Amore Eterno – Romantic Inspiration at Newington House

Amore Eterno is an editorial shoot conceived to re-tell the history of one of Oxfordshire’s most beautiful stately homes, Newington House. Newington House’s story is impossibly romantic. Newington House hosts a small number of exclusive weddings each year allowing guests to have full use of the gardens and some of the beautiful spaces inside the house itself…. ~ Kim Balasubramaniam Wedding Design + Zosia Zacharia Photography

Newington House was built in the 17th Century as a gift for a homesick Italian princess by her British husband. The design was based on Reuben’s collection of engravings called “The Palaces of Genoa” and is therefore Italianate in design, and has been brought back to life by the current owners. Our editorial re-tells this story for the modern wedding. A tale of a young couple who met traveling Europe. She is Italian, he British and they have chosen to celebrate their marriage at this countryside estate.

Our bride was dressed in a Jesus Peiro gown which featured a lace bodice, long sleeves and pockets! A classic ballgown skirt, which fitted such an incredible venue was complimented by a bouquet of peonies, jasmine and my favourite Margaret Merril roses – so fragrant and so beautiful. Bespoke heirloom jewelery, imagined to be borrowed from the groom’s family collection, set off the ivory tones of the gown and featured deep burgundy and diamond stones. A pair of black lace Jimmy Choo heels completed her bridal look. The groom, effortlessly handsome in his dinner suit featured black patent shoes and a silk bow tie.

Inspired by the venue’s incredible gardens and interiors we chose a colour palette of dark blush pink, blackberry, gold and ebony which set the tone for this understatedly elegant look.

Our tablescape, set on the lush lawns at the back of the house had a backdrop of the stone steps and featured gold and black baroque charger plates, hand dyed silk bamboo napkins and wildly beautiful flowers including prunus foliage, peonies, sweet peas, astrantia and romantic antique roses. Cut glass stemware, gold rimmed flatware and cutlery added to the glamorous feel and a sprinkling of blackberries foraged from the gardens finished it to perfection.

The stationery was simple but oh so stylish. Classic black on which the white ink really popped. An olive leaf detail, wax seals and beautiful hand dyed silk ribbons complemented the suite. Hand written signage and tags adorned every element.

The wedding cake featured frangipani and delicate peonies both crafted expertly from sugarpaste. It nestled beautifully within the rose garden at Newington House. Each tier more delicious than the next – flavours included earl grey, lavender and honey, chocolate with rosemary and red-wine poached pear and lemon, blueberry & cream cheese.

At each place setting sat a gold leaf edged cotton pouch containing golden sugared almonds – a nod to the traditional Italian bonbonniere. These were finished with sugar frangipani flowers and hand lettered placement cards.

The staircase, mezzanine dressing room and antique furniture provided the perfect setting for the bridal preparations and is the most incredible light filled space. The staircase was bedecked with fragrant florals including roses, peonies, jasmine and beech foliage. Guests were greeted at the door with home made blackberry liqueur in miniature bottles, next to a giant stone urn containing beautiful blooms including hornbeam, olive, roses, peonies and ivy. A welcome basket containing almonds, chocolates and limoncello was given to each guest as they arrived.

The grounds are expansive and feature a small church, lake and views to die for over the Oxfordshire countryside. It is a very special venue and we were honoured to have been allowed to create this editorial there and tell the story of a unique piece of English history in our own way.

SO much more to see in the full gallery!!!

Cincinnati’s Cooper Creek Ballroom is Layered in All Out Glam

Tucked inside this ballroom wedding is a day filled with gold and glamour. (Two of our favorite things) There are sparkles, there are elegant, modern details and a neutral color palette that shines so, so bright. Just add in a ridiculously beautiful couple and a team of vendors including Exquisite Events by AmaneeBlossoms, and Megan Noll Photography, and the result is pure ballroom magic.

From the bride… Matt and I met on Tinder and went on our first date a week after we started chatting online. We met at Righteous Room for drinks and ended up having a 6 hour conversation over Jameson (his favorite liquor) and cosmopolitans (at the time my favorite cocktail). We celebrate our anniversary from our first date that night (February 5, 2014); mainly because the lines are a little blurred as to when we were “official” (when you fall in love who’s tracking ;-)). Matt and I love movie nights, cooking dinner for each other, going out for date nights in the city, and traveling! Because he lived in Italy for a year, that “forced” us to take several international trips between 2015-2016 while our relationship was long distance and discovered that seeing the world together was one of our favorite things to do. Together, he and I have been to Rome, Milan, Florence, Cinque Terre, Venice, Paris, Nice, Budapest, Barcelona, Lisbon, Sintra, and in the US San Fran, Napa, Miami, Chicago. We have many more to cross off our bucket list (and hopefully Fiji, Bora Bora, or Maldives for our honeymoon). Of course, jet setting can’t always fit into our budget or schedules so we make sure to try different activities together whether its seeing a play, the ballet, going out for dinner/drinks in Cincinnati, or just hanging out with friends. We’ve also started to make a habit of collecting wine from either our trips or important dates, and saving a bottle for special events/moments. For example, the day we booked our venue, we cracked open a bottle from a trip to Napa. A year after our trip to Florence, Matt made me an Italian dinner at home and we cracked open a bottle from Tuscany. Obviously we can’t wait to get into a special bottle on June 2, 2018 to commemorate the biggest day for us yet

Matt proposed on November 11, 2016 in Ault Park in Cincinnati. Two weeks prior we had traveled to San Francisco and Napa as a celebration trip (I was ending a 3 month period of consistent travel for work in San Fran so we decided to extend my stay and Matt joined to celebrate the end), during which Matt had originally hoped to propose. Unfortunately his attempts to contact my father via phone to ask for my hand in marriage were unsuccessful, so despite packing the ring with him to California, he decided not to go through with proposing having not heard back from my father. I had kinda been expecting it to happen in San Fran or Napa, so needless to say, I was a little bummed. Fast forward two weeks later, after which the election had happened, another random work trip had popped up, so I was super stressed/distracted so Matt proposing was the furthest from my mind. He asked if we could take a half day that Friday and go to lunch since I had been in such a bad mood that week and he thought that would cheer me up. After lunch (at Mazunte, did I mention before we LOVE tacos/Mexican food), he asked me if I’d like to go for a walk in Ault Park. At first I was hesitant because even though it was sunny, I felt a little cold; however, he then convinced me by saying that since I looked so nice we could take pictures in the park for my Instagram (note: Jen loves randomly posing for photos and posting on the gram; yes Matt is a future #instahusband). Needless to say I was sold, and after walking through the park for awhile, we stopped under an archway and he said this was a good place to pose. So after snapping a few of me, he told me to turn around and look off in the distance so he can get something a little more “artistic” (to a normal person this sounds ridiculous, but had anyone traveled through Europe with us, they would understand that this is what a good portion of our trip looked like). When I turned around after he said he got a “really good photo” he was on one knee with the ring in hand. All I could do was laugh because in that moment all I could think was “I thought we were taking photos for the ‘gram!) Of course I said yes, and 30 seconds later his younger sister (the only person he had told he was proposing) popped out of the bushes with a camera in hand; he had her poised to be his secret photographer. We spent the rest of the day drinking a special bottle of Prossecco we had saved, sharing the news with our closest family and friends, then went out that night to celebrate more!

San Francisco City Hall Wedding with a Modern Flair

Lisa and Jonathan met one fateful night while they were enjoying drinks at Lusk 25 in the heart of San Francisco. From that moment on, they knew they belonged together. They wanted to treat their friends and family to an elegant, black tie evening celebrating their marriage without the typical events and detailing that would make a wedding feel typical…. ~ Charmed Events Group

It was important to them that the day was modern and minimal in design but also in programming as well. Because of their love for modern minimal design, we created their aesthetic by using foliage, greenery and acrylics paired with cool greys and taupe tones to create their desired atmosphere.

For their ceremony, Tango and Foxtrot helped us create a modern foliage display for them to say their vows against. I personally loved this modern and whimsical creation because it was so different from what is usually asked for in a ceremony design. They didn’t have a wedding party to keep things simple and the effect was a beautiful focus on just the two of them.

For the reception, we wanted the space to feel fresh and different and put together lots of tall foliage trees paired with fresh white blooms and greens to create a modern take on City Hall. I loved the juxtaposition that was created in that traditional space with our modern design. Detail notes of the day were the acrylic signs that guests found their seats to as well as vellum menus with guest names adhered to them by a modern black clip.

Guests enjoyed the couple’s favorite desserts from San Francisco and post reception, retreated upstairs to a bar space that we created to emulate Lusk 25, which is the bar where they fell in love.

This Modern Home Finds a Sweet Balance Between Pretty and Practical

We all want our home to look design savvy but when it comes to real life, things like budget or kids often trump all those dream home wishes. Now enter Rachel Madden. She designed this Marin abode with modern sensibilities but practical enough for a family with a brigade of boys and their sports equipment. Take the full tour captured by David Livingston below!

This home was tailored to the lifestyle of a family with 3 young boys, while reflecting mom’s love of bright, modern spaces. We were challenged to combine Mom’s love of light and airy with something practical that could withstand the wrath of 3 boys and all their soccer gear.

We were also challenged to create something gender neutral – something pleasing to Mom but also pleasing to the boys who outnumbered her. We managed to accomplish all our goals with this project and create a home that was both light and airy, as well as practical and durable.

In the living room, we chose a high pile, neutral wool rug with color variation to hide crumbs and dirt. We chose a round coffee table which is always the best option with young kids in the house, and designed the seating surrounding the fireplace and TV and open to the retractable doors.

For practicality in the dining/kitchen, we chose a sealed dining table, plastic chairs, a bench for lots of tushies, an uncovered floor for easy sweeping, and a Sunbrella fabric on the counter stools. Although we used light materials, we made sure they were durable at the same time.

Bootjack Farm is the Perfect Spot for a Mountain-Garden Wedding

I remember when the Style Me Pretty book came out… I had just gotten hired. That was nearly six years ago! I loved how the book was broken up into styles—inspiration for every kind of couple. And today, we still celebrate those styles. But my favorite thing ever is when weddings combine those styles in a unique and unexpected way (something we look for in submissions all. the. time.) Today’s fete from Orange Photographie and Greenwood Events does just that and SO well. It’s mountain love with garden gorgeousness, all layered with the most elegant touches at Bootjack Farm. Take a virtual walk through, I think you’ll fall just as hard as I did!

From Orange Photographie… Lauren and Scott and their families and friends traveled from all over the country to celebrate in Big Sky country. And while Montana is usually known for its mountain scenery, this wedding also took advantage of the other stunning landscapes found here, including seemingly endless forest and the beautiful gardens cultivated at Bootjack Farm, a new venue in Whitefish, Montana. Lauren worked with the design and floral geniuses of Greenwood Events to produce an elegant garden party feel. Cascading florals and greenery adorned the ceremony arch, and the atmosphere of an English garden was mimicked on each reception table. Another favorite detail were the individually calligraphed name cards wrapped around each napkin created by Jessica Lee Calligraphy. Lauren looked gorgeous in a chic and classic Oscar de la Renta gown and Valentino heels, adding glamor to the garden soiree.

Bonnet Island Estate Boho Beach Wedding

When a professional football player married a bohemian beauty by the coast in New Jersey, it was certain that the day would be special… Kristen & Gerrard’s love was effortless! On their wedding day, Kristen was a vision in her Watters gown and her eucalyptus crown. With clean whites, cool blue tones and nautical details, the day was overflowing with beachy vibes. K&G’s truest smiles and tear-jerking vows made this day one of our all time favorites. We can still feel the love! ~ love & light photographs

From the Bride… Our story began 5 years prior to our dreamy wedding day down on Long Beach Island, our favorite place that houses some of our most precious memories. We met our final semester of college and hit it off from the start. Gerrard has always been the charming one from day one and his smile and laugh is my absolute favorite.

We absolutely fell in love with Bonnet Island Estate after visiting and knew it would be the perfect place
to celebrate our big day. Bonnet fit the beachy and rustic vibe we were looking for with plenty of space to make it creative in our own way. We chose a neutral color palette of light grey, white and navy with lots of greenery and white roses throughout. Wooden signs and favorites from New Jersey and Maryland complimented our day throughout many of our details.

Having both been athletes, and most of our party being athletes as well, we of course had to make our grand entrance first as Mr. & Mrs. with a football scene. We are both big sneaker heads also, so naturally as soon as we could, we traded in heels and dress shoes for our high top vans. Let’s just say our wedding parties were happy to join along with us and made the dance floor even more fun.

Our photographer, Jessa Schifilliti, captured the day perfectly with her team! We knew we were in the best hands and after talking through our vision, we let them take the wheel and do what they are best in the world at – capturing every moment of couples big days while keeping it stress free. There was so much love and laughter on our wedding day, and each photo radiates with the love and excitement we felt. She captured the dreaminess of the venue, every thoughtful detail and so many special
moments that we continuously look back on and will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Brunch Done Right with Cuisinart

What is the very first thing you did when you got engaged? Try on dresses? Book your venue? Instagram the news? Want to know what I did. I registered. For all of the amazing kitchen-ness I had always dreamed of. Because the thought of stocking my apartment with a stand mixer and a blender and a giant food processor was basically most people’s equivalent of winning the lottery. And while I’m not going to say this is a normal feeling, I am going to say that maybe it was the making of Style Me Pretty before I even knew that Style Me Pretty was a thing. So, in case you don’t get the same thrill that I got when it comes to stocking your newlywed kitchen, I’m here today to convince you otherwise. We’ve hosted the sweetest brunch you’ve ever seen using EXCLUSIVELY Cuisinart products that you, my dear, can put on that little registry of yours.

So before we dive into the food, let’s talk table. We partnered up with FiftyFlowers to create a pretty easy and (if I’m being the opposite of humble) stunning table. We let the pink peonies set the tone then sprinkled in roses in varying shades of peach.

While I love a good floral arrangement, I wanted to keep things speedy and simple with this centerpiece. I found a bunch of old food cans and I printed out vintage advertisements (that I literally found on google) in our color palette. I wrapped the cans using tape to secure. The result was totally adorable and ragingly easy.

The thing with brunch is this. If it’s too fancy, people won’t relax. If it’s not fancy enough, people don’t understand the time that it took to put something like this together and it just doesn’t feel as special. So for me, I always wear jeans, I always cook barefoot, I always set my table the night before and save small jobs for people to help me with on the day of. And I ALWAYS create pretty little “moments” around the house that people can revel in. You’ll see what I mean next.

A SMOOTHIE BAR

Moment number one and the star of the day. Although if I’m being honest, it’s the Cuisinart Hurricane Pro Blender that was the star. I just supplied the back-up singers. I’ve actually decided to ditch my Ninja after using this blender. Which says a lot. It’s crazy powerful (3.5 peak HP), it literally has a memory function and you can make anything using their presets from soup to smoothies

Here’s what you need for a good Smoothie Bar:

Vanilla Yogurt * Lots of Fruit Fixins * Healthy Additions like Flax, Chia & Walnuts * Juice (we used orange and mango) * Glasses * Straws * Spoons

Make sure that you set it up near a sink so that your guests (or you) can rinse the blender between batches. And encourage your guests to start with the yogurt & juice, then add fruit, then add the healthy fixins. This enables the blender to mix really easily and blend every smoothie beautifully.

A COFFEE BAR

Y’all. I can’t even tell you how obsessed I am with this Cuisinart Coffee Center. It has the best of both worlds all wrapped up into one pretty machine. One side is an auto drip and the other is single cup. So all of those decaf lovers can have their cake without ruining ours. It’s genius. And we set up a little coffee station to highlight the personalization capabilities of this pretty machine. A variety of mixins included Bailey’s, Cream, Caramel & Chocolate. Then we also had cinnamon sticks, chocolate melts, whipped cream and good old fashioned sugar.

WATERMELON SORBET COCKTAILS

Okay, I know I sound like an ad for Cuisinart (oh wait, this is an ad for Cuisinart) but I’m serious when I tell you that you are going to quickly become obsessed with this little frozen yogurt-sorbet and ice cream maker. After freezing the bowl overnight, I literally threw in a bunch of room temperature watermelon – and NOTHING ELSE – and turned this baby on. It pureed the watermelon into a gorgeous frozen treat that was worthy of it’s own cocktail.

The cocktail part? I added some sparkling pink wine and voila. Dunzo. It was the most beautifully refreshing, delicious cocktail I’ve ever had, perfect for impressing on a hot Summer Day.

WARM DONUTS

I know I keep blowing your mind with all of this Cuisinart creativity. I blew my own mind too. But this is really going to send you over the edge. Of all the Cuisinart products that we used, the Air Fryer (which doubles as a Toaster and Convection Oven) was my overall fave. It’s awesome. And it was the perfect way to serve up the EASIEST and most epically good warm donuts you’ve ever had.

All you need is Biscuit Dough, Butter and Powdered Sugar. Punch a hole in each biscuit, pop them into the air fryer for 2-3 minutes on each side, then drench in butter and coat with powdered sugar. Tastes like the perfect beignet from Cafe du Monde. And I take donuts very seriously. I wouldn’t kid you about this.

HASHBROWN NESTS WITH AN OVER EASY EGG

If there is one appliance that will save you an infinite amount of time in the kitchen so that you can kick back and hang with your friends, it’s the Cuisinart Elemental Food Processor. Aside from the fact that it has a huge work bowl so you can really get in there with larger recipes, it also has every attachment known to man so you can slice, dice, shred, spiralize to your heart’s content. And these little hashbrown nests were the perfect way to really put this processor to work.

3 Russet Potatoes (peeled), 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar, 1/2 cup shredded creamy fontina, 1/2 onion, 4 TBS butter, 6 eggs, 2 green onions (green party only) 1.5 tsp salt & 1/2 tsp pepper + extra of each to taste. 6 prepared ramekins

Using your trusty Food Processor, shred the potatoes, cheddar and fontina. Dice the onion. Squeeze the excess water out of the potatoes and the onion. Mix all together in a bowl with salt & pepper. Place enough potato mixture into your prepared ramekins to fill 3/4 of the dish, taking care to press the potatoes down. Bake at 350 in your toaster oven for about 15-18 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Crack an egg on top of each and sprinkle with salt & pepper. Place back in the oven for 3-10 minutes depending on how well done you like your egg. I like mine runny so it was only a 3 minute process. Sprinkle with green onions.

*We used ramekins that fit about 3/4 of a cup of potato/cheese mixture. You can also use muffin tins or smaller ramekins. If you do, your potato quantity might be more/less. If you have left over potato mixture, you can freeze and use for future nests!

CREAM CHEESE & LOX BAGEL PIZZA

prepared pizza dough, 1/2 cup cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, 4 ounces smoked salmon, 1/4 cup sliced red onion, 3 TBS capers, 2 green onions, sliced (green party only), everything but the bagel seasoning to taste, pam/oil for preparing pan

Easiest brunch dish EVER. Seriously. Spritz your Toaster Oven sheet pan with a little pam or brush with olive oil. Roll out the pizza dough (we used Trader Joe’s brand) to fit the toaster oven pan. Toast at 350 for about 15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oven and let cool entirely.

While your dough is cooling, mix the cream cheese and sour cream together. Slice your smoked salmon if need be. Use your Cuisinart Food Processor to slice your red onion. Once dough is cooled, slather with the cream cheese mixture. Then layer on salmon, sliced red onion, capers, green onion and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.

MADE TO ORDER BABY PANCAKES

This griddle is GEN.IUS. It’s obviously a really nice sized griddle but it also moonlights as an indoor grill and panini press plus it has optional waffle plates available for purchase too. These designers at Cuisinart aren’t playing around with this one. We used it for the obvious … silver dollar pancakes, made to order. To serve, we popped a little pad of butter on top and puddled some syrup underneath. YUM. But to me, a pancake isn’t a pancake without a side of bacon.

Lay your bacon on a foil covered sheet pan and sprinkle with some brown sugar. Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes until all crispy and delicious.

And that, my friends, is called brunch. With appliances that make the entire experience ridiculously easy. And you are at the one point in your life where you don’t actually have to buy them yourself! So when you are revving up that registry, just think of me over here at Style Me Pretty and all of the goodness that we whipped together using exclusively Cuisinart appliances and you’ll know that you are doing the right thing. Then make sure to send me an invitation when you decide to host your own Sunday done right brunch.

La Bastide de Toursainte ~ Historic Charm for a South of France Wedding

Romanticism is a perception. A dance which mingles love and beauty. For us, beauty is the light; soft, warm and may be wistful. Love is a bright pink color, acidulous like a last kiss of summer. This is our wedding definition, a pinch of light on a lover’s heart. The result is the alliance of elegance and a soft design…  Photography by Marinella de Castro / Event Planning + Design by White Eden Weddings

A loving soul needs a body to exist. We chose La Bastide de Toursainte in the South of France to create this meeting. It’s an historical venue with a secular charm. Some leaves on the floor which testify to the passing of time, some cracks on typical Provence walls, proof that love can resist everything.

What would love be without candlesticks and crystal glasses ? We wanted something chic and simple for the table, but always with this bright pink color touch. Flowers by Mademoiselle Jules deliver an intoxicating perfume and the color hides lover’s eyes while flames dance at the rhythm of hearts.

Beautiful stationery and calligraphy created by Silent Word Studio comes perfectly to the table. To immortalize every moment of this autumnal session, we chose Marinella De Castro, who knew, by her photographic talent, how to bring out the beauty of the accessories, flowers and the lovely bride. Her luminous stare through the lens of her film camera to sublimate love in every detail as with the dress by La Sposa.

The light caresses the bride’s sweet face, thanks to the artistry of the simple makeup of Karine Brossard, who also did the elegant hairdressing.

Finally, the light of sunset comes… to conclude this sweet session setting hearts ablaze like the passion of a new life for two.

This Atlanta Ballroom Wedding Has a First Look That Will Make You Melt

This ballroom wedding held at Atlanta’s Georgian Terrace is gorgeous all on its own but cut to the first look and I swear you’ll be a goner. It’s the sweetest moment between the Bride and Groom. And that is followed by glamorous touches designed by My Simply Perfect, with florals by Stylish Stems and the most beautiful images captured by Elle Danielle.

What was your favorite moment about your wedding day? The first look… Definitely the first look. Summer knew ahead of time that this was the most important moment for me. And if there is one detail of that day that I remember vividly, it’s the first look. For those few minutes, it was just about the two of us.

Tell us about your dress. It was the first dress I tried on. I was convinced I wanted a princess style dress but when we got to the boutique, the staff convinced me to try on a straight dress. The first one they brought me was gorgeous and I was sure it was going to be too much but when I tried it on, I fell in love.

I tried to talk myself out of it and tried on a few other dresses that day but a few hours later, I called and told them I wanted it. After all, I was the bride – when else was I going to get to feel like a princess?

What was your favorite decor element? Everything the florist did – the flowers, my bouquet, and the fabulous seat assignment board. Just stunning!!! Summer had a vision and I allowed her to run with it. Every single decor element was stunning. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Tuscany Elopement Inspiration at Villa Barberino

From Chiara with Weddings in Tuscany… We decided to organize the shoot at Villa Barberino for its beautiful Italian style gardens, which provided an absolutely perfect outdoor courtyard setting. Set halfway up the hill separating the Valdarno and Chianti Valleys, Villa Barberino dates back to the 14th-century. It was an amazing day working with some of the finest wedding vendors.

We used predominantly soft pastels – adding to the overall theme of romance. Our bride’s lush organic bouquet was created with fresh seasonal flowers from the garden.

The bride wore a tulle and lace gown designed by Adi Shlomo with lovely embroidered shoes from Bella Belle. The groom’s attire is by Menguin.

Usually, a Tuscan color palette is predominantly warm. We balanced the colors from the villa walls and its surroundings with the colors in our floral design. With a blush pink color palette, the stationery designed by Nicole of Every Little Letter was the perfect addition to a beautifully styled table setting. A soft pink velvet tablecloth and inlaid white plates completely enhanced the romantic feeling.

Audrey Norman, is a talented and passionate photographer. As you can see, she has the great ability to not only capture details but incredible moments.

There’s so much for from this beautiful wedding inspiration shoot in the full gallery!

Moscow Wedding or Inspiration Shoot: You Tell Us!

It wasn’t until we read the description behind this wedding day that we fully comprehended that it is, in fact, real life. Let me repeat, this is not a styled shoot. Instead, you’ll find the most romantic Moscow affair inspired by all things art. From lush painterly blooms by Flowers Lovers, to a Bride crafting an art piece during her boudoir shoot and a day layered in the dreamiest hues planned by Ajur Wedding, these images by Julia Kaptelova will make you fall head over flower-lovin heels.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/242452633 600 338]

From the wedding planner, Ajur WeddingThis real wedding is pure inspiration. With each stroke of the brush, the details add to the already ideal picture: one of the most picturesque Moscow areas, the warm day in June, the tenderest and the most beautiful bridal portraits, the ceremony in the greenhouse, wallowing in flowers and sun rays…

Not by chance, we named this wedding “What is love painting?” We wanted to show how a real feeling can turn your life into a work of art. The romantic mood of painting was included in all aspects of the celebration.

The wedding day began with a beautiful picture created by our bride, coming alive with each stroke of her brush. You feel this marvelous atmosphere in Lena’s divine boudoir dress with the airy and almost weightless cape, in her soft curls and certainly happy smile. Add to that the way Daniel is looking at his bride, the peerless flora soaring in the air, the ornamental greenhouse design reflected in the glossy pedestal surface and extending in the chairs’ back design…

The combination of the floral romance paired with modern stylish geometric decor further revealed Lena and Daniels’s character: the bride’s femininity and tenderness alongside the groom’s determination. The flowers were meant to emulate clouds, soaring with their weightless grandeur. The silver, glossy rays of light, the reflection on the smooth surface became stylish accents. The menu and the invitations were decorated with the symbolic, picturesque image of the greenhouse where the ceremony took place.

This wedding design detailed the story of love — the art in, and of– love. Unforgettable at first sight. We hope you will also feel the inspiration and keep these memories in your heart.

This Co-ed Baby Shower is the Perfect Mix of Mom and Dad

Sprinkling athletic flair with bohemian elegance is the name of this co-ed baby shower game. And you know what? It’s as if these two were always meant to be. Designed by Nicole Rosengren + Hope Shelly, with rentals by Archive and images by Brooke Borough, see how this baby shower combined a basketball loving dad with a mom’s love for pretty, feminine details and an ice cream truck too! Oh, what we wouldn’t give to be a guest at this party.

When Tia and Michael announced they were having a baby girl, all bets were on! Would their bundle of joy be a fun-loving tomboy like her basketball playing daddy or would she be the token of elegance and grace like her beautiful mama? We are guessing she will be a bit of both – which is why throwing this co-ed shower for my sister was so much fun! With an undertone of bohemian femininity and a sprinkle of athletic flair, we wanted to make sure the event reflected the perfect pairing of this young couple. We especially loved the juxtaposition of pink hints throughout the décor, offset by the blues and leather elements in the “daddy area”, that helped create a balanced effect for a co-ed vibe. Inspired by one of Tia’s favorite restaurants, The Butcher’s Daughter, we turned our Hidden Hills, family home into a backyard oasis. We enlisted the help of Paperplum to design the invitations and coordinating paper goods and we worked with photographer extraordinaire, Brooke Borough, to capture the event. Archive Party Rentals supplied the table, chairs, chevron backdrop and plates while interior designer and friend, Hope Shelley, made all of the floral arrangements. The exquisite cheese plate was provided by the Beverly Hills Cheese shop and Friends and Family LA catered the remaining appetizers and main courses including the butcher wrapped sandwiches and the all-time favorite, fried chicken and biscuits! There were so many personal touches to this party that made it special and unique. Pink shibori napkins were made by friends and family (it took 15 women all day to hand dye over 90 napkins!); each has a unique pattern and was kept as keepsakes. A block decorating station allowed friends and family to leave their artistic mark and provide yet another keepsake for the little lady on the way. The photo op chevron backdrop captured the mommy and daddy to be in their element, surrounded by their beloveds. A “daddy zen den” stocked with a whiskey bar and snacks provided sanctuary for the men…late into the evening! Guests were given copper mugs as party favors – most people opted to use them throughout the event to house the drink of the evening, the Moscow Mule. When it came to the games, I wanted to make sure we paid homage to Michael’s basketball roots. Winners competed for trophies in games of “dirty diaper basketball toss” and “baby doll pool toss”. It seemed a bit unfair that NBA player and daddy to be won the pool toss. We wrapped up the evening with sweet treats from family friend Cotty Bailey and enjoyed sprinkled ice cream from the super cool CVT Soft Serve truck!

8 Ways to Stay Sane (and Well Rested) the Week of Your Wedding

The Bride we are hosting today for a bit of real advice deserves a wedding trophy of some sort. Not only is she planning her own Big Day (a challenge in and of itself), she is a Maid of Honor in THREE other weddings and a guest in an additional wedding! I’m blown away by her and even though I’m already married, I want to know allll her tricks for staying sane (maybe I can apply them to mama life with a toddler, too!). I’ll let Lisa take it from here, because I know all of you B-to-B’s are dying to know her secrets, too.

Hello, Style Me Pretty readers! Lisa here. Soon-to-be-bride and seasoned Maid of Honor. This year, I am in five weddings (maid-of-honor in three) and in addition, planning my own. Just reading that probably exhausts you. So far, one down, four to go. In the magazines, planning a wedding looks like a blast. In many ways, it is. But being a bride (and a Maid of Honor, for that matter) can be exhausting, especially the week leading up to your big day. In the midst of taking care of all the final details and out of town guests, brides often forget to take care of themselves. And what awful timing?! The one time in your life you actually want and NEED your beauty sleep. In the midst of all the craziness, I’m here to share eight ways to stay sane and well-rested the week of your wedding. This way you don’t have to call in the professionals to help you get the glow you could have simply gotten from a good night’s sleep. (But for real, if you DO want the call in the pros, check out the routine I am following from Sona Med Spa – a little extra, but it has some good tips.)

1. Give yourself a bedtime

Science has shown lack of sleep increases stress levels. Without proper rest, you are more likely to get worked up over things you have no control over. Not to mention, the last thing you want is to be at your fiancé’s throat days before you say, “I do.” That is no way to start a marriage. The week of your wedding, give yourself a bedtime and stick to it! A full eight hours will increase your productivity and keep cortisol levels (aka the stress hormone) down.

2. Opt to unplug

Yes, I know it’s tempting to respond to every text and email sent your way the week of your wedding. But if you don’t set proper boundaries to unplug, you’ll find yourself up well past midnight on multiple occasions. In fact, the blue light from your phone fools your brain into staying turned on. Rather than responding to each and every message, try delegating responsibilities to your wedding planner and Maid of Honor. After all, they are there to help! Real life example: One of my friends who is getting married this weekend texted all her bridesmaids saying she was removing herself from the group chat because she knew all the texts would stress her out! Kudos to you, Hannah. Talk about a powerhouse bride. Note: Feel free to use, take out or crop. This is a legit text from my friend getting married Saturday!!

3. Create a wind down routine

Did you read that text above? Yes, Hannah declared she was having at least two glasses of wine every day leading up to her big day. Not bad advice! Whether it’s wine, a cup of chamomile or a hot bath, start winding down at least an hour before bed. Your brain takes a while to power down after a long day, especially if you are stressed. Dim the lights and use this time to communicate to your body it’s time for sleep! Pro Tip: Turn your entire house into a sanctuary with Style Me Pretty’s home relaxation guide. Just walking in the door will calm you down.

4. Put it to paper

If you find yourself lying in bed wide-awake, mind-racing, grab a pen and write your thoughts down. The longer you lay there spinning your wheels, the more sleep you miss out on and the more stressed you become.

5. Call in your confidant

Maybe you are verbal processor, maybe not. As for me, talking it out is my love language. If you reach the tipping point with that one vendor or, god-forbid, your future in-laws, call a friend and get it off your chest. I’m not saying bash you-know-who to your heart’s content, but talking it out will help you let go and move in. Little disputes are nothing to lose sleep over.

6. Wait until Monday

Speaking of future in-laws, mine gave my fiancé and I some great advice – wait until Monday to leave for the honeymoon. I know that idea may sound insane, but you are going to be exhausted after your wedding. They suggested we book a nice hotel, sleep in, order room service and fly out the next morning. That doesn’t sound bad. After all, the last thing you will be is bored.

7. Say “yes” to saying no

In the week leading up to your big day, it is okay to say no if you become too stressed or busy to deal with whatever comes out of left field. Like I said, delegate. This goes for your honeymoon too. Don’t be afraid to say no to excursions or sightseeing every single day. Your honeymoon is about being present with your new spouse anyway! It’s okay to take naps, lay on the beach and catch up on some rest.

8. Maintain a healthy sleep schedule with your new spouse!

Maintaining a healthy sleep hygiene lasts a lifetime. Even after your wedding week passes, it’s important you get quality sleep consistently and that means talking to your new spouse about expectations. I don’t know about you, but I am nervous about sharing a sleep space for the first time! My fiancé and I started by choosing the best mattress for us. We are different sleepers with different sleep preferences, but marriage is all about compromise. Through life’s ups and downs, a good night’s sleep just might keep you sane. Now you are equipped to take on your wedding week stress free. Take a deep breath, be present and try and catch those ZZZs!

Kestrel Park Plus An English Styled Castle for a Storybook Romantic Wedding

From Ashley of Chic & Pretty Events… Kestrel Park feels like something from the pages of a storybook. Every inch of the grounds are meticulously tended to with endless rows of flowers and trees adorning this English-like castle. For this style shoot, I wanted to stay true to the natural character of Kestrel by pairing refined and romantic with garden-style influences. Inspired by the turning of seasons from summer into fall, our color palette played with bella pink, lavender, duck egg blue, merlot and midnight…..

Harold Pratt House Wedding With Classic Vintage Details

There is something undeniably romantic about a winter wedding in New York City. It’s the stuff that movies are made of and with good reason. Enter, this celebration held at the Herald Pratt House layered with the most cozy and intimate vibes. Draped with elegant details planned by Classic Events and winter white blooms by Denise Fasanello, this duo gave their guests a classic, true New York experience—to which, Judy Pak beautifully snapped it all up. See it all here!

From the Bride… We started our planning knowing that we wanted a winter wedding in New York City (a dream of mine which Tony thankfully connected with). We also knew that we wanted our wedding to feel intimate, warm, and classic. Tony has two daughters, so an emphasis on family was really significant for us. The idea of welcoming our friends and families to celebrate with us as we became an official family unit was really special. A lot of our guests traveled in from out of town, so it was also important to us to give them a true New York experience.

I have always been drawn to the 1920’s, so my inspiration began with two photos of my Great-Grandmothers on their wedding days (photo has been uploaded). Working with a team of incredible vendors, we focused on modern interpretations of vintage-inspired details to create the timeless, romantic atmosphere that we had envisioned. Elements such as film photography, trailing love knots on my bouquet, and classic cocktails rooted our wedding in tradition, while welcome speeches given by my step-daughters, contemporary design elements, and our super fun DJ gave it that modern twist we wanted.

When it came to the actual day, we were prepared for it to fly by, but it almost seemed to move in slow-motion. Having complete faith in all of our vendors allowed us to relax into every individual moment. The weather was nice enough for us to take pictures outside before the ceremony began, both on our own in Central Park, and with our bridal party on Park Avenue. Looking through the pictures, we love the transition from the wintry outdoor shots to the warm candlelit images inside. Throughout the evening, it was amazing looking around at any given point and seeing all of our favorite people enjoying themselves as much as we were. It would be impossible to pinpoint a favorite part of the day, but ending the evening with everyone from ages 13 to 90 on the dance floor is a memory that we won’t soon forget.

A Modern Townhome Designed for the Love of Entertaining

It’s easy to get stuck on the surface layer when visualizing the vibe for your home… finding the perfect paint color, searching for statement lighting, art, you name it. But rather than focusing on the items that will make your house a home, it’s always a good idea to start with the vibe you want to achieve. This modern townhome, designed by Stephanie Jean Design and Kerrisdale Design Inc., was geared towards homeowners who love to entertain—a fabulous vibe if you ask me! See the full tour captured by Tracey Ayton, in the gallery.

This was one of two showsuites at the Sakura Townhouse development in South Surrey BC. Built by Castle Hill Homes and designed by Stephanie Jean Design and Kerrisdale Design Inc, this showsuite was geared towards homeowners who love to entertain. Capitalizing on the natural light and modern architecture, the showsuite features a palette of gray, taupe, cream, and white. Accents of gold and natural materials all contribute to the design mix. The designers layered in patterns through accent pillows and other textiles. The contrast of dark and light create an elegant and high end feel.

Oceanfront Elegance at the Olowalu Plantation House

From Platinum Weddings and Events… With the groom’s family ties rooted deep in the island of Hawaii, choosing Maui as their destination wedding location was an easy choice for this gorgeous couple. ~photography by Chris J Evans

The couple wanted a more traditional bamboo canopy for the ceremony. So we created an asymmetrical draping to set their alter apart from weddings done in the past.

Bridesmaids wore neutral colored Joanna August dresses to accent the bride’s hand beaded, custom-made gown.

The couple’s design vision was one of classic romance meets Maui: lots of greenery and white flowers; long wooden farm tables with flowing neutral table runners and gold accents.

Platinum Weddings and Events came in and added touches of bronze and emerald to the tablescape, and natural wood calligraphy to tie in the natural-Hawaii feel of the Big Day.

Making a Bold Statement With Wallpaper…On the Ceiling

I love a good wallpaper moment, especially when it involves an unexpected ceiling installation. I mean!!!! Rachel, of Crate and Cottage, crafted the ultimate hallway makeover for the recent One Room Challenge and it’s gorgeous all on its own but when you point your eyes up, it quickly moves this space to #1 status.

Welcome to the Hallway Makeover. This space has come a very long way. It wasn’t inspiring and I wanted to add texture and elements that would draw your eye up to the beautiful beams in the ceiling. To make this space seem larger we added board and batten throughout the hallway and even up the staircase. I wanted to use a high gloss paint that I could wipe easily especially those from messes from grimy kid hands. We used Alabaster White by Sherwin Williams and some simple 1×3 and 1×4 boards to finish off the look.

I decided to think outside of the box on the ceiling treatment. I wanted the beams to pop and always wanted something unexpected. I love the use of wallpaper these days and wanted to use this technique on the ceiling. I had never seen it used on a ceiling and challenged myself with trying. I choose a simple peel and stick wallpaper off Amazon and applied. With beauty comes pain right? My neck and arms ached for days and application can be tricky, but it was worth it for that finished pop of color.

I repainted my grandmother’s old chest a darker gray, Gauntlet Gray by SW, and then bought a new rug and mirror from Wayfair to finish the look. It’s amazing what a little texture and detail can bring to a space. I added an old chair and some decor accents from TJMAXX to polish off the look. The hanging chandelier was given to me by Aneko Designs and definitely finishes the space.

Even a hallway can take on beauty, its all in what you want to see and create. Challenge yourself to try something new and out of your comfort zone. For more details on this One Room Challenge and this space with sources visit Crate & Cottage.
