Nontraditional Mountain Wedding With an Intimate Guest List

You already know this stylish couple from their Austin engagement session, but today we’re diving right into the wedding celebration that followed. Think a destination “I do” in the Colorado mountains with only the couple’s nearest and dearest to bear witness. One Fine Day Productions planned, the amazing Andy Barnhart photographed, and we’re welcoming it all into The Vault.

From The Bride…When Will & I started planning our wedding we had no idea where to start. I am from California, he is from Texas, but we wanted to find a place that felt like “us,” and have a celebration that was relaxed, non-traditional, and just fun. We began looking at venues in the Vail area, where Will’s parents live, and decided that the perfect setting would be a backyard wedding that felt small & intimate, ideally on a larger property where people could stay, hang out, and all get to know one another over the course of a long weekend. That’s when we found the Bella Vista Estate – it wasn’t in Vail, but in Steamboat Springs, a place that I had never even heard of at the time! But it was everything we were looking for: a large private estate that could house plenty of family & friends, with a huge lawn, and sweeping views of the breath-taking Yampa River Valley below. It was the perfect place to have a wedding AND a vacation with 100 of our closest family & friends, and we jumped at the chance to have our wedding there.

After finding the venue, the hard part started. How were we supposed to plan a wedding in a city I had never even been to, 1,000 miles away from our home in Austin, Texas? Luckily we were able to hire the best in the biz: Lindsey Grannis of One Fine Day Productions, a local legend in Steamboat. Lindsey understood our vision for the event: a wedding for non-wedding people. She immediately connected us to all of the best vendors in the area and our Dream Team was built – Andy Barnhart Photography, Marno’s Custom Catering, Cupcake Minibar Bakery, and Colorado Event Rentals. The best part about it was this Dream Team felt like family by the time of the wedding – we had spent time with Andy & his wife, Emily, during Steamboat planning visits & in Austin for our engagement photoshoot. Cassie Crooke of Cupcake Minibar ended up being the best friend of my coworker and a fellow bride-to-be herself. They helped our wedding feel intimate and uniquely us, even before the big day happened.

Instead of a wedding day, Will & I wanted a wedding weekend, where we could spend more time with all of our loved ones that had made the long trek to Steamboat. We kicked off the weekend with a tubing trip down the Yampa river the Thursday before. On Friday, we decided against a big rehearsal dinner and instead opted for an intimate brunch with immediate family, followed by a welcome pool party on the Bella Vista property complete with swimming, lawn games, a BBQ, s’mores by the fire pit at dusk, and a photo slideshow organized by our best friends. By the actual wedding day, all of our friends had already gotten to know one another well and everyone was ready to party together for the main event! On our actual wedding day, we lucked out with perfect weather. Our two dogs served as our ring-bearers, and our close mutual friend & coworker, Chris Burton, officiated our intimate ceremony that was held on the estate’s lawn overlooking Lake Catamount.

Afterward, guests enjoyed sparkling rosé and appetizers around the pool before the reception began in the nearby tent that was set-up over the property’s tennis court. Halfway through the reception, we were blessed with the most vibrant pink & orange sunset, and the entire crowd went back out to the lawn for pictures & the bouquet toss. The subsequent party & after-party went well into the night, fueled by tunes from the DJ and a late night pizza delivery. The next day, we saw our guests off with a goodbye brunch, and – of course – a swim party at the Bella Vista to cap off an amazing weekend. We will always look back on our wedding weekend and remember how much fun we had with our closest family & friends, and we hope they will, too.

A Stunning Rainy Day Affair, Umbrellas Included

After a year’s worth of planning, this darling duo’s Big Day had a slightly unexpected visitor: the rain. But if you think that stopped them from celebrating their beautiful garden wedding in serious style, well… you’d be wrong.  From the gorgeous blooms from Theresa Floral Design to the mesmerizing images captured by MK Photography, this is classic elegance at its very finest. See it all in THE VAULT.

From the Bride… Only one word can describe May 14th, 2016: unforgettable! Our dream wedding was made possible with the help of our loving family, friends, and amazing vendors. But, of course, our story did not begin on May 14th. Alan and I met about six years ago on a group ski trip to Stowe, Vermont. We were immediately attracted to each other. However, our relationship started to blossom when we met again a couple of months later, when I was staying with some friends at his beach apartment after my sister’s wedding. During the week at the beach, we got to know each other and began our journey together.

Five years later, I got the most incredible proposal any girl could dream of at Stowe Mountain, where we met. We were on our last ski run when Alan suggested we stop for a picture on a secluded trail. It was lightly snowing and no one was around. He set up the GoPro, we took off our gear, and stood by the trees for a good shot. Then out of nowhere he took off his ski jacket, revealing a shirt and tie, and got down on one knee. Of course I cried and said, I DO!

We decided to take a year to plan the wedding. We slowly started to look for venues and when we visited Winterthur Museum and Gardens, we fell in love. The beautiful surrounding landscape and reflecting pond made it an easy choice. We decided to have the ceremony around the gorgeous reflecting pool and to have a tented reception on the grassy lawn outside the museum, next to a picturesque stream. We worked with Melissa Sapio and Ken Warner of Restaurant Associates, who work with Winterthur and made everything run smoothly, from vendor choices and food options to wedding day layouts. From there, we met with different vendors and started to brainstorm our theme and decorations.

One year later, the wedding day was here. Like any girl on her wedding day, I could not sleep. I was up early getting the house ready for the morning rush of all the bridesmaids getting ready, but being up so early allowed me to spend some quiet time with my dad at 6:00 am, practicing our dance and letting some emotional tears run. At 8:30 the beautifying began. We had the Newark-based Gloss Salon come to my dad’s house. They did an incredible job getting all the girls’ hair and makeup done in a timely fashion and I could not have been happier with my hair and makeup, done by Nickie Brousseau. Gloss Salon made the getting-ready-rush calm and enjoyable while giving each mother and bridesmaid a hairstyle and makeup they loved. After everyone was done, our photographer Mike Kehr and his partner arrived for pictures. We decided to go with MK Photography, which was the best decision we made. Mike and his partner kept the day on track, captured every special moment, picked out the best locations for photos, and we could not be happier with their work. After a fun photo shoot at my dad’s house we jumped in a bus and made our way to Winterthur.

It was finally the moment I had been waiting for. Alan was about to see me in my gorgeous dress and jewelry that I fell in love with at Kleinfeld’s Bridal a year prior when shopping with my mom, sister, and mother-in-law. Unfortunately, the rain started to come down right before our first look, but our photographer Mike found a perfect cove for me to stand under and wait to see my groom. Nerves started to race while I waited for Alan to come around the corner, but as soon as I saw his face they stopped and my smile did not leave my face the whole night.

The rain stopped just in time for our ceremony to be outside as planned. I could not have dreamed of such an amazing ceremony. My sister married us and did such an incredible job of portraying Alan and my love for each other, our new journey, and the commitment that lies ahead of us. My brother, uncle, and Alan’s sister also performed parts of the ceremony, making it feel so personal and unique. After saying our “I do’s” we headed to the cocktail hour and then off to the reception.

Alan and I got to take a sneak peak at the tented reception location before all the guests came in. We were thrilled to see all the decorations we had worked so hard to make on display. Almost all of our decorations—the welcome signs, a board for guests to sign, picture frames, and the centerpiece vases—were all DIY projects we’ve worked on over the past year. Our colors of light yellow and gray filled the tent along with the breathtaking flower arrangements on the tables. Our florist, Theresa Clower from Theresa Floral Design, was outstanding. Her ideas were unique, her creations were beautiful, and she made our ideas come to life. Our wish for the reception was to “bring the garden inside” and we couldn’t have been happier with how Theresa captured that theme.

Once everyone was seated at their tables, we were introduced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Decktor! From that moment on the party did not stop. We had a delicious dinner, great speeches, and the dancing did not stop until the last song was played. The music selection was perfect thanks to our talented DJ Justin Parkansky from Synergistic Sound and Lighting. He kept the partying going and knew exactly what songs to play at certain times throughout the night. We had such an awesome time dancing, taking pictures in the photo-booth provided by Escudero Photography, and getting to catch up with so many friends and family. Our videographer, Tom Johnston from TLJ Photography, did a fantastic job of capturing the whole night and making us and the guests feel comfortable being in front of the camera with his fun personality.

The day went by incredibly fast, but we enjoyed every single moment of it and, like I said before, May 14th, 2016 was unforgettable. Alan and I are so excited to start our new journey as husband and wife and are truly blessed to be surrounded with such support and love from our friends and family.

A Pink Dress + Pretty Bouquet to Fulfill All Our Girlie Dreams

Three years, a move, a baby girl; despite all the beautiful chaos that is life, these two still have that newlywed glow, and Tenth & Grace captured it all in the moment for this special anniversary shoot. And to perfectly complement their in love bliss was this Jenny Yoo dress that we all need in our closets pronto and a bouquet that’s too pretty for words – see it and more in our Vault this way!

From Tenth & GraceSean and Quinn celebrated three years of marriage with a romantic and intimate anniversary session set at Mission San Juan Capistrano in California. Anniversary sessions are becoming a huge trend – I have more and more clients requesting them. Once the wedding is over and kids come along, it is easy to do a family session once a year and call it good. But there is something to be said for dressing up, ordering a gorgeous bouquet, and spending some time together just the two of you. Bellatula Floral created a bouquet in pastel hues to complement the soft color palette of the Mission, and In Loft Calligraphy wrote beautiful quotes that reflected on the importance of marriage.

From Quinn… The only time Sean and I did a photoshoot of just us was for our wedding. Our lives have been a whirlwind of events since, from moving to different cities, to buying our first home and having our precious daughter, Colette. So many changes and with life moving along so quickly we sometimes forget to slow down, reflect and celebrate our love. As our 3rd anniversary approaches, we wanted to do something memorable and capture this special moment in our marriage through an anniversary session. Our love has grown deeper and stronger after the birth of our daughter and we feel so grateful for this beautiful life we get to share together. Being photographed and sharing tender moments on the day of the shoot felt so nostalgic of our wedding day. These photos will be treasured forever and they were the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary this year.

The Most Beautiful Wedding Workshop

All good things, that’s what we’ve titled this gallery from the incomparably talented O’Malley Photographers. For to simply call this collection of moments from the Sinclair And Moore Events workshop inspiring would be a massive understatement. Because when you’ve got a passionate team creating undeniable beauty, you know you’re in for something stare-worthy. Pin it all in The Vault!

From Sinclair And Moore EventsAt the Sinclair and Moore Workshop we teach our students how to go come up with and develop a vision, and then execute it to completion. For this session, I wanted to focus on Parisian style. Parisian means different things to different people, and so the O’Malley Photographers and I thought it would be fun to do Paris three different ways.

The black and brass shoot was our take on old world Parisian grandeur and the formality that is often associated with Paris. The neutral themed shoot was a nod to the carefree artisan side of Paris that celebrates casual elegance. The third shoot was reminiscent of a Parisian garden.

This workshop was really special because the attendees not only built all of the floral arrangements, but they actively worked together within their team to set up each tablescape. This also gave them the opportunity to see how 3 distinctive looks came together.

Elegant Hamptons Private Estate Wedding

I’m just going to come out and say it: Private estate weddings our my weakness. Reason being? We get to see some on the most incredible homes transformed into venues and that in and of itself is totally inspiring. Add in the talented Elena Wolfe behind the lens, and well it’s downright perfection. See it all in The Vault!

From The Bride…Trey and I met in college at the University of Florida at a 4th of July get together. He was about to graduate and I was just beginning there. Our relationship continued throughout my college career. Although we were long distance, he would travel each weekend to come visit.

He proposed just before Christmas while I was working on my master’s degree. We went back and forth on what kind of wedding we wanted. We started to plan the traditional big 200 person wedding but it became just too overwhelming and stressful. We decided that wedding planning should be something we enjoy and savor since we only get to do it once and we needed to change our plans to make it something we had fun doing.

After LOTS and LOTS of ideas and consideration we were so torn – Do we elope in a fun place like Europe or a beautiful island or do invite immediate family? I spoke to my aunt who lives in Southampton and she suggested us having an intimate family wedding in her home – that way we could have the people we love most, and have it a “destination wedding” but not too far away.. We immediately fell in love with the idea and started planning from afar.

We began planning at the end of August and set our date for the 21st of November, just before Thanksgiving. While research began online and with the help of recommendations from my aunt, a local, we quickly realized we needed to schedule a trip up to the Hamptons to meet with vendors and wrap our head around all of our ideas a little bit better. We went up for a long weekend in September and met with vendors and started to put our ideas into motion. From that point on the rest of the planning was done via email or phone and it worked out perfectly!

The wedding was everything we could have dreamed of and more. We got married by the fireplace in front of 16 of our loved ones. There was a lovely candle tribute to my mother who has passed away. The night included dancing, toasts, delicious food, and great conversation. It was truly the most special night of our lives. If we could do it over, we wouldn’t change a thing.

Tomorrow or 200 Years From Now, This Wedding Will Always Be Timeless

Instead of forcing a trendy (and potentially risky) style or design choice, these two knew what they liked and ran with it for their NYC wedding. And so their celebration was classic, refined, timeless, just like the “old souls” that they are. And in my eyes, I’d call that a pretty stylish success. Ashley Bartoletti captured it all – from the bouquets of roses to their stunning smiles. See it all in our Vault right here!

From the Bride… There was one word that consistently came up during wedding planning and it was “classic.” From the day we started planning our special day we wanted a timeless event that paid homage to New York City, the city where my husband and I met and would begin our married life together. We knew we were a perfect match from our first coffee date. We were two youthful 30-somethings with older, traditional souls. Lovers of hand written correspondence, early evenings and a nice glass of cabernet… we knew classic and traditional (yet not stuffy) was our ideal way to celebrate our special day.

I am originally from New York and most of my extended family resides in the New York / Tri-State area. My husband’s family is from the West Coast, particularly San Francisco and Sonoma County. Quite frankly, the variety of guests from each coast was energizing as we were able to showcase “our” city to those from out of town while also providing an iconic New York experience to our local family and friends.

We chose a classic venue on Central Park West, the New York Athletic Club, which was a bit of serendipity as Dan and I met in the sports industry. We fell in love with the exterior balconies overlooking Central Park and the gilded gold elevator doors. There was just something special about the venue and the unique, traditional details. The tradition complemented our theme quite nicely. We opted for a white, off-white, gold and blush color palette. We chose elegant fonts and a double thick cotton paper invitation to allow for painted gold edging on each individual stationery piece. Each and every ornate detail of the wedding was carefully selected as we wove our theme throughout the planning process from the save the date to rehearsal dinner to wedding day.

Our florist was exceptional, everything from large scale entrance pieces and willowed, grandiose vases to a soft, intimate dinner atmosphere in a fully candlelit room.

The wedding dress shopping experience was just that… a truly lovely experience! Everyone says that finding a dress is frantic and exhausting however this was far from the truth. It was enjoyable, extremely calm and ended with champagne! My mom, my sister and I went to Kleinfeld’s in Manhattan on an early Saturday morning. It was such a welcoming experience as we were greeted by one of the stylists seen on their popular TV show, and picked the dress immediately. I must say we went in prepared, as usual, with an idea of the exact dress we wanted! After dress shopping, we went to brunch on the Westside of the city where we enjoyed mimosas and girl talk. It was a memorable day for me, especially to have my mom and sister with me throughout the entire wedding planning process.

My husband and I had the most amazing wedding day filled with family from coast to coast, fantastic music, and stunning views of Central Park. As we looked around the room, we had somehow created a scene from a movie. With the gentlemen in black, classic bowtie tuxedos and the guests dancing to a brass filled 12-piece band we were filled with happiness and joy. We hope looking back on the stunning pictures our photographer captured that one will never be able to tell exactly the year or decade… one would simply see a timeless, elegant and special day filled with love and family. This day and the memories made will forever stay with us as we embark on our life together as a newly married couple!

A White-on-White Wedding With a Rustic Spin

It’s no secret we love a white-on-white wedding day, and this affair designed by Joy Proctor perfectly fits the bill. It takes classic design sensibilities infused with an air of rustic charm, not to mention florals by Amy Osaba that we can’t get over. Jose Villa – you’ve done it again and the gallery is one pin-worthy moment after another.

From Joy Proctor DesignBrie and Raphael chose the beautiful Sunstone Villa as a backdrop for their wedding. Guests were greeted with welcome beverages as they made their way into the vineyard for the ceremony. The couple exchanged vows in front of two large oak trees, surrounded by their family and closest friends. Guests were invited up an olive lined pathway to cocktail hour, which was held on the front of the Villa. Making their way to the reception guests found their seating assignments on leaves with hand calligraphy. To celebrate his Father’s marriage, a piano was brought in for the grooms eldest son to play accompanied by his cousins. Guests sat at square tables covered in beautiful dupioni silk linens as they dined al fresco under the stars.

Rustic Boho Chic Farm Wedding in Mexico

If Kate Moss and the Country of Mexico collaborated, we think it would equate to this incredibly CHIC wedding. Don’t believe us? Just take one glance at the gallery from Anne Blodgett Photography and we have a feeling you’ll be hard-pressed to argue otherwise. Because tucked away in the beautiful mango groves of Flora Farms, TJ + Cristina’s planned the ultimate intimate wedding and we’ve got it all right here.

From Anne Blodgett PhotographyTJ + Cristina’s intimate wedding was tucked away in the beautiful mango groves of Flora Farms in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico (although their first look was at the hip and trendy Hotel el Gonzo a few minutes away). The bride’s effortless lace dress from Spell Designs in Australia fit the laid back vibe (the bride was inspired by a boho theme), and Amy Abbott Events executed the ceremony and reception perfectly with modern, yet farm-to-table flair. The bride crafted several decor items herself, including the table numbers and seating chart. She was particularly excited about the Mexican tile favors she found for each of her guests to take home.

Peonies, Paper Parasols & A White Horse. This Wedding is a Fairytale IRL

You know that wedding you dreamed about as a little girl. Simply put…this is it. An epic high-low dress. Pink peonies by the buckets – quite literally. Floating paper parasols above an al fresco reception. And a white horse with flower-adorned mane. I can hardly believe this day is real life, so join me in the gallery by Peter & Veronika to see for yourself.

From The Bride…Our wedding was about being with our friends and family and celebrating in a beautiful place. Working in food, I definitely wanted that to be a big part of the week. Will proposed in provence at the hotel de tourrel (location of our rehearsal dinner) so it made sense for us to return to a place that was so magical for us. We tried to show our friends and family the best of what we had experienced there. I have incredibly talented bridesmaids who helped with so many of the aspects of the wedding from hair and makeup to flowers.

See what Crazy Cool Baby Name inspired this Nursery’s Paint Color

With a name like Navy James, this little girl is destined to be the coolest kid on the block. And her nursery is just the kind of modern bohemian dream space you’d imagine little Navy would sleep in every night. Designed by a mom with a killer sense of style and an allergy to overly girly decor, this nursery masterpiece was born. See so much more captured by Jillian Rose Photography in the VAULT.

As an uber stylish mama of two boys, the moment Ashley found out she was pregnant with a baby girl she immediately started the design process for her nursery.

With a self proclaimed allergy to lavender, ruffles and anything shabby chic, she wanted her little darling to have a unique, modern, boho room that was mostly gender neutral with girly accents.

Thinking she would always be a boys mom, the pressure was on to have the perfect nursery for her daughter, Navy James.

A Ballroom Wedding Fit For a Princess

When wedding planner Danielle of The Stylish Detail set out to design her own big day, she knew it had to be special.  “As a planner, you sit back and watch so many beautiful love stories come to life and all of this time I have waited for my turn! It was finally here…I knew this would be my chance to create my fairytale wedding.” The result? A completely classic ballroom affair with so many meaningful details, including a video tribute to her late father during the traditional daddy-daughter dance. Dyanna LaMora captured and we’re welcoming every moment into The Vault.

From the couple…

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?

As an event/wedding planner it’s so very hard to envision all of the magical details you will one day pull together as your own. Working in some of the most iconic venues in New York City, I have seen it all! From the grandeur of The Plaza Hotel to the iconic Waldorf Astoria, my dreams of a bride have always been grand! As a planner you sit back and watch so many beautiful love stories come to life and all of this time I have waited for my turn! It was finally here after almost 12 years of being together with my best friend and knew this would be my chance to create my fairytale wedding.

Scott proposed at our favorite spot in NYC, The Central Park Zoo with over 50 family and friends that secretly watched from afar around the sea lion tank. As soon as he got down on one knee and I said yes to the ring, everyone ran out to celebrate! It was the most magical moment of my life and knew the celebration to follow had to be as over the top as the proposal!

As we started to search for the perfect backdrop to our special day, I knew we needed to find a modern, yet timeless setting…all of course in NJ! I have always envisioned a black tie wedding set in a beautiful ballroom filled with candlelight. The quintessential venue would be draped in chandeliers, have a white dance floor and touches of ornate decor to create a classic affair. I knew if I took the lead in finding a venue, we would probably still be looking! Therefore, I let Scott lead the search and the minute we both stepped into his first choice, The Grove- I knew we would not have to look any further!

It was everything I had ever envisioned as a little girl, including the cascading staircase leading into the room. Over 12 chandeliers hung from the ballroom ceiling and one of the largest dance floors I have ever seen! It was elegance and charm all in one and we knew we had found our venue!

If you asked any of our friends or family, they would describe us as “over the top”! We love life and all it has to offer and would were ready to celebrate in style.

What was your color palette and style vision?

I went with a classic romance theme. Our wedding was designed on a palette of soft pastels, creams, champagnes, greys, pale pinks and a mix of gold, silver and lace. Touches of crystal detail followed on my dress and hair piece and were also carried into the bridesmaid dresses for the added glitz of the night.

I wanted to highlight the room with the custom white dance floor and added grey custom monogram for a personal touch. I also softened the room with an added chiffon drape on the far wall and projected specialty lighting to add a special ambiance to the ballroom. Together it created a backdrop that was the perfect touch to our overall décor. Warm-intimate-elegant!

Our vision was to create a timeless yet regal wedding that would not look dated 50 years from now. Beautiful bunches of tall calla lilies draped over the guests surrounded by floating flowers in mercury glass. I am also a hopeless romantic, so the touches of candlelight throughout the reception and the lace detail on my dress completed our overall vision of the night.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

The most unique element to me would be the white dance floor as well as the gobos projected onto the wall. In a matter of minutes, it transformed the space into something that literally took our breath away.

Another unique element was our head table. We decided, we wanted to bring our families and generations together for the first time and created a head table for 12. We have our entire lives to spend together but would never have the chance to share this moment with the ones we love most.

As I am an event designer as well, I knew I would consume myself with so many DIY and lose sight of the day. Therefore, for the first time ever I left the details and décor to the professionals and I LOVED it!

What was your favorite moment? Your favorite crafted detail?

The tribute to my father who had lost his battle with cancer was such a meaningful moment to me. I had struggled for years on how I would handle this difficult day without him and knew I would honor my dad in the best possible way. Months before the wedding, I had compiled home videos of him and I dancing and worked closely with our videographer to create a short clip to be shown that evening. It was the perfect addition to the night and knew he was in fact with me for our dance.

Tell us about your flowers, your gown, your favors, your cake, etc.

Flowers:
From the beginning I did not want to design a typical wedding. I have seen it all from the flower walls to the orchid trees. I had always envisioned a classic simple design that made an impact. My amazing florist had recommended using tall bunches of white calla lilies based in a tall fluted vase surrounded by smaller mercury glass with floating candles. It was the perfect combination of bold hues for an eye-catching display. We also did (3) long tables in a mix of rounds that surrounded the dance floor. The guests were covered in a canopy of white orchids, as pale pink and champagne colored flowers filled the tabletop in smaller vases. It was perfection in every way and exactly what I had envisioned.

My bridesmaids had carried precious bouquets of pastel colored flowers wrapped in light pink ribbon, as I carried a large bouquet of all my favorite flowers in soft pinks and creams with a small picture frame that carried my dads picture.

Gown:
The hunt was on! For months I traveled far and wide to find the perfect dress. Appointment after appointment, I thought I would never find the ONE. I was telling myself to settle because I was running out of time. However, what bride would ever settle for the DRESS! I wouldn’t and just then I stepped into the Pronovias showroom and tried on the Barquilla Gown and it happened! That twirling Cinderella moment that every brides gushes over! After that moment each and every detail just fell into place! The gown was a fitted mermaid dress in tulle with a sweetheart neckline, rebrode’ lace appliques , adorned with crystal gemstone embroidery. The bottom skirt had two layers of lace and a scalloped hem.

Cake:
We wanted a very simple but yet rustic design for our wedding cake wrapped with beautiful flowers. Palermo’s Bakery did just that! They amazed us with a four-tiered white frosted buttercream cake in strawberry and cream with the top tier in cannoli cream! I had our florist customize a lush garland accented with peonies and roses to surround the cake. Our topper completed the fairytale and stayed our theme of the day as “It Was Always You” in gold. It was perfect!

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?

Pick your venue first and then let all of the other pieces fall into place.

Intimate Family Focused Wedding – With the Cutest Ring Bearers Ever!

At the Groom’s family’s vineyard, on a hill overlooking postcard worthy views, right where his father and his brother also said “I do,” he married his beautiful Bride. It was one family-focused detail among many, giving this California spring wedding a warm, inviting vibe that you just can’t fake. Mariel Hannah captured that love and her pics speak for themselves – see them all in our Vault right this way!

From Mariel Hannah… Liz and Lucas married within Lucas’ family vineyard, Dubost Winery. Countless members within this tight knit family married under that beautiful and special Oak tree, so it was no question that they would marry there as well. The views were stunning, over looking the rolling hills of Paso Robles as the sun set behind them.

From the Bride… Lucas and I had three words in mind when planning our wedding; simple, timeless, and intimate. Family is incredibly important to us. We wanted each moment in our wedding to hold special meaning to us and our families. Lucas started by giving me his grandmother’s ring while asking me to marry him with our families by our side. We then designed my wedding band using his grandmother’s diamonds. We used a design that she had previously worn. We chose to hold the ceremony and reception at his family’s winery, Dubost Winery. The ceremony itself was held at the top of the property nestled in the Oaks. Both his father and brother had held their individual wedding ceremonies there. The top of the hill, as we call it, is treasured and holds very special meaning to each one of his family members and now, us.

Keeping the family traditions going, I was gifted “borrowed” pearl earrings and pearl necklaces from my grandmother. They were originally my great-grandmother’s and each woman in my family wore them on their wedding day; including my late mother.

The most special part for both me and Lucas was the ceremony. Before walking down the aisle, my father had said some of the most special and treasured words to me. We laughed, we cried (I cried a lot) and then I got to see Lucas for the first time. We chose not to do a first look and I am so happy we did. Our emotions were so raw, and we felt it to be incredibly special to each of us. We chose to write our own words of love, which we shared with each other for the first time in front of our family and friends. It could not have felt more intimate and meaningful.

For the reception, we wanted it to be fun and relaxed. We especially wanted to highlight the beauty of the winery. We chose grey and cream accented heavily with olive branches. Each person received homemade peanut clusters that were my late mother’s famous recipe as the favor. We celebrated with good food music, dancing, a photo booth, and the most delicious cookies, cupcakes and ice cream!

Every moment from beginning to end, felt like us. It was our most favorite day!!!

From the Bride… Mike and I met while he was living in Syracuse and I was in Manhattan. We were both invited to a New Years’ Eve party by friends-of-friends and after a few (too many) cocktails hit it off! After spending a year long-distance, Mike finally moved to the city. Fast forward two years later, and Mike proposed while we were on a tour of the Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate in the Hudson Valley. Though we got engaged in May 2015, Mike had gifted me the tour for my birthday in January and spent 6 months preparing the surprise. During the tour while the rest of the group walked ahead, he pulled me aside in the flower garden and popped the question!

We were off to the (planning) races a few days after the engagement! I think figuring out the location, wedding coordinator, photographer and band (if you choose one!) were probably the four biggest hurdles for us. After those were knocked out, things started to fall into place. And, once you’ve figured out what city you’ll be getting married in, I actually found that the best way to source vendors is through a Style Me Pretty search! I looked through each wedding featured on SMP in the Clearwater / Tampa area and plucked the vendors I thought did an exceptional job from each of those posts. Each and every vendor I worked with was spectacular – I enthusiastically recommend them to each friend considering their nuptials in the area.
