A Contemporary Mountain Wedding at Keystone Resort in Colorado

If you ask us, the mountains and modern flair are a match made in wedding heaven. This jaw-droppingly attractive pair tied the knot at Keystone Resort in Colorado, where the bride grew up skiing every season with her family. The beautiful views are only matched by her stunning Moliere Bridal strapless gown and heavenly arrangements of white blooms from Ali Fortunato Botanics + Styling. Gibson Events designed the sun drenched reception complete with ghost chairs and elegant drapery. See all the wow-worthy moments captured by Brett Heidebrecht at the full gallery!

From Brett Heidebrecht PhotographyBrittan and John David met while attending the University of Oklahoma – Boomer Sooner! Mutual friends introduced them at the OU vs. Bama football game in New Orleans, and soon after the two were an item. Fast forward a couple of years to the couple living together in Oklahoma City. John David came up with a crafty (and scary!) way to propose to the love of his life.

John David pretended their chocolate lab, Fitzgerald, ran away. Frantic and in tears, Brittan was running around trying to find him when a random number called her cell phone saying they found the dog and to meet them in a field close by. Once she arrived, Fitzgerald sat there quite happy and safe with a sign around his neck that said, “Will you please marry my daddy?” Now happy tears and smiles, Brittan said, “Yes!” The two began planning their mountain top destination wedding in Keystone.

Brittan grew up skiing at Keystone with her family. So when it came time to choose a place to marry her best friend, it was the perfect place! The couple decided on a mountain chic feel for their wedding, with the gorgeous mountains as the wow factor. The day was accented with a palette of white, ivory and gold. Brittan trusted her planner, Gibson Events, and florist, Ali Fortunato, with the vision for her wedding and was so beyond happy with the results! They took her ideas and turned them into a gorgeous reality. Her vendor team totally transformed the reception space and took the couple’s breath away!

Brittan’s favorite moment shared with John David was their first look on top of Keystone Mountain. They rode up on the gondola separately and met on top of the deck. They were both nervous, but the moment their eyes locked, that melted away. They enjoyed that special moment together! The couple wanted to make sure their guests had an amazing dining experience. They served a plated dinner course starting with a mixed greens salad with candied walnuts and pears.

After the sorbet intermezzo, a duo of filet mignon and pan-seared salmon paired with parsnips, whipped potatoes and roasted vegetables ended the delicious meal. Brittan’s advice to couples, especially those planning mountain weddings… “Don’t stress about the weather, snow was in the forecast during my wedding week. It almost gave me a panic attack, but the day turned out to be 100% perfect, including the weather! Hire professionals to help you. It will take all the stress out of the wedding process – exactly how it should be!”

Intimate Charleston Celebration at Legare Waring House & Zero George Restaurant

From California to Charleston, this duo celebrated in classic Southern style and their wish is that “50 years from now we hope that our children and grandchildren will look back on our wedding photos and comment how classic the wedding location and attire were,” Pure Luxe BrideThe Happy Bloomand thanks to the help of their planner , I have a feeling this fete will be forever timeless. See the entire day in the gallery, all captured by .

From the planner, Pure Luxe BrideIntimate is the perfect word to describe Taylor + Jonathan’s elopement at the Legare Waring House. This sweet couple from California invited their closest friends and family for a true Charleston celebration. They chose to incorporate the Charleston skyline and oaks into their details as seen on the invitations and wax seal. After getting ready at Zero George, they hopped in a classic car and arrived to the venue in style. Guests found their seats for the ceremony with hand calligraphed sweet grass fans sitting on each pew. Sunlight was carefully seeping through the Spanish moss that hangs on the branches of the giant oak tree under which Jonathan and Taylor said their “I do’s”. Surrounded by less than 20 of their favorite people, everyone enjoyed a delicious catered meal together at a gorgeous white wash farm table for dinner. The table was accentuated with grey taper candles, lace plates, hemstitch napkins, and lush floral centerpieces in pale hues of bush, yellow, and ivories. Each detail was carefully curated to make sure each guest felt truly special.

From the bride, Taylor…

How was your wedding perfectly “Southern”?

The wedding was classically Southern, mostly due to the small details, not just the physical location in South Carolina. Whether it was the moss hanging from the massive live oak trees at sunset, the gentlemen enjoying bourbon and cigars after dinner, the antebellum architecture, the lace wedding dress, etc. Almost every important aspect of the wedding had some Southern feel to it, and the overall feeling of the wedding was oriented around family and a sense of Southern hospitality.

What was your vision for your wedding day? What made you choose certain colors or decor?

The vision for our wedding day was to have a timeless feel; 50 years from now we hope that our children and grandchildren will look back on our wedding photos and comment how classic the wedding location and attire were. We picked colors and decor that reflected a garden affair and the surrounding plantation grounds.

What is the moment you remember most about your wedding day?

I think the moment we remember most about our wedding day was standing under the live oak tree, holding hands, and reciting our vows; we both remember looking out and seeing how happy our families were, and we were so happy that it was the most perfect weather on the most perfect Spring day, and that there was nothing in the world that could have made that moment any more special than it was.

What’s next for you and your husband?

We will be moving from San Francisco to Washington, DC, in July (only a few weeks away!) Jonathan will be an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center, and I am looking to join a dental practice in the Virginia suburbs of DC.

9 Simple Tips For A Stress-Free Wedding Registry

Whether you’re perusing the internet to choose your registry items or clutching a scanner gun in the aisles of your favorite home store… registering for a wedding can be a stressful process. The idea sounds so fun, but when it really comes down to it – sometimes it feels like what you register for is just as big of a commitment as WHO you’re marrying! Well lucky for you, we totally get it. And we’re here to save you from all that unwanted registry shopping stress so you can actually enjoy this should-be-fun experience! Here are 9 simple tips that will help make registering an absolute breeze.

Getting ready to register? Check out our registry guide for more tips, links, and inspiration.

Be true to you
What’s your style? The whole point of your registry is to create a wish list for what you want to start your new life. It should reflect your own personal look and feel as a couple. Look through pictures together and talk about colors and patterns you both like. Discuss your entertaining priorities. Do you love to cook? What appliances will you actually use? Will you host family for the holidays? That gravy boat might seem superfluous now—until you consider the Thanksgiving meal you want to host in the future.

Take stock
One of the best ways to figure out what you need is to inventory what you already have. From that list, decide what you want to keep and what you want to upgrade with registry items. Now is a good time to update linens, flatware, and cookware, at least. Fill in the gap with three categories: what you need now, what you’ll need in five years, and heirloom pieces to pass down to your children. Need help figuring out essentials? Let Wayfair’s registry checklist be your guide!

Look for perks
Limit the number of registries to just a few stores or even one only store. A great way to decide where to register is to look for perks for both you and your guests. Consider benefits for your guests like online shopping and direct shipping. For example, Wayfair makes it SO easy for you to manage your registry and for your guests to order online! They offer free shipping, free returns, group gifting (major bonus!), completion discounts (an extra 10% off), a registry checklist for you to stay organized and SO much more!

Register early
You can (and should) start registering soon after you get engaged. It’s helpful for guests purchasing gifts for pre-wedding festivities, like an engagement party, bridal shower, etc. And you’ll get more items from your wish list. Win-win!

Visit in person
Don’t rely solely on pictures, it can be very beneficial for you to check out the product in person just to triple check that you love it! The items on your registry should reflect the quality and style you want in your home. The best way to guarantee you’ll love them is to see and compare in person. How else are you supposed to pick the perfect sheets?

Manifesto Photography

Make it a date
Marriage is all about compromise – and so is your registry. At the end of the day, the gifts are for both of you. Go register together to ensure you both get what you want. Take turns taking lead on areas you’re more passionate about. For instance, you might care more about the china, while he’s focused on the bedding. Celebrate a job well done with fun cocktails or a romantic dinner to cap the day.

Pick price options
It might be tempting to register for mostly high-priced items. It is a wish list, after all! But your registry should consider guests’ budgets. Vary the price points, so friends and family can all find options they can afford. Think about thresholds: under $50, under $100, under $200, etc.

Tracey Ayton

Set the table
Even if your apartment only holds six people and one dog, register for 8-12 complete place settings. Odds are at some point in your life, you’ll host a group dinner or a holiday celebration. And if your “fun uncle” accidentally breaks a salad plate, you’ll have a backup. Register for extra barware too. Wine glasses are notoriously fragile.

Add more items
Rule of thumb: the number of registry items should at least double your guest list. Again, people want options – especially if they’re buying multiple gifts for wedding and pre-wedding celebrations. Check back a few weeks before the wedding. If you’re running low on items, register for more as-needed. If you under-register, you might end up with presents you’ll never use. Or worse, gifts you don’t want and can’t return!

Ruth Eileen Photography

Bonus: Say Thank You!
Don’t forget the thank-you notes! Show your appreciation by writing and mailing your notes in a timely manner—two weeks for gifts received before the wedding and one month after your honeymoon for gifts received during or after.

Getting ready to register? Check out our registry guide for more tips, links, and inspiration.

Modern & Elegant Spring Wedding at Vibiana in Los Angeles

I’m not quite sure how I’ve made it all these years blogging for SMP and am just now experiencing this stunning Los Angeles venue, Vibiana. Babes, it. is. STUNNING. And it was the scene of this modernly elegant wedding from some of the best in the biz, Koman Photography, Simply Sera Events and Bloomwell & Co.. Trust me when I say you’ll lose a bit of time in this gallery, but it’s sooo worth it. Go, go!

From the Couple… We met in New York City and had been dating for less than a year when Jonathan proposed with a custom puzzle featuring a collage of pictures of us together as well as the final puzzle piece with the words “Will you marry me” in the corner. Now hat we decided that we wanted to be married, then came the tough part of putting it all together. Both of us live in New York but we planned on getting married in Southern California, where both of our families are.

The whole wedding planning process was overwhelming and we knew that in planning a long distance wedding we would need someone we could trust to come up with the big picture vision and also execute all the small details. A friend connected us to Sera Kang of Simply Sera Events, who worked with us every step of the way from venue hunting, the design process, and day-of-coordination. From the beginning, Sera took the time to really get to know us and build out a design vision that was completely us. We flew out to California to look for a wedding venue and once we saw Vibiana we knew that it was the one.

Vibiana was originally a cathedral built in the late 1800s and had the most beautiful architecture. As soon as you walked in, you felt that the space was both grand and warm at the same time and since it was a blank canvas we knew that once Sera worked her magic it would be perfect. For the overall vision, Sera went with an elegant and classy design pairing modern elements like marble with timeless and rustic elements like wax seals and lush greenery. For the palette, she layered navy blue and gold to the french blue and gray palette to add richness and since our wedding was in August, she added some colors like mustard yellow and pink hues for pops of colors for the season.

We both avoid being in photos and tend to be awkward in front of the camera, so we knew that when choosing a wedding photographer, they would have their work cut out for them. Sera referred us to Marlene and John Koman and in addition to loving their natural shooting style, they helped us feel at ease in front of the camera and somehow made us look comfortable and happy! The day of the wedding was the first time we saw everything come together, and wow was it worth it! Sera’s team executed everything perfectly and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Marlene & John captured all the important moments from the wedding, including the ones we didn’t get to see, and we are so happy with how they turned out.

We had the most amazing live band from Downbeat LA that got everyone dancing, and the band members even joined us on the dance floor to keep the party going. Allie’s team from Bloomwell & Co decorated the entire venue with the most gorgeous florals, and there were little touches everywhere you looked – gold & blue flatware, gold acrylic name cards, and live water color portraits as favors that really took our wedding to the next level. Overall, we were absolutely blessed with such an amazing team that made our perfect wedding even better than we could have ever imagined.

Classic Blue & White Wedding at The Woodmark Hotel

Sarah & Pat’s love story goes way back to when they were just wee babes! From baptismal school to grade school, high school and college, they are “school sweethearts” in every sense of the phrase—making their wedding day a long time coming. They recruited the team at Valley & Company Events to bring their classic vision to life, complete with something (french) blue woven in. Lora Grady captured it all, right this way.

From Valley & Company Events Sarah and Pat first met as infants in baptismal school and then went on to attend grade school together, high school, and college, so their wedding day was full of family and thoughtful touches years in the making. Bride Sarah envisioned a perfectly classic wedding day steeped in tradition with a church ceremony, cathedral veil, and romantic details through greenery and white flowers that spoke to her timeless style, peppered with bits of fun. Their guests exited the gorgeous church ceremony with bags of petals and gave them the most lively farewell we’ve ever seen – 200+ guests lined the stairs for the picture-perfect moment that’s one for the books. Despite it being a drizzly September evening on the water, you wouldn’t have guessed it as our reception tent was decked out in all-white flowers, French blue linens, white chivari chairs, and gauzy draping that made the tent feel so intimate, despite the larger guest count. The icing on the wedding day was probably the delivery of Dick’s Drive-In cheeseburgers and fries, a Seattle staple! Nothing like seeing guests dancing in tuxes noshing on their favorite guilty pleasure!

Tented Pennsylvania Wedding at Rooke Chapel at Bucknell University & One Barn Farm

For these college sweethearts—hosting their wedding at Bucknell University, back where it all began—only seemed fitting. Their day commenced with a sweet ceremony at Rooke Chapel, followed by a tented reception at One Barn Farm. Every classic detail, planned with the help of Michelle Elaine Weddings, and captured by Dreamlove Wedding Photography made for a charm-filled day. NST Pictures documented all the love, and trust me when I say this is a must-see video… I may or may not have grabbed the Kleenex over the vows! And — be sure to join in the toast… sláinte!

[iframe https://player.vimeo.com/video/292772671 600 250]

From Michelle Elaine WeddingsHaving met back in college at Bucknell University, Meg and Christian saw no better place to host their perfect day than back where it all began. As a former Bucknell swimmer, the perfect location for the men to get ready was the locker room where Christian and his groomsmen used to spend a lot of time before and after swim practice. The Bride got ready at a beautiful rental home right on Bucknell’s golf course. Guests arrived on campus at Rooke Chapel just in time to watch the groom and his groomsmen be led to the chapel by bagpipes. It was really quite romantic. The ceremony was perfect and heart-felt and once concluded, the happy couple went off to take photos around campus. One area that was important to them was the Christy Mathewson Gates. To the students, these gates represent their entrance into and exit from the University as you only walk through them on your very first and very last day at Bucknell. After a ton of fun wedding party photos, everyone hopped in the trolley and headed to One Barn Farm, a beautifully elegant estate seated at the base of rolling Pennsylvania mountains in Union County. The cocktail hour was held in the historic Bank Barn and surrounding lawn, equipped with corn hole and other lawn games. At the end of the cocktail hour, guests were ushered from the Barn to the sail-cloth Sperry tent by a super fun brass-band second line for the dinner and dancing. The Bride and Groom led the way as everyone danced and followed down to the tent. Lawn games, an amazing band, decor for days and those breathtaking views, add in the most fun crowd you will ever see, and it was truly the “wedding of the century!”

An Industrial Chic Wedding at the Horticulture Building

When an industrial wedding venue comes to life with greenery, blooms and candlelight – the result is truly magical… and todays wedding planned by Toast Events and captured by Laura Kelly Photography is the perfect example of just that. The bride looked like a fairytale princess in her whimsical Hayley Paige ballgown and matching tiara. Arrangements by Wedecor abundant with fluffy white peonies and greenery stole our hearts and stole the show at the reception. The most special part of this whole day? An excerpt of the bride’s unapologetically honest and undeniably romantic vows. Read on below…

From the Planner, Toast Events… She didn’t know it yet. But I knew that what was about to happen, was the beginning of the rest of her life. Zach was proposing and I was right behind him hiding in a bush. Even though we had planned their proposal, I had never actually met either of them. Fast forward 2 years, there she stood in-front of the church doors just about to walk down the aisle with her veil blowing in the wind. In that moment I truly felt privileged to have been the wind beneath her wings, always in the background gently guiding her to this very day. Brittany & Zach sealed their vows in the Basilica Notre-Dame followed by their reception in the Horticulture Building. Minimalistic, effortless and free of overly fussy details was the underlining decor principles. Brittany took special care in investing in the best of what she loved while trusting her vendors to take her wedding from what she envisioned to something which was more beautiful than she could have ever expected.

From the photographer, Laura Kelly Photography… I knew her love for her friends and family through getting to know them over the course of our friendship. It is no secret that everyone who knows Brittany wishes that they were a member of the Dinardo family. Her words were from the heart. And each sentiment held more meaning than perhaps any of us could even understand.

“It is our relationships that makes the world around us significant and meaningful. I believe that with my whole heart, that the people in this room make my life, make OUR life, what it is. We are blessed. We are so loved. And it is thanks to all of you.”

I’ve gotten to know that sentimental side of Brittany over the years. The incredibly kind-hearted, strong person who loves so deeply. And yet for some reason I couldn’t imagine the words she would use for Zach. Their relationship is unlike any I’ve ever known; as strong and consistent as a ten foot wave, but never fluffy, never coated with glitter. She’s more likely to roll her eyes rather than swoon… They are the definition of opposites who make each other better. A yin and yang in perfect harmony. Always improving. Always thriving. I couldn’t picture the moment where she would turn to face her new husband, Zach. And to be honest, I’m glad I never pictured it. Because it was better than anything I could have ever imagined. It was Brittany in a way that we all knew and loved her. It was my favourite moment of the entire day.

“Zach, I am not often nice to you in an obvious way. I don’t always love you publicly. But I truly love you more than I like to say out loud. You are a calming force in my hectic life. Thank you for building this life with me that I love so much. Thank you for always loving me. I’ll love you forever.”

From the Bride… Our wedding day was magical from start to finish! We couldn’t have been happier with everything, from the ceremony at the cathedral where my parents were married over 30 years ago, to the absolutely stunning reception put together by Elise and her team at Toast Events. I’d had my eye on Ottawa’s Horticulture Building for several years, but had no idea how to transform its big open space into our dream wedding reception. Elise and our wonderful group of vendors executed flawlessly, and walking into the building right before cocktail hour was an experience I’ll never forget. The love and happiness that Zach and I felt at our wedding was overwhelming. Sharing amazing food, drinks, dancing and conversation with our very favourite people on that beautiful day in June is a memory that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Colorful Fall Celebration at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs, Texas

Where do I begin with this sweet, sweet celebration… well, 30 seconds into the film from Purely Ruined Studios is a good start. Or, the colorful details designed by Westcott Weddings. Or, the grand surprise from the Bride’s parents during the reception: a personalized video recording from NEEDTOBREATHE of the song “Clear” that she walked down the aisle to. That should give you a clear view of how incredibly beautiful this day was. See it all captured by Brittany Jean below.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/294832068 600 338]

From the bride, Megan Mancini… Before ever visiting in person, I knew Camp Lucy was one of the most beautiful places to get married just by the pictures. Our families both value the opportunity to all stay together, so the onsite lodging was definitely a main reason for hosting our wedding weekend there. Camp Lucy is not only a wedding venue, but a Hill Country resort with an excellent restaurant and extremely high-end luxury lodging that made it feel like a vacation for our family and wedding parties. Once Jacob and I saw the magnificent stone arch and the view of the Texas Hill Country, we both knew this is where we wanted to tie the knot. There was no other wedding venue that compared. From the architecture to the mature landscape, it had everything we could have wanted and more!! It was truly the most romantic place in the world!

My inspiration for our day mainly revolved around whimsical romance with bright colors mixed with fall tones. The main accent color was dusty blue! My favorite memories mainly come from our ceremony. The sweet, raw emotion from my new husband and the heartfelt vows we spoke to one another is something I will never forget: “all I am I give to you, all I have I share with you” — we still say this to one another almost every week. Another sweet memory was our grand surprise from my parents during the reception: a personalized video recording from NEEDTOBREATHE of the song “Clear” that I walked down the aisle to. This song means so much to me and Jacob and we were dumbfounded when we heard the band personally congratulating “Jacob and Megan” on our wedding day! How special! Lastly, the entire night, we danced our hearts out with all of our close friends and family!

The florals were one of my favorite details of our day! They were carefully designed with each color in mind (and my favorite part of the planning process). Also, the table assignments board by Boarding School Collective was an extremely well-done artistic installation that left guests gawking. BSC also created a large DJ backdrop for the reception using the same floral print from our invitations. The swanky lounge furniture in the reception space was another favorite—I loved having the vintage set to create a homey, warm feel. Lastly, the Sperry tent for dinner was so grand and romantic—we added some bistro lights and it created the most incredible ambiance.

My advice for brides and grooms who are planning right now: Don’t let the details overwhelm you. Take time to remember the excitement of getting engaged and WHY you were so excited when he popped the question. Let that be carried with you throughout the planning process to keep you centered on the main thing. Also, gather a team of vendors you truly trust — you’ll be able to enjoy your day that much more knowing the work is getting done exactly how you envisioned!

Lastly, don’t forget to hug your parents! It’s a big day for them, too!! Also, make sure you are sharing a room with your biggest cheerleaders the night before your wedding. Waking up to your positive, affirming, joyful friends will help the day start off feeling like a party!

A Romantic Poolside Wedding at Casale del Gallo

Intimate destination weddings will always be a good idea. Let this poolside celebration captured by Peter & Veronika in Rome’s countryside at Casale del Gallo be your proof! There’s just nothing more romantic than exchanging vows in front of a small group of your absolute closest friends and family – especially when you’re tying the knot in a place as romantic and special as Italy. Keep on reading to see the magic of this day unfold…

From Bride and Groom… We met at the University of Alabama nearly 6.5 years ago, the connection was immediate. After school, we landed in New York City pursuing our dreams. When deciding to settle down, we then moved back to Erin’s hometown of Nashville, TN.

After the engagement, we toured all of the usual venues in and around Nashville but nothing felt quite right. At the time, Erin was sourcing leather for her handbag line, ELT Collective, and an idea started brewing – We threw out a curveball: a destination wedding in the countryside outside of Rome.

We wanted a memorable experience to remember for us and our guests. Nestled along the Apian Way, we contacted Guilio at Casale Del Gallo—a fourth-generation Roman countryside estate as our destination wedding venue. After carefully weighing the pros and cons, our decision was made and we were off to the races!

Joined by our closest friends and family, the Christie-Thompson wedding party of merely 31 guests made the trek to Rome for four nights of traditional Italian culture. We spent time exploring the natural beauty of the richly historical family property – complete with olive tree groves, swimming pools, pizza ovens, local vineyards and a public golf course. Other days were spent in the heart of this historic city, navigating the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican City.

The wedding day was spent cooking and enjoying an Italian brunch and lounging by the pool with friends. In the golden hour, we moved to the front of the house for the ceremony. Under a gorgeous floral and greenery arch, we said “I do” with one of my closest childhood friends as Officiant. I wore a custom-made, hand-tailored Italian Wool suit by Hickey Freeman. Erin combined two dresses from Lela Rose; she wore the “Desert Gown” for the cocktail hour and added the cape from her “Cape Gown” for the ceremony.

As the sun set on the country hills, we gathered in the gardens for an antipasti cocktail hour featuring an array of local meats, cheeses and wines. The music began to play as we moved to the gardens for dinner. The harvest moon rose high as we shared our first dance to Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon,” with the band’s Italian twist. We enjoyed a traditional Italian five-course meal, all cooked in the kitchens on site, including two homemade pastas. The table was dressed with whimsical olive branches, candles and white and pink garden roses. As the night wore on, we floated between the dance floor and the table, enjoying great company and great wine… all we could ask for!

Quaint Chapel Hill Wedding at The Parlour at Mann’s Chapel

As hard as it can be to cull down a guest list, intimate weddings are sooo worth it if you want to truly interact with every guest celebrating your Big Day with you. Call me biased (I had less than 80!), but I think today’s Bride & Groom, Heather & Michael, have the right idea. With Kast Events & Company to help plan every cherished moment, they were able create a beautiful experience for their friends and family. Photographers, Ally and Bobby were also on the guest list and we’ve got the pretty documentation right here.

From the photographers, Ally and BobbyHeather and Michael were married in a quaint white chapel tucked away in the countryside of North Carolina. The joy in the air was tangible on that summer day! With less than 75 guests, they had an intimate celebration with their closest friends and family.

From the Bride… Michael and I both wanted to keep our wedding smaller and intimate with a meaningful venue that also incorporated the outdoors. We booked the sweet vintage chapel which was originally built in the 1800’s and renovated a couple of years before our wedding. It was just the right size, allowing less than 100 guests and incorporating a beautiful outdoor space. Additionally, the women who restored the chapel maintained many original details from the original church, including the pews and signage, which was special to see displayed. Since the space is so gorgeous, we wanted to incorporate greenery, and a classic color palette to highlight the natural beauty of the space.

We wanted our guests to feel loved and taken care of, much like they have loved and taken care of us, so we prioritized good food, drinks, and a fun ambiance. Choosing a fun and entertaining dj coupled with an interactive photo booth during the reception were additions that guests commented on how much they enjoyed all night. Almost 80% of our guests were traveling from out of town, so we wanted them to be able to enjoy themselves as we said I do!

From our venue, down to the florals, we chose to support mostly small local vendors with big hearts and personalities. We love supporting local businesses and wanted to continue that trend for our wedding as well. We also wanted to include as many friends as possible into our wedding day. One of our dearest friends officiated the wedding, another serenaded us as we walked down the aisle, and two of the bride’s former students were her flower girls. Our bridal party was intentionally small as well to include our most loved best friends and siblings. Heather wanted each bridesmaids to choose their own dress to complement their individual style and personality. While staying within a shades of blush color palate, their choices complemented one another and turned out better than she could have imagined.

The day was a whirlwind, so we were glad that we chose to have a first look and take a moment to see each other, calm some nerves, and be together without all of our guests, to share a quiet moment before the ceremony started. After much debate we decided to write our own vows to be read to one another during the ceremony, which was our favorite part of the entire day. Being able to use our own words to express our love to one another in the presence of our family and loved ones was such a special moment.

From our appetizers that paid homage to Michael’s southern heritage, to the florists incorporating all the bride’s favorite florals into her bouquet, everything felt like us. We included portraits of our parents’ and grandparents’ wedding days and used the bride’s late grandmother’s chalkboard to highlight how important our families are to us. The bride’s father even brought their beloved 12-year-old lab, Madison, to take pictures and enjoy an al fresco dinner under the market lights. The forecast leading up to the wedding was a downpour all day, so we were immensely grateful when the day was filled with sunshine and warmth. Our wedding will forever be a favorite memory of ours and we are so grateful to everyone who was a part of our day.

Intimate Wedding at Volcan Weddings Manor in the Heart of Santorini

If ever there were a wedding destination that wins the award for view wow-factor, it’s got to be Santorini. That scenery simply stuns and has been the backdrop for so many fetes we’ve featured—including today’s, planned by Stella & Moscha. It’s intimate, uber romantic and if you’ve been considering this location, you might want to have a look at the full gallery from George Pahountis.

[iframe https://player.vimeo.com/video/321057927 600 338]

From Stella & MoschaWe are head over heels with this modern wedding full of blush details and we are so happy that we are able to re-introduce to the world the beautiful Volcan Weddings Manor in the heart of Santorini. Big bonus is Melissa and Sean, our beautiful bride and groom, who are so striking that we are certain you will not be able to stop looking at their close-ups by the, always flawless, George Pahountis.

From the Bride… For Shits and Giggles. How many stories start with that line? None that come to mind; but ours does. Our story begins in the most unusual of ways, neither one of us looking for what we would eventually find. It started off as a casual first date over wine and food and lasted hours. We talked and laughed and intrigue grew with the first kiss. Within the first 6 months of dating, we had already met each others family. That’s when the trouble began. That trouble was the kind of love that starts deep inside of one’s soul with no rhyme or reason. It led us to explore different adventures together. From our journeys near and far to our fateful trip to Hawai’i, we have one of many more adventures that will last a lifetime. With many undiscovered roads still left to explore we will begin our quest in Greece surrounded by the people we hold most dear: our family and friends. Without them we wouldn’t be who we are individually or who we are together and we are grateful for each one of you and the roles that you have played in our lives.

For our celebration, we had been looking at wedding venues in San Francisco and they were just getting too expensive and didn’t fit what I had in mind. We wanted the wedding to be a vacation for all of our family and friends and Greece was definitely on our bucket list of places to go. We decided to take a break from looking at venues because the holidays were coming up. On my way back east for the holidays, I picked up a couple of bridal magazines at the airport and flipped through an ad of a couple from what looked like the streets of Greece and I knew that’s where I wanted to get married. As soon as I landed, I called Sean and told him my idea and he said, “Let’s do it!” I told my family and friends when I arrived home and they all said of course we’ll be there. It was a truly special day with our loved ones.

A Glamorous White on White Affair at Vail Wedding Deck

In case you had any doubts, this all-white modern affair planned by Bello & Blue Events and captured by Lauren Fair proves mountain weddings can be oh-sooo chic. From the blooming arrangements of lush hydrangea and elegant orchids to the sophisticated bridesmaid gang dressed to the nines in all white – this day is everything and more. Peep the bride’s red Loubatin soles gifted by her hubby. To sum things up, if Carrie Bradshaw tied the knot in the Colorado rockies… it might look a little something like this!

From Bello & Blue EventsIs there anything better than a timeless white wedding? When Rachel & Mark came to us, they knew from the very beginning that they had a vision of classic glamour and a palette of white against a breathtaking mountain backdrop. With our aesthetics already perfectly aligned, were thrilled to help bring their vision to life, and loved every step of the process planning and designing with this drop dead gorgeous couple!

Check out this gorgeous film of Rachel and Mark’s wedding day from Elysium Productions! [iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/312147293 600 338]

Hailing originally from Louisiana, and sharing the most adorable Southern accents, these high school sweethearts eventually moved to Denver for career opportunities and fell in love with the mountains. Though their professions eventually relocated them to Kansas City, after Mark proposed (on a dreamy family beach vacation in Cozumel) they instantly knew Colorado was the ideal destination for “I Do”. This gorgeous duo settled on the perfect venue pairing for their celebration in Vail, Colorado- a mountain top ceremony at the top of the gondola overlooking the Rockies, followed by a chic, tented reception at the brand new Hotel Talisa. Within the spectacular presidential suite, Rachel and her ladies from all different stages of life enjoyed the best morning with her Grandma’s homemade Biscuits & Gravy, fresh fruit, and champagne. One of the brides favorite parts of the day was spending this time prepping with the ladies she loves the most, all in one room.

While enjoying this time getting ready for the day, Rachel received a surprise gift from her sweet groom, a stunning pair of crystal Christian Louboutins she had been eyeing with the cutest card from Mark. Meanwhile, the guys sipped whiskey and told stories as they prepped and dressed for the day, and we love that Mark opted for a dapper white dinner jacket to stand out amongst his 12 stylish groomsmen. With everyone dressed to impress, they loaded the gondola to get to the top of the mountain and the most epic view for Rachael & Mark’s nuptials. Surrounded by their favorites, these two said their vows and committed themselves in the most special ceremony performed by Pastor Tim of the Vail Interfaith Chapel. A live painter was there, a special gift from the mother of the groom to capture the magic of the ceremony and the breathtaking view. The artist later transferred to the reception with guests to complete the painting- a fun interactive detail as guests marveled at the masterpiece coming to life!

While the weather is always unpredictable at such high altitude (a crazy hail & wind storm blew through just before, and right after the ceremony!), miraculously, the heavens opened and the storm passed and everything turned out absolutely perfect for this sweet mountain ceremony and delightful cocktail hour over looking the Gore Creek on the Hotel Talisa Terrace. Following cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres with the best possible mountain views, guests were welcomed into the tent through a glowing candlelit path, and greeted with champagne to toast the happy couple and kick off the most wonderful evening. Rachael & Mark’s friends and family enjoyed a delicious menu featuring the couples most loved comfort food, an impressive carving station and a crowd pleasing Mac & Cheese display. But if these two had it their way, they would had dessert first! One of Rachael & Mark’s favorite things to share together are sweet treats, so a fittingly indulgent dessert table piled high with cake pops (made by the family of the bride), white buttercream cupcakes, VooDoo Donuts (famous in Denver!) and the most stunning white cake (baked with love by a friend of the couple who just so happens to own a successful bakery in Aspen), offered something for everyone as the night continued. “Go right ahead, have another!” was hand lettered on a large mirror near the table, a quote straight from the groom’s mouth and a saying for which he is known.

The most amazing band, Lost Wax, took their act on the road, bringing a bit of Rachael & Mark’s Kansas City home to their big day in the mountains. The bride and groom danced to “You and Me” by Dave Matthews to kick off the evening, and the party rocked all night long! Rachel loves to take photos and document all of life’s moments, so a polaroid guest book was an easy choice- guests posed in front of a fun back drop with a neon LOVE sign, and pasted their snaps in the book pages with notes for the bride and groom to enjoy for years to come. The tent decor was carefully selected with the help of Lindsey from Bello & Blue Events to ensure that everything felt clean, modern, glam, and WHITE! Bello & Blue provided the florals for the day, and there was no shortage of gorgeous white arrangements, crystal candelabras, and impressive greenery and white floral chandeliers dripping in the tent to set the tone for this fabulous black tie affair. Lighting highlighted the look with floral patterns projected on the ceiling, and the couple’s monogram projected on their all white dance floor. At the end of the evening, radiating the most beautiful glow after the most wonderful celebration, as Rachael & Mark ran to their honeymoon suite, they were showered with white rose petals and love as their guests wished them a happily ever after!

This Ryland Inn Coach House Wedding Has Blooms from the Bride’s Own Flower Farm!

There are lots of details tucked in this fete from Michelle Lange, but you will soon see that the most apparent (and most meaningful) are the beautiful blooms that grace every corner. With Twisted Willow Flowers to help see out her vision, the Bride made sure that florals took center stage for their celebration—even including some from Griffith Hill Farm, a flower farm she started with her mother last year. Yes, the Bride owns a flower farm! #bloomgoals See more here in the full gallery.

From the Bride… We are both the youngest in our families, so when we envisioned our wedding, we really saw it as the last opportunity to throw one big party with all of our family and friends! That vision really impacted all of the decisions me made. When looking at venues, we were really drawn to ones that offered both a ceremony site and reception area for convenience. When choosing a band, we knew we wanted one that would get everyone out on the dance floor.

We knew that we wanted our wedding to have a relaxed feel, and we tried to pick a color palette that would reflect that. We began by choosing our bridesmaids and groomsmen colors, a grey/blue for the bridesmaids and navy for the groomsmen. We also wanted a garden-like feel, so we chose the lawn area for our ceremony and tried to bring in greenery in as many places as possible—invitations, menus, the fireplace, the details on the chandeliers, and the seating chart. For flower colors, I initially only wanted white flowers, but with the encouragement of my florist, Twisted Willow Flowers, we opened up the color palette to include more neutral, Earthy tones like blush, cream, mauve and taupe. I was so happy that I listened to my florist and thought that the unique colors added an unexpected tone to the entire color scheme.

The most unique aspect of our wedding were the flowers. Last year, my mom and I started Griffith Hill Farm, a flower farm at my parent’s house in Pennsylvania. I was lucky enough that our florist was willing and excited to include some of our flowers, so my parents spent the days before our wedding cutting stems. Lidia incorporated them all throughout the venue, and it was like one surprise after another on our wedding day. From receiving my bridal bouquet and seeing our dahlias and cosmos scattered throughout, to spotting our hydrangeas for the first time as I walked down the aisle, I couldn’t stop smiling.

We also had one of my best friends and bridesmaids officiate the ceremony, and she was the perfect choice. She had all of our friends and family laughing and delivered the perfect balance of light-heartedness and sincerity. It was all we could have ever asked for.

Our favorite moment happened when our coordinator quickly pulled us into the reception area to give us a glimpse of the room before they opened the doors. We stayed on the property so we had been peeking at the setup all day, but it was amazing to finally see everything pulled together. The band starting playing a preview of our first dance song, and it was nice to share in a private, calm moment before the reception. When they were done, we were so excited to fill the room with everyone we love!

Our favorite crafted detail was our seating chart. Our florist went above and beyond, and she took my request for lots of greenery to the next level. When you see guests taking pictures in front of a seating chart, you know it was well done!

I chose a dress by Alexandra Grecco that I picked out at Lovely Bride in New York City. I realized that I wanted something simple and elegant so my flowers could be more of the statement. I worked with a local tailor to get the fit just right, and she even added buttons down the back, which I loved!

We are big fans of late night snacks, so for our party favors, we brought in a taco truck at the end of the night so everyone could indulge in a snack before they left (or to gear up for the after party!).

An Intimate and Classic Garden Wedding at La Venta Inn

Sometimes we come across weddings that truly make our hearts skip a beat – today’s wedding was definitely one of them. Greenwood Events planned and designed the most beautiful day at La Venta Inn that was equal parts classic and cool. The bride stunned in a long sleeve Grace Loves Lace wedding dress and held a bouquet entirely made of olive branches (obsessed!!) Jeremiah and Rachel Photography was there to capture every magical moment that left us speechless. Just WAIT ‘till you see these adorable flower girls. Y’all better sit down for the one because you might be here awhile…

From Jeremiah and Rachel Photography... Kate and Ross had a beautifully intimate wedding at the stunning La Venta Inn in Palos Verdes Estates in Southern California. It was important for them to keep things relaxed, friendly and timeless. Therefore, Greenwood Events was their choice and a perfect fit to plan, produce and design their special weekend. Perfect for this fun loving, adventurous couple!

Darci from Greenwood Events channelled Kate’s California cool vibe with a perfect blend of timeless elegance. Inspired by the location’s Spanish tile motif, neutrals were the starting point with pops of blue throughout. West Pasture Studio designed the invitation suite, using hand painted Spanish tiles as accents.

Welcome baskets were custom designed for the guests with little touches of California, including wine, grapes, spiced nuts and cookies, with a welcome note by Wiley Valentine. The florals, also designed by Greenwood Events, were lush and elegant. Full of fluffy white peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, and a mix of textural greens.

Darci worked with The Ark Event Rentals and Theoni Collection to create a stunning reception space, including luxurious soft seating to create a cozy atmosphere. In true southern California fashion, we had a gorgeously sunny day. Ross’ adorable daughter, Cara and Kate’s niece, helped Kate put on her heels, and Kate gave Cara a matching Tiffany’s bracelet. It was a sweet moment right before the ceremony.

Guests were greeted by classic guitar playing from Chris Fossek, and after dinner, the party got really started when Soultones took the stage. The day was full of laughter, fun, the joining of two sweet families in a warm inviting space and obviously lots of love. We also had the pleasure of creating a Super 8 film for this sweet couple, that really shows the joyful emotions of the day!

From Corrina WalkerEvery epic love story begins with a blossoming friendship, a early bond that develops over time from admiration and respect to all-encompassing love. For Julianne Young and Kristian Wieclawek, that strong foundation was purely evident on their beautiful winter wedding day. With the pearly peaks of the Rocky Mountains as their backdrop, the wedding of these two soul mates was the epitome of elegant romance and heartfelt joy.

Draped in an ivory crepe Pronovias gown with illusion lace and custom cathedral veil by Daphne Newman Designs, Julianne was a vision and the perfect timeless bride, her smile radiating every room she walked in. Her groom, suited in a white tie tuxedo, looked every bit the part of a handsome and proud husband to-be. As a wedding planner herself in Canada, Julianne had a clear vision of the wedding day design—a clean white palette with dove grey and greenery accents. The timelessness and attention to detail that epitomizes the essence of her brand was clearly evident throughout; from the whimsy ceremony altar arrangement of vines and roses set against the iconic stone fireplace in the Victoria Ballroom, the 4-tiered ivory buttercream wedding cake with creeping clematis and jasmine vine, the handsomely attired black-tuxedo clad groomsmen to the choreographed first dance to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’.

This formal affair—a modern secret garden set amidst the pristine Lake Louise in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, was nothing short of perfection. Filled with amazing food, incredible entertainment and abundant love, this day made everyone in attendance proud to honour and celebrate this special couple.

From the Bride… Our wedding was a winter paradise in Canada, at the iconic venue Chateau Lake Louise. There was a record snowfall that weekend, which made for a gorgeous snow covered lake & trees for pictures, with the sun still shining on the icy mountains. We had a wedding for 150 of our closest friends & family, with a ceremony in front of the fireplace & beautiful floral/greenery backdrop. My gown was a classic style Pronovias paired with my favourite detail of the wedding, my cathedral length veil, custom made by Daphne Newman Design. This piece was very important to me because I want this to be an heirloom; Since my own parents eloped, I wanted something to hand down to my kids for generations to come.

My fiance proposed to me while trail running in Banff (this was featured on Martha Stewart last year on Valentine’s day) and we incorporated the fine art and mountain elegance feel into every detail of the wedding. My favourite part of the wedding day was our first look & ceremony. We wrote very special vows to each other, and at our first look, I met Kristian at our ceremony before the guests arrived and pinned on his boutonniere. As I am also a professional wedding planner, me pinning the boutonniere on my groom was a very special moment for us.
