Five Steps to Prepare Your Home for Guests

Welcoming people to your home can be somewhat of a stressful process, but don’t let the doorbell be a tone of panic! Whether you’re hosting family, friends or nosy neighbors, these 5 steps will help equip you to open up your home with confidence!

Clean Off Flat Surfaces

Clutter is the most prominent thing to make a home feel dirty. Even if you’re home is ‘Lysoled’ from top to bottom, if there’s too much visual clutter it immediately feels a little dirtier.

Now, there’s a big difference between *decor and *clutter and the thing that separates it is intentionality. If you’ve got a staged bookshelf stacked with intentional trinkets and books, that looks great! But if you’ve got magazines haphazardly hanging this way and that, it looks like clutter.

The same goes for your kitchen counters. A few small appliances and trinkets on the countertops looks staged and intentional, but if ALL of your small appliances are out for the world to see, it seems more like clutter.

Take time to take inventory of your dressers, buffet tables, credenzas, side tables, shelves, and countertops. If what you’re looking at seems like it was just “set” down vs. placed — re-evaluate and clean it up!

Dust and Clean Reflective Surfaces

This little trick goes a long way. The state of your mirrors, picture frames and windows can really alter the perception of ‘clean’ that your home creates.

If there are fingerprints all over your windows (or, in many dog-owner’s cases, nose prints) it makes the home feel lot dirtier than it actually is.

Reflective surfaces take light and bounce it around your home, which makes your home feel bright, airy and so clean! But if there are tiny smudges and speckles of dust in the way, the light only highlights dirtiness.

Wipe down bathroom mirrors, glass surfaces, picture frames, metal surfaces, and windows to give your home a little extra sparkle.

Throw Away All of Your Paper

Mail is the biggest culprit here. It piles up SO fast. But so can receipts, homework, tags, grocery lists and a whole slew of other paper products.

Take a lap around your home with a trash bag first and throw away whatever you don’t need. Be ruthless and get rid of all those tiny pieces of paper.

After you’ve done that, walk around with a basket and fill it with the paper items that you still need to attend to — mail, business expense receipts, your to-be-completed Christmas list, and everything else that you can’t throw away just yet. Tuck that basket in your room or office and BAM, a big-time mess is taken care of.

Stock Up

Now that all of the clutter, paper, and dust is gone — take inventory of what you’re going to need to make your guests comfortable. Here’s a list to work off of, but ultimately you know your guests best!

Water — A bedside water is always a kind gesture for people staying the night.

Paper products — Make SURE you have plenty of toilet paper and paper towels, and then double-check, and then get more than what you think you need.

Towels — Do a load of laundry in advance so you can fold up a fresh towel and hand-towel for your guests to specifically use. It eliminates that awkward intrusion feeling they encounter when sorting through your linen closet to try and locate the towels they’re ‘supposed to use.’ (We have Monica Geller and her categorized towels to blame for this feeling)

Toiletries — People often forget SOMETHING, so it’s good to have a stock-pile of niceties on hand like a toothbrush, razor, contact solution, travel-sized shampoo and conditioner, and mouthwash just in case they left theirs behind.

Coffee + Tea — It’s always a good idea to have a favorite, comforting beverage on hand to offer your guests in the morning or as a cozy nightcap. The Sweedish call it “hygge,” and it’s something all hosts want to create.

Snacks + Desserts — We all get a late-night sweet tooth and snack itch, and it is SO handy to have that already present and accounted for. Grab some individual packaged salty snacks and prep some cookies in the freezer ready to pop on a tray and it will make you look so on top of things with such little effort, you’ll feel on top of the world

Making sure that you’re properly stocked up for guests before they arrive helps to ensure that you can actually get to spend time WITH them instead of spending time FOR them scrambling to meet their needs.

Bring in the ‘Smell Goods’

You can clean and clean and clean… and clean, but if your home doesn’t smell good, it’s all for not. Pet owners and parents can relate to this, you can spend an entire weekend cleaning and one spilled milk or wet-dog shakedown can majorly set you back.

Once you get you’re home ship-shape and stocked up, pay close attention to potential odor offenders and be aware that you might be “nose-blind” to them. One of the best ways to ensure your home smells good is to address your soft surfaces. Frabreeze up your upholstered furniture, wash your slipcovers and even check your curtains for trapped odors.

Once you’ve addressed your soft surfaces, open up the doors and windows for good airflow, turn on the fans and start adding favorable scents. Whether that’s your favorite candle, diffusing oil or an infused pot-simmer, the final stage of making your home smell good can truly tip you over the top of hosting expertise.

You can’t really eliminate aaaaallll the stresses of hosting, but you CAN do a lot of prep-work that minimizes discomfort for your guests — and if you’re guests feel comfortable, that means you’ve done your job!

This Couple Tied the Knot at a Stunning Church Nestled at the Foot of 13,000 FT Peak!

In all our years here at SMP, we can’t believe we’ve never known about St. Malo Chapel in Colorado – standing alone at the foot of a 13,000 ft peak! It seriously looks like something out of a fantasy and completely took our breath away when we first laid eyes on it. This entire day is stunning, Calluna Events made the bride and groom’s dream of a “black tie in the wilderness” wedding come to life. From the romantic ceremony to the tented reception complete with a wreath-adorned donkey, check out the full gallery captured by Alp & Isle to see it all!

From the Bride… Ian grew up in California and Kate in Colorado. We live in San Francisco now, where Ian works in business operations for First Republic Bank and Kate works in software investing. We met in business school at Stanford, so maybe it’s not surprising that in the years we’d been dating and attending weddings together, we developed a list of wedding “best practices”.

Those ideas fueled some of our favorite details of our wedding. For example, we had learned not to let the party go too long if you want it to end with a bang, so we made the decision to cut things off on the earlier side in order to have a (very worth it) sparkler send-off. We also loved a friend’s idea of pin-on buttons to signify how guests knew the bride and groom, so we did our own version, complete with sketch-style images echoed the hand-drawings woven through our invitations, programs, menus etc. Our overall vision for the wedding was “black tie in the wilderness”.

We’re an outdoorsy couple and we loved the juxtaposition of a formal party in a wild setting. It was important to us to have a religious ceremony in a church, and St. Malo’s chapel was just the right fit. Nestled at the foot of a 13,000 ft peak and standing alone, it has a rugged elegance. To complement that, our ideal reception venue was a naturally beautiful place with no buildings visible from any angle, that way we could build out a tented space and it could feel like the whole party was somewhat apart from civilization.

After a multi-month, multi-state search, we’re so glad we found that perfect field. We owe a lot to the talented team of vendors who built out something so substantial in such a sequestered spot. Another eccentric interest that we share is a love of paper and mail. Ian sends over 50 birthday cards a year and collects stamps and Kate has built a software tool for tracking mailing addresses. So, we invested a lot of thought into paper products for the wedding. Blackbird Letterpress helped us create incredible volvelle invitations made of two concentric circular pieces. Guests could spin the inner circle to expose information about different events over the weekend. Further paying homage to snail mail, we opted for stacks of postcards and a mailbox in lieu of a guestbook.

From the Bride…Hayden and I met in Florida through mutual friends. There’s a debate to this day as to who “courted” who, but after our first date we were inseparable. Hayden proposed at home (on a weeknight) because on the day he picked up my ring, he decided he couldn’t wait until we made it home to California! Originally, he had planned on proposing at his family’s Christmas party, but he is terrible at keeping secrets. So on that random weeknight in December, he told me he had gotten my last Christmas present, and the next thing I knew, he was proposing! We wanted a classic wedding with a rustic-chic vibe. My mother in law and I had so much fun creating the design for our day! I love earth tones, and adore succulents with their cool green, so we used those for favors and decided to accent that green with blush throughout the whole wedding – including our cake! Additionally, we loved the idea of guests bringing home a succulent because they are very resilient, and we thought it was the perfect way to “let love grow”. My favorite memory from the day was really captured in the wedding film. Our ceremony was so heartfelt but it was us to the core. It was funny, quirky, a little awkward and full of love. We love watching the film back and laughing. In our photos and film, you would have never known that in the midst of it all my sister in law had an allergic reaction and was rushed to the hospital. It’s a hilarious part of the day (wasn’t funny then) that we all still laugh about it. Everything else went perfectly and we said it must be good luck that SOMETHING went a little wrong. We had an amazing team that went above and beyond and it was a beautiful day. Special touch: mother in law made me a garter with fabric from her wedding dress.

The Newlywed Holiday Gift Guide

Chances are that you have people on your holiday shopping list that got married this year. As newlyweds, they’re likely still in that romantic honeymoon phase so why not tailor your gifts to them to complement that! Or perhaps you just got married and are wondering what to gift your new spouse. Read our newlywed holiday gift guide and get your shopping list ready.

For Them

1. Matching onesies have been on my own holiday wish list with my husband for longer than I’d like to admit. There’s something very nostalgic about wearing onesies as an adult and they’re perfect for snuggling together over the colder holiday months.

2. Are they totally head over heels for their dog or cat? Then they’d surely love a luxe pet bed for their fur baby (yes I said it, I am not ashamed!). Shop from your favorite pet store or make a “huge” statement with a miniature sofa from TOV.

3. If the couple prefers experiences to material gifts, gift them a cooking lesson that centers around winter foods. Do an online search for cooking classes in their area and find the perfect one for them!

For Her

1. Vera Wang Princess perfume – a scent that was inspired by all of the characteristics that we would want to possess and what resides in all of us, young or old.

2. Gift your wife a spa day and I’m sure she’ll want to marry you all over again. Find a highly rated local spa with half or full day packages that include a facial, massage, and perhaps a manicure and pedicure treatment.

3. Anything Kate Spade is always a treat in my hands. You honestly cannot go wrong with any gift from Kate Spade whether you choose a classic handbag or one that’s shaped like a cat if she’s into more fun and unique accessories.

4. If your wife loves fine dining, why not surprise her with a date night to a restaurant that’s been on her bucket list for a long time. Sometimes merely the experience in itself at a high-end restaurant is worth the trip!

For Him

1. Some men love playing with fire, so why not gift your husband a gourmet s’mores kit! Instead of buying a standard ingredient kit, get creative with specialty marshmallows and luxury chocolate. Plus, you can totally enjoy this too!

2. When I first met my husband, he had just tried his hand at brewing his own beer. Over the years, this has been such a fun topic of conversation, so if your husband loves beer then I highly suggest gifting him a home brewing kit!

3. Is your husband a total foodie? Surprise him with a crate full of various snacks. Mancrates has a variety of foods that actually come in a miniature shipping crate (so cute, right!?)

4. If you’re anything like me, the idea of camping sounds great to your husband but totally miserable to you. If so, planning a weekend full of camping and outdoor activities for your husband to enjoy with one of his friends would be such fun for him. After you send him off, you get the house to yourself to catch up on your Netflix shows.

You Have To See What This Couple’s Love Story Inspired For Their Wedding Day

A love story this good deserves an epic wedding. Rachel and Matt started as high school sweethearts, leaving notes in each other’s lockers, their first official date was to their school’s junior prom! They kept their note-passing tradition through college, and have kept every single note throughout the years, the couple still puts pen to paper for all special occasions. How sweet is that?! Their wedding is full of all the sweet touches and attention to detail you could imagine for such a love-struck pair. It’s all artfully captured by Anna Delores Photography. Take a look at all the darling details in the full gallery.

From Anna Delores PhotographyRachel and Matt’s wedding day at Whispering Rose Ranch in Solvang, California was everything you could dream of. It was designed by the bride herself, coordinated by Ann Johnson Events, and covered in florals by Lark Farnum Design, who is also an old friend of Rachel’s.

Both the bride and the groom were in tears throughout the ceremony; it was a very sweet, genuine, emotional day. The breathtaking scenery played homage to the couple’s beautiful love story.

Rachel and Matt were sure to incorporate some personal touches, like Moscow mules as their signature cocktail. Mini copper mugs even doubled as adorable escort cards for guests!

The entire enchanted evening was the perfect celebration of Rachel and Matt’s love. The day was an incredible way to begin the next chapter of their story together.

Dusty Blue Hanukkah Tabletop Inspiration

Hanukkah celebrations start in just a few days, so to get your tables-decorating gears in motion we’re sharing this GORGEOUS set up from Sweet Bloom Floral Design and Tara Whittaker Photography! The mix of traditional and updated colors, earthy textures and thoughtful details elevates this table to celebrate the holiday in a meaningful way. Read all about it!

From Tara Whittacker of Tara Whittaker Photography

The shoot has a warm, celebratory feel and many thoughtful details from Evelyn at 206 Event Co. A quick Google search for “Hanukkah decor” yields a very traditional color palette of royal blue and silver, which we wanted to modernize while paying homage to a few key Hanukkah traditions including the nine-arm menorah. We kept the blue and metallic theme, transitioning to dusty blue-grey dinnerware with gold rims, gold-flecked linens, and pops of deep dusty blue throughout the florals. We also kept things cozy and warm by using matte gold flatware, natural wood, eucalyptus garland, and amber glassware.

For a more traditional element, we included beautiful navy, teal, and gold enamel dreidels from Crate & Barrel. A few additional candles on the table as well as some glass accent bud vases bounce the light around and tie into the notion that Hanukkah is the festival of light. Overall, the design came together as warm, natural, and definitely festive.

From Evelyn of 206 Event Co.

When Tara proposed the idea of a styled holiday shoot, Hanukkah-style, I was very excited. My sister had recently converted to Judaism and our family had been learning more about the traditions and sense of community that define the way she and her husband participate in the Jewish faith. Hanukkah is an 8-night “festival of light” commemorating the successful rebellion by the Maccabees and the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. According to religious text, a miracle occurred and the menorah in the Second Temple burned for eight days even though there was only enough sacred oil for the light to burn for one. Hanukkah is celebrated through various customs that include the menorah – a seven or nine-armed candelabra, special foods, games, and chocolate coins. Although this shoot was styled with Hanukkah in mind, certain elements would transition well to other holiday celebrations.

Metallic elements are popular for the holiday season in general, and I really loved Tavia’s (Sweet Bloom Floral Design) addition of a hanging driftwood installation to provide a distinctly celebratory feel. The menorah could be swapped for a regular candelabra or clusters of taper candles, and the dreidels we placed at each setting could be traded out for any small Christmas ornament, or even a large pinecone or sprig of greenery.

A Picturesque D.C Wedding With All Of The Historical Views You Could Ask For!

For Kelsey & Matt’s big day, a majority of their family and friends were coming from out of town, so showing off Washington D.C and its gorgeous views was at the top of their list and The Potomac View Terrace was the perfect place with a sleek, white interior and views of the monuments! SRS Events went to work to create the couple’s modern all-white wedding with pops of gray throughout, and stunning details like marble plates and gorgeous hanging greenery by Eight Tree Street Floral. With views for days and unlimited backdrops for portraits, Dyanna LaMora had no shortage of photo opportunities! Check it out below to see all of the modern-day magic!

From SRS EventsKelsey and Matt came to SRS Events needing help planning their modern DC wedding! Both of their friends and families would be traveling from out of state for their big day, so they wanted a wedding venue that captured the spirit of Washington, DC. As soon as they toured Potomac View Terrace, they knew it was their perfect venue — sleek, lots of white, views of the monuments, and right in the heart of the city.

Kelsey and Matt wanted a modern, white wedding, with pops of grey! The only other color came from the bridesmaid dresses, which were a dark grey in Storm from Jenny Yoo.

Kelsey and Matt got their guests excited for their DC wedding, with their save the dates and invitations, both from Minted, that featured the DC skyline. Perfectly fitting since their venue’s reception rooftop has views of the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument.

After a First Look in Constitution Gardens against the backdrop of the Washington Monument, the newlyweds said their I Do’s against the statuesque front facade of their venue. Adding greenery and white florals to the giant pillars flanking the ceremony and a modern circular arrangement to serve as their altar. Guests made their way up to the rooftop for the reception right at sunset, and were wowed by the views!

A menu featuring a Southern-style dinner, thoughtfully selected by the bride and groom, including a contemporary Caesar salad with fried green tomatoes, cornbread, and a choice of entree of shrimp and grits or fried chicken with roasted brussels sprouts cooked according to the groom’s grandmother’s recipe. A pie display fitting for their fall wedding was served in lieu of a wedding cake. The DJs kept the dance floor packed all night, and a streamer sendoff in front of the venue sent off the newlyweds as they embarked the next day on a month-long honeymoon to Thailand and the Maldives.

A Romantic & Modern Bash with a Dash of Brilliant And The Coolest British Details!

I love a wedding with meaningful, intricate details and this wedding delivers! With nods to the British groom’s heritage at every turn, you won’t want to miss them including a “that’s brilliant” seating display with lightbulb ‘escort cards’ that were filled with a cocktail with calligraphy by Four Things Paper! The couple said I Do at the Monarch Beach Resort surrounded by friends and family and an array of colorful blooms by Posey Pop. Take a peek below and see all that Amorology perfectly planned and Yuri Yatel got to photograph!… And be sure to make note to all of their “cheeky” details!

From AmorologyAfter a Britt fell in love with a beautiful American girl they came to us seeking a wedding with all the pretty details and we knew we were in for all types of fun! Inspired by Andy’s heritage and England hometown we set out to create a bash with a dash of brilliant!  Mixing classic romance with earthy winter textures, and playful touches we blended in tones of soft neutrals of London fog, warm leather, pale blue and pops of berry, mauve, and rose gold.

Following the ceremony overlooking the ocean, we got  “Cheeky” with the guest’s favors at cocktail hour and offered all shades of blush for the ladies, and aftershave for the men to take home! Guests were also invited to sip on a Suzandy (Cranberry mule) or a Dirty Alfie (dirty martini) named after their sweet pup!

To bring warmth into the intimate reception space, we draped tables in a cadet blue velvet with sandstone taper candles down the center and brought in rose gold grid chairs from Theoni. Vellum menus that said “Nosh” sat upon mixed blue plates paired with jet metallic flatware and terra cotta tumblers to play to the warm leather elements we weaved throughout their day. The tables were complete with the grid table numbers by Prim and Pixie along with accents of fresh berries in terra cotta dishes, and florals abundant in all shades of warm neutrals, creams, and mauve.

Guests were invited into the space with a fun seating display cut out wood backdrop that was backlit and read “that’s brilliant” as another subtle nod to the UK, where our groom Andy grew up, paired with lightbulb terrariums calligraphed with loved one’s names by Four Things Paper that also doubled as yummy drinks for guests to bring to their seats!

Charcuterie boards and cheese displays were brought to the tables with dessert as another sweet treat and a nod to all things British. When our bride changed into her second dress of the night guests knew they were in for a fun treat and spent the rest of the night dancing away!

An Italian Castle Is Transformed To Create A Must-See Love Story

Pack your bags, this love story in the Italian countryside is everything you’ve ever needed. A castle in Apulia sets the scene for this Dolce Vita inspired editorial shoot, created by FINE MOMENTS. From the effortlessly chic bridal styling to the romantic soft-toned florals, this is relaxed luxury at its finest. Elegantly captured by Melanie Nedelko, you’re going to be breathless over every last detail. Get transported to Italy with all the beautiful imagery in the full gallery.

From FINE MOMENTSWith its beautiful landscapes full of olive trees and vineyards, the gorgeous architecture in local sand-stone, the sunny climate and the untouched beaches, Apulia is becoming a secret escape with lots of authentic Italian lifestyle to discover. For our editorial shoot, we wanted to create an inspiration capturing Apulia’s refined simplicity combining it with modern elegance.

For the bridal look, we went for a chic “pleat” dress by Elfenkleid that wows with an architectural silhouette and light flowy fabrics. Together with Bella Belle’s sleek Kate sandals, fine My Felicity jewelry, natural make-up and loose updo by locals Michela Caravella and Domenico Floriello this makes for contemporary bridal vibes.

Romantic florals in soft tones in the color scheme of the castle created the base for the floral design by Ponk Rentals. Stunning low centerpieces complemented the handmade ceramics, while the dreamy ceremony set up on the terrace of Vinilia Wine Resort overlooking the Apulian landscape created poetic moments. Capturing the modern vibe of the venue we used plates and custom-made flower vessels of local ceramic designer Enza Fasano in a typical Apulian decor working with different colors and combined modern chairs in grey with matching tablecloths as a chic contrast to the warm tones of the venue.

The stationery designed by Carissimo Letterpress creates a sleek, modern look with mixed colored papers and minimal typography. Elegance is added by using gold foil and hand-illustrated details like the drawing of the gorgeous castle.

We hope you are inspired byMelanie Nedelko’s photos scanned by Carmencita and the video by Merak Studio and start dreaming of a wedding in Bella Italia…

See Why Galia Lahav Has Bridal Gowns in Every Style for Every Bride!

It is no secret that we love Galia Lahav bridal gowns, here at Style Me Pretty and for that reason, we just have to showcase some of our favorite brides in their gowns! From beaded and lace to bows and ballgowns, the styles are unlimited and for seriously, every bride whether you’re traditional or modern! Take a peek below to see some seriously stunning gowns and read all about each brides style! Once you do, get ready to book your appointment to try some on for yourself!

From Bride, Derin in the DelphineI was just getting started to search for my wedding dress. My first appointment ever was with Galia Lahav in LA. Before coming in, I already had an idea of what I was looking for but after seeing all those sparkling dresses I wasn’t so sure anymore: I wanted them all! It was a place from heaven, so elegant and dreamy. After admiring each and every dress, I picked some of my favorites to try on, and Anthony, who was the greatest help, also brought a few models which he thought would look great on me. I liked most of the dresses but none of them was the one and we didn’t have enough time. So, a few days later, I booked another appointment. The moment that I put on the first dress my search was over! It was the most perfect dress and I was in love! It fit me like a glow as if it was tailor-made just for me. With butterflies in my stomach, I left the store to discuss it with my husband. On my way back to take this gorgeous dress back home with me, I was devastated by a call from Anthony. Apparently, right after I left, someone else bought my dress! My heart was broken. I knew that no other dress would ever look or feel the same, but I had to keep looking because eventually, I would need a dress!

A few months later, my fiancée and I were visiting New York for Christmas. I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity and booked appointments with selected stores, including Bridal Reflections. I truly believe in miracles, especially after this unforgettable experience! There it was, the very exact dress that slipped through my fingers a few months ago in LA, waiting for me in New York! It was meant to be. I am so grateful to be among the very few brides who are destined to wear their dream dress at their wedding!

From Bride, Fernanda in the GiaI was inspired when I saw the dress on influencer Aylin Koenig. After trying it on in Los Angeles, it was love at first sight! I knew the Gia Dress was the one!

From Bride, Alexa in the MiaI went to several bridal studios around Dallas and tried on a ton of dresses! I had found a dress I liked but wanted to wait until my mom was in town before making any decisions. We made an appointment at Stanley Korshak which I hadn’t been to so she could have the full Dallas bridal experience and my dress was the first one I tried on. Before Stanley Korshak, I hadn’t tried on anything by Galia but once I put it on I knew it was my dress. The fit of a Galia gown is incomparable to any other designer I had tried and aside from how beautiful it was, the way it complemented my body was the reason I chose the dress.

My experience was amazing from start to finish! Stanley Korshak took such great care of me and the alterations were very minimal because it was made to my measurements.

From Bride, Derya in the G-104I went to a specific boutique that sold Galia Lahav because I had two dresses in mind that I had to try. My dress wasn’t either. But, after trying on, and loving the dresses that were on my list, the bridal attendant told me she had one more dress that she had pulled and that she thought that was going to be the one. “It just came in,” she said. So, I tried it on. The last dress. And it was the one. My mom cried, so I cried, and that was it. That was my dress.

Every dress was special in its own way. Every dress was beautifully done. Even after I got my dress, I was like “maybe I should have gotten that other dress,” because they were all so gorgeous and looked so good! In the end, I made the right choice and ended up getting a dress made by the brand I always dreamt of my husband seeing me in.

From Bride, Leigh in the RhiannonI tried on over 50 dresses and while they were lovely and just knew that they weren’t the ONE. During a trip to Browns Bride I happened to show an assistant the types of dresses I liked and one of the images was the Galia Lahav Rhiannon dress. I couldn’t believe it when Parissa (the assistant) said that they had that dress. She asked if I would like to try it on, I was on my own but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity and said yes. The second I put it on I knew it was my dress. I instantly fell in love with it. It was like nothing I had ever seen. The hand-beading was exquisite and the low cleavage neckline and mermaid cut made my figure look divine and the vintage rose applique was so delicate and reflected my theme and part of our relationship.

I had had a vision of an overskirt with a gown so that it was more traditional and romantic in feel for the ceremony and that could be removed for the evening so I could dance all night. I asked if Galia Lahav had any overskirts and as soon as I tried the overskirt on I was even taken aback at how breathtaking it was together. I knew there and then that I was to be a Galia Lahav bride. I have never felt that something was designed so well and I have never felt so magnificent in a dress before. I absolutely adore it and will treasure it forever. When I walked down the aisle there were so many wow’s and all my guests genuinely said that they had never seen a dress that was so magnificent.

It was utterly divine. I decided that I would like part of the back altered to have the pearls sit slightly higher and have a nude lining and I cannot praise all of the Browns Bride team and Galia Lahav enough for really caring that the dress was exactly the way I had in mind. Every aspect of the experience was so pleasurable and I felt so cared for and special. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

Every Adventure Loving Couple Needs to Have This Bucket List Station at Their Wedding

The earth tone color scheme, the lace cuffs on her wedding dress, the boho touches… there’s just so much to love about today’s woodsy private home wedding designed by HauteFetes! Not to mention the cutest couple ever. Run, don’t walk to the full gallery captured by Mikki Platt Photography to get inspired by every thoughtful detail – including a a genius station idea for couples who are always planning their next adventure.

From Mikki Platt PhotographyMegan, the lovely bride, envisioned a boho-chic style for her November wedding and she leaned on her brilliant wedding designer to bring that to life! Dani Blasina of HauteFetes grasped Megan’s vision and guided her decisions to articulate her dream wedding! She imagined a formal event at her parents home, with her closest family and friends, a celebration in every sense of the word and an evening that their guests would look forward to! The results were woodsy touches, neutral & earthy tones in the drapery & linens (the soft greens were swoon-worthy!), making way for spectacular florals by Plenty of Petals. Lanterns and candles lit every walkway & staircase. Moroccan lanterns adorned the ceiling of the tent, connected by greenery and vines, it was quite the sight to behold! Invitations were individually made by the Invitation Factory.

They were the perfect balance of formal, traditional and modern. Each invite arrived to the guest in a protective covering to ensure it’s safe arrival! Out of town guests received a welcome box that featured favorite treats and items that represented the couple’s personalities! Mikki Platt Photography and Nate Pickett Films were critical to capturing the details and moments that had so much meaning for these California natives. The wedding day began with a private religious ceremony and the celebrations continued with a reception & dinner at the brides family home later that evening. Guests were in for a treat as they wandered down the candle lit pathway to the tent where live music poured through the evening.

Food stations created a moving flow so guests to pick and choose according to their tastebuds request! Chicken skewers, shrimp, pizza, burger sliders & fries, salads, pasta and a refreshing lemonade bar. Cashmere blankets and hot chocolate kept family and friends warm throughout the night! The cake was beautiful and tasted amazing! It was gluten and dairy free, had a simple but classy style and featured succulents! Megan’s wedding gown had a high collar neckline and lace bodice with elegant, flowing fabric that flattered her stunning figure with every step. She customized it by adding a sheer sleeve and modern lace cuffs to make it unique. Sam went with a classic, black tux and bow tie! It paired perfectly with Megan’s elegant and chic gown! Bucket lists have been their “thing” since the beginning of their romance. Always planning for adventures and memories, so it was fitting to have a bucket list station for guests to leave notes of ideas, recommendations and encouragement. Even the groom’s ring is engraved with, “You are my Bucket list”. A beautiful nod to their beginning as an adventurous married couple! Megan and Sam’s favorite moments include walking into the reception space and being completely blown away by the beauty of it all. Sam said he’s never seen anything like it and his wife was pretty as could be! Megan remembers looking around and loving that she actually knew each of their guests personally. It meant so much to them to be surrounded by so many people that they love! The father/daughter dance started with a personal favorite by Taylor Swift, “Never Give Up” and half way through they surprised everyone with a choreographed dance to Megan Trainor’s, “Dance like Yo Daddy”. It was a great way to mix up the emotions of giving your daughter away and celebrating! Their first dance was unforgettable. Sam’s family performed the song and Sam whispered every word in Megan’s ear as they swayed on the lantern lit dance floor. They couldn’t stop smiling! They’re advice to other couples would be to EAT throughout the day! Enjoy the elements that you spent months planning! If you have a wedding line, keep it short and sweet so guests know to be on time and then move on to the celebration! They realized that you can’t please everyone, so don’t stress too much on any one detail. Enjoy the whole process!

“Together, forever with my best friend! Couldn’t be happier!” – Megan Smith

This Fairytale Wedding Is So Enchanting You’ll Think You’re Dreaming

Get ready to pinch yourself, because this enchanted wedding is going to have you think you’re dreaming. Imagine your wildest wedding dreams, and then go a little bit bigger and you’ll get Jordan and Andrew’s special day. Just take one look at idyllic pear tree lined ceremony location, expansive vineyards, and did we mention there’s even a snow-white horse?! Richelle Hunter Photography beautifully captures the magic of the day. Watch the whole fairytale come to life in the full gallery.

From the Bride… Our intimate, sun-filled June wedding on the picturesque grounds of Gracewood Estate was nothing short of magical. Andrew and I couldn’t have asked for a better day to seal the first chapter of our romance. Our story begins on my first day at Western University. I walked into my intro to business class and there was Andrew, my 23-year-old (and utterly handsome) teacher for the year! (For those wondering, Andrew had a special two-year contract teaching first year business when he graduated undergrad). It was one of those cheesy, love at first sight moments, except only for one of us. I had a huge crush on Andrew all year, but it wasn’t until the end of school that we coincidentally ran into each other at a local bar where Andrew’s band was playing for the evening. To my surprise, he asked for my number at the end of the night and from that point onwards, we were pretty much inseparable. Nine years later, we married on the anniversary weekend of when we started dating.

We are very fortunate to live so close to the beautiful Niagara region and its many distinctive wineries. It’s where Andrew proposed to me on a perfect spring weekend. We knew right away that we wanted to get married at Kurtz Orchards, in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. It was the one and only wedding venue we visited. The historic property sits on 40 acres of lush orchards and beautiful vineyards. Upon visiting the property, we instantly fell in love with the vast canvas in which we could bring our dream day to life and booked the venue just one week following our engagement.

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?

Our wedding was based on a series of dreams I had envisioned and brought to reality from start to finish: the massive pear tree-lined ceremony aisle, outdoor Victorian living room, sparkler-lit first dance, sunset vineyard stroll accompanied by a white horse, and late night acoustic performance under the stars. All was carefully crafted with love and passion. Our wedding was a true fairy-tale!

Tell us a bit about the attire!

I always knew that I wanted to incorporate romantic, feminine, and vintage components into our wedding. That said, I was very particular in selecting vendors that I knew could bring my vision to life. I had planned for months, but it wasn’t until I officially said “yes” to my Romona Keveza wedding gown, that many of our wedding colours and design elements fell into place. I had been to a few different bridal boutiques in Toronto, but it was when my mom and I along with my bridesmaids went to Kleinfeld that we found my dream dress. My mom spotted the dress first and gasped, “oh my gosh, this is it” and we both instantly were overcome with goose bumps. I fell in love with the Romona Keveza gown because of its mesmerizing and dreamy A-Line skirt constructed with tulle underlayers of blush, lavender and grey. The long sleeves, plunging illusion V-neck, and intricate sparkly beading was a truly swoon-worthy combination. I’ve never loved a garment so much in my life! I was also very fortunate to wear a custom-made Romona Keveza veil to match my dress. The designer created this one-of-a-kind piece for me with delicate floral appliqués to complement the soft colour palette in my dress. It was very special.

As for the groom’s attire, Andrew ordered a black custom-made tuxedo from Empire Customs, with a satin lapel and personalized in-seam design. We were both looking for timeless ensembles that we could look back on 50 years from now and still get butterflies about.

Walk us through your color palette!

The colour palette onward reflected accents from my gown, all in soft, ethereal tones. Paula, from Paula Lee Calligraphy, worked with me to create custom Victorian-inspired invitations on handmade deckled-edge blush paper. The stationery featured walnut-coloured calligraphy and a delicate personalized monogram intertwined with blooming branches. Each invitation was secured by a custom gold wax seal.

Tellie Hunt, from Hunt and Gather, truly captured the essence of our theme with her stunning floral artistry. Her signature work of naturalized and unstructured arrangements immediately struck me. Our florals consisted of an abundance of Roses, Peonies, Ranunculus, Lisianthus, SweetPea, and mixed foliage, in soft blush tones with the occasional pop of pink, and ample greenery.

Tell us about the ceremony details!

The ceremony was certainly the most special part of our day. In keeping with tradition, Andrew and I chose not to have a first look, wanting to make the first time we saw each other at the ceremony that much more special. Both of us were very happy with our decision as the built-up anticipation made reality so much more impactful.

With the sun sparkling down on us, my dad took me in his arm, and we began our journey to the alter under a canopy of pear trees. I was mesmerized by the natural, unobstructed beauty of it all. As we approached our family and friends, and my future husband in the distance, the love and emotion in the air was so intense I could not focus on much else besides not tearing up! Beautiful growing florals lined white chairs, an elegant jazz trio strummed the chords to Hallelujah, birds sang, we prayed, and Andrew and I shared our own personal vows to one another. I remember feeling such a strong sense of peace and happiness standing in front our exquisite flower-adorned arbour, across Andrew, and all our favourite people. I can’t put into words how meaningful our entire ceremony was, other than that it was a truly heavenly experience we both will whole heartedly cherish for the rest of our lives. We concluded our wedding with a flood of glistening flower petals reflecting the sun to the sweet sound of “Surround You” by Echosmith. Can I travel back in time?

And of course, the reception… give us the 411!

After the ceremony, guests headed to the courtyard where they were greeted with Black Currant Spritzers upon arrival. A Victorian-inspired lounge area complete with a French daybed, ornate candelabras, gauzy linens, and antique-framed paintings cast on the trunks of sweeping Austrian pine trees, offered a mesmeric old-world place for guests to sit and mingle. The once-upon-a-time outdoor setting was solely curated by my mom who ardently collects antique furniture and exquisite family heirlooms. She has an impeccable vision when it comes to creating magic!

When the reception started, guests were directed to their tables by a hand-calligraphed seating chart on a large antique mirror resting on an easel. Our tent entrance opened to an alluringly layered scene of nature and nostalgia. There were so many lovely details to be delighted by. Vintage crystal chandeliers, sparkling with the spirit of past celebrations, hung from high and wild foliage grew up tent posts to intertwine the worlds of the outdoors and indoors. Chiavari chairs pulled up to long tables that were adorned in linens with growing florals and trailing garland, blush-tapered candles, gold silverware, and taupe glassware edged in gold. Guests had views from all angles of the surrounding cherry trees and vineyards. We toasted and celebrated meaningful words from our families. Dinner was designed to incorporate lots of seasonal vegetables and for dessert, we devoured strawberry short cake with coconut whip, local sparkling from Kew Vineyards, and our all-time favourite *rosé from Henry of Pelham Estate Winery.*

Our wedding cake and cake pop favours were created by the outstanding Nadia & Co. The cake was a three-tier blush fondant, pink vanilla cake with *rosé* ganache and strawberries. (Strawberries were a recurrent theme as they were ripe and in season at the end of June!).

During golden hour, Andrew and I had our sparkler-lit first dance to ‘Kiss Me’, by Ed Sheeran. We had been going to dance classes for 4 months prior but did not foresee the large obstacle of dancing with a tulle-layered gown! Nonetheless, I got my ‘princess moment’, with a fairy-tale lift and spin while our family and friends cheered us on.

To follow our dance, we were greeted by Obi, the white horse, for a stroll through the vineyards at sunset. We danced the evening away and ended the night curled up next to fire pits, drinking champagne and singing our hearts out to an acoustic set list under the stars, by our fantastic band, The Mad Hatters. Our guests loved this intimate component to our wedding and felt as though the it was perfect conclusion to such a spectacular day.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

Two special elements really stood out for me on our wedding day; our storybook guest book & our custom napkins! One week before our wedding, my Aunt found a handmade story book bound and filled with vintage photos and love poems (including a marriage certificate from 1904 found inside one of the many secret pockets!) We used this as our
guestbook which was a special and meaningful touch that we felt captured our enchanted and romantic theme with the greatest sincerity.

Ordering custom linen napkins was also a worthwhile endeavour. We decided on 4 fun facts to print on our napkins and dispersed these during cocktail hour. Guests had a lot of fun searching for all the napkins and learning special and unique facts about us as a couple that they may not have already known! One of my personal favourites was, “Did you know that the first song Andrew ever wrote was titled, June 30? That’s how we knew our wedding date was meant to be”. It’s a true story. Andrew is a musician and wrote this song a decade before we even met. When we were presented with a few wedding date selections to choose from and saw June 30 as an option, we took it as a sign from the universe!

What was your favorite moment?

My favourite moment was when my husband, being a musician, surprised me with a serenade! After our speeches, he picked up his acoustic guitar and sang a personalized rendition of “Tenerife Sea” by Ed Sheeran. This, being one of the most meaningful moments of my life, was most definitely a favourite of our wedding day.

Another special moment was the presence of my late grandfather through a truly touching poem written by my Aunt, titled, ‘I’m With You’. The delicate, meaningful words she shared on behalf of my grandfather (Opa) such as, “My beautiful granddaughter, You shine so bright, That no distance is too far, And I’m with you”, spoke volumes and touched the hearts of every person in the room.

Any advice for future brides?

This is a tough one!

In terms of vendors, videography and photography is something you don’t want to skimp out on! It can be challenging to pick and choose how to allocate your wedding budget, but these two vendors will create lasting memories that will allow you to remember and relive your wedding for a lifetime!

In terms of the whole day and planning process, it all goes by so fast. Take time to appreciate every step of the planning process, your dress shopping, and all the celebratory moments- no matter how large or small-along the way. Although it can be stressful, this really is such a meaningful and special time in a couple’s lives. Take a moment to breathe, and Soak. Up. Every. Moment.

Blackberry Thyme Sparkler

Champagne, bubbly, heaven in liquid form—no matter what you call it, I think we can all agree that nothing says “party” quite like a glass of Champagne. And even though I have no parties to attend tonight, this Blackberry Thyme Sparkler from The Effortless Chic calls for a celebration. So, pop the bubbly even if solely for the fact that it’s the weekend. Cheers, dears!

From The Effortless ChicThis ombre-colored bubbly cocktail is just as delicious as it is easy on the eyes.

Blackberry Thyme Sparkler
prep time
cook time

total time
10 Minute/s
Serves 4Ingredients
  • 1 c. blackberries + 8 more for garnish
  • 1 c. Water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 bottle of champagne
  • 4 ounces or 1/2 c. gin
  • 4 long sprigs of thyme
  • 1 c. ice
  • gold baking sugar for the rim
Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, bring blackberries, water, and sugar to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, until the blackberries are soft and the simple syrup has turned to a bright pink/redish color. Remove from heat, drain blackberries, and allow to cool. This step can be done well in advance as the syrup will keep for at least a week in the refrigerator.
  2. Prepare your champagne glasses. Okay, so here is a dirty little secret of getting those beautiful salts and sugars to stay atop the rim: butter. It adheres perfectly and you honestly never taste it. Place the tiniest amount between your fingers and rub just around the rim of the glass before dipping the glass into the gold baking sugar.
  3. Next, begin by adding 1 ounce of gin to each champagne glass. Next drop two blackberries in each glass, followed by 2 ounces of homemade blackberry simple syrup. Fill the rest of the glass with champagne and top with a sprig of thyme in each glass. Voila!

This Summer in Tuscany Themed Wedding Defines Whimsical!

As if Italy, in general, wasn’t romantic enough – a “summer in Tuscany” themed affair? Truly whimsical. Tayma and Dave’s vibrantly colored wedding had everything on our dream destination wedding wishlist: the prettiest florals by Tuscany Flowers, a gorgeous watercolor map welcome suite by Arabella June, and sweet family moments (Tayma’s uncle officiated the wedding!). Every detail planned by Infinity Weddings was meaningful and oh-so-romantic… just fawn over these lovely photographs by Gianluca and Mary Adovasio along with us!

From the couple…Dave and I met at ABC in NYC at a lecture on food as medicine where we chatted over a vegan cheese plate. For the proposal, he recreated this scene by sneaking in a vegan cheese plate (that was on a plate he made with pictures of us and our pets and on it said “will you marry me?” He had the florist at the store put flowers and petals all around with candles. The ring was inside a hole he hollowed out inside the first book we read together as we love reading (The Course of Love was the book title and the ring was on the chapter titled “The Proposal.” On the cover of the book was a poem he wrote for Tayma out of words he cut out from the book.

We wanted a more rustic, natural, enchanted forest feel to the wedding. We didn’t want it too formal and wanted to keep authentic to the place. The design had been done considered the special venue, Il Borro in Tuscany. So the decor was based on the concept “summer in Tuscany” using vibrant colored flowers and seasonal fruits perfectly mixed by the florist. The whole weekend was a triumph of colors, tailormade tablecloths, great music, and entertainment. For the welcome night, the concept was “Italian market” offering to the guests a special experience of different Italian food stations like a mozzarella station, BBQ, vegetable station and a bar station with lemons and bougainvilleas. But the masterpiece was a special corner with the calligraphy Betty Soldi writing special bespoke sentences on straw hats’ ribbons. Guests had a very funny moment and they loved to do pictures with these special hats…..a simple but super nice idea! Something for us very special was the tailormade tablecloths with ivory and pale rose stripes…..they made the medieval village very bright and unique.

The wedding day was the most romantic day of our life and the flowers have been the protagonist…..Scabiosa, sweet peas, English roses, digitalis, delphinium, dahlia, eucalyptus and olive branches with a palette mixing pale rose, salmon and green. We had embroidered bags with a crest that was made by a South African artist, June Arabella. The crest had our dog and cat on it as well as flowers. We had this crest also engraved on the bottom of a traditional Middle Eastern silver watermelon with sugared almonds inside. We had fireworks that were curated to songs we selected “Lucy in the sky with diamonds by the Beatles” “Benny and the Jets by Elton John” and “Can’t Stop Me Now” by Queen. We also had a vegan wedding cake and most of the food was plant-based.

We had Tayma’s uncle officiate the wedding in a very humorous, light-hearted, and philosophical way. We did not follow many traditional elements such as first dance and “I Do’s” as we wanted a wedding that was unique to our personalities and more low-key. Our favorite moment was the wedding ceremony, the fireworks, speeches, and dancing. And finally our advice for future couples…Don’t try to please everyone all the time and remember to stay true to what you want as it is your day and everyone will have differing opinions. The day itself is worth all the planning and stress.

When The Bride Is An Amazingly Talented Florist, You Know Her Intimate Wedding Is Going To Be Good!

For this intimate wedding of 10, the venue of choice was the bride’s family home on beautiful Lake Huron, with stunning views as the backdrop! With an intimate tablescape and food prepared by the groom’s father, the entire wedding day had a laid back, beach feel which went along perfectly with the bride’s Grace Loves Lace wedding gown! Amanda Collins Photography was there to photograph it all including the absolutely gorgeous florals put together by none other than the bride herself as she is a florist with Honeysuckle Floral Co. How amazing is that?! Take a scroll below to see all of the jaw-dropping arrangements!

From Amanda Collins PhotographyMaggie and Evan are San Diego natives. But when planning their perfect wedding, they could think of no better place than Maggie’s family cottage in the quaint town of East Tawas Michigan, which sits on Lake Huron. They invited ten of their closest family and friends and exchanged their nuptials right on the lake. Maggie, being a talented florist, spared no expense when it came to the floral details. She designed the intimate tablescape, which sat in the middle of their property overlooking the lake. Evan’s dad prepared a fish dish he is famous for. This entire wedding is adorned by genuine, intimate details.

When planning the color palette, Maggie commented, “I have a secret love affair with Grace Rose Farm and centered the color palette around Distant Drums- one of my very favorite roses, which ranges from dark blush buds to a pale, creamy mustard in the center when fully opened.” Maggie decided that a floor arch would best suit their simple but beautiful feel for the ceremony that would not distract from the backdrop of the sparkling Lake Huron in the background. The table was adorned with modern plates and glassware from Crate & Barrel, set against more traditional brass and crystal candlesticks and a gorgeous chiffon runner from Tono & Co.

Maggie’s Emmanuela dress from Grace Loves Lace was the perfect fit for an intimate beach wedding, paired with Evan’s linen suit from Men’s Warehouse. She also has a love for organic and loose floral designs, which was incorporated in her bouquet with a variety of roses, peach stock, vintage color pee-gees, and one of her favorites, anthurium. These flowers were also used to re-vamp an old family bar where the drinks and cake were served.

While laid back, it is clear that each detail of this wedding was meaningful and intentional. This bride and groom couldn’t have asked for a more perfect September wedding day!

With These Tips, You, Too, Can Be the Hostess with the Mostest

When it comes to Christmas, I’m of the opinion that more is more. Always. In fact, if I could get a Christmas tree the day after Halloween, I would. Unfortunately, that’s not possible in New York City so I have to wait a whole month until Thanksgiving is over to get my apartment in the Christmas spirit. So, imagine my excitement when I saw this gorgeous holiday shoot from the amazing Sarah Kate, The Wildflowers, Bows & Arrows, Arabella June Design Studio, The Left Handed CalligrapherPeyton Anne Frank and more! Consider this an early Christmas present. And the proverbial star on top of the tree? The Wildflower’s tips to host a holiday party worth celebrating!

From The Wildflowers… Hosting can understandably appear like a stressful feat. You not only have food and drinks to prepare, but invitations, decor, florals, a playlist, making sure your home is spotless, and that you have all of the serveware that you need. My biggest piece of advice is to outsource what you can and create a comfortable atmosphere. For me, I will focus on making our home look nice: clean spaces, sourcing and setting up the tablescape and decor, my husband will cook, my friend Alicia of Bows and Arrows will make our centerpieces, and when my guests ask what they can bring, I’ll recommend whatever their favorite bottles of wine is or dessert. Keeping it simple for yourself is crucial. A 5-course meal sounds lovely, but there’s nothing wrong with delivered pizza paired with great wine. It’s really the company that counts … and, of course, the tablescape.

Invitation

An invitation lets your guests know you’re planning something special for them. Yours should reflect the aesthetic of your evening and the level of formality you wish to communicate. If you’re picturing a more formal dinner, send a printed or handwritten invitation. For more casual events, an online invitation, email, phone call, or even quick text can work.

Lighting

Turn off all overhead light, turn on a table lamp or two, and light plenty of candles. Whether you use a silver candelabra or a handful of tea lights, soft illumination is one of the easiest and most important ways you can transform your space.

Tablescape

Think of your tablescape as more than just a place to serve food and drinks. It’s the source of the evening’s atmosphere. If it’s set with love and intention, your guests will notice. It’s a great way to showcase your personality. For me, mine usually looks like a formal set up, but will be juxtaposed with a family-style food service that is more communal, warm, and inviting. It has fun decorations, but ultimately, is not too stiff.

Don’t be afraid of choosing a color palette that is different from your traditional holiday colors. For Christmas, for example, instead of using just red and green, adding different hues of those colors will make it unique: a warm raspberry, wine, and even a lighter fern color. Additionally, you can always add accents that pair well to finish it off, like, french blue, midnight, and amber.

Guest Experience

As the host, your job is to help guests get acquainted and comfortable with each other. The best gift you can give your guests is to set the tone yourself by being relaxed and convivial. Upon arrival, greet your guests with a glass of something wonderful: either a glass of red, cider, or sparkling water. Think about how your guests will interact with each other. Get them chatting by including a tidbit about each person when you introduce them, and if two guests share a common interest, be sure to mention it to them. For the dinner table, consider place cards for groups of eight or more, especially if not everyone knows each other.

It’s always a wonderful idea to make your guests feel special. One way I like to do that during the holidays is to write special notes for each person, place it into an envelope with their name calligraphed by my friend Nicole of The Left Handed Calligrapher, and place them in our Christmas tree. Upon arrival, when guests are greeted with a beverage before dinner begins, they will be encouraged to pick out their envelope. The envelopes serve not just as beautiful ornaments, but are a great conversation starter and let your guests know how special they are to you.

Scandinavian Inspired Holiday Décor Shoot with a Wreath Making Tutorial

This dreamy Scandinavian-inspired styled Christmas shoot is simple, elegant and everything our neutral loving hearts could ever desire! Take a look and be sure to check out the tutorial on how to make a wreath of your own!

The shoot centered around creating beautiful and simple holiday décor, inspired by Scandinavian design, using lots of foraged natural elements like fresh greenery and berries.

Wreath Tutorial

Create a simple fresh foraged holiday wreath:

1. Gather your materials: you’ll need a sharp floral clipper, floral wire, and a wire wreath frame. Snip the evergreen branches.

2. Cedar is a favorite of mine because the soft silvery-blue berries add even more texture to the design. Other evergreens such as pine, spruce or fir will work perfectly too.

3. Start by placing a branch or small bunch of the evergreen on the frame and attach it by tightly wrapping the wire around three or four times.

4. Don’t cut the wire; continue by adding the next bunch of greenery on top of the first.

5. Overlap the starting bunch by a couple of inches and keep all the stems going in the same direction, then wrap the wire around three or four times.

6. Continue this until you have made it all the way around to the starting point, then snip the wire and wrap it tightly around the wreath frame until it is secure.

7. To add more interest to the wreath I love to add a cluster of colorful berries, pine cones, or dried flowers. Bright red holly and nandina berries are a couple of my favorites. Shiny green and brown magnolia leaves are also a fun choice and add a contrasting texture to your wreath. Dried flowers like strawflower or celosia could also add a vibrant pop of color to your design. You can nestle these into the branches of the wreath and attach to the wire frame with a small piece of floral wire if needed.

8. My favorite way to finish off a wreath is by tying on a pretty silk or velvet ribbon in a loose bow with long tails.

From Erica Estrada DesignThis editorial features vibrant and bold, autumnal colors that are evident in each frame. The aim for this shoot was to bring a refined and polished aesthetic representative of the New York bridal market.

It was captured by film photographer, Ellie Koleen, at the charming Park Winters located right outside of Sacramento, California. Its unique grounds made for the perfect setting for wedding inspiration. The groom’s dijon mustard jacket and bride’s stunning, high neck bridal gown represent a subtle expression of confidence, which perfectly complemented the turn of the season in the trees.

Complete with many textures and a variation in florals and foliage, the arrangements designed by Shannon of ARVO Floral Studio served as a main focal point on the tables. The lush, neutral shade of wild grass that outlines the property in addition to the couple’s wardrobe, florals, and tablescape perfectly represent all that is autumn.
