This Pastel Yacht Club Wedding Is a New Take on Nautical

If there’s one thing we love more than well, just about anything, it would be a pastel filled wedding. And this stunning little soiree from Love & Light Photographs certainly doesn’t disappoint. Bursting with nearly nautical details and even an adorable sunset cruise for the newlyweds, we’ve got all that and more waiting for you in The Vault!

From the Bride… When my photographer first asked me how I imagined my wedding would be, I gave her three words: Nautical, Romantic, and Magical. And as I look back on the photos and reminisce on each happy memory, I know I picked the perfect words to describe our day! Rob and I got married at Sacred Heart Church on June 10th, 2016 in Bay Head, NJ and held our reception at Bay Head Yacht Club. Because my family spends the summer in this beach town, Rob and I have come to call it our ‘happy place.’ Having the opportunity to get married at a venue so dear to our hearts was incredibly special. All of the vendors we used for our wedding day were wonderful and we were most thankful to have Details Made Simple to bring everything together for the day-of. Water Lily Designs made gorgeous flower arrangements that brought our blush color theme to life, and Love & Light Photographs captured the day impeccably! Our guests danced all night thanks to Elite Entertainment, I wish we could do it all over again! If I had to pick one special moment from the night that was my favorite, I would have to say arriving by boat to the reception. We were greeted with two glasses of champagne and by all of our friends and family! It was the best start to the best evening.

10 Must-Haves for Your Nautical Wedding

Hang around these parts long enough and you’ll quickly realize one thing: we love, love, love a nautical wedding. So today we’re breaking down a fab list of 10 Must-Haves for YOUR maritime-inspired soiree, all with the help of our friends at The Duchess.  It’s a step by step guide to that seaside affair you’ve always wanted, complete with a seriously awesome locale.  Scroll below for a look.

THE LOCALE TO END ALL LOCALES

You can’t have an awesome nautical wedding without an equally as awesome locale and when it comes to take-your-breath-away venues perfect for saying “I do” seaside-style, The Duchess is IT. Think an ultra-elegant setting with hardwood dance floors, full-service bars and stunning contemporary decor. Not to mention climate-controlled interiors and fab outdoor furniture for lounging under the stars. This is celebrating in style… and then some.

[dotted]

PRETTY PAPER GOODS

You’ll most definitely want every.single.one of your our nearest and dearest on hand to celebrate your BIG moment, so be sure to invite them to the Party of the Century with some pretty paper goods that scream Nautical Chic.  I’m talking a gorgeous suite that is most definitely seaside inspired, so your guests know they’ll need to grab those boat shoes and get ready to dance the night away, bubbly included.

[dotted]

A FUN-FILLED REHEARSAL DINNER

Rehearsal dinners are ALWAYS a good time, but a rehearsal dinner pre-nautical wedding? Sooo awesome. Think a lobster or clam bake with the cutest details, all held seaside at a crazy cool venue like the Fish Bar, Pier 81’s IT seafood lounge and rooftop.  Starting your events off right has never been more fun… or convenient.

[dotted]

CREATIVE PLACE CARDS

You can’t have a nautical wedding without some sweet rope detailing, so throwing some nods to your boating skills on your place cards is, well… totally awesome.  Not to mention that it’s a fab way to add a little touch of your theme to the proceedings without being too over the top. We honestly adore that.

[dotted]

TOTALLY AWESOME ROPE VASES

And speaking of fabulous ways to add some knot-inspired details to your Big Day… DIYing some special touches, like these amazing rope vases, is a definite MUST.  You’ll be adding a touch of personalization your guests will absolutely adore, plus you can sit back and admire your hard work the day of. It’s what we call a win-win, loves.

[dotted]

STUNNING SEERSUCKER

You know we love a stylish groom and it doesn’t get much better than a handsome Mister rockin’ some seersucker.  Whether it’s simply a suit jacket or you prefer an all-out ensemble, adding this gorgeous fabric to your Big Day lineup is a definite MUST… and throwing in that dapper bow tie doesn’t hurt, either.

[dotted]

A CRAZY COOL COMPASS

You can’t have an awesome nautical wedding without a little ode to compasses. That’s basically a fact. So why not add those sweet Save the Dates to your lineup?  They’re totally unique + seriously stunning AND set the mood the minute your guests receive them. We’re obsessed.

[dotted]

THE PERFECT GIFT FOR GUESTS

Start your guests off with the coolest compass ever and send them away at the end of the night with a little pack of helpful items for the day AFTER.  Think everything from ibuprofen to a pack of tissues to those much needed breath mints. Trust us, this is a detail your nearest and dearest will LOVE.

[dotted]

ANCHORS AWAY

Saying “I do” in a nautical wedding just wouldn’t be right without a little anchor love.  Add this must-have detailing with sweet DIY pillows, table linens or even place cards or table numbers.  Just don’t throw your Big Day bash without one.

[dotted]

YOUR ONE TRUE LOVE

Sure, you need all of the amazing details to pull off a nautical wedding, but the one thing you can’t do without? Your one true love.  Because when all is said and done, you’ll be happily sitting on one of The Duchess’ fabulous decks, staring at the breathtaking skyline that is the world’s greatest city (NYC, of course) and sipping champagne while your guests party the night away in high style. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

From Robert & Kathleen PhotographersTo hear Lindsay’s family and friends tell it, she knew that Blake was someone special really early on – not long after she had first spotted him teaching tennis at the Bath & Tennis club near her parent’s home. In fact, Lindsay knew how she felt about Blake before he had even realized that Lindsay’s interest in him was not solely based on tennis. But once he did, Blake could hardly believe his luck that he had managed to find a woman so perfect for him – smart, gorgeous and interested in so many of the same things that are important to him. So it’s safe to say that this wedding day was one that all of Lindsay & Blake’s family and friends had been excitedly awaiting. It was even more perfect than anyone could have pictured. There was rain, yes (a lot, at times) but Lindsay and Blake weren’t going to let that dampen their happiness for even one minute. They braved the raindrops for photos, held each other under an umbrella and were delighted when the rain stopped just enough for their guests to enjoy the spectacular view from the Rumson Country Club during their cocktail hour. And when Lindsay and Blake danced their first dance as husband and wife with their friends and family surrounding them on the dance floor – they could see was the joy of all the people important to them surrounding them in every direction. And their guests got to see, first hand, the love that Lindsay and Blake first found on the tennis courts so many years before.

From the Bride… I met Blake just about five years ago. I was home from grad school looking for a job and decided to take up tennis again to pass the time. My parents live in beautiful Spring Lake, NJ about a block away from the beach and walking distance the Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club, where I spent every summer of my childhood. I walked over one afternoon to sign up for a tennis lesson and, unbeknownst to me, meet my future husband. Or at least hear his voice. As I was arranging my tennis lesson, I asked the front desk manager whom I should take from. I heard a voice behind me say “Well you’ll either get the father or the son” and I immediately got butterflies in my stomach. I never knew you could fall in love at first sound. I was in a long-term relationship with someone else at the time, so I decided to go with the father. I officially met Blake a few days later when I showed up for a clinic session at the club. After two summers of flirting with each other we finally got together over Thanksgiving weekend in 2012.
Flash forward to May 21, 2016. After an engagement period of nearly two years, our wedding day was finally here. The forecast had said it would downpour the entire day so that morning I was pleasantly surprised to see that the rain had held off so far. It would rain periodically throughout the day, but that didn’t dampen our spirits. Getting married is so surreal. All my troubles seemed to melt away once I put on my Rosa Clara dress. I could do no wrong – it was as if the dress was made for me. I’m so lucky to have found it thanks to the awesome consultants at Lovely Bride in New York City.
The planning process truly was stressful, though, to say the least. It was very difficult for me to give up any creative control and so I ended up doing most of the grunt work. I had a crystal clear idea of what I wanted in my head, but finding examples online proved challenging. Pinterest and Etsy quickly became my best friends. Things seemed to be on track and this past November I hired an event planner to handle day-of logistics and help me decide on some of my outstanding vendors. At the time I still had yet to hire vendors for transportation, cake, hair, and makeup. Come February, though, it was plain to see that our relationship was not working out. She had stopped returning my phone calls and emails. Whatever was going on behind the scenes was clearly preventing her from doing her job and I unfortunately terminated our contract. Luckily Blake, along with our family and friends, really stepped up during this time and I was able to hire a fabulous day-of coordinator in Kaysie McKay of Backyard Bride Consulting. My florist Kate Duffy and my photographers Robert and Kathleen Trenske stepped up in a big way as well, giving me some great advice. Needless to say, when everything came together on our wedding day, it was a satisfaction I have rarely felt before.
My bridesmaids were absolutely stunning in their mix and match tulle dresses from Amsale, and my gorgeous sister (and maid of honor) just shined in her Adrianna Papell gown. I was a bit apprehensive about the color palette I chose but in the end the risk paid off. Shout out to the Madison, NJ branch of Bella Bridesmaids for placing the orders for us and accommodating my out-of-town girls. And of course I couldn’t be happier with my hair and makeup gals Denee and Miranda. They are so talented and I know every single one of my girls (myself included) felt beautiful that day.
The guys didn’t look too shabby either in their charcoal suits from The Black Tux. Blake rented his three-piece gray suit from The Black Tux as well. This was another risk that paid off. I had heard about The Black Tux from a co-worker of mine. She raved about how great her husband and his groomsmen looked on their wedding day. I was skeptical, but intrigued. The truth is Blake and his grooomsmen are not suit people. And I didn’t want to force them to buy a new suit they would never wear. The Black Tux was the perfect compromise. Everyone looked perfect!
Because we had over 200 guests at our wedding it was very important to me that we incorporate little touches to make each guest feel welcome and appreciated. I curated items from Etsy and Amazon to make welcome bags for each of our hotel guests. I found cute little burlap gift bags on Etsy and ordered blank gift tags on which I hand lettered a welcome message. (Quick side note: I got quite good at “faux calligraphy” as I hand lettered each save-the-date and invitation. For the wedding I finally wised up and hired a professional, MaryKate McMahon, who made the most beautiful placecards and table numbers.) Going back to the welcome bags,  I included gluten-free and vegan snacks so that everyone could enjoy along with an emergency kit (Advil, Tums, cotton swabs, makeup remover, eye drops, gum and more) just in case people overindulged. Finally, each welcome bag included brochures and booklets on things to do in the area. Blake and I love where we live and we were so excited to share this special place with our closest friends and family.
Kate, our florist, arranged for us to rent three rectangular farm tables at which sat our bridal party plus their guests. In order to make the people sitting at these tables feel extra special I ordered laser-cut wooden place settings. You will see them in the pictures. I was so pleased with the way they came out and they were such a nice keepsake for folks to take home. Additionally, we set out white pashmina scarves for people to take on a first-come first-serve basis. Since it was chilly outside these came in handy and so many people thanked me throughout the night for thinking ahead.
There were so many amazing moments that happened throughout the day its almost too many to mention! I’ll start with the ceremony. It was so meaningful for us to have our wedding ceremony at Tower Hill Church in Red Bank. This is the same church in which Blake’s parents got married and our organist even played at their wedding. Just after our first kiss as husband and wife, our pastor had us turn and face all of our family and friends. At that point I could see Blake’s mom stand up and as we began to walk back down the aisle everyone else followed suit. I know it meant the world to her that we decided to start our lives at Tower Hill and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
All of the speeches were outstanding. My dad started it off by welcoming everyone and introducing those who had traveled from afar to be with us. He then launched into the most embarrassing origin story about how Blake and I first got together. He was certainly a tough act to follow but our dear friend Theresa was up to the task. Theresa was such an amazing person for my sister and I to be around as we were growing up. She was our live-in nanny and I basically worshiped her as a child. I was so touched by the blessing she gave and so glad that everyone got to meet her.
Blake’s brother and my sister really stepped up their games and delivered heartfelt and hilarious speeches. But one of the most memorable moments of the night for me came during the father/daughter dance. My sister joined the band (the fabulous Billy Stone Band from Hank Lane) and sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. She was a musical theater major in college but I hadn’t heard her perform in about four years. She absolutely knocked it out the park.
Other highlights included my cousin walking my mom down the aisle, a contingent of students from Blake’s elementary school coming to watch the ceremony (Blake is an elementary school physical education teacher), the band singing “Read all day” the Taylor Swift parody Blake and his colleagues wrote and recorded to promote Read Across America Day last year (you can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjf7H8K9r4U), me smashing cake in Blake’s face, and Blake delivering a heartfelt speech to his groomsmen and sister immediately following cake cutting.
These moments were all beautifully captured by Robert and Kathleen Photographers. I absolutely love the amount of candids they took of all our friends and family and you can really re-live the night through the photographs they took.
Finally, I want to shout-out a couple of my amazing vendors, namely my florist Kate Duffy and my invitations designer Amy Zaleski of Invitations Ink. Kate did such a lovely job with the ceremony decorations. I especially loved the urns on either side of the raised platform filled with beautiful green and white flowering branches. She completely transformed the feel of the reception venue from preppy and nautical to romantic and whimsical. The centerpieces on the three farm tables in particular were spectacular. Our wedding save-the-date set the tone and expectations for our wedding and Amy created a wonderful watercolor of the entrance to the Rumson Country Club. We were able to re-use the image on the menu cards. It was perfect. As were our invitations. I was going for a classic, turn of the century look and she achieved it magnificently.
Blake and I will never forget our wedding day. Thanks for letting me share a bit of it with you!

From California to England + One Romantic Winter Wedding In Between

These college sweethearts’ adventures were only getting started when they first met at UCLA. Life took them to Seattle and then across the pond to England, but before they continued any farther, a classic, elegant winter wedding was put on the books. Kay English and Salt Water Studios were there to capture all the action live and the results (here in our Vault) are nothing short than stunning, thanks to the perfect planning of Mary Bradley Events. See it all this way!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/161655019 600 338]

From Mary Bradley Events… Ryan and Andy met at UCLA, where they were introduced by Ryan’s sister (and eventual Maid of Honor). The college sweethearts’ adventure truly began after graduation, with a move to Seattle for Andy’s career in professional soccer. They only called Seattle home for three years, before soccer would them send them across the pond to England (immediately following the wedding, no less!)… but Seattle is where Ryan and Andy got engaged and began planning their dream wedding.

With Ryan’s east coast roots and Andy hailing from England, Ryan’s hometown of Princeton, New Jersey seemed like the perfect central meeting spot for friends and family to share in the celebration. And it certainly didn’t hurt that Princeton University and downtown Nassau Street provided the perfect mix of classic beauty and timeless charm. This is where the bride drew much of her inspiration for the day and the entire wedding weekend.

January 2nd, 2016 turned out to be a warm winter Saturday with plenty of golden hour light, perfect for outdoor photos. Ryan wanted the reception to be classic, romantic, and elegant, but comfortable enough for the two families’ love to be the focal point.

Flowers have always been Ryan’s favorite piece of decor, so the bouquets and tables were overflowing with white hydrangeas, lush greenery, and pops of garden roses. To highlight the elegant floral, the tables were adorned with beautiful crystal candle holders and mercury glass votives, and floor to ceiling twinkle lights illuminated the gorgeous venue. The bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo gowns in two shades of a soft blue to complement the neutral palette.

This Princeton wedding was everything the couple had dreamed of and more… refined, elegant, filled with lots of beautiful lighting, classic whites and neutrals, and the most wonderful celebration of love!

Check out the bride’s blog, Cheers From The Roses, to see the wedding highlight film as well as proposal and engagement photos… and to follow along on their newlywed adventures living abroad!

A Ballroom Wedding Fit For a Princess

When wedding planner Danielle of The Stylish Detail set out to design her own big day, she knew it had to be special.  “As a planner, you sit back and watch so many beautiful love stories come to life and all of this time I have waited for my turn! It was finally here…I knew this would be my chance to create my fairytale wedding.” The result? A completely classic ballroom affair with so many meaningful details, including a video tribute to her late father during the traditional daddy-daughter dance. Dyanna LaMora captured and we’re welcoming every moment into The Vault.

MustWatch_swash-01

From the couple…

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?

As an event/wedding planner it’s so very hard to envision all of the magical details you will one day pull together as your own. Working in some of the most iconic venues in New York City, I have seen it all! From the grandeur of The Plaza Hotel to the iconic Waldorf Astoria, my dreams of a bride have always been grand! As a planner you sit back and watch so many beautiful love stories come to life and all of this time I have waited for my turn! It was finally here after almost 12 years of being together with my best friend and knew this would be my chance to create my fairytale wedding.

Scott proposed at our favorite spot in NYC, The Central Park Zoo with over 50 family and friends that secretly watched from afar around the sea lion tank. As soon as he got down on one knee and I said yes to the ring, everyone ran out to celebrate! It was the most magical moment of my life and knew the celebration to follow had to be as over the top as the proposal!

As we started to search for the perfect backdrop to our special day, I knew we needed to find a modern, yet timeless setting…all of course in NJ! I have always envisioned a black tie wedding set in a beautiful ballroom filled with candlelight. The quintessential venue would be draped in chandeliers, have a white dance floor and touches of ornate decor to create a classic affair. I knew if I took the lead in finding a venue, we would probably still be looking! Therefore, I let Scott lead the search and the minute we both stepped into his first choice, The Grove- I knew we would not have to look any further!

It was everything I had ever envisioned as a little girl, including the cascading staircase leading into the room. Over 12 chandeliers hung from the ballroom ceiling and one of the largest dance floors I have ever seen! It was elegance and charm all in one and we knew we had found our venue!

If you asked any of our friends or family, they would describe us as “over the top”! We love life and all it has to offer and would were ready to celebrate in style.

What was your color palette and style vision?

I went with a classic romance theme. Our wedding was designed on a palette of soft pastels, creams, champagnes, greys, pale pinks and a mix of gold, silver and lace. Touches of crystal detail followed on my dress and hair piece and were also carried into the bridesmaid dresses for the added glitz of the night.

I wanted to highlight the room with the custom white dance floor and added grey custom monogram for a personal touch. I also softened the room with an added chiffon drape on the far wall and projected specialty lighting to add a special ambiance to the ballroom. Together it created a backdrop that was the perfect touch to our overall décor. Warm-intimate-elegant!

Our vision was to create a timeless yet regal wedding that would not look dated 50 years from now. Beautiful bunches of tall calla lilies draped over the guests surrounded by floating flowers in mercury glass. I am also a hopeless romantic, so the touches of candlelight throughout the reception and the lace detail on my dress completed our overall vision of the night.

What unique elements or DIY details did you include?

The most unique element to me would be the white dance floor as well as the gobos projected onto the wall. In a matter of minutes, it transformed the space into something that literally took our breath away.

Another unique element was our head table. We decided, we wanted to bring our families and generations together for the first time and created a head table for 12. We have our entire lives to spend together but would never have the chance to share this moment with the ones we love most.

As I am an event designer as well, I knew I would consume myself with so many DIY and lose sight of the day. Therefore, for the first time ever I left the details and décor to the professionals and I LOVED it!

What was your favorite moment? Your favorite crafted detail?

The tribute to my father who had lost his battle with cancer was such a meaningful moment to me. I had struggled for years on how I would handle this difficult day without him and knew I would honor my dad in the best possible way. Months before the wedding, I had compiled home videos of him and I dancing and worked closely with our videographer to create a short clip to be shown that evening. It was the perfect addition to the night and knew he was in fact with me for our dance.

Tell us about your flowers, your gown, your favors, your cake, etc.

Flowers:
From the beginning I did not want to design a typical wedding. I have seen it all from the flower walls to the orchid trees. I had always envisioned a classic simple design that made an impact. My amazing florist had recommended using tall bunches of white calla lilies based in a tall fluted vase surrounded by smaller mercury glass with floating candles. It was the perfect combination of bold hues for an eye-catching display. We also did (3) long tables in a mix of rounds that surrounded the dance floor. The guests were covered in a canopy of white orchids, as pale pink and champagne colored flowers filled the tabletop in smaller vases. It was perfection in every way and exactly what I had envisioned.

My bridesmaids had carried precious bouquets of pastel colored flowers wrapped in light pink ribbon, as I carried a large bouquet of all my favorite flowers in soft pinks and creams with a small picture frame that carried my dads picture.

Gown:
The hunt was on! For months I traveled far and wide to find the perfect dress. Appointment after appointment, I thought I would never find the ONE. I was telling myself to settle because I was running out of time. However, what bride would ever settle for the DRESS! I wouldn’t and just then I stepped into the Pronovias showroom and tried on the Barquilla Gown and it happened! That twirling Cinderella moment that every brides gushes over! After that moment each and every detail just fell into place! The gown was a fitted mermaid dress in tulle with a sweetheart neckline, rebrode’ lace appliques , adorned with crystal gemstone embroidery. The bottom skirt had two layers of lace and a scalloped hem.

Cake:
We wanted a very simple but yet rustic design for our wedding cake wrapped with beautiful flowers. Palermo’s Bakery did just that! They amazed us with a four-tiered white frosted buttercream cake in strawberry and cream with the top tier in cannoli cream! I had our florist customize a lush garland accented with peonies and roses to surround the cake. Our topper completed the fairytale and stayed our theme of the day as “It Was Always You” in gold. It was perfect!

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?

Pick your venue first and then let all of the other pieces fall into place.

This Tented Reception Was Inspired by ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’

While an al fresco reception is the dream of many brides-to-be, Jane had something else at the top of her dream wedding list. Landing in at number one? A tented reception reminiscent of ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’. Thanks to the artistry of Designs by Ahn and Seniman Calligraphy, Jane and Ben’s tented reception was transformed into cinematic magic effortlessly captured by Jeremy Chou Photography. See it all in The Vault!

From Jeremy Chou PhotographyJane and Ben had an elegant outdoor wedding at the classic Hamilton Golf Center in New Jersey! Since they are both lawyers, they wanted a classic affair for their wedding. With an understated elegance. The couple went with a beautiful color palette of white & blush pink peonies. Jane wear a beautiful Monique Huillier gown and Ben wore a custom fitted classic tux.

From the Bride… Before I even started, I knew I wanted the whole vibe to be romantic and elegant, but not overly formal. When it came down to it, I wanted the guests to feel the love through the decor, the music, and through me and my husband. How did I seek to accomplish that? Well I didn’t have a wedding planner and I was restricted to venues in New Jersey because of my parents. I had two requirements: first, I wanted a tented reception because I remember watching the movie “my best friends wedding” growing up and thinking how gorgeous that reception was. Second, I wanted an outdoor ceremony because I find them to be less formal and also consistent with the romantic/whimsical vibe that I wanted. Thankfully, NJ doesn’t have too many venues that fit those requirements so when I found Hamilton farm golf club I knew it was the right place.

My favorite moment was the ceremony. We had been anticipating rain all week and all day long. It was an added stressor to the day because my ceremony was supposed to be outdoors – it’s why I chose the venue after all. The rain managed to hold all day for our gorgeous photos, but just as I was waiting to walk down the aisle with my dad, it started drizzling. By the time I had reached my husband, the umbrellas were out. I barely noticed it though because the sound of the rain drops added the most magical and romantic feeling, especially as we were saying our vows. Standing next to my husband and making our commitments to one another while being surrounded by the people we love most in the world with a gorgeous back drop… I’d say that moment couldn’t have been any more perfect. They say rain on your wedding day is good luck and hey, I got the romantic vibe I was going for.

A beautiful wedding has so many elements: the flowers, the photos, dress, venue, etc. But personally, I think what makes a wedding distinguishable are the intangibles: The love between you and your husband, the excitement and energy from the guests, the laughter you hear and the joyful tears that are shed. The details are important, but don’t forget to appreciate all the things that are invisible to the eye.

Gorgeous Gowns, Golden Sunshine, Vintage Treasures — This Inspiration Shoot Has It All

When Kay English Photography and Kristin Rockhill get together some kind of magic fairy dust must sift through the breeze because all of these gorgeous photos radiate pure joy. With gorgeous gowns, vintage treasures and stunning blooms throughout, this editorial is nothing short of magical. See all the pretty in The Vault!

From Kay English Photography and Kristin Rockhill … Brides are loving a little homespun charm for their big day and romantically re-purposed pieces are the perfect way to add a personal touch that is undeniably you!

Re-purposed and re-designed vintage props and decor are finding their way into every aspect of weddings. Everything from vintage doors, old shutters, antique bureaus and suitcases are serving a purpose. Re-claimed palette wood bars, love it! Old shutters as table runners? Why Knot? They add the perfect touch of rustic charm to your table-scape. Your grandma’s old dresser as a cake table? Sweet! Vintage double door ceremony arch? Oh so unexpected!

Check out this Styled Shoot at one of our favorite New Jersey Destination Venues, The Ashford Estate. While the ballroom is grand and the guest house is opulent, the rustic ceremony barn and scenic grounds steel the show. For this shoot we hit all the big trends including ethereal gowns, lush blooms, drapey bouquets, organic details and unexpected props, vintage decor, stunningly styled vignettes and subdued colors with opulent accents.

The star of the show is the grand bench that was created for the head table . It started as an old bed frame that was taken it apart, chopped it up and reassembled with a bench seat and some luxurious pillows the results were more then I could have hoped for! It was paired with an antique refurbished library table that was sanded and infused with gold paint to give it a little sparkle. Old dining chairs were given new life with a distressed paint technique and re-upholstered cushions. The Cake Display is one of my favorite set ups to style! For this look I went with a stack of vintage suitcases piled high for the cakes to sit on top of and framed with an antique gold frame. Some other romantically re-purposed pieces in this shoot were the china cabinet turned martini bar, tattered wallpaper, vintage door backdrop perfect for selfies and the oversized gold frame attached to vintage doors that were the perfect photo-op prop.

The gorgeous wedding centerpiece is loaded with Garden Roses, drapey greens and some of my favorite blooms including ranunculus, hydrangeas and sweet peas. I especially love the mini pears that give it the perfect touch or organic detail. See how it came to life for this styled shoot at Ashford Estate. I love setting a table with an eclectic mix of candlelight. This table-scape features glass jardin jars with votives, jeweled gold and silver votives and mercury glass votives courtesy of Vinterest Props.

We’re Majorly Crushing on This Bride’s Ombre Blush Petal-Covered Wedding Dress

Some pieces of clothing are a work of art, and Ryan’s Theia blush pink ombré petal-covered wedding dress from Lovely Bride is precisely that: a masterpiece. And it’s just the first of many in this day from Katydid Signature Floral & Event Design. From the bride’s wedding dress to the pretty pink Joanna August bridesmaids’ dresses to the lush flowers, every inch of this day is just waiting to be pinned in The Vault. Head there now to see every gorgeous detail, captured by Christina Lilly Photography.

From Katydid Signature Floral & Event DesignIt was a delightful experience working with Ryan and Dave to design a wedding for them which was as unique as they are!

Ryan’s bridal gown was white to pick ombre, and her entire “look” lent itself perfectly to a boho-chic wedding style.

They were married under the most unique and handcrafted arbor at the Spring Lake Golf Club, in front of all of the people that the love, on a sunny and gently windy day.

Ryan and Dave designed their own save the date cards, invitations, and programs. Dave’s uncle performed the wedding ceremony, and the vows read aloud were love letters which the couple wrote to one another.

The ballroom of the golf club was transformed into a warm and rustic setting. We designed an untraditional layout, with a 24’ long head table, and multi sized round tables, all which were covered in La Tavola Linens, mixed with bare farm tables. Flowers and loose garlands were on each table, with candlelight galore.
