Sweet Summer Garden Wedding

Why do I love these two? Because they love love loved their wedding, it’s obvious in every single pic by Nina & Wes Photography and throughout Bryan Starr Cinematography’s film. From the first look, when the Groom spontaneously twirled his beautiful Bride to this genuine JOY taking over as they walked down the aisle as newlyweds; these special images are what makes me smile all day long. Get in on all this goodness in our VAULT right this way!

From Nina & Wes Photography… Maddie and Austin got married at a beautiful park in Lexington, KY. There were so many unique and beautiful moments throughout their day. From the first look where Austin twirled his bride around in a moment of joy and fun… to Maddie’s first look with her father, where they both cried and embraced tightly… to the prayer before the ceremony where all of Maddie’s bridesmaids and family surrounded her… to the painting their friend created as the ceremony unfolded… and the music that guests were asked to join in during the ceremony… and every single look of joy throughout each moment of their wedding day was something beautiful to behold. The love Maddie and Austin have for one another is tangible and pure. We are so thankful we got to capture such an emotional and heartfelt day.

From the Bride… “I’ll never forget shortly after Austin and I decided to hold our ceremony outside at Waveland State Historic Site, we took a sunset stroll on the property—just dreaming together about our wedding day. About ten minutes into the walk, the grounds keeper approached us and asked if we were getting married here. His assumption of our romantic behavior was correct. Our conversation began so naturally as he humbly shared about the joys of marriage. The way he talked about his wife and his selfless, simple love for herafter 45 years brought euphoria to our souls. It was a moving moment, sharing a glimpse of our future together in an unanticipated exchange. He talked about how the grounds were a peaceful place—and they were indeed.

Austin and I reflected on that moment several times leading up to our wedding day. We couldn’t have been more satisfied sharing those special vows on Waveland’s overgrown, lush property. The woodland trails and rolling hills made our city-limits ceremony venue appear as the green, natural “heaven on earth” that we most wanted.
For us, it was all about sentiment. Many of our wedding decisions were made with sentimental attachments. From the reception venue to the tiniest details, the plans were made with more meaning than most of the guests would’ve ever known. But we liked it that way. We envisioned the experience for our friends and family by making every decision to create an atmosphere of love and joy. As people would be reunited with family and friends, we asked questions like how we could plan a seating chart or flow of events that would cause people to savor conversations, to laugh together, and enjoy celebrating the seasons of life. As everything culminated on August 14th, it was a true joy to look around and delight in all that it came to be. Unlike I’ve heard from so many other brides, Austin and I were able to enjoy our wedding day being fully present! It’s one of my favorite miracles about the day. Even if we had an unlimited budget to throw the most extravagant of celebrations, we couldn’t have imagined it any better. It was gloriously blessed and more than we could’ve dreamed. We are so thankful.

Elegant Cultural Southern Wedding

Two bourbon tasting bars, several couture sari’s, and plenty of pops of color, this GlenLary Estate horsefarm affair from One Fine Day is literally overflowing with beauty. Add in a completely in love (and completely gorgeous) couple, two cultural ceremonies (one Hindu and one Christian) and gorgeous photography by Amy Campbell, and we officially have gallery worth celebrating, right here!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/111057627 600 338]

From the beautiful Bride… Ajay and I met in the summer after I finished residency but before I started my fellowship in oncology. At that time he worked for the Boston Bruins and I was working in a lab doing cancer research; our lives in fact couldn’t have been more different! But from the moment I met him, I knew the line of my life had changed forever. Within a few months we were in love, and just after 2 years he proposed to me at Pier’s Point, a beautiful park overlooking the Boston Harbor.

Ajay was born in Boston and is a Boston boy through and through, but his family is originally from Rajasthan in India. It was important to us that we really highlighted that. And though I’ve lived in Boston for the past 8 years, I am from rural Kentucky and bourbon, basketball, horses and bluegrass are in my blood. From early on, it was obvious that to really do things right we would need to do two ceremonies: one Hindu and one Christian.

Nothing beats down south for beautiful, relaxed venues. Initially we flirted with the idea of getting married in Boston, but in my heart I knew I wanted to go home. I secured one of the most gorgeous places in the state; a working horsefarm and restored mansion out in Bourbon County, Kentucky. After that, everything fell into place for our wedding, which stretched out over two days.

The theme of our weekend was family, friends and fun. I didn’t want anything to be stuffy…it’s the south after all! I was blessed to have an amazing wedding planner (single most important thing I did) who was a true partner in creating the event design and ambiance. For the interfaith/intercultural couples out there, we did both our ceremonies in 1 day like so: Hindu ceremony, cocktail hour, Christian ceremony, Cocktail hour, reception.

My lehenga and the bridesmaids sari’s were couture and complete works of art. They were hand made for us, comprised of silk and chiffon and hand dyed in a beautiful ombre. These were a surprise from Ajay’s aunt, who is a designer and artist in Bombay. The jewelry for the Indian ceremony were heirlooms from Ajay’s family. Several generations of Rajput brides have worn those gold pieces encrusted with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, and I felt so honored to be a part of the tradition.

The beautiful birch Mandap was hand made by my father, built to his exact engineering specifications, and my mother sewed the raspberry silk canopy. In between ceremonies my florist quickly took down the canopy and cut down the pink and red flowers, leaving only the beautiful greenery and white flowers for the Christian ceremony. I brought a string quartet in from a neighboring state and had them play “Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones for my walk down the aisle. My Christian dress was Carol Hannah from Project Runway, and was made from blush tulle and linen. My childhood minister came in from Texas and married us with traditional vows, but we also said our own. Ajay’s were amazing….its tough to work in a Michael Jordan reference into your vows! I brought in a traditional Kentucky bluegrass band to play the second cocktail hour, which was replete with not one but two bourbon tasting bars. For dinner we did a southern menu, and for dessert we did cupcakes, ice cream from a local favorite, and pecan pie. By the end of the reception it was pouring rain but no one cared…it was a dance party!

My advice to any brides is to hire the people that you get good vibes from, even if you feel like maybe they are a bit more expensive or conversely they are relatively young. I went by that rule and I had an AMAZING team of professionals who made our day so beautiful; people still are talking about how much fun they had!

Elegant Kentucky Farm Wedding

After spending countless hours looking for the perfect wedding venue, I quickly realized that sometimes it’s right in your backyard! This particular farm wedding took place on the private family farm, where countless other family member weddings have been held. Now if that’s not special, I don’t know what is! Melanie Mauer captured every moment from the big reveal to the elegant details found in the tented reception. You can see all the gorgeous detailing here!

From Melanie Mauer…. This gorgeous wedding took place on the family’s private estate in Lexington, Kentucky. With beautiful stone walls, iconic Kentucky rolling hills and horse farms it provided the perfect backdrop for the day (not to mention plenty of places for kiddos to explore). The couple got ready, were married and had their reception on the family estate, which was also the location for other family weddings making it that much more memorable. The bride had a vision for the ceremony (“dark wood floors, chiavari chairs, chandeliers and large vases with flowers”) and because she was unable to attain it in town, she created it right on the property so everything could take place there. Their personalities were a part of everything from the sweet tea and macaroon favors to the location of the tent under the stars. Every detail was an expression of what they love and the memories they wanted to make that day. The bride Jessica wanted these moments to be the most special of their lives and worked so hard pinning, clipping and planning to make sure the details of the day matched how they felt about each other.

Romantic, Vintage Inspired Rehearsal Dinner

We love photo shoots of all shapes and sizes, but rehearsal dinner inspiration from the lens of Chris Cornwell? Well, that’s something worth celebrating. Decked out in vintage glamour this garden soiree has no shortage of pretty-filled moments and Doug Smith Designs and Events was behind every last bit. Treat yourself to eye candy a’plenty in the gallery right here.

From Chris Cornwell Photographer… Jeanie and Daniel were amongst their closest family and friends one cool summer day in August… who came from afar to celebrate their union Kentucky Style. Horses, bourbon and touch of romantic, vintage glamour they were all decked out in the fanciest dresses, fascinators, and bow ties : )

Their wedding weekend began at the Woodford Reserve, a setting truly ‘horse country’ and bourbon making. They chose the site as a treat to their distinguished guests to tour and enjoy. They wanted an outdoor garden feel for their dinner gathering but also knew what Kentucky weather was like. Unpredictable. So, a clear tent was the perfect idea for their ‘garden’ vision. Emma, the groom’s mother had big dreams of a vintage themed event with lace, pearls, cream and blush. Old books, antique tea roses and cut glass vases came to mind as she researched for hours online. Yes, pinterest was largely to blame. For months Emma kept a folder with dreams, ideas and to do lists. She made ‘DIY’ framed pictures of the lovely couple to bring touch of personal to the tablescape. Multiple pillar and tea candles added to the warmth and romance of the event. Other ‘soft’ elements were nude table linens, sashes and ivory lace. Everything hard and harsh at the Dryer House was covered and draped. Bolts of cream and blush stretch fabric were used to make garlands.. carefully draping the black iron rails. No detail was overlooked. All these came together with the help (and magic hands) of Doug Smith and Glenn Blind of Doug Smith Designs and Events. Perfectly placed florals, bows and settings, everything came together more perfectly than Emma had imagined. Her dream of a warm and inviting but ‘from years gone by’ event came true. An appetizer to a spectacular wedding weekend.

Keeping with the southern charm of Kentucky, the guest tables were named after famous bourbons, instead of traditional table numbers.

Jeanie sparkled in her “Parker” beaded and feathered dress, perfect for dancing the night away. Here with her is Rachel, her Maid of Honor sparkled in a Sue Wong masterpiece. Oh how I love these fabulous dresses!! Sue Wong’s designs exudes sensuous Hollywood glamour and the mystery and romance of Paris. They’re made of soft silk… hand-beaded and embroidered with art deco lines and swirls. Jeanie and Rachel chose a classic silhouette with a flirtatious hemline.

Kentucky English Garden Wedding

Doubling up on “I Do’s”? Yes, please! This fete at The Ashley Inn was just one of two weddings this trans-atlantic couple planned. Chris Cornwell was on the Kentucky guest list and snapped a day filled with  Small’s Greenhouse blooms, two gorgeous La Petite Sucre cakes, and a Stephanie Allin Bride concealing a very lovely garter from The Wedding Garter Company. More right here

Chris Cornwell Photography…. They met across the pond, finding each other in the most unexpected place – a rowing club. They rowed, flirted, played, traveled, and finally Kenny asked the MOST important 4 words. Jane could not refuse, she smiled and whispered her answer.

They married across the Atlantic ocean in February, and again in Kentucky. No detail was spared! Jane got to plan two weddings and the second time around she dreamed of a romantic feat with Kentucky (horse country) accents. With a new dress by couture bridal designer Stephanie Allin, she glowed and wowed her US family (and her groom!) and friends. Soft shades of lavender, blush and pale blue were accents throughout her day. From the pretty lavender ‘grecian-like’ bridesmaid’s gowns to the whimsical, mix matched table settings at her reception at Ashley Inn Bed and Breakfast. Pretties aside, the day started off unusually wet and mild for a summer Kentucky wedding. She must have brought London with her, because it rained all day prior and on the wedding day! Luckily with a little prayer, the skies cleared for some glorious sunshine during the outdoor ceremony AND pictures!! Indeed a prosperous day!

At Ashley Inn, we chose the TARA room for Jane’s getting ready. It’s soft blues and posh details complimented everything Jane had in mind for her romantic day. The light was insanely beautiful and I could not have dreamed of a more perfect room to feel and look pretty in.

Jane and Kenny chose unique handmade wedding rings by Ruth Tomlinson. I adore the delicate necklaces the girls wore. Soft pearl and leaf design by Luxedeluxe at Etsy.

I couldn’t help but to explore a little at Ashley Inn B&B. I found some old classics in their library, a perfect perch and accent for Jane and Kenny’s details.

Kenny is no slouch when it comes to dressing. Carefully chosen pieces by Ted baker and Duchamp were just the tip of the ice. His handmade, bespoke Buday shoes paired well with the GRAY suit he chose for this special occasion.

Pastel Springtime Kentucky Wedding

From the Lilly Pultizer bridesmaids dresses and the dreamy Monique Lhuillier gown, to the rolling green Kentucky hills and one adorable love story, this just might be one of the sweetest weddings I’ve ever set my eyes upon. Nina & Wes Photography captured every bit of Southern charm, and I wish this gallery didn’t end because I, and my Pinterest boards, just can’t get enough.

From Nina & Wes Photography… The love story of Lauren and Michael is simple and sweet. Their little brothers played on the same little league baseball team together, and they met at the ballpark where the games took place. It was at that same ballpark that Michael proposed and asked Lauren to marry him.

They married in Lancaster, Kentucky, as the sun shone softly on them. Lauren wore a beautiful blush wedding dress that seemed to float around her. They chose a soft color palette that was seen throughout their day.

Kentucky Barn Wedding Filled With Peonies

For these Kentucky nuptials, Jaclyn Journey designed a not so typical barn wedding…and we’re not so mad at that. Offsetting the ruggedness of Long Ridge Farm, peony-filled floral garland and soft sheer curtains draped the interior. Every last detail is spilling with gorgeousness , and pics from Amy Campbell Photography are sitting pretty right here.

Rustic

From Amy Campbell PhotographyJaimie worked with the talented Jaclyn Journey to design a space for her wedding that wasn’t the typical wedding in a barn. Gorgeous natural elements paired with elegant fabric and loose blooms transformed the space. She had all three barn doors draped with pink peony floral garlands. The tables were linen with a loose lace runner. The seating chart, wedding programs, menus, and invitations were all printed on a sheer vellum with hand drawn art work and lettering. The ceremony had dark wood chairs with light wood handmade floral wooden box stands in a lighter wood. Jaimie was very close to her grandmother who loved butterflies and to remember her, she had a butterfly pin in her hair and then the flowers on the front ceremony row featured fabric butterflies. They ordered custom patterned ties and bowties for the men. One of her best friends is a guy and she had him stand on her side and he wore a pink bowtie to distinguish him from the groomsman’s ties. During the ceremony they braided a three fabric ribbons together to symbolize them coming together. One of the most amazing elements of the day was her designer dress (Claire Pettibone “Kristene”).

And if winter is as pretty as this inspiration crafted by Lauren Chitwood, with flowers by Sarah Harris, invitations by Five Dot Design and photography by Amy Campbell, then we’re ready to embrace it

From Lauren ChitwoodThrough this long arduous winter we have all been experiencing , Lauren Chitwood, LBB Member, and her team decided to find the beauty in the cold with this sweet inspired photo shoot. Photographed by Amy Campbell, with a sparkling coat of ice over the Bluegrass the design team had a vision of warm luxury with a vintage mink, seasonal greenery, and vibrant shades of pomegranate and peach.

The bride wore a tailored lace gown with a detachable tulle skirt designed by Tara Keely. Earrings, headband, necklace and bracelets were sourced at Anthropologie and jeweled belt is from designer Kelly Faetaini graciously provided by Twirl Boutique. Ana Crane expertly crafted a convertible up-do that was easily taken down for a romantic but sexy half up- half down look. Highlighting our beautiful brides piercing eyes with lashes and smoky lid is a great dramatic look that transitioned from day to evening while photographing beautifully against the snow.

The sweet hear table was delicately crafted atop an antique leather top table with gold brushed tableware sliced pomegranates and full floral garland. The design team brought together the warm tones of pink Asiatic lilies, pink protea and peach Juliet garden roses and paired them with varieties eucalyptus, pine and spruce. The pussy willow stems added to the floral design were just enough to flirt with the suspicion that spring was seemingly just around the corner. Among the blooms and textured greenery, the team placed a cobalt blue Jim Beam bottle circa 1960 and a brass antique vanity stand to hold the bouquet thus creating a combination of perfect elements to carry through the essence vintage sophistication.

Five Dot Design, LBB member, created a striking invitation suite inspired by the warm gold tones and the deep plum hues. An elaborate crest monogram in gold complimented the regal table scape and a formal feeling that just feels so right in the snow.

This shoot make us just want to appreciate the crisp elegance of winter just a little bit longer.

Southern Garden Wedding Wrapped in Elegance

For as un-southern as I am, I am fully obsessed with the elegance and traditions of the region right down to the way my Southern friends add y’all to just about anything. And this Louisiana affair is the poster child for Southern elegance. Photographed in that gorgeous Erich McVey way with styling and vintage vignettes by Mrs. Vintage and grand, sweeping florals by Karin’s Kreations LLC, this full gallery is a must.

From The Bride…My husband and I became engaged a little over a year prior to our wedding, and I couldn’t have been more excited about the upcoming journey! Like most ladies, I had a vision for our wedding day. I immediately booked our amazing photographer, venue, and stylist! I had dreamed of a very classy and elegant look with purples, blues, and pinks mixed with a hint of gold. From mood boards to Pinterest boards, we began our planning! I worked very closely with my photographer and stylist to create the perfect wedding! Our wedding was very intimate, and the day could not have been any more magical! I will dearly cheerish March 8th of 2014 for the rest of my life.
