Modern Mexican Wedding Inspiration

It’s Friday darlings and I think we all deserve a colorful burst of pretty, don’t you? That’s where Isari Flower Studio and Luna Photo come in. They’re serving up a vibrant array of traditional Mexican wedding goodness with a retro flair twist set at Encuentro Guadalupe. It’s an instant mood-booster that’ll have you pin-crazy. See it all in the gallery!

From Isari Flower Studio… Inspired by the luxury eco villa itself and the breathtaking valley of Valle de Guadalupe, we dreamed up a design concept that was a juxtaposition of modern and traditional Mexico, with a touch of retro flair.

We started with rustic wood tables and metal chairs to enhance the semi-minimalistic approach to Mexico as a whole and the gorgeous hotel more specifically. This was a perfect canvas to layer on the color and detail to contrast the neutral desert landscape surrounding the villa. An ethnic print table runner was the foundation for the the wooden boats featuring vibrant textural blooms, patterned koozies bursting with succulents and a rainbow of colored votives sprinkled throughout the tablescape. The look was tied together with modern, white, square chargers topped with vibrant Folk Project napkins made from traditional Mexican fabrics.

As for the attire, we imagined what a modern, easy-going, yet wildly sophisticated couple would wear to celebrate their wedding. The bride donned a stunning floral crown and unexpected suede boots under her gorgeous gown for a touch of rustic elegance, while the groom chose a fitted slate grey suit.

Casual Tulum Beach Wedding

This my dears, is a party. It’s filled with color, love, laid back beach convos, watercolor-blue waters to match the invites, twinkling lights and one seriously beautiful Bride and I’m in love with every inch. Melissa Fuller snapped up every tropical-loving moment and you can see them all in the gallery!

From the beautiful Bride… This dress caught my eye because of the classic yet elegant design. I was looking for a fitted, sheath dress with a chapel train and because of the humid weather in Tulum, I needed a lightweight fabric. This dress had two layers, the bottom was made of silk and the out layer was made of embroidered lace with detailed beading throughout. My favorite was the low-v back and the button detailing down the center.

La Zebra Hotel couldn’t have been more perfect for our style. The hotel had a total of 15 brightly colored rooms, which ensured that it would only be our guests at the hotel during the wedding. It was so easy to develop a relationship with the staff and by the end of our seven day stay they felt like close friends. We invited them to share a celebratory tequila shot with us the night of our wedding. We stayed in the ocean front Bridal Suite for the majority of our stay at La Zebra. This room was gorgeous! It had a panoramic view of the beach and we would often see our guests enjoying tropical cocktails and swimming in the clear blue waters. We can’t wait to go back for an anniversary trip!

The engagement ring had belonged to my husbands grandmother in the 1940’s. It was a simple design with a marquis diamond in the center and was flanked by smaller diamonds. Originally, the band was silver. We wanted to keep the integrity of the design but update the material, so we had the band replaced with rose gold. Since the design of my engagement ring was very unique we decided on a less traditional wedding band that could be worn alone but still compliment the art-deco design. The bride band is made of rose gold with a pave setting and designed by Bony Levy.

We used classic white flowers that we purchased from the local florist in Tulum and we collected foliage from the site to give it a tropical and rustic feel. I was lucky enough to have a sister who is also a floral designer, so she was able to make the bridal party bouquets, boutonnieres and simple centerpieces the day of the wedding.

Cups Co Cups was a surprise favor to our guests, we provided sustainable stainless steel cups with custom drawn images of the two of us on them. Our guests were able to reuse these cups for many margaritas during their stay in Tulum!

In lue of a dessert table, we hired a motorized ice cream cart to surprise our guests with homemade chocolate, coconut and mango flavored ice cream cones. He pulled his brightly colored cart alongside the dance floor to serve our guests.

Our signature cocktails were Paloma and Cuba Libre.

Our wedding photographer Melissa Fuller created hand painted maps of Tulum and a list of events to pass out to our guests at the Welcome Reception. We fastened small envelopes with ibuprofen that read “Hangover Cure” to each packet.

As a late night snack the restaurant had prepared vegetable and cheese empanadas to serve as the partying died down. They were much needed after a night of dancing and drinking.

Once the DJ played the final song of the evening, the party wasn’t over yet. About half of the guests ended up swimming in the ocean. It was definitely a highlight of the evening, especially looking back at the venue from the water and seeing all of the lights strung around the open-air dance floor. It was amazing!

Cultural Destination Wedding in Tulum, Mexico at Las Ranitas

I swear this pink, Vera Wang gown dances in my dreams. I didn’t think it could possibly be prettier until I saw it on this Bride. It is as though it was made just for her and her stunning Mexico beach wedding designed by Canteiro. And the pretty doesn’t stop there. Oh no. It just keeps getting better, and thankfully Blueberry Photography was on hand to capture every moment so we could soak it all up here.

From Blueberry PhotographyI first met Pamela and Shaun when I photographed their engagement session in 2012 and I knew then that I had to take every opportunity possible to photograph this strikingly, beautiful couple. Obviously, I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph their destination wedding in Tulum, Mexico. Tulum is a tiny town in the Riviera Maya, about an hour and half south of Cancun, nestled on the longest stretch of white sand beach I have ever seen! The entire town makes a huge effort to be as eco friendly and sustainable as possible and the venue, Las Ranitas Hotel, is no exception. The ceremony was held on the beach, under a romantic, wood and cloth canopy, surrounded by palm trees. I could not believe how private and intimate the entire event was! Pamela has exceptional taste and style and is one of those unique beauties that can pull of anything and everything. Her pink gown and statement necklace couldn’t have been more perfect against the soft, blue sea. The team from Alison Events did a fabulous job coordinating the event, and Planner 1 created a stunning array of pink, white and green floral arrangements. The food, which was prepared by Las Ranitas, was traditional Mexican cuisine with an elegant presentation. The mango margaritas and tres leches cake were a couple of my favorites! It was a beautiful day that left both my heart and camera extremely happy. I was also lucky enough to photograph Pamela and Shaun’s day after session. We traveled to a nearby Cenote which is an underground sink hole, filled with fresh ground water. The photos we captured are some of my all time favorites!

Villa

From Del Sol Photography… Bride Leanne has a wealth of experience with destination weddings managing her own event coordination business in the Riviera Maya. Planning hundreds of weddings a year, she is definitely a bride who knew how to put together an incredible experience for herself, her groom and her guests. Her extensive knowledge of venues and vendors in the area ensured a perfect and unique day. Bride and groom met doing acro-yoga and incorporated their passion in the ceremony, the reception and the trash the dress shoot in a cenote.

The ceremony in the Pueblo Sac-Be amphitheater and the reception in a private villa in Akumal were intimate and very personal, the newlyweds were surrounded by the beauty of nature, pretty decor and the love of their family and friends (and their dog Charly of course).

From The Bride…I actually never thought I was going to get married. Not in the “can’t find a guy to marry” kind of way, but in a more “I’m 100% happy being my free spirit self, able to go and play as I please.” Then, of course, the right guy came along and my world was changed and somehow I ended up engaged (I’m pretty sure it was my idea!)

The wedding location, an outdoor amphitheater in the SacBe eco development of the Riviera Maya, was our location of choice. It held a lot of special memories for me during my time living in Playa, and a jungle setting with a cenote in the background was exactly what we were looking for.

Aaron & I agreed that Matt of del Sol would be our photographer of choice, we were soooo EXCITED when we found out Deborah was our second shooter! And not only that, Sol would be coming along as well. WOAH! Of course Marcos from Artevelas had free reign to do as he pleased with our venue, since truthfully, I trust his taste more than my own. And Maju, my amazing business partner, would be there to run the show along with my favorite DJ – Mood Events. It all came together so nicely.

Probably the biggest gift was from Aaron’s Brother-in-Law and my Spiritual teachers from Ananda Yoga Desde el Corzaon who put together the most meaningful ceremony would could have imagined. Bringing together those two elements really represented who we are as a couple and allowed all of our family, friends, and loved ones to know us a little deeper that day.

From the Bride… When Dan and I began planning our wedding, we knew we wanted it to be a laid-back, fun, and beautiful adventure to bring our closest friends and family together. We found Villa Amor on Style Me Pretty and loved what we saw. We planned a quick weekend getaway to travel to Mexico and immediately fell in love with not only Villa Amor, but the whole town of Sayulita.

I love any and all DIY projects. I started with our wedding invitations, which included RSVP cards that were written like Mad Libs. When I was done, I still had extra fancy paper which I wanted to use for another wedding project, I just didn’t know what yet.

I started thinking about table names and wanted to do something unique. All of our guests were Americans and the majority of them spoke limited or no Spanish. I thought it would be fitting to have table names after Spanish love or wedding words. Then at each table, the table name was displayed similar to a Spanish – English dictionary. For example, our table name was “La Boda,” which means “The Wedding” in English. I also made place cards with the same matching paper as the table names.

Another fun DIY project I did was the wedding maracas. I ordered plain painted pink and purple maracas online from a party store. Then a girlfriend and I drew Mexican folk art hearts (Milagros) on each maraca using gold Sharpie. There was a maraca at each guest’s seat at the dinner table.

I would have loved for every item at my wedding to be a DIY project, but time didn’t allow for that, so I turned to Etsy, where I ordered tags for the maracas, “Hola!” welcome bags, and wedding programs.

I also made a “Wedding Day Survival Kit” for my husband-to-be. I ordered custom cuff links from Etsy. Each cuff link was a map; one of Sayulita, the other of our home, San Francisco. I also ordered custom collar stays from Etsy that were engraved with our wedding date.

Our wedding ceremony was at Don Pedro’s Palapa on a gorgeous bluff overlooking the ocean. Dan’s aunt performed our ceremony and we each wrote our own wedding vows. Then guests were shuttled to the “Gran Villa” at Villa Amor. Guests enjoyed fresh coconuts and cocktails on the patio of the Gran Villa overlooking all of Sayulita. Next we moved to the brick courtyard for dinner and dancing. Dinner was delicious; we opted against cake and instead had a couple making fresh churros on the patio for dessert all night long. Everyone had a wonderful night of dancing and we concluded the festivities with a surprise fireworks display overlooking the ocean.

From Heather Elizabeth PhotographyI am sending you the wedding of Doug and Felice that I photographed on May 31st of this year. The wedding took place at Doug’s parent’s place in Healdsburg, California. The couple still lives out in that area and are huge beer & wine fans. So of course the wedding had the best of the local brews and wines. Felice is so detail oriented that she really had a small detail for everything – down to the sign pointing to the restroom! It was really a feast for the eyes for me to photograph. They even had a private vineyard to shoot in! From The Bride…All the succulents were ordered on Etsy from a vendor in San Diego and (DIY). We bought all the vases and put the burlap on them and put the lavender in the tall vases. The escort cards were paper from the paper source and I embossed them, cut corks and my mom did the calligraphy. Everything that was not rented was a DIY. Even the arbor was made by Doug’s brother. The bars were rented. We did so much of the wedding ourselves.

Southern Garden Wedding Wrapped in Elegance

For as un-southern as I am, I am fully obsessed with the elegance and traditions of the region right down to the way my Southern friends add y’all to just about anything. And this Louisiana affair is the poster child for Southern elegance. Beach Chic Punta Mita Wedding at Casa Amore

Beach weddings like this one make my wedding-loving heart sing. With a little bit of spunk and a whole lot of style, this couple and The Dazzling Details pulled off a wedding that is perfect parts chic and fun. The result is a gallery of images from KLK Photography that will make your heart sing too.

From The Dazzling DetailsMayra and Loren planned a unique and relaxing wedding experience for their guests at an exclusive villa in Punta Mita, Mexico.

Guests were welcomed with refreshing Mexican fruit waters in bright pink – watermelon flavor – and peach – cantaloupe flavor – that coordinated with the couple’s color palette as well as cool towels to keep them comfortable in the warm afternoon. The wedding ceremony took place on the villa garden and beach area where the bride and groom stood beneath a uniquely-styled chuppah created from hand-made Mexican origami fabric, and as the groom kissed his new wife, trumpets sounded from the awaiting Mariachi band while guest shook hand-painted maracas with the words Beso, Kiss, Love and Amor!

Cocktail hour ensued, and creative renditions of traditional Latin cuisine were served in bite-size portions; from Agave-glazed shrimp to Chipotle tamales, guests sampled a scrumptious variety of Mexican delights! Lounging areas created from clean white couches and ottomans provided seating for guests in the villa garden, and sweet arrangements of peonies and succulents among other florals added pops of color along with a stunning variety of throw pillows! Vintage chandeliers hung above seating areas and provided a touch of glam and beautiful illumination later on in the night!

Guests were seated at family-style tables beneath exposed-bulb lighting for a fun-filled evening of dining, toasting and finally dancing the night away!

Whimsical

From Saraí Flores of Signature, Event Consulting & DesignWhen creating the perfect Cabo Mexican wedding, we face the challenge of not falling for clichés. On the contrary, the goal is to orchestrate something unique that says “Mexico” and reflects our clients’ personality and flair.

Working on Tracy & Alex’s wedding was fun and joyful since day one. The initial inspiration and vision was very clear; we were aiming for a chic Mexican and happy atmosphere. We went for bold colors, but not to the point of it looking like a kid’s birthday party.

The scenery was just perfection; it was located in one of the most beautiful terraces of Esperanza Resort. The ceremony was the perfect moment to make a statement, with a bright and joyful setting full of red, orange and pink flowers. We mixed different textures and styles to make it fun and interesting. Working with floral designer Pina is a guaranteed funfest, not to mention her talent for creating the most beautiful arrangements.

The reception took place at the restaurant terraces. We created a very graceful, festive and amusing atmosphere. We had fun mixing fabrics, colors, patterns and textures. We added little touches of the desert, like mini cactei and wild flowers. The funniest part was probably the Burro Photo Booth – hard to pick one, but it was probably the most successful element of the wedding; people didn’t want to get out of the Burro area where we had props, mask and sombreros.

From the beautiful Bride… Find a good wedding planner! I was so fortunate to find Martha and Sarai whom I immediately clicked with and was able to trust fully with executing the perfect weekend. With destination weddings, you have to be able to put your trust in your planner because it is impossible for the bride to take care of the details the way they would if the wedding were in the city they live in. Since I trusted Martha and Sarai so much and spent a lot of time with them before hand going over each detail many times, I was able to just give them some basic ideas on what I liked and envisioned and let them take it from there. When I arrived for the big weekend, I didn’t have to do a thing. I was able to enjoy my guests the entire time and everyone commented that I was the most calm bride they have ever seen. Having that calmness was priceless.

Things I loved the most: The chuppah was absolutely stunning, and the table settings were the most beautiful I have ever seen!!! The donkey was so much fun – our guests loved taking pictures with him when they entered the reception. The entertainment all weekend was amazing – we were lucky to have fantastic musicians (guitar players, mariachi, and a proper band for the party). Nothing gets a party going better than good music!!

Dreamy Puerto Vallarta Destination Wedding

Just let me set the scene: toes in the sand, hand-in-hand with your beloved, and 30 of your nearest and dearest to bear witness. It’s exactly what happened when these two New Yorkers escaped the winter cold for a destination adventure at the Dreams Resort in PV. Of course, they brought the amazing Megan W Photography along to document the day, and you can consider the full gallery your own virtual vacay. Enjoy!

From the Bride and Groom… What kind of wackos make their friends and family fly across a continent to stay at an unknown resort? That’s us.

We met in high school, where Dana studied liberal arts and Juan studied Dana. Unfortunately for Juan, we didn’t start dating until we reconnected thirteen years later. Juan popped the question at the hotel restaurant where we had our first date on the four-year anniversary of the day we reconnected. We knew that we wanted a beach wedding, something intimate, and we wanted to be able to spend a significant amount of time with each of our guests. The more we searched locally, the more it became apparent that we weren’t going to find what we were looking for. We searched for a year before a destination wedding started to seem like a realistic option. There were two major concerns: We thought it might be too difficult to plan and too inconvenient for our guests. But the more we considered our own happiness and what would make the experience most enjoyable we began to realize a destination wedding was our only option…and we knew exactly where to have it.

In 2010, we vacationed at the Dreams Resort in Puerto Vallarta and had one of the best weeks of our lives. The staff at the resort waited on us hand and foot. We saw tons of tropical fish, we rode jet skis in the Bay of Bandera, we caught giant mahi mahi on a deep sea fishing excursion, and we released baby turtles into the sea. Surely, if we could replicate at least some of that for our guests, our wedding would be a smashing success.

Despite the logistical challenges, there was one aspect of our wedding that never gave us any agita. Because we were going to have a destination wedding, we knew that a lot of the details would be out of our control. However, we weren’t going to leave the photography to chance. We had to be certain that we had the perfect photographer who would be able to capture our wedding in a creative and dynamic way. We found Megan W Photography through a friend’s recommendation and fell in love with her work instantly. She exceeded every one of our expectations – from her ability to put us at ease during our shoot, to her promptness in returning edited photos, to her delightful personality and, of course, the stunning photos that we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives.

At the end of the day, none of the chaos leading up to the wedding really mattered. The tropical flower options, the clear blue sea, and the jungle cliffs surrounding the resort were spectacular. In the week leading up to our wedding, the hotel staff was incredibly responsive and had everything entirely in order based on our requests: the centerpieces came together beautifully, the hotel spa had the gorgeous casablanca hair flower waiting for me when I arrived, and the setup was perfect – simple yet romantic, with every detail adding to the incredible setting. The gorgeous peach, gold and violet sunset served as the ideal backdrop as we danced to the strums of Spanish guitar. The experience of spending one of the most important days of our lives with thirty of our closest friends and family was magical. Because we had a destination wedding, we were able to spend the next several days with everyone too! So we got to relive the wonderful night over and over again until it was time for us to pack up and say goodbye.

Tropical Puerto Vallarta Destination Wedding

Give me a tropical escape to paradise and I’ll be one very happy blogger. But when that escape just so happens to be set at the amazing Dreams Villamagna Nuevo Vallarta? Let’s just say it takes everything I have not to pack up and book a vacay for myself. Shot by Melissa Green it’s the destination wedding at its prettiest, and you can see if all for yourself in the gallery right here.

This beautiful destination wedding took place at Dreams Villamagna in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Tony and Julia were the most stunning of couples and had impeccable taste in style, music, friends, and wedding locations! Tony being from Canada and Julia from New Zealand, guests were coming from all parts of the world.

Dreams Villamagna fit Tony & Julia’s destination wedding dream perfectly, providing beautiful landscaping, surrounded by palm trees and pools leading to the ocean. The resort was mostly white with orange and green accents, which gave many options for portrait scouting. And the beach was simply beautiful and perfect.

Dreams Villamagna provided the flowers and cake. Tony & Julia decided on everything else from the wedding colors to the centerpieces to the music played throughout the ceremony and reception.

This destination wedding was exquisite and with just the right amount of Mexican flare and touches to bring all the foreigners together, made this wedding a one of a kind.

Glamorous Riviera Maya Destination Wedding

This Mexico destination affair is the kind of wedding that deserves to be swooned with a cocktail in hand. A margarita on the rocks, to be be specific. Because when you’ve got images as beautiful as Emily Blake’s and glam-filled moments designed by Mishka Designs and Canteiro there’s just no telling how long a trip to the gorgeous gallery will last. Get started here!

From the Bride… Sean & I value our time with our friends and family above all, so our top priority was finding a big house near the water where we could gather for several days before and after the actual wedding celebration. We both love Mexico, so we narrowed our search to the Caribbean side (equidistance from our families on the West and East coasts) and went in search of a venue that would set the stage for the multi-day wedding celebration we envisioned.

Although we knew the elements that inspired us, we needed help putting it all together. That is where Mishka Designs came into play. The first time we met Mishka in Mexico, we both breathed a sigh of relief and knew we wanted her on our team. She coordinated site visits for us and helped us find our dream venue in Puerto Aventuras.

The Haciendas’ gorgeous architecture and decor definitely inspired us. We envisioned a romantic, nature-inspired, elegant, Old World wedding there. Hacienda Del Mar’s courtyard provided the soulful space we sought for our ceremony. The tree-lined walkway made a stunning natural aisle. The Caribbean Sea was elegantly framed by the arched portals. We fell in love with the place and couldn’t wait to bring our friends and family there.

We chose ivory, poppy red and Mexican pink as our primary colors and used soft blush and peach to create a natural, romantic feel. We accented with gold metallics and lace details. The bridal party wore rich shades of charcoal which contrasted beautifully with the ivories, greens and vibrant colors of Mexico. We wanted to bring natural elements into the courtyards, so florals and greenery were our priority in the design process. Colorful Bougainvillea surrounded the guest seating area. Gabi of Planner One Events blew us away with her exquisite arch and romantic floral centerpieces.

I agree with the advice other brides have given: enjoy the day above all else. For us, that meant having a professional team. We saw our wedding reception as an opportunity to throw a great party for our guests—one that would require help to pull off. We knew we wanted to be ‘hands on’ in planning, but we wanted to be able to let go once the wedding day arrived. So, my advice is to hire a team of people you like and trust. Not only was Mishka’s design exactly like we imagined, but she became our friend and supported us the whole way. Neither she nor the LM Wedding team balked at any request. We feel so blessed to have found Mishka Designs, the amazingly talented Emily Blake, hairstylist Kristen McNulty, and our coordinator, LM Weddings, who made planning a wedding 4,000 miles away a breeze.

One of our highlights from the day was right after the ceremony. While our guests made their way to the cocktail reception, Sean and I stole a minute alone to enjoy our first sip of champagne as newlyweds. We entered the reception alongside our Mariachi band as they burst out an impressive version of Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire. We felt exuberant and the sound of the horn playing could not have been a better fit for that moment.

There were so many moments throughout the afternoon and evening when we locked eyes, held hands, kissed, and just breathed in the love all around us. We felt all the planning, everything had been executed exactly as we had hoped. But our biggest success was that our guests seemed to exude happiness and radiate love. We could truly feel the love in the air. Whenever we think back on it, we feel that rush of love and we see the smiling faces of our dearest friends and family. That, to us, made it the wedding day of our dreams.

Welcome Dinner for the Jose Villa Mexico Workshop

The Mexico Workshop with Jose Villa is such a magical place; a coming together of great minds, crazy talent and a beautiful backdrop of Hacienda El Carmen. In celebration of the announcement of his upcoming 2014 Workshop we’re going to dive into a few of the pretty components. Up first, a welcome dinner crafted by Lisa Vorce + Mindy Rice. It’s heavy on the old world charm and all out romance. See even more of Jose’s beautiful imagery right here.

A note from Mindy and Lisa Vorce… For the welcome gifts, we had our favorite local calligrapher stain wooden boxes and calligraph each student’s name on the lid to personalize them. Brenna from BB Paper & Ink letter-pressed hand-sewn “belly bands” that had custom artwork drawn by her and wrapped them around each box. The center of the belly bands were die cut with circles that framed each student’s name. The boxes were filled with delicious chocolates and truffles – and some very special chocolate milagros that were hand made for each student and silver leafed by Mindy.

The original barn of the hacienda provided the most extraordinary back-drop for our welcome dinner. We set up a single long beautiful table and utilized the Hacienda’s equipale chairs. The weathered leather of the chairs was the perfect complement to our terra cotta vessels and plates. Mindy incorporated wood floral in the vintage terra cotta pots and paired them with hand painted teal blue candlesticks. At each place setting we had teal placemats from Tonala that had each guest’s name calligraphed on it. Casa de Perrin outfitted the table with their lovely Heath ceramic dishes and their teak flatware. We created a unique runner down the table using a pattern of terra-cotta tiles. On each chair, we placed a teal striped serape which served as a lovely favor for each attendee – but also beautiful decor!

Mexico Beach Wedding at Dreams Puerto Vallarta

On a day like today, where the temperature will barely reach thirty (brrr), a wedding like this Puerto Vallarta pretty is just what the doctor ordered. A good ol’ dose of stylish vitamin D by way of the gorgeous images from Studio Castillero Photography. And with The Dazzling Details at the design helm, you know this gallery is as good as they get. See even more here.

From the Bride…Kevin and I knew we wanted a destination wedding before we were even engaged. We visited Dreams in Puerto Vallarta on a last minute mini vacation back in 2008 and absolutely fell in love with the area’s pristine beaches, lush jungles and vibrant culture. That trip was the beginning of the couple we are today and has always held a special place in our hearts. Both Southern Californian natives, we knew we had to say our vows with the ocean as our backdrop, and knowing we would be paying for our wedding ourselves, affordable Puerto Vallarta became the perfect choice. After scouring the internet, we found the lovely and talented ladies of The Dazzling Details, their services and the venue were booked before Kevin even popped the question! (Yes, I am a planner and booking before the New Year meant additional savings, ha!)

Our wedding day was nothing short of spectacular! Over 80 friends and family made the trip to Dreams over President’s Day Weekend 2012 to celebrate with us. The Dazzling Details used every detail and element I had described or suggested in our emails (even ordering a coral chevron fabric I had fallen in love with months ahead of time) and turned the affair into a beautiful mix of classic elegance and modern flair. From the ghost chairs and paper lantern lit tent, to the handmade programs and maracas, no detail was left unnoticed. They even managed to incorporate Kevin’s favorite pastime – hockey – in a classy way as a backdrop for the table numbers.

Most importantly, our friends and family had the time of their lives and are still reminiscing about the amazing time they had and how it was the most incredible wedding they had ever been to. Rachel and Rico, our photographers from Studio Castillero and Tom and Mindy, our videographers from Aqua Vivus captured every moment beautifully. It was a day we will cherish forever and can now continue to relive through their work. We wish we could come back every year and repeat the same party complete with fireworks!

Baja California Wedding

I may have just recently returned home from a week-long vaca, but that doesn’t mean I can’t start planning my next amazing getaway.  A little trip that WILL include a magical place called Baja California, the locale of today’s gorgeous affair from Sara Richardson.  It’s a vibrant love-fest with crazy cool rentals from Del Cabo Event Design and pretty blooms from Mazarte Floral (the bride!).  See it all here.

From the Bride… I am very proud of the fact that I am from Baja California Sur. I absolutely love it here! One day, when I was a little girl, I visited Santa Rosalia’s Church and I knew then that I wanted to get married in that church. I was very impressed by the unique and simple beauty that was designed by the Architect Gustavo Eiffel. I had never been to Paris but a little French Colony in the middle of the Baja was the perfect location!

Once I got engaged, my fiancé and I travelled to Santa Rosalia looking for the ideal place to have the reception. We were also in search for the best location to have unforgettable pictures taken on our wedding day. This area looks like it was stopped in time. You can see the deterioration of the buildings over the years but it is still incredibly beautiful. My fiancé fell in love with the place as well so it was set, our wedding would be in Santa Rosalia with a beautiful reception in Mulege, B.C.S. We chose a little Boutique Hotel right in the middle of Mulege named “Hotel Serenidad” and they had all I needed for my very special day. I must add that I am a professional florist specializing in weddings, so the entire concept was more than planned a long time ago and it was there where we found the right place to develop our wedding concept; eclectic, rustic/chic with a little vintage touch.

The whole family loved the idea of joining us in Santa Rosalia and Mulege for our wedding celebration. Three days of celebrations between Santa Rosalia’s conservative French style and an eclectic relaxing atmosphere in Mulege. With my team’s support from work we travelled with everything that we needed in order to create a harmonious ambience in the place. Our color palette: peach, cream, pale pink and greens with orange accents. Wooden tables with single runners, vases of various sizes, bouquets along the tables, a perfect pergola to decorate with hundreds of ribbons and hanging votive candles. A small and very warm reception surrounded by our loved ones. A beautiful soprano sang during the ceremony and during the reception. We also had a local band as well as a local DJ. It was incredible and exceeded our expectations that we were able to find everything that we needed for our big day locally. Not to mention all the delicious meals that we enjoyed during our three day celebration inside Hotel Serenidad. The main dish for our wedding day was a Serenidad specialty for the last 40 years.

We are looking forward to celebrating anniversaries in such a great location and being only 8 hours driving from our home town of Cabo. It was definitely worth all the work and we loved the images captured by our great friend and excellent photographer Sara Richardson. She understood perfectly the style that we were looking for and what we expected. Something magical to enjoy forever!

Destination Wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Right about now, as my house lies snuggled in a foot of snow, Mexico is sounding pretty amazing. It’s a land where sunshine is a mainstay and seaside nuptials are a part of the landscape. And local darlings, The Dazzling Details, know just how to whip those nuptials into shape. The result is a neutral palette and oceanfront cocktailing all captured by Clary Pfeiffer. From the Bride… Brad and I knew very early on we wanted a destination wedding. We both fell in love with Puerto Vallarta and knew it was the perfect location for our wedding. Puerto Vallarta is a city filled with remnants of classic architecture, cobblestone streets and breathtaking views from the hills that surround the bay. It is absolutely beautiful and completely charming.

I wanted to juxtapose the rustic charm of Puerto Vallarta and our venue, Villa Celeste, with chic, simple details and a soft color palette. Brad had only one request when planning the wedding: a ridiculously fun reception. We hired The Dazzling Details {wedding planners extraordinaire!} to bring our vision to life.

When the day arrived, I felt so relaxed and happy and I attribute this to The Dazzling Details. I knew they would take care of everything and all we had to do was have fun and live in the moment.

Our wedding day was steaming hot, but our guests made the best of it jumping in the pool between limbo contests, dance offs and visits to the late night churro stand and taco cart. Everyone ended up in bathing suits and cover ups by the end of the night, which wasn’t what I had envisioned, but it was a perfect ending to our crazy reception!

Puerto Vallarta Wedding at La Mansion

Anytime a Jillian Mitchell wedding pops through our inbox, we put on our wedding blogger party hats and prepare. to. swoon. Her gorgeous, light-drenched captures get our hearts time and time again, and this destination beauty is the latest on the list. The Dazzling Details styled every bloom in flawless fashion, and you can find even more pin-able moments in the gallery right here.

From the Bride… I have always wanted to get married in my hometown of Santa Barbara but after my husband Matt and I started talking about our wedding we knew we wanted to have a destination wedding. We loved the idea of having an intimate group of our family and closest friends with us on vacation celebrating our love. Next we needed to decide on our wedding location. We decided against more remote locations like Fiji and decided on Mexico. Matt let me decide on the town! I searched online for weeks and came across The Dazzling Details. After seeing their weddings I knew I wanted them to plan my wedding so we decided on Puerto Vallarta.

My favorite moment of the day was standing bare foot in the sand exchanging our handwritten vows. I have never had so many emotions come over me. We both thought we would be able to hold it together but we both had tears running down our cheeks by the end of our vows.

I thought having a destination wedding would be ten times more stressful but it was the exact opposite. The Dazzling Details made the wedding process extremely easy and fun! If you are thinking of about having a destination wedding… do it! You won’t regret it!

Mayan Riviera Destination Wedding

I consider it a really good destination wedding if I find myself mindlessly reaching for my piña colada (which, unfortunately, isn’t there) as I flip through the gallery. This one is really good. Natalie Andrusiak Photography captured the very essence of the day, and that essence is warm waters, white sand, and buckets full of sweet love.

From the photographer… Anya + Brody live in Calgary, Alberta, one of the coldest places in the country, so they decided to get away from it all and marry in the hot and sunny Mayan Riviera, Mexico. For the 30+ family and friends who were able to take the trip across the continent, it was well worth the trip. Their wedding took place at the the beautiful Azul Sensatori Resort on the Skydeck of the resort, overlooking the oh-so-blue Caribbean Sea.

Anya was inspired by the turquoise of the sea as well as the floral accents that the tropical location provided, and her idea of the perfect wedding was one that was whimsical, yet incorporated Mexican elements like “Dia de los Muertos” skulls into the decor and invitations. Most of all, the bride and groom wanted an environment where everyone felt comfortable and ready to enjoy themselves! With a morning of an and off downpour, Anya + Brody married atop the resort’s rooftop deck, and the skies opened up to the most beautiful deep blue for an unbelievable and moving ceremony.

The reception was to take place in the sand, underneath the palm trees that had been strung with twinkling lights – however, the weather took a turn for the worse and the event had to be moved indoors to a nearby restaurant on the resort. Regardless of the change in location, the bride and groom weathered the storm with smiles on their faces. After a few heartfelt and hilarious toasts, the guests enjoyed a traditional Mexican family style meal followed by tequila and dancing! Anya + Brody’s wedding was truly an event to remember!
