Sweet + Simple Island Wedding With a Touch of Teal

Sometimes all you need is a the tiniest touch of color is all you need to completely transform your wedding palette, and for this sweet St. Simon’s celebration a little pop of teal did just the trick. See all the pretty through Kylie Martin’s lens and head to the The Vault to keep the color crushing going.

From Kylie Martin PhotographyKatie and Kyle gathered their friends and family on the beautiful island of St. Simon on a warm summer afternoon. Katie’s personality and hand were involved in every immaculate detail of the day. They created a relaxed environment filled with beautiful tones and intricate details. The color palette played off of the giant trees that cascade over the venue property. The primary focus of their day was to create lasting memories and beautiful experience from start to finish for their guests. The day was filled with stunning light and laughter with friends and the evening was spent dancing to a live band as the sun set over the marsh. Katie and Kyle created a day full of love that was an absolute reflection of them as a couple, by focusing on the experience they were able to enjoy their day and absorb it fully.

From The Bride…David and I met while David was working in Australia. After a year of dating in Australia David’s company wanted him to move to Savannah, Georgia. We instantly fell in love with Savannah’s moss-draped oaks, beautiful squares and romantic riverfront.

As most of our guests were flying in from Australia and all corners of the United States we really wanted to share the same Southern hospitality that we had felt when we first moved to Savannah. It was important to us to make sure that all of our guests felt loved and included not only on our wedding day but throughout their entire stay. We looked for special ways to include our guests wherever we could so that by our wedding day everyone would feel like family. Throughout the weekend our guests were invited to join us for a low-country boil, a trolley tour of the Historic District and a riverboat cruise along the Savannah River.

When looking for a venue we could not go past the charming Whitefield Chapel. The quaint chapel surrounded by the beautiful grand oaks dripping in Spanish Moss perfectly captured the beauty of The South. Our catering company worked with us to come up with a menu consisting of local favorites including shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles and our baker sourced locally farmed, in-season produce to create the most beautiful cake. A month out from the wedding when details and timelines were bearing down we decided to take some time off from wedding plans for a Bourbon Bury. A Bourbon Bury is fun little Southern folklore that we had happened to stumble upon that says if you bury a bottle of bourbon, upside down, at the site of where you are to be married exactly a month from your wedding date then it won’t rain on your wedding day. On the day of your wedding you are meant to dig up the bourbon and share it with your bridal party in celebration.

Truly the highlight of the day was being surrounded by so many of our loved ones from near and far and being able to share such a special day with them. Digging up our bourbon after doing the bourbon bury the month previously and sharing it with our friends and family was just yet another fun way to include everyone in our day. Walking across the grounds to the place where we buried the bourbon with so many of dearest and their own significant others was one of the sweetest moments from the day.

From Rach Loves TroyWhen we first chatted with Molly and Ben it was evident they were a cool couple with some serious style. They had met and fallen in love in Las Vegas where molly was a Cirque du soleil dancer and then when work took Ben to New York City and now Laguna Beach, California. I knew after all that Molly and been had to be an adventurous couple and so full of life.

Their day was exactly that! Nothing but smiles from these two all day and their wedding style at the Bride totally reflected their calm cool and collected personalities the day of the wedding. They had this perfect mix of sweet southern with modern fun! So many fun details down to the beautiful floral appliqués on Molly’s adorable Two piece Jenny Yoo dress.

I loved how the blue, gray, and creams of their wedding perfectly blended with the style of the Brice. Molly was so conscious of the amazing design features this gorgeous hotel had to offer all on its own. Throw in all her adorable Kate Spade touches with their Mr. and Mrs. balloons and it was seriously beautiful!

Getting Married in an Train Museum Has Never Looked So Good

Who knew that getting married at a train museum could be so incredibly chic?! I’ll tell you who, Piper + Trey did, and boy did they pull out all the stops. From the lush bouquets to the seriously sweet captures from The Happy Bloom, this is one celebration that we’re going to have and to hold for-e-v-e-r. See it all in The Vault!

From The Happy BloomLove can be found in the strangest of places. And on this special day, love was found in a tiki bar. Piper heard that “that cute med school boy” would be there and suddenly she found herself sipping a fruity cocktail listening to a local band. And there playing on stage….was cute bed school boy. Med school boy introduced himself afterward and the rest is history.

They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. And we believe in that wholeheartedly. Piper + Trey’s wedding day was on a grey, misty Friday here in Savannah, Georgia. But even the grey skies couldn’t damper this incredible classic black & white wedding day.

Piper’s girls wore neutral dresses letting their lush bouquets shine. Piper gifted her girls all a ring, each coming in a golden shell case. These rings symbolized their friendship and gratitude Piper felt for her girls on her big day.

Trey and his guys wore classic tuxes and bowties making this wedding day a sophisticated affair.

Trey’s father passed away three years ago but his dad was there every single second of this incredible day. Trey wore his father’s ring ensuring that his presence would be there from the very beginning all the way until the excited sparkler sendoff.

Right before their first look, Trey opened a gift from Piper. It was a handkerchief with the sweetest words from Piper: “Trey, in all the world there is no heart for me like yours. In all the world there is no love for you like mine. I do love you. – Piper” What an incredible prelude to a romantic first look in Savannah’s Forsyth Park.

This Southern Bridal Party Proves the More the Merrier

With a bridal party of 20 (!!) these sweethearts prove that their celebration was about the more the merrier. A truly Southern affair filled with tradition, a historic cake topper, and heirloom linens, Jacqui Cole Photography captured it all to share and we’ve got it waiting for you to pin in The Vault!

From Jacqui Cole PhotographyThis beautiful couple wed in the bride’s home town of Macon, Georgia on February 27th 2016. Almost 400 guests attended their wedding, from all over the country, which really goes to show what kind souls they both are! The bride’s family own a pecan farm, so they chose subtly incorporate the pecan motif on many of the paper goods and guest welcome bags. Guests were even gifted a little packet of the families’ very own pecans!

While many of the wedding day moments were centered around traditions, the unique touches that were included really made their wedding one to remember. The couple chose to enjoy a first look to really maximize the time they could spend together on their wedding day. With a bridal party of 20 they also wanted to make sure they had a enough time to enjoy the day with all of their friends!

After the ceremony, guests made their way to the grand Macon Terminal Station where they enjoyed cocktail hour with classic southern hors d’oeuvre passed around. The couple incorporated many unique and personal touches to their wedding day. Lauren Summers Hodgens did an incredible job of planning and incorporating the sentimental southern traditions within the wedding day. It was extremely important for this bride and groom to include their families rich history and traditions. The cake topper was from the bride’s parent’s wedding cake and some of the linens were actually from her grandparent’s wedding! The florals were loose, organic and incorporated many natural green elements. The true statement of the reception was the incredible historic train station!

It’s clear to see the Mr&Mrs had a blast at the reception! The Voltage Brothers band was absolutely incredible and we even found the bride and groom up on stage during the night! They exited their reception to a beautiful vintage car and rode away waving thanks to all their guests. This wedding was such a joyful, beautiful day that was such a joy to capture – I couldn’t be more thrilled for the new Mr and Mrs!

From the Bride… We envisioned a traditional, elegant, Southern occasion surrounded by all of our closest family and friends who encouraged us along the way. We didn’t have a color theme or palette but rather we wanted everything to tie back to the idea of family. The wedding weekend began with the bridal luncheon at the bride’s childhood home. Minutes before guests began arriving, the bride and her two sisters spent time reliving their mother’s of wedding thumbing through her album their mom. As guests began arrived, the bride’s aunt played the piano from sheet music the bride’s grandmother once used to play the organ in their small town for weddings. At the luncheon, each table told a family story – the bride collected beautiful, special heirloom pieces and mixed and matched with the groom’s family. For instance, china from her grandmother, silver from his, napkins from his great grandmother and vases from the bride’s mother all told a story of two families coming together to celebrate the occasion. A little place card on each table told the story of the pieces.

On their wedding day, the bridesmaids came back to the bride’s childhood home to be surrounded my memories, laughs and a few tears. They married in the church where the bride grew up and the pastor was a longstanding figure throughout her childhood. The bride wore her mother’s veil made of Brussels lace her mother purchased while living abroad more than 40 years ago and her two younger sisters plan to wear it as well. The bride also carried a handkerchief that the groom’s maternal grandmother carried during her wedding – the bride and groom married in the their 60th year of marriage. During the reception, the groom’s grandparents danced to the song “May I Have This Dance?” that reminded them when they met at a dance 60 years ago in October.

There were so many happy tears shed – tears of joy, appreciation, admiration. The whole weekend focused on love, happiness and genuinely bringing together all the people who made us the people we are today – a memory of the totally overwhelming love and support is what we will always remember.

Our weekend would not have been possible without our wedding planner who is the most kind, selfless, creative, organized person we know. When we got engaged, we knew that we wanted her to help. She kept our best interests always at the forefront of her mind and navigated others with poise and grace always stopping to ask, “Is this what you want in your heart? Does this feel good to you?” Reflecting back on our engagement experience, she allowed us to focus on one another and our loved ones while she quietly handled the details.

One piece of practical advice I received was to look for occasion outfits (like for a luncheon, shower or party) when you are in the mood and light years before you need them. It makes the experience fun, takes the pressure off and of course you never find something when you need to! More sentimental advice is choose a few things that are important to you and prioritize them. For me, it was this element of family and that helped guide the other pieces of our planning.

High-Tops and a Designer Dress — How a Stylish Blogger Says “I Do”

A glamorous Jenny Packham wedding dress and a pair of high-top Converse — only a super stylish Bride, like blogger Lady Flashbackcould pull it off. And she does. But that’s not the only cool factor of this Georgia wedding. From the vintage horse-drawn plow turned ceremony arbor to mini wedding cakes in a variety of yummy flavors, this day from Ben And Colleen is full of rustic wedding inspiration. See it all in The Vault!

From Ben And Colleen…Jess (lifestyle blogger Lady Flashback and Dustin (mechanical engineer) met at the Shaky Knees music festival in Atlanta Georgia. It was pouring rain and they spent the day huddled under a broken umbrella (which they kept and later walked down the aisle with just after the kiss!)

Jess planned every bit of her wedding herself, down to the last detail.

From The Bride…Hair and makeup by A Glamour Affair who did a fantastic job on me and all my ladies! Everyone came with a photo for the stylists and it was replicated perfectly. We were all impressed with their work!

I don’t know what I would have done without my girls there helping, calming, hanging and making me laugh. Meanwhile the guys were out in the pasture shooting skeet like true Southern gentlemen! Even if you’re not into guns, this is pretty sexy!

This activity was such a nice touch to the day and all the guys really enjoyed the bonding! At the end of the day my dad gifted the above gun to Dustin. It’s special because it was the gun his dad (my Papa Joe who passed away many years ago) shot his first deer with and it’s a Winchester (which is my new last name) model 12. Meant a lot to both of us. The grooms suite was so fitting! It had a taxidermy deer head and a gun safe, the ultimate man cave!! Dustin made tie clips for his groomsmen and himself and I think you’d agree-they turned out great! Couple’a Google searches and a stamping kit and he was off! Love his DIY spirit!

Before we walked down the isle we got in our group shots between all the Fall goodness happening in the front yard. How great did everyone’s dresses look together??!! Not only did it make things so easy but I love the outcome of giving the ladies the freedom to choose their style and fit! And for the guys, we rented the suits and gave the ties as a gift along with the DIY’d clips.

Evan Leggoe handled the floral design for the wedding. We met up and chatted about what I liked and from there she came up with a game plan and shopping list that I bought at a wholesale place in town. Day before the wedding Dustin and I picked up the flowers and had them waiting for her at the venue. On the day of she did everything onsite and KILLED IT. Just wait till you see the arbor! She made my arbor dreams come true! Bet you’re wondering what the actual structure is, I didn’t have a clue until it was explained to me that it’s an old horse-drawn plow. We thought it was so unique and loved the idea of going a different route but still giving me the arbor I wanted.

The invitations were home-made using a cyanotype process invite that Mom and I put in lots of sweat (no blood or tears included but we came close) into, then Dustin worked long and hard to stamp. We love how they turned out!

When it came to the reception decor I knew exactly what I wanted. Not joking when I say I illustrated out in Photoshop what I envisioned the tables looking like. Obviously couldn’t do it myself so it was left up to those organizing the florals and props and they (ahem, Evan) nailed it in every way! When we were doing our portrait session I got a glimpse of the crew working on the tables and was over joyed because I realized it was all coming together flawlessly. Chargers, flatware and linens rented through Sun in my Belly and the sugar molds and decor rented through venue.

Because we picked the pasture as our ceremony location we had to have something to drive myself and my dad to the alter otherwise it would have been a long walk or golf cart ride. Sweet Meadows had posted a wedding on their blog a while ago that used this old taxi cab a local resident had restored. I fell in love and asked if we could track down the guy. He agreed and was really sweet. So glad it worked out because it was truly perfect for the transportation and photos!

Having Dad in the ride to the ceremony made for some special memories. He’s a big time goofball and was doing all these ridiculous things making me laugh which helped the nerves! I was sad that neither Dustin nor I had grandparents at the wedding but so grateful to have all our parents by our side.

There were aspects of our wedding that were non-traditional because well, we are millennials and that’s how we roll! For example, our friend Kyle got certified and married us. He added humor and kept the mood fun and relaxing-perfect man for the job!

I’ll be honest, I was FREEZING! It really affected being able to remember the vows, haha! But we laughed our way through it and had a good time.

Speaking of vows, we did the whole hear and repeat deal. We knew we’d both be full of so many emotions (I’m a wedding cryer) so we opted for the more chill route which was perfect!

Lastly, the best part, THE PARTY!

After the ceremony we moved the guests up to the barn for happy hour and apps while Dustin and I finished up photos with our family. Then we made our grand entrance with a first dance as husband and wife. We chose our favorite song, “Closer” by St Lucia. It was unrehearsed and fun! We know all the lyrics and sang them to one another between laughs.

“I’ve got a feeling we will never get closer than this
I can’t imagine there’s a way to get closer than this”

-Seemed very appropriate!

Following our dance and mingling for a 15-20 minutes Dustin and I each grabbed a signature cocktail and went off and had that private meal. Our caterer was the wildly popular and local Sun in My Belly. They did a fantastic job with not only the food but also the set up and handling of the flow. I know that people want to make you feel good about your wedding but we had sooooo many attendees tell us the food was the best they’ve ever had at a wedding and then tell us they weren’t just saying that! Seriously, they crushed the menu! Our favorite app was the fried green tomato topped with pimento cheese and favorite entree was the shrimp and grits-can you tell we are both Southerners??!!

Since our venue was over an hour outside of the city it made finding a wedding cake that didn’t require a $100-$150 travel fee difficult. After lots and lots of email let downs I decided to go with an easier idea – multiple smaller cakes that could be easily transported. So glad we went with this route! We used Metro Bakery and asked friends to pick up for us. They were delicious and gave our guests plenty of options! I only tried two, the lemon zinger (lemon cake, raspberry filling, lemon cream cheese frosting) and cuatro leches (yellow cake soaked in four milks, kahlua buttercream frosting)-both moist and packed with flavor!

We had the traditional list of speeches before the real party went down. Since it had started sprinkling and everyone was inside we all just stood around the barn making it more casual which I really liked! Dustin and I love to dance and so do our friends! At one point they formed a circle around us and would jump in to have a dance with him, me or BOTH! So many special moments to cherish.

A Georgia Wedding All About Southern Elegance

If you’ve been dreaming of a rustic wedding since you were a little girl, then this Georgia wedding is for you. From JL Designs‘ bouquet masterpiece filled with ranunculus, astilbe, roses and eucalyptus to the romantic ceremony in the woods, this Bride and Groom’s big day is rustic perfection. See it all from Expressions By Brandy in The Vault!

From The Bride…Our wedding theme was Southern, natural, and a lot of cotton. Most ideas came from Pinterest.

Jacob and I both work at Walton EMC. I noticed him several years earlier but we never spoke. Jacob sent me a friend request through FB. We began talking as friends. We had the same beliefs in Christ, how children should be raised, and life in general. After a few months, he asked me on a date. I was excited and said absolutely! Our first date was at Longhorn’s Steakhouse in Athens, GA. We didn’t speak much. I think the shift from friend to date made us both a little nervous. After that I could tell we were both excited about each other. We continued to go on dates every week and decided we would not date anyone else.

On May 3rd 2015, Jacob asked me were I’d like to eat for my birthday. Since we normally eat dinner with friends for our birthdays, I wasn’t suspicious AT ALL! I picked Shokitini’s in Athens, GA. The sushi is amazing!!!! We had a group of about 10 people. They all knew that Jacob may ask me to marry him. Looking back now I can see how overly happy everyone was but at the time I thought nothing of it. During our dinner I got up to use the ladies room. When I got back Jacob had left the table and everyone was rearranged so that I was on the outside instead of the inside of the table. As Jacob walked back toward the table, he quickly got on his knees and back up before I realized he said “Will you marry me”!!!! When I looked down I saw a beautiful diamond and realized what he asked me! I started crying and said YES!

The Ceremony Backdrop? A Staircase Filled With Candles!

I think every wedding needs a WOW moment, and this Atlanta “I do” totally delivered in that department. One look at their candle-covered ceremony backdrop and you’ll be inspired to create a dreamy design focal point of your own. Kendra Elise photographed, Imagine Video Productions filmed, and there’s even more to see inside The Vault!

From Kendra Elise… Jasmine & Jon married on April 1, 2016 at the beautiful Summerour Studio in Atlanta. The couple recently moved to Atlanta from New York City. Growing up just a few blocks away from each other in New York City. They are huge foodies and love to travel! The wedding was classic & elegant with family joining the couple from NYC, Haiti, & beyond. The perfect touches of elegance with flowing flowers, romantic ceremony with a staircase full of candles.

From The Bride…We wanted to keep true to the garden theme. Our venue was a refurbished warehouse with a courtyard that resembles a Tuscan villa, so we played on that. We made sure to keep the color palette muted with tons of neutral tones, including soft gray, taupe, champagne, and ivory. We brought in some shimmer with mixed metal elements: candles, chandeliers, and accessories. Even our decorative pillows kept true to the color scheme!

I would describe our style vision to be a mixture of romantic, earthy and bohemian chic. The keyword for all design aspects was “flowy.” From the styling of our event drapery to the hairstyles my bridesmaids wore, we kept true to our vision.

My favorite detail was our altar and staircase decor. With rain looming over the weather forecast the week leading up to the big day; the decision to have our wedding ceremony inside versus the outdoor courtyard became final 5 hours before we walked down the aisle. Our floral designer was up for the challenge and completely delivered. We stood under a floral halo with dripping garden roses, amaranthus, and hydrangeas. Truly breathtaking and everyone agreed!

The theme for our flowers was lush green foliage. Once I started planning my wedding, I knew the typical wedding centerpieces were not going to cut it. I tasked my floral designer to use more greenery than flowers and to pile on the texture. Some of our arrangement favorites included: peonies, ranunculus, and succulents. We use over 300 candles to convey layers of light!

My advice for other brides is wedding coordinators and planners are essential, especially if you have a lot of DIY and individual touches! Also, make sure you hire a planner who seems to mesh and align with your vision from the beginning. It makes design meetings so much smoother.

A Summer Island Wedding with a Floral Covered Chuppah

Have you ever seen a 7 foot wedding cake? Or a chuppah so pretty it could bring you to tears? This, dear friends, is the kind of day that’s about to unfold all planned by industry guru, Tess Casey. You might recognize her floral design work from movies like Sex and the City or The Devil Wears Prada, so no surprise she was the genius behind this incredible celebration. With Trent Bailey behind the camera, you’d be crazy not to visit The Vault for an inside look.

From Tess CaseyThe bride grew up going to Sea Island, so the natural place to have her wedding was on the beautiful Georgia Island. Wednesday night was an intimate family celebration held on the black banks terrace of the cloister. All the guests wore white and the bride wore blue. The flowers were garden snapdragons, pale blue hydrangea, coral peonies and olive branches in natural wooden boxes. The guests dined on the dock on farm tables with cream linen napkins tied with twine in the fisherman’s love Knot. Hanging custom nautical lanterns lit the dock as the sun went down. Thursday’s rehearsal dinner was held at the villa and had a european flair. All flowers were from a local farm market with bunches of hand tied herbs and copper lanterns all down long tables with white linen.

Friday night was a big southern party on rainbow island with huge baskets of peaches and wildflowers in spice cans on the picnic tables hanging overhead market lights and the open fire pit set the tone for the Southern bash. The love sign leaning against a huge tree at the end of the dock walk was a brilliant photo op for all. This Saturday celebration was held in tents on the beach and the ceremony was held on the beautiful old sail tent. A walkway was constructed on the beach in beige carpet with the hedges of babies breath and hanging green amaranthus.

Inside the tent a massive custom Chuppah was made from birch branches encased in lucite with hanging wisteria and orchids. It was a nod to the Southern Spanish moss hanging from the trees in the area. The bridal party carried flowers of garden roses, dusty miller, grape hyacinth, succulents, olive twigs and eucalyptus while the bride carried white peonies, garden roses and smilax. The reception was held in the custom built one-of-a-kind tent set overlooking the beach. The mixture of different styles and sizes from farm tables to beautiful oval and square tables, mini sofas, beautiful chairs, custom linens lend the night to grand southern estate affair. Hanging over every table suspended from the ceiling were phalaenopsis orchids and branches and over the huge dance floor were a collection of crystal chandeliers. All around the tent were huge trophy vases of blue and white hydrangea and massive urns of white peonies.

The dessert area which was a big reveal was inspired by Sophie Coppola’s movie Marie Antoinette. Here the desserts and cakes were displayed in crystal tables with hanging chandeliers. There were also wall mirrors and peacocks with six-foot tails and gilded birdcages tapered candles in crystal candelabra surrounded the 7 foot wedding cake.

Rustic-Meets-Romantic North Georgia Mountain Wedding

Molly Mae Events said it best: “This wedding just makes me happy. Perhaps it was the breathtaking view from where the ceremony and reception took place, or it could be the perfectly picked colors that complemented the backdrop just right.” It could also be the gorgeous stationery from Paper Daisies or the beautiful blooms by Southern Stems. No matter what your favorite detail, every moment captured by Carla Gates Photography in The Vault is sure to make you swoon!

From Molly Mae EventsThis wedding just makes me happy. Perhaps it was the breathtaking view from where the ceremony and reception took place, or it could be the perfectly picked colors that complemented the backdrop just right. There is one thing that is certain, and it is Megan and Brian just make me happy. After a first date at a cabin weekend one Fall, they played hooky the following Monday to spend just one more day together. A romance that started in the natural beauty of the North Georgia Mountains, it was appropriate the start of their life as husband and wife would follow suit.

Megan and Brian were married on May 30, 2015 at the beyond stunning Waterfall Club in Clayton, Georgia. They promised their life and love to each other overlooking Lake Burton where the bride spent every summer growing up. You could actually see her grandmother’s lake house from where they stood. Surrounded by only the closest family and friends, the backdrop to the very beginning of their new life together was something from a fairytale. Guests were invited to continue enjoying the view with dinner, drinks and dancing.

To not take away from the raw, natural beauty of their venue, the bride chose neutral colors of greens, whites, ivories and grays – colors that just seemed meant to be for a venue like the Waterfall Club. The use of fresh herbs throughout incorporated a fresh, organic feel, while countless candles added the ultimate romantic touch.

A late night appearance of the infamous King of Pops and grand sparkler exit was the perfect ending to a the start of a perfect life.

Classic Black Tie Wedding at the St. Regis Atlanta

I have a special spot in my heart for traditional black tie weddings and that adoration isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. But add some chic Southern style to the mix and my breath quickens and my hands start shaking in excitement because you just KNOW it’s gonna be good. And this gem, captured by Lauren Kinsey and created by the crazy talented Amy Osaba, is just that and more. From the fabulous fashion to the bouquets I want to live in, it’s all in our Vault for us to enjoy pic after pic!

From the Bride… Once deciding to marry in Atlanta, my childhood home and a city that holds such a special place in my heart, it did not take long to choose the venues. We knew we wanted a traditional Southern black tie wedding with some unexpected twists that paid homage to the city and region’s heritage. Finding a wedding planner was tricky because I wanted a very specific aesthetic and it was important that nothing felt too contrived or predictable. It did not take long after finding Amy Osaba to know that she would be the perfect fit and a dream to work with.

The ceremony took place in my church, First Presbyterian of Atlanta, which also happens to be one of the oldest and most beautiful sanctuaries in town. The reception, immediately following the 6:30 in the evening service, took place at the St. Regis Atlanta. Located in the heart Buckhead, the ballroom and terrace used for the cocktail hour and sit down dinner were the perfect combination of glamour, elegance and brought the exact ambiance that we were hoping to achieve. The late summer night was beautiful and an outdoor whiskey bar and cigar roller under bistro lights and gorgeous stars painted a perfect canvas. Inside the ballroom were meticulously set long tables profiling the dance floor, cake, furniture vignettes and the moss wall backdrop for the stage and 14-piece band. With a large hanging floral installation above the main table and ethereal lighting and flower arrangements thoughtfully placed all over the timeless ballroom it painted the picture of an enchanted garden.

It was easy to see and feel all of the attention to detail and careful attentiveness that took place in selecting everything from start to finish. The night was an absolute dream come true and everything we had hoped for and more!

Charming Georgia Stables Wedding in Pastel Hues

Getting married in horse stables doesn’t sound terribly romantic, but when you see Kenzie and Ward’s Georgia wedding, you’ll see just how romantic and beautiful it can be. Simply Charming Socials created a botanical-inspired wedding wonderland in shades of purple, peach and blush. Head to The Vault for all the beautiful details—from lush flowers to sweet horses—thanks to beautiful photos from Kathryn McCrary!

From Simply Charming SocialsThe day could not have been more beautiful for this lovely Spring wedding in Georgia. Kenzie and Ward, as they are known affectionately, celebrated among friends and family at the beautiful Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club, a whitewashed stables amongst fields and blooms. Kenzie and mom Wesley enlisted wedding planner and designer Kristine Cooke of Simply Charming Socials to create a botanical-inspired wedding, color washed in an array of pastels. Kathryn McCrary photographed each moment of the affair.

As each side of the bridal party dressed for the day, it was apparent this couple is so loved by friends and family as laughter and smiles are aplenty. Kenzie dressed with her maids, mom, and three sisters. All of the girls donned in flowy floor length dress, the bridesmaids from Joanna August, and the three sisters in floral numbers by Reformation. Kenzie sat to get her hair and makeup perfected by Jennifer Nieman, complete with flowers in her hair, before dressing in a form-fitting Nicole Miller gown found at The Sentimentalist in Atlanta. On the other side of the property, Ward and his groomsmen joshed around and sampled the bourbon bar before dressing in their grey suits and white silk yarmulkes. Father of the bride and friends of the family gathered with the rabbi to sign the ketubah, the final duty before the ceremony began.

The guests were shuttled to Douglasville, GA where they arrived to a courtyard ceremony, a display of white chairs nestled between horse paddocks. Southern sweet tea and lemonade greeted friends pre-ceremony as they listened to Athens-based bluegrass duo, Cicada Rhythm. No outdoor Jewish ceremony would be complete without a chuppah, constructed of birch branches and swathed in hand-dyed ombre peach linens. The Flower Post adorned the traditional marriage structure with a garland of lush greenery and pinky blooms. Under the cloth sat a table with ceremonial items for the vows Kenzie and Ward exchanged and the sealing of their union.

After the ceremony, guests were treated to a cocktail hour on the back lawn as they indulged in delectable appetizers from caterer Sun in my Belly and lounged in beautiful vintage furniture. Blue Eyed Yonder’s pink sofa, lovely settee, and bespoke bar cart made for comfortable conversation pieces. Before the reception began, Kenzie and Ward headed down to the field to take some portraits with the resident horses. Kenzie is an avid horse lover and equestrian so a botanical wreath for her equine friends was a must.

As guests were welcomed to the reception, they were seated in a room filled with lush linens, cascading white drapery, and place settings fit for a farm-to-table feast. From hand-dyed runners to watercolored hand-lettered place cards by Lairsey Paper Co. to vintage votives, no detail was left unnoticed. Toasts and bubbly were flowing as friends and family enjoyed a sensational meal. After dinner, it was on to the other side of the stables for a peachy cake, petite desserts, and dancing for one and all. The Drive Time Band was lively and played a mix of dance hits, throwback tunes, and, of course, the horah. The evening ended with a bubble farewell and tons of hugs and kisses as Kenzie and Ward exited into the night.

Southern Rustic-Meets-Classic Country Club Wedding

She’s a little bit country. He’s a little bit classic. So, when it came time to plan their fall wedding, this Bride and Groom settled on a style they deemed “Southern Elegance.” With a ceremony on the veranda overlooking the golf course and a reception infused with rustic, wood touches, this couple’s sweet vision came to life. See it all (including bridesmaids’ dresses from Weddington Way) from Dori Elizabeth in The Vault!

From JL DesignsWe were thrilled that Jennifer and Ryan were referred to us by a long time friend Nate Deaton. From the first time we met with Jennifer she knew what she wanted and was a pleasure to work with. Getting to know them though the process and having the opportunity to watch them join together as husband and wife was a blessing. One of the many joys of our profession is that we get to be apart of our clients lives not only for with weddings but keeping in touch after their big day. We recently caught back up with Jennifer as they welcomed a new baby boy in to their family and opened a new business just right across the street from us. Jennifer told us all about their relationship in a recent conversation that we had with her.

From The Bride…Ryan and I met through mutual friends in the summer of 2010. I remember thinking he was one of the funniest people I had ever known. I thought to myself, this guy has the strongest love for life! We were really young, and he is actually two years younger than myself. That being said…though I felt like a little girl with her first crush every time he was around, I never thought of anything serious involving the both of us. He went off to college, while I stayed here and we led two separate lives.

One year later, he came back home and we reconnected. Age didn’t matter so much to me at this point and crushing was an understatement. When they say “love at first sight” it seems cliche, right? Well, that’s what I always thought. I never believed in this kind of love before. I was actually smitten. On the night of Halloween at around 12:01 in the morning, we decided to make it official and I couldn’t stop the butterflies! I have truly been head over heels ever since.

A year later we brought a precious baby boy into this world. Though it may not have been the exact “time-line” we had always thought of to happen, Brennan was our biggest blessing. I never thought I could love Ryan more than I already did until I watched him love our baby. On the night of January 14th, Ryan got a family friend (who was pursuing photography) to call me and tell me that Ryan had set up a family photo session. I had been wanting to do that for months. Even though it was a little rainy, we got ready and went to our hometown park with the most beautiful little pond with the cutest little bridge. The photographer asked me if I wanted to walk over to the bridge for some pictures and as I was turning around to ask him what he thought about it, he was on one knee holding the ring of my dreams! That night I knew that I was going to live the rest of my life with the most perfect man, for me.

Our inspiration for our wedding was just to be us. I loved rustic and he loved classy. Needless to say, we aren’t very traditional people so right away we knew the wedding would be specific to us. The southern lifestyle is what we have always lived by. Not necessarily “country,” just southern. I love rustic southern charm and he loves golf clubs and such. As we put the two together, we came up with a “southern elegance” style wedding. He wasn’t much into the barn styled weddings (I think they’re beautiful) and I wasn’t too much into the ball room style, so as we merged together the two personalities, we came up with a country club wedding. We got married on the veranda at Cherokee Run Golf and Country Club in Conyers, Georgia. It had a little bit of what each of us loved. I was scared to be completely outdoors because of the fall showers so the covered veranda was the perfect choice for us. It had the most beautiful view over looking the golf course and the beautiful fall colored leaves on the trees. I had a vision in my mind of what I wanted it to look like and it soon became the wedding of my dreams. We had our reception inside the country club. It wasn’t as rustic as I originally wanted so JL Designs quickly created the most beautiful southern feel to our fancy country club reception.

Wedding planning was definitely a very trying experience for me. It was incredibly exciting and so much fun picking and choosing all of our favorite things and combining them into one perfect day. I took nine and a half months to plan. We composed a list of vendors that quickly became our favorites and that’s when our sweet and simple, southern wedding really started coming together. Along with the help of my husband, my maid of honor was the perfect help. She worked with me on every small detail to make sure I would have the wedding she knew I had always wanted. We spent many long nights prepping for decor and making favors. In the end, everything from our “sending s’more love your way” wedding favors to my breathtaking flower arrangements were totally and completely worth every sleepless night.

We got married on October 11, 2014. I catch myself reliving that day, constantly. I remember being so nervous that entire morning. I remember our photographer taking us down stairs, separately, to a column in the lobby of the hotel and her placing my hand into his so we could talk to each other and feel each other for the last time before we would be “husband and wife.” From the moment I felt his hand, I immediately felt an overwhelming calmness. The moment I finally got to walk down the aisle, I was reassured for the millionth time that Ryan was the one God had chosen just for me. Nothing else in this world mattered except for the love I had for him and the undeniable love he had for me.

Dreamy Atlanta Skyline + Mural Engagement Session

I think it’s time to book a trip to Atlanta, because I need a photo in front of this fabulous floral mural. Can you blame me? From Anna K PhotographyAllison and Brian have the sweetest hearts and we love the locations that they chose for their engagement session! Allison is an Atlanta native, while Brian is newer to the city. We roamed around the area right outside of the Krog Street tunnel admiring all of the beautiful murals. The light and the pastel colors came together perfectly! To wrap up their session we made our way to the Jackson Street Bridge right as the sunset on the Atlanta Skyline.

Classic Southern Plantation Wedding in Georgia

As much as I love the gorgeous gown, lovely flowers and all the other pretty details at this Georgia wedding, my favorite part of this day is that the Bride and Groom asked guests to unplug as they exchanged I Dos. Without the distraction of phones and cameras, everyone could focus on the most beautiful part of this whole day: the couple’s love. See all the pretty from Simply Sarah Photography in The Vault!

From The Bride… John and I met while in high school through a persistent mutual friend – turned matchmaker. Although I told this friend that the boy she kept telling me about was too young for me, she went on to tell that ninth-grade boy that we would be the perfect couple. Then, one day in 2007, as I logged onto MySpace I was greeted by a message that read, “Hi I’m John. I’m Courtney’s friend. I don’t know what to say so what’s up?” I almost didn’t respond because after all, I was in tenth-grade and had no desire of dating someone younger than me. That would have been the biggest mistake of my life. That fist message somehow sparked several weeks of online chatting and long home phone conversations (because neither of us had cell phones yet…or licenses for that matter). John asked me to be his girlfriend later that year and it has always been him ever since. Although we were at different schools, we got to experience high school together and the sweet memories that came along with after school hang outs, proms, graduations, and everything in between. After high school, we went on to different colleges and continued dating. The college years brought us new friendships, community, a new church to call home, road trips, hard times, Netflix binges, date nights, both choreographed and freestyle dances, and most importantly, stronger relationships with God.

John proposed on November 15, 2015 at Fall Creek Falls in Tennessee. It was a picture-perfect proposal planned so well by my “not a planner” fiancé. We were overlooking a large waterfall with romantic candles lit and a bouquet of my favorite flowers was prepared for the event. A photographer was hired to capture all the precious moments. I was serenaded by several of our closest friends to my favorite song, Yellow, while John spoke words of truth, encouragement, and endearing love to me right before he got down on one knee to ask, “Will you marry me?” I responded with an awkward hand gesture and said, “Of course I will!”

While we were dating, I dreamt of the perfect day when my best friend would become my husband. I prayed for this man, for this day, for years.

As our wedding day approached and the weather forecast predicted rain, I feared our day wouldn’t be “perfect.” Although rain came, it held off during the ceremony and we were still able to have a beautiful outdoor wedding. Curls fell and makeup ran, but I learned a lesson from our wedding – even when the situation is not “ideal,” it can still be something truly beautiful. October 3, 2015 was a perfect day because it was exactly what God planned for us and He was glorified. That is all John and I could ever ask for.

When John and I became engaged, we knew early on that we wanted to have a pretty large wedding. John has a big family and I have a lot of people who I consider family. Given our large guest list, we were forced to get creative with how we were going make our budget work.

We both agreed that we wanted the majority of our vendors to be ones who meant something to us and who we had personal relationships with. It made our day that much more special knowing that many of those involved in our wedding were people we had known for years. People who had invested in us, supported us, and loved us. One of the easiest decision during the wedding planning process was who we wanted to marry us. We asked my childhood pastor, who now leads a young adult Bible study that John and I are a part of. I may be biased, but it was the best wedding ceremony I have ever been to. John’s brother, Jack, along with a few of our close friends sang during the ceremony. Pastor Scott’s wife, Sandy, helped plan the wedding and worked alongside a long-time family friend, Cora with The Southern Bell’s, in decorating the venue. Our venue, The Inn at Oak Lawn Farms, is owned by my middle youth pastor. The bridal party’s attire all came from John’s family’s store, Prom USA, where I work as a manager. The bridal party’s hair was done by close family friends of over 15 years. John’s parents also own a catering company, A Taste to Remember, and they offered to prepare all the food. Our cake was made by a family friend, Don with Cuppalicious Gourmet Bakery, that we have known for years and who we go to church with. Our invitations were designed by a co-worker from my very first job, Sara from Sarabelle Designs. We even knew our photographers, Simply Sarah Photography, as I went to high school with both Sarah and her husband/second-shooter Will. It felt like one big family working together to make our big day happen. We met our other vendors through local bridal expos and we were so fortunate to find them. Allie with Bowman & Clark was able to completely re-create my “Bridal Blooms” Pinterest board. Flowers are a love language of mine and she nailed it. Our makeup artists, Vigilante Cosmetics, worked their magic on my bridal party and everyone looked stunning. John and I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who worked our wedding day. You guys are rockstars and we are so grateful!

For some DIY elements, John and a few of our family members and friends built 30 farmhouse tables. We were crazy and did not realize how big of an undertaking it was initially, but they were exactly what I had pictured. John knew I wanted them and he made it happen. I married a great man. We constructed a few wooden signs and had John’s siblings paint some of my favorite quotes on them to use for decor. We spray painted inexpensive frames that were purchased at thrift stores and The Dollar Tree and framed lyrics from some of our favorite songs and quotes from favorite books and poems and used those on the tables. My sister made 30 linen table runners that we used to anchor and unify all the reception tables. She even made us napkins with the leftover fabric that we were able to use this year for our first Thanksgiving as a married couple when we had the family over. My mom and I thrifted every now and then and found several brass, silver, and gold candlesticks that we also used for decor. I liked the idea of mixed metals.

For my bridal look, I wore a lace Ivory and Champagne mermaid gown by Allure Bridals for the ceremony and first dances. It was my dream dress. I chose a belt, also by Allure, to pair with the gown to add some sparkle and to accentuate the waistline. I ordered individual lace pieces that matched my wedding gown from Allure to have a custom veil made so there was no differentiation in the lace patterns. I always knew I wanted a mermaid gown, but I also loved the timeless look of long sleeves. When I found my wedding gown, I gave up on the idea of long sleeves…that is, until about two months before the wedding. John’s sister, Christina, and I were attending fashion shows during a buying trip for Prom USA. We were sitting in front row of the Jovani showroom and down walks a model wearing a beautiful, simple, lace long sleeved dress. Christina mentioned that the dress came in Ivory, so we ordered it shortly after to be my reception dress. It was form fitting and extremely comfortable. John and I love to dance and I knew I wouldn’t be able to move as much as I wanted to in my mermaid gown. The Jovani dress was the perfect choice for dancing the night away.

I wanted our wedding to be romantic, personal, and very natural. The bridesmaids wore a shade of taupe that was called “Mocha” by Allure Bridals. I was so in love with the bridesmaid color and how well it went along with my Ivory and Champagne wedding gown. The flowers consisted of soft ivory and blush tones and had lots of greenery to make everything feel natural and organic. The navy blue tuxes allowed us to stray from the norm a little bit and add a pop of color while stay remaining neutral. The music played as guests entered the ceremony was carefully selected. The playlist was made up of mostly acoustic covers of some of mine and John’s favorite songs. The paper I used to write my vows on was my dad’s old stationery from college. I love sentimentalism and the meaning behind all of the personal details from our wedding day.
