#SMPWedding101 – Winter Gifts for Your Bridesmaids

The best gifts are those that are purposeful AND pretty – bridesmaids’ gifts included. You want your ladies to remember this special time fondly and thank them properly, and when you say “I do” in the winter, it’s the perfect opportunity to go completely cozy and chic. Royal Scout and Co. is here sharing their picks for the best snowy season gifts out there!

Warm Bridesmaids are Happy Bridesmaids:

● Keep their freshly manicured hands toasty warm and stylishly sleek in a pair of fleece-lined leather gloves in a warm neutral tan, brown, or nude color. These display beautifully in a beribboned, white flat box with perhaps some vintage linens as a bed for them to nestle in – truly classy!

● Gift each bridesmaid one of these stunningly gorgeous faux fur neck wraps for the wedding ceremony that will add a touch of winter drama to your look – and don’t forget your own luxe wrap as well! These will sure to be on rotation as an everyday accessory for them to pair with jeans and simple tops all winter long!

● Tuck a beautiful winter classic reading book (such as Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” C. S. Lewis’s “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” Wilder’s “The Long Winter,” London’s “The Call of the Wild,” or Guterson’s “Snow Falling on Cedars”) into a rustic wood crate with a beautiful plaid full blanket to snuggle under for some good relaxation time post-wedding week. Throw in a half dozen homemade cookies in a pretty tin and they’ll be all set!

● Nothing feels like winter better than a pair of warm flannel pajamas. Gift each bridesmaid a monogrammed set of cozy jammies along with a pair of matching slippers for their danced-the-night-away feet the next morning! They’ll appreciate the gift all the more as winter rolls on.

This gift will keep your bridesmaids close to the fire as they enjoy a melting, toasted s’more from the s’mores set you just presented them! Wrapped in its own olive-canvas tote, sporting a buffalo head button-closure and birch-wrapped handles – what’s not to love?

Beautiful Bells + Bridesmaids:

● Keep things simple with a silver monogrammed Christmas bell ornament they can add to their collection – monogram either their name or the date of your wedding with a special “thank you” written specifically for them.

● Delicate and unique, we love gold woodland necklaces with a simple pine cone pendant – absolutely fresh and modern. This will be something they’ll pair often with their cozy winter cardigans and jeans later this year.

● Traditional is always on point – our point? Go with a classic red Pottery Barn stocking full of your favorite pampering beauty products for them to enjoy, or you could also fill each stocking with a classic chick flick or winter-themed movie and a bag of popcorn – possibilities are endless for this one!

● We loved the thought of gifting your girlfriends a beautiful lantern and pillar candle set that they can add to their front porch winter decor or to a tablescape for their entry or dining table… so pretty if you fill them with lights, red berries and birch wood!

● Add some wintery wedding style to your ceremony by gifting your bridesmaids with handsomely green and white Christmas wreaths full of that lovely pine-scent we love! Replace these stunning wreaths for their bouquets and your guests will love the touch of holiday you brought to your event… and the ladies can hang these on their doors for the rest of the year!

Style Advice: Royal Scout and Co

A Feminine “Game of Thrones” Inspired Wedding

I’ll be honest – Game of Thrones isn’t necessarily where I’d imagine most couples find their wedding inspiration. But for this bride and groom, incorporating their favorite show on the big day was a no-brainer. With very soft, subtle Game of Thrones nods, they personalized the pretty and Myrtle et Olive designed florals so worthy of your Pinterest boards. Dive into the gallery by Vasia Photography right over here.

This wedding was a very unique combination of themes with lots of colorful feminine garden inspired elements paired with the couple’s love of Game of Thrones! The couple got married outdoors with a backdrop of Deer Lake and an incredible floral arch created by Myrtle et Olive. A hawk was set to deliver their vows but he had other ideas, distracted by a group of birds in a nearby tree, although the bride and groom had an opportunity to pose with him later! The reception was tented with lots of romantic details, lush florals and subtle Game of Thrones hints in the seating chart and table names, hand lettered by Written Word Calligraphy.

This Beautiful Bride Underwent Surgery 5 Days Before Her Wedding

I’ve read many stories that have pulled on my heartstrings in my four years with Style Me Pretty and those sweet stories still get to me today. This Bride’s battle with an illness that threatened her flight to Cabo for her Big Day is no exception. And when you watch the film below from Elysium Productions, I think you’ll be dabbing the tears, too. When you’re done drying those eyes? Head to The Vault for more from Kellie Kano!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/160146662 600 338]

From the Bride… I was lying in a hospital bed, anxious and afraid, clutching tightly to my fiancé’s hand. Our wedding was in less than five days, but I was waiting for the neurologist to clear me for surgery. This hospitalization was the most recent in the saga of my illness. Months prior, I was diagnosed with bilateral vertebral artery dissections. The arteries in my neck that bring blood to my brain had torn and clotted. With blood clots inches from my brain, I was a walking time bomb and major stroke risk. The diagnosis saved my life. Throughout all of the appointments, shots and procedures, Will was always by my side. I am so lucky to have found the love of my life. Luckily, after surgery, I was cleared to fly. Will and I moved our flights to Cabo San Lucas back a day and made it to our wedding in time!

How We Met: Will and I grew up only blocks away from each other, but it took over two decades for our universes to collide. I’m so glad they did. Will and I met through a mutual friend on a starry, summer night. He drank scotch and told a couple of jokes (I seem to remember one in particular about a French fighter pilot) while we all laughed and reveled in the energy of the night. In the middle of a lighthearted game of Truth or Dare, my friend sensed a connection between Will and me, and dared us to kiss. All eyes were on us as I turned toward Will, wondering what he would do. Our eyes locked, and before I had time to think, Will kissed me. The energy was palpable and a lively romance began. The stars had aligned, and we were finally in the same place, at the same time.

Five and a half years later, we gathered with 50 of our closest friends and family members in picturesque Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to celebrate a love realized. We carried out the motif of destiny throughout the wedding, and our theme, “Stars Align & Hearts Combine,” reflected the idea of fate and the importance of the universe and love. Will and I worked with our invitation designer, Swell Press Paper, to create custom letterpress invitations that reflected our theme. I’m a copywriter, so I loved working on the wording for the invitations and building our website, willovescarson.com. Since Will is a mathematician, we even included an insert called, “Carson & Will by the Numbers,” that listed important dates in our relationship.

A year before the wedding, my parents surprised me with a trip to New York City to pick out my dress. I found my dream dress at L’Fay Bridal, and then it was made-to-measure by Flora Bridal in Israel. It was form-fitting with delicate lace details, and lightweight fabric that made it perfect for Cabo’s arid climate. By the end of the night, I changed into a shorter, light blue dress so I could dance to my heart’s content.

The entire wedding weekend was full of emotion because it was the first time in months I was able to have fun and be around so many family and friends, despite my illness. Before the ceremony, Will and I decided to do a first look. It was an incredibly emotional moment because we had worked so hard to get there and we were just so grateful to actually be in Cabo, at our wedding, getting married.

Our colors were shades of pastel pink, blue and lavender to compliment the blues of the Sea of Cortez and the green of the lawn overlooking the desert cliffs during the ceremony. I had blue flowers in my hair that matched the blue flowers in Will’s boutonniere. The officiant read a passage I wrote about the meaning of love, then Will and I exchanged our own handwritten vows before sealing it with a kiss!

During the reception, we had dozens of traditional Mexican star lanterns hanging over the dance floor to create a celestial vibe. We draped fabric inside the Cabo del Sol clubhouse and had lots of hanging flowers and tall centerpieces with my favorite flower—dahlias, to create a romantic ambiance. Our planner, Gaby Cobian of Vivid Occasions, and the florists at Cabo Floral Studios really made our cosmic vision come to life. I’m so glad we had Kellie Kano and Elysium Productions there to capture the entire wedding weekend.

Our first dance was definitely one of my favorite moments. Our song, “Alive,” by Empire of the Sun, is very fast-paced. Will and I didn’t practice at all, and ended up trying to do the box step to EDM. By the second verse, we dropped formalities and just danced. Then, once the chorus started, we invited everyone to come join us out on the dance floor. I remember looking around and seeing our closest family and friends all jumping, dancing, singing along, laughing and reveling in the thrill of the moment. Standing in the middle of all that energy was incredible; we were so overwhelmingly full of love and I’ve never felt anything like it before.

The father-daughter dance was also really emotional because we danced to a song my dad sang to me as a lullaby growing up, “After the Goldrush,” by Neil Young. After a delicious meal and listening to thoughtful toasts, everyone was back on the dance floor for the rest of the evening. For our exit, Will and I rode off in a golf cart and surprised everyone as ground fireworks went off, lighting the path as we drove away under the night sky. I have the happiest memories from my wedding weekend. I am so grateful to my parents for giving me my dream wedding, and so thankful to all of our guests who joined us in celebrating our eternal love. It was nothing short of magical. I will remember it forever.

Spring may be months away (tear!) but this all-star team of vendors is giving you all the inspiration you need to infuse your tablescapes with the prettiest of garden details. Tucked inside are endless ideas for floral displays, place setting vignettes and more crafted by Madison Sanders Events along with florals by Victorian Gardens. From the Photographer… I’ve been thinking that maybe place settings need a little loving! You’re about to see place settings that make you just a little weak in the knees. What guest wouldn’t want to sit down and feel pampered with place settings like these? Madison makes everything feel inviting – whether it’s chic and simple or elegant and elaborate! We couldn’t resist the boutonnieres and bouquet from Amy of Victorian Gardens, either. It always adds such a lovely touch to let the floral design inspire the rest of the design – including place settings. Here, you’ll find 2 different table setups that compliment each other and a variety of ways couples can create unique, chic place settings.

From the Wedding Planner… I was so thrilled when approached by Jordan Brittley to collaborate with Victorian Gardens on some Spring Table Top Inspiration! When discussing our favorite elements to include in chic weddings, beautiful floral and soft, romantic accents topped the list. We instantly started scheming fresh ways to set a table top with a variety of paper pieces, flowers and tableware configurations to make it special for guests and fun for the couple! The ideas we created could be utilized at parties both big and small. We might even suggest incorporating some of these set ups to accent the place settings for your guests of honor – just the bride and groom or the entire bridal party. The finest details make the most memorable parties and we are encouraging our clients to think outside the box when designing their tables. Here’s some inspiration for your lovely tables because want to see more of you in the place settings!

Wintry Hotel Wedding That’ll Give You All the Cozy Feels

Christmastime may have come and gone but we’re still reaping the benefits of it’s magic. Case in point? This cozy fete at Cork Factory Hotel captured by Tina Jay Photography. The kind of ceremony where the Bride and Groom asked their grandparents to be the flower girls and ring bearers—how sweet?! There’s even more charm in The Vault.

From Tina Jay PhotographyI just adored Jess + Eric’s winter wedding at the Cork Factory Hotel! They were married on 12/9/16, and included the most delightful Christmas decor. It was so beautifully done, without screaming CHRISTMAS in your face. From Jess’s gorgeous gown that fit her like a glove, to the suspended floral ladder above the ceremony space, every last detail was perfect. They also added little touches that I loved. My favorite? They had their grandmas serve as flower girls, and their grandpas as ring bearers. I love when couples truly make their wedding their own! They also ended their night with a sparkler send-off. It was the perfect ending to the perfect day.

Epic Sand Dune Engagement Shoot

These pics trick ya; they look crazy calm but behind the scenes was an action movie in progress. These two cuties dealt with winds and high temps, climbing through the dunes, all the while smiling, laughing and making it an adventure to remember. Alex Warschauer was along for the ride, capturing it all and his pics, priceless. See them all in our Vault right this way!

From Alex WarschauerOne of my favorite things about working with my couples is shooting in fun, new locations. When Chloe and Evan told me that they were open for a sand dune engagement session I knew that we were not only going to be creating some seriously epic images together but we were going to have the best time together and a great story for the books.

Leading up to the shoot I kept looking at weather conditions, traffic predictions, and an endless supply of visual inspiration from other photographers. Because I had never been to this location before and I wouldn’t arrive until the day of the shoot I knew I wanted to arrive early and have ample time to scout. We caravanned the way out there, stopping to get some tasty In-N-Out and to stretch our legs on the long journey. The forecast for the day wasn’t too inviting, 25mph winds and near 100 degree temperatures were in our near future. In situations like that you just have to plan for the worst and hope for the best. I usually have my girlfriend aka #1 photography assistant hold a reflector to block the wind for me but given that she weighs less than one hundred pounds I didn’t want to see her get blown away.

Upon our arrival we were all overcome with an instant sense of being transported to Egypt. It was magical. Throughout the day we climbed sandy ridges, ran down steep banks, and dodged stinging sand. Chloe and Evan were not only open to all of my ideas and suggestions, but they were so sweet with each other throughout the whole process! At times I would be photographing them from 500 feet away and Evan would have his cellphone in his jacket pocket with the speaker turned on.

This was by far one of my favorite shoots to date and seriously the most adorable and kind couples I’ve had the sincere pleasure of working with. I cannot wait until their Palm Springs wedding next year!

Two Ceremonies. Two Sites. One Wedding Day!

Can I just say that Kathleen and Justin deserve some kind of wedding planning medal for pulling off a day in two parts? Beginning with a traditional tea ceremony in midtown Manhattan followed by a Brooklyn celebration beneath the cherry blossom trees, they made a multicultural wedding look effortless as can be. DESIGNS BY AHN worked her floral magic and Sawyer Baird photographed the entire affair, and there’s much more waiting this way.

When planning a spring wedding under the cherry blossom trees in the city your heart skips a beat, in all of the right directions. Right? Kathleen and Justin shared a beautiful day at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. From all the small details to the big ones, Kathleen spent hours working on her wedding to make sure it was absolutely perfect.

On the wedding day we woke up to the coldest and stormy weather that was completely not ideal for the outdoor ceremony that was planned, our fingers remained crossed for the best and we made what we had work, as you do. The bride and groom had a traditional tea ceremony in midtown Manhattan that was surrounded by their closest family and friends. Later we all rode together to Brooklyn – making the ride with their the cutest thing. Justin had not seen Kathleen yet, as they did a first look when we got to the gardens. So the entire ride, he was blindfolded with Kathleen not even five feet away. It was one of the cutest wedding day experiences that I have had the honor of being a part of. Can you even imagine being less than five feet away from your future spouse and not even peeking to see them? Easy to say – I think the rest of us would have failed that task!

As we arrived at the garden the weather began to clear, it was amazing. Though it was still cold, Kathleen’s dream of being married under the cherry blossoms was underway. Proving that even when things aren’t perfect, they actually really area. As their closest family and friends gathered around at the ceremony you could tell how much these two were loved. The outpouring support to keep the ceremony outside, regardless of the cold weather, was just the icing on the cake. Besides, the arch by Designs By Ahn was beyond stunning under the cherry blossoms and I truly think it had no other place, expect to be where it was! It was so fitting, elegant, and simple.

Later on that evening Kathleen and Justin celebrated by laughing, dancing, and even bringing the band out to the dance floor. Proving that weddings are honestly just about a good time, love, and laughter.

Childhood Friends Turned Soulmates Wed in Wine Country

These two? You can just about feel their love jumping right off the screen thanks to Jessica Burke‘s beautiful captures. It’s no surprise that they were childhood friends turned soulmates, and when it came to celebrating their Big Day—they did it with serious style and A Savvy Event at their side. The result is heartwarming moments like thissmiles like this and scenes like this, plus more in The Vault.

From A Savvy EventLauren and Joel’s love story is straight out of a romantic comedy. Seriously, we couldn’t have written it better if we made it up ourselves. They grew up in the same neighborhood, and their families were close friends throughout their childhoods. Eventually, their friendship grew into something much stronger, and they fell in love.

Currently residents of NYC, Lauren and Joel knew from the start that they wanted to get married in California Wine Country. Their love for the region sprung from Lauren’s frequent visits due to business, and so they decided to hold their nuptials at Kunde Family Winery in Kenwood, CA. They fell in love with the 360 degree views from the top of Boot Hill at Kunde, as well as the winery ruins.
The weekend of events was full of adventure. Their guests went wine tasting and hiking at Kunde, and then ate from an assortment of food trucks at their welcome party, playing bocce ball and jenga late into the summer evening.

The ceremony was especially important to this couple because Lauren converted to Judaism in order for them to take part in a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony. Prior to the ceremony, Lauren and Joel took part in the b’deken, or the veiling of the bride. This is the first time that the bride and groom see each other on their wedding day. The groom is accompanied to the bride’s room by both fathers and the groomsmen. The groom then lowers the veil over the bride’s face to set her apart from everyone else and to indicate that he is solely interested in her inner beauty. Lauren and Joel’s traditional Jewish ceremony took place inside the Kunde ruins. The couple loved that the ruins represented wine country history, and were married under a beautiful floral huppah in front of their friends and family.

Upon exiting the ceremony, guests were guided to cocktail hour, and eventually dinner, by a series of floral arches that reiterated the style of the ceremony huppah. The florals and tabletop décor were of a soft, pale color palette to give the evening a romantic, elegant atmosphere. Lauren and Joel selected 3 different tablecloths to create depth and a variance of color within their dinner set up. The tables were adorned with more beautiful floral arrangements and lots of candles, to create a dreamy ambiance throughout the black tie evening.

Why Wedding Videos Are Always Worth It

Imagine this scenario – you’re cozied up in the getaway car with your love, soaking up the unbelievable joy of the day that just unfolded. The big moments, the little moments, the unexpected moments, the love. It’s the kind of day you’ll want to re-live over and over again, and that’s where a wedding videographer comes in. The incredible Julie of Elysium Productions is here to answer your most pressing questions about hiring a videographer, and why it’s a decision you’ll never regret. But first, let her highlight reel of 2016 speak for itself…

MustWatch_swash-01

[iframe https://player.vimeo.com/video/168400850 600 338]

What’s the #1 reason a couple should hire a wedding videographer?

Most importantly, to capture all of the unanticipated moments. The moments you cannot even imagine right now! Many couples forget to prioritize video or really think much about it before the wedding. And then experience the biggest day of their lives and say, “THANK GOODNESS WE HAD A VIDEOGRAPHER THERE!” There is incredible power in a wedding film to fully document a once-in-a-lifetime event in a super comprehensive yet entertaining way!

What are some tips for couples trying to decide which style of videography would suit their day?

The most important tip is to watch A TON of work. Hiring a cinematographer definitely takes more time invested in the selection process than a photographer because you actually have to watch in real time. Narrow it down by what you see on their website – that will ultimately allow you to find what style you like naturally. You may not know the “name” of the style but that’s ok. Just the fact that you’ve gravitated towards certain films over others will define the style that you like.

From there, make sure you set up a time to meet or chat with the studios you have narrowed down. Don’t just email and request a price list. This is probably the mistake I would say most couples make when booking a cinematographer. You see, a pricing sheet won’t tell you how the studio goes about FILMING your wedding day. It just shows you numbers and the end result. But it’s important to find out if their style requires them to be very directorial, bring lighting, record audio well, etc. Each studio has its own style and it’s up to YOU to find out how they accomplish those results.

I already have a photographer, why do I need a videographer?

The medium of video has an enormous amount of power to create an emotional reaction. Photos just cannot do that by themselves. Think about it. When you watch a good film in the theater – or even a cool Superbowl ad – you laugh, you cry, you are MOVED. The medium of video combines the elements of music, sound, and movement in order to accurately document this once-in-a-lifetime day.

Hiring a cinematographer may seem like an extraordinary or “luxury” expense, but in the end, it will actually extend your entire wedding investment by DECADES by preserving these memories in this super effective format. Having great photographs and a great film go hand-in-hand but each does not “replace” the other. They serve two completely different purposes.

How much should a couple budget for a videographer?

Although the perception is slowly changing, think about this: wedding cinematography requires about three times the amount of equipment (audio, stabilization, more lenses since we can only shoot horizontal not vertical, more expensive software and expensive computers that can handle it) and about 5x the amount of editing time. To think about it another way, if you share photos that you take on your phone on Instagram, do you ever edit little videos to post? Probably not because it’s very time-consuming. So while so many couples think that a cinematographer should be less expensive than their photographer, to get a great film they should budget equally for each.

Can I use my favorite song for the video? How does music licensing work?

The short answer is no unless you have a good $150,000 budgeted for your wedding film in order to license popular music (as it is about $15,000 per song). Without going into all of the legalities, it now makes the most sense for videographers to buy licensed music for our productions.

Although this could feel like a bummer, it’s actually a huge advantage. Several services have started up that allow videographers to affordably license great music from unknown bands/composers. And the music is GOOD. Now we are able to create unique soundtracks (just like a Hollywood movie!) that create a separate memory already tied to those well-known songs!

What’s the average timespan of the finished product?

Most studios edit some sort of Highlight Film or Sneak Peek anywhere from 2-6 minutes. From there, it varies widely based on the cinematographer’s style. They may offer a documentary (non-storytelling) edit that is 2-3 hours long or some offer a more cinematic way of editing that lends itself to a shorter experience that is anywhere from 7-40 minutes. Remember, don’t be shy and ask the studios you are considering to see fully delivered films and find what works best for you.

Garden Inspired Wedding Smack Dab in the Middle of Los Angeles

Vibiana is one of the most stunning venues around. Once a church, it now sets the stage for all the pretty that Los Angeles weddings have to offer. And this one? A garden beauty filled with blush pinks, gold sparkle and grand marble backdrops. Pore through the vault for more including florals by Lotus & Lily, planning by Modern LA Weddings and all the pretty images captured by onelove photography.

From the Bride… We always thought our wedding should be timeless by maintaining some traditions, while adding a few non-traditional twists. We wanted our ceremony to feel intimate, and that’s why we asked a close friend to marry us. We wanted it to feel personal, but not cheesy. It was also very important to both of us to write our own vows. Besides that, we didn’t want the wedding to feel so orchestrated or forced. We didn’t have games or anything. We just wanted our guests to come, party, and have a great time!

Our venue was a decommissioned church, so there were definitely a few architectural elements that were religious. My parents wanted to hide the altar, but we really didn’t want to mask any of building since it is so beautiful. Instead, we opted to drape a sheer fabric over the area. I feel like this enhanced the overall look of the altar and gave it a lightness. It wasn’t obvious that we were trying to disguise something. Instead of having a written sign or an enlarged photograph, we did 3′ tall floral initials at the entrance. It felt not as literal or expected, and it was an excuse to add more flowers!

I learned that you can’t control every single thing about your wedding, and it is extremely important to plan ahead and take your time! I would recommend getting a videographer. There are so many funny and unique memories (and dancing!) at every wedding, and these are captured so well in a video. I also definitely recommend hiring a wedding planner, even if it is not for full service. (We hired our planner for partial planning.) With our planner, I felt like I did not have to worry about anything on the day of and his team took care of everything for us. My favorite part of the wedding was the first look. I was definitely nervous and had barely gotten any sleep the night before, but seeing each other before the wedding really calmed our nerves. It was a very special and private moment that we got to share together. I also loved a surprise from one of the groomsmen. He had a cash “cannon” that shot out fake money for our grand entrance/bridal party introduction. I think all of our guests were truly stunned and entertained!

Blogger of ‘The Every Hostess’ Shares Her Engagement Session!

You know Kaitlin as the darling blogger behind The Every Hostess so it’ll come as no surprise that her engagement session was styled to a T. Along with Greenwood Events, she designed a picnic for two (make that three with their adorable pup, Winston!) set amongst the natural beauty of Montana. Jeremiah and Rachel photographed and if this gallery is an indication of their upcoming wedding, we’re officially waiting on pins and needles for the big day.

Kaitlin and Jeremy are planning a wonderful Montana wedding with Greenwood Events, and we were so lucky to spend an evening with them documenting this fun season of their lives!! Kaitlin and Jeremy live in Colorado but have always vacationed in Montana, so naturally, they want everyone they love to join them in this beautiful state to celebrate their wedding! Even their adorable dog, Winston joined us for a fun picnic in the park, and he definitely stole the show! Kaitlin is a blogger at The Every Hostess, so a styled picnic was absolutely perfect for these two. Darci from Greenwood Events created a stunning bouquet that so perfectly fit Kaitlin’s girly and delicate style. Even Jeremy was looking dapper in a navy suit! We so appreciate when our couples put extra thought and care into their engagement session and let their personalities show!

From the Bride-to-be… Mine and Jeremy’s love story began in Fort Collins, Colorado when we were attending college at Colorado State University. I had known him for a while before he asked me out, and I admit, I was always curious what kind of girl would date this goofy character. Little did I know… that goof was actually my soul mate. Fast forward to five and a half years later, on a holiday trip to London, England, while sitting in a cafe called Champagne and Fromage, Jeremy got down on one knee (after fake knocking something off the table…) and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Now, we are saying “I do” in the last best place on Earth: Whitefish, Montana.

Why Whitefish? Ever since I was born, I grew up being lucky enough to spend time in Whitefish every summer and winter. Whitefish is a place I call home. And by sharing this town with Jeremy throughout the last few years, it has grown into his home too. For our engagement session, we wanted to capture this special moment of being newly engaged with two local Whitefish photographers I have always admired, Jeremiah and Rachel Spray Photography. Following them on Instagram over the years, I have always loved Jeremiah and Rachel. Their photographic style completely captures the unique love and romance between a couple. Every photo they post, I want to jump right in and be in that exact scene! When Jeremy and I were first engaged I knew immediately that I wanted them to photograph us in this special time.

For our engagement shoot, I wanted to feel the most like us in our favorite place on earth, Whitefish. The goal was to capture a simple yet modern mountain feel, featuring beautiful florals and natural moments of love and laughter with my fiancé. Rachel and Jeremiah chose the location, a park just outside of Whitefish with the perfect mountain backdrop for a picnic and frolicking through the park. Greenwood Events created a simple yet feminine bouquet for me to hold that perfectly tied in the colors of Montana. I have to say, however, our puppy Winston stole the show! He knew exactly what was going on and was ready for his moments in front of the camera. For the picnic setting, we sat on a Pendleton Blanket with another gorgeous floral arrangement by Greenwood Events. This was the most “us” setting to our engagement session story, drinking wine and laughing.

From the couple… David and I have been married for 6 years and in that short amount of time we learned that life will throw many challenges your way, some big and some small. Our advice to younger couples is to face these challenges head on, as a team. Make the choice to love each other, even when the weight of the world starts to take its toll. Choose to forgive. Choose to forget. Choose to laugh. Choose to see the good. Choose to see the light. The light in your day to day, in the most unlikely of places, however dim it might be, however long it lasts and use it to see the beauty that is this amazing journey we call marriage. Cherish the small moments, the moments of light, because these moments are what make all the challenges worth it.

From Kibogo PhotographyLast summer I got lucky to team up with Simone, a very talented wedding planer from the south of Germany. We had some real fun planing this amazing inspirational wedding shoot at a villa in Italy. The prestigious Villa Ca Vendri is THE place to get married and enjoy the best wine and food. Ideal for indoor and outdoor ceremonies or dinners.

We chose a very natural color palette with a gentle touch of blue in the details such as table runner, ribbons for the bouquet, cake and bow tie. Alina, the hair and make up artist outdid herself with styling the bride and Simone with styling the whole theme. A world widespread team of excellent wedding vendors made this a dream come true inspiration for all the couples out there who are planing on getting married in Italy.

Romantic + Ethereal Wedding Shoot Inspired by One Gorgeous Gown

This dress. Just stop for a second and take a look (don’t worry, we’ll wait right here)… from the gorgeous hue to those layers of tulle, it’s pure perfection courtesy of Tara La Tour. Add in the florals from Holly Chapple (seriously stunning) and Elizabeth Fogarty’s pics and we’ve got a treat on our hands. See every lovely angle and romantic moment in our Vault right this way!

From Elizabeth FogartyThe entire inspiration, from the cake to the invitation came from Tara La Tour’s soft and whimsical gown. We wanted this editorial to have different textures and tones. The bouquet is what makes the shoot so special with its volume and shape. It’s an inspirational piece for brides to step away from the traditional white gown and round bouquet and to embrace new designs.

This Inspiration Will Have You Counting Down the Days to Spring

Spring might still be a few months away but this shoot is sure to tide you over until the sunshine has officially sprung. And what could be more Spring-like than a picnic wedding alfresco? Cynthia Martyn Fine Events + Living Fresh Flower Studio + Plume Calligraphy and Whitney Heard Photography crafted the prettiest floral-infused photo shoot that will totally to inspire you to go bright and bloom-filled.

From the Photographer… Overflowing with details, this shoot pairs fresh spring colors, the romance of lace and the timelessness of Landgon Hall. It has been brought to life to inspire you to do something a little different on your wedding day. Planner Cynthia Martyn helped this couple bring new ideas to their ceremony space with a picnic full of pillows, baguettes and wine. A fine art painting by Michelle Arms also brings creativity to the gathering. The day filled with laughter and cheer as the couple socialized over a stunning harvest wood table. With bridesmaids in mismatched dresses, the bride invited her closest friends to add a hint of spontaneity to her wedding images. The florals played a huge part in bringing this look together, adding color and freshness. With bouquets and arrangements full of peonies, ranunculus and greens, flower studio Living Fresh shows us the joy in bringing color into your dream wedding day. The cake, hand crafted by Toronto patisserie Nadia & Co, was inspired by bright florals and lush greenery. Delicate strokes from Plum Calligraphy adorn the menus and stationery suite, and provide a fitting invitation to this stunning collection of inspiration.
