Vintage Glam North Carolina Farm Wedding

While without a doubt this whole affair, planned and designed by Leigh Pearce Weddings, is guaranteed to grab your attention and not let go, there is one sight that stood out in particular; the stunningly serene ceremony with the gorgeous North Carolina fall colors in the background. Whitebox Photo captured this magic and while I’m not wishing away summer before it’s even here, good golly, this is gorgeous.

From Leigh Pearce Weddings… Lauren and Brad tied the knot on a crisp fall day at Adaumont Farm in the heart of North Carolina. With a color palette of deep emerald, peach, ivory, and gold, their wedding was the perfect combination of glamour, vintage, and a touch of rustic.

Lauren’s father is an avid antique collector and their family was able to procure all of the beautiful milk glass, mirrors, and the perfect art deco-esque chandelier for the ceremony – just to name a few! The collected chandelier was the perfect touch to the ceremony which took place underneath Adaumont Farm’s iconic pergola. We draped it with flowing white fabric and swagged greenery and blooms against a picture perfect sunset.

After the heartwarming ceremony, guests moseyed up to the veranda for prosecco and blood orange cocktails while the bridal party and family finished up their photos. Some of my favorite details of the day were from the bridal party! The bridesmaids wore vintage furs and the flower girls (who were appropriately renamed glitter girls) carried kiss lock purses made by Lauren’s mom.

Once guests moved inside of the main barn, they were greeted by three dramatic dinner tables running the length of the room. The tables were topped with the most beautiful blooms and greenery, assorted milk glass, and mirrored table numbers and place cards. Textured ivory and metallic linens along with gold French inspired chairs tied the entire look together. Lauren, Brad, their families, and guests continued the celebration with a decadent meal and a night of dancing,

It was such a pleasure to plan and design such an breathtaking event. Planning with Lauren and Brad along with Lauren’s mother, sister, and father was such an amazing experience. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs.!!!

Blue + Metallic Wedding Inspiration Shoot

When you gather together Live View StudiosMichelle Wright EventsFive Dot DesignAmy Lynne OriginalsLea Ann Belter Bridal and an ENTIRE team of talented vendors, gorgeous things are bound to follow. Inspired by Ed Sheeran’s wildly romantic song, “Thinking Out Loud” they dreamt up a shoot with calligraphy backdrops, metallic accents, floral cascades- you name it. We couldn’t possibly cover each moment of pretty, so please, please carve out time for the full gallery right here.

From Live View StudiosWe were inspired by romantic nights, with stars twinkling above as lovers wrap themselves in each others arms. They look up at the inky deep blue sky, with a million stars glowing like candles. As the night gets late and cooler, there is the promise of a rosy hued dawn soon to appear. Gazing into each others eyes, and reminded of a favorite song, she whispers “kiss me under the light of a thousand stars”.

From this setting, event designer Michelle Wright drew a color palette of mixed blues, grey, and twinkling candles set in an array of metallic elements to bring to life this elegant wedding inspiration. The varied blue colors, from the bridesmaids Jenny Yoo dress combined with a stunning blue pear shaped necklace, to the sprawling table centerpiece with assorted blue candles, and the ring box from France with dark blue velvet underneath a dazzling light blue stone – all contributed different shades of blue. Everything was set against a primarily white background for a glamorous and elegant effect. Sparkling white pears on the table added dimension to the glittering tablescape. The cake incorporated the lyrics from the Ed Sheeran song (Thinking Out Loud), with metallic accents and hand lettering, draped with a beautiful floral cascade. The Camille dress from Lea Ann Belter added both elegance and organic beauty with it’s beautiful french alencon lace details, and sweeping silk organza overskirt. The simple and elegant letterpress stationary with it’s silver lined envelope echoed the aesthetic of the overall inspiration. Inspired by the romance of the song lyrics, the ceremony backdrop is their elegantly lettered wedding vows.

Elegant Emerald + Gold Military Wedding

On this day when we stop and salute the fearless men and women who sacrifice for our freedom, sharing THE most gorgeous military affair we could get our hands only felt fitting. Think classic Southern elegance with groomsmen in uniform all in a row, plus a four-tier stunner from the talents at Sugarland to top off the night. Leave it to Graham Terhune for a photo gallery you’ll likely never want to leave.

From Graham Terhune… Surrounded by lush, southern countryside, Hope and Zach’s storybook wedding was punctuated by the sound of geese skimming across a sun-struck pond. The Oaks at Salem in Apex provided the ideal, picturesque backdrop for this elegant bride and her uniformed groom as they exchanged their vows under a Carolina blue sky.

A romantic palette of blush, champagne, ivory and gold carried the vintage glamour theme from the bouquets and décor at the ceremony to the lovely centerpiece ensembles at the reception. The perfect contrasts to the soft floral hues were the deep forest green bridesmaids’ dresses and the dapper military dress uniforms of the groomsmen and ushers. Next to the bride’s stunning Maggie Sottero gown, the ultimate crowd-pleaser was the flower girl dresses which were encrusted in Swarovski crystals and blush ostrich feathers.

The one hundred and fifty guests enjoyed a buffet dinner followed by a decadent chocolate stout wedding cake dessert. The laughter and champagne flowed into the night as guests danced and celebrated the new Mr. and Mrs. The couple was chauffeured from the venue in a white Excalibur while guests waved sparklers for a truly radiant ending to their charmingly beautiful wedding day.

A Coastal North Carolina Engagement Session at Fort Fisher

Note to self: When looking for the perfect e-sesh outfit, look no further than this AH-mazing white Sabo Skirt and top! This simple engagement session shot by Melissa DeLorme Photography is absolutely timeless, which is exactly what the bride-to-be wanted. You can see more romantic moments here!

From Melissa DeLorme PhotographyChristine and Matt’s coastal North Carolina engagement session was a dream to photograph. We traveled down to Fort Fisher, to the exact spot where Matt proposed to Christine, to soak up every ounce of light. From her two piece dress to the romantic spread on the beach, I instantly fell in love with these two beautiful people. The way Christine fit perfectly into Matt’s arms and the way they were completely comfortable with each other in front of the camera made me squeal with excitement as we captured some of my favorite engagement photos to date.

From The Bride…We wanted our engagement photos to be timeless, in a location that will always have a special place in our hearts. Fort Fisher is not only beautiful, but holds countless memories for us…a walk on the rocks during our first date and the spot where Matt proposed just two years later. We couldn’t be happier with the result; the lighting was perfect, the photos are so romantic and Melissa truly captured our love for each other. After the session, we drove straight home, got in our pajamas and ordered a large pizza!

From the beautiful Bride… When you decide to plan a wedding you need to make a “must-haves” or “have-nots” list before you can tackle all the details. My husband and I knew we wanted to get married in the mountains with a view, have an intimate ceremony that reflected our relationship, and have a party in a space that allowed guests to mingle (or dance!) without any pressure. We knew we didn’t want a “package” wedding which meant a little extra research and planning on our end to hand-pick our vendors so we could create the wedding we wanted.

We fell in love with Sawyer Family Farmstead in the quaint town of Glenville, NC for the sweeping landscapes, family feel, and flexibility to make the day our own – but it didn’t hurt that our rescue dog’s name is Sawyer. This was the ceremony and reception site and if meeting the owners isn’t enough to charm you, the farm has so many great spaces for guests to explore — southern rocking chairs on a large porch, fire pit complete with s’mores and of course an open air dance floor. The farm has so many unique pieces of decor that add to the family feel.

Including family in the details of our wedding was very important to us. My father died when I was a teenager so I needed to make him a presence without taking away from the celebration of the day. He was 100% Irish and that heritage is important to me so we honored his memory by including a Celtic Handfasting Ceremony while the sweet duo from the Moon & You played “Black Velvet Band.” I also wore a gorgeous emerald ring my dad gave my mom the day I was born.

My sister-in-law, Kelly Kinnaird of Deliver Paper Studio used our vision to design and create a customized wedding suite. My mother added to the family affair by hand calligraphing each envelope. Having a mother-in-law with a background as a featured makeup artist with high-end products made for a memorable bridal look. And finally my sister Shanna, who is a phenomenal baker, whipped up a single layer buttercream cake for our first bite as husband and wife.

We customized our ceremony by choosing readings meaningful to us and writing our own vows. It was such a sweet moment to share our ceremony with our guests and let them experience a little of our relationship. Our officiant was instrumental in guiding our process and of course proofreading our vows.

Our design goals were to create a welcoming, organic yet elegant space. We don’t like things too perfect so we gave our wedding party a few guidelines on color/style and then let them choose their own attire. The ladies at Floressence did a great job creating a soft and inviting space for our reception.

One of the things no one truly prepared me for was how much of my wedding I wouldn’t be present for which is why I’m so glad to have so many wonderful images from our talented photographers.

Stylish Asheville Wedding with Custom Peach Wedding Gown

If it’s your big day, why not write your own rules? This Bride bucked tradition by wearing a custom peach creation from Project Runway’s Carol Hannah while her bridesmaids donned white dresses! Plus, guests participated in a unique candle exchange during the ceremony. Beautifully captured by Perry Vaile, it’s unlike any other wedding we’ve seen, and you can see it all right here.

From Perry VaileThe beautiful and bubbly Mariette is a Southern style maven, lover of Kate Spade, and has a keen eye for detail. She had her custom peach and butter wedding gown designed by Charleston based designer Carol Hannah (of Project Runway fame) and it was positively stunning. The dress stood in contrast to Mariette’s bridesmaids who were actually the ones in floor-length white dresses and floral crowns.

As New Yorkers, Mariette and her hubby-to-be Nick traveled down to Asheville to tie the knot in the impeccable Grove Park Inn, famous for its sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and its unique architecture.

Lovely details to note:

  • Mariette and Nick had a very unique ceremony! Their guests formed a winding circle around the couple during the ceremony and though it was a little windy, they participated in a beautiful candle exchange where a flame traveled through the hands of every guest arriving back at the center where the couple stood. It was a sweet and endearing ceremony set near the stone fireplace and distant mountains.
  • The bridesmaids were the ones in white! This Bride had major style points for trying something different – and it made her custom gown the crown jewel of the bridal party!
  • Mariette honored her mother at the ceremony by placing a photo of her in an empty chair at the ceremony – so beautiful!

From the beautiful Bride… My Mom has always told me I was an “old soul”. I grew up with the family at the heart of all we did. I think that must be where the emphasis of our wedding came from…all things vintage and family related. It was important to me to incorporate those aspects into our big day. Travis and I also love the outdoors and we wanted our entire wedding, including the reception and ceremony to be outdoors. We envisioned blue sky, sunshine, and the warmth of family and friends surrounding us…there was no place better to be married than the home I grew up in! The day was perfect.

Travis and I knew each other in high school, but our paths took us in different directions while pursuing our mutual love of the outdoors. I lived in Seamboat Springs and Estes Park Colorado, doing the “ski thing” and worked on a horse ranch in Arizona. Travis lived in Crested Butte. My love of family kicked in after a while…I missed them, so I headed back to High Point. Travis had the same idea. We reconnected , got together to catch up, and the rest as they say is history. Travis arranged an outing to a historical homestead that had once been in his family. There he asked me to be his wife and create a history together. Both families were waiting inside the historical home to surprise and congratulate us.

My engagement ring was my grandmother’s, given to her by my “Papaw” 65 years ago. I also wore her pearls as well as a beautiful dinner ring given to me by my parents the morning of the wedding. It was a gift to my mom, from my dad, given to her when they were first married. A silver charm containing my grandfather’s picture and my great grandmothers brooch adorned my bridal bouquet. My family’s special recipes were incorporated into the menus for the day….making it seem like dinner at home, not a catered event! Keeping with the traditions of our family, the food served was grown locally and served family style at farm tables. Honey from our family bee hives was given as favors. Yummy treats filled the dessert table, including wedding cake of course with cupcakes, macaroons and cookies. My mom surprised us again by having a vintage ice cream truck complete with music drive up at the designated time as well as a cigar roller for the guys. It was the most amazing day, one we will never forget.

Modern Sophisticated Southern Wedding at Duke Mansion

A chic color palette of metallics and black and white makes for a guaranteed stylish soiree; add in one athletic and glamorous couple and the whole bash becomes even more beautiful. Planned and designed by The Graceful Host, this Southern wedding takes sophistication to a whole new level, and Lauren Rosenau snapped every second of it for us to crush on in this gorgeous gallery right here!

From The Graceful HostEmily Breeze and Montell are both athletes from Virginia who knew of one another growing up, but never formally met. They were introduced by a mutual friend, but were completely uninterested in each other originally. In fact, neither of them were attracted to each other in the beginning! But after developing a strong friendship and talking daily, their friendship turned into a sweet romance. Then during a trip to Chicago, which is one of their favorite cities to visit, Montell proposed to Breeze. And shortly after their dream proposal, Breeze and Montell jumped right into planning for their October wedding!

When planning for their wedding our bride knew that she wanted something different – something that stood out from the rest. This bride wanted a wedding style that was all her own, with a color palette that was timeless. With an ivory, gold, and black color palette we created a design centered around a mix of traditional Southern elegance with modern sophistication. The bride and groom choose the venue, the Duke Mansion, for it’s elegance and historical roots. For the decor, we used lush textures with the floral and linens, and then mixed in pops of geometric prints giving a nod to modern style among the more classic designs. All-white, elaborate floral centerpieces and floral chandeliers by New Creations Flower Company filled the dinner tent beautifully. In addition to the metallic elements throughout the design, we included many mirrored accents throughout the tablescapes, like the oversized mirror seating chart and mirror place cards. The 8 foot mirrored tables from Nuage Designs were simply breathtaking and spoke to our bride’s style perfectly!

Even with our bride’s desire to stand out from the traditional in her decor, she still wanted to have a wedding that would stand the test of time in other ways. Breeze choose a Modern Trousseau gown from Hayden Olivia that had a classic shape with some major flare. As a professional athlete, the wedding dress was an important and personal purchase for Breeze. And she added heirlooms to her bouquet from the her paternal grandparents as a way to honor their memory on the wedding day; just as the color palette was rooted in tradition, but executed in a new and unique way.

The guest experience was of utmost importance to Breeze and Montell. We had jazz singers serenading guests during dinner, and then to get the party started, Split Second Sound was on hand to entertain all night long! A cigar roller was present during cocktail hour to pass out freshly rolled cigars and teach guests about cigars – which was actually a surprise from the bride to her groom! And then as another surprise, local mixologist Bob Peters was available to serve a few specialty drinks chosen by the bride and groom especially for their wedding.

One of the bride’s most emotional moments of the day was walking down the aisle with her dad. Just before the wedding ceremony the skies opened and it started to pour down rain! We were fearing the worst thinking we might have to pull the intended outdoor ceremony indoors. As the wedding planner, deciding to keep the outdoor wedding outside rather than pull everything indoors as it’s raining and guests are arriving is not an easy decision. But my gut was telling me that everything was going to be okay – even when the radar was impossible to predict! It was the right decision in the end, and the bride got to have her dream ceremony outdoors in the beautiful garden at the Duke Mansion. The moment I sent Breeze down the aisle to greet her groom was one of the best of my career – and I love seeing the emotion on her face as she’s walking with her dad! Our beautiful bride is an only child, so this day was special just as special for him, too. For this daddy’s girl, this amazing moment is priceless. The two of them cried a lot – and it was perfect!

Romantic North Carolina Mountain Wedding

Against the stunning setting of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville Event Co. brought this gorgeous couple’s vision to life, marrying the romantic elegance with the rustic, natural beauty of the North Carolina setting for an absolutely dazzling fete. With lush florals from Floressence Flowers and the couple’s darling dog of honor, this wedding is straight out of a storybook. Take a peek at the gallery for all the lovely details.

From the beautiful Bride… Mike and I met in the seventh grade, but it took twenty years for us to see each other as more than classmates. Through our middle and high school years in Florida, we shared many experiences and friends, but we never got to know each other well. After high school, we went in different directions; I studied at the University of Florida before moving to Austin and then Australia, while Mike attended TCU, played golf professionally and returned to Orlando. It was not until early 2012 that we were both living in the same place at the same time. We (individually) attended a mutual friend’s wedding that summer in Spokane, WA, and after talking, laughing and dancing all weekend, we came back to Orlando and started dating. Two happy years later, Mike popped the question!

From the start, we knew we wanted a destination wedding. We considered a few options that were special to one or the other of us, but Cashiers was the only location that was meaningful to us as a couple. My parents spend their summers in Cashiers, and it became our go-to spot for long weekend getaways. As luck would have it, they had taken us to Canyon Kitchen for dinner once before getting engaged, and we never stopped talking about its beauty and charm. It was the first and only place we contacted when we started to plan our North Carolina mountain wedding.

The pieces fell into place from there, starting with our wonderful event planner, Becca Stefan Knuth. She embraced our vision for a romantic, elegant and intimate affair, and went above and beyond to bring that to life. The concept for our wedding required a certain flow through the Lonesome Valley property, and three things were very important to us above all else. First, we wanted an outdoor ceremony, with the breathtaking mountain scenery surrounding us. We chose not to have a bridal party (just us, our niece, nephew and dog of honor), and the intimacy of the two of us framed by this spectacular backdrop made for a beautiful moment.

The second important piece, especially to me, was a seated dinner under an elegant tent, draped romantically in ivory and soft blush with chandeliers and lush flowers. In fact, my vision began with the look and feel of our dinner tent, and the rest of our decisions stemmed from there. Lastly, we wanted our guests to dance the night away to our band, Groovetown, and the open-air barn provided the perfect space. It also sheltered us from the rain, which fortunately held off until we were safely inside! Other details, like having a local artist paint the Lonesome Valley scenery on-site to serve as our ‘guestbook’ and late night to-go food for the shuttle ride home, were simply icing on the cake.

A unique aspect of our wedding was that we planned the entire event from a distance, but each and every person we worked with made the process absolutely seamless. Without exception, our vendors took the time to understand us as a couple, and made sure that our personalities came through in all details of our special day. Mike’s favorite moment of the night was during our ceremony, looking out at the scenery with friends and family gathered around, then finally seeing me make my way down the aisle toward him. For me, walking into our stunning tent and being introduced for the first time as husband and wife was a moment I’ll never forget. Our wedding was more than we ever envisioned it could be, and we both fondly look back on it as the best night of our lives.

From Asheville Event Co.Lindsey and Mike were a joy to work with. They initially met in middle school and reconnected later at a friends wedding. When Lindsey first contacted us regarding her wedding we were thrilled to be a part of it as Canyon Kitchen at Lonesome Valley is one of our favorite venues. Lindsey had a pretty good idea of what she envisioned which included incorporating elegant touches into a rustic environment. Lindsey wanted her guests to feel as if they were transported to a place they have never been. It was also important that the ceremony and reception be in the same location so that guests could easily walk from the ceremony to the reception. From details, such as the custom printed materials – from Atheneum Creative, to gold chandeliers and gold chiavari chairs, there was an air of elegance and romance amidst the natural box canyon. We enlisted the team at Floressence Flowers to assist us in bringing her vision to life. With an assortment of lush arrangements in varying heights the floral decor was stunning and brought in the pink and blush colors that Lindsey was drawn to. Atheneum created a custom logo for the couple that we incorporated throughout the decor elements. We also hired an artist to paint the setting during the reception – capturing the stunning view and allowing the guests to sign the canvas and offer wishes to the couple – which now hangs in their new home. It was a wonderful experience getting to work with Lindsey + Mike and assisting them in bringing their wedding vision to life.

From Blueberry CreativeWhere do we even start with these two?! We knew the wedding was going to be spectacular after we visited Parisa and Jeremy at their home in Chicago for their engagement session. These two exude style and we were blown away by them during our photo shoot. While we’re in the subject of these two, it’s worth mentioning that they started their own artisan apothecary, Town & Anchor.

Once their wedding day arrived, we were completely overwhelmed by the generosity of their family and friends and how welcome they all made us feel. The day was filled with heartfelt sentiment. Both the bride and groom are writers and their vows are some of the most eloquent we’ve heard. (We used them for the main story in their wedding film.) The toasts given by Parisa’s brother and sister had everyone at the venue in tears and, if they weren’t already, surely the song Jeremy wrote and performed did the trick.
