Two World Travelers Wed in a Thailand Ceremony Overflowing With Hundreds of White Orchids

If orchids are your favorite bloom, then this wedding is about to be your latest obsession. Having traveled the world together, it only make sense that Jennifer and Neil would tie the knot in an exotic, can’t-be-beat destination! Thailand was their perfect place and The Wedding Bliss Thailand was their wedding planning wizard . They exchanged vows under a floating canopy of white orchids arranged by IAMFLOWER and danced the night away surrounded by strings of romantic fairy lights. Every moment was captured flawlessly by Blush Wedding Photography – live vicariously through this dreamy day at the full gallery!

From The Wedding Bliss ThailandJennifer and Neil, two adventurous souls with a joined love for travel knew that their wedding had to be special.

Living in Vancouver, Canada, the couple got engaged in Indonesia and thought it symbolic to then tie the knot in South-East Asia as well, finally deciding on Thailand, the country of warmest hospitality, delicious food and most gorgeous of views.

With the theme of Classic Romance, the wedding was set in a private villa facing Phuket’s west coast with amazing views of the ocean. The wedding design used soft nudes, almond, and white tones, creating a grand, yet welcoming atmosphere for the guests.

Combining reference to classical art and modern geometrical minimalism, The Wedding Bliss Thailand designed their wedding arch using transparent acrylic structure and white flower blooms. By adding golden elements the design gained more elevated and classical look, but soft fabrics like champagne silk never allowed it to get too stiff.

This Alexandra Grecco Dress Made Us Double-Take

When Natalie Choi Events and Stephanie Gan Photography set out to craft a spring-meets-Japanese-minimalism inspirational shoot, they aimed for a refined, garden-style elegance. And ohhh, is that combo stunning beyond words. While I don’t typically find myself swooning over ‘the dress’, today’s Alexandra Grecco number that they paired with the whole look is airy, lovely and just. so. perfect. for this vibe. Would you wear this beauty or go for this look on your own big day?

From Natalie of Natalie Choi EventsInspired by the minimalist traditional meets modern architectural style of many tea houses and cafes in Japan, Stephanie and I brainstormed a shoot that would reflects the understated elegance of that meeting. Tea houses in Japan are often characterized by a common space that is garden-facing, drawing attention to nature and blurring the boundary between garden and table. Similarly, we wanted to create a space where nature interposed the structures of our design while still maintaining a simplistic, refined aesthetic.

We chose the lush grounds of Villa Montalvo as our setting, drawn to the gorgeous historical structures surrounded by blooming vines and lush, green gardens. The black, iron gates leading into the garden were softened with an array of white blooms to soften the beams and create a magical entrance leading to the table. To celebrate the bounty of spring, our florist Laura chose all of the most delicate, whimsical blooms for the bridal bouquet and ikebana-inspired centerpieces for the table. Simple, handmade pottery pieces made in Japan were selected for the table setting, finished off with luxe touches of a gold-rimmed glass and rich velvet table linen. Wooden textures in the flatware and wishbone chairs were incorporated to infuse an organic, grounded element into our tablescape. Inky elements woven throughout the invitation suite, table, and cake provided a masculine contrast to the airy elements and neutral color palette.

We styled our couple to tell the story of two young newlyweds, happy and relaxed on their wedding day – soaking in the serenity of being surrounded by the beautiful gardens as they celebrate their love. With natural makeup and flowing hair, our bride wore a gown by Alexandra Grecco that featured delicate floral applique, a strappy open back, and a train so delicate it almost floated as our model moved. Our dapper groom suited up in a sleek black tux, and together they created the sweetest couple.

How to Thoughtfully Infuse Your Interior Design Style Into Your Wedding Decor

More and more, brides are beginning to take inspiration from their own homes in order to curate their overall wedding design… and let us just say, the results are BEYOND gorgeous. Not only that, it’s also an amazing way to let your personality shine through your decor and make it your wedding look and feel so you. From your lounge furniture to your tablescape, Always Yours Events is taking you step by step through the many ways you can thoughtfully infuse your unique interior design style into your wedding. Check out the full gallery captured beautifully by Jessa Schifilliti featuring stunning blooms at every turn by The Wild Dahlia to get seriously inspired.

From Keri of Always Yours Events…. Now more than ever we are seeing couples prioritizing the infusion of their personality and style into their wedding designs and celebrations, and what better way than to take cues from interior design and possibly their home to create a stylish and welcoming design that leaves guests in awe. For this inspiration shoot, film photographer Jessa Schifilliti and I dreamed up a design that would infuse the interior design of a modern coastal home into an intimate wedding celebration. We imagined a couple with impeccable taste, Sloane and Brooks, who have a background of working within the interior design and architecture industries, and it felt incredibly fitting to create an aesthetic based on interior and seaside inspiration in a modern and unexpected fashion.

This celebration was meant to be intimate with a guest list of just close family and friends, as well as feature all of the fine details and luxuries the bride and groom ever desired. To create a visually interesting and romantic design, we set our sights on a unique color palette and a plethora of textures. A color palette of painterly ocean blue shades, wheat, sandy beige, tan, taupe, blush, orange sherbet, cream, ivory and gold worked together impeccably and created cohesion amongst all of the textural elements of the design. For texture, we took inspiration from rattan, woven baskets, weathered wood, modern pottery, grasses and bleached ruscus. For the first guest touchpoint we worked with the talented ladies of Gus and Ruby Letterpress to create a custom and distinctive wedding invitation suite with clever elements that guests would be wow-ed by upon receiving.

The suite included handmade tan cotton paper with matte white foil, a mixture of casual handwritten and serif fonts, a unique take on standard invitation wording to infuse personality, a custom address wrap and an oyster shell liner that tied into the theme of our welcome reception — Bubbly and Bivalves. For attire, our gorgeous bride Sloane’s bridal look included an ethereal and show-stopping gown by Alexandra Grecco, a stunning custom oval diamond engagement ring and distinctive gold band by Susie Saltzman, Jimmy Choo nude heels, and an effortless yet flawless look created by the talents of hairstylist Maricruz, owner of Maricruz Polito Hairstyles and makeup artistry by Garineh, owner of Glamour Cosmetics. Our dapper groom Brooks wore a custom tailored blue suit with a soft blue tie complimented by a textural boutonniere of pampas grass and white blooms.

The spaces of this editorial included a seaside ceremony on the beach, an al fresco dinner under a dreamy cabana of billowing off-white fabric and mixed rattan pendant lights executed by the incredible team at Ryan Designs, as well as a send off by the ocean with a floral adorned white Jeep Wrangler from Platinum Auto’s Cape Cod Jeep Rentals. Shawna from the Wild Dahlia took the color palette and textural inspiration to the next level and designed a complete floral story of composed florals that brought the entire aesthetic together. With the use of pampas grasses, bunny tail grass and bleached white ruscus instead of the usual greenery, the applique detail of Sloane’s gown and the woven details of the rentals flowed seamlessly with the floral design. A statement bouquet of blooms including an array of neutral garden roses and an unusual and rare peony referred to as the “brownie” peony was tied with light blue silk ribbon and carried by our gorgeous bride. Our tablescape and place settings under the cabana included tabletop rentals from Party Rental LTD, and some of the highlights included the mid-century modern Alexander Elmwood chairs, a wheat woven linen, white pottery chargers, gold flatware, a mixture of modern glassware and woven fans mixed with white fringe napkins set with a personalized menu card atop including woven textured place cards designating each guest’s seat.

The centerpieces included neutral blooms and grasses in white clay handmade vessels with sandstone taper candles placed in between. To bring the design and color palette full circle, our talented baker Nancy of Silver Whisk Bake Shop created a four tiered cake including the soft blues of the color palette, the couple’s monogram from the stationery and a seagrass basket inspired base layer all against the basket wall installation of the Newport Beach House. At the end of the celebration, Sloane and Brooks changed into their getaway outfits (including a beautiful two-piece white number from Gal Meets Glam) and hopped into the white Jeep wrangler with blooms surrounding the iconic wheel on the back for a trip down the beach and out of Newport. In addition to the beautiful gallery, a remarkable film created by the extraordinarily talented Greg of Willow Tree Films was created to showcase the feeling of the day and the elements as guests would experience them. This editorial was an absolute dream to conceptualize with an all-star team of vendors, and we hope this design inspires those couples hoping infuse interior design into their own celebrations.

We Found the Best Spot in Italy for an Old-World Wedding Vibe

If you find yourself throwing out words like ‘old-world’ and ‘fine-art’ when it comes to your own wedding, then this one is for you, friend. Dreamt up by Designs by Hemingway and K.R. Moreno, this editorial—set at La Badia Di Orvieto—is the definition of rustic elegance, complete with three gorgeous gowns, candlelight and the most beautiful blooms you ever did see. Go pin crazy babes, I know you want to!

From Designs by Hemingway… My inspiration for the design of this shoot was the incredible crumbling picturesque arched terraced view overlooking the beautiful olive grove cliffs in the Umbria region of Italy. The feeling is surreal almost like you have become part of a painting. The visual beauty is everywhere you look from the frescoes to the Tuscan landscape surrounding the hotel. The architecture of the historical ruins makes La Badia a perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding. As a floral designer, this was like being in a dream with a blank canvas to create my heart’s desire!

The Romanesque chapel with its gorgeous mosaic marble floors all cut by hand was so inspiring. I designed a romantic altar of vintage lite taper candles that created a romantic moody backdrop for our intimate morning shoot with the bride. We foraged for olive branches to create a dramatic lush ceremony backdrop at the entry to the chapel. My favorite part of our day was creating a beautiful table top next to the terraced oval arch overlooking the olive groves. The beautiful details of layering of silks and gauze draping the ground, lush florals in brass and copper vessels, beautiful candles and all the finishing touches made this my favorite tabletop to date.

From K.R. Moreno… In each scene created, we wanted to show off the potential this venue has. The intention behind each vignette we created was to inspire. We wanted to step out of the obvious choice for a ceremony and use the chapel doors and entrance way as opposed to the actual chapel. The result was a ceremony with the gorgeous arch installation. Every corner of the venue contains such beauty so my pro tip for brides is to not be afraid to choose the unexpected for portions of their day. The tower and ruins of La Badia can be seen from the clifftop town of Orvieto leading you straight to the venue and providing the perfect backdrop for a wedding. I chose this tower as the setting for the majority of portraits to inspire brides on how to incorporate the architecture of this venue in their portraits. The sun sets behind the lawn in front of the tower creating that golden, glowy atmosphere that is gorgeous for your Bride and Groom Portraits.

Laundry Rooms So Good, You’ll Beg to Do Laundry

I promise you, if my laundry room looked even close to one of these spaces, I would gladly wash and fold my days away. Some are huge (like first apartment kind of big) and some are closet size, but they all have one thing in common… they’re total knockouts. Get inspired to add a little pep in your laundry step with one of these beauties.

That ‘70s Glow! This Vintage-Inspired, Sunset Palette Will Make You Swoon

When we first laid eyes on this wedding’s color palette, it was love. Swirling, sunset colors of peach, amber, coral, mustard… we were done. But the palette was just the start of our love affair with this wedding, which was inspired by the bride’s favorite decade of style, the 1970s. With the help of Westcott Weddings, the ‘70s got a major glow-up with modern details that feel so fresh. From punchy blooms by Remi + Gold to chic lounge styling by Birch & Brass, every detail combines vintage sensibility with modern romance. And when the bride owns a paper goods & signage company—the aptly named Peach Paper + Design— you can expect the invitations to be some of the prettiest ever. Sophie Epton captured every last vintage detail to perfection, and you can see it all unfold in the full gallery!

From the photographer, Sophie Epton… What a day for Megan + Tyler! This was one of the most unique and beautiful weddings I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this year, and I’m so excited to be sharing it with Style Me Pretty! Since our bride, Megan, is in the wedding industry (she owns an incredible paper goods + signage company called Peach Paper + Design in Austin, TX) we knew she was going to plan an unbelievable wedding!

From the beginning, Megan knew that she wanted to pair a favorite decade of color and design with a throwback to the 1970s, but make it fresh and modern for today.

The wedding day was laced with gorgeous hues of mustards, yellows, peaches, pinks, greens, corals and amber that was such a fun pop of color and ode to the 1970s, including Megan’s mustard velvet linens from La Tavola, a serious favorite! Remi + Gold provided all the stunning, romantic florals that were a perfect balance to the decor while still keeping the look fresh and modern- and that floral tree for the ceremony?! To die for!

After a beautiful sun-drenched ceremony at the Greenhouse at Driftwood, guests got to enjoy the cocktail hour of the year with beautiful Birch & Brass leather and velvet lounges, an amazing food spread (including pretzels and beer cheese, an homage to the groom!) and they even had a 1970s style camper and lounge where a special choice of cocktails were mixed all night!

Guests dined and danced all night under a Sperry tent and the stars. And of course, with the bride owning her own paper goods company, she was able to provide so many bespoke pieces for the wedding- from the beautiful mustard and coral invitation suite, to the hand-pressed flowers used in all of her table numbers, to the fantastic illustrations of her own dogs (who the signature cocktails were named after!).

Megan’s touch on all of these pieces made for a wedding that was so uniquely her and was such a thrill to photograph. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I did capturing them!

Looking for Your Dream Garden Wedding Venue? This One Might Be It.

While some go straight for the dress, I’m a sucker for venues. That was the first priority on my wedding planning wishlist and for good reason. The setting for your celebration can inspire and set the tone for your day. And if all things garden wedding is on your agenda, you must meet Franciscan Gardens, my friends. It was the setting for these college sweetheart’s I dos and it’s perfect. With Klink Events on planning and Lucy Munoz with her lens in hand, there’s a whole lot more below that’ll convince you to tour this spot yourself.

How did you meet?

We met in college at a fraternity/sorority philanthropic event. We started out as just friends working towards the same cause (City of Hope Cancer Research Center) then over the years, we got to know each other better and our love grew organically.

Tell us about your proposal…

We were celebrating our 6-year anniversary and Christian surprised me with a stay at the Mission Inn Hotel in Riverside (the city where we met in college) and dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant in town. The next day, we drove to Laguna Beach where we hiked down to the base of a cliff to watch the sunset. Little did I know that Christian had pre-arranged a “picnic” style set up on the beach – complete with a blanket, beautiful bouquet of roses and a scrapbook he made with our memories. When he proposed, we both started tearing up. Luckily, Christian hired a photographer to capture it all and we did a mini photo session during golden hour. Then we went to dinner and as I walked into the restaurant, our families and my best friends were there to surprise me! It was a day that I’ll never forget.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress?

I actually found “the dress” at the second bridal store I visited. I knew I wanted to be a simple and classic bride for my wedding day and my Lazaro dress fit the bill. I immediately fell in love!

What was the inspiration behind your wedding style?

We’ve always been a classic and simple couple and wanted our wedding style to reflect that so we kept the entire day both timeless and effortless, which allowed our true selves and our love for each other come through. An organic and romantic aesthetic felt natural to us – everything from the soft neutral florals with unstructured greenery, to the traditional and romantic design of our invitation suite.

Why did you choose this location?

We always knew we loved al fresco dining + dancing under the stars so as soon as we saw Franciscan Gardens in San Juan Capistrano, we fell in love with the intimate venue which was surrounded by lush greens and twinkling lights which would make the perfect setting for a memorable day.

Describe your wedding flowers…

Soft whites, light champagnes, unstructured greenery with an airy and organic feel, a romantic and natural floral aesthetic

Favorite detail of the day…

Driving away from the church as husband and wife in my in-laws classic vintage Mercedes Benz convertible and BOMB sliders as a late night snack while our guests danced.

What advice would you give out to a couple planning their wedding?

This may sound cliché but through all the planning madness, don’t forget that this day is about you and your significant other.

Most memorable moment?

Walking down the aisle. We decided to have our first look at this moment instead of beforehand and I’ll never forget it as Christian teared up as I walked down the aisle.

Tell us a little about your honeymoon…

We hopped around Italy and visited several cities that gave us a little taste of city life (Rome and Florence) and the coastline (Amalfi Coast). We loved Florence for its architecture and cuisine, Positano for its picturesque views, and Rome for its history and culture. Also lots and lots of pasta and wine!

Is there anything you would change or do differently?

Slow down time, I wish we had more time to spend with our family and friends instead of feeling rushed.

This Couple Got Married at a Zoo and the Result Is Wild!

It’s not everyday we see a gorgeous wedding at a…. pause for dramatic effect… ZOO! That’s right, this adorable bride and groom tied the knot at the Santa Barbara Zoo surrounded by lions and tigers and family and friends ;) Jenn Sanchez Design designed every detail of their day, bringing the couple’s old-school safari theme to life. Our favorite part? The bridesmaids chose their own dresses in various shades of gold and we can’t even tell you how obsessed we are with their gowns. Trust us, you’ll want to see every image in this full gallery captured by Lacie Hansen.

From the Bride… Nick and I met in Boston when I was a senior at Wellesley College and he was working in finance after graduating from Tufts University the year before. I always knew I wanted to get married in Santa Barbara–it is where my mom grew up and my family has a beach house where we spent our weekends. I grew up going to the Santa Barbara Zoo but when I proposed it as a venue, Nick thought it sounded a little strange. When he saw it in person for the first time, he knew it was perfect. It used to be the botanical gardens so it has great foliage and a huge lawn with a view of the ocean. Nick and I had always talked about going on safari for our honeymoon (and went on safari in in December) so an old school safari theme seemed perfectly appropriate for both us, and the venue.

Jenn Sanchez who did the florals and the design immediately understood the aesthetic we were going for and channeled a lot of vintage Ralph Lauren vibes in the design. I wore a white Alexander McQueen gown that I picked because of the details like the high neck and buttons that reminded me of a traditional Chinese gown and the floral embroidery that reminded me of the beautiful foliage at the Zoo. I asked my grandmother for something old and borrowed she came up with my great grandmother’s jade bracelet from my grandfather’s side. My grandfather passed away a few weeks after Nick and I got engaged so it was extra special to have something from his mother with me. For beauty I used TEAM Hair and Makeup and they were so fantastic and fun.

I had 8 bridesmaids and after realizing that it would be hard to find a dress flattering to everyone, I asked them to pick their own dresses as long as it stayed in the gold family. They also picked their own beauty looks and accessories and it was an amazing representation of their unique personalities and it made the day that more special to me. While my sister/maid of honor was supposed to wear gold too, when we saw an Alexander McQueen dress with the signature jeweled neck I knew it was meant to be and I threw out the gold idea for her.

Nick wore a custom white silk and mohair Isaia dinner jacket and Rubinacci Belgian slippers with Ace & Everrett green and yellow socks that he matched with his groomsmen. He also wore custom jade and diamond cufflinks and studs made for him with his family crest engraved on the back that I gave him as a wedding present.

In the middle of our pastor’s sermon, the lion started roaring in the background and it really made the whole ceremony even happier because no one could stop laughing. After we tied the knot, the string quartet played The Beatle’s “Here Comes the Sun” as the recessional. During cocktail hour, we had a “flamingle” where our guests got to interact with the flamingos as well as feed the giraffes and take a train ride around the zoo. We love how clear the sky is in Santa Barbara compared to Los Angeles so we opted for a clear tent so we could see the sky at night. During the reception, I changed into an Alexander Wang jumpsuit and our guests also got to document the night in our MirMir photobooth until our after party at the Deep Sea Tasting Room on the Santa Barbara Pier where we had In N Out burgers and fries waiting for everyone.

A House Of Hipsters (and Design Lovers)

Don’t play it safe, have fun, and mix the old with the new. These design mantras definitely ring true when it comes to decorating for Kyla Herbes. If you haven’t dug deep into her blog, House of Hipsters, or her Instagram, you’re in for a treat! If we had to describe Kyla’s home in one word – it would be fun! The mix of color, pattern, vintage, and new, create that effortlessly cool vibe that makes you feel like you’re in presence of real style. And not only can you see for yourself below, but Kyla has just opened up her first brick and mortar! The House Of Hipsters Vintage & Antiques Shop, just outside of Chicago, is full of amazing vintage finds to add that cool factor to your own home.  Take a tour through Kyla’s home and get her design tips!

I love art and have a strange obsession with nudes. You’ll find them scattered throughout the house.

FOYER

When I decided to wallpaper my foyer closet, people thought I was insane. I installed Divine Savages “Crane Fonda” and couldn’t be happier with the results. You can’t see it here, but it matches the pink front door. And yes, this closet is always empty. The messy one is the closet by the mudroom. It’s definitely not as pretty. The house is in constant flux much to The Boy’s dismay. However, my children don’t seem to mind the changes. You’ll notice the lamp tends to change out here quite often!

FAMILY ROOM

Readers of the blog think I’m crazy for owning white sofas. But if you purchase them upholstered in performance fabric, you really can’t go wrong. Any spills or stains come right out…even with a 6 and 9 year old. This sofa is by Jonathan Louis and is called Hudson. It might be the comfiest sofa in the house. This is where you’ll find the kids sprawled out and giggling.

Every space is a work in progress. Since painting my grandmother’s hutch in the dining room, I’ve been tempted to paint some of the brick white on the fireplace. It would just brighten up the room. Not all of it, but the top portion at least.

Also, every plant in my home is faux. Anything real silently screams when I near it.

The built-ins drove me crazy for almost 2 years. I think I styled them until my fingers bled. They just looked cluttered every single time. Finally I landed on this minimal look. White sculptural pieces with a few neutrals mixed in.

The MCM wood loungers may look vintage, but they aren’t. They’re handcrafted by South Of Urban our of Altlanta.

DINING ROOM

When I make design changes to the dining room, my Instagram followers tend to have a minor freak out. Recently I swapped out an old wooden table and I thought I broke the design for a couple days. After a bunch of pushing around furniture an a panic attack, this is probably my favorite iteration of the space. The entire process including freak out was documented on Stories.

Picasso print is from The Savoy Flea (It was the first thing I brought into the house on closing day. I hung it here and might be the only thing that hasn’t moved since.)

The hutch belonged to my great grandmother — a piece that I debated on painting for years. So glad I did! The original wood finish was kept on the inside. I love the black and brown mix.

FRONT ROOM

This is what we call the front room. The Boy and I hang out here pretty much every night before the kids go to sleep. There’s no TV…just family talk and laughter allowed. This is also where you can find my drinking my morning coffee and checking Instagram.

The front room was one of the first rooms I decorated in the house. Although it’s a favorite hang out space, I’m secretly dying to give it a makeover. For the most part, it’s remained the same for 3 years. I think it’s time for a switcheroo. When I get this itch for change, I like to shop my house first and push around some furniture. If my home were to ever burn down, besides grabbing my children, this would be the one piece I’d risk my life for and if I had time, this vintage sheep footstool.

One of my favorite games to play is, “is it new or vintage?” The house always wins.

This painting was a complete score from a local estate sale. I had no idea who the artist was until I shared it on my Instagram Stories. A follower who was an art major gave me the surprise of a lifetime. It’s an original Gino Hollander and I bought not one, but two of his paintings from the same sale.

I often get asked, “Who are the three dudes in the portraits?” Well, they are three (now legendary) graffiti artists shot by New York photographer Lani Lee. When I purchased them, I didn’t have a blog or an Instagram. Fast forward a few years when my living room was regrammed by Pottery Barn, the three artists were shocked to say the least…especially when there’s less than 5 of these prints out there.

These Milo Baughman parson chairs were purchased from The Savoy Flea. The day she found them, she texted me a photo, and I knew they had to be mine. The Boy hated them and said absolutely not After 6 months, they miraculously hadn’t sold. I somehow convinced The Boy to cave and now this is his favorite chair…not to look at but to sit in. They are incredibly comfortable. If you look closely, you’ll spy a photo of Nicholas Cage. When I returned from speaking at the Design Influencer’s Conference, my husband pranked me by doing a little redecorating. Nicholas Cage was hidden in every room. Just this one remains, and it makes me giggle every time I look at it.

OFFICE

If I’m working in my office or on a conference call, I’ll probably be sitting here.

This white washed cabinet, in Sherwin Williams Snowbound, was an estate sale find and holds all my absolute favorite treasures.

BATHROOMS

My son declared this bathroom Potty Paradise when we gave it a makeover. This powder room is on the main floor and might be the tiniest room in the house with the biggest personality. The idea was to create such a stunning jewelry box guests would forget they had to pee. It’s worked.

After Potty Paradise, I became obsessed with wallpaper. This powder room was gutted right after the first bathroom. The paper is from Anthropologie, the subway and penny tile are from Clé Tile. The wooden ladder was a flea market find. Unbeknownst to me, that Brizo by Jason Woo black matte faucet is touch and motion sensored. I didn’t figure this magic out until I took a tour of their headquarters. The look of shock and awe was hilarious. Now I love to wash my hands in this bathroom.

GUEST ROOM

Meet the guest bedroom. The vintage leather headboard is an old gym mat I shipped here from Prague. I think the mailman thought he was delivering a dead body the day that arrived. The Boy asked me what on earth was in the plastic bag. My response was, “Don’t ask, just help me get it upstairs.”

And although I’d love to lower it a bit and paint or wallpaper the wall, I need to give the pain of engineering it up there a rest before I ask The Boy to touch it again.

MASTER BEDROOM

The master bedroom is a work in progress. A room I loved in my old house, but nothing fit quite right in the new house. What will I do in here? Only time will tell.

What do you do with an odd sitting room outside your master bedroom? It’s become a nice quiet hiding spot from the kids. Yes, when I need a little break and you can’t find me or The Boy, look here.

A Naval Submarine Officer and a Kindergarten Teacher Elope on the Rooftop at Seattle City Hall!

In just a few short weeks, the lovely team at Callista and Co. and this adorable couple planned the most romantic and unique courthouse elopement we have ever seen. The bride couldn’t have looked more beautiful in her sleek, modern BLHDN gown. Gather Design Company created clean arrangements that perfectly matched the blush and cream color scheme of the day. Just WAIT until you see the sun-soaked photos captured by Anna Peters of their ceremony on the rooftop (yup, the rooftop!!) of Seattle City Hall…. everything about this day is intimate, romantic and everything a wedding should be about. Prepare to fall in love at the full gallery.

From the bride… With an upcoming move to Hawaii, it was very important to us, to bring a strong sense of place to our marriage celebration, since we met and fell in love in the Pacific Northwest. We knew from the start that we wanted an intimate, family only wedding, which allowed us to select meaningful and personal venues for the day.

Geoff is a naval submarine officer, and I am a kindergarten teacher. We began dating when we lived a ferry ride apart from each other. Despite the distance and countless ferry rides, we fell in love. When it came to planning our wedding, we both knew that we wanted to incorporate both the Seattle side, the peninsula side, and the ferry into our day. We got ready separately at The Pleasant Beach Inn on Bainbridge Island, and took an afternoon ferry for our first look in a hidden, peaceful corner of downtown Seattle.

From there, we met our families at the Seattle Courthouse where we said our vows on the sunny rooftop overlooking Seattle, with the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains in the background. We hosted a cocktail hour at Drygoods Design before enjoying a sunset ferry back to Bainbridge Island for our reception dinner.

We wanted to combine classic elegance with simplicity and restraint, to create a timeless ambiance. Coming from South Carolina, Geoff wanted to wear a tuxedo to capture the formality of the occasion. With my west coast roots, I was drawn towards soft and simple design elements. Using our backgrounds as inspiration, Gather Design Company and Callista & Company conceptualized a formal yet contemporary design, featuring blush and cream spring flowers, textured linens from, decorative chargers and flatware from, clean stemware, and modern paper goods with organic touches.

When I was thinking about my dress, I wanted something that felt both simple and elegant. I fell in love with a sleek, graceful gown from BHLDN and black Bella Belle heels that complemented the formality of Geoff’s tuxedo. I had planned to wear a simple set of pearl earrings, but Geoff gifted me a beautiful pair of modern pearl Celine earrings on our wedding day, so of course I wore those!

It’s No Surprise These Bride’s Want to Move to the City Where They Said I Do

With an existing love for Charleston, Stephanie and Ashley knew they had to go venue scouting in the area while there as guests for another family wedding. They took one look at Magnolia Plantation and knew it was the spot for their own celebration. Tara Nicole Weddings guided them in planning a happy, colorful day that was uniquely them. It’s quite apparent from Danielle Harris‘ snaps that these beautiful Brides were simply bursting with joy and understandable while it’s their goal to one day move there. See their day unfold below!

From Danielle Harris PhotographyStephanie & Ashley were married at the beautiful Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. I would venture to say that this southern city produces some of the most romantic weddings on earth, and the charm of Charleston never disappoints. The wedding was filled with vibrant colors, thoughtful touches, and guests spanning from five states to watch these two say their vows. The love and joy of the day was contagious and you couldn’t help smiling at the excitement that filled the air. I’m so excited to share just a few of my favorites.

Where do you end a wedding as epic as Stephanie & Ashley’s? Well I think the only way to finish up is with the theme song of the day by the Black Eyed Peas. “Be different. Be nice. Just smile, I promise it’ll change your life”.

From the Brides… We picked Charleston because it is one of our favorite places to visit. The charm of the city along with the beaches, shopping and historic sites you just cant beat. There is something magical about Charleston. We have always wanted to move there it is a goal in the future. So we were vacationing there for my brother and sister in laws wedding and we decided to go to Magnolia for a tour and when we got there I told Ashley this is it. This is the place we are getting married. I was totally and completely in love with it. All of it. The Spanish Moss trees were everything I wanted and dreamed of in my head it was perfectly magical.

When I went to pick out my dress I was not entirely sure of what I wanted but I knew what I was looking for. I wanted class and sophistication but I wanted SEXY. I wanted Ashley to see me and pass out because of how HOT I would be in my dress. This is the first dress I saw the ONLY dress I personally pulled off the rack the first dress I tried on and even though I tried on 7 dresses I knew from the moment I saw it this was MY dress. It was made for me. Everything about it screamed Stephanie.

OHHHH the colors!!! Here is what I knew. I wanted DIFFERENT. I absolutely did NOT want people to say “did you see her colors those are THE wedding colors this year EVERYONES using them.” Our personalities are very big and bold and there was no way my colors or my flowers or makeup for that matter were going to be anything but that! The usual pale pinks, blues, whites, Ivy, champagnes and all of the other pretty but boring mess that is a thing right now just isn’t MY thing. It isn’t OUR thing. Summer makes me HAPPY sunshine puts me in a fantastic mood and gives me energy and excitement . That’s the vibe I wanted in our wedding happy excited great energy!! Those colors to me are bright pink, yellow, orange, purple, blue and whatever else you want to throw in there.

Special touches…

1. We love the plantation house. Those types of houses come with these beautiful skeleton keys for unlocking those perfectly old doors. So as our wedding favors we purchased skeleton keys for our guests but added a modern touch by making them bottle openers!

2. Southern China is BIG in any southern family event. Coming from North Carolina where my grandmother always had her crystal China out for any special occasion I knew China was a must. We were so lucky to find a great southern china piece that encompassed all the colors of the wedding.

3. Ashley being an Art Major actually made the “It was always you sign”

Traditions: 1. Ashley’s grandmother, grandfather and little brother have all passed away. The family brings their pictures to every family event we have so that they are always there with us.

2. HAHAHHA Ashley’s something blue shoes!!

Decisions…

1. We made every single one of our playlist from ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing we hand picked each and every song that was played. This made the wedding keep the feel and the vibe we wanted at each section and made it very special and tailored to us.

2. Liam my 6 year old walked me down the aisle.

3. We wrote our own vows…I actually prepared mine weeks in advance. Ashley, you know she made them up there on the spot hahaha.

4. Unplugged ceremony. I wanted to make sure no one and their crazy cell phones got in the way of our pictures!!

Favorite moments of the day…

1. The whole day start to finish was amazing BUT I loved my first look with Ashley. I am so Happy that we had that alone time together and I am so happy it was just us and you without friends and family it was perfect.

2. I LOVED taking pictures all of the pictures we could have done that all. day. long.

3. I loved walking in with Ashley when we were announced at reception!! It hit me like its my turn to be the bride!! I LOVED that moment.

4. I loved the first dance with Ashley.

5. I loved Liam walking me down the aisle.

6. I loved the MOH toasts they were so on point and FUN!!

7. I REALLY loved watching Ashley with all of her crazy speeches, hahaha!

Ashley’s Favorites…

1. Seeing me for the first time.

2. Taking pictures with Danielle because she is SO FUN and she would hang out with you allllll day long.

3. Loved the dance party we had at reception.

Ultimate Guide to Wedding Day Transportation for Your Guests

If your guests aren’t local to your wedding city and your venue is at a different location from your hotel, you’ll need to plan for safe and efficient transportation for your friends and family. Especially if you have over 100 guests, you’ll need to make sure guest transportation is pre-determined and organized for a stress-free evening. Our ultimate guide to wedding day transportation will fill you in on all of the options you have for guest travel to and from the venue!

Encouraging Ride Share Transportation

One of the easiest methods of organizing guest transportation is to let them do it themselves via a ride sharing app like Lyft. This method removes stress for the couple and is a great option if travel time is minimal. I personally recommend this for rides at or under 20 minutes and would encourage guests to group together for a more cost-effective solution. Technically guests could drive themselves with a rental car, but I always encourage otherwise so there’s no risk of drinking and driving. Safety first!

Bridal Party Only Transportation

If travel time is minimal and you’re comfortable with most guests driving or ride sharing to the venue, you could opt to book a bus, limo, or trolley shuttle that only transports you, your spouse, and the bridal party. Most likely your bus only needs to seat 8-20 people, depending on your number of bridesmaids and groomsmen, so the cost of the transportation service would be more manageable than booking it for all wedding guests. Plus, you’ll have a fun ride with your bridal party to and from each venue!

On the note of cost, pricing for group transportation vary widely based on the number of passengers and the amount of hours you book the vehicle(s) to cover the initial pickup/drop-off to the end of the evening pickup and drop-off. In general, expect to spend between $50-$150 per hour for each vehicle.

Booking Bus or Shuttle Transportation for All Guests

If travel time between venues is more than 30 minutes from the wedding hotel or your venue lacks adequate parking, I recommend hiring buses or shuttles to transport all of your guests to the venue. Especially if the drive is over 40 minutes, your friends and family will appreciate having transportation provided for them and they’ll love being able to mingle with everyone on the bus. Although you’ll need to foot the bill for pre-arranged transport, it’s a sensible line item on your budget that will be greatly appreciated by guests and ensures everybody is safe.

Most transportation companies offer vehicles with anywhere from 8 to 55 seats. Reach out to a few companies at least 3-4 months before the wedding with your estimated guest count. Once you know your final count and have determined which company to move forward with, ask them what combination of vehicles will be most cost effective for you according to your guest count.

Hiring a Vintage Car

Obviously you wouldn’t hire dozens and dozens of vintage cars for your entire wedding crew, though you can book one for you and your spouse. Not only is a vintage car a very fun way to get from location to location, it’s also gorgeous in photos. It’s hard not to take an amazing image of a couple romantically posed around or within an elegant car!

Important Transportation Logistics

Whether you’re hiring a transportation service for your bridal party, all guests, or only you and your spouse, here are a few key logistics to be aware of before completing your booking:

  • Always estimate that travel time will take longer than Google maps might indicate. Padding your travel time is the best way to ensure you’re prepared for anything that could otherwise make you late.
  • Ensure the transportation company supplies the pickup and drop-off times to the driver, as well as the exact locations for each destination. Nothing’s worse than a late or lost driver!
  • Tipping the drivers of a private car service is a standard practice that you’ll want to budget for ahead of time.
  • Inform all of your guests of the pickup location and time. If you know you have chronically late friends or family members, it’s not a bad idea to pass along a pickup time that’s 10-15 minutes earlier than departure.

When The Chance of Rain is Less Than 1% on Their Wedding Day…And It Rains

It is no secret that every bride-to-be spends too much time checking weather apps, statistics, etc. to ensure that it does not rain on their wedding day. Today’s bride did exactly that and with a less than 1% chance of rain, it poured! All of the vendors rallied together for ‘Plan B’ which looking at the photos by The Ganey’s, it’s hard to believe this was a backup plan. Lily & Mint Floral Co. wow’d with overflowing bouquets and floral arrangements and Going Lovely transformed the new ceremony location into the most romantic backdrop to exchange ‘I Do’s!’ Take a peek at Annie and Tim’s Silverado Resort wedding below….and save that stunning rain shot to your Pinterest boards!

From The Ganey’sAnnie and Tim’s Silverado Resort wedding didn’t exactly go as planned – thanks to the weather – but that made this day even more special! When Annie was picking their wedding date, she did a 10-year statistical analysis that proved there was less than a 1% chance of rain on their wedding day. All of the vendors came together, pulling together a beautiful “plan B” that was equally stunning!

Annie wore the prettiest Pronovias gown. Her illusion neckline included lace detailing that crawled up her back. She wore a diamond necklace, gifted to her by Tim’s family. Lily & Mint created the perfect bouquet for her – filled with roses, ranunculus, and greenery.

With the rain pouring down, we opted to do the first look on the wraparound porch. Tim was so excited to see his bride! Shortly after, the wedding party joined us. The bridesmaids wore dusty blue dresses with mismatched necklines.

The tea ceremony took place in one of the rooms in Silverado Resort’s main buildings. Annie changed into a traditional red dress and adorned family jewelry. One by one, family members came up and Annie and Tim served them tea. Well wishes were whispered and hugs were plentiful!

The wedding ceremony “plan B” was held in a tent – and it was stunning! Complete with circular chandeliers, an arch, and four lush arrangements, it couldn’t have been more beautiful. The aisle was lined with greenery and candles. It is hard to believe this wasn’t the original plan! Tim and Annie exchanged personal vows. It is so clear that these two complement each other in the best way! Towards the end of the ceremony, they both gifted their families an arrangement of flowers as a thank you for everything they’ve done that has lead them to this point.

The wedding reception was stunning. At every place, guests were welcomed with a wood laser cut place card at their seat. The velvet linens were the perfect touch. A three-tiered cake with gold detailing and florals sat beside Annie and Tim’s sweetheart table.

The reception began with Annie and Tim’s first dance and then continued onto toasts. My favorite part was when Tim and Annie’s mom performed “Everything” for Annie. We’ve never seen a live performance like that at a wedding – and Tim did an amazing job singing! Once the dance floor opened, this group was ready to party! The floor was packed nonstop – we were so impressed with everyone’s moves!

Say Hello To a Classic Charleston Wedding That’ll Knock Your Socks Off

You know when people say it’s a small world? Well, it really is. Upon first look of this fete from Shannon Moffit, the Bride looked strikingly familiar to me. You see, on my very own honeymoon four years ago, my husband and I met a couple staying at our hotel. We ended up spending a bit of time with them and afterward I stayed connected with Michelle on social media. This beautiful Bride is her twin sister. And oh, is she a stunning Bride! Their Charleston affair will surely dazzle you with its classic details. See it all unfold below.

From Shannon Moffit Photography… Colleen and Justin met on the back patio of Old Glory Bar-B-Que, a now-shuttered restaurant in Georgetown, Washington D.C., that was once a hot-spot for the early-20s crowd. The pair had a steadfast long distance relationship for many years until finally getting the opportunity to settle down and tie the knot.

Colleen and Justin are quite an adventurous and joyful couple. They love to travel, laugh, and spend time with family–so it was only fitting that they host their destination wedding in one of their favorite cities, historic Charleston, South Carolina. Colleen and Justin’s wedding reflected the character and vibe the city has to offer–warm, welcoming, and sophisticated.

Colleen wore a custom Elizabeth Fillmore wedding gown two different ways; she was able to remove a skirt layer and the cap sleeves for a sleeker nighttime look. She also wore embellished Dolce & Gabbana heels and carried an understated bouquet of white hellebores. The groom also changed his look from his military uniform to a white tuxedo, just in time for their rooftop cocktail hour.

The couple chose to have their reception at The Dewberry, an old federal building repurposed as a luxury boutique hotel. The space echoes Charleston’s historic charm and architectural grace with a quaint walled garden and intimate ballroom–complete with herringbone floors and a breathtaking brass and crystal palmetto chandelier.

Some other details include: a letterpress invitation with custom pineapple embossing and envelope liner, suede lunchbox gift bags with engraved whiskey stones and Yeti koozies for groomsmen, and rattan chargers, modern gold table numbers, and white poppies, tulips, and cotton on the family-style tables at the reception.

To further prove how adventurous and fun this couple is…they spent their honeymoon skiing and relaxing in The Dolomites (Corvara and Cortina d’Ampezzo in the Italian Alps) and Kitzbuhel, Austria.

Real Grooms Share Their Best Advice on The Wedding Planning Process

When we consider who to ask for wedding advice, we think of planners, designers, parents, and maybe that one friend of your mother’s—you know, the one who is always polishing up her silver and hosting some ‘little party.’ We call our friends up for wine and hope they’ll divulge stories from their own planning days. And we maybe only rarely think to ask grooms for advice—our own groom or any other. After all, guys don’t really have strong opinions about the wedding planning process, right? Au contraire. Take it from these real grooms, who have lived through those planning days and are the wiser for it. After reading their advice, we guarantee it: you’ll want to call up your guy to tell him you love him (and maybe even get his thoughts on cake flavors. ‘Tasting date soon?’ xoxo).

Photography: Dear Lovers

1.    Offer emotional support

When asked if they had any advice to share with other grooms, our interviewees agreed: the most precious gift a groom can give is his presence. A bride may not necessarily need her groom’s opinion or creative input—but she will always long for his support, and find rest in the reassurance that he is standing there beside her. “Do whatever you can to ensure that she has a peaceful space [in you],” urges real groom Talyn. “I found that listening and offering myself as a sounding board was pivotal.” Mark echoes this idea of providing a safe place to work out problems; the planning process, he notes, provides “a perfect time to prove how supportive you can be for years to come.” The planning process is placed on the pathway to marriage and, viewed rightly, is a rich training ground for married life. All of the traits we value most in marriage—deep trust, abiding love, and unwavering faithfulness—have ample room for expression in the planning process.

2. Help her stay organized

If emotional support is key, that doesn’t mean that grooms should just sit idly by and offer platitudes about how it’s all going to be ok. Real, practical help is the way to a bride’s heart, and help with even the simplest organizational tasks can be a saving grace. “When your fiancée thinks of a question she needs to ask a certain vendor,” notes Mark, “write it down. Chances are,” he continues, “she’s juggling 72 different questions and could use some help keeping them organized.” Take notes, dear grooms, and think of little ways to keep things tidy; upload timelines to your Dropbox account, put meetings in your calendar, and save vendors as contacts. Even these small tasks demonstrate your love and care.

3. Tackle the guest list

When it comes time to formulate a guest list, it shouldn’t be up to the bride to make all the cruel cuts. Talyn’s candor is refreshing; looking back on the process, he says, “don’t do what I did and just say, ‘Yeah babe, I’m just going to invite my friends and family…’” Instead, he encourages grooms to take full responsibility for at least 50% of that list, and handle it without complaint. After all, the absolute last thing a bride needs to try and determine is “which one of your old football teammates” makes the cut.

Photography: Sposto Photography

4.  Express interest—even if you don’t have strong opinions

Even the savviest, most self-possessed bride has (she will freely admit) dreamed a little about her wedding. “While this day is exciting for us grooms,” notes Mark, brides “have been dreaming of it for years and years.” (Easy, boys—it’s not like we spend our free nights polishing our tiaras and Pinterest-ing. Not every free night, anyway.). Talyn admits that grooms “don’t really care about centerpieces” like brides do– or seasonal flowers or the height of the tapers and nuances of color palette. But do you know what grooms do care about? Their brides. It isn’t about perfecting the table design, says Talyn; it’s about what a privilege it is to be a part of her life and innermost dreams, and “if she asks for your opinion and involves you in the discussion, take advantage of that opportunity.”

Photography: Heather Payne

5.   Serve one another

One of the sweetest ways our real grooms approached wedding planning was as an opportunity to serve their brides. The planning process, reflects Talyn, “is a time to become as selfless as you possibly can be.” In its most ideal form, the planning process is an incredible exercise in service; as grooms place their brides’ hopes and dreams before their own, they make tangible those promises to support her. Talyn puts it nicely: “This service will also speak to her heart and let her know just how much she means to you.”

Photography: Kati Rosado Photography

6.  Hire a dream team

When you hire a dream team of vendors and planners, you essentially give your bride the equivalent of consecutive spa weekends. For the sake of your wedding planning, your health, and happiness, surround yourself with an experienced team of vendors, and trust them implicitly. This will free you up as a couple to focus on your marriage and leave your wedding in your vendors’ capable hands. When it comes to selecting vendors, says Mark, “The more organized, the better” and if you choose professionals who “keep an open line of communication, you can rest much easier.” Talyn likewise emphasizes the importance of hiring an experienced vendor team:

7.  Handle the Rehearsal Dinner

At this stage in your relationship, you may share finances, and you may not; your family may be contributing to the wedding expenses, and then again maybe not. Regardless, a groom’s offer to handle the rehearsal dinner will forever be gentlemanly—a timeless, classy gesture. Mark puts it simply: “The rehearsal dinner should be taken care of by the groom. She’s already got more than enough to deal with.” So, with a little help from her best friend or mom, plan an alfresco dinner or book a chic restaurant, and treat her to a gorgeous last night of being engaged.

8.  Reconcile yourself to the fact that it will be stressful

When pressure mounts and things go wrong, it’s easiest to just admit it: wedding planning is stressful. Saying it out loud can feel like surrender—suddenly the weight is lifted. Once you reconcile yourself to that fact that planning is difficult, you free yourself up to find solutions– and maybe even encounter grace. “Stresses will inevitably come,” admits Talyn, “There really isn’t any way around it at times.” But viewing the planning process as an opportunity to serve Jordan, his wife, brought him back time and again, he says. Looking at wedding planning through the lens of his faith and his love for Jordan, Talyn found that “even the most mundane and tedious tasks” could be made in the service of something higher.

When your plans get snagged on a difficulty, look for a growth opportunity. And take a moment to reaffirm all that you know to be true– your love is so capable of surviving this, and that love is expanding and deepening and enriching with every trial you overcome.

9.  Find your problem-solving style

If anything, wedding planning comes with a kind of built-in couples’ therapy. The planning process illumines personality traits— conflicts as well as strengths—and gives a couple the opportunity to find a shared voice and problem-solving style. Mark found that, while he and his fiancée Nikki have very different styles, they should get jerseys, cause they make a great team (s/o to the readers who are old enough to mentally sing that last part):

“I feel like all of the stresses happened internally. No matter what situation created the stress, everything is dealt with between the couple and/or family. I’m the type to laugh these situations off, much unlike my fiancée. You’ve got to find a balance and deal with everything together. We are in the process of building the foundation for our life and future family. From here on out, we have to work as one.”

Photography: Jeremy Chou Photography

10.  Make it about her

Our grooms stressed again and again that the wedding was about their brides. According to Talyn, “this is her day… As the groom, your level of involvement is dependent upon the dreams of your bride.” Throughout the course of your marriage, you’ll take turns focusing more on one another’s plans and dreams. The guys say that a wedding is one of those times, and supporting their bride came as no sacrifice.

Photography: Heather Payne

11.  Expect things to go wrong—and try to maintain perspective when they do

“The most challenging part of wedding was the day of the actual wedding,” admits Talyn. The best course of action, he continues, is to “root yourself in peace as much as possible. Things will go wrong, and that’s okay.” Such a peaceful, grounded approach will not only benefit the groom but also the bride who has placed her trust in him. Speaking of which…

12.  Shield her from problems the day-of

When it comes to the day of the wedding, the guys stressed that grooms should vigilantly guard their brides’ vision and wedding day experience.  “Don’t let petty issues even go near your bride,” insists Talyn. “She will be getting ready and will be going through all of the emotions of the day… and she does not need to be disturbed.” If the cake delivery is late or seating issues come up, then calmly notify your coordinator—don’t alarm your fiancée. Allow her space to dream and breathe and be in this moment. If she can be spared from knowing about the problem, dear grooms, please spare her.

13.  Savor the little moments

Even the most challenging periods of planning are braided with beautiful moments. The difficulties can seem unrelenting, but suddenly something beautiful breaks through. Maybe the sunlight shimmers through days of rain and uncertainty. Or you walk by your wedding tent, and are overcome by its glowing white beauty. Or you lock eyes across the rehearsal dinner table and remember the reason for everything. Glimmers of hope—however faint—are always there for those who look.

Talyn remembers one such moment the day before his wedding. He and his fiancée had just finished the last bit of wedding prep and decided to steal away for a quick coffee. (A bit of backstory—the couple has a long history with coffee. The local coffee shop played host to their love story and all its stages– meeting, courtship, and proposal.) Over midnight cappuccinos, the realization finally set in. “I just remember soaking in the excitement…we were about to marry one another! The anticipation began to build and it felt like we were kids again.” That simple coffee together, says Talyn, helped the couple hit reset and to restore their excitement in everything. Always look for the littlest moments of joy, and savor them completely.

14.  Fall more deeply in love

Realize that wedding planning, like any great challenge, has the potential to bring a strong couple closer together. In wedding planning, you will find a tangle of conflicts, misfires, family dynamics, and moments of beauty that are not unlike those belonging to married life. These things can overwhelm you, or cause you to turn to one another for solace and understanding. Mark says that he never realized the depth of his love for Nikki was until their love was tested; reflecting back, he says:

“A year ago, when I finally got on one knee, I thought I was head over heels in love and 100% ready to spend the rest of my life with her. Throughout this year, I’ve only fallen more and more in love seeing how determined and strong-willed she is. It really is a hectic time, and she has absolutely rocked it.”

15.  Remember: it’s about a marriage, not a wedding

It may sound cliché, but if you focus exclusively on the wedding, you will almost always find reasons to be overwhelmed. Focus on your marriage instead, and wedding day problems tend to fade. None of those plans are as important or sacred as this commitment. Talyn adds to this idea:

“You’re not there to perform for your friends and family. You’re there to commit yourself to your bride… Remind one another that stress will happen and things may go wrong. But at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that the two of you will step into a covenant with each other.”

No matter what the planning process looks like, it’s leading you to a life together—and isn’t that just the best thing.

From The Tuscan WeddingOn the 17th and 18th of May, Villa Medicea dil Lilliano served as the most perfect backdrop to Ashley and Saurab’s two-day wedding celebration, capturing their love story and adoration of color extraordinarily. The breath-taking styling by The Tuscan Wedding ensured that the couple was able to enjoy every single second of their magical celebrations surrounded by their most loved. Ashley and Saurab dreamed of a fairy-tale wedding nestled amongst the vista of the Tuscan landscape, with the romance of Tuscany stealing their hearts and sealing their marriage.

Without a doubt, one of the central styling aspects of this stunning wedding was the floristry design provided by Flowers Living. On the first day, the beautiful bride chose a bouquet to contrast her crisp white dress, with vibrant colors providing a real ‘pop’, finished delicately with a bright magenta satin ribbon for the real wow factor. Saurab’s eye-catching orange buttonhole flowers sat perfectly nestled against his navy suit, and the bridesmaids shone with their bouquets of delicate foliage, wrapped with a soft white satin ribbon, perfectly designed to complement the bride and groom. The floral theming even extended to the bridesmaid dresses, with a gentle cascade of florals featured as the dress print. It’s these tiny touches that really set this wedding apart from others, with every aspect carefully curated and designed.

With photos captured by the astoundingly talented Purewhite Photography, Ashley and Saurab have a wedding album filled to the brim with breath-taking photos of their two-day celebration. From loving photos of the happy couple, through to beautiful memories of their guests enjoying their special days, Purewhite Photography made sure to capture all of the most intricate memories laced with happiness and joy for the couple to cherish.

The second day of celebrations showcased a traditional Indian ceremony, with Ashley’s amazing wedding henna and bright red sari the stars of the show. The styling was bold and exciting, with bright florals and golden accents standing center stage. The Tuscan Wedding’s ability to show such different styles really stood out, with the two-day celebration providing guests with captivating scenes set in totally different styles.

With such an awe-inspiring venue, The Tuscan Wedding team knew it was important to create a style that was timeless and elegant, to allow the touches of the Villa Medicea di Lilliano’s architecture and dressing to really stand out. From fountains to fairy lights, the venue is the perfect backdrop for a wonderful wedding.

The timeless and elegant wedding décor designed by The Tuscan Wedding for the first celebration was filled with greenery, soft, subtle and sublime. With rustic wooden table names, wooden barrels filled brimming with vibrant vegetables for the chefs, and woven baskets filled with flowers, there was no aspect overlooked by The Tuscan Wedding to make sure this really was an amazing affair.

The chefs from Galateo Ricevimenti crafted an exquisite meal for the guests, with wine poured into beautiful crystal glasses sourced by The Tuscan Wedding. The unforgettable celebrations were set to the sounds of Leonardo Martera, DJ, where the guests danced until the early hours laughing with delight. Bathed in lighting designed by Almaproject, the bride and groom and their guests were truly in the spotlight of love. The wedding celebrations were a wonderfully special project to work on, and the styling and organization orchestrated by The Tuscan Wedding made sure that Ashley and Saurab had the most perfect wedding that they had always dreamed of, settled within the stunning scenery of the Tuscany Hills.

This Bride’s Ring Has the Most Heartfelt Story Behind It

We often hear of stories where an heirloom ring was passed down and therein is full of sentimental value. But this Bride’s engagement ring was custom crafted by her Groom-to-be with her Mother’s memory in mind. It’s the sweetest story and you can read it all below, alongside Cavin Elizabeth‘s stunning imagery of their engagement session.

From Cavin Elizabeth Photography… Brieze and Peter, who live and work in San Francisco in the medical and technology fields, traveled to Palm Springs for their La Quinta Resort engagement photos. They get married at the Miramonte later this year and were in town for a tasting. Because they got engaged at La Quinta, I suggested it as the perfect location for their engagement session.

As you can see, Brieze’s ring is such a showstopper. Not only is it striking and gorgeous, it also has a very sentimental story behind it. Brieze’s mother Beth was a fine jewelry designer and had planned to design her daughter and son-in-law’s rings. Sadly, Beth passed away last April and was not able to create the jewelry for the loving couple. In her honor, Peter designed Brieze’s engagement ring with a carat count that matched Beth’s birthday. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ring with a story that made me teary eyed until I saw Brieze’s. Her ring holds so much beauty in every way.

This Wedding Perfectly Combines Ballroom Elegance with All the California Beach Vibes

When you take a look at today’s soiree, your initial thought is that this could have taken place on the beach, but in fact, it occurred a few steps away in the beautiful ballroom at Casa Del Mar! The bride and groom, who wanted each and every one of their guests to feel like a part of their day called upon Simply Natural Events to put together their laid back, yet extremely graceful day. White velvet linens and classic blue and white tableware brought the elegance, while Wisteria Lane Flowers brought the timeless, beach vibes with a mix of blush pink and white florals arranged ever so perfectly. Check out the full gallery here, photographed by Krista Mason Photography to see a bride full of smiles!

From Simply Natural EventsWe wanted to create an environment that was timeless and elegant, but not too stuffy. The couple wanted their guests to feel like they were part of the wedding — like it was their day too — so we added all sorts of fun elements, beginning with a great band and an interactive photo booth. It was a destination wedding for most of the guests, so the couple wanted to leave them with a taste of California on their way out, which came in the form of a late-night snack courtesy of In-N-Out.

From the Bride & Groom…

We fell in love with Casa Del Mar and really wanted to embrace the elegance of the hotel combined with beach vibes. We wanted our wedding to feel timeless and elegant.

What attracted you to your venue? Was there any significance in selecting your venue?

We loved the ballroom of Casa Del Mar, the color is beautiful. We love the whole hotel and it was a dream to have our wedding there. We also loved being on the beach and having an ocean view!

Let’s talk wedding decor: How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

We wanted to keep the decor simple and beautiful. We mixed round tables with white velvet linens with natural wood farm tables. We used lots of candles to create a romantic feeling. My favorite part was using blue and white plates to match the menus.

What were the florals like at your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

I loved the flowers so much! The flowers were white mixed with blush pink and greenery. The farm tables were draped with garland and mixed with the same white and pink flowers from the bouquets and lots of candles!

Did you personalize the day in any way?

We had our favorite cocktails passed during cocktail hour, old fashioned and French 75. In-n-Out burger for a late-night snack. I walked down the aisle to Can’t Help Falling in Love.

What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

So much! My dress, the flowers, table settings! The first look with Nick was amazing! The speeches and dancing with my new husband! Getting on stage to dance to Sweet Home Alabama at the end of the night as well :)
