From the Bride… “New York, New York so good they named it twice” is a quote that hangs on the gallery wall in our living room and embodies everything we wanted for our wedding. New York City is the place we met, fell in love, and built a life together, so what better place to have all our favorite people join us to celebrate the beginning of our next chapter as husband and wife!

Having a winter wedding wasn’t something we originally planned for, or even thought of, but it turned out to be exactly what we wanted the weekend to be – all about our guests celebrating with us! With family and friends traveling from all over the country (and world!) New York City was the perfect international hub that allowed easy access for everyone and endless possibilities for places to stay and things to do. Using the Riley & Grey wedding website platform allowed for guests to RSVP online and find all our our weekend information in one place.

What we wanted more than anything was to spend time with our guests and for guests to feel like they were a part of our weekend and not just another number on the list. We hosted a welcome dinner the night before, the main event, a casual after party, and the day following the wedding we rented out a laid back neighborhood bar for everyone to gather and swap stories over pizza and brunch cocktails.

Guesterly books allowed us to “introduce” the guests to each other by sharing a photo, their connection to the bride and groom, where they were from, and a fun fact about each and every one. Many guests told us later that they carried them around all weekend and would make connections or speak to people they saw in “the book” that they may have never met without it.

When we decided to have a New York City winter wedding, the venue was the first decision we made. We searched for a venue that could host the ceremony and reception to cut down on transitions and everyone having to bundle up and go back out in the cold.

Once we discovered the Brooklyn Winery, we immediately loved the vibe of the space and set up a time to check it out. Their Director of Sales, Rachel, gave us a tour and broke down how the event would run; every detail she shared seemed to be better than the last! She understood our vision and made us feel that this was the place for us. They took care of everything from the food, to bar, to table settings, and candles which made the logistics of the day so much easier.

The space itself has so much character so keeping it simple with the flowers and decor was the way to go. With the addition of striped table runners, white florals, and an abundance of candlelight, the venue felt welcoming and romantic. The string lights that we chose were the perfect touch on a dark winter night.

Photography was the most important thing to me and I wanted to find someone who could capture us as a couple as well as all the small, in-between moments of the day. Some photographers looked too formal, some too predictable, but when I came across Ashley Caroline, her work blew me away. Andy loved that the couple’s looked comfortable and that she focused on using natural light as much as possible. The images are so special because they live on after that one day in our lives and bring us back to so many happy moments. Ashley’s calm demeanor and personable approach made the day go incredibly smoothly even when it ended up being the coldest February 20th in NYC history and we had to stay inside for all the photos! Luckily the incredible floor to ceiling windows at the Wythe allowed for the beautiful light to pour in and accommodate 25+ people and even our dog.

Since I did not want a strapless dress, my selections were more limited. The staff at Lovely allowed me to browse their selections and choose a variety of styles. I fell in love with Rosa Clara’s designs because of the intricate beading and attention to detail. The low back balanced the high neckline and it was unlike any dress I had seen before.

I am so lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life who also happen to be in the business of weddings. From my sorority sister who helped design our invitations and personalized logo that we used throughout the weekend, to my friends from high school who each have Etsy stores of their own for welcome bags and chalkboard signs, to a childhood friend who brought our floral vision to life! Working with friends made the day that much more special and memorable. Our videographer filmed two of my best friend’s wedding earlier in the year, so I knew he was going to capture the day perfectly and he didn’t let us down!

When discussing how we wanted the day to be, Andy and I kept coming back to the idea of a unique experience for our guests with our family and friends at the heart of it. We had a small bridal party with just our siblings and important children in our lives. My uncle and friend sang an amazing rendition of “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” while we walked down the aisle and our guests sipped cocktails in their seats. We wrote each guest a personalized note that served as their place card sharing memories and the reception was free of long speeches with only my parents and me and Andy saying a few short words of thanks. We wanted it to be a fun, unforgettable party celebrating the beginning of our married life together.

From W Studios New YorkThe Foundry is the gem of Long Island City. Originally used as a metal foundry, this venue is one of a kind, its industrial structure softened by the natural greenery and vines that envelope the building. It was the perfect spot for Jen and Zach to host their intimate wedding! We started the day with the girls at the St. Regis complete with personalized glasses of rosé, monogram pjs and of course a few jumps on the bed! After we headed to the Foundry, where Jen was escorted by her uncle to say her vows with Zach surrounded by the closest family and friends. We loved all of the gold accents that brought a touch of old world glamour to the celebration, from the golden leaves in the bridesmaid bouquets to the gold glitter artfully sprinkled around the table numbers. With taper candles, string lights and Moroccan style lanterns lighting up the brick interior, the scene was set for a perfect evening. Long tables spanning the length of the room buzzed with happy conversation and the clinking of glasses. The guests danced in an adjacent room and just when they thought the party was at an end, the newlyweds surprised them with a whiskey bar and a dessert table complete with a MomoFuku Milk Bar cake, cupcakes, donuts, and s’mores!

From the Bride… Our day was nothing short of wedded bliss! Every detail so close to our hearts, finally coming together with those we love most, sharing in the moments we will never forget – perfection, from the anxiously awaited first look on the breathtaking terrace of the Foundry, to hearing the cheers of our guests as Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” escorted us down the aisle, the intimate Southern Supper ringing in our new nuptials and at last, the coup de grace of the now famous Billy Joel charade between my Uncle and my Groom. We simply could not have fathomed a more fitting celebration and are forever thankful for the gracious support of our wonderful family, friends and vendors.

Moody Indoor Urban Wedding at The Foundry

Urban elegance is the name of the game for this Long Island City wedding photographed by Lindsay Hite of READYLUCK. Starting with a ceremony covered in twinkling cafe lights and ending with a reception that’s the very definition of “chic,” it’s no wonder Around Town Entertainment kept the party going well the night. See it all waiting in THE VAULT.

From the Bride and Groom, Lesley and Josh… From the outset, we wanted to throw a beautiful and personal party for our friends and family to celebrate the love we have for each other and for them. We envisioned New York City as the location of our wedding because the city is where our relationship began. It’s where generations of our family members married, and, practically speaking, is a close destination for the majority of our guests. We wanted the wedding to have an offbeat, but elegant vibe that would reflect our interests and personalities, as well as put this beloved city on display.

We were instantly attracted to The Foundry – partly because of the view of Manhattan, partly because of the lush courtyard, and mostly because it felt like it had a lot of character. At the same time, it was a terrific blank slate to translate our vision. After that was decided on, we selected vendors that both connected with our vision and we felt would be easy to work with despite us being in Utah and their being in New York.

From the Bride, “Soon after we selected the venue, I started searching for her dress and found ‘the one’ at Alta Moda, a local dress shop in Salt Lake City. This dress had everything I wanted, and didn’t even know I wanted! I fell absolutely in love with the dress’s unique, intricate lace pattern, its feminine silhouette that accentuated my curves, and ultimately, it’s timeless feel.”

We spent a lot of time concerning ourselves with tangible details – coordinating typefaces, colors, materials, and all things tactile. We were struck by the story of The Foundry, which had been part of the local brass and metal production industry. We wanted to avoid an overly industrial look, but chose neutrals and metallic colors as sort of a nod to the building’s history. This palette also complemented everything else – the flowers, the food, the music, the people, etc.

We truly lucked out with our vendors. Lindsay from READYLUCK was a pure joy to work with. She is an incredibly talented photographer and one of the kindest, most thoughtful and easy-going people we worked with. Hiring her was by far one of the best decisions we could have made during our planning process. Our caterers were phenomenal to work with throughout every phase of the planning process and brought us both such joy to see how our ideas materialized on the big day. Working with them was one of the highlights of planning because we shared so much love and appreciation for each other.

We were thrilled to partner with Saipua, whose design aesthetic perfectly complemented the ambiance we strove to create. We also loved that Saipua, in essence, is a mother-daughter business with Sarah as head florist and designer and Susan, master soapmaker. For favors we knew everyone would enjoy, Susan created customized soaps we gave our guests at the end of the evening. A live band was a must, and we were thrilled with Around Town’s renditions of each and every song. Having them there certainly made the reception all the more lively and photogenic.

We did not have too many DIY elements (other than our vows). The most unique aspects of our wedding were the ceremony and cake. The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s oldest friend who got to know Josh especially well during the couple’s courtship in New York. Her ceremony was so touching and personal – it was by far one of the most talked about features of our wedding. Similarly, the wedding cake was actually made by a close friend of the bride, from college. It was such a treat to involve her in this way. We placed complete trust in her and the results far exceeded our expectations.

From the bride, “It’s hard to know what advice to give because I’m not sure whether it’s better to give advice based on what went right or wrong. A lot of former brides advised me to “enjoy every moment,” Honestly, that was harder to manage than I expected, in part because I still felt somewhat responsible for getting things done on the day of the wedding, and that gave me additional, unwelcomed stress. So my advice is a bit more specific: ‘In order to be fully present and enjoy every moment (1) make sure your “day of” timeline and plans are as final as you need them to be to feel relaxed, (2) be sure checks for tips are made up in advance and someone has been delegated the task of distributing them, and (3) drink just enough to relax your expectations and truly enjoy your party.’

Chic NYC Autumn Engagement Session

Oh, Fall in New York…is there anything better? Not unless you have Rebecca Yale Photography by your side capturing the love. She followed these two from a stroll through Central Park to high above the city (102 stories, to be exact!) and her photos in THE VAULT are engagement sesh perfection. More pretty right this way.

From the Bride… Kevin and I moved to NYC not long after we had first started dating. This city is the place where our relationship flourished and where we fell in love. You can’t live in this city and it not become a part of who you are. Because of this, we knew exactly where we wanted to take our engagement pictures so that our photos truly represent us and our relationship. We wanted to know that when we look back at our engagement photos 50 years from now, that floods of memories will come pouring back of what our life was like at that time.

Pictures in Central Park were pretty much non-negotiable. Walks through the Park with our pup, Georgia Brown, are consistently part of our routine, and it is also the place where Kevin proposed.

It is also not a secret that NYC is not an easy, slow-paced, stress-free place to live. I desperately wanted the pictures of us high above the city with the skyline in the background, because to me, without a word these pictures are saying “with you by my side, I can not only take on this city, but everything the world throws at me.”

Our engagement session with Rebecca was one of the happiest, most fun days of our lives and we absolutely cannot wait to have her photograph our wedding day!

From Anne Barge… Laura Benanti, Supergirl and Nashville actress, was married in a private ceremony at Riverside Church in New York City this past Sunday, November 15th.

Benanti wed beau Patrick Brown in a strapless, Alençon lace Anne Barge gown from Mark Ingram Atelier. I am a longtime fan of Benanti – from her Tony Award-winning performance in Gypsy – and was overjoyed to have Laura in one of my designs.

On stands in People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive Issue, I revealed my well wishes for the newlyweds. “Laura is exactly the type of bride that inspires me. She is a timeless beauty with a vibrant spirit. I was thrilled to have her in my gown and wish Laura and Patrick a lifetime of happiness together.”

The intimate ceremony and reception included family, friends, and close colleagues, including fellow actors Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Connie Britton, Celia Keenan-Bolger, John Ellison Conlee, Michael Arden, Julie White, and Chelsea Nachman. Musical theatre writer and performer Todd Almond sang his song “Take Good Care of Me” for the couple during the church ceremony.

Elegant Fall Wedding in an Old Textile Factory

For starters, Justine and Miles are college sweethearts and you know that gives us all the feels. Add in that their Big Day was a culmination of his love of modern simplicity paired with her love of rustic charm, and you’ve got the perfect party. It’s a day complete with Pinterest-worthy Bella Figura paper goods, a literal waterfall room, and one crazy-gorg couple. With fine art photographer Kate Ignatowski behind the lens, this gallery is frame-worthy from start to finish. See it all in THE VAULT!

From Kate IgnatowskiJustine and Miles are college sweethearts and best friends. There is a comfort between them that made my job as the photographer so easy. I absolutely loved working with them throughout the entire process and was thrilled to see them so happy on their special day.

As for the inspiration behind their wedding, Justine tells it best.

From The Bride…If Miles and I each had our own way, and planned two completely separate weddings, they would have looked very different. His would have been simple with modern charm. Mine, over the top rustic with a girly touch. The beauty in planning this wedding together was striking the right balance, and at the end of the day, always coming to an agreement on all details that we both couldn’t have been happier about.

The first two pieces of the wedding we booked were our venue and photographer. Both helped to set the stage for all future decisions we would make. The Roundhouse at Beacon Falls was the first venue we visited. Having never been to Beacon before, we fell in love with the charm of the town – flourishing with local artisans and designers. Our decision was further solidified after stepping into the beautiful event space on the grounds. The Waterfall Room offered a simple palette that had enough character to stand on its own, but we knew would light up with early fall floral accents.

Next was our photography choice. Photos have played a major part in both of our lives. We love going through family portraits and even more so, collecting old photographs to keep for memory’s sake. Finding a fine art film photographer was on the top of our list, and Kate’s work stood out to us. Her photographs are beautiful, and capture more than a moment. They tell a story, which is exactly how we wanted to look back and remember our day. Not only was Kate a fantastic photographer, but she also served as a wonderful creative partner. Always willing to brainstorm ideas and when sought out, Kate’s advice was consistently sound and reliable. She completely ran the show the day of our wedding, and we wouldn’t have asked for it any other way.

Food, music and flowers were all tremendously important to us. We worked with terrific vendors all around. At the end of the evening, we couldn’t have been happier than to have seen all of the smiling faces around us celebrating the start of our new lives together.

Rustic + Elegant Hudson Valley Wedding

You know what we love? Couples who give back on their special day. Like Amanda and Jeffery, for instead of gifts they asked for donations towards the organization that supported the Bride throughout her cancer treatment. A day filled with endless love, and a story that came full circle at their barn with a chandelier celebration with Lindsay Madden Photography behind the lens. See it all in THE VAULT!

From the Bride… Mt. Gulian was the only venue we visited and we booked it on the spot. Our vision for the day was “barn with a chandelier.” Casual but still a little elegant. The venue staff and our vendors created just the feeling we wanted.Planning in general, and particularly planning something as complex as an out-of-town wedding, is not something that comes naturally to me. I often found myself frustrated with the process. My best advice is this: work with amazing vendors! I chose people who felt like friends and that made all the difference!

I can’t say enough good things about Jeanne Stark who was our “Day-of” coordinator. Actually, she helped me all year. Then, on the day of the wedding, she took over and made it all happen. Jamie at Bridge Creek Catering was amazing also. Our guests raved about the food. Our flowers were local and in season. I left the design up to our florist, Heather Lundy at A Night in Bloom, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

After all the stress of planning the wedding, I couldn’t believe how much fun we ended up having! The most precious part of the day was our first looks and enjoying that moment just the two of us.

As a brain cancer survivor, it was important to me to incorporate some gratitude to an organization that really supported me through my toughest times in treatment. So instead of wedding favors we donated to The Humboldt County Breast and GYN Health Project. All in all, it ended up being a perfect day for us. Having everyone we loved enjoying themselves in the same place at the same time was magical. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Chic Fall Wedding in Brooklyn

There’s just something about Brooklyn that feels so effortlessly cool, so it came as no surprise that this native New Yorker (who happens to be on team SMP!) chose it as the location for her autumn wedding. They chose September 11th and in the bride words, “I decided we should celebrate our love with the support of our friends and family in a step toward honoring the gift of life and reclaiming that date.” It’s a beautiful sentiment with a beautiful wedding to match, and you can see more from Emma McDonald Weddings in THE VAULT.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/143667790 600 338]

From the Bride, Lucy… Since Shaun and I were friends before we started dating, we wanted our wedding to be very relaxed, and a ton of fun! As Brooklyn residents, we chose to get married in Williamsburg at an old-school Italian venue with stunning views. Our anniversary happened to fall on September 11th, and as a Native New Yorker I decided we should celebrate our love with the support of our friends and family in a step toward honoring the gift of life and reclaiming that date.

With Shaun from England and Scotland, he opted for a kilt of his family’s tartan in a nod to his heritage. I surprised him with “The Final Countdown” (an inside joke) on bagpipes and he nearly lost it before I walked down the aisle! With the flowers and decor, I wanted to set a “wonderland” whimsical feel against the glamorous backdrop of the skyline to merge our two styles and backgrounds. The night was so magical and we could not have asked for a more beautiful evening.

Dream Wedding at The Plaza in New York City

Say hello to the quintessentially perfect New York City celebration at The Plaza Hotel! With the ever-so-talented Brian Dorsey Studios behind the scenes capturing every lovely detail (like those glamour girl blooms a la Anthony Brownie Flowers And Events), it’s the type of gallery that just keeps on giving. And lucky for us because we’ve unlocked every lovely moment in THE VAULT!

From Brian Dorsey StudiosNola & Derry met in college while both attending the University of Notre Dame. “We were in this nerdy Honors Program Freshaman year… but we didn’t start dating until we were Sophomores.” Straight out of a Rom-Com, they sat next to each other in class and Derry suggested the old “Study Session”…. The rest was history!

Fast forward to the proposal, which was seriously dreamy. The two were vacationing with family in Tuscany, two days into their trip, when they visited the exact church where Nola’s parents had gotten married many years before. In the vineyard behind the church was where Derry popped the question, playing his soon to be Mrs. a song on the violin. As soon as she said yes, it began misting and the church bells rang. Unbelievable! How he snuck a violin to Italy, Nola still doesn’t understand… but she’s glad he did!

Diving headfirst into wedding planning, our bride always knew she wanted red to be a focus color on her big day, and her Groom loves green (Irish heritage + Notre Dame) but having a spring wedding resulted in the challenge of making it seasonably appropriate to use those two colors side by side. Anthony Brownie Flowers & Events was the man for the job. He softened the entire palette by adding hues of blush, peach, coral and ivory.

Now that she had her color scheme picked out, it was time to find the dress… which was not an easy task for our feature bride! She loved so many different styles and shapes that it became hard to choose. After several trips with an entourage, she decided there were “too many cooks in the kitchen” and shrunk her entourage down to only her mom and sister. Next thing you know, she found her dream gown – simple and elegant – by Justin Alexander at a small boutique in Atlanta.

Nola has two key moments that stuck with her from the day of her wedding. The first look was an important decision for this bride, which gave her and the groom time alone to talk and take it all in. “It was very intimate.” The second was spending the night before her wedding with her sister in a suite at the Plaza. It was like the ultimate slumber party before she’d change her last name. (Very “Eloise” of her, we might add.)

It’s important to stress that not all moments on such a crazy day will be smooth sailing! After taking pictures with the team at Brian Dorsey Studios, the plan was to take a black car to the church to get hitched… but no one had their phones to call for one, so the bride and groom rolled up to their ceremony in a Yellow Taxi while the coordinator turned around to get Nola’s veil – which she forgot!

Our bride was cool, calm and collected. She made it down the aisle (veil and all) – married the love of her life – and now it was time to party. “Why did I choose The Plaza? When you think of a New York Wedding…. that’s exactly what you think of. It made me feel special.” The Plaza was the perfect choice for this classic, fun couple. It was an ideal vacation destination for their many out of town guests. Nola and Derry saw a Plaza Wedding as their chance to share quintessential New York City with their friends & family.

From The Bride…If I had any advice to give to other brides/couples… it would be to have a First Look. It’s a super intimate moment for just the two of you and it allows you the opportunity to take in the beauty of the day. Also… Don’t be afraid to share the Wedding Planning experience with loved ones. My bridesmaids did my manicure and pedicure the morning of my wedding. Embrace people wanting to make you feel special. Allow your loved ones to be a part of it. Let the whole process be the wedding – instead of just that one day – because it really does go by in a flash. You’ll inevitably leave your veil behind, or forget to book a car. Those things happen. Look at every small moment – down to selecting your flowers – as the wedding on a whole. You won’t be AS sad after it’s over!

Rustic DIY Wedding at The Farm at Pond Lily

There are few things I love more than a barn wedding, but give me a barn wedding with a plethora of DIY details and a big ol’ side of romance captured beautifully by Bo and Brendan of CLY BY MATTHEW and this, loves, is where you’ll find my happy place. Think a stunning ceremony, soft pink + gray hues and the sweetest of duos who’ve known each other since high school.  See it all in THE VAULT right this way.

From Cly By Matthew… Mary and Jeff’s wedding was such a fun and rustic DIY wedding at The Farm at Pond Lily! The bride wore a sweet vintage inspired, BHLDN gown and carried a beautiful Dahlia bouquet. Mary has such a pretty smile that really brightens up the room!

This couple couldn’t keep their eyes off each other! They’ve known each other since high school, so they had many mutual friends who came to celebrate with them. One of their close friends officiated their wedding, as well. The bride and groom made all of the lawn games and their own polaroid photo booth station for the guests. All the little details were meaningful for them and they put in a lot of effort to make the wedding that they had envisioned. And, of course, they ended the night with a wonderful sparkler exit!

Industrial Meets Rustic Chic Wedding

This wedding right here?  It’s everything.  I’m talking beautiful rustic meets industrial stylings, crazy cool DIY projects (crafted by one very talented bestie), fabulous centerpieces from Whispering Pines of Chappaqua and a super cute duo dancing the night away.  Head to THE VAULT for every moment captured brilliantly by Clean Plate Pictures… and prepare to be amazed.

From Clean Plate Pictures… Laura and David tied the knot at the gorgeous Roundhouse Beacon this past July! The area is full of great places to shoot, from the nearby railroad tracks to the beautiful falls outside the venue. After a sweet outdoor ceremony everyone headed inside for dinner, speeches, and most importantly, dancing! From tearing it up on the floor to posing for pics at the photo booth, everyone had such a great time at this beautiful wedding.

From the Bride… We really wanted our venue to be different from a traditional “wedding factory” style location. We wanted a site that had a rustic, industrial vibe. At first, we toyed with the idea of renting an empty space and filling it with food trucks, but it just became too complicated. In the end we chose a venue that combined the look we wanted with the practicality that we realized we needed.

I wanted a romantic industrial style- metals and woods with whites, grays and greens. Our vision was to capture the rustic/industrial feel while bringing an old retro romantic feeling to it. To complement the industrial space, we went with greens, grays, and whites. We chose bright white flowers to offset the muted gray tuxedos and dresses. My husband wore a midnight blue tuxedo which gave a punch of color.

I really lucked out that my best friend Annie did all of our DIY items.  We had paper cones with petals and little signs hanging off the cones that said “when the newlyweds walk your way toss the petals and say hooray.” Instead of having a traditional guest book, we opted for mad lib cards. We had baby’s breath and greenery bunches down the aisle. She used an old rustic ladder and stacked photos of David and me on there. She used an antique industrial iron and well bucket to add to the feel of the venue. We also picked as one of our buffets a BBQ station. David and I love BBQ!

I didn’t want to use a lot of colors. I walked down the aisle with calla lilies and had all my bridesmaids walk down the aisle with roses. For the centerpieces, I wanted to do something different than the typical standing vases. I had our florist take our color palette and she created really simple and chic centerpieces with my vision in mind. She used long rectangular metal containers and filled them with flowers, moss balls, succulents, and curly willow twisted over the top. Next to the metal containers we had glass cylinder with ivory pillar candles.  Instead of having a traditional guest card table we used boxes with wheat grass to place the cards.

Choosing my gown was by far the hardest thing for me during the wedding process. I must have tried on close to 70 dresses and nothing felt right.  I was nearing the end of my visit at Kleinfeld’s with no luck in a dress, when I just happened to see one that caught my eye. I wanted a classic wedding dress with a little bit of an edge to it. When I tried it on, I had that bridal moment that everyone talks about.

Since we got married in July, we decided to offer wooden fans to our guests to use during the ceremony since we anticipated it could be hot outside. That doubled as our favor for the guests. David and I love sweets, so picking the cake was easy. We chose chocolate cake with a white buttercream. We had the baker use a whipped look for the cake; we wanted something simple and not overdone.

Our favorite part of the wedding was our introduction. The venue had these big, dramatic re-claimed wooden doors that opened at the top of a staircase overlooking the entire party. It was a great way to step into the reception as a married couple. My favorites were the touches of rustic/industrial décor dispersed throughout the venue, like the antique wood and metal drawers filled with romantic touches such as the baby’s breath, twinkle lights and pictures of David and me.

Fall Wythe Hotel Wedding with Hayley Paige Dress

Who said that jumping on the bed was for kiddos only? Because when you just marry the love of your life, it should be acceptable at any age. This bottled up kind of excitement captured by Rebecca Yale reminds me why I love logging on to this pretty place every day. And when that glee is followed up by a candlelit evening bursting with blooms from Blush Designs and splashed with burgundies and amber hues, well, that’s a good day. See more in THE VAULT!

From Rebecca Yale PhotographyAngela and Young were married on a beautiful Fall day in Williamsburg at the Wythe Hotel. The bride and groom both got ready with their friends and family at the hotel and then met downstairs for a very sweet first look followed by portraits around the hotel in Williamsburg. The day was extremely windy, which made for some fun photos with the bride’s beautiful ruffled Hayley Paige dress. The ceremony took place in the hotel’s courtyard under strings of twinkle lights followed by cocktail hour in the lower terrace. The groom, a fitness and nutrition coach, personalized their ceremony and surprised the guests when he had the officiant ask everyone to take a moment to stretch during the ceremony, which was a favorite moment, and one of my favorite photos of the day! After the ceremony the bride and groom went up to their suite to sign the marriage license and took a quick celebratory moment to jump on the bed, another of my favorite moments of the day! The reception took place inside the hotel and the room was transformed by Blush Designs into a lush and romantic fairy-tale space full of deep red tones with gold accents and hundreds of candles, perfect for an evening of dinner and dancing.

Intimate Backyard Fall Wedding

Just because your wedding is held at home doesn’t mean you have to slack on style. As this beautiful Bride can attest to, serious attention to your attire won’t go unappreciated. Her Nicole Miller gown was the chic combination of elegance and stunning, simple beauty, a perfect pairing for her fall wedding. Rima Brindamour captured the look and more – see all her snaps in our VAULT right this way!

From Rima Brindamour… Katie and Dan were married in Katie’s parent’s backyard in East Greenbush, New York. Katie’s dad helped build most of the decor including the chuppah, bar, and lounge seating. Every little detail was carefully picked to add meaning to the day and the minimal guest list (32!) made for a very intimate affair.

Elegant Alder Manor Wedding

Not only is Judy Pak taking over our Instagram account today, but she’s sharing this wedding best described by the bride as “old world vintage romance.” Set at the ever-charming Alder Manor, it strikes the perfect balance of moody romance, and features steal-worthy moments like the bride’s hair by Face Time Beauty and a three-tier confection from our friends at Sweet Grace. Peek in THE VAULT, and get your afternoon of inspiration started.

From The Bride… Philip and I met at the end of 2012, when I didn’t anticipate I’d meet the one any time soon. But as soon as I walked into one of my favorite neighborhood spots and saw him reading a book while waiting for me for our first date, I knew it was going to be the start of something special. One year later we were engaged and started the whirlwind of wedding planning.

I had grand visions of a destination wedding in Tuscany with intricate vines climbing up the walls of a private estate and secret gardens as our backdrop. Little did I know that we would be able to find the same mysterious beauty and grandeur right outside of New York City at Alder Manor. The mansion was transitioning to new ownership with renovations planned so we held our breath for months hoping we could secure the venue. We are so glad that it worked out, even before any renovations to its original early-twentieth century charm. With a venue like that, it was easy to find inspiration.

Since we had a year and a half engagement, I had enough time to slowly collect little beautiful trinkets as I came across them. I was inspired by the eclectic landscaping of the venue with its collection of Roman artifacts and sculptures and the ceremony area with columns modeled after a theatre in Athens. I realized everything I was drawn to fit an Old World vintage romance theme which perfectly accented the mansion. The whole process was really a labor of love with my sister hand-drawing and designing all of the paper goods from the invitations to the menus and Philip helping me to spray paint lanterns gold on the weekends and meticulously constructing our programs together on his days off.

However, all of the details really couldn’t replace the feeling that day as I walked down the aisle with all of the faces of our closest family and friends joyously watching and the unexpected emotion that Philip showed that day. We both are more practical than emotional and always joke about our robot hearts (it even made a cameo in our vows), but we really surprised ourselves with how much we were impacted by this moment. We were not just overwhelmed with joy by the deep commitment we were making to each other, but felt so grateful to our wonderful support system who will be with us through our lifelong journey!

Vintage Metropolitan Building Wedding

Vintage weddings and the Metropolitan Building go together like bow ties and lace. Velvety pink chairs for propping bouquets, distressed brick walls and darling mirrors for those veiled getting ready moments, just for starters. And this beauty, with Judy Pak behind the lens, highlights that charm at it’s best. Want more vintage lovers? Head to THE VAULT.

From the Bride and Groom… After a beautiful engagement in Central Park, we started our search for the perfect venue. At the time, our idea of the perfect wedding was on a vineyard out on the North Fork of Long Island. We viewed a dozen or so vineyards before returning back home to the city to make a final decision. Once a decision was finally made, we attempted to put down a deposit over the phone. Unfortunately, the venue would only accept a deposit in person.

Feeling a little deflated, we decided to take a peek at the local venues before heading back out to Long Island. It was love at first site when we walked into The Metropolitan Building in Long Island City. This one-time electrical factory, built in 1909 was so special and full of history. It’s weathered walls, exposed brick and antique furniture collected by the owner Eleanor Ambos gave way to a unique place to celebrate with friends and family, many who traveled from the West coast to have their first experience in New York.

The venue inspired the rest of the wedding. The flowers, dresses, and table settings were all meant to accentuate the elegant beauty of the space. A close friend performed our ceremony under a beautiful chandelier in front of friends and family. After, we filled the place with dancing and laughter. It was a night we will always remember.

Australian Couple’s Sunrise to Sunset Classic New York City Elopement

Some weddings seem just about the pretty—not this one. This gorgeous day is about the pretty (that bouquet from Designs By Ahn!) and the fabulous couple. The former high school sweethearts, who reconnected again 30 years later, eloped to New York City for an unforgettable wedding day adventure around the iconic city. And all the photos from Sarah Day-Boodhoo in THE VAULT guarantee these two can relive their special day for years to come.

From Sarah Day-Boodhoo PhotographyMy bride, Steph reached out to me from Australia with a very specific dream of eloping with her finance in NYC. Perusing photo’s of NYC, the light at dawn struck her as dreamy – and she wanted to have a part of that for their day. In getting to know her and Brad better and helping bring their wedding day together, we decided to make a full sunrise to sunset day together (with a mid-day siesta for recharging!).

What entailed was nothing short of magical. Heading into Central Park with Bow Bridge as our sunrise destination, we encountered Bethesda Fountain and Terrace, the Boathouse and Pond as well as Bow Bridge – all empty. Other than a few random joggers, we had Central Park all to ourselves. We then meandered to Top of the Rock with Grand Central as a quick stopping point. The staff at Top of the Rock ushered us to the express elevator where the entire mezzanine staff greeted us at the top – full of cheers and well-wishes. Once on the top, there were so few others, we felt that we had the run of the deck and were then greeted by a Praying Mantis – which none of us will ever forget!

City Hall was next on our trek with a few street photo’s along the way. Without so much as a line at City Hall, we were able to sit and relax just long enough until it was our turn. Their ceremony was full, joyous and pure loveliness.

We all took a little break and met back up under the Brooklyn Bridge in the afternoon. With dinner reservations at The River Cafe – a must visit restaurant with the best view in town – we had just enough time to catch some riverfront moments and sunset before they sat and enjoyed the remainder of their day.

New York City seemed to be conspiring for these two to have the most beautiful day. But it wasn’t all just about their day in NYC. You see, Steph and Brad were high-school sweethearts who reconnected later again in life.

This day will forever stand out in my memory, as Brad, Steph and I have developed a lovely friendship I’m confident will sustain our distance. While I’ve been pulling together their gallery – I swear I can see the butterflies they still give each other.

From the Bride… Brad and I were sweethearts at high school when we were 16 years old. We parted ways after school and lived very full and separate lives. We reconnected by sheer fate three years ago. Brad was perusing the internet for vintage goods for a marketing campaign he was launching for his company. While perusing the Vintage Goddess website, he realized he recognized the owner, and immediately recognized Steph’s photo on the About Me page. After a few emails, the rendezvous was set and the rest is history in the making. Starting at the tender age of 46, we fell in love all over again the split second we saw each other. Brad asks me every day if I will marry him and our wedding in September is all about us. I’ve lived in London and we’ve both traveled all over the world and when he asked me where I wanted to get married I knew exactly where we had to go… the city on the very top of my “bucket list.”

Tuscan-Inspired NYC Summer Wedding

Every bit of this beautiful bash was the most wonderful reminder of why I adore weddings. They just got it “right,” ya know what I mean? With Katie Fischer starting off the style with these invites and Chandelier Events leading the charge with all plans, the finished results are nothing short of perfect. Lindsay Madden captured it all, from Rebecca Shepherd’s florals and Hatch Prop Shop’s pretty pieces, to the elegant bridesmaids, a magical cake and more – see it all in our VAULT right this way!

From The Bride…When it came time to plan our wedding, Sam and I found that the most difficult piece of the puzzle was picking the right venue. Finding a space that could host all 280 people on our guest list while maintaining the charming, romantic feel that we were looking for was no easy feat. Just when we were thinking that maybe such a place didn’t exist, we found The Liberty Warehouse, located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The second we stepped into this venue space, we knew that it was where we wanted to get married. It was a perfect fit for us in all respects, but the views of the Statue of Liberty, Verrazano Bridge and the Manhattan skyline, really took our breaths away. Within that Manhattan skyline view was some great scenery from the Financial District, the neighborhood that I have called home for nearly a decade. We loved that The Liberty Warehouse had a nautical yet vibrant urban feel of New York City.

I work as a personal chef, so it was important to both of us that our venue provided top-notch eats, and the kitchen staff at The Liberty Warehouse did not disappoint. I made a point of being very present and in the moment on my wedding day; most brides tell me that they don’t even remember their own special day or even get a chance to eat all of the delicious menu items that they spent months selecting! I made it my business to eat everything I could at my cocktail hour, which was my version of heaven on Earth. I still have guests calling me regularly to tell me how great the food was at our wedding, including the multi-flavored cake from Momofuku.

Our wedding was large, but it still felt very romantic and intimate. Olive branches were in place of tall floral arrangements and our tables were lined with olive oil and rosemary focaccia where the menus were printed on the bread sleeves. I felt that my wedding brought “Tuscany meets New York City” to life, thanks to my wedding planner Amy Shey Jacobs of Chandelier Events and florist Rebecca Shepherd of Rebecca Shepherd Floral Design. As a chef, I’ve spent plenty of time thinking through event logistics, but for this event, I wanted to be able to just relax and I was fortunate to have an incredible wedding planner that I could rely on to take care of everything. I was able to enjoy getting ready with my family and oldest friends until the ceremony and then party the night away with my new HUSBAND.

We wanted to make this wedding feel truly personal. We wrote our own vows and we were married by both a rabbi and a priest. My dad and I sang a first song together as a duet instead of the traditional father-daughter dance. I surprised Sam by singing him two of our favorite love songs in front of all of our guests. The day was absolutely perfect and really showcased us not only as a couple, but the love and warmth that our families and friends have for us was truly present as well.

E-sesh Math: take 1 seriously in love couple + the ultimate NYC skyline = an unbeatable e-sesh from the lens of Still55 Photography. From their picturesque portraits to a seriously sweet stroll, every moment is the type of storybook detail we will forever dream about. I’m calling it like I see it, this lil’ number is Big City means big time love and we’ve got it all waiting in THE VAULT!

From Still55 PhotographyCaiti and Jack have called New York home for the past several years. They will be getting married next summer in Virginia Beach but desperately wanted to capture the city they love this Fall. “I want to incorporate the elegance of New York’s architecture in an understated way”, said Caiti. She made clear that she wanted a beautiful blend of modern elegance to make their way through the images. With that in mind we decided to start the session in Dumbo where Jack proposed. This introduced the city they love so much. From that point, we photographed the two walking the cobblestone streets in Tribeca and enjoying 360 degree views of the city from their private roof top terrace. We ended our time in the oh so beautiful central park just in time for fall.

Caiti wore a printed high low Sachin + Babi skirt with a black TY-LR top and nude BCBG pumps. Jack wore a Brooks Brothers suit with a Charles Tyrwhitt dress shirt and Allen Edmonds wingtips. For a more casual look in Central Park, Caiti wore J Brand Jeans with a white Cloth & Stone button down and suede pumps by Ivanka Trump. Jack wore Banana Republic chinos and a J.Crew plaid button down with suede shoes from Calvin Klein.

Traditional + Elegant New York City Central Park Boathouse Wedding

For a wedding that’s as romantic as it is stylish, take cue from this cityscape soiree. From one truly unforgettable Central Park celebration, to the Bride’s bouquet adorned with family heirlooms, Jillian Modern Photography snapped every bedazzling moment in a gallery we’re going gaga for. It’s timeless meets iconic, and it’s all waiting in THE VAULT!

From Jillian Modern PhotographyThis bride is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with!

From The Bride…In March of 2007, during our sophomore year at George Washington University, Daniel and I ventured independently to 51st State Tavern in Washington, DC. It was a typical Tuesday night in Foggy Bottom, and little did we know, when we sat down at the same table, our lives would change forever.

New York City was where our real lives began. We became serious in the summer of 2007 when Daniel and I had our first college internships. He, at one of the top financial banks, and myself at a leading fashion brand. Our first dates and gatherings always took place in this magical city. For Dan’s first birthday celebrated together, I surprised him with his favorite bottle of wine and pizza and a horse and carriage ride around Central Park. It is a city of wonderful memories and marvelous firsts, so it only made sense to marry in our city.

Nature is where we both feel most comfortable. Dan is an avid golfer, always outside on the grass! I’m a swimmer and and we are both cyclists and skiers so Central Park is somewhere where we both find balance in the city! We definitely wanted nature to play a role in our wedding day experience and The Central Park Boathouse is a very visual natural space and that was the connection we felt immediately.

Our wedding began and ended with New York City touches. The save-the-dates were vintage New York City postcards illustrating Central Park and the famous New York City skyline; and our wedding reception concluded with a quintessential Central Park pretzel stand.

I am a lover of tradition. Whether it be family or religious, I love the idea of generations past celebrating in the same way. Our sunset Ketubah signing on the Central Park Boathouse deck overlooking Bethesda Fountain and The Lake surrounded by family and loved ones was a “pinch-me” moment. Next, I walked down the aisle towards my best-friend Daniel, carrying a my bouquet of white garden roses and seeded eucalyptus berries with the buttons from my grandmother’s honeymoon sweater and my great grandmother’s brooch pinned to the stem ribbon. Last, was the beautiful chuppah, under which I vowed my love to Daniel.
