Relaxed Elegance At This Chic and Colorful Mexico Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Red, Pink, Blue, Cream, and Black were united in this fashionable destination wedding. The reception was an elegant, relaxed, and fun affair where these colors cohabitated to create a truly unique look.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The reception was held in the signature restaurant “Alebrije,” overlooking the pool and sunset, which made it truly magical. Table settings were combined between round tables with linens and rectangle ones that showed the beautiful wood, contrasting perfectly with black chairs to give it more edge. Red and pink florals were complementing the classical Mexican decor at the table. From artisanal plates and glassware to hand-made candelabras, it was a truly Mexican-style table. To make the design stand out and break the typical wedding style, it was decided that the color black had to be added to balance out the color palette, making it a unique combination.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From the bride… Carly and Austin met in April of 2016 at Coachella Music Festival, they were introduced by mutual friends, together ever since and the rest is history. Six years almost exactly to the date, the two were married in San Jose Del Cabo at the breathtaking Las Ventanas al Paraiso. Los Cabos is not only a beautiful destination, but it is also a home away from home for the couple who have enjoyed countless times in Mexico with family and friends, enjoying all the beauty and culture Baja has to offer – surfing – art – food – libations – architecture – music, etc. Carly and Austin reside in Southern California living there happily ever after.

For the wedding, Carly wore a classic silhouette by Alex Perry that looked absolutely perfect on her. Paired with pearl-beaded Jimmy Choo shoes and a red all-ranunculus bouquet with a black ribbon, the whole ensemble was one-of-a-kind.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]It was important for the guests to experience Mexican fine dining at its best, so we selected a 4-course dinner from “Alebrije,” which included a catch of the day tiradito, locally sourced salads and vegetables, the traditional Baja seabass, and roasted cauliflower with pippin sauce.
[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]It was a truly Mexican-style table. To make the design stand out and break the typical wedding vibe, we decided to add black to balance the color palette, making it a unique combination. For the floral design, we played around with a gorgeous palette of reds and pinks for the ceremony and reception. These hues and the natural clay vases gave a beautiful balance to the tables.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Las Ventanas Al Paraíso’s pastry chef prepared a traditional vanilla cake adorned with amazing florals for that special moment.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Carly and Austin always knew that the most special place for them to have the ceremony was the famous “Plaza” in Las Ventanas Al Paraíso. The iconic tree became the perfect backdrop when it was covered in pink bougainvilleas that contrasted beautifully with the ocean. Carly walked down the aisle to “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers. The whole space was covered with baskets and clay pots of different flowers that made the “I do’s” even more romantic. Carly and Austin finished the whole thing by walking to “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve.

Modern Meets Romance with Panoramic Views in Cabo San Lucas!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Tymorie and Elias had 3 events during their wedding week – rehearsal dinner at Acre, welcome party and the weddign day both at The Cape. For the wedding colors: white, cream, neutrals, blush, and a punch of black.
For the rehearsal dinner at Acre: wood, ivory, and tropical greenery. All of the guests wore white![/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The Cape has a very specific retro surf vibe, so I wanted the design aesthetic to compliment our surroundings and have a bit of earthiness and texture to it but also contrast with some pretty neutral softness. Their entire celebration was focused on relaxed elegance where the details and customization were intentional and purposeful, but guests were able to enjoy every moment, soak in the scenery, and have fun! Tymorie and Elias were the best hosts for their guests![/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the bride: We met 10 years prior to our dating. He was a client in the very first salon I worked in, and all the older ladies wanted to set us up. When he finally sat in my chair, he was all business and definitely didn’t seem interested. While we realized we had many mutual friends, we found ourselves running into each other over the course of 10 years. We reconnected after I ended a bad relationship, and the rest was history. I knew he was everything I was waiting for my whole life, just after one date. We were inseparable from that moment on. We dated for 2 years before he proposed.

He chose a random day to throw me off. It was a normal Saturday where we met family for brunch. We were casual and it was THE last thing I expected. After our day, he took me to “meet” some other friends for a sunset and cocktails on the beach. When we arrived and our friends were not there, I immediately felt his nervousness as we were standing at a lookout spot. Before I knew it he was down on a knee and I was so emotional and happy, I literally blacked out! A photographer popped out of the bushes and our friends came running to us. It was perfect for us in every way![/field]

Welcome Cocktails
The Cape: Mezcal, Basil, Citrus
Spritz Mint: Aperol, Prosseco, Mint
Brujo: Averna, Strega, Bourbon[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Texture was important in the florals. Dried florals and palms paired with soft blooms were the main focus. The Bride’s bouquet was hand tied in an organic shape using lisianthus, roses, rehydrated bleached material and seasonal blooms [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]No cake here! They had a plated dessert trio at the end of dinner and late-night churros with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces so guests could grab and get back on the dance floor![/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]We had a mariachi band play once Tymorie and Elias kissed at the end of the ceremony and then they all led guests to cocktail hour! What a way to kick-off the celebration!

The fireworks to open the dance floor were a surprise from the groom to the bride! Her reaction was incredible and it was such a heartfelt moment. Everyone rushed the dance floor – the energy was insane and the DJ kept it going![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Each guest was welcomed in their hotel room with a custom woven tote complete with tequila, shot glasses and a hangover kit. Such a festive surprise![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]From the bride: I knew I wanted to enjoy the process of planning without being burnt out by the end. All I wanted was the best night with sentimental touches. Elias wanted over the top. Michelle Garibay, our wedding planner is a master at her craft and when all three of us connected so quickly, I knew her professional vision was going to create something so much more grand and beautiful than we ever could. We picked a venue that absolutely suited us and our vision, so I knew I wanted Michelle to tie in the aspects of the hotel. She did, and BEYOND. It was more beautiful than I could have ever pictured.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Their beloved chocolate Lab Finley was present as well in the custom cocktail napkins and the signature cocktail was named after him (and he was a delish skinny, spicy margarita!). There was even a cutout of him manning the bar!

From the bride: Being a Covid couple, we had to reschedule our date 3 times. Over the course of the year delay, we wondered if we would ever get to have the wedding we were so patiently waiting for. When it finally happened, all of our guests, especially us, were so ready to experience life after the shutdowns. The hype and excitement from postponing made our day THAT much more spectacular and the energy of our guests was unmatched! We loved the intimate and exclusive feel of a smaller resort. The hotel is immaculate in every way. And the modern touches of the resort with the views of the ocean allowed us to have a dressier destination wedding. We didn’t want to be casual. We wanted elegance on vacation!

Here’s Proof That a Beach Wedding Can Be Utterly Elegant and Timeless

Beach weddings will always hold a special place in our hearts. Today’s wedding is proof that a sandy-toe wedding is truly the perfect fit for any style, whether you’re more of a classic bride or boho is more your thing. Grit & Gold made this couple’s dream Cabo destination wedding a reality, leaving no detail unturned. Just 53 of their closest family and friends watched as the couple exchanged “I do’s” under a blooming floral arbor by Lola del Campo and danced the night away under a canopy of magical strings lights. Head on over to the full gallery to see it all unfold – taken by Luna de Mare Photography!

From Luna de Mare Photography… Cabo San Lucas was a destination the couple loved and visited, so naturally they fell in love with the idea of having a Destination Wedding with their closest Family and Friends for a weekend filled with poolside lounging, bonfires, large family style tables with dining on seafood and the ocean breeze coaxing them into the soft lull of relaxation.

Hailing from Texas, with just a small count of 53 of their nearest and dearest from around the world, they set on planning their intimate Wedding with Lottie of Grit & Gold Events (also a fellow Texan). The Ceremony was held just before sunset, under an arbor of lush florals on the beach with horseback riders occasionally riding by, and crashing waves from the Cortez Sea & Pacific Ocean combined.

After their I do’s, they were all led up to the al fresco Reception by a line of Mariachis strumming to local tunes. A full Fiesta with stations of freshly prepared food and desserts were set up for Guests to enjoy just before the dancing commenced, and a surprise Fireworks display topped off their evening celebration.

That wasn’t the end of celebrating for these two however, as they joined a handful of friends for their After Party on the beach made complete with a Bonfire, cocktails and s’mores under the inky moonlit sky.

Proof That a Wedding Exit by Boat Is Sea-Riously Worth It

This sun-drenched, floral-filled dream has us craving a long vacay somewhere tropical and warm. If you’re looking for wedding inspiration that is every bit romantic as it is beachy – then this one’s for you! Just wait until you lay eyes on the colorful, feminine color palette and organic arrangements from Natural Pina, they’re just too good to be true. Leave it to Sophie Epton Photography to capture every swoon-worthy detail, see it all unfold at the full gallery!

From Chassie Anders, owner of Crown of Glory BeautyAs a hair + makeup artist, I have had the opportunity to work on a number of styled shoots, but this one was a first for me. I recently attended a conference in Austin, TX called The Up Factor, and after listening from some of the wedding industry’s finest, I had a dream to get to Cabo and create some content for my future brides, website, and other social media platforms. So I sent an email titled “So Many Dreams” to my photographer friend, Sophie Epton, and with her guidance, I began turning my dream into a reality.

Each detail of this shoot was very intentional from our choice of vendors, shooting in soft light on film, to the color palette. Our hope was to give each vendor freedom to create something pretty, magical, and new in order to give some inspiration for future couples. The end result blew me away. I could not have asked for a better team of collaborators who helped work together to complete the project. Every little detail fell into place, and I am still in awe each time I look at these photos. While we wanted to create something magical, we also wanted it to feel real. Day one, we shot the beach side ceremony and courtyard reception. While the florist and amazing Diamante crew were setting up the ceremony, Sophie and I were at a stunning residence on property setting up the tablescape, and getting our bride + groom ready to say “I do”.

The home’s Mexican desert cottage vibes were the perfect background for each shot. As soon as I arrived on property, I just knew that we had to place our reception table in front of the coral and white bougainvillea blooms in the front courtyard. Did I mention the dreamy Mexican tiled fountain? Like I said, perfect backdrop for our reception. After a group effort of setting up the table with a Tono & Co linen runner, gold flatware, and the most beautiful arrangement of blooms (some picked from the florist’s personal garden), we lit the candles, and Sophie began shooting her magic.

The “wedding guests” enjoyed eating all the beautiful gourmet foods + drinks prepared by Diamante‘s head chef. After our mock reception, we headed over to the beach. Walking barefoot up to the ceremony felt intimate with only 12 thonet chairs set up; while the sea of insane flowers installed at the altar made it feel like a dream. As the sun was setting, the ocean roaring, and wind blowing, we shot the ceremony. We captured some great moments of our local couple, Gaby + Andres. I loved that they were a real married couple, because you could feel their chemistry as they gazed into each other’s eyes. After the sun went down, we headed to have a much needed celebratory dinner + drinks at The Dunes, one of Diamante‘s restaurant spots, and discussed as a team how the day went.

Day two, we focused on the detail shots of the dreamy invitation suite, the Susie Saltzman rose gold ring, bridal bouquet +boutonnieres, getting ready, and the couple on the staircase lined with more bougainvilleas and Agave plants. But that’s not even the most exciting part—we got to set sail with our bride + groom on The Mick Yacht, often used by Diamante for sunset cruises. We were able to get shots of our couple in front of The Arch!! I kept on pinching myself because I could not believe that we were all here, in Cabo, and we just wrapped up my dream shoot.

The “Skinny” on Lauryn Evart’s Stunning Cabo Wedding

If you are obsessed with The Skinny Confidential as much as we are, then you know that Lauryn Evarts is not your typical bride. Together with Del Cabo Weddings, this fashion influencer and blogger tackled her wedding in the same way she tackles her awesome blog posts – with a totally authentic and zen vibe. The results? A goth meets romantic affair that will definitely go down in history as one of our faves here at SMP. We love this lady.

If you’re one of the million people that follow Lauryn Evarts, you’ve been waiting on pins and needles to see her Cabo San Lucas wedding. Well, we’ve got the goods – and it’s a stunning affair with everything from a gorgeous gown (hey there, illusion cut-out) to a sophisticated black and gold color palette to an intimate locale on the beach that provided views for days. Lauryn’s vision for a luxurious goth affair was definitely one for the ages, and Del Cabo Weddings was there for every fabulous second… even those pink margaritas she had waiting for each of her lucky guests. (They’re good at all of those little details.)

We love Lauryn for a lot of reasons (her site is chock-full of examples), but we have to say that we fell even more in love with her when we followed along with her big day. Because, you guys? She did it HER way… and with the help of Del Cabo Weddings, it was really a party that stands out in all of the best ways. But that’s what Del Cabo Weddings is so well known for – taking your vision and really making it a reality. We’re obsessed with the long table for her intimate guest list and, of course, those black and gold stylings are everything. But what we really adore is her ability to kick aside traditions and do what felt right for her and her man. Tequila and champagne? No cake? A medley of fab cuisine? Check. Check. Check.

Why Planning a Destination Wedding Isn’t as Hard as You Think

We know that a destination wedding can be a little intimidating, but planning those nuptials in paradise really doesn’t have to be as hard as you think. Honestly. Because with the right team of vendors and a lovely locale like Mexico, everything can be just as simple as planning your big day right in your very own hometown. Need proof? The beautiful wedding of Tiziana and Roberto is all you’ll need.

Tiziana and Roberto’s wedding wasn’t just any old destination wedding – it was a two-day celebration with three (yes, three!) ceremonies, two dresses and a fireworks send-off. Basically a dream come true for any bride and groom-to-be, and we honestly can’t get over every gorgeous moment. But if you’re wondering how they put it all together so beautifully (we were, too, you guys), look no further than the team at Del Cabo Weddings. From their talented planners and designers to the totally fun wedding style quiz, they take the time to get to know each of their clients, so the end result is basically genius. (Just ask Tiziana and Roberto.) What does that mean for you? Well, for starters, you won’t be sitting miles away from your wedding destination cluelessly searching for the perfect venue. Del Cabo Weddings has a super close relationship with all venues and hotels in Los Cabos, so they’ll know just where to go. They can even set up venue tours, if you want to schedule an early visit. (YES.)

Tiziana and Roberto wanted a traditional Roman Catholic wedding, so Del Cabo Weddings guided them to the gorgeous chapel at One and Only Palmilla a week before their celebration, so they could officially tie the knot in a church as Mexican law dictates. The next weekend? Alllll about celebrating with their family and friends with two more beautiful ceremonies and reception for the ages at Le Blanc Spa Resort. We know what you’re thinking – but even though their big day MAY sound logistically impossible from the comfort of your (very far away) home, trust us. Del Cabo Weddings can handle it all. From their relationships with venues and hotels to their long list of amazing vendors, you can truly sit back and enjoy yourself while they take care of everything. And that includes your welcome party, going away brunch and all of the other etceteras, too.

With over 30 years of collective experience and a team of professionals that knows it all, Del Cabo Weddings is our go-to when it comes to those dreamy celebrations in Los Cabos. Contact them today to let them take the reigns. From their decor warehouse to their staff of techies, landscapers, planners and more (!), they can create that dream wedding you’ve always wanted on your budget – whether that’s an extravagant ballroom affair or a laid-back party on the beach.

A Fashion Blogger Turned Boho-Chic Bride

Ever the laid back Bride, Meggan of Somewhere, Lately, opted to let her planner, Lauren, from Amy Abbott Weddings + Events take the lead on creating the relaxed, boho-chic wedding she was dreaming of. As you can see from the breathtaking photos captured by Anna Gomes and the video by Cinematic Touch, Lauren did not disappoint. From the all-white Show Me Your Mumu Bridesmaids’ dresses to the rustic ceremony arch, every detail was beachy perfection. We seriously cannot pick a favorite!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/231308920 600 338]

From the Bride… Kyle and I decided on getting married in Cabo because we love the beach. I was a very laid back bride and let my wedding planner, Lauren, take the reins. I knew whatever she picked would be gorgeous and had total trust in her. I told her lots of florals, gold, lace, and wood accents for a relaxed, boho-chic vibe. She made my vision come to life, and I couldn’t have been more pleased.

We got married on the beach at Cabo Azul, which is in San Jose del Cabo. It’s private compared to the beach downtown, so you don’t have to worry about beach-goers in the background of your pictures. My grandpa officiated our wedding, which made it extra special. After the ceremony, our guests walked right up to Javiers for cocktail hour, which included a mariachi band, yummy cocktails, and appetizers. The reception was right next to cocktail hour, which made it easy for guests to get around. We started the reception with our first dance and then had everyone come and join us on the dance floor. It was so much fun to get some dancing in before dinner started and really set the tone for the party! Kilometro Band played, and they did not disappoint. After dinner and speeches, we danced the night away. It was a night we will never forget!

Black + White Cabo Wedding With All the Modern Vibes

It might feel strange to describe a wedding design as “sexy” but that’s exactly what this black and white Cabo celebration is. With vows on the beach followed by a reception on the rooftop, the incredible Hotel El Ganzo was exactly what Claire and Eric were looking for in their destination “I do.” Modern brides, consider this gallery by Emma Rose your new inspiration happy place.

From Emma Rose… San Jose del Cabo has always been Claire and Eric’s favorite spot so when it came time to plan their own wedding, they couldn’t imagine a better location to bring all their closest family and friends to celebrate. Located in San José del Cabo, Hotel El Ganzo is unlike anything else you will find in the greater Cabo area. They have created a place that celebrates diversity, creativity, artistry, and sustainability. It’s a place where individual expression reigns and guests can indulge and enjoy Los Cabos like never before.

One of the things you will first notice about Hotel El Ganzo is a unique style. El Ganzo itself actually means “The Goose”, a nod to the property’s long, white, sinewy exterior alongside the catching work of collaborative artists led by Pablo Sanchez-Navarros, who created the space. The hotel blends a modernist style with rustic elements, with clean white architecture juxtaposing in eye-catching ways with warm wood tones and bright accents.

When my second shooter and I arrived, we knew that this was going to be one of the most beautiful and unique weddings we’d ever photograph in our careers.

From the bride… In order to not distract from the beauty of the venue, we wanted to keep our decor and everything else really clean and simple. Our color palette was black and white with some natural wood touches and a bit of gold sprinkled in here and there. Overall, our vision was we just wanted to all of our friends and family to have an amazing time so we focused more on ways we thought would enhance their experience instead of focusing on going overboard on decorations or other details.

Our ceremony was at the beach club at Hotel El Ganzo, on a palm tree lined grass strip that juts out into the ocean. When we saw the location for the first time, Eric and I fell in love with it. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen. Our guests all took boats out to the location and back which we thought was a fun extra touch.

Everyone took boats to and from the ceremony which was fun. We had beers and margaritas for our guests out on the grass for before and after the ceremony which people seemed to really enjoy. Eric’s dad officiated the ceremony which made it all the more special for us. When Eric walked down the aisle with his parents we had a Spanish guitarist playing his parents wedding song, and when I walked down with my dad they played my parents wedding song. I loved the little details like that!

The reception was on the rooftop at Hotel El Ganzo. The view from up there is incredible and we loved the drastic change from the ceremony being by the beach to the reception having a more modern vibe. Everyone got to the reception and took their seats right as the sun was setting, which was spectacular. Our coordinator did a wonderful job with the decor and everything was picture perfect.

My advice for other brides planning a destination wedding is to have fun with it and don’t stress the little details. As long as you’re in this beautiful location with your closest family and friends – that’s really all that matters!

The best flower girls ever? These sweet grandmas.

After seven awesome years at SMP, I’ve finally landed on my fave wedding moment of all time. Yep, this beautiful bride asked her sweet grandmothers to act as official flower girls and if you’re thinking that’s the cutest thing you’ve ever heard, you would be right. Add to that heartwarming moment the prettiest backdrop in all of Los Cabos (hello, Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa) and you’ve got yourself a destination winner. See it all captured by GVphotographer in THE VAULT.

From GVphotographerThis amazing beach wedding took place at Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa, located just a few steps away from the sparkling Sea of Cortez just between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Lacey and Jeremy had a beautiful ceremony officiated by the best Minister in Mexico (he was my wedding minister as well). Their wedding was unique with a special twist by having their grandmothers as flower girls, scattering rose petals along the bridal path. At the conclusion of the ceremony in what is probably the best known of all the rituals associated with Jewish weddings it is customary for the groom to break a glass to confirm the union. After a few cocktails, tequila and a lot of dancing they decided to continue the party at the swimming pool. This was a fun wedding with friends and family, everybody had an amazing time in this Cabo destination wedding.

This is How You Do Tropical Elegance in Los Cabos

I’ve got serious spring fever right now and this tropical goodness is just about sending me over the edge. Planned by Esoteric Events, it’s elegance done oh-so-right among palm trees and seaside sunsets that make the sand glow. Pretty dreamy right? And let’s not even get started on the gorg color palette. Just stroll on over to the The Vault for the beauty in full captured by Sally Pinera.

From Kristin Alexander at Esoteric EventsMonica and JC love to travel and after hearing about the newly built Cape Hotel they took a trip down there from Chicago to visit and fell in love. They wanted their wedding to feel like a Wes Anderson movie and they instantly knew The Cape was the perfect backdrop for it. The weekend kicked off with a daytime pool party followed by dinner and drinks in town. Guests were able to enjoy wonderful food, live music and walk the town together before the wedding the next day. Monica opted for a warm color palette reminiscent of a Cabo sunset with wood farm tables and chairs to work with the venue and the existing decor. With only their closest family and friends in attendance it was a tight nit group who knew how to party and danced the night away to The Cape’s resident DJ, DJ Capri.

This Beautiful Bride Underwent Surgery 5 Days Before Her Wedding

I’ve read many stories that have pulled on my heartstrings in my four years with Style Me Pretty and those sweet stories still get to me today. This Bride’s battle with an illness that threatened her flight to Cabo for her Big Day is no exception. And when you watch the film below from Elysium Productions, I think you’ll be dabbing the tears, too. When you’re done drying those eyes? Head to The Vault for more from Kellie Kano!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/160146662 600 338]

From the Bride… I was lying in a hospital bed, anxious and afraid, clutching tightly to my fiancé’s hand. Our wedding was in less than five days, but I was waiting for the neurologist to clear me for surgery. This hospitalization was the most recent in the saga of my illness. Months prior, I was diagnosed with bilateral vertebral artery dissections. The arteries in my neck that bring blood to my brain had torn and clotted. With blood clots inches from my brain, I was a walking time bomb and major stroke risk. The diagnosis saved my life. Throughout all of the appointments, shots and procedures, Will was always by my side. I am so lucky to have found the love of my life. Luckily, after surgery, I was cleared to fly. Will and I moved our flights to Cabo San Lucas back a day and made it to our wedding in time!

How We Met: Will and I grew up only blocks away from each other, but it took over two decades for our universes to collide. I’m so glad they did. Will and I met through a mutual friend on a starry, summer night. He drank scotch and told a couple of jokes (I seem to remember one in particular about a French fighter pilot) while we all laughed and reveled in the energy of the night. In the middle of a lighthearted game of Truth or Dare, my friend sensed a connection between Will and me, and dared us to kiss. All eyes were on us as I turned toward Will, wondering what he would do. Our eyes locked, and before I had time to think, Will kissed me. The energy was palpable and a lively romance began. The stars had aligned, and we were finally in the same place, at the same time.

Five and a half years later, we gathered with 50 of our closest friends and family members in picturesque Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to celebrate a love realized. We carried out the motif of destiny throughout the wedding, and our theme, “Stars Align & Hearts Combine,” reflected the idea of fate and the importance of the universe and love. Will and I worked with our invitation designer, Swell Press Paper, to create custom letterpress invitations that reflected our theme. I’m a copywriter, so I loved working on the wording for the invitations and building our website, willovescarson.com. Since Will is a mathematician, we even included an insert called, “Carson & Will by the Numbers,” that listed important dates in our relationship.

A year before the wedding, my parents surprised me with a trip to New York City to pick out my dress. I found my dream dress at L’Fay Bridal, and then it was made-to-measure by Flora Bridal in Israel. It was form-fitting with delicate lace details, and lightweight fabric that made it perfect for Cabo’s arid climate. By the end of the night, I changed into a shorter, light blue dress so I could dance to my heart’s content.

The entire wedding weekend was full of emotion because it was the first time in months I was able to have fun and be around so many family and friends, despite my illness. Before the ceremony, Will and I decided to do a first look. It was an incredibly emotional moment because we had worked so hard to get there and we were just so grateful to actually be in Cabo, at our wedding, getting married.

Our colors were shades of pastel pink, blue and lavender to compliment the blues of the Sea of Cortez and the green of the lawn overlooking the desert cliffs during the ceremony. I had blue flowers in my hair that matched the blue flowers in Will’s boutonniere. The officiant read a passage I wrote about the meaning of love, then Will and I exchanged our own handwritten vows before sealing it with a kiss!

During the reception, we had dozens of traditional Mexican star lanterns hanging over the dance floor to create a celestial vibe. We draped fabric inside the Cabo del Sol clubhouse and had lots of hanging flowers and tall centerpieces with my favorite flower—dahlias, to create a romantic ambiance. Our planner, Gaby Cobian of Vivid Occasions, and the florists at Cabo Floral Studios really made our cosmic vision come to life. I’m so glad we had Kellie Kano and Elysium Productions there to capture the entire wedding weekend.

Our first dance was definitely one of my favorite moments. Our song, “Alive,” by Empire of the Sun, is very fast-paced. Will and I didn’t practice at all, and ended up trying to do the box step to EDM. By the second verse, we dropped formalities and just danced. Then, once the chorus started, we invited everyone to come join us out on the dance floor. I remember looking around and seeing our closest family and friends all jumping, dancing, singing along, laughing and reveling in the thrill of the moment. Standing in the middle of all that energy was incredible; we were so overwhelmingly full of love and I’ve never felt anything like it before.

The father-daughter dance was also really emotional because we danced to a song my dad sang to me as a lullaby growing up, “After the Goldrush,” by Neil Young. After a delicious meal and listening to thoughtful toasts, everyone was back on the dance floor for the rest of the evening. For our exit, Will and I rode off in a golf cart and surprised everyone as ground fireworks went off, lighting the path as we drove away under the night sky. I have the happiest memories from my wedding weekend. I am so grateful to my parents for giving me my dream wedding, and so thankful to all of our guests who joined us in celebrating our eternal love. It was nothing short of magical. I will remember it forever.

From the Bride… I wanted our day to be elegant and beautiful. At the same time, I wanted it to be FUN since everyone was making a special trip for us to Mexico! We wanted a destination wedding and once we decided on Cabo, we knew we wanted to incorporate Mexican elements into the day. Hacienda Cocina y Cantina was the perfect venue for this! We loved the idea of having our ceremony & cocktail hour on the beach, dinner in an indoor/outdoor space and dancing in the palapa along the Sea of Cortez.

Each bridesmaid wore a different style dress in a different shade of pink for an ombre effect. The escort cards were attached to maracas and were in pink ombre as well. The groomsmen’s bow ties had fish & hooks on them, which I thought was a fun, subtle element. My dress was a faint blush, which I loved! The beautiful florals were also different shades of pink and made for a very colorful and elegant setting.

For the day of the wedding, all of the bridesmaids, house party, flower girls, mother of the bride and I got ready in Mexican Mumu dresses. Jarrett and I loved our entrance into dinner, our intro song was an instrumental version of Jay Z’s “Big Pimpin'” and everyone shook their maracas so loud for the entrance. It was a surreal & awesome moment. We also loved dancing to Indian music with my Indian family members.

One of my most special details is the picture of my dad I had pinned to the inside of my bouquet, just like my sister did at her wedding. He passed away 10 years ago and it was nice to have my dad with me while my mom walked me down the aisle. Our first dance was “In My Life” by the Beatles. We both grew up listening to the Beatles with our parents and wanted a classic song.

A Hurricane Forced This Couple to Postpone Their Wedding Two Times! But It Was So Worth It!

Six weeks before their original wedding date, Cabo San Lucas was left devastated by Hurricane Odile, forcing this beautiful bride and groom to postpone their destination wedding. After further discussions with their vendors, including Amy Abbott Events, they decided to postpone even further. Thankfully, the third time was the charm and the day turned out beautifully with help from vendors like Del Cabo Event Design and Suzanne Morel Face and Body Care. See it all, courtesy of Cali Frankovic and Sam Perches, in The Vault!

From The Bride…Nick and I love to travel. Once engaged, we knew we wanted a destination wedding. We also wanted the celebration to be a week-long event with all of our family and friends. My career is in the hospitality/wedding industry, so a destination wedding was a must for me. I dreamed of leaving all of the wedding week events to the experts.

Choosing Cabo San Lucas was an easy decision for us. Nick and I were in a long distance relationship throughout our three years of dating and being engaged. In reality, our relationship grew out of a suitcase and countless plane tickets. Traveling just about anywhere for our wedding was not a problem for us. Cabo was an extremely well located place for both our northern and southern guests. The minute we arrived in Cabo for our first wedding site visit, we instantly feel in love with everything Baja. From the great people, to the fun culture, to the amazing food, we knew this was the perfect place.

Then, September 14th, 2014 happened. The beautiful town of Cabo San Lucas was hit by the devastating category 4 Hurricane Odile. At the time, our wedding was scheduled for November 1st, 2014, just 6 weeks later. Odile was a catastrophic blow for all the people in the Baja, as they went without electricity for weeks and many of their homes were destroyed. However, through it all, it was amazing to see the resilience of the people in the Baja. They immediately banded together and brought Cabo back to life in a matter of weeks. We had our hearts set on our dream wedding in Cabo, especially at the magical Esperanza Resort. Due to the damage from the hurricane and all of the uncertainties in Cabo going forward, we initially decided to postpone the wedding until January 2015. After further discussions with everyone in Cabo and at Esperanza, we made the decision to postpone even further, to March, 21st, 2015, as the resort was completely destroyed by the hurricane. Third time is a charm, right?!

Through it all, the wait was worth it! We kicked it all off the wedding week with a welcome dinner at The Office on Medano Beach. Guests enjoyed wonderful food, great live music, and the lively and fun beach atmosphere. The following day we took all of our guests on a private sunset cruise on the Tropicat, which was a huge hit. The sunset cruise included fun food, great music, breathtaking sunsets, and even a whale jumping show from the local talent. After the cruise, we continued the night with a pub crawl to all of the famous downtown Cabo hot spots.

The next day we hosted a beach party at the beautiful Esperanza Beach. With the help of the amazing staff, we created the perfect venue for fun in the sun, including lounge chairs, delicious food, and some signature margaritas. We followed the beach party up with the rehearsal dinner at Hacienda Cocina y Cantina. We had a live band, memorable speeches from our wedding party, and some more excellent Mexican food.

Esperanza is a secluded and magical place. Our wedding ceremony was located on the Esperanza Beach, with the backdrop of the crashing waves and the view of the famous arch. Seeing Nick for the first time that day, while I walked down the aisle, his uncle played the violin to tune of the traditional Wedding March, I was overwhelmed with love. My father, also a musician in his spare time, surprised me and wrote a song for my wedding day. As he played his song, “No Ordinary Girl,” there was not a dry eye in crowd. Nick and I kept the emotions going, as we wrote our own vows and pronounced our love to one another.

Following the ceremony, a Mariachi band played while our guests enjoyed the cocktail hour on the terraces of the Punta Ballena Beach Club. Then our guests enjoyed a three course dinner. The food portion of the reception was important to Nick and me, as we love great food and wanted to share that love with our guests. The meal started with tuna ceviche, followed by a deconstructed beet salad, and the main course options of lamb, tamales, or sea bass.

After dinner, The Kilometro Band fired things up and the fiesta began. We surprised our guests with a live donkey for the photo booth, as well as a cigar roller…both of which were a huge hit! We danced for hours, and then transitioned the party to the beach. We created the perfect late night venue with chairs and bean bags on the sand, fun food and snacks, and a bonfire. My father played music on his guitar, while our guests sang along late into the night. It was the best night of our lives!

They Returned to the Spot of Their First Vacation to Say “I Do”

When your first vacation as a couple is to Cabo San Lucas, why not return there for your wedding? For this Bride and Groom, a destination wedding in Cabo meant that they could share their memories with friends and family and create new ones together. And with the help of vendors like Creative Destination Events and Suzanne Morel Face and Body Care, is was a celebration to remember. Experience the magic for yourself, courtesy of Pink Palm Photo in The Vault!

From The Bride…We first met in Zurich, Switzerland at a work training program. The program continued in NYC where we planned to meet again for a run…and our relationship took off from there! In April 2014, he planned a spontaneous weekend trip to New York City. Since our first “date” was a run through Central Park, he planned for us to go for a run there and surprised me by proposing in the middle of our run! It was a very intimate moment!

We wanted our wedding to be an intimate event during which we had several days to spend with our closest family and friends, and for it to be a unique experience for everyone. That’s why we decided on a destination wedding!

Cabo San Lucas was our first vacation together and we had such an incredible time there so we wanted to share that experience with family and friends. It is such a meaningful place for us and our families. Our guests were skeptical at first about traveling to Mexico, but then became very excited and supportive!

Our ceremony location at Villa Turquesa was so beautiful & located in one of the most picturesque parts of Cabo. Our view was better than anywhere else I’ve been there! The gold and white decor enhanced the view, and we and our guests were stunned at the beauty of everything.

One of the best ideas we made for our wedding was having all our family and friends stay in homes together. We rented three villas in Pedregal. Casa Turquesa, in Pedregal, was where a majority of our guests stayed. It really brought everyone closer and allowed our families to get to know each other so much better than if everyone booked separate hotels. It was so much fun to wake up and have breakfast together and just hang out by the pool all day.

My dad walking me down the aisle and his speech were very meaningful. My dad had a heart attack two months before our original wedding date (April 2015). It meant so much to Chris and I and our families that he was there and was healthy enough to be a part of all of the “father-of-the-bride” traditions. I was so grateful for that.

For our ceremony just before sunset, we decided to write our own vows. Saying our own vows to each other was the best decision we ever made. I am terrified of public speaking so I had been worrying about it for months but it was such an intimate moment for us and I’m so glad that we did it. It was definitely one of our favorite moments.

Our first dance under the twilight sky is another best memory. We decided when we first started the wedding planning process that we wanted to have a really fun first dance to surprise our family and friends. It was such a memorable moment for us. We had all of our guests clapping to the music and laughing at us because of how silly and playful it was. It really set the tone for the rest of the evening! We had the most amazing lighting then too. The photos look so great!

Our photographers, a husband & wife team from Pink Palm Photo were amazing! They were so easy to work with and really made the process enjoyable and fun. They found lots of ways to make our photos look natural and not staged. And on the wedding day, we hardly knew they were there. Somehow they captured all the amazing moments we want to always remember but I feel like I never saw them!

From Creative Destination Events…Planning this’ wedding was an extraordinary experience, from the first site visit they did to the end of the evening on the wedding day!

The bride was seeking a very particular style. She wanted the mixture between something very elegant, classy and modern as well as natural.

The final showcase and décor was unique. An organic but very chic and elegant look with a modern touch reflected in the geometrical lanterns and gold accents.

One of our favorite design details was the way the white distressed tables made a perfect match with the beautiful chiffon runner, elegant but keeping the natural look of the furniture.

We also loved the combination of gold accents with very natural and organic flowers. And incorporating the beautiful setting of Cabo made the vision complete!

This Engagement Shoot Is What Love Looks Like

See these smiles? Yeah, that’s real. That’s genuine joy right there if I do say so myself and I can’t get enough of it. Dana Fernandez is my hero today, capturing these cuties in Cabo; if you’re in need of a mood boost, head right over to our Vault and you will not be disappointed.

From the Bride-to-be… We chose to do our engagement shoot in Cabo to capture our love for the beach and travel. Matthew and I have been to Cabo a handful of times together starting early on in our relationship. It is a very meaningful place for us where we have shared many fond memories and will continue to do so. To further emphasize our love of exploring the world together, Matthew is wearing a pair of shoes we got on a trip to Germany. We also love getting dressed up so we went all out with a suit and gown. Taking the photos was paired with a weekend spent in Cabo with both of our parents and Matthew’s aunt, Dana (the photographer ), which made it truly unforgettable!

A Cabo Wedding Designed for the Modern Bride

With family spread across 17 different countries, this couple knew a destination wedding was a perfect way to organize the chaos. They chose the beaches of Cabo San Lucas and set out to plan their sleek and chic nuptials with a sexy Baja vibe. From the hair and makeup by Suzanne Morel to entire floral and event design perfected by Elena Damy, there’s so much inspiration to steal and thanks to Ashley Bosnick we’ve got it all inside The Vault!

From The Bride…“Why Mexico?” everyone asked. “Why not?!” I said with a big smile. Douglas is Swedish, I’m from Chicago and we have family and friends spread over 17 countries. We loved the idea of all our friends and family being in the same country (let alone the same hotel) for five days to celebrate with us. And the added bonus of sun and sand for the albeit beautiful but rather pale Swedes made for an easy decision.

We began the festivities on Wednesday evening with a fabulous salsa beach party and ended with a barely able to stand Sunday brunch. It was important to us that everyone have the holiday of a lifetime, endless margaritas, late night tacos, sketchy “high-school spring-break” clubbing, and epic salsa dancing from my mother made the weekend just that – absolutely unforgettable.

Our wedding had a neutral palette with a European vibe and was held at The Resort at Pedregal with the reception held at a private villa in the cliffs of Pedregal. The day was everything we could have hoped for – surrounded by family and friends in a gorgeous place to exchange our vows and celebrate our marriage.

From Elena Damy Destination Weddings… As you can see from the breathtaking photos from Ashley Bosnick, Nina and Douglas’ wedding was the perfect blend of European elegance and modern Mexico. The bride and groom worked closely with our wedding planner, Claudia Morales, to carefully plan each aspect of the wedding weekend.

When it came time to create the event design, Elena Damy, our Creative Director and Lead Floral Designer, was inspired by the couple’s worldly, sophisticated style and playful, down-to-earth charm. Without a doubt, it was easy to bring their graceful tone into the already warm, rustic refinement of Pedregal. For the ceremony, Elena designed a natural wooden structure with an abstract display of cream and white flowers blended with twirling vines and greens. Lining the aisle were tall contemporary glass hurricanes, each holding a single open rose.

The bride’s bouquet mirrored the ceremony flowers, with open garden roses mixed with organic greens loosely cascading for a natural Baja feel. For the reception at Casa Turquesa, Elena layered classic table settings with neutral linens, natural woods, weathered metallic candles, and low, lush flowers for an intimate, family dinner. Subtle wooden Bride and Groom signs were hung on the back of the bride and groom’s chairs, and loosely strung flowers, crystal drops and organic vines hung from the chandeliers overhead.

Nina changed into another gorgeous wedding gown for their cake cutting and dancing into the wee hours! Bright, rich reds and sexy dance tunes put the finishing touches on Nina and Douglas’ amazing wedding weekend!

Elegant Cabo Wedding

Take a stunning duo, a dream team of vendors (hello, Amy Abbott EventsDel Cabo Event Design and Pina Hernandez) and an amazing Cabo locale and the results are this: a seriously sophisticated day overflowing with elegant details and beautiful moments.  From the fabulous golden touches to the lace table runners to the breathtaking seaside ceremony.  See it all captured by Sara Richardson in THE VAULT right this way.

From the Bride… I have always wanted to get married near the ocean and Cabo has always held a special place in my heart. Cullen and I have traveled there several times and made many great memories there. When we got engaged it was an easy decision to choose Cabo as the place to have our wedding weekend. The beautiful beaches, laid-back vibe, and great restaurants make Cabo a great place to throw a party. Within a few weeks of getting engaged we flew down to scout out a location for our big day. We hired the amazing Amy Abbott of Amy Abbott Events and scouted out our venue. We chose Cabo del Sol because it held the perfect mix of rustic elegance and natural beauty.

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect! We had 175 of our closest friends and family join us over the Memorial day weekend to celebrate. Amy Abbott and her awesome staff went above and beyond my expectations for the event and executed my vision perfectly. Everything from the lounge furniture, hanging lanterns and glass blown hearts on the place settings were perfect. Cullen and I were in agreement that the music was the most important element to the party. The James Speer band flew in from Austin and had our guests dancing before dinner was served and well into the evening.

Our friends and family had an amazing time and we are still hearing about how much fun our wedding was. Sara Richardson perfectly captured all our most precious moments throughout the night and we have a lot of really fun pictures from the dance party with all our guests. We both wish we could go back and experience it all one more time!
