This Bride Just Transformed Her Bridal Boots from Cowgirl to Couture

There’s nothing more romantic than tying the knot at the very place your love story began. For this couple, that special place is the groom’s family ranch in Montana. The bride visited the ranch for the first time when she was just fifteen years old (how cute is that?!), now, many years later, they are exchanging vows in the same spot. I mean, it just doesn’t get much sweeter than that. The entire day went off without a hitch thanks to Katalin Green Events. The decor was simple yet elegant, with a classic palette of green, white and neutrals. Take in this breath of fresh air at the full gallery, captured by Orange Photographie.

OH, but before you go any further – watch this can’t-miss film from Robert Michael Films of their Big Day! Just make sure you have some tissues close by for the happy tears that are about to come your way. [iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/302595802 600 250]

From the Bride… My husband Geoff and I were married this past July on his family’s ranch in Southwestern Montana. His grandparents moved there in 1955 and it’s been in the family ever since. Geoff and I met in high school so the first time I visited the ranch was when we were just fifteen years old. Since then we have shared so many fond memories there riding horses, feeding the cows, hiking, camping out under the stars and being with family. It’s a truly breathtaking landscape so when it came time to start planning we couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. With the closest hotels being 30 mins away from the ranch, it was quite a feat to organize lodging and transportation for all our guests (read: yellow school buses!) But it was all worth it to be able to tie the knot in such a special and secluded spot with the most incredible backdrop of greenery and mountains.

For the ceremony site, we chose one of our favorite spots on the property near a lone willow tree in a hay field overlooking Paradise Valley. Our taste is simple and elegant and we wanted to let the magnificent Montana scenery speak for itself so we stuck with a color palette of white, greens and neutrals for all our details from our invitation suite to our florals and bridesmaids all in white.

We opted for tipi tents for our cocktail hour bar and our pre-wedding ceremony tent where we signed our ketubah and worked in a few nods to the West with locally-inspired cocktails and cuisine such as a “Sage Margarita” and elk satay skewers and the groomsmen all in black jeans and cowboy boots. I chose a romantic lace dress from the Israeli designer Berta and customized a pair of white Madewell ankle boots by having them overlaid with the lace from my dress.

The reception followed just up the road at beautiful neighboring guest ranch where we dined and danced in a sail tent on the lawn. It had been raining the whole week before our wedding, so the grass was unbelievably lush and green for July in Montana, which was such an amazing gift.

We kicked off the week of celebrations by bringing our guests to the famous Livingston Rodeo for an all-American 4th of July and a BBQ rehearsal dinner the following night at the Old Saloon in Emigrant with an amazing Country/Bluegrass band from Jackson Hole.

All in all, it was the most magical week of our lives that we will cherish forever.

Magical Winter Wedding Inspiration at Foster Creek Farm in Big Sky

Attention all winter brides – this one’s for you! Today’s inspiration shoot captured by Larissa Cleveland Photography with design from Habitat Events is bringing so much life to winter in Big Sky. Habitat Floral Studio’s arrangements took the warmth of a winter sunset and turned all those cozy, romantic feelings into a bouquet. This shoot is complete with an intimate bonfire, a reception dripping in candlelight and a surprise visit from a four-legged friend! See all the magic unfold below…

From Larissa Cleveland PhotographyWhen the evenings start to turn dark a little earlier and the weather begins to hover around the freezing mark we start to crave everything cozy: soft furs, intimate fireside dinners, and loads of candlelight. Most couples opt for an indoor ceremony with a slope-side feel during the winter months but there is something magical and unconventional about setting a cozy prairie scene under the winter sky.

The prairie landscape lends so much inspiration with it’s range of brown and caramel hues, providing a prefect warm backdrop complete with tufts of grasses peeking out from the snow. We wanted to play off this neutral palette and bring in complimentary tones with just a hint of the deeper almost black hues you see in the landscape this time of year; some might consider these elements stark but to us it is what makes this time of year special.

The design inspiration is pulled directly from the landscape. From the hand sketched invitations, the Montana inspired water colored sugar cookies in the welcome gifts, to the natural earthy grasses and branchy pods used in the floral pieces; we wanted all roads to lead back to the open sky and a Montana wintery scape. Early winter sunsets are perfect for a ceremony glowing with candlelight as the sun falls behind the hills.

To enhance the setting, piles of Mongolian sheep furs and cozy blankets accented the rustic wood benches. We used impactful blooms combined with textural woody stems, like magnolia branches, to really take the landscape outside and pull those elements into the florals.

The reception space was nestled up to a beautiful fireplace, perfect for an intimate meal. The tablescape combines delicate elements such as hand-died silk napkins with textural pieces like the leather place cards and aged pewter chargers to create that sweet spot where the soft and rustic mingle together. That same inspiration carried over to other elements such as the cake, which had a subtle embossed feel similar to the snowy hills surrounding the reception barn. And, of course, no Montana evening would be complete without cocktails by a bonfire!

Saying I Do in Snowy Winter Mountains Never Looked So Pretty

One of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever attended was in mid-winter during the most beautiful snow storm. There’s nothing quite as magical as bridal portraits with white blanketed backdrops like this, and I’m reliving that charm today with Simply Sarah Photography and Bash Bozeman with every bit of this cold-weather beauty. See more in The Vault!

From Simply Sarah PhotographyInspired by the raw beauty of the Rocky Mountains, Kait Constanti of Bash Bozeman and I decided to pull together this wintery wedding inspiration in the mountains of Montana. We wanted to provide brides to be with unique mountain wedding inspiration, as most Montana weddings take place in the prime of the summer season. Kait took our concept and turned it into something exquisite! We drew from the subtle smoky wintry hues of the mountains, and landed on dove grey and serenity blue (one of the Pantone colors of the year) as our colors. Rose quartz, the other Pantone color of the year, ended up making a cameo as well in the florals crafted beautifully by Labellum. We used both elegant and natural elements to create something that shows a softer and more romantic side to the traditional rustic mountain weddings. In the end, the shoot was an incredible success, and made me so excited for all our beautiful mountain Rocky Mountain weddings this year!

Winter Wedding Lovers, This One Is For You.

Admittedly, I am a summer wedding lover—but one look at this bit of cold weather beauty from Belle GardensGreenwood Events and Orange Photographie and I’m ready to trade sand for snow when it comes to saying I do. From the piercingly beautiful gem to the ribbon-wrapped cake, you can find me cozying up to every inch in The Vault.

From Belle GardensI had the privilege a few weeks ago to sit under the instruction of some very dear friends Samantha and Reid, of Orange Photographie in Bozeman, Montana. Not only did they share with me a love for film but they set me in a direction of never going back to digital. These images are as a result of a shoot they designed and put together just for me. I have longed to shoot in the beauty of my hometown Montana, and especially covering the most important day in a beloved couples lives. I have named this shoot, Loves Snow White Rose.

Through the veil of the cool mist
my eyes met yours and made a tryst
a promise that our hearts will blend
and our love shall last till the end
over the hills you disappear
and in my dreams reappear
O my delicate snow white rose
ensconced in my poems and prose
O my delicate snow white rose
emanates from my heart a cadence
that resonates with your heavenly fragrance
All the barriers I shall break
My life I shall put on stake
Until I merge with you one day
To be with you forever I pray
From my life please don’t vanish
let our love never diminish
petals of your love I shall always cherish
O my delicate snow white rose

Our models John and Ingrid are a real married couple and we shot the their portraits on the river where John proposed to Ingrid. I adore the words of the poet, John, as he parallels the snow white rose to the love of his life., Ingrid. Montana a vast state with cold winters but a beauty that cannot be denied could also be that snow white rose, a longing to be in her resident once again. Nonetheless, the poet speaks of deep love for its subject.

The first portion of our shoot we captured Ingrid preparing to meet her love John in a beautiful robe and veil from A Girl With A Serious Dream. Our lovely engagement ring was also a feature from Susie Saltzman, and stunning it is. We then captured romantic details of a stunning table in blues, rosy mauves, creams, whites, and grays. These colors only seem fitting because of the snow covered landscape. While we were shooting the snow came down in huge flakes as it so often does in Montana in the spring, only to melt away after a couple of hours. We were then off to the river where the formals were shot, where John originally proposed. The rose has come full circle and life has been burst forth from these two sharing each other’s love and life forever!

Two Trends You’ll See Everywhere This Wedding Season

Floral-free bouquets and mega modern gowns, two trends we’re forecasting as the next big thing this wedding season. And if this inspiration styled by Bash Bozeman is any indication of the pretty we’re about to (hopefully) partake in then consider it game over, because we’re completely obsessed. Thankfully, Orange Photographie was ahead of the curve and captured it all to share in The Vault!

From Bash BozemanWhen Samantha from Orange Photographie approached me about designing this shoot, she included the verbiage ‘modern’, ‘clean’ and ‘romantic.’ From there, I had a schematic design dreamt up pretty quickly as that’s the aesthetic I lean towards. I took inspiration from the contemporary fashion designer Acne, yet approached it with a more romantic look in mind, adding the dark lip as seen on many runways for Spring of 2016. I wanted the overall feel to have a solid juxtaposition of clean lines through the styling of the model, while ensuring the bouquet offered some softness — hellebores have a way of making a bouquet immediately feel feminine. The concept of this shoot came out perfectly on all ends and I’m both thrilled and humbled with the talents behind our ‘Modern Romance’ shoot.

Modern + Elegant Montana Bridal Session

When you take a gorgeous couple and place them in an equally as stunning scene, the results are pretty much stop-everything-you’re-doing-and-stare worthy. And when the cute couple modeling for Danford Photography also happens to be some real life newlyweds, the love is palpable. Wearing an ethereal Leanne Marshall gown from Velvet Bride, this lucky lady posed with her new hubby with the amazing Montana views in the background – see it all this beauty this way!

From Danford Photography… My wish for this editorial was to focus on elements I always find myself drawn to: modern simplicity, gorgeous landscapes, and a true connection between two people. This Leanne Marshall Designs dress perfectly fit the vision, with its simple bodice and ethereal layers of soft silk chiffon, and was complemented by a beautiful bouquet with draping greenery. Our models, who are real life newlyweds, are so in love with each other, which made them so sweet to photograph! We loved photographing them in the gorgeous natural setting that is our home: wild, beautiful Montana.
