A Beautiful Blue and Cream Mountain Wedding at Suncadia Resort

Today, we’re sweeping you away to the mountains of Washington for a classic, intimate wedding captured by O’Malley Photographers with styling + planning by Bridal Bliss and floral design from Kaleb Norman James Design. A ceremony design unlike any other and a color palette that perfectly accents the natural scenery of the mountains – you better believe this wedding is going to absolutely take your breath away! Take it all in here…

From O’Malley PhotographersThis fun and intimate wedding took place in the lush mountains of Washington, overlooking the gorgeous PNW landscape of lakes, mountains and streams. It was the most beautiful setting to tie the knot!

Kaleb, of Kaleb Norman James Design, pulled together Patrick and Caitlin’s vision of getting married at a significant spot to the couple (the grooms family owns a home in the resort) and incorporating the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The blues, greys, creams, and greenery that made up the couples color palette perfectly accented the surrounding environment of evergreen trees and deep blue rivers.

With the help of Molly from Bridal Bliss, the couple planned the perfect weekend getaway where their friends and family enjoyed golfing, wine tasting, spas and of course, got to celebrate the union of two wonderful people at the end!

Patrick and Caitlin’s stunning wedding day in the mountains was one we won’t soon forget!

A Gorgeous Mount Hope Farm Wedding Inspired by French Country Décor

Whimsical elegance, seaside romance and New England charm… these are just a few ways to describe this stunning Rhode Island affair captured by the always amazing Sally Pinera and planned by the ever so talented Exquisite Events Design. Trust us, you’ll immediately fall in love with this wedding just like we have! From the bride’s contagious smile and gorgeous gown to the fairytale tented reception covered in heavenly blooms by Flowers by Semia in lavender, cream, misty blue and sandy hues. Don’t miss out on the beautiful words from the bride that will truly make you feel like you were a guest at this gorgeous wedding day! Reveal all the magical details below…

From the Bride, Sierra…Throughout our planning process there was a consistent theme regarding the feel and aesthetic of our wedding – whimsical and elegant. We chose to have just over a 2 year engagement, this was intentional, we wanted to enjoy the planning process and we wanted no detail to go unnoticed. Our décor was rustic elegance. I believe we struck an interesting balance of a New England, seaside setting, with our venue being tucked away, deep within a 200 acre farm, situation on a cove. Our venue was a blank/rustic canvas, yet, we dressed our venue up with a custom tent, which included wood floors, a fabric covered interior and custom lighting. Our colors included a subtle palette of mink grey, lavender, cream, sand, soft greenery, with a pop of misty blues (to match my bridesmaids brilliant gowns!)

I’ve always loved French Country décor, so, our tables and chairs were a nod to warm, old-world inspired rustic décor. We had a mix of round, fabric draped tables with rectangular white-washed farm tables. We had a mix of elegant chairs along with asymmetrical floral center pieces and free-flowing runners with floral surprises running the length of the table. Our florist and planner worked hard to keep an organic theme throughout. We kept stylistic continuity through our color palette and décor; pops of gold with our flat ware, china, chargers and chandeliers; rustic elements with our cork made bars, spruced up with natural greenery; and wine barrel floral entrance pieces, on either side of our tent. A common theme was an appropriate amount of mis-matching and an organic flow to every detail. We wanted our stylistic choices to be soft and unexpected.

The more time you spent in the space, the more you would notice! Ironically enough, we both shared a history with our venue. Being from Rhode Island, I was generally familiar with the farm, but it wasn’t until my college years that I became intimately acquainted with the space. Throughout college I interned for our wonderful wedding planner, Stasia Anthony, with Exquisite Events. During my time with Stasia, I had assisted with one of her weddings at our venue. I immediately fell in love with it! I loved how you could make it your own, yet the natural beauty of the space spoke for itself. The cove felt intimate, secluded, and there were unexpected elements to the space, like their Cove Cabin, where we held our cocktail hour. The Cabin is perched on the cove and is a wooden and stone space with rustic windows and a sizable deck that spills over to a sloping lawn on the waterfront.

This cabin added variety to the venue, creating a unique setting within the greater space. Scott was familiar with the venue for similar reasons. During his summers while at Brown University, Scott catered a couple of events at Mount Hope. Furthermore, Rhode Island (more generally), and specifically, the Greater Newport Area, holds an important place in our hearts. Scott and I met in Newport and spend every summer in the area with family and friends. We felt truly blessed, across the board, to work with such outstanding professionals. Not only were all of our vendors, professional and detail oriented, but you could tell they are truly masters of their craft. To start, none of our vendors would have been a possibility without the recommendation from our unbelievable planner Stasia Anthony. Stasia and team truly are the “dream team”! They are creative, thoughtful and supportive! I also felt extremely lucky to go through this experience with someone I love and respect, from our previous relationship having worked together.

Our other vendors, The Elements (band), Sally Pinera (photographer), Flowers by Semia (florist), Inkspot Crow (videographers), Peak Event Services (rentals), Newport Tent Company (tent), and Russell Morins (caterer). Our vendors work product really speaks for itself! Our band was absolutely electric! They are not only unbelievably talented but the energy and professionalism they bring, makes you feel like you paid to attend an event! Their range and genres ensures music that everyone will love, no matter the generation or musical taste! Our food ingenuity, presentation and taste was out of this world with Russell Morins. Their service is outstanding, detailed yet unobtrusive.

Our florist Semia really set the tone for the event. Semia is one of a kind. She is so passionate and creative her energy is contagious! Semia has such vision. We also share a style with preferences for romantic and unexpected details! Sally Pinera, our photographer, is extravagant. Everything she shoots is a vision. She has an eye for subtle moments, everything she produces feels intimate and untouched. Additionally, her personality and style are both welcoming and disarming, immediately putting us and our family at ease! Lastly, our videographers were incredible. They have such an authentic style. Their footage but possibly more importantly their editing is outstanding. Their music selection and inclusion of personal moments pays homage to every detail, really capturing the feel of the day! Additionally, no one knew they were!

Classic Wedding at Black Swan Lake Private Estate in Calistoga

Raise your hand if you live for a good proposal story?! Well, if you’re raising the roof, then we’ve got a gem for you today. I’m going to let you read it straight from the Bride in her writeup below, but let me just say it involves the Groom disguising their friends as beekeepers and hiring a professional photographer to document the proposal. Thoughtful, check. Adorable, check. Genius, check. If that says anything about how beautiful their wedding day, planned by Bustle Events, turned out then you know you’re in for a treat. Join us right this way for all the goodness captured by Carlie Statsky.

From the Bride… Napa Valley has always been a special place for me and my husband. After dozens of weekend trips to Healdsburg, Sonoma, and Calistoga wine country became even more special when my husband proposed to me one rainy morning at our friends Ranch. It was a surprise engagement and set underneath a giant oak tree that looked over thousands of acres of vineyards. To my surprise my husband had disguised our friends as beekeepers and hired a professional photographer to witness our proposal. Moments after my husband asked me to be his wife our friends, dressed in bee keeper costumes, transcended down a hill with champagne to celebrate with us. Our engagement was simply magical and so special to us both.

We knew without hesitation that we wanted to get married in wine country. It was important to us to make our wedding a unique experience and as magical as our engagement. We fell in love with Black Swan Lake private estate and loved that the owners only had 3 weddings at the property per year. The weeping willows surrounding the lake and gardens sprinkled throughout the property created such natural beauty. We were lucky to find a planner, Erin Taylor from Bustle Events, to help us navigate through the planning process and help us create the wedding of our dreams. Our goal was to use the raw beauty of Black Swan Lake with a juxtaposition of soft colors and a hint of modern design. It was truly a magical day that is hard to put into words.

My father married us and we sped off in my husband’s vintage Shelby Cobra before joining our loved ones to continue the celebrations. Having live music throughout the night was important to us. From a live violinist during our ceremony and cocktail reception, band to dance the night away, and DJ to kick off our silent disco afterparty our wedding day was filled with dancing, laughter, and fun. Each guests escort card was a box of personally selected white props, such as masks, for our guests to put on during our silent disco afterparty (at black swan lake). It was everything we hoped for and more.

From Bustle EventsJohn and Jenna were such a fun couple to design a wedding for. They loved the idea of giving their guests a new experience at each area. We played of the venues natural beauty by utilizing muted tones of nude, dusty rose, white and cream. Black was used as an edgy accent color.

Charlotte from Charlotte & Daughters created the most gorgeous centerpieces with lots of texture and we added in nude color candles for more warmth on the table. The black menus by The Aerialist Press added the sexy. The soft velvet linens felt supremely luxurious and brought a softness to the space.

30,000 Roses Were Used for this Santa Lucia Preserve Wedding

As described by the Bride in her wedding day story, there were several details that made their day uniquely theirs. From incorporating animals into the celebration and asking their guests to adopt them elephants in lieu of gifts to every inch dripping with roses by Eddie Zaratsian (30,000 to be exact), it is truly a fete like no other. Allison Weddings planned it all, while Larissa Cleveland made sure those moments will live on forever in the form of these images. Oh, and incase you missed it, we kicked it all off with the welcome party this morning!

From the Bride… Michael and I met through mutual friends in 2011 and started dating in April of 2012. Michael grew up in Menlo Park and I in Palo Alto and though we didn’t meet until college it was like we had known each other our whole lives. We shared a love for families, friends, bay area sports teams, snow covered mountains, travel and live music. Over the years we have traveled the world together and also built an amazing life at home in Woodside, CA where we happily live with our dog Bear and six chickens. Our wedding was a dream come true and we are thrilled to have started our marriage in such a beautiful and personal way. We are forever grateful for all of the love, support and hard work that everyone around us put in to making the day such a dream come true.

The Santa Lucia Preserve was the first venue that we visited and we absolutely fell in love with the whole venue, especially the redwood grove where the ceremony took place and the barn where the reception was held. Carmel was also an ideal location for us as it gave us the ability to incorporate some of our favorite things we loved into the other events. Having our rehearsal dinner at on the adorable patio at Casanova, a welcome event on the beach and a wedding in a redwood grove really made our wedding weekend feel personal to us.

We knew that we wanted to make our wedding feel unique to us as a couple and my mom was there every step of the way to help us achieve just that. Flowers are something that both my mom and I absolutely love and she found the incredibly talented Mr. Eddie Zaratsian to help make our dream become a reality. He truly transformed both the redwood grove and the barn into a masterpiece dripping with flowers. The flowers not only looked beautiful but they smelled absolutely amazing and he did not miss a single detail. Everything was stunning from the flowers covering the arch that was built for us to get married under, to the flowers hanging from the ceiling of the barn, to the beams and tables draped in flowers, to the flower crowns and baskets for the flower girls and even the flower collar for our dog Bear were perfect.

We knew that we wanted to have live music at our wedding but we also wanted to do something a little less traditional. We found The Hackensaw Boys, a string based band out of Virginia and decided that they would be the perfect fit for cocktail hour and they would even lead the guests on the walk from cocktails to the reception. They were a huge hit that everyone loved including us!

A love for animals is something that Michael and I share and being able to incorporate some throughout our wedding events was really a highlight. My bridal shower was African Safari themed with goats, alpacas, monkeys, alligators, a pig and even camels which Michael road in on. For the wedding day, Santa Lucia Preserve was nice enough to organize having a horse named Teddy come to take pictures with me before the ceremony. We also knew that we wanted to have our own dog (Bear) be a part of the ceremony so she walked down the aisle as the dog of honor. Fun fact: Michael’s rehearsal day activity with his groomsman was golf mine was goat yoga.

After dating for six years we were fortunate enough to have most of the “essential” home items that newly engaged couples need. Therefore, in lieu of gifts we asked our guests to adopt us elephants at The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is incredible elephant orphanage that we fell in love with when we spent time there in 2017. They rescue and rehabilitate orphaned elephants with the intention of reintegrating them back in to the wild. We had the pleasure of experiencing their newborn nursery in Nairobi as well as their location in Tsavo East where the elephants begin the transition to becoming wild again. The experience was incredible and we were honored to be able to make a small contribution to such an amazing organization. My bridesmaids decided to adopt me the orphanage’s resident blind Rhino, Maxwell, as my wedding gift. The orphanage in Nairobi gave Maxwell a forever home because his blindness would prevent him from ever being able to successfully integrate back in to the wild. I have always loved animals (especially ones in need) and this gift could not have been more perfect.

Welcome Party by the Beach at Casanova in Carmel-By-The-Sea

Babes, we’ve got quite the statement celebration coming up this afternoon (teaser: it involves 30,000 roses). Yes, thirty THOUSAND. But the pretty welcome party that preceded is what we’re kicking things off with today. Beach games, comfort food and plenty of smiles to go around, all captured by Larissa Cleveland and planned by Allison Weddings—what better way to start a wedding weekend?

An Unforgettable Wedding Weekend At Jumby Bay Island Resort

The SMP team recently took a little girls trip where we were lucky enough to attend an amazing wedding weekend set in one of the most beautiful, tranquil and undisturbed places in the world – Jumby Bay Island! The island is reachable only by boat and once you arrive, you are left completely breathless by the sparkling sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and the most luxurious resort in all of the Caribbean. Sounds pretty stellar huh? Yeah. It is. So grab your bags and come join us as we take you through the day-by-day itinerary of our wedding weekend at Jumby Bay Island Resort – aka the best destination wedding venue EVER!

Thursday:

It’s the start of the weekend and we have finally arrived to the resort! We were literally blown away when we saw our rooms (well, I guess we should say our ESTATE). Private Residence Morning Glory is a fabulous colonial style villa set in eight private acres of abundant tropical gardens. So, basically, heaven on earth. It offers four suites in the main house, two private cottages, an ocean view, an infinity pool and a private gym. As you can imagine, the interior was just as breathtaking as the estate itself. Later this weekend – the ceremony and reception will both be held at Private Residence Morning Glory’s private white sand beach.

To end the first day in paradise, we attended an amazing welcome dinner at The Estate House, where we enjoyed the most delicious cuisine combining classic fare with modern island flavors. Let’s just say that was one meal we’ll probably remember for the rest of our lives! Foodie couples who are looking for a place to host their wedding weekend event that is as beautiful as the food is delicious – The Estate House is the perfect combo.

Friday:

It’s officially the day before wedding day and to celebrate the upcoming nuptials we enjoyed a day full of the most fun island activities! We started off the morning with yummy smoothies and fresh fruit (the best kind of breakfast) at The Jumby Bay Veranda and after went on an exciting snorkeling trip! After admiring the beautiful marine life of the island, we had a bite for lunch and sipped on some tropical cocktails at The Pool Grille. It was the best way to start the day!

Later that night, it was time for the rehearsal dinner! It was such a unique experience unlike any other rehearsal dinner we’d been to. It started off with cocktails and passed apps at one of the Estate Homes, then we traveled to another Estate Home for the dinner portion of the night! It was pretty out of this world. Fun fact: Private chefs are assigned to each Estate Home, so when you book a home for you and your wedding guests, you have a dedicated staff for the entire weekend!

Saturday:

TODAY IS THE DAY! And boy was it a good one… We began our day getting wedding-ready with morning yoga, coffee and breakfast at The Jumby Bay Veranda. Then later, we decided to try out The Jumby Bay Spa, voted the “Caribbean’s Best Resort Spa 2018”… safe to say it lived up to it’s reputation. The spa treatments combine the use of modern therapeutic practices with ancient healing remedies of the West Indies and African cultures. We all got the Shiro-Abyanga Massage, it was truly a spa experience that can only be had at this one-of-a-kind resort.

The wedding ceremony and reception were sooo incredibly beautiful. They were both held on our private beach of the Private Residence Morning Glory. It was such an intimate and special location to celebrate such a beautiful occasion.

Sunday:

We knew this day had to come eventually, but truth be told, we woke up on Sunday so sad knowing that we had to leave this perfect place! It ended in the most lovely way possible, with a farewell brunch at the private farm on the island. We sipped on fresh mimosas and farm-to-table cuisine, wishing the weekend would never come to an end. We are already so excited to go back to this magical place! Whoever is having their destination wedding weekend at Jumby Bay Island Resort and will kindly send us an invite – consider our bags packed!!

Luxury Airplane Hanger Wedding Complete with a Jet Exit

We’re only two months into 2019, but I’m going to go out on a limb (or should I say wing?!) and say that this fete will claim the most unique wedding venue of the year. When other venue options fell through for Nealy and Adam, they looked to a private airport hanger at Clinton National Airport—and oh, does it wow my friends. Anne-Claire Allen guided their vision through a whimsical design and precise planning, for what I’m was a wedding the guests are still talking about (and will for years). Have a look at Kayla Barker‘s images to experience it all for yourself.

Anne-Claire Allen

From designer and planner Anne-Claire AllenTransforming a 23,000 square-foot raw, private airplane hanger space is one way to create a jaw-dropping and unique wedding, but sure isn’t an easy task! Nealy and Adam knew that they wanted to find an unusual wedding venue in their Central Arkansas hometown, but finding a space that hadn’t been overused or that was too traditional was quite the feat! After several venue options fell through, Nealy and Adam finally received approval to utilize the private airplane hanger connected to the Clinton National Airport! From there, the true planning and design began!

Inspiration was built off of the bride’s epic Monique Lhullier gown that was adorned with rose appliqués as a nod to the lakeside home she grew up in that was covered with roses. After months of planning, the removal of six private jets and three full days of setup, guests were invited into a never before seen wedding venue that transported guests to a magical space full of 20-foot trees, a custom dance-floor and lounge seating risers, an enormous hanging floral chandelier, an epic bar with signature drinks and an excellent Southern-style food throughout the evening.

With a large gospel choir, multiple speciality culinary items, a dress change into an icy blue gown by Elizabeth Fillmore, personalized macarons and even late-night fishbowl drinks, surprises awaited the lucky 400 guests every hour! The JamWOWs band from Dallas, Texas kept everyone on the dance floor until finishing the evening with an acoustic serenade as the hanger doors pulled back to reveal the couples getaway jet. The band’s horn section escorted the couple in true second-line fashion to the runway where they were flown off to their honeymoon as their friends and family cheered in celebration!

Modern Seattle Wedding at Great Hall at Union Station

As O’Malley Photographers explains, “Gorgeous. Grand. Modern. These were a few words Stephanie chose when describing her wedding day…”. Set at the iconic Great Hall at Union Station in Seattle, that’s exactly the vibe of this fete planned and designed by Kaleb Norman James Design. You can almost hear the laughter echoing in this magnificent space, and through every image—here in the full gallery.

From O’Malley PhotographersGorgeous. Grand. Modern. These were a few words Stephanie chose when describing her wedding day at the iconic Great Hall at Union Station in Seattle. Steven and Stephanie are a fun-loving, gorgeous couple and their day reflected just that. The couple incorporated many traditional Nigerian elements as a nod to the groom’s heritage such as “Chin Chin” on the dessert table, traditional Nigerian clothing for the groom’s family (they all used a “family fabric” from Nigeria to have custom outfits made), and a “money spray” where the bride and groom are “showered” with money on the dance floor. Their favors were a sweet nod to Stephanie’s grandma—cookies that she would bake for Stephanie growing up with their story and recipe card. These traditional and memorable elements paired with jaw-dropping styling and florals created by Kaleb Norman James made for a truly grand and memorable day.

A Hauntingly Romantic Wedding at the Graylyn Estate

We love when a bride and groom think outside the typical blush pink and green wedding box and opt for something a little more wild! With a bit of help from Rebecca Rose Events, this gorgeous couple absolutely nailed their “hauntingly romantic” wedding theme. They tied the knot at Graylyn Weddings in front of 400 (yup, 400!) of their closest friends and family surrounded by lush arrangements of fluffy blooms in rich, bold hues. Just waittt until you see the reception captured beautifully by Perry Vaile Photography. We’ll give you a little hint: HANGING. CAKE.

From Rebecca Rose Events… When we first met Hannah and Travis and asked them to describe the way they wanted their wedding to look and feel, their answer gave us chills: “hauntingly romantic”. If something is “haunting”, that means it really stays with you… So we set out to create a sensory experience that was inviting, romantic, and that would leave an incredible impression.

This sweet couple has style in spades. They’re both accomplished hair stylists and and it was such a joy to design for these two artists who appreciate the power of aesthetics! Together we worked to incorporate elements of classic beauty and add in just the right amount of edginess.

Flowers were a huge priority for both the bride and groom, so we incorporated lush, fluffy blooms such as hydrangea, garden roses, and peonies that were rich in color. We paired wine, blush, and soft champagne tones with black and deep grey taper candles and chargers, along with black chargers and gold flatware. There was no shortage of texture or intrigue!

he invitation suite included letterpress and gold foil imprint, as well as custom watercolor illustration, and a unique velluto fabric backing on the invitation card (the same type/texture of fabric used on the tables at the wedding.) We used the suite to introduce a peek at all of the wedding elements guests would experience. The more interesting an invitation suite, the better the turnout… And well, that adage held true, as over 400 guests attended the wedding to celebrate Hannah and Travis!

The ceremony was held on the majestic front lawn of the historic Graylyn Estate, with the manor house in the background. The couple exchanged vows just before sunset and then everyone enjoyed cocktail hour inside the manor house. After cocktail hour, a plated dinner was service inside a large custom tent on the back lawn, followed by dancing and late night snacks under a separate tent.

3 Tips for a Marriage That Will Last for Decades & a 35-year Anniversary Session

Today’s anni-sesh will warm your soul my friends. 35 years, thirty five. And yet, they’ve still got that newlywed glow about them, don’t they? I don’t doubt that Sveta and Dima have experienced their challenges in marriage, but they’ve clearly weathered any storms with grace—and these images from Anastasiia Krivenok are the proof. While my husband and I have only been together for 13 years, a mere third of the time these two have, I can say we’ve picked up a few pointers along the way on how to sustain a marriage that truly lasts; one that embraces the good and bad, and keeps your love glowing strong. Read below for a few personal tips!

Try Out the 2-2-2 Rule

I can’t quite remember where I recently read this, but it’s something my husband and I agreed was such a fantastic idea. The premise is to never stop dating—to prioritize time together. Every two weeks you go out on a date, every two months you go on a weekend adventure or getaway and every two years you go on a vacation (no kiddos allowed!). Now, I know what you’re probably thinking—this might not be feasible financially, or if you have very small babies, but the concept can easily be adjusted to your own lifestyle. For example, with recently starting a business, my husband and I aren’t in a place financially to hire a baby sitter every two weeks and go out to dinner, let alone take a weekend getaway every two months—but, we are dedicating two hours every week to ‘us’ time even if we can’t go out, we’ll have a movie night! And at least every two months we’ll plan to hire a sitter and go out to dinner. Regularly dedicating time for each other has had such a positive impact on our relationship.

Embrace the Challenging Seasons of Marriage

Unless you’re the .05% of couples who are utterly perfect (truth: that doesn’t exist!), you’re going to have challenges. You may go through seasons of marriage where it feels like you’re on completely separate pages. During these times, it’s easy to point the finger, to place blame and to push one another further away. My husband and I have had a handful of these disconnected seasons in our 13 years, most times around big life events that shook us to the core (deployments, losing jobs, time away for work, becoming parents, etc.). But every single time, (and as cliche as it sounds) when the storm was over, we always came out better on the other side. As we’ve grown and become wiser, we’ve learned a few ways to weather these stormy seasons…

  1. Always look within first and in turn, put one another first. This works every time.
  2. When you find yourself putting blame on your partner or saying something negative, follow that up with a positive… even if it takes you a few days.
  3. Empathize with your partner and validate their feelings.
  4. Show appreciation, on. the. daily. I can’t say this one enough.
  5. Work on your effective listening. Let each other talk for 3-5 minutes without saying a word. It’s transformative.

If you’re going through a particularly challenging season, a marriage counselor or therapist is hugely helpful and not something that should be surrounded with shame. It’s also not a “last resort”. Having done a couple months of counseling with my husband, we looked at it like taking a course for marriage! Those couples who can acknowledge their weaknesses and work on them, are usually stronger for it. There are also counselors out there who offer video appointments (which is what we did), making it easier if you have busy schedules.

Don’t Stop Writing Love Notes

Plain and simple. Never stop telling your partner exactly why you love them and how much you love them. Never stop wanting to see a smile on their face, never underestimate the power of a bathroom mirror post it note, a random Tuesday card, a 3-page long love letter.

Malibu Boho Summer Wedding at Adamson House Museum

This stunning Bride envisioned a California-meets-Hawaii vibe for her Big Day and with the help of Velvet Alley Events, that’s exactly what this Malibu fete is. Set at Adamson House, you will find bridesmaids in the prettiest shades of cornflower blue, palm bouquets and a tropical chuppah thanks to Boulevard Florist, adorably named signature cocktails… just for starters. I promise you’ll find so many more steal-worthy moments tucked away in this celebration, all captured by Sposto Photography.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/301964966 600 338]

From the Bride… As a wedding photographer, the whole planning process was completely surreal to me. I had been admiring the weddings I photographed and dreaming about my own for so long.

Zach and I met 2.5 years ago through the dating app, Bumble. (It really does work!) Since then, we have been inseparable. We love traveling, the beach, good food & drinks, and our family & friends.

I sat down and thought about my (then) fiancé and me; about who we were as a couple and what was most important to us. I knew I wanted our wedding to be unique to us and be something that represented who we are as a couple.

I wanted our wedding to have a California-meets-Hawaii vibe without being overly tropical or beachy. I found inspiration in colors and textures from photos of interiors and nature. My heart melts for shades of dusty blues so we had accents of blue all over. I wanted my bridesmaids to have dresses they could wear again so together we all picked out different dresses in different shades of blue for each one. (It was probably what I put the most effort into!) I wore a gorgeous lace gown from BHLDN, which I customized, taking the straps off and converting them to fit off the shoulder. Zach wore a navy blue shawl-collar tux from Suit Supply.

We flew in an amazing ukulele player/vocalist, Johnny Herbert, to play music as our guests arrived and throughout the wedding. We had tray-passed sangria for our guests as that was the drink Zach and I shared on our first date.

Our venue was right next to the beach and needed minimal decor as the grounds were so unbelievably gorgeous. For the ceremony, we had a birch wood chuppah with heavy tropical greenery and lush white blooms such as gardenias, garden roses, and dendrobiums. I had a very large, loose and wild bouquet with similar flowers and greenery. We chose to have a unity sand-pouring where our mothers poured sand that we collected from the beaches where we grew up signifying where we, literally, came from. At the end of the ceremony, Zach and I poured sand, from the beach by our house, on top of the sand our mothers had poured, signifying that we were all family now.

We repurposed a lot of the florals from the ceremony to use for the reception to save money! We also used my bridesmaid’s bouquets behind the bar at the reception as decor!

Our signature drinks were a ‘My Ty’ (a mai tai recipe we had made up and aptly named after me) and a ‘Bumble Bee Margarita’ (a spicy pineapple margarita, a nod to how we met on Bumble!)

Since it was a summer wedding, the reception started before the sunset, which I loved! Zach and I did our first dance to Harvest Moon played on the ukulele and sang live by Johnny Herbert. Farm and Flame provided dinner and we were told by so many of our guests that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding! We had a marble cake, a donut wall (cuz homegirl LOVES her donuts).

My dad’s toast is what stood out to me the most from our wedding. After he talked about how perfect my husband is (seriously I think he likes him more than he likes me), he played two videos that my grandmothers had recorded. They both live in Kentucky and were unable to fly to LA for the wedding. I don’t think I’ve ever cried harder or been happier to see and hear my beautiful grandmothers.

The day could not have been more perfect. A HUGE thanks to all our vendors but an extra thank you to our amazing photographer Sposto Photography and our videographer Becca Maas for capturing our day and allowing us to have tangible memories to relive our wedding for the rest of our lives!

A Classic Southern Wedding at Musgrove Plantation

You just can’t get much better than a tented garden wedding with a classic color scheme of green and white – for us, they’ll truly never go out of style! Emily Burton Designs made magic happen at Musgrove Plantation for this gorgeous bride and groom. From the ceremony scene dripping in romantic Spanish moss and lush blooms by Jackson | Durham, to the beautiful reception that’s seriously every Southern Belle’s DREAM… we just can’t get enough of this timeless day captured by Sawyer Baird.

From Sawyer Baird… Will and Lauren met on St. Simons Island, Georgia in the summer of 2007. They were attending an Elegant Island Living event, held at the Golden Isles Marina, with friends. Lauren recognized some other attendees and upon greeting her friends, was introduced to Will. After their introduction, Will and Lauren spontaneously started talking. To this day, Lauren recalls the exact outfit he was wearing and their conversation at length. The following summer, Lauren was visiting friends and crossed paths with Will again. It was this encounter when their adoration began to flourish, following the summer, they started officially dating.

Will and Lauren dated for many years and spent many Sunday’s with their families at weekly family dinner. Lauren had no idea that one day, her regular Sunday family dinner in her childhood home would lead to her perfect proposal. In August 2016, Will and Lauren attended their regularly scheduled Sunday dinner, and before leaving, Will asked Lauren to take a walk on the neighborhood golf course. They were barefoot and walked on the golf course with a beautiful, warm summer scenery in the background. Lauren never expected what was to come, but the man she loved got on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage.

After celebrating the engagement with their families, Lauren and Will started the wedding planning process. Lauren, an interior designer, had already created a vision of how the wedding would look. The couple decided to have their ceremony in Lauren’s hometown. They chose to marry at Musgrove Plantation because of its maze garden, marsh, and history. The couple wanted to take advantage of bringing their wedding design dreams to life and hired luxury wedding planner and event designer Emily Burton of Emily Burton Designs at the recommendation of a wedding photographer their made of honor knew.

For the day of the wedding details, the couple decided to use the garden of Musgrove Plantation for a cocktail area and rented a custom tent for the reception. The tent was clear and draped with greenery. The food incorporated touches on Will and Lauren’s Italian heritage with infused olive oils, risotto, and herbs. For entertainment, they hired a that would keep everyone dancing throughout the night. Lauren Quotes “Everyone says the day of your wedding goes by in a flash, well they weren’t kidding. The day started off with me getting ready with my closest friends and family, including my mother, bridesmaids, and mother-in-law. We were got ready on-site, in the main house. My dress hung in front of a large window with a spectacular view of the marsh behind it. It wasn’t until I saw the guests arriving to the ceremony that I started feeling anxious. I have never been good with large crowds, but especially a crowd that would have all eyes on just me. I was extremely nervous to walk down the aisle, but as soon as I saw Will, all those nerves went away.”

When recapping the style, design, and planning of the wedding, Emily Burton stated “The maze garden made such a statement, and already went with the theme, all it needed was some garden urns with a mixture of flowers to help communicate our visual theme and set the tone. Emily choose gold Chiavari chairs to add a timeless elegance to the maze garden ceremony.

There were so many hints of Tuscany already on property, the pergola with massive vines intertwining it, the stone garden features overgrown with moss, so I thought it just made sense to play of the the space instead of working against it…and it just made even more sense that Lauren had Italian roots.

One of the most unique features about the entire design concept of Lauren and Will’s wedding, was a diamond lattice cross-hatched greenery wall that was used throughout the design concept; such areas included the custom built ten foot by 15 foot walls behind the bar) to the diamond cross hatched greenery ceiling installation in the center of the tent ceiling in the dining space, and even the custom diamond bar signs that acted as a drink menu behind the bar to communicate to guests what was being served A well designed space, should be a “constant nod” of similar patterns and or motifs that help make a space cohesive!

Although the bride and groom decided to keep it traditional by waiting to see each other for the first time, when Lauren walked down the aisle, the final picture of the wedding day was complete.”

When the wedding day came to an end, the celebration continued. Will picked St. Lucia for a 7-day honeymoon. The reasoning behind St. Lucia was because the bride and groom needed a relaxing getaway. They stayed at the Ladera Resort which had a three-wall concept including one open wall with a plunge pool. The property overlooked the two iconic Piton Mountains, and the weather was soothing from sun up to sun down. They explored the island on a few days, taking boat excursions and snorkeling trips. Other days they relaxed on Sugar Beach. One day, Will had a local fisherman take them on a lengthy snorkeling excursion which ended in a beautiful sunset and a delicious local fish fry.

Lauren states, “After nine years of dating, one special day, and one amazing adventure. Will was finally my husband and I his wife. He is my best friend, and I am his partner in crime. He is the best listener I could ask for and I understand his unique ways entirely. We can’t live without each other, and now we never have to.”

Modern Twist on a Classic Wedding at Kestrel Park in Santa Ynez

There are too many adorable and meaningful details of this day to count… but the one that truly shines is described best by the planner, Intertwined Events“Each night before bed, Karlie + Adam tell each other 3 reasons why they appreciate one another. It only seemed right to include this personalized element into the day. Each escort card was a card to that person on why they were appreciated by the couple, along with their table assignment!” And friends, there are SO many more moments like that woven into this celebration, that I believe will inspire you to craft a day that is uniquely you. Read the full story below, paired with imagery from Adrian Jon.

From Intertwined EventsThis wedding had one of the funniest, most personalized ceremonies we’ve witnessed, the longest dining table we’ve ever seen and a crowd of people dying to get their selfie (more on that later), making this wedding one for the books!

Karlie, a life and career coach, and Adam, a comedy talent agent, first met at a party. At the end of the night, she gave him her number, but he never called. Fast forward five months later, they matched on a dating app. The first thing she said? “You never called.” And the rest was history. Karlie and Adam are a match made in goofball heaven. These Los Angeles natives made it official by tying the knot on September 1st at Kestrel Park in Santa Ynez, California.

For their wedding day, Karlie and Adam wanted something romantic, but true to their laidback style. All of the greenery at Kestrel Park carried throughout the day organically. What really makes these two stand out are their personalities! Both Karlie and Adam are outgoing, bubbly and absolutely hilarious… you can’t help but smile when you are around them! As many intimate and stunning, romantics photos there are of these two, there’s just as many of Adam in his true funny guy form!

Guests arrived at Kestrel Park on a party school bus that featured the couple’s wedding hashtag #ThePrincessAndTheG on the side of it! Upon arrival they were greeted with beverages and gorgeous views of the Kestrel Park property. The ceremony was full of fun and laughter. Karlie’s nephew took his job as ring ‘bear’er very seriously – he was literally dressed as a bear! Adam’s friend and client, comedian Orny Adams, officiated the wedding. There were plenty of laughs and jabs at the two throughout the ceremony, but Adam’s reaction when he saw his future wife walk down the aisle was simply priceless. When the groom sheds a tear when he first sees his bride, we have to shed one too! Orny officiated the ceremony perfectly, with moments of laughter, but also moments of pure joy as he interviewed all the bridal party and family in advance on what made Karlie and Adam perfect for one another; it was one of the most intimate and personalized ceremonies we’ve witnessed.

Cocktail hour took place in the garden. Guests were treated to his and her cocktails – blackberry mint mojitos and spicy cucumber margaritas.

Each night before bed, Karlie + Adam tell each other 3 reasons why they appreciate one another. It only seemed right to include this personalized element into the day. Each escort card was a card to that person on why they were appreciated by the couple, along with their table assignment!

At the reception, guests dined at a 168ft long table. That’s right! 168ft LONG! This table went on for what seemed like days. Though it was long, the family style table evoked the feeling of being at an intimate dinner party. Karlie and Adam were sat at a sweetheart table in the middle, where they could see all of their family and friends.

On Instagram, Adam is infamously known for photobombing people kissing and taking a selfie – what he calls #Ginivisigram- so you know there were plenty of selfies of these two kissing throughout the night! Photographer, Adrian Jon, even got in on the action! Debois Entertainment rocked the night away! Guests were on the dance floor all night long and if they weren’t, they were enjoying the late-night grilled cheese bar.

Adam’s career revolves around comedy while Karlie’s career is about empowering women and supporting them to their dream life. Let’s just say it was a dream to work with this powerhouse and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them!

Elegant Pastel Wedding at Saratoga National Golf Club

From one wedding dress with two looks to a classic tented reception to the homemade wine made by the Bride’s father, there’s so much to love woven in the fibers of this celebration planned by Christine Wheat. I don’t doubt that you’ll find yourself swooningly smiling at every image from Michelle Lange. Take a look here for more.

From the bride… Since Spencer and I both have Upstate New York roots (we met in high school!), we were thrilled to tie the knot in Saratoga Springs. We loved the idea of creating a venue from scratch so we opted for a big tented wedding on the grounds of Saratoga National Golf Course. Our goal was to create a modern and elegant space with a touch of rustic charm. With collaboration efforts from Rain or Shine, Mazzone Hospitality, Renaissance Floral Design & Christine Wheat Special Events, our wedding dreams became reality – a beautifully draped clear top tent filled with muted florals, long farm tables, giant chandeliers, tons of greenery and tapered candles – not even the rain could take away the beauty of this tent! Michelle Lange and Eric Floberg did such an amazing job at capturing all the big moments and little details.

Every moment of the day was a favorite, but walking into the dining tent while the guests were still enjoying the cocktail hour was really special. It was awesome to soak up the environment, that we had spent so many months creating, just the two of us. My parents also surprised us by recreating a local ice cream shop for dessert – such a memorable way to end the night!

Thanks to the team at Angela’s Bridal in Albany, I was able to achieve having two wedding day looks with just one dress. I wore a Paloma Blanca lace fit-and-flare dress with a full tulle skirt over the top for the ceremony. The tulle skirt was removed for the reception!

One of my favorite details was how we paid tribute to my Italian roots. Homemade wine was served (made by my father & his cousin) and homemade Italian wedding soup (made by my mother) was the first course, served in individual soup pots. I also loved the escort card wall, which displayed ombre escort cards with gold calligraphy on a wooden board. It was a work of art!

From Linda ChampenoisWhen Jeremy Froeliger, photographer, contacted me to offer me to realize a photoshoot in Vence, in the South of France, to represent an elopment, it was an obviousness for me, to showcase this precious moment and the freshness of the gorgeous region, the French Riviera. In the Chateau Saint Martin, 5 stars, from the Oetker Collection, the charm of Provence and luxury are ubiquitous. Modernity and elegance are only one as our couple of young lovers.

Our heart stroke was the Chapel with the work of Erick Ifergan, the tree of life, idyllic for an intimate ceremony. Throughought this scenography, we wanted to represente an elopment in the French Riviera, with sophistication and modernity whilst having always the authenticity of this XII century castle. A vintage car from 1958 MGA Roaster, a sumptuous Couture dress by Inbal Dror, freshness from the garden roses in the bride bouquet, an extraordinary panoramic view, define a fantastic place for a wedding that we wanted to share through the work of each professional of the team.

A Romantic Sunrise Engagement Session on the Brooklyn Bridge

As Carrie Bradshaw once said… “Year after year, twenty-something women come to New York in search of the two ‘L’s: Labels & Love.” Well, this gorgeous engagement session from Erika Parker Photography is the perfect combination of both! The minute we laid eyes on this stunning dusty blue Carol Hannah gown we were instantly blown away by it’s romantic movement and ethereal style. This dress paired with the iconic location of the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise and there you have it – the most romantic NYC photo shoot ever.

From Erika Parker Photography… The Brooklyn Bridge is an icon in New York City. It’s a remarkable work of architecture. It evokes emotions of nostalgia, romance, but is also very industrial, and urban. Carol Hannah makes beautiful gowns, that flow and have such incredible personalities. They Myrina gown made by Carol Hannah is one of my favorites. I love it because its not traditional, yet is so elegant and ethereal.

The fabric moves in a way that doesn’t seem like its from this Earth. I always see this dress photographed at the beach, or on a beautiful mountain top. These venues absolutely do it justice, but I wanted to show that an urban setting can be equally as spectacular. Not every bride can have a wedding in the mountains or at the beach, and there are a lot of ways to be creative in your own environment.

For years I’ve wanted to do a sunrise shoot on the Brooklyn Bridge, and this shoot was everything I’d hoped it would be. True, we were up at 3am to start hair and make up, but it was oh so worth it. The sun crept up over the bridge, making the sky pink, and slowly warmed into yellow. It was truly an incredible morning. I want couples to be inspired by this shoot, and to realize that they can also do something like this, if it is planned correctly.

A Lush Summer Wine Country Wedding at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards

This perfectly sun-kissed day captured by Luna de Mare Photography at Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyards just left us completely smitten. From the heart-stoppingly gorgeous floral arbor by Southern Blooms to the bride’s two piece Reem Acra gown… every detail of this day thoughtfully planned by Amore Events is pure wedding perfection. Prepare for all the heart flutters, this one’s a real good one…

From Luna de Mare PhotographyAs New Yorkers, Fei-Fei and Evan wanted to escape to Virginia’s wine country, with rolling hills and lush vineyards as a destination getaway for their wedding, and they chose the incomparable Pippin Hill for their celebration.

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect as Fei-Fei walked down the aisle in a stunning Reem Acra two piece gown towards a tuxedo clad Evan who smiled sweetly under the arbor of overflowing florals created by Southern Blooms for this black tie affair.

Every detail was thoughtfully crafted, from the custom Invite suite and matching programs, to the perfectly placed monogram embroidered linens on the tablescape. It was an impeccably executed event with Amore Events at the helm.

Once the ceremony concluded, as the couple celebrated their post I-do’s among the lush hydrangeas, guests were invited to sip on Pippin Hill wine and signature cocktails, nosh on aperitifs and savor the gelato favored by the couple as a little sweet surprise.

It was a truly remarkable celebration well into the night complete with a grand sparkle exit at the end of their beautiful evening. Truly an honor to capture, and one of my favorite vineyard weddings to date.

Modern Ethereal Wedding at Toledo Glass Pavilion in Ohio

This celebration at Toledo Glass Pavilion is a little bit of everything wrapped into one… it’s modern, yet has classic charm; it’s ever so subtly ethereal, yet completely unfussy. There are moments like this that will make you want to go a little pin-crazy (have at it!) and ones like this, that’ll give you all the warm and fuzzies for your own Big Day to come. Thanks to Jenna Nicole Photography, we can be inspired by all the beauty this fete has to offer.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/287010530 600 338]

From the Bride… Zachary and I were dating for five years before he popped the question on the wooden bridge at our favorite park, Wildwood, in Toledo, OH. Rewind five years prior on our first of many walks that we strolled, where we named the bridge ‘our spot’. The proposal was so sweet and simple. Zachary had planned a random Wednesday dinner reservation and told me that we needed to leave early because he wanted to go on a walk before dinner. As we walked down the path we had taken so many times before, he knelt on his knee and asked me to be his always. Of course, I said yes!

The wedding design process was so special to me. It was a chance to incorporate our personalities into our wedding day and make it not only special for us, but for our families and friends as well. I had known for a very long time that I wanted to have a wedding that made guests and myself feel like they were in an ethereal, dreamy fairytale with a modern flair. Zachary and I researched venues online in the city where we met, as it only felt right to get married in the place that we fell in love. We landed at the Toledo Museum of Art- Glass Pavilion and we knew as soon as we walked in that we had found our place. With all walls being made of glass, it felt like we were in a glass palace with views of lush greenery; the perfect blend of a garden, modern wedding. Beautiful galleries guests could venture through during cocktail hour and a glass blowing demonstration, it would be equally special for guests to share in our day.

My mother and I joke that the wedding process was not as strenuous as some might think; things fell into place after Zachary and I chose the venue. My mother and I planned many girls’ days where we designed the floral arrangements, color scheme, and invitation suite, to execute my vision of what the day would be like. One of my favorite memories of wedding planning was when Zachary and I took a day trip to meet with our wedding cake designer and baker, Wendy Kromer. My grandmother had instilled the love of baking within me and her gift to us was our wedding cake. When we walked in to Wendy’s studio on the lake, she allowed us to sample over a dozen cake flavors, frostings, curds, and preserves. We handpicked combinations of cake, ganache, frosting, and preserves for our wedding cake. It was the best day sharing smiles and cake with my love, and we couldn’t wait to share it with everyone on our big day.

Another special element of the day was our wedding favors. As a child growing up, my parents would take my sister and I to art museums, exhibitions, and glass blowing demonstrations. My father took the initiative to have our favors hand made by a glass artist. He arranged for the favors to be crafted into small glass hearts with swirls of blues and whites. As for the gown, that may have been the hardest, yet most fun part of the planning. My mother, nana, and I went to probably five stores before I found the gown. I had envisioned an off the shoulder, beaded bodice, tulle ball gown with a cathedral veil. It was quite the journey of trying dozens of dresses, but finally I found the one. I knew that Zachary would like any dress I would wear on our day, but I knew that he favors the more traditional aspect of things.

On August 18, 2018, we were married at the gorgeous Historic St. Patrick Church in Toledo, OH followed by a reception at the Toledo Museum of Art- Glass Pavilion. It was the most magical, dreamy day filled with love and pure joy. It seemed as though our families had worked together and supported us during our whole relationship and that day was a genuine image of our love for one another and our families. If I were to give brides a piece of advice to take with them on their wedding planning journey, it would be to allow your wedding day to truly take into account your personality and allow your wedding style to reflection of yourself and your partner.

From Jenna Nicole PhotographyFrom the unique reception venue, down to the tiny details of the stationary, this wedding combined classic & ethereal statements to create an overall dreamy event.

Zachary & Olivia met in college & married in the stunning Historic St. Patrick’s of downtown Toledo. The joy that surrounded the bride and groom was obvious all throughout the day (just look at the pictures of the couple as they exit the church surrounded by their friends and family for a small glimpse of this joy!)

The stationary details set the tone for the day. The letter pressed invitations featured simple text on a white background. This was complemented by the other pieces of the invitation suite, which had a greenery illustration on the edges of the cards.

Olivia wore a ballgown with a tulle skirt that had delicate beading on the sleeves and throughout. The elegant design of the dress was echoed in Olivia’s Badgley Mischka heels as well as her hair that was twisted into a classic updo.

Olivia & her bridesmaids got ready at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Toledo. Some of my favorite pictures are of Olivia’s flower girl, her niece, as she twirled around in her gown to match Olivia.

As guests entered Zach & Olivia’s reception space, held in the Glass Pavilion at the Toledo Museum of Art, you could tell by their faces they were instantly wowed by the environment.
The glass walls encompassed the space all throughout the building which emphasized the dreamy feel of the wedding. White flowers and greenery anchored the middle of each table, and kept the space feeling minimal & elegant in design.

The cake, designed by Wendy Kromer Confections, was placed in the center of the space and the rest of the room seemed to revolve around it. The detailed design of the cake, sitting multiple tiers high, seemed to echo the detail that was evident throughout the entire wedding day.

When the sun set, the reception space transformed. The pitch black sky outside of the glass walls served as a perfect backdrop for the lights in the reception space to reflect upon the glass and create the illusion of stars.

The bride & groom celebrated into the night and ended their perfect day with a final dance together, surrounded by all their guests, and then an exit into the night.
