, but it has multiple areas and levels that make it a wonderful wedding venue where guests have plenty of room and get a change of scenery throughout the night. Once we were set on City Hall, the rest fell into place. City Hall is so beautiful on its own that we did not want anything to compete with its grandeur. My vision was a classic, elegant, and romantic city wedding that enhanced the already amazing venue. I wanted it to look clean, sophisticated, and romantic – and I think we accomplished just that!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Buddy and I have been together since 2012 (when we were both still in high school). We both knew we would get engaged sometime after I finished PA school. Once we moved in together after I completed grad school, I jokingly said I wanted to be engaged by the end of the year (December 2022). We moved in together in June 2022 and were engaged July 22, 2022. My timeline worked! I had no idea that it was happening on the day he proposed. I was truly so surprised. He had suggested we throw a housewarming party in our apartment on a Friday, which I of course agreed to. I was working at a summer camp at an all girls school while I was waiting to be credentialed for my new job as a critical care PA.

I was rushing to come home from work because I knew we had guests coming over. My car was parked on a slight hill and my steering wheel was locked. I tried and tried to get my car to start, but my wheel was locked and I was fully unable to move it. In a panic I called my parents (who live nearby), and my dad came to my rescue and helped me start my car and unlock my wheel. I was definitely flustered by the time I got home.

I opened the door to our apartment and Buddy asked me to come into the living room. He was standing in a tuxedo with light pink rose petals and candles covering the floor. I definitely blacked out for the rest of it, but he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said yes and then quickly realized our housewarming party was actually an engagement party with our closest friends and family. He had even hired a bartender and made a dinner reservation for our families at our favorite restaurant Cotogna.

Buddy did such an amazing job! I was truly so surprised. Even though my sister and mom took me to get a manicure (and insisted I get a neutral color) and shopping the week prior, I had no idea Buddy was going to propose.

The following day, Buddy’s parents hosted another engagement party for us at their second home in Sonoma where we enjoyed the sun, swimming and more family and friends. It was a perfect weekend. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

I fell in love with my Oscar De La Renta gown the moment I tried it on at the first bridal store we went to. It was different; it was not classically bridal, but it was classically beautiful. We initially left the dress behind to look at a few other stores. The next day, I knew the Oscar dress was the one, so I called the store, and luckily, it was still there. We added an ivory ribbon belt to define my waist and chose a simple tulle veil that was longer than cathedral length to go with the drama of San Francisco City Hall. I had never felt so beautiful in my entire life, and everyone at the wedding was raving about my gorgeous and unique dress!

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

Because my dress had such an intricate floral appliqué pattern to it, I wanted my bridesmaids to be in something without a pattern. My beautiful friends and sister chose any style of Bec And Bridge satin dresses in the color sand, which was a lovely light champagne color and matched the overall color scheme.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The groom and groomsmen wore classic black tuxes to compliment the classic feel of the wedding. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]

Food and drink were very important to us. We found an amazing local caterer who helped us choose dishes that were very “us” and incorporated our love of Asian flavors with classic Californian food. We are not kosher, but did not serve any shellfish or pork. For me, the appetizers stole the show – Kobe beef sliders, avocado carpaccio, Peking duck pancake, white soy cured hamachi, and a blistered corn pizzetta. Dinner was a choice between beef short ribs, herb-crusted halibut, or a wild mushroom and squash risotto. For late-night bites we chose mini soft pretzels with grainy mustard (for me) and fried chicken sliders (for Buddy). Buddy and his family love and appreciate good cocktails, so they hired a team to focus solely on the bar. We had an open bar with four specialty cocktails that were all delicious. We had a French 75 made with gin, a margarita made with tequila with tajin on the rim, a paper plane with bourbon, and a basil gimlet with vodka. The drinks were flowing all night, and everyone had such a blast!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]City Hall is so ornate and fabulous on its own I did not want florals or decor to fight against the backdrop. We chose white and cream colored flower arrangements with various textures while avoiding too much greenery.

My personal bouquet was made of white hydrangeas and roses. I loved the dainty and ethereal look of baby’s breath, which we incorporated into my bridesmaids bouquets, head table runner and some tall “cloud” like table arrangements. I wanted my friends and family to be able to easily speak to the people on the other side of the table, so we avoided having the tables cluttered with too many flowers or big centerpieces.

We chose gold accents throughout including chairs and table number signs. I also am obsessed with candles so we incorporated as many candles as possible throughout the night.
[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Neither Buddy nor I are very big on cake, but it was important to my parents to have a traditional wedding cake. I will say, the cake tastings with my parents were very fun – they were so excited to try all the different flavors. We chose to have two flavors, a plain vanilla cake with vanilla frosting and fresh strawberries and then a chocolate hazelnut cake with chocolate frosting. I helped design a traditional white 4 tiered cake with alternating layers of fondant roses to play off the style of my dress.

We also had a dessert station from our caterers which included one of my and one of Buddy’s favorite desserts – lemon meringue tartlets for me and a banana mousse trifle for Buddy. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Buddy and I are both Jewish and wanted to have a Jewish ceremony. We met with our Rabbi several times to come up with various pieces of Jewish tradition we wanted to include. We had a private Ketubah signing with our parents and siblings prior to the ceremony. We honored our grandparents who had passed away during the ceremony. And of course, Buddy stomped on the glass!

We had a beautiful string trio play during our ceremony. The prelude was “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, the processional “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri, and the recessional was “This will be an everlasting love” by Natalie Cole. Our first dance was “L.O.V.E.” by Nat King Cole. Buddy and I discovered our love of this song from the movie The Parent Trap and decided it would be our first dance song many years ago, while we were still in high school. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

The Rabbi who married us is the same Rabbi that did Buddy’s Bar Mitzvah when he was 13 years old. We felt very lucky to have a Rabbi who has known us both for so long be a part of our wedding day.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Both my parents and my maternal grandparents got married in San Francisco at The Mark Hopkins Hotel. In homage to them, we decided to get ready the morning of the wedding at The Mark Hopkins Hotel and spend our first night as husband/wife there. It is such an iconic SF hotel and we had the most beautiful 70 degree sunny Saturday on our wedding day. The views from our hotel suites were spectacular!

If Paris Fashion Week Was Inspired by Palm Springs at Wrensmoor Castle

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]As we move forward from the indoor days of the pandemic, more and more couples seek to make a big statement with their wedding design. This shoot at Wrensmoor Castle centers around personal expression by featuring bright, bold color choices paired with maximalist design.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Pink, green, blue, purple, yellow[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Wrensmoor Castle opened as a new venue this year (2023) and, to date, has only had one real wedding take place on its grounds. This sprawling castle-style estate makes one feel like they have touches of that European wedding style without traveling overseas. The wallpapered, chandelier-lit grand staircase makes a big impact along with the various balconies and arched walkways. I am personally in love with the large lawns around the premises that can be transformed into entertaining spaces but also provide you with a great view of Los Angeles on all sides. One of the best parts about this venue is that it is also an Airbnb with many rooms, so you can rent the castle out the day before and the night of your wedding and have your favorite people/bridal party stay on-site with you for the duration of your event!

Photographer Vanessa Todd commented: “From a theme perspective, I knew I wanted this editorial to feel grand, even for a micro wedding, so the style of Wrensmoor absolutely helped elevate the style, theme, and vision for our shoot with the help of its turrets, lion statues, water fountains, chandeliers, and luxurious corners.”[/field]

A New Take on Garden Party Elegance at Hacienda de Las Flores

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The Bride loved the idea of a neutral palette but wanted to incorporate color in some way, especially because she wanted to go with pink tones for the bridesmaids dresses. We decided to go with hues of Dusty Rose, Champagne, Ivory, and Gold. Then, we brought in texture with terracotta and stone at the ceremony and velvet accents throughout.
[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Sidney and Conor envisioned an elevated, vintage-esque garden party hidden in the hills of Northern California. The Italian inspired villa was a perfect setting for the romantic vibe they were going for. Intention in every aspect was important to the Bride. From the soft, whimsical linens, custom cohesive signage, vintage photo booth, and an emphasis on a natural color palette and complementary textures, it felt like a page out of a story book!
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Conor surprised Sidney with a date to a winery as a “late birthday celebration”. She could sense his nerves the minute we got in the car. He took her to the winery, and said about three words the whole time they were there, telling her they had to hurry and finish their glass of wine because they had to go somewhere else. As they were leaving, Conor stopped them on a secluded path, got down on one knee and popped the question! Of course Sidney said yes! After, he surprised her with a party with their closest family and friends at their favorite outdoor restaurant.. When they walked up, the band was singing “My Girl” to Sidney which was so special to her!

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Sidney described her wedding gown as “an absolute dream!” It was designed by Martina Liana. Sidney actually wasn’t immediately sold on her gown. She loved it, but knew there were some things she wanted to alter and add to make it more “her”. She ordered extra Chantilly lace taken from the bodice and created the most beautiful, intricate soft sleeves to emphasize the timeless fabric on a more modern dress. The pearl sleeves were her favorite addition though, as they were a stand out and a crowd favorite. She really wanted her walk down the aisle to be a moment. The drama of her cathedral length veil flowing behind and pearls glistening was breathtaking. She said she had never felt more beautiful and like herself. Sidney is a big fan of creating your dream dress if you don’t find exactly what you are looking for!
[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Sidney encouraged her bridesmaids to treat the aisle as their runway and really have fun with the dress design. They followed a flexible neutral palette and picked their own dresses that complimented their figures, skin tone, style preference completely personal to them. From sparkle, to frill, to floral, and silk– all of them were individual and different but so extremely cohesive. They walked with a few posies down the aisle, to enhance the daintiness of their gowns but not take away from the showstoppers that they are.
[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Though the girls got to have some fun picking their attire, the men wore classic black tuxes. Sidney loved the timeless approach of having a black tux and bow tie.

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Sidney and Conor spent time with the venue refining their meal choices as food and beverage were two things they wanted to nail for their guests. Instead of a champagne toast, they did a champagne welcome. When guests entered the venue they were handed a glass of champagne right next to a cute selfie mirror that the Bride made so they could take a photo before sitting down. They also chose two specialty cocktails that were reflective of their personalities — a spicy margarita and an an old fashioned.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Sidney opted for a non-traditional altar, consisting of large mismatched, muted terracotta pots filled with carefully curated wildflowers. She wanted it to feel natural to the robust space, creating an almost natural yet intentional, dreamy space to say “I Do’. Her bridesmaids held singular posies tied together with velvet ribbon. Her bridal bouquet, unkept and wild, filled with cosmos, posies all held together by a beautiful velvet bow. This theme continued into dinner, where terracotta bud vases and stone vase arrangements filled with wildflowers, were sprinkled throughout each table. She chose a patterned, vintage 1920’s-esque rouge toned linen to create a statement tablescape. The seating chart table numbers, menus, and name tags were intentional and designed by Sidney herself to create a cohesive, romantic look throughout.
[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Sidney and Conor wanted to go bit and traditional for their wedding cake moment. They went with a classic 4 tiered, white cake detailed with real flowers throughout. Sidney did a dress change before cutting the cake to make for a cute photo moment.
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Sidney and Conor included a vintage style photo booth from Photomatica. They both love vintage photo booths and have handfuls of them from over the years. Sidney even designed a custom graphic that fit on the outside of the booth, detailed with a photo strip from the day they first said “I Love You”! With her graphic design background, she also designed custom matchboxes to match the photo booth as well as all other signage seen around the venue! She really loved having her personal touch sprinkled through small details throughout the day.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Another personal favorite was Sidney’s second look! It was a surprise to her husband and included custom gloves that read “I love you, Mr. Green!”

Secret Garden Wedding at the Athens Riviera

[field title=”Proposal Story”]It was Love at Third Sight! For the fate believers out there, this couple’s love story was etched in the stars, their paths destined to intertwine.

Once upon a time, Rana and Ahmad lived a stone’s throw away from each other in vibrant Dubai. Their offices were practically neighbors in the bustling Emaar Square, Downtown. Rana spent her days hustling at Deloitte while Ahmad was making waves at KPMG. It turns out they both shared a love for the same cafes and restaurants, yet destiny had different plans for them. Despite their close proximity, they never actually crossed paths.
Skipping ahead to the pandemic era, they made the bold decision to return to Toronto, Canada. Flash forward to September 2021 when fate intervened and brought them together once again. This time, they took a chance and agreed to share a meal. It only took three dates for that magical feeling to take hold. They just knew it – this was the real deal! After all, as the age-old saying goes, “When you know, you know!”

The wedding weekend began with a bang, as the wedding party kicked things off with a warm welcome dinner party at Moorings, nestled up next to the Vouliagmeni Marina. The next day, guests gathered at the beach to soak up some sun, take a dip in the sea, and indulge in a scrumptious Greek-style lunch while lounging in the shade of the trees. And finally, on day three, everyone had the time of their lives at the breathtaking Island Art and Taste venue at the Athens Riviera, wine glasses in hand and stunning sea views stretching out as far as the eye could see!

How to Soften an Industrial Wedding Venue With the Right Florals

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Mono (black, white, charcoal, with gold accents. We also have a “secret wedding color” that starts off almost indistinguishable and will gradually become more prominent in the wedding decor as the evening progresses. The secret color is purple which happens to be both of our favorite colors (it’s my birthstone color and it’s the team color of Adam’s favorite basketball team, the Phoenix Suns). In the beginning, at the ceremony, the only thing that will be purple are a few flowers sprinkled throughout my bouquet. By the end of the night the lights, the cocktails, the guests, Adam’s second look, and more will be glimmering with flashes of purple.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vibe we were going for was city rooftop garden party. Part urban, part luxe, we wanted to highlight the juxtaposition between soft florals and industrial steel beams with brick. Those elements appear to be so opposite and yet they can work well together when done with intention. I think that sort of describes the blending of our style as a couple. We wanted the day to feel authentic to us and we wanted to create an experience. We didn’t want it to feel too predictable so we incorporated hidden elements, games, and surprises for guests to discover so that they feel an active part of the day and not just a spectator. We had a live painter who allowed guests to paint a portion of the piece themselves so the artwork is not only a snapshot of the day but it’s made by those we love, we had trivia questions on our napkins, cookies made in the image of our dog Brooklyn and Adam’s pants (a nod to the odd pants he wore on our first date).

The theme of our wedding is soulmates because we both firmly believe (and have been told by complete strangers) that we are soulmates.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]On a Friday afternoon last summer (2022), during a beautiful stroll through Richmond, England (shout out to Ted Lasso) Adam surprised me with a book he had made about our love story.

The book titled, “Babe, You Ready Yet?” – because *sometimes* I take a while to get ready – was an illustration of some of our favorite moments that we’ve shared including the time we met a raccoon in Tulum that I named Marvin – hey Marvin – and that time I was late to our “second” first date.⁣

On the very last page of that one-of-a-kind book my love asked me to be his wife. It was the most thoughtful and sweet surprise. I felt (feel) so authentically loved. It brought me to tears #fullblownuglycry. ⁣

Somewhere through that ugly cry and pale teal eyeliner I said yes. ⁣

This is a glimpse into the book Adam made & our love story…

Well babe,
what a journey it has been.
So let’s take a look back,
all the way to two-zero-seventeen.

From a right swipe on Bumble,
to a wine bar in the E-Vee.
That night you brought your A-game,
while my pants clung too close to my knee.

We chatted for hours,
all in all it was a pretty good date.
But when all was said and done,
all you saw in me was a “mate”.

Time kept ticking,
like it tends to do.
Until on my Instagram – a new friend request,
No way! It’s you!

Many would say,
what you did was cyber-stalking.
But I didn’t care at all,
I was just happy we were talking.

Things started shaky,
on our second-first date.
Restaurants were closing early,
and of course you were a lot late.

We grabbed dinner and desert to go,
of course you ate the later.
Then we went back to my place,
for along night of amazing chatter.

That night was the start,
of infinite more that were to be.
Spy dates, Burlesque dates,
even ones with Van Gogh and Banksy.

I love seeing you happy,
be it on the couch with a bottle of Iced Tea.
Or exploring foreign countries,
eating short-rib quesadillas by the sea.

Or it could be jetting off,
to see the Suns run up the score.
Or dinner at our favorite spot,
under the fireworks of July Four.

You see no mater,
if the moment is big or if it’s small.
I know with you (and Brookie) by my side,
it’ll always be a ball.

You are my team mate,
my neighbor and my best friend.
And now it’s time I ask you something,
something that makes it “us” until the end.

But the ask is bigger,
bigger than just one.
As you know we’re soulmates,
so this journey has only just begun.

Crazy right? We did it!
We found each other once more.
And for this life and the others,
I promise it’s only you I’ll ever adore.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I’m wearing 3 different looks over the course of the weekend. Adam and I are both wearing custom looks. My ceremony gown is by Maria Faribini. I discovered her work when I went to try on dresses at LBR Bridal in Miami. Vilma the salon owner, and Katherine, the lead bridal stylist picked out a Maria Faribini gown for me to try on and then Maria customized the design from there. Something about the delicate appliques and the way it twinkled in the light really spoke to me. It was also surprisingly comfortable. Adam is a t-shirt, joggers and jordans kind of guy so when it came time for his wedding look we went to the best – Michael Andrews Bespoke in NYC. They made his beautiful satin tux. From start to finish the whole process was with Frazier and the Michael Andrews team was outstanding.

We both had multiple looks. Adam had a second look – a bespoke dinner jacket made in deep purple velvet – an homage to the purple velvet tux his dad wore when he married Adam’s mom. Adam wore the exact velvet bow tie his dad wore on his wedding day over 40 years ago and swapped out his all white jordans that he wore during the ceremony for white and purple Jordans to compliment this second look. Adam had the lining of the jacket made from two autographed jerseys of his two all time favorite hall of fame Phoenix Suns Players, Steve Nash and Charles Barkley. A nod to his love of basketball. For the welcome dinner I wore a modern two piece all white number from Australian designer KYHA, another nod to Adam’s heritage. I complimented the look with delicate white butterfly heels from Aquazzura. For the reception I wanted to dazzle Adam – literally. I chose a beautiful hand beaded gown with a structured bodice, sexy silhouette, and elegant train.. In person, the way the beads dance under the light is just mesmerizing. I really love their KYHA’s fresh take on modern silhouettes. I’d wear their dresses every day if I could. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]With Adam being from Sydney- we have friends and family traveling from Australia to Kansas City (my hometown) for the very first time. We wanted to honor their journey and give our guests an authentic Kansas City experience. We chose Jack Stack because I grew up loving their BBQ baked beans as a kid, I still do, and I was excited to share some of my childhood with friends and loved ones who hadn’t ever been to Kansas City. For the wedding/cocktail hour/reception we did a custom menu with Brancato’s Catering. I had this vision of combining midwest food with some Australian favorites. I also wanted it to be visually appealing too. For cocktail hour guests will have a selection of passed hors d’oeuvres that included Summer Bruschetta with edible spoons, New Zealand lollipop lamb chops, and Australian baby potato skewers. During the reception we had a plated dinner that kicked off with a salad course that featured mesclun greens, chioggia beets, and a floral goat cheese coin. The following courses included Grilled Tenderloin Filet in a Peppercorn Cognac Cream Sauce, Chicken Piccata in Lemon Caper Cream Sauce, and Grilled Salmon with a Lemon Chive Beurre Blanc.

Cake was one of the first things on my list after we got engaged. I really wanted the cake to be special. For dessert guests enjoyed slices of a beautiful 5 tiered cake by Vanilla Bean Bakeshop. The cake had a floating layer, edible wafer fans adorned the front, and each tier alternated flavors between – chocolate espresso (decadent chocolate cake, chocolate ganache, with espresso buttercream) and sparkling champagne (champagne cake, sweet strawberries, sparkling champagne buttercream). The cake was accompanied by artisan alcohol infused ice creams from Aubi Ramsa that included flavors like Tangerine Mimosa and Espresso Martini. I’m a big dessert lover so we had to have multiple dessert options. Brancatos made us key lime tartlets and individual chocolate bundt cakes (a nod to my heritage) and mini-pavlovas (a nod to Adam’s heritage). We also had a s’more bar where guests could roast their own s’mores. S’mores aren’t really a thing in Australia so we wanted our guests from abroad to get to experience that American treat.

Brancato’s once again brought our vision to life with 3 specialty cocktails. His – “Brooklyn’s Manhattan” – a pineapple twist on a classic manhattan – named after our dog Brooklyn. Hers – “The Perfect Date” – a gin based cocktail that featured a butterfly pea flower to give it a gorgeous purple color and a floral ice cube. Theirs – “Soulmates” – a Godiva chocolate martini with an espresso aroma bubble creating a fun sensory experience for guests as they get to pop the bubble before taking a sip. It was hands down the best chocolate martini I’ve ever had! I kept seeing guests crossing the dance floor with them, ha. They couldn’t get enough! [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Fun. Memorable. Personalized. One of one. Rooftop celebration with great food, positive energy, and lots of laughs. It was a dream that we are so fortunate to have experienced with so many that we love. It was elegant but not stuffy. It was refined but it didn’t take itself too seriously. It was Kansas City, Sydney Australia, and New York all it one. It was perfectly Adam + Devyn. [/field]

It was to a custom mix of Boyz II Men’s – Mama and Carrie Underwood’s – A Song for Momma. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. I met with my band director in advance and told them what I had in mind and they were on board for creating the mix as requested. It was perfect.

A Perfect Blend of History, Elegance, and Art in Siena, Italy

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Soft French blue, cream, dusty red, pink tones. Paulina incorporated fruit as a different element and texture to complement the color scheme. The color scheme was meant to blend with the beauty of the historical venue.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]When Paulina and Adrian began planning their wedding at Villa di Geggiano just outside Siena Italy, they were looking for a historical venue with a garden filled with ancient statues, and walls filled with murals and art. They wanted the theme to blend with the natural beauty of the venue. The venue was originally built in the 14th century and still has many original pieces of art and furniture, so it was important to honor the history and story of the venue. Transforming the ceremony site into the reception site was a favorite for Paulina, wowing guests and adding a little drama to the setting to achieve that fairytale vision. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Paulina didn’t need a ring to start planing their wedding, but Adrian being a traditionalist wanted to make sure she had something on her hand to show family and friends. The morning of the proposal, Paulina scheduled a FaceTime with a planner in Italy just to start getting organized. Being in the wedding industry she understood you need to get organized sooner rather than later. Clueless on what was to come, they planned on going to the city for a date night as well as browse for rings. Little did Paulina realize Adrian had already purchased the ring, and proposed in Golden Gate Park. He was hoping to propose with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, but it was a very fog day in the city. We had to change our plans and decided to stay warm inside of the de Young museum and explore an Egyptian exhibit. When leaving the museum, Paulina thought we were going ring shopping, but Adrian got down on one knee in the middle of the park. Poor guy was stressed all afternoon and Paulina had no idea. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]When it came to choosing wedding attire, Paulina tried on many dresses (going to 9 different stores) before finding her perfect Liz Martinez dress, loving the unique lace and trail design. Paulina felt confident and comfortable in it, knowing it was just the right dress. Paulina shared a special moment with her mother getting into her dress and paired her dress with a beautiful family heirloom diamond watch gifted to her by her parents. Now, their future daughters, their son’s future wives, and her brother’s future children’s wives will all wear it on their wedding days. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Paulina and Adrian did not have a formal bridal party, rather asked all of their guests to be their “Something Blue” and was happy to see how creative people got with their blue attire, everything from blue dresses, blue suits, blue shoes, blue purses, and even blue earrings. [field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Adrian loves to wear color and wore a custom-designed soft blue suit from a local tailor. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Paulina and Adrian served a traditional seasonal Italian meal during their reception. Villa di Geggiano chianti was served with dinner. Signature drinks were designed to represent their dogs. Lily being a type of flower, they designed an elderflower gin and tonic. Luna meaning “moon” they designed a darker color cocktail to represent their black lab. Paulina and Adrian wanted to incorporate a piece from Romania in their Italian wedding, so while they were visiting Romania, they found ceramic glasses with a touch of blue that all of their guests used to cheers with as they made their wedding speech. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Paulina and Adrian added simple but elegant table decor with fruit and pearled silverware, lighting on the villa, and chandeliers (embellished with greenery on the stands). Floral arrangements lined the ceremony aisle, which lead to the focal point of a low semi-circular arrangement defining the alter. Being a wedding photographer herself, Paulina incorporated unique details such as watercolor illustrated invitations, paper fans with their monogram, and asking guests to wear a shade of blue as their “Something Blue.”[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Paulina and Adrian did not have a traditional wedding cake, rather they treated their guests to gelato. The couple even got to serve from the cart, making for a special experience for their guests.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Paulina and Adrian had a highly talented string quartet that played during the ceremony and cocktail hour, and the DJ and saxophone player combination entertained their guests during the reception. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]About the Welcome Party: Paulina and Adrian planned a wedding weekend event for their closest family and friends in Siena, Italy. The weekend started off with a welcome party held at the beautiful Relais Borgo Scopeto where many of their guests stayed. It was important for Paulina and Adrian’s guests to have a relaxed and enjoyable weekend filled with Italian culture, creating special memories. Choosing to hold this event was well worth it because their guests had the opportunity to make memories and create genuine relationships with one another. Since Adrian’s family lives in Romania or Canada, and Paulina’s friends and family are scattered throughout California and the United States, it was a wonderful experience for all, and one of Paulina’s favorite things about their destination wedding. As a special touch, they chose luggage tag place cards for each of their guests. Paulina wore a beautiful floral Dolce & Gabbana dress perfect for a late summer evening and enjoyed welcoming her family and friends along with Adrian to their Italian countryside wedding. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The most important thing was being surrounded by friends and family, celebrating Paulina and Adrian’s love. [/field]

An intimate garden party with a mix of textures, patterns, and florals I was extremely inspired by Palm Beach and especially our venue, The Colony Palm Beach when planning our wedding. I wanted to mimic the lush greenery and florals of the island combined with the beautiful pastel colors!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Garrett and I met in the summer of 2007. I had just finished my junior year of high school and was taking classes at Duke as part of the TIP program. Garrett was an incoming Duke freshman on the football team and was there that summer for practice. After we parted ways that summer, we didn’t reconnect until 5 years later when I was finishing my Masters at UVA and he was living in Baltimore. He found me on Scramble with Friends and we started messaging. After a few weeks of texting and calling, he invited me to go on a date in Baltimore and the rest is history![/field]

I thought I had a good idea of what kind of dress I wanted until I actually started trying them on! As a pretty big “girly girl”, I thought every dress I tried on was beautiful but it wasn’t until I put on a Mira Zwillinger dress that I knew this was it. My sister cried when I put it on! I love how each flower is placed to create the most beautiful and flattering bodice. I also love that the tulle is incredibly soft and ever so slightly blush for a different bridal look. Chic Parisian made it extra special by customizing the removable straps to give me another look for the reception. My something old was a layered pearl bracelet from my late grandmother who had the best jewelry collection! I love that a piece of her was with me when we got married.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]I asked all my bridesmaids to pick their own dresses because they’re all incredibly chic and have great taste! The only instruction I gave was for it to be a pastel color or have a floral pattern. They looked stunning![/field]

The fine selection of wines and champagne further elevated the atmosphere, ensuring that the gathering was a celebration of love and connection.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]A charming and whimsy wedding cake – a delightful three-tiered creation in a brilliant shade of white. Each layer is a masterpiece in itself, meticulously designed to make you smile. Sprinkled with playful greenery and dainty white florals, the cake is a celebration of natural beauty with a dash of romance. The foliage dances around the tiers, creating a magical vibe that feels like a fairytale come to life. It’s as if the white blooms are joyfully raining down in a sweet confetti shower. This cake isn’t just a treat for your taste buds; it’s a delightful work of edible art that adds a touch of enchantment to the wedding festivities, symbolizing the blooming love of the happy couple.[/field]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The overall design aesthetic of the wedding day was joyful, modern, elegant and haute gamme fashion! It was important to the couple to create a real party vibe atmosphere.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The couple met through a mutual friend at a birthday party! They both started their careers at the same company (the bride was in New York and the groom was in London) and the groom was living with a friend of the bride’s from New York. The bride had had multiple dinners with the groom’s roommate and even been to his apartment for a house party and never met him.

The groom proposed on their way to Spain and they were able to celebrate for a full week in Madrid and Seville![/field]

Grand Chemin was the couple’s chosen caterer. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour that featured passed hors d’oeuvres, truffle risotto freshly cooked in a wheel of Parmesan, and, of course, wine and champagne. All About Wedding Music – What Are the Options?

By now, you’ve thought through your wedding day from start to finish. You probably know what song you want to walk down the aisle to, which song will be playing when you share your first dance, but do you know who will be playing these totally crucial musical numbers? We talked to Jonathan Wiegratz, Director of Events at Boston Common Entertainment to get the inside scoop on wedding entertainment and how to book it. Now let’s talk about your options!

Booking

When it comes to booking you have a few options: go through a third party, like a booking agency or your wedding planner, or go directly to the source. Jonathan explains that booking agencies “offer the widest variety of…options under their umbrella”. They “act as facilitators between you and the bandleader (or DJ) for contracting, communications and planning details.” Some bands or DJs may require you to go through their agents to book their services. Because the agents take a commission, this option may be more costly.

Going directly to the source can be a great option if you already know who you want to perform at your wedding. Maybe you saw them perform at another event or have been following them on social media. If you know what you want, don’t hesitate to reach out and they’ll let you know all about their booking process.

Band vs. DJ

The band vs. DJ debate is something every couple will need to address at some point in the wedding planning process. Hopefully, you two are on the same page, but in case you can’t decide, we’ll help break it down for you.

Bands

It’s no mistake that live bands are an ever-popular form of entertainment for weddings; few things are as romantic as live music hanging in the air. Not only do bands add to the ambiance, but they provide actual entertainment for your guests while they are dancing or enjoying the show from their seats. Live bands are perfect for medium to large venues because they fill a space with sound and also require more space than a DJ. Because they require multiple performers and a vast amount of equipment, they tend to be the more expensive music option.

Types of Bands

That’s right, there are several different types of bands, and we’re not talking genres.

1. Independent Wedding Band

This is what usually comes to mind when we think “band”. According to Jonathan, it is “owned by a single bandleader and offers their band with a dedicated member lineup”. This means what you see is what you get. Most bands have videos of them performing on their website that you can watch ahead of time to make sure that your styles are compatible. Because you or your planner are working directly with the bandleader, you may get more one-on-one service and customization. Something to keep in mind when hiring an independent wedding band is that they may or may not have their own lighting and sound equipment. If they don’t this will be an additional cost and you will need to coordinate with another rental company to acquire all of the necessary equipment.

2. Staffing Agency Band

This type of band is more like an organization of musicians that operate under a united band name. Jonathan explains, that these bands book “multiple events on the same day… then staff events from a call-list, based on how busy they are on the day.” This means that the band members that you saw perform in any previews may or may not be the band members that arrive to perform on your wedding day. Another plus is that this is often the most affordable way to hire a live band for your big day.

3. Independent Entertainment Company

“The Independent Wedding Entertainment Company will offer the best balance between an Independent Band and a Booking Agency”, Jonathan explained. This option offers a dedicated band and sound and lighting equipment package all-in-one–a musical one-stop-shop! Because it is the most convenient option, it is also one of the more expensive options for live music. Another plus is that some Independent Entertainment Companies may offer other options like photo booth and event lighting packages.

DJ

Hiring a DJ for your wedding can be a great option if you have a specific list of songs that are on your “must-play list”. If it’s the originals that you crave–a DJ is the right option for you! But a DJ is so much more than just the songs they play…and this is an easy detail to overlook. Most DJs double as an MC for your wedding–announcing your first dance, the cake cutting, etc. Each DJ has their own personality. You want to make sure that their personality (and sense of humor) is compatible with yours, so it’s always a good idea to meet with several DJs in person to see which one is right for your wedding. Depending on how involved you want to be with the song selection, some DJs will allow you to customize the entire wedding playlist; most will ask for a must-play and don’t-play list. Make sure to inquire about music for the ceremony as well as that will change the time your DJ arrives to set up and the quote.

Summer Wedding on the French Riviera Complete With a 6 Foot Tall Cake!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Leora and Alex wanted to have mostly muted tones with a touch of color to bring in a more modern style, we had a predominance of beige, with touche of purple and blues. The dinner table was very elegant, but with a light pink charger.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vision was really to have a natural, organic style yet bringing an elegant touch. Tables at the reception were adorned with crisp beige linens, accented by beige centerpieces with a touch of purple. Elegant golden candelabras scattered around added a touch of elegance.[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Leora and Alex had a full kosher wedding reception, since we are in France, we kicked off the festivities with a 2 hour cocktail “hour” scattered with various cooking stations, such as Japanese, lebanese, Italian, Israeli… Guests continued their evening with a sit down meal composed of a Mediterranean tuna tartare and a local chicken medallion. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Since Leora and Alex wanted a natural decor, Sisters. & B, the florist, went with natural seasonal flowers such as spray roses, phlox, lisianthus, pink snowberries. The ceremony was held under a wooden chuppah adorned with florals and greenery to match the musical garden. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]When midnight struck, Alex turned 30 years old, which was teh perfect time. to bring out the wedding cake, which was a traditional croquembouche, this one was quite tall, 2 meters high. They really wanted to keep the tradition with this typical French wedding cake, made of puff pastry filled with cream stuck together thanks to caramel[/field]
