Country Vintage Farm Engagement Session

The main criteria for this couple’s sweet outdoor e-sesh? Including all their furry friends (horses, cat, goats – you name it!) plus darling little niece. It’s an engagement shoot gone country-style glam with locally grown blooms crafted in the hands of A Garden Party. More from the lens of Rachel Pearlman right here!

From Rachel Pearlman PhotographyThese country lovebirds had one requirement for their engagement session – to include their “family” – a barn cat, a pony, a show horse named Larry, and a few friendly goats…oh and their adorable niece, Morgan. Sara, training to become an Olympic horseback rider, has grown up surrounded by farm animals. Her fiancé, Jason, is a farmer. Naturally, the groundwork was laid for a rustic and natural shoot featuring floral styling by A Garden Party and Jason’s vintage, green pickup. Yes, he does drive it around town. A standout touch for this session was the stunning floral jewelry created by A Garden Party.

From A Garden PartyOne of the most popular wedding trends for the past few seasons has been the “natural, rustic” vibe, full of wildflowers and vintage touches. There is something special about incorporating glimpses of the past into decor, but sometimes it’s hard to find what is truly authentic.

Huge locally grown pink and burgundy dahlias, garden roses and gomphrena were woven into a garland of seeded and silver dollar eucalyptus to sit on the back of the couple’s green Chevy.

Wanting to accentuate her love of horses, Sara had tons of the locally grown gomphrena threaded together to form a lead rope for her childhood pony, Sunshine. She held a bouquet of dahlias, gladiolus, and garden roses to match Sunshine’s halter flowers, and the horse blanket was made of tree ivy overlapping to form the backdrop for even more of the pink gomphrena spelling out “love.” The horse blanket and horse wreath is also showcased on Polaris “Larry”, Sara’s show horse.

The real show stealer is Morgan, whose floral crown was the perfect accessory for her sweet demeanor. Sharing the same elements as Sunshine’s adornments, her halo had tree ivy and pink and purple gomphrena to coordinate with her bubblegum cowboy boots.

Lastly, we decided to create unique, live floral jewelry for Sara, the bride to be who prefers blooms over baubles; the garden inspired necklaces, bracelets & ring are plantable post party!

Romantic Paris Theme Wedding at The Historic Smithville Inn

We’re suckers for a Parisian love story, and this one will steal your heart. Primrose And Company captured the magic of the City of Lights in this romantic wedding, which features a sentimental lock and key theme inspired by the Groom’s proposal at the Ponte de Arts. Mary + Roy snapped away at all the pretty, which you’ll find in the full gallery right here!

From Primrose And CompanyMeghan and Kyle met and became Seahawk Sweethearts while attending Wagner College. After six years of dating, the couple took a summer vacation to Europe. While in Paris, Meghan surprised Kyle with a padlock to lock on the famous bridge Ponte de Arts. People from all across the world take part in this romantic tradition, where they place a padlock on the bridge and throw away the key into the Seine River, all awhile making a wish. The couple accidentally put their lock on the wrong bridge. However, Meghan’s wish did come true when the couple finally found Ponte de Arts and Kyle got down on one knee and asked for Meghan’s hand in marriage. In addition to the gorgeous ring, Kyle had also brought a padlock to Paris but didn’t mention it to Meghan when she had presented him with the lock she had brought. Later, Kyle’s padlock was placed on their wedding cake, bringing the magic of their Paris love story to their New Jersey wedding reception.

It was very important to Meghan and Kyle to stay true to their style when planning their wedding. The couple wanted to keep the day romantic, intimate and most importantly personal. During their ceremony, Meghan and Kyle locked their hand written vows in a box during the unity portion of the service. Not only did the locking of the vows symbolize their devotion to each other, but it also replicated the events of their engagement. In order to achieve the personal aesthetic in the reception space, the couple created baby photo table numbers, skeleton key escort cards, and donation favors. Not to mention, their Florist/Event Stylist surprised the couple with many Parisian themed decor pieces that truly took Meghan and Kyle’s breath away.

The fifteen months of planning each detail did not go unnoticed by any of the guests. Everyone was so incredible joyous in the celebration that not a single person sat during the reception. The dance floor was constantly packed to the point that the DJ had to request that guests please be seated to eat their meals! College friends reenacted choreography from their school musical “Footloose”. Uncles waved their napkins above their heads while dancing their own jig. Grandparents took part in doing the Polka and a brother of the Bride put Taylor Swift to shame in his rendition of “Shake it Off”. Meghan and Kyle’s wedding was truly an event no one wanted to see end. The couple is looking forward to planning an anniversary party in the future, just to relive every moment of their special day!

Meghan felt absolutely glamorous in her Allure Couture gown. Her earrings were an incredible find at T.J.Maxx. Her shoes by Caparros were the perfect height for dancing the night away. The lace that wrapped the bottom of Meghan’s bouquet was from her Mother’s wedding gown. Kyle was dressed in a custom three-piece suit from Indochino and his Etsy custom made cufflinks had a map of Paris on the face. The couple purposely designed Kyle’s suit to be a slightly darker grey than the groomsmen, to make his suit a bit more special. It was important to the couple that their wedding party be dressed in affordable and practical attire. Their ensembles were not only picked out for the wedding but for potential use to be worn again with out looking too bridal. The women were dressed in black cocktail dresses from White House Black Market. Their earrings were from Kate Spade and bangle bracelet from Papyrus. The groomsmen suits were from Charles Tyrwhitt and their ties and suspenders were from The Tie Bar.

Pink + Gray Summer Wedding at the Ashford Estate

Pink and gray can look impossibly chic, and this summer wedding at a New Jersey estate is all the proof you need. From the Bride’s rose bouquet to the bridesmaids’ sterling dresses, everything is color coordinated to perfection—even the flowers on the grounds of the estate seem to fit right in! The ultra-talented Kay English, an Ashford Estate preferred photographer, captured all the lovely details, which you can see right here!

From the Bride… Jay and I met at a softball tournament in early August. This doesn’t sound like the most romantic of meetings, however it was well planned and thought out by my sister and Jay’s sister-in-law. We casually hung out that night after the games were over and were basically inseparable ever since. Meeting Jay took me by surprise. It took a long time for me to find a so-called “nice guy” who was genuine and everything I had hoped for.

After almost a year of dating Jay completely shocked me by getting down on one knee in front of our families and asked me to be his wife. Soon after we began looking at wedding venues. We both knew we wanted a summer wedding and knew we wanted it to be somewhat local so we focused our search in New Jersey. I had been to a wedding at Bonnet Island Estate some years before and went on the website to research that venue. That’s when I came across the Ashford Estate. As soon as we pulled through the gates and drove up the driveway to the mansion I knew I had to have my wedding there. It completely took my breath away. It was elegant and romantic which is how I knew I wanted my wedding to be. Once the venue was picked we were able to focus on the details of the day itself.

The wedding dress was the first item on my list. The moment I put on the Justin Alexander ballgown I knew it was the one. The layers of organza with the beaded belt were what I’ve been picturing since I was a little girl playing bride in my parents backyard.

I didn’t have a particular theme in mind, I just knew I wanted the day to be romantic and centered around love. I focused on a color palette of soft pinks and gray. My bridesmaids wore Donna Morgan dresses in the color sterling and my flower girl coordinated in a light pink dress. The men and ring bearer were dressed in Vera Wang black tuxes. The girls and I carried light pink and white flowers with gray accents.

We had the barn chapel and the ballroom decorated with white and pink hydrangeas and tea roses, candelabras and vases. The centerpieces varied in height and the soft candlelight created the ambiance I had hoped for. Everything at the Ashford Estate was completely customizable to our tastes, from the menu to the table linens. We even chose bride and groom signature drinks, a champagne cocktail for the bride and whiskey for the groom.

I wanted to DIY some parts of the day so I had my mother make up a chalkboard program to be displayed outside the barn as well as a sign for the ring bearer (he wasn’t too cooperative in holding it), we also created place cards which doubled as our favor (silver script ‘love’ bottle openers) and had our guests toss rose petals as we exited the chapel.

The entire day felt like a dream. It was surreal and absolutely everything I hoped for. We asked my cousin to marry us. He became ordained and performed a ceremony that was the perfect combination of funny, sweet, and loving. The moment Jay and I locked eyes as I walked up the aisle I felt at ease. I knew whatever happened the rest of the day didn’t matter. After our first kiss as husband and wife we entered cocktail hour at the mansion and began our celebration with friends and family.

Our maitre’d coordinated everything perfectly with our vendors. From the moment we arrived all the way till the after party on the terrace. Our DJ kept the dance floor packed all night, we barely sat down! I am so thankful I have gorgeous photos and a video to look back on from that day because it was almost an out of body experience. It was so amazing that it didn’t feel real. I am fortunate enough to say I had my dream wedding and I married my dream guy. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Romantic Winter Wedding at The Ashford Estate

A classic winter wonderland wedding continues to rise on my list of favorite celebration styles and this one right here, photographed by Vanessa Joy, is a perfect example of why. With elegant design and some festive, fun touches (pinecones!) this wedding is romantic and cozy; what more could you ask for on your Big Day? Rob Adams Films topped it all off and I’ll be snuggled up here for the foreseeable future.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/118167761 600 338]

From Vanessa Joy PhotographyTiffany and Nick’s Ashford Estate wedding was breathtaking! The entire day took place at the Ashford where the guys looked dapper in their black tuxedos and the ladies wore Lazaro dresses and Tiffany wore a Vera Wang dress. Their ceremony was sweet as friends and family gathered to witness these two lovebirds say “I do.” The subtly winter inspired florals were grand thanks to Magnolia Floral Designs and I could not help but admire the small pinecones thrown into the mixture of white roses. The entertainment for the night was a blast courtesy of Vali Entertainment . The film above is from my husband, NJ Wedding cinematographer, Rob Adams Films, and of course, we finished our night off with an amazing night photo outside on the patio under the stars!

From the Bride… Nick and I met during our final months at Colgate University. At the time, I worked at the fitness center and every time he walked in I couldn’t keep my eyes off him. With time, I built up the courage to introduce myself and after bumping into each other a few times, he took me on our first date. Before I knew it, weeks flew by. Graduation came and went, and all I wanted to do was spend more time with him. We spent the summer drinking wine, cooking together, reading on the beach, and having endless conversations. The rest, as they say, is history.

When planning our wedding, it was important for us to highlight how romantic we are, how much fun we have with each other, and how happy we make each other. Each element, from the fairytale wedding gown to the dusty white rose petals to the vibrant band, was chosen to highlight who Nick and I are.

The inspiration for our wedding was a winter wonderland. We focused on creating an atmosphere of warmth, passion, and romance during a snowy winter night with whites, dusty silvers, and glistening golds. The ceremony was held at night in a cozy chapel entirely lit by candles. The reception, like the ceremony, was filled with fragrant white flowers and dusty millers. The entire wedding felt like a winter fairytale.

I have two favorite moments of my wedding. The first was while exchanging vows. I remember looking into Nick’s crystal blue eyes and being filled with butterflies. I will never forget the way he looked at me. The second is when we danced our first dance as husband and wife. I felt like I was in my own fairytale. In that moment, I felt everyone fade away and the only ones in the room was us. I remember his eyes, my skirt swishing back and forth, and him twirling me around. I felt like my heart swelled to three times its size.

On my wedding day I had the feeling of true happiness. I fell in love all over again every time I looked at Nick. His eyes made me feel excitement and passion. I felt hope in our future and a spiritual peace that comes from finally finding the other half of your soul.

From Jessa of Love & Light Photographs… Jenny and Joe love the sea. They often set sail and travel the world for weeks on end, where it’s just the two of them and nothing else matters. Their laid-back, adventurous spirit provided the perfect storyline for Paige of Gilded Lily Events to bring their vision to life. From the lobster trap used as a cardholder, the hand-lettered “dirty mermaid” cocktail signage, and blue and white porcelain vases on each table, I really haven’t seen a nautical theme taken on quite like this. (Not an anchor in sight!) Each and every detail was a dream to photograph, and I am so excited to share them with you!

From Paige from Gilded Lily EventsFrom the first meeting with Jenny and Joe, I knew the style their wedding would be. They are both classic and effortless. They chose a reception venue on the water in Rumson, NJ with the perfect nautical decor. Walking into the venue, I knew the rope accents, teak wood, and crisp white walls would be the perfect backdrop for their wedding. We were very classic in many of our decor decisions such as blue and white ginger jars with blush and white roses, navy and white stripes and lots of rope but had more fun with an oversized welcome drink sign, a salt water taffy bar and signature drinks such as the Dirty Mermaid. The best compliment of all was when Jenny and Joe told me their wedding was “so us.” I think I agree!

Elegant New Jersey Fall Wedding

We have a Bride right here after our own hearts. Not only does her love for all things SMP go beyond words, but she’s also a florist herself so it’s no surprise that these are some of the prettiest bouquets we’ve seen in awhile. They’re the icing on the cake to an already gorgeous gathering, where neutrals shone almost as much as the smiles. Twah Dougherty captured both and these pics are too good not to share.

From the beautiful Bride… I literally can’t explain how obsessed I’ve been with Style Me Pretty since before I even had a boyfriend. I work in wedding flowers, and it always gave me the freshest ideas and inspirations and was exactly my taste. Every. Single. Thing. And it was the start of my wedding obsessed self. Every day, the first thing I do when I get to work is log into my email, and open a new tab to Style Me Pretty. I love that there is something new on the front page every day, and the way it categorizes colors, locations, and tags. I love the way it brings together so many different styles, from modern to vintage, big weddings to small weddings, and all the DIY and personalized touches you can’t find anywhere else. Basically it was life changing for me, and I knew that one day when I got married, I wanted a “Style Me Pretty” type of wedding.

Mike and I dated for a short time before knowing we wanted to spend our lives together. He proposed in December on a snowy night, and we picked November 1, 2014 (the following year) as our wedding date, by default because that’s what the venue had available as far as Saturday nights go. The reception venue is owned by my step-grandfather, and our gift from him was to have the wedding there. Even though this wasn’t our dream venue… we were on a tight budget, and having the venue taken care of was beyond the best gift we could ever ask for, and probably the smartest decision we ever made.

Planning was easy and stress free for Mike and I. I knew what I wanted, am super decisive, and had the best fiancé (now husband) who agreed to anything he knew I loved. Being on a budget you learn fast how to prioritize, and everyone does it differently. We chose to have a DJ instead of a band and instead of invitations with lots of detail, we went simple. All the visions I had originally had to be adjusted, but it was important that we stuck to the style that was true to us, and at the end of the day, portray the wedding of our dreams, not for anyone else but ourselves. We didn’t want to look back with should haves, but for me, if I couldn’t have something the way I wanted it, I didn’t want it all. Mike and I are big believers in quality things, and unfortunately have expensive taste like most people do. It was important that we have the few nice things we knew we wanted that would help execute our vision, and agreed to balance out the other parts of the wedding we felt like we could save on and at the end of it all, we couldn’t have had a better more memorable day with delicious food and lots of fun and dancing for us and all of our guests.

All I wanted was an understated beautiful affair, to best represent us as a couple. We wanted a simple, classy wedding, with vintage touches, modern touches, a whimsical garden feel with tons of texture… a mix of it all, just like us. We felt like we didn’t need to have only one word to describe our wedding, and that if we picked all things we loved… it would all come together. We effortlessly chose all neutral tones… taupe as the main color accented by navy in the guys’ suits and tons of natural pretty green, champagne, ivory in my flowers. I knew I wanted photos outdoors, which to me are the most beautiful photos anyone could have …I have no reason behind it, it’s just what I love and always have loved. Since our venue didn’t have outdoor space for photos, we made sure no matter the weather, we would stop at a park after the church to get the photos we wanted, that were so beyond important to us.

Photography was the number one priority on my list and thanks to Style Me Pretty, as well as the recommendation of a friend, I found Twah Dougherty. There are no words for what that woman can do with photos, and especially working with someone like me, who is completely awkward taking photos and taking myself serious. When I tell you I am NOT gracious by any means, I mean it. Twah made all my photo dreams to come true. She had to remind me for EVERY SINGLE photo she took to put my shoulders down because I was all scrunched up because of the cold weather. She’s a doll, super comfortable to be around, and easy to love. I can’t thank her enough for everything she did for me. My guests kept calling her a ninja, because she was all over the place, quick, quiet, and amazing. We even heard her saying how she wished she could have climbed a tree at the park to get a certain angle… it doesn’t get more devoted than that. She captured my vision with ease (or so I think), and I feel like we were meant to be. Twah and us. Mike and I.

As a busy bee working in the wedding world, I knew all the DIY stuff I wanted to do wasn’t all going to happen, but did want something personalized and unique. For favors, we filled mason jars with hot cocoa powder and mini marshmallows. Not only do Mike and I love hot cocoa, but love the rustic accent that was brought in from the mason jar. We tied on a taupe ribbon to match our wedding colors and got kraft paper stickers to put on top. We also ordered hand carved wood table numbers, and painted them in a light taupe color to bring in some more color on the tables. It’s crazy how a detail so small and often overlooked made the table for me.

My ivory lace dress had a cocoa underlay and was almost exactly what I thought I was going to end up with. It was the second dress I tried on, bought it, and never looked back. It did come strapless but I chose to have sleeves made, and a custom veil custom that my aunt/godmother bought me. I had my something blue sewn into the bodice of my dress, which was a piece of my grandmother’s apron.

My something old was my late grandmother’s chain, with a blessed mother charm, which she wore every day. She was very important to me, so it was important that I had something that I felt was a part of her with me, and to include my other grandmother as well, since we are close too! My something borrowed was a pair of pearl/diamond stud earrings from a co-worker I have grown very close to over the past couple years. The earrings fit my look perfectly, and were that much better because they were from someone so special.

My family owns a florist shop and I do other bride’s wedding flowers for a living, so needless to say, flowers were kind of a big deal. I had a certain style, but wasn’t super picky on exactly every single stem that went in, it was more about achieving an overall feel. I’ve always loved a neutral palette and knew the whites and creams were going to be a main flower color but we added in quicksand roses along with a variety of beautiful greenery to deepen the colors a bit and give more dimension. I am huge on texture, and thankfully my list of favorite flowers is endless, so we brought together most of them for my bouquets and centerpieces, including tulips, peonies, stock, ranunculus, lily of the valley, veronica, roses, astrantia, thistle, hypericum berries, delphinium, scabiosa, spray roses, amaryllis, dusty miller… and the list goes on. The greens we used were also important, as I wanted different shades, different shapes, different styles… they’re so underappreciated! I also decided to have hand-tied pieces of willow eucalyptus laying on each guest’s plate. I had always dreamed of a flower arch to get married under. My original vision took place outside but since we decided to get married in a Catholic church, which was big and beautiful, we put the arch outside the front doors for a dramatic entrance, which would then be a great place for family photos.

Overall I have to say that wedding planning for us was fairly easy. We knew what we wanted, and stuck to it. I didn’t want to become obsessive and unrealistic, so we did what we could… and let the day happen. I refused to let anything stop Mike and I from having a gorgeous wedding, not even the freezing cold, misty rain. I wanted to be happy, remember it as a happy day, and I could not have better advice for future brides. Hiccups happen for everyone but letting go a little bit, and letting the day happen so you can truly appreciate every minute.

Traditional Spring Shadowbrook Wedding

We’ve already glimpsed two stunning weddings from the lens of A Guy + A Girl Photography, and as they say m’dears, third time is the charm. New Jersey Nautical Yacht Club Wedding

The loveliness of this Avalon, New Jersey wedding has us dreaming of warm Summer days in a quaint beach town. Between the stunning pearl and diamond ring, the handsome pup, and the personal touches every step of the way, this wedding is quickly becoming one of our faves. Add in the incredible shots from Alison Conklin and you’ve got a full gallery worth swooning.

[iframe https://player.vimeo.com/video/112224558 600 338]

From the Alison Conklin Photography … This wedding was a charming nod to nautical. Brooke and Jordan put so much time into their details. It rained most of the day but just in time the clouds parted and we had such an incredible sunset.

From the bride … Jordan and I met in the Spring of 2011 and had an instant connection. It took a bit of effort on Jordan’s side to convince me to go out on a date because we worked at the same company. After a few failed attempts, he persisted and I finally gave in. At dinner, we bonded over our enormous families and could easily feel there was an undeniable bond being formed. We were inseparable from that date on and it wasn’t long before I introduced Jordan to my favorite place on earth, Avalon, New Jersey. After one visit, Jordan fell in love with it as much as I had.

Personalizing our wedding was very important to us. While all of the individual details of the weekend were important, the ceremony was the most special for us to plan. We were married in St Mary’s Episcopal Church, which is a very small and intimate church on the island. To us, the marriage is the most important part of a wedding and we wanted to make sure that it represented and included God, our families, and genuinely portrayed us and our love for one another. The most romantic and special moment was definitely our Reverend reading heartfelt and emotional letters that we wrote to each other that no one in the congregation knew about. Hearing our special words to each other brought on plenty of water works for us and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.

Following the ceremony, the wedding party headed to the beach for pictures. We were a bit hesitant because there was a consistent drizzle throughout the day; they do say a wet knot is the hardest to untie! I’m so glad we braved the rain because the group had so much fun and made so many memories on the beach. Despite the drizzle and somewhat grey skies, the most gorgeous and fiery sunset poked through the clouds. Low and behold we were even graced with a gorgeous rainbow as well.

We added several special personal touches to our reception. We absolutely loved our gold painted oyster shell escort cards that were situated in hand made re-used lumber mini sand boxes. We also added a “memory table” to honor our grand parents who are no longer with us. As you walked through the foyer into the main reception area, you were able to see antique maps of Avalon and Stone Harbor as well as our unique “message in a bottle” guest book. We are lovers of ice cream so in addition to cake we included the popular Springer’s Ice Cream, an absolute must on the island.

In the end the vision we had perfectly came to life. Our friends and family have not stopped commenting on how personal the wedding ceremony was and how it was perfect depiction of the two of us as a couple. It was so special to have all of our friends and family celebrate on the 7 Mile Island we cherish so much. We are so thankful for everyone who contributed in making our wedding such a perfect day. About once a week, my husband and I ask ourselves if we can go back and do the entire weekend over again.

Vintage Chic Summer Wedding

Pretty pastels, an old home for guests to explore, dinner on the porch; that is how I picture a summer evening well spent. Add in these two lovebirds and I’d happily volunteer to be a guest at this sweet celebration. Vanessa Joy was lucky enough to witness their vows, capturing every minute and Experience Events made that dinner on the porch a well styled scene. See more right here!

From Vanessa Joy PhotographyA beautiful chapel wedding with simple, neutral colors. A handsome groom and a stunning bride. Their reception was filled with unique details from hanging candle lanterns, old fashioned chairs, long table seating with lanterns and small flower arrangements. Of course, you cannot forget about the kids table seating complete with old wooden door tables and personalized table settings. The DJ played actual records of songs like old swing and jazz.

From the Bride… Planning a wedding is a daunting task. And like many brides, I started off feeling more than a little overwhelmed by the process and by the universe of possibilities for planning such an important day. Finding the reception venue was what started to bring the whole day into focus.

We stumbled across the Water Witch Club in Monmouth Hills, NJ, close to where my fiancé grew up and where his parents still live. The Water Witch was built in 1905 and walking through the clubhouse is like stepping back in time. We used one of the original 1920’s Water Witch Club invitations (which we found hanging on the wall of the casino) for our wedding invitation, and had our DJ (Neal Becton of DJ D-Mac) play vinyl records of Prohibition-era jazz music that might have filled the house nearly a hundred years earlier. Having the entire place to ourselves allowed our guests to wander and explore throughout the evening, while the huge outdoor yard kept the kids happily entertained.

Thanks to Pinterest, Style Me Pretty, Etsy, etc. there is no shortage of inspiration for ways to customize every little detail of the day. But you can’t do everything, especially if you’re planning on marrying within a year, are on a budget, and have to balance wedding planning with the obligations of work and real life. So my advice is to pick a few things that you care about – things that encapsulate who you and your fiancé are and that will make you smile for years to come – and spend your time and money there.

One of those important details for us was the custom welcome map and booklet we gave to each guest in a linen drawstring bag, beautifully designed by Julie DeWalt of Gather and Co., with artwork by Maria Jourdan Rolfsen of Tupelo Honey Design. Nearly all of our guests traveled from out of town to attend our wedding, and it was important to us to share with them all of our favorite things to do and see in the town where we fell in love. The booklet included our favorite local spots, the names of our wedding party, a schedule of the wedding events, and the history of our reception venue.

Another important feature was the family-style dinner on the porch with long farmhouse tables and mismatched chairs. Stefanie at Bits & Pieces Vintage Rentals was incredible to work with, providing the chairs and even creating the tables for us. With outstanding food and service from D’Jeet? Catering (they were truly phenomenal to work with and literally put out fires at the reception), the meal brought all of our family and friends together in one delicious and memorable celebration.

We also hired a day-of wedding coordinator, and you should too. You might think you don’t need one, or that you can draft friends or family to take care of day-of details, but hiring a coordinator is essential if you truly want to enjoy your wedding day. I don’t know what I would have done without Allegra and Carolina Hewell of Hewell Events Group. From bringing us breakfast the day of the wedding to finishing decorations that hadn’t been completed to tracking down lost trolleys, Allegra and Carolina did it all and averted innumerable near-disasters.

Lastly, for all the time you spend planning everything, the reality is that the entire day will likely be a happy blur. I can’t emphasize enough how crucial it is to get a great photographer. Not just a good one, but one who really knows what he or she is doing and can capture everything quickly, beautifully, and without you even realizing they are there. It is worth the money you will spend to ensure that you will love looking at your wedding photos forever (and expect to spend at least 10% of your budget on photography). If you can possibly get NJ Wedding Photographer Vanessa Joy, do. Watching her work is amazing, and being part of her work is even better.

We’re so grateful to the many people we worked with who made our wedding such a beautiful and happy experience.

Rustic Bohemian Bridal Inspiration

Sometimes when you combine a bunch of equally wonderful ideas, the results don’t always match up. But once in awhile, you create something amazing, and these photos by Kay English are just that. A touch of romance, some gorgeous florals by Reverie Made, all with a bit of bohemian style and we have one stunning springtime shoot. Pour yourself another cup of coffee and settle in for sunny sights ahead.

From Kay English… Our inspiration for this film photoshoot was romantic, rustic, bohemian. ReverieMade.com created the gorgeous pink and red floral arrangements with velvet ribbons. We used vintage props from the Green Lace Lion, which is owned by the bride, Ellen, in this photoshoot. Ellen also owns the gorgeous farm setting and the peacock and horses. We photographed as the light was going down which gave everything a beautiful golden hue. Ellen wore two lace gowns from Shehurina, located in London. Her gowns are so romantic and beautiful for photos. After the photoshoot with the details, we went to take photos next to Ellen’s gorgeous horse and then went to the open field right during sunset where the “groom” lifted Ellen up and walked with her through the field.

From Kristin at Reverie Made… I love flowers of all kinds, but my favorite bouquets to make are soft and lush, joyful, and full of color! I included all of my current faves in this one: coral charm and red charm peonies; ranunculus in shades of nude, salmon, red and burgundy; red and chocolate cosmos; tangerine dahlias, and jasmine. I tied the bouquet with velvet ribbon and silk Froufrou Chic ribbon.

For the boutonniere, I paired white and nude ranunculus with peach hypericum berries and a sprig of mint. I used Froufrou Chic ribbon and left the ends of the knot loose, to give it a relaxed feel.

Rustic Winter Engagement Session

In honor of National Proposal Day, we’re looking at some amazing asks and this one here racked up the miles along the way, from college dorms to Dublin, to the beaches of Bermuda, where this Groom-to-be surprised his love with some sparkle. But for their engagement shoot, they settled a bit closer to home, in the woods around Batsto Village, where Judith Rae snapped away, creating this gallery of goodies here.

From the Bride-to-be… Sam and I met the very first weekend of college. We had an instant bond and spent the first year building a friendship that neither of us had ever experienced. Through that friendship, we began to fall in love and started dating the following summer. I had always dreamed of studying abroad, and we decided that it was an experience we had to share. So in our junior year of college we went to study abroad in Dublin, Ireland and have loved traveling together ever since! After three years of dating and graduating college we decided I would move to Baltimore in the fall of 2013 so we could start our next chapter. Then the day after Christmas 2013 Sam called and said he booked a “just because” trip to Bermuda in May.

We were so excited to begin our adventure in Bermuda! We took a cab to Horseshoe Bay Beach, getting to know the island from the point of view of a local, one of our favorite things to do while traveling. Once we arrived at the beach, we were taken aback by the beauty of our surroundings, and Sam suggested that we take a walk to explore. We were amazed by the beauty of the island and how blessed we were to be experiencing it together. We finally arrived at a cove where we were completely alone. It felt like we were the only people in the entire world. After some swimming and relaxing, Sam said he spotted dolphins in the distance. He handed me the camera and asked that I take photos of them. I kept snapping pictures, even though I couldn’t see any dolphins! He tapped me on the hip and as I turned around, he was down on one knee, and uttered the most amazing words, “Kelsey, will you marry me?” I enthusiastically exclaimed “Yes!” We stayed in our cozy cove for a little while longer enjoying the beautiful beginning of the rest of our lives.

Weylin B. Seymour’s Brooklyn Event Venue

There is something so unique and special about getting married in a venue that has a ton of history. Case in point — Brooklyn’s Weylin B. Seymour’s. This new (but very old) event space located at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge is located within the Williamsburgh Savings Bank Building which was completed in 1875. After an award-winning restoration that wrapped up in January of 2014, this space is now ready to host some incredible celebrations.

This breathtakingly gorgeous Beaux Arts Classical building was deemed “one of the most monumental spaces surviving in New York from the Post-Civil War era” by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Located just minutes from lower Manhattan, it features a 110-ft dome decorated with a stunning original fresco, hand-cut mosaic marble floors, bank vault with original vault door imported from France in 1872 and so much more. Truthfully, Weylin B. Seymour’s is as much a conversation piece as it is a truly unique historical venue! With room to accommodate up to 350 for a wedding celebration as well as separate spaces for ceremony, cocktails and dinner + dancing, this space is a must-see.

Top it all off with high-end menu and bar packages, a dedicated service staff and custom furniture packages offering color + style options, and you’ve got what wedding dreams are made of. For more info and to start planning your big day at Weylin B. Seymour’s, head over here.
