From Kelly Hornberger PhotographyIt was all about Northeast class meets Texas for Kelsey and Sean’s spring wedding! Kelsey took inspiration from one of her favorite movies, Parent Trap, being inspired by the mother, Elizabeth James’s wedding dress shop from the film.

Kelsey fit the part, wearing a stunning Carolina Herrera V-neck gown, with Sean in a dapper tux with monogramed cummerbund. After a traditional church ceremony, guests enjoyed a stunning clear tent outdoor reception, complete with blush draping and chandeliers.

The centerpieces featured Chinoiserie vases that added to the classic and preppy feel. The wedding was full of elegance, style, and love.

A Sophisticated Garden Wedding That Will Drown You in Happy Tears

The goal? An intimate wedding day with lavish backyard dinner party vibes. The result? Pure magic! The dashing grooms planned their big day with the help of The Gay Agenda Collective and their closest circle of friends. Stephen’s hand drawn floral stationery, eucalyptus arrangements, and fresh fruit bowls were botanical touches sprinkled among luxe metallic accents and a glamorous table setting. With six of the most important women in their lives standing by their sides, the couple lovingly celebrated the beginning of their new chapter and toasted to a lifetime of happiness with their chosen family. Savor all of the sweet moments and splendid details of this summertime soirée, captured by their dear friend Jon Cu, in the full gallery!

From the couple… We wanted an intimate evening surrounded by our closest friends. The goal was for it to feel like a dinner party in our backyard on a summer evening. Everything was personally done by us or by dear friends including the photographer and event coordinator.

My now husband made the cake from scratch. I designed and drew all of the stationary and flowers. My friend drew sketches for our place settings. My cousin performed our ceremony and our dear friend sang and played the piano throughout the night.

Our coworkers were kind enough to serve the dinner and our friends husband said a prayer at the dinner table. We both grew up in religious families and many of our loved ones chose not to participate in our special day. We learned family is what you make it, and the six women in our wedding party and all of our guests gave us the foundation we needed for a strong and happy marriage.

This Wedding Planner Bride Added the Most Touching DIY Details to Her Lavender Fairytale!

Ariel & Nick’s enchanting wedding at The Lodge at Malibou Lake was a lavender-hued dream. Purple was the star of the palette with varying shades incorporated into everything, from the bridal party attire and décor to the Lace Byrd ring boxes and wedding favor adornments. The bride, owner of Ariel Sarah Events, personalized their day with DIY elements, including a gorgeous mirror welcome sign and a candlelit memorial table to honor the couple’s loved ones who have passed. The venue’s fireplaces and wooden features emanated an intimacy and earthy simplicity – all captured by Danielle Bacon Photography, check it out at the full gallery

From To Be Loved Events… Ariel and Nick’s fairytale wedding, originally planned for April of 2020, took place at the beautiful Lodge at Malibou Lake in Agoura Hills, California in April of 2021. The Bride, a wedding planner and event designer, launched her own company, Ariel Sarah Events, and loved seeing the day finally come together with her hard-working vendor team that stuck with her through her 2+ years of planning and re-planning due to COVID-19. See the full gallery here, captured by Danielle Bacon Photography.

Originally meeting in high school, but getting together officially in college, Ariel and Nick had a long history before their ‘I do’s. Ariel describes their proposal story, “As I was brushing my teeth and getting ready for bed, Nick walked in with the ring, slid it down the counter to me and said, “So, are we finally doing this?” With the toothbrush hanging out of my mouth, I said, “Absolutely!” What’s funny is that when I was three years old one evening, my mom was giving me a bath and my dad came sliding into the bathroom on one knee proposing to my mom. So it seems we now have a tradition in the family of being proposed to in bathrooms.” How funny and special!

Even with the longer, sometimes more stressful, planning process, the wedding day turned out exactly as envisioned: romantic, whimsical, elegant, and fun. The wedding style sprouted from the Bride’s love for the venue. The romantic venue features such as the fireplace, wood floors, lounge spaces, the beautiful lake setting for the backdrop, along with the delicious food was exactly what they wanted. Bride Ariel says, “Our wedding was truly an expression of who we are. The day itself was filled with fun, good food, friends, love and laughter. While there was an element of earthy simplicity, it was also romantic with an heir of enchantment. Our favorite color is purple, so we made sure to incorporate that color throughout the entire wedding, from the decor to the bridal party attire, with different shades to give it depth but not have it be overwhelming.” The color palette of rich purples, eggplant and plum, mixed with lighter shades of lilac and amethyst, an abundance of greenery and hints of rose gold created the perfect ambiance, especially with the plentiful amount of ivory hurricane and tea light candles that radiated a beautiful glow throughout the celebration.

With the Bride’s specific wedding design, she included several DIY elements which came together to create so many personal and touching moments for the day. One of the most special details was a memorial table that brought the couple’s loved ones who had passed to their special day. Ariel states, “I wanted to do something simple and beautiful. I chose to highlight their photos with one floating candle. The week my grandmama passed away she gave me a Barbie wearing an antique wedding dress so I added that to the table by her picture. Seeing the memorial table with the candle shining bright onto the photos made us very emotional, and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor our loved ones.” Ariel crafted her own signage, including a gorgeous mirror welcome sign, seating chart, specialty drink bar menu, and table numbers. She also pieced together their wedding favors which were boxed vanilla scented candles adorned with a rich purple silk ribbon for each of their guests by each place setting. All of the details came together from the lush sweetheart table, all of the floating candles, and wooden laser cut place cards. Velvet Blooms adorned the celebration with her magical florals, using a combination of spring varieties to stay within season with the “show stoppers”, peonies, sweet peas, ranunculus and anemones within the color palette. To complete the night, Vanilla Bake Shop wowed us all with the unique cake display made up of five different cakes in varying sizes and designs, all imagined by the bride.

At the end of the day, their favorite part of the wedding process was seeing every detail come together and being surrounded by everyone they love. For future couples planning their wedding, Nick and Ariel offer their advice: “While planning, try to take a step back and breathe. Know that everything will come together. Try to truly enjoy every moment while you’re living in it because it goes by so fast.” Also, Ariel goes on to offer some more important advice, “I have always said that even a wedding planner needs a wedding planner for their big day. Never skip out on hiring someone; it’s an investment that is just as important as all of the details. You are protecting what you have already spent so much time, energy and money on. You want someone who will be there for you, coordinating the set up, making sure all of the vendors are on the same page and ensuring that the day goes smoothly. The last thing that you want to deal with on your day is stress. Trust me, hire someone so you can sit back and enjoy every moment. I am so grateful that I hired Samantha with To Be Loved Events to do the coordination. She was able to help navigate all of the changes due to the COVID restrictions and she went above and beyond ensuring everyone was on the same page and making sure that every detail I envisioned came together. As a planner, we know all of the hard work that goes into putting on a wedding and I was so lucky to have worked with Samantha.

Intimate Backyard Chic Celebration In The Heart Of Nashville

With a vision to create an intimate celebration with family and friends, John and Susan’s wedding turned out to be what elegant backyard wedding dreams are made of. Held on a private property in the heart of Nashville, Taryn Stark Wyant Event Planning and Design created a chic day that made guests feel at home. From fireplaces filled with greenery and flickering candlelight to a reception table covered in romantic blooms, the floral designs by The Florista are heartwarming. The love and happiness of the day was artfully captured by SASs Photography. Make sure to watch the entire day unfold in the full gallery.

FromTaryn Stark Wyant Event Planning and DesignJohn and Susan met on eHarmony! Each of them came from different life experiences and felt as though they were wasting their time with the online dating ap, but thought it was worth a shot. Sue saw John’s bare-bones profile, but felt like the few things he had to say were in line with her views and decided to send him a smile. He responded with an invitation to get coffee. “Neither of us ever looked back,” Sue exclaims!

In describing her vision for the wedding day, Sue expresses, “We wanted to keep the ceremony simple and elegant. The most important part of our vision was to be surrounded by family and friends in a beautiful setting. We want it to feel like a relaxed celebration. We didn’t see this as the start of something, just a celebration to be able to share our happiness with our families and friends. We want them to feel like they were a part of an intimate celebration.”

Taryn Stark Wyant Event Planning and Design designed the day with ideals of romantic intimacy and comfortable celebration at the forefront. Hues of deep burgundy were offset with pale mauve. Brick fireplaces were filled with flickering pillar candles surrounded with swaying greenery, and family and friends converged easily to celebrate Sue and John’s commitment.

The Meaning Behind the Flower Girl and Ring Bearer Tradition: We’re Actually Okay With Them Just Stealing the Show, Though

Back for our last round of two truths and a lie, friends!! You ready? Because today we’re zeroing in on the cutest part of the ‘I do’ crew: flower girls and ring bearers. If you’re just catching up on our “meaning behind” series, we’ve been digging into the origins of some of our favorite wedding traditions and uncovering truths behind them. So, today we’ll outline three details about how flower girls and ring bearers came about, once upon a time ago, and you’ll make some guesses on which two are true and which one is false. No pressure, have fun – these flower and ring-toting tinies are, after all!

🌹💍 Flower girls dress like the bride, because processing right ahead of the bride symbolizes the soonlywed’s transformation from child to adult on their wedding day
🌹💍 Ring bearers carry rings on a pillow to portray the hopes and dreams of the couple becoming reality
🌹💍 Having flower girls and ring bearers in your ceremony hints about your family to come – the amount of children in your wedding party presupposes the number of children you’d like to have in the future

Like we shared last time, there are tons of wedding traditions that we practice today moreso for the fun and “YOLO-level” festivity that they offer rather than the obligations and pressure they represent. Flower girls and ring bearers are the best example of this, because while these adorable little ones can add so much personality and comic relief to a wedding celebration, they don’t need to be a part of it, if you don’t want them to! If you’d like to have them for the ceremony and photos, but would prefer an adults-only reception, you can do that too, without judgment. Just wanted to clear that up, in the event you’ve been on the fence about whether or not you should invite kids to the wedding.

The Truths

Truth #1

Today, flower girls can wear whatever you (as the couple getting married) would like them to wear on your wedding day – be it a darling dress that takes style cues from the bride herself or a tulle take with bow or ribbon accents that match the bridesmaids’ palette. But in the beginning, during Elizabethan times, flower girls would walk down the aisle before the bride, dressed in white, as a sort of flashback to the bride’s youth and innocence. The flower girl was essentially meant to emblematize the bride transforming from a child into an adult.

Truth #2

To be honest, the backstory of ring bearers and their roles in the wedding isn’t very clear; but according to Egyptian folklore, ring bearers were expected to deliver the rings (which were affixed to the top of a pillow) to the end of the aisle, and then successfully pass them along to the Best Man. The point of the pillow was to represent the culmination and realization of all of the couple’s hopes and dreams in marriage. Sweet, right? We’re happy to keep this one up, because little gentlemen wearing bowties and carrying fluffy pillows down the aisle just make our hearts happy.

The Lie

What we’re not really into honoring these days is the old-school idea that flower girls and ring bearers are there simply as pawns for the couple’s procreation and fertility fortune. So, if you thought the third sentiment sounded a little sketchy, don’t worry, we see you and we feel the same way!! Historically, flocks of flower girls were favored by Greeks and Romans as a means of bringing good luck and bounty into the newlyweds’ chambers. The girls would precede the bride, showering her path with herbs and grains, which, of course, symbolized fruitfulness and the promise of many future children. While there was never any tradition that followed “if you have X children in the wedding, you’ll have X children in life,” there was still a very pronounced reason for littles to be included in the special day – and it had everything to do with babies-to-be.

We repeat, there is no correlation between your choosing to have tiny attendants in your wedding and the amount, if any, children you choose to have thereafter. If you want kids someday, but not for your wedding, you got it. If you’re game for flower girls and ring bearers at your wedding, but still contemplating whether or not starting a family is in your grand plan, totally fine!! Or if you’re gearing up for a squad on your wedding day and eventually one of your own, then by all means, do it!

A short list of things to consider for your prospective pint-sized sisters and mini misters:

  • Flower girls and ring bearers are usually under the age of 10 – and they don’t have to be related to you! Nieces, nephews, stepchildren, godchildren, younger siblings, baby cousins, or your best friends’ firecracker cuddlers are all fair game.
  • There’s no limit to how many you can have, and they’re not mutually exclusive – you can have one without the other, neither, or both!
  • Just as you’d ask bridesmaids and groomsmen to be in your wedding, you can absolutely (we encourage it, really) make the ask notable and worthwhile for these sweethearts. Anything that involves the words ‘petal patrol’ or ‘ring security’ is perfect for a proposal… these brand-new flower girl and ring bearer prep books by planning pro, Mindy Weiss, are ADORABLE. Not only do they offer a great way to teach little ones about the duties and importance of their jobs ahead of the wedding day, all of the pretty pictures inside can get them pumped to be a part of your day (even if the promise of wedding cake is what gets their attention first!).
Photos by Dennis Kwan

Of course, on the day-of, you can also get your smallest brigade some very special gifts as a ‘thank you’ for their collective hard work (tossing petals and keeping tabs on those rings – by the way, they’re usually decoys anyway – is tough work!).

Take a peek at our Style Me Pretty Shop and our accessories section, in particular. From baskets and pillows to tiny bells and tissues (to ring and signal all those first kisses of yours and/or to hand out and ensure the criers in the back can blot those tears), these items are sure to make all of your tinies thrilled with their titles!

Magical Mountain Views Bring The Romance In This Paradise Valley Wedding

Framed by extraordinary mountain views, this Arizona wedding has officially stolen our hearts. After our couple had to change their original wedding plans due to the pandemic, they were afraid that a more intimate affair wouldn’t be as special. After what the bride and groom are now calling the “best day ever” they are convinced that they couldn’t have been more wrong. Outstanding Occasions created the dreamiest of days filled with elegance and romance set in the great outdoors. Flowers by LUX Florist make the setting even more sensational. Rachel Solomon Photography artfully captured the love of the day in her beautiful imagery. Make sure to visit the full gallery so you don’t miss a single moment.

From the bride… Steve and I had met back in 2014 through mutual friends, and our whole relationship has been very family and friend-focused. We knew when the time came to plan our wedding, we wanted our big day to have the same feeling of celebrating our love with our closest friends and family.

El Chorro was the perfect venue for our wedding – it is the most beautiful location that combines our love of the Arizona desert with a romantic feeling the moment you walk in. The beautiful views of Camelback Mountain combined with our garden theme were exactly what I wanted.

Dinner on the lawn under the bistro lights and stars was a dream. The smaller guest count, due to the pandemic, ended up being wonderful. We were truly surrounded by our closest friends and family, aside from a few who were unable to travel given the circumstances. We danced the night away with our best friends

Enchanting Editorial At the Exclusive Cal-a-Vie Health Spa

This is the kind of striking beauty that makes me wish I could go back in time and choose this very venue for my own wedding day. Sun-drenched hillsides, Provencal architecture, and a 400-year-old chapel from Dijon, France are just a few things you can expect to see at Cal-a-Vie Health Spa. Brooke Keegan Special Events put together a styled shoot that celebrates the elegance of the venue, while Kaleb Norman James Design blew us away with his romantic floral arrangements (ummm, can we talk about that ceremony?!)

From Jacqui Cole… This inspiration shoot was the product of the first KCK Collective Experience – a luxury portfolio building workshop for photographers designed to enhance their portfolio and expand their knowledge of the luxury wedding market. The workshop and artistic direction behind this editorial is led by Brooke Keegan Special Events, Kaleb Norman James and photographer, Jacqui Cole.

Inspiration for the shoot was drawn from the elegance of the venue – Cal-a-Vie Health Spa which is quietly nestled in the hills of Vista, CA. The venue is extremely unique and the grounds are reminiscent of French gardens. We knew that it would be the perfect location for our feminine and romantic shoot.

The 400 year old French chapel imported from Dijon France offered an incredible location to hold the Ceremony. With oversized oak doors, rows of pews and the intimate setting inside, Kaleb created florals that lined the aisle, filled the altar table and adorned the taper candle chandeliers. With no electricity in the Chapel, pillar candles were used to create romance and warmth in the space.

The florals played off of the natural stone surroundings and green hills of Vista, CA. The elegant tablescape included warm whites, creams, peach and soft green tones. The place cards were uniquely placed inside glass cloches with a touch of hellebores. The Ark Rentals provided the curated china, flatware and glassware to create a refined yet whimsical vision.

Beach Bridal Beauty created a soft, subtle look with hair and makeup for our lovely bride who wore a romantic off-the-shoulder Berta gown from Lovella Bridal.

The paper goods from Samantha Meyer Studio were beyond our expectations! The invitations were wrapped in custom monogrammed muslin handkerchiefs and tied with silk ribbon. The ‘escort cards’ took on a unique twist with muslin wrapped hand poured custom candles that were elegantly tied with each of the guests’ names.

The couple enjoyed a champagne toast next to the tiered cake by Grace & Honey. The cake itself was beautiful and elegant and surrounded in florals on top of an antique stone table.

Le Reve Films captured the story of the couple through video and truly showcased the romance and beauty of the entire day.

Natalie and Richard’s French countryside-inspired nuptials are the epitome of a romantic-meets-modern affair. Blush, dusty rose, and raspberry red floral designs by Flower 597 accentuated the couple’s blue-forward palette. Sophisticated gold accents, glass-encased taper candles, and warm twinkling lights infused intentional elegance into the country brick reception venue. From Rainbow Chan Weddings… There is nothing sweeter than an outdoor wedding, full of sunshine, vibrant florals, and fresh wedding day designs. Natalie and Richard’s wedding offered the perfect mixture of romantic elegance and a French countryside theme. This event took place on August 24th 2019, and it was truly a day to remember – full of beauty, love, and celebration. Let’s take a closer look at Natalie and Richard’s beautiful outdoor wedding. As Toronto wedding planners, our team here at Rainbow Chan Weddings loves to partner with you to plan your special day. From every dream, desire, and detail, we work hard to create long lasting memories for every couple. It was a joy for our team of wedding planners to work with Natalie and Richard, as their style and vision was truly one of our favorites. Our bride Natalie began her day at 8am, surrounded by her bridesmaids, in a local Toronto Airbnb. With laughter and excitement filling the air, and a morning coffee in hand, they proceeded with hair and makeup. Once ready, Natalie and Richard shared an intimate moment with their first look, and a bridal party photo session soon commenced. Our lovely bride and groom met back in 2011, meeting each other through a summer accounting program at York University.

A few years later in 2017, Richard surprised his future bride by popping the question, and asking Natalie to marry him. There began a beautiful journey together. Their wedding ceremony took place at the Spadina Museum at 4:30pm. With their chosen theme of French countryside, mixed with a modern and clean design, this was an idyllic venue for such an occasion. They had cold lemonade and mint cucumber water as the perfect refreshments for a warm summer day. The Wellington Music group played throughout the ceremony and created the perfect romantic atmosphere as Natalie walked down the aisle to her soon-to-be husband. Their wedding colors were ivory, French blue, blush, and accents of dusty rose and raspberry reds. Natalie and Richard exchanged their vows under a tall, billowing oak tree, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

They gathered around the museum for family photos, having the perfect backdrop for a warm countryside feel – a grand ivory white building with sage green shutters, surrounded by flowers. The bridesmaids wore long, flowing dresses, in a soft French blue color. Natalie’s wedding gown was magnificent, as it flowed with tulle and accompanied a long and elegant veil. Their bouquets were full of soft greens, fresh whites, and highlighted were the bright raspberry red roses. From head to toe, Natalie was the epitome of beauty and grace on her special day. The cocktail hour and dinner reception were held at the Steamwhistle Brewery in downtown Toronto. Our team of Toronto wedding planners enjoyed every element of this wedding as the style and design came together beautifully in every detail. From the tall glass candleholders, to their creative seating chart, soft wooden chairs, country brick walls, and warm twinkling lights strung along the ceiling – every detail was planned and thought out with intention and purpose. As the night was filled with laughter, good food, and dancing, the atmosphere was full of love and celebration. Natalie and Richard’s wedding was sure to have left a lasting impression to all who attended, as it certainly did for our team here at Rainbow Chan Weddings. It truly was a joy to work with this couple, and we wish you both a lifetime of love, adventure, and happiness together.

How did you and Richard meet?

From the Bride, Natalie…Richard and I met in the summer of 2011 when we were both studying for our accounting designations. We had mutual friends so naturally our paths crossed and we got to know each other as we would chat during study sessions and stay late until the library would close…. We started officially dating shortly after our exams and the rest is history!

What is your proposal story?

Richard proposed after 6 years of dating at our house. He had been traveling for work recently and I wasn’t expecting him to be home at that time so I was very surprised to see him and even more surprised when he got down on a knee! We celebrated the rest of the weekend with a trip out of the city!

What was your inspiration for your wedding theme?

My wedding planning process happened over 2 years so I felt like my original theme and aesthetic definitely evolved. I started off wanting something very romantic/organic inspired by the beautiful weddings that take place in the European countryside or a lush California vineyard. At the same time I also love the simplicity of a modern wedding so I tried to merge some aspects of that into the theme with my choices in stationery and some of the decor.

How did you find your venue and vendors?

Working in the wedding industry I had a good idea of which vendors I wanted to work with based on social media and/or first hand experience working with them before on other couple’s weddings or styled shoots!

What was your favourite part of the wedding?

Overall, I loved that we didn’t try to cram too much into the day so I felt like the pace was quite relaxed. Some of the big highlights for me was the slow morning getting ready with my bridesmaids that also included a boudoir session with my photographer and exchanging our written vows to each other during the ceremony. I also just loved seeing all the details that I had been planning come together on the day of so moments like walking into the reception hall or seeing the ceremony set up felt surreal to me!

What advice would you have for other brides planning their wedding day?

My advice to other brides would be firstly – do your research and find vendors who you really connect with and understand what your vision is for your big day. At the end it will be your vendors that help you execute everything so you really need to have complete trust in them and also give them space to work their magic! Secondly, try your best to stay organized. There are a lot of aspects to think about for the big day so definitely consider hiring a wedding planner or a day of coordinator. One thing that really helped me is to keep a running list of all random thoughts/questions that would pop into my mind organized by the vendor so I had a list of questions to refer back to when it came time to sorting things out. Lastly, as everyone always says – definitely remember to take moments to step back and really soak in and enjoy your big day!

A Romantic Spring Shower Helps Highlight The Beauty Of The Season

Proof that rain doesn’t have to ruin the day, we’re swooning over this April Showers-inspired editorial. Highlighting a beautifully authentic and romantic spring shower, this styled shoot represents the best that spring has to offer no matter the circumstances. Rachael Ellen Events created a day that told the story of the season through color with touches of sunny yellow for warmer days, pops of deep purple for the days that pull us back into winter, and the bright promise of May flowers with touches of whites and pinks. Featuring all of spring’s most beautiful blooms, NYC meets spring garden in the most beautiful of ways. Gracie Byrd Jones artfully captured the romance of the day in her imagery. Visit the full gallery to get inspired.

From Rachael Ellen EventsOur April Showers editorial was inspired by the changing of seasons and the nebulous weather that comes with it. After the past year, we are no stranger to a “plan B” when it comes to weddings and I wanted to highlight the beauty of just that!

We styled the ceremony under the 620 Loft & Garden clear tent – arguably the most beautiful rain plan in NYC. It felt like we were under one big bubble umbrella. Organic pedestal arrangements featuring spring Fritillaria, tulips, and Forsentia flanked each side of the couple. The drops of dew added just that much more romance to the organic design.

The tablescape was created to feel like May flowers were starting to peak out of the garden, or table in this case, surrounded by dozens of pastel-colored taper candles. We balanced a mod lilac linen with classic gold and white china, flatware, and crystal glassware. It was the perfect spring soiree for 16 of their lucky “guests.”

Bright Colors And Hints Of Citrus Are Fulfilling Our Pink Lemonade Dreams

A fresh take on timeless, this styled shoot was a dream of blissful hues and citrus details. Using bright pops of color, citrus pieces, and jaw-dropping florals, The Sweet Oak Events team created their own citrus garden without ever leaving home. Breathtaking flower arrangements by Color Fields Farm in colorful hues will have you feeling bright and sunny. You can feel the magic of the day in the incredible imagery captured by videographer, Little Eye Film Co and photographer Annie Timmons Photography. Take a sweet sip of pink lemonade in the full gallery.

From Sweet Oak EventsOur inspiration bloomed from a citrus garden in Austria that boasted beautiful lemon tree orchards and curtains of florals. Since travel isn’t an option these days, we opted to bring the garden home to Hillsborough and provide a new vision for a white barn wedding.

The couple was framed by a breathtaking ground ceremony floral installation orchestrated by Color Fields Farm. Inside the venue, details of our vision, “Pink Lemonade”, were pieced together with elements of a flower curtain cascading behind the sweetheart table created by Color Fields Farm, a colorful green and pink seating chart, and a custom stationery suite designed by Art by Ashley Triggiano, and themed specialty bar cocktails featuring Pink Lemonade Sangria and Blood Orange Margaritas concocted by Brewmasters.

We hope to inspire couples after a year of doom and gloom with how to create a bright, colorful, and fun wedding that loses none of its sophistication or class. Our goal was to inspire a sophisticated appreciation for lemonade after a year of life handing us lemons… but, of course, make it pink!

This Peach Inspired Editorial Turned Into A Real-Life Proposal!

Come for the perfectly playful peach theme and stay for the real-life proposal! This editorial shoot highlighting the romance of summer doubled as the perfect place for our two models in the shoot to get engaged. Alicia C Creative planned a day filled with exquisite touches and pretty pops of color. Organic, free-flowing arrangements by Mid Summer Mother beautifully bring the day to life. From the elegant setting to the moment our groom pops the question, you can feel the joy, love, and emotion in the imagery by Moose Studio. Don’t miss a single moment in the full gallery.

From Moose StudioWhat started out as a peachy inspiration editorial, turned into a beautiful surprise proposal on the rooftop of South Park Center. This peachy sunkissed inspiration shoot in Los Angeles was all about the sweet romance of summer with statement-making florals, a handmade couture gown and custom cocktails.

Just days before, the groom model reached out to us and asked if he could propose to the love of his life during the shoot. We of course said yes! And so did she!

This editorial couldn’t have been sweeter when he got down on one knee 32 stories above the streets below. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight. The bride model Jennifer said, “the exact moment before he proposed felt like we were existing in pure bliss, almost as if time stopped for us.”

The Beauty of the Camellia Flower Inspired This Ultra-Feminine Shoot With Secret Garden Allure

We’re savoring these last sweet weeks of spring with this floral-inspired shoot that is equal parts soft and feminine. Blue Rose Photography took inspiration from the ever-romantic camellia flower and transformed Christianson’s Nursery into a charming venue with a secret garden allure. Filled with mauve-hued blooms, the property is a gorgeous backdrop for an outdoor celebration and an enchanting fairytale gown – like the featured design by Liz Martinez Bridal. For a more intimate dinner, Elle and James Co.’s earthy yet feminine tablescape –  inside the historic onsite schoolhouse – exudes a soft, romantic ambiance. Wander through the full gallery to experience beauty in full-bloom.

From Blue Rose Pictures Spring is always a time when I am filled with inspiration. Its the season of new beginnings, the season to come out of hiding and be creative ! Of all the beautiful flowers spring brings, Camellias are one of my all time favorites.

I wanted to create an ultra feminine floral inspired wedding shoot up at one of the best little hidden gems of a venue ( Christiansons Nursery in Mount Vernon WA) They have the most gorgeous landscaped property with greenhouses, plants, camellias galore, and the cutest historic school house. You can have your ceremony in the schoolhouse followed by a reception in the garden. Or, like we did for this shoot, you could create a more intimate dinner in the schoolhouse for a smaller wedding.

Alyssa from Elle and James Co created an earthy yet feminine and soft dinner table. With different colored taper candles and pearl flatware. We used a lot of mauves and pinks throughout the styling to fill the images with a soft romantic feeling. The dress was really the star of the show here. It is a Liz Martinez gown from one of my favorite bridal shops in the Seattle area, Idina Bride. It has just the right amount of sheer to create a sexy allure but then it has the off the shoulder poof sleeves that add romance and fairytale.

The Meaning Behind the Bridesmaids Tradition: The Bridal Entourage Has Been Around for Over a Century

We had a lot of fun last week playing two truths and a lie, so we thought we’d continue this tradition for a few more weeks. Does that sound okay? Great!! Since it was National Best Friend Day this past Tuesday (June 8th), we figured the timing was perfect to talk all things bridesmaids this time around. Remember, we’ll be outlining three details about the origins of the bridesmaid tradition, and you’ll need to determine which two are truths and which one is a lie. Keep in mind that a lot of modern-day wedding rituals do have pretty weird beginnings… Just sayin!

👯‍♀️ Bridesmaids have carried floral bouquets since the birth of the tradition
👯‍♀️ A bride used to need 10 bridesmaids to witness her marriage in order for it to be legally binding
👯‍♀️ Bridesmaids dressed alike – and like the bride – to confuse evil spirits and rival suitors and make it altogether impossible to bring misfortune to the bride on her day

Photo by Chymo & More Photography

Bridesmaids are such a special part of the wedding, to us, but at the end of the day, as long as a bride has her favorite people present (and paying attention) on the day she says ‘I do,’ that’s all that matters. We needed to say that first, because these days, bridesmaids and bridal parties don’t have to stick to any rules. The couple gets to decide who of their closest friends, family members, colleagues, etc. will be intimately involved in their wedding, how and when they’re asked, what they’ll wear, and what they’ll be responsible for on the big day and all that comes before.

The Truths

Truth #1

During ancient Roman times, yes, 10 witnesses were required to make the marriage officially sanctioned. Of course, that number is pretty arbitrary nowadays; brides can have as many or as little maids as they’d like – witnesses (plural) are still customary for marriage in every state, but if a bride opts not to have bridesmaids or a even a single Maid/Matron of Honor, that’s totally okay! Witnesses can be parents, siblings, friends: whoever is entrusted with the privilege of watching the couple sign their marriage certificate (and potentially even when the couple applies for their marriage license) just needs to show up and be supportive of the seriously-special occasion.

Truth #2

Superstitions have been part of wedding history for centuries, after all, what bride (and groom for that matter!) doesn’t want to keep all the [good] luck on her side on her best day ever? But going back to that ‘truth…’ Yes, the tradition of bridesmaids all wearing ensembles that matched – and looked like the bride – came about to essentially bemuse the spirits and ill-intentioned celestial entities hovering around the ceremony and celebration. Rival suitors, those who may have been turned away from the bride at some point, were a problem, too. So, if they showed up, and had close to a dozen beautiful distractions in their midst, they’d be thrown off the [bride’s] scent. Long story short, bridesmaids have been showing up for their bestie brides for ages!

The Lie

If you said ‘bridesmaids have carried floral bouquets since the birth of the tradition’ was the lie, then you’d be 100p on track. During the Victorian Era, bridesmaids actually carried herbs, garlic, and grains in their bouquets as a means of warding off those evil spirits… A bride needed to make it to the altar unscathed by any bad juju, so if her girls needed to take one for the team with a bouquet that was more function than fun, then it was what it was.

Thankfully, these days, bridesmaids aren’t beholden to lackluster looks for their flowers, their fashion, and more. Brides and their squads have sooo much choice, and it’s a wonderful thing!! Whether you’ll be getting married with just a few by your side or subscribing to “the more, the merrier” mantra, you’ll want to make sure the whole experience has moments of greatness straight on through your ‘I dos.’ Peep our Style Me Pretty Shop and the section we’ve reserved just for you and your crew. From festive cups and glasses to makeup bags and sleep masks, these gifts are sure to say “I don’t just want you at my wedding, I need you at my wedding.” Hits a little different than it did back then, but it’s a welcome change, for sure.

A Modern Day Fairytale Featuring Two Princess Brides

With an abundance of glitz and glamour, this modern-day fairytale wedding is all the inspiration you’ll need. From a spiraling staircase blooming with florals in a crisp color palette of blue, orange, and yellow to two princess brides draped in luxury, every last detail is done to the nines. Radleigh + Sage Event Company planned, styled, and designed the day that pays homage to the LGBTQ community, and Bloom Theory brought the concept to life with show-stopping flowers. The exquisite imagery captured by Madeleine Collins Photography is sure to leave you speechless. Watch the whole special day unfold in the full gallery.

From Radleigh + Sage Event CompanyThis bridal editorial styled shoot is affectionately called “The Princess BRIDES” paying homage to the LGBTQ communities as we head into PRIDE season. It is their rendition of a “royal wedding” featuring two brides reflecting a modern-day fairytale.

Details include a beautiful tulle bridal gown by Millia London imported from the UK, and a stunning pantsuit bridal ensemble with a long cape by LA Designer, Amanda James, giving the look a dramatic and regal touch. And what’s a royal wedding without a crown? The two brides were adorned with custom-designed tiaras by bridal accessory designer, Julie Harris, and gorgeous lace detailing.

Kimberly Crest, a picturesque French chateau-style home built in 1897, is a well-preserved example of the Victorian Era in California. The home was designed by the firm Dennis and Farwell and inspired by a French castle that the original owner, Mrs. Cornelia Hill visited on a trip to Europe. At 7,000 square feet, the building qualifies as a petite chateau. A setting so perfect and breathtaking that you are almost instantly transported to another place and time!

This Indoor Ceremony Looks Like It Was Held In An Outdoor Garden

Elegant hues of purple, blush, and yellow, with hints of coral, set the scene for this spring-inspired editorial. Held at The Ivy Rose Barn, a 70 acre working floral and honey farm, each and every well-thought-out details celebrates the simplicity of the season. Florals By Kimberly filled the day with the dreamiest of blooms, from an indoor ceremony that looks as if it’s set in an outdoor garden to a reception table covered with pops of color. Nicole Colwell Photography artfully captured the beauty and elegance of the day. Visit the full gallery to get inspired.

From Nicole Colwell PhotographySpring adds new life and is simply full of beauty, which was our inspiration behind this editorial at the newly constructed venue, The Ivy Rose Barn. This editorial was the first to showcase the completed space.

Early spring in Virginia can be still dreary so we wanted to show that even though the trees may still be bare you can bring your early spring wedding to life with the right colors and florals.

We chose a colorful palette that included purple hues, blushes, yellows, and even hints of coral that were the perfect spring touch that popped in the all-white space.

California Reverie: An Ethereal Elopement Along the Pacific Coastline in Carmel-by-the-Sea

“Old world meets new, this styled elopement shoot was inspired by the dreamy California coastline. To capture these divine moments, film was the only acceptable medium”, says planner extraordinaire Sampaguita Lane – and we couldn’t agree more! Originally built in 1905, La Playa Carmel brought an old world feel to the overall aesthetic, juxtaposed against the bride’s modern Jenny Yoo gown. To see all the magic unfold, head to the full gallery captured on film by Monica Lam Photography and Ditto Dianto!

From Sampaguita Lane Old world meets new, this styled elopement shoot was inspired by the dreamy California coastline. To capture these divine moments, film was the only acceptable medium. With its need for attentiveness and care, film created a feeling of intention with each image, full of nostalgia to last eternally. Nestled in the beachside town of Carmel-By-The-Sea, La Playa Carmel set an ideal backdrop for an elopement.

Originally built in 1905, the Spanish-colonial architecture and modern touches brought an err of timelessness and splendor. The mansion was a gift from an artist to his beloved wife, as an ode to their love and lives together. Their attire conveyed a sense of grace and opulence. A Jenny Yoo’s Wesly gown, with clean lines and sheer chiffon panels, trailed behind her. A black velvet tuxedo jacket and loafers for a classic look, much like their romance.

Delicate, hand-painted brass earrings with Swarovski stones, subtle mauve hairpins, and a vining boutonniere with black crystals completed their effortless and ageless style. The warm brick of the courtyard was paired with soft pastels. Seasonal lilacs, dogwood, and popcorn roses adorned the stone fountain altar. Branches of pink mimosas and dogwood lined the aisle. Her bouquet was set with white, Japanese Pieris, peach ranunculus, and cream garden roses. There was an organic nature to the design, integrating seamlessly with the venue gardens. Her bedroom eyes, his adoring gaze, their love and devotion shown above all. As the sun went down, they cemented the new life amongst the sand and waves. The ocean has a cleansing effect, washing away the lives they lived before, individually and solitary. Golden hour basked them in hazy sunlight, bringing them together as one.
