Glamorous Maryland Garden Wedding

Gorgeous doesn’t even begin to describe this glamorous Glenview Mansion garden affair. A green oasis complete with lush blossoming Toulies En Fleur bouquets set the tone, while Sarah Culver captured our hearts with every image. With Pam Barefoot behind the scenes, each detail is a thoughtful, from stunning escort cards to family photos on display, each one is a sweet moment to be seen right here.

From Pam Barefoot at A Trendy Wedding… Glenview Mansion was the perfect backdrop for this summer wedding, with its natural stone work and beautiful gardens. The simplistic elegance of the setting allowed the wedding details to make the day perfect. The Bride envisioned her garden wedding fun but simplistic. Through the family photographs on display, the colorful floral details, fun paper products and the gorgeous bridesmaids’ dresses, we were able to bring her vision to life. We were able to create a memorable experience for everyone.

From the Bride… My favorite detail was the incredible flowers. Jill’s work was brilliant and exceeded my expectations in every way. The ceremony urns filled with cascading arrangements, the reception centerpieces in beautiful gold vases, the boutonnieres and especially my bouquet, everything was lovely.

My second favorite detail was the escort card display. All the pieces (easel, frame, push pins and cards) were absolutely gorgeous and looked great in the gardens.

The most memorable moment was the first dance. We had taken some lessons and did multiple practice runs on the day of the wedding, but were still a bit nervous; however, once the music started, it felt very effortless and I could not stop smiling.

Classic Plum Baltimore Wedding

My latest (and completely out of the norm) color obsession? Purple. I’m not talking the Barney kind of purple, I’m talking gorgeously rich hues of plum, burgundy and dusty lavender—the ‘grown up’ purples if you will. It’s the kind of palette that graced this stunner from Krista A. Jones, and I can’t seem to get enough. Along with every elegant touch, you can soak up this classic beauty right here!

From the beautiful Bride… Howard and I met at work; unfortunately he left his job about 3 weeks after I started to attend medical school. I wasn’t sure if I’d see him again but he made sure we didn’t lose contact. He invited me to a concert to see his favorite band, The Killers, and after that we were pretty much inseparable. When you date someone that is attending medical school you learn to make the most of your time together because you don’t get much of it. It wasn’t always easy but we made it work and he graduated in May 2013. I was so proud of him graduating and starting residency that I definitely didn’t expect him to propose any time soon. However, he surprised me the weekend of his birthday on October 19, 2013 by proposing in our little Baltimore row house living room – it was perfect!

I always knew that I wanted a fall wedding which gave me just under a year to plan our October 4, 2014 nuptials. I love the weather and the colors that autumn brings; however, I didn’t want to use the traditional orange and red color palette associated with fall so I decided to go a different route and use eggplant purple and gray as my two main colors with accents of ivory, gold, and silver throughout. Since Howard and I both love wine and took a recent trip to Napa Valley, I wanted to incorporate wine into the décor and also thought that it would go well with the eggplant purple hue I chose for the bridesmaids dresses and flowers. My florist, Brigid from Mobtown Florals, helped me create the “Napa Valley Vintage” theme for our big day by providing the flowers, mercury glass candle votives, silver urns, and a vintage wooden wine box to hold cards, not to mention adding grapes and pretty purple flower blossoms to the delicious cake from Sugarbakers. My sister and I made the escort card holders out of wine corks that Howard and I had been collecting over the years. I think Brigid described our wedding theme perfectly on her contract: “The overall feeling of the celebration will be rich and romantic, and the décor will embody a ‘Napa Valley’ vintage, vineyard style that celebrates the onset of autumn season with a unique twist from more traditional fall tones of oranges and reds, and will complement the intimate, one of a kind setting.”

We found the venue together and we instantly fell in love with it; it was unlike anything we had seen in our search of typical wedding locations. It was an old brownstone mansion in the Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore. It had beautifully ornate rooms with gilded walls and custom tapestry wallpaper as well as stained glass windows and a gorgeous dark wooden spiral staircase. It was so beautiful on its own that it really didn’t need that much decor; however, Brigid from Mobtown Florals really amplified the venue’s beauty with her fabulous execution of our “Napa Valley Vintage” theme. The ceremony took place just before sunset in the drawing room of the mansion with the aisle lined with glass pillar candles and two gorgeous flower arrangements on silver wooden columns to define the alter space. The party then moved into the rich mahogany library for cocktail hour and then the lavish ballroom for dinner. Finally the reception was held in the atrium which had a glass ceiling and twinkle lights everywhere – it gave a magical outdoor ambiance to our indoor reception where we literally danced the night away. Everything about our wedding day was beautiful and romantic and couldn’t have been done without the help of my vendors and all of our friends and family that made the day absolutely wonderful! I’m so grateful that my amazing photographer, Krista Jones, was able to capture all the special moments and details of the day for us to cherish forever!

From The Bride…I always knew that I wanted to get married at my childhood home! Family is a HUGE part our relationship. Our grandparents grew up with each other, our parents grew up with each other, and we even grew up with each other. It’s true — the save-the-date even featured a picture of us when I was 18-months-old and Brian was 3-years-old. The day of the wedding the weather was sunny and breezy! After a year of planning we had prayed for perfect weather and God certainly answered.

The ceremony took place in front of Fishing Creek as its backdrop, cocktail hour was around the infinity pool with signature rum punch and our reception was underneath the pole tent hung with lanterns. Probably the most memorable part of the night was my father-daughter dance. The song was a surprise. Just before my father gave a speech, recalling that his choice was made long before I was born. It was “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle; however, he had my little sister sing and record it.

Halfway through, my little brother came onto the dance floor with me. Being surrounded by everyone was exactly what we wanted at the end of the night when we lit wish lanterns off into the sky. The perfect ending to a perfect day.

From The Bride…We were married on a gorgeous day exactly one year after we got engaged in Annapolis, Maryland. The forecast called for rain all week but when we woke up on Saturday morning there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and a cool breeze fought back the June heat. Like many of brides, I dreamed about my wedding day since I was a little girl – a big white dress, a gorgeous venue, my best friends by my side, the love of my life waiting at the end of the aisle – all culminating in one fantastic party. What I could not have imagined was how much more meaningful my dreams became when they were translated into reality. That big white dress was a custom combination of two different Modern Trousseau dresses that my mom and I picked out together. Our venue was my father’s gorgeous home where so much of our love story had played out – from summers spent by the pool just getting to know each other, to boat rides on the Severn and South River’s where we eventually got engaged, to the two months my husband actually spent living with my father right before we got engaged. Our bridal party was made up of our best friends from college – the ones that watched our relationship grow from the very beginning and encouraged us to treasure what we had found in each other. The boy waiting at the end of the aisle? He exceeds my wildest dreams every day. And that fantastic party? Well the tone was set for that when Bill Murray crashed my husbands bachelor party and the video of his inspiring speech went viral. It was like our own personal PR campaign for the fabulous party to follow.

We were actually engaged and married on Flag Day. If you knew my husband you would know that he is obsessed with anything covered in an American flag and his favorite holiday is the Fourth of July. So while Flag Day is no Fourth of July, the date seemed like a perfect match. We were also married about 5 minutes down the river from the Naval Academy and thought incorporating small touches of the American flag into our day would be a fitting tribute. Instead of flower petals or ribbons we were saluted by miniature flags as we left the church. We had custom designed American Flag cornhole sets made for cocktail hour and my husband even gifted each of his groomsmen American flag socks, cuff links and shorts which they did not hesitate to parade around in.

While my entire family is from the Mid-Atlantic, my husbands family is almost entirely from Ohio. In order to celebrate them we incorporated some fun Ohio traditions into our food choices. One of our cocktail hour appetizers were little cornbread cups filled with the very distinctly Ohio style chili. For a fun treat after the cake, we flew in the most amazing Cincinnati ice cream from Graeter’s. However, I couldn’t ignore my Maryland roots and we were sure to find a spot for the classic Maryland crab cake on our menu as well.

In terms of overall decor we wanted to keep it as simple as possible in order to really celebrate our gorgeous venue. We were so absolutely lucky to have a location right on the water that is beautiful in its own right so we stuck to a palette of mostly textured whites with some soft pinks mixed in. We also added a pop of silver and some sparkle here and there as a fun accents.

I will never forget looking up at the tent from the dock after the sun went down. We could see the twinkling lights reflecting off the water and hear the sounds of the band playing while all of our favorite people in the world danced the night away. While it may be cliche, I now understand why so many brides say their wedding day was the best day of their lives. We floated through the day on a cloud of complete and utter joy and everything we ever dreamed of was executed to perfection. None of this would have been possible without our amazing vendors and we are so thankful for all of the hard work they put in. We will treasure these memories forever.

Peach Summer Wedding at The Oaks

This perfectly peach soiree from Natalie Franke is Southern charm to a T, with a fresh nautical vibe mixed in. The bridesmaids donning Donna Morgan pop beautifully against the stunning Bride, while whole peaches stuck with glittered flags top place settings and gilded crabs make an appearance. Oh, and when you head to the gallery, make sure to start with this blue-tied fellow. Isn’t he the cutest?

From Natalie FrankeA Nautical Wedding inspired with Southern Charm + Chesapeake Living! The bride and groom took a vintage getaway car away from the ceremony to a marina where they zipped into their reception by boat! The tables at the reception were adorned with shimmer, peaches, and little golden crabs! The florals were an organic mix of soft corals, creams, and pinks! Everything about this wedding was spectacular!

No matter how hard I try, there are no words that could adequately express how incredible Kim and Andrew’s Wedding was! Rarely do you see two people so unconditionally and unequivocally in love. At any given moment throughout the day, if you looked for the bride and groom, you could expect to see Kim laughing and Andrew looking at his gorgeous wife with the biggest smile.

One of my favorite moments of their wedding, immediately after the ceremony, was when Kim surprised Andrew with a convertible ride to the docks! When we arrived at the Marina, there was a vintage boat waiting to escort the couple into their reception! It was such a sweet gesture and an amazing moment for the couple to relax together before the festivities got underway!

Romantic Fall Seaside Wedding Inspiration

Summer may be long gone, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a bit of beachy inspiration now does it? Floral & Bloom and Love Buggs Events thought so too. They’ve crafted up an unrefined, flowy kind of pretty in the form of wildly beautiful blooms, sweeping calligraphy by Written Word and a Claire La Faye dress that’ll have you aching to twirl. Head to the gallery for more from Sally Pinera.

From the Event Designer, Divinity BoggsThe inspiration for our style shoot comes from a bride that is in love with the ocean. Being close to the sea refreshes her spirit and brings tranquility and renewal to prepare her for the next chapter in life. Our ideal bride is an empowered, free spirited woman who has a positive outlook on life and is not limited by anything.

Our vision for our bride’s table set-up and overall dress was to look effortless and romantic. We wanted to complement the flow of the ocean with light flowing fabrics on the tablescape, the bridal gown and veil. Natural earth tones of the beach and fall season were incorporated through seashells, tarnished silver and florals to represent the boldness of her spirit. Adding enchanted handwritten calligraphy and tapered candles was the finished touch we needed to complete our dreamy beach look.

From the Photographer, Sally PineraFall is a time where our surrounding colors are intensely bright and warm. Our vision was to create a dreamy seaside inspiration shoot during this beautiful season. To resemble the colors of fall, the shoot was set to be done at sunrise with pink and orange skies radiating in the background. The shoot began at the peak of sunrise and radiated all across the water. It was absolutely breathtaking! It was as if fall was painted across the sky and reflected onto the blue water.

The location of the shoot was at Brownies Beach. The beach was surrounded by high cliffs and covered in shells, fossils and broken down driftwoods. It was the perfect backdrop to design our romantically surreal shoot. Against this background, we were able to embody the colors of fall: rich burgundy, dark greens, pops of mustard yellows, mauve reds and soft earth tones. We incorporated lots of different elements that accentuated the theme by using things such as clam name cards, taupe linen menus with beautiful calligraphy, seashells, mustard yellow table runner, vintage metal and wood chairs, and even a wonderfully hand stitched clam journal!

Sunlit Chesapeake Bay Engagement Session

Not only is this sunny love sesh on the Chesapeake dreamy-as-ever (hello, gorgeous Vince Camuto dress!), but the story that brought these two lovebirds together is poetic to say the least. A love that blossomed from a lifetime of friendship resulted in these stunning images from Justin & Mary and we can’t get enough.

From Justin & MaryGorgeous dress alert! This, in its most beautiful form, is Lauren and Matt. Nothing less, nothing more, just fate that makes you look at each other and say “is this really us; is this really OUR story?” Friends since they were born, these two have managed to fall in LOVE. Their elegant bayside engagement shoot was captured by Justin & Mary Marantz during the most glowing golden sunset. The location is this couple’s most sacred place, the docks of the small town of Port Deposit at Tome’s Landing Marina. This hidden gem’s location is only known by boaters and locals with waters feeding to the most popular boating destinations. This session is full of pretty and soft color! Talk about a breathtaking dress, an adorable couple, and gorgeous scenery! This session is a MUST see!

The story of Lauren & Matt…Somewhere in Chapter 18 of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic The Scarlet Letter, he had the absolute brilliance to state that “love, whether newly born, or aroused from a deathlike slumber, must always create sunshine, filling the heart so full of radiance, that it overflows upon the outward world.” The story of Lauren and Matt is somewhat in between the newly born and deathlike slumber recounted by Hawthorne. The reality of destiny, and the finality of knowing that nothing else matters, is an awe-inspiring experience. This, in its most beautiful form, is Lauren and Matt. Nothing less, nothing more, just fate that makes you look at each other and say “is this really us; is this really OUR story?”

Around 1980, Karen Halupke and Renee Keefe met in the back of a car during a work-related drive. After briefly exchanging pleasantries, the two began informally recognizing that this chance meeting could, in fact, be the beginning of a lifelong friendship. By the late 80’s, Karen had welcomed two girls into the world, the second being named Lauren Anne. Meanwhile Renee gave birth to a baby boy 14 years into her first son’s life, naming him Matthew Kevin. As the two women grew closer, so did their families. Their husbands became good friends, their kids would play nicely in side rooms during dinners, and holiday and milestone gift exchanges became commonplace. Destiny was already working her magic, despite a wandering eye’s refusal to notice a bond which today is undeniable, and yes, borderline chilling.

Lauren and Matt had a common childhood and adolescent upbringing, with, of course, a few bumps in the road along the way. On the Jersey Shore, Matt made his way through elementary school before moving on to preparatory school and then college in Delaware. Lauren, meanwhile, spent her younger years in Hamilton, NJ through elementary, junior high, and high school. Her lifelong passion for art and design made the Art Institute of Philadelphia an easy choice for college; placing Lauren about a 35 minute drive north of Newark, DE where Matt was living and attending school. This was entirely irrelevant however, as the relationship between the two did not extend beyond anything more than a “hi” or a simple recognition of existence at yet another family get-together. Lauren was busy with her life, Matt with his. Memories of the past were simply that; memories, not motivation to experience more or recognition that destiny was calmly waiting for the opportunity to expose her power.

Through the web of social media, the justification of instant means of communication, and a chance work-related visit to Philadelphia by Matt, the initial dose of fate was introduced to the equation. Matt and Lauren began talking on an increasingly regular basis, spending some limited time together, and eventually feeling comfortable enough to attend Lauren’s older sister Krisitin’s wedding in July of 2009 as “friends.” Two weeks after this wonderful occasion, things would change drastically. Fueled off of a lifelong passion and a tremendous opportunity, Matt picked up and moved from New Jersey to Texas to become a collegiate basketball coach at Tarleton State University. He would spend the next three years in Stephenville, TX with only sporadic visits back to the east coast, mostly for holidays and maybe a long weekend here and there. The two stayed in touch, but it was nothing more than a text here or a Facebook post there. It seemed as if destiny was in the back seat, just as Karen and Renee once were. It was behind a driver, which was the equal, yet completely separate, lives which Lauren and Matt were leading. It was determined to not try any harder to show its face, and just let what is meant to happen, happen. And that is EXACTLY what occurred.

After making the decision to return to the east coast permanently in July 2012, Matt knew that a life without Lauren was COMPLETELY out of the question. Although it took some convincing that he was actually moving back (i.e. texting Lauren a picture of the packed U-Haul), the two knew that something had clicked and was completely undeniable. Destiny didn’t even have to show herself. Lauren and Matt knew whatever was going on was VERY real, very different. Soon after, it was easy to see and feel that mutual attraction and interest was quickly being replaced by love, support, and visions of the future. As the days became months, and the months a full year, there was no question that even a lifetime together wouldn’t even be sufficient for all of the laughs, love, morning coffees, adventures, and feelings of loneliness when the other person was gone for just a day. So then, on November 23rd of 2013, in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, Matt looked Lauren in the eyes, got down on one knee, and told her that he couldn’t live without her. Forever, just like the only numbers in the date of the engagement (1, 2, 3), there will only be three things: Lauren, Matt, and the love which they will eternally have for each other. Just like Hawthorne said, whether love is newly born, or aroused from somewhere previously unknown, the brilliance which it radiates throughout life is what is truly special, truly distinctive… truly, the Lauren and Matt story.

Springtime Wedding at the Sotterley Plantation

This Spring wedding gets my heart pounding. From the outdoor venue to the rustic blooms by Alicia Jayne, every detail is perfection. The entire day was seamlessly planned by Hitched By Heather while Birds Of A Feather Photography captured the gallery, and trust me you can’t afford to miss it.

From Hitched By HeatherThe stunning bride was raised in Southern Maryland, and she wanted to share a piece of her home with her future husband’s Washington family. Sotterley Plantation was the perfect venue with historic Southern Maryland charm.

After sitting down with Sarah to get her wedding vision to paper, her dream wedding team immediately came to mind. Sarah had secured the beautiful venue and the perfect duo of Birds of a Feather Photography. I knew Alicia Jayne Florals would be a crucial asset in pure gorgeousness and originality. Sarah knew pieces of what she wanted, but Alicia took it to the next level. I had goose bumps from the minute we sat down at the first design meeting, to when she brought her moss centerpieces to the site. Vintage Affairs provided rental pieces for both the ceremony and the reception. The church pews that Sarah choose for her ceremony were perfection and the farm tables were the perfect rustic touch for the barn. Sage String Quartet put the final stamp of enchantment as Sarah walked down toward her fiance Mike. You know it’s a magical moment when the photographers and wedding planner can’t help but cry.

The standard Groom concerns were food and music and Mike’s Barbeque did not disappoint! I never thought I would see BBQ served so elegantly at a formal event. The bride’s desire for Southern Maryland’s finest were brought out in the cocktail hour with passed Stuffed Ham Sandwiches, Mini Crab Balls and Coconut Fried Shrimp. DJ Jon Depompa exceeded the groom’s expectations on music. He played perfectly to the groom’s request and the feeling of the crowd. I’ve never seen a crowd get so excited for each and every song that came on!

From The Bride… After being together for a little over 5 years, Michael and I already knew we were going to make it official it was just a matter of when. We are a blended family, as both of us have a child from a previous relationship and we welcomed a daughter together over a year ago. Family is extremely important to us. Based on this we wanted our wedding to reflect not only a celebration of our love for one another but our love for our family and close friends as well. Ultimately we wanted our guests to have a wonderful evening with good food and good music!

We chose Historic Sotterley Plantation in Southern Maryland as our venue because we loved the natural setting it provided. The grounds are beautiful all on their own and therefore do not require much “dressing up”. We exchanged our vows under a big shade tree surrounded by our children, close family and friends. Cocktail hour was held on the back porch of the manor house overlooking the Patuxent River and our reception took place in the restored tobacco Barn. We loved that each event took place in a different setting on the property which allowed our guests to explore Sotterley Plantation without having to leave the party.

We were lucky to have some great vendors help us plan our special day. It really is a team effort when planning your special day and it is important to choose your vendors wisely. We could not have asked for a better team!

Our wedding was truly a magical day which gave us memories we will never forget.

From Krista A. JonesIf Marie Antoinette had a more relaxed, laid back little sister, this would be the perfect wedding for her. We drew our inspiration from the chic couple who wishes to have a glamorous but small, intimate wedding. The shoot mixes the formality of eclectic vintage accents with a hint of a bohemian garden vibe. A soft palette of blush pinks, ivory, and gold paired with bits of sparkle and antique china help create a look that is polished, glamorous and a little bit un-done.

The existing vintage inspired decor at Blackwall Hitch paired well with chic candelabras and elegant gold garlands from Intrigue Design & Decor. Jewel Hair Design created the most incredible up-do reminiscent of Marie Antoinette herself and Amy from XOXO Vintage rentals brought in the most gorgeous vintage settee.

From The Bride…Thankfully, yes I’ll say it again, thankfully my sister got married around three months before I did! Susie and I loved being engaged around the same time and we couldn’t wait to switch roles as Maid of Honor (or in my sister’s case, Matron of Honor). We talked about plans, shared our excitement, and we danced the night away for the second time at my wedding in August.

Strangely, the process of getting ready for the big day was not stressful. I had my perfectionist moments, but ultimately there was no reason to stress. I had a team of family and friends with gifts I intended to use … and that I did. My mom was still in wedding planning mode and therefore, ready to take on anything with her fresh coordinating skills. She and I put together the wedding invitations, and my mother, with the help of my grandmother, also made the groom’s and groomsmen’s tie and bow ties. I had eleven superb bridesmaids who put together anything I asked, including my creative sister, Susie, who could decorate an entire wedding on her own (oh wait, she already did that for her own wedding). My sister drew by hand the signage around the venue including the cake pops sign and the “Find Your Seat” sign, made the delightfully tasty cake pops, and crafted the “K and A” letters on the sweetheart table. Susie also applied my make-up and placed each hair on my head in just the right spot. My bridesmaid, Dana, wrote out the place cards and made the “5:00 Ceremony” sign with the time schedule. The fabric buttons on the place cards were made by a friend, Katie Audy. My programs were designed and drawn by another bridesmaid, Emily. My mother-in-law, Michele Meyer, made the most incredible wedding cake – it was excellent in both taste and looks. Our delicious and beautifully displayed meal was catered by family friend, Leonardo Paras.

We can’t forget the lovely ceremony music that was provided by friends, Austin Sebek, Caleb Woo, and Quinton Armacost, and we couldn’t have danced at the reception without our friends, Adam Norris and John Hoobler, who provided the DJ services. I even got crafty myself and made the earrings worn by my bridesmaids, which matched the buttons on the place cards for the reception, and made the table numbers. So, I guess you could say it was fitting that I chose a historic homestead as my venue since my wedding was fashioned by family and friends: a homemade wedding if you will. When August 25th rolled around, the weather was gorgeous and the ribbons on the ceremony tree were lovely.

The perfectly peach and mint green colors flooded my eyes from the flowers to the bridesmaid dresses they so carefully coordinated from numerous shops. Kit and I met on either side of a wall to pray before the ceremony performed by his father, Ronald Meyer. An overwhelming spirit of joy pervaded as my guests all stood and sang, “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us.” The evening was filled with rejoicing, laughing, eating, drinking, and dancing. The entire day is worthy of remembering, however, this is the moment I most clearly remember: We had just made it through the sparklers and the car door shut after clearing away the paper, the screaming of our friends and family grew quieter as we turned out of the venue, and an abundance of gratitude immediately flooded over us both. We were overwhelmed in the best possible way. What made our wedding so beautiful wasn’t the decor or the nice breeze, but the hands that made those decorations and everyone that came to celebrate with us. God placed amazing people in our lives, and a good many of them surrounded us that day.

From The Bride…When brainstorming inspirations for our special day, we knew we wanted a small, intimate gathering with our closest friends and families in a laid back, casual setting. We also both love nature and being outside, so we definitely wanted an outdoor ceremony with open scenery and lots of greens.

My fiancé Tommy and I met 20 years ago in middle school in Dallas, Texas. Although we’ve each since lived in many different states and countries, we both have strong southern roots, especially in southern BBQ! So we definitely wanted to include some of our favorite dishes to eat together: pulled pork, shrimp & grits, Texas corn pudding, brussel sprouts, and cornbread. When we visited Sotterley Plantation in Hollywood, Maryland, we instantaneously fell in love with the openness, the beautiful scenery, including the Patuxent River, the historic plantation buildings, as well as the magnificent barn. We both knew it was the perfect backdrop for our day.

Being that we were on a tight budget, Tommy and I decided not to hire a wedding planner but plan everything ourselves. This proved to be challenging, given that he was a full-time student and I was a surgical resident with busy schedules. But looking back, it gave us the perfect opportunity to find the right vendors who helped bring our vision to reality and to incorporate all the details that reflected us as a couple. We even found a local Mennonite family with a flower farm to do all our flowers for an unbeatable price. And the flowers turned out beautifully.

All the details at the wedding were DIY by us – everything from the cake toppers to the chalkboard signs. Not only did Tommy build the beautiful alter, he also built the flower boxes, the signs, and the ladders we used to hang the escort cards. I hand painted all of the signs for the wedding and used coral and ivory yarns to decorate the table numbers, mini jars, our initials, and the backdrop sign that we used as a backdrop for our sweetheart table. To go along with the southern theme, we rented colorful, vintage fabric napkins from Etsy and bought bamboo plates and utensils.

To represent our Korean American background, we also wore our traditional Korean costumes during the cocktail hour. For favors, in addition to the mason jars our guests used as drinking cups for the night, we handmade mini polaroid magnets with romantic and vintage pictures hand-picked by us for our guests to take home. We even made personalized sheets that our guests used to take their own polaroid pictures home on.

Our most favorite detail from the day would have be the feet washing portion of the wedding ceremony, which not only represented our faith in Christ but also our first acts of service to one another as husband and wife. All in all, it truly turned out to the best day ever filled with joy and love – a day that we will treasure for the rest of our lives.

Country Club Wedding With Pops of Purple

Set at Stone Manor Country Club, this wedding had a sophisticated sparkle. After exchanging vows under a beautiful Oak, the couple moved indoors to an even more romantic ambiance designed by Roberts & Co. Events. With pops of purple at every turn, including the bride’s bouquet by Da Vinci Florist, you can see all of the FABULOUS affair, thanks to Darling Photographers, right here.

From Roberts & Co. EventsCherrie and Jorge came to us wanting to plan a wedding that felt sexy, romantic, and had amazing food and music. They wanted to make sure that the ambiance was unlike all the other weddings they had attended in recent years. We planned for the wedding at Stone Manor Country Club surrounded by a small group of friends and family. They were married under an aged oak tree as sturdy as their faith, incorporating the details of her Philippine heritage of the coin, cord, and veil and supported by their sponsors that were made up of family members. Guests were given programs that had lavender satchels on the back to toss for the newlyweds as they came back down the aisle. We started with a color story of platinum, dusty rose, and orchid and wanted to bring in a lot of sparkle, and create a fun yet sophisticated vibe using wash lighting, hanging chandeliers, and linens flown in from California from the all wonderful La Tavola fine linens. We mixed together rectangles and rounds with alternating linens incorporating ruffles and sequins. The tables were layered with candles and lush textured arrangements that really made the room feel romantic. The bride and groom danced the night away surrounded by friends, occasionally piling into the photobooth for tons of silly shots. The bride has a big sweet tooth so we incorporated a purple and silver candy table for the younger crowd as well as a three tiered cake covered in rosettes and delicious buttercream tiers. With layers of crystals, glass, and candles draped around the room the night felt romantic and sexy all at the same time. Guests were greeted into the tent with large framed mirrors with calligraphy by Meant to Be Calligraphy surrounded by floating candles and custom linens.

Maryland Barn Wedding at Chanteclaire Farm

Oh to be a guest at this wedding. I would have loved every second of it. The details are perfection and the gorgeous farm setting couldn’t be more charming if it tried. But you know what I really love? This couple. Every gorgeous image captured by Kelsey Kradel Photography shows two people hopelessly in love, and that, my friends, gets me every single time. See even more here.

From Kelsey Kradel PhotographyI am beyond excited to share this lovely Maryland mountain farm wedding with you! A West Virginia country girl and a Brooklyn city boy got married on a sweet summer day on a beautiful country farm in the mountains of Maryland.

From the Bride… We chose a summer Saturday on the 17th as the 17th had meaning to us considering we had met on St. Patrick’s Day two years prior. I was living in Nashville, TN at the time and visited a college friend in New York City on a whim. It was a combination of the high energy of the city that day and an instant attraction that neither of us could deny that turned into that kind of love you only see in the movies, except it was real. Ten months later after hours upon hours of phone conversation and flying back and forth, I packed up my belongings and left the south for New York City. He proposed 3 months later with a rose gold and champagne diamond ring as we were sitting outside of our apartment while the Beach Boy’s “God Only Knows” played on the radio.

Since four of our friends were getting married before us that year we wanted our wedding to have a different vibe and atmosphere so it wouldn’t feel redundant for some of our guests. Our main goal was to keep things simple, relaxed and most importantly an all around good time. Instead of the location being in one of our hometowns – mine, a small town in West Virginia, his, Staten Island, NY we decided to venture to Maryland to “meet in the middle”. Chanteclaire Farm was the first place I found in my search for a venue and the only place I visited. On 100 acres of hills, the 1870 Barn was filled with so much character and charm and I immediately imagined a warm summer evening that would be unforgettable! The venue then became the inspiration – rustic, romantic, and casual.

Our wedding day wasn’t necessarily non-traditional, but we really just played by our own rules. The night before the wedding we stayed together in the farmhouse on the property and drank champagne. We met each other right before the ceremony for a “first look” by the pond with only our photographers there to capture the moment. We had decided from the beginning not to have a bridal party but incorporated our friends and family in other ways. One of them being asking one of our good friends to marry us so he got ordained online a few weeks before which wasn’t known to our guests until he walked to the altar to begin the ceremony!

Our 150 guests were shuttled to the farm from a nearby hotel and were taken down the long tree lined drive. They were greeted at the front of the barn with spiked sweet tea and lemonade and were escorted to the outdoor ceremony site in front of a small pond and giant oak tree. The altar was at the end of a stone path adorned with wooden crates full of baby’s breath and tea stained lace curtains that were tied with twine. We wrote our own vows for the short ceremony that brought on some laughs and happy tears! Guests were then able to gather in the lower level of the barn for a cocktail hour or sit outdoors on the patio on couches made of hay bales covered in linen while we greeted everyone as Mr. and Mrs.

The reception followed on the main level of the barn that was outfitted with antique furniture and three large crystal chandeliers. I chose a variety of flowers in hues of white, peach and blush which filled rusted tin cans and antique bottles on each of the tables. The food was homemade in the in-house kitchen and had a southern flare – Apple and brie stuffed chicken, string beans and roasted sweet potatoes followed by homemade peach and apple pie. The cake was also made in-house which was lemon with vanilla butter cream and raspberries.

We decided to have a live band play for us not only because they were a favorite to watch in New York but also because we had watched them together the night we had met. They gave us an incredible rendition of the Beatles “Don’t Let me Down” for our first dance and then took over and really turned the night into an amazing party that kept everyone on the dance floor. We ended the night with our guests in front of the farmhouse around a bonfire cooking hot dogs and s’mores. The weather was perfect, our photographers were amazing and the staff at the farm went above and beyond! The entire day and night were exactly as we had imagined and we left the farm the next day (with leftover homemade pies in tow) completely overwhelmed with love!

Vibrant Dutch Wedding Inspiration

Drawing on Dutch culture, this photo shoot, shot at Woodlawn Manor in Sandy Springs, is as rich in history as it is in color. Designed by Petals By The Shore, the tablescape was layered in vibrant shades of reds and blues that literally pop off the page. And, with a floral-crowned bride styled by Amy Decker Beauty, dressed by Fabulous Frocks and gussied up with a little something blue from The Garter Girl, the gallery is sure to be a must see for some serious inspiration.

From Rachael FosterBoth sides of my family are originally from Friesland, a northern province of the Netherlands, and many of the Dutch and Frisian items in the shoot are family heirlooms. I’ve always been inspired by my cultural history, and I’m thrilled to share some of the traditions and keepsakes that have been passed down to me. Through this shoot, I hope couples of all different ancestries will feel inspired to incorporate their own traditions and heritage into their wedding.

Though Friesland is a tiny province (about 500,000 people), it has a rich cultural heritage. The people of Friesland are known for building the first windmills and dikes and breeding beautiful horses and cattle. It’s an incredibly beautiful place filled with idyllic villages of brightly trimmed brick farmhouses, beautiful green landscapes, and gorgeous waterways. The culture and landscape of Friesland (and the traditions of the Netherlands more broadly) inspired us to craft a fresh, vibrant, and romantic wedding.

Friesland’s red, white, and blue flag and the Netherlands’ royal orange provided our primary color inspiration. Throughout the planning and styling, we included Frisian and Dutch artifacts and customs including Delft tile inspired place settings for our dinner table, an antique Dutch coffee set, and the Frisian flag. In lieu of a guestbook, we crafted a series of small wishing trees. According to Dutch custom, guests write wishes and greetings on tags and hang them on a tree. We displayed our wishing trees on a vintage white dresser with small floral arrangements in antique pewter vessels. The Dutch love bicycles, and our bride and groom enjoyed a ride on their own vintage tandem. After their ceremony, they celebrated with the Frisian custom of a horse-drawn carriage ride. This gorgeous wedding could easily be set in the U.S. or in a Frisian village.

We chose Woodlawn Manor in Sandy Springs, MD for our location. The beautiful brick manor house, long green pastures and old stone barn reminded us of a traditional Frisian home. The natural beauty of this working horse farm paired with gorgeous floral designs, unique vintage pieces, and modern styling made for a perfect marriage.

Our bride-to-be wore a stunning cream-colored Badgley Mischka lace gown and shoes, earrings by Sara Gabriel, and bracelet by Meg Jewelry. Her Dutch-inspired braided side up-do and vibrant tulip headpiece was the perfect combination of romance and whimsy. She carried a voluminous loose bouquet of red and orange tulips. Her groom to-be wore a navy Hugo Boss suit, Burberry plaid tie, and boutonniere of complimentary orange and red blooms.

The ceremony space was set against Woodlawn’s original stone barn. To complement it’s picturesque arches, our florist crafted stunning moss walls with voluminous floral sconces. With farm-style chairs, the ceremony blended garden aesthetics and honest country details.

We set our dinner table outside the Mansion on the lawn and paired Delft style plates with royal blue glasses and a bold floral tablescape. The center statement arrangement of bright red, orange and yellow blooms was perfectly paired with soft cream jute linen and royal blue napkins. Tuscan farm chairs and wicker base plates completed the table.

Coffee and tea are staples of Frisian life, so we served up place cards on heirloom coffee cups featuring different styles of Dutch clocks. We added vintage ceramic clocks in pastel hues for color. We also set a lounge area with a vintage sofa, side table and floral chandelier near near our coffee and tea bar. The romantic floral chandelier was hand-crafted using moss and fresh cut flowers. Our coffee and tea bar also included hot cocoa alongside tempting confections of Dutch pastry, chocolate dipped spoons, sugar crystal sticks, and, of course, cream and honey. Signage included translations of English words into Dutch and West Frisian.

No Dutch wedding would be complete without pastries. Our dessert table is a delicious confection of favorite Dutch pastries: cinnamon rolls, fruit tarts, almond cookies, layered puddings, and our own special creation of “Dutch Orange” macarons.

Nautical Yet Elegance Maryland Wedding at The Annapolis Yacht Club

I’ve been starring at this stunning Maryland wedding for some time now, and I don’t think I’ll be looking away anytime soon. Just take a peek at these gorgeous images form Krista A. Jones and you’ll see why. I’m just obsessed with this wedding’s gorgeous blend of maritime touches with pure timeless elegance. The result is a soiree I simply can’t get enough of, and you can see why here.

From The Bride….Both Matthew and I were born and raised in Maryland. We love the state, and most especially, the city of Annapolis. The beauty and character of this historic, sailing town has always charmed us. What better place to celebrate our marriage than the place we have always known and loved? St. Mary’s is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen, and with my father’s love of sailing and my grandfather being a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club, these two venues were the perfect choices for our ceremony and reception sights.

There is a painting by my Great Uncle Leo that inspired the old world design of our wedding. This painting, which was on display at our reception, depicts two sailing ships on a stormy sea. This maritime style was woven throughout our wedding, from my father’s hand drawn motifs on our wedding paper components, to the muted blues and grays in the florals and decor–and, of course, we will never forget firing off the cannon for evening colors!

My mother’s side of the family is from Louisiana, and in my travels there, I have absolutely fallen in love with the culture–the upbeat music, delicious food, southern traditions, and fun atmosphere—just about everything! Matthew and I both went to New Orleans for our Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties, so it is now a mutual love! We wanted to incorporate some of the elements and traditions true to this special place into our wedding. After our church ceremony, The Bay Winds Dixieland Band set the tone by playing lively jazz for guests as they sipped on a variety of cocktails, including our signature drink, which was chosen in honor of our first dance, “La Vie En Rose”. Following cocktail hour, The Rollex Band took the reception to the next level and completely filled the dance floor. Before cutting the cake, the bridal party and parents of the bride and groom pulled ribbons and pearls out of the wedding cake to reveal charms of fortune. Delicate chocolates from Sucre Boutique in New Orleans were placed on the tables as favors for guests. We couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate being married than with good music, good food, good friends, and some southern flair. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!

They picked the perfect location for their session, the place where they first met 8 years ago: Maryvale Preparatory School in Maryland. The sun was setting as we were walking through rose gardens, by waterfalls and labyrinths. We stopped for a few shots at the same spot under a tree where Brenna and Dave had their prom pictures taken years ago. They had a quiet moment by the tables where they went on their first date. Rustic Farmhouse Wedding in Maryland

After a tragic accident left the groom learning to walk, this couple was forced to set back their wedding date a year. While the rustic farmhouse affair was spilling with charming details from Heavenly Flowers, we’d have to agree with Meaghan Elliott Photography; what’s best about this wedding is their love story and courage. Click here for a peek at true romance.

From Meaghan Elliott PhotographyShannon and Chris are incredibly sweet people… I couldn’t ask for sweeter clients. And, they had quite the setback for their wedding planning.

They were actually planning to get married last September 14th, however, Chris got in a jet ski accident, shattered his pelvis, and couldn’t walk.

So, they postponed the wedding, and I just can’t even imagine how much stronger they are for going/growing through that trial. Sadly some people might have walked away from a hard situation like that… but not these guys. Shannon was at his side the entire way… pushed him in his wheelchair, and stood beside him through his rehab.

They know commitment…. they know hard work…. they know it takes two…. that there is give and take in relationships, and that they sure aren’t easy.

When you stand up there and say your vows…. through good times and bad…you generally have no idea what life will throw at you, but I can say without a doubt that these guys understand that statement and are ready for whatever life throws.

I loved that while walking around with them for photos, Shannon would just look into his eyes, and tell him that she loved him… like a giddy teenager. Her love poured out of her heart so strongly, that she just couldn’t not tell him… She looked at him with complete adoration and affection… and he did the same to her.

They know trial and commitment, and the sweetness that comes out in the end. Their journey wasn’t easy, but they battled through and they have a deeper love because of it.

So, as much as I ADORE their details and their venue…. it doesn’t matter all that much. What I really love about this wedding is their love story and their courage.
