New York City Hotel Wedding from Christian Oth Studio

Love and glamour are literally filling every nook and cranny of this New York City affair. And the perfect images from Sue Kessler of Christian Oth Studio only add to the beauty of a husband and wife celebrating their love in the Big City and carving out some time for a few classic photo ops around Columbus Circle. The cityscape along with blooms from Renny & Reed and gorgeous details crafted by Classic Events added the perfect touch to this glamorous black tie affair. The result is nothing short of magical and you can see every last crazy good piece of it over in the full gallery,

From Danielle Elder of Classic EventsOn what Sam thought would be an ordinary vacation to Puerto Rico, she met the man of her dreams. She was just enjoying her vacation, sitting at the bar when Jake approached her. It was like they knew each other their whole lives. They talked the night away under the stars. The vacation then came to an end; she went back to being a typical New Yorker and he returned to his military career. A week later he came to New York City and from that day forward the couple knew they couldn’t stay away from each other. So after making a long distance relationship work for months, Jake joined Sam in New York City. They then returned to Puerto Rico this time as a couple and on March 20, 2011 he proposed and she gladly said yes.

Sam and Jake’s wedding day was to be a complete reflection of them both as individuals and as a couple. She wanted classic New York City flare to marry her fiancé’s deep Oklahoma roots. So she chose the Mandarin Hotel with its amazing view of New York City to be their backdrop and we left it up to Renny and Reed to create a whimsical forest in the middle of Manhattan. They did an amazing job of bringing nature indoors with a chuppah made completely out of branches and flowers, topped off with centerpieces that resembled miniature trees. The room was warm and inviting. During dinner guests were surprised in classic New York City fashion as acrobats and dancers performed a floor show. And of course everyone was sent home with a sweet treat. A NYC taxi cookie paired with southern truffles by Cake Alchemy. Just like the couple, the parting gift was the combination of two worlds merged into one.

New York City Engagement Session from Trent Bailey Photography

Reason number 9,325,637 why I love New York City?  It makes one heck of a backdrop for engagement sessions.  Case in point?  This beautiful shoot captured by none other than the fabulous Trent Bailey, which features both an adorable (+ stylish) duo and image after image of the city they love (and where they fell in love!), NYC.  Take a gander at every magical moment in the full gallery.  It’s amazing.

From the Bride… Mike and I fell in love in New York City. As the seasons of the city progressed, so did our love for each other. We grew to adore both the well known and lesser known parts of New York, as we explored Manhattan together. In the summer, we escaped to the High Line for evenings walks and to capture a bit of peace in the city. In the fall, Mike cajoled me on, as I spent weekends in Central Park, training for the NYC marathon. He would always keep a smile on my face, as he tried to rollerblade, bike and run with me, so that I wouldn’t be lonely in my training. In the winter, we explored the city’s farmer’s markets and sipped cider. The following spring, Mike got down on one knee, near a cluster of Cherry Blossom Trees in Central Park, and asked me to marry him. I was completely shocked, surprised and overjoyed.

As we began to plan our engagement shoot, we wanted to capture the areas that were, in our eyes, the essence of NYC. We wanted to include our favorite spots, where we shared some of our first dates and fondest memories – especially on the High Line in Chelsea and in Central Park.

Our photographer, Trent, was such an inspiration to work with and so patient! Our session was rescheduled a few times, due to rain. However, the third time was the charm and he perfectly captured our special moments on our finally sunny day!

Manhattan Wedding from Olya Vysotskaya Photography

This wedding is so perfectly New York City. It’s everything I love about that those bustling boroughs all wrapped up in one stylish post. It’s a gorgeous Wtoo gown from Lovely Bridal Shop meets the gritty downtown streets. It’s the celebration of two stylish Brides and their obvious love for each other with the Big Apple proudly serving as the background. The scene is perfectly set for all this Manhattan magic to unfold at The Bowery Hotel and Housing Works Bookstore Café, and thanks to Olya Vysotskaya Photography we can see it all right here.

From the Bride… Manhattan is not only my hometown, it’s also the place we met and fell in love. (New York was also one of a handful of states where we could get married legally!) We knew as soon as we set foot in Housing Works Bookstore Cafe in SoHo that we wanted to be married there. It’s located in a gorgeous New York townhouse on a classic cobblestone street. The bookstore space was everything we wanted: intimate, romantic, and, best of all, filled with books. Robyn proposed at the Brooklyn Public Library, so it seemed fitting that we hold our wedding in a bookstore! We continued the book motif with our escort cards, which were printed on vintage library cards and displayed in real card catalog drawers. Many of our guests actually took them home. Once we chose the venue, all of the other details seemed to choose us, especially my blush tulle dress and our lovely photographer, who shoots real film and has a collection of vintage cameras. We kept the décor simple because we didn’t want to compete with the colorful book displays that first drew us to the space. We used silver grosgrain ribbon to make inexpensive table runners and deep purple napkins to add a pop of color. String lights and votive candles brought out the warmth of the rich wood paneling. We chose the Bowery Hotel, on Manhattan’s still-gritty Lower East Side, for our first look and wedding night. As we walked from the hotel to Housing Works, we received many well wishes from tourists and panhandlers along the street. Only in New York!

NYC Wedding at Cipriani from Ira Lippke Studios

When ultra chic and super glamorous meet in Manhattan they make pure wedding magic. Now add romance, sophistication, a Sylvia Weinstock cake, AND a signed pair of Louboutin sparklies (be still my heart) to the party and we’re officially under the spell of this NYC soirée. Fortunately enough for all of us, every moment, every drool-worthy detailed, every gorgeous blossom is captured to absolute perfection by Ira Lippke Studios. Now, you officially have permission to get lost in the absolute elegance of this Big Apple bash right here in the gallery.

From the Bride…. Paul and I met in April 2008. I was beginning a new job and excited to start my career, never thinking it would lead me to my future husband. After much time spent together at work and at social functions, we found it impossible to stay away from each other. Four years later, on my family’s annual trip to Maui, we took a walk to one of our favorite spots overlooking the ocean and after an emotional, special and memorable talk, he got down on one knee and proposed!

We knew we wanted to get married in the fall, so I began planning right away and started sharing our experience on my blog, Leather & Leops. We wanted a New York City wedding and on September 22, 2012 we were married at the beautiful Cipriani 42nd St. Prior to the ceremony, Paul and I took pictures along the streets of New York and in Grand Central Station. Our first time seeing each other was at Grand Central. I stood in the middle of the station, surrounded by tons of strangers watching me and when Paul walked in it was like there was no one else around us. It was a moment I will never forget. Our ceremony was held at Cipriani and was very short and simple but emotional and special. We had a 5 piece instrumental band that played songs of our choice to accompany the bridal party . We choose neutral tones, whites, greys and silver for our colors with mirrored accents and lighting. The first time we walked into the room, we were blown away, it was truly a remarkable sight. From the tenting of the room, to the tall orchids, mirrored runners and surrounding candle light, our vision really came to life.

Our reception was a party from the moment it began. We had a fifteen-person band and they had the whole room dancing, we even ended up on the stage at one point! Our first dance was to Bruce Springsteen’s rendition of “Jersey Girl” and we found it only fitting to have two guitarists play our favorite Springsteen tracks during the food courses. We had a white backdrop and a photographer doing photo shoots with fun accessories which was a hit with the guests. Our cake was decorated to match the beading detail of my wedding dress and the speeches from my dad and maid of honor and best man were truly touching. I ended the night with an outfit change into my “dancing dress” and Paul and I danced the night away into the early hours with all of our closest family and friends. It was truly a night that we will never forget.

New York Fashion Shoot from Trent Bailey Photography

The snow is billowing outside my window, and the kettle’s whistle has finally settled me at my desk with a calming cup of green tea. And then, I saw this fashion shoot from Trent Bailey and Jackie Weppner of Merci New York. If ever we needed a reminder that spring’s blooms will surely be here soon, it is a day like today. This fashion story can only be described as a romantic cherry blossom breeze, and it features a Jenny Packham gown with a Preston & Olivia headpiece that is stop-in-your-tracks angelic. Find more of these breathtaking images over in the gallery or head to SMP New York for the accompanying engagement session crafted by this all star team.

From the Trent Bailey PhotographyOn a recent visit to Gabriella New York I spotted the GORGEOUS Astrid gown from Jenny Packham and thought it was so incredible. Later that day as I went for a run in Central Park, I was inspired by all of the blooms that were making their way out of a long winters nap. Spring was here and instantly I knew I had to photograph this ethereal romantic gown under the blossoms in the park. Combining Jenny Packham’s Astrid with a men’s look that was just right proved to be difficult. I called my friends at Billy Reid and of course they had the perfect suit for the shoot. I share the same Louisiana hometown with Billy, and his clothes remind me of my roots, with such a relaxed feel. Pairing Billy Reid’s southern gentleman charm with Jenny Packham’s organic ethereal look was a wonderful match for a spring day in Central Park.

We were blessed with gorgeous light, and a location that provided a serene escape from the busy Manhattan pace. At one point the wind picked up and the cherry blossoms began to rain from the branches of the tree, as the couple embraced and laughed. It was a moment I will never forget and I am so grateful to have captured it on film.

From Merci New York… For this shoot, we had access to some really beautiful fashion pieces. Trent and I went to the Billy Reid showroom together, and our jaws dropped when we saw this cream dinner jacket from Billy’s recent runway show. Funny as it may seem, my male clients always seem to have this “should I or shouldn’t I” complex about wearing a dinner jacket. They love the 007 vibe, but wonder if it’s “too much” for their weddings. (It’s not!)

In this shoot, I think we really showed how a cream dinner jacket can be totally appropriate, especially when the bride is dressed in soft romantic and elegant pieces, such as this Jenny Packham dress and ethereal Preston and Olivia headpiece… What’s old is new and somehow really refreshingly chic (especially with those falling cherry blossom leaves – l.o.v.e.) It was such a pleasure to style all the fabulous eye candy in this shoot!

Engagement Photo Shoot from Trent Bailey Photography

Shoot are made to inspire. To make your head twirl with ideas of how to incorporate the pretty in your life. Well lovelies, we have two shoots coming up today that are nothing short of spectacular from the style genius that is Jackie of Merci New York and one of my favorite photographers, Trent Bailey. The first shoot is sitting pretty below right here on SMP New York, and it’s image after image of stop in your tracks style. I basically want that entire outfit, and if I could, I would dress my Mister up in such a dapper get up and stroll around the streets of New York just being fabulous today. Since I can’t technically do that today – I’ll live vicariously through this gallery. And there’s more from this talented team coming your way – don’t forget to check out the wedding shoot coming up on the main page ever so shortly!

From Jackie of Merci New York As always, it was a blast to work with Trent on styling engagement shoots. Between pulling some great fashion pieces, working with terrific models and really playing up the chic city backdrop, I was a stylist in heaven! Whenever Trent and I work on an engagement session together, we tend to have a really cohesive vision of what our clients want, but we see the shoot through two very different viewpoints. While Trent works his magic on lighting, form, locations and chemistry of the subjects, my focus as a stylist is on every crease, seam and detail of the wardrobe and the overall aesthetic of the shoot. It’s a pretty fabulous experience for the client because they feel like their bases are completely covered, creatively.  It’s like they stepped into a professional editorial campaign!

I always love to style with juxtaposition, so this shoot was about taking the southern gentleman feel on him, contrasting it with a very edgy city-chic vibe on her, and somehow making it all work with coordinating color and contrasting accessories. If you are acting as your own stylist for your engagement session, do a little juxtaposing on your own: pair a feminine dress with edgy heels, or have your guy (subtly) push the envelope with small accent accessories such as a pocket square or colorful shirt. Small details make a big difference in photos — they really can help complete the look and make it look professionally styled.

Chelsea Wedding + Film from Bayly & Moore

Bayly & Moore is giving us goodness in two forms today – their amazing images of this Chelsea celebration and a film of all the fabulous that went down as well. So we have a lot to thank them for this Monday morning. Because giving us the pleasure to get knee deep in all the pretty of this city soiree is awfully nice of them, and it’s all waiting for you right here.

From the Bride… Marcin and I had been dating for four years before he proposed, and we waited about two years before eventually tying the knot. Despite the long engagement, planning our wedding was no easy task! There was so much to think about. I was lucky, however, because a handful of close friends were also getting married in the summer of 2012, providing me with a reserve of great sounding boards. Plus, my parents are amazing — I think they must have been event planners in former lives. All in all, our wedding was the most incredible day for us, our families and our friends. Not even the 92 degree temperature could bring us down. It was absolutely perfect!

My style is somewhat quirky and whimsical, while Marcin’s taste is more modern, but we both love the urban aesthetic of NYC. We wanted the decor of our wedding to capture all of these elements while still looking beautifully sophisticated. Our florist, Robert at Diana Gould, was a true artist and executed our vision flawlessly. He was so creative and easy to work with. We chose our venue, The Lighthouse, pretty much on the spot. It was the perfect blend of industrial New York and picturesque beauty, right on the water with views of the Statue of Liberty. Working with Paul (our event manager) and his team was the absolute best. We actually were not stressing before our big day (a shocking but welcome change!) because we felt that we were in such good hands. Actually, everyone we worked with was truly amazing, from makeup (Kally is a genius) and hair (I found Laureen on SMP — thank you!) to our band (Bobby Attiko) who had everyone dancing for five hours straight.

This day was truly special for us because there were so many people who came together to make it possible. We had friends and family in from around the globe to celebrate with us. My parents and I designed and hand-cut every piece of stationery used on our wedding day. My dad and sister even drew the NY skyline motif that we used on all of our escort cards. Our day flew by, as many former brides had warned me it would. But luckily we have our amazing wedding photos and stop-motion video (courtesy of the insanely talented duo Bayly & Moore) which capture every event and emotion in the most artistic and beautiful way. Thanks to everyone who made this day a success — it was truly one of the most amazing days in our lives!

NYC Studio 450 Wedding from Carmen Santorelli Photography

Any wedding that involves wine and cheesecake is alright by me. Wine, cheese, love and beautiful photographs by Carmen Santorelli is NOT a bad day at work. And this beauty is a shining example of a layered approach. From a veil worn by generations passed paired with a beautiful Lazaro gown to Mimosa Floral Design Studio transforming the gorgeous blank space that is Studio 450 into a vineyard loft with beautiful city views. It’s all about the layers of details and seemingly opposite elements working hand in hand to bring a modern city vibe to a traditional vineyard wedding. And we can’t get enough of it. If you missed it see it here in Part I and of course, even more from the day in the full gallery.

From the Bride… One of the first pieces of advice that my mother gave us when we started planning the wedding was that our choices would be the first decisions we made together as a couple, so we wanted our relationship and our love of family to shine through in every element of the event. I chose the veil worn by my grandmother and mother – made from Belgian lace purchased by my great-great-grandmother in the early 1900s. Though I decided not to wear the dress worn by three generations of women before me, we used material from the gown for Nate’s tie and pocket square, and wrapped it around my bouquet along with a picture of me with my father. The small diamond earrings I wore were from an anniversary ring of Nate’s grandmother, and the bridesmaids’ earrings were all made by my mom, who is a jewelry designer.

For the décor, we kept it simple at the church because we wanted to let its natural beauty shine. At the reception, we aimed for a vineyard-meets-city vibe. We featured vintage wine and cheese boxes on the escort card and dessert tables, and collected wine bottles and cork-filled glasses for the windowsills. My mom hand-painted the bar menu and other signs, and we used New York postcards from antique stores and local shops as the guestbook. The flowers matched the red-wine color of the bridesmaids’ dresses – and also reflected our passion for food, with touches of artichokes and berries in the arrangements. The menu put a modern twist on rustic Italian flavors, culminating with a combination dessert and cheese table. We couldn’t resist incorporating our love for wine and cheese nights, so our “cake” was a two-tiered goat cheese and triple-cream creation!

We’re incredibly grateful for photographer Carmen Santorelli, floral designer Lillian Wright, day-of coordinator Katie Berger, and caterers Ryan Corvaia and Bonnie Evans, who partnered with us to create a more magical day than we could have imagined.

Snow White Winter Wedding Inspiration from Private Receptions + Ron Soliman Photojournalism

Today felt like the perfect day to get our princess on. Snow White, to be more specific. In a gorgeous shoot from Ron Soliman Photojournalism, Private Receptions created a fantasy world fit for Snow White, packed with inspiration (all dreamt up by the uber talented Private Receptions) for a gorgeous red and white winter soiree for us all. And can we just spend a moment on the two GORG gowns from Gabriella Bridal Salon New York? Dying. Grab an apple, make sure it’s safe, and meet me in the gallery for even more!

Click here to see the full image gallery!

From Gabriella New York Bridal Salon … Lauren from Private Receptions came up with the idea of a Snow White inspired shoot in the heat of the summer. She decided to use the theme as a muse because of its recent TV popularity and because it is a perfect starting point for the winter season. Instead of just working with the fairytale inspiration however, Lauren chose to infuse the wedding design with a modern New York vibe. Lauren and her team kept the color scheme simple with a deep candy apple red, pure white and touches of silver and mercury glass inspired by the Queen’s mirror.

The venue, Top of the Garden, a great modern loft space in the middle of New York City with amazing views, was perfect. Lauren decided to really glam it up in a contemporary fashion: lots of candle light, mercury glass votives and a towering centerpiece, inspired by the Queen’s castle. A second centerpiece with more touches of greenery was used, with the mild mannered Snow White as a muse. A mirror and an apple also played an important role.

The incredibly talented florist Bridget of Violet and Verde used deep crimson roses, zinnias and calla lillies for the more tailored looks, and played with white thistle in the low centerpieces as a prickly accent – juxtaposing two distinct styles reminiscent of Snow White and the Queen. Lauren drew additional inspiration from the fairy tale and composed the escort card presentation with a bare manzanella branch with moss at the bottom, evocative of the Queen’s knarled hands when she appears to Snow White as the beggar woman – a stark contrast to Snow White’s warm welcoming nature.

Gabriella New York Bridal Salon provided the two stunning gowns, Tejani generously donated the Fine Jewelry pieces. A brand new jewelry line “possibility”, designed by Astrid Mueller also complimented the bride’s look with a few winter-inspired Lucite jewelry pieces. Lucite has been spotted repeatedly in the Spring Summer 2013 runway shows, and Lauren decided to incorporate it as more of a contemporary accent. Carla of CLM Makeup brought it all perfectly together by beautifying the bride with an elegant makeup and several festive hairstyle combinations. Carla really nailed it; the bride was breathtaking in this Snow White inspired look!

Stationery was illustrated and designed by the talented Astrid Mueller, and printed by New York stationery and print boutique printicon. Lauren and Astrid wanted to keep things simple but with an understated glamour. The invites and escort cards were printed in a very clean-chic white on white foil embossed snowflake pattern, complimented by matching laser-cut candle wraps, also generously produced by printicon. Astrid specializes in sophisticated wedding illustrations, and the rehearsal dinner invite with her illustration of a Snow White-esque bride and groom was the perfect match for the team’s vision of this winter wedding inspiration shoot. Astrid also created the engraved Lucite snowflake cocktail stirrers and matching candy apple embellishments (which can also be used as hors d’oeuvre sticks).

Ron Soliman and his assistant Edwin Ocha were the photographic master minds behind the shoot. Lauren had worked with Ron in the past and knew that his photojournalistic and glamorous style would be the perfect fit. Needless to say, the results are stunning. Doesn’t it just want to make you play in the snow?

NYC Indoor Garden Wedding from Angelica Glass

I may be able to create image boards in my sleep at this point but for this wedding, the images literally took me hours. Each and every photograph by Angelica Glass is so gorgeous, so layered I wanted to publish them all. Just a whole line-up of ninety nine crazy beautiful photos. Which I thought about. But then what would be the fun of the gallery? There you will find New York loft meets an English Garden sparkling under the prettiest chandeliers. Ohhh it’s a good one.

From the Bride… We were in search of a garden setting for our wedding in the NYC area and after exploring many options, we set our eyes upon a blank white loft space called Location 05. We saw the white space as an opportunity that allowed us to design our wedding from scratch and infuse a garden theme in a weather proof setting! We had so much fun bringing in our own hedges and heritage birch trees to fill the space. Grass was used for our aisle and dance floor. We wanted to maintain the clean, white look of the space so we included a white lounge area and we brightened it up by including crystal chandeliers and hanging antique lanterns over the dance floor. The entrance of the wedding was a nondescript warehouse in the middle of Manhattan. You can imagine our guests were really shocked and pleased to see a garden wedding inside a random building. We had a banquet table as the focal point of the room, with decorative pink floral chargers, an abundance of beautiful bouquets of flowers, pink hued water goblets, and crystal chandeliers hanging above. My husband and I designed the invitations, RSVPS, table cards, wedding programs, and menus to create a cohesive floral theme.

From the Bride… Giles and I met just a few months after we both arrived in New York City. It didn’t take long for us to realize that we had met our better halves, and after one short year, we were engaged. We knew from the beginning that we wanted a big New York wedding. We both love this city and couldn’t think of a better fit for our big day. Since I am from Venezuela and Giles is from Barbados, it was also a great way to share a piece of our lives with our friends and family and celebrate with them in the city where it all began.

We looked at a few venues and eventually found the perfect place. It was beautiful and large enough to fit our growing guest list, but it still had a classic New York City feel to it. I had very specific ideas in mind of what I wanted for our big day. Lucky for me, Giles and I have very similar tastes, so we agreed on the ideas. With the help of Tom from Ariston Florists, we went for an elegant mostly white color scheme with blue and gray undertones. My main focus was on the entrance. I wanted there to be a certain “wow factor” when guests arrived. Tom helped me in designing a tree full of hanging white orchids, along with blue and white color-blocked floral arrangements on the escort table. It was gorgeous and still allowed the beauty of the venue to speak for itself.

Other than a beautiful venue, our top priority in planning our wedding was for our guests to have a great time. We wanted great food, fun music and a packed dance floor. In the end, it was all in the details. We decided to get a self-portrait studio where guests could take pictures of themselves. It ended up being one of the highlights of the night! We also provided Soludos espadrilles so that ladies could change their shoes and dance comfortably. As soon as we brought them out, every woman in the room ran to change their shoes and continue dancing, including me! Last, but certainly not least, we had the best wedding band we could have dreamed of. They kept the night going and the dance floor full until the very end. It truly ended up being the perfect day for Giles and me, and our guests had a wonderful time.

From Brklyn View PhotographyGingham, cute cafés and gorgeous light make this one of my favorite new york city engagement sessions. Vy and Mike wanted their engagement session to be fun, fresh and editorial. We started in the happy couple’s home before visiting a few of their favorite restaurants and cafés in West Village. We had coffee at Café Minerva, laughed in front of Joseph Leonard and enjoyed a seat in front of Jeffrey’s Grocery before the sun set for the evening. Seriously, the September sun is just absolutely gorgeous, and I couldn’t resist having the couple completely drenched in dreamy light as we walked to each location. So dreamy!

Modern NYC Wedding Reception from Jacob Arthur Photography

New York will forever be one of my favorites. It has this uncanny way of hosting everything from a full on contemporary affair to beautifully vintage without skipping a beat. This particular wedding reception is modern through and through; a celebration of the marriage of two graphic designers who wed in Seoul and later celebrated with friends and family at TriBeCa eatery, JUNGSIK. And with the imagery from Jacob Arthur Photography and even more in the full gallery, there is plenty to adore. Get ready for NYC, Vera Wang and Yves Saint Laurent all mashed up into one elegant party.

From the Bride… We met four years ago at RISD, where we were both pursuing our passions in Graphic Design, Hoon in the grad program and Erica in undergrad. We both moved to NYC after graduation, and saw our lives together blossoming in this city of culture and life.

We wanted an intimate affair with our closest friends and family, since we were having our wedding ceremony a week after in our home city of Seoul. Our wedding reception was held at JUNGSIK in TriBeCa. It is a New Korean fine-dining restaurant which was perfect because Hoon actually did the branding for the restaurant when it opened. We even branded our own wedding, naming it Erica Meets Me and designed our invitations and stationery based on it. For the color theme, we chose whites, ivories, and grays to portray a clean, modern, and chic affair. Little touches made the night really special, such as the signature cocktail being the “Yugin” (was an existing drink at the restaurant because one of the ingredients is gin), but was also a play on my name Yujin. We also had a card and pen presented in front of each guest so they could each write us a note, which we would then make into our own guestbook.

We were so happy because we feel our wedding really captured who we are as people, as well as who we are together as a couple. Because the event was so intimate, all the people most special to us were able to get to know each other and enjoy each other’s company, which meant the world to us. This was truly one day that we will never forget.

From Lindsay Madden PhotographyNew York City is a really special place to have a wedding as it’s filled with so much culture, excitement and attitude. Matti and Andy opted to celebrate their special day at the NYC landmark Le Cirque, right in the heart of midtown. Le Cirque has been around for decades and frequently welcomes some of the world’s most famous faces. Matti and Andy’s ceremony took place in the Central Park Conservatory Garden in front of 30 of their closest family members and friends. It was intimate and special. Many of their guests were from out of town, and what better way to transport them from the hotel to the ceremony than via a big, red NYC tour bus?! The guests loved it, and it was the perfect addition to their wedding. I genuinely love Central Park and truly enjoy holding portraits among the beautiful green backdrop. Matti and Andy decided to invite along their adorable black lab, Olive, for some of the portraits. After all, this cutie is the center of their world. The reception was an elegant, sit-down dinner. In Bloom decorated the space with simple white flowers and candles. The atmosphere was warm, and everyone enjoyed the food. Matti looked stunning in her dress, and Andy looked handsome in his suit. It was NYC elegance all the way! The two of them smiled and laughed throughout the entire day, and I was lucky enough to capture their classic wedding!

Greenwich Village Engagement Session from Judy Pak Photography

Judy Pak knows a thing or two about snapping a pretty picture.  And that’s a fact.  Because the images she captures are always, always breathtaking – and have been the cause of quite a few happy dances here at SMP headquarters.  Needless to say, when she sent along this gorgeous Greenwich Village e-session, we knew we were in for a love-filled treat.  And the adorable couple, perfect city backdrop and gallery of beautiful images was just what we thought it would be.  Amazing.  Click here for more.

From Judy Pak PhotographyJeesun is a NYU professor and Thomas is an architect. They are quite the charming couple with an arsenal of amusing anecdotes — definitely the type of couple who gets invited to all the dinner parties. For their engagement session, we started around NYU, where much of their courtship took place, and ended at Central Park.

Jeesun and Thomas are a product of an interesting set-up — Thomas had no clue, and Jeesun was initially resistant to the idea. Jeesun’s friend had invited Thomas to be at her husband’s birthday, and Jeesun almost didn’t show up. That night, Thomas arrived late at the dinner and there were two chairs open – one happened to be next to Jeesun. Luckily, Thomas made the right choice and sat down next to the lovely lady he would eventually ask to be his wife. Although they are from two completely different cultures, these two are really from the same place.

NYC Wedding at Tribeca Rooftop from J’adore Love

So many personal touches went into this visually gorgeous and traditional Indian ceremony, we’re not even sure where to begin. Do we start with the unbelievable jasmine garlands that were made to greet all the ladies at the wedding? Or the 1,001 gold cranes that were folded and placed throughout the ceremony and reception? Not to mention the brides stunning dress and henna. There’s not one, but two spectacular weddings to dive into here and lucky for us, J’adore Love was on hand for both. See all the details right here in the full gallery.

From Milestone Events by KristyFrank Alexander did all the flowers and table design as well as American ceremony design. All the Indian decor and ceremony was from Abhishek Decorators. The color was actually stemmed from the bride’s favorite dress. She was looking for an elegant palette of gold and ivory but wanted a pop of color that matched a watermelon-colored dress in her closet. It was always funny when talking about the color because we went back and forth on what the actual color would be when trying to match the dress since it wasn’t actually red or orange or fuchsia. What was most important in the color was embodying summer. Since the bride is both Indian and Japanese, some personal touches were the jasmine garlands we had made to greet all the ladies to the Indian ceremony as well as 1,001 homemade gold cranes. The cranes were placed throughout the venue as well as each place setting. I also loved the escort card tree that Frank Alexander made for guests to be wowed by when finding their escort card.

From the Bride… Rakhesh was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. Rana was born in Arizona and grew up in southern California. Though we both were raised on opposite coasts, somehow fate had us run into each other. We met at the hospital where Rakhesh was in his last year of the general surgery program and I was beginning my first year in emergency medicine; I was rotating through general surgery in the begining of my intern year. It was evident early on that our relationship was headed towards a long future, and neither of us can imagine not having the other nearby. Rakhesh waited until my parents had flown into town before he proposed in the middle of Columbus Circle NY, a favorite hangout for the two of us and where many of our first dates took place. Currently, I am approaching the end of my second year of my emergency medicine residency, and Rakhesh is nearing the end of his first year in his plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship. Which coast we eventually will end up calling home is still in question, but as long as we are together, that’s home for us.

NYC Wedding from Wren & Field Photography

One of many things I love about New York City are the little hidden gems tucked away from the hustle + bustle. The oasis-like spots that transport you to to a place far away from the Big Apple, while still having the City at your fingertips.  These grooms fell in love with the relaxed vibe at Fort Tryon Park and New Leaf Restaurant & Bar and filled the spaces with creative and colorful touches (which they designed themselves) for their big day! There’s a gallery full of beautiful moments snapped up by Wren & Field Photography. Click here to see it all!

From the Grooms… Our original thought was to have our wedding in the Hudson Valley, an area that we absolutely fell in love with after a camping trip with our closest friends a few years back. However, with the logistics of getting both of our out-of-town families upstate, plus the fact that most had never been to NYC to visit us at home, we decided that we would need a compromise. Fortunately, we had stumbled onto Fort Tryon Park at the very northern tip of the city and New Leaf within, both of which we fell in love with as they gave us that deliciously relaxed feeling while still being surrounded by the city.

Being a same sex wedding, we didn’t really know what we had gotten ourselves into, and we didn’t really want to have any sort of a theme going on since most everything we kept coming across seemed to just ooze “here comes the bride.” To keep things working together, we just embraced that our wedding was going to be smack dab in the hottest part of an NYC summer and ran with the best parts of summer. Most everything then branched off our invite I designed to reflect this feeling, with bright neon colors, clusters of wildflowers, a shaved ice stand, vintage candies and arrows for escort cards. Being a graphic designer with a working knowledge of event planning, we saved a ton of money by making most all of the decorations were by hand with some blood, sweat and lots and lots of super glue.
