From Infatuating AffairsThis elegant hometown wedding was perfection. Our bride chose to get married at the beautiful Historic Oakland mansion in her beloved hometown of Columbia, Maryland. The venue was just five short minutes from the home where she grew up and only two minutes from where she graduated high school. Inspired by her favorite colors as young girl, pink and purple, she stayed true to her love for pastels making this one soft pretty spring wedding. Every heart was moved, and not one eye was dry, as the father of the bride walked his daughter down the aisle, a moment this family thought they might not see after he suffered a debilitating stroke in 2006. Even then he declared “I want to walk my daughter down the aisle” and so, he did. This vintage inspired spring wedding was truly a dream come true for this lovely bride and her family. It is not just a story of a beautiful love between the bride and groom, but it is also a story of triumph, determination, and family.

Romantic Evergreen Museum And Library Wedding

One look at the Evergreen Museum And Library and it’s easy to see why this beautiful bride + groom had only one venue on their list – it’s breathtaking.  But add in some ah-mazing DIY details, vintage meets rustic stylings and gorgeous golden hues and it takes on an entirely new level of pretty.  See every fabulous moment captured beautifully by Edward Winter of READYLUCK right here in THE VAULT.

From the Bride… In planning our wedding, Braden and I had always agreed that our biggest priorities were to ensure that our guests enjoyed themselves while celebrating our marriage alongside us, and that whatever the celebration materialized as, most important was that it reflected who we were as a couple and how grateful we were to have everyone we loved together in one place.

The week after we got engaged in October 2014, The Evergreen Museum & Library was the first and only venue that we visited in the hopes of finding an available date. And, much to our inconceivable luck, we were able to secure August 15, 2015 at both The Evergreen and at the Loyola University Alumni Chapel – two places so special to us that throughout the months of planning we would often pause and ask each other, “Can you believe we got this lucky?”

I envisioned a style that was ethereal, timeless, and elegant while at the same time laid-back and welcoming. We chose a color palette that celebrated natural beauty of the grounds including evergreen, pale peach and blush tones, ivory, and mixed metals of antique gold and silver, and infused it into everything that we created.

With a creative background and a passion for do-it-yourself projects, I immersed myself in as many of the projects and the creative details as I could (for better or for worse), working especially close with our vendors – all of whom were so accommodating and inspiring to work with that by the time our wedding approached, they felt like good friends who were there to celebrate with us. Our florist was sweet enough to let us be very much a part of the design process for all of our floral arrangements, an area that we agreed was one of the most integral design elements of the day. We chose leafy deep greens in tribute to The Evergreen, soft peach garden roses, and ivory spray roses as our main florals, opting for loose yet somewhat structured arrangements throughout. Amidst the table arrangements we interspersed mercury glass hurricane vases in varying heights along with Victorian rose-colored glass votives, which paired beautifully with our ivory gold-trimmed china. We incorporated a number of vintage pieces as well, including mahogany farm tables, a white washed barn door converted into a bar that we used as our DJ stand, and gorgeous wrought iron chandeliers that we adorned with greenery and clusters of flowers.

While I am so proud of the many things that we designed and created for our day, I think the most special detail was our escort cards. My grandmother who had passed less than a year earlier, only days after Braden had asked her and my parents for my hand in marriage, had always taught me the importance of picking up stray pennies, no matter where you found them as they were “pennies from heaven” and symbolized luck and that someone, somewhere was thinking of you. After her passing and throughout our engagement, Braden and I began finding pennies seemingly everywhere. Wanting to incorporate her presence in our day in a subtle but special way, we knew that pennies would be the way to do it, not only to honor her, but also to pass a little luck off to our guests as a thank you for joining us. We spent hours carefully hand stamping pennies issued in 2015 with each guests’ table number, and then affixed them to escort cards that I had designed individually to match all of our paper goods. At our cocktail hour, guests collected them from a vintage window display that Braden’s father had built for us, repurposed from their old beach house in Long Beach Island, NJ where we had spent so many summer weekends. In addition to their lucky penny seating card keepsake, donations were made in our guests’ honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in lieu of traditional favors.

If there is one piece of advice that I could give brides-to-be, it would be to continually remind yourself and each other that the true purpose of the day is to celebrate the love you have for one another, and to always keep that in mind throughout the planning process. It’s easy to get caught up in the details, and they can definitely play a role of importance, but the most rewarding parts of the day won’t be the things you can see or touch – it will be the way the moments you shared with each other and your guests made you feel and the memories of them that you will carry together for a lifetime.

Classic + Romantic Wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club

I’m describing this Chesapeake Bay Beach Club affair as romantic, but honestly?  It’s so much more than that.  Think the classic stylings of Kruse & Vieira Events, beautiful florals crafted by Petal And Print and the sweetest British meets American touches.  In other words?  It’s absolute perfection… and you can see it all captured beautifully by Krista A. Jones in THE VAULT right here.

From the Bride…. Justin and I met soon after I moved to London from Maryland for my Master’s degree six years ago. I’ve always had an obsession with British culture and history and knew from an early age that I would eventually marry a Brit!

Although we met and still live in London, we both wanted to have our wedding close to my family in Maryland and on the water – something a bit different from the usual English garden wedding. We had over 40 people come over from the UK and wanted to incorporate a few nods to British culture throughout the day. Our signature cocktails were The Brit and The Yank, which consisted of a cucumber rose gin and tonic and sweet tea vodka, respectively. Some of the flowers littered throughout the venue were held in vintage tea tins, and Justin and his groomsmen looked very handsome in the traditional English morning suit. We had a cricket (Justin’s true love) theme for our escort board and table names, which our planners, Kruse & Vieira Events, executed without flaw. As a lover of Tudor history, we also had the Tudor rose as a rose gold wax stamp on all of the place card names.

K&V Events saw our vision for a dual-nationality, glam wedding with a loose, romantic and organic feel (quite the brief) instantly. They were able to turn every area of the venue into something better than we could have imagined, including arranging some of the flower decor. Petal & Print put together our gorgeous bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces in a loose style with creams and whites, soft pinks and lots of greens. From the soft breeze and lapping water during the ceremony to the absolute best filet mignon and crab cake, the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club was the perfect venue, and Krista and Davey from Krista A. Jones Photography captured the soft golden light of the sun setting perfectly. All set to music from the beautiful voice and acoustic guitar of the 3West Band, the day was intimate, elegant and strangely relaxing.

From start to finish we and our guests were so impressed by all of our vendors – we could never give them enough praise nor gratitude for helping to turn one of the most important days of our lives into an absolute dream.

Rustic Stone Manor Country Club Wedding

From the sweetly mis-matched ‘maids to the Bride’s lace-edged veil to these newlywed snuggles, this day from Krista A. Jones absolutely radiates timelessness. And it has me missing those warm summer breezes and lush greenery like you wouldn’t believe. Thankfully, I can hang out in THE VAULT soaking it up for as long as my heart desires. Join me!

From The Bride…Eric and I met in 8th grade homeroom class. We became extremely close friends freshman year of high school when Eric and my brother, Derek developed a friendship. Eric was around a lot to hang out with my brother which also grew our friendship. We were best friends all through high school and started dating our freshman year of college and have been together since.

My inspiration behind Eric and I’s big day was bohemian style. I am in love with the ‘bohemian styles’, I think it is so beautiful and I knew I wanted to try and create something similar on our wedding day. There were so many things that I knew I wanted in our wedding just from looking at pinterest. I knew that I wanted something simple but gorgeous at the same time. Eric and I always knew we wanted to get married outside (If the weather allowed us) and somewhere on a lot of land. We chose Stone Manor because it was by far the most breathtaking venue out of all the ones we visited. The second we drove down the pebble driveway and looked at the view we both knew it was the one. It was everything we wanted, a package deal. Outside ceremony under 2 weeping willow trees, tent reception with open flaps, beautiful scenery for pictures, bride and groom lounge for the day of. Aside from the somewhat far venue we loved the atmosphere and location.

I always said to myself that the colors to our wedding had to be neutral because I didn’t want the wedding to pass and hate the one color that was so dominant throughout. That is why we picked ivory’s, greens and blush accents. A lot of our special touches were DIY; wedding favors (We wanted everyone to take something home with them that they would have and think of us when they looked at it; we thought what better way to do that then give them a succulent; another bohemian touch! Our chandelier that hung over us while we exchanged our vows was my aunts project. She thought of the whole idea and it looked absolutely stunning, our wedding book table with all the collages of Eric, myself, friends and family, our center pieces. My cousin and I even designed our wedding invitations.

Casually Elegant Hometown Wedding in Baltimore

Amanda and Mark met on their very first day of residency at Johns Hopkins, and the rest as they say is history. History in the form of a hometown wedding with Caroline Logan Photography behind the lens that’ll have you headed straight to THE VAULT for more. From the MLC Designs invitations, to the luxurious La Tavola, this is one gallery you’re going to want to see.

From Eventi By Diana VendittoAmanda and Mark met on their very first day of residency at Johns Hopkins at a welcome party for new housestaff. Amanda thought, “Sharp guy… I wonder if he knows he’s handsome…” They chatted only briefly that night, then dove into the busyness of first year – he in anesthesia, she in ophthalmology. Sharing not just a workplace but a neighborhood, church, gym, and (the all-important) Whole Foods, Amanda and Mark ran into each other often. Finally Mark called her to go out to dinner and the rest was history!

From The Bride…Mark & I got engaged during a year apart, while we were finishing the last stages of our medical training. His surprise Christmastime proposal was a testament to the unparalleled care (and craftiness!) of our friends and family, from my sister (and maid of honor) secretly helping him design my gorgeous ring to my roommate orchestrating his unexpected appearance in North Carolina, all the way from Massachusetts.

As we started planning our wedding in Baltimore – my hometown and the city where we’d met as medical residents – we knew we wanted the day to highlight our faith, our closeness to our extraordinary families and friends, and the effervescent joy we’d found in loving one another. We wanted to strike a balance of warmth and casual beauty, while paying homage to Baltimore’s history, character, and cuisine. The ceremony site was decided quickly: I was baptized and grew up in Timonium Presbyterian Church and the traditional simplicity of its red brick and white steeple made us feel right at home. A whirlwind tour of local reception venues ended with a sigh of relief in the beautifully restored dye house of the Mt. Washington Mill, one of a series of old mill complexes along Baltimore’s Jones Falls that have been resurrected into welcoming lofts, restaurants, and event spaces while maintaining a slightly raw, industrial feel. The soaring windows would bathe our guests in the golden light of a late summer sunset, then twinkle after dark, reflecting café lights strung from the rough-hewn rafters. With the help of my family and an incredible team led by Diana of Eventi by Diana Venditto we were able to bring our vision to life.

Our watercolor invitation suite, featuring sage and rose florals by mlc designs, set the casually elegant tone. With my mom’s help, I found an exquisite lace gown (Marisa Bridals, by Betsy Robinson Bridal Collection), lightweight and perfect for dancing. My sister, Andrea, and bridesmaids would wear floor-length mint chiffon gowns from J. Crew in styles of their choosing and carry lace-bound bouquets centered on peach ranunculus, while Mark, our fathers, his brother, John, his groomsmen and ushers wore beautifully tailored grey suits from Allton’s, perfectly accessorized and adorned with cleanly elegant boutonnieres.

We each began the day surrounded by our families and bridal parties, just blocks from one another in the Harbor East neighborhood that is now our home. Our inspiring photographer, Caroline Logan, and the amazingly talented team from ClickSpark Films flawlessly captured those moments, followed by our first-look, along the Baltimore Harbor waterfront where we’ve walked countless miles together. Then we were whisked away to the church where, before an audience of loved ones, long-time friends read scripture and performed a flawless vocal rendition of “In Christ Alone” before we exchanged our vows before the two pastors who have fostered our respective faiths across more than a decade.

As the sky started to turn golden, we made our way to the Mill, where cocktail hour featured the Apple Scruffs, a playful local jazz band known to double as a Beatles-tribute band, and a meticulously chosen array of Baltimore-brewed beers, wines, and craft liquors. Guests circulated past a sweet photo of Mark & I embracing in Paris, engraving their well-wishes into the pewter frame that served as our guest book, before making their way into the breathtaking reception hall, bathed in warm light and graciously set with gold-embossed china around loose, garden style floral centerpieces atop textured, ivory linens. The free-flowing space invited guests to move as they pleased from the dance floor, where Mark and I shared our first dance to the Beatles “In My Life,” to the Pixilated photobooth, to the serving stations where Copper Kitchen caterers served mouthwatering Maryland crab cakes, rockfish, succulent beef tenderloin and delicious house-made cavatelli & ricotta gnocchi. DJ Dan Goldman of Bialek’s Music kept the crowd on their feet most of the evening, spinning a combination of classic hits and modern favorites, and indietronica we couldn’t help but dance to. Despite truck trouble, local sensation Taharka Brothers ice cream came through with a sweet addition to our scrumptious cake by SugarBakers. And in a moment that came all too soon, Mark and I shared one last private dance, then glided through the balmy evening air, between jubilant, cheering columns of family and friends, and into our shared life.

Vibrant Wildflower Wedding on Maryland’s Eastern Shore

Dreaming of an unforgettable riverside celebration? Well, get ready to whoa with wonder dear readers because Kari Rider Events has delivered the ultimate daydream. A wildflower infused celebration at a venue rife with sentiment, and if that’s not enough Krista A. Jones captured every vibrant detail to share. It’s an unforgettable celebration complete with one gallery you’re going to unlock ASAP!

From Kari Rider EventsIt was at the Tred Avon Yacht Club where a young Molly Mulfur first fell in love with the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and it was at that same yacht club some twenty years later where she officially let her heart sail away with Ryan Colahan. Everything about this late-summer Eastern Shore wedding was as natural as the couple saying “I do”—from the vibrant wildflower bouquets to the adorable naked cake to the bride’s delicate, lace-trimmed Sarah Seven gown.

Keeping with the couple’s vision for an intimate, organic-inspired celebration, we let nature do the talking at this waterfront venue rife with memories from the bride’s childhood. Beneath a tent overlooking the Tred Avon River, bright wildflower blooms popped from the statement mahogany farm tables, setting the tone for a rustic meets boho meets Eastern Shore soiree. We dressed the surrounding tables in neutral-hued linens to soften the scene and placed rosemary stems in each napkin fold for a simple finishing touch. Custom poppy seed packets hanging from a burlap-lined display board served as dual escort cards and favors, leading guests to tables named for neighborhoods near the bride and groom’s Philadelphia home.

All of this was perfectly captured by Krista and Davey of Krista A. Jones Photography, who turned out some of the most gorgeous bride and groom portraits we’ve ever seen—including some dreamy shots from an impromptu stop at a most felicitous sunflower field! Does it get any better than that?!

Nautical Summer Wedding in Maryland

Dear Michael and Carina, thank you for sharing this anchor of lovely. It’s the type of wedding day where every element of nautical charm sends us into an ocean of bliss with each sea-inspired detail and cool blue hue. From the post ceremony sail, to the tented reception sprinkled with gilded details, we’re going to be harbor every moment forever in THE VAULT!

From Michael and Carina PhotographyKelly and Gary married on a beautiful summer day at the lovely Maritime Museum by the Chesapeake Bay. The nautical feel of their wedding fit the location perfectly; the light blue details and golden oyster shells completed the elegant setting. Neutral floral arrangements and the groomsmen’s navy suits were selected thoughtfully to match the location and feel of the wedding. The bridal party even took a sailboat out to sea!

Kelly and Gary’s ceremony took place by a lavishly decorated floral arbor, a few feet from the Chesapeake Bay. Everyone celebrated under a sailcloth tent by the water. We couldn’t imagine a more elegant and fun maritime wedding inspiration for brides-to-be.

From the Bride…Gary and I have always felt so lucky to have found each other and to have such wonderful friends and family who support and love us unconditionally. We wanted our wedding to be uniquely our own and for each moment to feel purposeful and meaningful. Above all, we wanted it to be a true celebration of our love for one another. We continued to remind ourselves of this, throughout the planning process, which helped us keep perspective on what really mattered.

When we found the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, in St. Michaels, Maryland, we knew it was the perfect place to say ‘I do’. St. Michaels is a charming coastal town along the Eastern Shore, ideal for many of our out-of-town guests to enjoy a weekend getaway. The museum was effortlessly beautiful and gave us the creative liberty to really be ourselves. Even though having an outdoor wedding was a big risk, we made sure to surround ourselves with a team of wonderful vendors who we trusted to make it amazing. We immediately knew that we wanted to work with film photographers, Michael and Carina, as they always capture flawless photos that tell a beautiful story. Having Sara Reynolds, to coordinate the month-of, lifted so much weight off of our shoulders and really let us enjoy every moment of getting married. She was a huge part of bringing our vision to life.

With the Chesapeake Bay as our backdrop we were inspired to keep our details natural and elegant. Our bridesmaids wore shades of blue to complement the nautical setting. Each girl picked a different dress from two designers. The groomsmen looked handsome in matching French Navy suits topped with light blue linen bowties. We arrived to the ceremony on the HM Krentz, a vintage skipjack docked at the museum. As guests arrived they were greeted with a refreshment served in a keepsake oyster cup from Gary’s grandfathers oyster house. The signature drink was made with local micro, craft rum from Lyon Distilling Co. A strings duo played a handpicked selection of songs before we walked down the aisle to exchange vows we had written to one another. Making our ceremony personal meant so much to us. We knew we would look back on those words, and our commitment to each other, for the rest of our lives.

Our escort cards were DIY, hand-painted oyster shells, and the seating chart was crafted from a nautical map of the Chesapeake Bay. We also filled a dinghy boat full of local brews from Buffalo, New York as homage to my hometown. Locally grown greenery, delicate garlands, and full white blooms beautifully juxtaposed the rustic museum. Dinner was inspired by local produce and included a farmers market ceviche, with a lump crab cake, followed by an entrée of choice.

Organic linen tablecloths, seersucker napkins and draped café lighting gave us a soft and romantic feel. We also setup a small breakout space with tall multi-candle lanterns and Adirondack chairs for guests to relax and enjoy the bay breeze when they wanted a moment away from the dance floor. Our photo booth, complete with custom props, was a total hit! Guests shared their photos in our handmade guestbook (we loved having this to look at the next day, too). As the night came to an end we had one last local surprise – The Scottish Highland Creamery set up their cart near the exit with six delicious flavors of artisan gelato for guests to enjoy. It was the sweetest way we knew how to say ‘thank you’ for sharing the weekend with us.

Gary and I danced the night away surrounded by everyone we love. It was the best day of our lives and a perfect way to begin our happily ever after!

Romantic Outdoor Wedding in Maryland

When a decade long romance says “I Do”, it automatically lands itself in heart-melting territory. Especially when the Bride used her grandmother’s wedding dress to fasten her bouquet and had her grandfather escort her down the aisle (queue sobs). It’s a sweet ceremony from Michael and Carina Photography that you can’t miss! See it all in The Vault!

From Michael and Carina PhotographyThis wedding is like a fairy tale come to life. This couple is unreal and their wedding day was nothing short of amazing. Their heartfelt outdoor ceremony under willow trees was followed by a tented celebration with the most elegantly decorated farm tables. The soft blush and cream tones were a perfect fit for the romantic feel of their day.

As the sun was setting over the gorgeous lush property on the Wye River, the bride surprised everyone with a spectacular second wedding dress and a flower crown. She ran through the gardens of the venue to catch the last moments of sunshine of the day with her new husband. When the bride is as free-spirited and starts spinning in a secret garden at sunset, you know this has to be one in a million. So much joy, so much love. Brenna and Dave have been lovers and soulmates for almost a decade; these two deserve such a glorious wedding day!

Thank you for making their dream come true by sharing this celebration for inspiration!

From The Bride…Dave and I dated for ten years before getting married, and we wanted our wedding to honor our decade-long journey, as well as celebrate our future. It was important to us that every detail have significance and meaning (i.e. lace from my grandmother’s wedding dress used to secure my bouquet; processional musical selections, chosen to celebrate loved ones who couldn’t be there, among other things) even if we were the only ones who knew it. Our goal was for everyone at our wedding to sense the love we have for them and for each other. We wanted it to feel like us, but in a way that honored our family and friends and their unending support.

When we visited Wye River, we knew immediately that we would get married there. The historical estate was so representative of Dave’s classic, grounded style, while the gardens and potential for an outdoor tent, candlelit reception were all me and the romantic vibe I wanted to set. We loved that the wedding would not feel overwhelmingly like either one of us individually, but that it would encompass our couple style. We were sold when we learned that accommodations would allow our guests to stay all weekend; we wanted it to feel like a getaway and an exceptional event for everyone, not exclusively us. It just so happened that we lucked out by having a fabulous on-site coordinator, Kathie, with an incredibly attentive staff, who took care of everything and everyone!

Humbled by the grace that sustained our relationship over the years, we were inspired by the beauty of marriage and nature. We wanted to literally “marry,” if you will, the traditionally feminine and masculine. The setting really did not need much added, as the abundant foliage and stone buildings gave us plenty to work with. We chose lush, ladylike blooms to compliment dark, rich greenery. We loved the idea of delicate lace runners and overlays with soft cream tablecloths anchored by heavy, dark wood farm tables and bold metallic candle holders and vases. Regarding colors, we didn’t want anything overwhelmingly gender specific, so we opted for neutrals. We also didn’t want to detract from, but rather enhance the venue, so an understated color palette seemed like a no-brainer. I wanted each of the bridesmaids to feel like absolute rockstars, so I asked that they choose neutral gowns, and they created a stunning ensemble that was exactly what I’d hoped for. I selected specific jewelry and hairstyles for each girl, but my dear friend/makeup artist, Natallia, ensured that the makeup was cohesive: glowy, dewy, and natural.

The day of the wedding was perfection. My cousin, Emily, and her business partner, Jean (Boutique Events) ensured that every single detail was executed flawlessly. We didn’t have to worry about anything besides feeling all of the feelings, and just enjoying each blissful second. Our wonderful photographers and videographer captured so many moments that we have relived again and again; including when we first we saw each other, my grandfather walking me down the aisle (queue sobs), and the insane dance party that ensued after dinner, care of Jacob, our DJ (and yes, I did change gowns for the party – towing 50 pounds of beading and fabric all night was just too much! So worth it for the reception, though). We partied all night long, and into the wee hours of the morning. It could not have been a more perfect way to begin this new phase of our lives together. We were beyond fortunate to have met the BEST vendors in the business, and be supported by loving family and friends in the process. They are truly who made the day as beautiful as it was for us. We feel so fortunate that we have such an incredible day to reflect on, as we take on this new endeavor that is marriage!

From Alicia Jayne Florals… We all know how big the “Farm to Table” movement has become and how important it is know where our food is coming from. Well, we wanted to be right in the middle of the action and literally brought the table to the farm for this inspiration rehearsal dinner shoot. Our idea was to show couples a casual and fun option for their rehearsal dinner. If the ceremony and wedding are a more formal event then why not do something casual with a farm to table dinner ON the farm!

We changed things up by using a serpentine style table with a lyme check print tablecloth courtesy of La Tavola Linens. The guests dined on all locally sourced foods served family style with pie tins for their plates. Dessert featured mini servings of cobbler in individual size cast iron skillets. Guests also received a stack of recipe cards for each of the menu items. Menus were printed on flour sack towels. After dinner guests pulled up a hay bale and watched family videos of the bride and groom and enjoyed a popcorn snack.

The floral designs and table decor featured seasonal flowers and local produce. We kept the table design casual using wooden bread bowls as vessels for the flowers and wooden pillar candle holders. The stationery was full of watercolor fruits and vegetables complementing the foods being used in the various recipes throughout the meal. Our table was situated in between two chicken coops which was perfect for stringing cafe lights above the dining area. Our family of models were real troopers allowing the farm animals to wander freely throughout the dinner. Chickens, guinea fowl and ducks roamed the grounds making the experience even more authentic.

Elegant + Romantic Editorial Shoot at Strong Mansion

If there was ever a question about the right way to start a Tuesday, it’s been decided: a gorgeous wedding inspiration photo shoot like this one from Elizabeth Fogarty. Complete with lush florals in soft hues, dusty blue accents and a classic beauty look courtesy of Amie Decker Beauty and Jewel Hair Design, it doesn’t get much prettier than this. Fall in love with every detail in The Vault.

From Elizabeth FogartyThis shoot was inspired by the classic elegance of Strong Mansion. We went for a color palette of ivory, dusty blue and blush pink, showcased throughout the different elements of the shoot. The ceremony was setup in the garden stone steps, adorned by dozens of lit candlesticks romancing the atmosphere and entertained by the melodic and airy sounds of a harp.

Garden and spray roses, peonies, proteas, anemone, pink astilbe and hydrangeas were all combined in beautiful floral compositions, perfect for the soft yet refined look. The table embraced vintage elements, especially French-inspired, as evidenced in the blue velvet chairs, the lace runner and placemats, and the ornate china. Embroidered napkins with the guests’ names would serve not only as place cards, but also as a keepsake for the guests. These vintage inspiration also came through in the cake, and the rest of the furniture.

Our Bride’s modest look was composed by the gorgeous Uma gown by Rosa Clara, a clean, yet elaborated, high bun and make up with a bit of a dramatic eye and simple lips. The blue Manolo Blahnik were a perfect pop of color and touch of elegance for this sophisticated bride. For the perfect exit, our bride and groom departed in a vintage Rolls Royce beautifully adorned by a floral wreath.

Vintage Inspired Annapolis Wedding

When a beautiful planner bride (hello, 2Hands Studios) marries her childhood sweetheart, magical things happen.  Magical things like lush, romantic blooms crafted by Cache Fleur, a breathtaking reception filled with golden glitter and some seriously sweet moments captured by Natalie Franke.  See them all in the full gallery, then stay awhile in The Vault for even more vintage inspired pretty.

From Natalie Franke… Adriana and Kevin have been together since childhood. Their love story so beautifully intertwined that both of their families celebrated this day with joyful tears and beaming smiles. I absolutely loved the moment when Adriana put on her dress, the bridal party portraits at the State House, and seeing her wedding day vision come to life. The incredible team at 2hands studios, where Adriana is an extraordinary planner, came together to make this wedding one of the best I’ve ever experienced!

From the Bride… The theme to our wedding is an elegant garden feel. Soft, romantic, timeless, with pops of our personality and family. Sea foam is the color we selected, because it is relaxing and reminds us of the water. Kevin proposed on a dock!

I wanted something a little fun but not too extreme. We incorporated little touches of family with photos of each married sibling, parent and grandparent on the patio, Kevin’s grandmothers broach on my bouquet, my grandmothers jewelry, and some of our families favorite foods. My bouquet is also wrapped in my mothers veil.

Intimate Ceremony at Quiet Waters Park

Intimate weddings have always, and will always, be my absolute favorite affairs. Where love is the detail that shines through every moment, and the couple is the prettiest detail of all. So this wedding captured by Hillary of Lauren Fair Photography truly is my dream. Her photographs will forever a capture a day this family will cherish forever, and when you read the Bride’s description below, you’ll realize just how special they really are. Add in those stunning florals from Alicia Jayne Florals, and this wedding completely has my heart. See why here.

From The Bride…Brent and I first met in 2007 at a concert with some mutual friends. I always remembered thinking how cool and fun he was. Shortly after, I went off to school in South Carolina and he moved to Baltimore. We always stayed in touch throughout the years though — wishing each other happy birthdays and sending texts and messages here and there. During this time, Brent became closer with my circle of friends and apparently always asked about “your friend Kim” to my best friends.. I thought this was cute. Once I graduated and moved back home, I went to Baltimore to celebrate his 29th birthday, and as they say, the rest is history.

Brent proposed in January of 2014. He made me the most perfect breakfast where we shared a fancy bottle of champagne for mimosas. At this point, I didn’t think anything of it, until I noticed my plate was clean and he didn’t even touch his food. As soon as I asked “why aren’t you eating” he got down on one knee and proposed. It was the sweetest moment of my life, even though I wish I could remember what he all said.. I think some can all relate to this.

We began to plan our August 2015 wedding. As Brent can attest, there were moments of complete stress (only on my part though). Searching for a venue was the worst, but after several weeks, we found the perfect location. Vendors were locked-in and all our details started to fall into place.

A few months before our big day, my family received news that my father, who had been battling cancer close to three years, only had a few months left to live. Brent and I struggled with this. We weren’t sure what the right thing to do was. Eventually, we decided to postpone our August 2015 wedding and move it to August 2016.

As we sat in the hospital, I told my dad the news. I was so afraid that postponing our August wedding would upset him but it was completely the opposite. He was so understanding and comforting. He had a smile on his face; he was amazing. That same week, Brent and I made plans to have a small, intimate wedding ceremony at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis Maryland. We absolutely love this park — we take our great dane pup there on a weekly basis. Plus, I’ve always imagine having engagement pictures done here so to have our wedding photos taken in the beautifully sunlit woods was something special.

On June 12th, my dad walked me down the aisle and gave me away to Brent. It was something I cannot describe — I was overjoyed. We were surrounded by our closest family and friends. They were all here for Brent and I, as they all watch my father give his only daughter away.. I was overwhelmed with so many emotions.

Just two weeks later, my father passed away. I cannot put into words what this day meant for us and my family but we are beyond grateful to have these memories and photographs, and to look back on and cherish them for the rest of our lives.

Romantic + Traditional Maryland Wedding

This is what happens when romance, tradition and whimsy meet up at a picturesque seaside setting: a whole lot of awesomeness.  Think stunning blooms from Flowers by Alison, beautiful details styled by Both Coasts Style (the MOB and SOB!) and a bride who really knows how to rock a Monique Lhuillier. See it all captured by Alyssa Maloof right here, then head to The Vault for even more seaside lovely.

From the Bride… My sister’s wedding set an ideal for how I wanted my own wedding to look and feel. Little did I know, my future husband was also in attendance, with that very same thought.

Almost four years later exactly, Sean and I exchanged vows in the same small church where my sister and parents were married. Much of our wedding was drawn from the occasion where we met, though we insisted on personalizing our day. My mom and sister of Both Coasts Style fulfilled the request perfectly, managing to still incorporate the same trappings of life, love, and family.

Boats ferried our guests across the bay of my hometown to a waterfront reception. Everyone was greeted with custom cocktails in vintage coke bottles, bottled by my brothers. My mom and sister gathered the perfect decor to complement the bay side venue: old bait and tackle shop signs, a fire pit surrounded by antique Adirondacks, and vintage couches set up in vignettes across the property. They thought of every detail — even making oyster shell garland to hang on the seafood shack, where we served oysters and clams.

We added our own flair by hiring a local celebrity and Rod Stewart impersonator, Sir Rod Stewart. He confused a few wedding guests, until he ignited the dance floor alongside fireworks, singing Maggie Mae. I have never seen smiles and laughter brought about so instantaneously.

Every inch of our wedding felt personal and represented so much of who we are as a couple. Everything from the food, to the flowers, to the service was contributed by our closest family and friends. This is undoubtedly why everyone felt a little bit of magic on our wedding day.

Elegant Naval Academy Wedding in Annapolis

I have such a soft spot in my heart for military weddings, and it goes far beyond the handsome uniforms and traditions. What really gets me is the couple. You can tell they have already been through so much, and they wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else in the world. How could you not love that? And when such a wedding plays out through Joy Michelle Photography‘s images, I couldn’t be happier.

From Joy Michelle PhotographyStephanie and Daniel tied the knot at the USNA Chapel on a sunny day in June and held their reception at the Alumni Hall (in the Bo Coppedge Room) offering sweeping views of College Creek and the Severn River.

They incorporated nautical elements into their decor including stripes, rope knots for their centerpieces and beautifully done calligraphy seating charts/tags. There were so many beautiful little signs, details, and decor elements throughout the whole wedding but one that stood out to me was the memory display to their friends who could not attend and were deployed overseas. They marked each name with a beer.

Can we just pause and take a moment to appreciate Stephanie’s all blush peony bouquet wrapped in blue and navy stripes?! Talk about romantic elegance!

Something old: Lace from bride’s grandmothers wedding gown wrapped around the bride’s bouquet.
Something new: South sea golden pearl earrings. A gift from the groom on his first deployment.
Something borrowed: Anchor pin. borrowed from Mrs. Lauren Cline (pinned to the bouquet).
Something blue: Bride’s shoes. A gift from the groom. (Designed by Badgley Mischka).

I’m a hybrid wedding photographer and this wedding was photographed with a mix of film and digital photography.

Romantic Downtown Annapolis Engagement Session

Having first met in downtown Annapolis, this couple couldn’t think of a more perfect place to have their engagement session! What could be more romantic than sneaking in kisses on a park bench and eating ice cream by the harbor, all under the spell of the city’s historic charm? Alysia & Jayson Photography captured it all in the full gallery right here!

From Alysia & Jayson PhotographyIt did not take us any time to figure out that Taylor and Jared were an incredibly authentic and dynamic duo. They have a most genuine love for one another and amazing chemistry that could not be hidden from our cameras. It was an absolute joy to photograph and get to know them.

Their love story began in the beautiful and quaint historic downtown Annapolis, and so there was no hesitation or question as to where we’d photograph their engagement session. We spent a beautiful evening roaming these charming streets, talking and sharing stories. We are so honored to be photographing their Naval Academy wedding next June.

From the beautiful Bride-To-Be… Jared and I met in the heart of downtown Annapolis at McGarvey’s Saloon & Oyster Bar. My sister and I stopped in for a quick drink. Jared had built the courage to approach me and nervously asked me for my phone number after some small talk! After many wonderful dates and 7 blissful months of dating, Jared proposed to me on a wintery December night in Chicago. Jared recently graduated from the Naval Academy and I call Annapolis home so we couldn’t think of a more perfect place to be married! We chose the Naval Academy’s Alumni House to have the reception. The ceremony and reception will encompass the historic heart and romanticism we fell in love with.

Rustic Glam Summer Wedding at Evergreen Museum + Library

I’m declaring green and gold my favorite color combo and it’s all due to this wedding right here. Michael and Carina Photography captured one romantic image after another at this summer celebration, where the cute couple, who we met back at their adorable engagement shoot, only had eyes for each other. Thanks to these pretty pics I’m in a fantastic mood this Friday morning – see more right this way!

From Michael and Carina PhotographyThis wedding is just so gorgeous, we had to share it with you! Unfettered greenery bouquets, glittery dresses, a beautifully decorated reception hall and gold accents everywhere. Lauren and Nate really poured themselves into their big day!

Lauren, the bride, is in love with Style Me Pretty; she shared her engagement session with SMP readers. She is so excited about photography and style, it was just a joy!

Gold, navy and green are a match made in wedding-heaven! And this gorgeous bride and groom (as well as the bridal party) absolutely rocked these colors! This wedding was modern, but classic. Fun, but elegant.

Lauren and Nate married at the beautiful Evergreen Museum in Maryland in the garden behind the museum. The stunning museum was the perfect backdrop! They have been inseparable for years and finally said “I do” in front of all their friends and family in the summer heat. We photographed their portraits in an area that reminds of a classic Italian villa. Beautiful architecture and cyan greenery.

Everyone celebrated in a beautifully decorated tent, with white fabric hanging from the ceiling and candles spread out on the farm tables. The beginning of their marriage couldn’t have been any more perfect!

From the Bride… Our love story began in grad school, where we met, and then promptly engaged in a discussion about marriage equality, which came full circle when, two weeks after we got married, everyone in the US received the right to legally marry! That discussion was the springboard for three years of long distance dating and commutes across state lines to spend time with one another while we pursued our degrees and careers. Two years ago, we moved to Baltimore together, we moved into a perfect row-house in our favorite neighborhood. It’s where Nate proposed in a perfect, private moment with just our pup, Lady, looking on.

It turns out that Nate had been planning the engagement for almost a year. He designed my ring himself, working with my mom and a jeweler to bring a picture I had saved a long time ago to life. To add even more romance, the stone in my ring is the stone my dad gave my mom on their engagement. My engagement ring could not be more fraught with meaning, or more special to me.

We got married exactly one year later, and what we knew from the very beginning was that we wanted our wedding to be very personal. We had a lot of DIY elements, like the gold foil invitations, programs and signs that I designed, the hand-painted corn hole set my dad made for us, hand-stamped favors, and decorations we’d collected throughout the year. We also knew we wanted our family and friends to experience Baltimore the way we do. We held our rehearsal dinner at Heavy Seas Alehouse, one of our favorite places in Baltimore, made sure everyone got to taste local beers and Maryland crabs at our cocktail hour, and guests received Berger cookies stamped with a thank you message as a true Baltimore takeaway. Our ceremony was also deeply personal and intimate.

In addition to having our wedding day reflect the things we love, we knew we wanted to frame the personal touches in a natural, simple and romantic setting. For us, the Evergreen Museum and Library was the perfect venue for this. It is a beautifully landscaped and intimate location. To capture the natural and personal feeling in the carriage house where we ate dinner, we used the most beautiful handmade farm tables from the sweetest couple who started Barnes Handmade Tables in York, PA. Their tables are gorgeous, so we decided on classic and simple center pieces of lemon leaf garlands, seeded eucalyptus and a few calla lilies. One of the sweetest wedding gifts we received was from Nate’s stepmother and father, who bought us one of the farm tables as our dining room table.

One detail I knew from the beginning I wanted was for my bridesmaids to wear gold. I wanted them to feel lovely and special, and I wanted their dresses to add a little glitz and glamour to our otherwise neutral and simple palette. I asked them to pick out a gold or champagne dress that made them feel beautiful. They all chose different metallic gold dresses, and they looked absolutely stunning. The guys wore blue suits, with ivory ties, and orange socks – an homage to the Orioles. For my dress, I knew that I wanted something romantic and simple, and I found a beautiful lace Stella York dress which the very talented Luda at Dalinda’s customized with a beautiful sweetheart neckline. I added a champagne sash with crystal detail to add a little sparkle and I wore a pearl pendant that my grandmother wore on her wedding day, in my hair, and sewed a piece of my mom’s beautiful wedding dress into my own, over my heart. The glitzy and romantic attire was balanced by the lovely organic bouquets and boutonnieres which our florist Maryland Bay Blossoms arranged. They were beautifully made, and very simple and non-traditional – just whisps of rosemary, eucalyptus and lavender, and a few peonies for my bouquet.

My favorite part of our wedding day was the ceremony. Even though it was very very very hot, I couldn’t have had a better time. I felt so present, and I couldn’t take my eyes off Nate; I felt so connected.

I thought I would be so nervous walking down the aisle, but my dad made me laugh and smile the whole time. And then when he shook Nate’s hand, he said “Nate, do you see the smile on my daughter’s face? Please make sure she never stops smiling.” It was such a sweet moment.

The whole ceremony was very personal and special to us. We asked our mutual friend whom we both met in grad school, right before we started dating to officiate! Two of our good friends, recently married, read a few beautiful words about love and growing together. My godmother asked our guests to warm our rings, and it felt really special to have all of the people who have been a part of our individual stories, become a part of our story together.

Our recessional song was “Sexual Healing” performed by the Hot 8 Brass Band, which is a funky New Orlean’s parade-style version of the song. We love it, and as we walked down the aisle it made us laugh and smile, watching everyone sing along before they realized what they were singing!

Right after cocktail hour, we danced our first dance to “The Book of Love” by the Magnetic Zeroes. We had danced to this song one night on vacation several months earlier, when it was just the two of us on a covered porch listening to our iPod. We decided then that it was just the right balance of cheeky and romantic for us. After our first dance, our wedding party and parents joined us for a dance to “Luckiest” by Ben Folds. We didn’t have a traditional intro, and this ended up being the perfect way for us to have a special moment for our wedding party and parents with all of our guests looking on.

During dinner, my mom and dad welcomed everyone, and my brothers and Nate’s friends gave toasts. They were funny, and touching, and we laughed and cried and then we ate, and danced, and chatted with friends.

We didn’t want to go the traditional desert route, so we purchased three delicious almond amaretto cakes from a local bakery, and my dad, who is an amazing cook, made traditional Italian biscotti.

We danced and danced and danced after dessert, and I couldn’t have had a more fun evening. Everything about our wedding was so personal and thoughtful and perfect. I loved every minute of it.

Elegant Historic Clynmalira Estate Wedding

To say we’re obsessed with this Bride’s ruffled collar wedding gown is an understatement. It’s perfect for this elegant wedding at a historic estate owned by the Groom’s parents, while pops of yellow through a billy button bouquet and shoes bring a bright and cheery feel to the festivities captured by Mary Neumann Photography. See it all in the full gallery right here!

The day oozed class, from the ruffled collar on her stunning gown, to the navy suits on the Groom and his Men, and even a vintage Rolls Royce – the details were flawless. Add with the Historic Clynmalira Estate (owned by the Groom’s parents!) as a backdrop, this wedding was beyond gorgeous.

From the Bride… Brian and I met during my second year of college at the University of Georgia. His sister, Emily, and I became friends while living in the same dorm our freshman year and the following year Brian and his parents came down to Athens to visit. After a group dinner where Brian and I met and discovered our mutual love for food, I knew he was special. We spent the next two years in a long distance relationship flying back and forth between Maryland and Georgia. One of our favorite things to do when I would visit him was to go to Annapolis. We would spend hours walking around and sitting on the benches down at city dock and eventually that became the exact place where Brian got down on one knee and proposed over five years later! Between our love for Annapolis and the fact that Brian grew up across the Bay Bridge on the Eastern Shore, where we spent countless weekends, we knew we wanted to get married somewhere near the water. We chose to get married at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club after falling in love with the gorgeous views! There aren’t enough words to describe how incredible our wedding day was and how much it meant to us to have our family and closest friends there to celebrate with us. From the delicious seafood to the Dolle’s caramel popcorn, Smith Island Cakes and country music, our wedding truly captured Brian and I as a couple. One of the most special things for me was that I got to wear the same beaded belt around my dress that my two best friends wore during each of their weddings. All of our vendors went above and beyond to make our day so special and we can’t thank them enough! I honestly don’t think I’ve ever smiled, giggled, or felt as much pure joy and happiness as much as I did throughout the day!
