An Enchanted Garden Wedding Inspired by the Island of Capri!

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vibe of the aesthetic was garden-like, layered, whimsical, romantic and enchanted.
We infused vibrant colors and incorporated natural design elements from the mountains as well as from the Amalfi Coast where the couple honeymooned.

In April 2022, we went on a golf cart cocktail cruise in Mountaintop Golf Club while visiting my parents. Both of our parents were there that weekend because it was Easter (didn’t think anything of it because they came the year before for Easter).
We were driving on the 18th whole and earlier that day they had been hitting golf balls on that hole (the course wasn’t open for the season yet). He knelt down to put the ball down on the green and the next thing I knew he was on one knee looking at me with a ring in his hand. I was gobsmacked! The setting and timing was very fitting especially since our wedding, one year later, looked out over the 18th hole.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Following the ceremony, guests mingled on the clubhouse lawn at sunset. The newlyweds’ signature cocktails were based on their go-to’s; AT’s Capri Sun & JJ’s Lake Club Margarita

The dinner menu was as follows:

Salads
Mountaintop Classic Caesar- herbed crouton, fresh romaine, shaved parmesan and Boquerón’s
or
Dried Cherry and Fresh Apricot Salad- arugula, goat cheese, hazelnut, fennel with a vanilla espresso vinaigrette

Sides
Seasoned Buttered Tricolor Cauliflower
Grilled Broccolini
Hearth Roasted herbed New Potato

Entrée’s
Prime Beef Tenderloin- sauce bordelaise Carving station
Pan Seared Gulf Coast Grouper- Beurre Blanc
[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]With the bride’s fashion sense and love of color in mind, we chose a very vibrant color story with pops of yellow, corals and pinks along with softer touches of orchid and lilac.

A few weeks before the wedding, the planner/designer found some neon yellow ceremony chairs that had just been released by a company in Atlanta. Eva suggested that they be used in place of the white chiavari ones that had been ordered. They were a huge hit!! Guests were also mesmerized by the customized bar and dance floor which was a watercolor design used on the wedding invitations.

We carried through warm green tones for the tablecloths. This provided a natural backdrop for the colorful flowers to show off. Half of the tables had patterned tablecloths while the others were solid green. Moss was used as part of the centerpieces as a nod to the live moss that is common in the mountains.

With their Capri, Italy honeymoon in mind, fresh lemons were used as place card holders and were also used in abundance on the cake cart and guest book cart. Lemons made their way onto the signature cocktail menu as well.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was part Lemon cake and part strawberry cake with vanilla buttercream icing. We embraced a simple design for the cake so that the flowers could be the showstopper.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The couple’s black lab, Tiki, was the perfectly behaved (off-leash) flower girl and even broke out of the bride’s family home later that night to make an appearance on the dance floor![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The guest book was a colorful “Capri” art book by Assouline. The couple honeymooned in Capri and knew they’d love reading the messages from their loved ones in this book for years to come.[/field]

A Black-Tie Micro Wedding at The Groom’s Family Farm

“It’s about the marriage, not the wedding.” Truer words have never been spoken. When today’s bride needed to let go of her original wedding plans due to COVID, repeating this statement to herself over and over allowed her to realign with the main goal of their wedding weekend – to say “I do” to her forever person! With help from her planner, J.Elliott Style, the beautiful couple tied the knot in a gorgeous black-tie affair in the mountains at the groom’s family farm in Cashiers, NC. To see all the timeless beauty from their day, check out the full gallery – all taken by Elizabeth Lanier Photography!

From the Bride, Victoria… Russell proposed on a gorgeous Friday afternoon in March on the family property where he grew up. We frequented his farm on weekend retreats from busy city life, which made it possible for him to pull off the surprise. A very normal day and car ride down to the farm left me with no inclination of what would later ensue. With the help of family, he had transformed the space with gorgeous blooms, petals, and candles. The answer was an easy yes! Russell had invited our families and many close friends to a surprise engagement party and dinner afterward to celebrate. It was one of the best nights!

We immediately knew we wanted to host our wedding in the mountains of Cashiers, North Carolina, as this is another very special place to the two of us. We’ve spent many weekends in these mountains and loved the beauty of the rolling hills. We drew inspiration from the natural beauty of the surrounding area. When dreaming about my wedding day, I saw lots of natural tones and classic, comfortable elegance all while being surrounded by our closest friends and family in a place that means so much. Wedding planning always seemed daunting to me, so keeping the day as peaceful and laid back as possible was a huge priority, even down to the details. My mother and I made several trips up to Cashiers where we ironed out the day’s details and dreamed about how gorgeous this May evening would be.

Our original plans were to wed May 9, 2020, and I never anticipated anything changing this, certainly not a global pandemic. Towards the middle of March, even though our venue had not closed down yet, I accepted that our May 9th wedding would not be able to proceed as planned. Due to the uncertainty, many believed that the day could still go on, but Russell and I both agreed that we needed to go ahead and pivot our plans. Looking back, making the decision as early as we did was the best call we could have made. Most in similar situations chose to postpone their celebrations to later in the year, or the year following. For us, this was never an option — we wanted to be married and did not want to wait another day. So our search for the second venue began. We chose Russell’s family home, nestled by the lake was the most beautiful little island with an oak tree looking onto the water. Surrounded by our immediate family only, we said our vows. It felt just right! We hosted an intimate dinner party on the summer patio. We incorporated family heirlooms to create a meaningful table setting and pay tribute to those that couldn’t be there with us. We used my great grandmother’s Tiffany & Co China and my Grandmother’s Belgium lace tablecloth that has been passed down. My something blue was a beautiful sapphire ring that was passed down to me by my grandmother and namesake.

Throughout our engagement season, I maintained the statement that “it’s about the marriage, not the wedding”. Letting go of our original wedding plans was tough, but repeating this to myself help me manage the disappointment and realign with the main goal of our wedding weekend: to marry Russell. There were of course aspects of our wedding day that we both had looked so forward to that just could not happen, such as no wedding guests other than our very immediate families. This was not ideal, but we both knew sacrifices would have to be made and leaned on each other. We are forever grateful for our families, specifically both of our mothers, who pulled out all of the stops in a major time crunch to make this day so special for us and host such a meaningful event at home. The day ended up being so perfect just as it was, that I never looked back or thought about our original plans again. I would not change a thing!

By far my favorite memory of the day was the first look and finally getting to see Russell. The time between having to cancel plans for our original wedding to May 9th seemed like a blur. The day really felt so real when I was able to finally see him and the rest felt like a dream. Our wedding photographs were a huge priority to me and the most important investment of our wedding. Choosing Elizabeth Lanier was my first wedding decision and by far my best. Her eye for detail and love for natural light set her apart. Every image was skillfully and expertly executed with the true emotions and beauty of the day on the main display. Russell and I both felt so comfortable and at ease with Sarah Elizabeth behind the lens, which absolutely shows in the images. I could go on and on about how happy we were with Sarah and her photographs, but I will let the images speak for themselves. I would choose Elizabeth Lanier over and over again.

This Bride Wore a Ruffled, Smoke Grey, Fiercely Feminine Wedding Dress and We’re Obsessed!

The minute we laid eyes on this intimate wedding at Half Mile Farm, we were convinced there’s no way a wedding this perfect could be real – it had to be a styled shoot! Nope. It’s real, and it’s unbelievably gorgeous. Where do we even begin? The knock-out smoke grey wedding dress? The 16-person guest list? The custom table runners and vintage china? There’s just too much to love. Host and Haven brought the couple’s intimate wedding dreams to life, while Vero Events wow’d us with their romantic floral creations. Live vicariously through the full gallery – captured by Sarah Ingram!

From Host and HavenHannah and Clark met in college in Charleston, South Carolina. The bride hails from the Midwest and the groom from Boston. Once they started a planning process, they knew they wanted something destination since everyone would have to travel regardless. While they loved their little beach town for everyday life, they wanted something a little more intimate for the wedding. The guest list was kept to immediate family only and the goal was for the weekend to feel inclusive and approachable.

They chose Half Mile Farm, which is a tranquil country Inn tucked back on private property in the village of Cashiers, North Carolina. The historic farmhouse nestles perfectly on a rolling hill overlooking Apple Lake. Immediately upon arrival, your pace slows down, and that’s exactly what Clark and Hannah wanted for their big day. Hannah chose The Kahlo dress by Vagabond. The smoke grey color is made through a mixture of blush, blue, and ivory tulle. It includes an extendable train for extra drama. The structured corset front creates modern lines with the layers of texture in the tulle for delicacy. The designer describes the dress as “fiercely feminine” and we couldn’t agree more. Since the weather was a bit on the chiller side, the bride also wore a cashmere blue sweater at moments.

Her statement earrings were made by Hyla Dewitt and clutch found at a local boutique. The ceremony was set facing a beautiful historic farmhouse on a hill. Guests sat on wooden benches and were offered pashminas in the chillier temperatures. The aisle was adorned with a seagrass runner and fresh ivory rose petals. The grooms’ brother acted as the officiant and her long-term friend as a bridesmaid. Cocktails & canapes were enjoyed on the back patio of the main house. Guest nibbled on Pumpkin and Chestnut, Forest Mushroom, Sunchoke- Parsley Root Soup Shooters, Truffle Potato Croquettes with Sour Cream and Sturgeon Caviar, and Lime and Juniper Roasted Venison Skewers with Baby Shiitake and Tupelo Honey.

Dinner was served in the inside ballroom for the sixteen guests. The base linens were a velvet duck egg tone and covered with horizontal custom table runners made from Schumacher. The plate ware was a gold-rimmed charger and the dinner plate was their inherited wedding china in Juliska Country Estate. The setting was made complete with silverware, clear cut glassware, chocolate linen napkins, and a gorgeous name tag and menu designed by Emily Baird Design. A nod to traditional prints and modern lettering. The floral and textured taper candles completed the look with a mix of local foliage and blooms. Floral varieties included black eye anemones, mustard and nude roses, hellebore, queen Anne’s lace, lilac, bunny tails, delphinium, copper beech, and blossom quince branches.

A Mountain Top Wedding With A Little Rain and A Lot of Color!

Boy, do I love when a color palette completely surrounds a bouquet! What I love, even more, is when they are bright and colorful like these florals, beautifully crafted by Floressence Flowers. Not only did they deliver for the bride’s bouquet but they created the most stunning reception installation at The Mountaintop Golf & Lake Club. While a bit of a rainstorm delayed their ceremony, it made for the best mountainside images by Perry Vaile Photography! Take a peek below, and check out Hart to Hart Media’s video of the couple’s dreamy day!

From the Bride…Sam and I met on my first day of work in mid-July of 2013. Our firms, his real estate, and mine marketing shared office space at the time (and still do today!). Our friendship was platonic for two and a half years until one evening at a post-work happy hour, we found ourselves effortlessly chatting the night away and made all excuses to extend our time together. From that night on, our relationship was fast and fun.

Sam will die claiming he fell in love the moment he saw me. Cute of him, but we really sealed the deal over pitchers of Shiner Bock at Milo Butterfingers, a windowless dive bar in Dallas. My mom had sent me the NY Times article that received some attention that year, The 36 Questions That Lead to Love. I shamelessly suggested we try it out. We sat in a grungy booth laughing and listening to each other for nearly three hours. If there was any doubt before, it was gone. That night confirmed it – we had both found our match.

Fast-forward two short years. Sam proposed, and unknown to me, I planned the engagement celebration – he’s clever like that. His July birthday offered the perfect excuse to gather friends on a Friday night at, you guessed it, Milo Butterfingers (his idea). He proposed at our house a few hours before the celebration was set to begin. It was quiet, sweet, and casual. He followed protocol by getting down on one knee and delivering some unforgettable words. I said, ‘yes’. We laughed, I cried, we Facetimed with our families, ate pizza and drank champagne before heading to Sam’s birthday party to share the big news with the rest of our friends. Note: Sam never told anyone his plan, which made for a night full of surprises all around.

We quickly narrowed our sights on a wedding in the North Carolina mountains, a corner of the world near and dear to both of us. I grew up in Charlotte and have spent summers in the mountains since childhood. Sam fell in love with the area early on in our relationship, and we could not pass up the opportunity to bring our friends and family from Texas and Nebraska together to experience everything it has to offer. An activity-filled guest experience was high on our priority list, so we planned hikes and played golf in the days leading up to the wedding. I even spent the morning of our wedding day on Lake Glenville with my dad and a few close friends.

We knew we wanted to get married outdoors with a long-range mountain view, and the 18th tee box at Mountaintop Golf & Lake Club was certainly one of the most dramatic places we saw. At the edge of an elevated and exposed ridge, it delivered nearly 360-degree mountain views. For the ceremony and reception, we envisioned a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere that was classic and elegant but with a colorful twist. I have always been drawn to bright, happy colors and knew I wanted that to come through the floral. The team at Floressence Flowers took my inspiration and crafted a stunning floral and moss-topped alter for the ceremony, along with my favorite part – a matching asymmetrical bouquet. The blush tones mixed with the vibrant pinks and oranges created a beautiful contrast against the blues and greens of the mountain backdrop.

The weather was pristine all weekend, warmer than anticipated, sunny, not a cloud in the sky. That is, until 20 minutes before I was supposed to walk down the aisle. Without warning, as can be the case in the mountains, the skies opened up and it poured. Lightning, thunder, a little hail, and plenty of rain. The storm ultimately delayed our ceremony by an hour. We laughed and used the extra time to snap a few photos while our guests enjoyed a bonus cocktail hour. The rain cleared leaving a misty landscape and dramatic sky, all of which were captured by our immensely talented and hilarious photographer, Perry Vaile.

Our cocktail-style reception was on a grass lawn under a sailcloth tent. The entry path was lined with lanterns and the space was filled with café lights and candles. Hanging floral installations framed the dance floor, which Sam and I did not leave all night long. We made our exit in a flurry of white confetti and rode slowly to Old Edwards Inn in the back of a white 1980s Excalibur Phaeton. With the top-down under the star-filled sky, it was the perfect end to a weekend we will never forget!

A Rustic Wedding in Highlands, North Carolina

Next up on our day of Brett Heidebrecht, we’re headed to the North Carolina mountains for the ultimate autumn “I do”. With a backdrop of golden leaves and pinch-me views, this couple tied the knot amongst so much natural beauty it nearly stole the show. Fall brides, The Vault is officially your inspiration goldmine.

From the photographer, Brett… The North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains provide one of the most breathtaking views for a ceremony I’ve ever had the privilege of photographing. What started out as a rainy morning turned into a sunny, blue skied day out on the beautiful High Hampton Inn lawn with the face of Rock Mountain and Hampton Lake in the background.

It’s one of those views that seems too good to be true. All eyes on the majestic mountain, that is until Shepard made her way down the aisle in her showstopper of a gown by Monique Lhuillier.

From the lawn we moved to a beautiful tent out on the golf course. The Retreat out of Atlanta serenaded as Brendon & Shepard shared their first dance on the black and white checkerboard dance floor. After dinner the band played one of the liveliest dance parties I’ve seen and even included an impromptu cameo by one of the guests on saxophone. We closed the night with sparklers, the bride and groom charged through as their friends and family wished them a cheery goodbye.

American Persian Fusion Lonesome Valley Wedding

Asheville Event Co. is behind some of my very favorite weddings ever. They layer love with style in a way that is unparalleled and this wedding might just be my all time favorite of their weddings. Ever. Caroline Ghetes captured the Lonesome Valley wedding and you’re about to see why it’s my favorite!

From the planner… Ida + Clay love to drive…They met in high school but it wasn’t until they re-met later in life that the sparks flew. With their affinity for the mountains of Western North Carolina it was appropriate that they find the perfect place to exchange their vows. So…while driving along the windy road from Highlands to Sapphire they just happened to pass Lonesome Valley. They both thought it was the perfect place to celebrate their wedding and they were in luck since Canyon Kitchen had recently begin hosting weddings.

This was a rustic, American/Persian wedding and we loved being a part of it! The Persian ceremony was very unique and touching, and filled with personal touches – handmade pillows, rustic pews. The reception was filled with handmade desserts, carpet coasters and the Persian/American meal that James Beard Nominee Chef Fleer created. At the end of the night the guests danced the night away and roasted s’mores over an open fire.
