A Glamorous Oceanfront Destination Wedding at Solaz Los Cabos

Grab your sandals and your passports ’cause we’re whisking you away to the white sandy beaches of Mexico for this glamorous oceanfront wedding! From the intricate geometric design details inspired by the venue’s architecture to the modern color scheme of marigold, blush, copper, and crème… every moment of this day is wow-worthy! Lynette Dow of Amy Abbott Events had the events running flawlessly while Jana Williams Photography captured all the can’t-miss details, see all the beauty below!

How did you choose your wedding venue?

From the Bride… Our planner Lynette knew we were looking for an outdoor venue, with modern aesthetics. Solaz was still under construction, but she knew it would be a perfect venue for us. I got goosebumps, and teary-eyed as soon as we walked on to the Calypso Terrace.

Did your wedding have a theme? If so, how did you choose it?

I had a color palette in mind and look/ vibe I wanted. I was trend shopping for work a few months before we got engaged and saw a beautiful mix of marigold, blush, copper, and crème tapered candles displayed with soft linens, so when Ted and I got engaged I knew that had to be the color palette! Something about those color against the turquoise ocean backdrop made my heart melt. I wanted a chic and elegant mix of modern and boho. The vibe was fresh, bright, and modern wedding. Britt, our wedding invite designer was inspired by the architecture of our venue and incorporated a geometric pattern on the invite. We used the geometric pattern and delicate tassel as part of the décor accent throughout.

Did you incorporate any religious and/or cultural traditions into your ceremony?

Part of our ceremony was bilingual in English and Spanish. We also included the Lasso Ceremony; the lasso is placed around the bride and groom’s shoulders to symbolize their everlasting union. We used the same lasso that bound my parents on their wedding day 40 years ago. It was one of my favorited moments.

How did you choose your table decor?

I love tabletop! I had a vision in my head and Lynette just got it. We visited several rental companies and put together the perfect mix of modern, glam, and boho. The pampas install was the show stopper!

Tell us your fave moments of the day!

1. Walking down to our big welcome bonfire. I was so nervous/ anxious but as soon as we saw all of our friends and family cheering, laughing and ready to kick off the weekend. I instantly felt all the love and excitement for us.

2. Walking down the aisle was magical. I had a great laugh and a particular moment with my dad a few seconds before we started walking down. My eyes instantly connected with Ted. I could see he was teary-eyed and I mouthed to him “I love you.” It felt like for a second it was just the two of us. When our eyes meet it brings me all the peace, security, joy, and warm fuzzy feelings I need.

3. The fireworks were amazing! It was an explosion of all love and excitement shared by our friends and family. If you could sum up your wedding day in one sentence, how would you describe it? It’s like the best dream I’ve ever had. I wake up and want to go back to sleep hoping to relive it. Seriously, pinch me!

Rustic Boho Chic Farm Wedding in Mexico

If Kate Moss and the Country of Mexico collaborated, we think it would equate to this incredibly CHIC wedding. Don’t believe us? Just take one glance at the gallery from Anne Blodgett Photography and we have a feeling you’ll be hard-pressed to argue otherwise. Because tucked away in the beautiful mango groves of Flora Farms, TJ + Cristina’s planned the ultimate intimate wedding and we’ve got it all right here.

From Anne Blodgett PhotographyTJ + Cristina’s intimate wedding was tucked away in the beautiful mango groves of Flora Farms in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico (although their first look was at the hip and trendy Hotel el Gonzo a few minutes away). The bride’s effortless lace dress from Spell Designs in Australia fit the laid back vibe (the bride was inspired by a boho theme), and Amy Abbott Events executed the ceremony and reception perfectly with modern, yet farm-to-table flair. The bride crafted several decor items herself, including the table numbers and seating chart. She was particularly excited about the Mexican tile favors she found for each of her guests to take home.

We Dare You Not to Fall in Love with This Colorful Cabo Wedding

This gorgeous bride begins her and her hubby’s love story with “We believe in love at first sight.” After seeing her Cabo wedding, so do we. It all started with the bouquet. From there, sweet details — from maracas to a very cute donkey to fab fashions (including Plum Pretty Sugar robes and a Jenny Yoo wedding dress) — made us fall harder. And the gorgeous reception with rentals from Del Cabo Event Design sealed the deal. Feel the love, thanks to photos from Sara Richardson Photography, in The Vault!

From The Bride… We believe in love at first sight. Sometimes you just have to look at each other for a long time. It all started New Year’s Eve 2010 when I arrived back home in Los Angeles after a holiday getaway in Mexico. Upon arriving home my sister introduced me to a handsome lumber sexual named Matt who quickly got on my last nerve while rushing me to get ready for the night. After a few cocktails and a lot of laughs my dislike for Matt quickly subsided and the night ended with our first kiss on 1/1/11.

A great friendship was born that fateful New Year’s Day but it would be a few years before Matt and I would start our forever. In the spring of 2013, at my best friend’s birthday party at Goal Sports Bar, Matt and I realized we liked each other a lot, like we were falling in love (awe, we’re so cute! Kidding not really kidding!!). Two years later at the very same spot, on April 28th, 2015, I said “YES!” when Matt proposed at Goal on Taco Tuesday (duh!) and we set out on our greatest adventure.

From the very beginning we new we wanted a destination wedding so that we could enjoy a long weekend with our closest family and friends away from life’s daily distractions. Enjoying quality time, having fun and making memories with loved ones was our main goal heading into the planning of our big day. So when I looked into a recommendation I received from my aunt for the Cabo Surf Hotel in San Jose del Cabo, MX, I immediately new without a doubt I had found the perfect location for our intimate wedding weekend. We really wanted a beach front wedding and with my awesome dad being wheelchair bound we had very specific needs. The layout of the hotel with the beautiful ocean front garden for the ceremony was absolutely perfect! I grabbed my computer with somewhere close to 25 tabs open, all of the Cabo Surf Hotel, showed Matt and we instantaneously said I do to our wedding venue and now our new favorite place!!

Cabo Surf is amazing and I can’t say enough about their wonderful staff and the exceptional level of service they provided. The property is absolutely beautiful too, with 36 luxury beach chic guest rooms, a delicious restaurant, fabulous spa, great amenities and stunning views of the Sea of Cortez. The hotel’s intimate setting really made for an amazing wedding weekend both for us as well as our entire wedding party and all of our guests. We were so comfortable and relaxed and so well taken care of that we had nothing to do but enjoy ourselves. It was everything – the place, the people, the love – just everything! It was truly the best weekend of our entire lives!!

Martha Lomeli is the hotel’s fabulous wedding coordinator and a patient saint. We planned our wedding in a fast and furious 4 months and Martha did a phenomenal job. Martha was instrumental in pulling off not one but two sensational parties. We really wanted all of the people we love, who traveled to Mexico for our wedding, to get to know each other before our big day so we decided to throw a welcome bonfire beach party for all of our guests on the first night and it was the perfect way to kick off such a tremendous and unforgettable wedding weekend. When you are doing a destination wedding in a foreign country, it is absolutely crucial to find someone who can make great recommendations for local vendors. Martha expertly guided us through making all the decisions for our big day. She recommended and helped us select our wedding dream team including our photographer, florist, DJ, and so much more. Martha helped us with everything from selecting my hair and make-up artist and our wedding menu to setting up yoga for the whole party, tying “gracias” tags on our guests’ gifts and booking the showstopper – Lolo the donkey. She was an absolute pleasure to work with – Martha is amazing!

Having beautiful photos of what we knew was going to be the best day of our entire lives was of the utmost importance to us. While literally looking at every Los Cabos wedding featured online, Matt and I were continuously drawn to photographer, Sara Richardson’s beautiful natural photos and knew immediately that we had to have her capture all the special moments on our big day. From the beginning Sara helped us above and beyond a photographers normal role and worked with us to craft our wedding day schedule and provide a seamless flow throughout the evening so we could celebrate and still get all the photos we wanted. Based on Matt and my desires to be able to enjoy as much time with our loved ones at the wedding as possible, Sara suggested a ‘first look’ photo shoot prior to the ceremony. At first it seemed weird to go against tradition but then again Matt and I wanted our day to be totally “us” and we loved the idea of a special moment prior to the ceremony to help put us in a relaxed and loved up mood before heading down the isle. Plus let’s be real we really wanted to join our guests for the second half of cocktail hour. The first look turned out to be one of our favorite moments, it was so special. The pictures are incredible. We can’t thank Sarah and her husband Ramon enough! They captured every single moment of our special day and the photos are perfect, absolutely gorgeous!!

The wedding day itself was unbelievable – absolute perfection! In keeping with the theme of our big day being all about us, we decided to ask Matt’s gregarious cousin to officiate our ceremony. Jeff was a huge hit and set the tone for what would be the most fun, meaningful and memorable day of our entire lives. The flowers designed by Pina Hernandez were beyond perfect. The effortless natural flow of Pina’s arrangements in addition to the vibrant pops of color and fresh greens looked absolutely stunning against the natural beauty of Los Cabos. Our wonderful friend Helen Fukkari, owner of Pocket Full of Sunshine Styling, is a phenomenally talented artist and designer. Helen did such a magnificent job with all of the paper goods and signage for our wedding as well as advising us on how to tie together all of our wants into a picture perfect wedding motif that was distinctly us. She was crucial to our sanity during the whole process and put up with my excruciating overanalyzes of every little detail. Helen held my hand and expertly helped me add all the special touches like the piñata guest book, photo table, our special little stars and more to help fulfill our vision. In additional to her beautiful designs, Helen jumped in on our weeding day and made sure every detail was perfectly executed by all of our vendors. As with any wedding day, there a few minor surprises and Helen was masterful in keeping Matt and I calm and focused on what the day was all about, as Matt says, “Helen was like Chuck Noll on Superbowl Sunday and she had her game face on!”

The delicious food and impeccable service at the 7 Seas Restaurant was unparalleled. The white lights covering the palapa roof and the special star lanterns added a warm glow to the breathtaking scene. The speeches made by my bridesmaids, my sister Sarah and my childhood bestie Jenna, as well as Matt’s best man, his best friend Julien – were all outstanding. Each speech was personal, poignant and hilarious – simply stellar. Our nieces and nephews at the children’s table were thoroughly entertained by the special art sets put together by my sister in-law Marina in honor of our precious angels as well as the Lulu & Leo Fund and ChooseCreativity.org. Our wedding cake, a two tiered lemon cake with fresh blueberries and a cream cheese frosting, was delectable and we loved our cake topper designed by Wedding Go Paper Co because it was so us and included our dog – our precious little love, Bentley.

One of the highlights of our wedding was the dance party. DJ Teeven provided the perfect soundtrack for the most important day of our lives. Music is very important to both of us and we really struggled with it. The music was fantastic from start to finish and Edwin really listened to us when we communicated our likes and dislikes and was able to deliver a non-traditional music format that was unique to us. There was not a single song played at our reception that didn’t have people on the dance floor dancing like no one was watching. Our reception was an absolute blast and DJ Teeven deserves a huge thank you for getting everyone in the spirit for celebrating (The bartenders didn’t hurt the cause either!).

In the end all of our guests had one of the best nights ever. We laughed, we danced and we celebrated love. The only time the party stopped was when baby turtles began to hatch (totally out of season!) on the sand and made their way to the sea. The baby turtles were a profound symbol of life, love and new beginnings. Our wedding was in fact the best day of our lives and will forever be one of our favorite memories. BEST DAY EVER!!

Romantic, Boho Chic Cabo Destination Wedding

If you’re in need for a little Monday pick-me-up, look no further than Erin and Shawn’s bohemian chic destination wedding in Cabo. With pretty white lace details, gorgeous flowers accented with lush greenery, gold accents throughout and rustic wood elements, this day was meant to be pinned. See all the gorgeous details from Ana & JeromeDel Cabo Event Design and Amy Abbott Events in The Vault!

From The Bride…Our inspiration for the wedding was “Bohemian Chic” mixed with rustic elements. The outcome of that was pretty white lace details, flowers mixed with greens, gold accents, and rustic wood pieces (menu, table numbers, and king tables/chairs). I wanted the decor to be pretty yet comfortable at the same time. It was also very important for us to incorporate both cultures (Indian and American) by including Indian traditions in the Ceremony and the Reception. For example, the presentation of the Manthrakodi (blessed Sari given to me by Shawn’s parents during the wedding) and the thali which are threads from the sari tied around my neck symbolizing that we are now formally a couple.

Shawn and I met in Chicago a little over 6 years ago…he worked at an Advertising agency and I worked at a Magazine/Publication. My boss and I took Shawn and his team out for dinner and drinks. I gravitated towards his warm smile and kind demeanor…we started dating a couple months later and the rest is history :)

Shawn proposed to me in Cabo on Cinco de Mayo in 2014 which is why we wanted to get married there…it is a very special place for us and we couldn’t wait to share it with our family and friends. Our 6 year anniversary was the night before our wedding and I went to school in San Diego and the second I saw The Cabo Surf hotel I knew that was the venue…felt like a little bit of home mixed with everything that makes Cabo special.

From Amy Abbott EventsErin wanted a low key boho flow wedding. The bride and groom hail from Chicago and were planning a wedding while changing jobs, moving into the suburbs and it was all quite a juggle. All of this was on of the reasons they made a decision to have a destination wedding. Erin presented us with a well organized Pinterest board and we took over from there.

They loved the hip and simple sophistication of the Cabo Surf Hotel, and chose that as the place for their reception and for their guests to stay. The whole feel of the weekend with everyone at one space made is relaxed and almost like staying at one giant villa.

Erin and Shawn were married in the Mission San Jose Church and came back to the hotel for the cocktail and reception. The Flowers by Pina Hernandez were simply breathtaking and Erin and Shawn chose hand painted rustic wood, re-purposed from the beach as their bohemian inspired place cards. The flow of the evening was magical and a good time was had by all.

Colorful San Jose Del Cabo Wedding at Cabo Surf Hotel

Bright and vibrant this Cabo Surf Hotel soiree is a destination wedding dream come true. Seen through the lens of the uber talented Sara Richardson Photography, every image sitting pretty in this gallery is pin-worthy to say the very least. And you can get to pinning here.

From The Bride…Keith and I both love to travel and have enjoyed visiting new destinations and old favorites often. When we got engaged in San Jose del Cabo on a trip with friends over New Years Eve, we knew that we wanted to come back to Cabo for our wedding. It was a very busy time of year for Keith and I so we knew we needed to find a coordinator in Cabo for help in planning. After looking through more websites and wedding profiles than I care to admit, we decided to work with Amy Abbott and her team. Thank god we did! Amy listened to me describe how I imagined our wedding weekend and the experience for all of our guests and she made it happen. For us it was important to get married in the Catholic Church and have our reception at a hotel that was more intimate and give our friends and family a weekend that showed them all that Cabo had to offer. Within 2 weeks we had booked the Mission de San Jose del Cabo and Cabo Surf Hotel that she recommended without having seen either!

All the planning was going great until Hurricane Odile made a direct hit on the Cabo area two months before our wedding and during the week we were supposed to do our only planning visit to Cabo. There was not a lot of information coming out of the area other than the disaster zone pictures on the news and our planning trip was cancelled since the airport was so heavily damaged. We had to make a decision whether we were going to move forward with our wedding as planned, reschedule for a later date or try to plan for something closer to home for the same date. We finally decided to continue as planned and knew that we would need to just “go with the flow” when we got there. We knew it was a risk since we would not see the church or hotel before the wedding, they didn’t know what kind of flowers they would be able to get and we would have not met any vendors but we wanted to support the larger community of Cabo and the resilience of the people there rebuilding after the hurricane.

Going forward with the wedding was the best decision ever! Cabo Surf Hotel had suffered little damage and was beautiful when we got there! Many other hotels had too much damage so all of our guests ended up staying at Cabo Surf and we filled every room in the hotel. It was like we had rented our own 32-room house for the weekend! With the help of Amy Abbott and her team we were able to still give our guests a weekend and wedding to remember! Everything from the beautiful beach bonfire welcome party on Thursday night to the romantic candlelit rehearsal dinner Friday night and the late night pizza after the reception made sure the fun just kept going. The wedding day felt so calm and relaxed because of Neysa and Leo from Blanc Salon were so great in beautifying me and my bridesmaids that we were actually ready early! I refer to the reception as the best surprise party I’ve ever had. Since Keith and I weren’t able to be too specific due to uncertainty in Cabo, we left a lot of the design details up to Amy, our florist Pina and Martha from Cabo Surf. The tables were perfect family style set up surrounding the dance floor with beautiful colorful flowers lit by wonderful hanging lights and candles. It provided the back drop to the best night of our lives with heartfelt speeches, wonderful food and lots of celebratory dancing with friends and family both young and old. Sara Richardson and her team captured the day perfectly and everyone is still reminiscing over the pictures about what they refer to as the best family vacation ever where Keith and Nicole happened to also come home married!

Intimate Destination Wedding at the Cabo Surf Hotel

This intimate celebration almost didn’t happen due to a hurricane only weeks before, but thanks to a talented team of vendors and friends and family, this couple pulled it off. Held at the gorgeous Cabo Surf Hotel, these two said “I do” among sandy shores and loved ones, soaking up every inch of beauty that Mexico has to offer, and Sara Richardson captured it all. Feel the sand on your toes right here.

From The Bride… San Jose del Cabo holds a special place in our hearts, so when Christian and I became engaged we immediately decided that we wanted to be married in San Jose del Cabo at the Cabo Surf Hotel.

Just weeks before our wedding, Hurricane Odile came ashore close to our wedding venue. We were deeply saddened to see the destruction Odile caused to the area, and to the lives of the people who live there. With heavy hearts, we canceled our October 11, 2014 wedding at the Cabo Surf Hotel because no airlines were flying into the area. This decision was especially difficult because Christian’s family had already traveled to the United States from Australia to attend our wedding, and would be unable to return for a later wedding date.

Then, days before October 11, 2014, it was announced that one flight a day would be flying to Los Cabos from Los Angeles. Christian and I quickly decided that we wanted to get both of our families on one of those flights, so we could get married at one of our favorite places in the world, surrounded by the most important people in our lives. Luckily, we were able to get plane tickets for everyone. I also called all of our vendors, and everyone was still able to be a part of our wedding.

When we arrived at the Cabo Surf Hotel, the staff graciously greeted us with margaritas and made us feel very welcome. Throughout our stay, Martha and the entire Hotel staff worked tirelessly to ensure that the Hotel would be beautiful for our wedding. And it was. Our wedding day was effortless. We began the day swimming in the ocean and relaxing by one of the Hotel’s swimming pools. Afterwards, Christian got ready with the boys – our son, Byron, and my step-son, Baden. And I got ready with my Mom.

Byron and Baden were our two best men, and all four of us walked down the aisle together as a family. We wrote our own vows, and our friend, Chris Johnson, officiated the wedding. The flowers designed by Pina Hernandez were beyond perfect. Adan Mijares sang and played the Mexican guitar beautifully. Martha Lomeli seamlessly organized the entire event. And our photographer, Sara, with her husband Ramon, captured the entire day in stunning photographs.

We ended our wedding day at a candlelit dinner table overlooking the ocean, laughing and enjoying time with our families. We could not have asked for a more special way to start our life together.

Los Cabos Wedding Sara Richardson Photography

There are weddings that make you happy and then there are weddings that make you happy, and I’ve found that Mexico seems to produce a lot of the latter type. From the blooms courtesy of Florenta Flower Design to the lovely Los Cabos beach to the couple whose personality is woven through the entire day, Sara Richardson Photography has given us the gift of happy, and the gallery is smiles galore.

From the beautiful bride… Out with friends on Cinco de Mayo, I was looking forward to a night out with friends and welcoming summer. Little did I know that when I turned around at one point I would meet the future love of my life. Two-and-a-half hours of conversation later I knew I had met someone special, and as we got to know each other more over the next year we just fell more and more in love, knowing we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.

On May 24th of the next year we went to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Kwamina had just surprised me with a surprise weekend away to Los Angeles and we needed were having our favorite meal before heading home to pack. When we got home, we started packing, and all of the sudden I heard our song come on, Good Life by One Republic. I put a pair of jeans away, and when I turned around there he was, down on one knee with a jewelry box in his hand. He started saying beautiful and romantic words, and I burst into tears of joy, and started kissing his face all over, and of course said “YES!!!!”

After a lovely and romantic weekend celebrating our engagement in Santa Monica, we returned home and started thinking about the wedding, and trying to think, what fits us, how do we make it a great vacation for our family and friends, who are spread all over the world, to meet? The questions were where and when?

After lots and lots of ideas about different places and times, we started seeing two themes in our relationship: May and Mexico, and with those guiding ideas we decided on May 18th in Cabo San Lucas. After a quick visit to Cabo, where we met our wedding planner, Vari Avila, and found an amazing location, Casa La Laguna, we were set to start planning our 10 day destination wedding!

We had so many stories within our wedding, and couldn’t imagine another way to celebrate our love for each other. From a three course of music, to lighting wish lanterns on the beach, it was an unforgettable day. Having friends and family travel from so many countries was a blessing we were overwhelmed by, and made our day that much more special.

San Jose Del Cabo Wedding from Sara Richardson Photography

If this wedding doesn’t make you want to swap plans and say I do amongst the sand, I don’t know what will. It’s a destination “I do” with pretty woven into EVERY detail, all thanks to crazy talented vendors like Florenta Flower DesignMartha Lomeli, and Sara Richardson. Oh, and we’re JUST getting started. There’s lots more to see and swoon in the full gallery right here.

From the Bride… Water has always played a significant part in Paul and my relationship; from our first dates of hiking near beautiful streams in Portland, Oregon to the pristine beaches of our Thailand proposal, we knew we wanted to get married near the water with our closest family and friends. After searching for a few months, we landed on a destination wedding in the small, quaint town of San Jose Del Cabo at the Cabo Surf Hotel. As Paul is an avid surfer, we realized this location was ideal for the small, intimate wedding we envisioned with enough activities to please all of our active family and friends who would be flying in from all over. We were so blessed to have Pauls 91 year old grandpa fly in from Florida, as well as some of Cats relatives from Prague, Czech Republic. With so many of our family and friends in attendance, we truly felt as if our wedding was a true representation of our combined lives together.

Planning a wedding from afar was easier than I imagined. At first, the idea seemed daunting but as we progressed, Paul and I learned to really trust our vendors and allow them to work from the experience they’ve gained over the years. Priorities are key and we chose to focus on only a few elements that were most important to us and executed these particular details with focus and follow up. Also, we had a lot of help from my mom, who hand-made so many of the details you see in these images. We are so blessed and appreciative to have these incredible images to remind of us of our magical first day as man and wife.

From the Groom… It’s a blessing to have a wedding in a beautiful place and its even better with a beautiful bride, great family and love all around me. The idea of a destination wedding allows for those special moments between events. Looking back at our wedding, these are some of my favorite times. Sitting on a board rising and falling with the waves, laughing at the pool, sunsets on the rocks when its only a memory, I couldn’t ask for better visions.

At the end of the day, we wanted our wedding to focus on the connection of people. Our bond with each other along with our closeness with family set the tone for an incredible few days of waves, sun and genuine connection a few of the best days of my life.

Engagement at Floras Farm in San Jose Del Cabo from Ana & Jerome

Engagement sessions are wonderful in their own right, but engagement sessions in Los Cabos? Well that takes them to whole new level of magical. Between the light, the gorgeous couple, and the stunning scenery – these images from Ana & Jerome are downright dreamy. See them all here.

This engagement session was shot January 3, 2013 at Floras Farm in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico. It was Brianna & Cory’s first trip to Los Cabos to meet vendors and scout locations for their upcoming wedding on January 3, 2014 at Sunset Da Mona Lisa. We (Ana & Jerome) had the idea to shoot at this unique location and were totally happy with the result!
