A Blush Dream of a Wedding at the Alila Uluwatu Bali
Bali is surely one of the "it" places right now to vacation or tie the knot and I'm not mad about it. Cue all the tropical vibes for this beautiful destination wedding for Aussie couple Tyla and Tristan with lively photos by Axioo Bali and romantic details everywhere by Varawedding! Inspired with the incredibly luxurious venue, the Alila Villas Uluwatu, these two celebrated the night away under twinkle lights and dined at lovely blush tables. Oh, and just wait until you hear about their sweet 7 year old son's impromptu speech! SO sweet!
Tyla's look was the perfect mix of tropical beauty and classic bride. LOVED her low-back gown and her effortless hairstyle! Great beach look...
Their sweet family photo is EVERYTHING. Now this is what a wedding is all about - the start of a new family.
From the bride...
How did you two meet? We met through mutual friends. Tristan had started up a marketing company and I was one of his first employees as a graphic designer. However it wasn’t until 5 years later when we bumped into each other at a popular bar in Sydney; and that’s where we had our first kiss. Funny enough after a few more drinks Tristan jokingly proposed to me on the dance floor and I faintly remember one of our friends pretending to be a priest and marrying us that night.
What was the funniest moment of the wedding? When our 7 year old son introduced us onto the dance floor and at the end of his speech he shared an embarrassing moment about me coming home in a wheelchair (This happened on the night of my hens a few days before our wedding) It was unexpected and very cheeky of him but it made everyone laugh, even me!
What was your favorite moment of the wedding? I have so many favourite moments but one that stands out would be walking down the aisle with my mum and seeing my daydream and a years worth of planning come to life. Our ceremony was beautifully set up in the breathtaking Alila clifftop cabana which made it all the more surreal. I remember that moment walking in and seeing Tristan standing there, his face was all flushed with slight tears and that made me very emotional as I’ve never seen him like that before. Even though we had kids before marriage, being able to share our vows in front of our 3 children just made the whole experience even more special and memorable.
Please tell us the story of the proposal... Tristan took me on a surprise trip to the Maldives. I didn’t know where we were going until we got to the airport. On the day we arrived he had organized a candle lit dinner on a nearby private island with our own chef and waiters. When it was time for dessert, the staff presented a dome covered in flowers saying that this was a very special Maldivian dessert. When I opened it up there was another flower dome. That was when my heart stopped and I knew he was about to propose to me. I opened it up and there was the ring! Tristan then got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I remember crying because I wasn’t dressed as nicely as I always imagined I would be while getting proposed to. I totally didn’t expect that Tristan could organize this without me knowing (he totally aced it). At exactly 11pm that night, it poured down rain and just like in the movies we ran for cover. We were totally drenched when we got back to our room but it was one of the best memories we’ve shared together!
What inspired your wedding theme? I always knew my bridesmaid dresses would be a combination of blush, pink and gold colours so I based our wedding theme around that. I decided that I wanted our decor to be elegant but also simple as our wedding venue was already so beautiful on its own. After looking at a lot of Instagram and Pinterest pics I was really inspired by the soft look and feel of pampas plants so I told our decorator that I wanted lots and lots of pampas and they totally delivered.
How did you know about Varawedding? During my initial research on Bali weddings, feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to start I decided to just pick up the phone and speak to a wedding planner. Varawedding stood out to me while searching wedding planners in Bali and I was very lucky to have had Sasha Barbara pick up the phone that day and after speaking with her, she helped me with quotations and she also organized the venue viewings for us. We then met in person in Bali during the venue viewings and after that Sasha pretty much guided us through it all from start to finish. Sasha and her team at Varawedding went above and beyond for us and I will be forever grateful!
