Gorgeous Green And White Wedding At Haiku Mill In Hawaii

[section title=”The Planning”]

A monochromatic pallette of white and ivory with greenery to support, white being the focus. The bride was inspired by the Heart Evangelista wedding.

When Kimiko scheduled her first design call with Anan and Everett one of the first questions she asked was ,”Tell me where design is on your priority list?” Anan did even pause and blurted out “PRETTY DARN HIGH!!!” Originally the couple was going to get married in Lake Como but shifted their focus to Hawaii when they found Haiku Mill so they wanted to use the historic sugar mill’s natural beauty to set the stage for a lush beautiful design that had a formal and dramatic feel without being austentatious or pretentious. Anan wanted to play the fine line between formal and rough while Everett wanted it to feel warm by candlelight and inviting so their intimate groups could feel connected. After Kimiko saw the bride’s dress it was pretty clear the direction they were going to head but the groom’s love for incorporating rich bold colors kept her second guessing if they should incorporate it in. In the end they all agreed that a monochromatic floral design that was a little wild and undone, filled with texture was a perfect fit for this celebration. Based on the couple’s design style at home and within their fashion choices Kimiko selected clean dramatic lighting and furniture pieces that had architectural lines and elements to them crafted by Jonas Kanahele of Artisan Events Maui.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The wedding flowers were babies breath, white hydrangeas, white peonies, white garden roses, white Larkspur, ranunculus, and phalaenopsis orchid There were pops of queen Anne’s lace and scabiosa in the centerpieces. The bride’s bouquet was a combination peonies and garden roses in a classic rounded hand-tied bouquet wrapped with an ivory ribbon. The grooms boutonniere was a single phalaenopsis orchid. The ceremony aisle featured large arrangement sitting at the last row inner aisle chairs and wrapped slightly around the front to create an organic. A mix of large fluffy hydrangea, clusters of garden roses and texture created with baby’s breath. The original request from the bride and groom was to create a hanging arrangement. Since the brides dress and train would be long and full creating a moment on the stairs was not necessary but throughout the design discussions we collectively decided that building a pillowy floral installation that almost embraced the couple as they said their vows and committed their lives to eachother after the long journey they had been on seemed like the natural choice and Kimiko always believes in investing in one focal point to create a wow affect rather than trying to spread your budget out over the entire space. The iconic stairs of Haiku Mill had never seen something quite like it so for our visual bride and groom it was hard to explain exactly how it would look but the promise was made that Bella Bloom would live up to the epic description that Kimiko had communicated which was an organic, textural, wild growing garden. There were to be no visible containers, all florals were to look as if they’re growing out of the stairs and up the railing, a style that Kimiko has been known for in natural outdoor settings such as Haiku Mill. While guests mingled at cocktail hour enjoying Beet Pipikaula on pillows of rice cakes and handcrafted cocktails created by Garnish Craft Cocktail the ceremony site was transformed into their dining room. A minimalistic design was created to allow the beauty of Haiku Mill to shine as well as the bride’s stunning dress. With a chapel length train it was recommended to the bride that she sit on a bench so her train could reach out behind her since it was part of the overall inspiration for the wedding design. On the table top, a mixture of medium and small arrangements were scattered between clusters of candles. The monochoormatic theme continued with minimal greenery and a wild, asymmetrical style with reaching stems, to compliment Anan’s dress. Deconstructed white phalanopsis orchids were laid on the top of the table amongst the candle clusters and loose stems were stratecigcally placed in order to reach out from the candles as if they wanted to touch the guests place settings.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple decided to focus on their unique plated dessert rather than having a wedding cake. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Processional – Everett’s parents & niece and then Anan’s mom & niece walked to
Yellow – Katherine Ho (Crazy Rich Asians album)

Bride’s Song:
Can’t Help Falling in Love – Kina Grannis (Crazy Rich Asians album)

Recessional
Heat Wave – Glass Animals
The couple wanted to time it perfectly so when the beat drops at 0:40 seconds they would start walking/right after the kiss,

Father & Daughter Dance: N/A

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Anan walked down the aisle solo since her father had passed away.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Anan is half Taiwanese and wanted to bring elements it into the menu for the wedding.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Everette is a huge traveller since 7 years old – it’s a very important part of his life and he collects special and unique pieces during his travels. That’s partly why selecting a destination wedding for them was a natural choice. [/field]

From Dmitri & Sandra Photography … Christina and Matthew’s vision of a romantic and vintage setting for their intimate wedding ceremony found its perfect match at The Haiku Mill. They chose elements of wood, hanging crystals, and clean white linens for the setup.

Classic White Wedding in Restored Sugar Mill in Maui

Haiku Mill were the perfect place for Couture Events Maui to plan a day that pulled out all the stops.  From a ceremony staircase covered in lush white floral arrangements to a reception dripping in elegance, Mandy Grace Floral & Event Design created pure wedding magic.  Every endlessly romantic detail is elegantly captured in the imagery by Dmitri and Sandra Photography, see it all inside the full gallery.

From Dmitri and Sandra Photography… Timeless, classic and romantic are the first words that come to mind as we look back at Colin and Victoria’s wedding at the Haiku Mill on Maui. This 150-year-old Restored Sugar Mill was the perfect setting for their celebration filled with blousy white florals and timeless details. They chose a neutral color palette of whites, green, ecru, dove gray and gold which enhanced the natural beauty of the historic ruins. From the elegant ceremony to the reception, all the details included sweet touches by the couple. We particularly loved the hand-written thank-you notes for each of their guests as escort cards and the super fun audio guest book. They danced the night away in company of their family and friends in the most romantic reception setting. Their wedding was a photographer’s dream!

From Couture Events Maui… Classic romance with an approachable vibe was the foundation of Victoria and Colin’s design. They are two very romantic, sentimental and thoughtful people and their wedding reflected that. I absolutely loved how Victoria and Colin were so into the details and design, naturally, being designers themselves. A signature wedding scent of sweet gardenia filled the air. We love ingraining different cues into our client’s mind so that they can remember their wedding day. The sweet gardenia scent had a sentimental touch for Victoria. We filled the dance-floor, bridal suite and hotel room with their signature candle in hopes that this scent will bring fond memories of their romantic wedding on Maui. Neutral tones set the mood for their heartfelt ceremony. As day turned into night, candlelight and chandeliers filled their reception space creating a romantic atmosphere for guests to sip, dine and dance the night away as they celebrated Victoria and Colin. We pulled in so many personal elements into this wedding, which is always the goal. Colin gifts Victoria with lilies and roses on a regular basis so we thought it would be appropriate to bring those florals into the design. We set up a beautiful arrangement of lilies on their antique bar so guests could enjoy the sweet fragrance while watching their cocktails being made. Victoria’s bridal bouquet was made of classic long stem roses and completed her timeless look. Victoria’s handwriting was incorporated into the day of paper goods that she and Colin designed together. They added sweet notes about their relationship and the reasons behind choosing certain things for their wedding day; thoughtful and personalized, making their wedding feel extra special.

From the Bride… I’m one of those ladies that dream about their wedding as a little girl and saw the Haiku Mill years back. Funny story, I actually showed Colin the Haiku Mill during our second week of dating and his response was, “I’m down!”. Two years later, he proposed and we knew the Haiku Mill was it. When you know, you know, right? Colin and I are both designers and so the classic, timeless, and romantic aesthetic spoke to us. We’re also weird, goofy individuals and wanted to give an approachable feel to our day. We care a lot about the details and wanted our wedding elements to be special as they were sentimental. From our invitations and stationery that we designed together, to handwritten letters, to our choice of flowers, food selection and our own wedding day scent; all spoke to elements in our love story that we wanted to share with our loved ones. It was important to us that we had timeless, beautiful photos shot in film and digital. Equally, we love, love food and we wanted to ensure our guests ate well. All of our vendors made our Maui wedding an absolute dream. When you choose to work with genuine, talented people you admire and trust, the rest takes care of itself. We got to simply enjoy our wedding day and be present. We will be eternally grateful for the love and care that went into the planning and execution of our wedding. If you are planning your wedding in Maui the only advice we have for you is to have fun, enjoy the process and don’t forget to pack coral reef safe sunscreen.

This Glam Island Wedding Is Wow-Worthy

We love a pretty and unique spin on a wedding, and Unveiled Hawaii accomplished just that with this glam island destination wedding on Maui’s North Shore. The gorgeous greenery at Haiku Mill kept the island vibe while chandeliers, glass orbs, crystal strands, and white orchid garlands by Damselfly Designs hung from the ceiling for an elegant effect. It’s as wow-worthy as it sounds, so scroll on to see it all, captured by Toto Villaruel.

Dianne and John, both from Brooklyn, New York, specifically chose Maui’s iconic Haiku Mill as the backdrop for their big day! With its lush green flora and incredible old world charm, Haiku Mill created an enchanting ambiance. Guests traveled from all over the world to join Dianne and John for their Hawaii destination wedding. Their ceremony held at Holy Rosary Church was steeped in traditions, a very important element for the Bride and Groom. The Groom drove his new bride to Haiku Mill in a beautiful classic speedster, courtesy of Maui Roadsters. Luxury destination wedding planner, Unveiled Hawaii, designed a beautiful reception which included a stunning ceiling display of white orchid garlands and hanging crystal strands with glass orbs, inspired by the Bride’s elegant vision for the decor. The vineyard tables were adorned with pale pink table runners, brushed gold candlestick holders with raspberry tapers, and textured glass votives. Gold lanterns and white candles framed the stairs well at the Haiku Mill and made for a romantic entrance. Damselfly Designs created beautiful florals, including the Bride’s bouquet: a stunning mix of pale pink and white peonies with cream spray roses, wrapped with flowing ivory ribbon. Experienced wedding photographer, Toto Villaruel, captured this couple’s love for each other perfectly in Maui paradise!

Haiku Mill Elopement + A Silver Dress Designed by the Bride

If you’re considering an elopement, can I persuade you to just DO it? Or, I should say—will you let Melia Lucida persuade you with these gorg captures? My husband and I almost did, and this day of love at Haiku Mill is exactly why. A day for just the two of you that can still be filled with so much pretty. Can you believe the Bride made her own dress? Wowza. I’m amazed. There’s more in The Vault to nudge you pretties.

From Melia LucidaThis was a secret elopement for a Canadian couple who did not want the stress and attention of a wedding at home. The bride designed her crossover bollywood skirt (with pockets!) and top with a Vancouver designer and it was handmade in India. Her shoes were nude patent leather Valentino flats. The ceremony was on a rainy December morning in Haiku but the couple stood under the glass of the mill for an thoughtful ceremony by Meredith. Soon after the conclusion of the ceremony the couple’s first dance song began to play and while they danced the mocha cake was laid out beautifully with candles and a gold serving set the bride had purchased at West Elm. After a few photos around the Mill, which is a wonderful combination of lush Hawaiian garden and antique Parisian accents, the bride and groom enjoyed lunch at Mama’s Fish House in Paia while it rained heavily – by the time lunch was over the rain had cleared and they took a few more photos at Ho’okipa beach which provided a misty soft grey ocean backdrop with hardly anyone else around.

Glamorous + Romantic Haiku Mill Wedding

I remember when I first saw pictures of a wedding at Haiku Mill, I thought it looked too pretty to be real. This glam wedding from Anna Kim Photography is stirring up those same feelings of awe. With stunning florals from Mandy Grace Designs, chic ghost chairs and elegant draping, and delicious cocktails from Garnish Craft Cocktail Catering, this Hawaiian fête is almost too good to be true. See it all here.

From The Bride…Brad and I met through a mutual friend on a blind date. Our first date was at the beautiful Broadmoor hotel and resort. There was definitely something unique and special about Brad. We hit it off right away. We both thought we were comedians, so laughter and fun banter filled our entire date. It’s truly been that way ever since.

Brad proposed to me Thanksgiving weekend when we had both sides of our families in town for the holiday. The day after Thanksgiving, we thought it would be a great idea to pick up breakfast Cronuts for our guests, and the only place that makes them in town was the Broadmoor. Brad thoughtfully planned the proposal at the place that we had our first date. It was such a sweet and heartfelt proposal and it was so exciting to come back and share the news with both of our families.

I was captivated by the Haiku Mill and all it’s beauty and knew that was where I wanted to have our wedding. We always envisioned a small and intimate ceremony, which the Haiku Mill was perfect for. We also selected Maui Hawaii to allow for our guests to have a great excuse to visit the beautiful island and to have a fun week filled with celebrations.

Our vision for the wedding was to have a dreamy, beautiful  and glamorous event. I love Hollywood style weddings, and designed  a celebrity worthy wedding. The wedding venue was kept under wraps and revealed the day of. We rented a private charter bus to take our 60 guests to the secret location. The colors were blush, rose gold and nude to compliment the natural beauty of the mill. The elements of glamour were the crystal chandeliers placed throughout the venue, lots of candles, varying floral arrangements, and a mirrored table runner to reflect the chandeliers at night. We had kings tables and ghosts chairs for a romantic and glamorous look. The bridesmaids were free to pick any dress to fit their personal style in any of the blush, rosegold or nude hues. It all came together beautifully. Food and cocktails were important to us as well, our menu was an organic farm to table menu and the food was sourced within 7 miles of the venue. We had signature cocktails that utilized fruits from the venue. We wanted our guest to experience a well thought out and memorable evening.

Oh and the dress!! Going with glamour and nothing less, the dress is from Pnina Tornai’s New York City runway show. I also wore a Pnina Tornai cathedral length veil. The dress was handmade with lace detail throughout, a deep plunging neckline mermaid cut gown with Swarovski crystals delicately places throughout. It was definitely a show stopper.

We put a lot of effort into every details to make the wedding unique and special. We made our welcome signs and hand painted them in our garage. We stained the wood to compliment the fruit trees on the property. We also used a vintage window pane and hired a calligrapher to write our guests names on the panes for our seating chart which was hung on a tree. We had welcome bags for our guests filled with sunblock, local Maui beer, local Maui coffee, Advil, & a itinerary door hanger to go over the weeks activities. We hired a ukelele singer, who we still get rave reviews about to this day. He sang over the rainbow as I walked down the aisle and performed throughout our cocktail hour which created a serene and magical ambiance. We also surprised our guests by chartering a  private sunset dinner cruise over the coast of Maui the night before the wedding for a fun night out.

Wedding planning was such a fun and enjoyable experience. There was no glitches on our wedding day, and honestly it could not have gone any smoother. Best advice is to be extremely organized, have a well thought out plan and concise vision and hire a wedding planner that you trust and connect with to help execute your vision. We were fortunate to have one of the best planners that ensured our vision and day was flawless.

From Anna Kim PhotographyGlamour and romance elegantly color every moment captured of this destination wedding. Beautiful shades of ivory, blush, nude, and rose gold perfectly compliment the old world, natural beauty of the Haiku Mill and accentuate the countless, enchanting details of this truly stunning event.

Our cameras were in heaven, inhaling an intoxicating, dreamy concoction of florals, candles, and mirrored table runners that reflected the chandeliers up above, and exhaling soft tendrils of timeless images illuminating the hours of thoughtful planning that went in to this beautiful wedding.

And then, of course, there is the bride. Phuong looked like she had just stepped off Pnina Tornai’s New York City runway show in her mermaid bridal gown and cascading cathedral length veil. The deep, plunging neckline, details of handmade lace and delicately placed Swarovski crystals were truly a work of art and added to our bride’s already breathtaking beauty.
