Timeless Elegance With a Modern Twist at Montecito Country Club

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding colors featured a delicate palette of soft pastels, with prominent shades of blush pink, ivory, and light blue. Accents of gold added a touch of elegance and sophistication, seamlessly blending with the natural greenery of the floral arrangements.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The design and vibe of the wedding presents a classic, timeless elegance with a modern twist. Every detail, from the thoughtfully designed invitations to the beautiful floral arrangements, came together harmoniously for this celebration.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the bride, Rachel:
Joe and I met a random Thursday afternoon at our apartments pool- after a few hours of talking he asked me for my number and that Saturday we went on our first date!

The wedding was a perfect mix of romantic Santa Barbara meets ethereal garden. I loved that each space shined in there own but had a cohesive theme. I loved walking into the reception space and feeling like we were in a secret garden with the most beautiful hanging florals. I loved how Lindsay and Kathryn made a moment in every space from the escort wall to the martini bar no detail was ignored!

The wedding was an absolute dream come true! I was so happy and full of joy the entire day! I loved the florals- Amy did a fantastic job with creating stunning floral arrangements using over 3,000 roses and making each arrangement look like an art piece. The band was out of this world! I don’t think Joe or I left the dance floor all night! Except to refresh our drinks which many guests said were the best espresso martinis they have ever had!

If I could relive that day I would 10x over Mother Nature even blessed us with a hurricane hitting just 12 hours later- something that hasn’t happened in Santa Barbara in over 60 years! The Bliss team gave me the best gift as a bride- they handled everything and allowed me to not worry about a thing all day!

The Grandeur of Isola Del Garda Meets the Vibrant Hues of Summer

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Cream, peach, blush pink, fuchsia

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The historical grandeur of Isola del Garda meets the vibrant hues of summer florals for a modern and fresh design. We wanted to showcase regal luxury infused with a breath of pastel modernity. In such a grand setting you cannot have an understated design so we leaned into maximalism with an abundance of florals, bold patterns, and a vibrant colour palette. A palace wedding for the modern couple.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

In July 2022, Johann and I went on a three-week road trip with our Pomeranian from London to France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. Our first stop was Chateau Grand Barrail in Saint-Emilion – a beautiful castle that sat in the middle of the vineyards where one of our favourite wines is made. On our first night, Johann told me he had arranged a spot for us to have a pre-dinner drink overlooking the castle. When we arrived, there was a bottle of champagne waiting, and we took our glasses to the edge of the lake, where Johann bent down to one knee and asked me to marry him! A hidden photographer captured the whole thing, including our dog trying to chase the swans at the same time!! After calling our parents, we then headed out to the most romantic dinner overlooking the vineyards. It was perfect!

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]My dress was the Vivienne Westwood ‘Princess’ dress. I knew I wanted a unique dress that wasn’t all over Instagram, although apart from that I had no idea what I wanted. I spent the most fabulous day with my mum and sister going from shop to shop in London. Our last stop of the day was Browns, an iconic London bridal shop, where I found my dress and as soon as I tried it on, I knew it was the one. I paired it with the Manolo Blahnik ‘Lurum’ ivory heels and a beautiful Peter Langner veil. In keeping with the Princess theme, I wore a Maria Elena tiara and, as my ‘something borrowed’, my mum’s Tiffany chandelier earrings which she also wore on her wedding day. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

My bridesmaids wore pink tulle Marchesa Notte gowns with embroidered flower detailing. They matched the decor, flowers, and whole vibe perfectly, and they looked beautiful.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Our dress code was black tie, so I wanted my husband to stand out in white like me. He wore an ivory tuxedo from Sartoria Rossi, an Italian tailor on London’s iconic Savile Row. His groomsmen were dressed to the nines in Tom Ford tuxedos. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

The guests were served a sit-down dinner and served appetizers at cocktail hour. They served signature drinks at the bar and served champagne as guests arrived at their ceremony. In true Italian style, no guest will go hungry. The aperitif consisted of classic Italian dishes such as cold cuts, local cheeses, a plate of fresh seafood, and cocktails named after the bride and groom. For dinner, local cuisine was highlighted through seafood and pasta and to finish off, the couple provided late-night pizza.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

When the location is so idyllic by itself, it is essential to choose designs that will enhance the beauty and be in balance with the venue’s style. We wanted to create a classy upscale design that would reflect the glory of the event, and at the same time be modern and elegant. The ceremony took place at the Loggia, where the amazing view is completed by high columns, which we enhanced with an array of soft pink, cream, and fuchsia flowers. The alluring ashy and hot pink colour played a key role in the reception area’s design compiling the floral arrangements with breathtaking views. The beautiful classy compositions consist of a wide selection of flowers of cream, pink, and peachy tones: dahlias, various kinds of roses, peonies, astilba, sweet pea, and nerine. The crystal vases are subtle but become an elegant touch to the general look of the compositions.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Stunning wedding cake was made by local bakery and it had lovely fresh flowers. It was all white and had that beautiful classic look while still being so incredible unique and fitting right in with their garden vibe.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Evening Dress
Originally my mum and I were in Jenny Peckham on Mount Street with the intention of finding her mother-of-the-bride dress, however, upon seeing their bridal collection, I couldn’t say no to their mini white sparkly cocktail number! It was the perfect dress to dance the night away in! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Welcome Dinner Outfit We hosted a welcome dinner the night before the main event which was at a restaurant right on the lake overlooking the island where we would all head to the next day for our wedding. I knew I wanted something ‘extra’ and to keep in line with the princess theme, so I was so pleased when I saw Self Portrait’s bridal collection. I wore a short strapless white dress with a matching cape – it was divine! I paired it with a white sparkly Jennifer Behr headband and a pair of silver Gina shoes kindly gifted to me by my grandmother.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Invitations
Invitations were super important to me as I believe it truly sets the tone for the whole wedding. As soon as I saw Momental’s instagram, I knew they were the ones who could deliver my vision! They made the cutest wedding crest with our initials and, most importantly, included our little Pom, Louis. Our invitations were hand painted and featured the backdrop of our wedding venue on them. Attention to detail is so important and everything from our envelopes to save the dates, wax stamp, ribbons and crest were perfect.

Chris proposed to Greg (April 5th, 2022) at Castello Di Verrazzano in Chianti, Tuscany. We really grew an appreciation for wine throughout the pandemic pretending to be sommeliers ordering varieties of wines, which inspired us to book our dream trip to Italy where Chris planned to propose. While in Florence we had a day-long private wine tour throughout Chianti. Chris planned for the first vineyard on the itinerary (Castello di Verrazzano) to have access to their private courtyard after the tasting. Chris set up his drone to capture the moment and then proposed.

We loved that Larz Anderson House reminisced of Florentine Villa architecture and style. It was beautifully ornate and the outdoor pool and garden perfectly captured the vibe we wanted for outdoor dining. We also really enjoyed the overall flow of the day from starting in the ballroom for the ceremony, to upstairs in Olmsted Gallery hallways for cocktail hour, followed by dinner in the garden, and then back to the ballroom for the reception and party. We split activities for planning the wedding according to our interests. Chris handled the majority of the logistics like the florals, food, and lighting, while Greg worked his touch on the musical ambiance, subtle décor, and color coordination. One of our favorite additions was the champagne wall with our guests’ table numbers.

A Stunning Spring Day at Cedar Lakes Estate Complete With Pops of Yellow and Organic Textures

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]The team at Ness McGovern Events and Design has been looking for an opportunity to create an entire wedding around the color yellow and that unique joy the color often brings in early spring. The color symbolizes hope and new beginnings, which some might say weddings also represent. The overall inspiration for this event and design started with linen from Lola Valentina that featured tiny yellow butterflies amongst vines and flowers. In addition, the recent design trend of using small table lamps pulled the entire design direction to a more elevated and layered direction, ultimately finished with butterfly lace charges from The Tabletop Company.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Yellow, Green, Peach[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]As a group, the creative partners involved on this project wanted a venue that would let the design colors shine, but also add a unique twist. Cedar Lakes Estate is the perfect venue to embrace the luxurious side of being in nature on your wedding day. It has a gorgeous hilltop, stunning event spaces, relaxing accommodations and many amenities.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Selecting wedding day attire can be challenging for some. Our team selected two wedding dress looks, one a more traditional ballgown with a drop waist from Vera Wang for the ceremony. And the second, a modern lace masterpiece from Oscar de la Renta. The beauty of having multiple looks for your wedding day is that you can lean into different aesthetics, comfort levels and formalities. This can also be executed through hair and makeup, you’ll notice we had two different hair styles and a slight shift in makeup from one look to the next.[/field]

[board_carousel title=”Fashion”]

[/board_carousel]
[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The floral selections were driven by locally sourced blooms, allowing peak seasonality to shine in the organic, airy design. New-Jersey-grown lilac, dogwood, and butterfly ranunculus anchored the butter-yellow ceremony, meant to feel like a sunlit meadow path popping against the hilltop’s lush green tree line.

Table florals embraced a unique color story that balanced whimsy with sophistication. Arrangements spilled with delicate flowers such as Daybreak’s own tulips, along with hyacinth, sweet pea and muscari. The entire design was accomplished using sustainable methods, without the use of flower foam. [/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]The reception tables. The detailed pattern of the Lola Valentina linen was so intricate, you discover more the longer you look at it. The lace-rimmed butterfly charges add a touch of sentimentality. The flowers play perfectly with all the colors. The gold lamps lift the eye from the visual weight of the striped linen and top off the whole look.[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]The key to any ceremony or reception design is to play with visual weight. The design needs to be visually interesting but also naturally pull one’s eye throughout. For the ceremony, the inherent rolling shape of the serpentine-like aisle immediately brings you in and centers you on a airy, almost floating arch way, that looks like it could be leading into the sky. The tables bring you in with all the pattern play that all speaks to eachother. There is a rule when it comes to design, and that is that each element should speak to another element in some way. There should never be an element on its own that is not repeated or mirrored elsewhere.[/field]

The Formula for the Perfect Beach Wedding in Greece

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]Inspiration Behind the Shoot

George Liopetas shares:
During my stay in New York and Tokyo last February, a unique idea took shape in my mind. I frequently encountered stunning beach photoshoots in magazines and online, but I realized that I had never seen a beach session from my own hometown go viral. Having organized successful workshops in Tuscany, Como, and Athens, I thought, “Why shouldn’t I organize a workshop in my hometown of Patras and the Western Greece region?”

I am a guy who loves summer. Summer is on my mind all the time. I love the colors of summer and the colors of Greece – the iconic white and blue. Most of all, I love the Greek water, the sandy beaches, and the Greek meaning of life. Inspired by these passions, I wanted to organize something that combined a wedding editorial with all the beauty mentioned above. I envisioned a wedding literally by the beach, with tables set right on the sea, creating a seamless blend of nature and celebration.

Western Greece is a region brimming with breathtaking beaches and natural beauty. Inspired by this, we set out to find the most picturesque beach in Western Greece, and that’s where we decided to host our main wedding editorial. This endeavor not only showcased the unparalleled beauty of Western Greece but also allowed us to bring a fresh and local perspective to beach wedding editorials. The result was a captivating blend of local charm and global inspiration.'[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Regarding the wedding colors, we wanted something simple. We are in a neutral environment like a sandy beach. The setup is going to get a little crazy – if you think we are going to use our tables INTO the seascape. So we decided to blend neutral tones and some light greenery to make some setups GET OUT of the sand! For instance our ceremony set up.[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Location: The Stunning Beaches of Western Greece

To the south, along the Kyparissiakos Gulf, stretches over 45 kilometers of exotic beach known as Kakovatos. This beautiful expanse begins at Epitalio village and extends to Kalo Nero village, encompassing a unique ecosystem that includes the Caiaphas lake, the pine forest of Strofilia, and the historic Lapitha mountain.

In previous years, Kakovatos Beach, along with Kato Samiko, Zacharo village, and Giannitsochori village, was famous for its waves and the surfers who flocked there. These beaches were once vibrant with beach parties and loud music. Today, Kakovatos has transformed into a tranquil haven, with just one remaining canteen located next to “Mouries,” the oldest tavern in the area. This spot now offers coffee and refreshments accompanied by soft music.

Nikos Korovesis, the vice regional governor of Ilia, embodies this change. “You will come to our area for our marvelous beach, fresh fish, and good homemade food with fresh local ingredients and a relaxing family vacation,” he explains. The beach offers free umbrellas and loungers to customers, and free camping is available to the left and right of the beach.

The village caters to various tastes: from Greek music clubs to cafes and bars playing jazz-lounge music, there’s something for everyone to enjoy while relaxing with a drink.

Before leaving the coast of Ilia, don’t miss the opportunity to visit Katakolon village. Though lacking in tourist facilities, it boasts a picturesque harbor, a beautiful blue-water beach perfect for swimming, and excellent fish restaurants.

From George Liopetas: “If it wasn’t for the Vice Governor of Ilia, Mr. Nikos Korovesis, this wedding editorial would not have been possible. I would like to publicly thank him for his tremendous contribution to the production of this project.”[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Giorgos Nikolakopoulos’s dedication to detail and his ability to capture the essence of coastal Greece through floral design elevated our editorial to new heights. His creation was more than decor; it was a testament to the harmony between natural elements and artistic vision, embodying the very spirit of our ‘Summer Dream by the Beach'[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]One of the standout features of our editorial was the meticulously crafted tabletop designed by Giorgos Nikolakopoulos, the visionary head florist of Natural Flower Workshop. His creation was nothing short of magical—a stunning sand-styled masterpiece that transported our guests to the very essence of a beachside celebration.

As you gaze upon the tabletop, you’re immediately captivated by its intricate details and lifelike textures. Each element meticulously placed, evoking the natural beauty of sandy shores bathed in sunlight. Giorgos’s artistry brought forth a sense of serene coastal elegance, seamlessly blending with the azure backdrop of the Kyparissiakos Gulf.

Every grain of sand delicately positioned, every shell and driftwood accent thoughtfully chosen—it all contributed to an ambiance that whispered of sun-drenched days and salty sea breezes. The tabletop became a focal point, not just for its visual appeal, but for the emotive connection it forged with our seaside setting.[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”][/field]
[field title=”DIY Moments”]As the organizer of this workshop, DIY moments were woven into every aspect of our editorial, reflecting both the challenges and the personal touches that made this project truly special. From scouting the perfect location to handling logistics and calling in favors from dear friends, the journey was a labor of love and dedication, fueled by passion for perfection.

Two memorable anecdotes come to mind:

Firstly, the rustic wooden benches used for the wedding ceremony were sourced from La Bodegueta beer house, a beloved establishment in Patras, Greece. My connection with this place runs deep—from being a loyal patron to eventually working as a bartender there for over five years. Despite the years that have passed, our bond remains strong, and when they offered their support, I gladly accepted their gesture. The benches not only added charm but also carried a sentimental thread that resonated throughout our seaside celebration.

Secondly, our shoot location at Kakovatos beach, nearly two hours from Patras city center, posed logistical challenges, especially for our makeup artist, Vasiliki Zorba, and hair expert, Koralia. With their base in Patras, ensuring our models arrived pristine and styled required meticulous planning. This responsibility fell to Nikolia Kamperou, my cherished girlfriend—a seasoned professional in both fashion and fine jewelry. Nikolia devoted herself to Vasileia, our bride model, providing unwavering support and impeccable styling throughout the shoot.

Another charming DIY touch that added flair to our photoshoot was the vintage turquoise Vespa that stole the show. This iconic scooter belongs to my good friend and talented car mechanic, Nick Kosmas. Our friendship goes way back, and it was in 2022 that Nick entrusted me to photograph his wedding—a role I took on with immense pride, capturing timeless memories for him and his bride.

During their pre-wedding session, Nick brought out a few gems from his impressive collection, including a classic Volkswagen T2 and the stunning vintage turquoise Vespa that immediately captured my heart. Little did I know that a few years down the line, I would find myself asking Nick if I could borrow that very Vespa for our editorial shoot.

Nick’s generosity and our shared passion for craftsmanship and aesthetics turned this Vespa into more than just a prop—it became a symbol of friendship and shared memories. Its vibrant color and timeless design perfectly complemented our seaside theme, adding an authentic touch of vintage elegance to the photographs.

This Vespa, with its storied history and personal connection, epitomizes the spirit of DIY collaboration and the meaningful relationships that enrich every project I undertake. It’s moments like these that make each editorial not just a showcase of artistry, but a celebration of friendship and shared passions.

These stories embody the spirit of collaboration and dedication that defined our workshop. Each DIY moment was a testament to the creativity and resilience of our team, turning challenges into opportunities to create something truly extraordinary.[/field]

The ceremony takes place under a canopy of vines and twinkling lights, reminiscent of a night under the Athenian stars. Tables are set with earthenware and decorated with laurel wreaths, while the feast includes sumptuous Greek delicacies and fine wine.

If this is your dream wedding, you’re in the right place. There is nothing quite like a wedding weekend celebration in the beautiful Okanagan. Immerse yourself and your guests in a luxurious European experience without ever leaving Canada.

Every Mountain Bride Needs to See This Soaring Ceremony in Beautiful Vail, Co

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Natalie had a vision for her day to be an elegant, modern affair in the mountains. Focusing on the 12,000-foot mountains that surround Camp Hale, Natalie, and Blake wanted to highlight the beauty but not overtake it. Natalie wanted to focus on touches of the color blue throughout her day, with pops of blue in her centerpieces, detailed blue table linens from BBJ La Tavola, and cobalt blue stemmed wine glasses. Cascading greenery hung from the ceiling and the guests passed around a custom blue Kemo Sabe hat on the dance floor all night long. Every detail of this day was meticulously crafted, reflecting the uniqueness of this couple.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Blake proposed to Natalie on a snowy November day In Vail, Colorado, as the two gazed in wonder at the beautiful mountains surrounding them. Blake’s heart was pounding as he knelt down in front of his best friend, who stood where the two had shared life-long family memories seasons ago. It was then that Blake finally gathered the courage to speak, express his everlasting love for Natalie, and ask for her hand in marriage. Natalie was at first speechless, frozen in state of happiness, with a smile, a nod, and. “Yes” finally able to break through. To her surprise, the lone bystander nearby began taking photos as Blake and Natalie embraced and let their combined excitement be known to each other. Returning home from their walk and photo shoot, Natalie was greeted with cheers by Blake’s family and to her surprise, her family, who Blake had requested join them for the momentous occasion. The soon-to-be-joined families spent the next two days reveling in the love of the happy couple, sharing their first Thanksgiving together in a place that now meant more to all of them than it did before. 9 months later, Natalie and Blake were married in Vail, choosing to return to share their love of each other and the mountains with all of their family and friends.

All of Natalie’s wedding looks were created by her close friend, Mara. Mara owns London-based bridal brand Mara Marie Bridal. Natalie and Mara previously worked together at a bridal boutique in Minneapolis. They would spend their afternoons playing dress up and dreaming of their ideal wedding gowns. Natalie originally envisioned herself wearing a wedding gown with touches of blue and organza fabric. When looking for fabrics with Mara she fell in love with a 3D lace that had subtle touches of sparkle. It was at that moment that Natalie decided to have her rehearsal dinner dress be her touch of blue and her wedding gown would be all ivory. She loved how the lace was romantic yet still modern. The lace was hand-sewn onto nude tulle to allow the detail of each piece to shine. Mara hand-sewed pieces of lace trailing down her satin-faced organza skirt so with every movement one could see another tendril of lace cascading down. Natalie opted for a raw-edge cathedral veil with a blusher that just melted into the train of her gown. In terms of her accessories, she kept it simple yet sophisticated. She wore her mom’s diamond tennis bracelet as her something borrowed and worked with local Minneapolis Jeweller, Filigree Jewelers to create the most stunning triple drop diamond earrings. Filigree was the designer of Natalie’s engagement ring and wedding bands for her and Blake. For her bridal shoes, she chose the suede Josie Block Heels from Emmy London. She fell in love with the option to add on shoe clip-ons. For the rehearsal dinner, she chose the dramatic satin bow clips while for her wedding day, she chose a yellow gold and crystal clip to match her wedding day jewelry.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Natalie fell in love with bridesmaid designer, Jenny Yoo from Bella Bridesmaids which allowed all the bridesmaids to choose which style they loved in the champagne
Lauren, the Maid of Honour opted for a gorgeous one shoulder champagne satin gown while the remainder of the party chose long chiffon gowns. [/field]

They wanted to ensure that they had great cocktails for their wedding guests. Guests had the choice of choosing from one of Natalie and Blake’s favorite cocktails – Gin & Tonic, Margarita, Old Fashion made with a local Colorado bourbon, or an Aperol Spritz. The bartenders topped off these drinks with personalized N|B ice cubes by a local vendor – Fear No Ice![/field]

Natalie and Blake selected a sophisticated color palette of white, enhanced with subtle touches of blue florals that beautifully captured the essence of Colorado. Their arrangements featured locally grown Dahlias, timeless white Roses, Ranunculus, Canterbury Bells, and Nigella, all coming together to create a timeless, classic look.

The ceremony was set on the floating island at Camp Hale. While waiting for the bridal party to walk down the aisle, the guests could awe at the beauty of the 12,000-foot mountain-filled valley. The views are truly breathtaking and unique to many other wedding venues in the area. The rugged landscape of Camp Hale – Continental Divide serves as a testament to a pivotal moment in America’s military history, as these peaks and valleys forged the elite soldiers of the famed 10th Mountain Division — the Army’s first and only mountain infantry division. Because of this, Camp Hale is also recognized as a National Monument. When they thought about their ceremony there was no one better to marry them than Natalie’s Brother-in-law, Joe. Joe has been a part of the bride’s family for almost 20 years and has been like a brother to Natalie and now Blake. He reflected on their love for family, deep compassion, and loyalty to one another as they moved through stages in their relationship. As their act of unity – Natalie and Blake chose the tradition of Celtic handfasting. Joe read the meaning of the tradition and what it meant to Natalie and Blake as they were to become husband and wife.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

In Vail, the store Kemo Sabe is an institution. With Blake’s family history tied to Vail, his family has been going for years and making memories with the staff that works there. It was no surprise that Blake would share this Vail right of passage with Natalie when he first brought her to Vail. Natalie and Blake knew that they would want to have Kemo Sabe hats as a memento for their special day. At Kemo Sabe, they specialize in personalization. On the night of the rehearsal, Natalie got her new initials stamped into her ivory hat. They also purchased a slate blue hat with the coordinates of the ceremony location at Camp Hale stamped into the hat for guests to wear during the night and take photographs with, the ultimate keepsake.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

At the beginning of the summer of 2022, Tommy purchased an engagement ring for Anna with plans to propose as soon as possible. Those plans had to be postponed due to some unexpected events in their lives but Tommy held onto her ring with hopes of finding the perfect moment. When they purchased their first home together he knew it was the right time. As Anna and Tommy were moving into their home they found out some friends would be visiting, Anna made a joking remark that it would be a fun time to propose. Little did she know this was already in the works! They moved into their home on a Friday and Anna refused to go to sleep until every box was unpacked. Tommy begged her to go to sleep so that she would not be tired for the proposal that was planned for the next day. After a few hours of sleep, they prepared for their friends to arrive and for an Alabama game day in their new home. With the help of some friends who left during halftime to set it up the proposal site was ready adorned with candles and flowers. Tommy set up a rouse that he was showing his friends around Jacksonville, they pulled up to the spot that unbeknownst to Anna she picked out the spot on their many walks with their dogs, mentioning it would be a “good spot for a proposal”. Their friends had covered the stairs with flower petals, roses, and candles. In his excitement, Tommy completely forgot what he wanted to say but he proposed as the sunset and Anna answered with a resounding, “YES!” They celebrated with champagne and the best Mac N Cheese on earth from Silkies in Springfield. In hindsight, Tommy realized that he both met Anna and asked her to marry him right after an Alabama win.

5 Ways To Avoid Stress on Your Wedding Morning

I don’t think I’ve met one couple who didn’t encounter at least one stressful situation during their wedding planning process, or their wedding day for that matter! Murphy’s law—you’ll most likely have at least one snafu. But if you’ve got a great attitude and do your best to prepare, you’ll have an incredible day regardless. But let’s talk wedding morning… that is absolutely NOT a time to be stressing! Here are five easy ways to avoid stress and start your Big Day off right.

Get Ready Solo

While getting ready with your bridesmaids can be SO much fun—it can also be stressful if you’ve got a big group. From unwanted advice (there’s always that one person) to questions being asked to hair and makeup… things can get a little crazy. I personally chose to begin getting ready by myself, followed by spending an hour and half with my sister (who was my matron of honor) and then asked the rest of my girls to join us about an hour before the wedding for the final touches and a glass of bubbly. It was such a pleasant way to spend those getting ready moments.

Throw Traditions Out the Door

We all know of the superstition that it’s bad luck to see your fiancé the day of the wedding—but, first looks have sort of crushed that! Then, there’s the tradition where couples stay in separate rooms the night before the wedding. But does that really make sense if you already cohabitate (and have already done the deed)? Keep stress levels low by doing things how you usually do them. If sleeping in the same room makes you at ease, throw that old tradition out the door and hop into bed with your babe!

Practice Your Vows

Public speaking is a big stressor for many people—so it makes complete sense that most are nervous about their vows! Whether you’re doing custom vows or not, it’s always a good idea to do a run through the morning of and helps release a bit of the pressure.

Delegate Everything Day-Of

The last thing you want to deal with on your wedding morning is a slew of questions… from vendors, wedding guests, your bridal party. Delegate someone in your bridal party, or a close family member or friend you trust who can be that go-to person for final details. Putting your trust in that person allows you to full soak in every moment of your well-deserved Big Day! It also helps to create a day-of timeline (something an event planner can help with, too) and hand it out to all vendors involved and any other people you delegate tasks to.

Have a Back Up Plan

One of the biggest things couples worry about when planning their wedding: the weather. Whether you’re having an indoor or outdoor ceremony, rain can put a huge damper on things. Make sure to have a solid back up plan, so you won’t be scrambling the day of to figure out logistics. Most venues will help you come up with a game plan, too. Having that backup option will allow you to let go and feel confident that rain or shine, you and your loved ones will have an incredible day.

An “Old Hollywood” Inspired Wedding at Cescaphe in Philadelphia

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blush, champagne, black and white[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vision for this wedding was timeless and elegant, but FUN!!! They love a classic look, but they love to party. So the goal was for portraits to feel classic, and elegant, but bring the party when it came time for the reception! Sarah wanted the old hollywood, black & white, “what you think of a wedding” vibe. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Sarah & Max met while attending West Chester University through a mutual friend. They quickly became friends, but did not become romantic until way later– in fact after they already graduated from school. They just celebrated their 5 year dating anniversary on June 7th.

Max proposed on February 25th, 2023. The plan for max was to take Sarah on a “belated” valentine’s day date in downtown West Chester. He then told her she needed to be dressed up for a surprise he had following dinner. They were on their way to Sedona Tap House for lunch, and as they were walking Max thought it would be great to stop in an area with a lot of fountains for a pre-date photo. While they were getting ready to take a photo, Sarah turned around to check on Max and that is when she saw him down on one knee.

West Chester was where they first met, where their life dreams were realized, and where a lot of important moments in their relationship happened so Sarah could not have asked for a better place to start her forever with Max! It was also snowing that day, which added to the beauty of the moment.

After the engagement, Max planned a surprise party at a bar called Barnaby’s (also significant to their college fun), where all of her friends and family were waiting to celebrate the big moment with them! [/field]

It had a classic look that she loved, but also had a unique shape of the neck line that added an edge, making it more modern and fun. It was the complete embodiment of Sarah![/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Pink is Sarah’s favorite color, so she knew she had to have that color incorporated in her day! She felt it was light, romantic, and added to the classic-ness of her day. It was also satin so it was upscale but still matched the vibe![/field]

Cocktail hour at Cescaphe is never to be outdone. With a combination of passed hors d’oeuvres, and stations there is anything you can think of from a grill with burgers, a seafood extravaganza, to pastas, an Asian station, the list goes on and on. For dinner, guests had the option between a filet mignon, Crab tower (crab cakes), or Chicken Milanese. Dessert consisted of chocolate fondue with multiple dipping options, pastries, towers of different dessert options, and so much more!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals were provided by Riehs flowers, which Sarah opted for white flowers with minimal greenery to keep things clean and traditional. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The cake was for both the bride and groom– It was all beauty and elegance in the front with a total party in the back. The front of the cake was a traditional white with flower accents. The back of the cake was for Max, showcasing the teams of Philadelphia (Eagles, Flyers, Sixers, and Phillies)! The cake flavors were between vanilla & Chocolate chip with a buttecream frosting[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The ceremony was a traditional catholic ceremony at Sarah’s home parish. Her dad walked her down the aisle, and she blew a sweet kiss to her momma at the end before taking Max’s hands. Readings were from her godmother, max’s under, and a close family friend. The ring bearer was Max’s nehphew/godson, and the flower girl was Sarah’s goddaughter!!

The vows were traditional, but prior to the ceremony both Sarah & Max exchanged handwritten letters with personalized vows and promises! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]One thing that was super special was a song dedicated to Sarah by her dad! The song was the underdog by Aaron Watson. It was a beautiful moment that had the crowd on their feet, and Sarah really immersed in the moment with her dad, and at times singing along!![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Sarah & Max forewent a traditional guestbook and opted for a customized Eagles Jersey that each guest signed [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]A lot of her details were born from family love–

Her mom made her veil, as she is very crafty and wanted to do this for her daughter!!
She wore her mom’s pearl earrings that her mom also wore on her very own wedding day. Her mom also made all of the decor (Kathy’s Krafts and More)[/field]

The main palette was light blue, deep green, and white

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The couple really wanted their wedding to be personal. They had a ton of personal details including earrings that her family friend designed. The bride loves butterflies and had a butterfly theme in some areas of the wedding including their escort card display. The bride also had three dresses: ceremony, reception, and after-party dresses which were gorgeous and fun. We shot the wedding in a way where there was a lot of reflection, they wanted really artistic images. The most important thing on their day was to be with their best friends and family. During the after party, and dancing away with family and friends, the groom even got on stage to sing with the band.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

They got engaged on the east side of the Cumberland River in Nashville near the Nissan stadium in April 2022. Pretty epic view of the city. After the groom proposed, he surprised the bride with her parents who he flew in, as well as his mother and they had an amazing dinner and hit the town. The bride’s parents live down in Nashville and have always loved visiting. They have some of the best restaurants, bars, and live music in the world!

Their florals and decor were very elegant. The chuppah was covered in white and baby blue flowers, with aisle pieces that were luscious and beautiful. The couple sat at a sweetheart table that had a large floral piece placed on the ground in front of the sweetheart table.

A Private Estate Wedding Inspired by the Couple’s Favorite Travel Destinations

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]It was really important to me not to have “wedding colors”. I love color and different saturations of color, so I wanted to capture colors through the drinks (Aperol spritz) and the flowers. Which looked like a farmers’ market, all color everywhere. Same with the bridesmaids’ dresses. I wanted a mix of different colors, textures, patterns and saturation.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We wanted the wedding to feel very European, but more of a mix illustrating all the traveling we have done together. Our first trip together was to London, we walked to Regency Park and I admired the rose gardens, so I wanted the flowers to feel like an English Garden. And for the drinks, we spent time in the Amalfi Coast and sipped on Aperol Spritz all day long. Another trip we took was to Provence in France, we spent many dinners outside under trees surrounded by olive trees and flowers. We wanted to recreate it all!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]We love taking weekend trips upstate to get ourselves out of the city. One town in particular we love is Hudson, NY. On our first time in the adorable cabin we rented, we got ready for dinner and while I was calling us a car, Lach stood behind, dropped to a knee and said “you may want to hold on that, I think we have some other calls to make”. I cried instantly and don’t remember much past that, I was in shock. We went to the most beautiful dinner at The Marker and drank champagne and danced the night away.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids wore A mix of V.Chapman, Staud and Love Shack Fancy to mirror the colorful ethereal vibe of the day. The bride didn’t want the girls to feel like they were in “bridesmaids” dresses, she “wanted them to feel fabulous”.

Fresh From the Kitchen took their vision and made it more than they could have imagined.
Fresh from the kitchen had a Oyster Raw Bar at cocktail hour to complement the stunning Aperol Spritz table. The Aperol spritz table was a focal point of the cocktail hour and was used to showcase their love of the Drink and travels to Italy.
The Signature cocktails were from their current home and love of New York, The East and West village.
Thie plated dinner consisted of
Rosemary and Garlic Lamb with fingerling potatoes, Parmesan crusted halibut with Wild Mushroom Risotto, and Butternut Squash Ravioli.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]From Haleigh with Flora by Haleigh. As soon as I saw a picture of Kelly in her dress, I knew exactly what she was envisioning for their wedding. It was soft, romantic, classic- and completely flirty. I wanted to play into these themes while designing floral and the color palette. Kelly knew exactly what she wanted. She loved a growing purple aisle paired with a soft pink Altar. She wanted olive branches overflowing from the urns. We wanted the tables to feel like a cohesive afterthought, almost like we had gathered all the floral in a field just before dinner. The family’s estate and their love for the south of France were both truly an inspiration![/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The bride and groom chose a white wedding cake adorned with dried flowers to match the ceremony flowers. They wedding party took an individual photo of each of them before the ceremony, before they saw each other, and the design team placed it on the cake for them to see when they cut the cake. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Her brother Stephen was the officiant.
The Bride walked down the aisle to Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams. Here is why she chose that song.
We took our first trip together upstate to the Catskills, renting a cute cabin in the woods, it felt like something Taylor Swift would like a love baland to. This was the first trip we said “I love you” I remember crying because I hadn’t said those words to someone that I cared about as much as I cared about him before. Driving around in the woods, we listened Taylor Swift and sang along to “Wildest Dreams” looking around at the leaves and him by my side, I thought “I want to walk down the aisle to this song” because this moment was perfect. On the day of our wedding the moment the string quartet hit the notes of the song, my heart fluttered. As I walked down the aisle, my father squeezed my hand and told me not to cry, I was so happy seeing Lach at the end of the aisle waiting for me. Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine that this love would be mine.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The wedding was held at the recently renovated home of the Bride’s parents. Bill and Susan Roach.

On April 13th, 2024, Kelley Roach and Lachlan Travers married each other at a French-inspired home in Paradise Valley, AZ. The bride was fortunate to have her wedding in a home that holds a special story. Purchased by her parents and completely renovated/decorated by her mother, Susan, the estate was meticulously prepared for the wedding. From the interior design to the landscaping, Susan ensured every detail was perfect. Enter Kelley, a talented interior designer from New York, who took the already beautiful home and transformed it into a vision of her wildest dreams. The wedding featured a curved aisle adorned with vibrant florals and a European-inspired table set for 110 guests, creating a scene straight out of a French countryside fairy tale.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Instead of the traditional champagne welcome or water table, the guests were greeted by a display of ice-cold Topo Chicos. Another favorite of the couple. The bride’s nephews greeted the guests, opened the bottles for them and then ushered them to the ceremony site. [/field]

Bride Wears Mother’s 1989 Dress to Her Romantic Duke Mansion Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Sage, Peach, Yellow, Blush, Light Blue[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We were inspired by the classic style of the Duke Mansion and its gardens. A colorful, bright, and cheery spring inspired our color pallet. Rather than pinpointing specific inspiration photos or weddings, we placed trust in our vendors to bring to life a day completely unique to us. We believe that the people make the place (or, in this case, the event) and that when the day finally arrives, the perfect theme and style will be one created by the presence of our loved ones and influenced by the energy and joy they bring.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We met at Clemson during our freshmen year orientation—randomly assigned to the same small group for welcome week activities. Although we didn’t hit it off right away, thankfully mutual friends later brought our social circles together. We started hanging out in group settings throughout freshman year and it didn’t take long for us to become great friends and eventually a couple. After we graduated from Clemson and settled in our home city, Charlotte, Ethan proposed at his family’s lake house where we spent a lot of special time growing our relationship during the pandemic when campus was closed. Mary is notoriously hard to surprise, but not only did Ethan pull of the surprise proposal, he made it even sweeter by having all of their friends in on a surprise after party![/field]

Ocean Air Bliss and Coastal Design at Watchmere in Martha’s Vineyard

This Tomato-Inspired Affair at Chez Balliet Is All the Rehearsal Dinner Inspo You’ll Need

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

As a previous event designer / planner in my former life when I first started my business back in 2010/11, I have so much gratitude in my heart for the planning and event design side of weddings. It take so much heart, hard work, patience and a million things in between.

When I switched my focus entirely to floristry about years into my career, there were so many incredible connections and planners who came alongside me in support of my direction and linked me up with some incredible clients/weddings along the way :) Now, as I largely work directly with planners for the majority of the events I get to flower, I wanted to throw a special dinner event as a thank you to so many of the incredible event designers and planners I’m honored enough to work with on a regular basis.

I’m also Italian :) And a major summer / tomato / lover of the color red. Having eloped in Puglia a year prior to this dinner, I really wanted to showcase some of the inspiration I gathered there and the entire inspiration for this event came from that area + these insanely gorgeous plates that The Ark had in their inventory! I built the rest of the rental and tabletop choices around them, as well as the flower gameplan and we ended up with a tomato and chartreuse inspired tablescape full of dynamic shape and color.

I incorporated strung tomatoes throughout, currant tomato vines, green curly garlic stems, chartreuse amaranthus, rusty red kangaroo paw, and bright red gloriosa lilies for the flowers

The specialty cocktail were fresh, summer and Italian-inspired again of course with Spritzes and Italian wines (except for the Mystic Rabbit Margarita from MIHO’s drink program which is just a favorite of mine / had to have it :))

The plates from the Ark are hand thrown ceramics made in the Puglia region of Italy. Truly Italian Summer Inspiration and warmth were at the heart of every design choice.

I got to partner with my sweet friend Lindsey from MIHO on the planning aspect and she also helped majorly to bring some of my ideas to life! Heather + Troy from Amorology / Chez Balliet were kind enough to host all of us. The Ark provided gorgeous rentals for the tabletop as well as the tables and seating, and our incredible pals at Folklore Rentals / Catalog Atelier helped with the beautiful pergolas, linens and barware. I still dream about / have saved the gorgeous menus from Emily J. Snyder and of course, Kelly Brown captured everything with her perfect eye for details and color.

The best part of all of this was getting to partner with so many vendors that I absolutely adore in order to honor / thank so many talented planner friends whom I also adore. It was a fun summer evening of really amazing food, drinks and backyard-italian inspired joy. And I hope all of the gratitude for all of these wonderful humans was felt down to the very core <3

An Intimate Garden Party Complete With a Soft Pastel Palette at Macarthur Place Hotel and Spa

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding colors were Soft Summer Tones – pale lavender, french blue, blush, & peach![/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

When we first started planning with Kiki & John they were clear about wanting to create a romantic and inviting intimate garden party with a focus on a soft pastel color palette. Their venue, Macarthur Place, was the perfect location for that intimate party, and from there we collaborated with their floral team, Freckled Floral, to create a modern take on a pastel palette. We focused on color blocking, we repurposed ceremony florals to dinner, and we added texture to the dinner table design.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]John had planned with the resort staff and photographers for a beach proposal that evening. John casually said he had passed through the lobby and asked the resort about their photography sessions and told me it was complimentary with our stay. So I thought we might as well take a few photos before our dinner to take a few vacation photos back with us. We began the shoot on the resort property in some of the gardens and made our way to the beach. The photographer told me she would like to take some solo shots of me walking down the beach looking off into the ocean. She instructed me to walk away and on the count of three she would get a candid look back shot, however when I turned around there was John, down on one knee! He said the sweetest speech and asked “will you marry me” to which I said “yes”! It was the sweetest proposal! We then finished our dinner date at the Alaia restaurant on the resort and celebrated! When we returned home to Houston, Texas a few days later John set up a surprise engagement party with my closest friends and family! [/field]

How to Create an Unconventional Wedding Look

Not every bride is a white dress, church ceremony, ballroom reception kind of bride. Nope. In fact, these days, most aren’t. Having planned more then 800 weddings, Floral & Event Designer Nancy Liu Chin knows a thing or two about what’s trending and what’s not. And the Unconventional Couple? They are officially a thing. So – together with crazy talented planner and designer, Christina Nichols of Parker Nichols Events – the pair is breaking down the components needed to truly design an aesthetically gorgeous though unconventional affair – from color selection to gown choice, any everything in between. Renowned Photographer Kevin Chin (who also happens to be Nancy’s hubs!) is behind all of this gorgeous imagery.

BE BRAVE WITH ATTIRE

As brides want to personalize their wedding, one way to do it is to stand out and wear something unexpected. The trendsetting brides often opt away from just the traditional white gown and put their own spin on what to wear down the aisle. Whether it’s donning a different colored gown like a blush, a mauve, or even a darker hue like a black (oh so Sarah Jessica Parker), this is surely one way to be a little unconventional.

“I would wear black if I were to do it again as it suits my own personality … my favorite gowns are always dark!” Nancy Liu Chin, Planner

SWAP OUT TRADITIONAL SEASONALLY BASED COLOR PALETTES

There is nothing like a pastel spring wedding. Or bright summer affair. But isn’t it time to mix it up? Why not have pastels in the late summer or fall? One way to do it is to ground the lighter hue with a deeper and moodier hue. Adding darker hues bring a little glam as well as a little richness. Look at the possibilities of the black chairs with the pastel flowers. Such contrast is so pleasing and makes a normal spring palette, now ready for Fall.

CREATE AN OLD MEETS NEW MASH-UP

Is there a way to incorporate Vintage and make it Modern? There is when it’s done in such a way in which something that looks old can still be meaningful for today. Christina paired a black console table from Found Vintage Rentals with a modern, straightforward tiered cake done so elegantly by A Spoonful of Sugar Cakes. The simplicity of the modern handmade flowers is so unconventional clean that it makes the vintage aspect fresh and new. The juxtaposition of these two items makes for a refreshing detail.

Same goes for invitations. Modern shapes like a rectangular and long invitation paired with a clean font that is enriched with a Chinoiserie pattern (hand painted by Elsa Madeline) makes for a new twist on something old.

Natural, classic, but an oval floral bouquet by Nancy Liu Chin Designs is styled with a structured, deep ebony gown and a model who has simple makeup and natural flowing hair is an update. In the past, a formal gown would mean an updo but with natural flowers and a high fashion gown, you don’t need to make the makeup or hair too stuffy. From head to toe, this look is crisp and clean.

Lastly, we love embracing the old but making it new again. For example, old-fashioned drinks have been the rage in lounges and bars for quite a while. Why not pick one that works for you? An 80’s favorite appetizer like a Beggar’s purses found a new modern styling with Betty Zlatchin Catering. We served our vintage cocktail of choice, the French 75, in champagne coupes (see the recipe by Betty Zlatchin below). Poetry is another option! One of Christina’s favorite elements from this inspired shoot was to bring in a quote from the poem that inspired it all, She Walks in Beauty by Lord Byron. The use of poetry, a wonderful quote that ties in the design, the mood, and really sets the tone of what the whole event is going to be about.

Whatever you embrace, whatever is personal, whatever unconventional thing that you add that will make your wedding a little more special, just remember to make it about the two of you.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Guests traveled from all over the world (London, Japan, Wales, New York, Washington, DC, and more!) for Michelle and Max’s gorgeous wedding weekend full of many custom details. The traditional Catholic ceremony was infused with Polish touches as a nod to Michelle’s maternal family roots. After the ceremony, Michelle and Max headed to the reception via the most epic getaway car: the original DB2 Aston Martin that Ian Flemming writes about in his books – surprise from Michelle for major James Bond fan Max! Their reception was held at Max’s family’s private property. Max’s father, architectural designer Mark Becker, custom designed and built their gorgeous bar focal moment. Olive oil favors were gifted in honor of the property resting on olive groves.[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Max’s mother created all of the floral centerpieces herself using antique vases she had collected for over a year leading up to the wedding. [/field]
