An Autumn Estate Wedding That Overflows With Elegance

Hello gorgeous! If you love classic elegance, then this is the wedding inspiration for you. From a candlelit barn ceremony filled with greenery as far as the eye could see to a ballroom reception that will take your breath away, we are adoring every inch of this celebration! Outdoing themselves as always Faye and Renee Floral And Event Design created a fairytale experience from start to finish, and the magic of Lauren Fair Photography was there to capture it all in swoon-worthy pictures. Head on over to the full gallery, this is one you won’t want to miss!

From the bride… We envisioned the day as an elegant, timeless aesthetic with French estate glamour and an intimate feel. I always dreamed of wearing Galia Lahav on my wedding day, and it was a dream come true when I stepped into my custom long-sleeve lace gown sparkling from head to toe and draped with pearls.

We imagined a romantic, luxurious, modern fairytale ceremony dripping with green and white flowers from floor to ceiling, and lots and lots of candles. As I walked down the aisle the sun was setting, the violins were playing and the barn was overflowing with white and green flowers. It was such a romantic moment that I’ll never forget.

One of my favorite moments was when Joe and I walked into the ballroom to see the rest of my vision come to life! Faye and Renee Floral And Event Design were there to greet us and the raw emotion we had in that moment will never be forgotten, I was speechless!

A Dreamy Late Summer, Early Fall Wedding at the Ashford Estate

A rope swing covered in heavenly blooms by Sebesta Design, the most beautiful bride ever in a lace Allure Bridals ballgown and an indoor ceremony scene that will leave you SPEECHLESS- these are just a few things you can expect to see in today’s stunning wedding from Emily Wren Photography! Prepare to fall head over heels for this one, guys…

From Emily Wren PhotographyThe color palette that Winne & Alex chose for their September wedding at Ashford Estate may be one of my all time favorites! This time of year can be unpredictable when it comes to the weather— will there be a late summer heat wave or will a sudden chill take the air? So what colors do you work with?

Winne & Alex found their palette within the seasonal transition, verdant summer greens, dreamy whites and pinks slipping into coppery autumn gold and deep burgundies. The couple’s florist, Corinne of Sebesta Design, expertly married late summer with early fall. The bride’s bouquet featured curling summer vines, white lisianthus, and ruffled pink peonies alongside butternut orange roses and ranunculus, oxblood dahlias, and scarlet astilbe.

Within the estate’s immaculate barn chapel, twining vines climbed along the rafters and arrangements along the aisle curled elegantly around the chairs set for the ceremony. For the altar, Corinne designed a spectacular mantle piece to complement the bride’s bouquet. It seemed to grow from the very stones of the fireplace, spilling over the edge of the mantle and pooling over the hearthstones.

Perhaps the only thing more striking than the flowers was the bride herself! Winne wore a beautiful lace ballgown that featured a champagne blush lining and stripes of chiffon for a tiered effect. Her hair was styled in romantic loose waves and she paired her look with begonia pink heels and faintly blushing, peach sapphire jewelry! The finishing touch was a chapel length drop veil with delicate floral embroidery covering its train.

This dreamy romantic wedding sat perfectly on the cusp of summer and fall. Every detail was perfection! Winne & Alex’s day is one I won’t soon forget!!

Two Fashion Buyers Tie the Knot in Style

Let’s just say Danielle and Kyle know a thing or two about style. These two New York City fashion buyers – Danielle for Bloomingdale’s and Kyle for Ralph Lauren – knew their wedding day had to make a statement and they totally delivered. Rebecca Yale Photography captured and the gallery is a fashion lover’s dream.

From The Styled Bride and Rebecca Yale Photography….Danielle and Kyle were married on June 4th, 2016 at the Ashford Estate. Danielle and Kyle both work in New York City as buyers in the fashion industry, Danielle at Bloomingdales and Kyle at Ralph Lauren. Fashion was a very important element to them for their wedding day. They both attended NYU, but did not meet until after graduation at a local bar. The bride and groom picked the lovely Ashford Estate in Allentown, NJ as it was the perfect distance between their two families and an easy drive for their friends in New York City. The day was planned and styled to perfection by The Styled Bride. Guests gathered on a sunny Saturday afternoon and enjoyed a pre-ceremony drink in the courtyard before being welcomed into the light filled white barn, decked out in lush florals and candles by Sullivan Owen. The bride and groom recited vows they wrote themselves in matching his and her vow notebooks. Guests were invited to enjoy cocktail hour in the conservatory and out on the patio as golden hour set in. Guests were then welcomed into the reception by the Craig Scott Orchestra, which was bathed in candlelight and leafy green florals.

The estate has the elegant feel of a French chateau, which the bride and groom played into with their delicately calligraphed invitations that carried through to all the paper goods of the day- program, escort cards and menu by Written Word Calligraphy. Guests received a wedding welcome bag with a welcome letter and wedding day (and day after) essentials kit from the bride and groom. The bride wore a intricately detailed beaded gown by Monique Lhuillier with matching veil with blush and gold tones weaved in. The dress was paired with Valentino Rock Stud heels in nude to give the look a little edge and a vintage beaded clutch. The bride’s bouquet and boutonnieres created by the Sullivan Owen were soft and organic with long trailing ribbons featuring peonies, roses and blushing bride- one of the bride’s favorite flowers. The bride and groom exchanged letters and presents before the first look, the bride gifting the groom new sunglasses, which he wore throughout the day.

The bride and groom had their first look in front of the estate as their parents and wedding party watched through the large glass windows. Bridesmaids wore lovely off the shoulder grey gowns while the groomsmen looked sharp in their black tuxes. The couple honored their families by having a memory table with photographs from their parents and grandparents weddings set at a table by the entrance and a 4 of those grandparents were in attendance at the wedding. Guests danced the night away and enjoyed the old fashioned photo booth before joining the couple for a sparkler send off and an after party in the library with snow cones, hot dogs and favors of Momofuku Milk Bar truffle cake balls.

Gorgeous Gowns, Golden Sunshine, Vintage Treasures — This Inspiration Shoot Has It All

When Kay English Photography and Kristin Rockhill get together some kind of magic fairy dust must sift through the breeze because all of these gorgeous photos radiate pure joy. With gorgeous gowns, vintage treasures and stunning blooms throughout, this editorial is nothing short of magical. See all the pretty in The Vault!

From Kay English Photography and Kristin Rockhill … Brides are loving a little homespun charm for their big day and romantically re-purposed pieces are the perfect way to add a personal touch that is undeniably you!

Re-purposed and re-designed vintage props and decor are finding their way into every aspect of weddings. Everything from vintage doors, old shutters, antique bureaus and suitcases are serving a purpose. Re-claimed palette wood bars, love it! Old shutters as table runners? Why Knot? They add the perfect touch of rustic charm to your table-scape. Your grandma’s old dresser as a cake table? Sweet! Vintage double door ceremony arch? Oh so unexpected!

Check out this Styled Shoot at one of our favorite New Jersey Destination Venues, The Ashford Estate. While the ballroom is grand and the guest house is opulent, the rustic ceremony barn and scenic grounds steel the show. For this shoot we hit all the big trends including ethereal gowns, lush blooms, drapey bouquets, organic details and unexpected props, vintage decor, stunningly styled vignettes and subdued colors with opulent accents.

The star of the show is the grand bench that was created for the head table . It started as an old bed frame that was taken it apart, chopped it up and reassembled with a bench seat and some luxurious pillows the results were more then I could have hoped for! It was paired with an antique refurbished library table that was sanded and infused with gold paint to give it a little sparkle. Old dining chairs were given new life with a distressed paint technique and re-upholstered cushions. The Cake Display is one of my favorite set ups to style! For this look I went with a stack of vintage suitcases piled high for the cakes to sit on top of and framed with an antique gold frame. Some other romantically re-purposed pieces in this shoot were the china cabinet turned martini bar, tattered wallpaper, vintage door backdrop perfect for selfies and the oversized gold frame attached to vintage doors that were the perfect photo-op prop.

The gorgeous wedding centerpiece is loaded with Garden Roses, drapey greens and some of my favorite blooms including ranunculus, hydrangeas and sweet peas. I especially love the mini pears that give it the perfect touch or organic detail. See how it came to life for this styled shoot at Ashford Estate. I love setting a table with an eclectic mix of candlelight. This table-scape features glass jardin jars with votives, jeweled gold and silver votives and mercury glass votives courtesy of Vinterest Props.

From The Bride…I am a graphic designer and design guru in general, so for me, the planning was enjoyable! I knew what I wanted and I made sure I chose vendors who had the same style and taste as I did.

The wedding day was a fairytale. I know that sounds so cliche, but I was actually surprised at how magical and stress free the day went. It was a dream to me. I LOVE flowers, so going into this I knew I wanted to pay extra attention to the decor of the flowers and candles. I wanted it to feel romantic with light pale colors and touches of gold and greenery. I have a “flowy” style and I wanted that to carry through. As for the food, that was left up to Dominic since he is the chef of the family. We wanted to wow our guests with the food, since that is what we love. A giant sushi boat, Wellfleet oysters, mini mushroom bread puddings were among a few bites that guests could enjoy. To top things off, we had two food trucks pull up outside at 11:30 for the after party! No one left hungry to say the least.

Classic Estate Wedding

This is what happens when a talented team of vendors join forces with an adorable duo to create an elegant New Jersey estate wedding: absolute magic.  Think the fab stylings of Ashley Douglass meets the brilliant makeup skills of Stacie Ford Weddings meets crazy beautiful images from Robert And Kathleen Photographers.  See it all in THE VAULT right this way.

From Robert And Kathleen Photographers… Everyone that loves Megan knows one thing to be universally true: she is someone who goes after  what she wants. More often than not, she gets whatever it is that she has set her heart upon. It’s been true since she was a little girl, according to the story Megan’s father told during the reception, about a time he had taken her fishing. She was young, probably no older than eight or so, when she caught an especially large fish. As Megan tried to reel it in, her father tried to help her. But Megan wasn’t having any of it. This was her fish and she was going to get it all by herself. And she did just that. She surprised her father that day and he stood back with a mix of pride and wonder and watched her handle it all by herself.

That’s the very same focus Megan used throughout her life. It’s what has driven her to accomplish many things. Her father says that when Megan met Bobby in high school, Bobby became the next big fish that she was going to reel in. Megan loved how smart and funny Bobby was, how he made her feel whenever she was around him.  Bobby was drawn to Megan’s vibrant energy and incredible smile. They dated in high school and continued their relationship while they attended college in Boston and then established careers in New York City.

By the time their wedding day came around, Megan and Bobby had been a couple for so long that no one had any doubts that they were meant to be together. When Megan’s father escorted her down the aisle and took his place in the front row to watch as she and Bobby exchanged vows, he had a familiar look on his face – a mix of pride and wonder at his daughter, who always follows her dreams, and her heart.

SMP Blogger Bride: Meet Dressed by Jess + Engagement

Roses are red, violets are blue, and we’re counting down the days until our newest Blogger Bride says “I Do”. Say hello to Jess of Dressed by Jess, who will be sharing her wedding planning journey with us. And if  her e-sesh from Love & Light Photographs is any indication of the pretty to come, we’re all going to live happily ever after. Scroll for more because we’ve got it all exclusively in THE VAULT!

From Jess of Dressed by JessHello SMP brides-to-be! My name is Jess Galfo (well, soon to be Mrs. Soave), and I am a style blogger over at Dressed by Jess, a place where I aim to inspire others to develop a harmony between clothes and their personality. I am a romantic at heart and spend a majority of my time obsessing over feminine details. Now that I am engaged I find myself constantly wanting to flood my blog with images of all the pretty details I’ve encountered so far in my wedding planning process. I’ve held back for months, but now that the official countdown to “I do” is on, I’m excited to share that I will be taking you inside my planning process with Style Me Pretty as a blogger bride! The wedding to-do lists are lengthy and I’m looking forward to sharing some tips on how I’ve managed to keep the process upbeat and fun. Okay, maybe it’s a bit stressful at times, but in a good way.

Before I get started there’s one very important person I need to introduce you to…my fiancé, Rob. He’s the one. The one I met six years ago on an unseasonably warm evening in early March. A mutual friend made the introduction. I can still remember the exact outfits we both wore and the smile he had on his face when I opened up his car door and we locked eyes for the first time. So many thoughts were running through my mind. I was nervous. Did my hair look okay? Did I pick out the right dress? Are those flowers in the back for me? Indeed, they were. My nerves calmed down and suddenly I thought, I want to get to know him.

Although we were strangers, I felt a sense of comfort and friendship. It was as if I knew him from a past life. That evening we dined at a waterfront restaurant on the Hudson overlooking New York City. We spent hours exchanging stories, laughing, eating, and just completely wrapped up in the moment.

Several months went by of weekly meet-ups and late night phone calls. It wasn’t long before he asked me to “bee” his girlfriend. Yes, he made a crossword puzzle for me to complete that spelled out “will you BEE my girlfriend?” I said yes. The years to follow consisted of new adventures together, out of country travels, and of course, indulging in more delicious food. We both love to eat and consider ourselves big foodies. The flip side of that coin, we also both love to workout and feel healthy. It’s as if we were made for each other!

As time passed by, vacation destinations quickly started getting checked off our list. We decided to take our first European trip together last fall. The destination? Paris. I always dreamed of visiting France and Rob suggested it would be the perfect time of year to visit. Not too hot, and the summer crowds would have died down by then. I was ecstatic and began counting down the days the moment we booked our flights.

After a very long, and sleepless (too excited to shut my eyes for even a minute) red eye flight, we finally arrived in Paris. On the first day of our trip, Rob suggested we grab a light lunch before heading out to explore the city. Our first stop, Jardin des Tuileries – the beautiful garden across the river from our hotel.

After near 14 hours of total travel I told Rob I needed to quickly freshen up before stepping out. I unpacked some things and ran into the side room, which connected to the closets and bathroom. After a few strokes of mascara and a swipe of lip-gloss, I felt fully prepped to roam the beautiful streets of Paris. I peeped around the corner to let Rob know that I was ready. It was then that I saw him standing in the middle of the room. Before I could process the change in my surroundings (he had shut the blinds and was holding the most beautiful arrangement of fully bloomed roses) he was holding my hand the tightest he’s ever held it. He was talking, but in that moment everything had gone black. I could no longer hear him. My heart was beating so fast. He pulled me closer to him and then went down on his knee. At that point I could barely stand, I had wrapped my arms around him and cried.

Little did I know he secretly planned an entire week in Paris for us, and in his words, “to celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together”- that part I remember. This was such a special moment for us. One that I will never forget! Check back here soon for more insight on our big day! xx

Pink + Gray Summer Wedding at the Ashford Estate

Pink and gray can look impossibly chic, and this summer wedding at a New Jersey estate is all the proof you need. From the Bride’s rose bouquet to the bridesmaids’ sterling dresses, everything is color coordinated to perfection—even the flowers on the grounds of the estate seem to fit right in! The ultra-talented Kay English, an Ashford Estate preferred photographer, captured all the lovely details, which you can see right here!

From the Bride… Jay and I met at a softball tournament in early August. This doesn’t sound like the most romantic of meetings, however it was well planned and thought out by my sister and Jay’s sister-in-law. We casually hung out that night after the games were over and were basically inseparable ever since. Meeting Jay took me by surprise. It took a long time for me to find a so-called “nice guy” who was genuine and everything I had hoped for.

After almost a year of dating Jay completely shocked me by getting down on one knee in front of our families and asked me to be his wife. Soon after we began looking at wedding venues. We both knew we wanted a summer wedding and knew we wanted it to be somewhat local so we focused our search in New Jersey. I had been to a wedding at Bonnet Island Estate some years before and went on the website to research that venue. That’s when I came across the Ashford Estate. As soon as we pulled through the gates and drove up the driveway to the mansion I knew I had to have my wedding there. It completely took my breath away. It was elegant and romantic which is how I knew I wanted my wedding to be. Once the venue was picked we were able to focus on the details of the day itself.

The wedding dress was the first item on my list. The moment I put on the Justin Alexander ballgown I knew it was the one. The layers of organza with the beaded belt were what I’ve been picturing since I was a little girl playing bride in my parents backyard.

I didn’t have a particular theme in mind, I just knew I wanted the day to be romantic and centered around love. I focused on a color palette of soft pinks and gray. My bridesmaids wore Donna Morgan dresses in the color sterling and my flower girl coordinated in a light pink dress. The men and ring bearer were dressed in Vera Wang black tuxes. The girls and I carried light pink and white flowers with gray accents.

We had the barn chapel and the ballroom decorated with white and pink hydrangeas and tea roses, candelabras and vases. The centerpieces varied in height and the soft candlelight created the ambiance I had hoped for. Everything at the Ashford Estate was completely customizable to our tastes, from the menu to the table linens. We even chose bride and groom signature drinks, a champagne cocktail for the bride and whiskey for the groom.

I wanted to DIY some parts of the day so I had my mother make up a chalkboard program to be displayed outside the barn as well as a sign for the ring bearer (he wasn’t too cooperative in holding it), we also created place cards which doubled as our favor (silver script ‘love’ bottle openers) and had our guests toss rose petals as we exited the chapel.

The entire day felt like a dream. It was surreal and absolutely everything I hoped for. We asked my cousin to marry us. He became ordained and performed a ceremony that was the perfect combination of funny, sweet, and loving. The moment Jay and I locked eyes as I walked up the aisle I felt at ease. I knew whatever happened the rest of the day didn’t matter. After our first kiss as husband and wife we entered cocktail hour at the mansion and began our celebration with friends and family.

Our maitre’d coordinated everything perfectly with our vendors. From the moment we arrived all the way till the after party on the terrace. Our DJ kept the dance floor packed all night, we barely sat down! I am so thankful I have gorgeous photos and a video to look back on from that day because it was almost an out of body experience. It was so amazing that it didn’t feel real. I am fortunate enough to say I had my dream wedding and I married my dream guy. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Romantic Winter Wedding at The Ashford Estate

A classic winter wonderland wedding continues to rise on my list of favorite celebration styles and this one right here, photographed by Vanessa Joy, is a perfect example of why. With elegant design and some festive, fun touches (pinecones!) this wedding is romantic and cozy; what more could you ask for on your Big Day? Rob Adams Films topped it all off and I’ll be snuggled up here for the foreseeable future.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/118167761 600 338]

From Vanessa Joy PhotographyTiffany and Nick’s Ashford Estate wedding was breathtaking! The entire day took place at the Ashford where the guys looked dapper in their black tuxedos and the ladies wore Lazaro dresses and Tiffany wore a Vera Wang dress. Their ceremony was sweet as friends and family gathered to witness these two lovebirds say “I do.” The subtly winter inspired florals were grand thanks to Magnolia Floral Designs and I could not help but admire the small pinecones thrown into the mixture of white roses. The entertainment for the night was a blast courtesy of Vali Entertainment . The film above is from my husband, NJ Wedding cinematographer, Rob Adams Films, and of course, we finished our night off with an amazing night photo outside on the patio under the stars!

From the Bride… Nick and I met during our final months at Colgate University. At the time, I worked at the fitness center and every time he walked in I couldn’t keep my eyes off him. With time, I built up the courage to introduce myself and after bumping into each other a few times, he took me on our first date. Before I knew it, weeks flew by. Graduation came and went, and all I wanted to do was spend more time with him. We spent the summer drinking wine, cooking together, reading on the beach, and having endless conversations. The rest, as they say, is history.

When planning our wedding, it was important for us to highlight how romantic we are, how much fun we have with each other, and how happy we make each other. Each element, from the fairytale wedding gown to the dusty white rose petals to the vibrant band, was chosen to highlight who Nick and I are.

The inspiration for our wedding was a winter wonderland. We focused on creating an atmosphere of warmth, passion, and romance during a snowy winter night with whites, dusty silvers, and glistening golds. The ceremony was held at night in a cozy chapel entirely lit by candles. The reception, like the ceremony, was filled with fragrant white flowers and dusty millers. The entire wedding felt like a winter fairytale.

I have two favorite moments of my wedding. The first was while exchanging vows. I remember looking into Nick’s crystal blue eyes and being filled with butterflies. I will never forget the way he looked at me. The second is when we danced our first dance as husband and wife. I felt like I was in my own fairytale. In that moment, I felt everyone fade away and the only ones in the room was us. I remember his eyes, my skirt swishing back and forth, and him twirling me around. I felt like my heart swelled to three times its size.

On my wedding day I had the feeling of true happiness. I fell in love all over again every time I looked at Nick. His eyes made me feel excitement and passion. I felt hope in our future and a spiritual peace that comes from finally finding the other half of your soul.

Elegant Ashford Estate Ballroom Wedding

Time and again, Kay English steps gracefully through our weddings door and steals a little piece of my heart with one of her glowing soirees. Soirees like this one that are jam-packed with pure beauty, thanks to the team at Reverie Made who always seem to raise the bar a bit. I mean, did you see the ceremony space?! To say the result is ridiculously gorgeous is quite the understatement.

From the beautiful Bride… As soon as we started talking about what our wedding would look and feel like, we knew we wanted something classic. We envisioned a romantic and elegant affair, filled with loved ones smiling and dancing the night away. That’s exactly what the amazing ReverieMade created and brought to life on our big day. Led by Owner and Creative Director, Kristin Polhemus, our theme was apparent through and through.

The Ashford Estate was our venue which helped set the stage for the elegance we wanted. To us, the location was perfect because our families didn’t have to travel too far. My family is from South Jersey and my husband’s family is from North Jersey, so we met in the middle in Central Jersey where the venue is located. Special also is the cemetery just 5 minutes down the road from the estate where my grandmother and grandfather on my mother’s side lay. Knowing they were there in spirit meant the world to us.

We selected the last Saturday in September which turned out to be the most gorgeous day we could have asked for – sunny and 80 degrees with a slight breeze. We loved the idea of our guests being in the same location for ceremony, happy hour and reception. Our ceremony was brief, officiated by a family pastor, and guests walked just 20 steps from the chapel to the cocktail hour in the estate followed by the reception which was just 20 more steps to the grand ballroom.

We absolutely loved seeing our guests roam the beautiful grounds at the estate, enjoying all the little details that were sprinkled throughout, from the gorgeous flowers to antique furniture to our unique table linens, all paired with some special homemade touches done by my own (very creative and crafty!) mother. To end the night, my husband had the cool idea of adding arcade games to the after party. (Who doesn’t want to dance to a DJ while playing StreetFighter?)

It was the perfect day to celebrate our love and the start of our lives together. A dream come true!

Traditional Ashford Estate Wedding

Traditional with a touch of bright pink is always an amazing combination, but pair that up with a fabulous locale like The Ashford Estate and all bets are off, lovelies.  This is one crazy cool wedding.  I’m talking beautiful blooms by Petal Pushers and Magnolia, an adorable bride and groom and one heartwarming moment after another captured by The Studio Photographers.  See them all here.

On a mid-summer July day, you never would have thought the day would turn out so perfect! Welcome to the nuptials for Ally and Chris, Massachusetts residents who returned to the bride’s home state to tie the knot. Inspirations were a natural elegance, soft colors, vintage inspiration- leave out the bling (maybe just a little)! Guests were greeted at the Barn Chapel of the Ashford Estate with fresh juice in mason jars, program fans, and handkerchiefs for the ladies to keep cool in this non air-conditioned space. Luckily the temperature stayed tolerable and the rain and clouds parted just as the ceremony began. Guests also were entertained by a string trio playing the couple’s favorite tunes like “Don’t stop Believing” by Journey and some Grateful Dead re-creations. Celebrant Beth Palubinsky created a unique ceremony filled with personal touches and a hand fast ceremony where the couple’s mothers wrapped their hands symbolizing their union.

Guests were escorted to the cocktail hour in the Ashford Estate Atrium with Passion Fruit Martini’s. Favorites included a seafood raw bar with crab claws, oysters, chilled gazpacho with shrimp, raw tuna flat bread with truffle oil and a risotto station. Main Street Fine Catering was able to meet all requests and expectations.

The bridal party entered the reception dancing to Prince and the rest of the night was magical. Entrée options of mahi mahi or filet mignon were a hit. The party went for house dancing to a 10-piece band, Night Moves.  Special touches: in place of guest books, table numbers were mini guest books for the couple to open at every anniversary. Allentown Wedding from Robert & Kathleen Photographers

Just when you thought this wedding couldn’t be any more absolutely amazing, you learn that the couple began their courtship eight years ago, at their prom. I mean, really. Does it get any sweeter than high school sweethearts tying the knot in a wedding so beautiful it touches your soul? No it does not. Put Robert & Kathleen Photographers behind their lens’ and let the beauty unfold – and then put it in a gallery for all of us, and you’ve got yourself a wonderful gift today!

He asked, and I said yes.  Justin and I were going to our senior prom together after years of just being friends throughout high school.  And from that point on, we just knew.  So when he asked again, I couldn’t be more thrilled to say yes – just shy of six years from our original prom date.  But this time he surprised me.  If there’s one thing Justin takes pride in, it’s the fact that he was able to successfully surprise me with his proposal.  It was such a personal moment filled with love, and such an intimate reflection of our relationship, which set the tone for our wedding.

We wanted our day to be a reflection of our love for each other, surrounded by our friends and family.  We knew we wanted it to feel like us and the rest of the details would fall into place. Classic elements, with some vintage andtraditional touches, served as the inspiration for the tone of the day.  Many long hours of flipping through bridal magazines with my mom and best friend, Haley, served us well as every element spoke to something that Justin and I loved.

I knew finding the venue would be my biggest challenge.  With both of us residing in New York City, the stunning setting of rural New Jersey where we grew up was the ideal backdrop.  We wanted to invite everyone home with us, and ultimately, the Ashford Estate, which was discovered by my mom, had all of the elements we were looking for.

Overall our wedding was beautiful, gorgeous and couldn’t have been any more perfect and our favorite moment from the day was the few minutes we had to ourselves as we took our portraits.  I saw an ad from Tiffany & Co. with a gorgeous tree-lined driveway, and I knew I had to have a natural background as the setting for our photos.  Our portraits in the field are the perfect reflection of our love, and those images beautifully captured the joy and the excitement of the day.

My one piece of advice is to fall in love with your vendors – each and every one of them.  I took my time finding every one, as each person we worked with was an extension of our family that day.  Rob & Kathleen won me over with one stunning portrait of a father seeing his daughter for the first time – they captured just that exact same sentiment between my parents and me as we got ready, which are some of my favorite shots of the day.

The Ashford Estate Wedding Inspiration from The Studio Photographers + MDS Floral Designs

Antiquing and thrifting isn’t for everyone. But for those of us who can’t help but stop at the nearest Estate Sale Saturday morning, to hunt down the prettiest, most special little additions to our homes, it comes only natural to plan a wedding around the seriously loved treasures we find. MDS Floral Designs is in the same boat as I when it comes to this love of all things recycled. When The Studio Photographers sent over an inspiration shoot they worked on with MDS, centered around the French Countryside and thrifting, I could. not. get. enough. So I loaded up the gallery and got ready to share my new obsession with you!

From The Studio Photographers … Michelle from MDS Floral Design created a spectacular scene. She’s a thift store junky and loves vintage furniture pieces with “good bones” to refurbish. The ornate table and velvet chairs where the perfect match for the shabby chic look she was going for. With the mix of old and new, and the old barn setting , it all just fell into place. The thrift store antique pitcher and sugar bowls blended perfectly with the flowers and the china, which was donated by our stationary designer’s Grandmother.
