Gorgeous Green DC Wedding at The Fairmont Washington

There are a handful of colors that make me nervous… among them include purple, red and green. But time and again, I’m proven that each of these hues can shine beautifully when done just right—and oh, does today’s fete do green justice. No surprise there, with Grit & Grace Inc. behind the planning and design and Holly Heider Chapple on florals (how stunning are those creamy bouqs against the mismatched bridesmaids dresses?!). Lisa Ziesing for Abby Jiu Photography was there to document it all… see it here in the full gallery.

From Holly ChappleThe bride and groom met in preschool in Fort Myers Florida. One of their first memories was at a Bat Mitzvah in 2003. Neither of them were dancing when a slow song came on and a match maker came out of the wood works and suggested Daniel ask Alana to dance. They dated in high school and remained good friends as Daniel went off to Rollins College a year before Alana graduated. Alana used every excuse she could to visit him with her friends, and Daniel even returned to his old high school to attend prom with Alana as her date. Alana moved to DC for college, in part because she knew how much Daniel loved it, and during her senior year, Daniel made his way to the District for a job on the hill. Alana chased Daniel while they explored DC together and this is ultimately why they decided to get married here…where they fell in love, built a life together and wanted to share this with their families.

Alana and Daniel’s day featured rich, varied green bridesmaid dresses, which popped against the floral bouquets. Both of the bride’s dresses were show stoppers and custom made for her in Israel. She travelled there a few times to have them made! The super unique escort wall was dreamt up by Grit & grace to pay homage to the romantic parks in Paris. The copper coated pillar with gentle patina was a huge talking point.

The use of white leather as backers to menu cards was so unique. The place cards and the rough cut “posters” on the escort wall were carefully chosen as a natural element but with a little sass….just like Alana’s incredible personality. The transformation of the Grand Ballroom still allows for peaks of the beautiful mired walls and modern chandeliers at The Fairmont. Mixing velvet & wood created an outdoors in vibe and the floral and trees truly helped make this reception feel like a Midsummers’ Night Dream in Fall. Little salt and pepper capsules were made by the bride for the tables and each VIP guest at the king tables.

The welcome gifts were designed with a drawing by a family friend and complied by Marigold & Grey for over 200 guests that all travelled from out of town. They included many of the bride and grooms favorite things! Larry is their huge white fluffy dog who played a huge roll throughout their wedding including an entire after party themed as Larry’s Lounge.

Neutral Manhattan Beach Wedding Inspiration for Southern California Brides

There’s nothing quite as romantic as the ever-restless sea… the tides, the shifting sands, the delivery of unmatched sunset backdrops. Maybe it’s why many of us look to the ocean to celebrate love. This beautiful editorial, planned and designed by Shannon Leahy and captured by Larissa Cleveland, is all of the above wrapped into one and made for the SoCal bride.

From Shannon LeahyIf there is one thing our clients are always requesting it’s a wedding on the beach. We wanted to create beautiful inspiration for our Southern California Brides of a Winter Wedding on the Beach. We tapped creatives Elsa Madeleine Design and Jasmine Rae cakes to make the most beautiful paper and cake design. Raw, organic and subtle just like the sea. For the decor we worked with Flowerwild, Theoni and The Ark to create a neutral, minimalist palette that showcased the natural beauty of the Southern California coastline in muted tones. This most stunning gown from Jin Wang showcased pearl inlays that inspired a lot of the mood and decor for this shoot. We love the way this team came together to create a beautiful environment and the incredible photos that Larissa Cleveland was able to capture and hope this shoot leaves you inspired!

Vintage Details Meet Modern Design Inside Kristin Johns’ Home Tour

The minute we laid eyes on Kristin Johns’ home, the CEO and Founder of Kristin Made, we were overwhelmed by it’s happy character, charming decor and sun-soaked kitchen. Kristin’s adorable LA abode is the perfect mix of vintage flee market finds and trendy modern details. Oh, and if you fancy yourself a plant enthusiast – this house is literally about to be your dream… over 60 (yup, we said 60) plant friends come together to bring so much life to this little house of hers. Top it all off with two of the cutest golden retrievers we’ve ever seen and its official – this home tour is one of our all-time favorites!

When you were shopping for a home to buy in LA, what were a few things that were really important to you that you knew you couldn’t live without?

When we were looking to buy a house, there were two things that I knew I were super important to me: bright light & character. I work from home shooting videos and photos constantly so that is why the lighting in the house was really important to me. I am also someone who just loves natural sunlight, it makes me so much more energized & happy. Luckily our house is probably one of the brightest houses I’ve ever been in so it definitely checked off that box! Buying a house with character was also very important to me because I love when things feel cozy and lived in – I don’t so much love the super modern & new feeling that comes with most of the houses here in LA. Right when I walked into our house I knew it had character, there are scalloped edges around the built ins, original molding from the 1940’s, and so many little quirks that are funny & special to us.

It’s clear from your YouTube channel and Instagram that you have a knack for fashion and beauty. How does your personal style translate into the design of your home? Are the two similar or not really?

My personal style is a little bit all over the place! I love super flow flowery dresses and clogs but I also love mom jeans, crop tops & Doc Martins! I feel like this somewhat translate into the way I decorate my home because I love vintage decor as well as modern decor but my goal has been to seamlessly mix the two! A good trick I’ve learned from decorating our house is that you don’t have to have the aesthetic of each room the exact same because then it starts to feel a little like a showroom. The key is just to make your house feel cohesive & don’t be afraid to add things that are really special & unique to you!

What would you say is more difficult, pulling together a room or pulling together an outfit?

I would definitely say pulling a room together is a bit more tricky than pulling an outfit together. Now, honestly that might just be because I am much more picky about my home decor than I am about my outfits! I just feel like there are so many aspects about pulling together an entire room – it takes a lot of time as well as trial & error.

Which room is your favorite in the house and why?

My favorite room in the house is our kitchen & it has been since the first time I walked in! It is the perfect size for us, it’s always bright & sunny, there is abundant storage everywhere & I love the way it is decorated. It is also the room in the house where everyone hangs out when we are having friends over. I always thought the living room was going to be the hang out spot but no, there have been times where there’s about 30 people all sitting around & hanging out in my kitchen & I love it!

How does your passion for plants affect how you design each room in your house? Do you hope to have a garden one day?

I do have to admit I am a little bit of a plant addict that’s for sure – I have about 63 plants placed around my house right now & I seriously want more! I would say that putting a plant in a room is always the finishing touch for me. I love how they add so much life & color to a room the second you add one in. There are at least 4 plants in each room in our house & each one has their perfect spot! I hope one day to have my own greenhouse actually. My husband & I actually spent about a month going around to thrift stores looking for old windows & collected enough to build an all window greenhouse but we are still deciding if we actually have enough room outside to put it together!

What’s your advice to someone who is really excited to decorate their first home but doesn’t know where to start!

My advice would be to start slowly & get your key pieces first. Get your couch, your dining room table, large area rugs & your bed & then you can build out your style & your aesthetic from there. I think the biggest mistake I made when we first bought our house was feeling this pressure that everything had to be decorated immediately but that would A. Drain your bank account and B. Not allow you the time to find things that are really special to you. Take your time & only bring things into your home that you absolutely love.

What room do you spend the most time in?

I probably spend the most time in my kitchen. I cook in the kitchen, eat in the kitchen & work in the kitchen as well because we have a cozy little breakfast nook in there.

Walk us through your kitchen. Do you have any tips for keeping an organized kitchen?

When you walk into our kitchen you first see our breakfast nook which is where we eat 90% of our meals. Our dishwasher & trash can are actually camouflaged as regular cabinets which I think is genius (no need to see a big black trashcan!) Then at the end of our kitchen we have a little coffee nook as well as our pantry. Keeping your kitchen organized can be a bit of a struggle because cooking always causes a bit of a mess. The number one tip that I use is to clean as you go when you’re cooking, then you aren’t left with a big mess to clean up at the end of the night. As far as organization goes I tend to lean on the side of minimalism. I don’t enjoy having a bunch of mix matched mugs and plates and utensils so that makes things in the cupboards look much more organized!

We are big fans of your brand, Kristin Made!!! What inspired you to start Kristin Made?

Thank you so much! I can’t really think of one thing in specific that inspired Kristin Made because all of my interests & passions inspired it! My love of home making, design, plants, cooking, making things with my hands, fashion, beauty & encouragement are all things that inspired the creation of Kristin Made. It’s like my brain & my heart joined together to create a brand.

The Kristin Made “Watch Me Grow” shirt is SO cute, we are so excited to see what new products are around the corner! Any chance we can expect to see some Kristin Made home décor products in the future?

The Watch Me Grow shirt was definitely a hit which I was so happy about. I am so glad people could see how much detail was put into it & how special it really is! We actually just launched our second round of products which are hair scarves! I’ve always loved wearing bows & ribbons in my hair & at this point I feel like I am kind of known for it to my followers so it was a no brainer to make my own. It is a bundle of three hair scarves called “The Root Collection” and I hope to keep adding more and more colors! We also have so many other amazing products launching in 2019 that I could not be more excited for!

Camper and Honey are the CUTEST – any tips for keeping your house so neat and tidy with two pups running around?

They are the best! I have always wanted to Golden Retrievers of my own because my family always had them growing up. They are so sweet & hilarious I wouldn’t trade them for the world BUT they are shedding machines! I am not joking when I say I could make a sweater a day with all the fur they shed! I have just made it part of my morning routine to walk around the house & sweep up the fur & vacuum the rugs. We also just got a Roomba which helps out a little bit. When I get frustrated with the shedding though I always think back to a quote my dad always says “it’s called FURniture for a reason!”

Are there any mistakes you feel like you might have made when decorating or remodeling? Will you be remodeling any other areas of your home soon?

I don’t feel like I’ve made mistakes with decorating because things are never permanent, you can always move something or get rid of things that you don’t enjoy anymore! When in comes to remodeling, yes we have definitely made our fair share of mistakes. We remodeled our front yard, built a pool & remodeled our backyard, & we completely renovated our master bathroom. Every single time we hired the wrong contractors. It is so important for your contractors to know what they are doing & stick to a timeline & unfortunately we ended up with not so great ones. Thankfully everything turned out perfect but it wasn’t without lots of stress! I don’t think we are planning on doing anymore renovations soon, but I’m sure in the future we might decide to!

What stores or online resources are your faves?

I love getting inspired on Instagram and Pinterest – there are so many beautiful & unique homes to look at! If you are struggling to decorate your shelves you can just type in “style shelving” on Pinterest & you will have never ending photos to gain inspiration from. I also find that I get most inspired when I am traveling. Seeing the styles of different cultures is so much fun. The two places that I have visited that I feel like made the most impact on my decor style are Copenhagen & Morocco.

A Timeless, Tented Black and White Affair at the Inn at Rancho

This elegant affair captured by Sposto Photography and planned by Haute Fêtes is our definition of the perfect black and white wedding. The gorgeous bride and groom tied the knot at the historic Inn at Rancho Sante Fe (one of our all-time favorites!) Guests dined underneath the most gorgeous white tent ever, made even more beautiful with Plenty of Petals’ floral arrangements lush with black, white and berry-colored blooms. Every classic bride who loves a touch of whimsy is going to be head over heels for this timeless day.

From HauteFêtes Fine Weddings & EventsQuite often, family or friends can know you better than you do yourself, especially when it’s four generations in the making. In 1895, Andrew Levy and Mollie Hughes’ great-grandfathers set a friendship in motion that nearly 130 years later would result in the marriage of the couple and the union of their two families. The St. Paul, Minnesota families stayed close over the years but, unbelievably, Andrew and Mollie never met. Until a fateful TV interview, where upon seeing her on the local news, Andrew’s great aunt knew that her best friend’s granddaughter, Mollie, would make a perfect match for him. After introducing the two, Andrew’s email to Mollie began, “Well, this is awkward…” Any hint of awkwardness, however, rapidly faded. And three years later, on August 19, 2018 after Mollie was accepted into law school in San Diego and Andrew also took a job locally, the two tied the knot in a romantic, tented black and white affair in beautiful Rancho Santa Fe, California.

Upon learning how Mollie and Andrew met, I knew her wedding was going to be a family affair with Mollie’s mom, who still lives in Minnesota, actively involved. In describing how she envisioned her wedding, Mollie had a clear vision of a black and white-themed wedding that was elegant but understated, timeless but filled with clean, crisp design. We looked at several local venues, ultimately selecting the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe for its sense of history and intimacy. It was the perfect location to host a multi-day wedding weekend which would also serve as a destination for the majority of their guests coming in from out of town. Inspired by the natural elegance and history of The Inn, we built off Mollie’s color palette using black and white as neutrals, pairing beautiful La Tavola patterned and striped linens (even on the sweetheart chairs) as whimsical details.

Summer raspberry and blackberry hues emboldened our florals, adding a pop of rich color to our palette. While the wedding was an al fresco affair, the reception was held under a stunning ivory chiffon-swagged tent with the entrance curtains trimmed in black. Elegant wood feasting tables with white hemstitch runners were used in combination with textured ivory linen topped-square tables above which we hung three enormous crystal chandeliers. Bringing the cut glass detailing down to the reception tables for our candleholders and stemware, we paired pretty scalloped dinner and salad plates with vintage silver flatware which added to the sense of timeliness, further heighted by a fun black and white striped dance floor, and black ribbon-tied white hemstitch guest napkins. The stationery continued the black and white palette with the envelope liner bringing in splashes of our berry color with Whimsique’s hand painted florals.

At HauteFêtes, we are committed to ensuring that our couples’ guest experience is just as memorable as theirs, and exceeds everyone’s expectations. So we approach design with that goal in mind recognizing that the design is in the details. Given the midsummer heat, we incorporated special touches such as lemon sorbet shots which were served to guests prior to the ceremony, each with a vintage spoon the bride’s grandmother had collected; pretty fans and parasols in baskets to cool guests in the sun; monogrammed linen cocktail napkins and black and white striped sun umbrellas for cocktail hour; and, rolled black and white pashminas for when the temperatures dipped a little in the evening.

Prior to dinner, guests were served delicious California inspired-canapes including ahi tuna topped with a fennel citrus salad, and lamb lollipops with French stoneground mustard; and later, ice-cream and a chocolate bar served by local San Diego chocolatier, Chuao, with an assortment of after dinner treats. Guests were treated to live music throughout the entire event, with a string trio for ceremony, followed by a piano and saxophone duo during cocktail hour, and finally a full band for the reception. Mollie glowed in her stunning Reem Acra wedding dress and Sophia Webster strappy sandals which she changed out of for the after party into a stunning Sophie et Voilà gown. We were delighted with the way the whole day – in fact the whole weekend – came together and even more thrilled to have been a part of Mollie and Andrew’s happily ever after.

Red Done Oh-So-Right in this Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa Wedding

Red can be a scary color to incorporate into your Big Day (especially if you’re a neutral-lover like me!). Too much and it can be over-powering, too little and it can feel misplaced. But when you get that magical in-between balance of just right, like today’s fete planned by Kelsey Rae Designs, it’s SO, so good my friends. Complete with floral Jenny Yoo bridesmaids dresses and blooms by Carla Kayes, it’s the perfect day to celebrate this happy combo of hues. See the whole celebration captured by Bryan N. Miller and Amari Productions below.

From the Bride… Josh and I met at the University of Arizona back in 2009. We both had mutual friends so it was easy to become friends fast. He was a D Chi, and I was a Pi Phi. We fell for each other and started dating back in February 2010. We’ve truly been in love ever since. After 9 years together, we’ve been through so much together and that’s what has helped built our love. But to be specific, I love how dedicated he is to our business (we own a unique wedding venue in Las Vegas called The Industrial Event Space) and how patient he is with me when I’m having a challenging day. He loves how sweet and caring I am to him and how supportive I am to his dreams.

Can you give an overall inspiration you had for your day?

When we decided Spring, my first thought was outdoor wedding! I’m from the hot desert so we don’t get to see GREEN often. My vision was for an outdoor venue that was tucked away in a meadow to offer privacy for our big day. I was inspired to have a full service, formal wedding, but that felt laid back and casual. Most of all, I wanted to celebrate how true and pure Josh’s and I love is for one another.

Where did your inspiration for red originate?

I always knew I wanted to flowers to be a focal point of the wedding, the women in my family, especially my mom LOVES flowers. My sister owns and operates a floral design studio in our hometown Las Vegas, so she gave me plenty of advice of flowers in bloom and what’s in season. In our venue in San Diego, I was inspired by the deeper reds and pinks from bougainvillea naturally overflowing the backdrop every corner we looked. It was a perfect contrast to the softer pastel colors. When I worked with my florist Carla Kayes, she assured me that incorporating the deeper red within my Spring color palette was a great choice! And I’m so happy with how everything came together. (I also tried to incorporate my bridesmaids with a deeper pink/ magenta lip color to compliment their light pink floral dresses!)

Having gone through the planning and design process, do you have any words of wisdom for brides currently planning their wedding?

Try to not get overwhelmed like I did! My wedding wouldn’t have been possible without my wedding planner Courtney from Kelsey Rae Designs. I knew a planner would be an additional charge, but I also knew the service they would provide would be priceless and that she was more like a friend looking out for me. I wanted my wedding to be a day where everything was taken care of, and it was. The wedding industry is full of information and things can get overwhelming. Take a breath, and trust your intuition of what you and your partner want for your wedding. Josh and I really trusted our gut of incorporating little details that were us, and it was nice to look back and feel that day was completely us!

Did you have a favorite moment during the wedding day that stands out in you mind?

One of my favorite moments was when my photographer Bryan Miller came to me toward the end of dinner and the speeches and said “Ok! I think I got everything… is there anything else you think I need to capture?” And I said “ummm I’m not sure…” All of a sudden, the band started to play the Hora, a traditional Jewish wedding song that officially starts the party on the dance floor. Before Bryan and I could even finish talking, I was whisked away to the dance floor. Josh and I sat on our chairs, and all the strong men lifted our chairs in the air to sing and dance. This moment was truly the BEST PART of the entire evening because every single guest was up out of their seats, on the dance floor singing and celebrating us. Josh and I held on tight to our chairs and each other’s hand as we were bounced around, smiling and laughing the entire time. From the corner of my eye, I see Bryan with his camera capturing the whole scene. The Hora ended and Bryan found me through the crowd with his happy, bright wide eyes and said “That was amazing!! I got all of that!”

Jackson Hole Vow Renewal at Spring Creek Ranch in Every Shade of Pink

Do you all love when a Groom writes the love story as much as I do? Today’s real-life vow renewal from Simply Sarah, is paired with the sweetest damn writeup and a meet-cute that’ll have you aww-ing up a storm. Hitched JH helped to plan this celebration of love, while Magnolia Ranch tackled design and florals—making for a vows and views moment like no other. Pull up a seat and enjoy this mountainside jaw-dropper … after you finish oooh-ing a wee bit more over these killer Bella Belle shoes!

A Valentine’s Day reminder that “The real act of marriage takes place in the heart, not in the ballroom or church or synagogue. It’s a choice you make – not just on your wedding day, but over and over again…” (from barbara de angelis).

From the groom on how he and Victoria met and fell in love… Victoria and I met on a bus winding through the astounding beauty of the Swiss Alps. We connected immediately, sharing a profound respect and reverence for the spectacular peaks that passed by our windows. As we winded through the alpine valleys and through the mountainous tunnels, we discussed our lives and families. It didn’t take long to realize that we had more in common than our love for travel. Victoria’s family had recently purchased a vacation home in Jackson Hole. I am a Jackson native and this lovely woman sitting next to me had just shared that she vacationed in my hometown. If that wasn’t coincidental enough, her family’s house was on Snow King the exact same neighborhood where I grew up.

When we met I was working as a travel guide bringing people to destination resorts throughout greater Europe. My colleagues and I frequently talked about how lucky we were to get paid to travel the globe. My job, however, provided me with even more luck than money and experience; it placed me on a path that crossed Victoria’s. We talked for nearly eight straight hours as our bus brought us to the Jungfrau resort town of Interlaken. I remember thinking to myself that whatever paths my youthful, meandering life had brought me down, I sincerely hoped my life would end up on the same trail as Victoria’s. The conversation concluded, and I told her that the next time she was in Jackson hole, I would love to be her guide to the valley.

As life sometimes does, time and space separated Victoria and I. We kept in touch over the following years; she was in D.C. and I was living in Rome, Italy. Fate finally saw fit for our paths to cross again during a winter vacation in Jackson and the rest was history! We are so excited to call Jackson our home and to raise our family in this fairytale of a town. We are so happy to have shared our love for the mountains with all our friends and family!

A Valentines Day Engagement Session in the Sand Dunes That Will Wow

Happy Love Day everyone!! Today we’re celebrating this extra romantic holiday with the most drop-dead gorgeous engagement session from Natalie Bray Studios. This adventurous couple captured their love in the vast Sand Dunes of California. The bride-to-be wore the most unreal-gorgeous red dress we’ve ever laid eyes on and the pictures came out AMAZING. Top it all off with a breathtaking bouquet from Native Poppy and we’ve got ourselves the most perfect V-day engagement shoot of all time.

From Natalie Bray Studios… The Sand Dunes are such a magical location. Free to be alone and wander among the rolling hills. Julie and Sang’s adore the outdoors, they hike and love to travel.

Their adventurous spirits led them to this beautiful location and we couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather. We met 1 1/2 hours before sunset for the most beautiful light of the day.

Julie had two outfits, one more casual and a stunner gown in a lovely shade of red. The pop of red in Julie’s dress, plus Sang’s dapper black suit was a match made in heaven. Add in florals from Native Poppy and wow! Hope you enjoy and thought this might be fun for Valentines day.

The Best & Brightest Engagement Ring Trends for 2019

Ahem, heads up ladies (or should we say, ring fingers up?)… If you’re hoping to get engaged in 2019, make sure your S.O. is *conveniently* standing over your shoulder right now as we share the top 7 engagement ring trends for the year and they’re all in platinum! From jaw-dropping double and triple bands to playful pops of color, trust us when we say these trends will not disappoint. Keep on reading for your daily dose of sparkle!

1. Three-Stone Rings

Not only is Meghan Markle inspiring 2019 trends in the wedding dress department, but she’s also inspiring the number one trend on our list! 2019 brides are going to be all over the three-stone engagement rings thanks to the Duchess herself. Keep your ring looking royally gorgeous and forever lasting with a platinum setting.

Expert Tip: Platinum is one of the strongest metals on earth and lessens the chances of stone loss, so you can rock your three-stone ring without worry.

2. Double and Triple Bands

This trend will be all over ring fingers of our 2019 brides who aren’t afraid to be a little bit extra. Some brides love the element of symmetry that the two bands create, some love the symbolism behind the stone being protected by two matching bands.. and some just simply love the way it looks! Talk about having to do a double-take… see what we did there ;)

3. Pop of Color

Our #3 engagement ring trend for this year is ditching tradition and opting for a more colorful look. From feminine pinks to baby blues, color will be popping up all over 2019. How gorgeous is this platinum emerald ring?! Pair your one-of-a-kind stone with platinum and you’ll have a ring like no other.

Expert Tip: Platinum is a naturally white metal, unlike white gold which is mixed with metals to appear white, so it won’t cast any color into your diamond or gemstone.

4. Pear Shaped Diamonds

Whimsical & Playful Wedding at The Little Nell on the Top of Aspen Mountain

Twenty seven seconds into this film from Elysium Productions. That’s why I love weddings. And the rest of the film, well, let’s just say I shed some of the happiest tears. As their photographer, Rachel Havel, so appropriately said, “…there are those that seem right for each other and then there are those that seem like they were made for each other. For Letty and Scott, it’s obvious that they were made for each other.” Planned by Bluebird Productions, you can find all of the perfectly pink details of their day here in the fully gallery.

From Rachel Havel… In relationships, there are those that seem right for each other and then there are those that seem like they were made for each other. For Letty and Scott, it’s obvious that they were made for each other. It’s the joy and love in Letty’s eyes when she looks at Scott. It’s the way Scott seems to be absolutely lost in the presence of Letty. What a beautiful thing to witness.

Letty and Scott invited their friends and family to celebrate atop of one of the most beautiful mountains in Aspen, CO. They infused their playful personalities into their stationery and florals, with a colorful palette and whimsical design. Of course, their sweet little pup “Penny” had the honor of being featured on their stationery.

The outdoor florals were designed with a delicate and romantic aesthetic, echoing the bright fuchsia and pink colors of the stationery, while the indoor setting remained neutral and organic with whites and greenery sprawling the room in an effortlessly elegant manner.

The Sweetest All White Nursery We Ever Did See

Prepare for some of the cutest inspiration ever for your little one’s room because this all white nursery is what we like to call Pinterest perfection. From sweet little pieces like a pink and white striped bunny mobile and kitten hamper to handmade built-ins by Lucy’s grandpa – this whimsical nook is everything a little girl could dream of and more. Check out the full gallery from Bow Tie Collective (aka the parents of this lucky baby girl) for all the details of this enchanting design.

From Bow Tie Collective… I knew I wanted a calm, quiet and peaceful space for our little girl’s nursery. When I envisioned her room in my head, I saw pale pink and white, soft fabrics, lots of textures and a room full of dainty details. The layout of the room was a bit tricky. The room has an alcove with a sloped ceiling, as well as floor windows with an arch on the main wall, so we weren’t exactly dealing with a standard bedroom here.

I talked to my Father, an incredibly patient handyman, and told him my vision and asked how we could make it work. After lots of sketching, lots of brainstorming and precise measurements, we had a plan. He worked around the clock for months to build this nursery. The man has the patience of a saint! He worked 10 hour days, 5 days a week and after 3 months our nursery was complete.

He started with the dresser which we decided to make extra long and use the entire wall space. The dresser has 16 drawers and 8 cabinets – hello baby storage! He handmade every piece – each X on the front of the cabinet doors, he carefully cut and glued together. After the dresser/changing table was complete, we built the cubbies. Again, precisely spaced and painted.

He then laid the shiplap behind the changing area, as well as the shiplap on the entire accent wall to the left. I mean, give me all the shiplap! Am I right? We then hung curtains, installed the chandelier, painted the room and ceiling, put together furniture, hung the wall decor and BAM! A very long and detailed process later, our little girl has the most beautiful, serene nursery I could have ever dreamed of!

Looking for the Perfect Wedding Shoes? We’ll Take One of Each Please.

Loves, if you’re on the hunt for the perfect bridal shoes, look no further. I am actually considering planning a vow renewal just so I can scoop up one (or two) of these beauties. A shoe change is just as acceptable as a dress change, right? This editorial was dreamt up around Bella Belle Shoes‘ latest collection and it couldn’t be more alluring. It’ll make you want to lift up that dress and show off your feet on the Big Day. With Laura Gordon behind the lens and an incredible vendor team to execute the vision, including Joy ProctorNaomi DeManana and Gabrielle Hurwitz, I have a feeling you might just find your dream pair in the bunch.

(above) Love the beautiful Lisbeth pearl and ivory pumps

Today, while we are swooning over the premier of this Bella Belle Shoes editorial, Bella Belle is in Japan, launching its new collection exclusively at the largest department store: Isetan Shinjuku. To all our Japan-based brides, you can now see these gorgeous creations in person at Isetan Shinjuku from 13-19 February. Double congrats to Bella Belle!

More about the collection… Bella Belle’s latest shoe collection, Edelweiss, is inspired by the namesake flower grown in the Swiss mountain region. Rare and pure, Edelweiss symbolizes an everlasting love and undying devotion. Folklore has it that presenting your loved one with Edelweiss is a profession of an eternal love and lifetime devotion. The shoe collection features everlasting details, such as pearls and lace. You will also find delicate, white floral buds depicting the Edelweiss. The collection also highlights our devotion to our craft – creating shoes that make women feel stunning and comfortable in.

(above) A lace up beauty? Yep we are fawning over these Victorian Era Angelia booties.

Love and devotion stand the test of time. That is the message weaved in this magnificent editorial. To capture the essence of the collection and its sentimental symbolism, we commissioned the brilliant Laura Gordon behind the lens. She brought the concept to life with her exploration of light and shadow in each frame she composed, creating a sublime quality that’s hard to forget. Set in a century-old building with aging details, the backdrops convey the essence of the passing of time.

(above) A quintessential Bella Belle silhouette: the sheer Claudia heel with an ankle strap.

To evoke resilience and hope of an undying love, Naomi DeManana created lush blooming field of meadows against paint-chipped walls. The team from Facetime Beauty added a touch of youthfulness with glowy natural makeup and wind-swept hair. Romantic tulle and blossom-filled dresses envisioned by Gabrielle Hurwitz looked remarkably haunting against dilapidated chairs and other century-old elements. All the elements are brought to life through Joy Proctor’s masterful eye and touch. In the end, the Edelweiss shoe collection that represents love and devotion, is effortlessly translated in this editorial.

Classic + Elegant South Carolina Destination Wedding at Oldfield 1732

Say hello to the cutest Disney proposal ever… this Groom asked his Bride to be his forever in front of Cinderella’s Castle, while they were dressed up as, wait for it, Mary Poppins and Bert! I can feel the hearts popping right out of eyes over that one. It’s these kinds of love stories that make me love logging onto SMP every single day. The wedding that followed that sweet proposal is a Southern soiree planned by Intrigue Design & Events and snapped up by Simply Sarah, dripping in elegance. It’s practically perfect in every way, wink, wink.

From the Bride, Makenzie… Taylor and I were both living in Athens, GA for school when we met one night downtown at a bar. He asked me out on a date the very next day and we’ve been inseparable ever since. I remember thinking early on in our relationship that this was the man that I was going to marry. Fast forward two years later and Taylor surprised me with a trip to Disney World so that we could go to the Halloween party. He proposed to me in front of Cinderella’s Castle while we were dressed up as Mary Poppins and Bert.

I drew a lot of my inspiration from the venue itself and the beautiful outdoor area. Coastal South Carolina does outdoor weddings so well and Oldfield was stunning, it was fate! I’m a sucker for big trees with hanging moss so I knew when I saw the venue that we had to get married outside. I wanted the style to be soft and romantic – and to have a garden party feel.

One of our favorite moments from our wedding day was having our first look. Not only did we love getting to see each other all dressed up but it was also the first moment we were able to truly be in the moment and enjoy ourselves. When I saw Taylor, it made me forget about every worry. I was instantly calm and it made me realize how insanely happy I was to get to marry my best friend.

We would HIGHLY recommend Simply Sarah to other couples! We had the honor of having Sarah as our photographer and her husband, Will, as our second shooter. They are two of the sweetest people you will ever meet! Sarah immediately makes you feel at ease and you will have one less thing to worry about if you hire her. She was absolutely incredible from start to finish. She is professional, efficient, friendly and extremely talented! What I love most about her, is her attention to detail. Sarah is a great person to have as part of your special day and is clearly so passionate about what she does.

Intimate Destination Wedding at Ritz Carlton Penha Longa

If you’re anything like me, you’re fully celebrating the color pink this month (and maybe even possibly the whole year… I blame it on Pantone!). Although this fete from Dream Weddings Europe doesn’t have an ounce of our happy hue in the decor, it doesn’t need to, because the venue itself is pink—making way for plenty of photo opps for Amanda & Derick on their Big Day. atmosphere made sure to scope out all the breathtaking angles and this gallery is the pretty outcome.

From atmosphereAmanda & Derick came from Canada with their close family and friends to celebrate their intimate wedding in sunny Portugal. They chose the elegant Ritz Carlton Penha Longa Resort to host their celebrations. Penha Longa is situated in the mountains of Sintra, which composes the perfect intimate, yet chic atmosphere they wanted.

The unique pink 14th-Century Monastery was the perfect dreamy and romantic background for the celebration of friendship and love lived by Amanda & Derick that day. It was all about having fun and spending great, quality time with loved ones.

The dinner took place in the most cozy room, Sala dos Arcos (Arch Room), the former stables of the 14th-century monastery, where emotional speaks put happy tears in everyone’s eyes. The dances and party were followed at the the opulent Salão Nobre (Noble Room). It was a perfect day, just like their smiles translate.

Soft and Romantic Spring Wedding Inspiration

It’s official, Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow which means an early Spring is upon us! Well, at least we hope so!!  We just can’t wait to see tulips in full bloom at every turn and smell that fresh Spring air again. But until then, we’ll just be staring at this stunning inspiration shoot from Renee Hollingshead that satisfies all our Spring cravings. Emma Job from the Petal Report and Adriana Marie Events designed every inch of this gorgeous shoot, giving brides a modern yet ethereal take on the typical Spring wedding look.

From Emma Job from The Petal ReportThis intimate and inspirational editorial was focused to create a vision for couples that want to incorporate modern details mixed with an ethereal and refined authenticity for their nearest and dearest. Ambiance was crucial for the setting to show off the true feeling behind this vibe.

Crimson & Clover incorporated a mixture of tall candlesticks as well as pillar candles to add to the lighting throughout the space and popped some of their go-to spring blooms to soften the tablescape. The spring season was picked for this look as it to inspire those getting married in the year to come.

The spring season was picked for this look as it to inspire those getting married in the year to come. Our blushing bride, instead of having just a “something blue” we decided to incorporate the hue throughout her day. From the details within the paper goods, the delicate napkin tied across the dinner plates, to the tiny flowers popped in throughout the day, there was not a moment untouched by the shade. The modern paper touches are one of our favorite parts, paired with the soft edges of the china and natural linen textures throughout the space. A bit of personality from the “couple” in the ceremony runner to tell their full story, paired with the abundant greenery to fill the all white space of Prism for interested.

Behind the Scenes of a Floral Workshop by Myrtle et Olive in Tokyo

Flowers are my love language. I think in another life I owned a little bloom shop on a beach somewhere, or maybe that’s still to come in this life. Retirement plan? I like it. If I ever make that happen, I’ll surely be signing up for a workshop like this one, hosted by floral genius, Myrtle et Olive. Along with Megumi Maris to capture the event and Paper Tree Toyko at the planning seat, we’re getting a behind the scenes look into the turning gears of a bloom workshop and what it takes to craft the lovely images we all get heart-eyed over on the regular.

From Heather of Myrtle et OliveI often feel that photographers and florists have a lovely symbiotic relationship. Photographers are our companion, our teammate throughout the entire design experience. It takes a great team of like-minded artisans to create the most beautiful editorial.

My designs are often influenced by my surrounding environment and culture. I love to create something that’s an authentic and organic extension to the location. That’s when a great photographer comes into design formula – your work is only as beautiful as what you can artfully document. I can’t stress how important it is to communicate with your collaborating photographer. I always do a walkthrough together with my partnered photographer to determine the best location for set up and for lighting, to achieve the best photographic result for the design. I will always have a conversation with the photographer to create an ideal shoot list and to plan out the shoot schedule together to ensure that we can make the best use of time and light on the day of the event.

Photographers often inspire me with their vision as well, we work together to perfect the balance, proportion, and rhythm of pre-styled lifestyle shots. As a florist & creative director, I want to bring the best out of one’s photography style, hence I try to work with a floral palette that goes well with the photographer’s preferred brand hues, some might go for a more mature neutral tone and some might enjoy working with a more bold and bright palettes. Respecting each other’s advice and expertise will often take your work to the next level.

For our first workshop in Tokyo, I wanted to fuse aesthetics elements of Japanese and Western culture into my design concept. Japan is well known for its celebration of seasons, particularly in its food. I incorporated seasonal fresh ingredients such as fig and dried blood orange to compliment our floral, which are all locally grown in an abundance of fall tones. It is often said that Japanese dishes are a feast for the eyes as well as nourishment for the body, as each course is beautifully presented in a dish of a shape and color. We included this important cultural element in our tabletop styling.

From Megumi Maris PhotographyFor Myrtle et Olive’s workshop in Tokyo, we worked with tricky lighting because we did not get the rental space until late afternoon and the studio was shaded by buildings. There was also orange cast coming from indoor lighting as well. I used as much of the available natural light as possible and used a reflector when needed. Hence, the entire set up needed to be by the window, furthest away from the orange cast. We were limited with time and space, we only had 1.5 hours to shoot all of the styling portions of the workshop. However, with communication ahead of time and a great shoot list, our team was able to work beautifully together. Everything was perfectly orchestrated and it flowed so well together.

Romantic Fall Desert Wedding at El Chorro in Paradise Valley

I melt for a good groom-swooning-at-the-bride shot, and this wedding right here? It’s got a few sweet ones sprinkled throughout. Gahhh, can you even? I think we can all agree this duo is simply the cutest and when you pair them with details planned by A Day to Cherish Weddings & Celebrations and adorable guests like this, the result is a darling day that pulls you in. See the whole thing right this way.

From Benjamin Clifford PhotographyBeing a wedding photographer, it’s hard not to appreciate all the effort and care that goes into a spectacular wedding. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a stunning wedding at the beautiful El Chorro wedding venue. It was an excellent setting for such an occasion, nestled between the desert mountains of Paradise Valley, Arizona. My clients, Rebecca and Nathan, couldn’t have been more delighted by the natural beauty and luxurious treatment they received. The event was gorgeous from start to finish, and the memories preserved there will undoubtedly be remembered fondly by all who attended.

We managed to take a few photos of her alongside the lively desert fauna, creating a simply enchanting scene. The bridesmaids dressed in pale pink looked lovely together next to the bride, and we were able to get a few photos of them as well. After a few more shots of the groom looking his best and the couple finally together, we were ready to move on to the wedding ceremony. The event lawn was a spectacular venue with perfectly trimmed grass, white-blossomed trees, and the looming desert mountains in the distance. When Nathan and Rebecca were finally together on the event stage, hand-in-hand with solemn expressions, every seamlessly entwined element was finally in place. The couple walked away with brimming smiles. The following walk around the grounds allowed us several more romantic shots of them together freshly married. It was lovely to see them both bubbling from the excitement of their union. From there it was on to the Casa Paloma for the reception, showcasing the dazzling luxury El Chorro is known for. White, gold, crystal and blush adornments filled every table, with bouquets and candles to top it off. We finished with a series of shots of the couple’s first dance, taking to the floor in a wonderfully intimate moment while their friends and family looked on.

When it was all said and done, we managed to capture a fantastic set of stunning photos from the event. It was a wonderful day to be involved in, and one I’m sure won’t be forgotten.

A Bright Fall Wedding in Wine Country at Solage Calistoga

This happy wedding day at Solage Calistoga brings the spirit of Fall to whole new heights! Trust us, just one look at this wine country celebration from Rebecca Yale Photography and Simone Lennon Events will instantly brighten your day. Prepare to “ooh” and “aah” at Loop Flowers’ heavenly arrangements of brightly colored blooms in orange, pink and yellow hues. Top it all off with a knock-out Vera Wang gown and there you have it – we couldn’t be more in love with this golden beauty!

From Rebecca Yale This was a destination wedding for the bride and groom who came in from TX for an intimate wedding with their closest friends and family. Simone Lennon used the Fall landscape as inspiration and Loop Flowers created lush Fall inspired florals in tones of orange, pinks and yellows.

The bride wore an embellished Vera Wang gown, which she paired with heirloom jewelry including a pearl necklace the bride’s mom wore on her wedding day and a watch made into a cuff the grandmother wore on hers. The bride’s mother wore Carolina Herrera in robin egg’s blue to match the bridesmaids and also wore many heirloom jewelry pieces passed down from her mother who they honored with a photograph tied to the bouquet.

Yonder Design created an elegant white and gold invitation suite and save the date with a custom logo for the couple and letter pressed the pattern of the tablecloths on to the back of the suites and the envelopes were lined with a tan linen fabric.

Yonder created a slate bar menu using their same logo to show off their custom cocktails and printed letterpressed menus with hand calligraphed names at the top acting as place cards for the guests.

A whimsical element was brought to the day with the larger than life escort card display at the entrance with hand torn paper escort cards. Loop Flowers transformed the all white space with a large floral and light bulb installation over the dance floor which created a wow moment when everyone entered from cocktail hour.

A custom white dance floor was created to match the clean aesthetic and bright pops of florals lined the tables with orange velvet napkins and bowls with fresh pomegranates, figs and kumquats. Each place setting had a beautiful mini arrangement tied with ribbon sitting atop the menu, which was flanked with grey and gold flatware.

Classic Greece Wedding at Archontiko Riziko in Chios

When in doubt, go for a destination wedding! While you might be thinking a far-away-fete will be a challenge to plan, it’s so worth it. Especially when you turn your celebration into a week-long event like this Victoria and Peter did. With Joanna Loukaki guiding the planning process, the result was truly a day to remember. Thanks to Vasilis Kantarakis Films, we get to be virtual guests today. When you’re done enjoying the beautiful film, make sure to scroll through Nikos Gogas lovely images.

From Vasilis Kantarakis Films… Growing up, Victoria used to spend summers with her Italian family in a small town called Cervinara, right outside of Naples. It was while falling in love with Italy as a child that she began dreaming of a destination wedding. When she first met Peter, she had no idea she was falling in love with someone who had spent their childhood summers similarly. He would return each year to his parent’s birthplace and homeland, a small island called Chios off the mainland of Greece. When Peter and Victoria took their first trip together to visit Chios and then Cervinara, they knew that a destination wedding would be the best way to include all parts of their international families. So, they turned their destination wedding into a week long vacation for all their friends and family, and they couldn’t be happier with the celebration or each other.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/306649673 600 338]

From Joanna Loukakis, the planner… When we first visited together with Victoria and Peter the historic venue, we could see in their eyes it was their dream location! Set in the medieval Kampos area, the 1700’s estate has breathtaking views citrus groves in all directions. Beautiful organic and natural elements incorporated with tones of blue and a splash of gold, were some details of the romantic dinner scenery.
