From Brklyn View Photography… Walking around the West Village is one of Tiffany & Cliff’s favorite things to do around in city. There are so many wonderful locations, shops and streets to visit that are just picture perfect. I’m so thrilled to share a few images from Tiffany & Cliff’s West Village engagement session. The weather started off cloudy but the sun came out right around sunset for some gorgeous engagement photographs by the water. We walked around and visited The Corner La Esquina, stopped by a gorgeous brownstone street before having some Good Humor ice cream bars at Pier 54 at Hudson River Park. Tiffany & Cliff are so much fun to hang out with and I’m so excited for their wedding later this year.

Tribeca Rooftop Wedding from Therese Marie Wagner Photography

Words are escaping me at the moment because I am head over heels in love with this Bride’s Vera Wang show-stopper of a gown. Like jaw on my desk, falling out of my chair type of love. And the love just keeps growing with every perfect picture snapped up by Therese Marie Wagner Photography. It’s a fête filled with that classic New York style that gets me every time, and when you add that to a gown that couldn’t be more gorgeous? I can do nothing but surrender to the pretty. See it all here.

And it all just gets better thanks to Michael Simon

From Therese Marie Wagner PhotographyFiorenza & Jason are a gorgeous couple and a dynamic duo. The bride could easily be at home on Broadway with her powerful voice and vivacious personality, which paired beautifully with Jason’s sense of ease and sparkle. For their wedding this couple choose classic New York venues with touches of Parisian elegance.

The couple got ready at The Eventi in Chelsea; their suite decor of vintage prints and stage style lighting was a photographer’s dream. Fia looked divine in her Vera Wang gown with its layers of organza and delicate beading. For the after party she donned a Marchesa gown from Mark Ingram Atelier. Her bridesmaids wore Grecian style dresses in the palest shades of lavender and rose from Amsale. New York florist Belle Fleur created soft, romantic bouquets to pair with lightness of the gowns. The bride gave her mother a little statue of Marie Antoinette as they were getting ready, a hint to their Parisian theme. The groom wore a single gardenia boutonniere, very Cary Grant. East Six Stationary crafted stunning letterpress invitations.

The bridal party moved to St. Francis of Assisi Church on West 31st. for their ceremony. After a beautiful ceremony the bride and groom excited the church with a fan fair of ribbons and the twinkle of bells stopping only for a brief kiss. We just loved the fanned letterpress church programs that East Six designed.

For the reception the classic New York venue The Tribeca Rooftop with stunning views of the Hudson, Soho and downtown Manhattan. Belle Fleur continues the soft romantic Parisian theme with soft candlelight and delicate roses with hand calligraphy place cards. The wedding guests enjoyed entertainment by the soulful Jazz ensemble Arcadia managed by Li Paramount. As a special treat a musical number performance by the bride and her uncle brought down the house.

Newborn Session from Lindsay Madden Photography

Since starting Style Me Pretty 6 years ago, I’ve had two babies. Audrey and William, 4 and 2 respectively. And they are perfection. Often messy, cranky, intense perfection, but perfection nonetheless. With little pink lips and eyes that sparkle and a smile that would melt just about any heart. So perfect that our two-is-enough rule is always on the brink of cracking. And after seeing this newborn session from Lindsay Madden, I am officially diagnosing myself with baby obsession disorder, otherwise known as BOD. And just wait until you see the gallery. It’s BOD to the max.

From Lindsay Madden PhotographyMeet Thaddeus, Tad for short. He was born during the Nemo blizzard on February 8th & I had the wonderful opportunity to capture his newness at just 5 days old! Thea & Nilsson are Tad’s amazing parents and I always feel so blessed to be a part of this incredible time in my clients’ lives. Newborns don’t stay newborns for very long so I always try to show up within the first week of the little one’s life in order to preserve all of the brand new sweetness they have to offer. We held Tad’s session at Thea and Nilsson’s downtown apartment in NYC and as you can see, a lot of thought went into creating a peaceful nursery for their sweet baby boy.

High Falls New York Wedding from Hudson River Photographer

As a girl who got married in a barn almost four years ago, weddings like this are the ones that I hold closest to my heart. A hot summer day, a sweet color palette, flowers that look like they were picked 10 minutes before the ceremony, and a party in the stables. In my humble opinion, there is nothing better. Hudson River Photographer captured this stunning soiree and filled a gallery with images as sweet as the honey favors. See you there?

From the beautiful bride … Growing up in Queens, Mike and I have been to about a million weddings. All of them similar in style – in a very fancy catering hall with a large ice sculpture of two swans forming a heart and someone handing you a napkin in the restroom. Although we had a blast at these weddings, we wanted something different. Neither we nor anyone in either family have been to a wedding held in a barn. Mike and I loved the style of a barn wedding. It was that or an elopement.

We wanted something very simple but elegant. Cream and green were the wedding colors because they reminded us of being outdoors and felt it suited this particular venue. We didn’t really have an overall picture of what the wedding would turn into, but everything seemed to fall into place.

Although the day itself went by fairly quickly, a few things really stick out in our memories: 1. It was HOT! The wedding took place smack in the middle of a heat wave. 2. Our ceremony was perfect – short and sweet. 3. Even though some things didn’t go as planned, it was too hot to really care. 4. We really enjoyed staying at The Sheeley House, a historic 19th century stone bed and breakfast across the street from the barn on our wedding weekend. We spent a lot of time with friends and family and were able to relax and enjoy ourselves right across from the venue. As for the photos, they came out better than we could have imagined. I really fell in love with a lot of the photos.

From the Bride… Little did I know I would be meeting my future husband all the way across the country! Brian and I met in San Francisco in December of 2009. While I am from New Jersey, Brian is from Philadelphia. I went out there to visit my good friend, Julie, and it was also my first time going to San Francisco.  Brian was there on a business trip. Once we both flew back to the East Coast, we immediately went out on a date in New York City.

I thought, where else to take our engagement photos other than The City itself. Afterall, this was where our romance and love began! As tried and true, Cly Creation did an exceptional job capturing our goofy, fun-loving personalities. I love the fact that our photos seem effortless. We also incorporated the Korean tradition of Pae-Baek, which is traditionally done during the reception. We decided to do this for our engagement photos instead for the contrast between traditional & bright vs the non-traditional & dark background of New York City. The colors, pattern, and fabrication of these wardrobes (Han Bok) are even more beautiful in person!

From the lovely bride … When Shawn and I sat down to plan our day, one thing was very clear: our main goal was that we wanted everyone to enjoy themselves. Being that our date was in the beginning of August, we expected hot weather, but little did we know that it would be the third hottest summer in recorded history! We were happy that we decided to go with a casual, intimate atmosphere for our ceremony and reception.

Choosing our venue was actually quite simple. We were looking for a place that we could hold our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We found MountainView Manor on The Knot, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. It turned out that not only was the mansion owned by a friend and former colleague’s husband, but it was originally built by the Singer family. Shawn had proposed to me in Boldt Castle located in the 1,000 Islands during our family’s annual camping trip, and the last castle on our tour was also built by the Singer family. We felt as though the stars were aligning for our big day.

The rest of our wedding planning continued to work out the same way our venue did. Our photographer was my aforementioned friend and colleague, and wife of our venue’s owner. We were married by my friend’s husband, who is a lawyer and a judge. Our good college friend was our videographer. My very good family friend did our hair for the wedding day, and her friend did our make-up. Working with people we knew and who knew one another made our day feel much more personal and it helped us stay true to ourselves.

Shawn and I also tried to put a personal touch on the décor. I spent countless hours scouring the internet for inspiration to Shawn’s dismay, as we would come home from work and I’d have another project ready for him! He ended up making the escort card holder with his father, and he also made the box for our cards at the reception.

One of the websites I frequented the most often was Etsy. Working one-on-one with vendors was another way to make sure that the details turned out just the way we wanted. papergirlstudios created the banner for the card table, and I worked closely with LittlePaperFarmhouse to create the perfect escort cards. We printed the guests’ names and table numbers on the outside, with a personal note to the guest on the inside that explained their gift was a donation in their name to the American Cancer Society in both of our mothers’ honor.

The table numbers were my pet project (pun intended). Our dog, Penelope, is a huge part of our lives. She’s a two-year-old golden retriever, and true to her breed, she is still very hyper. We knew that she couldn’t be physically present at our wedding, so we carefully chose our favorite pictures of the milestones in Penelope’s life, printed them with our table numbers, and put them in an eclectic mix of frames.

Another area where we focused a lot of attention was my mom’s table. My mother passed away four years ago from lung cancer. Before she passed, I promised her that she would be my Maid of Honor. I was determined to keep that promise, so we had Shawn’s brother and Best Man walk a candle down the aisle to a small table with mom’s urn in her memory. The candle and urn was then brought down to the reception site where a table was dedicated in her honor. I placed some of my favorite pictures of mom amongst items that were special to the two of us. Her presence was undeniable that day.

Long Island City Wedding from Judy Pak

Modern mingles with tradition in this Long Island City soiree from one of our favorites, Judy Pak. And while there’s a million and one things to love about this day, it’s the sense of understated chic, not to mention that Funfetti wedding cake, that had me at hello. See every stunning moment from beginning to end in the full gallery here.

From the Bride…My husband, Richard, and I met over ten years ago and have been dating for about six of those years. We knew from the first day we met that we were meant to be together. Our first trip together was to France, and we just fell in love with the city. Five years after our first trip there, Richard took me back and proposed in Paris, so our wedding had a little bit of a French influence. We chose the metropolitan building in Long Island City, Queens, because we felt it was such a unique venue, with antique furniture, vintage pieces, romantic style and amazing lighting. My personal favorite part of the wedding had to have been a) our crazy first dance to bruce springsteen’s “no surrender” and  b) our momofuku milk bar funfetti wedding cake. This day was something both of us reflect on all of the time – it was truly the best day of our lives!

New York City Wedding from Heather Kincaid + Firefly Events

This wedding? It’s everything. And the images from Heather Kincaid. Simply beyond. That combination of everything and beyond doesn’t happen often, but when it does right before our very eyes, we stop, take note and make sure to give you an entire weekend to really soak it all in. Because it will take that long to really get the magic happening in this gallery thanks to the workings of Firefly Events and Rebecca Shepherd Floral Design, and when you do, you’ll never want to leave. Best part? You don’t have to. See it all here.

From the Bride… When I was planning our wedding day, the element that was most important to me was light.  I’m a cinematographer and one of my jobs is shooting weddings for Fifty Foot Films. I’ve shot weddings in many locations over the last 7 years, and a common problem with New York events specifically is no light or bad lighting.

Our wedding day was so special.  It looked like rain in the early afternoon but it was decided that we would go ahead and set up on the roof and thank goodness we did.  The weather was incredible- no rain.  I wore a cathedral length veil that my bridesmaid, Rhiannon, designed for me.  It was SO windy which sent my veil flying- exactly what I’d wanted.  DRAMA!  The sunset was spectacular.  I had planned the ceremony invite time at 5pm because the sunset was at 6:30, giving us enough time to do our couple formals, which right after the ceremony don’t feel like formals at all.  We were so happy!

Heather Kincaid was our amazing, phenomenal, ridiculously talented photographer.  I met Heather when we were both shooting a wedding in LA, and her style and personality were exactly what I wanted.  In fact, she was the first vendor we chose. And, of course, the day wouldn’t have been complete without Paul and Kristine of Fifty Foot Films- they flew in to make the wedding movie, shooting on Ultra16mm film.

For our reception, our mantra was “fancy but not fussy.”  We concentrated on our guests having FUN.  Josh is Canadian, and our wedding was over Canadian Thanksgiving, so we wanted to have a feast.  Boz at Music First Productions listened to exactly what I asked for and executed it impeccably.  The lighting was just gorgeous.

It’s funny, florals were never something I cared a lot about.  Our wedding planners recommended Rebecca Shepherd and I immediately liked her personality and how she figured out early on that I spoke in pictures and then just showed me images instead of trying to get me to learn the names of flowers. Rebecca just got it, somehow, without my ever having really given her any useful instructions, just pictures.  The florals were my biggest surprise- how much I loved them and how important they were to the overall design.

Since music is Josh’s business, that was his department.  Of course, we wanted live musicians.  We had a fabulous ceremony band led by Dan Neustadt that played a score that we’d planned together.  We had a different jazz band, led by a friend, Rob Duguay, play cocktail hour.  And for the dinner part of the reception, we had a band from England, The Real Tuesday Weld, fly over to perform.  And after dinner, we had dancing with a DJ.

I’m a plan-every-single-detail-in-advance kind of girl and Josh is the do-everything-at-the-last-possible-second kind of guy.  So as we were standing in the floor-less venue two days before we were supposed to have all our family and friends there to celebrate our marriage I told Josh that if we could get through the wedding then we could get through anything.  And we got through the wedding!  More than got through- it was such a beautiful day… and we can’t wait to watch the movie!

New York City Gramercy Park Hotel Wedding from Belathee

Intimate weddings have my heart. The type of fête that almost feels like a dinner party, but with a little extra soul. Where you can chat with, and more importantly, hug everyone, and the food is delicious and plentiful. This is just such a party, and it’s made even more fabulous because it was hosted at the stylish Gramercy Park Hotel celebrating an equally stylish couple. We get to see the fête unfold through the talented lens of the ladies of Belathee – whose images couldn’t be a better fit for this timeless, intimate, NYC affair. See it all here.

From the Bride… The saying “Everything happens for a reason” feels appropriate for our wedding. Six months before the big day, we had to change our venue after a bumpy beginning to the process. But as soon as we went with Gramercy Park Hotel, it was smooth sailing to the timeless, intimate wedding we envisioned, and Tom and I spent our wedding surrounded by our favorite people in the city where we live and fell in love.

There were two indelible memories for us from a night we like to think of as the best dinner party ever (the food got serious raves). The first involved a heavy rain storm that began just before the ceremony, providing a one-of-a-kind moment. As our rabbi — a friend whom I’ve known since we were 16 — asked our 95 guests to reflect silently after Tom and I exchanged vows, we heard nothing but the downpour on the roof of the glass-enclosed terrace for a sound effect that seemed almost otherworldly. The other moment was our first dance. Tom and I didn’t want many spotlight situations like a grand entrance as a couple or cutting the cake (we even decided to bypass wedding cake in favor of macarons) — but we did want to share a first dance. So we snuck away while everyone was eating dinner and swayed and spun around with no one (except Annabel, our photographer) watching. It was wonderful to have it just be us for two minutes — it slowed down a special evening that went by far too fast.

Montauk Wedding at Sole East from Cappy Hotchkiss

If I wasn’t craving carefree summer days before, I most certainly am now after spending some time with this Montauk beauty at Sole East. It’s everything a seaside summer fête should be, complete with a color palette so happy, so vibrant you can’t help but smile at all the pretty images snapped up by Cappy Hotchkiss. And when you stumble on all the shiny happy details sitting in this gallery, that smile is sure to stick. See it all here.

From the Bride… Chris and I probably should’ve met several times before we actually did- we both grew up on Long Island, we both played lacrosse in college at rival schools that are one mile apart (Hopkins and Loyola), we used to live 2 blocks away from each other in NYC, and we have tons of friends in common. However we chose a restaurant in the Meatpacking District on a January day in 2009 to finally meet. We left the restaurant without each other’s numbers or full names but relied on a mutual great friend to connect us over email. I invited Chris to a party my friend and I had been planning for Valentine’s Day and that was that.

Our wedding was truly a collection of our favorite things. Montauk was the obvious choice for the location as all year we look forward our weekends in the summer out there. Chris likes to say that I change into a calmer person as we drive over that last hill on 27 and feeling calm on your wedding day is a great feeling! Sole East was such a wonderful spot- the natural landscape of the grounds are already so beautiful it didn’t require much decorating. The hotel makes your wedding feel as if it’s a backyard wedding- everything is free flowing, easy, and up to you how you want it to flow. Luckily we had one of those gorgeous September days that just made everything perfect. Chris and I both love tons of pictures so we decided on that for the theme of our wedding. We spent hours going through pictures we’ve taken of our friends to find the perfect seating cards, I made a photo book of Chris and I that gathered all the great pictures people have taken of us since we’ve met, and I made a homemade photo booth/guestbook using two Fujimax oversized instant cameras- guests took instant pictures of each other and taped them into a hardcover book- leaving us a note in the process. The photo book guestbook turned out even better than I expected- everyone took part! We ended the night with sparklers and our favorite dessert- Coolhaus Ice Cream sandwiches- served out of a their truck (driven all the way from NYC) that we pulled right into Sole East’s backyard. It was truly the perfect Montauk Day.

Ed and I were engaged in September, and knew we wanted to have a September wedding. Indian Summer Days with a hint of the crisp weather to come… just so refreshing! That gave us a year to plan our big day. While overwhelming at first, the minute we walked into the Liberty Warehouse we knew that’s where it was going to be. Close to the city but without the stuffy feel, the open layout, exposed brick and stunning views had us from our very first visit!

Our wedding planner, Debra Thompson, was instrumental in helping us secure vendors and putting us in touch with people she’s worked with and trusts. Ed and I both work demanding jobs and didn’t have the time or patience to comb through the internet and read through the thousands of options available to us in the tri-state area. From the amazing Perrone Brothers “Naked Soul” band that had us dancing all night, to Jenni and Ulysess of Ulysess Photography who captured it all, we could not have been happier with our Wedding Day and the entire planning process.

With nearly 300 guests in attendance, we were still able to achieve an intimate ceremony overlooking the Statue of Liberty. Cocktail Hour was held outside, enabling everyone to enjoy the ridiculously good food and stunning views with a surprise water show from the FDNY fire boat! Candles galore and gorgeous arrangements made by Ruth of Quatre Coeur helped us pull off the rustic yet refined look we were hoping to achieve. It was such an emotional day and I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing. It was exactly what we had envisioned!

Hudson Valley Wedding from Bryce Covey Photography

A great photographer can take an already special day and transform it into something magical. Something that completely sucks the viewer in and plops them right down in the middle of the celebration and this is the perfect example of that magic making. From the gorgeous surroundings of Blue Hill at Stone Barns to the wildly pretty florals by Poppies & Posies and the classic black and white images of the Mr. and Mrs that will totally melt your heart, this is a wedding that sits on the corner of cozy and classic. And there’s even some to spare. Have a look at the full day shot by Bryce Covey along with Robert Sukrachand right here in the full gallery.

Before you dive into gallery la la land, you must have a look at this sweet, sweet film shot by Kiss the Bride Films

From the bride…From our very first Blue Hill bite, two years before our engagement, we knew we were experiencing something special.  It was all at once delicious, romantic, intimate and comfortable and it was with those elements in mind that we set out to plan our wedding.  We saw our big day as the ultimate opportunity to host the people who mean the most to us, most of whom where traveling from all over the globe from Tel Aviv, London, Paris, LA and beyond to celebrate with us.  We wanted all of them to feel the love and to share in the entire experience and since many of them had never even heard of Blue Hill, a large part of the excitement in planning our wedding came from secretly knowing what a treat they were in for.

David and I both love that special something that happens when great people, good food, and yummy wine come to the table to share a meal and we wanted to curate that experience for our wedding.   Once we decided on Blue Hill, the stage was set for all of the other elements to fall into place.  Our whimsical and romantic invitations from Bella Figura provided the first insight into the vision of our day and each item on our checklist seemed to build upon the last.  From my dress to our Hudson Valley Honey favors, everything was thought of in relation to the bigger picture.  We wanted the day to be stunning, but we kept coming back to that word “comfortable” as we considered every decision.

Coming from two different backgrounds (David is Israeli and I was born and raised in the mid-west), meant a big effort on our part to make sure all of our family traditions, as well as our own, were honored and considered.  The biggest example of that effort came during our ceremony. We worked with an amazing Reform Rabbi who was entirely open to making our ceremony unique to us and we provided our guests with programs (made by yours truly) that touched on all the traditional and non-traditional aspects of the ceremony, so that everyone could follow along. Like most brides, I had a very clear vision of what I wanted the day to be like and I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked with so many amazing vendors who helped bring the vision to fruition.  Not only were they all professional and talented, most importantly they were all good people.  We were so happy and flattered to received so many compliments from our guests after the wedding and all our our vendors should share in that sentiment.  The best thing we could possibly hear was to have our guests say how much of a reflection they felt our wedding was of us and how special they felt to be a part of it. Her day unfolded into a masterpiece of prettiness, and thanks to Brookelyn Photography we get to devour every last love-filled detail right here.

From the Bride… As a designer, photographer and general artist, I knew that I would design the look of my own wedding. Having been a bridesmaid times six , I knew a fair amount going into the planning! Having never planned a large event myself, I found this a little daunting at first. But once I had a sense of what I wanted, I worked with many talented vendors and artisans to create what you will see in these photographs. Thank Heavens for Etsy! It was so rewarding to work with the many artists and craftsmen who helped bring my vision to life.

The gorgeous photography you will see in this post is from the very talented Brooke Fitts. The photos speak for themselves, and she is a true gem. I must have had a hundred people ask me what I was going to do for a photographer for our wedding, as I am one. I knew immediately upon seeing her work that I wanted her to be our photographer. She was a sweetheart and a joy to share my wedding day with. This is important because your photographer is someone you will spend a lot of time with on the day of your wedding. Our second shooter was Ruth of Ruth Anne Photography who was equally as delightful. Thank you ladies for giving a fellow photographer images she will cherish for a lifetime!

The first design element I started with was our color palette, and how that would translate onto paper. As someone who used to work in Advertising, I was most comfortable starting with print design. Once I had the invitations layout, I moved onto design boards for the event. Thank you so much to my day-of wedding planner Eileen at An Affair to Remember! She gave me amazing recommendation after amazing recommendation. My florist, Michael at Jardiniere Fine Flowers was a magician.

Kyle and I opted to sit at a sweetheart table for dinner. I have to say, we were both really happy with the choice. There isn’t a lot of alone time to be had on your wedding day. Having our own table allowed for some private conversation, but since we were situated near the door, our guests could come up to us at their leisure.

Although I like to think that Kyle and I are important, our band was really the main event of the whole wedding. The Hudson Project is based in NYC, and I cannot properly describe how insanely talented they are.

I loved every moment of planning our wedding. Probably because planning an event is a good fit for me. The actual wedding week was incredible as well. I met many of Kyle’s family members that I hadn’t known prior. It felt like a week enveloped in love. It was a dream really. Kyle and I took each moment as it came to us, and feel blessed to be joined with our best friend for life. I can only hope that other couples feel this kind of happiness. We are still floating!

New York City Wedding Film from Fiore Films

It’s weddings like this that make my job so romantic. Couples that are so sweet to one another, soirees fit for fun (and fabulous), and wedding films that bring a happy tear to my eye. Fiore Films creates the latter every time, and when the rest of the puzzle comes together like it does in this wedding, I can’t help but thank my boss for letting me do what I do every single day.

From the cinematographer … You know it was an extraordinary event when your biggest challenge in post production is figuring out what NOT to put in to the teaser! Yet again we were blessed with the most amazing bride and groom! Stunning on the outside, and unbelievably gorgeous on the inside. Words cannot describe the incredible moments throughout this day. From the precious bracelet handed down to the Mallorie by her BFF / striking mother, to Dan’s hand shaking reaction when he opened Mallorie’s gift (had us all drooling). Then there was the “Man of Honor” speech that had the entire room in tears, and the emotional parent dances that made time stand still. The incredible band had everyone dancing like crazy and yes… air double dutching on the dance floor! And of course the jaw dropping details all put together by the fabulous Jason Kwintner, of Essex House (who was in all his glory when Mallorie and Dan first stepped into the ballroom and were literally speechless). Dare we mention the spectacular cake Mallorie and Dan designed together with the Sweet Genius himself Ron Ben-Israel? And let us not forget Mallorie and Dan’s HILARIOUS and oh so fun bridal party!

The day was chock full of eye candy indeed…Though what truly made the day magical, was Mallorie and Dan’s wonderful history shared…their laughs, their tears, and their infectious love for one another. It was a very special day for everyone to say the least and we are so honored to have been there to capture it!

Hudson Valley Wedding from Sarma & Co. Photography

Wanting to treat their guests to an entire weekend of fun-filled festivities, these two NYC sweeties chose the Locusts on Hudson in Staatsburg as the perfect locale for their uber-gorgeous (+ stunningly classic) day.  And from the looks of every last glorious image captured by Sarma & Co. Photography, they couldn’t have possibly made a better decision.  Because this private estate was not only perfect for saying “I do” in the most fairytale of ways, but played host to every member of their bridal party (+ family) for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday of pretty.  See it all in the full gallery.

From the Bride… When Stuart and I began planning our wedding we had two main goals. We wanted a wedding that reflected a classic and elegant style, and we wanted a location that would allow our guests and family to enjoy a weekend of events. We live in New York City now, but Stuart grew up in Michigan and I in Washington, and we would therefore have many guests from out of town. We wanted to be close to the City and yet allow our guests to enjoy the pleasures of fall in New York State.

A friend suggested that we look at Locusts on Hudson, an estate on the banks of the Hudson River. We visited the property and fell in love with it immediately. The main house was beautiful, surrounded by acres of lawn, a pool, and a tennis court. There was everything we could have wanted for a weekend to remember. Our families and the bridal party all stayed together in the house, and we felt like we were welcoming our guests into our home.

We wanted our wedding décor to complement the beauty of the property, so we kept the colors soft, using coral, peach, ivory and white. The rehearsal dinner had a slightly “rustic” feel. Our guests dined on large farm tables with wild floral arrangements.

Central Park Boathouse Wedding from Craig Paulson + Ang Weddings and Events

Craig Paulson Photography plus Ang Weddings and Events plus the Central Park Boathouse? That sounds like a recipe for perfection. And one look at these drop dead gorgeous images, you’ll see that’s precisely the case. But the best part of it all? It’s this couple. Two people who put SO much thought into their big day to ensure their guests had the absolute best time, and from the looks of it, I’m pretty sure they did. See it all here.

From the Bride… Having our wedding at the Boathouse, in Central Park in New York was wonderful. New York is where I am from; many of my husband’s family members live there; it’s accessible for out of town guests; and many of our friends had people they could stay with. We wanted to center our wedding on bringing our family and friends together and having them get to know each other. Since my husband is a mathematician, the escort cards contained equations, which led people to their table, and sparked lots of conversation during cocktail hour. The tables were organized so that people with similar interests could meet each other, and we sent emails in advance explaining why we thought each group would hit it off. To our delight, several new friendships developed and have continued since our wedding.

We enjoyed every minute, thanks to our wedding planner, Tzo Ai, whose calming presence and attention to detail meant that we didn’t have to worry about anything. The vendor choice I knew would be most important to me in the long run was of our photographer, and Craig and his team exceeded all our expectations. Their photos beautifully capture the entire day, and they gamely trooped in the rain with all their equipment through Central Park’s Ramble after the reception for an extra shoot that remains one of our favorite memories of the day.

Upstate New York Wedding from Redfield Photography

A stunning Bride in a vintage-inspired gown, the brightest, happiest bouquet  and a gorgeous upstate New York locale like the Floating Farmhouse: that is this wedding in a nutshell. In other words, the imagery by Redfield Photography will have you at first glance, and second, and third… you get the drift. See all the goodness in one spot, right here.

From the Bride… I suppose the day was inspired by the Floating Farmhouse in Eldred.  Initially, we thought a rustic barn would be the venue to showcase the feel of upstate New York and after viewing a few of them, we realized all the bells and whistles weren’t necessary to enhance the rural appeal.  Instead, we took a gamble on a rental property in Eldred and walked into this calming, light-filled kitchen with a facade of windows facing the backyard and creek.  The Floating Farmhouse, designed by Tom Givone had all the details we wanted to set the tone of our wedding;  a sense of history, modest details, designed to contrast the perfect balance of old and new surfaces.  Most importantly, it was designed just enough that we could insert ourselves into the space.  This allowed us to incorporate photographs of family wedding portraits around the house so people could happen upon them while walking around. Although decoration was minimal, the guests were each given handmade ceramic pots I made in studio back in Philadelphia planted with succulents.  Brendan and I typed everyone’s name to place on a bamboo skewer so the pots doubled as place markers for the reception seating.  The best part about these gifts is getting to see them in their homes when we visit our friends and family and noticing how much bigger each one gets.

From Redfield PhotographyThe wedding of our friends Julianne and Brendan was one of the most special and incredible weekends of the season. I originally met Julie at my first job, post college, where she was one of my many boss-like figures. Her officiant (and my life-long best friend) Robin, met at the same job and had worked together for a few years prior. When we were asked to photograph and Robin was asked to officiate, I knew this wedding was going to be special in ways I’ve never experienced. Julianne and Brendan are two of the most talented, genuine and all around good people we know. Their wedding was intimate and emotional, filled with their closest friends and family who traveled from all over the country to celebrate. Their reception was the perfect blend of a dinner and dance party. The entire day, from start to finish, was filled with so much love.

Hudson Valley Wedding from Kelly Kollar Photography

Wedding Wednesday is here again, dear lovelies, and let me assure you this day will not disappoint. First up, we have an unbelievably elegant Hudson Valley wedding set at the Onteora Mountain House. With every detail wrapped around the idea of marrying rusticity and romance, it’s no wonder the full gallery of photos from Kelly Kollar Photography are nothing but beautiful.

From the bride…I knew that I was going to marry Noah about five minutes into our first date. In the months leading up to the proposal, which I knew was coming since we’d gone ring shopping earlier in the year, I (unsuccessfully) attempted to hide my constant browsing of the many wedding blogs and websites. When he finally popped the question, I already had a long list of venues I wanted to visit. A week later, we visited the Onteora Mountain House, and from the moment we stepped onto the property, we couldn’t imagine having our big day anywhere else. It felt like home.

I started a Pinterest board in the early stages of the planning process and I kept coming back to the idea of branches. It seemed like a good place to start, considering Noah and I had decided that the unofficial theme of our wedding would be “elegant rustic,” a perfect combination of our two personalities. I had visions of homemade branch centerpieces, which we spent hours and hours creating. However, after realizing that they would most likely be a source of worry in the days leading up the wedding (they were a bit unstable and top-heavy), I decided to scrap them. I wanted to focus my full attention on my friends, family, and husband-to-be. Best decision I ever made! Our florist swooped in and saved the day with simple, gorgeous pieces that even incorporated a few branches!

I wanted the wedding to feel elegant, but also personal and special. My aunt, a graphic designer, designed all of our paper (save the dates, invites, programs, menus, table numbers…); my mom decoupaged our gift box and tissue boxes to be laid out for guests before the ceremony; and my uncle, a professional Broadway musician, played the guitar as I walked down the aisle. Since Noah is an avid reader, I wanted to incorporate books in some way. I wound up making roses out of book pages and delivering them to our florist, who used them in the seating card table arrangement. We designed our whole (10 minute!) ceremony with our reverend’s help and wrote our own vows, which, even though I was a little nervous about them, turned out to be a highlight of the day.

Noah and I agreed that the weddings we’d most enjoyed in the past were the ones where we felt taken care of, and that’s how we wanted our guests to feel. We shuttled everyone to the venue in yellow school buses and, as soon as they arrived, the Onteora staff provided them with refreshments. The caterer, Blue Mountain Bistro, uses local and seasonal ingredients, and we couldn’t have been happier with the food. Our instincts about the venue were exactly right—all of our guests were so comfortable at the Onteora, with its cozy wood pavilion overlooking the Catskill Mountains. And as the guests boarded the buses at the end of the night, our nieces and nephew handed out cake pops that we’d schlepped up from a cute little shop in the city.

I won’t lie….I stressed like crazy in the months leading up to the wedding. My way to deal was to plan out every last detail. I left no stone unturned. For example, everyone with any sort of role to play in the wedding was given a (very!) detailed itinerary of the day. I got a lot of teasing for it, but if I have one piece of advice for other brides, I will say that planning every last detail is TOTALLY worth it. I didn’t have a thing to worry about on the day of, which meant I could relax and drink mimosas with all my ladies knowing that all of the hard work had already been done. It was a perfect day. Truly, I wouldn’t change a thing. And I got the most amazing husband in the whole world out of it.

New York City Wedding from Loreto Caceres Photography + Well Spun Weddings

New York City not only serves as the backdrop to some of our most favorites weddings, but it also tends to act as the guest of honor in those same stylish soirees. With its story-filled streets, the lucky ladies and gents that call the big apple home can’t help but be smitten. This couple couldn’t imagine tying the knot in any other place – it’s the city where their story began, and their wedding day captured by Loreto Caceres Photography? It’s one oh-so-gorgeous chapter. See so much more here.

And don’t miss the equally beautiful film by Well Spun Weddings

From the Bride… Andrew and I both came to New York, from different places at different times, following our dream jobs in hopes of careers. We have both come to love New York and each other so much, so when it came time to plan our wedding, we knew it had to be here. We chose our venue for many reasons, but mainly because of its location – at the tip of lower Manhattan, in Battery Park. A beautiful restaurant in a park along the water with views of the Statue of Liberty – yes, please! Despite being a chilly, blustery day in October, the sun was out and set in the most magnificent way as we said our vows.

The most important thing to us was to be surrounded by our amazing family and friends. To thank them for their endless love, support, and companionship, we wanted to throw a party and celebrate our happiness with them. From our delectable food & drinks, the jazz cocktail hour & phenomenal dance band at our reception, to the old-fashioned trolleys that transported our guests to the venue, after-party, and back to their hotel, all we wanted was for people to have a fabulous time – and that they did!

The details of our beautiful day were made possible through a family effort, especially by the talented women in my life. My aunt, who is also my godmother, married us in a touching, witty, one of a kind ceremony. Other aunts and my matron of honor handmade our ring bearer pillows and their bowties, painted our charming signs, and wrote out our escort cards after I stamped and edged them. My mother provided the lanterns and other decorative elements that our florist brought to life with candlelight and succulent bursts of color. We cut our cake with a sword (coincidentally provided by the venue), which symbolized the honor of some of the great men in both of our families whose own military swords have cut the wedding cakes of other relatives. And although my maternal grandparents couldn’t make the trip, we wrapped a piece of lace from my grandmother’s wedding dress around my bouquet, and they were in our hearts the whole day.

Our favorite part of the night was looking out at all of the gorgeous, smiling faces in the glow of our reception, in overwhelming awe that we had nearly everyone we deeply care about in one room celebrating with us. Andrew and I are inspired by our wonderful family and friends, by each other’s charm and goodness, and by our great city – to marry each other in the midst of all of that was an incredible experience we will never forget.

New York City Wedding from Ryan Brenizer Photography + DM Events

DM Events and uber-stylish weddings.  Two things that were seriously meant-to-be.  And in the case of this breathtakingly gorgeous NYC affair, it was meant-to-be with a mind-blowing contemporary design held at Studio 450 with just a dash of whimsy.  In other words, a personality-filled, pink-loving masterpiece.  See all of the pretty captured by Ryan Brenizer Photography in the full gallery.  It’s beyond amazing.

From DM Events… Rosanne and Chris had a wonderful hands-on approach to their weddings day. Everything was personal – from the homemade mixers for the signature cocktails to the adorably entertaining swing dance they performed! Their touch was in every nook and cranny!

From the start, Rosanne envisioned a design that was soft, but minimal. We knew right away that we needed to create exceptionally clean lines, so we paired long tables with modern chairs to begin developing the design she loved. We were very careful with color – almost everything at the wedding was white, gray, or silver. The color and the soft elements of the design are only found in the touches of florals – we selected notoriously soft flowers including hydrangeas, roses, carnations, and ranunculus in order to freshen the otherwise crisp design. The stationery was kept very modern and in line with the overall design theme. There was a bit of whimsy snuck in at the dessert bar! Guests had a blast sipping milk and snacking on treats well into the early morning!
