Old World Opulence at the Historic Vizcaya Gardens & Museum

From the storybook staircases, to the Spanish moss swaying in the trees, every corner of Vizcaya inspired each of our design details…” says Janna Brown Design of the overall inspiration behind today’s gorgeous styled shoot. We’re completely, head over heels, in love with the lush arrangements in dusty rose hues that perfectly complimented the surrounding gardens. Not to mention the bride’s knockout Monique Lhuillier gown that brought an old world Spanish feel to the aesthetic. To see all the pretty unfold, you have to head on over to the full gallery – taken by the ever so talented Lost Coast Photography!

From Janna Brown Design…. Immersing ourselves in the Spanish influences of Vizcaya, we built our design to embrace all of the unique beauty that this unparalleled venue presented.

From the storybook staircases, to the Spanish moss swaying in the trees, every corner of Vizcaya inspired each of our design details. Our bride donned layers of lace in a dramatic gown, paired with a lace tipped veil that trailed behind her for an old world Spanish aesthetic.

We warmed the palette with subtle pink and dusty rose tones that complimented the painted stonework throughout the gardens and the sunkissed skin of our resplendent bride. Our paper goods were inspired by the lush botanical gardens, with intricate floral and foliage sketches carried through the suite. Our reception tables boasted luxurious pooling linens, topped with gold rimmed dinnerware, crystal glassware, custom menus and an abundance of blooms…

A Venue Change 2 Weeks Before the Big Day Allowed for This Couple’s Dream Wedding to Become a Reality!

COVID couples – we have to hand it to you. To put it lightly, you guys are total rockstars. From last minute venue changes to reducing your guest list, and every less-than-ideal situation in between… y’all are truly wedding warriors (that goes for all the incredible vendors that helped get them there, too, of course!) Today’s wedding planning journey wasn’t without a myriad of hiccups, but the end result was nothing short of spectacular. Jacqueline Hallgarth brought their dream Kestrel Park wedding to life, while Jenny Quicksall Photography captured all the inspiring details and blooms by Of The Flowers – see it all at the full gallery!

From the Bride… We met September 7, 2014 in Denver, CO. I was meeting my childhood friend at a sports bar called the Icehouse for the first NFL game of the year. Travis was there and we started chatting. The group he was a part of left to go to another location since one of the football games had ended, and I left with another friend headed somewhere else. There was just something about Travis that I wanted to explore further. So my friend and I rented city bikes and rode 3 miles from downtown Denver to gov’s park. Once I got there Travis and I talked again, he got my number and offered to give me a ride back to my friends house. During the drive we laughed and chatted about many things we had in common. We were so deep in conversation we ended up getting lost and had a mini adventure.

We finally arrived and he dropped me off. From that day on we talked for weeks getting to know each other. Travis then took the plunge to further our relationship. He came out to California and stayed with me for a weekend, which ended up blossoming our journey. Our original plan was to get married at Kestrel Park 8. 8. 20 with 150 family and friends in attendance. Once Covid hit we were still really optimistic and strong with moving toward our date as planned. We continued with the planning process as if nothing had happened and continued to pray and trust that things will work out as they are meant to be.

That being said we did have a plan b amongst ourselves. To have an intimate ceremony / wedding with our immediate family only. It was extremely important to me that my 97 year old grandmother see me get married this year no matter what. I am her only grandchild and she is one of the most important people in my life. About 6 weeks out from our wedding we found out our caterer would not be able to cater, our dress rehearsal location could not host us and things as planned did not seem to be falling into place. 5 weeks out we made the hard decision to postpone our big wedding to 2021. Jacqueline and we quickly jumped on letting all of our vendors, family, and friends know we would be postponing. At that time I also postponed my dress fittings and purchased a less conventional dress from Rime Arodaky to wear for the ranch wedding. (which I will wear next year at our celebration)

At the same time Jacquline, Travis and I quickly jumped on pulling on planning an intimate wedding at a new location in less than 5 weeks. After much deliberation we decided the ranch we originally booked for the bridal party and plus ones for our big wedding would be a great location for the micro wedding. The planning process for the intimate wedding started. As we got back in contact with some vendors to make the ranch wedding happen we found out that all soft hold dates for Kestrel Park got booked and there was no availability at Kestrel till 2022 just 3 weeks out from our small wedding. This was obviously some really tough news to hear. At this point Travis and I were both very emotionally drained and doing our best to stay positive. We had spent the last 7 months planning our wedding around Kestrel Park and couldn’t imagine it any other way. After much discussion we decided we wanted to move forward with Kestrel Park. We quickly shifted gears to the ceremony at Kestrel Park and dinner reception at the ranch.

After about a week of planning and two weeks out from our wedding we realized the ranch reception was not going to work. Jacqueline quickly communicated with Scott from Kestrel Park about having our ceremony, cocktail hours, and reception at Kestrel. He was very supportive and happy to host us. We were thrilled to be having our micro wedding all at Kestrel. When we had officially decided we were going to have our wedding at Kestrel Park we also decided we would like to have our family and friend who couldn’t be there in person join us virtually and allow us to do just a large celebration in person the following year. We quickly then had to get my dress and additional outfit fittings booked. Have our groomsmen order their tuxes, and get my dad out to California for his fittings. We also had to quickly get Swell Press to add an additional piece to our already printed and ready to go formal invitations and get them out the door to our guest so they could join us virtually. We also wanted to unite our virtual guests and wanted them to feel special. So we decided we wanted to send them a little gift with two monogrammed champagne glasses and a little champagne bottle so after the ceremony we could chat with all of them and have a united toast. Swell press and Jacqueline did an amazing job to pull this together 12 day out from our wedding and ensure they arrived to all of our guests on time.

We were extremely thankful and our virtual guests were very surprised and grateful! Also within the two week mark from our wedding day. Jacqueline was able to find us a location where we were able to have a dress rehearsal experience. We did not think this was going to happen and are very thankful Jacqueline was able to make it work at Petros Winery who hosted our 34 guests amongst 4 separate tables and served us a plated dinner with beer and wine. It was so fun and we were happy Travis’ family was able to celebrate his Hawaiian heritage and wedding traditions. As for the wedding experience. We did make one change from the original plan to the micro wedding. Originally we were going to have a ceremony / dinner reception flip at the tree lined driveway. Dinner originally was to be a kings table down the treeline drive. Then after dinner you everyone would gather at the stables for dancing, drinks, and celebrating. We also originally had planned for a live band that would gradually get larger from ceremony to reception. Since the wedding was smaller and reception was to be low key. We wanted our family to be able to experience all parts of the grounds so we had dinner and reception at the stables. Due to some Covid restrictions as well we did not have the band. Instead Travis and I put together playlists for the different experiences throughout the day. In the end we are so thrilled we had our micro wedding with our immediate family at Kestrel Park just how we had originally planned. It was truly a magical weekend where both of our families were able to truly become one family. We are so blessed to have an amazing support system and I am so thrilled to be a Domingo now.

Scenic Napa Nuptials With Pretty Pops Of Yellow And Blue

There’s nothing quite like Napa. Eye-catching colors, tantalizing textures, and the beauty of the great outdoors come together for this couple’s unforgettable California wedding expertly planned by Elise with Shannon Leahy Events. The elegant floral arrangements by Revel Floral create a romantic look we just can’t get enough of. The beauty, happiness, and love of the day shine in the imagery by Sposto Photography. Make sure to see the whole day unfold in the full gallery.

From Elise with Shannon Leahy EventsJessica and Chase really fell in love with the elegant barn and surrounding vineyards. They knew they wanted something to brighten up the space and give it an elevated, sophisticated feel.

They were both drawn to the color blue, and for even more color, we added accents of yellow. Since the barn features a lot of wood, we wanted to keep all of the decor light and bright.

We chose delicately embroidered linens and beautifully textured china for even more visual interest. It was a special celebration filled with joy and love.

A Ridiculously Dreamy Cielo Farms Wedding Inspired by All Things Provençal!

You’ll instantly fall in love with this ridiculously dreamy and romantic wedding at Cielo Farms! Since the bride’s family vacations in France every year, it only made sense that the French blue color would serve as the main inspiration for their wedding. The flowers from Heavenly Blooms alone make this affair an absolute must-see. Boy, are they certainly heavenly! From inviting tablescapes to a darling escort card display, details were clearly top-of-mind in the planning of So Happi Together. Take a peek inside the full gallery, for all the swoon-worthy images shot by Melanie Osorio Photography.

How did you meet?

Akhil and I met at our office in 2012. We both were there for different reasons, but it wasn’t the right career decision for either of us. He always says that the only reason he worked in that office was to meet me, and I completely agree! We dated (in secret because our office was really small and we didn’t want anyone to know) for about a year and a half before the call to California came, and I told Akhil I really wanted to move. His response was “heck yea, let’s do it.” So a month later, we packed up everything and moved to California. What a wild ride.

Did you have a romantic proposal?

Yes! Akhil is truly incredible when it comes to romantic gestures. I literally had no idea and was completely shocked. We went to Ojai for the weekend – our favorite place to unwind, relax and recalibrate. We had just come back from a truly beautiful hike in the mountains and were about to head out for a late dinner when Akhil pulled me to the back door. He opened the curtains, and I saw endless candles laid out on our private patio, along with 5,000 rose petals. I was a little confused and looked to him to tell me what was going on, and at that exact moment Elvis Presley’s rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” came on the speakers. I immediately started crying. You always think you’ll keep it together when the time comes but then in the moment, it’s so much better than you could have ever imagined. He took my hand, brought me to the center of the circle of candles and rose petals, and got down on one knee. I literally couldn’t stop crying at that point and honestly didn’t remember a word he said – all I remember hearing was “I’ve known you for five years and I am still so nervous right now”. That brought me back to the present moment in time for him to actually ask the question. I immediately said yes and jumped in his arms. We popped a bottle of champagne and celebrated by watching the sunset surrounded by our blanket of candles until the sky darkened with twinkling stars and we went to an unbelievably wonderful dinner in town.

What was your inspiration for your wedding theme/colors?

My family vacations in France every year and I knew I wanted to pull a lot of those Provencal colors into our wedding. We both fell hard for the French blue color which served as our main inspiration for the wedding. Then we picked colors that complimented that – I knew we wanted to stay with soft colors so we did lots of light pinks, soft greens, delicate whites. Cielo is such a gorgeous venue on it’s own, and we wanted to play off that organic, soft, elegant feel. Our florist hit the ball way out of the park and overdelivered on the most gorgeous flowers I have literally ever seen. So many people came up to me over the next few days to tell me how stunning the set up was. And the grapes and pears on the table were absolutely the perfect compliment. If I could go back and live inside that day every day, I would.

How was the planning process?

Honestly so fun. I also had the world’s best planners to work with – Nancy and Pae of So Happi Together. Could NOT recommend them highly enough. We loved all of it! The cake tasting, the floral planning by the incredible Jackie Breault, the design planning, the photographers Melanie and Manny of Melanie Osorio Photography, the invitations done by the amazing Claire Carstens. We had the best vendors in every possible way and loved the planning process!

Do you have any special or memorable moments from your wedding day you’d like to share?

Too many. The whole wedding was unbelievably special for us because it was so intimate and personal — both of our families played huge roles in the wedding ceremony. My brother was the officiant, and one of Akhil’s two best men. My Dad, Mom, and Akhil’s Mom all read a prayer – my Dad read one in Hebrew, my Mom read an Irish prayer, and Akhil’s Mom sang a beautiful Hindu prayer. It was unbelievably meaningful and is truly something we will cherish forever.

Our first dance was also enchanting and everything you want it to be and so much more. And the Father daughter dance was truly spectacular. I look up to my Dad so incredibly much and that is a moment I will remember for the rest of my life. Laughing, dancing, goofing around together. Akhil and his Mom did the most incredible and inspiring Hindi dance which was incredible to see, and then Akhil’s Mom (an incredible dancer) did another dance with her husband, as well as one by herself. It was so gorgeous to see the blend of the cultures play out in our wedding.

They say that your wedding day is the best day of your life and there was a part of me that really didn’t want to believe that. During the planning process, I thought it was because of all the beautiful elements of the wedding – and they are so so important. But the reason the wedding day is the BEST day of your life is because all of your loved ones, and all of your persons’ loved ones are right there with you, for the whole weekend. And they are all there FOR you. It’s the best gift anyone could ever give you- ever. The amount of pure joy and happiness that fills you on that day — it is unreal. I can’t tell you how many times I go back and revisit my wedding day and just smile and cry tears of joy. It was without a doubt the best weekend of my life. From our amazing rehearsal dinner on the beach to the welcome drinks we hosted at the Four Seasons on Friday night, every inch of it was absolutely coated in love.

There is no way to accurately sum up all the incredibleness that happens during your wedding weekend. And especially the wedding day. It is unbelievable truly, and it does go by in a flash. But it is worth every single second.

Calling All Bridgerton Fans! This Fine Art Editorial At The Westgate Hotel Is For You!

It’s safe to say (mostly) everyone has now seen Bridgerton, and if you haven’t…what are you waiting for?! This epic team of vendors came together to create this fine art editorial, completely inspired by the Netflix hit, and boy did they nail it! Taking place at The Westgate Hotel in San Diego, you are instantly transported to the English Countryside with its exquisite details and charm. Add in a variety of blue and purple florals by Tularosa Flowers, not one but two stunning bridal gowns, and elegant table settings all planned by Love Always Planning and you have a wedding set for a Duke and Duchess! Check out Carrie McGuire Photography‘s dreamy images and even a few fitting cocktail recipes to really get you inspired!

From Carrie McGuire PhotographyIngredients for a Bridgerton inspired wedding…

Take one part swoon-worthy designer gowns, mix with 3 parts gasp-inducing jewels, 5 parts over the top florals, swirled with 3 parts exquisite china and crystal, stir in a dashing groom and lovely bride, intoxicating cocktails and top with delectable desserts and viola’ you have a wedding fit for a Duke and Duchess!

Who hasn’t been swept up in the visual feast that is Netflix’s most-watched series EVER?! Well, the team behind this stunning fine art editorial was completely smitten with it and decided they absolutely must do an editorial to showcase how to incorporate Bridgertonesque details into a modern luxury wedding.

Since European travel is still not feasible, the team chose a stateside location that has all the grandeur and exquisite antiques of a fine English country house, right in the heart of downtown San Diego. The Westgate Hotel was the backdrop for an elegant fine art editorial filled with stunning details.

We’re so excited to share with you the ethereal images overflowing with grand design from Tularosa Flowers, exquisite tabletop from Hostess Haven, couture cocktails from Bubbles and Brews, all planned to perfection by Love Always Planning.

Our lovely bride looks utterly charming in 2 luxurious gowns from Marchesa Bridal and Halfpenny London, both from En Blanc Bridal Boutique. Crowned with an incredible handcrafted golden thread and jeweled tiara from Edera bridal, soft and romantic make-up and hair from KC Witkamp and exquisite kitten heeled, bow-adorned pumps from Something Bleu.

No wedding ensemble would be complete without breathtaking jewels, and the diamond and sapphire ring from Everett Fine Jewelry are everything an aspiring Duchess could want.

Our Duke is resplendent in 2 looks as well. First, a blue and champagne velvet brocade jacket and double-breasted waistcoat with white silk hand-tied bowtie and pocket watch pin all from Giovanni Testini available at Suit Fellas, and a second look in a champagne dinner jacket adorned with a jeweled lapel pin. Sapphire blue velvet quilted loafers complete the look adding that touch of luxe.

The Westgate’s Versaille Ballroom is the perfect backdrop for a grand wedding and Wedding Designer Dawn Weisberg of Tularosa Flowers designed a breathtaking installation on the hotel’s iconic gold and marble fireplace. Vines and greenery grow up the mirror and cascade over the edge creating a dramatic and romantic backdrop for the ceremony. Garden roses in nude combine effortlessly with blush lilies, blue delphinium, cobalt anemones, variegated mint green hydrangea, and green hellebores to create an installation that is wildly modern while being rooted in a traditional vernacular.

The aisle is decorated with alternating growing flowers and vine-covered candelabra nestled amongst groupings of antique furniture for the ceremony seating, creating a grand entrance for the bride.

One of our favorite ways of incorporating Bridgertonisms, is in the cocktail menu and cocktails created by Jucy Bartending for Bubbles and Brews. We thought Lady Whistledown’s Scandal Sheet would make the perfect cocktail menu and Papertree Studio created a stunning version, as well as an invitation suite fit for a princess.

Cocktails of the Court – Titillating Libations to quench or fan the armourous fires?

The Duke

2 parts dashing dry wit and dry vermouth with 3 parts Gin of the Empress to intoxicate the lovely lasses, a touch of Giffard Pamplemousse to soften their protestations and enliven the senses, with a healthy dose of daring Butterfly Blue tea and a twirling twist of sensual citrus. Shake vigorously with manly vigor and top with a delicate blossom to entice the ladies.

The Daphne

Perfectly proper London Dry Gin meets daringly bold and sensuously sweet Triple Sec in a heavenly swirl of lemon juice and egg white foam with just a dash of sugary sweetness. A topping of couture cocktail art will be sure to have the lads enraptured with this modicum of beverage bodaciousness.

The Lady Whistledown

Shrouded in secrecy the Elderflower cordial and gin infusion of this most improper potation will have even the most rigid of matrons twirling round the ballroom. Nose tickling bubbles will set the ladies giggling with speculation as to the mystery ingredients.

It wouldn’t be English without tea, so why not incorporate high tea elements into the usual cocktail hour. The Westgate’s high tea is a perfect pairing complete with finger sandwiches, petit fours, macaroon, and pastries. Perfect tidbits to tantalize the palate before a sumptuous meal.

Reception for the wedding was dreamed up as an intimate affair in a private suite of the Hotel, perfect for a smaller-scale wedding. With walls paneled in exquisitely figured blush silk jacquard, it’s the perfect setting for a sumptuous meal. The reception decor designed by Tularosa Flowers is set with celadon-colored Peau de Soie linens from La Tavola, vintage brass flatware, blue and white toile dinner plates, with a seafoam green salad plate and light blue linen napkins, and gold-rimmed cut crystal stemware, all from Hostess Haven. Toile vellum place cards from Paper Tree Studios complement the look and florals from Tularosa in vintage porcelain and crystal vases with flower-adorned candelabra complete the classically styled table decor.

The bridal portraits from Carrie Mcguire Photography are beyond stunning. Veiled in delicate silk tulle from Daphne Newman. The bride looks like the epitome of a Duchess to be. What’s left for Bridgerton worthy wedding? Well, we can’t forget the lingerie! Your something blue can be this lovely and delicate embroidered lace set, or a classic white ensemble complete with side bows and puff sleeves, designed by Joy Proctor for Girl and A Serious Dream in delicate French lace

Lest we forget our other romantic heroines, our Marina is resplendent in a butterfly and petal embellished ballgown from Liz Martinez and gold and pearl hair wire from Edera.

But what wedding would be complete without a glorious cake? This beauty from Hey There Cupcake is a masterpiece of sugar artistry. The blue and white toile pattern is echoed in the cake’s elegant fondant finish and is topped with lighter than air sugar art and delicate wafer butterflies. We are all for letting them eat cake, especially when it’s one as exquisite and delicious as this!

Old World Opulence Meets Contemporary And Classic Aesthetic

When a talented team of vendors comes together to create gorgeous inspiration for the modern bride, everyone wins. Janna Brown Design and Ema Giangreco Weddings joined forces to create a wonderfully romantic day that is a dream to witness. Their combined expertise in luxury events is showcased in the exquisite fine art frames by Jessica Mangia Photography. Take a closer look at all the ethereal moments in the full gallery.

From Jessica Grazia MangiaJanna Brown Design did it again and hosted a marvelous editorial that was a dream to capture. When designing her editorial at Vizcaya, Janna said, “We aimed to balance the Spanish architecture and dilapidated stone textures with luxurious linens, rich touches of deep green and gold, and a feminine ambiance of an ethereal bride.”

A crisp A-line gown from Monique Lhuillier, paired with cream and white florals and a sleek tuxedo created a classic aesthetic against the old world opulence of Vizcaya and the gardens.

Contemporary glassware and a modern typeface were juxtaposed with delicate hand lettering, tattered textures, and billowing silks for an intentional fusion of the old and new. You can enjoy this pure eye candy through the details purposely offered by the talented team of vendors.

Lennon’s Little Legends Party: Exceptional Men in Black History

Aside from how insanely adorable sweet little Lennon is, the star behind today’s birthday party, the one thing that truly made us stand in awe, was Lennon’s incredible mama. As one of the more thoughtfully crafted celebrations we’ve ever seen, she designed a day inspired by a favorite book of Lennon’s, Vashti Harrison’s “Little Legends, Exceptional Men in Black History” with the hopes that through imagery and design, she could represent her little boy in the most beautiful light possible. Read on to see how she did just that, and so much more. Photos by Kara Coleen.

It’s no secret that it’s been a tough year for children. I wanted to do something at home for Lennon’s birthday to honor his heritage. Ever since he was a baby, we’ve been reading a page of Vashti Harrison’s “Little Legends, Exceptional Men in Black History” to him every night. When we read together, we focus on one individual and his accomplishments. As he’s getting older, Lennon is starting to look forward to this. Thus, it seemed like a wonderful theme for his birthday celebration.

Images are powerful and shape our experience and identity. I wanted him to feel represented in a beautiful light. The cover of the book was my inspiration. I worked with Moon Rising, an incredible designer that helped me recreate Lennon in the same style as the characters in the book. He was now front and center as he is an exceptional black boy, soon to be man.

Each child had a bookmark highlighting a different character from the book, with their own names written on the back. We had library cards made so that they can continue with the rest of the book series, reading about exceptional people in history.

I kept the color scheme the same as the cover of the book, focusing on black, white, mint and yellow stars. Working with Pavan Floral is always a pleasure. The florals she creates are stunning. They always fit perfectly with my aesthetic.

Creative Amme always comes up with the cutest ideas for signage and stir sticks. We featured Lennon face stir sticks that the kids all loved and the signage was perfect for the occasion.

Janice Wong’s desserts never disappoints. The centerpiece was a beautiful cake with hand painted characters. The cookies featured the faces of the characters in the book and the cake pops had a printed image of the cover.

The star of the show was the incredible backdrop provided by Modest Peach. They recreated the cover and had each life sized character standing on podiums.

A bbq lunch catered by the incredible Sarah of Active Palate was the perfect meal. The children had Mac and Cheese Cups and Fried Chicken Sliders, while the adults had BBQ and a beautiful grazing table put together by Cheese Pretty Please. A yummy green juice for the kids and sangria for adults by Nate Parker really complimented the meal.

The incredible Kara Coleen shot this day for us. She helped us capture the magic of a day and gave us a keepsake that will allow Lennon to always remember this celebration. How special he is. How exceptional he is and to always, shoot for the stars.

Prepare to Be Inspired by This “Less Is More” Simplistic Wedding Design at a Private Estate in Napa Valley

When the bride is a fashion buyer, you know her wedding is guaranteed to be completely fashion-forward! Jackie’s keen design sense beautifully translated into a “less is more” vision for this lovely fall day in Napa Valley, California. Incorporating the finest and simplistic details, Detailed Touch Events planned the day to perfection. We have a fondness for everything delicate and dainty, so it’s no wonder why the flowers delivered by Charlotte & Daughters are the most adorable white blooms we’ve ever seen. Head on over to the full gallery, elegantly captured by The Ganeys, for a major dose of inspo and romance!

From Detailed Touch EventsJackie and Andrej’s wedding was exciting to take on because Jackie, a fashion buyer, has a beautifully trained eye for chic and timeless fashion that translated into a “less is more” simplistic wedding design. My love for design is rooted in my background in fashion marketing and production so I knew this was a great fit. The planning process was going impeccable for 6 months and then Covid hit. Planning this wedding in the middle of Covid was a strain that so many people can relate to.

A couple months prior to their wedding, Jackie and Andrej made the difficult decision to downsize their wedding guest list from 200 to less than 40 so they could move forward with their original wedding plans. Then a couple weeks prior to their wedding, the original venue’s county was on a mandated stay at home order to which we had to move to another venue. The new location was in a different county (hours away) without the state mandate restrictions.

This changed all of the logistics and flipped the wedding design upside down. We had to forgo all of the rentals that Jackie and I meticulously planned for months as well as source a couple of new vendors. With of all of the obstacles Jackie and Andrej were faced with, they continued to handle each hurdle with grace. It is a true testament to their love of each other; knowing that at the end of the day, marriage and starting their new life together as one is what will always be most important!

From the bride, Jackie… Our wedding story was anything but normal! When we first started planning in 2019, we knew that we wanted to have a full wedding weekend with our families. We are both one of six children and have very large extended families so we were expecting to have a huge wedding. But then COVID hit and all of that went out the window. Our wedding was planned for September 2020, and in June, we made the decision to have a family-only wedding in Carmel. The weeks leading up to our wedding, we realized that the venue’s county would still be on restrictions so we had to pivot locations.

Simultaneously, California was being engulfed in smoke from wildfires. We were absolutely devastated. We had already planned and paid for everything and our family had changed and canceled plans to attend our wedding so canceling the entire wedding last minute wasn’t an option. We were prepared to have a last-minute backyard wedding at the very least! Thankfully we found a beautiful private estate in Northern California that could house our entire family for the weekend. Our planner and all of our vendors were amazing in being flexible to help us safely pull off a wedding in under two weeks. The smoke from the wildfires miraculously cleared for the three days during our wedding weekend and it ended up being the most amazing weekend we could have asked for. It wasn’t the wedding we planned for, but we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.

A Classic French-Baroque Inspired Affair in the Heart of Texas

Get your Pinterest finger ready, this Texas wedding is filled with French-Baroque touches that will make your heart skip a beat. The bride and groom worked with Maren Bellington to create a day that’s equal parts classic and elegant. Fabulous flowers in white designed by Blushington Blooms add to the opulence. You’ll fall in love with every inspired image by Mackenzie Reiter Photography. Visit the full gallery for even more lovely.

From Mackenzie Reiter Photography… High school sweethearts Elizabeth and Connor were just weeks away from their big day at The Olana, a stately mansion with French countryside elegance just outside of Dallas when it became a real possibility that our wedding could be canceled due to the pandemic.

Weddings in Texas were permitted to resume at the end of May. Elizabeth and Connor’s opulent, timeless day was spared just in time and with overwhelming gratitude. From the sparkling chandeliers, lush landscaping, pink velvet walls, and a hand-carved spiral staircase, the day had an atmosphere worthy of royalty.

“No amount of preparation can ensure that your day will turn out as planned, so try to be flexible,” said Elizabeth the bride. “Even though this pandemic makes the planning process more difficult, there are still options! Don’t forget that.”

A Kitchen Reno that Went From Drab to SERIOUSLY!?

This might be the single most “are you serious” transformation we have ever seen. While subtly changing up the footprint, moving around cabinets and the positioning of the island, saturating the room in head to toe white and gorgeous hardware, this kitchen had a full on swan song makeover. Designed by Anna Beth Eskridge of Making Room for Peace, we are SO here for all of the pretty. Head to the end to see the incredible before and afters! Photos by We are Luke & Ashley.

Talk about serendipity and you would have to talk about the Del Ray Project. The location, the social connections and overall design process. There was a seamless workflow that was an absolute pleasure to be apart of!

While this might sounds crazy, the saying is true…”inspiration is everywhere!” So no joke, one of the very first decisions that we made was that we HAD to have these Gabby Decor counter stools! From there, the look and feel of the new kitchen began to really take shape.

When it came to the styling of the Del Ray Project, we kept the accent pieces light in color but heavy in texture! With such a bright, white kitchen we didn’t want to bring anything jarring, as it would take away from the elegance of the space; so we used a lot of materials such as worn wood (i.e. vintage cutting boards), blown glass seltzer bottles, heirloom silver trays and European apothecary jars. We also brought in special pieces that belonged to the client like a gorgeous vintage rug!

Pro Tip: We love using heirloom pieces when styling our client’s homes. In the Del Ray Project we were able to incorporate our client’s Turkish rug and vintage salt and pepper shakers. These moments, these found objects, are what really make a space feel like “home.”

Since the space isn’t incredibly large, we thoughtfully chose each piece to have meaning and purpose. To elevate the bones and provide a useable moment of beauty, from the hardware we chose to the furniture and decor. This Gabby accent table was another splurge but one that was well worth-it! The beautiful flower-shaped rim adds a softness and feminine nod to the space.

Wanting to keep the design of the room fairly simple to bring a more open feeling to the space, we incorporated the existing love-seat while also bringing in matching floor lamps and woven accent tables. This set-up really helped to create a cozy space that still provided a large enough walk-way for kitchen traffic.

We have to give a special shout-out to Moore Construction Group, who designed the layout of this space. They did a fabulous job not only creating better flow but incorporating enough storage so that every nook and cranny could be put to use. You walk into this kitchen now and feel like you can breathe (and move!).

The accent pieces within the space are absolutely beautiful, and are ones that will age well over time. The Circa Lighting pendants tie in beautifully and emphasize our goal to allow this space to age gracefully, the textiles capitalize on forever fabrics, the decor is a balance of old and new and the simple, clean palette means that food, family and love can take center stage.

BEFORE / AFTER

Brace yourselves for the incredible, full bodied before and after.

Before, the kitchen was dark and crowded, to say the least. As with most older homes, space is at a premium so one of the things that we knew would have to go was the peninsula! Not only did it make the kitchen tight but it blocked any sort of flow. We opened up that side of the kitchen and instead, installed a sleek island for more counter space and seating.

While it is our desire to create beautiful spaces, it is our goal to create those beautiful spaces that will also be functional, that will bless our clients with a life more easily lived. It’s been music to our ears to hear from Andy and Babs on how much they’ve enjoyed using their kitchen. Due to Covid (and working from home), Babs often finds herself working at the island here.

Photography: We Are Luke & Ashley | Interior Design: Making Room for Peace

In the evenings, you can bet that Andy is at stove whipping up something magical. In the months to come, as more people are vaccinated and cases continue to go down, you can bet that there will be friends and family over, eating and laughing around the island!

See Dylan and Cole Sprouse Looking “Suite” at Their Best Friend’s Gorgeous Descanso Gardens Wedding

Be prepared for the ultimate dose of pretty at this Thai-American summer garden wedding! Duan & Craig met in 2010 on the set of Disney channel’s “The Suite Life on Deck”, so fittingly, the iconic Dylan and Cole Sprouse served as the best men at their wedding (fangirl moment!). Their wedding at Descanso Gardens was filled with elements of tasteful blush tones, all pulled together by the wizardry of Leilani Weddings. Shindig Chic absolutely blew us away with their summery and feminine arrangements. Just look at those bouquets! Head to the full gallery, captured perfectly by Mist of Morning Photography, for a closer look at all the fun!

From Mist of Morning PhotographyDuan & Craig met in 2010 on the set of Disney channel’s “The Suite Life on Deck”. Duan had noticed Craig after seeing him regularly at work, but it wasn’t until she was directed to cross his line of vision during a scene that he first saw her. After chatting in person, they began messaging on Facebook and haven’t gone a single day without talking since. Fittingly, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, who have become like brothers to the couple, served as the best men at their wedding.

Duan & Craig’s wedding brought them from Brooklyn, New York back home to Los Angeles, where they celebrated with 130 of their closest friends and family members. Their nuptials took place on a dreamy summer day at Descanso Garden – a romantic garden venue just outside of LA. Duan & Craig had some initial ideas of what they wanted their wedding to look like, but ultimately, they put a lot of trust in their vendors to guide them through the planning and design, and the outcome of that collaborative process was a tasteful, blush toned wedding palette with green and gold accents, and vintage touches throughout.

The creative freedom that they gave Leilani Weddings and Shindig Chic allowed the final look of the wedding design & florals to be somewhat of a surprise, and both Duan & Craig said that they were blown away when they saw how everything had come together, and that it completely exceeded their expectations. Reflecting on what their favorite part of the day was, Duan & Craig both said, without hesitation, “the Thai ceremony”. From the first time they ever discussed getting married early on in their relationship, the decision of whether or not to have a traditional Thai ceremony wasn’t even a question.

The main part of the Thai ceremony is the water blessing (Rod Num Sang) where guests approach the bride & groom and offer well-wishes as they pour water down their hands. Each water blessing was deeply personal, often accompanied by laughter and joyful tears, making this emotional ceremony a personal career favorite to witness.

The guests thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the wedding ceremony in such a unique way, and it allowed Duan & Craig the opportunity to connect with each person individually. These two make love look easy even though it’s not always quite so simple.

I heard numerous sincere remarks from guests on how much they admired Duan & Craig and the decade long relationship that they have built together. Their friends and family describe their love as one to follow, and it was a true privilege to celebrate with & honor them as well as the people who helped to bring them there. Enjoy!

4 Things Moms Can Make Magic With When Their Daughter Is a Bride

Moms are the best, aren’t they – especially when it comes to making their kids happy (and no matter how old you are, you’re still their baby #momsmaketherules, sorry). It’s true, when you get engaged and start the planning process, the day that lies ahead is yours; however, it’s also a huge day for your parents and an occasion that’s been on the radar for as long as you’ve been in a relationship with your fiancé/fiancée. Whether you’re the first in your family to walk down the aisle or the last to take your vows, if you have a wedding on the horizon, it’s every bit as exciting and daunting, exhilarating and exhausting to mom (and dad, of course, but today we’re talking about her) as it is to you.

She probably started reading up on her role as soon as that ring was slipped on your finger, but just in case she needs a refresher on the responsibilities that typically fall in her court, we’ve outlined everything below. Again, since it’s 2021, rules and etiquette aren’t the end-all-be-all that they were decades ago – but it’s still nice to have a ‘how-to MOB like a boss’ go-to guide to get started. So, if your mama just got promoted from mother to mother of the bride, maybe just leave this up on your computer for some serendipitous snooping on her part. She knows what to do and will be there for you 100p (with a shoulder to cry on, annoying albeit par for the course motherly advice to keep getting your sleep, and special gifts to make you feel like the prettiest bride there ever was), but she’ll still want to rise to this very important occasion – and we know exactly what she’ll shine with.

Read on for 4 things every mother of the bride can do to show her support leading up to the special day.

Gear up for planning in the year 2021.

We’re not saying that wedding planning is an entirely new process in 2021, but it’s likely a lot different than it was when your mother was planning for her own day way back when. Add to this the fact that a global pandemic wasn’t part of the big picture, either. So, for mothers of the bride who want to be the best partners in crime for their soon-to-wed daughters, staying up to date with wedding trends, tips, and to-dos and tackling some of the hardest touch points of your planning timeline is tremendously helpful.

Set up your dress shopping appointments.

Historically speaking, the bride’s parents would pay for her wedding dress/gown, but these days, that’s not always the case (doesn’t have to be – sometimes the bride wants to cover the costs on her own!). Still, most mothers of the bride will book bridal appointments and accompany their daughters on at least the first day of dress shopping. And when it comes to sussing out styles and pros-and-conning certain silhouettes that fit you best, she’ll be an incredible and honest sounding board + the best person to calm you down if the experience gets overwhelming or uniquely pressure-some.

Bonus bragging points for mamas who come prepared with:

Host your pre-wedding event(s).

For as long as we can remember, the bridal shower has long been on the list of lots of mothers of the bride. It’s not mandatory, of course, but it’s a privilege that mothers love to take on in their daughters’ honor. So, that involves scouting out venues (or choosing to host at home), settling on a guest list, planning out a menu, organizing the run of show for the day, figuring out favors, brainstorming games/activities, all of it, really.

Bonus bragging points for mamas who hype up their baby girl’s bride status with:

Get you ready on the morning of [your wedding].

There is nothing we love more than the photos of a bride and her mom on the morning of her wedding – ones that illustrate a powerful bond and friendship (that was started well before a wedding was even a thought). For mothers of the bride, this is the time to bring your daughters their favorite caffeinated cup to relax and sip once they’ve made it to their bridal suite. It’s also a wonderful time to bring a few secret or unexpected things to add to their ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’ inspiration. Maybe it’s a gorgeous piece of jewelry or a family heirloom that truly levels up your aisle style when you need it most.

A Soft and Serene Nursery Built for the Sweetest Twins Ever

While I have designed 3 nurseries for my own little ones (to be fair, the first one was lovely, though they got progressively less lovely with each subsequent baby and a very tired mama), I cannot imagine the simultaneous joy and confusion that comes with designing a space built for two babies. But for mom and wedding planner behind Vanessa Michelle Co., it was a task that she was so grateful to tackle and the result was a space fit for the sweetest little prince and princess you have ever seen. With art-worthy images that they will forever treasure by Sposto Photography.

We had been dreaming of designing our nursery for years, but the universe had a different plan for us. It took us almost 4 years to finally get pregnant with the help of an angel doctor and IVF. All of those tortuous years were worth it when we got the call that we were pregnant.

We found out a couple weeks later that we were blessed with twins! One boy and one girl and so the designing began!

We love restoration hardware and pottery barn’s aesthetic and pulled inspiration from them. I wanted it to feel ethereal and magical because I felt these babies were just that….. magical.

We have a gray and nude color palette throughout the house and wanted to continue that into the nursery. We wanted the gray to represent our boy, Michael Anthony and the nude / blush to represent our girl, Isabella Rose.

I found this gorgeous Parisian wallpaper at Mahones Wallpaper shop that ignited the design. We built a piece to put the wallpaper on so we did not have to wallpaper the entire wall, then we centered an arch top mirror in the middle.

Naturally, as a wedding planner, tulle has my heart and I wanted to incorporate the gorgeous fabric along with gilded crowns above each crib.  I also added 2 dressers with changing table tops so if I had help we could change the twins at the same time.

A reading corner was very important to me as I was hoping to encourage the babies to be avid readers … which they are! I spent many hours rocking these sweet babies in my chair and enjoying every baby snuggle.

This space is so special to us and I enjoyed planning each detail that carried so much weight of gratitude that they chose us as their parents. I never understood how special a nursery could be until it was filled with so much love! We walk into this room with a joyous heart and such fulfillment.

This Garden Chic Wedding Was Held At A Mountain Base

Jessica and Eddie welcomed guests to the bride’s family home at the base of Mount Si for a weekend that no one will soon forget. The couple had a chic and minimal vibe at the core of their wedding aesthetic and worked with Event Planning and Wedding Design Company Elle and James Co. to bring her vision to life. The mother of the Bride, an avid gardener, manicured the property specifically for this event and began growing the flowers in the field months in advance to coordinate with the look of the naturally grown wildflower design by Gather Design Company. Every last photo by The Ganeys is a sight to be seen. Don’t miss a single detail in the full gallery.

From Elle and James Co.When planning their wedding, from the very beginning one thing was clear, Jess wanted to honor her parents and the wonderful childhood she had growing up in North Bend, WA by hosting their loved ones at the Hargett Family home. Located at the base of Mount Si, Jessica’s inspiration was drawn largely from images she had seen of weddings taking place in distant travel locations like New Zealand, Australia, and Big Sur.

Rather than holding a micro ceremony, they adhered to the safety protocols while continuing with full tablescapes and increasing the decor elements in order to create the illusion of fully seated tables, but with spaced out chairs to maintain social distance. Their guests sat by household in clusters for the ceremony and florals were hand “planted” in the ground around each pod to bring the illusion of guests seated amidst growing wildflowers.

Jessica and Ed knew their guest list would look a bit different than originally planned, but from the moment their wedding began to the very last dance of the night, love was present in every moment and it truly felt like the perfect day.

The Ultimate Whimsical Rose Garden Wedding Inspiration at Rosewood Farms!

Pastel colors and a bride and groom surrounded by lush florals make for the most whimsical garden wedding planned by Styled Shoots Across America and Heather Benge Events at Rosewood Farms which is a venue like no other with so many picturesque backdrops. Not only did the beautiful bride steal the show, but the florals which were done in combination by Wilkins Taylor Designs, J. Starrs Flower Barn, and Monteray Farms truly made this inspiration shoot dreamlike from the blooming aisle and ceremony arch to the brides overflowing bouquet. Take a peek at all of the Brittany Frisch Photography captured and get ready to plan your garden party!

From Brittany Frisch PhotographyAs the snow melts and gives way to flowers opening, there is hope and joy in the air that spring brings with it. This whimsical, spring-inspired rose garden wedding was truly full of joy and delicate colors. What better way to celebrate spring than surrounded by roses and soft florals – from the arches of greenery and blooms adorning the ceremony site to the jeweled petals in the bride’s hair and the graceful and breathtaking bouquet that she carried, the couple was encompassed by color.

The elation as they ran down the aisle together reflected the mood of the season and the palette surrounding the couple. It wouldn’t truly be spring without a little rain, but that only added to the whimsy, as the couple shared a kiss under their umbrella.

This event was thoughtfully put together by Styled Shoots Across America and Heather Benge Events, and the awe-inspiring florals were a collaboration of Wilkins Taylor Designs, J. Starr’s Flower Barn, and Monteray Farms. Rosewood Farms provided the perfect airy backdrop for this event. This talented team of vendors was truly able to speak to and reflect the beauty of spring.
