From Ang Weddings and EventsThis was an Great Gatsby-inspired bridal shoot with a indie/rock and roll twist. We wanted to create a fun, young, fresh, celebratory vibe. An extravagant party that everyone would want to be invited to and never have to leave! The NYIT De Seversky Mansion, a neoclassical/Georgian mansion built in 1918 that sits on 300 acres in Old Westbury, served as an absolutely perfect backdrop for this shoot. Judy thought it would be fun to use the same initials as the book’s couple, Daisy and Jay, so we named our couple Dahlia and Jayden. Make Merry designed the invitation suite with a bold, deco-inspired envelope liner and gold confetti drops on the RSVP envelope. Michelle Edgemont Designs created so many unique handmade elements for the shoot, including the J&D lighted signs we used over the bar, the geometric paper décor for the ceremony and all the wedding day paper goods. The floral design by Barbara’s Flowers was kept loose and wild with lots of greenery. The ceremony arch was wrapped with a vine in an organic and non-choreographed way. Big City Little Sweets created a decadent dessert display filled with scrumptious macarons, cake lollipops, cookies, mini cupcakes and tiramisu dessert cups. Dahlia wore Jenny Packham’s breathtaking Azalea gown from her Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Emily Riggs Bridal designed the perfect headpieces to complete her 1920’s style. JAC Beauty gave her a young fresh look, keeping her hairstyle very textured and giving her a gorgeous cranberry lip color. Judy Pak Photography captured the day in a fun, light-hearted and whimsical style, with the help of second shooter Falcon Griffith and cinematographer MLKL Photography. We had a blast working on this shoot!

From the Bride… When my knight in shining armor, Brian, got down on one knee, our wedding journey began. My knight is no ordinary knight — the force is strong with him. He LOVES all things Star Wars! I’m NO Princess Leia — I’m more of a Carrie Bradshaw who happens to have been born in Venezuela to Chinese parents. We wanted our wedding to be a reflection on who we are both as a couple and individual people, as well as what makes us smile. We both love the beach. I LOVE the color pink, Hollywood regency style, anything vintage, and I am just addicted to a good bargain. His love of the Republic knows no bound. How could I combine what he loves with what I love in a classy, understated manner, incorporate my unique background AND pay homage to our shared love of lobster rolls!? This was harder than crossing Manhattan in 4-inch heels without a cab! I treated our wedding as a party. A great party has good food, a piñata, music and sangria! For Brian, anything Star Wars-related makes for a an awesome time.

I had a specific vision in my head on not only how I wanted the space to look but how how I wanted the whole wedding to feel — beach chic romance meets Han Solo in a galaxy far far away! I started an inspiration board of things I loved and spaces that made me happy. Brian was great and didn’t really ask for much except a Bobba Fett groom’s cake. I showed my inspiration board to my florist, Victoria, who was AMAZING! She worked with our budget and helped find alternatives when my ideas were too big for our pockets. She allowed me to source most of my decor items: driftwood, mercury candle holders, seashells, glass globes to hang from the ceiling, lanterns, etc.). Beach chic theme, check! I also wanted to surprise Brian. I organized a Chewbacca butter sculpture, a Darth Vader pinata filled with Star Wars goodies, a Chewbacca cut-out with lightsabers as props at the DIY photobooth and Star Wars-themed guest tote bags. Brian had the brilliant idea of making a signature cocktail, a Tatooine Caucasian…another nod to Star Wars. Star Wars theme, check! Our invitations, favors and menu played into our love of lobster rolls. Our printer created a beautiful heart lobster monogram, which to stamp our favor bags. Each had a red enamel lobster cracker, a lobster bib and a lobster-shaped cookie cutter. The bag was tied with a two sided recipe card. On one side, it had the a lobster boil recipe to use with the lobster bib and cracker. On the second side, we had a cookie recipe to use the lobster cookie cutter with. We also served lobster rolls at the reception. We even had a lobster cage as our card holder! Lobster roll theme, check!

In order to represent my Chinese heritage, we decided to have the tea ceremony before the wedding. It was amazing to have both of our families participate in this cultural ritual. For my family, it was a sign of respect and something a parent looks forward to. For Brian’s family, it was a sign that they embraced and celebrated our differences. Lastly, at Chinese weddings, the bride and groom have a large photo of themselves at the entrance of the reception. We did a take on this tradition and had a love map of all our milestones together. Unique background honored, check! Our family and friends still talk about how much they loved our wedding because it was so us. I want brides everywhere to know that a wedding should be whatever they want it to be. No theme is too impossible to mix together. For us it was about incorporating all the different elements that we love and things make us who we are … even Star Wars can be classy!

And one seriously amazing film from Kiss the Bride Films for even more pretty, pretty inspiration. Enjoy!

From Tinsel & TwineThe bride and groom, Natasha Uspensky and Jonathan Parkhideh, had such a wonderful vision for their big day: a gorgeous, glamorous “Great Gatsby” theme. (They had started planning this glamorous lawn party, in fact, before they were officially engaged!) Their summertime ceremony and reception took place at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion in Old Westbury, New York. Its marble and mosaic foyer and sweeping landscape offered the perfect backdrop to their sophisticated soiree. My team at Tinsel & Twine was responsible for all aspects of the event’s decor — bouquets, florals, custom paper goods, lighting and props. Key floral design elements included lush garden roses, white lithianthus, succulents, speckled feathers and ostrich plumes, all held in textured, mercury glass vessels. Long tables and fireplace mantles were further adorned with tapered and pillared candles. Paper goods were all designed in gray and blush tones with classic art deco elements such as scalloped patterns and strong typography. The long tables with varying heights and textures created an opulent, yet accessible look and feel.

Long Island Wedding from Turn Loose The Art

We’re all huge fans of nautical weddings here at SMP. There’s just something so fun and flirty about them and this next little nautical number is no exception! The contrasting navy blazers and gorgeous coral colored bridesmaid dresses make for one amazing eye candy session and Turn Loose The Art captured it all in their fabulously lovely way. Oh, and the flowers? Beyond beautiful. See it all right here.

From Turn Loose The Art The couple lives in Manhattan but grew up on Long Island, so they set out to find a unique Long Island venue. Katherine’s cousin is a member of the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club, and thus the perfect venue — and theme — was born. With the gentleman in navy blazers and khakis and the women in punchy coral dresses, it was a visual feast. The bride had flyaway straps added to her dress covered in a beautiful, old-fashioned lace. The bridal party enjoyed a trolley from church to venue, while the bride and groom chose Mike’s father’s vintage Bel Air.  It was an incredibly pretty wedding.

Long Island Wedding from Robert & Kathleen Photographers + Jubilee Events

This lovely bride literally fell head over heels for her sweet, sweet groom and the love story that followed was one that could produce a wedding so chic and beautiful it will never be forgotten. The two teamed up with Jubilee Events to create the romantic soiree and made the second most important decision of their wedding (first being the “She said yes!” moment) when they hired the talent that is Robert & Kathleen Photographers to capture their big day. Who just so happened to fill a gallery with hundreds of pretty moments – so enjoy!

If you’re dying for a little more of this sweet, sweet soiree, grab the tissues and take a peek at Vintage Cinema’s view.

Our story began in Civil Procedure class during our first semester of law school when I literally fell head over heels for my future husband.  But, instead of sitting behind me laughing at the colossal klutz I had just proved myself to be, Ben quickly jumped out of his chair and picked me up.  And, well, he’s been picking me up and carrying me ever since.

We always joke that we did things just a little backwards.  We started dating in 2008, moved in together in 2009, and by 2010 we were geographically separated and engaged.  Now, we are married and currently living across the world from one another due to my commitment with the Air Force.  So, in those moments when I turn over in my bed and wish he was here, I can relive this incredible wedding day where I made a promise for a lifetime thanks to these genius photos from Robert & Kathleen and video from Jim Altieri.

Being a geographically separated couple, it was virtually impossible for us to plan a wedding without help.  Enter the amazing talents of Diana from Jubilee Events.  She quickly signed up for the difficult job of being our eyes and ears and developed a plan to reflect us—a New York couple who met by way of Arizona via Colorado and Virginia now living on two separate continents.  She introduced us to some seriously incredible vendors, including the gorgeously skilled Nichole of Coral Pheasant, who created our wedding paper.  We had the idea of naming our tables after places in the world that meant something to both of us and telling our story on each table card, so our friends and family could get to know us better.  Nichole did an incredible job of bringing these stories to life.

One vendor we knew we had to incorporate was the chocolatiers of Lilly’s Homemade Chocolate in Tremont, OH, who we met while we lived in Cleveland.  Ben and I spent many weekends in this underrated city sipping our favorite drinks, mine a French 77 and Ben’s an Old Fashioned, while devouring Lilly’s mouthwatering chocolate confections.   So, we elicited the help of Lilly’s to create epically delicious treats inspired by both signature drinks for all of our guests to enjoy.

Probably one of the most important touches of our wedding involved the handiwork of Ben’s step-father, who handcrafted the base for our cake and our escort card holder out of reclaimed wood from a 200 year old barn on his parents’ property.  It was a gorgeous, rustic touch all the way from upstate New York, where Ben was born and raised.  Also, Ben’s mom provided my something old and borrowed—an incredible vintage necklace from the 1800s given as a wedding gift to Ben’s great-grandmother, and she handmade all of the fascinators my bridesmaids and I wore.

Additionally, some of our photos were taken in places I fondly remember from my childhood.  My family is an avid supporter of the local fire department.  My father, uncle, and brother are all members, totaling over 75 years of service, so my family knew it would be the best place to welcome Ben to our family, and he spent his morning before the wedding with his groomsmen and parents at the local department, while my bridesmaids and I spent our time just down the road in my childhood home.

In the end, Ben and I wanted to make sure we never lost sight of the purpose of this day.  So five months before our wedding, on Christmas Day, instead of exchanging presents, we exchanged our wedding vows.  We were preparing a traditional Catholic ceremony, including traditional vows, but we wanted to make sure to also personalize our messages to each other.  Also being a traditional couple, we decided not to see each other before the ceremony.  So we wanted to make our personal promises to each other in private, and before we embarked on this incredible journey together.  We decided on Christmas, and in the quiet of our little home, we read our vows out loud to each other.  We displayed them at our reception, as a reminder of the promises we made to each other months before.  And, I’ve carried those same vows across the world, even if I couldn’t carry him with me.

From the Bride… Sean and I met while attending the University of Maryland. What started out as shy looks across the classroom turned into a budding romance complete with Terps football, date nights in Georgetown and lots of traveling while Sean and I pursued our careers and graduate degrees. Fast-forward nine years, three states and two pet bunnies later, Sean popped the question and we started planning our perfect wedding. We began by looking for a New York wedding venue that blended our love of the outdoors and classic style. When we found Bailey Arboretum on Long Island, we knew we had a perfect match for our casual elegance theme. The combination of beautiful gardens and a historic house provided an amazing backdrop to work with. After selecting the venue, the dress was the most important item for me! I really wanted something that had straps and a vintage yet timeless feel. I went to the Wedding Salon of Manhasset with my mom and bridal party and selected the first dress I tried on. Amazingly, it was a unanimous decision, and I couldn’t wait for my wedding day to come, just so I could wear that dress. From there, the rest of the planning just fell into place!

We wanted the wedding to be as personal as possible, so we kept the wedding under 100 guests. This really helped us talk with all of our guests and make them feel included. We both wanted an outdoor ceremony and decided to hold it in a secluded grove of trees at the Bailey Arboretum, which created a beautiful and intimate setting. We asked my godfather to marry us and worked with him on writing a ceremony that truly expressed our love for one another. One of the most touching moments was when my father sang an original song, which had everyone, including my photographer, a little teary-eyed. From the ceremony, guests went to a cocktail hour inside Bailey House, where they enjoyed our signature Cucumber Collins cocktails and delicious appetizers while being entertained by a jazz duo. After, the reception took place on the lawn under a large tent. One of my favorite moments of the reception was our first dance. We took two months of dance lessons to prepare and really amazed our guests (and ourselves) with our foxtrot to Frank Sinatra’s “More.”

What really helped make our day a success was hiring a fantastic group of vendors, from the makeup artist to the DJ. Each vendor carefully listened to what we wanted for the day and ended up exceeding our expectations. When you’re not working with a catering hall or a wedding planner, it means you have to do a lot of legwork yourself. Luckily, Mark of Excellence Catering really helped us plan the whole day, in addition to serving amazing food (including mini sorbet cones on the dance floor). To bring my garden party to life, we worked with Denise Fasanello, whose floral arrangements really complemented everything, from the aqua bridesmaid dresses to the burlap tablecloths. I wanted to sprinkle personal and unique accents throughout the day, and although it was time consuming, I was able to find a lot of great products on Etsy, including my hair flower, bunny cake toppers and our groomsmen’s ties. Last, we both agreed that the photography was very important to us to help preserve our memories, and we couldn’t have been happier than working with Tory. She is amazing at capturing every moment without interfering with the day, and I know I will cherish my photographs for a long time.

Bachelorette Party in The Hamptons from Amy Rizzuto Photography

Bachelorette parties are the best, don’t you think?  I mean, really, who doesn’t love spending an entire day/weekend bonding with the besties?  Hands down, one of the most amazing memories you’ll ever make.  And this darling bride-to-be?  Well, she most certainly knows how to throw a party.  With the help of Picture This Plan That, her dream of an intimate seaside fête in The Hamptons became an absolute (and totally adorable) reality.  It’s a cozy celebration chock-full of sweetness, all captured in pretty, pretty images by Amy Rizzuto Photography.  See them all here.

From the Bride… Mason jars filled with soft wheat grass, pretty porcelain plates decorated with blue trim, cream cloth napkins clasped together with tiny white seashells, overly-loved book pages and a lace tablecloth laid delicately on the sand — these are just a few of the details that made up my bachelorette party in the Hamptons!

As a bride, I knew I wanted every detail of my wedding process to be unique! Through spending the last few summers in the Hamptons, I completely fell in love with the relaxed and laid-back feeling I have when I am there. I can’t imagine anything more perfect than soaking up the sun on the beach, reading a great book and hanging out with my favorite girlfriends. This is the experience I wanted to give my bridesmaids! I invited them up to stay with me at Gurney’s Inn in Montauk, New York, for the weekend. As the sun set over the horizon, we shared cocktails, a “cake pop” cake, and plenty of laughs, all to set to the gentle sound of the crashing waves behind us. I used our favorite old love stories to decorate the delicate lace tablecloth, along with a garland of worn sea wood and mason jars filled with simple, cream-colored flowers. Tiny scrolls with each girl’s name in loopy script acted as adorable DIY place cards that perfectly fit the theme!  I can’t imagine a more perfect way to celebrate my bachelorette party, and I know I will treasure these memories with my girlfriends forever!

De Seversky Mansion Wedding by Christian Oth Studio

We may be in the thick of Summer but I guarantee this wedding is going to have you wishing for romantic winter nuptials as soon as you take a look at all the gorgeous imagery by Michael Falco of Christian Oth Studio. It comes blanketed in a layer of snow but inside the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, it’s all out warm and fuzzy romance, complete with twinkling candlelight at every turn. Be sure to check out the gallery for so much more as well as the perfect film by LoveSpun Films to accompany this gem.

From the Bride… Doug and I met in 2008 on a trip to Israel. Both graphic designers in New York, it quickly became apparent we shared many of the same passions and interests. Our conversations lead to instant friendship, and there, our love story began. Back in NYC, Doug took me on our first date to a neighborhood Mexican restaurant with an adorable garden out back. Little did I know, just over two years later we’d return to that same garden, and he would propose. Doug arranged the sweetest proposal surrounded by candles and flowers while our favorite songs played in the background. We celebrated with family and friends that evening and spent the next year planning our unforgettable wedding.

We were married on October 29, 2011. Many would remember that day as the record-breaking snow storm that swept across the Northeast, knocking down trees and power lines, closing roads, and blanketing the area with heavy white snow. For us, it set the backdrop for our romantic and charming October wedding. Though we never expected to get married in a snow storm, it was the finishing touch we couldn’t have paid for if we tried!

Our inspiration for the wedding came from many places and ultimately was a reflection of our love: classic and timeless. From the vintage stamps on our invitations to the guest book tree our friends and family helped create, the wedding was full of personal details and mementos. We chose our venue, De Seversky Mansion, for its historic charm and breathtaking setting. The first time we visited, we were instantly lost in time and captivated. We walked down the aisle to one of our favorite songs, Ingrid Michaelson’s rendition of “Can’t Help Falling In Love.” My six bridesmaids wore charcoal Amsale gowns with floral details, each carrying a simple bouquet of lush lavender and ivory ribbon. I walked aside my parents with a beautiful bouquet of fresh lavender and white anemones (my favorite flower). Our florist, Anne Kilcullen of Blade Floral, helped us to create our whimsical vision for the chuppah — a simple branch frame and beautiful curtains surrounded by white flowers. My dress was an extension of my vision: a romantic, lace gown by Anna Maier Ulla-Maija. I wore a beautiful veil passed down from my cousin; dainty diamond flower earrings from my grandma and delicate, crystal Ralph Lauren Collection shoes.

The wedding continued throughout the mansion, illuminated by twinkling candlelight and smiles all around. Garden-fresh flowers in white and ivory with greenery were complemented with hints of lavender, which is thought to bring good luck. I loved the symbolism of that, and we made sure to incorporate elements of our flowers throughout the wedding. The first time we walked into the dining room, tears came to my eyes at the site of our vision brought to life. It was breathtaking! One thing that was very important to Doug and me was that the wedding feel intimate and warm despite its size, and the mansion allowed just that. We took it up a notch for the reception with neon and black mustache glasses, which were quite the accessory. We danced our first dance to Adele’s “One and Only,” surrounded by more warmth and love than I could have imagined. With a backdrop of falling snow and charming music filling the mansion, our fairytale came to life. Looking back, we feel so blessed!

Southampton Wedding by Levi Stolove Photography

If I had one word to describe this wedding, it would be H-A-P-P-Y! A neutral black and white palette splashed with pops of green created the perfect modern affair for this California couple who wanted to bring a touch of the west coast back east. It’s hard not to smile while gazing at these perfect photos by Levi Stolove Photography, especially when the bride and groom are so absolutely in-love. Keep your spirits high and peek at the rest of the gallery right over here!

From the Bride… Our biggest challenge was bringing our lives in California to the east coast, all while keeping within a traditional, Saturday night, formal affair. We used little details like fonts and a minimalist color palette to keep it fresh and highlight our personalities. One thing we were really excited about was making table cards named after special moments in our relationship. We had a J date table because that is where we met! We enjoyed sharing our story with all of our guests and inviting people into our life together. We also crafted many of our details together — making things together is something we both enjoy.

From the Bride… Jeremy and I met on a spring break vacation to the Bahamas with zero intention of finding our soul mates! We were each with our own friends at the pool one day when we met. It was absolutely electric! There was no way we could possibly stay away from each other. While on vacation, we stayed up countless nights on the beach talking about everything and nothing … and soon found out that we lived only a half hour away from each other on Long Island. I was 19 and he was 22, and we tried to make our relationship work, but being young, we never gave it a real shot. We kept in touch over the years and coached each other through our dysfunctional relationships. We’d joke and say that one day we would get married, and somewhere deep down we both hoped it would come true. Life went on as we traveled our different paths until we decided it was our time to finally give it a real shot! After six months of a long-anticipated relationship that lived up to every expectation we built up over the years, Jeremy proposed!

We enjoyed our engagement and wedding planning. We both wanted our wedding to feel personal, like we thought of every single person while wedding planning. The last thing we wanted was another generic wedding. We wanted a very natural space with absolutely no “glitz and glam,” a really raw, rustic feel. Jeremy and I both love wine, so the vineyard was an easy choice for us. We learned that we would have to bring in every single vendor, but that left us able to customize, which was exactly what we wanted. We had to choose everything from flatware to floor plans and so much more. Jeremy is incredibly handy, and we made our details ourselves… our place cards were slices of wood that he cut and sanded, then I stained and wrote everyone’s name and table numbers on them. We made our four-tier cake/cupcake stand (we got dessert from my favorite bakery, Two Little Red Hens in NYC), our ceremony and cocktail hour signs, our wine bottle table numbers, etc. In doing all these projects together, we were able to share a vision of what we wanted our big day to be, and we really enjoyed spending the time together while creating everything. Most importantly in any wedding planning, we found the most incredible, down to earth vendors, who later became friends. Amanda from Amanda Barbara Events paid even more attention to detail than I did, something that I didn’t think was possible! She executed every detail and the vision that we had the day of that would never have been created without her. Janelle and Terrie from Janelle Brooke Photography captured every movement of the most magical day of our lives. Not only did they do our photography, but they kept my sanity the whole way through! McKenzie from McKenzie Miller Films, whose car we jumped in to go from site to site to take photos before the ceremony, was such a calming influence that day! Jacqui from PTG Rentals that was able to get us everything from the tent, to the flatwear, to the candy cart and the linens we wanted! There are just too many vendors to name them all, but everyone was just amazing!

When the big day came, everything fell into place and even the weather cooperated! Seeing Jeremy for the first time privately before our ceremony was one of my favorite moments of the day. It was such an intimate and personal time that we would never have gotten, had we tried to cram our photos in after the ceremony. The ceremony went according to plan, and our beloved bulldog, Elby, walked down the aisle with ease! We were feeling confident that the rest of the day would go off without a hitch — until the kitchen caught fire, and we and our 165 guests were evacuated! Advice to all future brides out there: if something out of your control happens, just sit back and let it go! It’s SO NOT WORTH freaking out! Luckily after an hour, we all came back in to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” very appropriate for our situation and because we are both Billy Joel lovers! We danced and enjoyed the rest of the evening. We are lucky to have such amazing friends and family that were able to stay calm and roll with the unexpected situation! It was certainly an event our guests will not forget!

From the Bride… We wanted our guests to feel relaxed and comfortable, as though they were in our backyard, but also have the feeling of it being a very special occasion. After searching venues, we found Blue Hill to be the perfect location to achieve that balance. We kept the wedding formalities to a minimum and just let the night unfold organically.

I woke up the morning of the wedding at the Mark Hotel, where my bridesmaids and I got ready for the day. The rain was pouring and pouring, forcing us to relinquish any hope of a sunny, summer day wedding. As much as we had hoped for and anticipated a summer wedding, the rain couldn’t have been more fun. With all our guests inside the restaurant and the rain pounding outside, it gave the day a really intimate feel, with everyone happy to be inside and warm. The endless votive candles gave the restaurant an amazing warmth. We were married at the Church of Saint Aidan, where TJ and I were both baptized. Following the ceremony, we had cocktails in the restaurant at Blue Hill and then dinner upstairs in the ballroom, followed by dancing downstairs again in the restaurant. We loved having different areas of the property to move around during the day/night so our guests felt as though they were roaming around a house with each room having a different feel. We wanted our love of food and fresh produce to shine through, so we decided to have TJ’s business supply our floral team with the most beautiful seasonal produce available. We had a display of amazing apricots and figs and cherries that were meant as display but were so beautiful and appetizing, our guests couldn’t help themselves! Our friends and family tasted all the delicious produce throughout the party, and it was so fun and relaxed to have people with fruit in their hands as they were sipping on the champagne! We achieved the backyard BBQ feel without even meaning too! Our florist Ned Kelly brought a bicycle to Blue Hill and designed it with the most beautiful flowers and little chalkboards signaling to guests where the dinner and dancing took place. It was so adorable and a great touch!

As far as advice, don’t sweat the small stuff! You won’t remember half the details you were hoping to achieve once the day unfolds, just smile and enjoy what is truly the best time of your life!

Huntington Wedding Film at Oheka Castle by 31 Films

I love seeing weddings come to life. Especially when those shooting the film are the fabulous people at 31 Films. This same day edit is a testimony to their crazy talent. And the wedding they filmed is so super gorgeous, you’ll want to watch it more than once. The outdoor ceremony at Oheka Castle is so pretty, I can practically feel the warm, summer breeze on my face!

From 31 Films It’s always a goal for us to get to know our couple’s stories and to put them into the films that we produce. We flew to New York to produce this same day edit for Joanne and Andy. Through a fun skype chat, we got to know them. Joanne and Andy work in the city. They met at a small group from their church and hit it off. Joanne gave Andy an unfinished Jenga block set to represent that they’re relationship is a building process.

The location was at the historic Oheka Castle, which was breathtaking. Most of the guests were coming from the city on the wedding day, so we wanted to show the journey from the city to the castle. We also shot footage around the financial district, where they work. The stop motion animation represented who they are individually and together through this building process themed through out the wedding day. Their personal vows were very touching and emotional which was key to their story. On top of all of this, they are a fun group and know how to party! You could tell that every detail had important meaning to Joanne and Andy. We worked hard to infuse this into their story.

From Patricia Kantzos PhotographyAlison and Matt were great to work with, and it was an honor to photograph their wedding. It was evident from when we first met they wanted their wedding to reflect their style while making sure their family and friends had fun. You can see from the images that this is a group that lives, loves and laughs. Both Alison and Matt are in creative fields, so I knew their wedding would have many special details. I LOVED all the flowers. Amy Febinger is so talented. Another of my favorite details was the photo booth. I was thrilled when they asked me to help them set this up. Alison, Matt and their friends have a tradition: for each wedding, they together design and construct a backdrop. I provided all the photography. The Adam and Eve backdrop was perfect.

From the bride…Ramin and I met on Easter Sunday 2002 on a Metro North commuter train from New York City to New Haven, Connecticut. I was returning from Easter brunch with my family and Ramin was returning from the wedding of a close friend in Baltimore, Maryland.  Over the next 7 years, we remained friends and dated on and off until reuniting in May 2009. In January 2010, Ramin and I planned a trip to visit his mother who lived in San Francisco. Unbeknownst to me, Ramin also planned a surprise weekend in Napa Valley, California where he proposed.  We had spent several weekends on the Eastern end of Long Island, specifically Montauk and East Hampton the summer before our engagement. We loved the relaxed and down–to-earth feeling of the seaside towns.  We knew it was the perfect location for our big day.

From Tessie of Tessie Reveliotis PhotographyJeanine and Michael got married on July 16, 2011. Their wedding reminded me of a vintage wedding with style, elegance and grace. Down to the last detail, Jeanine pulled all the elements together that highlighted her and Michael’s wedding day. In fact, their wedding date was sewn into her purse. They also had their initials grace the doors of the church where they had their ceremony. Simply, a beautiful wedding!

From Lauren of Lauren Gabrielle PhotographyHe first set eyes on her at a college sorority blind date party. The funny thing is, Mike didn’t attend the party intending to meet a girl — he decided to go with some friends just to have fun. Little did he know he would meet his future wife, Mika. At first they were just friends, but over time they knew something special was happening to their relationship. Mike proposed to Mika near his childhood home on Rockaway Beach … it was the perfect setting for such a romantic occasion with the smooth sand, crashing waves, soft breeze, and the sentiment that Mike for this beach. Mika and Mike decided they also wanted to have a beach wedding and figured that the Hamptons was the easiest “destination wedding” that they could have within driving distance from Manhattan. Their original plan of renting a house and setting up a tent for the reception didn’t pan out, but luckily they somehow stumbled upon Race Lane. As soon as they walked into the space, they knew it was just what they were looking for! It had a great indoor/outdoor space, lovely decor, delicious food and great owners. The owner’s wife even created all of the table arrangements herself! As for the music, Mika’s childhood friend plays in a band so it worked out great that they were able to have him as part of a trio to play music at the ceremony and reception. Overall, all the elements of the day came together perfectly, and it was such a pleasure to witness and photograph the love between this beautiful couple!

From Melina of DM Events Planning & Design As wedding designers, we have been very lucky to work on the weddings of some really wonderful people, but we are especially lucky when we get to create the special day of one of our friends! Kevin, the groom, and I were college friends so we knew right away this wedding was going to be a blast! Sam, the bride, works in fashion and has a fantastic design eye, so we also knew the wedding would be beautiful and unique. With a duo like that, we had to sign on to be a part of the magic! Sam and Kevin, an English professor, wanted to incorporate their love for books into a simple, elegant design. Right away, we knew that their favorite love stories would be transformed into table numbers that, along with mismatched vintage lanterns, would be the prime element of the centerpieces. Each book was accented with blooms of purple spider mums and stems of baby’s breath. Keeping with the vintage love theme, we used antique glass vessels as bud vases and tons of votives to pair with the lanterns and create a flood of romantic light. To anchor and unify all the elements of the table, we placed the books and most of the bud vases on a wood slab, which also served to add a bit of height. What better way to accent a vintage-themed love story than with antique skeleton keys!? The keys appeared in a variety of design elements but our favorite was as place cards marking each seat.

Kevin and Sam knew they wanted their guests to really party – they helped encourage this by serving “Coletinis,” a nod to the new Mr. and Mrs. Cole,  made with vodka, Chambord, and a splash of lime juice and sour mix – YUM! Guests could grab a signature cocktail and relax with a cigar! But the big treats were the delightful cake and mini cupcakes created by the lovely Betsy of Nine Cakes. One of our most favorite details ever: It is said that smell is a powerful memory trigger, so we included sprigs of lavender only in the bride’s bouquet, groom’s boutonniere and bud vases on the couple’s table. It will remain their own private memory of their wedding for years to come.
